About this Episode

TFG1Mike and PecanCtMichael tackle the time-travel two-parter "Quantum Boogaloo," where Phineas and Ferb travel 20 years into the future to find a tool that fuses wood and metal at a molecular level. When adult Candace follows them back through time and busts them, she accidentally derails Agent P's mission and creates a dystopian future where creativity is banned. The hosts discuss the episode's surprisingly solid time-travel logic, the dystopian future's details, and Doof's reign as emperor—complete with his crew of backup dancers all named Joe. They also explore the implications of multiple Candaces existing simultaneously and rate this two-parter against other season 2 standouts.

You got to hang out with dinosaurs? Yeah, earlier

this summer. Well, thank you for inviting me.

So we went to go see some dead people. One dead

person in particular. You see dead people? Exactly.

And so we did that. And then after that, it's

like, wow, I'm depressed. Let's go drink. OK,

then carry on. There's a hundred and four days

of summer vacation until school comes along just

to... episode 37 in a row yep that's right episode

37 of Pauka brought to you by the GeekCast radio

network I am of course your host TFJ and Mike

yeah so you got that exactly try not to have

any more episodes on your way to the parking

lot yes that's right I am of course TFJ and Mike

and that was Peacock Michael hello hey how's

it going yeah it's going today is the 37th day

of summer here Did you disuse of mute anybody?

It was totally muted. It was red, man. Well,

it was green on this end. I heard you basically

just snorting that cat cocaine. I muted it and

then I moved the mic up just a tad. Just a tad,

so that I could blow my nose real quick, because

it was like - Yeah, well - I was a little stuffy.

I haven't muted, I thought I did. No, the mute

button was not functioning properly. Alright.

Regardless, get over a cold, leave me alone.

Alright, so - Okay. So this is the 37th day of

- summer we are here to talk about the next two

-parter in season 2 which is quantum boogaloo

parts 1 & 2 Phineas & Ferb's quantum boogaloo

this is the time travel episode everybody which

means there's going to be a lot of time travel

references throughout this whole thing so yeah

time travel yay time travel lots of paradoxes

yeah paradox I where is it really paradox I Don't

know I'm just saying paradox ease There you go

paradox ease that might have been that yeah So

everybody just jump in that DeLorean get those

time circuits ready Make sure your flux are capaciting

and we'll be back with quantum boogaloo after

this Okay, well we finished the superstructure

But what we really need now is a tool that will

fuse wood and metal at a molecular level Technology

like that is 20 years away You would need a time

machine. Luckily, I have been working on a design.

I have not figured out all the quantum physics

yet, but if you give me a couple of days... Or

we could just use the one at the museum. There

is a time machine at the museum? Yeah, we took

it back to the Mesozoic era. You got to hang

out with dinosaurs? Yeah, earlier this summer.

Well, thank you for inviting me. Ferb, I know

what we're gonna do today. Or I should say...

I know what we're gonna do 20 years from today.

It is time to jump in our time machines to head

to Phineas and Ferb's quantum boogaloo. Phineas

and Ferb travel to the future to find a tool

that fuses metal with wood. There they encounter

a 35 -year -old Candice who follows them back

through time and finally busts her brothers as

they are building their roller coaster, but also

accidentally foils Agent P's plan to defeat Dr.

Ufenshmirtz, setting off a chain reaction that

turns the future into a dystopian society. Dun

dun dun. We need an organ. Yeah. I love I love

this two -parter. This might be the best two

-parter out of season I know we already said

Chronicles of Meat was the best but no this one

This one is awesome. Really? All right. Yeah,

you must have liked this one a little bit better

than me I liked that they You know had like a

second take on what had already happened similar

to like Back to the Future 2 where you return

to the first movie and you can see what's going

on behind the scenes uh you know they were actually

there orchestrating or you know they're making

things happen so that's like oh everything seemed

like it went well before but now you find out

oh that's only because their future past selves

were at odds right so that was interesting i

like that uh i'm not sure how much there is not

to like here let's not get ahead of ourselves

Yeah Overall, I think the plot flows very well

for a time and track you got a time travels tricky

folks You got to really know what the hell you're

doing when you're writing time travel And I think

they did this very very well where they only

dealt with time Travel they didn't deal with

the time space continuum. That's not entirely

deal Traveling is not entire. They didn't travel

through space. They traveled through time at

one point the time machine gets moved to the

dump and then the time machine then Travels back

in time and these guys drop off the garbage and

go. Well, this looks like a good place for a

dump You know, ha ha there's gonna be a dump

here in the future, right? But then the time

machine then ends up back in The oh no the one

of the one of the dump gets run over Yeah, the

one in the dump gets run over by doofs thing

when he gets foil, because he's... The giant

ball of foil. Right. Right. So the one that can't...

the two adult canvases we're using had already

gotten destroyed, yet the one that's at the present

is still there at the machine... In the museum.

