About this Episode

The hosts and guests engage in a general discussion about the definitions and motivations of heroes and villains across various media. The conversation explores character arcs in series like Babylon 5 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the relationship between Batman and his rogues gallery, and reflections on different cinematic portrayals of Bruce Wayne. The group also shares personal anecdotes regarding their hobbyist experiences, including repairing Transformer figures and community event organizing.

You are watching Optobotamus. Ho! That picture

I put of Starscream in the little red wagon.

Yeah, I did That was funny He looks so sad Well,

he can't transform now on the show. So he's got

to go right get around somehow the little red

wagon works Speaking of figures from that show

I got my Takara version of first edition bulkhead

yesterday and It had a molding flaw And it was

one that you can't tell until you put it in truck

mode So you the person who sent to me wouldn't

have seen it in the package because you can't

couldn't see it in package Because it's hidden

behind the front doors in his chest One of the

hood pieces was now formed and I was able to

take Hair dryer to it and somewhat bend it back

into the shape. It's supposed to be it's not

perfect, but it fits better now You know, I swear

to god you're like the transformer MacGyver I

Took some baling wire and duct tape and now he

transforms just fine You got to learn how to

do this stuff you're gonna be in the hobby man

cuz something like that I can't just replace

real quick, you know No, so kind of hard to go

to Japan and get a new one Yeah, I mean he looks

great other than that one flaw But that flaw

is pretty much hidden in robot mode and that's

how he's gonna stay most of the time. So what

the hell? All right, let's let's go ahead and

get started here Hello and welcome to the team

bottomless variety our podcast. This is episode

16 our favorite heroes and villains I am your

host if you're Mike joining me is Darth devious.

Hello. Hello And we have mr. And mrs. Glimmer

the only way I say the only reason why I say

Glimmer is because every time I see Bob and Candice's

names anywhere. The first thing I flashed to

is not Gilmer It's Glimmer because I flashed

a friggin Masters the universe So we've got slime

blower Bob and we have yet to nickname Candice

at this point That's probably a good thing Sure

after tonight, we'll think of something I'm not

gonna say a word I'm scared So well, we have

slime blower Bob Lovely Why don't you introduce

yourself to everyone since this is the first

time we've ever had estrogen on this podcast

Hi, I'm the estrogen dose for the evening My

name is Candice Gilmer I am married to slime

blower Bob and I am generally a fairly normal

person But I am a girl and I do but I still like

heroes and villains and and comic books and things

like that while I'm not a comic book pro Like

some people I am Still somewhat savvy enough

that I can get around in this in a comic book

store and not look like a complete and total

dweeb or confused girl But no, I'm just kind

of a normal person. I write but I write romance

novels. That's my one of my many jobs. And I'm

just pretty boring except that I'm married to

Bob. And then you won't let him open Star Wars

figures. No, he does not open my Star Wars figures,

thank you very much. You see how she put my Star

Wars figures? You see how quick that was? Well,

they're hers. No, we're married, they're ours.

There has never been a question whose Unleashed

dolls those are. I mean, ever. No, they're yours.

I just love, and I'll have to go back on Bob's

YouTube channel and grab that video. I just love

how surprised he is. He's like, oh, hi, Candice.

What are you doing here? It's like, he got his

hand caught in the cookie jar. You are not opening

those. And do you want to know the really sad

part that was planned? Oh, that makes it even

worse that you revealed that though Yeah, don't

give away the secrets. That's like pulling back

the curtain and seeing there's a guy and not

the Wizard of Oz I'm sorry. I figured you just

told them No, I don't give away my secrets It's

gold Jerry. Come on So hockey must not be going

so well tonight Paul's a little pissed on Twitter

right now When isn't he pissed about hockey?

I got nothing on that one between between hating

on Maddie collector between transformer stuff

between hockey and Between talking about YouTube.

I mean that's the four main things that he talks

about Well other than that in his you know unusual

love for Johnny five Johnny five, that's a great

movie. I gotta say So before we get started can

I just get one quick thing off my chest All right

now Mike I showed it to you yesterday or I said

something bad on Facebook about how TFW is all

of a sudden on Putting disclaimers on there that

it's not official has brought the car products

They did that yesterday. They posted a new one

today and did not put the disclaimer. So I had

people tell me yesterday Well, well, you know,

they're just trying to cover their ass They're

just trying to you know, do what's right because

they have a lot of ties with Hasbro and blah

blah blah Well, then why do it yesterday and

not today that kind of defeats the argument right

there You know, I don't know what Tony Bacala

does with his website anymore. I don't know.

I mean, they've got so many mods and posters

over there. It's gotten so big in the last 10

years. I have no idea how that website continually

functionally runs. Um, I'm not even, I'm not,

I'm not even going to get into what a cluster

fuck the goddamn forums are, but the website

itself, I mean, do we, have we ever heard Tony

or any of the other people that help him run

that website say Hey, we are in bed with Hasbro

or to my knowledge. I've never heard either way.

Sure, you know, we can all assume that they are

well I'm friends with some some mods and some

former mods that live here in the Philadelphia

area Including Tony himself who lives not ten

minutes down the road from me and who has been

to a couple of our meetups, right? And one of

them did say to me last night that they do have

some really close ties with Hasbro. And I'm just

like, well, that's nice, but that's still...

