About this Episode

The hosts and guest CountMarzo debate the logistics, customer service, and distribution models of Mattel and Hasbro. The discussion covers the frustrations of using MattyCollector, the challenges of securing San Diego Comic-Con exclusives, and the merits of secondary retailers like Big Bad Toy Store. They also share personal experiences with order mishaps, shipping delays, and the hobby of collecting figures.

Hey everybody, Bumblebee here, and you're watching

Optabottoman. Welcome to the Team Bottomless

Variety Hour. This will be episode 24, so I have

no idea how the hell we're going to follow this

up with episode 25. I was at some point going

to make this episode 25 and just force Paul to

do a mini episode for 24 at some point, but,

eh, fuck it, I don't feel like doing all that

fucking work. This is the Team Bottomless Variety

Hour. I have with me Optobotomous. Hello, sir.

Hi. Hi. Hi. Hello. Hi. Hi. Hi. Yes. Shut up!

Hey! Hey Apple! Hey! Hey! Hey Apple! Hey! Hey

Mike! Hey Mike! Shut up! Damn it! I'm Piper.

I ate a - I ate a - Shut the fuck up! Oh my god.

Jesus. Did you knock yourself out or something?

No, I picked up my microphone and banged it against

my desk. Like this. Oh, I thought - I was kinda

hoping you were smashing your head against your

desk, but... Anyways, so, we also have with us,

for the first time here on Team Bottomless Variety

RN, for the first time on the GeekCast Radio

Network, we have from Twitter, CountMarzo, the

guy who, no matter what a certain toy company

does, will bend over and take a fuck you up the

ass. No matter what. Oh, Z and he's happy with

it too. Yeah, he likes that Mattel dick in his

hat. You're just very lucky that Scott Knightlick

is not a very large black man. Name Bubba. You

don't know who's under that Maddie mask. Who's

your daddy? Alright, so we are here for one reason.

Mattel versus Hasbro round one fight. Out the

bottom is sit on Twitter earlier in the week

that we should have more Did you say that I sat

on Twitter? No said on you said on Twitter. No

if you sat on Twitter that would that would be

dangerous Yeah, that would be dangerous. Oh,

it's um Up to bottom is said on Twitter earlier

in the week that way to you're supposed to enunciate

when you're on I did enunciate. I'm going to

fly to California and beat your fucking ass.

You don't have enough money to pay for the two

seats that your fat ass would require on an airplane.

I'll fly southwest. Let's not even go there.

Episode 106 of Smodcast. Everyone needs to go

listen to episode 106 of Smodcast because that

was one hell of a story. Anyways, we are here

to... throw the gauntlet down of Hasbro versus

Mattel because count Marzo is the biggest has

biggest Mattel apologist of all time It doesn't

out of it this company could commit illegal Crime,

I mean this company could commit fucking murder

and this dude would still like what they do.

I don't Probably would now I want to get something

straight Paul and I have been very vocal about

our disdain for Maddie collector comm and digital

river We have never said that we dislike Mattel

and the four horsemen We don't like the website

and the the digital river shit. That's what we

don't like the figures themselves are all well

and good, even though some of them come with

two left legs, two right legs, and swap shoulders

and all that. But that comes with the territory.

That comes with any toy. So this isn't about

the toys. For us, it's more so about the logistics

of it all. That's such a fancy word that gets

used a lot. You know, that's just how they term

it. So for us, it was never about, oh my god,

we hate these fucking toys. It's, oh my god,

we hate dealing with Abu from Uzbekistan or wherever

the fuck the customer service is based out of.

Abu? Whatever. What the fuck is Abu? So I'm sure

this show is going to have a lot of of shouting,

but it's like... People are not going to like

you at all after this show. I don't care. I know.

I don't care. I don't care either. Bring it.

So, Count Marzo over the past couple of weeks,

because this will go up the Monday after Comic

-Con weekend was over. This is going to go up

Monday, July 23rd. So, the weekend before it

was San Diego Comic -Con. and the monday was

the sixteenth where you know every every monday

maddie and and and hasbro toy shop put their

sdcc stuff up on their websites well count marzo

i believe and you can correct me if i'm wrong

in this he's like i must have derpy blah blah

blah and this all started because of derpy yes

Cocky pony man, that's what I wanted the most

from Hasbro. Hey dude, my little pony is Hasbro's

best reboot, so how about that? Try that on for

size. Transformers Prime is damn good, so shut

your mouth. He's just doing that debate, you

shut up. I know he is, you little bastard. So

yeah, this all started because of Derpy Hoos.

He wanted to Derpy Hoos because he is Devol Light.

Most Toy World Order and Pop Culture Network

fans will know what that means. Hey man, he's

got good taste, he's got good taste. Hey, I wanted

to buy a Derpy at Comic Con myself just because

it's hilarious, but yeah. That's why I want it.

The difference is though, you were there and

if you wanted to spend the time in line, you

could have done so. No, no I couldn't because

the time that I spent in line, or while I was

waiting in line, the thing sold out. Oh. You

know, okay. Well, apparently Count Morizo went

over to HasbroToyShop .com and I think they should

give me a dollar every time I say their website.

Same thing with, you know, I think Matty Collector

and Digital River each need to give me two dollars

a piece every time I give them free promotion.

So he went over to Hasbro website. Yes, exactly.

Well, hey, you know. Continue with your story.

Shut up. Continue with your story. Anyway. uh...

you know so he wanted to derpy he went over there

and uh... you know come find out there they're

sold out i probably would have bought a gem to

actually you know that's good about a hundred

twenty five dollars and all i'm sorry you're

fine i would have thought about it i would have

thought about it that's very well available for

longer than forty five seconds you know Oh, wait

a minute. We're really going to talk about length

of time that things are available. Hey. Hey.

We're going to get into that. We are going to

get into that. That's so three years ago, man.

Oh, totally. Sorry. OK. Sorry. Sorry. Doesn't

matter. It still happened. We're talking about

right now. That's right. We're in the here and

now. Here and now. So he wanted a Derpy. He couldn't

get one because it sold out. I wanted X -Force,

too. Oh, really? That wasn't going to last long

either. Now, the one thing I would like to point

out is something Paul pointed out on Twitter.

And it's something that a lot of people that

go to these websites don't realize, especially

with Mattel. Mattel holds shit back. They do.

They'll say, oh, well, we only have X amount

of Disco Skeletor. Disco Skeletor? It's a pop

culture network joke, popculturenetwork .com.

It's a whole joke with that Pixel Dan and that

crew over there and all that stuff. That's Dirk's

favorite. You know, we only have X amount of

this and once it's sold out, it's sold out forever.

But then, you know, mysteriously, oh, here's

Mad Maddie Monday and people are getting... You

know, Skeletor's and Keldor's and Whiplash's

and... and... terrible as the Molar. Molar, yeah.

The Molar SDCC exclusive 2 -pack. You know, so

they hold product back is my point here. Same

thing with Hasbro Toy Shop. I'm sure that they

will restock for sales at some point. So just

because you couldn't get it the day after the

convention doesn't mean you'll never get it through.

the official website of course if you choose

to you can pay you know the prices on ebay if

you want to now paul because now it's to hold

on hold on paul because he went to san diego

comic con kind of got a little bit better understanding

as to why some sellers sell the san diego comic

con exclusives for the prices they do because

of the fact that you're waiting in line for three

plus hours for whatever exclusives that you want

to get. I would just like to also say that we

waited in line for two hours so I could buy the

Maddie Collector Batman slash Bruce Wayne set

and that also sold out at the convention and

I was never able to get that. So now I have to

go on Monday to try and get it. Much like everybody

who wanted to do the Hasbro stuff has to do I'm

gonna have to try doing that and let's see how

successful I am at getting that Actually, you

know what you're from from what I was gathering

from a lot of people It wasn't even it wasn't

even really the what is it Vic bike bike grow?

What? What the hell is wrong bike around whatever

stupid piece of shit um? Whatever that didn't

that didn't to my knowledge. I don't think sold

out at the convention The only things that I

know of that sold out through Maddie was the

Bruce Wayne Batman and like that death figure

or something from Monster High or something like

that. That sold out on Friday. Friday I think

and they said that they were done. Now I'm sorry

this whole convention thing started on Thursday

and goes from Thursday to Sunday. You're completely

out of stock. like the second day there and you

still got two days left to go you're dumb fucks

but okay go ahead so go ahead Marzo tell your

side of the story yeah we'll let you we'll give

you the floor hey at least Mattel gives me a

date to mark my calendar to know when I want

to buy shitty ass vikron that's all I'm gonna

say when am I supposed to buy when am I supposed

to buy stuff from Hasbro while I'm not at my

computer exactly Well, okay. Okay, if you're

making that much of a generalization about Hasbro

You know exclusives not included go out to the

fucking store and look for shit in the stores

look for what Bumblebee Okay, I'll give you that

I can't I you know, we can't just not you know,

give you that one But still well, I would I would

combat that by saying that you know Bumblebee

is the kids Favorite that's the main character

that people you know that has more wants to sell

and it I don't see much of a difference between

that and Maddie collector keeping he man Going

for sale on Maddie collector comm all the time

now it took forever for him to do it Yeah, but

they they you know they keep the same main characters

out there mm -hmm I Just I think it's I You know

what I should have had I should have sat down

I had a whole bunch of good points. Ever since

we decided to start doing this, new things would

pop in my head and I'm like, ooh, that's good.

