About this Episode

TFG1Mike and PecanCtMichael launch their 104-day summer challenge by reviewing the first two episodes of Phineas and Ferb. They examine the show's early character development, the introduction of iconic running gags, and their mixed reactions to the initial voice direction. The hosts also discuss the absurdity of the plots involving backyard rollercoasters, lava-spewing monuments, and Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s villainous schemes.

Women and children and the faint of heart may

wish to leave now. There's a hundred and four

days of summer vacation, then school comes along

just to end it. So the annual problem for our

generation is finding a good way to spend it.

Like maybe building a rocket or fighting a mummy

or climbing up the Eiffel Tower. Discovering

something that doesn't exist or giving a monkey

a shower. Surfing by the waves. Creating nanobots

or locating Frankenstein's brain? It's over here!

Finding a dodo bird, painting a continent or

driving our sister insane? Phineas! As you can

see, there's a whole lot of stuff to do before

school starts this fall. Come on, Barry! So stick

with us, cause Phineas and Ferb are gonna do

it all! So stick with us, cause Phineas and Ferb

are gonna do it - Hello and welcome to episode

1 of Palka. What is Palka you might ask? Well,

we told you back on April 1st 2016. It is the

podcast organization without a cool acronym.

It is the GCRN's Phineas and Ferb review show.

I am one of your hosts TFG and Mike. Joining

me is Pecan Court Michael. Hello. Hey, how's

it going? And today is the first day of summer.

Yes, that's right folks. We have As crazy as

I am, I've put us on a journey of 104 podcasts

for 104 days of summer. Oh boy. So as we launch

our Phineas and Ferb review podcast for 2016,

are you ready to jump on the roller coaster that

is the podcast organization without a cool acronym?

What are you expecting to find out of re -watching

Phineas and Ferb and doing this show? Am gonna

be first in line on the cool roller coaster.

In fact, I have a front row seat I'll be looking

over the edge on that 300 foot drop. I Was gonna

say you just don't be standing up. Anyway, we'll

get to that in a moment Alright folks. It's time.

We're gonna get to the first episode of Phineas

and Ferb which includes two cartoons roller coaster

and What's the other one? God, do you think I'd

know this? Candice loses her head. Yes, thank

you. Candice loses. Mike loses his voice. Mike

loses his mind. That's right. We're not even

one day into this show and I'm already screwing

it up. I actually thought it meant Candice loses

her hand. I thought it was going to be in the

vein of all, you know, Star Wars second episodes.

Oh, dang. Everybody loses a hand in the second

movie. She's she indeed only loses her head So

I guess that means uh Kylo Ren is gonna lose

his hand in episode 8. That's right. Who knows?

You know, it's gonna happen. Oh god Alright folks,

we're gonna get to Phineas and Ferb episode 1

after this So, Ferb, what do you want to do today?

What about Perry? What does he want to do? Well,

he's a platypus. They don't do much. I, for one,

am starting to get bored. And boredom is something

up with which I will not put. The first thing

they're going to ask us when we get back to school

is what will we do over summer. I mean, no school

for three months. Our lives should be a roller

coaster. And I mean a good roller coaster. Not

like that one we rode at the State Fair. Please

exit to the left. Man, that was lame. Why, if

I built a roller coaster, I would... That's it!

I know what we're gonna do today! Phineas! Ferb!

I'm gonna go pick up a few things. You boys stay

out of trouble, okay? Okay, Mom. We're gonna

build a roller coaster! I'm in charge, right?

You did tell them I'm in charge. Relax, Candice.

Nobody has to be in charge. But what if there's

an emergency? Like what? What if, uh... What

if a satellite falls out of orbit and crashes

into the house? If that happens, you're in charge.

Yes! Alright folks, the first episode, Rollercoaster!

Phineas and Ferb construct a rollercoaster from

their backyard out into the whole city for themselves

and the neighborhood kids. Meanwhile, Perry the

Platypus attempts to thwart Dr. Goof and Schmertz's

evil plan to reverse rotation of the earth. Are

you reading that directly from the wiki? I copied

it. Okay. It's just a little mini -plot blurb.

You gotta work on your improv. It's the little

mini plot verb from the Phineas and Ferb wiki.

It's not like it's the long episodic description,

so. Yeah. Yeah. So the plot of this episode.

