Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM Episodes 5-7 Review

Episode of pixels in the animation. I'm one of

your host to join Mike and joining me in this

epic journey is TVs. Mr. Neil Did I do that?

You know, we didn't even mention that last week.

Oh God we talked about the game franchise. We

talked about the episodes. We missed talking

about the voice cast altogether. Oh God this

summer of sonic is going to be killing us ladies

and gentlemen So today, as always, we got a juice

because it's time we went Super Sonic. That's

right, here in episode 72, we are going to continue

our coverage of Sonic the Hedgehog, also known

as SatAM. So join us, won't you, because pixels

and animation is way past cool as we celebrate

26 years of Sega's title character. Okay, so

yeah, we completely missed the voice cast last

week. Wow, alrighty then. So... Sonic the Hedgehog

himself is played by none other than... Urkel.

Now, is the voice that Jaleel does for Sonic,

is this something that you would have ever imagined

when you're playing the games? No. He's too cool,

right? Yeah, I would have expected something

more along the lines of... I don't know, harpo

marks. Wow. Shouldn't talk. Wow. Okay, then.

We also have Bradley Pierce as Tails. Interesting

voice for Tails. I think it works. He's a little

bit younger than some of the other characters

in the show. We've got Kath Susay as Princess

Sally Acorn. She also voices Nicole. the princess's

computer. We have Christine Kavanaugh as Bunny

Rabot. Yes, you heard that right folks, Bunny

Rabot. Rob Paulson as Antoine, Jim Cummings as

Dr. Robotnik, Charlie Adler as Snively, and Mark

Ballou as Rotor the Walrus. They do list a couple

other characters. They list one for the main

cast here that we have not yet met, so I'm not

going to bring her up yet. But the SWAT bots

are voiced none other than Megatron, Frank Welker

himself. So very, very cool. I will say that

Uncle Chuck is voiced by William Wyndham. I have

no idea who that man is, but okay. And you know,

we'll have other guest stars and things like

that. Oh my god, this show has a sister -sister

connection. Oh my god. I'm not even going there

right now. So what do you think overall so far

of the voice cast, at least of the ones that

we've heard to this point? I think they're all

appropriate. There's nothing that really stands

out to me that's bad. Not really the voice I

would pick for Sonic, but not not anything I

would object to mm -hmm Absolutely absolutely

all right, so We started off with Sonic and the

Secret Scrolls so last week I flubbed and I mentioned

that Sonic and Sally's was Sonic and Sally was

Sonic and the Secret Scrolls and uh... basically

the freedom fighters embark on an outlandish

mission to find magical scrolls which may hold

the key to a limited power no wonder i didn't

remember the scrolls in the other so yeah so

this is uh... this is pretty much um... are really

really bad version of uh... mysteries mysteries

is a gold mixed in with some star wars don't

like episodes like this not just for the Sonic

cartoon but in cartoons in general because I

sat through God knows how many mask episodes

with this exact same plot go into mysterious

temple you know avoid booby traps etc etc etc

try to beat venom everything out and it just

didn't just didn't work out at first hell at

first you know they start off on this adventure

I didn't even think Robotnik was gonna be in

the episode He doesn't come in until like...

These are 22 minute episodes, folks. He doesn't

come in until like the 9 or 10 minute mark. I

think. And where is Tails? Tails is not in the...

I mean, I think he's in the very beginning, but

like after that he's not even here. So yeah,

I'm not too keen on this episode. Your thoughts?

Yeah, I just... I just didn't care. What are

these episodes where my eyes are just glazing

over like, oh my god, what is even going on?

Okay, I know this is gonna sound bad, folks,

and I did go back and I did rewatch it when I

woke up, but I actually did fall asleep in the

middle of this episode. I still heard it, but

I was closing my eyes to the point where I was

drifting off. But I did stop it and go back and

rewatch it while I was awake, but yeah. Yeah,

what the hell, Sonic? Come on, people. Next episode

we had today is Super Sonic Robotnik searches

for a computer archive of spells belonging to

an ancient evil wizard Sonic heads to Robotropolis

to get the crystal before Robotnik can use it

But soon he is stripped of his legendary speed

by the wizard who compromises him That he will

have his speed back after that makes no sense

Wikipedia Okay, whatever that I swear to God

that makes no damn sense But but yeah, basically

the wizard takes away his speed because the wizard

thought he was gonna steal the spells and yada

yada yada So Sonic has to do This episode without

his speed. I like that I don't like if the wizard

was the one that took the speed But I like the

fact that they're making Sonic do something more

like do something more Having to use his brain

instead of just his brawn with his speed. I know

that's his shtick, but I mean You know even though

I know we're not gonna get character growth.

