About this Episode

A breakdown of the 2018 Money in the Bank event, covering the men's and women's ladder matches, Nia Jax versus Ronda Rousey, AJ Styles versus Shinsuke Nakamura, and other undercard matches. The hosts discuss the career implications for the briefcase winners, the booking of Roman Reigns, and the passing of Big Van Vader. The episode also touches on the status of the Raw and SmackDown rosters following the event.

Hey, pay attention because I'm only going to

say this once. Let's talk about money in the

bank. We will have two money in the bank ladder

matches. One for the men. And one for the women.

If you want to make it to the top, then here's

what you need to know. If at first you don't

succeed... climb climb again grab the briefcase

hanging high above the ring inside is a contract

you can cash in at any time over a year -long

period for an opportunity at a championship it's

so highly coveted because it changes careers

it can truly change your life opportunity hangs

in the balance literally ladies and gentlemen

welcome to the podcast arena coming to the ring

at this time this week at Geek, and from hearts

unknown, he is... Welcome to mayhem mics. This

is episode 41. Hey, look folks two episodes in

two weeks right in a row I am of course Steve

to a mic as I probably just said that joining

me is Ryan and even flow Merkley. Hello, sir

Yellow, you know So we are gonna be talking about

the monster in the bank It needs to be renamed

that every year that Braun Strowman is in the

event Okay, okay then money in the bank includes

matches with daniel brian versus big cass i'm

just gonna run down the list we can talk about

each other in a moment sammy zane versus bobby

lashley alias versus seth rollins the women's

money in the bank ladder match reigns versus

gender carmella versus oscar hey look i didn't

screw the name up this time uh... a .j. versus

nakamura The Raw Women's Championship, Rousey

versus Jax, and then the men's Money in the Bank.

Before we get started, there's something else

I wanted to mention, and that is the... The NXT

paperweight? No, nice try. The exceptionally

unfortunate news of the passing of Vader, or

Big Van Vader, as a lot of people knew him. Vader

wrestled for pretty much everybody, but he was...

I don't know he was probably best known for his

time in the WWF in the 90s however having said

that they never really figured out what to do

with the guy and it's really sad because he was

Way ahead of his time. He was a big man who could

do crazy moves like a moonsault and You know,

he could do stuff off the top rope, which we're

now used to seeing but back then it definitely

didn't happen much and you know as anybody's

you know passing is sad but The fact that yeah,

he never got the run. He probably deserved uh...

is really unfortunate in the nineties but he

still had a great career and he's definitely

well remembered and he was really a trailblazer

for the big men we see now and then i'll talk

about uh... the nxt pay per view in the weekend

was utterly amazing so there So yeah, it's funny

because as you're saying this JR posted in his

event that's happening in August It's live with

JR and the King. It's their two -man show that

they're apparently taking on the road now. He

just posted about Vader I don't know if we want

to go to that or not. I know exactly where it

is. It's over in Rosemont, Hawaii. which is where

i went to go see the black stone cherry concert

but anyway so yeah monster in the bank or money

in the bank if you want to be daniel bryant versus

uh the big ass that feels uncalled for given

his later stuff so uh by the way we're skipping

the pre -show which i don't care the tag titles

didn't change uh i didn't even watch the pre

-show That wasn't bad this time. So anyway, um

brian versus cas was actually good match. It

was probably cas's best Singles match Uh in or

that I can remember Yeah, and now part of that

is obviously brian's really good. Uh brian won

clean And now we know kind of why he won all

these clean because big cas is unemployed. Um

So that's unfortunate You have no future endeavors

cast. We're sorry. Yeah, I know they didn't even

wish him well or anything like that So they were

obviously really ticked off at him. There's been

a lot of theories. I don't really care to Bring

them up. All I'll say is just I feel bad for

the guy like he was All I know is what was on

screen and on screen You know all I know for

sure on screen. He was improving He you know

wasn't as you know wasn't a top Guy or anything

yet, but he had a lot of ways to go and he wasn't

he's not an old He is not old so he's got time

to get there and yeah, I don't know just for

whatever whatever happened they Didn't want him

around yeah, I wanted to be in the know on this

so oh my god I see if you and Mike actually look

at a wrestling story The one article I saw was

reported by Sports Illustrated, which if that's

not a better source, I don't know what is. ESPN

maybe, but whatever. Something about him drinking

all the time. Yeah, I read that too. He apparently

went, he did something they told him not to during

a segment where he beat up the little person.

yeah he wasn't supposed to and just some other

other stuff like he did whatever he did yeah

he didn't do he didn't do a lot of stuff that

uh got him in good with management i'll say apparently

not no yeah so uh listen listen to your boss

if he tells you to not do something don't go

do that exactly doesn't matter what you do exactly

Sammy Zane versus Bobby Lashley. Lashley pounded

the hill out of his head. Well, again, we know

why now, because Zane's out for quite some time.

