About this Episode

Steve, Mike, Optimus Solo, and guest Dan from Movie Revolt preview upcoming theatrical releases from February through June 2012. The hosts discuss their most anticipated films across the six-month span, including The Hunger Games, 21 Jump Street, The Cabin in the Woods, The Avengers, and The Dark Knight Rises, plus their thoughts on January releases.

Hi, this is John Delancey and you are listening

to the Geekcast Radio Network. Hello and welcome

to Movie Week in Review's 2012 Movie Preview

Part 1. I'm your host, Steve Megatron Phillips,

and joining me here on this awesome adventure

to the theaters are... DFJ and Mike. Hello. Optimus

Solo is also here. And joining us for the first

time... Movie revolt Dan. Yes, welcome aboard.

Long time since our first time host. A little

bit of a writer too, you know. Got to bring that

stuff in there somehow. Yeah. So before we get

started into the whole... list of movies that

we have on the agenda today. Why don't you tell

the listeners, being that this is your first

time on a GeekCast Radio Network show, a little

bit about yourself. Okay, obviously people who

are listening and whatnot. Considered myself

a geek. Big fan of Star Wars. Grew up in the

90s with comics. Loved the 1990s X -Men cartoons.

Loved Batman and Spider -Man, of course. That's

what first attracted me to GeekCast Radio. Started

listening and definitely became even more interested.

Also a big lover of movies, as you can tell.

Tend to, I love all types of movies from like

1920s silent French films to your brainless action

film. So definitely my passion is preferred without

a doubt is just movies. So hopefully I can shed

a little insight into this episode. Awesome.

And jumping just before we get into our February

to June picks of what we're pretty much looking

forward to. uh... mike i believe you had a little

bit that you wanted to bring up as far as the

january films yeah uh... really only to the net

now that i go back and look at the list of what

came out in january uh... contraband actually

three contraband haywire and one for the money

all look really really awesome uh... one for

the money is probably the one i'm most looking

forward to considering it's based on the uh...

former lingerie buyer turned bounty hunter book

series by Janet Ivanovich that I've been reading

since 2000. But Contraband just looked so interesting

from the trailer and so did Haywire. I thought

Haywire looked really good as well. Haven't seen

Contraband. I have seen it and it is really good.

It's your typical Mark Wahlberg movie though

So yeah, if you've seen any of his other films,

like if you've seen shooter, it's pretty much

gonna run along the same lines You said shooter

and not the big hit because if it ran the same

lines as the big hit we'd be in trouble or the

Italian job or It ended up being a really good

heist movie. It had the potential to be even

better But it's a real good heist movie Smuggling

heist type movie Yeah, I enjoy it though Out

of that list who I actually did see haywire which

you mentioned I enjoyed it for the most part

the acting is a little flat actually it stars

an MMA star was the first time she was acting

and you can kind of tell she was you mean she

was kind of bland but the action was done really

well and The other performances were fine. So

I definitely if you're looking forward to I think

you know, just a regular action film I mean if

you're familiar with other Steven Soderbergh

films like The Big Head or Traffic, it's along

those same lines of style and you know Besides

Contraband I saw Extremely Loud and Incredibly

Close even though it technically I guess in some

places came out in December, but That was I thought

was a really good movie. I also saw Red Tails

Which had its really good moments and had a couple

bad moments but overall as a history person I

can appreciate Red Tails and then I saw The Grey

which a lot of people were upset when they saw

the end of The Grey and I'm not going to spoil

anything but I thought it was perfectly done

and it's probably one of the best survival movies

I've ever seen. I will I'll use the term with

quotations around it. I agree with you there

I saw The Grey as well and I thought it was excellent

I thought it was a million times better than

what I expected so and I also love the ending

so I myself have not seen that yet. I am going

to see it eventually, just not in theater. I

did see the Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

That was really good. I saw Joyful Noise, which

surprisingly wasn't bad. I wanted to see Underworld,

but didn't get to see that either. Think that

about cuts it for me for the for the January

month though. Yeah Yeah, that's all the movies

I saw in January. I saw Descendants in January,

but that was a release in 2011 So without further

ado we'll jump into a couple of movie trailers

and right into the February releases You refer

to the prophecy of the one who will bring balance

to the force. You believe it's this boy? The

Force isn't usually strong with him. An adventure.

At last, we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi.

At last, we will have revenge. Oh, my! Just hang

on! Take them out. All of them. for you as well.

What were you doing on the computer? Yeah, photographing

my girl. I was doing the same thing. You want

to see her? You got three. One, two, three. That's

Lauren, Lauren Scott? I feel weird about dating

two guys at once. You're the glorious dino, got

arrested and sat in a jail cell so you could

act like a little bitch? I think I'm going to

hell. Get out there. You get flexible. You go

out. You date her. Besides the fact, if I got

in the picture, it wouldn't even be fair. I'm

sorry. What does that mean? I think we should

lay down some ground rules. I think we should.

I don't think we should tell her that we know

each other. Let's stay out of each other's way

and just let her decide. May the best man win.

This is a live operation. It's a full wrap and

tap, boys. I want you to follow Agent Hanson.

Don't let your country down, boys. This has been

the perfect night. Make it rain. Really? Have

you ever killed anybody with your bare hands?

Not this week. Tuck, this is my friend. Okay,

you can do this. They'll probably just shake

hands. I think I'm gonna pass out. I'm available

to have sex with both of those guys just to test

out stuff and see who comes back a winner. Why

is she listening to that old man? I have no idea.

I think my triggering mechanism was stuck in

the... Oh my God! And we're back with the February

lineup. So, starting off, we're going to jump

over to Mike. and have him tell his picks first?

The entire month of February I probably only

have maybe six. I really do want to see Safe

House. That looks really really interesting.

It's probably the only Ryan Reynolds movie I

actually actively want to see. Ghost Rider Spirit

of Vengeance that looks okay for a comic book

movie And honestly, probably the first time I

ever really want to see a Tyler Perry movie is

Good Deeds that looks really interesting. I really

enjoyed the trailer of that the rest of them

are Probably Redbox or Netflix just just wait

till they come out For media release. I mean

none of these are really jumping out at me as

far as I must go see them in the theater at all.

Boo. Anyway. I mean, you know, I can wait and

I'd much rather just watch them at home and just

enjoy them in peace and quiet without having

to worry about, you know, kids screaming at the

top of their lungs as Nicholas Cage's skull bursts

into flames. I've never been in a theater where

kids scream at the top of their lungs. I have.

Question is that because Mike entered it or is

that because of the movie? No some movies you

just have to see in the theater though some movies

do not have the same effect on a Computer screen

or a TV screen unless you have a movie theater

size screen in your house. I Will agree in some

cases, but everything in February I can wait

for it. I would say that there's a couple exceptions.

There are. I mean, Safe House I would love to

go see in the theater. That is probably my one

exception. My one issue with the month of February

is Journey 2. First of all, what the fuck happened

to Journey 1? I've never even heard of this series.

Journey to the center of the earth was the first

one. Okay. So they just called it Journey 2 because

it's another journey but not to the center of

the earth. That's fucking stupid. And then they

have the rock instead of Brendan Fraser, but

they got the same kid Which I don't get the correlation

considering the dad is supposed to be dead. So

I don't know who the hell he's supposed to be

I Just say if Brendan Fraser says no to your

movie, it's not a good sign that's gonna be cut

That's why they put the rock and he's back up.

Yeah, I guess I mean it could be good. I mean

it's made it's like It's the biggest movie worldwide

so far, so it's kind of crazy. So what are your

choices, Dan? Well, I guess I'll start with what

I already saw this month. I saw Chronicle. We

talked a little bit about that. But it's a found

footage film, and I know that aesthetic. A lot

of people hate it. You get it with Flair Rich

Project and Paranormal Activity. So if it's something

you don't like, I would definitely avoid it.

I thought it was OK. The ending kind of surprised

me. went more epic than I expected. I would say

it's a rental, not something you need to go see.

I also saw Ghost Rider. I did a review that's

on the site. I would skip it, honestly. It's

better than the first one and that's about it.

And I just saw Active Valor today, which also

is not very good. The action's fine, but besides

that it's kind of... It lacks, the script's pretty

weak. But what I'm looking forward to seeing,

which I haven't seen yet, I'm a little curious

about The Woman in Black, which is of course,

you know, Harry Potter trying to be something

else, so I'm kind of curious how that turns out.

And Wonderlust as well, which is directed by

the guy who did Wet Hot American Summer, which

a lot of people love. I'm not a huge fan of it,

I think it's okay. And he also directed Role

Models, which I really do enjoy, so I'm a little

curious about that. But let's pretty much it

for this month. It's kind of a weak month as

far as the overall year goes I saw safe house

We already kind of talked about that and I thought

that was you know a minor league version of the

born movies But it's still solid and still still

very watchable and Denzel's good in just about

anything he does I unfortunately I say that kind

of trepidatiously, but I saw Star Wars episode

1 in 3d Just because the Star Wars fandom has

to be able to say that I saw every version of

Star Wars that ever hit the theater. I did forget

how slow that movie was and if anyone has a chance,

go to YouTube and search what if Star Wars Episode

1 was good. The guy that does that video is phenomenal.

He basically rewrites the movie and keeping elements

and taking some elements out is really cool.

Go ahead. Was that red letter media? I don't

know who there's a guy on YouTube or there's

a guy on the internet called red letter media.