I need to remember to say that. And now you can't

think of a simple one. And now I can't remember

a damn thing. What the hell, dude? I had so many

good talking points, I just screwed up. Well,

you know, here's the thing, though. And I understand

why, but because of the fact that... Oh, I remember

one. Go ahead. Number one. Go ahead. These Hasbro

items are meant to be Comic -Con exclusives.

We're lucky that Hasbro decides that they even

want to put them out there for them. These are

leftover remaining stock items. These are things

that they constantly keep mass producing. Whereas

the Masters of the Universe Classic stuff, and

anything else through Maddie Collector I should

just say, not just Masters of the Universe Classes.

but maddie collector stuff that's that's their

primary way of trying to get this stuff out to

us exactly that's that's not that's not anything

spectacular so when they sell out that's like

that's like san diego comic -con saying okay

we're all out of you know brudicus we're out

for the remainder of the sailor the thing whatever

there's some in a warehouse 100 miles away But

they're not on their way here because we didn't

think we were going to need them. And so we're

just going to turn around and sell them whatever

we have left over. I mean, that's what Hasbro

basically is doing with this thing. So we're

lucky that Hasbro decides that they want to give

us stuff. Maddie Collector, this is their primary

mode of forcing or not. I'm not going to say

forcing. That's a terrible word. This is their

primary way of shilling these figures to us.

Well, you can say forcing, because I mean, really,

honestly, Mattel. Outside, you know, I'm not

I'm not counting Barbie and Hot Wheels because

obviously that crap is in stores so Outside of

those two lines Mattel is an online only toy

company. They are that's all that they are. Yes

I understand currently there is no Masters cartoon.

Okay, you in this day and age sadly Companies

believe that you need a cartoon on the air in

order to put stuff in stores, you know and Mattel

since 2008 since creating and I'm just gonna

go with Masters because it's what I know best

sadly You know since creating the classics line

has said hey, this is for adult collectors You

know well adult collectors Scavenged toy stores.

I mean I have to bottom this you know our other

friend ball matrix slimeblower Bob Pia, all these,

you know, Pixel Dan, Deval, well, not so much

Deval, he's more into, you know, My Little Pony

and all that girly toy crap. You know, all of

us, for the most part, with the exception of

me, because I've gotten out of toy collecting

thanks to Matty Scalper. All of us have. Alright,

I'm not even going to let you call him Matty

Scalper because they're not scalping anything.

Anyway, all of us have in the past. and currently

scavenge toy stores for toys that we want because

we are collectors we are not kids anymore some

of us may have children some of us may not you

know so it's like it's one of those things where

we as collectors will scavenge a toy store looking

for whatever you know toy that we want and this

whole thing with Mattel of oh it has to be online

only because no one's gonna buy our products

in stores Well, that's just bullshit I have one

I have one company that I would like to bring

up good that I would say if Maddie collector

thinks that they cannot sell Collector based

figures too. I would like to point them to this

company because I think they're rather successful

at doing it Yeah, and that would be NECA. They

do a fantastic job of creating collector style

figures at You know higher than You know regular

kids sort of prices. I mean they're they're adult

collector prices mm -hmm and They sell them through

Toys R Us and I think they do a pretty good job

I don't understand why Maddie collector can't

do it how long he's Maddie collector or Mattel

been trying to get the new Voltron toys out there

They specifically set a comic -con that they're

looking for retail partners. Why you should be

able to find them fairly easily Yeah, exactly

so count Marzo. I asked you this I asked I throw

this question to you, sir Why is it? you are

so So I'm not gonna say blindly, but I'm just

gonna ask you why you are so adamant in your

support for Maddie collector go That's how I

get my Masters of the universe. How else could

I do it? There's no other way if I have the way

that you know of yeah, if well, I'm not I don't

know I'm not gonna pay extra tip for anything.

I'm just gonna get it straight from the source

It's just the way it is but see that's the thing

and that's that's the biggest problem with your

argument because a Lot of people and I've pointed

this out many times in the last couple episodes

of team bottomless variety hour That that TMT

on Mike is gay, but continue OK, let's see here.

22 .55 is an edit point. All right, so I pointed

this out on Team Bottomless Variety Hour beforehand

that a lot of people, including Count Marzo,

and again, Marzo, you can correct me on this,

but I don't think a lot of people are counting

in the additional cost. They're looking at it

like, oh. Battle Armor He -Man, $20, sold. They're

not counting in the additional cost of shipping.

Or if you live in a state like Optimus does that

charges additional tax, they're just looking

at the New York. That's for sure. New York gets

taxed, yeah. Yeah, I get taxed in New York. I

know about his California tax. Oh, OK. Well,

all right. Well, if you're in a state that gets

additional sales, you know. I get taxed on the

figure and I get taxed on shipping and handling.

Do you get taxed on shipping and handling? Yeah,

I think that's fucking retarded, but go ahead.

I think that just started like a year or so ago

though. Yeah, because I actually called. It happened

out of nowhere. Yeah, I actually called Maddie

Collector. I'm like, hey, please explain this

to me because I know exactly how much the tax

rate is here in California where Maddie Collector's

headquarters is. So explain to me. What what

you're what what's being taxed because? The tax

percentage that you're using isn't even right

in the state of California and of course I was

talking to Macma Macma namadima job And he was

all like I don't know the tax that is coming

first of all number one I was talking to Macma

namadima job and I was asking, I said, explain

to me why I live in Huntington Beach, California,

which is about an hour from the shipping location

in California, Ontario, California. And I'm like,

explain to me why it goes all the way up to just

outside Reno, Nevada, which is like eight hours

from me, to come back down now nine hours. I'm

like, it doesn't make any sense. Why doesn't

it go directly from there to here? this is when

they switched to new new gistics or whatever

that company is and to handle their USPS shipping

and Mahmood Ahmadiyya says like what it must

come down from Canada and I'm like I'm like what

Canada you think yes Ontario Canada because he

saw Ontario CA he thought the CA was Canada I'm

like So it must go through customs to come down

to you, so it comes down from the north and goes

south That's it is what that is why it goes through

um. What's what's the name of the place? It's

not it's not actually Reno um Sparks, Nevada

Sparks, Nevada. Thank you. Yes, you know you

know about my shit sits there for a week sometimes

I'll agree with you the shipping is absolutely

retarded I'll agree with you. That's the worst

thing about my experience with It's pretty dumb,

but so I'm sitting here. Slow as hell, it sucks.

It goes back and forth. It goes all around. It

takes me two weeks to get something. It's overpriced,

costs twice as much as someone just shipping

regular shit to me. Yeah. It's amazing. It really

is amazing. That I agree with you. And it's funny

because I remember when that first came out,

it was, you know, UPS, it was ToyGuru, it was

like UPS is raising prices, so we're getting

an alternate. form of shipping. It'll be through

the UPS or USPS, blah, blah, blah. It's only

taken a year and a half before people realize

that Newgistix is basically like a secondary

company where Maddie Collector ships their stuff

up to them from California that ships it up to

Sparks, Nevada. And then it basically sits there

and then they have to redo shipping and put new

labels on shit, essentially. And then that's

when it goes out so it does it sits there for

like a week before just decides to go anywhere

and I'm like I don't understand it it's really

retarded but so I'm sitting there it's really

bad so anybody I tell anybody all the time if

if you want to sign up for the new 2013 subscription

go for it good for you support Maddie collector

that's one already dead I know you did that's

because you're such a sucker See now we'll get

into that we'll get into that but I tell people

I say if you're gonna sign up for it Do not I'm

like even though it costs more use UPS shipping

Don't use USPS because UPS picks it up directly

from their warehouse in Ontario, California And

then it goes to where it needs to it doesn't

go from Ontario to Sparks to Texas to Guam to

Ethiopia back over Russia back out here to Sparks,

Nevada. I mean, it's ridiculous. So I tell people,

use UPS. It's the best way to get anything, even

though it costs a little bit more. I go the cheap

route, and I wait my two weeks for the damn thing.

