About this Episode

The discussion covers the recent Wizard World Philadelphia convention, including a Q&A session with Stan Lee and the experience of navigating the crowded event as a VIP attendee. The conversation also shifts to the Transformers franchise, touching on anticipation for the 'Fall of Cybertron' video game, reflections on the 'War for Cybertron' campaign, and the challenges of complex toy transformations. Additionally, the group shares thoughts on the 'Dallas' series continuation, their experiences with collecting action figures, and general musings on retro pop culture.

The Bat Computer has been hacked and you found

the latest video from Octobotomus. He's actually

been quiet all day. He bugged me earlier for

something. I just I can't tell you what it was,

but he bugged me earlier No We're all old enough

to remember Dallas, right? Of course. It's coming.

It's all a dream sequence. Bobby's in the shower.

Who shot JR? Nobody. It was a dream sequence.

That was the whole thing. It went through a whole

season and turned out to be a stupid dream. Wow,

you know way more about it than I do. It's kind

of scary. Yeah, I remember a lot about the show,

but not when I first... Saw, like, the teaser

promo for TNT's new version. I was like, no.

No, no, no, no. They better not fuck this up.

And then I started seeing the actual trailers

for it, and I'm like, wait a second. This isn't

a reboot. This is a continuation. Oh, fuck yeah.

This new show is going to be awesome. Yeah, because

isn't JR actually in it, his robotic self that

he is now? I'm surprised JR's still alive. He's

had like what? Seven livers put in him now? He's

got a whole like closet full of livers that he

just puts in when he wants to. He's got a hatch

in his stomach. He just opens it up. He looks

like Bender. He just opens it up and shoves a

new liver in there. I'm JR! I'm feeling great!

Check out my boobies! Let's see, Larry Hagman.

He has to be animatronic. Animatronic Larry Hagman.

Just like Dick Clark was. I mean, he's been in

a robot for years. That's too soon. Too soon.

It's not too soon. I said it before he even died.

It was never too soon. Larry Hagman is only 81

years old. So he's not too old. I mean, it's

not like he's, you know, a frozen over 99 year

old Ted Williams. But no, um, you know Larry

Hagman just he Okay, he was in I dream of Jeannie

After Jeannie was canceled Hagman starred in

two other short -lived series in the 70s. Here

we go again in the good life And then after that

essentially it was it was Dallas and he went

he went to Dallas And then after Dallas was over,

he went back to I Dream of Jeannie again. I mean,

the guy essentially... Made his career on two

shows. Well, right, but he's always been known

as JR Ewing. I mean... Oh, yeah. Every time I've

seen him, I've never seen him out of that character.

I've just never... And, you know, hey, some people

might say it's typecasting, but, you know, hey,

if you can, you know, build a career on one franchise...

And it lasts as, I mean, okay, granted Dallas

lasted from 78 to 91 and then it's been gone

till now, but still, I mean, they've done several

reunion things over the years and everything

else. I mean, I love that show. That show is

so, so awesome. I, between seven and 11 year

old brain, just absolutely love that show. For

all the wrong reasons. I cannot wait until until

this coming Wednesday. It's gonna be an awesome

awesome thing right there I just remember my

mom watching it I never really got into it, but

I think my wife and her mom used to watch Dallas

a lot my It surprises me a lot of stuff that

I go back and watch now because I'm like how

did my mom allow me to watch this like I you

know I don't want to get off on a tangent here

with with this and not take away from Dallas,

but Went back on Netflix months ago a few months

ago, and I watched RoboCop, and I'm like oh,

yeah How the fuck was I able to watch this as

a kid because that movie is so violent I was

taken to that in the theater And I actually had

nightmares about the dude who got all the toxic

waste dumped on him coming after me in the middle

of the night That's like the first time I showed

my daughter. She's just ready to turn 10 We watched

Goonies, you know a couple months ago and like

in the beginning it was on DVD So when Chung,

you know says the cuss word went in the beginning

of the car chase She was like always said a bad

word, you know, I was like, I never really thought

about it You know cuz it was part of my childhood

and it's like, you know seeing it from a kid

It's like I guess it really how did that get

a PG rating? I guess I could say the s word back

then and Not have a problem. Oh my god. What?

Greg Berger has been Odie for the last 30 plus

years. Odie? Like Garfield's dog? Yes. But he

doesn't talk. So? So he's been Odie for 30 years.