He Basically has reviewed every single Star Wars

all six films, but they're like 70 minute YouTube

video No, no, this is just a 10 minute. This

is a 10 minute thing. It's a what -if and he

he does a really good job So it's called what

if Star Wars episode 1 was good or something

along those lines I We'll probably see Act of

Valor, even though I've heard nothing good about

it, just because I want to at least see it and

judge for myself, I guess. Other than that, I

mean, I'm slightly interested in Wanderlust,

but February does nothing for me. Yeah, it's

typically a bad month for movies. Kind of like

a dumping ground for, you know, this isn't good

enough for the summer, so we'll put it in February

and hopefully it does well. Agreed. Steve? Well,

I'm going to start out with the ones that I've

seen, first of all. I saw Big Miracle, which

wasn't bad. It was actually pretty good, being

that it was based off a true story. Chronicle,

like I said, off air, we went and saw that thinking

it was one kind of movie and ran out 40 minutes

in. Wanting to watch a different movie Because

I just I can't get into those kind of movies

where people are running around with the camera

Like I hated Cloverfield. I hated paranormal

activity. So I mean obviously I'm gonna hate

this so I'm Kind of curious about journey to

I'll probably wait till it goes on DVD before

I see that Likewise for safe house. I just I

didn't get out to see it. So I'm probably just

gonna wait Star Wars I own it so there's not

really a reason for me to go see it in 3d and

I think it's kind of stupid that they're Tacking

on the money they're making on the 3d version

to their total amount profit wise that they made

Well, it's not just that movie though. Every

movie does that. Oh, I know but I'm thinking

that's kind of retarded because it's It's just

tacking on and it's technically a second release

with the 3d tag so Almost different but not really

so it's in a way cheating. So they do that too

when it's even that and like when uh, God, what

was the movie like sometimes they're like on

an anniversary when a movie gets rereleased just

in regular 2d, you know, just like a like ET

comes back for like a whatever screen like no

matter what any time it's ever in a theater the

ticket money goes to their total it's just I

agree with you that it seems like it's kind of

cheating but To be fair, movies did that all

the time back in the day, like Gone with the

Wind was re -released like every year. Movies

used to be in theaters for years, because that's

all you had. So, I mean, nowadays it's, what,

a couple months. So I kind of, I mean, I kind

of, it is kind of unfair, because now you have

3D, those are higher ticker places, plus you...

count inflation so it's like right now Star Wars

episode one is the highest grossing Star Wars

film in America which seems kind of wrong to

say so it'll it'll change when they hit 3d release

though but I I personally I dislike the 3d gimmick

so I won't go see them in 3d if yeah if they're

out for that so I agree with you it was I will

I do have to just button and say one thing though

because George I was kind of thinking that this

is what was gonna be the case because usually

after the fact adding 3d is really terrible.

See Clash of the Titans a couple years ago for

a good example of that. The Star Wars episode

1 proved that even though George Lucas makes

a bad decision sometimes with the... Well, a

lot of things when it comes to the movie. He

is a genius when it comes to visual effects and

for a post 3D effects it was spectacularly done.

Which most movies cannot pull that off after

the fact, but LucasArts apparently can. I absolutely,

the only thing I'm gonna say on it is I absolutely

love when they do those anniversary releases

like, hey it's back in theaters, come see it,

go enjoy it again in the theater. I remember

seeing Scarface in the theater in college and

that was excellent. Yeah, but my problem is the

same as what Steve said. To 3D it up just to

get that extra ticket. That's not why they did

it. No, that is exactly why they did it, so they

get the extra ticket price. No, he did not. He

did it because he wants to gain a whole new generation

of fans. Well, he could have done that by just

releasing it. Oh yeah, but you might as well

do it in 3D if that's the big thing right now.

And that's to get more money! It was a combination

of both. I think it's too. I think George Lucas

just wants to feel relevant and like that so

after a while I think he needs to feel relevant

again, so he tries to reinvent stuff. Well, it's

like he makes changes to the franchise just to

fuck with the fans. I mean there was like 12

or 13 years of people that weren't allowed to

see that in the theater because I hadn't been

born yet since you know when it came out in 99

2000 whatever year was and I will say when I

was in the theater watching episode 1 in February

there was a Handful now I went you know at a

time where there wasn't a lot of people in the

theater But there was two or three kids in the

theater and they like probably ages four to seven

they absolutely were going crazy and loving it

and Yeah, you know Mean, I think it's a great

idea great idea to release them Like you said

a whole new generation never get to see that

again I mean I love to do it if they do it for

even more films like I'd love to see Jurassic

Park re -released not in 3d But definitely in

the theater again because it's one of those experiences

that it's it's seeing a movie in a big screen

Especially one of huge effects. It's it's you

know, something that is great and it should be

shared and It sucks when a movie came out 20

years ago, and you won't be able to see that.

Going to see Jaws or something of that nature

would be great to see in the theater. Right.

And like most of us, we never got to see the

original Star Wars movies in the theater. If

they had never been re -released, we would never

get that experience of seeing them in the theater.

True. Very true. And it was released in 2d as

well in some areas. So I mean you did have the

choice so you didn't have to see in 3d Most areas

are 3d. But yeah, I I know some do 2d as well

at least for the new releases they do The other

two movies that I saw were the vow which actually

was really good It's aligned the same lines of

like the the notebook and that kind of film This

means war. I'd have to say it was one of my favorite

movies of the month. Just because it's two spies

fighting over the same girl. It's hilarious.

Spy versus spy. That's what they should have

called that movie, but they probably couldn't.

Well, yeah. Well, I mean, it's funny because

on the poster it says spy and spy. And I was

like, that movie's spy versus spy. And then I

actually... Read the title and it says this means

war. I'm like, yeah, I can kind of see that but

I I think it's funny when I read like review

ratings and they're really low to movies that

were really good so But that that was one of

my favorite movies of the month. I'd I'd have

to say Interesting I don't have any other choices

for this month because the rest of them weren't

relevant to me So is there anything else you

guys want to mention for February? I think that's

it. Dark, dark time. Yes. Let's move on to a

much shorter list for March. Did your ball land

in my backyard again? A model airplane. This

time. Let's go take a look. Whoa! This is amazing!

What are those? Those are trees. They used to

grow all around here. What I want more than anything

is to see a real living tree. So, Mom, do you

happen to know if there's, like, any place? where

I could get a real tree? Did you chop down this

tree? What's that? I think he did it. Peanut,

I'll go right up your nose. You wouldn't hit

a woman. That's a woman Not so slim shady, what's

up, dude? I haven't seen you since high school.

Hey You're good at this, huh? Test results, gentlemen.

Such a fool. You're really good at this. Yeah.

Hey, you wanna be friends? Yeah, dude You're

ready for a lifetime of being badasses. Oh, I

am. I thought this job would have more car changes

than explosions. You're dead. Yours isn't loaded,

right? No, that's no fun. What's up, chief? We

got our first bus. I got him! You forgot to read

him his Miranda rights. Do you even know the

Miranda rights? Look, it obviously starts with,

do you have the right to remain an attorney?

Do you say you have the right to be an attorney?

You do have the right to be an attorney if you

want to. We're reviving a canceled undercover

program from the 80s. Where do we report to?

Down on Jump Street. 21 Jump Street. You are

here because you're some Justin Bieber, Miley

Cyrus looking mugs. You will be going in as undercover

high school stools. You have a sexual muscle

tone there, young man. When'd you go through

puberty? Like at seven or something? There's

a new synthetic drug at Sagan High. The mission

is finding a supplier. I think the dealers are

the popular kids. We should start a party. That

would be the quickest way to get in with them.

Come on, let's go. Don't give nobody no drugs,

no alcohol. I promise you we'll be super professional.

Take it here so I know you're cool. Have fun.

Are you guys on drugs? I don't like that. Put

your tongue back in your mouth. A lot of things

have made me wonder about you. Your taste in

music. The fact that you look like a 40 -year

-old man. Let me check out your chest. Check

out your chest. After what you pulled yesterday?

There's no way you could be cops, right? Will

you go to prom with me? I was freezing! Oh! When

did I get stabbed? That's awesome! Why do you

always jump across the car like that? Because

it looks cool. You try. You okay? I think I cracked

my pants. We could do it, you know. Take off,

live in the woods. They'd catch us. Well, maybe

not. We wouldn't make it five miles. left one

courageous young man and woman for the honor

of representing District 12 in the 74th Annual

Hunger Games. It's your first year of prayer.

My name's only been in there once. They're not

gonna pick you. They just want a good show. That's

all they want. There's 24 of us, Gal. Only one

comes out. So you're here to make me look pretty?

I'm here to help you make an impression. And

so it was decreed that each year, the 12 districts

of Panem... shall offer up in tribute one young

man and woman between the ages of 12 and 18 to

be trained in the art of survival and to be prepared

to fight to the death. This is the time to show

them everything. Make sure they remember you.

I just keep wishing I could think of a way to

show them that they don't own me. If I'm gonna

die, I wanna still be me. I just can't afford

to think like that. We're back with the March

selections of films What are your choices Kevin

um There I mean there's nine or ten You know

wide -release movies in March that people will

go see out of those the ones that I would probably

pick out or that I have comments for I'm intrigued

by 21 Jump Street It seems like it's this year's

other guys the other guys from uh what was that

2010 um hopefully it's as funny as the other

guys was i'll probably go see it but i could

see myself being disappointed um but like i said

i'm intrigued so i'll give it a shot uh the hunger

games i will definitely be giving this franchise

a chance the books uh people go nuts about the

books um i'm hoping that it can do you know what

a lot of franchises have done recently and you

know just create a excitement in both well children

and and people of all ages to read it's always

good when people get excited about reading so

I'm hoping I can do that and it looks like it's

a pretty good could be a pretty good franchise

so I will definitely be seeing the Hunger Games

the only other movie I really want to comment

on is the wrath of the Titans I'm not saying

this is necessarily my pick, but I want to comment

on it because, you know, Clash of the Titans

was so... there were so many mistakes made. Basically,

it will forever be cursed as being one of the

first major films to add 3D effects after the

fact and totally suck at it. The 3D in Clash

of the Titans was terrible. So that being said

this one should actually over time be seen as

the better of the two I Would guess I questioned

the release timing of this though this to me

is a summer popcorn Action -packed blockbuster

type movie and it's coming out in March So I

don't quite understand the timing of that But

like I said, I think over time this will be seen

as the superior of so far the two Titan movies.

