About this Episode

Mike and Michael dive into four episodes of Phineas & Ferb Season 2: "Oh There You Are, Perry," "Swiss Family Phineas," "Hide and Seek," and "That Sinking Feeling." They discuss the episodes' humor, plots, musical moments, and standout gags—including the new villain the Regurgitator, boat-themed adventures, the debut of superfan Irving, and romantic complications.

Hello and welcome to the TFG1 podcast. I'm one

of your hosts TFG1 Mike. Joining me is Pecan

Court Michael. Hello. Hey, how's it going? Pretty

good, pretty good. Now, this is not the first

interview on the the G1 review show that we've

done in the past. We did interview Stan Bush

beforehand. However, this is the very first TFG1

podcast voice actor interview and we welcome

the voice of spider -man bumblebee cooler from

pound puppies mr. dan gilvazan hi dan how are

you hey mike just fine thanks how are you very

well very well oh and also let me say hello to

your cohort michael hello now you know if you

guys really want to make it in show business

one you're going to have to change your name

because mike and michael is not going to work

we need michael let me ask you have you considered

terry I'll tell you what, just for the sake of

this interview, I'm going to call Mike Mike and

Michael, you will be Terry. Terry? Is that a

male persuasion or a female persuasion? Since

I don't know you, it's going to have to be unisexual.

For a second there, I thought he was going for

a Hulk Hogan reference. So, not to say that you,

Michael, or Terry, now, are unisexual, because

I'm not really familiar with your sexual habits,

but I am going to refer to you as Terry, and

Mike, I will refer to you as M, not just M. Okay,

so are we straight now on who we are? I think

so. Did you have a career in stand -up comedy?

No, I did not. I've just sat in a lot of waiting

rooms with comedians. in my career so okay boys

let's hit me with the question oh there you are

terry i was wondering where you went that interview

was a long time ago there's 104 days of summer

vacation then school comes along just to end

it so the annual problem for our generation is

finding a good way to spend it It's over here!

Viniac! Come on, Barry! Mom! Phineas and Ferb

are making a title sequence! Hello and welcome

to PELCA, the podcast organization without a

cool acronym brought to you by the GeekCast Radio

Network. I am one of your hosts, TF2 and Mike.

Joining me as always is Pekonkrop Michael. Hello.

Hey, how's it going? It's going, Terry. And,

uh... Terry! Thank you, Danny Gilbertson. I appreciate

that so much. So we're here day 35 of Palka we're

here to talk about four cartoons in this podcast

we've got Swiss Family Phineas and oh there you

are Terry I mean Perry it's a joke you'll hear

later folks you'll you'll understand why we're

saying why I'm saying Terry instead of Perry

it's an old interview that Michael and I did

with the old voice actor from Transformers so

we got Oh, yeah. Oh, there you are, Perry and

the Swiss family, Phineas. And then later we're

going to have hide and seek, a good old fashioned

game of hide and seek, where we actually meet

to the debut of Irving, the fan boy who wants

to live forever, because apparently that's an

option. And then we're going to have that sinking

feeling as the love boat and Titanic have a baby,

and I don't even know what that would look like.

That's right. Two boat episodes today. To Boat

episode at it my buoyancy operated aquatic transport

episodes. That's right So we're gonna get right

to it with oh, there you are Perry and Swiss

family Phineas We back after this. Where are

you gonna be in three months? Never mind the

three months. I'll take care of him right now

Wait a minute. Well, first of all, he's my nemesis.

And you can't get rid of him now. Where's the

fun of that? You need to explain your whole plan

to him. Don't you have a nemesis? Me? The world

is my nemesis! Sorry, this thing doesn't always

work. The world is my nemesis! Here he's gone,

and it's just my fault! I can't take it anymore.

I'm gonna have to tell the boys. Marty the rabbit

boy in his musical blender? Maybe this will make

you feel better. Eh, not so much. Don't look

at me like that, Perry the Platypus. I know what

you're thinking. All you have to do is make a

little lean -to for survival. Well, there's survival,

and then there's living. Let us give you a quick

tour. We've got everything we need to make our

maritime mishap as enjoyable as possible. Here's

our warm and cozy family room, a fully stocked

kitchen, Alright folks, it's time for the first

part of episode 35 here we're going to be talking

about Oh There You Are Perry and Swiss Family

Phineas Lot descriptions for both episodes for

Oh There You Are Perry. When Phineas and Ferb

think Perry is lost, they use the power of music

to find him. Meanwhile, Candice, who fears she

is at fault for Perry's disappearance, combs

the Tri -State area. COMB THE DESERT! Sorry.

We ain't found shit. Yeah, we ain't found shit.

Exactly. to find him. As it turns out, Doofenshmirtz

has been downgraded to a low -level threat, and

Perry has been reassigned to a more dangerous

villain and a new family. Over on Swiss Family

Phineas, we have the family becomes marooned

after a summer storm, ship wrecks them on an

island, and Phineas and Ferb, along with Isabella,

use the opportunity to build a Swiss family -style

treehouse. Meanwhile, Candice tries to get them

to build a boat so she can get back in time for

Jeremy's party. After finding out what big laundry

meant, Dr. Duffen Schmertz uses his freaky monkey

labor to boost the new laundromat business he

wants to open there. Oh boy, these episodes.

I know you have been the last few podcasts here.