Is he really? I did not notice. So he's been

injured for a while, which explains all these

terrible segments and everything. Although that's

the writer's fault. I don't think I've made it

a secret that I'm a fan of Sammy Zane. I think

he's a great worker. And when they give him at

least decent stuff to work with... he turns it

into better than decent and he turns good into

great but they give him absolute garbage this

feud has been the worst feud all year it's terrible

lashley's done nothing since coming back which

is really unfortunate and yeah this this didn't

help either because this wasn't a good match

and again part of it too probably because zane

is limited uh but also lashley's offense is kind

of boring i mean his finisher is a vertical suplex

yeah i mean i just uh give him back the spear

which we'll get talked to about maybe in raw

briefly but yeah just uh whatever uh who else

is currently okay roman's using the spear but

it's roman reigns like They need to see that's

the thing with Roman like they need to come up

with a unique finisher for him And like you said

give Lashley the spear back or something Then

we went to guitar boy against the the Kingslayer

so there's Elias versus Seth Holy shit a match

where Elias actually wrestles Yeah, why this

can look good a parent one again Rawlings could

have a good match with me and I suck So I wouldn't

I would be below zero stars really in a wrestling

ring But anyway, yeah Rollins could have a good

match with a sock Elias though. Yeah, he looked

good in this and Man is Elias over slash popular

slash hated whatever you want to he's somewhere

in between He's that guy you love to hate but

not in the way like you were saying to me off

air about one of the NXT superstars about how

that's the villain, that's the - Yeah, Tomás

Ciampa is the prototype, like, absolute villain

that, like, unless you're nuts, uh, or you know

the guy, you're probably not gonna cheer for

him, because he's just a terrible human being

as his wrestler persona. And Elias is - Elias

is kind of the funny bad guy, like, he's good

at being humorous, and so you kind of want to

- Sometimes pull for him because he made you

know He had a song where he made fun of Chicago

and I thought it was amusing that half the crowd

was chanting We deserve it and then the other

half was saying no, we don't Yeah, that was crazy

but holy cow is Seth Rollins good to Nobody's

amazement. He's really just he wins this not

cleanly Which I guess was the setup for the next

night which will again we'll talk about in a

bit but And then there was the women's money

in the bank The match itself was good I thought

it was very good like there were a couple of

instances where you could clearly see They were

waiting for something to happen but again this

is the second ever women's match and there were

some really good spots in it i thought it was

really well constructed and really really well

performed do uh i understand especially a day

later why alexa won right but yeah i would have

given it to somebody else that's what i understand

why i feel yeah because the issue was they didn't

want rousey to win the belt yet right didn't

want naya to be the one who loses it yet because

she's only had it for a bit so what's the way

around that and i guess this is in the bank yeah

and i guess that's what they decided they just

i understand why they did it i just don't necessarily

agree with why they did it yeah again if they

if like i understand about rousing not getting

it yet and i am not actively losing it but the

way they promoted the second annual women's money

in the bank match was that you know every woman

for herself all this all that Sasha has her reasons

this person has their reasons that person has

their reasons and then they come out and have

not in them not in the match itself, but the

raw or smack that's Smackdown the Smackdown the

last Smackdown before money in the bank They

had the iconics come out and say oh none of those

women deserve to be in that match They're more

talented basically meaning themselves, which

they're not I'm sure they are but the characters

are whatever And it's like, okay, give it to

Alexa, sure. We think maybe Alexa might bite

her time, but if anyone knows Alexa Bliss, she

ain't gonna bite shit. Like, I was - Yeah, and

Alexa's really good, don't get me wrong. Oh,

she's very good. She's been in the main event

for a while, and they have a lot of women who

are insanely talented that they could have just

used, and I know - Uh, so I mean, Charlotte's

quite busy with stuff away from wrestling. She's

kind of their poster girl slash poster woman,

uh, who's doing a lot of charity and all this

other stuff. So, okay, fine. Uh, then you've

got they, well, Rousey's on raw. So nobody from

smackdown is going to win. So you can immediately

cross them off the list. Then you've got. well

then what if you got left so Sasha they didn't

want because they wanted to continue the Sasha

Bailey thing which by the way they could have

just had Bailey in this match that probably would

have helped but whatever I was like where the

hell is Bailey what the hell happened to that

whole thing I don't know in any case uh yeah

i'm not big on the finish as in who won but it

was a really good and entertaining match that

was worth watching and i think it's interesting

to watch as the women get better at this because

this was better than the first money in the bank

match that carmela won uh ending notwithstanding

of that one either but i mean this one was pulled

off a lot better overall yeah and yeah i just

i thought it was really well done. I'm excited

to see the women continue. We mentioned that

a year ago that it's nice that they're actually

getting the opportunities to do the same matches

the men have and they pulled off a very good

one here. The only other downer I'd say is eight

people is too much for a match. Oh, absolutely.