So those are the only ones that I'd really have

interest in somewhat for March. Mike? Hearing

Danny DeVito as the Lorax is kind of weird. Oh,

I forgot. That movie is worth seeing only because

it is from the creators of Despicable Me. Yeah.

I'm just waiting on Despicable Me 2 at this point.

Next year. I know. Honestly, March is pretty

much dead for me. The only one that really, really

caught my interest was Mirror Mirror. And Mirror

Mirror and Snow White versus The Huntsman, those

two are going to be battling each other, which

is the better new live -action Snow White story.

At this point, I can't decide between Julia Roberts

and Charlize Theron as far as who is the better

queen. I think that's kind of an easy one. This

one has a great cast, but something about the

trailer just doesn't sit right with me yet. Yeah,

it's very weird. This is going to be like a yearly

trend as we've seen. Like this is like the new

big thing to do is to bring back all of these

fairy tales and stuff like that and make it like

adult themed like mature versions live action.

Yeah, exactly. As far as the Hunger Games, even

before reading and researching it for this show,

before reading the plot synopsis and seeing all

the other trailers, I've been seeing trailers

for this and I've been hearing people talk about

this. I just never understood, even watching

the trailer, I was like so dumb. I didn't know

what the fuck the movie was about just from watching

the trailer. I'm like, what is this? And I read

the description. I'm like, oh, OK, yeah, not

for me at all. It's I don't hate it But it's

it has anything that's gonna be a franchise that's

gonna be popular Well, you know it is the new

Harry Potter. So there you go Basically that

that movie is the running game with teenagers.

It's basically kind of the plot of it. I mean,

yeah Yeah, that's it for March for me Dan Like

we've already mentioned March is kind of weak.

There's not a huge amount some of the bigger

stuff I'm looking forward to Well, I will be

seeing The Hunger Games, even if I don't want

to. My wife's a big fan of the series, so I'm

gonna be dragged to that. So I'm kind of curious

about it. I've heard a lot of good things. I

think one reason there's not a lot of movies

coming out this month is because a lot of people

are scared of The Hunger Games and John Carter,

which both are like trying to be tentpole franchises

and pretty much have sequels set up already.

So I think that's why a lot of studios didn't

release a lot this month. decision of a title

for a movie I I was left wondering what the hell

that even was when the when the when the title

comes up on the preview you're like what yeah

pretty much I mean it's from that I mean it's

from a classic novel like John Carter from Mars

but I guess I thought from Mars would scare people

off so they took it away yeah I'm I probably

won't see that in theaters I might rent it just

nothing it just nothing about it attracts me

that much Like you mentioned 21 Trump Street.

I'm curious about that as well. I think that

could be kind of funny You could think you could

surprise some people and two smaller films which

are getting a limited release Which I hoping

will probably get a wider release One is the

raid which is actually I believe a Brazilian

I forget exactly what country it's from but it

was huge last year at TIFF and it's supposed

to be just great action film. So I'm looking,

hopefully that gets a bigger release. And also

Jeff, who lives at home, which stars Jason Segel

and Ed Helms. And I'm a fan of both of those.

So again, like those are limited releases. So

I couldn't see them even if I wanted to, but

it's not much else is coming out. So it's pretty

much all I have for March. My choices would be,

I think the Lorax would be good just for the

same reasons that Kevin stated before. You know

creators just despicable me and then the the

3d CG work that they've got on it and then the

voice cast is pretty good So that that looks

very good to me More so than some of the other

dr. Seuss adaptations Yeah, I will agree with

that out of all I've never been able to get excited

about the dr. Seuss ones But for me, this would

be the one that I would most likely want to see

Yeah over like I would rather see this over like

Horton. Here's a who I just look stupid to me

That was that's not even kid -friendly that one's

just downright dirty like that's worse than the

Grinch The other movie that I think might be

pretty good it just depends and it's because

of the actor you can go either way a thousand

words with Eddie Murphy Eddie Murphy I think

you pin you nail that one on the head. It's like

I can't trust a movie that he's in and I haven't

been able to since the 80s But every once in

a while he makes one that's worth watching, but

there's so many bad ones in between. Well, since

Beverly Hills Cop, he hasn't done a decent film

that, I mean, it honestly hasn't. That's why

none of them have got. Beverly Hills Cop 2 was

good. Coming to America in the Beverly Hills

Cop. And then I was like, yeah. Yeah, after the

80s, he was pretty much it was give or take.

But this one looks interesting just because he's

his normal fast talking jackass that screws himself

by getting a curse to where he can only speak

a thousand more words or he dies. It reminds

me so much of like Liar Liar or something like

that. Yeah. But this is such a more final take

on it. Yeah, that's true. I think I heard something

about he's going to be voicing Hong Kong Fooey

in some type of live action movie next year or

in a couple years. No. Why'd you have to bring

that up? Phil Lamar come on Yeah 21 Jump Street

looks like for the same reasons that you else

also stated Kevin I think that that could go

either way That could be a good film or it could

be bad. I think it just from what I've seen so

far It looks like it could be pretty good based

on the fact that it's supposed to be technically

a sequel to the our original series. It's just

more of a comedy take on it for the modern day.

So that looks like that could be pretty good.

The Hunger Games, I've heard so much about it

that it's probably going to be the next Harry

Potter and be bigger than Harry Potter and Twilight

just because... Well, if it's not bigger than

Twilight, I'm going to be pissed. It's already

broken both Twilight and Harry Potter records

for pre -sales, so it's probably gonna be bigger

than both of those films. Well, the hard thing

about Harry Potter is it's not gonna have, I

mean, Hunger Games isn't gonna have eight or

nine or however many movies Harry Potter did.

It's gonna have three, I believe. It probably

won't beat it. I think Harry Potter is never

gonna be in as an overall franchise, but maybe

as an individual film it might, you know, it's

gonna be up there. Well, I know that... My wife

was trying to get a hold of the book to read

it and we were checking all the libraries online

and they were all booked out. They had between

all the local libraries, they had like, I think

38 copies and it was backlogged for like 120

something people. And I was like, well, we're

not getting that. So I think she got it at the

store. I don't, I don't know, but I'd much rather

have have the kids and the teens and everybody

be excited about the Hunger Games over Twilight.

Yes, yes, this looks like this could be actually

good Mirror mirrors kind of give or take for

me because I'm I I'd like the concept however

I don't think the execution is gonna be very

well just because I would rather watch the ABC

show once upon a time then sit and watch this

probably This to me would be more of a DVD rental,

but I would I don't totally put it off either

yeah, so I think that wraps up my March films.

There's not very many that I care to see that

are coming out this month. Nope. Hopefully it

gets better. Yes, and it shall. So after this,

we'll be back with April. One of these days,

he's gonna be able to go to bed on his own, right?

Ladies, better be working hard. You weren't hired

for your looks. Actually, you were. Not you.

Mmm, dinner smells great. And don't forget, we

still have to watch Real Housewives. Hey, Kev,

you know who my favorite housewife is? You. The

reunion. You in? Seems like everyone's actually

going, dude. Hey, guys! You made it! What's up,

class of 99ers? We're gonna party together? Hell

yeah. Just like old times. Let's make this reunion

our bitch. Cheers! You're a lucky man, Oz. Hey

guys, do you need a stare? Yes. Yes, we do need

a stare. Looks like a high school party. With

high school chicks. I love the Twilight books.

New Moon is my favorite. Mine too! Oh my god,

it's like... We have so much in common. Can I

tell you how exciting it is to see all you kids

back in town? You know, Dad, it's been three

years. Do you think maybe it's time for you to

get back out there? Have a shot. Oh, no, no,

no. I don't think so, Steven. I'm not, uh. Drink

it. Drink it. Drink it. Drink it. Drink it. Drink

it. Drink it. American Reunion. It was a blessed

day when through these hallowed gates a stranger

rode and delivered unto them a miracle. This

spring... What is that gadget? This is an iPhone.

iPhone? Uh -huh. Hello? There's nobody there.

Get some mold. Spread out! Mind your P's and

Q's. Don't forget to dot the I's. Certainly.

Larry, he's got a headache. No, I don't. How

about now? Yeah, it's coming on. And Curly. Hey,

guys! Yeah! Oh, hiya, Sister Bernice! There's

something different about you. Did you get a

haircut? From 20th Century Fox. You got any dynamite?

Hiya, snook. I got you a present. Really? Yeah,

go on, open it. Ow! Dear God. Get the inspector.

This crime is familiar to me. Edgar Allan Poe.

To what may I attribute the honor of your call?

The night before last a young girl and her mother

were found murdered. The daughter's body was

lodged in a chimney. Mother's head severed with

a straight razor. You're referring to one of

my stories. A work of fiction. I'm afraid I am

not. Do you actually think that I murdered these

people? What cannot be disputed is that your

imagination is the inspiration of a horrendous

crime. I love you, Edgar. Be careful. I believe

the killer is taunting us. I challenge a brilliant

detective mind of Edgar Allan Poe, a game of

whips. If I will kill a Ganon on that new corpse,

I will leave clues. As unfortunate as this is,

you may be uniquely qualified to cast light on

our killer. The pit and the pendulum. Are there

other stories in the collection? Specifically

about murder. He wants us to know he's gonna

strike again. Stop! I dare you to try to save

your beloved's life. Where is she? He will keep

her alive to keep you involved. As part of his

game, and only. I would gladly give my life for

her. I know you would. I'll send you to hell!

