About this Episode

Introducing the return of Steve and Mary from Fit.Ready.Go in a new show and format.

Hello! This is Mary Phillips and this is my podcast

and it's my first show so I just want to kind

of explain to you what I want to accomplish with

this show. I first want to introduce myself so

as I said I'm Mary Phillips, I'm the mom of two

boys. Can't really say sweet but no I love my

bunnies. Anyways, I am a health coach and a personal

trainer. And I just wanted to share a little

of how I got to be where I am. So food was a

struggle for me my whole life, my childhood,

my teenage years, my young adult years. And it

was just something that I constantly struggled

with. Well, there came a point where enough was

enough. My husband and I, for one, we went on

our honeymoon to Jamaica back in 2009 and I actually

could not walk one mile up. It's called Duns

River Falls. It was a waterfall. So that was

a big thing for me because I didn't realize that

I had gotten myself as far as I had. But eight

months before that, we had gone to an amusement

park. There was a new roller coaster and I waited

almost four hours in line for that roller coaster

just to get to it and I couldn't buckle the seatbelt.

It was kind of my walk of shame but I remember

going to my at that time fiance and one of our

friends and I was like I knew it was big but

I'm not that big and of course they're like no

you're not that big you should have been able

to fit you know well the rest of that day I couldn't

ride pretty much anything there were some certain

types of rides that I was able to fit on but

most of them I couldn't. I made excuses because

we make excuses and my wedding dress was my excuse

while I'd already ordered it. I can't lose weight.

Then when we did the Jamaica trip and I couldn't

do the Duns River Falls, I couldn't do the excursion

for horseback riding. I came home and I said

enough was enough. And I started with a personal

trainer and I have lost 170 pounds. So now since

then I've I've had such a long health journey

and I've learned so much. And now I'm a national

nutritionist, I'm a personal trainer, I'm a health

coach, a life transformation coach and a group

fitness instructor. And so really my goal in

life is to really be helping people to learn

how to be healthy, both in body and mind. And

so I will be talking some. Some episodes may

have some Bible scriptures in them and really

focusing on God and our bodies as the Holy Temple.

I'm going to cover a lot of different things,

kind of things like exercise and how to get into

exercise, you know, nice little things to do

to get into exercise. I'll be talking some episodes

on nutrition and different nutrition tips and

tricks, I guess. I even plan on having one of

my friends, she has struggled with anorexia pretty

intensely. And so at some point we're going to

explore eating disorders and discuss that. I

have another friend that might possibly come

on or if I have not her, I'll find somebody else,

but kind of in home remedies, maybe talk about

things like oils and different things we can

do to just keep health. in home remedies and

I really want to talk on mindset and focusing

on God but also focusing on food as fuel and

not an obsession or not that something that we

turn to for emotional things like happiness or

sadness and really just focus on those things.

and my main purpose is to help others in their

health. I want others to know it's possible even

if you're over 300 pounds or maybe you're 400

pounds or maybe you're 200. It is possible to

change your life now. It is never too late. And

then one of the top things is just teach others

that it is possible to love yourself. I definitely

have my up days and my down days, but overall

I can now look in the mirror and not just hate

everything I see and I can look at pictures of

myself and just love myself. I'm still learning,

but trying to grow and see how God sees me. So...

If you have any ideas of things you would like

to hear covered on this show, shoot them my way.

I would love more suggestions of what my listeners

want to hear and I will give you the best advice

that I can. So have a good day.