So whatever. Oh, you don't even. I hate paying

for their overpriced, slow ass shipping. Well,

see, here's the thing. And here's the thing of

where your argument is, oh, I would rather get

it from the source than pay. a third party site

additional prices. Now here's my argument against

that. Big Bad Toy Store, let's say. Star Sisters,

$99. How many should I buy? All right, but OK,

but the Star Sisters are a bad fucking example

because no one fucking wants those fucking Nazi

bitches. No one wants those goddamn toys. Yeah,

I tried selling mine for $30, and nobody wants

to buy them. No one wants that three pack, so

that's. That's a bad example. I'm just talking

about, in general, for a general figure. On Big

Bad Toy Store, normally when it first comes out,

let's say Thunder Punch He -Man or Stink Or.

$34 .99, OK? If you add in the shipping, and

here in Kentucky we don't have additional sales

tax, for me it would be $43 and change to get

a Stink Or or a Thunder Punch He -Man shipped.

OK, $43 and I think it's like $43 .28 or whatever

else. Now, Big Bad Toy Store goes and buys, because

Mattel allows everyone to do this, up to, I believe

it's up to 10 subscriptions at a time. I think

that's what it is. I could be wrong. I'm not

looking at Mattel's website. I don't know. I

think subscription -wise, you can buy as many

as you want. Yeah, you can buy as many as you

want. But isn't it like you? Isn't it like 10

per cart at a time? No, I don't know. You know,

that's fine. Yeah, I know they allow you to buy

as many. I just thought there was like a cart

limit on it. I don't know. Whatever. I don't

think there is. All right. So for Big Bad Toy

Store, they're essentially investing in Mattel.

And if you think about it, one subscription,

at least for 2012, at least for the 2012 subscription,

one subscription is like $500 and something.

plus whatever additional, it's like $540 plus

whatever the taxes are or whatever else. So if

they're buying, say, 20, 30, 40 subscriptions

to get all those figures or to get as many of

those figures to have a stock for their store,

that's like a small fortune invested in Mattel.

I don't mind going to their website to get If

I Wanna Stink Ore for $34 .99 and paying that

additional cost because I would rather pay them

who have already paid Mattel and dealt with the

Mattel than go to fucking Matty Collector and

deal with the stupid shit of O. Even if you put

it in your cart, it's not safe until you check

out. That is the, I'm sorry, that and the shipping

are the dumbest fucking thing about that website

outside of customer service. That's true. That

is true. That is pretty stupid. Don't forget

the little word game at the end of your purchase.

Oh, the CAPTCHA? Yeah, the CAPTCHA. That's another

thing. Yeah. I can't read those things to save

my life. I have to hit the audio thing, and I

still don't understand what the damn thing says.

I would CAPTCHA on any website. I just keep resetting

it until I can see some resemblance of what the

letters and numbers are. I mean, there are some

webs. Now see if, and again, I'm going to reference

popculturenetwork .com. Dirt, when one of their

guys over there, Dirt, Doug, he said when the

capture first started, he was using great captures

of Maddie sucks, and Heathrown, and loin cloth.

He was using all these weird things that were

making fun of it. But you could actually, you

were able to see what his image was that he was

projecting. The reason, if I'm not mistaken,

wasn't the reason to put those on there was to

prevent people from just auto buying stuff to

take stock away? Yes, yeah. And now how ironic

that they're going to be getting rid of that

by basically removing day of sale purchases in

the first place. Oh, we'll get to that in a minute.

Marzo, any rebuttals to my points here about

the whole third party buying? Yeah, I'll take

it for $10 cheaper shipped from Matty. So you

would rather go through the hell of dealing through

MattyCollector than just going to bbts .com,

finding the figure you want, 0 .3 smooth checkout.

In Marzo's defense, he hasn't had the same. I

mean most recently I I'm now screwed out of getting

a Griffin I Am just not going to get one now

live in the same fucking state I don't understand

why you just don't go up there and blow the fucking

head You know what's you know what's funny? So

I sent this out to him Where's the thing they

got it on it was it was a Tuesday? Let me look.

I think they got it on the 10th. They got it

Um and I got an email on the 16th. I'm going

to my email. Hold on. Let me get in there. Okay.

And uh la la la la la la la la la la la la la

Okay, the 16th that says at your request. We've

initiated a return request authorization This

authorization will expire in 30 days. We want

to make sure that you're properly credited So

please return the product on or before the return

date below the return date that I have to have

it Sent to is August 15th. They got it in their

hands July 10th Then a week later I get this

email and it says that I'll be credited within

five to seven business days. But from what date

am I supposed to get my money back? Because they

got the paper on the bank! Yes, I totally understand.

That's the exact same thing that happened to

me. And I know Marzo's going to throw this on

my face of, oh, they sent you free shit. I was

thinking that. I was thinking that. heeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheeheehee

heeheehee heeheehee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee

hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee

he Horde Prime, not Horde Prime, um, oh god,

what's the VAC metal one? Um, Jesus Christ. Oh,

the Hurricane Hordak. Yeah, Hurricane Hordak

Leech. And like five or six or seven other figures.

And he also got me two other ones off of the

Matty sale date. He got me a Skeletorna and a

Keldor off the Matty sale date at the time. So

he sends me all this stuff. And I'm thinking,

OK, cool. I'm set for January. I'm only going

to have to pay for the Sorceress. That's great.

Whatever. Awesome. And then. Mattel has, and

this is specifically Mattel, I know this has

nothing to do with MattyCollector .com, the actual

website, but this is Mattel. Their product thing

gets all fucked up and they move the most expensive

set in the 2012 subscription to January, which

is the Nazi Sisters, because no one fucking wants

those German bitches. You know? I don't think

they're actually German. I know they're not,

but that's the best - Seeing how I'm German,

I take offense to that. Me too. Anyway. Asshole.

1945, bitch. Anyway. So that happened. And at

that point, I had to then to cover myself, to

cover my bank account, I had to go sell all the

figures I had just bought from Paul in order

to cover for these sets of figures that I didn't

even freaking want. Okay, so that was the you

know that was the linchpin for me, and then the

boiling point was when they're like oh Well,

you said you wanted your subscription canceled

or oh well The whole thing of the February 7th

thing of, oh, don't pay any attention to what's

in your cart. That's not supposed to be there.

I didn't know. I had done the cart thing before

they made that announcement of pay no attention

to it. So that was, and I fully blame Chris Vint

for that. That's all his fault, Irish bastard.

Who I just agreed to do a Teenage Mutant Ninja

Turtle podcast with, by the way. Oh, cool. you

know chris vent is like oh yeah did you see your

cart mic and i'm like no i look at the cart like

eight items you and it specifically said in the

car it said in order to get your subscription

you must go through the checkout process so i

went through the checkout process i spent i believe

it's like four different times on the phone with

um engine mattel um Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, getting,

trying to get them to understand. If anybody

is Iranian, I apologize. Yeah, yeah. Trying to

get them to understand that I wasn't buying four

fucking subscriptions. I only had two subscriptions

to the line, but no, they sent it anyway. And

then as soon as they sent it, they're like, we've

received your request for cancellation. Your

subscription is now canceled. And I'm like, wait,

what? Why is my original order cancelled, yet

you still sent me two shipments of these fi -

you know. Did you get the figures? I was just

ready to sell everything to whatever the buyers

I had at the time, and I was just fucking done.

They said, okay, well, we cancelled your subscription,

blah, blah, blah, blah. And it's like, okay,

fine, you're gonna cancel it. I didn't tell you

to cancel it, because they say - We can't cancel

subscriptions. Once you buy it, you're locked

in. Blah, blah, blah. You can't cancel them.

You can't cancel them. They can do whatever the

fuck they want. Yeah. That's the point. It's

like... Well, did you get the figures? I got

the figures at the time. Did you get charged?

I got two set of February figures, but I only

got charged once. And with one of those Shadow

Weaver. Ooh. There you go, there you go, there

you go. You can't complain. You can't complain.

You didn't pay for him though, so I'm kind of

on Marzo's side with this one. But see, here's

the thing though, I never said that I want, I

told them to cancel that other order. That's

nice, but they also didn't charge you for that

other order, so it doesn't matter. Take it and

run. And in your case, you probably took them,

sold them, and made some money, yes? Well, yeah.

