About this Episode

This episode covers the 1998 made-for-TV movie featuring David Hasselhoff as Nick Fury. The discussion explores the film's adaptation of the Marvel Comics character, the casting of Gary Chalk as Dum-Dum Dugan, and the film's status as a hidden gem for fans. The hosts share their thoughts on Hasselhoff's performance and the overall production quality of this specific Marvel adaptation.

Welcome to S .H .I .E .L .D., the Supreme Headquarters

International Espionage Law Enforcement Division.

Hello and welcome to the 18th episode of the

M -Wire. Today we're going to be discussing Nick

Fury, agent of S .H .I .E .L .D. in the final

installment of our Marvel Spotlight. I am TFG1Mike

and I am actually joined by... Yes, exactly.

This is your first MWire episode. It's been a

while since we've actually recorded with you,

seeing as how after Scoop... Seeing as how...

Oh, what was that reference I was going to bring

up? Oh, yeah. The skater dude scared you away

in a pup named Scooby -Doo, because after episode

6... After episode 6, you left ToonCast, you

bastard! So what's been going on with you, man?

Oh, not much, just the flu's been going around,

and it's flu season is craptacular. Yes, exactly.

Or it's cough -tacular. Yeah. NyQuil time! Yes,

exactly. Yeah, this is our final episode for

the Marvel Spotlight, and really, there are more

Marvel films out there, like Blade and stuff

like that, but I was trying to hit on the main...

Blade 2 and... Yeah. Well, I was... When I started

the Marvel Spotlight for the show, I was... It's

basically episodes 10 through 18, all Marvel

movies, and I was aiming at the superhero movies

like X -Men, Spider -Man, Daredevil, stuff like

that. And I figured, well, hell, why not throw

Nick Fury in there, seeing as how it wasn't made

for TV movie back in 1998. So we are going to

get into Nick Fury. We'll be right back. From

the pages of entertainment history, from a brand

renowned for non -stop action adventure, from

a name that stirs the imagination, from a universe

where good is heroic and evil sets the screen

ablaze, comes a man who will always remain a

hero. I'll get that vampire's blood if I have

to suck it from her neck. Yesterday, Hydra stormed

Trinity Base, and they killed Clay in the process.

Welcome to S .H .I .E .L .D., the Supreme Headquarters

International Espionage Law Enforcement Division.

Nick, take care of her. Isn't that sweet? His

last words, Nick. I assume he meant his boyhood

chum, Nick Fury. Well, here's the short. Your

friend's death is only the beginning. Fury! Managed

to screw things up again? Listen carefully. I'm

addressing S .H .I .E .L .D. Director Cech Pintzer.

That head virus has been said to explode somewhere

in Manhattan. You have until 6 p .m. Greenwich

Mean Time tomorrow to assemble 1 billion U .S.

dollars. Any attempt to vacate Manhattan? will

result in the immediate release of the virus.

Against Hydra, there is no shield. What's the

coordinates, Tim? We have two service lawyer

missiles being launched. All right, let's move.

We're going to have two heat seekers on our exhaust.

Hang on, people! Fill out! Grab your gear! Have

you located the suspect's vehicle yet? Sir, I

have the site now. Thirty minutes to the deadline.

Going shielding the way of a Yorker. Nick, thank

God. I thought you were dead. I was, but now

I'm better. You must get us the abort code. Okay,

so as I said before the break there, Nick Fury,

Agent of S .H .I .E .L .D. is a made -for -TV

movie starring David Hasselhoff. It is based

on the comic book adventures of the Marvel Comics

character Nick Fury, director of S .H .I .E .L

.D. Now, I think for the description on this

episode that goes into iTunes and the feed burner,

I'm actually going to write out... Long after...

