WWE 24: Raw 25 Review

About this Episode
Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the podcast arena
coming to the ring at this time First representing
this week again and from parts unknown he is
Mike the bird man presenting the GeekCast Radio
Network and hailing from the outer reaches of
your mind, he is Mike TFG -1 Lanchard. I got
four words for you. Check out my ass. And from
the Great White North, here is your special guest
referee, Ryan from Manhattan to go to the Barclays
Center for our Raw 25, the anniversary of the
longest -running episodic show in television
history. I'm sure all the people that were fans
of Bonin's are very angry right now, but they
can suck it. languages in over 160 countries
around the world. Thank you very much for inviting
us into your home. There's nothing else like
it. It's great to be back on Monday Night Raw.
I don't think there's any other form of entertainment
that is out there 52 weeks a year for 25 years.
And to this day, it's probably one of the most
important television series on cable television.
My dad has this saying, one of these days will
be an overnight success. And 25 years is a major
accomplishment. hello and welcome to mayhem mics
this is episode thirty nine yeah let's go with
that i am of course tf2 and mike joining me as
per usual ryan the uneven flow merkely hello
sir hello what a great open where you can't remember
what episode we're at yeah well hell i almost
thought last episode the backlash episode i almost
thought i didn't have it like i almost thought
I know we recorded it because we sat through
that train wreck, but of a pay -per -view, not
the recording. But yeah, I almost thought, I
got so screwed up in the head, and like, wait,
wasn't that supposed to be this or was it, I
don't know. But yeah. Well, speaking of losing
track of what episode, this was episode, or recovering
episode, I don't know, 10 billion or whatever,
of Raw, which is the 25th anniversary show. Boy
they or rather we're covering the WWE 24 behind
the scenes of the 25th anniversary Yeah, it's
like it's funny because it's funny because it
just aired before we started recording by the
way on the network Yeah It's yeah raw like Okay,
so there was raw 1000 which was X number of whatever
ago and then whatever Remember when that was
yeah like raw 1000 like when the hell was that
I don't remember That's not good. So this was
the latest in the WWE 24 series where they kind
of go behind the scenes on something Usually
frequently it's someone or whatever, but in this
case, it's just on the episode of 25th anniversary
for off. And, you know, we open with a segment,
just everybody talking about what a milestone
it is. It is a milestone, though. I mean, 25
years of anything. Yeah. Is 25 years of if you
look at sports. 25 years of a football franchise,
baseball, whatever, is a huge amount of time.
The roster has turned over completely over and
over again since then. It's just, just to keep
going that long. And for RAW, which is a weekly
television series, and I don't, it is scripted,
so. To do a weekly show have a script every week
is astounding. It's amazing to me that they don't
have more stinkers than We already have fun.
Yeah, see that's the thing like after watching
this I feel so guilty for for blaming creative
on everything Last recording how tough it is
to Try to Put together something every single
week and every single month and look at any TV
show And even the best seasons of a show There's
gonna be at least one or two stinkers and they
have the advantage of it's not live. They can
record it They can take six months, you know,
they can take time No, these guys have six days.
Yeah, exactly Wow this um I Feel old now Like
besides already feeling old I feel older at this
point because raw 1000 was longer ago than I
thought it was One thing I liked is they mentioned
the fact that And it's Xbox himself who mentions
it that the razor versus one two three kids segment
Was one of the first kind of noteworthy things
to happen on raw right and it is I would say
that's the earliest moment earliest raw moment
that I remember fairly well and Yeah, that seems
forever ago and obviously they show the first
interview with Razor Ramon on raw Because again,
they talked to Scott Hall behind the scenes on
this as well and who that shirt for example Screams
early 90s that he's wearing in the that original
interview I just got a kick out of seeing that
and some of the man things have changed Yeah,
they've changed a lot so Okay, so they're on
like 1300 episodes at this point for raw. I think
somewhere around there. I think I could be wrong
This is crazy to me like it feels like it was
almost yesterday that raw was celebrating the
1000th episode episode one thousand was july
twenty third of twenty twelve that was a long
as time ago and how long last time ago it was
a daily and cm punk were in this episode you
know uh... yeah but raw twenty five for me in
mind i think my When I first started watching
a rock because I didn't watch it Right away.
