About this Episode

A deep dive into the flaws and design choices of the recent Voltron action figure set. The discussion covers the problematic gimmick that hinders posing, concerns regarding paint quality, and the overall lack of balance. Additionally, the hosts address the upcoming Castle Grayskull release, their thoughts on the design of the Grayskull-men figure, and the frustration of managing collections alongside rising hobby costs.

Speaking of boxes, I'm so putting Luna lion in

the post this episode no Jesus No, did you actually

put her in the box? She went in there herself.

She stuck her hand there inside of it She opened

it up and she forced herself into it We were

sitting here. The day that I posted it, I had

just gotten it, you know, and I just opened it

and started going through and doing my shit with

it. And it was hilarious because Vern was in

here and we were looking at the fish tank because

she comes in here and she looks at the fish tank.

That's her thing. So we're sitting there and

all of a sudden Luna is playing around with the

box and she's like trying to open the flap. Inference

like she's gonna she's gonna open the flap. She's

gonna open the flap. I'm like, well, that's okay

I mean, she's not gonna hurt anything. It's it's

gonna go into the garbage So she wants to play

in it let her play in it, you know And she was

just sitting there and like I said, you know,

the flap was half closed So she couldn't really

get to it or she couldn't really get into it

She just kept at it and eventually opened it

up herself and crawled in there Fucking burger

was sitting there the whole time looking at her

like she was a nut job You should've so got that

on video. What the hell's wrong with you? I tried,

but she ran away too fast. Yeah. I swear Voltron

looks drunk. That's gonna be part of the show.

That's hilarious. This guy, cause he's just like

leaning forward. Oh God. I really like those

Castle Grayskull men though. Castle, you like

the - I actually do. I actually do. You know

what it reminds me of? You like the 30th anniversary

Castle Gr - Winning Fig - Oh, what the fuck is

wrong with you? Dude, okay. This - This is the

ugliest figure I have ever seen. It's absolutely

ugly, but you know what it reminds me of? You

remember in, uh... You saw the Mummy movies,

right? Yeah. You know how there were, like, statues

and stuff that were part of, like, Emotep's tomb

and everything that came to life? Yeah, that's

what that's what the grayskull men remind me

of it. It almost reminds me of like Because you

see all the brick and stuff on them. It's like

in my mind I imagine them being a part of castle

grayskull and then when they need to like defend

it they like Form out of the brick and come out.

That's I think it's a cool concept If you add

snakes to that character's head, that's essentially

a male version of Medusa to me. Because that

thing is the ugliest fucking figure I have ever

seen. That thing is uglier than Armada Hotshot.

You know, I honestly think the ugliest part is

the yellow hair. I don't know why they gave him

yellow hair. I don't know if that was how...

What's the dude's name? Daniel. I don't know

if that's what he... Daniel Benedict, I think.

I don't know if that's how he... Originally wanted

it to look but I mean it is kind of ugly in that

regard, but I mean other than that I mean the

face looks like the drawbridge of Castle Grayskull

Fugly as shit. It is it is absolutely fugly,

but I mean it it just seems like Don't know something

that just like would form directly out of the

castle to protect the castle. It's it's I think

it's cool I'm buying I'm buying a couple of those

actually You're wasting your money. I gotta find

somebody that wants to buy I got so much shit

that I want to sell to people But nobody wants

to buy it. It's like what do you have? Well,

I have I have the snake men to pack. I don't

want that Okay, I have the dragon blaster Skeletor

that I don't want Okay, I got I still got the

star sisters. I mean there's stuff that I have

up in my shelf that is from like a While ago

that I just want to get rid of Decker. I have

no interest in Decker Yeah, I don't even know

who the fuck Decker is where is he is he? What

is he? I'd have to look it up. It's probably

a comic thing. I think it's one of those old

vintage comic things I don't know his bio here

Against Marzo's tyranny his wisdom. Yeah, see

I have no interest in in him So it's like I'm

not even gonna. Oh, I mean the snake meant to

pack the the sky I haven't even opened the the

white mailing box You know, I have no interest

in them. They're cool looking, but I'm being

very selective with my display. I mean, I have

to be, just because it's getting ridiculous.