Well, basically the voice of dissent of oh these

kind of are going dead in quality since Chronicles

of meep And I just keep think they go up in quality

these two episodes. These are fantastic episodes

Yeah, okay. I think they were holding out on

us They knew that nothing could compare to Chronicles

of meep So they kind of like, you know phone

a couple in and then they're like, all right

now Now we're a few episodes past Chronicles

of me if we can really start putting out the

quality product Yeah. All's I can think of is

when the new villain is revealed and he does

his whole catchphrase thing and Doof asks him,

don't you have a nemesis? The world is mine!

All's I can think of is, the podcast is my nemesis!

The podcast is your nemesis. Yes, that's right.

I like the lightning. He's like, where is that

light coming from? I like the moment where he's

like, I'm sorry, this thing doesn't always work

properly. And this new villain we're talking

about, folks, he's called the regurgitator. Keep

pushing him down, but he keeps coming back up.

That was supposed to be lightning. Oh, okay.

I thought that was supposed to be you regurgitating

something. That would have been better. Yeah,

that's what I thought it was supposed to be.

No, it was the lightning that, yeah, nevermind.

The lightning effect somewhere. That's right,

we'll just dub in the lightning effect later,

it's fine. That's right. But no, the regurgitator

is voiced by none other than Clancy Brown. Clancy

Brown is awesome. Yes, he is. And honestly...

He does supervillain so well. Yes. Yes. He does

better than the I want to say he's general he

was But he ran the boarding school. What was

his name? In the boarding chamber when when the

when the boys get busted they get sent off the

boarding school military I know that's him, but

I forget his name was general something It was

only last season I like him better as a supervillain

than, you know, he's epic. I mean, he really

just chews on this role and does a really good

job with it. I love it. Yeah. See, the funny

thing for me with Clancy Brown is seeing him

in roles on Phineas, or hearing him in roles

on Phineas and Ferb, seeing what other things

he like. The one reason why I love the reformatory

school guy Commander, Captain, General, whatever

he's supposed to be. Yeah, yeah. Just because,

you know, he's got, you know, and no funky rhythms.

And then when he's got his fingers, tra la la

la la, it's because you don't expect Clancy Brown

to do, you know, stick his fingers in his ears

and start, you know, singing tra la la la la.

But yeah, The Regurgitator. I think this is a

really cool plot. I think everything flows nicely.

Yeah. I don't really see any problem with how

the A story and the B story swerve into each

other and collide for some goodness for the most

part. Okay. You know, actually, I don't want

to nitpick here because it's an excellent story,

but when we talk about the A story and the B

story colliding, Doofenshmirtz's story doesn't

actually fishtail with the boys' story, with

the exception that Perry's involved. That Perry

disappears from the A story so that he can visit

the B story, and then when the B story is resolved,

he comes back. It's not as if there's an inator

that is directly affecting the A story, as per

usual. It still does a fishtail, it's just not

a Doofenshmirtz fishtail. It fishtailed with

Perry instead this time. And again, like I've

been saying, the formula is great, but mixing

it up a little bit sometimes really does help

not make it feel like it's just the same old

formula day in and day out. So what I liked about

it was that it's essentially a Perry story throughout

the whole thing. Cause, let's face it, Doofenshmirtz

gets downgraded to a minor threat and Agent S

was just announced to his case, oh god. Stephen

the Snail is on Agent S's agent - uh, Doof's

case, great. Stephen the Snail. That's right.

Agent S. Yeah. You know what I like about the

regurgitator? Aside from the lightning. There

are no throw pillows in his secret lair. Yeah.

Not a one. Tiny I Wonder how much of this is

just ad -libbed, you know or yeah Usually a well,

I mean, I know it's Dan and swampy but Disney

usually has a well -oiled machine so yeah Yeah,

maybe it's it's uh Remember, and I know this

is slightly different because it's a slightly

different part of Disney, and I'm sure they let

Dan and Swampy do whatever they want most of

the time, but I remember when I interviewed one

of the two times I've interviewed voice actor

extraordinaire Lauren Lester, voiced Dick Grayson,

Robin Nightwing on the old DCAU Batman cartoons.

He was in, he guest -started an episode of Good

Luck Charlie. I asked him about part of that

role. He's like, I asked him, do you have, you

know, did they let you ad lib anything? Oh, no.

All this that you saw on the thing, that was

all scripted. It was already all written and

everything else. I just acted it out. And he

basically said that Disney is a when it comes

to their situation, comedy shows, the live action

stuff. Yeah. It's a very well -oiled machine.

Charlie, that was a funny show. Yes, it was.

I like that show. All right Yeah, so the so the

plot for oh There you are Perry. I absolutely

love it. I think That every single thing in this

episode Has a very good comedy beat whether you

get the stuff with doofenshmirtz and regurgitator

whether you get the stuff with even monogram

and Carl cuz You know, we've got You know Carl

making the regurgitation joke, and Martin was

like, that's not funny. You laughed earlier.

It was a pity laugh. It was a pity laugh. This

is hilarious. Or even with Candice on the lookout

for Perry as she combs the desert. It was really

funny. She finds a lady with a pet beaver. She's

like, grabbing it by the beaver tail going, come

on, you, come on. Why won't this wig come off?

As she pulls him around the corner, it's a lady

with a pet beaver. She says you have a pet beaver

To Shay Is this the first? Appearance of Marty

the rabbit boy in his musical blender. No. No,

okay No, we've seen him before I thought he might

have showed up before but I couldn't remember.

Yeah You heard where he played, right? Yeah,

yeah. Oh, oh, okay. He showed up for the concert?

Yeah, because he showed up for the talent show,

because it was a super American teen idol pop.

It was an audition. So he was there at the audition.