Think of how many dogs and cats Frank Welker's

done over the years. Yeah. Wait he was ripcord

Wow Are you gonna collect the new figures by

the way talking about GI Joe? Record you're talking

to me about collecting figures. Well any either

one of you. I don't collect GI Joe stuff I don't

either but I have one GI Joe I have one GI Joe

figure anyone want to take a guess as to what

it is The rock no, no, it's actually from the

25th anniversary line It's still on cards just

sitting on card sergeant slaughter no There's

like there's like like one character everybody

has to have if they want GI Joe figures Think

think about it for a second. Come on. That's

not that hard God Starscream. Yeah. No, no, no,

no, no, no, no. No, I don't I don't have a Cobra

commander. That's just I don't Nope snake eyes.

Oh, I was gonna say Mary Jane or where he gives

a shit about that mute bastard, huh? Snake eyes

is a badass. I always wondered what he looked

like He was all he's all burned up and stuff

underneath that so you look like dark man Something

like that. He's something happened to him when

he was younger between him and stormshatter and

he ended up all burned up and messed up Plus

you because he got beat up in the kitchen I'm

not counting that stupid movie First I mean I

saw it in the theater and I was like, how did

I just watch? Well, the reason I asked was cuz

you know, they pushed the movie back now cuz

they're gonna make it 3d and all that stuff But

the toys are still out. So people around here

are going gangbusters about that's not the real

story. They pushed it back The real reason hold

on here. Hold on because okay rise of Cobra for

me it gets Tolerable each time I watch it. I

like I can overlook it when I first saw it I

was like, oh my god, and I'm not that big of

a GI Joe fan I was always more of a Transformers

fan first time I saw rise to go where I'm like,

oh my god Fuck this movie Michael. They should

have been in charge of GI Joe and not transformers.

However when Retaliation trailers came out. I

was like this is going to be an actual good GI

Joe movie The problem with the pushback is number

one. They're doing it for 3d And number two,

apparently the test screenings were bad. So they

may go back in and change a couple of plot points.

I don't know. Apparently in the test screenings,

they kill off Duke like 10 minutes into the freaking

movie. And people are like, why would you do

that? He's like the main character. And I guess

when they first filmed it, they didn't realize

that. What's -his -face that Channing Tatum or

whatever his name is yes was starting to become

a bigger known star Yeah, they kill him off ten

minutes in the movie and pisses everybody off

Bigger known star you got to be kidding me Bigger

known so okay. Let's see. What else has he been

in? Let's see a Prostitute movie or a stripper

movie Magic Mike that comes out of the same fucking

day that GI Joe was supposed to come out on Andy

was in that horrible new version of 21 Jump Street.

But apparently people like that movie. I don't

know why. I need to hear this voice. Hold on

a second. That's a bad voice clip. I gotta find

that later. No, I am super stoked for the new...

Season or series for Dallas. That's so awesome

to have that back on TV I love it when people

actually pay attention to the old shows and bring

them back properly instead of screwing them over

I'm just glad it's not a little reboot because

we've had discussions about that and it's like

I don't really need to And a continuation of

a story. Okay, I can understand I can do it but

a brand new retelling of the exact same thing.

We all know No, thanks And see, you know, a lot

of people are like, oh, Amazing Spider -Man,

I'm not gonna go see that. Essentially, it's

the origin story again. It really, just from

what I've seen from the trailers for Amazing

Spider -Man, it is part of the origin story,

but it's not the traditional, it wasn't like

Spider -Man. where okay his parents are dead.

He's living with Uncle Ben and Aunt May. I almost

said Uncle May and Aunt Ben. Wow, that would

be weird. You know, he's living with them and

that's the traditional story. This new movie

that they're doing, granted it's only been 10

years since the first Spider -Man film, but it's,

you know, paying attention to what happened to

his parents and I really like that and I'm really

stoked for it. Everybody else is like, eh, whatever.

And it's not mary jenny again is it it's it's

with the other girl. It's Gwen Stacy. Yeah So

i'm willing to give it a shot I would have been

i mean i'm i'm definitely giving it a shot It

looks amazing but i would have been much happier

if it was felicia hardy aka black cat oh my god

I blame i blame jennifer i blame jennifer hale

for my crush on black cat So what else happened

this week just anything good Well last Saturday,

I interviewed Kevin Conroy. Yes, and I'm very

jealous about that, but I was having my own own

interesting weekend last weekend Yeah, I have

I have some really cool stories from from that

to share Things that I didn't realize were even

gonna happen So and then apparently because I

sent Paul Box of stuff. I didn't realize he was

gonna open on camera between him and mgo this

this last weekend I've gained almost 150 subscribers

I'm like like I think eight away seven or eight

away from 400 right now. I can't even hit two

Yeah, I'm flushing between like 191 191 191 190

and for like a week now But I did get my first

paycheck from Google so I was pretty I haven't

done that yet. I I was just shocked and it was

like wow I actually got money for YouTube videos.