Long after... Kit disappeared out of his life,

and after the babes from Baywatch pretty much

drizzled away, we have hardened David Hasselhoff

as Nick Fury in 1998. Because honestly, I, actually

when I was just, when I was trying to think of,

about that, I was thinking, wait a minute. I

know obviously Knight Rider came first. I was

trying to think. Whether he had already finished

doing Baywatch or was still doing Baywatch, I

couldn't remember because I thought this had

come before Baywatch. The way I was going to

word it was, after Kit is long gone and before

the Baywatch babes came along, you had Nick Fury,

Agent of S .H .I .E .L .D. Well, Baywatch got

done in, I think, about 1994. Yeah. Well, it

went into syndication. 93, 94, after the first

season, the networks weren't going to be picking

it up. I mean, it's beside the point of what

we're actually talking about, but it did go into

syndication on, like, the USA Network and stuff

like that, and it did have multiple seasons.

Right, right, right. But, yeah, when I first

saw this, this was because I, like, after Knight

Rider, I was so scarred for life that it was

gone. I know. And I didn't really, like... I

didn't really remember the 2000 movie, the 1990

Knight Rider 2000 that well, and I'm like, when

I first saw this on TV, I'm like, oh shit, it's

Michael Knight, he's in a movie, hell yeah! And

I'm like, wait, wait, wait, what is Nick Fury?

Who the fuck is Nick Fury? I didn't know who

the hell Nick Fury was. I mean, I knew who he

was from the Spider -Man cartoon, but other than

that, I'm like, what? Wow. He must really be

hard up for work. Honestly, I didn't pay that

much attention to Baywatch. I know a lot of people

that may or may not listen to this show may say

that's sacrilege, but I don't know. I will always

see Hasselhoff as Michael Knight. I don't see

him as Mitch Buchanan. Even though I did watch

Baywatch, I did watch that, yes. But I see him

as Michael Knight. I don't see him as anybody

else. Exactly. And that's, you know, that's just

the way that it is. But overall, in this, I think

he did an excellent job. So here is the very,

very, you know, and on MWire, I don't know if

you've been listening or not, we, almost every

time that I get wiki information, the plot synopsis

are just horrible. Sometimes. Especially with

some of the Marvel films that we've covered.

So basically, here's what it says. Nick Fury

retired. is approached to return to duty to take

down agents of the terrorist organization Hydra,

led by the children of Baron Wolfgang von Strucker,

an old enemy of his. Hydra has reconstituted

a pathogen known as the Death's Head Virus and

threatens to attack Manhattan with it, barring

payment of U .S. $1 billion. And that's where

it pretty much ends. You know, for a long time,

I had been wanting this on VHS or DVD or whatever.

Yeah. And earlier this year, it might have been

late last year, I forget. Let me look here. Yeah,

late September of last year, September 30th,

2008, the film was released on DVD exclusively

to Best Buy stores, which... I immediately went

out. Actually, Best Buy is one of the best places

to buy stuff from because they have in -store

pickups. So you can order whatever you need online,

and as long as you have a local store that has

it available, you can... They don't ship it to

that store. Well, no, they don't ship it to that

store. As long as it's available at the store,

you can just get it from the shelves and bring

it up to the customer service desk. You just

pick it up. But... So, yeah, I immediately went

out when this was announced and got it because

I have always wanted to. I mean, I've seen it

on TV, like, spotty the last couple of years,

like on, you know, my network TV or whatever

the hell the old UPN is calling itself now. Yeah.

But this was just an awesome movie. I don't think

that there was ever a Nick Fury movie before

this. Not that I can think of. I don't even know.

And I think that Hasselhoff did a great job of...

I mean, my main exposure to Fury was when he

was in the Spider -Man cartoons, the Spider -Man

1994 series. Right. And I think going off of

that and watching this, I think Hasselhoff pretty

much nailed the character down, all the way down

to the smoking of the cigar. That... Dickass.

Yes, it was. Yes, it was. And another note that

we should bring up here is, you know, the casting

for this is pretty good. You got Lisa Rinna as

Val. I'm not even going to even try to pronounce

her whole character name. You had Neil Roberts

as Alexander Goodwin Pierce. Let's see. Tracy

Warehouse as Kate Neville. You had Tom McBeath

as Director General Jack Pinser. And, of course,

Transformers fans will know this one. Gary Chalk

played Timothy Aloysius Dum -Dum Dugan. Gary

Chalk was in this movie? Yep. Wow. Yep, he is.