No matter how this ends, I will kill him. And

we're back with the April releases. So, who wants

to go first? I think I will, because there's

not a lot in April that I care about. You're

such an anti -movie fan these days. I'm just

kidding. Okay, here's the thing, and I've told

you this before off air, and I don't know if

I've ever stated this on air. For me going to

the theater, it has to be Transformers, G .I.

Joe, Dark Knight. Iron Man, you know, something

big and huge and whatever. I don't go all the

time, hence why I don't mind waiting to enjoy

a movie in my own home. The only reason why I

want to go first is because I don't understand

why. Okay, I know movies are generally released

on a Wednesday or a Friday. I don't understand

with the 100th anniversary of the Titanic sinking

they could not release Titanic 3d on April fucking

12th It's a Thursday. I get it whatever but that's

coming out April 6th That's what you think I

have I have an underground plot That is secretly

trying to get a hold of all of those movie reels

and destroy them before they can be seen Well,

yes, that was the first and the last three -hour

film I ever went to see whether you've ever seen

in the theater And I never will that was the

only three -hour film that I've seen in the theater

for a girl, so American reunion do we really

need another American pie movie really that's

what my notes were are you freaking serious?

Huh my note was are you freaking serious? Well

see here's the thing okay? They had American

Pie 1 -2 and then they had American Wedding.

Van Camp and... Hold on, hold on. And then they

went and did these direct DVD bullshit things.

It's basically like the Lampoons. Pretty much,

yeah. Or the Van Wilders or whatever. Yeah, exactly.

American Pie 1 -2 and 3, I don't mind because

it's all the original cast. Those direct DVD

things suck. Because it may be only be one of

because I don't know the information for me I

think I think one of those films had like maybe

one or two of the original cast members and now

because oh It's high school reunion time Let's

have American reunion and see where everybody

is after 20 fucking years or however the hell

long it's been see it would have been a good

idea if they would have done like American pie

one and two and then nothing else and then done

the reunion. Can you imagine if they released

the first 3D in 3D re -release? But I'm just

saying if they hadn't killed it before they did

the reunion, that would have made sense. People

would have been like, yeah, I'll buy it. It's

a high school reunion or a college reunion or

whatever it is. But they just beat the thing

to death. Well, and that's why this particular

film is coming back with the entire original

cast of the first movie. Because they can't make

any other money any other way with this franchise

anymore because they've beaten it with a stick

And pretty much like a lot of the actors from

that franchise haven't done much I mean the person

who has probably the best career is Sean William

Scott and who would have thought that? Would

be the guy who and Jason Biggs is in the new

Ninja Turtles cartoon true. I mean, yeah Alice

and Hannigan's and how I met your mother and

yeah, the rest of them are nobody The other one

for me that's that's coming out in April The

three stooges I was extremely skeptical when

I heard that the Fairly brothers were getting

a hold of this because The Fairly brothers are

mainly known for dick and fart jokes Your favorite

thing Your favorite thing You know Seeing the

trailer and and reading the description. It looks

decent but No, I mean for me the The the made

-for -tv movie with Michael Chiklis and a couple

other people Michael Chiklis played Curly on

NBC. It was an NBC made -for -tv movie three

stitches 2000 that was It wasn't called 2000,

it was made in 2000. I thought that was pretty

decent. I mean, I'll probably see this eventually.

They look like the three stooges, like to me,

like the Dumb and Dumber people look like the

original Dumb and Dumber people. I just don't

buy them as those people. Yeah. As far as the

rest of April, that's pretty much it for me.

I have no other picks in April. I didn't really

care for any of the films that are coming out

in April. I'm surprised you didn't want to see

Safe. You're a big fan of Jason Statham. Yeah,

as we've said before on this podcast and other

podcasts, his movies are all the same. I looked

at the description and the note I wrote down

was, I don't feel the need to watch this trailer

after I saw Jason Statham's name connected to

it. Exactly. But then I said, I'll watch it anyways.

And then my next note is, yep, as I figured,

didn't need to watch the trailer. Yeah. That's

it. That's it for April. That's it for me. I

don't know about you, Kev. What do you got? Well,

the first one I'm surprised, and I know a lot

of people might not expect this because whatever,

but the Disney chimpanzee movie, I think it looks

absolutely amazing. I don't know why. I think

it looks like it can be something incredible,

and I think it's going to have a humongous buzz,

and it's something that really hasn't been done

to this extent. I mean, we did have the I guess

you like The March of the Penguins or whatever

that one was. But I don't know. Something about

the trailer sucks me in for that one. See, here's

the thing. Disney has broken off in so many different

directions. And I love how they've done this,

that they're able to cover all of this scope.

The chimpanzee movie is Disney Nature. Yeah.

And it's in the same vein as what they do with

African cats. But this for some reason even looks

more amazing than any of the other ones that

have ever tried to do what they're doing here.

I mean, it's like they totally have like a movie

and a story, but it's all nature and it's, I

don't know, for some reason I'm intrigued and

I like monkeys, so whatever. Who doesn't like

monkeys? Also coming out the same day, Lockout.

I think this is a fantastic idea for a movie.

I think it's very unique as far as the... You

know, obviously this is a sci -fi futuristic

and, you know, the worst prisoners or whatever

go to a prison that is located in orbiting, you

know, in space. I'm like, what kind of crazy,

unique, clever idea is that? Silver hot's the

movie. And I can't believe that it's never been

done before, actually. I mean, I'm sure it has.

I'm sure some sci -fi fanatic will be able to

tell me that there has been something like this.

But in a wide, you know, release in a big time

movie, I've never seen this idea before. Will

the movie be great? Absolutely, probably not.

But I'm absolutely going to watch it. And honestly,

it gives me the feel that it is like it is to

2012. What like, I don't know, like Total Recall

or like Aliens or like one of those movies or

franchises was to, you know, the 80s, early 90s

type thing. It just has that cool like cult.

I think there's gonna be cult following for either

this or a movie that I'll bring up later. So

I'm definitely intrigued about the idea of a

lockout. The other one I wanted to bring up is,

well, two of them, on April 27th. The Five Year

Engagement, I only bring it up because it's one

of two romantic comedies that I'm interested

in for what we're talking about today. You know,

as far as the first half of 2012, I think it's

one of the two best romantic comedy ideas. And,

you know, obviously the idea is that they get

engaged and it keeps dragging and dragging and

dragging five years or whatever. So, you know,

if I have a girl to go see it with, I'll do that.

And the other one for April coming out the same

day as a five -year engagement is The Raven.

I'm a huge Cusack fan. And this just has epically

awesome... Written all over it. It's got like

a little Sherlock Holmes vibe With all kinds

of other things mixed in and I'm definitely interested

in the Raven So those are the main ones for me

Dan Okay, I'm the one of them really looking

forward to is the cabin in the woods, which is

actually kind of Almost like a Avengers preview

in a way because it's written by Josh Whedon

who is gonna be directing the Avengers and stars

Prince Hensworth Who will be playing Thor? So

it's kind of interesting it like it seems like

kind of a generic title the cabin in the woods

But I think that's definitely on purpose because

if you watch the trailer you can definitely tell

there's Like a sci -fi element into it and knowing

Josh Whedon nothing's ever what it seems. So

I'm kind of I think it definitely has potential

I don't know if it'll be great, but it's worth

a watch. I believe the sci -fi edge intrigues

me and I I would almost see it for that reason,

but I mean I absolutely hate horror films and

I don't see any of them, but that almost would

persuade me to watch that one. Yeah, I'm not

a big fan of horror either, and it's just not

my type of film, but just looking at the cast

who's involved kind of... Seems interesting like

you mentioned before Kevin block out. I'm definitely

interested in it to me It's like escape from

New York in space, which is a good thing I'm

a huge fan of Guy Pierce. I think he's a great

actor It's kind of the first time he's actually

done like an action type role that I can remember

So and I think he does fit that kind of snake

plissken type of you know rebel without a cause

type of character So I think that's gonna be

a great movie. At least I'm hoping and I live

in Baltimore. So I feel like I have to see the

Raven Or I'll be author -sized from you know,

so I'll probably see that and then also the Pirates

which looks Coming out equal to 27th as well.

I enjoy the walls and got walls and garment grommet

movies and also chicken run Which I think is

really an underrated movie that came out, you

know early in 2000 I believe so that definitely

still had a brain Yes, yes before he was psycho

so That's pretty much it. I mean like we mentioned

safe. It looks like another Jason Seatham movie

It's maybe worth a rental if you just want something

to turn your brain off and the fight and the

five -year engagement Which looks like it could

be a good romantic comedy, which our diamond

doesn't nowadays so It was definitely better

month in February, but so a lot of potential

I think yes It says it sounds I'm Kind of looking

forward to the American reunion reunion just

to see what they do with it and It's supposed

to be you know, of course Michigan. So it's it's

not that far -fetched of how they actually act

So Good Michigan reunion movie go watch girls

point -blank. I haven't gotten to that yet, but

I do have it So I'll at least be able to actually

watch it unlike I'm wire before but um But anyways,

yeah that that looks like it could I mean I know

it's gonna fail but It's just the fact of just

seeing it because I've never watched any of them

past The the wedding one so I just don't care

about the rest of them because they're cannon

fodder The three stooges of course, my wife is

like no that looks bad shit retarded So I have

a feeling I'm going with my father -in -law and

my dad so to see this Because they like three

stooges and granted it's not the same as the

classic three stooges But it's as close as we're

ever gonna get so I will take what I can get

and go see it I would rather see them do it With

this then try and get people that look nothing

like them or nothing similar to them. I should

say The other film that I'm looking forward to

is As weird as it sounds the the lucky one Because

you have a Marine that returns from Iraq And

the other thing that's keeping him alive is like

a photograph of some woman and he ends up working

at that farm So it looks like that could be pretty

good. I go both ways with that one First of all,

I hear the name Nicholas Sparks and to me. I

already know how the movie's gonna go I mean,

I think he does great for what he does and the

women love him and and it's a good thing to take

a girl to it But like I seriously think all his

books like are the exact same But I will say

that I think it's gonna cement Zac Efron as a

legitimate actor If he's not already, I mean,

I think a lot of people just view him as the

teenager or the tween You know that type of person

and he looks like he's actually gonna pull off

the role here pretty well So I think that's good

Like I said if a girl wants to go see it. I'll

go see it with her, but I already know everything

that's gonna happen in the movie The preview

for it and I read the description It was like

really they're trying to make Zach Efron a more

adult actor in in to be honest He has been over

the last few films that he's done so I mean it's

it's just further cementing him in his place

of actually a Serious actor. Yes. Yeah instead

of half the other ones that are Falling off the

face of the planet It has been done before I

mean like Johnny Depp was like basically Zac

Efron of the 80s in a way. Oh, yeah He kind of

beat and then well now he's kind of crazy, but

for a while there He was a serious actor before

Tim Burton changed them That's exactly the thing

though. It's like as soon as Tim Burton got his

hands on Johnny Depp He does the same damn role

every single movie that he and Tim Burton are

involved in I swear Johnny Depp is gonna go down

as or it could be kind of go down as one of the

most epically Incredible actors of all time that

has a movie list that is like what? It's like

he's like literally one of the best actors of

our generation that has done not very many good

movies Yeah, yeah Tim Burton basically helped

create and destroy his career at the same time.