Shadow Weaver. Shadow Weaver money. Banking Shadow

Weaver money. No, no, no, no. Hold on. No, no,

no. Shut up. Both of you, shut up. Hold on. I'm

on Marzo's side with this one. No one can fucking

accuse me of being a Shadow Weaver scalper, because

any Shadow Weavers I had went to people that

needed them. How much did you charge for them,

though? Price plus shipping 2870 is what I charge

but the price plus shipping of Money that you

didn't actually spend so they were free figures,

but what I'm saying is though That's like that's

like me getting hold on That's like me getting

this turtle sewer playset directly from playmates

and not paying the hundred thirty dollars and

then turning around and selling it for a hundred

bucks I just made a hundred dollars off of nothing,

but what I'm saying is though, okay? Here's the

thing. I wasn't like, OK, I have extra shadow

weavers. I'm not going to help people out. I'm

going to put them all on eBay for whatever. At

the time, I think one of the ones I saw, she

was selling for like $160 something. No, I wasn't

like that. I was like, hey, you know. It's nice,

it's very nice and very noble of you sir Mike

that you wanted to help people out But the fact

of the matter is you you profited money that

you were never out in the first place Granted

you didn't mark up as much as you could have

True, but you still put money in your pocket

that was never there in the first place but I

see what you're saying but my biggest I don't

even know what the hell we originally were talking

about with this that made you run off on this

stupid tangent um it's it's just oh Martin he

hasn't had the same problems so I can't blame

him for not and I honestly think that Maddie

Collector looks at the orders and be like oh

This is from Paul Optobotanist. Let's piss on

his stuff. Because they don't like me, clearly.

I mean, I get a defective Ghost Trap. I get a

defective Griffin. I don't get any... Piston

State Puff. Oh, I get a Piston State Puff Marshmallow

Man. God, I don't know what else. I didn't get

Battle Cat when I wanted him. I mean, there's

just mess after mess, but... Because they know

you're a Hasbro apologist, and I'm a Maddie apologist,

so they hooked me up. That makes sense. They

know our names. They do. They're like, oh shit,

it's that Optibotamus guy. Fuck. I mean, so I

understand where he doesn't have the same kind

of perspective as us. I wish I had his problems

with his free Shadow Weavers. Damn, I wanna know.

That wouldn't be too bad. I don't want to complain

too much about that. And now we lead into the

whole problem that is going on for 2013, that

they're raising the prices. And everybody keeps

saying, well, we're raising the prices to $25.

You're really not. You're raising them to $27.

Yeah. It's 25 for subscriptions. Yeah. But here's

the thing, you know, and I've joked about this

all the time, you know for the past I don't know

three years I've constantly said this that Maddie

collector does not want they want guaranteed

sales I've said this to you Mike many times they

want guaranteed sales they push these subscriptions

and They they entice you by you know, you know

Revealing some good figures in the first couple

of months plus a subscription figure And I mean,

last year was fantastic. I mean, it was a Shadow

Weaver. Everybody wanted Shadow Weaver. I mean,

that was a huge thing. First filmation character

we could do, blah, blah, blah, blah, all this

stupid stuff, right? Wonderful. So that really

floored people, made people want to sign up for

it. Now it's like, we've got to raise prices,

which I understand. I totally understand, and

I sympathize with the fact that in the global

economy, things are more expensive. I totally

get that. It's perfectly understandable. Number

one, you can mitigate some of that problem by

actually selling to retail stores such as Toys

R Us and like what NECA does. You can lower the

cost of things by producing more figures and

getting them into more people's hands by putting

them at retail. Now, how well, now Maddie Collector

has done this before with their two packs, you

know, with like Furman versus Aquaman or something.

I don't know how well they'll sell. Don't think

they sell all that well because every time I

had been to a Toys R Us wouldn't like The He

-Man and Skeletor two packs that the Superman

He -Man and Skeletor right right Lex Luthor were

They had plenty of them but that also comes in

after the fact or after Those figures have already

been released and people have them so I don't

need to buy another Merman who happens to be

blue -painted mm -hmm I mean We don't need another

Skeletor that doesn't come with his Havoc Staff.

You know, people don't want that. So, it's kind

of pointless. If they actually catered, or if

they actually took their Mad Collector stuff,

put it there, get rid of the stupid fucking white

Mailer box. You know, which just, that adds cost

to things. You already got rid of the tissue

paper. That's your favorite part, isn't it? That's

your favorite part. I love the tissue paper thing,

and I have a valid point. I don't care what anybody

says. People are like, why do you bitch about

that? Because some people, if I was a mint on

box collector, the white mailer boxes have gotten

smaller. There's less mailer box. So when you're

taking these figures out, you now have to scrape

the inside bubble across. the inside of the white

mailer box, so you could potentially damage that

package. That's all I'm saying. That's why the

tissue paper's there in the first place, to protect

the package. But now you got rid of it, and you

got a smaller mailer box. Get rid of all that

fucking shit, put it onto a retail shelf, where

people will go there, and will wanna buy these

figures. How many people do you think, if we

sat there and said, Shadow Weaver is going to

be released in August? of whatever month. You

know, we're not doing subscriptions. You're gonna

have to go to Toys R Us to get it. How many people

do you think would go there and buy that figure?

Everybody. Everybody who collects Masters of

the Universe Classes, they would go there. Ram

Man. We're gonna release him. He's gonna be out

February 2013 at your local Toys R Us. Go get

him. Now, does that mean that you may have to

worry about scalpers and things of that nature?

Yes, all that stuff is gonna come along. At least

they're gonna be getting the figures out there

in a better way where things prices won't have

to get retarded Because I'm sorry the prices

are getting retarded out $25 that's starting

to get retarded for a for a seven inch figure

$25 Yeah, it's what you heard here. Here's the

retarded part for me As I said before in other

episodes of this podcast and in other toy cast

episodes How you know Paul you and I think it

was episode 22 where one night we just got on

and just started I don't fucking you know Go

going on and on about this, but what I pointed

out was how is the price increase going to affect

the Maltese and the beasts and all that and They're

gonna have one. That's I don't even know off

the top of my head. Isn't one of them going to

be like $70? $75. Yeah. Let me see if I can find

it on their website. Like I said, I understand

that cost of doing things is getting higher.

I totally understand that. I mean, even Hasbro

has had these problems. It's universal. Everybody's

having these problems. You sit there and now

you force people to get these subs, and... I

mean, I have no problem buying the subscriptions.

I like the ease of not having to go on there

and buy stuff, but... One of the biggest things

that I've always complained about is that we

don't know what we're buying. We're locked into

a contract with them, and there's several characters

I don't give a fuck about. I still have Icarus...

Sitting up in my shelf in his white mailer because

I don't have any interest in them. I still have

snout spout Perfectly sealed in box. I have no

interest in them. I have mega tour up there I

have the star sisters. They're all up there.

I had to buy them. I had no choice Those are

figures. I would never have bought no matter

what but it gives Maddie collector guaranteed

money now now they're forcing people to do it

and i don't care what you know scott nightly

says it's a scare tactic it is if you want these

figures in 2013 you have to sign up for the subscription

sign up for a bunch of them blah blah blah blah

blah because without them we're not going to

make them that's the truth but it's also a scare

tactic oh yeah it rose a panic right now actually

there's panic going on oh it absolutely is i

mean because nobody knows and they don't put

that little uh thermometer thing On the Masters

of the universe thing they have it on the infinite

earth, but they don't have They know For the

most part they know that the Masters fans are

going to I mean they already well Don't know

otherwise Scott night like would not have put

up that video on Maddie collector today Did you

see that video where he's? I'm sure I'm sure

Colin has seen it, but have you seen this Mike?

No, I'll have to go back and he put up this video

explaining the whole thing you know trying to

quell some of this it's not working no the fact

that he puts that up there is evidence that they're

not seeing it because they're not extending according

to them aug what is it august 8th is the deadline

august uh august 6th at 11 59 p .m according

to the website yeah that's the deadline that

is in what two weeks yeah pretty much and there

you know for him to put that up there I mean,

I'm not interested in it because number one,

I like the idea of King He -Man. I really do

like the idea. I love having an older He -Man,

you know, gray hair, looking older, you know,

years. I love the idea. I think it's great. It's

not enough for me to sign up for a subscription

when the only other figure that you show me that

I'm interested in, and they showed what, half

a dozen or so? They showed quite a bit, actually.

They did. They actually did. But the only one

that I'm interested in, Ram -Man. Is Ram -Man?

What about Jitsu? Oh, Jesus fucking Christ. Jitsu!

Come on. Seriously? That's your other selling

point? You're gonna hold up Ram -Man and Jitsu

and be like, which one's gonna make you want

to sign up for the subscription? Hey man, I like

the bad guys. I like Jitsu more than - I never

had a vintage Ram -Man. I never liked him. He

was dumb to me. He really is dumb. I mean, oh

really you're gonna have him go spring -loaded

in and it's one of those things where you can't

put the action feature in it and That makes it

even more kind of dumb if you ask me because

now it's like Wow, this is really stupid But

I mean, but that's the only other figure that

I was really interested in and I was like And

it honestly seems as if that's the case with

a lot of people not only that but they're really

kind of pissing on international fans Yeah There's

a huge international base. Oh, yes, there most

definitely is. I mean, if I would pay for their

prices and customs and good. Oh, yeah. And waiting

and and if they lose it and if they lose it,

you're fucked. Like that really sucks. Yeah.