What i found interesting about this rewatching

it because i actually for my audio purposes for

putting in audio in the show i actually watched

the episode recorded the audio and just kind

of watched it through without because i don't

know what clips i'm gonna end up getting i didn't

want to just sit here for you know an hour and

a half trying to cut through and figure out oh

hey i'm you know i'm gonna let the episode play

and oh there's gonna be something i want the

uh screw it it's only a Seven eight nine eleven

minute cartoon. I'll just record the whole damn

thing So, you know I sat here and I did that

and then Afterwards, I rewatched the episode

took my notes all that stuff So the basic plot

here is Phineas and Ferber building a roller

coaster because it's the first day of summer.

They're wondering, you know When we get back

to school, what are the kids gonna ask us? They're

gonna ask us what we did all summer and and and

all that and Building a roller coaster is not

something I would think of but Okay, I know what

the problem is What's that? Phineas is clearly

hitting puberty And his voice is changing and

he just sounds funny Yeah That was the other

thing that I noticed when I went back to watch

this. I'm like wait that that's Phineas I know

it doesn't sound like Phineas Chrissy watched

it with me and she got about five minutes in

and said I can't watch this anymore Can't I can't

handle that voice. I can't do it No offense Vincent

Martella. We love you, but everybody needs a

couple episodes to find their groove. Yeah The

funny thing is major monogram and dr. Newfin

Schmertz, you know, they kind of already have

their groove at this point Well, I think I think

they have their groove long before the the episode

before the show even started but what surprised

me is that Candice was Candice the mom was Mom

Mm -hmm everybody else had their lines down,

but You know Phineas was thing is just he he

needed some better voice direction or to get

your puberty So How do you feel because I as

a kid I loved roller coasters As a teen and adult

not so much, but how do you feel about roller

coasters in general? I love roller coasters.

We've got six flags About an hour and a half

north and and now that we can now that my kids

are tall enough to go on Yeah, we love it so

part of the phase and Ferb plot here in this

episode is that During one of the scenes at at

the market when Candice is trying to show her

mom that they've built the roller coaster Ferb

ends up putting up a poster Two of the kids see

the poster and say oh, do you think we'll get

a discount if we bring the if we bring the flyer?

Let's bring it anyway So here's my question Yeah,

how are Phineas and Ferb throughout the rest

of the show in the rest of the summer? Did they

because at the end of this episode Phineas says

oh, we should have charged more. Yeah So did

they actually charge the neighborhood kid? Because

it doesn't actually show that. And I know it's

a kids show, folks, but we're here to analyze

it and get at it just a little bit. Just a little

bit. And so with the plot here, I'm wondering,

did they make enough money in this one adventure?

to fund the relate that that's my biggest question

about this show when it comes to phineas inferred

themselves how do they do all this uh... you

know sure you know the you know every episode

we have building materials coming in or whatever

and i'm like how do these kids get this stuff

it only ran once so i don't think i don't think

uh... they had enough income from the from the

inaugural run to fund the rest of their shenanigans.

What did you think of the the overall adventure

of the roller coaster from this episode? You

know, I hate to interrupt you, but we got to

get to the important meat and potatoes question

here. Since when do phones have cords? I saw

at least two phones with chords attached to them

and i don't think i've seen those since like

maybe the early nineties well this show did debut

in two thousand seven that was nine years ago

i mean and even then it was old technology yeah

true i mean well you know kandace has a cell

phone uh... her mom has a cell phone i think

phineas and ferb both have cell phones um...

maybe it's just they wanted to show The family

home having a a corded phone they want to anchor

her to the to the couch there the easy chair

where she's Apparently hanging out because that's

the only thing I could think of Yeah, something

like that. Oh I wanted to bring up the long exhaustive

list of running jokes that were started right

here in the first episode So we start off with

Well, he's a platypus. He doesn't do much. Yup.

Yup, right here. Uh, you are going down! D -O

-W -N down. D -O -W -N down. Uh, you've got Isabelle

going, whatcha doin'? Yup. Uh, where's Perry?

Yup. Uh... Oh, there you are, Perry. There we

go, the obvious answer. Are you a little young

to be a blank blank blank blank blank with the

requisite answer being? Yes, yes, I am Or and

and there are times that they do change that

when they do ask that question like this one

was Aren't you a little young to be a rollercoaster

engineer? Yes. Yes, I am there are times Are

you a little young to be a blank blank blank?

Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Yes, I am Well, there are times

where they go no, no, I'm not There are because

that was I was trying because i wanted to figure

out a way to have us do our positive and negative

thoughts on the on the episode there you go at

first i was thinking i could make them care to

base like for you know for testing follies for

for bad stuff for uh... fun fun with phineas

for good stuff but instead of like no no screw

that we're just gonna have We're just gonna have

yes. Yes. We do moments and no no we don't moments

so that yes Yes, we do moments is the stuff we

like about the episode of the no No, we don't

moments is the stuff we are gonna criticize the

episode for well. We'll get to that momentarily

because there's more there's curse you Perry

the platypus I Didn't hear it as much as I hear

it in other episodes I think this is the first

time he's well obviously this first time he says

it, but like it wasn't clear enough Yeah, the

next couple he doesn't really say it but this

one he did Uh, Candice's mom and Candice's buh

buh buh buh buh buh buh buh buh running jokes

to start here now and honestly it took me at

least four minutes to read all of those and it's

and it's an 11 minute cartoon so I mean literally

they can eat up a third of their cartoons a third

of each episode just in running jokes but the

running jokes are what make the show funny to

me because like I don't As much as I analyze

stuff and as much as I will nitpick a lot of

stuff out of everything, you know that yeah,

you know, I Didn't sit here on Wikipedia counting

how many minutes I was talking about the running

jokes like I mean, come on. I wrote them all

down I was like, yeah, you know, I mean I know

we've talked about the running jokes of Phineas

and Ferb before we've had these conversations

in years past but Didn't realize until now that

they started in the first episode. Oh, it's like

the first episode lays the groundwork for Everything

that every is pretty much every episode to come.

I mean right down to it's like Major monogram

comes up doofenshmirtz is buying up all the X

Y & Z We don't know why go stop him and every

every episode. It's a new X Y & Z So I mean literally

it's the same Is it the same episode every time?

It might, it might... No, it's not the same.

No, it's not the same episode every time. The

overall plot for the kid's story was really cool.

I like the introduction of... Are we getting

into the... No, no, no. Yes, I am, moment, moment,

sorry. Not just yet. I like how... No, no, no.

Not yet. I like how they fluidly introduce characters,

because there are some cartoons where characters

will just show up and they're really annoying

and none of the characters in this are that annoying.

I will say that with a caveat saying that at

times, Candice, I just want to basically take

a three -studious mallet upside her head. Well...

Honestly, they don't really introduce too many

characters here. I mean you've got the boy the

brothers You've got Candice and you've got the

mom and Isabella. Oh Yeah, I guess it's Bella

wonders in yeah and Perry And major monogram

doctor and major monogram and dr. D. There's

your yeah, there's pretty much your core Yeah,

pretty much. They introduced the dad And they

introduced the dad, but they never actually show

him in this episode Well, I mean that in the

next next You know, yeah in the next half, I

guess it is and then We haven't talked about

it yet, but much later much later Introduced

Jenny and Stacey. Yeah. Yeah. Oh and you know

what actually Jeremy makes a very quick appearance

in this one at the mr slushy burger yeah and

and candace is not exactly she mentions him to

stacy on the phone yeah this episode you wouldn't

know that's him but she she doesn't go all she

thinks he's cute but she doesn't go all crazy

candace yeah yeah in this she says he's at the

mr slushy burger but she doesn't say it's the

one next to the tree next to mount rushmore Because

that's effectively where they see him. I mean

I could have been any blonde kid, you know You'd

actually have a speak. Oh, you didn't have a

speaking role. He said What do you say you want

fries with that? All right, so yes, yes we do

moments things we like about the show We've already

mentioned that Martella's Phineas was a little

off in the episode. But other than that, I love

the voice acting So they mention, Candice says

when she's trying to tell mom what Phineas and

Ferb are doing, she mentions monkeys juggling

bicycles. And she says, I still don't know how

they clean that up so fast. Did we ever see monkeys

juggling bicycles? I don't think so. Maybe the

previous summer. Yeah, maybe. Who knows? I love

how they always, and this will be, you won't

say about running gags, and it's because the

boys and Perry's paths have to cross at some

point. I do love how they intersect DEI, Doofenshmirtz,

Evelyn Corp. I love how they work around the

building, and they just have it as some building

there. The boys don't even pay any attention

to it whatsoever. I absolutely love that. Just

kind of go right past it. Yeah, dr. D versus

Perry is cool. I like the fighting that they

do in this episode There are a lot of double

hits I missed the first time watching the episode

even the first time I saw the episode way back

one years ago There's a point where? when Perry

escapes he There's a loose screw, he takes his

tail, he fires the screw, obviously he misses

Dr. Duven Schmertz, it bounces off the light

thing and comes down and hits him and basically

pokes his foot. So he basically has a screw in

his foot. And after that, when Perry escapes,

Perry then takes the wrench and hits his foot

again, driving the screw in deeper. I was like,

that's just genius. I noticed that and I was

wondering, is he trying to pin him to the floor?