So he was there. And then because in that episode,

Candice again first mistakes him for Phineas

and Ferb. So she's doing it again here, right?

Oh All right. Thanks. I have a boy musical blender

before you know, honestly that should have been

a huge clue when he played Played the song on

a blender. Yeah. Oh, yeah, that's right. That's

what we saw him before His musical blender. His

musical blender. So the best musical portion

of this show is the Come Home Perry Come Home

song. Right. Such a fun song. It is. It's one

of those, I don't know, I've brought this up

before, but it was one of those Disney HD bumper

songs where they play a little music video. You

have the platypus clouds in the background. Yep.

It's just it's a lot of fun. It's really cute

We can't just start singing and she can't figure

out a decent rhyme She changes her name to Larry.

Everyone goes Larry Rhymes are rights. I was

trying to think what would be a good rhyme with?

Jerry or prairie scary Harry besides Larry Legend

Jerry Legendary. That would have worked. Yeah.

I don't know how it would fit in this one. Sometimes

I wonder about Doofenshmirtz. Why is that? I

really wonder what he does in his spare time

that we don't see. He makes innators. I don't

think so, because I think he's too busy watching

Nickelodeon and Dora the Explorer. Why would

you watch Dora the Explorer? Well, one of the

allusions is that, you know, Lois, what does

he say? Lois, I don't even know. I don't speak

Spanish. Basically, what he says at the end,

we did it. We did it. You know, basically what

he says in Spanish means that we did it and it's

from Dora the Explorer. Oh, all right. OK. You've

been reading the Wiki again, I see. Of course.

Yes, OK. I was not aware. I don't remember that

part. The only part about the end that I remember

is where The whole base is about to blow up and

Perry grabs doofenshmirtz and flies him out and

Basically since he's not a minor treat anymore.

He he drops him in the desert and he and he lands

on the errant throw pillow It cursed you pair

of the plot of us. Oh look I throw a pillow You

guys do it right. You guys do it right. I've

been using that phrase lately, which makes me

giggle. The boys and I recently went to a water

park and we were in the parking lot. And as I

was pulling into a spot, I saw all the way in

the back of the parking lot, there was, you know,

they have trees lining one side of the parking

lot and all the way on the other side, they have

these people who are parking under the trees.

And I was like, oh those guys are doing it right,

you know Those guys are doing this guys did it

right cuz they are parked in the shade and when

we get back to our car It's gonna be a thousand

degrees It's gonna be like that one guy who parked

The demonstrating the The children in the car

thing. Oh, yeah, it goes in the car and it's

easily a thousand degrees And that's what it

was like when I got back in the car after being

at the waterpark with the boys So I totally should

have parked just like those guys who did it right?

Yeah under the tree All right, so What I think

it was really cool about this one Perry mocking

Candice after she puts him outside That's right,

he's like That was fun. Yeah, it was funny. I

like the planet tracker 3000. Yep That was just

kinda like, hey, I got an idea. I know what we're

gonna do today. We're gonna build a planet tracker.

So yeah, I would totally give this a five. It

has a great story. It's got Clancy Brown. It's

got a fun song. A lot of gags. It's just a really

good episode. It is all right. So we are moving

on to Swiss family Phineas. Oh Boy, this episode

is hilarious. This one is so cool. It's a lot

of fun. Yeah This is the first episode of the

family actually uses a bow at I mean a boat the

bow at Yeah, the buoyancy operated aquatic transport.

Yes, the whole episode is a boat episode. Yeah,

it's kind of fun It's a Gilligan's episode is

what it is. It's a three -hour tour Mm -hmm three

hour tour On the HMS Lindana Yes, that's that's

true if I had a boat and I was married to Lindana

I would name it the HMS Lindana Actually, I would

name it the USS Lindana because I'm not British

But you get the point you get the idea there.

Yeah the point the gist of my comment Yep, absolutely

So we get Buford and Beljeet babysitting Perry

Was the best Perry just can't sneak away if Buford's

like don't worry little ducky thing He has no

idea what Perry is it's just like ducky thing

Buford and Beljeet kind of stole the episode.

They totally did because because Buford's like

what you doing Yeah, Beljeet says not taking

my eyes off of Perry. Yeah staring at him He's

not getting halfway from my sight No good, no,

I was gonna change subjects go ahead So when

doof is talking about his plot with the big laundry

you two are changing the subject, okay? Big laundry.

I remember what big laundry meds. Yeah. Yes when

he's talking about this where he's gonna basically

Free up all the real estate Cuz the laundromat

so close and he's gonna open up a doof and schmertz

Institute of evil ology Never know I've seen

this episode god knows how many times I've never

noticed that before but it essentially says die

Institute of evil ology it's like us They call

that the Suicide shop where you walk in the door

and they just murder you I mean, I get what they're

doing here. They're basically reversing evil

and incorporated because it's usually DEI. Yeah,

yeah. Because I grabbed the screen cap of all

these people around one of the locations and

it took me a minute and I just started laughing

so hard because I finally realized that... on

the building, and on the top it has the full

name, but on the window it has a giant purple

circle there with D -I -E on it. And I'm just

like, no, that's just so wrong. There's just

certain things you should not do in cartoons,

and that's one of them. Blink and you'll miss

it. So Mr. Fletcher knows a lot about nautical

terms. Yeah, yeah, more than I did. Some of those

I was just like he's making that up No, he's

he's not I think what you find is British people

in general are more nautical Because the majority

of them, you know live closer to water than we

do Mm -hmm. They live on an island. Basically.