I thought it was for the fans, by the fans, not

just, there's Hasbro, let's take a shot in the

mouth from them. Are you kidding me? For the

fans, by the fans, for the fans, right. I don't

doubt that Tony's a fan, but... If you look at

how that website is designed, that website is

designed to make him and whoever else he has

to pay money. All the ads, all the rotating,

you know, flash ads that he has, uh, which essentially

if someone looks at them long enough, you know,

you'll get epilepsy, sadly. Um, you know, cause

it's like, it's so just like, I know this is

bad. I know Paul does not condone this and a

lot. To a certain extent, I don't condone it

either, but the only time I ever go to TFW is

to go over to the forums to go to Dark Prime's

TF Prime thread and get the torrent for the latest

episode because I don't get the hub. The hub

is on a higher like right now I pay for basic

classic cable and 20. Meg internet service I

pay close to a hundred dollars a month if I want

the package that has the hub in it That'll be

an additional fifty to seven I'll be paying close

to two hundred dollars a month For essentially

only one additional channel that I want and all

these other channels that I'll never watch so

You know and even when the DVD sets come out.

I always obviously delete all the videos I've

downloaded whatever else and I have the DVD sets,

but I just even for news. I mean, you know, I

know Tia, you know, it's very rare at this point

in the Transformers fandom that I go there to

see what's going on. Yeah, like, you know, they

became like after after Dark of the Moon kind

of died down. TFWs toy news became third party

this third party that not bombshell this Hercules

that here's our site sponsor update from diamond

select or here's our site sponsor update from

big bad toy store here's this or here it's like

there's no i mean i know certain fandoms are

going to have you know lulls in news i mean look

at masters universe there's no movie coming up

you know sure there's there's the classics figures

and everything else but i mean there's really

nothing going on with that franchise and it just

at this point for me and my transformers fandom

i love All of the other us stuff that has already

happened as far as the cartoons. I'm absolutely

loving prime As far as anything else. I just

at this point don't give a shit Yeah, well, I

usually only go on TFW for two things one to

post any transformers video review I've just

done and then I don't even look at it after that

and then the other thing is to go to the the

meetup board because I run the Wilmington Delaware

meetup board and then I also do the Philadelphia

meetup boards because We alternate each month

that way. It's a little bit fair for all of us

in this area In fact, we have one tomorrow in

Philadelphia. So But that's about the only things

I look at on there I used to look at the you

know, radicons a lot sometimes I'll post in there

if I paint something but that's rare and then

I used to go to like The junkie on exchange to

see if I can get deals my friend Hector in Philadelphia

is actually the mod for that for the junkie on

exchange But um That's about it. I don't I don't

care about the news because most of it you see

elsewhere on the web Or it's even all over Facebook

nowadays before you can even get the TFW Well,

see there's a thing like, you know TFW has embraced

Facebook and Twitter and you know I'm I'm following

them just to see if there's any decent news that

comes out of transformers And I you know, I would

rather just click on a link in Twitter to the

exact news story I want to see versus scrolling

through Yeah, first, you know the main pictures

main page of news. I just I just don't care But

no, that's so stupid of them like post it once

and then the next you know the next day It's

a they don't even use it anymore. Why would they

have even done that in the first place? I'm looking

at the home page right now. We have there was

two things posted yesterday about Third -party

items and then there was one one thing posted

about third -party item. That's a big bad toy

store and TF source exclusive That doesn't have

a disclaimer on it one thing about Make toys

giant and green does have that disclaimer on

it. But then you come up to today you have the

make toys Mobine, whatever it is, which is the

their version of the fallen It's not on there

Then we come up again and at the top of the page

They have a story now about the make toys giant

green version box set available for pre -order

and there it is again. No disclaimer on it It's

it's inconsistent and I can see them wanting

to you know stay safe within you know with Hasbro

starting to bring the hammer down on all this

stuff, but Be consistent with it guys. Yeah,

that's all It's just nuts. All right, that's

it off my chest now I'm done. They must have

went to the school of Maddie collector how to

run a website No, I like Tony a lot, you know,

cuz you know, I met him a couple times already.

Like I said He actually filled us in last time

he was at one of our meetups of something that

happened because of The NJCC convention we have

around here the one that's coming up soon the

last one that they had There was a conflict with

another convention and the people at that convention

were trying to force Fran who runs the NJCC to

Give up his date that he had booked first at

that particular hotel Wow, and these guys were

doing it what the guy that I know That that runs

the other convention. It wasn't him. It was his

partner was doing some underhanded stuff to try

and force Fran out it backfired so they ended

up running their convention the same weekend

but at another hotel like like a mile down the

road and That one kind of blew up in their face.

They had like guests there. They had like a couple

people from Star Trek They had you know people

from Babylon 5 they had people from all over

damn place and They even had Davy Jones there

so like one of his last appearances and It still

blew up in their face. We had people coming into

the NJCC from the other convention saying how

much it sucked and It was so bad because of the

dealers were not making any money at the other

convention. Yeah, and somebody went to Michael

Zolotro who actually runs that other convention.

They smashed all the windows in his car Aw, let's

see, that's not... Yeah, we weren't happy about

that. It wasn't his fault, it was his partner's

fault, but still. Right, yeah. Yeah, it was crap.

Alright, well, we're gonna take a quick break.