I'm not sure what's going on there. What did

you like about this one? Something that I hadn't

noticed before, which was the use of a real life

photo behind the animation. At one point, you

know, all the kids are in this roller coaster

plummeting to earth and they're returning from

orbit. And there's actually an aerial photograph.

Mm -hmm, and they're they're like plummeting

toward this aerial photograph I I didn't remember

that happening. They used to actually did they

yep, okay when they go up into space That was

a photograph says no no when they go up into

space and Phineas says if that thing crashes

to Crashes into the house Candice isn't charged

right when they go back down The Earth is almost

like a photograph. They first go back down. They

could have gone either way. I wasn't sure. I

wasn't sure. But the town was definitely a photograph.

And they did it again in Candice Loses Her Head.

And I was thinking, man, is this something that

happens often and I just didn't realize it? Or

maybe that was something that they wanted to

do and they just didn't... Do it as much later

on it's kind of like, you know, they want to

do more musical numbers, but there isn't one

in roller coaster No, there isn't one in roller

coaster. So it's like maybe there maybe there's

like oh, this would be neat let's try it and

then it didn't pan out or Or maybe they're like

well, you know maybe they didn't have the budget

that they could have that they've had had that

they get in later seasons maybe the animators

could only animate the sky and in the role well

i'm sure we can do lots of small triangles but

don't ask us to do much more than that because

that's expensive well i'm serious because if

you have been If you have a shot coming down

out of the sky from space of an animated city

Yeah, you have to think that there's a lot of

things going on down there in that city. So maybe

that's I'll buy that you know, we could pay this

guy You know schmo illustrator to make a picture

of a city which could take four or five hours

Or we can just use a photo, you know, yeah, that's

cool, too The other thing I liked I don't know

why it made me giggle, but my favorite quote

here is, I'm going to go get the snakes. I was

like, oh, go get the snakes. That's awesome.

And then there was actually snakes. Yeah, when

they go over the interstate, there was actually

snakes. They come out and everybody's screaming.

He's like, don't worry, they're only rubber.

I think they had to throw that in there for small

children. What I want to know is how deep is

that? This is just hilarious to me. After the

snakes, they go... It looks like mud to me, but

Phineas never said he was going to get mud. He

said he was going to get peanut butter. It says

mud. Yeah, and it says mud on the thing. So they

go into this mud thing and what happens is the

background music drops down with them. You know,

the volume in the background music drops down

with them and then they come back up and it goes

back up. What I want to know is what the hell

happened under that mud? It was in the mud. Why

would they have mud? It just makes no sense to

me. I mean, yeah, and the funny thing, they come

out of the mud and the snakes are poking out

of the mud. I was like, they still didn't get...

I thought maybe the mud was like anti -snake

mud, but no, that wasn't the case. They're still

covered in... blood and snakes and and somewhere

in there samuel jackson is cursing i've had enough

of these mother fervent snakes on my mother fervent

coaster no it's funny we're totally going to

use that you know yes we are why curse on air

when you can make up your own curse words that's

right mother fervent snakes on my mother fervent

coaster Anything else that you liked about this

one? I don't know what covers it. Aside from

wondering what a slushy burger tastes like. Yeah!

Is it slushy? Is it a burger? I don't know. Okay,

so some people... Yeah, I don't know if this

happens around the world, but at least some people

I've seen here in the United States Will dip

their french fries in their milkshake I've never

I've never done this So I'm kind of wondering

if it's like a combination Like I see your slurpee

or you know, you know, it would have to be fruit

because it's slushy, right? Yeah, I got fruits

fruit flavored soggy burger And then later they

Kind of switch it from slushy, but they use slushy

burger and slushy dog both, but it kind of goes

back and forth So maybe it's just the whole slushy

company who knows maybe they yeah, maybe they

dip it in there and they're slush Yeah, like

different your fries and your shake you just

dip your burger in the shake Lord All right,

no, no, we don't moments things we didn't like

about the episode I have three things written

down there were things you didn't like Well,

it's okay. It's not Again, I say it's nitpicks

and whatever else and it's just observations

So dr. Doofenshmirtz his plan is to use his and

is this the only episode he doesn't use the Terminator?