It's kind of crazy, but I think that gets so

much of his So much of his acclaim because of

the variety and different styles of characters

He's played which are all completely polar opposites

of each other Another film that I'm looking forward

to kind of I'm not quite sure how this is gonna

turn out is the five -year engagement Which is

the one that you mentioned had that Nicholas

Stoller guy But I could go either way on this

film It just I mean I like Jason Siegel, but

I don't know how this film is gonna turn out

so it's kind of one of those meh And my final

movie is of course the Raven because like Kevin

said I'm a huge John Cusack film buff so I like

damn near everything he's been in so I am kind

of geeked to see that too. I agree. Yes. So with

that we'll be back with May. Who are we? We are

no one. Our mission is to monitor extraterrestrial

activity on Earth. Flacco, you know you're not

supposed to be north of Canal Street. Who is

Flacco? Just relax, punk. You're looking for

me, not you. Crazy, right? Two grown men talking

to the wall, wall talking back. It's a mess.

But hey, don't even worry about it. Incident

report. Access denied. There are things out there

you don't need to know. That's not the lie you

told me when you recruited me. I promise you

the secrets of the universe. Nothing more. Well,

what other secrets are there? Kay! Kay! I'm looking

for Kay. Have you seen him? Sort of a surly older

gentleman. He smiles like this. Kay has been

dead for over 40 years. Here, take this. All

you have to do is jump. You want me to jump?

Time jump. How do you know my name? We're back

with these selections of May starting out with

I guess I'll jump into mine first The first one

that I have to say is probably going to kick

the most ass this month and that is not an understatement

Based on the selection of films that are coming

out in May are the Avengers Every other movie

was afraid to come out in May exactly because

of the Avengers you have the kick -assness of

Iron Man the Incredible Hulk Thor Captain America

you have Nick Fury you have Hawkeye yeah Hawkeye

and What's that one Scarlett Johansson plays?

I can't remember the name black widow black widow.

Yeah. Yeah, but I mean you've you've got this

badass cast of Superheroes, I mean, it's just

and I think they've actually casted the Hulk

a little bit more correctly in this film over

the past But I'm definitely glad to see that

they kept the writing styles and the charms of

the particular characters, most notably Tony

Stark. That to me is what's going to make the

movie, just because I'm a fan of Downey Jr. and

then I'm also a fan of the Iron Man films. Will

be the as far as the first half 2012 by far.

It'll make more money than any other film Until

we hit July and dark I said out of the first

six We're not talking about July so But yeah

this this movie I'm definitely definitely geeked

for I I've watched all the trailers on it I mean,

I like the smartass comments that are in there.

I like there's There's no way that they could

go wrong with this film. I mean there there are

ways, but I seriously doubt they'll ever Screw

up this particular film not to say it can't happen

in the future one especially when you look at

it I mean and I've been in some very huge and

heated debates about this recently But if you

look at the component films so far, I mean Most

people regard Iron Man and Iron Man 2 as pretty

solid films. Most people liked and enjoyed those

films. I freaking loved Captain America. Yeah,

Captain America was awesome. So did I. I've never

seen the other two Hulks because the Hulk as

a character has just never been something I've

been interested in. Just with Captain America

and the Iron Man guy, not to mention Thor and

all these other side characters, I don't see

how... They did well with all those other movies,

so I can't see them failing at the what was the

big thing to begin with. I mean, this is why

they came out with all those other movies. This

is the end all be all of what they've been doing

for years. Yeah. Yeah, so, I mean, I'm ultimately

geeked for this film. This this is going to be

one of my top five, probably for the year of

favorites. Even without having seen very much

besides the trailer. The next film that that

I've got could either I mean they can go either

way and it's only because of one specific person

in it Liam Neeson and that's with Battleship

Transformers 3 .5. It almost looked that way

to me when I was watching that first trailer.

It's like Hey, this is this another is this Michael

Bay? What the hell is he doing? It may be the

most confusing trailer I've ever seen Yeah, I

have to agree and then you see this this giant

thing drop in there and it's like battleship

I'm like really well you see the battleship thing

drop and then you're like What the hell did that

have to do with battleship? Yeah, I'm thinking

and then I'm like, oh, it's the invisible grid

But like nothing really like alludes to that

hardly even it's just like Don't know I think

it would've been cool to do like a you know how

they did like back in the day like they did like

What was it war games or something like that?

That might be the wrong one I'm thinking about

but I think it would actually have been cool

if there was People not necessarily playing the

game of battleship, but somehow like a real -life

Battle that was more similar to battleship, but

when the sci -fi stuff started happening and

like these alien things I was so confused I was

kind of confused as well. I I'm not quite sure

this is gonna be any good but I'll give it a

shot. The next film that I have for the month,

I'm actually kind of pumped for this one because

I liked the previous ones and I said, like, I

didn't love them because they weren't that great

to begin with. But this is Men in Black 3. They're

just fun movies. They're fun movies and that's

you know, they're fun comedic sci -fi action.

I mean it's You're watching it to have a good

time not to think about how retarded the concept

actually is but um Will Smith, I love Will Smith.

Oh, yeah, and It's nice to see him come back

to this kind of a role. I Think it was perfect

casting for the younger version of Tommy Lee.

Oh, yeah, that just looked awesome This seems

like it sums up for me is I will see this for

pure nostalgia and for pure fun I'm gonna go

in with absolutely no expectations and Usually

that's a good thing because usually I come out

happy then Men in black 3 agent Jane gold member.

I I love the trailer. I do want to see this.

I do agree with what Kevin said, but when I first

saw the trailer I'm thinking okay this is men

in black with austin powers three gold member

that's the first thing i thought because the

whole back in time thing your brain works so

funny yeah i agree i don't see how austin powers

relates to men in black but because if you want

to argue that there's plenty of other films that

have done the time travel thing like that's like

comparing that's like comparing austin powers

to star trek not 2009 They went back in time

in altered history What else do you have for

pick Steve's There's no comment there But I yeah,

like what Kevin said I'm geeked for that movie

the other movie that I'm kind of wondering about

is the Snow White and the Huntsman because oh

Shit, yeah Alright, that's all I got for this

month Next I agree with you Steve Avengers everything

you guys said about it, you know, there's not

much more I can say I will add that The Incredible

Hulk was ten times better than the 2003 Hulk

Simply for the fact that they actually got Lou

Ferrigno to be the face of the Hulk and be the

voice of the Hulk. I thought that was really

cool. But I mean the Hulk movies and Hulk in

general, there really is no character depth to

the Hulk. There's character depth to Bruce Banner.

But I mean the Hulk is just Hulk smash. I mean

you know that's pretty much all it is. But the

Avengers looks awesome. I can't wait to see that.

Battleship as I said before. It's like somebody

else directed Transformers 3 .5. I do not care

to see this at all. And Men in Black 3, I will

probably end up seeing this in theater, because

it does. I've enjoyed the franchise, and as Kevin

said, it's not a movie that you have to think

about. It's just a movie that you go to have

a good laugh. And those are my picks I can't

believe I'm saying this because I don't think

there's ever been a May that I've said this but

I literally I'm probably only gonna see two movies

in May Usually May is bigger I will see the Avengers

and I will see men in black 3 and I don't think

anything else even stands a chance for me to

go see No, I'm staying miles away from Tim Burton.

Yeah, and I'm staying miles away from Mr. Cohen

Yeah The rest is history damn Obviously the Avengers.

I mean, I think that's the movie since you know

Iron Man the end of Iron Man We've all been looking

forward to it's still like movie I've never thought

ever would be made like since we're kids You're

always thinking about who would play the Avengers

who you know who would fit the roles and now

it's actually happening Which is crazy. I just

hope it's you know, I'm pretty sure it's gonna

be successful Like, you know quality wise and

obviously at the box office. It's just it does

have a lot of pressure on it I mean if it doesn't

do well if like I think Regardless it'll set

a record for opening weekend. Yes, I think it'll

do Tremendous at the box office. I'm more thinking

like there's been movies like, you know X -Men

3 was huge It was the highest grossing X -Men

film, but the night negativity towards it killed

that franchise. So it's Don't think that'll happen.