That's it was kind of crazy. I Didn't expect

it cuz I only make like 12 bucks a month and

it was like it's never gonna happen I honestly

sent that stuff to Paul just because he said

nobody ever sends him stuff and I'm just like

I Got some stuff for him. Let me just send it

to him just for the hell of it I wasn't expecting

him to open it up on camera or anything else

video cuz I Haven't watched the second one yet

But in the first video as soon as you as soon

as he read the part of a letter where it said

rock steady and I'm like Oh god, I know exactly

what the pulse like well, I don't know what he's

talking about I knew when you as soon as the

letter said rocks that I'm like Yeah, I know

exactly what that is Like I when I dressed up

on free comic book day I got to choose like two

free figures from this bin. Right and one of

them was The the Justice League unlimited John

Stewart figure right that actually has some Fairly

decent articulation. I just reviewed it and The

other one was there was a rocksteady sitting

in there and he was decent condition and I couldn't

remember if Paul had rocksteady or bebop So I'm

just like what the hell so I just snagged it

for him and then the other thing I sent him was

the RID landfill the Walmart version from like

2003 the yellow version and he didn't even know

what that was Hopefully he figures it out because

it's not easy to combine them into the big robot

Just I thought I still had the instructions,

but I must have tossed them at some point in

time So that's all it was and it's just stuff

that I had here that you know, I didn't pay a

lot for Landfill I got him at a toy show Inbox

dirt cheap and I'm just like I Messed with it

for a while. I I had it on display for a while

and I'm just like, you know what? I Just I'm

just not feeling these guys. They've been in

storage for all this time And then when he said

in his you stream, nobody ever sends him anything.

I'm like, you know what? I said, I bet you he'd

like those cuz I just don't know what I'm good

with them Just liked in the beginning of the

video. He was like, how did he even get my address?

You know cuz he's real private and stuff and

I was like you idiot You sent him something so

your address would be on it. Yeah, I reminded

him of that He's like, oh, yeah forgot about

that Yeah, cuz I even told I even like texted

him on it, you know Cuz I was his number his

cell number and I was like dude you sent him

a package That's how he knows your phone or your

address He was like, you know in the video he's

like freaking out. It's like how did he even

know where I live? I Got it from JT Mitchell.

Yeah, it's like Bert gave it to him. Yeah Did

you see what JT Mitchell did the other day when

he got the evac figure from Paul he puts on Twitter

The highest bidder from the bottom is his address

And I said I wrote, you know, whoever the highest

bidder is for JT I'll knock $10 off of that price

and undercut him Give out a phone number too

Because we all know his phone number and it's

like, you know, it's pretty funny Just randomly

call him for no reason Evac figures not too too

bad. It's it's it's decent That I'll have a review

of up of it sometime in the next week or so it's

recorded I just haven't felt like anything. Yeah,

I just um There's no weapons. I mean if like

in hand, is it pretty cool? I mean, I seen and

when it's cool and he does have weapons They're

molded onto him. He's got arms and he's got cannons

in his hips that flip up And then he's got four

clip points so you can put other weapons on there

right now. I took the rocket launcher off of

Skull grin the generation skull grin and I put

that on his left shoulder. It looks cool up there

That was cool, I mean he's one of the last figures

that has the clip points on it go figure So he's

not bad. I mean, he's easy to transform. It's

it's it's almost a no -brainer But he looks cool.

So that's all it matters Did it actually have

instructions with it like a box? I just didn't

know It does because all the reviews I've seen

it they don't say, you know They just there's

a box and then actually, you know, it's open.

They don't actually show here's the instructions.

I Don't know why that means anything to me, but

it's just I'm kind of curious We're supposed

to be professionals. We shouldn't need the instructions.

Oh, I look at the instructions all the time.

I'm not the brightest guy in the world. And like

my first transformer, once I got back into it

and. It was Bumblebee from the movie and I was

like, how do I transform this? I need like a

blueprint or something. I wasn't smart. Movie

toys, you need a blueprint. It was horrible.

I was like, I can't really be this stupid to

not be able to transform this thing. The only

movie toy I really, really have a hard time with

is the Revenge of the Fallen Leader Optimus.