In the museum ring. But then... but then... one

more. Isabella takes the one in the museum back

in time to get the... Juice the juice. Yeah,

she gets juice is a soda. She gets it a can of

soda But so she goes back in time in the museum

and then comes back from the past Back to the

museum, but she lands in their backyard Well,

that's at the end. That's it's no no no what's

happening. Yeah, but that's not traveling through

space That's not traveling from Earth to Mars

to Venus to Uranus travel from no no no it's

the same thing she traveled from the museum to

their backyard Right, but it shouldn't happen

No, it should happen. Okay, so in the yeah in

the context of the story Isabella It happened

much later. That at the end of the episode they

said oh well all of this because we needed a

tool to fuse wooden metal And Isabella goes ah

and then she walks off She still got into the

time machine at the museum Time travel hurts

my head folks. There's a lot going on here. Let's

discuss hurts my head. Let's try from the beginning

You know, it's yeah, okay. All right, so a tool

the bonds wood and metal at the molecular level,

right? That's all they need Mm -hmm. Why not

duct tape? It works the same way Okay There you

go problem solved Actually problem solved when

Isabella shows up in their yard in a time machine

that's not supposed to go through space and hands

them the wood and metal molecularizer Yeah, and

then they go well, there's one thing we don't

have to do today Hmm story told goodbye everybody

That's true So 20 years in the future to me looks

a lot like a hundred years in the future You

know cuz they've got like our colleges Yeah Interesting

but something that would take longer than 20

years to build yeah And Stacey is the president

of Uruguay. Good luck with that llama legislation.

That's right, because in 20 years llamas get

the vote. Yeah, I... I don't know. They had to

do something with Stacey, I guess. They had to

make some sort of reference with her. Yeah, she

gets to be the president of Uruguay. Pere of

the Platypus is ancient. Yes, yes he is. He's

sleeping through their chess game. That was the

funniest thing. Oh no, I moved the wrong piece.

Harry wakes up and chucks his teeth at him. He

grabs the dentures and throws his teeth at his

eyeball. Oh, that was awful. You know how bad

that would hurt. That would suck. You know, I

can see us in 20 years. Yeah, throw dentures

at each other. Why are you recording this podcast?

Mm -hmm just see that that's right 20 years 20

years from now. It'll all be 3d digital at this

point, but yeah, yeah, exactly It'll look like

Star Wars. We're all sitting around the table

and it's holograms all around the table talking

to each other Xavier and Fred We finally meet

them. We've heard so much about them. We have

Well, no, actually we've heard so much about

Amanda Xavier and Amanda because throughout up

until this point Young Candice always says she's

gonna marry Jeremy and they're gonna have two

kids Xavier and Amanda So Fred I guess is just

thrown in there to be the Ferb type character

He's the one sitting next to Xavier. Yeah. Yeah

I'm sitting next to him. Yeah. Yeah, and a digital

tree. Oh my god. Exactly. Wait, it's just a digital

tree crash Whatever happened to the tree that

was there? Yeah, yeah, really? You just decided

that tree didn't need to be there anymore? Did

it grow too big? Was it growing into the plumbing?

Had to remove it? Maybe just used it for the

paper pelican too. That's right. Well, only for

soup, everybody. Before their time. It was before

their time, exactly. You know, they didn't look

20 years older either. Yeah, no, they didn't.

They were still kind of... If they did, it wouldn't

sound the same. It would just be a bunch of old

men singing like this. Like an Alice Cooper concert?