You know, obviously that's just being pessimistic

and I think it's gonna be great But I mean it

does have a lot of pressure on it and it has

a lot of but I think it's gonna be successful

and Again men in back three men in black three,

like you guys mentioned Josh Brolin just has

the voice of Tommy Lee Jones, which just creepy

it's almost like he's like doing a ventriloquist

act or something. It's a little bit He really

has son Sir pump it up his ass Strings maybe

Jeff Dunham's there in the background. We just

don't Where's Walter? In battleship to me. It

looks like they made a movie. They didn't know

how to sell it So they just called it battleship

and they're like it doesn't feel like the game

I just I don't see the point and I know Liam

Neeson's in it But like if you watch the trailer,

it's pretty evident. He's not in it for that

long. It looks like he Don't I guess it's a spoiler

but it's in the trailer looks like he dies pretty

quickly because they talked about how the commander's

dead and the other guys Step up. So it's like

there's gonna be people that go to watch that

only for Liam Neeson He's gonna die in the first

five minutes and then they're gonna leave Yeah,

exactly. So, I mean, maybe it'll be good fun

I don't know but it just I think Michael Bay

looks at battleship and thinks there's a little

too much CGI there so taking one on the chin

it is being the like the token like sacrifice

for all movies to come out in May Yeah, and the

sad thing is it's starting a new trend because

now Candyland's gonna be made I can at least

see some of those other ones have potential like

Clue's been done well before I mean, I guess

Candyland to me does make more sense than Battleship

I mean, I guess it could be a good battleship

movie I guess the issue is we don't really use

battleships like we did in the game It seems

like making a movie love tic -tac -toe like there's

no people involved Exactly, um, but and uh, so

But there's not that much else. I mean, there's

a dictator. I'm not a big Sasha Baron Cohen fan

I know there's probably people out there that

yeah, it it's like it's impossible not to be

But uh, so yeah, it is crazy that may does not

have that much and like I mentioned earlier with

like John Carter in the Hunger Games like scaring

off studios I think that's what you have have

again It's just I think they're scared of the

Avengers and I just don't they think it's gonna

just rule the box off Which was probably well,

so they don't want to put anything out there.

So I mean because there's been so many other

movies that have made the critical mistake of

going against a big name and it just kills them

Yeah, like last year, like Runny the Pooh came

out the same week as Cars 2 or something like

that, right? Well, yeah. What was the, even like

back a few years when the first Transformers

came out, I think it, what was it, It and Die

Hard came out at the same time? Yeah. And The

Punisher was released the same weekend as Kill

Bill Volume 2 and that got buried. So I guess

people are just like, you know, they don't want

to release similar films, which makes sense.

But then it's like, it doesn't give you much

to watch, except you see the Avengers. It's like,

well, I got to wait till the end of the month

now before something else comes out. I think

the thing about it is though, take a look at

2011. Specifically for the comic book movies,

we had Captain America, we had X -Men First Class,

we had Thor, Green Lantern, Green Hornet. Thor,

Green Lantern, all that stuff. Between April

and July we had all of that stuff scattered through

those months. And this year it's like Here's

Avengers. It's gonna be fucking huge in July.

I know I know we're not talking about July in

this episode But you know, we have to bring it

up here in July. You've got amazing spider -man.

It's Probably gonna be pretty big and then you've

got the Dark Knight Rises Which is gonna be as

huge as Avengers if not bigger than Avengers

and it's like they're just giving us like 2010

really was the year for comic book movies and

now they're you know, they're just giving us

Hey, here's this huge thing. Here's this huge

thing. Here's this huge thing Well, I mean, you

say 2010 is the year for comic book movies. Or

2011, or whatever, but 2012 is going to be the

biggest comic book grossing movie year probably.

Right. Okay, well, let me rephrase. Christ, here

we fucking go. 2011, as far as releases, like...

They had them sporadically throughout the year

not really close to each other So they would

be at war with each other, but they had more

in 2011 than they are in 2012 And that's because

the Avengers in the Dark Knight Rises are gonna

do so well. Yeah Mean you can have the three

biggest comic book franchises coming out this

summer So I don't think there's really much to

complain about being a comic book fan Yeah, it

does feel like this summer is backloaded more

so than last summer which was front -loaded like

everything was in like April May and June Yeah,

which is what we're used to you know that's been

the case for years you know the the April especially

May and June have just been huge and It's kind

of seems like there's like a switch in the trend

here a little bit It doesn't surprise me about

Amazing Spider -Man that it's in July because

since the Spider -Man franchise has been making

films, it's either been May 3rd or July 3rd.

Or, you know, whatever that first Friday in those

two months are, it's always been those days as

far as that goes. So that doesn't surprise me

with Amazing Spider -Man. I'm just surprised

that they are putting it up against in the same

month as Dark Knight Rises. Well, it makes sense

as far as Marvel DC. Yeah, yeah, that's true.

So anyways, we'll move on to the final month

of our special here. Do you hear that? It's the

sound of battles fought and lives lost. Once

pained me to know that I am the cause of such

despair. But now, their cries give me strength.

Beauty is my power. Mirror, mirror on the wall.

Who is fairest of them all? You are the fairest,

but there is another destined to surpass you.

Consume her heart and you shall live forever.

Find me someone who doesn't fear the dark forest

to hunt her down. Why is she of such value? That

is none of your concern. And if I refuse? Hair

blockers night. Bring me your heart, my dear,

dear, Snow White. So what'd the IRS say? Three

years in prison. You haven't paid taxes since

94, Donnie. What are we talking about? 50, 60

bucks? 43 ,000. Fuck! No! You gotta come up with

a way to get this money. Holy cow, that's my

boy. He moved out when he turned 18. I haven't

seen him since. He is one of the youngest hedge

fund managers in the financial industry. Maybe

your son can help you. Todd, your old man is

here. What type of guy would miss his son's wedding?

You were basically the worst parent ever! I was

awesome! You know what I remember? Is me having

to drive you home from the beach that time because

you were too drunk! Somebody's ham and they have

another guy drive home! I was eight! You fucking

drove like a champ, too. Huh? Give me another

chance. Can't you know me a little bit? It's

water infused with cucumber, rose petal, and

harvest sandalwood. It tastes like fucking dick

infused with balls. We can't let tonight end

like this. I can stay out a little later. Don't

forget you're gonna go to prison on Tuesday.

You've got to get that money actually just trying

to be your dad right now Get the cake no walnuts

no fucking excuses Todd buddy. You gotta like

stick up yourself Ever since you showed up Todd's

been acting like a different person I promise

you I'll never forget you again. Give me a gift

An earring. But I don't have a pierced ear. Yeah.

Oh God! Am I bleeding? I don't think so. Security's

early. You with me? Today, the world's elite

fighting force betrayed our nation. with extreme

prejudice. They're all dead. We were set up right

from the start. We're all that's left. Let's

move. The world ain't saving itself. Last up

today is our selection for the June movies. Who

wants to go first? I'll go first. Too bad. You

always go first, Mike. Sorry. Well, I mean, whatever.

I don't care. No, go ahead. That's fine. You

fucker. I don't want you to be pissed off later.

June, for me, is pretty much two movies. I'm

extremely excited for Snow White and the Huntsman.

That's probably the one live action Snow White

movie that I've actually wanted to see. It looks

very, very interesting. And it puts that animated

movie to shame. I don't care anything about the

Madagascar films. The only good thing about those

films is the penguins. Abraham Lincoln, Vampire

Hunter. Hobo with a Shotgun 2. I mean, you know,

that's... That's the only trailer and we have

about 40 movies on our list to look at and to

watch trailers and this and that. It's the only

one I refuse to watch. Yeah. Now, I know Kevin's

going to disagree with this and people are going

to crucify me for this. As much as I love Pixar,

I'm sick of seeing stuff for Brave already. One

of the reasons is because when I saw the trailer

for Brave and when I saw the TV spots that Disney

Channel does for it, Brave is essentially a combination

of Braveheart, Quest for Camelot, and Mulan.

I'm not saying Brave is going to be bad. I'm

just saying it reminds me of Braveheart. Save

our land! We must fight for freedom! Quest for

Camelot is a woman who is trying to become something

she's not. Same thing with Mulan. It's someone

that she's trying to break out of what she's

supposed to be. I'm sure Brave is going to be

absolutely great, but it's just not something

I'm that interested to see. Just looking at animated

films in 2012, I mean, to me, I know there's

some big ones coming out in the first half with

Lorax and the Pirates one and Brave, but I am

much more looking forward to the second half

of the year for animated movies. It might be

good, but it just doesn't do a lot for me. I

will probably like and see Lorax. Brave I'm just,

I can't get excited about. I know it's going

to have a ton of hype. It's probably going to

be the one that does the best, et cetera, et

cetera. But the, the main girl that reminds me

too much of the, of the chick from Shrek. I don't

know why. Yeah. Yeah. Um, and of course anything

is belly. Okay. I've gone back. Watch yourself.

No, hold on. Hold on. I've gone back and I've

rewatched Rise of Cobra and rewatching Rise of

Cobra, I've rewatched it twice. I'm sorry. It's

tolerable. I like certain parts of it, but that

movie overall fucking sucks for what they did

with those characters. Retaliation is going to

be so much fucking better. I agree. I'm the only

person on the planet. Back in what year was that?

2009 2009 I'm the only one that even in 2009

liked the first GI Joe better Slightly edge a

hair better than the first Transformers. I Don't

know why I had liked rise of Cobra better than

I liked the first Transformers and I've stuck

with that since well What I agree with you this

is gonna be way better what ruined the first

film for me cover commander hands down. Yeah

And it just didn't bother me as much for some

reason. He's got a faceplate in this movie. There's

been some real good casting this year. We talked

about Men in Black. And there's been a couple

other movies that have had some real excellent

casting. I can't think of better casting than

The Rock as Roadblock slash Heavy Duty slash

whatever you want to call that character. And

Bruce Willis. And I assume he's... Is he playing

the character of Hawker Falcon or somebody he's

playing the original GI Joe Colton? He's supposed

to be the guy the first GI Joe And those two

are excellent casting like I and just let him

play John McClane. That's fine You know, he can

be that character in the GI Joe movie. It's okay.