I mean, so it's like... Pretty soon you're gonna

have Elise Lurie in your house and she's gonna

make you sell shit. Pretty much, yeah. This isn't

vintage, you need to sell this. You know, but

I mean... Decker I have no interest in you know

the King randor. I absolutely love that one Yeah,

that is fantastic that I have to now go back

and find a prince Adam I have to find a Queen

Marlena I got I got to get those you know figures

in order to kind of complete that look And then

like I said the castle grayscale man. I just

think that that's gonna be awesome especially

especially if the the the new Castle Grayskull

gets me. What's what is it at now? Oh, it's it's

kind of low It's kind of low. It's got to go

to Monday. Yeah They're their thermometer thing.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All right Minimal border November

Yeah, you know and and I was talking I was talking

to count Marzo on Twitter. He doesn't necessarily

believe this thermometer thing, and I was like,

you know, yeah, I don't know, but I really think

that if it was higher, they would probably show

it being higher, but I was like, I honestly don't

expect this to get made. I'll be very disappointed

if it doesn't, because I absolutely do love this

thing. I really want one. But the problem is,

you could totally see it in the 2013 line that

You know with the subscription the only reason

that passed was because people that already ordered

it went through and ordered more You know, I

mean they ordered as many subscriptions as they

could possibly afford It doesn't it didn't cost

that much in order to do that So it really did

to me it doesn't show that there's a huge Following

for this just people buying multiples of the

subscriptions and it's proof with this Castle

Grayskull because People aren't people are only

buying one of these because of the cost people

aren't gonna go back and buy five of them To

get the quota. It's just not gonna happen people

don't have that kind of money to do that Yeah,

and the stuff so people are buying one maybe

two at the most maybe two But it says a lot to

me because this doesn't even come out until Next

year Christmas of next year or something like

that. Yeah Yeah. So people have over a year to

save the money for this and they're not doing

it. So stupid. So to me, I mean, I'll be disappointed

that this doesn't get made. Yeah. But I mean,

I don't, I really, I might be surprised if it

doesn't get made. I'll be disappointed, but I

won't be surprised. Right exactly. Yeah, I would

love to see this thing Come out. I mean full

full size to fit with it with the classic figures

I'm gonna be huge. How tall is this gonna be

there? I don't know 20 inches high so not I mean

not even as high as Voltron like you cut off

They couldn't even oh my god they okay 20 inches

high is enough to, you know, to be able to fit,

you know, seven, eight inch figures nicely. That's

all well and good. They couldn't make Castle

Grayskull larger than Voltron. What a bunch of

fucking morons. You know, and one thing that

I'm kind of concerned about is you look at it

and, you know, when I watched the cartoon, like

the drawbridge, it was huge. You know, as He

-Man stood in front of it, it was massive. Yeah,

it didn't I mean it wasn't that he just barely

was able to fit inside of it and looking at this

You know looking at the design that they have

it really only looks like The drawbridge is I

mean these figures are what? How tall are these

things six and a half to eight to seven and a

half inches? I mean, I mean just the regular

he man figures about what seven inches? Right.

Yeah, I have seven inches. This only looks like

the drawbridge is only like maybe seven and a

half inches Yeah, you know, well, you know, I'm

you to make that motherfucker like nine inches

tall Or something that's how big the drawer should

be Apparently size does matter Do it right is

what I'm saying and that leaves are you recording

this? Yeah, okay, and that leads into what we

are gonna talk about with all right, but hold

on hold on hold on I gotta I gotta talk about

gray skull for a second I gotta talk about the

show because currently myself and optimus solo

are we have started our powers of gray skull

series Yes, that does and you know anagram to

pogs We're starting with tales of attorney and

we are 12 episodes into the original he -man

cartoon watching it reviewing it everything else

in podcast form and Yeah, you're right that that

job bridge when it when it lowers as it's lowering

the the actual job bridge looks huge But when

it's when like you see Skeletor standing next

to it And the camera angle is slightly off kilter

the door does not look really that big But you're

right when it when it does like lower and stuff

it looks huge in the cartoon Well, I mean it

lowers and there's a lot of I mean old transformers

g1 What do you even call that um? Mass shifting

that happens I mean as it comes down it like

elongates when it's when it's thing But I mean

I I really think that you know when you look

at it if that drawbridge was nine inches For

a you know six and a half seven inch figure.