You're going to hear some clips from heroes and

villains, and we'll be back with the topic. I

want a divorce! I want a divorce! The best years

of my life, slaving over a hot nest! And what

thanks do I get? You'll find your doom! All right,

so I came up with a topic this week for team

bottomless variety hour and because Paul had

already had other podcasting commitments where

we talked about the Batman 89 toys on toy cast

as you find people can tell Paul is not here

this week We did that intentionally I figured

why don't we talk about our favorite heroes and

villains. Now, this isn't a top 10 list. This

is just a general discussion of favorite heroes

and villains. I told Bob and Kevin and Candice

it could be anything from movies to TV shows

to books. It didn't really matter. So where do

we want to start this? Well... My thoughts I

would just wonder is what exactly would a hero

be and what is exactly a villain? You know hero

would be up G1 optimus a villain would be G1

Megatron That's the easiest and fast answer I

can come up with but hero Hero is somebody who

helps out society whereas a villain tries to

run society into the ground Villain is essentially

I want to rule the world Well, it is but it isn't

a villain isn't isn't even so much all of that

in my opinion a billion a villain is just as

much somebody who not necessarily wants to run

society into the ground or wants to Destroy the

world because they can or get money, but they

have a reason for what they do Sometimes it they

are just psychopathic and just you know are doing

it because they can And in other cases, they

actually have a goal in mind. They have a reason.

They're after vengeance, they're after this,

whatever. They've got something that is their

motivating factor just like any person would

have. Like I said, they could be psychopathic,

but at the same time, and because I'm a Star

Wars net and we already touched on the Star Wars

thing just a little bit, my best example I can

give off the top of my head is Darth Vader. Because

if you go back and look now I know a lot of people

don't like the the new trilogies But the new

trilogies really opened up a lot of what Darth

Vader was about and why he was the way he was

And when you stop and think about it the choices

that he made there, especially in Revenge of

the Sith Didn't have so much to do with because

he wanted to be the bad guy and rule the world

He wanted to make a perfect world for Padme and

his child That was his motivation. I mean he

went about it the wrong way You know and and

I mean and that's what makes a villain a villain

is they make the wrong choice Or they may take

the wrong way to do something, but they have

a reason Do you know what I'm saying? And and

a hero of course has the same reason as well

even whether it's a hero or an anti -hero or

whatever But they all have their same reasons

for doing you know what they do and why they

do it and I think with And this is just in general,

not specific to G1, but with Megatron now and

the way that Hasbro is handling the Transformers

continuity, you know, he had, on Cybertron, he

had different ideals than what the Cybertron

Council had, and I guess, you know, that essentially

could, you know, warring ideas. You know obviously

can cause you know, you know different ideas

can cause, you know disagreements and then eventually

You know to the extreme a war but back in 84

there was really nothing To say as to why Megatron

was the bad guy. He just was the bad guy Back

in the old days they didn't really go into people's

It was just, they're bad because they're bad.

They look bad, they're the bad guy. They're dark,

they're evil, they wear black. Or cowboys, they

wear white. Yeah, yeah. The white cowboy hat

was the good guy, the black cowboy hat was the

bad guy. That's all you needed to know. Yeah,

I guess we were simpler back then or something,

but now it's like, I want to know about that

person. Right. Well, but who is the most intriguing

in any movie, in most cases, who is the most

intriguing character? It's not the hero. Most

of the time it's the villain unless your hero

is like an antihero like Mel from Serenity You

know Mel was absolutely Captain Mel Reynolds

was the absolute Antithesis of the antihero.

He had no desire to do anything, but what was

good for him But yet he wound up making the choices

that would make him a hero Not because he wanted

to but because he did still have some semblance

some resemblance of a moral code But it's kind

of kind of like angel. He didn't really want

to be a hero He just when he got a soul he kind

of had to be the hero because he felt guilty

for all the bad reference you asshat I was just

gonna bring that up. I'm sorry. I know you love

angel as much as me and Candice do I was gonna

say about angel is that you know as and jealous

he did all these horrible horrible things and

They're really Even you know as many times as

I've seen the series, you know To me there really

wasn't there really wasn't an antithesis of he

wanted to go down the dark path He just was evil

at the time. Yeah, I mean, I know he got changed

into a vampire I know all that but like before

that happened And again, I've seen the series

enough times, but at this point in time, I'm

not remembering the exact details, but he got

turned into a vampire and became evil. I get

that. But before that, I believe... He was kind

of a wuss. He was like... And I think that that

was a lot of where his power came from, why he

did what he... the choices that he made. And

Jealous had always been kind of the beaten up...

The you know dirt guy the bully guy, you know

and and like any bully, you know I mean another

reference that Bob and I had spoken about this

week was Megamind Yeah Megamind is actually a

really great hero and villain story because you

have this character in it named Hal who is this

socially awkward? geeky little guy who Megamind

makes into a hero, but He decides to go this

other path because it just seems so much easier

to steal and be mean and you know and all these

different things and get back at all the people

who'd hurt him rather than to Be the good guy,

you know If you have you guys seen Megamind I

assume you've seen yes, I have I love that movie

I haven't seen it all the way through. Oh, it's

an absolutely fabulous movie. It's hysterically

funny The soundtrack is wonderful. Nothing else.