I need to set aside like an hour to turn him

into a truck. I could turn him into a robot in

like five minutes. But turning him into a truck,

I'm ready to pull my hair out. I'm like that

with the War for Cybertron Optimus. That thing

is horrible. It never goes in right and I can

never get it transformed right so it just stays

in robot mode all the time That's why I always

used to buy two one for one mode one for the

other there you go Because at my age transforming

stuff that's too difficult I'm too old for that

shit Was there news items, okay, there's the

SDCC thing but was there a news Someone said

somewhere that there's gonna be a skin In fall

of Cybertron for generation one optimus as yeah

Okay, I did see I saw that yesterday actually

I Just can't believe they're actually gonna have

like the Autobot city and when I seen that game

trailer. I was like, holy cow That's awesome

though. Yeah that He is just massive in that

game When he was I actually seen in -game play

and you're going and he's like in the background

and it's arm swinging and he's just like mowing

over like the whole half the planet just Okay,

let's take a minute to pause here because I'm

just going through the video game news on TFW

and I Kind of paid attention to e3 this year

without GTA 5 news I really honestly could give

a shit less but Transformers fandom has come

so far in its history follow Cybertron one best

in show at E3 oh yeah that's fucking awesome

and the game isn't even out yet no and people

are going like cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs over it

from like everything I'm reading like the fans

are all like oh my god Cuz they're giving like

crazy shoutouts to you know our generation. Yeah

It's crazy And I think with having a g1 optimus

skin I think people like Paul might actually

want the game because I know Paul has not been

a fan of the optimus design for war for Cybertron

and Like I said with giving it a g1 skin. Maybe

it'll make it a little bit better. I don't mind

the new There have been so many redesigns on

Optimus over the years. I'm, you know, used to

it by now. So. Oh, I guess Paul just posted that

tomorrow's show is going to start at 4 p .m.

his time, which is 7 p .m. Eastern. Yeah, that'd

be six o 'clock. Yeah, I totally missed it. Yeah,

I'm going to miss out on that one. There you

go. I'm looking forward to fall of Cybertron.

I am too. It's because I war for Cybertron. It's

just awesome. I had a lot of fun with that game.

I Don't think I ever actually beat it though.

Sadly, I think I got I got to that final that

second stage of the final Unicron battle after

he crashes and I just couldn't get past his dragon's

or tail Dragon's I think you mean you mean trypticon

Yeah, oh my god it took me I fought trypticon

for over a freaking hour before I finally beat

him I was ready to throw the controller cuz I'd

get him like three -quarters of the way down.

He cheap shot me with something stupid So what

I ended up doing was I found like places to hide

and I would just like take pot shots at him and

it took forever But I finally beat him because

you have to hit hit this one thing on him Then

you have to hit this other thing on and then

you have something else. Oh, come on Yeah, I

got in that final battle I got through the I

got through the first stage of it where where

you have to take the pot shots at him to get

his little Blasters or missiles or whatever it

is his missile silos. I got that done and Then

there's a giant crash because he crashes to the

planet and then there and then you have to do

all this stuff And it's like holy crap, and then

he keeps moving around and when he moves around

There's one part of the move where I swear to

God it looks like he is the fucking dragon Zord

from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers because he's

swinging his tail Yep, I He was a lot harder

to fight than when when he did the Decepticon

mission you had to fight Omega Supreme Now Omega

was a pain, but he was nowhere near as bad as

trypticon trypticon was just frustrating, but

I finally beat it just and the problem is At

least the problem I kept having with Tripticon

is I kept running out of fucking ammo Yeah Yeah,

you have to remember where all the ammo is because

you have to kind of run quickly and grab it before

he locks on to you and get in the cover again

and then I had to Memorize that entire battlefield

so I knew okay I've got about two seconds to

grab the ammo there and get over to there and

it was just crazy It was crazy. But even even

then the the ammo, at least on my game, at least

on mine, the ammo never recharged like that.

It didn't show up again. That was the problem.

Like once you got the ammo, that's it. You've

got it. Oh, for me, it kept coming back. Did

it? Yeah. You just might have been glitched.

It might have been. I don't know. I know that

I know the energon cubes kept coming back, but.

I never saw the ammo come back, I don't know.

Of course, it's been so long since I played the

damn game, so. But no, follow Cybertron, it's

going to be massive and is going to be awesome.

And in multiplayer mode, you build your own transformer.

You don't have to play with like, you can actually

make it whatever color you want it, whatever

design you want it. It's multiplayer is completely

new. for the next game and it's supposed to be

awesome. Yeah, I'm not a multiplayer person.

Me neither, but being able to make your own Transformer

and, you know, create whatever kind of look you

want and stuff is kind of cool. Did they adapt

that to single -player too, or is it just multiplayer?

No, it's just for multiplayer. At least that's

what G4, I was watching their live coverage or

whatever, and they only said it was all multiplayer.