I think a nine inch drawbridge. You know the

height of it would be awesome. I think that would

be probably the best thing, and that would increase

the size of the overall thing and increase the

price and all that stuff, but if you're gonna

do it, do it right. That's what I'm saying, and

like I said, that kinda leads in segues perfectly

into what we're gonna bitch about. comes a legend.

The legend of Voltron, defender of the universe.

A mighty robot, loved by good, feared by evil.

As Voltron's legend grew, peace settled across

the galaxy. On planet Earth, a galaxy alliance

was formed. Together with the good planets of

the solar system, they maintained peace throughout

the universe. Until... A new horrible menace

threatened the galaxy. Voltron was needed once

more. This is the story of the super force of

space explorers. Specially trained and sent by

the Alliance to bring back Voltron. Defender

of the universe. Voltron, defenders of the universe.

It's time for Voltron. Get ready to assemble.

Activate interlock. Dino curves connected. This

is this is Maddie rent 2012 another one here

on team bottom of sour and this time we're gonna

be talking about club lion farce that's That's

really what it is it you know Aside from the

fact that it took me an extra month And and and

everything is owed to pixel Dan it is I mean

cuz he I private messaged him and he's like I

don't really like doing this because a lot of

people Asked me to do this for him, but I know

it's you blah blah blah You know I'll send a

message over to Scott and see what we can do

and and the second that he did that Well, not

not the second, you know, but within minutes,

you know, he's like Scott just messaged me back.

He says give me your order details. Give me your

contact information Give me all that stuff and

he's like I'll pass it over to the people and

I'm like Wow That was pretty quick. So I gave

it to him and by that day the end of that day

I had a new Order number thing in my order history

on Maddie collector. There was no charge or anything

like that, but it had All my my matic my subscription

stuff. Oh, that's the other thing. I forgot that

I got frost and rat more um Those those are in

a box back over there, too I don't even know

if I want to keep those figures um But I got

a whole new thing for those it took another week

before they actually shipped But here's the hilarious

thing they shipped on the 31st and they used

their New gist X so it went up to Sparks, Nevada

shipped on the thirty first i had it on the second

so it's kind of fucked up it really can it is

especially when my previous order has been lost

it could show up i have no idea I nobody knows

where it is I can I can just see now I can I

can hear I can hear count Mars those tweets of

saying oh Both TF2 and Mike and off the bottom

is good free stuff from Maddie They have no right

to bitch blah blah blah buddy blah. I already

know it was you know anyway, but he can bitch

all he wants but you know if if I do get a black

another black lion I have already promised that

to somebody and I'm not charging them. Yeah,

you know, so they're they're they're the ones

getting a free figure out of the whole damn thing

but So so the the far so the whole point of episode

33 here is that I watched Paul's Voltron video.

Over the last year, he's been doing Yellow Lion,

Blue Lion, Red Lion, Green Lion, and now Black

Lion. I actually missed the Black Lion video

at first. I don't know how the hell I missed

it, but I went back and I watched that. Then

I watched your full -on Voltron review. Minus

the awesomeness of Berger's ass in the way. Burger

is his cat for those of you who don't know. I'm

watching this video and I'm watching you just

struggle with it once you assemble Voltron. And

you're like, well, if I angle the leg this way,

maybe no, it won't stand up that way. Or if I

move it this way, no, then it looks like it's

leaning back in a chair. If I angle it this way,

no, it looks like a fucking drunk. Irishman from

what whatever no no no and then oh let me try

to put the sword in his hand oh no that's not

gonna work the damn thing falls out because red

lion is the worst out of all out of them all

and I was like we got a podcast about this piece

of crap toy you know there's the part in there

where the the line completely fell on his face

Yeah, because it did that I mean I when I that

was I didn't plan for that to happen I didn't

know that was gonna happen and I had to I had

to grab it before it completely Smackdown and

in doing so I it gashed my hand. I mean, I mean

I was actually bleeding from my hand. It's it's

Voltron injured. I know I'm suing I'm suing medical

you know Individually the lions are not that

bad. I have I have my qualms with them I really

think that the black lion looks pretty good.