I'm not a fan of the four versus four stuff or

more that happens in tag or uh... survivor series

and some of the others because just too many

people to put on a convincing match you always

got to have people stalling or not doing anything

or whatever for a while uh... an eights i feel

like too many if this had had six i honestly

believe it would have been close to the same

level of skill or entertainment as the men's

this year yeah absolutely although the men's

has a specific mvp who will mention he's a very

large man so um and then there's the carmella

osco match because we can skip over the bathroom

match right like we don't need to talk about

reigns and i don't want to crap on it because

the two of them it didn't the two of them didn't

mesh and that happens we mentioned it with orton

And Mahal, and we've had a few guys that - Mahal

doesn't mess with anybody. Like, everyone he's

wrestled, the only one he messed with, because

he only fought him like once or twice, is when

Jeff Hardy took the belt off of him. Like, that

was really the only - I think he'd work against

Sam. I think Jinder and AJ could potentially

be strong. I think there's guys he could work

with, but Reigns isn't necessarily one of them,

and that's not a slight on either of them. It

just happens. Like, Jinder's - Style is very

much the old style like Bobby rude wrestles.

Actually the two of them probably put on a good

match, too But yeah this one The other problem

is this feud is sucked Yeah, we talked about

it last week Rains is in a holding pattern Until

the belt shows up. Yeah We all know it. We all

know he's gonna win. He's gonna win at Summer

slam obviously, and then Braun's gonna pin him

and take the belt so that everyone's not mad.

They're gonna do the exact same thing with him

that they've done before, but at least the belt

will be on weekly, so that helps everybody. But

still, feuds like this don't help anybody. I

don't think it's as bad a match as people have

said. I do think it sucks that the crowd was

obviously not into it. We got Chance for Jericho,

Chance for Zia Punk. This match sucks. This match

sucks. There were Gargano, Ciampa, Chance from

the night before, which to be fair was amazing.

I don't blame them for that one. And if you're

a fan, listen. I know I've been frustrated with

how Reigns has been written but I I don't disrespecting

the guy who's just trying to put on the best

show he can despite the crap writing for him

is not the way to do it like I legit they feel

for the guy I he has talent he has quite a bit

of talent but he's written so poorly that I understand

the reaction to him and I feel it too because

whenever he wins I just kind of roll my eyes

I don't know I feel so bad for him and then he

gets involved in crap feuds like this and yeah

Mahal it feels like has a he has two problems

one his character is super one -dimensional and

kind of boring and then two his wrestling is

one -dimensional and kind of boring so He has

a very limited number of guys he can have great

feuds with and Roman is not on that list Oscar

Carmela, this is another one that I am so disappointed

I am so like I am more pissed off about this

then And like all of the low blows that AJ and

Nakamura have done leading up to - I am so pa

- like, this is your fault, actually. Me? Yeah,

you. You're like, oh, Asuka is the best ever,

and she is, but oh my god, oh my god, you need

to watch her, you need to watch - And I'm watching

her, and I'm enjoying Asuka and everything else,

and then this little bitch from Staten Island

comes in, and this other little bitch from wherever

the hell that little bitch is from comes in and

does something really stu - I thought they let

him go. Wasn't there a deal? Yeah, they brought

him back for this. Why? Like, this... Well, listen.

The thing between Asuka and Carmella and James

Ellsworth, this can work as long as the bad guy

gets his comeuppance. That's the whole thing

with wrestling. It's good versus bad. But generally,

the bad guy... Just like in a movie or something

the bad guy's gonna have something bad happen

to him He might he might win in the end or something

like that But there's got to be some sort of

comeuppance and there wasn't last time like Becky

They should add Becky Lynch beat the shit out

of James Ellsworth yeah I think people would

have been a lot more okay with him being around

if he had actually got his comeuppance but it

was kind of bullshit that nothing happened to

him for all the bad stuff he did and all the

cheating and everything else if they do this

in a way that at least Oscar beats the crap out

of Ellsworth, it can work. But if they ignore

it again, and they try to drag this out, it won't

be bad. Also, yeah, I feel really bad about I

feel really bad about brain freeze. Oscar, thank

you, please. Because she's really good and a

great worker. She is too good to be in this feud.