I didn't watch it when it first debuted. I was
I Was into wrestling, you know by the time I
was 6 and 1986 to the time I was 10 or 11 and
90 or 91 and I kind of got out of it for a few
years I got back in once I kid you not my junior
and senior year history teacher in high school
Mr. Petzold, I will never forget this guy. He
basically emulated Stone Cold. I mean, basically,
dude shaved his head, wore Stone Cold t -shirts
all the time under his, you know, whatever teacher
suits or whatever he had to wear, sweaters, whatever
the hell, but like... He loves Stone Cold Steve
Austin and As soon as I saw Stone Cold I was
like, okay, I got this. This is cool. This is
great You know, we were all talking about Undertaker
and everything else in the match and whatever
not with Stone Cold But just talking about Undertaker
in general and all the matches that he was doing
back then I mean 25 years of the Undertaker that's
At least on raw that's just nuts It's funny to
me that there's a couple guys that are still
active and Jericho is one although Wasn't on
raw at that point. Yeah wasn't Active was raw
man was Jericho on TV yet. Even at that point.
I don't think so, but in any case No, no, no
one raw debuted when raw debuted He wasn't he
came in like the mid 90s. Like I want to say
97 98 Yeah, we debuted with well he debuted in
in terms of television debuted with ECW, okay?
even before the WCW days, but yeah, I can't remember
when that is because I won't but It's so as as
this episode as the WWE 24 goes on they interviewed
people and they show a lot of the backstage stuff
which is fun to see because I mean you get to
see kind of what I think is sort of a writers
or prep room and I mean one thing you forget
too is man how many people work on these shows
weekly as well yep because just that prep room
is is 20 some odd people and then you've got
you know all the people who set up the ring all
the people setting up the and running the cameras
and for raw 25 they had two prep rooms they had
one at barclays and one at uh manhattan center
so yeah there's there's part of me that watches
this and i realize they would have lost out on
money for obvious reasons because the Manhattan
Center is much smaller and because obviously
if you can have two crowds that's more money
than one but there's a part of me that really
wishes they'd just done the Manhattan Center
maybe and even watching this there's so much
that went into the logistics of trying to run
it at two places that right I don't know I kind
of wish they had just done the the one Yeah,
maybe I don't know I See this is the thing yeah,
you're right it it did kind of you know do a
bunch of stuff with You know having all this
to put together, but Here's the thing We complain
about this often. Oh, how are you gonna have?
At the time it wasn't Cole coach and Corey it
was Cole Corey and Booker T, or whoever How are
you gonna have all of those guys plus? JR and
King that's why I liked having it at two places
because get to see JR and King as a broadcast
team again and Really enjoyed them. I think there
was like one remark you still could have just
replaced them for a couple segments Just sort
of swaps them out would have been the same effect.
Yeah When watching this WWE 24 on raw 25 I almost
Almost did a double take and I was like, who's
that guy? It was Michael Cole. I barely recognized
Michael Cole like hit the way he's talking in
this it's not his announcer talk it's not it
is his voice obviously, but just he his voice
is so low in this thing. I'm like damn Okay,
and I forgot that Vince used to do ring announcing
Oh Yes was the voice like I completely forgot
about that so Vince McMahon wasn't a character
until obviously famously the Montreal screw job
just after that that's when they finally acknowledged
that hey the guy who is a ring announcer is actually
the due to runs the company but yes for ever
he was just the announcer and he was an excellent
announcer he was and i love forgotten about that
i love you very good here in this year i love
his voice i'd i'd completely enjoyed it uh...
the if you think about it this is the uh... very
first original undercover boss. So they intersperse
segments and interviews with the people who worked
on working on raw now with pictures and shots
of them in the past. One of the ones that caught
my eye too was Shane. Seeing him 25 years ago.