No, he says Magnetism magnify exactly, you know,

he doesn't and I was gonna bring this up later,

but now you forced my hand He doesn't use the

term inator until the fast and the Phineas That's

the first episode, folks. That'll be on tomorrow.

Yeah. All right. So my first note is it's completely

turning Dr. D into a piss poor Lex Luthor. Doesn't

he know the only way to reverse the rotation

of the Earth is to fly around it at supersonic

speed backwards? I mean, come on. That's what

Richard Donner and Christopher Reeve taught us

in 1978. Exactly. Well, the Donner and Reeve

taught us that you have to reverse the rotation

of the earth and he totally would have pulled

it off if he had fastened down the tin foil in

some I'm sorry. There's no way you can pull the

eastern seaboard in a westerly direction to reverse

the rotation of the Earth, whether the tin foil

is fastened down or not. It would pull the entire

tectonic plate to the side, which would reverse

the rotation of the Earth. The physics is sound.

Sure it is. And the tin foil, come on, who didn't

see a two ton tin foil ball ending up flying

at the money? Yeah, my my question here was everyone

knows that aluminum foil isn't magnetic, you

know, but then it occurred to me it's not aluminum

foil, it's tin foil, which was the predecessor

to aluminum foil, which I don't think anybody

uses anymore. I don't think companies make tin

foil now. No, I don't think so. Aluminum foil.

The the airplane gag about how to fasten safety

belts Okay, there's no way on that steep of an

incline. Does Phineas not fall out and go crashing

to the earth when he's standing there I'm sorry

the way he is standing. He's got his I'm trying

to remember this for me. He's got his left leg

bent and his right leg extended like he's halfway

sitting, but he's actually standing. I don't

know. It was just weird. And then he turns around

and sits down. And I'm like, the sheer force

of gravity, dude, would have just flung your

skinny triangle -headed butt to the earth. This

would be an awful short series if he had fallen

to his death. I know, right? It's like we're

going for hyper -realism here, folks. The kid

with the triangle head just died miserably. I

know it's not hyper -realism and all that, but

I did laugh at the joke the first time I watched

the episode, but the seatbelt falls because somehow

he either lets go of it or whatever. Gravity.

Yeah, I mean... I hate gravity. What is there

anything you wrote down that was no no, we don't

moments well aside from phones with cords and

Phineas is Puberty voice. Yeah, yeah is his raging

hormones He was actually snippy in this one.

He you know, Candice is like, what do you have

to it? He's like doing my homework bitch, you

know Well, you know it came across that we normally

Generally Phineas is pretty jovial and he's always

happy and he's always upbeat and here he's like

Hey, leave me alone. I'll do what I want. You

know, you don't know me And I was just kind of

shocked by his tone And again, you don't notice

this till you go back to the very first episode

But yeah, yeah, I mean they've got some kinks

to iron out there which they do quickly Other

than that not so much. No, I'm good What would

you on a scale of one to five with half points?

What would you rate? Roller coaster. Oh, yeah,

I can have a gonna rate these You know knowing

what I know about later on in the season where

they or maybe it's the next season actually where

they Travel back in time back to this episode.

It's uh, it makes me want to rate it higher Just

based on the fact that, you know, it gets like

back to the future points. So I would have to

give it a four. I'm right there with you. I'm

also going to give it a four out of five. I,

you know, there was a few little things here

and there. And I mean, I really can't, you know,

take too much off for Phineas' voice. I mean,

that's, that's what Marcella had the voice be

like at that time. And it does eventually grow

into the Phineas voice that we know. uh and love

so all right folks we are gonna take a quick

break and then we're gonna come back and find

out just why candice loses her head now where

should we start hi finneas what you doing it's

a surprise can i help we could use a lookout

you got it Girl, the big stick, you gotta buy

it. Mom, you gotta see what Phineas and Ferb

are doing. Uh, excuse me. Aren't you boys a little

young to be restoring a national monument? Yes.

Yes, we are. Well, it's good to see young people

taking an interest in our national heritage.

Hull overheating. Hull overheating. The molten

lava at the Earth's core completely slipped my

mind. but the lobby is coming again! Faster!