Yeah, and it's really weird that they don't want

to put the belt on her. I don't understand Why

are they yeah? Do they do they want to have a

big thing with her and Charlotte again? Maybe

and they're kind of waiting for Charlotte to

come back. I don't get it What I would love to

see because they're so different two things I'd

love to see Kyrie saying come up and have it

be Kyrie versus Asuka or yes but but Oscar versus

Rhonda yeah I think that's something that's in

the future too because Oscar's done actual MMA

wrestling before and that would be really interesting

and obviously you know Rhonda can take a hit

so that would be a pretty stiff match Mean yeah,

that would be nice. I yeah, I just don't know

what they're doing with her right now It feels

it's the same sort of thing. We talked about

with Brock. It feels like a It feels like a holding

pattern. Yep, and it's not good like WWE has

so much talent on main roster in NXT all this

stuff you bring these people up look at Asuka

She did all this amazing stuff in NXT which not

taking away from any of that she was Undefeated

for God knows how long and I get it streaks must

end I understand that look at what happened to

the undertaker we get it Okay, but they built

her up and built her up and built her up just

to have her be torn down and then basically I

Don't know not necessarily thrown aside, but

basically Like she has to prove herself again

Also didn't like the match cuz like she spent

the entire thing getting beat up basically It

was a weird decision now having said all that

before we move on. I do just want to say Carmela's

wrestling's gotten way better She's not one of

the top or anything like that, but she's improved

a ton and it should be Yeah, I definitely should

be noted that She's obviously worked hard on

it and it shows it's interesting to me by the

way of the three members of soft from NXT she's

the only one still employed and the only one

that's held it held a belt at all That's interesting.

Yeah, she's improved same with Alexa by the way

Alexa improved a hundred times After she got

to the main roster bronze another one. Yeah and

now for two guys who don't need any improvement

whatsoever because holy cow well one guy can

work on his uh on his english um a little bit

well that's the gimmick but yeah yeah like akamora

has a heel by the way has been delightful now

part of that his stuff with jeff hardy on the

tuesday night was great yeah it was uh he is

really done well. He's a guy that it seems like

can succeed at anything. They didn't know what

to do with him when he came up so he was kind

of a boring Baby face and they never let him

talk or really do much. Yeah, but since he's

turned heel he's been great I actually feel like

he should have won this no offense to AJ who

obviously I'm a huge fan of but you got a figure

if AJ wasn't on the cover of WWE 2k19 he would

have lost Exactly. Yeah, because Nakamura deserves

it. I think you'll probably end up beating Jeff.

So you hold some type of gold But this was a

fun match i thought anyway i love macamorra's

kinda dancing between moves especially when he

was clearing off the tables and just uh... the

two guys it's two guys who are great into guys

that are creative so it's fun to see them kind

of move around and use the outside in well and

we should we should mention the reason why that

was being done is because this was a last man

standing match And I forgot that last men's standing

matches are 10 counts. Yep. I completely forgot

about that. I'm like, why are they? Oh, right.

No, I love the match. I think the match was really

done well. I love AJ in all his moves and everything

else. I just hope now that this is over with.

Yeah, well, I mean obviously it is yeah, I know

I know I'm saying I just hope now that this is

went You know now that this is over with Nakamura

can go on to do other things and obviously AJ

will go on to do other things Yeah, yeah, they've

both it's nice too that they both had direction

right after this. Yes, like on smack That's one

thing that they've done a really terrible job

of Lately when they're doing yeah is there's

no direction for people after they win they just

kind of leave and then they have no feud or whatever

well these two jumped straight into good feuds

yeah exactly for AJ and that makes me happy and

it's two guys that both deserve to have good

feuds because Nakamura and AJ their matches were

poor because of dumb writing like the whole i'm

gonna kick you in the balls 18 times stuff which

is obviously done with after this That was silly

and their matches ended up being kind of silly

because it revolved around that but This being

the end works out. Well, I'd like to see them

have a match maybe in a year or two Right like

just to do it over again But obviously not anytime

soon and it doesn't look like they will so works

out Well, I'm pretty happy with how that turned

out and you had mentioned the fuse that they're

going into AJ is going into something with Rusev

Yep, Nakamura like you said earlier is going

Jeff Hardy thing two other guys like Rusev can

wrestle and is extremely talented Jeff Hardy

Does anything need to be said about Jeff Hardy?

