About this Episode

The team discusses recent episodes of Collection Intervention and Toy Hunter. They analyze the efficacy of the intervention format on Collection Intervention, debating whether it serves as a helpful tool for collectors or a mislabeled exercise in drama. They also share their perspectives on Jordan Hembrough's search for vintage items in Toy Hunter, specifically touching on the rarity of Jurassic Park prototypes and questions regarding the authenticity of the show's staging.

Jack Darby here, and when I'm not taking rides

with RC, I like watching video reviews from up

to bottom us. Welcome to the team bottomless

hour and joining me is up to bottomless. Hello.

What's up? Transformer fans. Sorry. I did it

a little bit differently. So many bad impressions.

I know. Even the actual real impression is a

bad impression. And of course, Darth Devious

is here. Greetings and salutations. Megatron.

What the hell was that? That was a good one.

Yeah. And I am TF2 and Mike. Slimeblower Bob

is stuck planking himself at work, so he could

not be here for this week's episode of Team Bottomless.

Planking is so, so June of 2012, my friend. What

happened to Owling? Oh no, that's way, that's,

shit, that never caught on. That's retro. That's

right. Yeah, that's very retro. Hi everybody.

We're weird. Yes. Well, they're weird. I Everybody

So we are here and as always we're gonna be talking

about what nothing Intervention and toy hunter

toy hunter came back this week not sure when

the hell i'll have to look it up when we get

to it i don't know when it's coming back after

this week's episode so yeah that's pretty much

it we're gonna get right into it up next i have

a question for you guys because when i when i

saw this on tv this is about collection intervention

don't worry i didn't actually see this on on

my channel but was there two new episodes this

week Because I got to I got two new episodes

downloaded onto my iTunes because I have the

season thing so I have two episodes Does your

Does your your second episode is that episode

6 yabba -dabba -doo? Yeah, we have yet. You have

a David on it didn't air What happened was it

won't air into oh wait no wait a second Was there

three wait a minute? No, I only got two, but

it's weird because some people were saying that

it's... Maybe there was two. See, I didn't realize

it. Oh, shit. I didn't even see this. What was

the... Yeah, you're gonna have to walk us through

the second episode because I didn't even see

it. Yeah, neither did I. It wasn't on. It wasn't

on. I mean, I remember looking at it and watching.

Now, I know JT Mitchell mentioned it because

episode six, the Abba Dabba Don't, he said is

the season finale. Yeah, that would not surprise

me because of the simple fact that networks like

A &E and AMC and those types of cable networks

that have even USA and TNT, if they want to pick

something up, they'll pick it up for a little

mini season kind of deal, and they'll see what

it does. And if it does good, they'll bring it

back for a full season the next year. That makes

sense. You know, so that way they're not wasting,

I mean, they're not wasting so much money on

something. Right. May or may not do well. Understandable.

I mean, I just was really kind of caught off

by it because, like I said, I watched the first

episode. Right. What? No more. Arigato, Mr. Roboto.

That's episode five. That's what aired this week.

And then after that, On my channel guide, it

showed another episode, but it was an older one.

So I didn't even bother watching it. But then

I remember, because now you gotta remember, I'm

on a delay. You guys see this earlier than I

do. I don't get to see mine until like 10 o 'clock

at night. So J .T. Mitchell, who's on the East

Coast, he watched this and then he said something

about it being the season finale. And I'm like...

That's kind of that's kind of weird, you know,

and I didn't think anything of it So I watched

the you know, no more our got though. Mr. Roboto

episode and I was you know, happy with it and

then the next day I Checked my iTunes and then

I had a second one on here and I was completely

confused by it So I when is this one supposed

to air is this supposed to be on next week or

according to? According to TV .com, they both

aired on the 11th, but there's no ratings for

Yabba Dabba Don't. Like, if you look at... I'll

show you guys the link in the... No, I mean,

that makes sense. What I'm saying is, if you

look at TV .com's website, where the episodes

that have already aired, you see the green like

8 .3 or 7 .5, and the ones where it's gray, it's

like... Well, maybe this hasn't aired yet. It

says 9 11 12, but sometimes their dates can be

wrong You know just depending so I don't know

maybe it and that's the other thing a lot of

No, I could get a hold of it if I needed to Yeah

It's apparently so it aired somewhere cuz some

people have it Yeah some people saw and then

like I said when I look at cuz I watch it on

my Apple TV and the Apple TV it actually shows

Like in the little description for each episode

and stuff, it says the original air date. And

both of them do say September 11th. But it wasn't

on for me. So I mean, some people got it. I know

I didn't. We'll talk about the one episode this

week. And then we'll play catch up depending

on what's going on with it next week. I don't

know. Because I didn't even get to see it. So.