I like the way the black lion looks And and even

even when you fully form Voltron It looks pretty

good It's I mean aside from the fact that it

does not have an adult quality or adult collector

quality paint job It's got a gimmick in there

that ruins the adult collectible figure whatever

i mean even my wife after we got done filming

she's like i don't know why they didn't paint

uh... this thematic like the one like the masterpiece

one she said why didn't they do that it's like

they started doing that because when you look

at it voltron space is painted silver she's like

well i don't know why they didn't just it's like

they thought about doing and then they just stopped

and you know i i don't have an answer for that

i mean it's The you use the term, you know the

club, you know volts are on the lion farce And

it really it really is and I mentioned this in

the video that this is definitely something that

you could see being mass -released at Walmart

for kids you put the gimmick in there and that's

Especially with the gimmick. That's a kid gimmick.

There's only one part of the gimmick that really

Works in my mind and that's when you push his

chest and in his face forms. That's the only

thing that's really Cartoon accurate because

you never in it. You never saw the lions go from

Voltron to lion. I mean, unless he got hit really

hard and then he shattered. Yeah, there are a

couple of, well, there are a couple of times

in the animated series, because I remember like

the back of my hand. There are, there's maybe

like one episode out of the entire series where

they did, well, they formed Voltron and it wasn't

working against the Robeast, so they had to then,

you know, disassemble and. and go at it with

the lions themselves so that is kind of accurate

but the the gimmick in the toy that should not

be there though no the whole point of this entire

year since this thing was announced last year

the whole point was for you to get a 23 inch

Voltron the biggest toy there has ever been right

You know, that was the whole point. That was

the whole selling point. I understand that they

wanted to do cartoon accuracy in terms of how

the lines looked. That's fine. But when you watch

the cartoon, they're shiny. I mean, you want

cartoon accuracy, OK, fine. Put some shiny silver

on the legs. remove the damn gimmick that probably

costs more than the paint and put the paint on

the damn figures. Nobody wants that gimmick.

I don't know anybody who has reviewed this that

likes that gimmick. Pixel Dan. I love Dan. Good

guy. He doesn't even like the gimmick in it.

And he's been vocal about that. I have not seen

anybody who's reviewed this that is very happy

with that gimmick. You could remove the gimmick,

remove the springs, take out the, you know, that

whole mechanism shit, you know, you can remove

the buttons, I mean, you can make just one solid

thing so you don't have to mold a whole new piece,

and you could use that money to actually paint

the figure to make it look good. That's, that's,

that's one of the biggest complaints that I've

had with all the individual lines. They don't

look terrible on their own. I don't mind them.

Oh wait Can you hear me? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Well,

what the hell happened here? My headphones. Hello?

Yeah. All right. Well my headphones it said that

they detest but they didn't everybody always

asks me Oh because my birthday's coming up, you

know, all my family members are like I'm one

of the most difficult people to buy things for

because I just buy stuff What you know, whenever

I need it. I need to tell people I say I need

a new like, headphone thing. That's what I need

for my birthday. That's what I'll tell my sister

to buy me, because she's like, tell me what you

want for your birthday. I'm gonna tell her to

buy me some headphones. So, um, that was a random,

optobotomist tangent right there. Uh, but, you

know, so, so, I mean, all that stuff aside, you

know, that, that, when you combine that, you

know, the pain thing is one thing. The gimmick,

though, when you combine this into Voltron, the

gimmick is, Seriously flawed. There's a lot of

quality control issues number one That really

affected if if this was a perfect if all these

figures were perfect quality control where they

didn't Spring out when they're not supposed to

Right just because of the quality control gimmick

or issues Yeah, you know I mean if it's if those

things are not 100 % on the money You flick the

damn thing and the legs are gonna pop out So

if we put that aside and just look at that, it's

not that big of a deal. But because of the quality

control that goes into a lot of these, you have

a lot of problems. You move the arms, you move

the legs, and you have to. I was thinking beforehand,

I was like, well, what if you just positioned

the limbs and all that stuff before you actually

combined it into Voltron? If you got everything

positioned right and then put everything together,

Then maybe it wouldn't be popping out all the

time But you can't even do that because there's

no way to know how the damn thing is gonna balance

because of the weird weight distribution that

Voltron has you have to have everything fully

assembled and you have to be able to move the

arms and move the legs while it's all connected

to be able to get it into a Balanced position

and even when that happens, it's not even a really

good pose So it's so hard to pose that thing.