He's going straight into the Hall of Fame. He's

one of the best Ever I recently I recently went

to GameStop and I picked up my pre -order for

the Hardy boys to pack my own for the Funko pops

my only complaint about it is though it's modern

jeff and modern matt which means it has that

white streak in his hair i wish it was more classic

jeff and uh they'll do yeah they'll do with classics

i'm sure they will absolutely i'm sure that they

will um they needn't they should do everybody

from that era there should be a classics edge

and christian classics hardy and then a classic

douglies yeah i don't even know if they've done

dudley boy i don't know yeah the three like the

three insto hall of fame tag teams that put tag

team wrestling on the map again uh so thinking

of putting things on the map rousy and jacks

and holy shit can rousy wrestle oh my god this

was actually good like until the so yeah and

so we had till the end this was by far the best

night of the match our best match of the night

yeah anyway yeah they uh rousey's really good

and her and jack's work really well together

surprisingly uh and then bliss interfered and

bliss won but people already know that at this

point we talked about that decision earlier but

yeah i'm impressed so rousey for some reason

both rousey and punk uh went in opposite directions

obviously but both of them went to follow their

dreams and I applaud both of them obviously Rousey's

had more success with no nothing not trying to

say anything bad about Phil Brooks slash CM Punk

but I mean Rousey oh Rousey has taken to wrestling

like crazy she has she's brought her style to

it not just conform to a certain style of wrestling

i'm really impressed with her and it's scary

to think that she's probably going to keep getting

better as time passes so i mean good for her

and good for you know all of them cm punk james

ellsworth as well for following and sticking

with their dreams and each of them got to do

it which is amazing But yeah, Rousey is inevitably

one of those people that's kind of the future

of the division. So is Charlotte's, Asuka to

a certain extent as well, and Ember Moon. And

then they're just surrounded by amazing talent,

because you still have Becky, Bailey, Sasha,

et cetera, et cetera. The women's division is

on fire right now. It's stacked. And unlike the

men's, they actually have a belt they can chase

after. Which I think helps them a lot now having

said that they seem to be wanting to keep the

belt in a holding position which But whatever

Yeah, but Rousey Jax outside of the Alexa just

outside of the Alexa interference slash DQ This

match what like I wasn't sure how this was going

to look but basically it looked like an MMA fighter

taking down a giant. Like, looking at Rousey

and looking at Jax, I know this isn't obviously

the case, but looking at the two of them, Naya

basically looked like a female version of Andre.

Like, just... sizing the two of them up side

by side just oh my god and that's how they should

be and that's how they should be pitching jacks

like i was annoyed with the whole bliss feud

where for some reason the bully thing i hate

that well there's that and then for some reason

jacks was kind of the underdog or something like

what whatever anyway it's nuts alright so men's

money in the bank Monster in the bank. That's

all that needs to be said. I mean the monster

got it So we had Joe Ballard Rusev Owens Rude

the Miz Strowman and Kofi was the new day Yeah,

I forgot that Bobby Rude was in this I really

was kind of an after so after thought by the

way quick note on Kofi by the way Kofi and then

we had biggie versus Daniel Bryan on Tuesday.

Man, you forget how good each member of the New

Day is at just wrestling. Sometimes, like with

all the backstage skits and some of the other

stuff they do. But Big E and Daniel Bryan made

SmackDown worth watching in and of itself. It

was well done. And then yeah, Kofi was quite,

everybody here was quite good. the highlights

oh I mean I think you gotta mention Kevin Owens

is insane he's nuts so he had I mentioned it

last week he took a drop that's roughly the same

as Mick Foley's yeah I gets the same distance

and yeah just oh some I mean he lands and then

that's that's it he is out of the match at that

point and by the way they did a great job on

Monday or sorry he did a great job on Monday

of selling the injuries because you notice every

time he did anything he seemed to be in horrible

pain having said that he's probably actually

in horrible pain horrible pain I feel really

like oh I hope he gets something out of this

like he legitimately he's been a workhorse he

and Seth have been the workhorses on Raw for

a while now you count the number of times that

Owens or Rollins have been in more than one match

on a Raw in the last little while and then all

the other stuff they've had to do have been insanely

impressed with both of them they both deserve

a long sort of title rain or pay increase or

something out of it because anyway yeah like

I said last week anyone that actively dislikes

Kevin Owens There's something mentally wrong

with you because the reason why I say I'm not

not saying I'm not saying that person's opinion

is wrong I'm saying there's something mentally

wrong with you like I didn't get Kevin Owens

at first until I started watching him and then

yeah I kind of like Chris and I kind of like

Kevin I love them together because it was awesome,

but it was one of those things where Kevin Owens

He's a guy. He's a wrestler that you don't see

anymore But you you've said several times where

he's shouting at the how often Nowadays do the

wrestlers actually shout back. He's talkative.