Yeah. versus now when we know and we've seen
him on camera because we didn't see him back
then obviously but I just find it interesting
he was around and just seeing shots of him I
like some of the behind -the -scenes stuff with
the McMahon macho man doing crap and stuff like
that too was neat to see That's what I mean like
watching that part of the segment with with Vince
and with macho man And then just kind of talking
to each other trying to figure it out and try
to kind of joke around a little bit I guess And
then Vince goes into his announcer voice. I'm
like oh So Vince was the voice of the WWF at
the time Yeah, and that's something I don't think
people should ever forget or not know because
don't get me wrong Michael Cole's a great guy
You know, I mean, I know a lot of people hate
his announcer character, but trust me There are
worse announcers than Michael Cole in the WWE
right now And they fumble a lot But everybody
now is like oh Michael Cole the the broadcast
correspondent for the WWE the the longest announcer
and he kind of has turned into the longest announcer
in the The biggest voice especially for raw because
I think it's only been very rare occasions that
Cole was on smackdown. I Don't remember Cole
being on smackdown all that much No, yeah, I
can't This isn't a show about smackdown. Come
on. No, I know we try to remember other things
The smackdown 25th anniversary is not for a while
so That's true don't worry about it yet not yet
no um but yeah um and seeing the whole like basically
shades of old to compared to new with the whole
Vince Stone Cold Stunner thing basically that
happened 25 years ago the he stunned Shane he
stuns Vince stun Shane stuns Vince now you know
uh well that didn't happen 25 years ago uh that's
just Footage from other raws the stone -cold
character if I remember correctly didn't exist
for that original raw so one of the things So
one of the few things when they intersperse a
lot of these shots that I didn't really like
is I'm trying to think of a nice way to say this
because I don't want to say anything really negative
on this. So I really like the WWE 24 presentation
and it's 52 minutes on the network and it's definitely
worth people checking out and it's fun. The only
negative I have to say about it is since it's
made by WWE productions and it's really not a
documentary or you know they don't really speak
about the original raw it's a lot of it's from
people's recollections and points of view. those
old RAWs were recorded. Right. They weren't aired
live. And B, partially because of that, when
RAW originally debuted, it didn't make a huge
impact. And part of that is because, well, Nitro,
and Nitro was live. And there's just so when
they when they're airing this it's very much
a it's very much wwe putting a positive light
on it when it first aired on usa network all
those years ago though it was vince randy and
rob barton what the hell's his name brad is rob
bartlett that's it were the announcers But it
didn't make a huge impact. It took a little while.
It was 1993 and none of the characters we would
eventually know as part of the attitude era really
were there. There was one, two, three kids. The
Undertaker was part of the attitude era, so that
counts, sorry. But Brett, Mr. Perfect, Razor.
Et cetera, et cetera. Most of those guys, with
the exception of 123Kid, who would, you know,
become... What the hell did they call... Xbox,
geez. That's what happens when you take a nap
before the show. But anyway, it wasn't until
95, is what I'm getting at, and it became raw
as war. Right. Like that first one didn't necessarily
make a huge splash. And that's the only downer
that WWE kind of paints it like this was this
big event. It was a big deal for them. But they
wouldn't go in live and it wouldn't become what
we know more of, what we remember more as Raw
until a little bit later. And it didn't debut
with those characters. Yeah, the Rocky Maivia
wouldn't debut for another few years, for example.
And the Ringmaster was around first, long before
he became Stone Cold Steve Austin. But they were
getting there with this. And these were the first
steps. And it's still fun to see a lot of that
old footage. I just kind of wish they had timestamped
some of it, just because. The first episode didn't
have a whole lot of noteworthy stuff that has
passed into the annals of Wrestling history Yeah,
but as a whole the show differently did I mean
they show a lot of the moments over the years
that have been ridiculously important in wrestling
in January of 1993 WWE premiered their signature
weekly televised program Monday Night Raw 25
years over 1200 episodes later, it is still going
strong. Monday Night Raw will mark a quarter
century on television. It's the longest running
entertainment series on television period. I
mean, it's a huge statement. Raw has been a major
brand in the entertainment industry for so long.