Yeah, pretty much. Again, that just goes to the

customer service that is supposed to be based

in the United States for us. Which is not. So

just to go ahead and give everyone the information,

according to mattycollector .com on the club

attorney subscription, the total commitment for

2013 is $505 plus applicable fees and taxes and

shipping. Varies depending on your location and

the shipping method you choose. This includes

12 monthly figures. At $25 each is $300 for 12

figures. Four beast variants multi -packs, one

each at $25, $30, $50 and $60. $75 a total of

$180 and $25 membership fee for a total of 505

plus shipping taxes fees I'm sorry. There is

nothing that Mattel can make and this is the

one time I will talk about Figures and all that

you know the actual toys there is nothing Mattel

can make that is worth $75 unless they make a

fucking castle grayskull that I would ever pay

$75 for something and I know that that giant

$75 item is not gonna be a castle grayskull.

Oh, that's the that's the fighting foam and three

pack is yeah dollars I Don't care about that.

Yeah, that's about all star sisters if that was

if that was horde troopers that would sell like

crack Oh damn right it would why why are they

not doing that instead of the like? Like, okay,

I know the whole thing of, oh, well, we need

to keep some major things close to the vest because

we don't want to lose our... our customer base.

You're gonna lose your customer base because

no one wants to pay 75 fucking dollars for three

figures that maybe... ten out of thousands of

fans know who the fuck they are. I've never heard

of them before in my life. I don't know what

they are. Yeah. Same here, so... I mean, it's...

They're shooting their foot off. They're alienating.

Too many concepts and stuff like that. I know

they have to spread this out. They need to cover

a whole bunch of stuff. They need to cover the

POP. They need to do the Masters of the Universe.

They need to do the New Adventures. They gotta

do all that stuff. I totally understand it. You

gotta appeal to all those different fans. But

you're alienating your international base. which

is clear by what we see today, it is clear that

they are not signing up for the subscription.

And they are one of the major things that's keeping

this subscription thing and this line alive.

You're alienating them. The cherry pickers, which

they're affectionately called cherry pickers,

they're being alienated because now subscribers

are getting the wonderful new feature that you

can go on of the it's not gonna be it is not

going to be available on the actual sale day

because the people that do sign up for subscriptions

are gonna go and they're gonna buy them all and

They're gonna be gone and they've already said

once they're gone if they're gone They're not

gonna be available on this on the actual date

of the sale which Now it's like fuck you everybody

else who might have possibly wanted it But you

don't want that you know if you didn't you didn't

want it enough to sign up for the subscription

It's just pushing the subscription thing a whole

lot more, which I understand. That's fine. You

want guaranteed money. That's perfectly okay

for me. Show me every fucking figure you're going

to be committing me to over the course of the

year. Or you don't even have to show them to

me. Give me a list of the figures that you're

going to do. Exactly. Yeah. That would be fine.

Or at least tell us what they're from, what era

they're from or whatever, you know? Yeah, because

I have no interest in... Me either. I hate it.

I had to. And that's what I think sucks. That's

what they're doing now. And it was fine in the

beginning part, but now you're starting to run

out of kind of main characters. Yeah, pretty

much. Now everybody's getting nervous. You know,

until a movie comes out and they've... Brissa

they've explicitly said this until a movie comes

out. We will never get a grayscale. We will never

get I don't know about that I mean though I mean

we've seen pictures and I seen in a person at

first I thought it was a big thing You know I

thought it was a full -scale thing of Castle

Grayscale when I saw it in person the damn thing

is like Tiny it's like I don't even know how

to describe it. Um, it's I'm looking around my

10 inches tall or something. Maybe a foot square.

Yeah. If you're lucky. And I'm like, oh, that

was it? Because I think it was actually you,

Marzo, that reposted a link of the picture. Yeah,

I retweeted it. I'm like, oh, that looks cool.

That's awesome. And then I got there. I'm like,

wait, that's it? Now, that wasn't even at the

Maddie Collector booth. That was at somebody

else's booth. Icon Heroes. Yes. Icon Heroes,

yeah. It was sculpted by the horsemen. And it's

something that, you know, hopefully at some point

in time they would do, but it's like, you know,

only, and like, you know, Scott and I, like I

said, only in a movie year. And, I mean - Who

knows when that's gonna be? Yeah, I mean, it's

not on the realm of possibility with them remaking

all these old 80 franchises. As long as it ain't

Michael Bay, ooh. Oh, I care less. I mean, Michael

Bay made billions of dollars with Transformers.

Billions of dollars. It's all about money. You

know what you know what honestly if my the sad

thing is now that I think about it now that now

that you bring it up if Michael Bay Was to direct

a Masters of the Universe movie? Listen hold

on hold on listen he would completely ignore

2002 and Filmation he would completely ignore

that he would go after new adventures because

it's military -based. It's space -based, and

that's what he would do From would make he man

a fucking alien. I would cut myself. I would

wait a minute He man's already a fucking alien.

What are you complaining about? North Carolina

See there you go, I just you know, it's in the

not in big bold letters but in bold letters in

in lowercase it says no extensions will ever

be made that's fucking lame because they always

extend because they might not this time no no

here's the thing if that that that that right

there might be a step i mean that right there

if you don't delete my words but if they don't

for 2013 i'll eat my words but for 2012 because

they were wanting to get the DC shit done. They're

like, ooh, we'll extend it. And we're not just

going to extend for DC. We're going to extend

for all subscriptions. So if you missed out the

first time, so that's what I'm going by. No,

I totally understand. But by putting that on

there, I've been in business. Putting that little

italic message on there is a scare tactic. Sign

up for it now, because there's not going to be

any extensions. We've gotten at the past couple

of years. And they extended. Now, I'm pissed

off because they didn't give the Ghostbusters

thing the same chance as they were giving them.

Now, granted, Ghostbusters had kind of run its

course. They'd done the main characters. They're,

you know, they constantly keep saying that...

They refuse to do the animated series characters

because, oh, well, we need to stay in the movie

line. Well, no, it wasn't even that. It was just,

you know, we can't afford... The subscription

numbers aren't there in order to warrant newly

tooled figures. And I understand that. I understand

that, but you could have pushed to have more

people sign up for it like you did with everything

else. I mean, honestly, it really does look as

if that everything that Maddie Collector has

done to other things in the past is finally catching

up with the Masters of the Universe Classic stuff.

And now this was supposed to be Hasbro versus

Maddie Collector, and this has just turned into

a whole Maddie Collector thing. All right. Hey

man, I like Hasbro's exclusives more this year.

That's why I'm pissed off at Hasbro. Because

their exclusives are way better this year than

Mattel's. Yeah. I wanted them. I didn't want

Mattel's. I don't care about Vikron or whatever

it's called. Yeah. I want, only thing I wanted

was I wanted that Batman thing. I just, and now

it's just because I thought the whole Batcave

with the light up thing, I thought that was cool

looking. I didn't even want, I mean as a Ghostbuster

collector, I didn't even want to fucking spend

the money to buy Dana Barrett, and you guys can't

see me, but I'm doing the little quotation mark

things because that does not look like Sigourney

Weaver. That looks like Sigourney Weaver's stupid,

redheaded, retarded stepchild. I mean, it would

cost extra for that. Yeah, probably. Probably.

They'd have to get the actual licensing rights

from Sigourney Weaver, but I mean, you know,

it's just... You know in Hasbro, you know kind

of switching gears. Let's make fun of Hasbro

for a little bit, you know Let's let's do that

for a little bit. I'm all for making fun of Hasbro.

I'm not I'm not so much a Hasbro apologist I

mean I can bitch and complain about everybody

equally. I'm not racist I hate everybody equally

Hasbro has constantly kept giving us bullshit

stuff over and over again, you know, there's

a lot of stuff that people are repaints galore

but you can't even, you can't even use that because

that's what he meant. You cannot, no one between

the two companies, between Mattel and Hasbro,

you can't make a repaint argument against or

for either company because they all do repaints.

Some do more than others though. Every, well,

but some people, some companies have a bigger,

you know, retail presence. Thanks to Michael

Bay, right, blowing stuff up, right? Hey, if

it fits asses in the seats, that's what they

go with. If it fit asses in the seats, it reinvigorated

the franchise. People now are going back and

they're watching things that came before it.

And it's bringing in, I've said this to Mike

many times before, this is a new G1 for people.

They get into it because of the movies, now they're

going back and they at least have a history to

go back and look at. Even if Michael Bay did

a Masters of the Universe movie, as bad as it

is, it can't be as bad as Dolph Lundgren's version.