Yeah. Yeah I'm absolutely looking forward to

retaliation rise a Cobra. I know that's not really

pertaining to June films but rise of Cobra on

subsequent viewings. I can watch it, but it's

not something I will actively seek out I think

another thing about retaliation There's gonna

be a couple things that stick with me already

the scene with the white or the the White House

and the flags coming down Yeah, that's just like

a that's like a scene like like seeing you know

the things destroyed in Independence Day That's

just a scene that sticks with you like holy crap.

Oh, and I think the fighting on the cliffs It's

gonna be some of the most epic fighting scenes

we've seen in a while. Thank God they got rid

of that Sigma -6 jumpsuit bullshit. Well, in

all credit, or in all defense, I guess, of...

I think what their mistake was is they looked

back at the original G .I. Joe series. And something

that was very common in a mainstay of all the

GI Joe cartoons was Cobra and and the idea of

these crazy technological advanced type of things

that they were always coming up with like the

gate, you know and it's typical for a lot of

cartoons of the 80s or around there, you know

coming up with the gadget of the week or this

New type of technology and I think they saw that

and thought we had to do that in the live -action

movie and I just think they they'd missed a little

bit with that but I'll give them a little bit

of a pass for at least trying to be true to what

was a staple of the cartoon. Coming up with crazy

gadgets and gizmos. So what are your choices

for June, Kevin? Snow White and the Huntsman

I think by far will be the better of the two

Snow White films this year. I'm not saying Mirror

Mirror will be bad and I'm not saying anything

wrong against the cast in Mirror Mirror because

I think it's a fantastic cast. But everything

about this one looks better. I agree. Is this

the year of Mr. Hemsworth? It is. Apparently

so. Him and Tom Hardy are pretty much in everything

this year. Yeah, and you know, I don't mind this

trend of mature fairy tale films, live action

style. I think this looks very cool. I think

there's some cool effects. I think there's gonna

be some cool fight scenes, and I think it's gonna

do justice to the... Fairytale you don't need

to do justice to the Disney movie but justice

to the fairy tale of Snow White and I'm very

much looking forward to that and I'm looking

forward to future Fairytale matured themed type

films as well as long as they do them, right?

Madagascar is one of the in my opinion is one

of the worst franchises We've had animated wise

in the last ten years, so I have no interest

in that Prometheus Ridley Scott, I don't think

I should have to say anymore that makes me excited.

And to me, this and Lockout are two interesting

sci -fi movies for this year. The Prometheus

trailer doesn't give you a lot. You know, you

can't base a lot off of it. You don't really

know exactly what's going to be happening, but

I am a huge sci -fi buff, so it's going to be

down between, you know, Lockout and Prometheus

as to which one I like better, but I'm excited

for both of them. That's my boy. Adam Sandler

and Andy Samberg. I think that is a genius pairing.

I think that is a generation gapping, you know,

this should be a fantastic combination in the

comedy world. And I think this could be one of

Sandler's best comedies since way back when.

I have to agree with you on that because Sandberg

is basically like the modern day Adam Sandler.

He does the music, he does the goofy characters,

he does, you know, some of the serious. I mean,

he can play pretty much the Adam Sandler type

roles. So it's very fitting. And I'm not going

to be one of those people that bashes everything

Adam Sandler has done since the beginning, because

I think he has had some good movies along the

way. But it's so hard when you start out with

Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison as two of your

bigger ones early on. But honestly, this. I'm

as excited about this one as I've ever been any

Sandler movie since then. I think this is going

to be good. And hopefully doesn't disappoint

me. Like I said, anybody who sees Abraham Lincoln

Vampire Hunter is dead to me. I agree. I'm interested.

I'm interested in seeking a friend for the end

of the world. And Mike's going to hate this,

but I don't I don't care what people say for

two years straight. Steve Carell has delivered

a gem of a film each year Date Night was excellent

in 2010 and I'm gonna forget the name of the

one in 2011 now What was the one with him and

Just look it up. No, what's the movie with him

and he's learning from What you call it like

how to be a player again or whatever how to crazy

stupid love. Yeah crazy. Yeah, that was good

news Date Night in 2010 and Crazy Stupid Love

in 2011 were excellent. They both made my top

10 for the years and I think he's going to do

it again with Seeking a Friend for the End of

the World. I think the trailer looked fantastic.

I think it's a ridiculously bizarre yet incredible

idea for a movie as far as a kind of like a romantic

comedy and I'm expecting a third year in a row

where he delivers a good movie. And then like

we said GI Joe retaliation. I am a GI Joe buff

So I think it'll be fine and fantastic and I'm

looking forward to To me June is the best month

in the first half of the year Outside of Avengers

I would agree with you. Well, I mean obviously

you're gonna have a huge movie I can't compare

May to June based on one movie With June, it

seems like each week, there's at least something

decent coming out. I mean, obviously, May is

going to have one of the biggest movies of the

year. July is going to have one or two of the

biggest movies of the year. But I'm just talking

out of these first six months from top to bottom,

June is the most solid one where I will probably

see the most movies. Yeah. Yeah. Dan? All right.

Steve? No, Dan can go first. It's fine. OK. The

one I think I'm looking forward to the most is

Prometheus. I'm a big fan of the Alien films,

Alien and Aliens. It kind of goes downhill after

that a little bit. It's kind of... Curious because

it's like it's not technically an alien film

But it's taking place in that same universe and

there's actually this big viral campaign going

on right now about like how they're supposed

to be connected I haven't watched them because

I kind of don't I want to know the least amount

as possible while watching it So I'm really looking

forward to it. Plus it has Michael Fassbender

who I absolutely love as an actor So it's a lot

of good things going forward and it's probably

one of the films I'm most looking forward to

besides the Avengers also Seeking a friend at

the end of the world a huge Steve Carell fan.

I've been a Steve Carell fan since his days on

the Daily Show I love the office. I also really

enjoyed a crazy stupid love. So it seems like

a kind of a Right up his alley the type of humor

should fit him perfectly And snow in the Huntsman

again, that looks it looks like it could be a

lot better than mirror mirror mirror It has like

I have no interest in it whatsoever. But it looks

like that could be a almost like um has almost

like a Lord of the Rings vibe in a way, just

looking at the special effects and how it's all

laid out. Brave, I think it's like Pixar's attempt

to redeem themselves from last year with Cars

2. Well, it's like when I look at that animation

style It reminds me a lot of the how to train

your dragon Maybe just since it's taking place

around the same time period not that it's the

same film But it does look like the character

design reminds me a lot of that movie and I loved

how to train your dragon This is obviously is

completely different, but hoping it'll be great.

Like you guys mentioned I'm not really looking

forward to Abraham Lincoln vampire hunter I did

see the trailer and it just seems to be taking

itself way too seriously Plus when you see Tim

Burton's name in front of it and then vampire

hunter coming out It's just like that movie's

just gonna be bad and I'm just really since since

Tim Burton already has a vampire movie coming

out in dark shadows in May Yeah, and what's weird

is like in the trailer Abraham Lincoln doesn't

seem to have a beard and like how do you have

a Lincoln movie and not have a beard? I mean

like it does make sense. How do you have a Lincoln

movie and have vampires in it? It's that's true.

It's just asinine I mean, it's based off that

whole book series because there's Abraham Lincoln

vampire hunter pride prejudice and zombies There's

a few of them. I don't know. I just personally

don't have any interest I think it was more campy

and more fun. It might be more enjoyable, but

it just seems to be like taking itself way too

seriously I think only people in high school

are gonna go see that More than likely emo kids.

The other one I'm curious about I don't know

if I'll probably want to see in theater is this

Rock of Ages which is Tom Cruise's breakout Musical

role. I'm a Tom Cruise fan, but I don't know.

I don't see him as a rock star Maybe he'll surprise

me. But that was he was a rapper in Tropic Thunder

True true. He can dance. We know he can dance

I don't know if he can rock but he can dance

that one to me if any of them screams like red

box material to me Yeah, I I think it might be

a bomb just looking at the trailer. Just I don't

know it looks like it looks like I don't know

just reminds me of like studio 54 in a way. This

looks it's really generic. But uh, who knows

maybe it'll be good But I definitely want to

see that in a trailer theater, but maybe I'll

rent it or whatnot but uh for the most part june

does look like to be pretty solid and um, so

hopefully And like I didn't mention gi joe really

looking forward to that. I personally did not

like the first one. The only reason I saw it

actually is because I was in a drive -in and

it was playing before Inglourious Basterds, which

is kind of the most random companionship ever.

You know, G .I. Joe and Inglourious Basterds

are very different movies. It just didn't work

for me. I was big fan of the cartoons as a kid

It was my favorite toy growing up. So I was and

this seems to really grab that The mood and the

tone of a GI Joe movie. It seems to be more fitted

towards retaliation maybe it's because they're

just because of the rock and Bruce Willis like

we mentioned they just fit those characters better

and So looking forward to it. Hopefully and I

think it's a good sign that's being released

in June Usually if they're gonna put a movie

out there that's action -oriented any putting

it And they must have more faith in it and they

would have they just dumped it at the end of

August or something So and hopefully it can make

as much money as possible in that first week

or two Because after that the gates are gonna

be closed. Yeah, I mean that's that's I think

that's the case for a lot of them I mean after

the Snow White I think if that doesn't it has

a few weeks until Prometheus and then a few more

weeks till Brave I think each movie has like

I don't think you're gonna see a movie be top

of the box office for more more than one or two

weekends it's gonna maybe the Avengers since

there's not much out in May but after that in

June it's gonna be it's gonna be a bloodbath

because there's a lot of stuff coming up my films

I'd have to say I'm like Kevin said I'm more

excited for the Snow White and the Huntsman over

the Mirror Mirror it just looks better Madagascar

while I like the first film Just let it die already.