And here is a clip of the swine. All right. Well,

well, well, look what the cat dragged. Who is

the Aloysius Duke? You dead yet, you swine? Nick

Klein! Jerry! So good to see you, man. Yeah,

um... Oh, who was the... And Ron Canada played

Gabriel Jones, who was the doctor. Now, I've

seen Ron Canada before in other stuff. I just

don't know what. At first, when I first saw this,

I thought it was... Oh, man. What's his name?

I think it's Roscoe Lee Brown, who provided the

voice for the Kingpin in the Spider -Man cartoon.

At first, I thought it was him, but it isn't

him. No. Just overall... You know, of course,

you know, made -for -TV movies aren't really

meant to be, like, huge blockbusters, obviously.

I don't know how this one was. I think this one

just got lost. I think that if it had more promotion

and maybe whatnot, I don't know. Yeah. I think

that this would have, like, been put in theaters

before it was brought to TV or whatnot because

here it is, what, nine years later or something

like that. It's on DVD now. Whoa. Wow. I'm just

looking at the – no, it's actually 10 years later.

It came out in 98. Yeah. But, well, I'm looking

at the DVD thing here, and on the front of it

it says, above where it says Nick Fury, it says,

from one of the writers of Batman Begins. Wow.

So, yeah, whoever one of the – I don't know.

I mean, it doesn't say on here who that is. Right.

Overall, made -for -TV movies are obviously exactly

what they say. Some of them are really, really

well done, and some of them are complete and

total horse crap. They just are. But this one,

again for me, and probably for you as well, it's

more to do with, oh, hey kids, look, it's David

Hasselhoff. You know, it's like... You know,

it's like, oh, my God. It's like, yeah. And when

I went back to look for some of the audio clips

that I've gotten, I noticed something in the

final scene right before, well, part of the final

scene, right before he knocks Pinsir out. He

gets up off the table after Gabe inoculates him

with the antivirus or whatever. And guess what

he puts on, folks? He puts on the Knight Rider

jacket. And I've looked at this scene and looked

at this scene and looked at this scene, and I'm

like, yeah, that's the Michael Knight jacket.

At first, I didn't even see that. I was like,

well, okay, it's just a normal jacket. But if

you slow it down, like if you have a slow -mo

type deal, it's like, whoa! Shit, yeah! See,

the thing with me is, though, I didn't even have

to, because I will look and look and look and

look and look at a scene. I didn't slow it down,

but I was like, that's the Michael Knight jacket.

Yeah, where is that picture? Yeah, I actually,

right before we started recording this, I got

a shot of it. I'm not sure. Lately I've been

doing custom, not really custom, but I've been

taking screenshots of classic stuff like we just

did on ToonCast. It's a great pumpkin, Charlie

Brown. And I took a screen cap of when Linus

is sitting in the pumpkin patch with the sign

that says, Welcome, Great Pumpkin. I had one

of my buddies just put the ToonCast letters,

the ToonCast logo on top of that image. I may

not do that with this show. I really don't want

to put too much into it because I was going to

actually put this screen cap as the artwork for

this episode, but I'm not sure if I really want

to do that. But yeah, looking at this... That'd

be cool. Yeah, it would be. I'm not sure. I can

try. But looking at this picture here, it...

It fits just like the Knight Rider jacket. It

looks just like it. It is. There is no question.

I don't care. People can email in. People can

call into the voicemail line and tell me different.

I'm not going to believe it. It is. If you are

a big Hasselhoff slash Knight Rider fan, whatever

the case may be, it is the jacket. Yep, it is.

And I think that was super cool that they put

that in there. Now, I don't know. I don't actually

know how much. How much David actually had to

do with this film as far as outside of acting

in it, I'm not really sure. Not a lot of information

that is out there for this movie. No, not at

all. Just the wiki information that I've gotten

is what I've been able to find. I mean, you can

look on IMDb, but there's not going to be much

else out there, which sucks. And I was going

to write up my own plot synopsis to it, but no.