I say it every week, the longest running weekly
episodic television show in history. Think about
that in history. Beating shows like Gunsmoke
and The Simpsons. It's incredible. It's an incredible
milestone. And I think WWE wanted to make it
special. So you'll be there. Oh, I'll be there.
I will be there. The 25th anniversary was exactly
where it needed to be. New York. As the opening
bell, it is World Wrestling Entertainment celebrating
the 25th anniversary of Monday Night Raw. The
Empire State Building recently lighting up red
to mark the occasion. One, two, three. The show
my father created, you know in the city my grandfather
really started it all. It's pretty remarkable.
I'll see you there. yeah absolutely a lot of
the moments that i'm like oh i remember that
i remember that i remember that one too it's
like uh -huh trip down memory lane everybody
and that's good that's you know celebrating the
25th anniversary of raw and that's the way you
should do it um yeah seeing shane back in those
days i'm like oh yeah um that almost looks like
a curt angle comb over right after he shaved
his head um Because you know Shane's hair back
then was really really wacky But I remember I
don't remember exactly where I was but I remember
being in front of a TV in that moment When Shane
bought ECW or whatever it was an ECW or WCW?
It was WCW. Yeah, that's right Vince McMahon
and finally purchased them and It was the the
simulcast raw and nitro briefly and yeah, that
was 2001. Yeah And that was, I remember I watched
it live at that point. Originally I couldn't
watch Raw live because I lived out in the sticks
in 93, but I would get the sort of weekly shows
later that summed up things. So I saw what was
on Raw back then, but I wasn't able to watch
it until I moved out of the country. Sorry, when
I say out of the country I mean out of the sticks,
into a larger city. in 99 and yeah just 98 actually
whatever anyway the yeah the no so another thing
I really enjoyed on this show was the Miz kind
of bookending Mm -hmm the show and him kind of
half being in character Half out of character
beginning to see his experience because he was
one of the guys who he wrestled at? The Berkeley
Center and then had to go to the Manhattan Center
For an interview not to mention to try to bump
up the star power because the poor Manhattan
Center crowd We talked about this during the
show didn't get a whole lot to do until Yeah
until the men showed up And I think my favorite
part of that was seeing the behind the scenes
of like You know seeing all of that and him being
like oh, I have no time to do this I have no
time to do that They're like oh you need to be
here you need to be here you need to be here
so get there get there get there Yeah, I like
that. I enjoyed that What I loved is once he
actually came out and he was in the ring Puts
his hand up because wait. I don't even need to
say it do I? I love that! Well he tells them,
he has them join in with his put your hand up
bit because yeah the crowd is he's exceptionally
popular at that point with the crowd because
these are the hardcore fans who kind of kind
of get it, you know, know that he's a character
and he's been there forever, so. Yeah. Yeah.
And I mean, you know, Mike is a guy that I have
said this plenty of times in the last three years
that we've been doing this podcast. He's a guy
that, at least in my mind, the first time I ever
knew about him was when he was on the real world
on MTV. there was a big thing of him having one
of the replica belts or whatever saying oh one
of these days I'm gonna be a huge WWE's WWF star
or whatever and look at his career now like you
know he managed to yeah and he's still managing
to he he is essentially you know one of the he's
he should he's not like in the same class as
like Hogan or under the giant or he's in his
own class. He's in like the attitude error type
Not really attitude error, but he came at the
tail end of that but like the early 2000s era
kind of a thing No, he's held down the company
and he's been one of the top Heels bad guys,
whatever you want to say or Seemingly ever though.