Yeah, I'm 18 and I like it you are not get off

the stage graps I'll give you a rooster you young

whippersnappers. That's right chains. Whoops

Oh, no, there's actually a line in one of the

Alice Cooper songs to talk about the rooster

Okay thought maybe you were just referencing

18. I like it. Yeah, I Am NOT worthy. I am NOT

worthy get up. You're worthy. You're worthy So

bowling for soup rewrites their theme song and

extends it a little bit They didn't rewrite it.

They gave it a second verse kind of like okay

second verse same as the first You know, it's

kind of like, I got friends in low blood. Let's

do that third verse, which he only ever does

in live shows. It's because it's dirty. Yeah.

You can kiss my. The the second verse for the

theme song here is not dirty. No, it's different.

It's almost like they've made an entirely new

intro. Yeah. Oh, wait until we get to Christmas.

Oh, boy. Oh, OK. Instead of a monkey instead

of giving a monkey a shower they're giving a

yeti a shower This is cold. Okay. Yeah, that

makes sense Yeah, it all comes together. Yeah

today is gonna be a great day What else we got?

Finneas says imagine the size of the creature

that bone came from That's what she said, yeah

Mom says I've always loved that old bone Just

like oh In you went don't that that poor that

poor dinosaur Carolyn Ria Love that. Oh, right.

I've always loved that always loved that old

Carolyn, right? It's funny Yeah, okay next Candice

Candice time travels to the first episode Right.

Yeah. Yeah, she helps she helps bus the boys

and in doing so creates I don't want to say a

time paradox because technically that's not really

a paradox. That's just it's well turn off an

alternate future, right She she splinters the

time. It's essentially a second. It's like second

1985 Where Biff takes over that's essentially

what it is. It's the back to the future thing

with Beth Yeah, okay. She's created her own dystopian

future. Yes Where all creativity is banned for

being dangerous And all all children are now

You know put in little robot suits until they

grow up and all I can think of is They're going

to grow up and grow out of those suits are those

suits gonna age remember Did you see that when

they put the kid in the suit? Yeah, does the

suit get bigger? Is it just stretch? How does

that work? How does that work? I don't know.

I don't know either. I have no idea how that

works. That's, yeah. Suit logic, people. Suit

logic. Suit logic. So the funny thing here is

that Doof can still sing and dance 20 years later.

Mm -hmm. And he still is going, and Doof, as

an old man, is still going after young, hot chorus

girls. That's right. And they're all named Joe.

Oh, God. All of his backup dancers are named

Joe. What the hell is wrong with you, doof? Well,

you know how many emperors take time out of their

busy day to remember your name? He remembers

everyone's name. Everybody needs to wear a lab

coat. It's the new doof in law. That's right.

And not only that, but he remembers big words

like proletariat and bourgeoisie. Yeah, look

it up Joe. I don't even know what the hell that

means Joe look it up Joe So the proletariat is

a very French terms right the proletariat means

the ruling class and the bourgeoisie means the

lower class and eventually the Oh, I'm sorry.

I got it backwards. The proletariat is a lower

class and the bourgeoisie is a higher class.

So eventually the proletariat's revolt Against

their their their their the bourgeoisie exactly

That's why he said I'm the I'm the only bourgeoisie

yeah It makes sense know your history people

or be doomed to repeat it As far as history that

doesn't know this isn't the one that This isn't

the one he had the age -proof suit suit is it

no that isn't this one. I think so That's well

where he goes back in time and peels his face

off and he's a younger self Yeah, it's not that

one. Oh Yeah, we've already taught. No, it's

where Perry has the age proof suit. Oh the the

It was the one with the cheese when he was gonna

age the cheese. Okay. Yeah. No, I'm getting a

moment Age proof suit Exactly. I need one of

those. Yeah, don't we all how am I getting old?

Falling apart over here, man. Oh boy. What else?

Mandatory lab coats. So then we get lab coat

Candace. So lab coat Candace goes back in time

to stop 35 year old Candace, who's not in a lab

coat. Right. And she performs the the first paradoxical

full body tackle. Yep. Well, the first that I've

ever seen Yeah Shouldn't they both explode if

they touch each other? Yeah The universe fall

upon in itself or something I think in the point

of this story is so Phineas could fix it They

didn't have them explode because that would just

be too violent for Disney All right But, you

know, they go to Phineas and Ferb and they explain

to them, you know, I'm, you know, we're two different

candises from two different futures, one that's

good and one that's, that's, that's screwed up.

