Editorial Standards & Practices
Effective Date: September 29, 2025 | Last Updated: June 3, 2026
At TheGCRN.com, we are committed to delivering honest, accurate, and high-quality pop culture coverage across our podcast network and written editorial. The following standards govern everything we publish, broadcast, and distribute under the GCRN name.
Jump to: Accuracy | Sourcing | Corrections | Independence | Embargoes & NDAs | Disclosures | Conflicts of Interest
1. Accuracy & Verification
Our editorial and hosting teams strive for factual accuracy in all news reporting, trailer breakdowns, reviews, and features. Source materials are verified before publication. Content covering unverified industry reports or rumors is explicitly labeled “Rumor” or “Speculation” with clear context. We do not present conjecture as a confirmed fact.
2. Sourcing & Attribution
GCRN strictly prohibits plagiarism in any form. When sourcing breaking news, exclusives, or scoops from other publications, we provide prominent textual credit and a direct hyperlink to the original source. We respect the work of fellow journalists and creators in this space.
3. Corrections Policy
We are accountable for what we publish and broadcast.
- Factual Corrections: When a material error is identified, we correct it promptly. A clear editor’s note is appended to the bottom of the affected content detailing what changed and when. We do not silently delete errors.
- Developing Stories: Breaking news content is marked with timestamped updates as new information becomes available.
- Podcast Episodes: Material errors in published episodes receive a correction notice in the show notes. Where practical, a verbal correction is included in a subsequent episode.

4. Independence & Ethical Conduct
GCRN content is entirely editorially independent. Writers, podcasters, and contributors do not accept financial compensation, personal gifts, or favorable treatment from film studios, comic publishers, game developers, toy manufacturers, or PR firms in exchange for positive coverage, guaranteed placement, or a specific critical angle.
All opinions expressed across our network’s shows and website columns belong solely to the individual creators who expressed them.
5. Embargo & NDA Policy
GCRN honors all embargoes. We receive advance access to content — including streaming series, games, films, and comics — and we take that access seriously.
- All content under embargo is never published, broadcast, publicly discussed, or shared on social media before the agreed-upon lift date and time.
- No confidential details beyond the agreed-upon embargo scope are disclosed under any NDA.
- Early or advanced access to content does not influence our editorial conclusions, scoring, or critical position. A screener does not purchase a positive review.
- Embargo violations by any GCRN contributor are treated as a serious breach of our editorial code.
This policy applies to all content types, including Netflix screeners, studio press kits, advance game builds, and publisher preview copies.
6. Disclosures
- Sponsored Content: All sponsored episodes, segments, and articles are clearly identified on-air and in writing. Sponsored content does not influence the editorial coverage surrounding it.
- Review Assets: Reviews using a complimentary asset (review code, screener link, physical product) disclose this relationship explicitly per FTC guidelines. Example: “A digital review code was provided by the publisher for review purposes.”
- Affiliate Links: Content containing affiliate links is labeled accordingly. Affiliate relationships do not influence editorial recommendations.
- Advertising: Display advertising and host-read sponsorships on TheGCRN.com and our podcast feeds exist entirely separate from our editorial and review operations.
7. Conflicts of Interest
GCRN contributors are expected to disclose any personal or professional relationship with a creator, publisher, developer, or brand they are covering. Where a genuine conflict exists, the contributor recuses from that coverage, or the conflict is disclosed prominently within the content. We do not cover content in which a contributor has an undisclosed financial stake.