I got lazy and said, ah, screw it. And here is

another one of my favorite parts to it. It's

been a few changes since you last called the

shots around here. Ah, hell, what rock did he

crawl out from under? Well, I was just getting

to that. You're looking at the new Director General

of S .H .I .E .L .D. Talk about falling upwards,

huh? Talk about falling upwards, huh? As much

as I don't like to badmouth some celebrities,

but that could actually have been said about

David. Because if you think about it, after Baywatch...

That was pretty much it. I mean, he hasn't really

done anything else. Well, he did Baywatch Nights,

even though that wasn't really relevant. Yeah,

no, it wasn't relevant at all. He did do that.

I mean, it took like three years. But other than

that, yeah. Yeah. Overall, I think that, you

know, and of course, this movie is basically

your average terrorist, you know, deadly virus

or bomb threat type deal. I like the vehicles

and the way that they made the S .H .I .E .L

.D. headquarters look in this. It looked really,

really cool, I thought, especially for the times.

I mean, 1998, we were just getting into the technological

age, I guess you could call it. And I thought

that the ships and stuff looked really, really

cool. And it's like, when I first saw this on

TV, I'm like, okay, this is starting, you know,

because it starts out with Von Strucker's body

being stolen from Trinity Base. And then they

fly to the wilderness to get... Fury, and it's

like, okay, okay, okay. And I don't think at

first you actually see David's face, you just

see his back, but you know who it is as soon

as you see just the body type. And you turn around,

and then he turns around, and of course he's

got the classic Nick Fury eye patch, and in the

cigar I'm like, what the hell did they do to

Michael Knight? Oh shit! You know. They pissed

him off. Exactly, yeah. They really, mom. And

here is the knocked out scene. It'll only take

a few moments for your body to start metabolizing

the anti -serum. Thanks, Gabe. You were damn

close that time. Yeah. Gloves only count on horseshoes.

Just keeping you on your toes, pal. Just keeping

you on your toes. You... Might have some residual

discomfort, Nicholas. A few days of diminished

motor coordination. Jerry! Pinscher! Why, you

come to wish me well? Hardly. If you think I've

forgotten your breach of protocol, you're mistaken.

I'm putting in a request for a full disciplinary

tribunal. I will imagine that. What are the charges?

For starters, insubordination, incitement to

mutiny, unauthorized use of a military vehicle.

You forgot one. Attempted grievous bodily harm.

How's that for diminished motor coordination?

One of the greatest scenes that I laughed at

so far. You know, if you look at this film, take

away the actual Nick Fury name and persona, but

just keep the character model. We could have

a very, very dark Knight Rider series. I know

that would go completely against Michael Knight's

character, but yeah, wow. Yep. Yes. Just, as

I said before, I don't know how much more I can

say good things about this film. Again, as we

said, it is a made -for -TV movie. This is actually

probably going to be... MWire's shortest episode,

because I really don't have, I mean, I don't

know what you else have to say about it, but

I really don't have that much to say about it,

I mean. Well, when it came out for the time,

I mean, I saw it, I didn't get a chance to see

the trailers for it, but, I mean, I have it on

VHS somewhere, you know, taped it off the TV,

but, um, you know, I'm glad it's out on DVD,

I'm really surprised that they, you know, don't

have a huge synopsis for it, but. This was one

of the greatest movies that came out. And, you

know, you're right. This could be a dark Knight

Rider series if you really think about it. Well,

I mean, if you just take that, if you just take

the character persona of Nick Fury but leave

his name out of it and just keep the actual character

model as far as visuals with the jacket and the

leather pants and the eye patch and the cigar.

Yeah, it could be, you know, and of course you

would have to take everything else as far as

the movie out, like this whole S .H .I .E .L

.D. thing and everything else. Just take that

character model, pair it with David, and wow,

that would have been a very, very dark Knight

Rider series. He would almost have to drive car.

Pretty fun. I am Kai. Yes, I destroyed you, Kai,

but now I... But, no, see, you know what? I think

this is a good movie for its time. I think people

should go get it. If you haven't seen this movie,

you are missing one of the greatest things to

probably... Yeah, this is... Some people would

think it's sappy, but I think it's very sappy.