Yeah, he interacts constantly He's always doing

something like he never just sort of stands there

or unless he's absolutely dead Obviously in this

time in this case. He was demanded to lay there

Probably because he was dead But yeah, and so

the for the rest of the match, I mean, I wanted

to highlight that, but I thought everybody looked

good. I loved the stuff with Miz trying to desperately

to climb up before Braun could get to him. I

really liked that. I loved the spot after Owens,

by the way, where Braun just runs through the

ladder. Like it was Rusev and Rude are trying

to clothesline him with a ladder and he just

goes through it breaking the ladder and both

of them Yeah, and then Miz is desperately trying

to climb the ladder just to get away from him

poor Miz Yeah, I thought Miz is fun to watch

just cuz yeah, he's such a he's so good at being

such a coward and We had yeah, anyway, go ahead

since you're you're talking about the Miz I'm

pretty sure this is a no from you because you

don't you're not you're not Mike Dodd you don't

watch this stuff but would you give a shot to

the first episode of Miz and Mrs later this year

when it premieres I don't know maybe it will

Haven't seen the Miz on reality TV since the

real world no He plays his character so well.

Oh he does all the time. Yeah, absolutely Yeah,

I just absolutely love there I've said this before

on the show in the last three years There are

certain times when certain wrestlers that I like

that go up against each other I like if it's

Miz and John Cena. I'm gonna want John to win

half the time because i'm a guy who are seen

a fan of apologize for but it's not is goes up

against anybody else i'm like sure go ahead the

only time i get down is is when you know he does

like the cowardly thing of you know trying to

cheat to win dirty things like that that's really

what's going on but see i don't mind because

it makes sense for him it's he's really good

at doing that uh... But yeah men's money in the

bank it was Braun Strowman coming away with it

all like he said he would and I really Hope it's

an extreme rules Brock and brawn because this

is giving me what I've wanted the whole fucking

time Well, I mean we don't know I mentioned before

I don't think bronze showing up at extreme or

brawn Sorry, I don't think Brock's showing up

at extreme rules He should I'd be amazed if Roman

doesn't win at extreme rules Then we get Brock

v. Roman yet again at summer slam and like I

said before Roman wins then he gets drilled by

stroman who cashes in and takes the build at

summer slam yep that's my guess yeah i i can

see that working but i really want brock and

brock like hello like monster versus beast like

they can market the hill out of that Yeah, I

mean we had it once already. I wouldn't mind

if they did it again. I thought the first match

was not great But Stroman was still in his learning

phase, I think So yeah, we'll see but Is this

worth it? That ladder's gotta be 50 feet in the

air. Good God. Don't do this, Kevin. This is

not worth it. Strowman fighting out, though.

And Braun Strowman fighting out of harm's way.

Kevin Owens is still on top of the ladder. Oh,

no. Yeah, you better get down, Kevin. Meanwhile,

Strowman's going up the other side. Ron caught

Kevin halfway, no, no, no. He's dragging Kevin

Owens up to the top of the ladder. Strowman's

dragging Owens to the top of the ladder. I don't

like the looks of this. I told you! I told you!

Oh my God! Oh my God! Strowman just threw him!

hey speaking of which next up was raw which let's

just talk about the first hour of raw because

the last stuff wasn't great although I'm not

gonna lie Corbin come the Constable Corbin thing

especially with him wrestling in his suit that's

that's growing on me I like that that was amusing

I wasn't sure where they were gonna go with Constable

Corbin Corbin but I like where they're going

with it Also to give him full credit by the way,

he was the workhorse in that match because they

had Owens Selling the horrible injuries from

the night before so he couldn't do a whole lot

and Yeah, so Corbin kind of had to be the workhorse.

He did a really good job. He Definitely seems

to be improving and by the way, he seems to just

look better without the hair Yeah, he does know

what it is. But yeah, he just it's a better look

for him. So anyway absolutely does yeah the first

hour of raw was great the rest of it not so much

so the first hour we had Alexa comes out and

does her usual Alexa thing which is she runs

everybody down and then angle comes out to talk

to her and then Rousey comes out and destroys

everybody that was great that is exactly how

they need to use Rousey it was perfect she was

great in it that was one of the most vicious

beatdowns they've had in a while too they did

a good job of making everything look good so

that was nice and sadly she's now suspended for

30 days yeah so like it always irks me to the

thing of the fake firings, the real firings,

the fake suspensions, the real, like, what storyline

and what isn't? And obviously the news sites

are reporting that yes, she is suspended for

30 days, but was anything she did really as bad

as anything anybody else has done in the last

40 frigging years? No, but I mean, it's the,

yeah, it's the old, if you see it on WWE TV,

it's not real. If they read about it like Cass

is firing they did notice they didn't mention

Cass. Yeah on smackdown So again another sign

that man for whatever happened, they're really

not happy with them Yeah, so I don't know I liked

this whole thing though and It was interesting

to see her also rough up angle at the same time

which You know, I wonder if I don't know is he

gonna turn against their leader We'll see but

yeah, I liked it. See that's the whole thing

now like we have this whole Shift of power where

you don't have the authority you don't have steph

and triple h doing stuff stephanie is there kind

of because like you said she shows up once in

a while but yeah it's not it's not weekly anymore

thankfully anymore which is good but my thing

is like when they rebranded and whatever and

you know they had shane and stef be commissioners

and then they had the general managers They're

still kind of promoting Angle as the general

manager, but now they've got this Constable Corbin

thing. The problem with the GMs, especially when

it's Steph and Hunter, is that, again, it's like

what I was talking about before with James Ellsworth.