Yeah. Oh, absolutely. Yeah. I mean, you know,
absolutely he has been and like him, hate him,
whatever, they finally figure, like, WWE creative
doesn't have to do anything with him. He knows
his character, he knows what Vince wants for
the show and for the whatever, and he goes out
and he does it and he gets the job done. And
it's just, I absolutely love it, you know. So
yeah behind the scenes on raw 25 like you said
all the all the camera crews all of the Like
actually seeing inside the raw I don't want to
say war room, but basically the control room
for the TV and how that's all done and Which
we've seen I mean, it's it's nothing super special
We've seen TV controls before but it's very rare
that you know someone that tunes into raw weekly
basis for let's say the last two years that isn't
a lifelong fan but wants to start getting into
it this is something special for them because
how would they know that they've never really
shown this kind of stuff and like I mentioned
a couple episodes ago when we talked about 365
Kevin Owens that Vince was there you know behind
the scenes kind of a thing like I know Shane's
back in the company, Shane's back in this, Shane's
back in that. This heavily featured Shane more
than Stephanie, and I'm surprised at that because
Stephanie is the Monday Night Raw woman, Shane
is the SmackDown guy at this point, but the fact
that it's a whole family affair and that Shane
is there behind the scenes with them, Stephanie
is there behind the scenes with them, and obviously
they would be, but I'm really surprised that
Steph wasn't shown more. Well, they're not always
all together. Obviously, this was a big event
where all of them were going to appear on camera.
Steph is out doing a lot of the PR stuff because
this takes place. So a lot of these stuff that's
filmed, you mentioned it's neat seeing the backstage
area. I was going to say it's neat seeing it
when the show... It's being shown before the
show is started and then kind of getting stuff
ready We generally only ever see it when the
show is on when I show those backstage things.
It's just kind of interesting to see that yeah,
these guys have to work the entire time and It's
not just okay Ross starts in 20 minutes. I can
sit down and take my seat here and start working
right but No, no the entire thing like I said,
it's worth watching for anybody fan at any point
and Yeah, just Going back again and kind of thinking
over all of the years of raw One of my favorite
segments one of my favorite raw moments that
doesn't get a shout out or anything on this is
really recent and That was the festival of friendship
And part of the reason it's on my mind is I went
and I found a complete video of the entire thing
and complete with the commercial break and after
commercial. And I showed it to my girlfriend
who she is not into wrestling at all. And she
asked me at one point, you know, why do you why
do you watch it? And I explained some of it,
but I wanted to show her that particular segment,
because in my opinion, it kind of had everything.
It had the over -the -top aspect of it. It had
the scripted aspect. It had the comedy. It had
improv. You know, you had Owens being kind of
the straight man to Jericho's funny man slash
over -the -topness. And it just worked really,
really well. It was funny that after I showed
it to her, she said, okay, I get it now. It's
entertaining and I think anybody who isn't into
wrestling can enjoy that so It's just one of
those things I think of when I watch something
like this that encompasses all of it All of the
different eras that I watched wrestling in And
I just think about okay, which segments do I
remember? Which kind of means something to me
and of the old ones they did show I mentioned
it before I remember the when one two three kid
beat razor Ramon and That was one of the early
wrestling memories. I have from the 90s and stuff
that I Something that I remember and something
that I over the years Remember being a pretty
big deal because that was the first time Xbox
Sean I'm all Waltman whatever you want to call
him was a Big deal because one two three kid
was pretty much just a job guy. He would just
go out and get beat right Yeah, and that was
Vince's whole thing was he wanted you to watch
her on because he never knew what would happen
And that was the first time something Really
important kind of happened on it. So maybe that's
why I remember it so well, obviously I've got
a ton of other ones like first time stone cold
debuted that raw after the huge Face slash heel
swap in the match between he and Brent's and
just I Considered list a ton of different ones
Jericho's debut uh... they did briefly show the
festival of friendship though yeah i did get
a you get a small and that's because um... jericho
was essentially behind the seat that's the thing
jericho wasn't that he was on raw twenty five
but he was behind he was in the backstage area
he specifically says in this that's what he wanted
to do for it because a that's one of that is
one of the coolest things to me outside of the
athleticism outside of the matches outside of
whatever storylines going on in the ring outside
the ring it was always great to see who's gonna
pop up like nowadays don't get me wrong reyong
is a great interviewer or whatever else but you've