Everybody talks about the great articulation.

It is great that a figure this big has some pretty

good articulation, but it has no poseability.

It's got articulation, but no poseability. And

somebody mentioned that maybe if they, on the

bottom of the blue and yellow lion's head that

form its feet, if they made a little flip out

thing, where you could, you know, kind of offset

that forward lean, that might help things, and

it might've. But my whole thing is, and I was

talking, for those of you that don't know, I

know a lot of people, just in general. And one

of them is one of the actual designers of the

masterpiece Voltron. I personally know the guy.

He designed that toy. I was hanging out with

them last month at our local LA area transformer

meetup and And there were two Voltrons there

There was one that was was just normal and then

incline design actually came and he had a painted

up version which looked fantastic And so I was

sitting there. I was talking to the the designer.

I don't want to give his name or thing I don't

know if he wants people to know that kind of

stuff, but I was sitting there talking to him.

I was like What do you really think about that?

He's like, honestly, he's like, whoever designed

that should be ashamed of themselves. And like,

really? And this is coming from the guy who,

like I said, designed the masterpiece Voltron

that I showed in my review. He's like, yeah,

he's like, that's, it's like all they did was

look at the lions and then they stopped. They

designed the lions, but then they didn't put

them all together to see if it actually functioned.

It's like they did, they went from A, to see

and they skipped B in the engineering and design

process. He's like, it just doesn't work. And

I was amazed to hear this from him. He was so

critical of the whole thing. And it really is

a very bad design. I mean, there's some things

I can understand why the red lion's head is as

tight of a ratchet joint as it is. Cuz you gotta

be able to hold the sword. The sword is a pretty

heavy thing, but... The ratchet joint makes me

worried that it's gonna break every single time

that I turn it. It's really bad. The shield on

it, the shield just looks stupid. It just looks

like he's putting his arm out there, and he's

like, ugh, there's my shield! If anybody in every,

you know, when you hold the shield, you kind

of have your arm bent, you have it twisted, and

it's up to your body. You know, not sticking

it out as if you're shooting something from your

fist. I mean, there's just so much stuff that

goes into it that wasn't thought through. And

that's the designers. But then I ultimately have

to go to Scott Knightlick because he is the brand

manager of this. When they bring this stuff to

him, And he says, OK, yeah, that looks good.

Let's do that. What? Just shut up. I mean, it

just makes no sense. And I mentioned this in

my video for Voltron, that you look at the Masters

of the Universe classics. They have fantastic

paint. They have fantastic sculpting. Those are

adult collectible figures, without a doubt. Those

are not toys for kids to play with. Right. You

look at Voltron and Sorry to say but it looks

like a toy It does not look and it does not feel

like an adult collectible figure You can't even

stand the damn thing without him imitating Michael

Jackson in the whole like in the whole like,

you know Any are you okay in that in that, you

know smooth criminal music video where they're

leaning. That's what he looks like I Mean, come

on Now, okay, let me pose this question to you.

Would you have, okay, you said in the video that

the Lions are X, X, X, X, and X as far as the

price. The total cost is like $275. That's without

shipping, correct. Right. Would you have paid

that amount if this was just a... standard solid

body Voltron, no combining, no disassemblage,

no nothing. It was just Voltron with the same

size. It still retains the articulation of the

knees and all the other stuff, but it wasn't

meant to come apart. Would you still want it

and still pay for it? That's actually a very

good question, Mike. It's tough for me to say

yes to that because... And I recently went through

this when I bought the the season one Megazord

from Power Rangers by the by the something something

something Asia blah blah blah Superposable one.

