About this Episode

Mike and Doug revisit John Woo's 2003 sci-fi thriller Paycheck, starring Ben Affleck, Uma Thurman, and Aaron Eckhart. They discuss the film's Philip K. Dick source material, its near-future premise involving memory erasure and reverse engineering, the standout action sequences, and how it holds up over a decade later. The hosts examine the movie's plot mechanics, cast performances, and compare it favorably to similar early-2000s spy thrillers.

what's my favorite baseball team what what's

my favorite baseball team Welcome to MWIRE movie

weekend review. This is episode 116. I am your

host TFJ and Mike. Joining me this time around

is Dog Able from Talking About My Generation.

Hello. Hello, sir. How are you? I am doing pretty

darn good. Pretty darn good today. That's good.

And ladies and gentlemen, we've had a little

switcheroo. Weekend at the movies our other movie

podcast that kind of deals with the news and

box office and all that stuff Has moved to airing

on Fridays, which means now that M wire is back

on We've moved to Wednesdays. So every Wednesday

now on the geocaster an hour you can get comics

cartoons movies, I Don't know what else as far

as podcast goes, but we will be on Wednesdays

at some point for the foreseeable future. Uh,

and this time around, we're, uh... God. Is it

really that long? Oh, I'm getting too old for

this. We're traveling 12 years into the past.

Oh, Jesus. Oh, my God. This movie is 12 years

old. Um... Think this is a pre -benifer movie,

too Probably I Don't know yeah, I I don't I don't

Keep up with I know he's I know he's been married

to Gardner for a while, so that's all I know

yeah Benifer didn't last too long But yes, we

were talking about 2003's paycheck when was the

first time you saw this one Actually, I saw it

in the theater Probably right after New Year's.

I want to say maybe it was New Year's Day We

might have gone to see it but it was my mom my

dad my sister and I we all crowded in the car

went down to the theater and saw it and I was

pleasantly surprised by it I I Thought that it

was gonna be an eh movie and it was better than

I expected I Don't remember when I saw this one

I know it wasn't in theaters, because it just

wasn't. It was way after that, but I remember

the initial reason why I wanted to see it was

because of one line, what's my favorite baseball

team? And then she just, the fake Rachel just

kind of, uh -huh, that doesn't matter. And then

the real Rachel aka Uma Thurman just blasts in.

Uh, that would be the Red Sox? Damn right. And

this movie, it actually, rewatching it again,

really surprised me with some of the stuff that,

I mean, this is one of those movies that happened

in the early 2000s that I really remember even

if I haven't seen it in a long time. Like, last

time I watched this movie was probably... 2006

maybe oh Yeah, so it's been a while But you know

watching it again It's still damn good. Oh Yeah,

I mean it's It's you know based on a Philip K

Dick novel, so you've got that going for it It's

it's not Blade Runner, but it's right up there

as far as I'm concerned with sci -fi type flicks

You know I I thought it was really a lot better

than I expected especially when we start seeing

some of the things that That Ben Affleck's character

starts doing because he's reverse engineer I

my personal favorite was when they they show

him and he does the he makes the screen and He's

got this monitor screen and all of a sudden starts

projecting a 3d image without needing glasses

And then he pulls the screen away, and it's still

broadcasting right there I went okay. That's

pretty bitching. I want one Yeah, absolutely

Now this one I didn't notice this at that time

But and you pointed this out off air, but I had

no idea at the time when I first saw this that

this was a John Woo film Yeah, I mean looking

back on it now. I kind of go okay Yeah, it makes

a lot of sense when you think about things like

replacement killers and how it was with The type

of action that was going on and then to see paycheck

kind of coming through with a lot of the same

types of action especially with the most motorcycle

chase scene through the the railroad yards and

all that I Was kind of like oh, that's not too

bad. I mean, but now that I think about it. I'm

like yeah that that really is typical John Woo

type action Not that it's a bad thing. Oh, no

no no no not at all. I mean as soon as I saw

that old scene with them at the car and found

and well it's not a car so where are the bikes

because it wouldn't be a boat and then I realized

oh crap they're gonna do yeah the mission impossible

2 scenes I'm like oh crap here we go yep which

yeah this movie happened three years after that

wow Interesting when you look at Wu's track record

to see how he progressed throughout his career

as far as being the director of films. Wow, he

started in 68. Holy crap. Jesus. As a director.