I mean, skip the fact that Hasselhoff is in it.

Just don't even look at that fact. Don't even

look at that fact, because... You know, you've

got a great storyline. You've got great action.

And you've got great fight scenes and, you know,

stuff like that. And it keeps you thinking, okay,

what's going to happen next? I like with the

droid in the New York scene when he's throwing

the baseball against the wall. and it comes back

as a bomb. That was pretty cool. Yeah, that was

great. And then one of the other scenes with

Pierce, because they didn't know that they were,

like, androids or whatever. He's like, oh, I'm

stealthy. You know, I was top of my class at

unarmed combat, and he goes up and he tries to

hit the guy in the neck and bang, it's metal.

Like, oh, shit. Of course, Fury. But the thing

about this is you really can't look past the

fact that Hasselhoff is in it. First of all,

it's him on the DVD case, on the front of it,

you know, front and center, basically. And honestly,

outside of Knight Rider and Baywatch, and Young

and the Restless, when he was on that, you know,

what do people really think about, you know...

How do people really remember Hasselhoff? The

people that in 1998 were watching this will remember

him from this. And I think it's just a great

addition to his career, even though, like I said

before, it's just a made -for -TV movie and it's

just something that, I don't know if it was an

afterthought or if it was just something that

they just came up with and said, oh, hey, why

don't we do a Nick Fury movie? Why don't we put

Hasselhoff in it, throw him a bone? Which, you

know, as I said before, I don't really like talking

bad about celebrities. I understand they have

their problems. I'm the type of person that I,

you know, like a celebrity for what roles that

they've done. And if they've made mistakes, they've

made mistakes. I mean, hell. Yeah, they're human.

You know, I think the only time that I would

break that rule is if, like, you know, one of

them is, like... doing weird things to kids or

something or just evil things to children. You

know, that's something different. But, like,

alcohol abuse or drug abuse, come on, everybody

does that. Everybody does it. You know, you have

how many people have been in rehab in the last

ten years? How many people have been in rehab

in the last year and a half because of this fucking

economy? You know, but I mean, the same thing

goes. I mean, you wouldn't have six or seven

different hospitals or rehab centers or whatever

the hell you want to call them. You know, you

wouldn't have those in each city throughout the

country without the people coming in to get help.

You know, and hey, more power to Hasselhoff if

he's getting help and he's doing what he's supposed

to be doing. Me, myself, you know, I said it

when I first saw the, and I know this is kind

of crossing over into Knight Rider, it's kind

of becoming a David Hasselhoff episode and not

really more on Nick Fury, but when I first saw

the Knight Rider 2008 pilot, I first said, you

know, I'm sorry, he looks like shit. I mean,

I understand that when you get older, you don't

do the same shit like you used to be able to,

but it's just not, it's not, I don't think he

was really into that role. I don't know if he

was just tired, but he did look like shit. He

just looked like they just, oh, you know, and

he just looked really tired and exhausted. And

I mean, you know, he's, what, 55, 65 years old,

something like that? Yeah. He's in his 50s. He's

60 now. You know, I don't know. I will always

see him, obviously, as Michael Knight, and I

will always, you know, if ever that he passes

away, or when, not if ever, but whenever. I'm

talking like he's fucking immortal. I wish. Anyway.

Anyways. Wow. Wow, that just went to a... No,

yeah, it just went to, oh, what the hell is that

damn Seinfeld reference? I can't believe I got

it. I hate that. That just went to a, not that

there's anything wrong with that type of moment

there for a minute, but anyway, you know, whenever

he does pass away, I think everybody is going

to be going out and getting that Knight Rider

Complete Series set and just everybody that grew

up with watching him on that. It's just going

to be out there and watching that and watching

those episodes over and over and over again.

Oh, yeah. Because, I mean, you think back, that

was his prime. That's what kept him into prime

time television. That's what kept him alive.