Yeah. Well, the yabba -dabba dome was actually

that was actually a pretty good one. I yeah I

mean that one that one I had a lot of stuff that

I wanted to kind of bitch about so we'll wait

till next week for me I got enough to bitch about

with the this week He has 30 ,000 comics in our

home. There's nowhere in this house where there's

no Star Wars. Now might be the time to sell.

We just need more space. This is about new doors,

new life. You know, no one says you can't collect

anymore. The goal is for you to live in your

house with your beautiful collection, but for

there to be room. Collection Intervention premieres

Tuesday, August 14th at 10, part of Syfy's Tuesday

Night Originals. No, I don't care what you say.

I am not gonna... Oh. Sorry. Alrighty, then.

Collection Intervention, episode five. No more

arigato, Mr. Roboto. And then seeks help for

his issues collecting Japanese robots, while

Richard Hatch, a cast member from the original

1970 show Battlestar Galactica, joins fans as

they collect show memorabilia. That's not exactly

what happened, TV .com. You're twisting what

happened. But anyway. Episode twisted what happened?

Well for me episode 5 of collection intervention

The robot dude it was alright, I guess I didn't

really have any Any I don't this episode is probably

the first episode of this of the series run that

I didn't really have too many major gripes about

it the whole Richard hatch thing and the whole

you know that you know that guy I forget what

the guy's name is Just about a star dude. Yeah.

Yeah, the whole thing with the Battlestar dude

was you know He was really reluctant at first

and then you know You know is what it's the show

format as far as being reluctant and being like

no, I don't want to sell anything But what I

liked about it was that his wife You know, as

mean as she was about, you know, oh, we can't

put him in the house, blah, blah, blah. You know,

as much as she didn't really understand and didn't

care about his collecting habits, I do like that

it was her idea at the end to have him display

this stuff at his store. And it made a lot of

sense to me. So I didn't really have too many

issues with this. I know Kevin. Kevin's got issues.

Kevin sounds like he's got some. So Kevin, talk

to us, my friend. What is your problem? All right,

let's go to the robot guy first cuz this problem

with him Because you know when Elise walked in

she loved how he had everything on display. Yeah

That was great, you know that because you know,

she appreciate it and You go to his garage. Yeah,

his garage was over full, but the thing is it's

a freaking garage It's it's not he doesn't have

it in his house. Like so many people have had

he's not tripping over the boxes in his house

Right a garage is basically a storage area whether

you're storing your car in there or whatever.

It's your personal storage area Nobody has the

right to tell you what you have in your garage

I mean that I could see he Yeah, he needed to

make an inventory. He didn't even know what he

had and and that was great They went with him

and they she helped him make an inventory, but

he didn't have to get rid of anything right he

just inventory so he could have it, you know

insured and That's fine The other guy though

with the Battlestar Galactica stuff. I wanted

to punch his wife Because that's another thing

all his stuff was also in the fucking garage

Okay, it was not in the house. So there was backstory

to that that we never got because She did not

marry him Before he collected all that crap Obviously

she knew he had it to begin with and she probably

put her foot down at some point in time in their

relationship You are not putting any of this

goddamn crap in my house. You will leave it in

the garage and that is where it's gonna stay

You don't see this but Or that came across her

face when Elise suggested displaying the Battlestar

Galactica stuff in the house Confirmed that for

me She did not want it out there where and then

and then I loved her line where she's like It's

like this intervention got flipped on me Because

it's four guys relegated to the garage with all

his stuff He's got if he had been displaying

the Battlestar stuff the stuff that was stored

in the garage would not be that bad So it's her

fault that the garage looks that way. It's not

his That's I mean I'm watching this I'm just

like this woman. She's bitching about his collection,

but she caused this problem Because she won't

let him display it Well now I mean in all fairness.