But yeah, I mean, he's had so many... But paycheck

basic plot of this is This is supposed to be

one of those near future plots So it isn't like

like in 2003 when this came out. It wasn't saying

that hey, this is 2003. This is like you know,

this is Just kind of like this is the near future

and we're not sure if this is actually gonna

happen or not And that shark still looks fake

Yeah. It's one of those near future kind of stories.

Ben Affleck's character Michael Jennings is a

reverse engineer. He analyzes his client's competitor's

technology and recreates it, often adding improvements

beyond the original specifications to protect

his client's intellectual property and himself.

Jennings, with the aid of his friend Shorty,

worst character name ever, undertakes a memory

wipe to remove knowledge of his engineering.

What do you think of the aspect of of the whole

thing of being a reverse engineer engineer that

doesn't want to remember anything I? Really couldn't

understand that other than that way the only

thing that came to my mind was the reason that

he was doing it was so that they wouldn't sue

his ass for stealing their stuff or That this

way here. He couldn't be pointed back to say

oh, I was the one who came up with that That's

the only thing I can think of is to Why he was

doing that It didn't make a whole lot of sense.

I just kind of like okay, whatever The only thing

I can think of is he didn't want to remember

it because he didn't want like what happens if

a rival company Comes and kidnaps it that too

and tries to torture the secrets out of him This

movie Also stars besides Ben Affleck stars Emma

Thurman Paul Giamatti as shorty and Aaron Eckhart

the future two -face as As as Jimmy Wow, so you've

got you've got poison ivy and two -face in the

same movie You got poison ivy two -face and Rhino.

Oh Jesus I forgot about Paul Giamatti being Rhino

Which sadly that's probably not gonna happen

now that so Sony or yeah Sony and Marvel have

made a deal for For spider -man being in the

Marvel universe that that that's a whole other

topic for another podcast folks We'll be talking

about that at some point, but um but yeah So

basically how the plot here runs down is as I

said James Retrick, played by Eckhart, approaches

Jennings to work on a lengthy three -year reverse

engineering job. Jennings require him to live

in ALCOM's secured campus until its conclusion,

but we're warning him handsomely. with company

stock. Jennings agrees and after arranging for

his long -term absence arrives at ALCOM and turns

in his personal possessions and is given a brief

tour of the facility. And as the movie goes on,

we don't, the one thing I wish we had seen in

this movie is what happened during the time that

he was doing the reverse engineering. Like they,

they mention When he comes out of it after the

three years and it sets up the whole course of

the movie where he sent himself different items.

Apparently during the three years he figured

out, oh, this machine is going to be not good

for the world and whatever else. And then we

get introduced to Uma Thurman's character. Well,

we had gotten introduced to her when he was there,

when we saw him at ALCOM, but... You know we

then get introduced to her and the fact that

oh they apparently had a life together and I

wish we had seen just a glimpse of that even

if it was just you know a five -minute flashback

or something or other because the way This movie

is structured with the flashbacks and him remembering

everything it works. I like it, but At the same

time it's like can we really be sure this happened?

Yeah, I you know I got the feeling like this

was kind of a Total recall take in that respect

and it just kind of pissed me off. I kept thinking

wow, this is stolen and It was okay, don't get

me wrong I like the prospect of it in the way

that they were pulling stuff out because it's

like he gets handed something and oh So I'm supposed

to do something with this item. I'm not sure

what But it was still it was still like you finally

realized that oh, yeah He's got to use this to

you know unlock the door That's that they're

gonna be running up against or something like

that which made kind of made sense But I don't

know it just wasn't great in that respect Yeah,

it was a little um It was a little strange when

it came to the physics of the time travel and

and all that stuff because If you think about

it, this kind of is a time travel movie even

though they're They're promoting it as memory

erasing. Yeah, it's still Because yeah, that's

the other thing. It's like time has passed Yet

He remains unchanged after his memories erased.