Okay. No, I was going to say, if they move that

over, if they also put that into single -player,

that would be awesome. My friend is insisting

that I get a PlayStation 3. so that i can play

war for cybertron with them until the new game

comes out and i'm like i don't have the money

to you know pay my bills let alone get a playstation

3 and he goes oh i've got an extra one in my

house like you're not giving me a playstation

3 go i'm not i don't play games at all how do

you just happen to have an extra playstation

3 he uses one as a blu -ray player and the other

one he uses to play games ah okay Okay, then

and he's got a spare in case one of them breaks

he has a spare so he has three PlayStation 3s

No, he has two. Okay, only has two. Okay. I was

gonna say what the hell He's willing to sacrifice

one of them so that I can play war for Cybertron

with him and I looked at him said just get a

360 I got 360. It's all the cool kids have I've

actually this is I'm on my like Third 360 right

now. I'm on my still my first one when it first

came out, but it's been it's been fixed once

already my first my first one got They they actually

just replaced it. They didn't fix it. They just

sent me another one that one lasted for a long

time and Then my friends insisted that I get

online and and actually play them on Xbox live

because I never hooked up to it I never had a

need to I was like, well, I'm not buying it was

one of the older ones and so it didn't have the

wireless built -in So I'm like, I'm not buying

a wireless adapter for that's a hundred dollars.

It's stupid. I Said I don't have enough Ethernet

cable to call the way down to my modem. My modem

was three floors below me so what I ended up

doing was I did some quick research online and

I found out a way to jury rig my laptop to be

an antenna for the Xbox up here Using a crossover

Ethernet cable and some and some of the settings

it worked too I ran I ran Xbox live using my

laptop as an antenna Sometimes there's a reason

why my wife nicknames me MacGyver I was listening

to another podcast I listened to and they were

saying uh, because they were talking about e3

coverage and And they were saying that Xbox 360

is for college kids and newbies and people that

just want to have fun playing around with games,

whereas PlayStation 3 is for hardcore gamers.

Which it kind of makes sense because, at least

from what I've seen from my friends, all their

interactions on Xbox Live is... dude, I'm gonna

poon you blah blah blah all this fucking stupid

ass lead speak and I've never liked Xbox and

mainly the reason why I don't like it is because

it can't play the fucking thing is the Controller

is like three city blocks wide. You know what?

It's funny though. I can't use a PlayStation

3 controller. I just I Have a PlayStation 2 and

the controller is pretty much identical. But

when I go my brother has a Ps3 whenever I go

to play a game on his I'm fumbling with it and

I'm I've just gotten so used to the 360 controller

because that's what I've had for the longest

time I'm the one I've got now is one of the smaller

black units with the built -in wireless and all

that Right. So, I mean I got it on sale at Target

and used her discount. So I got it really cheap

It doesn't have a hard drive in it. I've got

I've got like a pen drive hooked up to it right

now I still have the old -school first first

round white ones I've only had the Red Wing of

Death once so I Don't play games that often.

I had this thing hasn't even been turned on in

about three months The last game I played on

there was Arkham City and I got through the main

mission of Arkham City I still have to go back

and play some of the side stuff and I just haven't

turned it on since then I Don't I have to get

into a mood to play the game and mostly what

I play is the Lego games because I can play with

my kids Yeah, so it you know, we're waiting right

now Lego Batman 2 comes out in a couple weeks

I'm hoping to have some money for it, which I

don't think I'm gonna so there we're gonna have

to wait off wait on that one, but Yeah, oh well

It happens Alright, so we're gonna take a quick

break and then we're gonna come back with Comic

-Con Philadelphia or whatever the hell it's called

now We'll be back after this So we are back and

if you remember last week Kevin mentioned Day

one. Yeah. Yeah day one of Wizard world Philly.

Yeah, and since then you went to day two and

day three so What kind of shenanigans did you

get into? Day two Started started kind of early

I mean I got almost no sleep between day one

and day two because I got home After I recorded

with you guys I had to go out my wife didn't

go home from that till about 2 2 30 in the morning

and I had my alarms set for 7 because I had to

get up Get showered get my costume on Drive to

Wilmington, which is 15 minutes away pick up

my friend and then a half hour back to Philly

so That that got done as soon as I walk in I

run into my friend Mike again who was who was

videotaping so I shot something real quick for

him and Then I saw my other two friends who also

had their VIP badges and I got online with them

Even though you're a VIP you still have to wait

till they open the convention floor But they

let us in about a half hour 45 minutes and everybody

else and the guy I brought with me He had to

wait on the other line and there was I actually

filmed when I was standing on the VIP line the

thousands and thousands of people that were online

for the regular line and The thousands more who

were getting their tickets Yes Saturdays at wizard

world are insane. It's almost Impossible to Meet

up with somebody unless you specify where you're

gonna be at or you have cell phones and you're

in contact, right? I Did run into mgo. We were

talking about that during our little break here,

but I ran into him almost by accident We talked

for a few minutes I introduced him to some of

the other guys from the area that he wanted to

meet and I never saw him again the rest of the

weekend Wow, that's how many people were in this

place and we looked for each other It just he's

like as he put it. It was a needle in a haystack.