And I say that loving that movie. But that movie

is terrible. That is not a He -Man movie. You

could have put any title that you would want

associated with that movie. It was not a He -Man

movie. Skeletor carries that movie. And that

was a terrible Skeletor. No way. No, now hold

on here. Gwildor carried that! Oh my god. Hold

on. When it comes to Skeletor, I will only agree...

that the nineteen eighty seven masters universe

movie was a bad movie simply because of how the

plot was laid out simply because actually gary

goddard or whatever the fuck whatever the fuck

his stupid name is the director wanted to homage

jack kerby's fourth world characters that's where

he was going he didn't give a shit about he -man

but i will say he did get skeletor right because

franklin jealous skeletor is the closest thing

in live action as to what uh... uh... alan openheimer's

skill it was information i agree i agree with

my loss of all that you can't really say that

that film at a bad skillet or is that still it

was kind of bad ass carried that will be carried

that will be a well -born all right well i've

said i guess i i i i will i will only sign up

for masses of the universe classic subscription

again i'd get will door And if they make Gwildor

in 2013, I'll be pissed off. Hey, they trademarked

him last year, so he probably is coming. See?

Now, son of a bitch. Now you got me actually

thinking about that, because if they trademarked

him, it takes about six months or so to do a

figure. Son of a bitch. Now I'm thinking about

the whole thing. I actually really did like Gwildor.

I really did. I mean, as a kid, I remember going

as a kid and like, who the fuck is this guy?

Him and Blades? I'm like, who the fuck are these

people? This isn't Key Man. But as I got older,

I love the movie. I absolutely, I can sit there

right now. I could go down there and I can enjoy

the movie. But I still think the movie was bad.

Exactly. It's so bad. It's like watching Howard

the Duck. I love Howard the Duck and that movie

sucked. So I'm sitting here. And I'm like, you

know what? Hasbro has problems. There's no question

about it. But they also have a bigger, like I

said, they have a bigger retail presence than

Hasbro. They have the hub. That's what I'll give

them props for. Love that channel. Damn right.

That is a very good channel. I can go back there.

I can watch. And they bought all their old classics

so they can. Play the G1 stuff, you know? Yeah,

absolutely, absolutely. They just recently started

airing Transformers Animated and that was another

thing that I wanted to say. There are people

that haven't seen Transformers Animated because

it came out a little bit before the movie, but

it was really the movies that kind of grabbed

a lot of people back into it. But by that point

in time, the series was done. So people are going

back now and they're watching Transformers Animated

on the hub and they're like, this is actually

pretty good. So there's a history. Or and you

know, so this is the new g1 but they have a history

to go with even if Michael Bay made a he -man

movie as Bad as it would probably end up being

I'll freely admit that it would probably be a

a Bastardized version. I cringe every time I

hear Michael Bay and he -man movie in the same

sentence. I Seriously do it's cringe -worthy.

I agree But as bad as that would be it would

usher in a whole new era Would finally allow

us to get some classic stuff that Maddie collector

has been promising like a really kick -ass looking

gray skull You know probably a lot of other kind

of cool figures to go along with I mean although

they have Basically, you know the rights not

to do whoever they want so it would bring in

a whole new Thing for it, and I think it would

be good for He -Man and the Masters of the universe

if it got some new blood brought into it because

Nobody cares unless it's on the big screen nowadays.

Nobody care. No, look at that. Look at that Green

Lantern movie That didn't do nothing for their

green. Well, that's because Ryan Reynolds is

a homo And I'm sorry, I don't want to watch a

homo that's not nice I shouldn't see that that

sounds terrible The problem and this is kind

of getting off track here but the problem that

I have with Green Lantern Isn't has nothing to

do with the plot of the movie and has nothing

to do with the fact that They picked one of the

worst villains ever. I mean, come on. The fucking

yellow fear monster. Give me a fucking break.

The problem I had, and one of the reasons why

I have yet to see the film, because I'm waiting

for it to hit Netflix, because I refuse to pay

any additional money for it than what I already

paid to Netflix. One of the reasons that really

turned me off to the Hal Jordan character in

that film was the fact that it was Ryan Reynolds.

And the first teasers and trailers show him attempting

to be Van Wilder in a Greenlander uniform where

Hal Jordan is trying to be comical and all this

and all that, and I just didn't care for it whatsoever.

Yeah, no, he was a bad person. He was a bad cast.

It was a bad casting decision to put him in there.

The only good thing about that movie is they

snuck in a He -Man quote. That's all I'll give

it. Was it? Yeah, they did. I think they... What

was it? They snuck in by the power of something.

I think they did something like that. Oh, jeez.

Someone posted it. I don't know. I can't remember

what it was exactly. But I think he says, by

the power of something, and then that's not it.

Oh, when he's trying to get the ring to actually

work. Yeah. Yeah, I think that's what I remember.

Because he starts rambling. off a whole bunch

of different kind of things to get the power

ring to actually do something. And he's like,

open sesame. And he's just randomly going through

all these stupid stands. And no, he does say

by the power of Grayskull. I remember that in

the, yeah. That's good for them. Best part of

the movie. Best two seconds of that movie. Probably.

Actually had a buddy of mine that did editing

work on there And he was telling me before like

a year before the movie came out that he's like

this movie is gonna suck It was pretty bad, but

I mean it so you got you got online or you got

retail presents, and that's what Hasbro has and

No matter what? And yeah, and you have your own

television channel, but I mean that's that that's

all money that came to him because of the movies

though I mean Take the movies away. They don't

have their own channel, but that's just how it

goes now Hasbro they constantly keep giving us

repaints Mattel does that every toy company does

that neck it does that playmates does that you

name the toy company There there's we got it

You got to do it you have to you spend I mean

a mold to create a mold for a figure it costs

a hundred thousand hundreds of thousands of dollars

to create molding, to be able to create figures

and stuff. It's a process. It's a pain in the

ass to do. And they gotta make use of it as many

times as possible, so I understand it. But one

of the biggest things I think people complain

about with Hasbro, and Marzo mentioned this,

is the Bumblebee situation. Everybody hates Bumblebee

now because that's all you see on the shelves,

but... That being said if bumblebee if kids did

not buy bumblebee. I'm sure Hasbro would notice

it and not make as many Yeah, but kids are buying

the son of a bitch you have no choice. It's all

that they got It's all that they can buy at the

store. Yeah That's true. That's true. I mean

I go there and all I see well actually I saw

a couple of the new wave ones, but Had not I

had no desire to actually buy him because I have

no business buying a stupid ass ugly repaint

Jamaican repaint of wheel jack and then stupid

I was gonna say black arachnid, but it's not

black arachnid. It's a arachnid that thing's

a horrible looking toy, but and and then another

bumblebee I like the video game based stuff though

all cyber trance only and that's awesome that's

what i like the best about transfer that that

g one is all i really like i still say you need

to give prime uh... here he comes he's pushing

it out of the uh... well i told you this on twitter

you you have a netflix subscription yes or no

yeah yeah okay So there's really no excuse. You're

not paying any of this. Hold on, hold on. There's

no excuse. You're not paying any of this. He's

agreeing with you, Mike. Shut up and let him.

Fuck. So go onto Netflix and at least watch the

first five episodes. And if after the first five

episodes you don't care for Prime, that's fine.

But Prime does have at least in my opinion, damn

good storytelling. I'm sure there are little

nitpicks here and there that people don't care

for. I personally am loving the entire series

at this point. I very rarely have a bad thing

to say about that series. My biggest problem

that I have with Transformers Prime, and I'll

be totally honest, is I really think that they

underuse Optimus Prime in it. I really think

a lot of the show focuses on You know, not even

so much Bumblebee. I see him focusing on like,

Bulkhead a lot. I mean, Bulkhead's kind of becoming

the new Bumblebee for this. You know, and it

focuses on Jack and him trying to grow up into

this leader sort of thing. And Optimus Prime,

you know, a lot of people loved the end episodes

of the first season because Optimus Prime had

a lot of character in those. I mean, he was really

kind of cool in those. I mean, he's just kind

of boring. In this new series and I'll totally

admit that it's kind of boring. I don't like

his face for some reason Yeah, I don't know why

what like like without the without the mask on

them It's just yeah. Yeah, I think so the look

on his face just bothers me. I'm I'm too stuck

in the past when it comes to transformers That's

that's fair that's fair, but it's you know, it's

it's It's a different kind of story that's being

told. I think it's entertaining, and I think

it's worth at least trying to check it out. Yeah,

I promise you I'll give it a run on Netflix.

I know you asked me that a couple times. I'm

going to give it a try. You should. You should.

And the reason why I say you should watch the

first five episodes is because that is a five

-part story arc. If you watch the first five

and you watch through that story arc and you're

like, yeah, this. Yeah, it's good, but it's just

not my thing. That's fine. I don't care. But

at least give it a shot, because it's, I think,

some damn good storytelling. This is probably

the best Frank Wilker Megatron we've ever had.