He did have a shit ton of stuff Yeah, I mean

he had a ton of stuff which would have taken

up a considerable amount of space Yeah in their

place, but yeah, I mean I agree that it's She

she wish I'm kind of on the fence with the late.

I mean when it comes to the you know the the

significant others in these shows It's it's kind

of like a like a double -edged sword you kind

of feel for them But you see that you know especially

in this episode you like Kevin was saying She

really kind of brings it on herself. I Mean this

is the way that the dude is He didn't come into

this like Kevin said he this was not something

that he developed You know during the time when

they're married this was already a well established

collection and now I don't know it was it was

just really kind of she just wanted it out of

their dwelling so it's like hey let's put it

at their their at the comic shop and let's just

leave it there now it's gone and we don't have

to worry about it so yeah so in the end she won

oh yeah yeah she I mean He didn't, like you said,

he didn't have to sell anything. Well, he did.

Well, then he did sell some stuff, didn't he?

He sold a couple boxes of things, but it was

stuff that he wasn't really too attached to.

I mean, the crux of his collection was the Battlestar

stuff. Right. Oh, yeah, yeah. I mean, because

they're going through and, you know, they were

finding Star Trek stuff. I mean, you could see

other stuff that he had in there that really,

you know, was not Battlestar. oriented you know

so I mean I can understand selling that kind

of stuff and I do like what Elise brings to this

that people that collect should have kind of

a focus and that makes total sense now my focus

is kind of all over the place I don't I mean

my I guess my main focus would be you know looking

around my room Transformers isn't that hell of

a lot In terms of stuff that I have, I mean,

it's... So I have different interests and stuff,

but... Your collection is very 80s based. You

gotta look at it that way. Yeah, there you go,

there you go. That's a good way of looking at

it, you know. But I like how she brings the focus

to it. I don't like how... Now, and here's part

of the problem with me seeing two episodes trying

to talk about one. I'm trying to, in my mind,

separate these. Were there any times? I'm trying

I think maybe with the robot guy were there any

times were like the psychologist came into this

yeah Yeah, John guy. I don't like John John I

want to John I want to punch in the face We saw

him with I think it was how we couple episodes

ago This guy just does not come across very well

to a lot of people and next week when we talk

about the yabba -dabba Don't you're gonna see

that as well Because he comes back, the therapist

John comes back, and he doesn't go over too well

again. He's a bad therapist. The problem with

bringing in a therapist is these people don't

think they need therapy. And yes, you can make

the argument that, you know, well, this is an

intervention zone. People that, you know, have

interventions don't think that they need to have

interventions, blah, blah, blah. But you're already

coming at them, and they're already defensive.

So now you bring in a dude who's going to sit

there and try to nitpick, you know, and kind

of psychoanalyze you and try to figure out what

your problem is, and that's just going to piss

people off more. And I don't appreciate that.

They really kind of... And again, we'll get into

this next week, and it's hard for me to keep

it separate because I really want to talk about

next week's... Because, I mean, and you'll see

it, you know, so everybody who's listening now,

be sure to tune in next week when we talk about

the Abba Dabba Don't. Now, the thing is, there's

my little plug right there. You like that? You

see how that works? I worked that in there. You

know, when you bring these therapists in, they

sit there and they want to try and, you know,

analyze this stuff. And that's really what I

think that this show should be. These people,

not necessarily so much in this episode. Because

you could see that their collections were important

to them. They had some good collection stuff

not a lot of filler crap and Especially in the

case with the robot guy. I thought he had the

stuff nicely displayed He had a shit ton of stuff,

which if he really wanted to he could do a little

rotation I think you know maybe put some stuff

in storage Rotate some stuff out bring out some

stuff every now and then so that you are kind

of Revisiting that stuff and enjoying it when

it's in storage for a while so that when you

put it in your display You're enjoying it again.