You're just not gonna find somebody People I

didn't know that I was standing online with on

Friday I ran into like seven or eight times while

I was in there, but you know People I want to

see I would never run into So as soon as we got

in there I I told my one friend Hector Said if

you want to go to the Stanley Q &A We need to

leave this floor at 1030 because it starts at

11 Right, even though we had VIP badges. I figured

we have to wait online anyway to get in because

that was just gonna be a huge one Oh, yeah, and

so he said well, let me walk around for a bit.

I'll meet you back over here My one friend who

bought our VIP tickets didn't want to go to it.

So my other friend that I brought with me Said

well, give me your VIP thing. I'll give it to

him for the Q &A so he can go Because that guy

was online to get you know, all five Star Trek

captains autographs. Mm -hmm. So That's what

we ended up doing It was it was like man I was

going back and forth for like the first half

hours on the convention floor because then I

went over and talked to my friend Rosemary She

said that the only one five captain she wanted

was Scott bacula's autograph because of quantum

leap so she wanted me to ask my other friend

who was already on the line over there about

you know how much it was for the tickets and

all this other stuff and He ended up buying her

the ticket for Scott Bakula So I had to run that

back over to her while grabbing my friend Hector

and my other friend Bob on the way I'm doing

this all over cell phone So that we would all

meet down in the one spot so that we could make

it to the Q &A panel Right, and then we get we

got we we had to go like halfway down the convention

center It was it was like a ten minute walk from

the convention floor to where Stan Lee was and

Because we had the VIP badges we walked right

in and there were thousands of people lined up

to get into that theater we walked in and I was

three rows back from the stage sweet and My friend

actually got up and asked asked him a question

about Jack Kirby. So that was a cool one But

before it started they had do you guys remember

who wants to be a superhero? That's the only

did The guy that won season 2 the diffuser or

whatever his name was he was there he was actually

being the MC for a lot of the events in the convention

and Stan wasn't over there yet Stan's 89 years

old Stan gets there when he gets there so this

guy had to entertain us for a while and He was

running out of material and while he was running

out of material I shouted out You know, we have

five of the Star Trek captains here. Why don't

we just beam Stan over? Whole place erupts in

laughter and the guy almost dropped his microphone

when I said that and my friend Mike who was he

was actually filming the whole thing He actually

caught that on tape of me saying that he's like

I heard you. He said I knew it was So that was

cool we got to see Stan with the Q &A thing That

was actually kind of cool. Um, this one little

kid said to him I really want to just shake your

hand and they let the kid come up on stage and

shake his hand So yeah, that was good so then

after that we had some time to kill before the

next thing we had to do which was actually get

our picture taken with Stan and Went to lunch

did that walked around that's when I ran into

mgo when we were coming back from that and That

was finally when I was able to walk around actually

explore things it was going on some of the costumes

that were around things like that Mm -hmm. I

have a question for you. What? Um, did M go have

mascot with him? You know what? I didn't ask

him. He brought him last year. So I'm assuming.

Yeah, I just remembered last year He walked around

with him and I was like, you know, it's almost

like an entity of its own. I didn't know Me him

and mascot from last year Yeah, I actually had

the little Creek Creo Starscream with me the

backpack He never came out he was complaining

too, so I never let him out So we got our pictures

take a stand that was cool and then while we

were waiting for them to be developed there's

supposed to be two hours from We took it was

about three o 'clock So we figured about five

five five thirty. We would we would have enough

and we'd just go Get washed up and changed and

go get dinner somewhere Well, apparently because

Chris Hemsworth was actually there as well, people

had taken a lot of pictures with him earlier

in the day. Somebody stole 90 of them. Oh, wow.

So they had to reprint them, which pushed everybody

else's printing way back. So the convention was

already starting to wind down for the day. It

was getting late. I couldn't barely walk anymore

by this point. I'd been in this hot costume all

day. I had been drinking water and soda and stuff

like that and never had to go to the bathroom

because I had sweated it all out. And finally,

my friend says, you know what? He says, why don't

you and Bob go back to the hotel room? So I'll

give you a key. You know where it is. He told

me it was like a 15 -minute walk from where we

were. He said, go change into regular clothes,

hop in the shower, get cleaned up, and I'll get

the pictures. and then you guys can meet me back

here. So, Bob and I start walking away from him,

and all of a sudden, here comes Bruce Campbell.