Just watch it for the music. Yeah But um, I think

you know talking about television shows J. Michael

Straczynski when he wrote Babylon 5 the arc that

he takes the character of Lando Malari through

is probably one of the most complex things you

could ever see and He's not really the villain,

but he is at the same time. He starts off as

being this really lovable guy. You just think

he's just he's the ambassador, but he gets drunk

all the time. He likes to have fun. But as he

gets embroiled in everything that's going on,

more and more evil things keep happening because

of his decisions. The entire home world gets.

bombed almost to extinction because of his actions

and he's actually standing on one of the ships

and you can see the pain in his eyes that this

is happening, but he doesn't stop it he just

keeps letting it happen and he just ends up just

going down this this slide to hell basically

because of his own decisions and In the end he

does get what he wants He becomes emperor but

He still faces his fate the fate that he knew

about all along where Jakar strangles him while

he's on the throne and that's exactly how his

life ended. He was on the toilet. No Throne on

his homeworld. Oh, okay Yeah, that was one show

we didn't watch so we don't know about that one

you should you should it is one of the test it

is one of the best science fiction Space opera

shows you will ever see every show every episode

connects in one long story for five years So

it sounds exhausting It's not it really is worth

the effort to watch through at least once Was

that the one we tried to watch the first 20 minutes

of the first episode? Someone told us it was

so good and then we shut it off No that that

was bow star galactica the galactica the naked

and I couldn't take I couldn't take The guy being

a girl or whatever. I don't know I started watching

the new galactica I got about two seasons in

and then they lost me because it just got I had

no idea what was going on Yeah, I just couldn't

take it. But um, have you guys seen the movie

unbreakable? Yes. Yes. Yeah See, and me and Candice

were talking about this the other day, and how

the bad guy in that movie, he was just trying

to find his opposite, I guess. He wanted to see

that he wasn't unique. He had to find the hero

to make him whole. Right. And that bad guy in

Unbreakable, played by Samuel L. Jackson, Is

probably, I think, the most vulnerable role I've

ever seen Sam Jackson play. The Glass Man. Yeah.

Mr. Glass. And he didn't say MF for once. That's

okay. There are plenty of other movies that he's

set it in. Yeah. Snakes on a Plane. That's the

only reason I wanted to watch it, just to hear

him say that. Oh, God. Get these MF 'ing snakes

off. Whatever. But, you know, it's like nowadays

the heroes are kind of like... Not really heroes

anymore people don't really care about them.

I don't know about you guys, but I always root

for the bad guy I mean like Batman, you know,

I want the bad guys to win. I don't know why

it's like Batman's so easy to take him out Why

don't you just kill him? I mean, but you can't

really kill him because then there what's the

point of being a bad guy? If you have no hero

to kill You know, it's like the whole story arc

of they need each other If you take one out,

then what's your job? You're kind of pointless.

You know, you can't really be a hero if you take

all the bad guys out. Right. And I know Kevin

wants to go in depth with this. I know Kevin

wants to go in depth about Batman, but I'm going

to give my thoughts here just quickly. Specifically

to the DC animated universe, Batman the Animated

Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited.

Batman Beyond as well, you know Batman Bruce

Wayne Batman played by voice by Kevin Conroy

and Mark Hamill's Joker There were plenty of

times in Batman the animated series the Joker

could have Offed Batman, but as you just said

Bob it he couldn't do it because the Joker understood

that Yeah, the Joker is psychotic as he was the

Joker understood if he got killed Batman What

would be the purpose of him? Right and and and

like I said a psychotic as he and they bring

it out and and I'm sorry Batman fans They bring

it out really well in the dark night in that

final scene with Heath Ledger dangling from the

rope and and him standing there talking to Batman

he he has a Wonderful little monologue that he

gives where he explains that in perfect You know

perfectly about you need me you can't live without

me because what would you be if you didn't have

me and the antithesis at least in the animated

version is Batman Beyond Return of the Joker

where in the flashback Joker did something so

horrible and essentially mutated Tim Drake Robin

into JJ And then had his DNA imprinted on a microchip

and comes back, you know, 80, you know, 50 years

later. And just, that just... That Batman and

Joker specifically, the Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill,

Batman and Joker throughout the entire run of

that cartoon series over the span is by far,

at least in my opinion, the best versions of

those characters. At least in cartoons. I agree.

And I actually think that they're better than

some of the movies. Now, Dark Knight was awesome,

and that was really good too. When I say that

the cartoons are better than the movies is I

don't count the Nolanverse. I count the others,

the originals. The Tim Burton stuff, and the

stuff that Joel Schumacher screwed up by. Batman

89 for his... Much camp as that movie has it's

it's not a campy movie, but it has camp in it

As campy as that is I still love that movie.

I love the portrayal that Jack Nicholson gave

the Joker at the time. Oh, yeah He's in my mind

Michael Kiefton and and the Joker Michael Keaton

is the best Batman in my mind. Candice and me

fight about this all the time. She likes a certain

other Batman. See, of those movies, I don't like

Michael Keaton because Michael Keaton to me was

too freaking flaky. His character was too flaky

to bouncy to giggly to you know Just to do did

it did it did it did it did it that to me to

me Batman? Personally, and I know you guys are

gonna give me hell for this I thought Val Kilmer

was much better because the Batman that I always

saw the Bruce Wayne that I always saw and when

I would read the comic books or You know watch

the cartoons or whatever. I always saw him very

stoic And Val Kilmer played a very stoic Batman.