He could do that and make his his little display

area look a little less cluttered Yeah, but I

don't really think either of these guys had the

mass massive amount of psychological problems

that we've seen in previous episodes So this

one really I thought was was probably honestly

the best collection intervention episode that

we've gotten yeah you know in terms of their

collection and looking at it from that aspect

maybe it should be called collection perspective

instead of collection intervention name we have

renamed the show five different times but see

the thing is that well the reason why I say that

is because I don't think even Even some of the

ones that probably do need therapy, I don't think

that should be an ambush that you do on TV, especially

with toy collectors. I think if you appeal to

our fandom, like in the case of this week with

the Battlestar guy, they brought in Richard Hatch.

Or a couple weeks ago when they brought in the

guys, the Kamba guy, one of his favorite writers.

And Richard Hatch sat there and said, hey, maybe

you need a little bit of perspective here. Maybe

you dial it back on some of this. You know what

I liked about the Richard Hatch angle that came

in was he came in and he's like, dude, you got

some really good stuff in here. But look at how

it's just piled here. He's like, you can enjoy

this. It's good stuff. And you just got it laying

here. Like I said, that was the wife's fault.

That was the wife's fault. Oh no, you're absolutely

right. You're absolutely right. I mean, I think

when we look at this, the word intervention is

a bad word to have because never once in anything

that we've seen, and for me now, six episodes,

there has not been an actual intervention. They're

grossly misusing that word. These aren't interventions.

They're reeducations. That's really kind of is

that that's really kind of what it is, you know,

so this should be collection reeducation I mean,

that's what they're teaching you that she comes

in here and she wants to teach you how to Focus

your collection. That's not an intervention.

That's collection refocusing is Really? I mean,

that's really I mean there it is We've renamed

it like another eight times or something But

there's no intervention in any of these and they

put that word in there to kind of hype up the

drama Aspect of it and television it's for television.

We've seen it with Sean Yeah, you know that they

just put out. You know, what's gonna look good

You know in terms of drama what's gonna grab

you and that's perfectly fine. It's television.

I understand it I live in hollywood and I live

in the LA area. I understand how this brand -new

Thundercats Thunder take a hundred and something

dollars on eBay Those are a hundred two hundred

twenty dollars this good shit. Here's a picture

of the Brandon yeah, I totally agree. You know,

but so meanwhile, it's on clearance for 20 bucks

at Walmart I got one sitting in my closet right

now. I'll sell it to anybody for $10 if they

want the damn thing. I mean, it's just These

aren't interventions and and they grossly mislead

you when you go in here and you watch the show

and she tries to Re -educate you like Kevin said

and I appreciate that But when she comes in and

then they try to bring in, you know, they try

to bring in the intervention aspect and they

try and bring in the, you know, the psychological

aspects. And again, you'll see this more in next

week's episode where there are serious psychological

issues with the majority of these people. This

episode, not so much. Honestly, like I said,

this is probably the best episode that gives

us a... Kind of honest look at a collection refocusing

Sort of show that I think that is the initial

point of it, but everything else is just Bullstick

Mm -hmm there Any other thoughts on this week's

collection intervention Well, it was nice to

see Elise not like, you know beat somebody down

for how they collect like she did with um, the

guy with the robots because She really liked

his stuff and she didn't want him to get rid

of anything. She just wanted to Get it and that

organized in a way that he knew what he had.

Yeah, and that's That's why you know, I think

that angle on the show I you know that that's

what I guess I think i'm saying this show doesn't

have a real defined identity We don't know what

the fuck we're supposed to be getting with this

show. Is this an intervention? No. Is this, you

know, a site, you know, a show kind of, you know,

showing off collections? Yes, but no. I mean,

there isn't a focus on this, and this episode

seemed a little bit more focused. I loved how

she came in with the robot dude, and it's like...

And again, this episode and next week's episode,

I've never heard anybody, she's never said this

before, we've gotten four episodes before, and

she specifically is like, you need to inventory

this stuff and get it insured. She hasn't brought

that up before. These are the first times that

we've heard her kind of, so that's why I was

saying, there's no identity. Just like in Toy

Hunters, all of a sudden, we get this home base

chick who calls up and she's telling Jordan about

these leads and we've never seen her again. There's

no identity with some of this stuff. And when

we're watching it, we almost... Now, we're collectors,

so we come at this with a different kind of angle.