They get to be bad and do bad things, but there's

never any comeuppance. So like Steph goes around

and berates everybody and is just a jerk to everyone.

She gets what's coming to her once a year at

most, but never from people who she's like really

abused. You know, Kurt Angle didn't get to necessarily,

well, he did a bit, but better examples are guys

like Rollins or even Reigns, who she berated

for months, but they never get to do anything

with her. Like it's rare and so you end up with

somebody who's untouchable the thing with Corbin

is obviously yeah, they can do stuff with them,

you know if Corbin's a jerk to Say Finn Balor

repeatedly they can get into the ring and have

a match and that works But yeah when they don't

This storyline just kind of goes nowhere So yeah,

that was but yeah, that was the best opening

Ross had in a while and they actually continued

it too because they had the Intercontinental

title match next with holy cow it's Dolph Ziegler

having a match on tv that's a nice change of

pace yep and then Rollins first of all the Ziegler

McIntyre stuff's been great so far and a lot

of people have said it's a lot like Shawn Michaels

and Diesel yeah kind of uh the difference is

I think uh no offense to kevin nash but he found

himself in wcw um i really think mackintyre is

better than diesel was at that point in pretty

much most ways like mackintyre has universal

champ written on the guy at some he's got a great

look he's an insanely hard worker now and he

can talk and he and Ziegler work great together

I was surprised that Ziegler won and you know

he won with the roll up and I don't know I'm

surprised to see Rollins lose but him going after

the belt makes sense it'll be interesting to

see if McIntyre is the one he's kind of got to

try to fight through because that'd be a good

way to elevate McIntyre so I don't know, but

no, it was like, it was so good. Money in the

bank wasn't like the best pay -per -view, but

it wasn't the worst pay -per -view either. There

were plenty of things here that we, you know.

Oh yeah, right. I should actually finish with

the rating. I was so excited about the first

hour of raw not being terrible for once that,

and then the rest of raw was not great. Elias'

promo was good and the finish was pretty good.

Other than that, blah. Oh, and they finally pulled

the trigger on this Sasha Banks versus Bailey,

which I mean It's nice to see and the two of

them will put on a great match But you teased

it for like a year and he didn't do a good job

of it. It's not it's not exactly Chiampa Gargano

here. So yeah, true Anyway, yeah, sorry. So Yeah,

what rating would I give money in the bank? It

was good. I would say a solid four. It was one

of the better ones this year, and it seems like

an apology for backlash. i'm gonna give it a

three and a half the whole reigns mahal thing

oh that's true yeah and sammy and uh bobby was

not good i want bobby to be good i want sam to

be good i just don't think they can do it together

because like you said sammy's kind of injured

right now and he's got his you know he's doing

all these stupid skit things yeah and well that's

the other problem is there's not a nice way to

say this but bobby is best when he's not on the

mic and they let him be a monster because i mean

look at the guy Like, he's one of the few guys

who if he lifted up Stroman and threw him, I

could actually believe it. The guy is jacked.

So just let him come out and be a badass or something,

and they keep giving him a mic, and then they

have him debating Roman Reigns on Monday, which

yeah, there's a great idea. Those are the two

guys who I want to have a mic in their hands

in the ring. Oh boy. Anyway. Anyway, so yeah

three and a half and a four for money in the

bank Before we get out of here before I preview

what's coming up next time. I? Notice because

I follow good old Jr. Jim Ross on Facebook Here

in Illinois in Rosemont at zany's comedy club

on August 23rd. It's gonna be live with Jr. And

the king I really want to go to this, but I don't

think I'll be able to The voice of the Attitude

Era, bold, uncensored, and live, Jim JR Ross

and Jerry the King Lawler formed the most iconic

broadcast duo in professional wrestling history

during the Attitude Era. The most famous of its

kind, JR and the King took over the TV screens

of millions of fans watching around the world

from broadcasting matches of Stone Cold and The

Rock to Chris Jericho and Mick Foley. Their voices

are synonymous with the Attitude era. The duo

recently worked together at a WrestleMania 34

in New Orleans and at WWE's Greatest Royal Rumble

in Saudi Arabia. Live with Jaren the King is

a unique comprehensive two -man show that offers

fans an in -depth perspective of the world of

professional wrestling Commencing with a storytelling

of wrestlers past and present the show transitions

to a no holds barred unfiltered Q &A I want to

go to this. I don't know if I will be going to

this because It's You should go and have a meet

and greet for our show if we have any listeners.