That's not it, though. Before you go, Kevin,

hold on. I need to segment this because the way

I see it is that Michael Keaton, great Batman.

Thank you. OK, Michael Keaton, great Batman.

Not so great on me and Bruce Wayne, but he's

a great Batman. Val Kilmer tapped into the emotions

of Bruce Wayne. But was just a completely see

I I see kilmer as the flaky batman, but he was

great as bruce He was the great it great as the

character of bruce wayne and getting into that

emotional of his parents You know dot, you know

getting murdered and everything else. So For

me, it's michael keaton as batman and val kilmer

as bruce. That's how I see it with the two What

were you gonna say there um, I was gonna say

actually I like how Mike Michael Keaton played

I'll forget it. I predicted he was gonna play

Batman before I got in the theater two weeks

before we saw that movie I looked at my wife

and said this is what's gonna happen the movie.

He's gonna walk in and go hi I'm Batman and the

first line you see in the movie is Hi, freeze.

I'm Batman. I looked at my wife and dear said

I told you the only the only Two good things

about Batman and Robin for me was the Superman

line And the fact that Alicia Silverstone is

in the Batsuit. After that, that movie could

go to hell. It's been a while. Is that the one

that had the Riddler in it? Which one had the

Riddler in it? No, the Riddler was Batman forever.

Okay, that one I will always remember. Because

you know how Robin always said these corny lines

in the TV, holy frozen blah blah blah blah. Holy

rusted metal, Batman. Yeah, and he says that.

Holy rusted metal, Batman. And Val Kilmer's Batman

doesn't get it. Any just you know, they just

you know, they just look at it like it's just

there and I'm like, yes, he said it So I had

to give props to that. I always thought that

was awesome that they did that But they put it

put a shout out to the old TV show Well, um,

I will say this about Michael Keaton's portrayal

as Bruce Wayne Bruce Wayne has that is really

the disguise In Bruce's mind he sees himself

as Batman. That's he doesn't see himself as Bruce.

So Bruce is a caricature. He's he's got to be

Someone who throws everyone off the scent if

he plays it too seriously They might suspect

that he's Batman because he does have with money

to do that So he has to play it that way. He

has to be goofy. He has to be a womanizer he

has to be you know, a little flaky and you know

a little out there because It's all a deception.

Right. And I thought Keaton did that well. Kilmer

did it okay, but... Well, the difference between

the two movies is that between Batman 89 and

Batman Forever is that in Batman Forever they

were going more towards the emotional aspect

of Bruce Wayne. So, I mean, that's really the

differences. In the 89 movie there was really

no... Mean yes, there was the story of you know

how his parents got murdered and everything else,

but there really was no No real emotional depth

to it Yeah, and that's what they had in forever

see and I'm more of a comic book book Batman

fan because back in in the old days Joker actually

drove Batman insane and he got put in Arkham

and There's a shot in one of the books of Batman

actually shoving a like a plane of glass on his

hand because he's just nuts. I mean, he totally

went off the deep end because he finally gave

in to, you know, he's actually caused a lot of

the bad guys. I mean, he made the joker. Right.

You know who he is, you know, movie verse, whatever.

But, you know, whatever you go off of these bad

guys or the way they are is because of Batman.

Yeah, the only thing that I don't like about

the 89 film Outside of the camp that's in it

is the fact that they say well And I know they

had to do this for the audience to make it simpler

But to say that Jack Napier, which is essentially

an alias of the Joker. It's not his actual name

To say that he killed Bruce's parents, which

in actuality is not true Joe Joe chill killed

them But I get for you know marketing and and

all that I get that they had to do that for that

movie But still it is kind of inaccurate. Well,

I like how Nolan handed has been handling Batman.

I mean he gives it a realism that hasn't been

seen ever before in any of these Batman films

and That's why I like how he's not going for

any of the more super powered villains the ones

that that might survive something as Devastating

as a train crash or whatever. I Like how that's

being played But I like how he's showing up just

gets hurt and things like that What about what

Bob? But like the new movie, you know with Bane

Isn't he supposed to be like seven foot tall

huge like nine thousand pound, you know If you

play him in a video game you play against Bane,

you know, he's unbeatable He's like, you know,

it would be impossible in real life to make somebody

like that, you know Because the movie wouldn't

be much, you know, he just grab a hold of him

and break him in half and movie over I'm not

sure if the if the dark knight rises that comes

out later this year. I'm not sure if it's I Know

he went from as you know as Kevin said he went

for a more realistic thing I'm not sure if they

are using the venom. I think it's going to be

there, but it's not gonna be as we know it Yeah,

it's not gonna be like when he was with poison

ivy and you know, you know, you hit the button

and he's like super crazy strong Yeah, I don't

think that's good. I think what it's gonna be

is it's Knowing Nolan, it'll probably be something

where the venom enhances his adrenaline because

when somebody's adrenaline is going they can

do some amazing things and that's Probably what

it's gonna be doing instead of making him just

like this huge hulking monster that he is in

the comics How do you feel about them bringing

Catwoman back for their new one I Don't mind.