If you're just somebody that's watching this,

you don't know what the fuck this show's supposed

to be. It's collection intervention. Where's

the intervention people? Where's the family surrounding

them that's supposed to be, you know, sending

them off to rehab? Oh my god. Oh my god. An afterthought

to this show. Uh -oh. These producers need to

go to VH1 and Dr. Drew Collection Rehab. Oh,

my god. Collection Rehab. That would be awesome.

I'd go for that. But I mean, so like I said,

I mean, a lot of these shows, so far I'm not

seeing much of an identity. And that kind of

leads in to the toy hunter thing. Yeah, we'll

get to that here in a second. It just seems all

over the place. And this episode was a little

bit more focused. I liked it. I like when you

have a nice collection. Hold on. When you have

a nice collection that is nice, you should inventory

it. You should get it insured because you never

know what happens. Now the robot dude, he wanted

this to be his fourth mistake. That's a big thing.

I mean, I don't have a nest egg like that, but

the stuff in my room, I have it inventoried just

in case. You never know. You never know. Yep.

I think as CI is going on and going on and going

on so far, it's getting better. It's finding

different ways to point stuff out to people.

I know it's going against the style of the show,

but I think if they take out the the therapist

part of it and just at least with the people

that have specific collections like the Battlestar

guy and bring in someone from that franchise

to say hey I'm a huge fan of you and you know

just talk to them that way versus trying to force

therapy down people's throats I think that would

be better in some cases. I mean we've dropped

this name before that the show should be like

you know toy hoarders yeah that you know and

again if you look at all the you know the the

previous four episodes this could be called toy

hoarding yeah it could be that's that's really

that's really kind of what it should be now this

episode comes along and this is a little bit

more of an intervention you come in and be like

whoa wait a minute you got all this great stuff

we got to do something with this we got to protect

this you know you don't understand what damage

you can actually do to this stuff So here's a

little I mean this one has a little bit more

intervention I guess than anything else, but

the other stuff just hoarding That's all it is

it's hoarding and they put it around toys and

stuff and that and I think Bob's touched on this

before that it gives a bad impression of Yeah,

it's not it gives an accurate. You know depiction

of how hoarders are but not all Collectors are

hoarders. That's a very Minor thing. Yeah, I

think I think the two people they so showed this

week were more Collectors than hoarders. Yeah,

I mean like the robot dude I mean perfect example

when they're going through inventorying this

stuff and at least is like how much stuff do

you see or how many robots you think you have

in here and she's like and he's like about 2000

and she's like, yeah, there's like 2246 or something,

you know, she's like, you know what you have.

He knows what he has. He's a collector That's

what it was and that's why I think this one is

a much nicer look at a collection intervention

Than what we got before and that's where I was

kind of going with this show doesn't have an

identity It's kind of all over the place right

now And I hope I hope they fix that because I

think it could be a good show. Yeah Well, like

I said my biggest problem with this week's episode

was both the robot guys friend The other guy's

wife were complaining because of how the collections

were in the garage now The guy it's his garage

Do you go do you go spend time in somebody's

garage just hanging out? On a normal if you go

to somebody's house, are you gonna spend time

in their living room? Are you gonna spend time

in their garage? Hey, come on over hang out in

my garage. I mean seriously Yeah, okay, but I

could see I could see the friend making the argument

of the fact that That's all he does is he's out

in that garage and he doesn't interact with people

kind of, you know Honestly as much as I hate

to be introspective here But kind of like me

where I don't go outside my apartment unless

I absolutely have to you know what I mean? So

it needs an intervention. Shut the hell up. I'm

calling Elise. I'm gonna tweet her right now

Buy me a plane ticket. I'll come out to your

house and you can intervention me into me all

you want I maybe I can actually get my prize

then anyway I'm tweeting to Elise that you need

an intervention. No, I do not. I will kick your

ass. I'm doing it right now. What collection?