It's a big island Yeah, so they're more likely

to be on a boat at any given time than like us

Midwesterners Yeah This is the first time we

get the theme song for Carl the intern This is

your big chance Carl He knows what all those

buttons do all the buttons I like how he kind

of sits down and there's a car created around

him Yeah, the ice cream machine. Yeah Reminded

me reminded me like Borderlands where you have

a digitized truck forms around you as you jump

in. I'm gonna go put that in the wiki. It takes

such a long stretch, but it belongs in the wiki.

I have a note here. Candice loves seafood. At

some point she gets covered in fish. She's got

a squid on her head. She looks like Candice Thulou.

Hmm. That was my play on the words Cthulhu with

Candice. Oh, okay with head Candice Thulhu Not

that Candice Thulhu to be confused with the Star

Trek but yeah Cthulhu. Yeah big squid guy with

the bat wings that guy. Yeah That's going in

the wiki I'm sure it already is Candice looks

like the elder god Cthulhu in this But not only

does she have a squid on her head, but she's

got like fish in her face. There was a fish on

her ears and a fish in her mouth. She was a wreck.

Yeah, she was a wreck. She was a wreck. Anyway.

Candice O 'Brien gets all the lines today. I

think that's Richard O 'Brien. Richard O 'Brien

gets all the lines. I think that was back to

what you said. He has a lot of good lines. He's

just he's just got that dry British humor going

for him And a lot of it, you know, you'll miss

it if you if you don't pay enough attention Don't

throw the the reds in with the whitewash will

become a whole big pink mess I've done that And

this is the episode folks if anyone ever wants

to know where the opening Images or opening shots

come from in the in the in the title sequence

This is the episode swiss family finneas season

2 is the episode where they got you're giving

a monkey a shower Yep, had to be done. I had

to be done. I'm almost positive though that You

know that image that image was from like a year

prior and maybe they just said you know We need

to do we need to get that image into the show

somewhere Well, I'm not yeah, I'm just saying

though that They actually this is the first time

I've noticed a full -on title sequence reference

in the actual show No, no, no. No, there was

the the one time where they Were they how was

the the giant painting that? Wanted to make a

painting for his dad. So they so they painted

the painting hit painted hills Oil on Candice.

Yep. Yeah, that's right. So that with the helicopter

with a huge paintbrush on it or the roll the

paint roller That came from an episode No, I

know I understand that I'm just saying this is

the first time I've noticed One of the opening

title shots being a full -on gag in one of the

episodes. Oh, yeah, you know, it's just like

a This did I'm not saying they're not there before

this. Okay. I'm just saying this is the He's

giving a monkey a shower. I mean, it's like the

weirdest left field thing that just threw out

there for the heck of it Why are you doing that?

Oh had to be done. Yeah, there's survival and

then there's living Because Candice goes off

on Phineas all you had to do is build a little

lean to something for survival There's survival

and then there's living I love how Phineas just

assumes they're gonna be there for the rest of

their lives You know what's funny is the next

guy who gets washed up on that island is really

gonna have it made. And a very clean monkey.

Yeah. I have a note here, I don't know what it

means. Okay. It says, just buy him a new fish.

Just buy a new fish Is that from supposed to

be did you mix up your notes? Isn't that from

like, you know the Buford? Finding Biff episode

or something just Yeah, that's what it makes

me think of but I put such a TV trope next to

it just buy him a new fish such a TV trope i

don't i don't know what that's in reference to

i don't know what that's in reference to either

because there are no fish in this one other than

the ones that are coming out of Candice's mouth

yeah i don't know I'm not sure. It doesn't, you

know, normally I'll write the context of, you

know, my observations next to my notes and I'll

go, that's what that means. Or, oh, that's who

said that and why, you know, in like the fine

print off in the margins. But this is just, I

don't understand why he says that. Anyway, I

thought maybe you know. I don't know me. I have

no idea what you're talking about. Somebody lost

a fish and was very unhappy. Maybe it was the,

maybe it was the Doofensmourch thing. Did he?

He didn't, Perry didn't hit him with a fish,

did he? No, no, I don't know. He had big laundry.

So yeah, so Doof's big laundry explodes out of

the volcano and washes away the recently repaired

boat. Nothing about a fish there. Nope. I don't

know. Could have bought somebody a fish and made

all the difference in the world. Mm -hmm. So

it's a three -hour tour. Yeah There are no little

buddy references here no We were just watching

teen Titans go and there was like a five -day

event Where they were lost on a desert island

and at least one whole episode one night was

a send -off on Gilligan's Island Well, it was

awesome. Yeah So we didn't actually get the Gilligan's

Island parody here that we we deserve But I suppose

there's only so much you can ask for in a 15

minute episode Well, they are combining out like

four or five different things. They're combining

Swiss Family Robinson Gilligan's Island Titanic

Lord knows what else? Well, technically it's

Gilligan's Island Swiss Family Robinson Titanic

Tarzan because the tree house that they build

kind of looks like the tree houses in the Tarzan

movie sure one out The Tarzan Disney animated

film from 99. Oh Yeah, I'll buy that. Yeah, what

they where they use I'm pretty sure most people

know this but they use Tony Hawk for motion capture

skateboarding first Tarzan's Going on the trees

and sliding all this essentially made Tarzan

skateboard like Tony Hawk in that movie That's

where they got it from I thought it was more

like surfing but yes skateboarding sounds about

right. Yeah. Yeah. All right So Swiss family

Phineas, I absolutely love this Because again,

it really makes no damn sense. What does he say?