Yeah, so he did all this stuff But he doesn't

know anything about it and I understand why he

doesn't know about it, but it just it's When

you get into something like this where you have

someone build a machine that predicts the future

That's not a good thing It really really isn't

yeah Because apparently the future it predicted

was that there would be war Well, yeah war and

you know the nuclear strike financial panic dogs

and cats living together that sort of thing you

know yeah so after he wakes up it now becomes

a mad frantic run for him to figure out because

he left himself all these clues with all these

other items that aren't his personal items and

you have to figure everything out and uh... As

they go through the movie I really like the action

and everything else and I like the personalities

between Affleck's character and Uma Thurman's

character Oh as far as like he wants to sit there

for two seconds Under the the machine to try

to figure out a better way to deal with it and

she just wants to hit it with a giant wrench

I I'm gonna make a comparison though for this

movie the one thing that struck me about this

film and Another film that was very similar in

the process night and day with Tom Cruise and

Cameron Diaz, I believe it was In some ways this

is much better. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, but

you know you got a blonde that you know, she's

kind of being drug around She has no idea what's

going on It's kind of like Ben Affleck had no

idea what was being what was going on with him

and he's running around with a blonde, you know,

I Guess maybe the motorcycle ride is one of the

things that made it pop into my head, you know,

but that's This was much better than night and

day and for that. I'm glad you know I don't even

know why Tom Cruise agreed to do that movie,

but that's for another day I Set myself up. I

know yeah, so as we go through this plot We get

to the point where Michael Jennings figures out

who's been athletes character figures out What

Jimmy wants to do with this thing? Basically

wants to control the world and control the world's

destiny and and all this and all that Jennings

sees his own fate that he gets shot up up on

the catwalks and what can you do to change that

and the whole thing is once he escapes all calm

he has to eventually go back once he escapes

they figure out oh crap he screwed the machine

up because during this three -year period we

don't see a lot of except in little blurbs and

flashbacks apparently he realized what Jimmy

wanted to do and he sabotaged the machine so

they couldn't use it which is ingenious um...

so when he goes back you know he has to actually

fix it and everything else but he figures out

a way oh well nobody should have this kind of

power so in this bag of items he has a bullet

and you send yourself a bullet and you're wondering

what's this for and he comes to realize that

the the things that cool the was it liquid nitrogen

i think he said yeah hydrogen or something or

other uh they're on a pressure sensor timer thing

where they fire in sequence so one two three

four five six so he to give them enough time

to escape basically taped uh or fasten the bullet

to the sixth uh compression thing and so when

that went off it would destroy the machine and

you have the stupid security guard who wants

to use the machine and I'm like dude no just

don't yeah because the security guard uses the

machine and it shows him blowing up and I really

love that scene because not not because the guy

blew up but because it shows it in real time

as it's happening like because he's reacting

to it and it's actually happening to him at the

same time yeah that was kind of cool absolutely

love that um at the end of the movie kind of

wrap with the plot here folks basically um they

get away with it um and the only thing that's

in the box, the only thing that's left in the

envelope is the little Chinese food, the fortune

cookie thing with the fortune and the numbers

which apparently once he got that during this

time that we don't see during the three years

apparently he bought a lottery ticket and hid

it under the birdcage Yeah What was wrong? No

just that that was kind of like you know partially

because Here's my here's my things with this

is that he knew the winning lottery numbers.