I Mean, I don't think it should have been Anne

Hathaway No, she's a little out there for that

Don't mind you know she's there I think Anne

Hathaway is actually very very talented I just

think she gets a really bad rap from people because

she did the princess movies Because she did Disney

stuff and she did, you know sweet she's done

Disney stuff. She did Devil Wears Prada You know,

I think she gets a really bad rap but I have

seen actually quite a few of her films and She's

actually very talented because when she plays

a character, you know, so many actors have like

that little tick That they do when they're being

really bad. They do this thing when they're being

really heroic They do this little tick or whatever.

They have these little ticks these little ways

of pulling a scene She really doesn't have any

you know, she it's she doesn't it's not she's

not like, um, what's his name? Like Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson who's pretty much the same character

in every single one of his movies Just sometimes

with a Scottish accent You know, I mean, but

seriously, um, you know Some actors are exactly

the same guy in every single movie like the guy

that's playing Batman in the new films I can't

I can't stand his voice his Batman voice is a

little that that's my only problem I have the

way Go ahead the way he plays the character though.

I do like He plays him very Very straight lace.

He's not taking crap from anybody And I agree

I do like that but I understand where Bob's coming

from because he uses that voice in every movie

he's in Yeah, because you have to like turn this

thing up You have to turn the TV up you're like

super loud to hear what he's saying and then

when there's a fight scene You like blow your

eardrums out. It's like dude. You're killing

me Did you ever see on YouTube this one guy?

Monkey and apple is an handle He has this fantastic

Video of the Dark Knight interrogation scene.

Nothing still makes me laugh because it's it's

he plays both Batman and the Joker in it and

He comes in to go and jokers like what? Are you

speaking bat? Is this what a bat supposed to

sound like? It's just hilarious The way I prefer

Batman is obviously in the animated form, but

even in the animation. Not specifically the Batman

DCAU stuff, but some of the DC Universe movies,

when it's not Kevin Conroy, it's kind of like

getting used to it. The only other person in

animated form that I think can voice Batman very

well to this point Is Bruce Greenwood who did

who voiced him? Yes Batman under the Red Hood

and he voices him in Young Justice. Yes, Bruce

Greenwood did a excellent job as Batman I will

I will agree with you a hundred percent on that

The other ones are kind of yeah And and even

Kevin Conroy because I don't think his Batman

voice fit the style of the movie Gotham Knight.

I hate Gotham Knight. It's so disjointed, it's

just not there. I mean, it just isn't there and

Kevin's voice does not fit that style of how

Batman was drawn in that movie. As far as Batman's

motivations as a hero or anti -hero or vigilante,

his parents got killed. He wants to stop crime.

He doesn't want that to happen to another eight

-year -old kid. Yeah But I'm trying to stop it.

He creates it right. That's true Some of them.

Yes, some of them know some some of the villains

are were there to begin with Yeah, I mean people

like Franklin and people like mr. Freeze and

people like Even regular mob bosses like Maroney

and stuff like that. Those guys are already there.

Yeah Well, it kind of goes back to what like

Candice was saying with mr. Freeze, you know,

he's not really wanting to be a bad guy He just

wants to save his wife. He loves his wife so

much. He's trying to find a cure Well that didn't

happen but that didn't actually happen until

that man made series because before that in the

66 showing in the comics I believe he was just

a jewel thief Paul Dini and Bruce Timm and all

those guys actually gave him, you know, created

a backstory for him that made him that emotional

character that you want to sympathize with because

he just wants to get his wife back. But before

that, he was just a jewel. It was, I mean, you

know, you could interchange him with Egghead.

You could interchange him with King Tut, anybody.

They did. They did. That's one thing they did

with Batman, the animated series was they created.

A lot of characters or existing characters, they

finally gave them a decent backstory that has

now become canon in the comics and I loved how

that happened. Yeah, don't discuss canon with

me. I'm not happy about canon. Oh, she doesn't

like the new 52. No, my issue with canon is I

was very, very, very upset now and this goes

back to Star Wars canon. This is a Star Wars

deal and I'm pissed at Star Wars about this because

the people who make the damn Halo games, they

have a writer that they work with and she's written

all the books that go with the Halo games. Well,

the people from Star Wars call her and they say,

look, we want you to do a book about the clones.

Do us a series about the clones. So she gives

them a pitch, you know, they give her some stuff.

She gives them a pitch. Okay, great. I'll write

these books. She wrote five of them and Then

the Star Wars the Clone Wars TV show because

her her idea that she went with with the clones

was that they were all trained because Jango

Fett was a Mandalore warrior wore Mandalore armor

Jango Fett was a Mandalorian So what he did to

train the clones, especially to train these,

I think they call them ARC, they're like upper

level clone troopers. You know, like special

ops guys is what they are. And anyway, they go

to train them and so to bring these guys in,

they bring in other Mandalorian warriors or Mandalorian

bounty hunters or whatever to train these guys.