Well, we've only had two Frank Wilker Megatrons.

Well, well. No, there has only been two Frank

Walker Megatrons. Yes, technically, yes, because

in the 2007 game he was using the G1 version,

yeah. But the thing with the Megatron and Transformers

Prime that he does is it's not the G1 voice.

but it's so much better that it isn't because

that voice for him is a uh... a throat scratcher

a throat killer essentially uh... where he's

talking really high where this megatron it's

really low and it's from the back of his throat

and it's more so of you know dark and sinister

verses eighties and campy well you can't even

that's not even a fair comparison because eighties

cartoons are completely different Mean that's

the kind of animation. I like to I don't I don't

really care for today's CGI computer stuff Yeah,

I like the hand -painted the hand -painted classic

stuff. Yeah. Well, you're just Derpy. Yep Even

though you can't buy one. No, you can't get Derpy.

How much is he? How much is Derpy going for like

on eBay 50 bucks 100 120 no way where to God

go look Hold on I'm looking Here's here's a here's

one with no bids well, let me let's go to the

completed listings Let's see how much it's at

how much it's actually sold for Here's a derpy

22 bids went for $83. Oh, that's pretty good

Here's one for $70 That was a buy it now That's

all I ever look for is to buy it now is because

the The auction ones here's one that sold for

50 That's a watercolor there's some that's sold

for 120 120 is like the most they go for but

yeah, I want to see let's go the highest Highest

oh my god. Oh this one was signed by Lauren Faust

I don't know who that is Lauren Faust. She's

one of the writers. She's one of the creators

in the new show Okay, this one was signed it

went for $275 Yeah, that's a signed one. I mean

you can't you know, that's Just as an SDCC exclusive

alone without a signature they range from like

Seventy something okay. Here's here's one that

just by itself highest one was a hundred and

twenty two dollars not signed I Mean here's here's

a here's one for Derpy and Zechora Yeah, I was

a hundred and forty nine dollars that sold. Yeah

Let's see what let's see what the lowest one

was the lowest one. Oh shit. None of these actually

sold The lowest one that I see here is $55. Yeah.

So, you know. Not bad. I wish I would have got

some of these damn things at Comic -Con. You

know what's amazing is everything from... I mean,

this is the essence of Team Bottomist variety

hour. We're completely random. You know, it's

amazing how anything from San Diego Comic -Con

sells. I mean, I put in... Here, let me see.

I'll do it right now. Look at how much those

gems go for. I'm not even talking about the gems,

dude. I'm talking about the swag bag that they

give. Oh yeah, just the free giveaway stuff.

Superman bag. Here, San Diego Comic -Con Superman

bag, which is the one that I got. My wife got

a bag with arrow on it. Oh, see now. Oh, here's

the lowest. All right, the highest one. Here's

a bag that sold for $39. Buy it now. Here's one

this these bids were The highest bidded one was

$20 and 54 cents $20 for a bag that they gave

away for free. You know, let's see that that's

Superman. Let's see. I Don't even think that

was the most cost those people a few hours waiting

in line though for it. So Not really How long

does it take to get something there I never went

Well, to get your bag, I mean, it just... You

gotta buy something, right? No! No, no, no, no,

no. When you register, when you pick up your

badge, they give it to you. Oh, they give you

a bag. They give you a bag. And it comes with,

like, a guide, like a San Diego Comic -Con guide,

like book, like a big -ass book thing. Program.

Yeah, kind of like a program, yeah. Let's see.

So the Hobbit one wasn't very much. What was

some... Let's see, the arrow? Which is I guess

a new series that's based on? The green arrow

or something like that um here's one that sold

for $19 .99 $15 I mean these are all just bags.

I mean they're big -ass bags Let me see if the

Hasbro bag is on here. I bet the My Little Pony

bag goes for quite a bit oh Well, that's okay.

Well actually it's not that good Because the

I mean it's got it's got optimus prime my little

pony and GI Joe on it. Yeah, and The highest

one was only $12 and 50 cents Wow, but that I

thought that would be more but but again That's

a bag that they gave you when you bought something

Yeah, I mean, it's it's insane the shit that

they give you or that they you know the Yeah,

they give you and people around turn around and

sell it. I mean everything everything from there

gets sold You know, it's absolutely ridiculous

So I don't think either side is gonna win in

the Matty versus Hasbro battle because All I'll

say is this then in 2013, I'll bet you Hasbro

still selling toys of course I don't think Mattel

will be. Maddie Collector. Maddie Collector will

not be. If Masters of the Universe Classics goes

down, Maddie's done for. I agree. It's the only

thing that sells on there. I agree. Well, I mean,

they get prop replicas from Ghostbusters that

seem to sell. Oh, yeah. Yeah, but that's like

a once a year thing, though. Yeah, but then you

get at least one out of every. 200 of those don't

work and you have to spend you know Ori or it's

not the bottom is in one out of every two don't

work Yeah, I'm looking like I'm looking at the

DC Universe infinite earth subscription They

are so ridiculously far away from the level one,

which is the number required to move forward

with the 2013 subscription Yeah, they are not

gonna have this by August 6th. There's no way

And they didn't make it last year, either, did

they? No, they didn't. It took like three different,

let's do it again, sort of crap. Yep. And the

thing is, like, the new subscription they announced

this year, Watchmen. OK, I've never seen it.

That was like four years ago when the movie came

out. Yeah, that's, yeah. But see, like, I've

never seen the film. I've never read the comic.

But at the same time, You would think that they

would have gone with a more pop. Okay watchmen

is popular I'm not gonna say it's not popular

it is but it's only probably really isn't that

popular though Well, it's popular in certain

circles, but to the general toy collector No

one really wants watchmen toys. Why couldn't

you have given us a back to the future line?

Why couldn't you have given us? You know, I don't

want them to do a back to the future line because

they'll fuck it up Mean look at what they're

doing. I mean they fucked up the Ghostbuster

line. They fucked up the Club Infinite Earths

line They're gonna fuck up the Watchmen line.

They're currently fucking up the Masters of the

Universe classics line. I mean they fucked up

the Voltron line Now hold on wait a second. Hold

on hold on hold on Hold on damn it. How did they

fuck up the Voltron line? Look at the figures

They're not collector figures. The only reason

why they're so expensive is because the damn

thing's big. If you're gonna make a adult collectible

figure, you're gonna put the amount of detail

into it as you do with your Masters of the Universe

stuff. These things are not adult collector friendly.

There's no paint jobs on these things. They're

just not for horsemen, that's what it is. No,

well, that's the thing. And you look at it, and

we've seen... what the Mattel in -house sculptors

do, because that's responsible for the Ghostbuster

line. Yeah. I've seen it back in the 2002 days

of Eman. You could tell which ones the Four Horsemen

did and which ones the Mattel's in -house team

did. Yeah. It's just not good. I mean, they can't...

They need to stop doing this adult collectible

stuff, and they need to start putting this stuff

out at retail. They need to. That's the only

way they're gonna survive with this stuff. Like

Marzo said, the He -Man line goes down, this

entire site's going bye -bye. Yeah. Pretty much.

That's what I've been saying to everybody panicking

right now. And that's understandable, because

everybody is panicking. But the problem is, you

shouldn't sign up for these because you're panicked.

Yeah. You should sign up for them if you really

want them. Yeah. And I'm sorry. But they did

not show me enough at at San Diego Comic -Con

to warrant me Guaranteed them money for the club

you don't are. Oh My name is not The only the

I love I actually like that. I'll take that back

I'll take yeah The film Asian King randor is

great that that and ram man were the only two

that really interested me out of those that they

announced but let's face it there's only one

person in the entire fucking world that gives

a shit about mosquito and that's pixel dan you

know hey that's that's his main character that's

the character he likes that's fine he can like

a bug but you know what about rattler man he

rattles oh wow yeah he rattles he really rattles

the tail rattles yes Do they consider that an

action feature, though? Probably. Yeah, he said

it was. Well, see, here's the thing I don't understand.

They can put the rattle in Rattlor, yet they

can't make an adjustable torso piece for Ramman

to show. As much as I hate to say this, do what

they did with Dana Barrett, where part of her

waist is removable. Make Ramman. You know part

of him removable. I actually think that would

probably go over fairly well because most that's

what I'm saying It's like the vintage figure

didn't have any articulation in his leg Well,

no is because the articulation was taken up by

the spring gimmick right exactly so I think I

mean let me ask you Marzo You're you're a fan

would you care if they just made a? Swappable

leg like they did with Dana Barrett for Ramman

no articulation in the lower part of them fully

articulated from the waist up No articulation

on the bottom. You just pop off one thing and

you can make them regular tall Ramman or you

can make him squat Ramman That's fine by me.