got it all set up and good whoever she's gonna
interview whoever charlie caruso's gonna it doesn't
matter which interviewer it is So they try to
make it special when like Roman or whomever it
doesn't necessarily have to be Roman It could
be Seth. It could be Dean. It could be John Cena,
whatever pops in to do the interview Like you
know where the interviewer is standing by themselves
and my guess at this time is and then they pop
in back then in the olden days that was super
special because you just never knew and you never
knew what was going to happen if somebody was
going to interrupt it or whatever and it's one
of the greatest things about Monday Night Raw
and even SmackDown itself is seeing the athletes
walk to the ring from whatever car wherever they
are it doesn't really matter where they start
from and seeing who they pass and who they interact
with because again that's a small behind -the
-scenes thing And that's just really really cool
that they do that so showing more of that here
and having Jericho be the behind -the -scenes
guy for raw 25 I think really really worked Yeah,
I don't know in terms of talking about this one
or this show the WWE 24 on raw 25 just go watch
it. I mean, yeah Say it's 52 minutes. It's definitely
worth fun. Yeah worth seeing and worth the Worth
you'll have fun with it. It's a cool look kind
of behind the scenes and it's neat to see some
people That we haven't seen in quite some time
get to interact with some of the new crowd and
be reminisce about a whole lot of time with Whole
lot of time with the company whole lot of things
that happened with the company over the years
Yeah, absolutely Everyone should go watch this
Because if you're not why are you watching raw
like go see this go look at this and see how
much work is put into this Not to mention the
number of people that's why I always try I try
to real hard When I watch something like backlash
and it's not particularly good Not to be exceptionally
negative because an awful lot of hard work from
an awful lot of incredibly talented skilled people
went into it Nobody sets out to Make it not good
show or an episode of a show or a pay -per -view
or a match or whatever it's just not everything
it happens to all of us i have shifts where i
can't do anything right so it happens to everybody
so and just with the sheer number of people it's
almost amazing it doesn't happen more often yeah
absolutely absolutely Think that's gonna do it
for us short quick to the point folks. It's only
a 52 episode or 52 minute things. Yeah, exactly
Exactly exactly. It's not too long. It's you
know, I will say this one of the things I had
forgotten about and they briefly sort of mentioned
or hint at is the fact that And it's funny because
we talk about this almost every week. I had almost
forgotten that raw was originally two hours Yeah,
I did too. Yeah, it was only 2012 that they became
the three hour Yeah, and I would I will still
and I will pretty much always say too long. Yeah
show that it is now, but Yeah, it's in terms
of the number of people working on it too. There
have to be way more I would think I would think
because of that as well. Yeah Yeah, see it so
throughout this Chronicles be the last thing
I say we can wrap this up throughout this Chronicle
on WWE 24 they show like 11 a .m. 3 p .m. 5 p
.m. It basically takes them obviously a whole
day to set all of this up not just the ring stuff
not just all of that, but the cameras the this
the that everything for a three and a half for
a three -hour show I I remember the two -hour
Raw's it's obviously been six years since they
changed that to three hours, but see here's the
thing I don't watch raw live anymore Have not
watched raw live and since I got a hulu subscription
now that I have hulu and they have a deal with
hulu that they put raw and Smackdown on hulu
and they don't put it on the network like would
I still watch raw if it was on the network for
three hours probably but hulu they put it on
for like an hour and 30 or 40 minutes out of
the three hours and they basically put you know
the biggest parts of each week's episode they
they put a full show on like it was but i'm sure
they've cut out middle sections and things like
that uh... i'll have to one of these days i'll
have to show you how raw works on on hulu because
you know hulu in canada just blood and water
and oil and water and all that i've tried to
watch raw I try to watch it live. I usually watch
a good portion of it, but I frequently tap out
before the end just because it ends at 11 o 'clock.
I got to be up for whenever the next morning,
usually fairly early. And the annoying thing
is here in Canada and I'm sure some of our other
International listeners have similar issues Once
it's off air. I can't there's no legal way to
watch the stuff. I miss Great, which is really
annoying. That's where the network at least internationally
should step in You know, they should be allowed
to show raw on the network for countries that
don't have an airing uh don't have a company
that airs it afterwards there we go but for some
reason they do not so blah they should really
get on that yes they really should Okay, side
nothing to do with wrestling, but somebody just
did a meme and compared Joel Olsteen to the Joker.