You know, we're in six weeks, you too can earn

a degree in blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,

or Ponzi schemes. And I'm like, where's Bernie

Madoff when you need him? I think he's in jail.

Yeah. Pretty sure he's in jail. Pretty sure.

Yeah. Oh, boy. He's going to get a pardon. No,

no. Trump is not that crazy. Trump is nuts, but

he's not that crazy. All right, what would you

rate us which family Phineas I want to give this

one a five because it was fun. It was so fun.

Yeah, absolutely I'm not a boat person. So it's

kind of strange that I would really like a boat

episode like that But but there was a lot of

fun stuff that Carl Carl's big Venture was a

lot of fun. I love it when Richard O 'Brien gets

good lines It's kind of funny that you're not

a boat person considering you essentially live

right near or close by Lakes and all that kind

of stuff and and you work in a city that has

a river running around it and Yeah, yeah, I suppose

Hmm. Yeah, I've been on boats. I just don't like

water. Yeah Yet you drink it all the time I like

it inside me, not around me. It didn't sound

right at all. Okay, so since we're talking about

water, I just had a really bad sinking feeling,

so we'll be back after this. You went there.

I went there. I'll be over at Vivian's house

for a few hours. You kids have fun. What kind

of fun can we have when it's raining? We could

talk about our feelings. Okay, I'll rephrase

it. What kind of fun can we have when it's raining?

I would not mind talking about my feelings. How

do you feel now? In pain. There, we're done.

I guess that was fun. How about a game of hide

and seek? Who said that? I did. Who are you?

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Irving. I'm

your biggest fan. How long have you been sitting

there a couple hours my horoscope says I'm a

background type Check it out. I've kept a scrapbook

of your adventures. This is the time you built

that roller coaster. And this is the time you

built those chariots. And this is when you had

that soup. What a nerd. Is that a lock of Ferb's

hair? Don't touch it. Irving suggested hide and

seek. Isn't the house a little small to play

a good game of hide and seek? Perhaps the problem

is not that the house is too small, but that

we're too big. He's right. You kids hang tight

while Ferb and I use the technology from our

submarine adventure to make a new shrinking machine.

Ferb, I know what we're gonna do today. You said

the words. Hey, can I say the Perry thing? What?

You know, when you say, where's Perry? Okay Where's

Perry? Wait, wait, I can do better. Where's Perry?

Where is Perry? Wherefore ought thou, Perry?

I wonder where that Perry went. Oh, where is

that platypus? Where'd a pee man at? Now this

is a ship. My, she's Yar. Is she ready to sail?

She's ship -shaped in Bristol fashion. What does

that mean? What does Yar mean? Hey Belsheet,

I thought your friend Mishti was visiting from

India. She is, but she is different now. Different

how? Did she turn into a werewolf or something?

Now she is a girl! She was probably a girl the

whole time. Let me explain. Four years ago, back

in India, we used to have such a good time together.

Give it to me! No, no, no, me! Give it to me!

No, me, me! And she never ever showed any kind

of sign of werewolfism at all? If we could just

stick to the topic, please. Five minutes and

48 seconds ago, back in my home. Baljeet, the

Patans are here. Coming! Hi Baljeet. So after

hiding in the bathroom, I jumped out the window

and came over here as quickly as possible. I

do not even know how to act in front of a girl.

I do not even know what girls like. Hmm, isn't

it like... Sugar and spice and everything nice?

That is what they are made of! I do not want

to build one! Duh! You know, I think what girls

really like is romance. Rounding out episode

35, we have hide and seek and that sinking feeling

for the plot descriptions. Hide and seek. When

Phineas and Ferb play a game of indoor hide and

seek, the boys shrink down, their friends including

their extreme fan Irving. Then Candice tries

to bring the shrinking machine to Linda to bust

them. Meanwhile, Dr. Doofenshmirtz attaches a

nanobot to Perry in an attempt to discover where

he lives and sees Phineas, Ferb, Isabella, Buford,

Beljeet and Irving while doing so. Okay, so,

you know, do you want to live forever, fanboy?

Is that an option? Is that an option? I didn't

realize that was an option. I'd like to live

forever. Yes. Yes, I would Is the consistent

character development that Irving gets in future

episodes because he starts out with this giant

scrapbook All these photos and things. Yeah next

time we see him. He essentially has what is an

equivalent to an iPad You know digital scrapbooking

is more mainstream nowadays Yeah. Yeah, actually

putting stuff into a book. Nobody wants to put

in the hard work of actually physically scrapbooking

stuff anymore. Scrapbooking is an expensive hobby.

Yes, yes it is, and you would know because you

have a wife that does it. Well, she switched

to digital. And to be honest, yeah, for a few

years she did digital. And after, I want to say,

the last couple of years she hasn't done anything

because she's been so busy being an assistant

principal. Yeah. It's easier when you're a teacher.

Yeah, I remember a number of years ago when we

were podcasting you had said this is like Six

years ago 2010 2011 you had said that she was

she was regular old -fashioned scrapbooking yeah,

and you had mentioned that she had gone digital

and Speaking of going digital it comes back to

that old song. Let's go digital That's that's

funny but but hide -and -seek Buford's right

the houses is not is not big enough for them

to have a good game of hide -and -seek and then

of course says, you know Ferb says Or maybe it's

just that we're too big or we're not small enough

for whatever Ferb says and there you go They

repurpose the old shrinkinator that they oh,

I'm sorry the old Submarine shrink thing that

they use for the submarine adventure. There you

go So I like this one. I think it's interesting.