He apparently pulled those from using the machine

He didn't want there to be financial ruin, but

yet he's going through and he's using it for

financial gain for himself That was kind of one

of those things that stuck in my craw when I

saw this and I just went Really guys, this is

how you're gonna pull this off. You're gonna

make you're gonna make another bad mistake with

money again, but Well, I mean, I don't think

it's a mistake. He didn't all of a seat I mean,

it's like he's stealing the money. Oh, it's not

like he's you know getting 92 trillion dollars

and you know, basically killing the national,

you know economy here true. I mean It's a standard.

It's not even a big jack. Okay, don't get me

wrong folks. I know. $92 million is a lot, a

lot of money. But you see advertisements nowadays

for $450 million Powerball jackpot or, you know,

you see all these much larger numbers. See that's

the thing where I don't I don't see how he could

have controlled that because How is he gonna

get a fortune cookie? Even if he does look into

the future to see what the numbers are. How does

he know that fortune? He's gonna have that those

exact numbers on I Just yeah, I mean that that's

the thing It's like I've seen a fortune cookie

factory before there are millions of them I mean

it would take him three years alone just to find

the right one true I Think probably what he did

was and this is just my own has nothing it has

to do with the movie This is my own hypothesis

there. I think what he did was he got that they

had Chinese food at some point during the three

years he got that and because he Got that son

at some point during the three years. It was

never claimed because he didn't know he had it

until afterwards or whatever So that they had

never and that that really is more of a crawl

for me is that it was unclaimed. So usually I

don't know how the lottery normally works, but

don't they usually just pass it over? Yeah, after

there's nobody claims it after a certain amount

of time. Yeah, I mean, they they know that there's

a sale on a lottery ticket and they know that

they've sold X number of tickets that have the

winning numbers on them. But. If you don't get

it, I think there's a statute of limitations

for like a year a year and a half or something

like that Before you have to claim it. So three

years sitting there and it's unclaimed and they

still give him the money Yeah, that was a little

strange. But this is my thinking is he already

had the fortune so all he really did was he went

into the future and Saw what the numbers would

be and he found out that they matched up to his

numbers. That's really all it was. There's no

way this guy had enough time to go into the future

make sure like directly this isn't lucky numbers

ladies and gentlemen John Travolta is not in

this movie they're not trying to wait down the

balls of the lottery you remember lucky numbers

yes yes this isn't this is not that and I love

Giamatti at the end he's like Well, you know

that Affleck's all smiling everything else and

what's that? That's a that's a winning lottery

ticket and you might is just like Glory be hallelujah

all this and all that Overall, I love this movie.

I love the story. I love the plot I'm wondering

how much different the Philip K Dick thing is

compared to the film but I'm so I love this movie.

This is a movie I can watch every now and then

and really really enjoy it Oh, yeah, it's it's

definitely one that I can I can sit down on a

weekend and just kind of go okay I'm gonna sit

down and watch this movie and just I Don't want

to say veg because you do need to think a little

bit about what's coming up if you haven't seen

it in a while But it's still pretty good action

flick and it kind of makes you think which I

thought was great That said it is you know some

of it I had a hard time with just because it's

been Affleck and you know it's the new Batman

oh Jesus I just realized that yeah, huh? But

you know I have a kind of a hard time with Affleck

in this And I guess maybe that's just because

I kept seeing him as you know the smartass in

Goodwill hunting You know that that kind of role

What if Batman had a Boston accent? Oh my god,

that would be so hilarious. Oh god. Hey Robin

get over here I think I know he started his very

first role according to Wikipedia was the dark

end of the street in 81 He then went to school

ties and Buffy the vampire slayer 92 days to

confuse 93 mall rats and chasing Amy 95 97 uh...

obviously go hunting armageddon uh... shakespeare

in love uh... phantoms dogma did you know that

we had a he and matt had a small role in uh...