I'm like, yeah, I don't want that sure. It's

Superposable sure. It looks great It you know,

it's it all that stuff, but I like the concept

of being able to combine them That's what I want.

That's what that's what I want. That's what I

like. I You know if you're gonna pay $275 You

know and you know a cent since doing that video

and I kind of mentioned I touched on this You

know that for that amount of money you do get

a fair amount of stuff I mean you get all the

figures Initially, I remember when this first

was announced initially the figures were gonna

be sold separately Those were originally going

to be sold separately and then they were combined

and the price was reflective of that. So when

you pay $65 for the black line, $15 of that really

is that three and a quarter inch key. Yeah, exactly.

$15 for a three and a quarter inch key, that's

kind of it. That's ridiculous right there. That's

what you have to look at, that you're paying

$15 for a three and a quarter inch key. uh...

keith figure that at retail really should be

about like eight nine dollars okay now all right

so technically there are six because you do count

sven because he was the club exclusive so eight

ninety nine times six figures that's what i think

i did that wrong i hate math eight dollars ninety

nine cents times six 53 no, it is right. It's

essentially what they should have done was was

do it to the point of All the figures in one

box set by themselves just the figures That's

like a 55 buck, you know a 55 buck price tag

I honestly think that they incorporated because

they were worried that people were not gonna

want to buy the pilots Right right exactly know

that's what I'm saying is like like like fans

like me who love the show Who would you know

someone like me who would have bought the pilots?

Regardless of the Lions what I'm saying is have

the Lions be whatever their original price was

so 65 take 50 50 black line would have been 50

bucks right okay, and they're coming out with

these Every two months over the last year or

every every every other month or whatever the

hell the schedule is I don't know It was every

other month. Yeah, right exactly So for six months

or five months you had five lions Okay, if they

had packaged all the humans if they packaged

all the little you know three and three -quarter

inch figures into one giant box and said hey

here is Voltron team or here here are the Voltron

pilots. It's 55 bucks plus shipping for all six

figures Right, right. There you go buy them it'd

be fine and that way you could go back to every

other month spending 25 35 whatever the price

of the individual lions would have been right

I think that would have been a better way to

do it because including them and having the price

and and this again goes to what we did last time

when we talked about um uh the price increase

on masterpiece sound wave because of a little

fucking megatron gun i cannot stay i i just okay

i i understand the toy companies need to make

their money i totally get that i i completely

understand that but i'm sorry sell the shit separately

But especially with a team like Voltron, as I

just said, make it a giant box set, kind of like

what they did with the Christmas Ghostbusters

2 thing. You know, make it a gift set of the

figures that way. That was sold at retail, though.

I know. OK, but that's not that's not my point.

My point is to ease the cost of the lions to

the consumer. Yeah. Put the figures in their

own damn box set. I would agree. I would agree.

You know, I mean it's a It is it's it is what

it is. Um, yeah, unfortunately change it now.

You can't change it now. I would absolutely love

Sir seriously, I would love if I could be invited

to their headquarters to sit down And see the

thought process honestly that goes into this

and how they make the decisions because we're

sitting here You know playing Monday morning

quarterback Like you should have did it. Yeah,

you know, well, yeah, you should have did this

you should have did that blah blah blah blah,

but It's you know, I So, I mean I wonder if you

know if we went to Scott and we're like would

you have done it this way? If you but if who

if you would have said, you know like in hindsight

Now seeing it, you're absolutely right. I would

have loved to have done it this way instead of

the way that we actually did it. I would like

to see that. I would love to sit down and be

able to talk to him about this kind of stuff

because I'm genuinely curious how they come to

it because for me, it's kind of a common sense

sort of thing that, you know, I understand the

whole idea of the gimmick. It was a nice attempt.

I I do like that, you know, they they've said

for the longest time they're not gonna put gimmicks

in the the Master the universe classics line

I want I'm cure, you know mostly because you

know cost and You know just keep it keeping things

simple. I'd like to see what their thought process

was was like hey Let's make Voltron have a gimmick

and then have that gimmick be in complete reverse

order for what it's Designed to do I mean, I

mean there's just so much that I'd like to ask

them about it I'd like to be like when you when

you finally got your Voltron, I mean and by that

point time you probably were like Shit, well

He barely can stand but there's nothing we can

do now well, I mean I mean, didn't you get prototypes?