I mean it's getting as bad as ice age at this

point So I have no I have no enthusiasm for that

whatsoever the that's my boy with Adam Sandler

That's definitely I I flock to any Adam Sandler

film as does my wife and the rest of her family

so This can do no wrong And you've got a kick

-ass cast as well, right? and tons of comedians.

I mean, you've got Will Forte, you've got Calvin

Quinn, and then unfortunately you have Vanilla

Ice. So yeah, I'm kind of excited for that movie.

Brave looks like it could be good. I'm not quite

sure what to think of it yet. But again, it's

a Pixar movie, so it can't be all that bad. Have

to agree also agree with Kevin on the the seeking

a friend for the end of the world that you know

Correll does happen to have at least one good

movie a year and this probably will be it Get

smart notwithstanding That was get dumb Gi Joe

retaliation that one has me way more pumped than

the first film The first film while I did like

aspects of it Disliked and I know it's very biased

but Cobra commander is what makes GI Joe for

me If you screw up Cobra commander, I just I

don't care. That makes sense. So I like the fact

that they have snake eyes in it. I like the fact

that they have You know Bruce Willis in it playing

Joe Colton They have one Roman in it If you get

that reference the actress that played Wonder

Woman and the the non -existent pilot is Lady

J Nice So, yeah, I'm kind of pumped to see that

just for shits and giggles I'm hoping that they

do good on that film basically rebooting it and

I'm hoping that a Cobra commander I have seen

a faceplate so that does have me geeked Which

as sad as that is Hmm sure At least it means

they're trying so that's a good good sign Yes,

and I'm I'm thinking that's pretty much it for

me for for the first six months. I mean there's

really I'm thinking that you know GI Joe and

and The Avengers are pretty much going to be

the main two action movies for the first six

months of the year So, we will be right back

after this commercial break with our final thoughts.

not like Kevin where I go to the movies all the

time because it's either take a two hour bus

ride to go see an hour and a half two hour movie,

no thanks. A lot of these I'm just going to wait

until they get to DVD, but I will be seeing Avengers

in theaters. I will be seeing Snow White and

the Huntsman in theaters. Those are pretty much

it. This time I will be seeing G .I. Joe in the

theaters unlike last time. Really those are my

top three. What about you, Kev? It's so hard

to get down to a top five. Real quickly, these

don't count because they're just guilty pleasures,

but I'm very excited to see G .I. Joe in Men

in Black. They're not going to be great movies,

but I'm excited to see them. Comedies, I think

that's my boy in 21 Jump Street, have the most

potential. As far as romantic comedies, I think

Seeking a Friend at the End of the World and

Five Year Engagement look promising. And then,

of course, my sci -fi person likes Lockout and

Prometheus. But as far as my five most anticipated

films in order, number five would be Hunger Games

coming out in March. I'm interested to see how

that franchise starts off. Four would be Chimpanzee.

Like I said, something about that movie I don't

know. It's just... I'm going to be very stoked

to see that. Number three would probably be Raven.

Again, has that Sherlock Holmes feel and I love

those movies. Number two would be Snow White

and the Huntsman. Something about the look at

that. I think it's cool. I think it's great if

that starts a trend of some really good. I mean,

I know they've done a few other, you know, mature

fairy tale type films before, but this seems

like the one that could really start. the trend

and number one obviously is Avengers. Without

a doubt. Dan? Okay, some of my honorable mentions

are similar. Curious about 21 Jump Street. Curious

about, you know, looks like it might be a good

movie. It could be horrible, but it has potential.

Probably my top five. Number five would be The

Hunger Games. Haven't read the books, but I think

it could be... You know a good film number four

seeking a friend at the end of the world again.

It's my big fandom for Steve Carell Number three

it be cabin in the woods. I just think it's gonna

be a great concept I have a lot of trust in Josh

Whedon. I think it could be a really big surprise

it that month number two Prometheus Again a huge

fan of the alien franchise. I think it's gonna

be one of the bigger movies of the summer I think

it might surprise some people kind of hoping

what it it can do What like rise of the planet

of the apes did before its franchise and like

breathe new life into her series we all thought

was long dead and Number one surprisingly the

Avengers movie. I mean I've been waiting for

since you know 2008 movie never thought would

ever happen just just the amount of work that

has to go into making it a film so it's Hopefully

won't be let down. I don't think I will but I'm

really looking forward to it. Oh Just other honorable

mentions the raid which is a limited release

which I probably won't be able to see till later

in the year, but that's Really really thinking

that's gonna be one of my top films of the year

That's it for me already I'd have to say that

my Top five would have to include in no particular

order, because I know sometimes some people like

to say, oh, but you have to choose a number.

Shut up. Dot, dot, dot. You inserted it before

I could even say your name, so thank you. First

of all, G .I. Joe Retaliation, Snow White and

the Huntsman, Men in Black 3, The Avengers, and

I'd have to say The Hunger Games. Those would

pretty much be, and those would be my top five

of what I think are gonna be good movies. And

then of course, I'm looking forward to like The

Three Stooges and a couple other random movies

in there. But yeah, that would pretty much be

my selection there. Excellent. Seems like we

have a lot of the same movies going in there.

Oh, yes. And before we cut it off at the end

of the episode, I believe Kevin had some stuff

he wanted to bring up. Just thought it'd be cool

if we do these every six months or so as we preview

the movies that are coming out. So I thought

it would also be cool to share some breaking

news and whatnot. It might be something that

we can do, that we'll do. Every time from here

on out and that way other people will be talking

besides just me But some of the movie breaking

news that I wanted to share for for this one

that's come out here in the last week Ghostbusters

3 news as far as Dana Aykroyd confirming that

Bill Murray won't do Ghostbusters 3 And there's

gosh, this has been like Years and years that

this has been going around and around as far

as if there would be a Ghostbusters 3 if there

wouldn't be a Ghostbusters 3 You know everybody

seems to be on board except for Murray and I

can totally understand why he's not But yeah,

Dan Eckerd confirmed that he will not do Ghostbusters

that Bill Murray will not do Ghostbusters 3 I'm

speaking of the fairy tale live -action ones

if you wanted to know What's next in the trend

after Snow White? It's gonna be Cinderella There

is a it was announced back in 2010 and they have

kind of switched around a little bit They finally

seems like they've settled on a writer Mark Roman

at code did the Golden Compass about a boy and

I hate to say this but new moon We'll see if

the head looks as good as Snow White and the

Huntsman So that was some breaking news Mike

Tyson confirmed his return for the hangover part

three Which is 2013 release So Like you didn't

know that was gonna be a trilogy. Yeah some other

news Joel Kinnaman who Most people probably don't

know who he is But he has been offered the lead

in the reboot of RoboCop So if you're interested

to see who is going to be playing the lead in

the new RoboCop movie look up Joel Kinnaman,

K -I -N -N -A -M -A -N Dwayne Johnson, also known

as The Rock, is in talks for the main role in

MGM's Hercules movie. That doesn't surprise me.

Not surprising. Like, that's not an obvious choice.

So we'll see what happens with Hercules and possibly

The Rock. Let's see. The Lone Ranger. Did anyone

know that there was a new Lone Ranger movie going

to be coming out? No. That that's been I mean

they started actually production of that movie

and then they killed it because it was gonna

cost too much and now they're starting production

again I believe it's and and some of the people

that are like Rumored to be in that you have

Helena Bonham Carter Barry Pepper Tom Wilkinson

and now William Fitchner So that could be interesting

Peter Craig has been tapped to write Mike a Top

Gun sequel If it happens, it happens. So that

could be interesting. And then my best breaking

news for this six months of movies here that

we've gotten in the last couple of weeks is that

most people will be pleased to hear this, that

a sequel to last year's Muppet film is on the

way. Again, no surprise. Well, it's good that

after so many years without one, that it wasn't

just going to be a one and done, that they will

continue to make them. Unfortunately, Jason Siegel

might not have anything to do with it because

of other commitments, which is too bad. But I'm

glad that they're going to be doing another one.

So those were my breaking movie news for you

for this first half of 2012. Want to see them

the Muppets the one that came out last year that

yeah, yeah last year My only problem is now they're

showing that Muppet man music video everywhere.

I think it's making me absolutely fucking hate

Jason Siegel. Why? He's the one he his love for

the Muppets and his childhood, you know Adoration

for them is pretty much the reason why we got

a Muppet movie And I understand that. I'm just

saying, in the context of that video, it's just

making me absolutely hate that character. There's

Sheldon in it. And it won the best Oscar for

best song. It deserved it. It was good. Had a

lot of competition. I was mad that they didn't

let him perform it, damn it. Yeah, they did let

it present, but I was a little disappointed.

so Anything else guys? I think that's it. All

right. I think that about wraps up our six month

preview of 2012 and of course as always we will

be back in June or towards the end of June with

the final six months of 2012 rounding out the

rest of the year and of course starting out with

the blockbuster month of July so Before we go

is there anything that anybody wants to pimp

out before we drop our Twitter names I don't

necessarily want to pimp it out But I well I

guess I'm pimping out this episode because I'd

like you know anybody that's listening to please

forward to for the first half of 2012 Yes, yes

definitely do that anybody else Well, like we

mentioned like some of the months aren't the

greatest so there might not be a lot in theater

So if you want something to watch I did a post

a while back like hidden gems of 2011 a lot of

those films are on DVD So there's nothing in

a theater and you want to go see I try to put

a big variety of films on that post So it might

be a good good resource to go check out. I did

it a few weeks ago I think but a lot of movies

that didn't really weren't really big at the

box office, didn't win any awards, but overall

I think they're pretty quality films. Check it

out. Yes. And Mike, anything? That's it, really.