I think it's fun It's a lot of footage. Yeah,

it's fun, but I don't know, like, it just...

Well, before we nitpick, let's talk about what

we did like. No, no, no, yeah, I know. I'm just

saying, yeah. So what did you like about hide

and seek? The whole shrink ray thing. I like

it when things, you know, shrink. Everybody experiences

shrinkage when swimming in the sink Please I

was waiting to use that I'm sorry. Hey, come

on little applause. I hear it in the background

I can think of is the next line. I was in the

pool It was the sink not the pool No, but I know

you I know you're talking about yeah, they can't

stand your line is I was in the pool the pool

And they do say when every sink is a swimming

pool. So I mean that's yeah, that's what I was

That's me. It made me giggle. Yeah, it was a

giggle moment. I Didn't even have it took me

about till the point where Candice comes up to

the Caterpillar when she gets shrunk. Yeah took

me up till that point to realize. Oh my god This

is honey. I shrunk the kids. It's honey. I shrunk

the kids The whole, it was a whole homage with

giant bugs and giant blades of grass and I'm

surprised she didn't ride an ant before it was

all over. Well the giant, the dead fly, that's

not a honey I shrunk the kids thing, that's a

Star Wars thing. That's a Star Wars thing, that's

right. I did what I had to do to survive! Play

central air, Beljeet. Come on now. Beljeet, this

won't smell good, kid, but it'll keep you warm.

What's that smell? Dead bug. Like, Candice, how

do you know a dead gut? Dead bug guts. Yeah,

say that five times fast. How do you know a -

dead bug guts smell like. I don't know. I don't

know. It's all the kids are huffing dead bugs

now. That's that's how she knows. Apparently

so. Getting high on dead bug. That's the teenage

thing to do these days. Yeah. Stay away from

drugs kids. Stay away from huffing dead bugs.

It's bad for you. So do. His plot or lack thereof

exactly his story is very minimal. It's a Plot

is he wants to ding -dong ditch Perry That's

his whole plot. It's not You know burn down his

house or you know kick over his lawn gnome. It's

I just read the doorbell and run away Yeah, it's

like as many times as he has accidentally shot

his backyard with various and natures, you know,

you'd think by now he would have triangulated

and said Maybe that's where he lives. Yeah Oh

man, but yeah, I mean outside of the fact that

there's a Very bad, you know very no, I don't

say it's bad, but a very short doof plot Um,

it's a cute little plot. It's just short. It's

uh, yeah, they they deliberately kind of shoehorn

it in there Uh to make room for the honey. I

shrunk the kids montage. Mm -hmm But it's such

a good montage though I mean, you know, the song

is forgettable. The fishtail is meh, but it's

a really fun episode There's a lot of cool things

going on here A lot of interesting things. There's

a lot of little luputian Homages I'm trying to

remember who the character in in Lily putt. I

Don't believe you who is this somebody in the

little fusion when they tie him down He ends

up shipwrecked on a island and little tiny people

time down with thread. I Have no clue all right,

you know, it's it's no you lost me Well, there

was it was an illusion of that, you know, I'm

sure it's in the wiki go look there Yeah later

later But yeah, but there was one good thing

that came out of the doofenshmirtz subplot as

you have this bug You know mechanical bug, you

know that that goes rogue. I hope it doesn't

go rogue And it goes rogue and the boys have

to defeat it with their Lilliputian thread tactics

But once they've done so they then Commandeer

it somehow. I don't I think I blinked when that

happened because I don't remember how that happened

And they use it to fly back to the shrink ray

so they so they get the they they thread the

needles they destroy the bug and They then say

we have to go to we have to go next door to get

the shrink ray and while Phineas is saying this

cut to the bug right dead and Ferb, you know

With his hands with the wires and next thing

you know he's rewired the fucking thing to have

the Furbin thing to have wings It has wings exactly

where the wings come from it didn't fly before

Furb rewired it to have wings All right, that's

that's a that's a polite way of saying it yes

So but then it self -destructs And takes out

the shrinkinator yep the therefore fishtail somewhat

somewhat it's kinda meh you know it's kinda well

you see this thing like this is the first time

doof has been able to actually use a self -destruct

button without you know it actually coming any

harm to him and there's no comeuppance nobody

beats him up this episode perry spends half the

episode asleep yeah exactly I love that he walks

in the door and he goes, Oh, I was about to put

the recycle into the garbage. Oh, I'm so bad.

You caught me. Okay. Now go away. You know, he's

just, he's just like, doobie, doobie, do bye.

You know, it's just no parry here. And he ends

up sleeping for the rest of the episode because

platypuses don't do much. Yeah, that's right.

He's just a platypus. They don't do much. They

don't do much. All right. Okay. So what would

you give, uh, Hide -and -seek, you know, I would

give this one a four Again that you know, the

doof story is minimal. The song is kind of forgettable

I know it's called when you're small, but I don't

remember much of it because it's forgettable

But I really do like the honey. I shrunk the

kids parallels I like a lot of the jokes. They

used a little bit of gross humor, which I really

appreciate You know how she climbing out of the

dead bug is like Coolest scene I've seen so far

I did what I had to do to survive Yeah So a fourth

I'm gonna give it a three. I did enjoy it, but

I do feel that it's somewhat middle ground There's

no real like big doof plot here the same time

I did have fun with what the boys were doing

But over time I haven't really like I've kind

of lost my my likeness or Fandom for honey. I

shrunk the kids. I don't know you know I never

had Experience at Disney World one year Oh, you

know no, we did we did see that is it Disney

World or is it um What's the other place called?