That's what kept him going for years was Knight

Rider. I mean, they were talking about a fifth

season. They didn't do it, but they were talking

about it. And that would have been interesting

to see a fifth season, you know, to come out.

you know, to be 87, you know, 86, 87. That would

have been really good to see, but, you know,

that would be, I think you're right. I think,

you know, when he does pass, whenever that is,

people are going to go and grab the Knight Rider

discs and, you know, the complete series, and

they're going to watch that, and they're going

to be like, you know what? This is what he's

remembered for. Yeah, he's done Nick Fury. He's

done The Young and the Restless. He's done Witchery,

which was done in 89 with Catherine Hicklin.

I mean, there were a ton of other movies that,

let's see. Ooh, I need to find that. I love that

film. That was the other one. I believe it was

93, wasn't it? Yeah, 1993. It was like right

before Baywatch. Ooh, I've been looking for that

on DVD. Damn it, I need to find that film. I'm

going to go find it, dude, because I love that

movie. I have it on VHS, but I've got to find

it on DVD. I have got to find that, because that

was a good movie. That, The Ring of the Musketeer,

and Nick Fury are probably my top two Hasselhoff

favorite movies. I think Witchery comes in at

number three, because it's a good movie. Yeah,

I never even saw that. Well, if you find a plot

on it, it is a bit weird. It is a bit strange,

because obviously it's supposed to be scary.

You know, I believe Linda Blair... Well, yeah,

then it would be scary. But, yeah, I completely...

But, yeah, try to find Ring of the Musketeer,

dude. Hell, yeah. And, see, I always associated

that with another film that is kind of a... It

has nothing to do with, actually, David. It actually

has nothing to do with this episode of MWire,

but I always associated Ring of the Musketeer

with 00kid because I saw them on a satellite

feed. back -to -back one time on HBO or something.

00 Kid is a Corey Haim film where he plays this

kid who is in this junior CIA training program.

It's got the actual actor who is the voice of

Rex in Toy Story. Wallace Shawn is the... As

the villain Cash Pot. But anyway, we're just

going... This episode's kind of turned into everything

else but Nick Fury, but yeah. Yeah, Marvel movies,

what are those? But yeah, you know, this... This

was pretty good. If you have never seen... I

was going to say, if you've never seen... I would

say at the time, Hasselhoff was at his best.

Yeah, I would say so as well. I would say that.

It comes right up there with Knight Rider. Yeah,

I would say so. I hate to say that, and I hate

to compare it to that, but it comes right up

there with the original Knight Rider. Because

this is when they got him at his best. I mean,

I haven't really seen him do anything else in

a while. He hasn't been in any movies for a while.

I mean, it's like you said, he's had his problems.

You know, with alcohol and whatnot. And I don't

like to look at negative celebrity tabloid gossip,

whatever the hell it may be. I don't like looking

at that stuff. But it comes out, and you look

at that, and you're like, you know what, people?

He's human. These people are human just like

we are. And when you look at that, you almost

kind of feel sorry for them because you want

them to get back on their feet. You don't want

them to spiral down. Well, I think what it boils

down to is the fact that, you know, in the 80s,

he was everyone's hero. And you don't want to

see your heroes fall. Not at all. Well, yeah,

I mean, I know that they're going to, but...

Right, right. I'm just saying in general they're

going to. Oh, yeah. It just, you know... And,

again, that's another thing is, as I've said

before, one thing I can't stand about all these

celebrity news shows like fucking TMZ and all

that crap. Entertainment Tonight. Entertainment

Tonight hasn't been good since the 80s. No, they

kind of flopped. Good old Mary Heartless. That's

an Animaniacs reference, I think. Yeah, they

had Mary Heartless in Animaniacs, yeah. I've

actually got the game. You can see Mary Heartless

at the very beginning. Actually, it's funny.

I'm actually looking at David's IMDB. He was

in an episode of Just Shoot Me. He was, let's

see, what else was he in? Shoot me. He was in

an episode of Still Standing. Oh, yeah, I forgot.

He was in Dodgeball, a true underdog story. He

was the German coach. He was in Click. He was

Adam Sandler's boss, which was pretty cool. Let's

see. What the hell? Why in the hell does it say...