I have no... Anyway, yeah, no. This week's episode

out of the five total episodes that have actually

aired on television, not ones that have been

leaked online... They weren't leaked! Whatever

No, wait a second. I said they were leaked online

and what I meant was leaked to like iTunes and

stuff where it's you know And sometimes they

do that kind of stuff where it'll be like, oh,

hey check out this, you know, cuz I've seen I

know I know I know stuff But anyway, yeah, no,

it's not like I'm accusing you of downloading

illegal stuff like transformers prime episodes

whoops That's I still don't do that. I I haven't

seen the past two episodes And I'm trying not

to miss this week's episode. Alright, so we're

gonna move on to Toy Hunter. Yeah, otherwise

I'm gonna miss this week's episode. Hey, remember

when you lit your toys on fire? Or how about

when you launched your spaceships out the window?

Awesome. Well, it might not be so awesome after

you watch Toy Hunter. They could be worth big

bucks. Meet Jordan Hembrough. Buying and selling

vintage toys is his business. $17 ,000. These

may be toys, but this isn't child's play. Toy

Hunter, a new series. All right, we're going

to close out talking about Toy Hunter, episode

five, prehistoric Pennsylvania. Jordan goes to

look for old toys in... quote -unquote the Midwest.

Some of the vintage toys he finds include an

original strawberry shortcake doll and a Flintstones

game. What TV .com doesn't also say is that it

also includes a bunch of Jurassic Park prototype

toys. They're just taunting me with this shit

now. Well, the thing here is, and I've heard

several people talk about the Jurassic Park toys,

specifically my friends over at ThisWeekInGeek

.net, Mike and Laura over at the Untitled Mike

and Laura project, they've talked about it at

length that the Jurassic Park toys are so hard

to find at this point. They are. Not even prototypes,

just the figures in general. Just the toys, just

the regular release toys. They are probably the

single most rare thing in toy history at this

point when it comes to An actual toy line just

not being available anywhere on secondary market

Yeah, it's what's amazing about it. I mean I

have tried buying some yeah, what's what's incredible

is that These toys really didn't fly off the

shelves. I mean they really I don't want to call

them peg warmers Right there just wasn't a lot

of interest in them when when they first came

out now You know dinosaur. I mean kids love dinosaurs.

That's just And you know when you're a boy and

you're young almost every boy loves dinosaurs

for a little while Yeah, these toys though just

for some reason really didn't grab people all

that much and I love I love dinosaurs I always

have and I never really got them. I have one

still to this day I have a velociraptor, but

I I've gone back and I've tried finding some

of these and They're out there. They're on eBay,

but they're expensive as crap And now in this

episode of toy hunter we saw Jordan fine and

We've kind of touched on this a little bit both,

you know before and I really did get the impression

that it was staged Just because he's like, oh

look what I found really I know now granted if

I'm not mistaken the guy was hanging out with

a dude who used to work for Kenner Yeah So he

probably knows stuff, he probably knows people,

and you know, it's possible that it gets staged.

I don't know, but I know that it's television

and I know that stuff gets staged all the time.

So that's kind of weird, but I mean, what I thought

was really kind of derpy was Jordan then takes

these to these collectors and... Just dropped.

I think it was $7 ,000. Yeah on a whole lot of

these prototype figures Yeah, now they had a

very impressive Jurassic Park collection. I'm

just looking at this like really $7 ,000 for

prototype figures now the prototype figures are

one thing but they also had a prototype figure

in there of the Trike their triceratops that

was never produced Yeah, which ended up bumping

the price like another like $3 ,000 when Jordan

brought it out and I'm like Wow, okay. I mean

you never produced it. That's fine I understand

that but that just seems insane that that goes

for that much money and then you see all these

things I mean they brought out a not a I mean

he was mint and box but the box wasn't all that

mint of a Teddy Rux spin Yeah, what did he pay

like 20 bucks? Yeah It was Teddy and Grubby.

I think it was like 30 bucks for the pair. For

the pair or something like that. And he said

he wanted to turn around and flip them for like

50 each. And I'm like, OK, that's interesting.

I go on and look on eBay, and they're going for

like 100 each. I'm like, ah. Because I was like,

you know what? I could go for a Teddy Rock Spin.

I liked that when I was a kid. I think it's cool.

So, I mean, that's one thing. I see the stuff

on there and then I go on eBay and I'm like,

oh, look at that. Oh, never mind. You know, so

it's a, it's, it's, it's. I enjoy the show. I

know the guys over at, um, um. Toy World Order.