Wait till we see what those two are up to! Up

next in this first episode of Phineas and Ferb

here inside the podcast organization without

a cool acronym, we have Candace loses her head,

Phineas and Ferb remodel Mount Rushmore for Candace's

15th birthday, while Agent P stops Dr. Doofenshmirtz

from making a tunnel to China. What is so wrong

about a tunnel to China? Are coal roads a villainous

now? Is that illegal to do? I think I thought

it was brilliant until he actually ran into the

fiery core of the planet. Are we sure Unicron's

not down there? Exactly. The lifeblood of Unicron.

Alright, so this one... I love how they reference

her 14th birthday. We got to do better than the

the monkey the gorilla in the cake See that happened

right after the Oh, what was that thing with

the monkeys with the juggling monkeys? Yeah,

yeah The monkeys juggling the bicycle exactly.

Yeah, this all happened before the series proper

I... I dig this one. I think I dig the Agent

P storyline more than I do... I mean, I like

the Candace's birthday thing. I think it's cool.

But it's just the Agent... Perry the Platypus's

adventure with Dr. D is much cooler this episode

than it was last episode. Okay. What about you

on the plot? What did you like? What didn't you

like on the plot? Well, I really thought that...

defacing a national monument is kind of small

potatoes after building a giant roller coaster

that goes across the whole city. Well, we do

have our four presidents that are up for, yeah,

four presidents up there. So I mean, it is a

- And a Candace. Yeah. And a Candace. And a Candace.

It almost makes it look like they improved it

after the fact of the explosion though, don't

you think? Yeah, they made it better. All we

had to do is introduce a lava -vomiting Candace

head to make it better. The lava it's spewing

out of her eyes It reminded me. This is terrible

We got to put a link to the somewhere, but it

reminded me of the end of Raiders of the Lost

Ark The face melting scene I was like that is

awesome Yep, yeah, it's very very true. Also.

We have to say the the title Candice loses her

head brings out the obligatory uh she was ahead

of her time and and she should have stopped while

she was ahead yes um yeah i mean i don't have

i mean as far as the overall plot uh i i think

doofenshmirtz needs to actually go to a school

and do some learning because everybody knows

the journey of the center of the earth you're

only gonna get halfway hot lava hot you're only

gonna get hot magma you know up your ass pretty

much i mean i don't see for the most part i honestly

thought maybe he had a way around that you know

maybe he was going to to build like a some type

of fireproof Tunnel or something and some of

his his plots are like dude all his I only can

think of his dude you can just get on a plane

and And and go to China. I mean good. It would

take you 15 hours. It's like a 16 hour flight

Yeah, who wants that? Honestly if I could if

I could just get on the planetary superhighway

and be there in four hours Yeah, that might be

worth it. I do that Now all I'm flashing to is

I think it's our motto. We gotta open up the

space bridge and drive in the space highway.

There you go. Open the space bridge. Well, you

know, I'm a child of the 80s, but in the 90s,

it was all about the information superhighway.

Yeah. You don't hear that very much anymore,

but like, man, it got annoying. Well, the information

superhighway got... get kind of replaced with

uh... social media social media has pretty much

taken off and you know you look at today's you

look at today's trends in today's children and

whatever else half of them are on social media

websites and they just call it social media they

don't even call it the internet i mean they just

call it social media or you know where they have

apps for this or apps for that there's an app

for everything Think as though as the internet

has gone mobile. That's kind of the Yeah, the

likely change Yep Yeah, absolutely anything else

in the plot No, just just a couple likes All

right. Yes. Yes, we do moments. I have one thing

okay the coolest part of the episode for the

boys when they were doing the construction is

actually seeing how they're doing the construction

when when isabella goes to be the lookout and

she says oh she's coming you better hurry it

up and the music speeds up and the boys speed

up you got you got i think it was finneas like

Rolling down the thing with a bunch of Pickaxes

like a wheel. Yeah, you get fur doing all this

this hammer time stuff All he needs is a bunch

of parachute pants. There you go. Um, I really

did dig that I thought that was great Uh -huh.

I was not a fan of the nose blowing The nose

blowing. Yeah. He had a bunch of pickaxes shoved

in one of the president's nostrils. And then

he just blows in the other nostril and all the

pickaxes shoot off and nail into the rock. And

I thought, ew, ew. I don't care what that nose

is made of. You don't put your mouth on someone's

nose. That's nasty. Can you imagine? Rock bogeys,

you know? No, pickaxe boogers. Pickaxe even worse.