We should really fix that. We did. Oh, so if

that's the case, then the bad candise should.

Oh, no. So. Yeah. I like the fact that in the

future, they have all these automatic doors,

but they still look like real doors you can open,

but they just pop up. They just go up into the,

it's kind of like the cages at the mall for the

stores. It's like, instead of just opening a

door, it just slides up. Yeah. That's called

backwards compatibility. PS4 you need that Like

Candice goes back and finds her mom in the future

and she says you're so old I like how the antiques

in the antique store are like disco balls of

video games I saw a Segway and an exercise bike

Does anybody really use a Segway nowadays anymore?

I've just seen them or well You know, they kind

of miniaturized it and they're those little hoverboard

type things nowadays No But but I've seen Segways

they have them in Chicago. Oh Of course, it's

Chicago. Oh that cool outdated technology, right?

Yeah Full full of outdated technology. Yeah from

1984 Exactly Aren't you a little young to be

a time traveler? No, no, I'm not I thought it

was just as I am What he says I'm saying no,

no, I'm no I'm not I mean, yeah, honestly, what

have I done with my life by now? I should have

invented the time machine So the guy who invented

the time machines shows up in this episode Xavier

Onassis. Xavier Onassis. Nothing about Jules

Verne There's no there's no obvious like HG Wells.

There's no there's no clear -cut time machine

reference Yeah, no, there's not I mean No, there

really isn't I love when he says, excuse me,

future female of the species, do they still have

whatever it was he wanted? They make corn dogs,

yeah. Yeah, do they still have corn dogs? Yes.

Hot dog, I'm staying. I'm staying. That's right.

Good, I'm stealing your time machine. Yes, I'm

stealing your time machine. So mom finally finds

out about the boys, right? except it's way in

the future and she refuses to bust them yeah

because her phineas and ferb are 30 years old

right now no wait a second here 30 years yeah

30 years old yeah did she say 30 years old or

30 years older no i think she said 30 yeah because

they're 20 years in the future and they would

have been 10 in the past so see i thought phineas

was older than Ferb I'm gonna have to look that

up. Keep talking. I don't know. Okay Well, so

basically she says Phineas is in Switzerland

and Ferb is at Camp David which leads me to believe

that Phineas is receiving a Nobel Prize and Ferb

is the president and Ferb is president. Yeah

Okay, can you imagine a president who talks as

much as Ferb? The state of the Union address

would be like two minutes long Yeah, it'd probably

be the best best presidency ever Well, he talks

very little. Yeah. But you know, he can make

anything that the country needs. Energy problems?

I'll wolf up some cold fusion, you know. Hey,

that's another one that they never went back

to. What? What was the episode where they said,

where Phineas is like, Ferb, put the cold fusion

reactor on hold. We got something else we're

going to do. There you go. But yeah. Aunt Isabella.

Aunt... That means she's gonna marry Phineas.

Or Ferb. Or Ferb. I thought that was funny. The

look on her face, she's like... Ferb is like...

But you know who the first lady's gonna be? Vanessa.

Oh yeah. Oh yeah! That's a first lady I can get

behind and in front. She might be hotter than

Ivanka Trump. I don't know. We'll see. We'll

see who ends up being the First Lady. So, according

to the all -knowing, omnipotent Phineas and Ferb

wikia, Ferb is less than 15 officially, but presumably

between the ages of 7 to 12 years old in the

series proper, and he's approximately 17 or 18

in the special actor age. Now, let me check on

Phineas. Well, there you go. He's got to be 10.

Because they specifically said they went 20 years

in the future and they specifically said he was

30 So that makes him 10 But take that wiki math.

Oh, well, I know but I'm saying blanchard. What

do you do when you're bored math? It's math what's

30 minus 20, I don't know might be somewhere

around 10 see See, they, yeah, presumably between

both of them, okay. I just always thought one

of them was older than the other, but like a

year or so. Like, I thought Phineas was older

by a year or whatever else. Why would you think

that? Is it because he's taller? No, because

he had his birthday clip -o -rama. Remember?

Well, they're not twins, they don't have the

same birthday. Know but that's what I'm saying.

I just didn't expect them to be the same age.

I don't know. I thought they'd be different ages.