Epcot no no the complete other franchise it's

uh paramount not paramount uh yeah it's paramount

studios no it's not because that got bought out

it's universal studios yeah isn't that universal

i saw it at epcot the honey we shrunk the audience

maybe that's where i saw it okay yeah you know

at disney i wasn't i wasn't uh of You know that

demographic when that came out Chrissy saw them

all and we just recently rewatched the first

one with uh with the boys And I really liked

it, you know after say I think I saw it like

for the first time with the boys to be honest

Yeah, the only two like I know there's three

of them. There's honey We shrunk the kids honey.

I blew up the kid and honey We shrunk ourselves

the only two that really have any impact for

me is the first two because the second film is

basically Just a reverse of the first film instead

of shrinking one of the kids they blew up the

kids so but Alright, I'm gonna rattle Well, welcome

to my rattle Please no guar. Please no guar.

It's not guar. I was actually going for an Alice

Cooper. Oh Anyway, no rooster for you. Oh wait,

that's Alice in Chains. Exactly, I was about

to say rooster. Where's one of those Alice's?

There's too many Alice's in rock. What are you

talking about, rooster? Talk about men in boxes,

good lord. Alright, it's time for that sinking

feeling. Baljeet wants to impress his childhood

friend from India, Mishti. So he enlists Phineas

and Ferb to help woo her. However... None of

their over -the -top romantic gestures impress

her as she likes Baljeet for who he really is.

Meanwhile, Perry must stop the sleep -deprived

Dr. Doofenshmirtz from moving the Danville Lighthouse

to the other side of town so that he isn't bothered

by all of the ship -foghorns. Okay, this is a

much better Doof plot because the fish tale at

the end is epic. You know, but it's just wrong.

There's a fundamental flaw here. And that is

that ships don't follow lighthouses. They stay

away from lighthouses because the lighthouse

represents hidden shorelines. Right. And if you

go toward the lighthouse, you're going to run

aground. And that's something that boats don't

normally do. Don't like to do. They avoid this.

I don't know if it was the writing or if it was

just the way that Doof assumed how ships operate.

I'm just gonna assume it's the way that Doof

assumes ships operate so that way I don't have

to sit here and insult the writers of the show.

Not that I would do that. Of course not. Not

about you. It's one of those things where Doof

has gotten a lot of things wrong. in the series,

bow -atting, you know, bow -at, come on now.

Well, and there's the other problem, is this

is the second bow -at episode in as many episodes.

Yeah. I mean, literally, we just got done talking

about the Swiss family Phineas, and that was...

That was another... Well, no, technically it's

today's two -parter. Hmm. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah,

that's right, but it's you know another boat

episode. So now they're Right back on a boat.

I mean you can forgive it because it's a different

kind of boat I mean, this is uh, well these ships

are not like no one's on them No one's I mean

no one from the like it's not Phineas and Ferb

on outside of the fact that they're because this

whole episode That sinking feeling it's essentially

a Titanic Phineas and Ferb style Well, I wasn't

gonna say Titanic. I mean, there's some Titanic

homages here, like the, you know, I'm king of

the world, that type of thing. The sinking, you

know, where it breaks in half. But I, not being

a Titanic fan, I appreciated the loveboat montage.

Yeah, the loveboat, I mean, it's essentially

Titanic meets the loveboat, and that's cool.

Yeah. And I do enjoy that, but it's just... The

reason why I said it's more Titanic than Love

Boat is because of how Phineas references it.

He basically says, all they did in that romantic

movie after all that is they sunk the ship. The

lighthouse passes through it. Yeah, the giant

rocket comes and cuts through the bottom half

of the ship and all the ships pass through that

ship. And next thing you know, we cut to the

fun preservers because they're our own life preservers.

Yeah. And again, this is what the fourth or fifth

time in one and a half, two seasons that we have

a water slide. Exactly, because it's not Phineas

and Ferb. Without a water slide. In fact in the

last episode didn't they reference the water

slide Irving has it in the scrapbook. Yeah. Yeah

Yeah Anyway, it's just crazy revisit a lot of

themes here another thing we revisit is a doof

scale model of The Danville Yes, as a tri -state

area. Yeah. Yeah He had a lot of felt left over

So he made himself another one. And we have an

appearance by Vanessa. That's right. He goes,

I really hope Perry the Platypus appreciates

this. And she walks by. He won't appreciate it.

I know. I know. It's funny because he knocks

him into his diorama, into the scale model. and

it breaks and he gets all mad at him and says

you can just go now and he's he's doing this

kind of sad walk to the door like you can go

back to major monogram and tell him you lost

this one that's really funny this might be the

first time he has lost yeah yeah well if we consider

this oh oh Perry Perry law yeah yeah um Technically,

he does win in the end though, since the rocket

does fishtail back to Doof. Yeah, that was circumstantial.

Hey, circumstantial evidence will work in certain

court cases, so hey, it could work here too.

Why not? What I found hilarious was they show,

at the end of the episode, they show Doof's building

where they do, this is the second time I believe

they've used Doof and Schmert's Evil Incorporated.

After hours. That is the second time they've

used that, which I absolutely love it. I think

that's just so cool. But when they show it and

they show them singing, they don't show the singers,

but the singers are singing the thing. They show

Deuce building with a giant light on it. It's

before the rocket crashes into the building.

So I'm thinking, why is there a giant light on

his building already? And then the rocket comes

in and crashes. And seriously, how, you know,

going back to the whole boat stay away from lighthouses.