Oh my god anyway Sorry, yeah Yeah, I don't know
about watching it league, you know like like
I said Hulu is great like Because it's so easy
and it's it's just so fun. It's it's great only
having to spend an hour and a half or so on the
program obviously smackdowns two hours smackdown
gets full full coverage uh... but they were they
present monday night raw on hulu as if nothing
was missing there are things that you've said
to me in the past couple weeks, couple months,
whatever oh did you see this part on raw on hulu
and i'm like no i wasn't there but it wasn't
like it got It wasn't like a really, really bad
jump cut or a really, really fast jump cut where
it's like something is missing. It's a full show.
It just doesn't have all three hours of it, which
is great. Because three hours, like you said,
too long, especially for a weekly show. No. All
right. Episode 40 of the show, who knows what's
gonna happen. We could do a Superstar Spotlight.
We could do something else. I don't know. The
two episodes I had planned for episode 40 and
41 are not actually out on the network yet. They
were going to be 365 AJ Styles and then WWE 24
on Ronda Rousey, but those have not been published
yet on the network. So we're gonna move some
things around for next time. Who knows? Obviously
we get Money in the Bank coming later. Yeah,
usually one of the more entertaining reviews
because trainwreck or not generally the money
in the bank Matches at the very least are extremely
good. Yeah Absolutely. So now you remember the
last time we had really bad money in the bank
matches last year No, I don't remember them being
that bad with okay. So I hated the finish of
the women's where that's what i said specifically
what i meant was the finish of the women's life
but it doesn't mean this stuff leading up to
it they didn't do a good job especially right
from sever match and then the men's that was
terrific and this year i think the tell a really
fun story because he got guys like brawn in its
and will see you know what what they decide to
do with roman not in it Bronze already in Finn
is already in who is an insanely talented performer.
So you've already got two guys that if I were
choosing who I want to see in a ladder match
would be two of my top choices. I suspect, you
know, we'll see what they do with AJ or Shinsuke.
They'll probably end up fighting each other.
So unfortunately they won't be. Stop. no more
ajay and shinsuke no no no that's done jesus
christ wwe i disagree i think they can still
they have to salvage it with an actual decent
match with a finish though yeah and they can
finally do that and then get away with it but
they should have yeah they should have done it
a while ago instead of just constantly giving
us non finishes yeah because nobody likes those
anyway The last thing I'll say about Raw 25 behind
the scenes on WWE 24, funniest thing was AJ trying
to be Hulk coming up to Mean Gene. Yeah, well,
you know, Mean Gene. I love that. I friggin'
love that. That was hilarious. Yeah, it's gonna
be fun. It was entertaining to see the current
superstars get to interact with the people who
they grew up watching. And there's a sense of
fun and everything else surrounding this that
really makes this, whatever you want to call
it, behind the scenes, documentary, whatever,
makes it work. Yeah, absolutely. All right, where
can the people find you on Twitter, sir? Online,
whatever Twitter thing. At Nightbeat on Twitter,
which you already said. Which I said, yes. And
I am of course at TFU and Mike on Twitter. You
can follow at GeekCastRadio and at This Week
in Geek as well. Join us next time for whatever
we'll be doing. I gotta come up with some sort
of plan, folks. I mean, it's not like Bobby Heenan
is gonna come running in here and screw things
up. since you and I have been in the ring together.
And a lot of things have changed. You look great,
but obviously Mother Nature has not been too
kind to me. I'm a member of AARP now. I have
heart problems. I've got this murmur that just
won't seem to go away. I've got arthritis and
my bones are really brittle. I live in a retirement
community now. I'm trying to say, Steve, times
have changed. I'm now a senior citizen. But I'm
a senior citizen, but Shane changed it his prime.
Now, James and his prime guy, he looks so good.
Look at him. My God, he flies off from one side
of the ring to the other, comes way down. Yeah,
here's James and his prime. Because the world