It's nice that they try What did you think of

this one? It's hard to say this is gonna reflect

in the review. It's just like I can't really

comment on things that I'm losing interest in.

Losing interest in, because, I don't know, there's

nothing offensive about the episode, I just didn't

care. I mean, what I remember about it is that,

wasn't there a bit where Sally Acorn and Bunny

Rab, I hate that name, Bunny Rab, I get turned

evil for a moment? Yes, yes, that was part of

it. Yeah, I remember that. And it was just like,

okay, he had to use that thing to turn them back,

and then they left, and... the wizard was like,

oh, you've done a good thing and I'm gonna give

you your power back. So this episode is inconsequential.

It's knowing that every episode is just gonna

hit the reset button and we're gonna be right

back to square one on the next episode. So I'm

just kind of like, I don't even know what to

say at this point. And we're only five six episodes

into this series This is the problem with having

the dark sonic is that is that it doesn't commit

Yeah That's very true you're gonna be dark you

have to have consequences You know All right

last up today is Superman versus the fly. I'm

sorry sonic racer This is pretty much the same

thing, folks. Robotnik holds a race in Robotropolis

in a bid to lure Sonic into a trap. The other

freedom fighters take advantage of Robotnik's

fixation on the race in hopes of destroying the

city's power generator. Not only do they have

to destroy the power generator, they have to

destroy the backup power generator. So there's

that. Yeah, I... Like you just said if you're

going to do a dark sonic it needs to be a full

-on story based continuity based thing You can't

like look Super Mario Super Mario Super Show

could afford to have the Mario cartoon Do various

adventures because there really is there really

was no there is a storyline in the original Super

Mario Brothers game you know you've got to save

the damn princess and they do do that in that

cartoon all the time but in the cartoon they

could afford you know and later when you get

to mario 3 they could afford to go to you know

earth and have milly vanillian and everything

else but here no if you're going to tell us about

that robotnik is oh my god technically sonic

is he man living on aetheria because robotnik

is hordak Mm. Oh my god. My head just burst.

I think I just popped a blood vessel. Ow. You

know, there were times that I was having flashbacks

of those little robot characters from the Christmas

special. Oh my god, no. You know what I'm talking

about. Yes, no. No, no, no, no, no. But I like

being evil. The only note I put down for Sonic

Racer is it's just another it's just a race episode

as I already mentioned kind of like Superman

versus the Flash or Supergirl versus the Flash

or whatever it's And yes, you do have the subplot

of the other freedom fighters going to try to

destroy the power for you know so Robotnik can't

make his stuff, but Still yeah, no No. Any other

thoughts on Sonic Racer? Only that I was trying

to think of a way to fit in a Mystery Science

Theater puma reference, but couldn't really think

of a way. I guess I got it in there. There you

go. Alright folks, we're gonna take a quick break

overall thoughts So far as we've gotten more

and the Skrulls, we had Super Sonic and Sonic

Racer. Sonic and the Skrulls, I gotta give a

one. I just... i'm not a fan of those types of

episodes in the episode really went to nowhere

uh... they had a nice battle scene again great

animation great voice acting but again if the

story isn't there then it's just not there what

about you yeah i gotta give it a one because

i didn't care and if i don't care i can't i can

assume that anyone else will so i can't recommend

it Super Sonic I kind of liked it. I wish it

was a little bit better, but three and a half

for me I guess it's not the worst episode I Guess

I'll give it a two and a half. Okay And Sonic

racer One and a half like serious like I was

really hoping we were gonna get to better cartoons

here folks You know, you know, it's gonna be

the shocker of all shockers for this podcast

If adventures were giving three fours and fives

out There there is a possibility We talked about

that on animation fish not I had not really seen

either show and length and I did I did have to

kind of concede depends observation that That

the way these two shows are perceived is kind

of backwards that the latter show is probably

the better What are you going to give Sonic Racer?

Probably a one. Yeah, definitely a one. Just

didn't care. Definitely a one. Definitely a one.

Yeah, definitely a one. Good old runt. Oh boy.

pops it's a snack that booking because it's so

rich and creamy and mom won't throw you into

the old dungeon when you eat it because she knows

it's made with real pudding Jell -O brand pudding

pops. All the goodness of real Jell -O pudding

made with milk so you know it's wholesome. A

vegetable feast for the tummy. And I won't end

up in the dungeon. The box says fat -free, but

my taste buds say it's too good to be fat -free.

And I believe my taste buds, I've known them

longer. Fat -free Jell -O pudding. Dessert is

back and it's fat -free. juice.