And I'm like, there's like nobody around us either.

He's coming towards us, he had like one of his

aides with him. And I raise my hand and wave

at the dude. He fucking high fives me and says,

hey, what's up, man? And I just stood there and

shut off. I mean, I'm like, I looked at my friend,

but I'm like, did I just get a high five from

Bruce Campbell? He's like, yeah, I said, I didn't

dream that either, but no. I was like, oh, okay,

let's go. I'm not wanting to gush over celebrities.

I'm really not. It's just not my thing. And we

went back to the hotel room. got washed up. By

the time Bob got out of the shower, my friend

Gus had already texted me saying he had the pictures

and he was walking back to the hotel room himself

because, you know, he knew that we weren't going

to get back there by then. We were exhausted.

Right, right. You know, I showered, got changed,

Gus showed up, he showered and got changed, and

the three of us went and had dinner at Hard Rock

Cafe, so that was fun. And then when we just

walked... around philadelphia about nine thirty

and i said well i hate to be buskington but i

said if i don't get bed soon i'm just gonna pass

out right here on the street so they ended up

we ended up going back to the hotel gust gives

me an extra key to the room i go up to the room

him and bob you know sit at the bar for about

an hour i hit that pillow i was gone that was

it i was done so sunday i decided i'm not wearing

my costume It was too hot. The costume, by this

point, could walk around the convention center

by itself. That's how much sweat and dirt and

everything else was in it. So, usually Sunday

is, you know, it's a lot easier to find people.

There's not as many people there. But we needed

to get our pictures of Stanley. We wanted to

get a photograph. So we had to, as soon as we

walked into the convention center and we got

in for the day, That was the first thing we had

to do was go get an autograph. And I actually

got to talk to him for a minute and just, you

know, tell him he was awesome. And he told me,

I'm awesome too. Oh boy. I don't think Stan knew

what we were talking about at that point. And

then we were going to get our pictures with the

five captains. My friend had surprised me with

that. He's like, picture with the five captains.

He said, this isn't, this isn't going to happen

again. So you need to have it done. I'm like,

yeah. So we're alone, and they're trying to hurry

people up with them, you know? And everybody's,

like, all nervous with them. They're like, ooh,

ooh, ooh. They're all scared and everything,

because, you know, these people are apparently

legends. I walk over to them. I'm like, good

morning, everyone. How are you? And Kate Mulgrew,

Scott Bakula, and Avery Brooks turn around and

start talking to me. Like, oh, well, thank you

for coming to take this picture with us. This

is great. You know, how are you doing today?

How's the convention been for you? The people

who were getting ready to take the picture were

getting pissed. They couldn't yell at them. And

people are looking at me like, why did he talk

to them? How could he just talk to them? This

is how I treat celebrities. Like they're everybody

else. I don't care how famous they are. There's

a tip. Everyone out there goes to a convention.

Treat the celebrities like you would treat your

friends. Just go up. Don't say, hi, how you doing,

things like that. They respond very well to that.

I have done this for years now. Trust me. Don't

go up to them and fanboy on. They hate that.

Just say good morning to them. How are you? How

are things? And they're fine. They will actually

talk to you. So after that, I was finally able

to get away from having this. That was one thing

I had to do Saturday and Sunday was stand on

lines. I was getting sick of that. And we ended

up going to lunch. We came back and I ran into

my friend Mike again who was filming some stuff.

So I did a little interview with him because

he wanted to hear about some of the stuff that

happened to me on Saturday and things like that.

And then I ended up walking around. We were looking

for the convention because he had a press pass.

And he wanted to interview a couple people. Right.

So he said to me, he's like, you know, you're

here. You're going to be my cameraman for these

interviews. I'm like, all right, whatever. So

the first interview he got was with a million

dollar man, Tani Asi. So I got to be there. And

then the next one we got was Jeremy Bullock,

both himself. Oh, OK. And I actually got to shake

Jeremy's hand. We talked for a few minutes with

him before we actually did the interview. So

it was kind of cool. And I was actually not expecting

to be part of his... I'm breaking up. Or was

that earlier? A little bit, yeah. I hope it's

not my... I hope there's not a thunderstorm moving

in again. I always hate that. So that was pretty

much... After that we were kind of all just worn

out and we were just waiting for our Star Trek

actors to print up and I got home, it was about

5 .30 by the time I dropped my friend Bob off

and I'm just fucking out. Everybody just leaving

me alone for a while. I was so worn out I couldn't

move the next morning when I woke up. It's like

every muscle in my body was just stiff from all

the walking I did. What happens at conventions

and all that kind of stuff is you put in the

work to get the fun stuff and then you pay the

price afterwards. Yeah. Yeah, but it was worth

it. This is probably the most involved I had

been at convention ever. Usually I just lurk

around. At one time when I was walking around

by myself, I go past this one booth and Another

booth, a little bit away, had a radio playing,

and there were some Queen songs playing. At the

moment, it was Bahamian Rhapsody. And the one

vendor and the two girls that were with them

were actually singing, so I joined in with them.