So and so they have so it's very rich in the

Mandalorian customs and culture. I mean, to the

point where there's like there's like a she had

put up on this lady had put up on her website

a key code to the Mandalorian language because

there's man there's language. There's, you know,

all this stuff that she really worked really

hard to make these books. And then when they

made Star Wars, the Clone Wars, they changed

the entire Mandalore story. for that tv show

and as a result she had to they had to cancel

her book series because of the fact that the

tv show decided because she went with the original

Mandalorian um history and honor and the and

this is what they did is they went in and they

said well Jango Fett he's not really Mandalorian

he's just some guy that stole Mandalorian armor

all the Mandalorians you can tell because they're

blonde and blue -eyed that's what they did She

also made the store or the clones. She gave him

like free will like that. She had kids and got

married. Well, one of them got married and had

a kid or no four of them got married and one

of them had a kid But it follows this group of

about ten of them around for about five books

and unfortunately You never know how it's gonna

end because Star Wars decided well We're gonna

change this and Django Fett we decided that Django

Fett really wasn't an ant Mandalorian So it basically

threw all her books in the trash And this book

series was like one of the best -selling book

series they had done to this point, I think.

It was like one of the best -selling book series

they had done. And they threw it in the trash

because the TV show wanted to change something.

Blame it on Lucas. You know, the thing about...

I'm sure it's a case of the right hand not knowing

what the left hand's doing. Right, yeah. But

because it went to TV show, that became canon.

Well, they didn't want to kill the continuity

of Star Wars. What continuity the continuity

is you know start Star Wars DC Marvel and Transformers

those four fandoms the continuity is so a skew

I mean like between every other you know I give

Hasbro credit for trying to you know meld the

Transformers continuity is between the games

between the books between the cartoon and all

that but I Mean there's so much continuity like

even even with DC's new 52. You know Before that

there's so much continuity before that and same

thing with Marvel. There's so much continuity

over these, you know, 70, however many years

it's been. But the thing is is like, you know,

where do you start? So I guess, you know, I don't

know. With Star Wars, I would not want to be

a descendant of the Fett family. I mean, that

family is essentially cursed. I mean, you know,

Jango got his head chopped off and Boba Fett

got Fed to the mighty almighty sarlacc. It's

like he got out. Yeah, he actually got out. He's

alive He's still alive. He lived in the movie.

He got out No I pay attention to like the the

actual visual You know continuity it's like,

you know, oh this happened in the cause it's

going back to angel perfect example. I Loved

how they ended the series because hey, we're

gonna still be fighting on and then they went

and made that stupid Cut 8 issue comic series

and everything friggin changed. It's like oh

god. What have you done? I? Think we have a few

of those don't we yeah? Yeah, we do We got we

get we had a friend at the time that worked at

the comic book store So not only do we have them

we have them all with all the variant covers

Buffy Season 8 or whatever? Oh, Buffy Season

8. I'm sorry. Sorry, I got confused. And that's

all screwed, too. Yeah, that's screwed, too.

Speaking of Transformers continuity, look back

at G1. Just look at all the different origins

they had for Megatron just in Season 1 and 2.

Or the Constructicons. I mean, the Constructicons

had four different origins. That's crazy. With

Transformers, in the movie they kill Megatron.

for people that haven't read the books, he's

not dead. He went back to Cybertron, and he's

gonna call Optimus when he rebuilds it. They

actually were friends at the end of the book,

Dark of the Moon. Yeah, I actually saw that.

Yeah, so in the book, it's the original script,

Megatron goes, dude, I'm so tired of this, I

don't wanna fight anymore, I'm taking the Decepticons

back to Cybertron, we're gonna rebuild it, and

when I'm done, I will call you. and we can live

together in peace. He actually makes a pact after

they kill Sentinel Prime that he's tired. For

a second there, I thought you were talking about

the movie that actually matters, which was the

86 movie. I'm like, wait a second, he didn't

come back. No, no, I'm talking about Dark of

the Moon. Right. But in the book, he actually,

they make a pact together and he never kills

them. But what are they going to do? So how are

they going to play it off? Are they gonna make

a next one or are they gonna bring Galvatron

in? It's just... I don't know. They have to have

somebody for him to fight. You know, Optimus

has to fight somebody. Yeah. I don't know what

they're... For me and Transformers right now,

as I said before... Transformers Prime has my

main focus. I don't At this point after you know

last year and and Dark of the Moon Dark of the

Moon is my favorite movie out of the three of

them because I think it was the The one that

was the best executed and told the best story

that it could tell out of the three movies But

I'm just so sick of hearing about Michael Bay

and movie this and movie that and movie whatever

so There's our villain right there So Kevin what

other heroes or villains Do you like as far as

stuff that you like? Well, I'm really like Green

Lantern He's probably my second favorite hero

though out of all the Green Lanterns John Stewart's,

you know the one I like the best I don't mind

how Jordan it's just that he's been there for

so long and Even with all these reboots and everything

else. It's just I John Stewart is One of the

best I also like Guy Gardner. I think it's because

they act outside of the norm for the Green Lantern

Corps As far as members of the core, I really

like kilowag Because it really likes to log kilowags

the man. Yeah, he is the man But as far as the

ones from earth, it's it's John Stewart and and

Guy Gardner. I like better than Kyle Rainer and

Hal Jordan Just for the way that they just don't

take any crap from anybody and I love that There

was that one comic where guy Gardner mooned Batman

while he was standing outside of the watchtower

in space As far as the Green Lanterns from Earth

it's because my first exposure like Like, as

a kid I knew about Hal Jordan because I knew

of, you know, I watched, you know, reruns of,

you know, the superpower show and suit challenge

of the super friends and all. So I knew about

the Hal Jordan character, but as a kid I didn't

care. As a kid I liked Superman and I liked Batman.