feel the dreams not really worth mentioning but

they were there well it is it's not listed here

for some other reason i don't know why um maybe

they were uncredited that time yeah um and throughout

the 2000s in the in the 2010s here he's had a

somewhat of an all right career when it comes

to movies i mean he was daredevil so uh followed

immediately with gili yeah well he was daredevil

so that does mean he was blind as a bat Yeah,

hooking up with Lopez but He had smoking aces

in 06 he had The town in 2010, which he also

directed He had Argo in 2012, which I still need

to see that That was an Oscar winner, wasn't

it? I think so. Yeah he He had runner -runner

in 2013 young girl last year and next year he's

gonna have Batman vs Superman Donald justice

I am really interested to see his take on Batman

because if you look at the live -action not talking

animation folks specifically live -action because

as we all know Kevin Conroy is the only animated

Batman voice that matters but live -action you

look at I guess we can start with Adam West,

but that's more so television. Yeah, there was

the Batman movie, but in live -action film Michael

Keaton Started it with Tim Burton's Batman and

Batman returns We then went to Val Kilmer for

Batman forever, which I truly believe Val Kilmer

is a better Bruce Wayne than he is Batman Yes,

then went to George Clooney and Batman and Robin

who should have never left the ER That was probably

the worst Batman casting ever. Yeah, um when

it comes to Bruce Wayne Batman and then you know

2005 we had Christopher Nolan for three films

and Begins Dark Knight and Dark Knight Rises.

I'm really interested to see what Affleck does

with Bruce Wayne Batman because I remember after

daredevil after he did daredevil I could have

sworn I read somewhere or or Heard him say in

an interview somewhere. He would never do a Superhero

movie with tights ever again. Oh, yeah, and he

did I just don't remember what the interview

where the interview was Yeah, he said he would

never put on a superhero costume again and uh

Swallow your pride dude. You're you're Batman.

Well, I mean, yeah it's there's a Don't want

to alienate or piss anybody off here. There's

a big difference between Batman and Daredevil

yeah, I mean like if he if he had been cast in

You know the third x -men movie in 2006 or something

as somebody I could see that being Don't get

me wrong folks daredevils an amazing superhero

all that good stuff. I love the daredevil movie,

but I mean It's it's bad bad. I mean it's like

How do you say no to that? Yeah, no matter how

much they're paying him. How do you say no to?

Getting a chance to be Batman All I can say is

I just hope that he doesn't fuck it up. That's

all I Really don't think he will It's possible.

I mean again, like you said we could have a Boston

accent on Batman we could have him pulling it

back to a Adam West type Batman which god forbid

I hope they don't ever go that route Don't get

me wrong. I love Adam West and for the time when

he was doing it. It was comedic. It was perfect

It's not appropriate for the new Justice League

Format that they're going with no, you know Yeah

Okay, so we've got Aaron Eckhart now I've seen

this guy in a plenty of things. I just don't

remember half like he's one of those actors Where

once I see him and I hear his voice and I see

his face. I'm like, oh, it's that guy But I still

never hardly ever remember his name. Yeah He's

first thing One of the first things he did was

aliens in the family in 96. That's not like the

first thing he did, but it's one of them He had

Any given Sunday Aaron Brockovich nurse Betty

Let's see here One of my favors was thank you

for smoking he is this He's like this twisted

pitch man PR man for like Philip Morris or some

cigarette company and he pulls it off he goes

to his son's class and He tells everybody that

he tell he gets them to actually Get rah rah

rah about smoking a bunch of kids that are like

you know ten and twelve years old And it's just

hilarious to see it see him pull it off. It's

meant to be kind of a tongue -in -cheek Comedy

about this about the tobacco industry and it's

hilarious well worth watching Since the since

the dark night he's had before right before the

dark night he did The Wicker Man, Black Dahlia,

No Reservations, Towelhead, Meet Bill, Dark Knight.

At post -Dark Knight, he did stuff like Love

Happens, Battle of Los Angeles, The Rum Diary,

then there was The Dark Knight Rises, but he

was only photographing and archived footage in

that. Most recently, he did Olympus Has Fallen

a couple years ago, I, Frankenstein, and Incarnate

last year. This year he's got something that

he's filming called bleed for this and then my

all -american He's a good actor I liked him in

this I thought he was really really good in this.