That's why I said it's expensive. So in order

to get the meet and greet, the VIP passes. No,

I meant with our listeners, not the meet and

greet with them. Oh, well, damn. And by say listeners,

I mean listener. Yeah, Alex would have to come

down from Canada. uh... listen to it uh... was

the other thing there was one other thing uh...

also one of the things that they promoting the

hell out of now is this uh... greatest show in

australia or something Yeah, so they're doing

the same sort of thing they did with India only

in Australia And no disrespect meant to Australia,

which is a great place and I've been to it They're

probably not gonna have the same amount of emphasis

on it because I mean the India India holy shit,

I mean Saudi Arabia what is wrong with me today?

So anyway, the Saudi Arabia stuff was trying

to essentially pitch the brand and plant the

flag there. They've already kind of got a flag

planted in Australia, so I don't know that it's

necessarily going to have the same emphasis.

Although, holy cow, one of the matches scheduled

is Triple H versus The Undertaker. Yep. Which,

oof, that's... Wow, that's surprising. Wasn't

expecting to ever see that again. Triple H versus

Taker, Cena versus... I'm not sure. I don't remember

what it is either. I didn't know we were going

to talk about it. I don't know, folks. But yeah,

it's interesting that they're going to be doing

a pay -per -view style event there again. Don't

mind it because the greatest royal rumble was

just kind of a fun extra like it happened a Friday

afternoon And we knew there wasn't gonna be a

whole lot of real major stuff going on Yes, sir.

It's the only thing that's for sure is the Triple

H versus Undertaker But rousy Shawn Michaels

is supposed to be there If Daniel Bryan they

have the big show. I don't think Michaels is

gonna wrestle But who knows thank you well either

I'd be amazed if he did I know he's expressed

some level of interest in NXT potentially which

wow that would be pretty interesting but yeah

Like I said, I don't mind it. It's probably gonna

be sort of just a fun event the same way the

Greatest row rumble was so Well, he's on he's

on the poster for it and To be fair. There's

a lot of people on the poster for it But yeah

for the most part, I mean There's most of the

people that are on it are people that are likely

to show up except for I think Orton had surgery

so he may be out although he might be there with

a mic or something that doesn't necessarily mean

anything so we'll see. Like I said I just think

it's a fun kind of thing to do and I don't mind

if they do these once in a while if it starts

becoming every month Then it's just yet another

pay -per -view and they may as well have just

kept the smackdown and Raw pay -per -views because

they'd be having to a month anyway. Yeah, it's

Coming up next in episode 42 because number 42

is the answer to everything we're gonna be talking

about The next one but uh... w w e twenty four

or w w e three sixty five it is w w e twenty

four on the party boys woken so that'll be the

next episode of that after that'll be extreme

rules or something else i i don't know what this

is going to be something between money in the

bank uh... parties woken Obviously setting up

for extreme rules because it is only a month

away. It feels likely when they say it on the

shows It's like oh extreme rules is four weeks

away or three weeks away Yeah time goes fast

quick though for wrestling I mean It's funny

how quickly the time passes yet you watch a three

hour raw or a seven hour pay -per -view and then

the time feels so much slower Especially when

Roman Reigns is fighting stuff. Yeah, that's

my son It's not his fault like his stuff with

Cena was great because Cena would go after him

Cena's not gonna apologize for it. But like his

stuff with Stroman was strong, too Like he said

really was in the last little bit But yeah, Mahal

is not he's me. I hope they decide to change

his character at this point and get rid of that

fucking sing idiot I Mean it can be done. Well,

but yeah, he's gonna stop they gotta stop using

him the exact same way every single match Yeah

The fat like the whole point of the Singh brothers

was that they both said the whole you know Maharaja

thing together and off -key Having only one guy

there. Just sounds creepy I think you can still

have managers and people helping and that kind

of thing. I mean, I look at Aiden English and

Rusev and I think that works. Yeah, that works

because Aiden English is his own person. The

whole point for me with the Singh brothers is

that they're brothers. They almost, I don't know

if they are twins, but they kind of look a little

bit alike to me. Yeah, they don't have personalities.

They haven't been given the chance to do anything.

That's true. They are the basically... kick -ass

managers where what I mean by that is Someone

comes in and kicks their ass. They're essentially,

you know, yeah rag dolls They're they're what

Jamie Noble used to be Yeah, basically just throw

them around the ring. That's all they are Alright,

so that's gonna do it for this episode of mayhem