They're going to just drive up on. They drive

right up. Exactly. All the boats are in the middle

of town. Yeah around the building. How do they

even get there? How did that happen? I Don't

understand man It's it's just it has to be the

irony of it all really is really what it has

to be just being silly Yeah, I like the whole

Isabella subplot you know where she's like How

romantic I think this is really great and and

Phineas is like, yes, this is all to be romantic

and Isabella's like hey Yeah, it is and it turns

out that the romance is not for her Yeah, she's

just all pissed out. This is slightly akin to

when the cute ommeter Did not pick her up and

she was like come on man, what the heck You know,

it's you know, it's me that's throwing it off.

I shouldn't have come I'm jeopardizing the mission

here Yeah Good old Isabella. She's always jeopardizing

the mission. Whatcha doing? Yeah, we didn't get

a whatcha doing from her in this I don't think

I think it came from Phineas. Oh Yeah, that's

right over the overboard of the ship said what

you doing? Oh, yeah, and she said that they're

getting there One of their various patches their

various exactly shoot. They're getting there

uh... buoyancy -operated aquatic transport badger

but no uh... bristly we get to see you for it

in a diaper again we need you for the day for

twice in one episode face it was funny is when

he's sneaking off with his bow and arrow in the

end of it and wherever that room was and i was

like all man he's gonna call out a diaper Yeah,

that's just what's gonna happen here. Not only

is he gonna come out in the diaper, but he's

gonna put this big diapered butt in your face.

Hey look, Shrimp, will you pass me one of those

bad boys? That's right. You gonna eat that? You're

not gonna eat that. You just hand it up here,

please. Candice, as much as I like having some

strange kids' feet in my face, what do you say

we just go get a slushy burger? Exactly. Candice

is like but my hair is so nice. I can't you know

I can't be seen a slushy burger like this that

and you know It wasn't his feet that was in his

face Because he's got this at this wide load

diaper dangling above the table I Assume he emptied

the diaper because it was full earlier Change

this diaper this diapers is ruined An extra point

for potty humor, okay One more point of reference

I liked was a major monogram and Carl playing

rock band Yeah, that was funny Yeah, you wonder

what they're doing when they're not telling Perry

doofus purges up to no good go do something,

you know Yeah, they're playing rock band There's

another one where I forget which episode it is,

and we'll get to it when we get to it. I don't

think it's already happened, but there's another

one where they're actually having a party and

don't invite Perry. No. Because I remember that

the screen turns on, and he sees Monogram dancing,

and he's like, Carl, quick, cut to close up.

Well, that or he's giving a massage in a clown

suit or... Look. I don't know what that's all

about. This is not part of the bet. That's right.

What you guys do on your own time, all right,

is your deal. I'm going to be professional about

this. I'm not going to go into it. I'm just saying.

So I would give this one a three. You know, the

love boat theme will go over the head of 80 to

90 percent of the target audience's heads. Even

the Titanic theme will go over probably about

75 % of the you know, a lot of that is Stuff

that little kids just wouldn't know about I know

about it. I appreciate the fact that they threw

it at me But yeah anyway, I Gotta give it a four

and a half. I just even I only took a half point

off because deuce plot again just absolutely

makes no sense, but Understand what he's trying

to go for Yeah, it's just the execution of it

and how his Misunderstanding of Lighthouses is

is that just kind of gets that half point taken

off But yeah, four and a half four and a hat

really it was five really Jesus Pete's You know

my favorite part might have been the the kind

of happier moments between the Baljeet and Mishki

Right like when they were little just playing

around on the soccer field. That was adorable.

That was so cute You know, they were just little

kids and they you know, they're just playing

their friends But it was just so cute and then

at the end when she's finally like, you know

what? We don't need all this. Let's just go hang

out and they end up playing in the life preserver

or the fun preserver Yeah, and that was you know,

it's cute, you know, but it wasn't It wasn't,

like, innocent, let's say, because they like

each other now, but it was still cute. I mean,

that might have been the best part of the whole

episode, was just them enjoying each other's

company. Yeah, it was innocent enough. I think

they were making out. They weren't, like, twerking

in the fun preserver. Yeah, I think the most

innuend don't moment with the two of them is

when he was like, five minutes and 42 seconds

ago at my home they showed up and she is a girl

and when they reveal Mishdie to us as she's blossomed,

they basically use a boing sound effect. Did

they? I did not notice that. I, you know. I'll

have to go back and yeah. Grab that audio for

you. I think that is affectionately known as

a swing. Yeah Yeah The other thing we didn't

really mention is what in the hell Linda and

Lawrence are doing the whole episode You know

Lawrence just swinging that tube around What

is that even supposed to be is it supposed to

be did he disconnect A hair dryer and a hair...

What is that thing supposed to be? I don't even...

I think they were trying to recreate Blue Man

Group or something. Okay. Well, neither one of

them are blue, so that's out. Yeah, that's right.

You have to be blue. You know, maybe they loosen

up the rules here. It's Danville, after all.

That's true. I don't know. Anyway. So yeah, definitely

a three -carat territory here for me. Category

three. Four and a half for me. We're gonna take

a quick break, come back to close the show after

this. We gotta get that shrinker back. You guys

always have a plan. We don't have a plan. What?

We'll just have to wing it. There's no winging.

There's no winging in the book. You guys have

just been improvising this whole time? Oh, how

a Star Wars reference in every cartoon? Yes,

yes there does. Apparently so. Yeah, you know

what I would be happy if along with the what