Yeah You know, he always seems to play these

These smarmy people that you want to hate but

you just can't for various reasons and he pulls

that off so well Yeah, absolutely Uma Thurman,

I mean like you already said she was Poison Ivy,

but she was also in Kill Bill and all that We

got to talk about You know They said I was picking

up a little blue car. Nobody mentioned a little

blue man Paul Giamatti, this is a guy that does

stuff that you just don't think he would do And

honestly the first thing I remember him from

and we're gonna have to do this film sometime

here on Mwire Looking at his little His his filmography

here on on Wikipedia here the first thing I really

stands out for me with him is 1997 Howard Stern's

private parts. He was pig vomit. Oh Jesus I Tried

to watch that I just couldn't bring myself to

it partially just because at the time I was very

anti Howard Stern I've gotten better about it.

So I May have to sit down and watch it if I think

I can get through it He was also in the negotiator

the original dr. Doolittle's saving private Ryan

If these walls could talk to Big Mama's house,

we just had a conversation about that those films

the other day. Yes Let's see he was in American

Splendor in 2003 He was in sideways in 2004.

Whoa, hold on. There's a movie that he did called

Thunderpants About an 11 year old boy's amazing

ability to break wind Yeah, oh Jesus Paul I'm

sorry. I'm sorry you had to go for that. You

must have been young and needed the money He

was in like I said he was in big fat liar in

2002 He was in Cinderella man, let's see the

illusionist in 2006 Nanny Diaries shoot him up

Freddy Claus in 2007 See most recently he's done

he did rock of ages in 2012 Turbo in 2013 12

using 12 years a slave 2013 John Adams the the

HPL miniseries if you have not had a chance to

see it Sit down and watch it because you will

get chills from how good he is in that I mean

it's it's amazing at how well he plays the second

president of the US Well worth the watch For

TV he's been in a lot of stuff on TV he NYPD

blue homicide life on the street Saturday Night

Live as a host 30 rock Down to Navi. He does

the audio version of A Scanner Darkly by Philip

K. Dick. Holy crap. For the audiobook, yeah.

This cast was well put together. I mean you couldn't

get different actors to play these roles and

have it be the same enjoyable movie that it was.

I know it's seeing when you've got you know you've

got Joe Morton from from Terminator movies you

know James Dyson you've got Michael C Hall who

everybody knows as Dexter or that guy from six

feet under in these just a great great cast and

The whole thing with this is that I didn't think

that they were gonna be able to pull it off And

I didn't think this movie was going to be Anywhere

successful you know cuz I thought Okay, well

you can throw a bunch of characters together

a bunch of actors together who are good Mm -hmm,

and you know you can end up with some really

shitty stuff. It's happened. We've seen it You

know I'm trying to think of some off top my head.

There's no saving anything No, no saving the

movies, but I can't of course off top my head

think of anything Yeah I can net now that I look

at his at Joe Morton's filmography here Every

time I've seen paycheck. I'm like, where have

I seen this guy before? Where have I seen this

guy before and yes? Terminator 2 did come into

my mind, but not more so than when he played

Mac in speed It's like oh my god. That's lieutenant

Mac. Yeah, that's awesome And of course anybody

who anybody who ever watched Eureka on sci -fi

He was like one of the big characters there Henry

Deacon. So He was Cable Chamberlain on Blues

Brothers 2000. I know a lot of people don't like

Blues Brothers 2000, but I kind of liked it.

The fact that they had him as. Oh, God, I'm Mini

the Moocher. What the hell is his name? My God,

I should know this. Cab Calloway's son. Yeah,

they had him playing Cab Calloway's son. I'm

just like. Oh, well, yeah, it worked. But at

the same time, I. Had a hard time with it And

currently he is Rowan Pope on scandal so there

is that Paycheck You know for trademarks obviously

because this is a woo film it You know includes

two Mexican standoffs the appearance of a dove

and a hollow birdcage so much of the opening

tea house scene of hard -boiled The critical

response here, it was met by mixed critical reception.