Talk about a new way to pick your nose using

an axe. You pickaxe in your pick nose. What'd

you like about this one? I gotta say, Richard

O 'Brien is, you know, an unsung hero of you

know the actors let's say and he's the dad in

this and he has just the best dad voice he's

you know just slightly british uh and he's he's

just so mellow and upbeat he's just got a great

dad voice and he only has a few lines here but

it's memorable He gets a lot more as the series

goes along he gets a whole episode So he gets

at least I know of at least two episodes where

the plot surrounds him That will get to eventually

obviously yeah Yeah, I mean I'm glad he was in

this one though because I mean the first few

episodes they they talk about him You know dad's

cleaning the basement dad's you know off doing

something dad's blah blah blah, but this is the

first time We see him. Yeah, we actually see

they actually bring him out and introduce him.

Yeah, that's nice And the funniest thing is it's

he pretty much pulls a Clark Clark Clark Griswold

with the parking space I found a joy good space

and then they show that arrow Like three miles

away in the parking lot It kind of reminds me

of that Seinfeld episode, the parking lot of

the parking garage episode. Which level? Where

did we park again? You know, now that I think

about it, the parking lot would have been a fantastic

place to use, like a photo. As opposed to the

animation. Drawing all the cars, right? Exactly.

Because that would have been like, oh, I get

it now. Actually, they use the photo of Mount

Rushmore. instead of animal that technically

they did animate it once but it was kind of supposed

to be bad yeah yeah well they have the sign I

mean they technically show it three times they

show it right before Phineas and Ferb go up to

it they show it kind of as Candice is looking

at it yeah they then show it with plan B with

the Horribly three stooges looking picture of

it and then they showed at the end with the you

know after Candice's lost her head She should

have stopped while she was ahead Yes, yeah, but

the at the end they have the actual photo and

I was like again. I'm thinking Are the photos

backgrounds a thing that I'm? Just blocking out

of my memory or what? Yeah, I didn't remember

photo backgrounds being that and I think they

did use that for that because there was no animated

characters in front of it at the last time they

did it and Then it cuts to mom saying. Oh, yeah,

you're right. It is pretty good. That is nice.

Yeah All right. No, no, we don't moments. I have

two things here sure It's never actually stated

where Danville really is it just says it's Danville.

It's the tri -state area There's a whole episode

later in a later season or a later later this

season or next season or whatever where it's

like oh the tri -state area used to be the bi

-state area until it combined with that adjacent

is that whole thing but They never actually state

where Danville really is. It's kind of like Springfield

from the Simpsons, but being driving distance

to Mount Rushmore um really come on narrows down

your choices of where danville might be yeah

true um okay so i understand the joke i understand

the irony here but the fact that perry shoots

all the way back to the flint fletcher home Only

to learn that Dr. D is at Mount Rushmore. It

is hilarious, honestly. He gives him the squinty

eye, like... Honestly, it doesn't have... Doesn't

he have his watch? Like, couldn't Major Monogram

just have called him on the watch thing or the

communicator thing? Or maybe he hasn't gotten

that yet? I mean, granted, if that had happened,

the gag wouldn't have worked. But it's still

poor planning on Major Monogram's part. And I

think it was this cartoon, or it might be the

next, it might be tomorrow's episode with either

Fast and the Phineas or long -known beach party

at Terror, where... Major Monogram doesn't say

I, he says we at some point. In these first two

cartoons, we only see Major Monogram. We don't

see anybody else, we just assume he's the head

of it. No, there's at least one raccoon with

a hat. So we know there's at least one other

secret agent now. Yes, but I'm saying that on

the monitor... Because in later episodes he has

his his on his little unpaid intern there Okay,

I'm sorry good so so I what I'm saying is is

it him in charge Or is it this you know constructive

governmental we thing like oh my god. They did

this or we you know You know those people there,

you know, so he's a major which tells me there's

probably a lieutenant or a general somewhere

above him Mm -hmm. So I mean there's some type

of hierarchy that we're missing out on Yeah All

right, what no, no, no, no, you don't moments.

Do you have for this one? I think the only thing

that I was aggravated about was Dr. Doofenshmirtz

leaving his his regular, you know Building layer.