Whatever, okay? Anything else on quantum blue

verb verb only gets one line At the end he says

at least we know she mellows with age Yes, it's

a double episode. He should get two lines And

I don't remember him getting a first line We

got two songs But I only heard one line Got two

songs, but only one line. Let me see here Huh

well at least we know she mellows with age. Oh

Okay, now that every girl brings you lasagna

at work with some just cheat on you Okay, he

does two lines. Oh, it's the first line. He does

that is the first line. What what's the second

line? Uh, well, oh no. That comes at the end

of the episode, how can he have two lines? That's

at the end of the episode, where Ferb says, well,

at least we know she mellows with age, and then...

Well, it looks like we don't have to go to the

future after all, Ferb. Some of the time, perhaps.

Oh, that's right. Okay, my bad. You know, that

happened way at the end, and I must have blanked

it out. And you must have blanked out. I blanked

out. I was really tired and falling asleep, so...

From all that yoga you do. Yeah, exactly. From

all that yoghurt you eat. Yoghurt? You'll eat

of me? You'll eat of me? Well, that was almost

a perfect yoghurt impression, holy shit. Anything

else on Quantum Boogaloo? You know, I was gonna

bring up Isabella's Paradox. And also how her

time machine managed to get from the museum to

their backyard, but other than that no You Know

like I said, I don't think it was as good as

the Chronicles of meat But at the same time I

really can't find anything that not like about

this episode So I'm gonna, you know, I would

lean toward five, but again, not as good as Chronicles

of Meep, so maybe a four and a half, five? Yeah,

I'd give it a four and a half. Yeah, okay. I'm

glad you concurred. Yes, that works. All right,

folks, we're gonna close the show after this.

We'll be back. To the future. Back to the future.

Agent P, another failed mission. It's gotten

really hard to defeat Doofenshmirtz ever since

we swore that oath to obey him. Major Monogram,

I've detected a temporal anomaly in Quadrant

4, which means a time machine was recently used

there. That's it. Agent P, you've got to get

to that time machine and go back to the past,

right before that giant tinfoil ball puts you

in a full bodycast. change of plans instead of

doing that don't all right see you later remember

any episodes uh never mind on the way to the

parking lot the way to the parking lot. I already

did that joke, sorry. That's not a sailboat,

that's a schooner. Schooner is a sailboat, stupid

head. Try not to have any schooners on your way

to the parking lot. Sorry, I made myself giggle.

Try not to get snowballed on the way to the parking

lot. Oh my god, don't even say that. You know

what that is, right? Yes. Oh man. I know what

that is. Don't repeat it here. Please don't.

That's disgusting. This is one of those times

join us next time when we will be giving you

our thoughts on the next episode of Phineas and

Ferb, which is Phineas and Ferb's musical cliptastic

countdown. So, it's just one - Is that another

two -parter? No, it's not a two -parter, it's

just one whole long special. Oh, Clip Show? Yeah,

musical clip test at Countdown where they do

a countdown of the top ten Phineas and Ferb songs

from season one and season two. Wow, so we can

just like take that episode and transplant it

into the season two wrap -up for our top ten

songs. No, no, no, no, no, no. Oh, all right.

We'll pick two different versions. Well, we'll

have our own top ten for the musical clip to

clip test at countdown Yeah, and it will have

a separate top ten songs for the recap So forces

you to pick other favorite songs. I kind of feel

like they were being lazy here, you know, just

like Well, we could come up with another episode

or we could do the The interstitials are funny

and this is actually the first of two times that

they do this they do it again where They do another

one for season three and season four songs. Okay,

but in that one they have special guest host

Kelly Osborne and Yeah, it's Wow, it's crazy.

Okay That is so not okay Okay So, not okay. It's

not okay. Why would you have to... You know,

at least be cool about it and get like one of

the original MTV VJs or something. Kelly Osborne.

Geez -o -peets. Hey. Leave Kelly alone. Alright.

For now, I am TF2UnMichaelF. Michael Wilson.

Thank you for listening. Until next time. But

wait! There's more! Say it again. Aren't you

a little young to be a podcaster? No, no I'm

not. Aren't you a little old to be watching this

cartoon show? Yes, yes I am. It's good to see

in cartooning. Yes, yes it is. Yes it is. There's

not really any more, that's about it.