Rotten Tomatoes give the film a score of 27 %

based on 154 reviews. Rotten Tomatoes to me,

I know there's a bunch of user -based scores,

but there's also the actual Rotten Tomatoes score.

Rotten Tomatoes to me is the Internet's version

of the MPAA. I would love to know who the hell

is working at Rotten Tomatoes to get some of

these movies the rotten ratings that some movies

get. Like, you know, I read something like that,

that it has a 27 % rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

I'm like, really? The movie is not like a masterpiece,

but it's enjoyable. Yeah. You know some of them

and some of them I don't even agree with because

they say that like There's been some people that

have come out and said oh Rotten Tomatoes hated

Guardians of the Galaxy. I loved it Yeah, you

know come on guys Yeah, you know whenever any

of our Any of our other coasts bring up Rotten

Tomatoes, it's like do we really have to talk

about that website really seriously wrong I mean,

it's the place where everyone goes, but it's

just one of those things where... Well, it's

either this or IGN, which you have problems with.

Well, everybody has problems with IGN, but I

mean... Yeah. You know. You know, the tomato

meter for... The run it is 91 % for guardians

cuz when they said it was horrible. I Mean they

might have said something You know like that

but it's it's still at 91 % for the actual rotten

tomato meter for the audience score It's 93 %

liked it. So, okay. I mean it's not like It's

nothing like Man of Steel Yeah All right folks,

I think that's gonna do it for us here in NY

did you anything else you wanted to bring up

about paychecks there? No, I think we've covered

it pretty well All right, because IDW Publishing

has now started, I don't know if it's an ongoing

or if it's just a mini -series, but they have

started Galaxy Quest The Journey Continues, taking

place after the events of the film. Next time

on MWIRE, we're going to be, I don't know, when

I say we're, I don't know if it's going to be

Doug and I or somebody else, but we're going

to be taking a look back at one of Tim Allen's...

OK movies? We're going to be taking a look at...

Galaxy quest next time here on M wire. Oh I can

hear the audience screaming in fear now Come

on. I love that film. Oh, okay. Good. I don't

know some people may like it some people may

not like it I don't remember. I thought it was

hilarious. Oh Yeah, but yeah, IDW publishing

is now got a comic series about that movie Which

like I said takes place After the events of the

film so What have you got coming up over on talking

about my generation sir? Well, we are finishing

out the failed franchises February I'm working

on some interviews to hopefully we can get some

interviews coming in here Not exactly certain

I mean, these plants are on life support. What

do you mean? Really? He told me he had a green

thumb. Garing green is more like it. Lucky for

Shorty, I'm a biologist. Well, lucky for both

of us. Since I failed biology, I'm no help to

either one of you. So you say. Too bad, though,

because I'm looking for a partner for a startup

company. Really? Mm -hmm. Doing what? I want

to save the world. Oh. Don't think I'm your guy.

But would you settle for someone who wants to

help you change it? Mm, OK. Good. So how does

it end for us, Michael? I mean, what's in our

future? You know, I don't know. I can't like

it that way. I do know one thing. What's that?

I never want to forget anything. Never again.

Yes, I did. Who does everything for everybody

around here? You do. You're right. You are my

hero. Thank you very much. You hear that? I'm

a hero. This is great. I think I remember. Are

those our birds? Yes, of course they are. We

bought them together. Oh, you remember the birds.

Well done. You could see into the future and

all you remember are Polly and Tweety over there.

Why don't you remember something that would make

us rich? How am I? Wait a second. What is it?

I think there was something else. No, no, no.

The envelope's empty. Don't worry about it. Hold

on. I'm working back right here. If you only

look where you can't go, you will miss the riches

below. I must have known you would never get

rid of these birds, right? Of course not. They're

family. So I knew this would be here. What only

looks where it can't go cage bird You will miss

the riches below The riches below I think now's

probably a good time to discuss my commission.