Did you get samples before mass production? of

these things that you could have gone back in

there and changed something. I just don't understand

it. And I have my Voltron right now in one of

my display cases. And the only reason why it's

standing, and I have it in a really good pose,

I personally think. If you guys follow me on

Facebook, or was it Twitter? I think maybe it

was Twitter that I posted my display case with

Voltron. It's a great pose. But the only reason

why it's in that pose is because I have his legs

or his feet kind of wedged down the bottom sides

of the actual case and it's balancing him because

of the case. That's the only way he's standing

up because of the case that I have him in. And

it sucks. It just totally sucks. I mean, it looks

great. It looks great. I mean, I'm turning around.

I'm looking at it. I love the way it looks. It's

so freaking cool. But I can't display, I can't

pose him. Well, I mean, I can't play with them.

And everybody, everybody, you know, as an adult

collector, you don't, you don't play with them

per se, but your, your play when you become an

adult collector, is no longer my, hey, you're

a bad guy. You don't do that. Your playing comes

in the form of posing. Posing, yeah. That's the

enjoyment that you get out of it. When you're

a kid, you're smacking them head to head and

you're having epic battles. Me, as an adult collector

and you said it to me, it's the posing of it

and having fun getting them in those dynamic,

cool looking poses. And you can't do that with

him. And again, this is supposed to be an adult

collectible. And you can't do what adult collectors

do with it. Yeah. I wouldn't pay the money for

that. There's just no way. Not even for the individual

lions. Because every time I saw your reviews

of the individual lions, I was like, I'm sorry.

Those things don't look. as sleek as what they

look like in the cartoon. Yeah, I agree and I'm

turning around, hopefully you can hear me still

pretty good. Yes. You know, honestly, in my honest

opinion, the best lion is the black lion. I love

the way that that guy looks. Yeah. It really

is very, very cool. I do really enjoy it. The

legs are, the blue and the yellow line are probably

the next best. Separately, separately. Not combined

as a whole. But again, this is a line that has

been plagued with quality control problems. Yeah,

I I can look right now and I I mean and a lot

of people have had problems with the green lion

That's the biggest one. I think the the hatch

For for Pidge, you know for the pilot it doesn't

it doesn't stay latched I not a lot of people

got very good ones of that that thing was like

assembled by retard retarded monkeys or something

and It's really obnoxious You know the the red

lion people have problems with it. Mine was assembled

wrong, where you can literally see the spring

is not put in there right. I mean, it's exposed

out of the socket that it's supposed to be in.

It's fucked up. I mean, bottom line. I don't

know if that's a widespread problem. I don't

think it is, but it's just mine. You know the

blue lion the blue line and yellow line. I don't

think I didn't have any problems with those I

know people had problems with some of the paint

that that's very very common problem with this

it is it is I mean and I showed that in my black

line video that it really looks like the paint

wasn't completely dried on a lot of these and

when they put it in to the package it's secured

on the clear package, so Mean that's that's that's

probably the most common problem that people

have with the paint issues and The the black

line I just think you know comes together and

is one of the you know best -looking But again

like I said you have all this gray Bits you know

his thighs are great. You know I mean the the

individual legs and all the lines are great But

then you have a very nice silver painted Voltron

face Yeah, I mean It just it doesn't make it

doesn't make any sense other than a cost cutting

measure It's cheap. It's cheaper to use a gray

paint as opposed to silver. I guess I I honestly

don't know you know and then I Mean God, I mean

the shield I've bitched about those stands those

stands are a fucking joke Yeah, you know I mean

I I modem I modem I I modified mine where that

actually fixes the problem. Right. And like I

said, in my Voltron review, I did not know that

there were two different size stands, one designed

specifically for the Blazing Sword, one designed

specifically for the regular version of the sword.

And luckily, you know, you got two of them when

you got the full thing. Right. The Blazing Sword

is the one that I want to have in his hand. So

the stand works perfectly for the regular one.