Oh, okay, never mind. They had this short -lived

comedy called Semi -Touch. Yeah, no, I was looking

at the Knight Rider listing, and it just says

Knight Rider, and it says 2008 Michael Knight,

and I'm like, oh, what? And then I realized,

oh, wait, that's the new series, right? Let's

see here. He was in a video game, Command & Conquer

Red Alert 3, as a voice. Yeah, he did a video

game voice. He's a robot chicken. Yeah, I don't

know who he played. Let's see. Voice. I'll add

it here. Dr. Oh, wow. Holy crap. He played the

voice of Dr. Galileo Seaworthy. Holy crap, that's

a snark. That's All -Stars awful. Wow. And according

to the latest post -production filming, according

to this, as far as 2009, he is in To Live and

Dine in L .A., which I have no idea what the

hell that is. And then the very first listing

is The Legend of the Dancing Ninja, and apparently

he's filming that right now. Yeah, hmm, is right.

Maybe he's coming back. Yeah, maybe he is. I

don't know. I just, yeah, we can only hope, but

still, he's not going to be. He's not going to

be. No, and I understand that, but I just, I

don't know. When I first, I mean, I think. I

mean, like I said, I mean, you've got, you had

Young and the Restless, and you had Knight Rider.

You know, and then you had Terror of London Bridge,

which I think was an 85 deal. He did do a guest

star appearance in a Perry Mason movie. I just

can't think of which one it was now. Oh, I still

have the thing up here, and I'm looking for it.

The Revenge of the Cheerleaders. Do you know

what his very first... The very first on -air,

on -TV -era appearance was the Dean Martin show.

He played a British guard for one episode, also

known as the Dean Martin Comedy Hour. Well, I

knew about that, but I didn't know he was in

it. Yeah, Semi -Tough was... Wow, Semi -Tough

was in 1980. That was two years before Knight

Rider. I didn't know that. Yeah, but it wasn't...

No, not at all. Oh, the Perry Mason, The Case

of the Lady in the Lake. Played Billy Travis.

Yep. I don't... Wait, did they even... Ah, there

it is. I was going to say... Oh, actually, Ring

of the Musketeers was 92, not 93. But, yeah,

close enough. Yeah. I'm looking at this now.

Okay, we've got to end this episode of MWire

because we're not actually talking about Nick

Fury anymore. But overall, this is one of those

movies that, you know, there are things out there

that people call hidden gems. This is one of

those. And I would say that if you're a David

Hasselhoff fan, and if you're a fan of just...

the Nick Fury character in general, you better

go out to Best Buy or look on eBay. I would say

find your local Best Buy and get it there because

this DVD was a Best Buy exclusive in -store thing.

Yeah, I've seen it on Amazon. Yeah, I've seen

it on Amazon and stuff like that, but still,

I'm very glad that I have this. As I said before,

I had seen it, like, on TV sporadically over

the last years, but I could never catch it at

the beginning. Yeah. So I'm like, oh, wait, cool.

Heck yeah. So do you have any final thoughts

before we go into the closing? That's pretty

much it. I mean, I agree with you. This is one

of those hidden gems that is out there. It's

now available. Go grab it before they decide

to stop production of the DVD. Because you know

how companies are, they'll release it for a couple

years and then, oh, it's gone. So if you don't

get it now, you're going to really kick yourself

in the ass later. So thank you for joining us

And thank you for listening. Until next time.

Against Hightop, there is no shield. There once

was a boy, an albino I'm told, who possessed

the power of pen pusher gold. He had many stories,

all short and exciting, but nobody knew, and

so he began writing. He sat there all summer

and skillfully sought to perfectly ponder and

polish each plot. The settings were set, all

the characters cast, his fingers were flying

and flailing so fast, and soon the young man

with the snowy complexion quickly concocted the

caffeine collection. He smiled, satisfied with

his clever creation. Oh, the things that did

pour from his imagination. Stories of pirates

and future police, of devils and bullies, and

a twist press release. Fantasy, mystery, both

are included. Comedy, action, no genre excluded.