Toy World Order. I always forget it. And I feel

like such a douche because I'm going to be working

with several of them for a little upcoming skip

thing that we're doing here in LA. But, uh, yeah,

I know, I know they know Jordan and. uh you know

that's all well and good and everything but it

just i don't know i i really have a hard time

getting into that show because it really is like

toy american pickers yeah and when i watch it

i just really get a sense there's sometimes that

like when i'm watching american pickers i don't

really get much of a sense that it's staged uh

although it probably is but they they probably

do a better job of hiding it But a lot of the

stuff that we're seeing on Toy Hunters, it just

seems staged with some stuff. You know, the whole

Jurassic Park thing. I mean, I immediately think

back to the pilot episode where they were trying

to sell the Boba Fett at Indio Comic -Con. That

seemed ridiculously staged to me. As much as

I like seeing people's collections on on toy

hunter I do enjoy that aspect of it and I do

enjoy seeing some of the stuff Jordan finds I

just think toy hunter needs to be relegated to

a Convention like him like the pilot when he

worked up, you know He spent all this time going

to all these different places to work up to go

to New York Comic Con and and and sell this stuff

problem with that is there's only so many conventions

a year. I know. But that's what I'm saying. Instead

of a weekly series, it needs to be like a yearly

special, is what I think. I don't know. If you

spread it out that far, people are going to lose

interest. People are already losing interest.

I don't see the ratings going up. I mean, I am

curious to see what the ratings. are on these.

Maybe we should look that up for next time to

see. Well, I mean, because it's on cable television,

it doesn't necessarily fall under the same sort

of ratings scheme as network television, right?

Yeah, a little bit. They don't get the Nielsen

ratings or whatever, do they? I don't know how

that actually works. I don't know how that works.

I honestly can't speak to that. The thing about

Toy Hunter is, first of all, You know Jordan

himself pimps it out. It is his show I don't

follow Travel Channel on on Twitter or anything

like that So I don't know what Travel Channel

is doing to promote the show All as I know is

it's if you don't catch it as it airs It's very

rare that you'll be able to catch a new episode

like any time before the next week because I

A couple weeks ago, I spent maybe two hours on

tvguide .com going through a week's worth of

travel channel programming just to see if it

would re -air the older episodes, and it didn't.

It's like, why are they not promoting this more

than ... Why are they giving less promotion to

this more than other things, like Man vs. Food

or whatever else they have on their stupid channel?

Man vs. Food is a good show. The thing about

Toy Hunter is, and Travel Channel, I tweeted

Travel Channel the other day. I said, hey, why

don't you guys make the Toy Hunter episodes available

streaming online like every other network, even

every other cable network does? I mean, most

cable networks have full episodes online. Well,

yeah. I mean, they don't even offer it on iTunes

yet. No. No? Yeah. And Collection Intervention

has it on. Has it on iTunes already. So yeah,

I Mean, I don't know. I just I don't see a lot

of publicity with it. Hey Jordan You should because

you own a toy store. You should hook up with

me and we should do some stuff You should send

me stuff and I'll I'll be nice to you Nice try

I know although although I have thought about

talking to the guys at toy world order and having

them Having him contact me and have him find

some shit for me at good prices. Hey, hook me

up, Jordan! Alright, so we are gonna go to a

brief commercial break and then we're gonna come

back to close the show. And when you download

It's Stitcher Smart Radio. Don't forget to enter

promo code KEYCASTRADIO when you register. So

we are back, and yeah, we're gonna do something

a little different in the outro here. We're gonna

talk about Transformers, holy crap. A couple

weeks ago... Well, first of all, Transformers

4 has a logo now, apparently. Michael Bay has

said that the fourth film will be his last and

the budget will be lower than the previous films

But we should avoid calling the fourth a reboot.

It's not a reboot. It's maybe wrong word He said

I don't want to say reboot because then people

will think we're doing spider -man and start

from the beginning. We're not There's nothing

wrong with spider -man you dumbass We're taking

the story that you've seen the story We've told

in three movies already, and we're taking it

to a new direction But we're leaving those three

as as history it still counts now the point of

this article here is the fact that The dark of

the moon line pretty much actually overall the

movie line itself the entire movie line for all

three films It's been nothing but bumblebee repaints

You know, yeah. Yes. We've had jazz is yes. We've

got shockwaves. Yes. We've got optimuses, but

it's you know Because they want to market the

kids. It's bumblebee everywhere The sea of yellow.