By the end of the song, we had like six people

with us, all singing Queen songs. And they played

like two more Queen songs back to back, so we

just had nowhere. It's just some crazy thing

that happened. And we got like... I got like

applause and all this other stuff. They gave

me a free CD because they thought I was so cool.

I'm like, whatever. You never know what's going

to happen at a convention. But if you don't go

out there and actually do things, you're not

going to know. If you just walk around and be

shy and everything, you're not going to have

any fun. The whole point of the convention is

to have fun. Yep, exactly. So at that we're gonna

take one final break you're gonna hear a couple

ads and I'll come back with a rant that I have

to do now apparently Someone is now dead to me.

is, now this is not entirely Bob's fault, but

someone else earlier today, Mike Dodd from ThisWeekendGeek

.net showed me this newspaper clipping picture

of some moron in a newspaper out in wherever

the fuck Nickelback is performing in concert

about, oh. $45 for a ticket to buy you you know

whatever you know you buy your weight in Big

Mags or buy this or buy It's like I like the

band. I don't care what anybody says. I like

their music. I think that They tell fairly decent

stories in some of their songs. Yes. They are

a band that does the general You know stripper

song or alcoholic song or bar song or party song

fine whatever I've liked them their entire career

for the most part I've known about them since

about late 99, early 2000. If people don't like

Nickelback, I don't give a shit. That's their

prerogative. They need to stop rubbing the shit

in my face. Period. End of story. And I know

Paul likes Nickelback because he uses their version

of Saturday Nights Alright every week at his

Ustream show. part of the whole grunge thing,

but they're taking like a step back to Nickelback?

No, that's not at all what's going on here. First

of all, let me pull up some information. Well,

I know Bush played before Nickelback, at least

they're in Wichita right now playing. They're

on stage right at the moment. Right. And because

I follow the news and the news keeps tweeting

about it. Anyway, Bush played before them, so

I wonder if they like switch pick turns, like

one night Bush... Headliner and no no knuckleback

is the headliner The the tour that knuckleback

is currently on With bush and I think is either

and it's either Okay formation in 16 stone 92

to 95 all right, so knuckleback actually came

out in 96 so yes Bush was out before Nickelback

as far as the band's releases however from 2003

to 2010 they were broken up Bush left they came

back in 2010 with the Sea of Memories album so

Nickelback has been going strong ever since then

Bush essentially broke up I mean they weren't

touring they weren't making new music until two

years ago uh... so net yes nickelback is the

headliner that's just the way it is uh... you

know as far as uh... as As far as Nickelback

goes, like I've already said, I like them. I

don't care what anybody else says. Whatever.

I wish somebody would've never shown me that

dumbass picture, because I just don't like...

I've already said my piece on it. I don't even

talk about the band that much. Sure, I check

into them on Get Glue, but it's not like I'm

forcing me liking Nickelback down people's throats,

and yet all these fucking Nickelback haters out

there constantly... force it down my throat that

Nickelback sucks blah blah blah blah blah there's

only been one person my entire life that has

explained to me why they don't like Nickelback

without saying Nickelback sucks people just keep

keep saying Nickelback sucks Nickelback sucks

without backing it up and giving it a reason

if you don't like the music that's fine if it's

not your kind of music that's fine say that don't

just say the band sucks because you think they

suck back it up with why you don't like them

and I'm just so fucking sick and tired of this

bullshit. I mean, the band's been around for

a long time. The band's gonna continue to be

around for as long as they will be. And if they

end up breaking up in a few years, fine. If they

decide to quit, fine. Whatever. You know, I'm

just so sick of this shit. Alrighty. Yeah. And

I think on that note, I think we're going to

end the show because I have follow Cybertron

trailers I need to watch Yeah, that'll make you

happy that'll make you yeah yourself make sure

you release everything before you watch them

Before you watch them cuz when I watch they're

almost like a Kid in the candy store you people

out West are weird So, with that, this has been

Team Bottomless Variety Hour episode, I think

this is episode 22, yes, episode 22. I am TFG1

Mike with DarkDevious and SlimeblowerBob. Yes,

and we will catch you probably in about two weeks,

because I've got some Toycast stuff I have to

do on the next couple of Fridays, so we'll be