But, you know, my other stands for the Blazing

Sword, those are locked into position. And I

can't do anything with those. If you lock those

into position, you're stuck with them that way

unless you break them or completely warp them

and just really, again, bad design decision.

It's like they thought of the idea, but then

they didn't bother to fucking implement it. Then

see if it worked It's like hey Here's a let's

just jump to see there's no there's no testing

in between you know B's the testing phase and

they skipped that Yeah, apparently so I mean

So there you go ladies and gentlemen that was

our our matty rant on Club lion farce I'm sure

we'll be back in a couple of months whenever

Matic Collector does something else stupid. I

gotta see when this comes out. The hoverboard!

Oh, yeah. That's a piece of shit. Christmas time.

Collector. Hoverboard. Let me see when the release

date is this. When this is supposed to come out.

Oh, here we go updated available for pre -order

blah blah blah 120 dollars. Yeah, that's that's

another 120 bucks Great Scott film fans You pre

-order you get an exclusive scale to six -inch

action figure hoverboard They bet I they better

because they have the license for back to the

future They better not fucking make back to the

future figures that are stupid When does this

when does this come out? I think it's the end

of the year Okay, okay, okay, okay Pre -orders

are accepted from March 1st 2012 through March

27th 2012 only at mattycollector .com with an

expected shipping date of November slash December

2012 so we're in November, so it's got to be

December Yeah You know, and I remember them saying

something like, but it's not going to be guaranteed.

There's no guarantee that we're going to have

it by Christmas time. Yeah, I just don't think

Maddie Collector should do replicas. I just don't

think they should. Every replica I've seen outside

of the PKE meter has sucked. And you know this

because we went through that whole shit with

your ghost trail I know I know I mean some of

the I mean I If the ghost trap worked, I would

like it. I mean well mine, you know, I probably

would have liked it more I mean, it's fun, but

Yeah, I mean You know and then this is you know

the this yeah hundred and twenty dollars for

this is I got two of these pre -ordered Why one

for me one for my sister because we love back

to the future to that's probably I mean That's

though. That's our that's our favorite, you know

the back to the future trilogies and my sister

when she was a kid She would she was a big skateboarder.

She loves skateboarding And you know, the hoverboard

thing was just that that was her favorite thing

So, I mean I got last year. It's like I got her

one of those all Marty McFly back to the future

two hats Yeah, which I'm gonna have to get her

another one because her dog subsequently had

chewed it up and dish it So but she doesn't have

those dogs anymore, so I should be able to get

one But but yeah, I think next month we might

be able to bitch about the the hoverboard because

there had been a lot of I'm You know, and they

kind of like, you know, because this was, you

know, if you remember from the show or from the

movie, this was a Mattel product. So only we

could do it right. And you're not doing it right.

You dumb fucks. I mean, they got Bob Gale, the,

you know, the co -writer and producer of it,

you know, to come in and, you know, give his,

you know, whole blah, blah, blah. And they got,

you know, actual samples. from from them everything

I mean the whole day they had everything in place

to make the best prop replica ever now granted

the damn thing's not gonna hover I mean I don't

expect it to but that won't happen until 2015

it'll magically activate in 2015 which would

be fine you know but I mean it's just I mean

I don't know I I'm very I was very excited when

I first saw this So this is going to be something

that I'm going to be interested in keeping up

with and seeing how this comes together here

next week. Well, I'll have to see what happens

in December, then, because club lion farce don't

even people. No. If you're a fan of Ultron, this

is not for you, because as Paul has already said,

the quality control on it sucks all to hell.

The gimmick is dumb. It's the wow factor of the

size and that's that's really all it is and once

you get over that and Look at everything Through

once he takes a sip of alcohol and falls down

drunk. You'll be exactly exactly You don't need

he doesn't even need to take a sip of alcohol

But it's just once you get to pet like I said

once you get past the size And you actually look

at it from you know an objective standpoint It

is not worth it. It really isn't. And you see

the ridiculous freaking prices that it's going

for on eBay? Oh, people, stay away. Don't drink

Kool -Aid. Kool -Aid is bad. They're not putting

sugar in that. They're putting LSD. Stay away

from it. This is plastic crack at its worst.