Yes, let's be a piss So and and you know That

article pretty much is Hasbro saying we weren't

happy with the sales of the Dark of the Moon

toy line Well dumbasses you you you put out 8

,000 bumblebees for every other figure that came

out You screwed up distribution everywhere. So

the figures that we wanted were never in the

stores or they got cancelled flat out Yeah, and

because it got screwed up You also screwed up

the first edition figures for people and so now

you have to put them back out again this this

winter You know you're gonna put out crap people

are not gonna buy it and That's what it came

down to that's the it wasn't that people did

not like the characters in Dark of the Moon But

the corresponding toys were garbage compared

to the ones that came out for Revenge of the

Fallen. I Think Hasbro's whole problem is is

that they OK, the easiest one I can think of

to compare to is TFA Rodimus. TFA Rodimus was

so short packed. Hell, TFA RC was short packed.

That has nothing to do with short packing. That

has everything to do with the fact that those

were Toys R Us exclusive figures. No, but what

I'm saying is, yes, I understand that those are

store exclusives, but what I'm saying is, I would

walk into the Toys R Us and I would see, if I

ever saw, a Rodimus, and I would see one RC and

a C of those ratchets that came out of that.

You know what I mean? It's like, they put more

stock into one character versus another. That's

the point I'm trying to make here. Nobody gives

a shit about Skids and Mudflap. Nobody wants

the millionth reb - repaint of the same damn

bumblebee car. Well, the Skids and Mudflap, again,

I'll play devil's advocate with you. Dark of

the Moon, initially, we've seen it, was going

to have Skids and Mudflap in the movie. So they

produced the toy. And then they got cut out of

the movie. Now that has, I mean, that's not Hasbro's

fault. That's Michael Bay, that's the producers

that decided to cut those characters out. That's

fine. The problem is Hasbro already invested

a lot of money in creating those, so they're

like, fuck it, we're gonna put those toys out.

And they're right to do so. I mean, if you spend

that much money, it costs a lot of money to create

molds for toys. I don't understand that. You're

talking millions of dollars. to create a toy

that they gotta recuperate. I mean, that's why

that happens. Now, I'm not going to argue with

anybody about the bumblebees. There's a shit

ton of bumblebees. I would, and the only thing

that I would combat that with is that kids like

bumblebees. But here's the problem. Kids also

have very short attention spans. After so long,

they no longer care about bumblebee. So they

don't want it anymore, and they don't care about

the other toys, so those ones aren't going to

sell. Now, what happens with that is that Hasbro

puts eight Bumblebees in a box of ten, you know,

and you have Optimus Prime and you have Ratchet

and another, you know, the other ones. But those

ones go first leaving just a bunch of Bumblebees.

And the kids don't want to buy Bumblebees anymore,

so now all you have on yourself is Bumblebee.

And the other stuff is going to sell out like...

But you want to believe, to a pack of rabidest

dogs, that when you see it, they're just going

to scoop them up. I mean, that's part of what

the problem is. Sure, they loved Bumblebee at

first. There was no problem putting up Bumblebee

toys more than anything else, because they were

selling. Now, they're not selling. And collectors

don't want them. They want the other stuff. Well,

that stuff disappears before anything else. So

all you're left with is a sea of yellow on the

pegs in your local Toys R Us, Walmart, Target,

whatever. Yep. That's my point, dammit! Dammit,

that's your point. And we're gonna close the

show. We'll be back next week. I have to wait

and see if I see any ads for Toy Hunter. We will

most definitely be reviewing the latest episode

of Collection Revention next week, so... Hopefully

we'll see you then and hopefully Bob can be back

when he's not, you know, corroding his car with

salt water and everything else. Which would be

kind of hard since he lives nowhere near an ocean.

For the Team Bottomless Hour, I am TF2 and Mike

with... I don't know! Me! I'm Bottomless! Hey!

I don't know! Woo! And me, Darth Devious, if

I can get a word in edgewise. I'll let you. It's

a hard one. All right. We will see you next week,

folks.