Yeah, the DEI headquarters and then he's got

some weird you know cluttered layer, you know

with it with a garage and The regular garage

crap in the garage This doesn't make any sense.

Like what? Okay, sure Just just wait till we

get to the episode where he actually gets a house

in the suburbs. There you go Well that you know

plus Were they just at the Mount Rushmore? Yeah.

Yeah. When they have this weird inexplicable

roller coaster being thrown across the vast distances.

Oh, yeah. In roller coasters. That's right. They

throw it across and when it comes back down,

it goes. It's been around Teddy Roosevelt's eyeglasses.

Eyeglass and then they hit the tree and bend

down and visit the slushy burger where Jeremy

is and Jeremy still there in the second episode

Hmm Strange it's very strange. Yeah, I said what

what this must be like a popular place for them

Wait slushy burger Mount Rushmore. There was

a slushy burger at Mount Rushmore. Yeah Well

Candice says because it's her 15th birthday she

does say You know, she's like, is it the mall?

It's the mall, right? No, we have to drive to

it. And then she gets all down. Don't tell me

it's Mount Rushmore again. So they must frequent

the Mount Rushmore monument. You got to live

somewhere. Is that in Nebraska? Where is that

at? South Dakota, I believe. All right. Well,

sure. Somewhere near Nebraska. I'm not bringing

it up, folks. I'm sorry. I don't want my computer

to get angry at me and start grumbling. That's

right. Don't look it up. I think it's South Dakota

for Mount Rushmore. Oklahoma! I know it's not

in Oklahoma. It has to be a mountain range. There's

no mountains in Oklahoma? I don't know. Geography

is not our strong suit. So yeah, we're not entirely

sure. It's in the Black Hills. Yeah, and that's

South Dakota. It's I'm not getting it just from

the quick blurbs on the Google page. It's Rushmore

National Come on now, it's South Dakota. There

you go Black Hills region of South Dakota completed

under the direction of Guston and Lincoln Borglum

from 1927 to 1941 Thank You Nicholas Cage, can

we move on to other national treasures now? Yeah,

what would you What would you rate Candice loses

her head I gotta rate this one suit. Um I was

not as pleased with with this one. I mean Let's

just let's give it a 3 .5 That's right where

I am. It was as exciting as as roller coaster

It that be the second showing first a cartoon

series, you know, I have I applaud the face and

firm wanting to do something special for their

sister on her birthday That's great. And I applaud

they want to improve what they did in the previous

year. I think that's right And well, I did love

dr. Dufin Schmerz's Once he realizes that the

lava is coming. He's like the lava is good like

I love Dan Dan Pavan Myers high squeaky voice

for doofenshmirtz when he he gets excited like

that and then it dies down and then cuz Perry

tries to divert the lava and Doofenshmirtz is

like I don't mean to be you know a nag or anything

or whatever he says, but the lava is coming again

I just love that part Three and a half out of

five for me as well Alright folks, that's going

to do it for this first episode of Podcast Organization

without a cool acronym. We're going to take a

quick break. I'm going to come back with final

my vehicles to extract your spark. Alright folks,

it is time to kind of close out the first day

of summer here on the Podcast Organization Without

a Cool Acronym. What are your predictions or

kind of final thoughts after watching the first

episode again of the show? Final thoughts is

Every show, you know kind of has to find their

way and they stumble a little bit in the first

couple episodes You know, if you look at shows

like You know Star Trek Next Generation, you

know that took almost a whole season before you

really start recognizing Picard, right? Right

You know that that type of thing. I'm really

happy with how quickly they they find their groove

Mm -hmm. And as you mentioned before, I'm happy

with the way that they are slowly introducing

characters into the mix. They're not throwing

a bunch of exposition at you up front. I mean,

not that they could in an 11 -minute episode

not still be entertaining, but I think they're

doing a good job of it so far, and I like the

way that they grow into their potential. Think

for me after watching the first two cartoons

the first episode of the series I I Really dig

the the camaraderie that Finneas and Ferb have

Because Ferb is the character for those that

don't know or haven't realized by now after this

first episode of the show Doesn't talk much.

He's more of a doer. He's more of a man of action

Yeah, he usually only gets a one or two lines

per cartoon episode Normally, it's only one line

and it's like usually right at the end of some

super philosophical kind of thing some great

meaning of life and you know He has a silent

Bob of the group Yeah chicks don't always bring

you lasagna. Usually they just cheat on you and

stuff Alrighty then okay Thank you for joining