Just like mackinac and his neck same thing. Yeah

See, I don't I don't not see it and you would

think that that would make the figure cheaper

Yeah, I wish missy or had blood in his chest

though. That's for sure. That was that was a

lot of build -up I mean My biggest problem that

I have is like I want I was not gonna sign up

for the subscription I was gonna be a cherry

picker. I was gonna you know, I mean King Randor

I was totally gonna buy I mean I was gonna go

online I was going to pay ridiculous amount of

prices for King He -Man Just because in doing

so I'd still but I'd still pay less Than the

whole subscription. I mean I'd go on I would

buy Ram -Man I'm sure there's a lot of other

figures that I would want Fang Man, I have no

interest in whatsoever. I don't know what the

fuck Fang Man is. Straight out of Filmation,

though. Filmation is my favorite cartoon. Alright,

alright, but how many episodes was Fang Man in,

though? Only one, yep, you're right. That's the

thing they're getting us on this Filmation stuff.

The same thing with the Star Sisters. The Star

Sisters appeared in She -Ra, like, once or twice.

You know, same thing with Elephant Head. fucking

all fire fighter of a theory or whatever the

fuck now he was in like five seconds of a sheer

episode I Can't eat I can't even sell that guy

because people are terrified that his snouts

gonna fall apart. Yeah Nobody wants to buy mine

from me. I mean I I tried selling like all that

stuff on I tried selling him for like $20 ship

nobody wanted to buy him Like this is I mean

I was doing $30 For I was doing $30 for the star

systems. I was doing 30 for Megator Nobody wanted

to buy this stuff It's amazing. But I mean I

Just I I can't I can't buy this subscription.

I mean, I'm just not that impressed with it I

could I could see that there's a few things that

most people wouldn't want Like they're just running

fighting Bowman and that big Procrustus dude

with all the arms I mean, it's cool looking,

but no one knows who the hell he is. Yeah. Yeah.

It's just whatever. It's just harder to, you

know, I mean, it's what this line started on

what? What year was it? 2008. 2008. Here we are

four years later doing a figure a month. They're

going to run out of characters. I mean, now we're

going to now we're going to start getting very

obscure one shot sort of characters that Some

people are gonna have a huge affinity for and

some people are gonna be like, I don't ever I

mean I watched team man as a kid. I Watched she

wrong. I don't ever remember seeing snout spout

Just because I was a kid I was at the end of

the he was at the end of the original line and

he was in love the very a couple of the very

last year episodes Yeah, he was in like five

minutes of like two episodes of she wrote what

I'm saying. It's like me being a kid Unless it

was somebody said that I saw like every other

episode I don't remember them just because I

was a kid right exactly well see here's the thing

and then you know this goes back to Scott night

like saying oh well if we Gave you all the characters

you wanted in one year. We wouldn't have anything

else. You know we have to sprinkle it through

this year sprinkled through as I said for me

personally if I was still collecting this line

wait the only to this year or next year No, okay,

well, 2013, the new subscription. 2013, the new

subscription. Next year, the only two that I

really have any interest in is Raman and Eterne

and Randor. Jitsu. Huh? Jitsu. Nobody gives a

fuck about fucking Jitsu. Randor and Ramman were

the only two I cared about. Hey, man, he's Fisto's

archenemy, dude. He rides the evil horse. Where's

stuff like Tongue Lashore or Too Bad or all these

other not necessarily top tier characters, but

at least second tier characters? Stay the fuck

away from new adventures. Don't even give that

shit time of day. I agree with that. Well, that's

not fair, though. I mean, we don't like it, you

know, but there are people that do. Yeah. I mean,

I think it's a waste. That was the dark days

of Masters of the Universe for me. That was the

first time I ever felt that something I loved

was ruined. So it was like you were watching

Michael Bay do Eman. Yeah, exactly. Essentially

yes because I remember in 1990 because I knew

at that time by then I was already into turtles

and everything else and He -Man and She -Ra were

over and even as a kid I maybe saw outside of

the secret of the sword I maybe saw three episodes

of She -Ra as a kid I never really paid that

much attention to She -Ra as a kid. I had a huge

crush on She -Ra I watched that shit every single

time it was on. Me too. Watched it all. Watched

them both. The hour of power every day. Yes.

Absolutely. So you know you fast forward from

87 when She -Ra ends begins, and they want to

reinvent He -Man, and they want to put him in

space. And I was kind of like, wait a second.

Where's Eternia? This is not my He -Man. What

the fuck is this? I seen the toys in the store

first, and I thought they were bootlegs, to be

honest. But it just happened. It looked pretty

bad. It just says He -Man in generic letters

on it. What is that? Yeah. That's pretty bad.

And the figures look like shit compared to the

ones like 10 years ago from it. Yeah? Yeah. But

it happens. It happens. I saw the intro to the

cartoon, and that was the nail on the column

popping to me. Yeah, that's pretty much the linchpin.

There's nothing there at all. It's bad. I mean,

it's - I can't wait to see your podcast and do

those episodes. I'm waiting for that. I'm still

waiting for October. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah.

Oh, yeah. Well, it's going to take us a while

to get to new adventures. I know that. Because,

you know, you've got what is 130 of classic filmation,

and then you get 93 of She -Ra. So it's going

to take us a while to get to new adventures.

But, you know, here at Geocaster Network, we

are launching in October, we're launching the

Powers of Greyskull series, the first podcast.

The first podcast in that series will be Tales

of Eternia. Yay! And he only announced it two

years ago, and I've been waiting since. He didn't

announce it two years ago. We announced it at

the end of last year, the beginning of this year.

Whenever. It felt like years. It felt like two

years ago, man. But no we're we're gonna be starting

that up and it's gonna be optimus solo myself

Reviewing every single episode of all four of

the cartoons Masters classic Shira new adventures

and Masters 2002 so Why is why is there no cost

for the 2013 Watchmen Club subscription Because

they probably don't know what to charge for it

Yeah, and there isn't a club exclusive for that,

is there? I don't know. Oh, I don't know. I did

not. I don't know. The total of six figures will

be released throughout the year resulted in the

collection of all six Watchmen team members by

year's end. Mattel worked hard to secure the

exclusive rights to these comic based figures

and will treat them right. Each one will be sculpted

by the four horsemen and compared. in articulation

scale and level of detail to our masters of the

universe classics oh interesting um let's see

benefits first ever comic early shipping yeah

there is not a exclusive figure so that explains

why early stone early shipping they told us that

two years ago of oh you subscription holders

are going to get your figures before day of sale

yet no no no they never said that They said that

they will be, you know, they begin shipping up

to two days before. Right, exactly. Yeah, that

doesn't mean that you're going to have them then.

Now, if I, I mean, if I sign because when I signed

up for it again, I was still doing reviews of

them. Right. So I if that would have been cool

because I would have been able to review the

figures before they go on sale. And otherwise,

it's just kind of a pointless kind of thing to

review things that are already sold out that

nobody can get anywhere. Mean, I think that's

I mean it kind of I mean I that's why even like

the San Diego Comic -Con Watch to review stuff

even though I agree I agree I mean it gives you

different kind of perspectives and things of

that nature, but there's I mean I've tried Several

times I know Mike has tried for me There is no

way in hell that Maddie collector is ever going

to let me review anything from them because they

probably hate me I think it's because you said

fuck you Maddie to him too many times on Twitter

I've said fuck I said fuck you to them so many

times. They actually blocked me on Facebook I

Cannot post anymore on Facebook for them, and

it's like fuck you Maddie That's probably what

it is though and my little rant or like my I

still think it's one of my best things that I've

ever tweeted about How did anybody ever actually

saw it or said anything about it? My translation

of Scott Toy Guru Nightlake's explanation, I'm

like, hey guys, I just flew in from San Diego

Comic -Con, and boy is it hard to fly with people's

heads up my ass. But I don't know. And on that

because as I said before, neither side is going

to win, whether it's Mattel or Hasbro. The winner

will be unveiled. If you sign up for a subscription,

we'll tell you who the winner will be if you

sign up for a subscription here to GeekCast Radio

Network. Yes. Do I get a vote? Do I get a vote?

No. Oh wait, subscribers will get a vote, but

we won't tell you how to do it and it'll be hard

for you to figure out how to do. Because we'll

have Digital River running. And Mahmood Ahmadimajad

will come personally to your house. I'm not going

to lie. You guys, Matty Rantz, entertained me

for years now. Seriously. It's sad that that

hasn't happened, though. Thank you. It's sad

that it has to come to that. Especially when

Mike here was banging his head on his desk. That

was my favorite one. That was priceless. That's

priceless. I should have monetized that video.

Well, yeah. You should have, but you're not that

bright. Fuck you. I know. I'm sorry. All right.

So that's going to do it for another Team Bottomless

Variety Hour, an hour and 40 minutes of pure