I didn't care about, you know, Green Lantern

or whatever else. Even though in that show, the

dumbest, dumbest weekly plot line... What can

Darkseid do this week to try to get in Wonder

Woman's pants? I'm Darkseid! As far as the Green

Lanterns of Earth, I first got introduced to

Jon Stewart. I love him. I love seeing his adventures

in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.

And I like Kyle Rayner simply because Kyle is

one of those dreamers. He's he's one of those

One of those people that imagine a lot of things

And I just like seeing him. Um I do like the

appearance of Hal Jordan in the alternate uh

future. Um, oh god, uh once and future thing

part two. I like that That is a great episode.

Um But I just like for me Hal Jordan is everywhere

at this point I I liked Angel voicing him in

New Frontier. David Boreanis voiced him in Justice

League New Frontier. I liked that. I don't mind

Josh Keaton voicing him in the new animated series.

I think that's okay. But I think where GL jumped

the shark, at least Hal anyway jumped the shark

for me, was getting Van Wilder to play him in

the movie. I did not mind that movie. I saw it.

I saw it out of midnight screening when it came

out. I enjoyed it But I went in I went into it

thinking this is just gonna be a popcorn movie

I didn't try to overanalyze it. I just went in

there to enjoy it You know what's really sad

is see I never really liked Green Lantern and

I never knew very much about him and I didn't

so I didn't get him so my first real exposure

was to watch Green Lantern I don't know how many

times I turned and looked at Bob and said His

freaking superpower is whatever he can freaking

imagine. That's just dumb! I did that I don't

know how many times to Bob watched the movie

to the point where he fell asleep because he

didn't even want to listen to me talk about it

anymore. It's just like when they turned a helicopter

into a car and she's like, really? What? Really?

They made it a race car and he's in a racetrack

from like the Hot Wheels racetracks when we got

hit with when we were kids. Come on, really?

That was product placement. You know that yeah

And I think the main reason why I was anti Green

Lantern the movie and I still have yet to see

the movie to this day I probably will never see

it unless it comes on FX at some point in the

future Is because in the very first trailer that

they showed they showed You know Ryan Reynolds

as Hal Jordan in the apartment and what they

showed all those apartment scenes where he's

trying to be comedic and that's where I made

the connection of oh god he's trying to be Hal

Jordan as Van Wilder from the Van Wilder movie

and I'm like oh my god and usually for me A first

impression on anything will sway me either way,

whether it's I like it, I love it, or I just

can't fucking stand it. And that's really where

it was. And it wasn't until I recorded about

the movie with a bunch of friends of mine for

another podcast. One of them said that after

the first 20 minutes of the movie, he and his

dad just walked out because it was so... To them

they didn't like it. It was so stupid. My problem

outside of it being Ryan Reynolds is that There's

so many other Stories they could have told for

the first movie than the goddamn yellow fear

monster Yeah, I mean that's that's you know,

why not tell the story of Sinestro's betrayal,

you know something that actually matters Well,

that's how the movie that's how it it ended with

Sinestro getting the yellow ring and that was

like Just just as the crew in the middle of the

credits they showed that and I'm like, well,

that's just sequel baiting now Yeah, pretty much.

Yeah, and I I honestly as somebody who didn't

know a whole lot about the the The franchise

and just didn't know a whole lot about the story

When I saw that I'm like I have absolutely no

desire to see that again. I just I just don't

I was just like I just don't have a whole lot

of desire to to watch it again. It just did not

appeal to me in the slightest. I just was like,

and some of it is I just don't like him. I don't

like Ryan Reynolds at all, but I just hope and

pray that somebody loves me and will actually

put Jon Stewart like the guy that has the TV

show on Comedy Central. Jon Stewart in the movie

somewhere just for fun. I'm a horrible guy. I

want to see it happen. It'll amuse me and that's

make it all worthwhile as far as villains Maddie

collector No, that's an evil corporation That's

different for Green Lantern villains. I really

love how Sinestro is I need to get myself a Sinestro

figure in the yellow lantern outfit because just

I always I actually like Sinestro when he is

still a Green Lantern Because he's still aggressive

and everything right and but he still looked

at as the best of the core and Then he just he

just turns on them and that's just it's like,

you know, here he is He's the best and he betrayed

you all and that to me makes a better villain

than somebody who's just insane what what's the

deal you guys might know but I was at Target

the other day and looking at the toys of course

because that's what targets for and I Saw a white

flash Green Lantern figure it was white. He had

a white ring on he was pure white but he was

that's from the blackest night brightest day

line Yeah, oh, that's okay. I was like why would

the flash have a ring on when he can already

run fast? He doesn't really need the green lantern.

Yeah, they did like a cross Yeah, it's it's wonder

what I don't know who else is it's Wonder Woman

flash Lex Luthor And a bunch of others, but that's

like a blackest night brightest type of thing

Green Lantern rings yeah Let me see you know

Again, sticking with super villains and all that.

Dark Side from Dark Side is one of the greatest

Superman. Well, right. Not not not only from

the comics, but specifically for me from Superman,

the animated series and then later Justice League

and Justice League Unlimited. Michael Ironside

was you couldn't get a Michael Ironside and Michael

Dorn playing off each other. I mean, that's just

priceless. You know. Oh, yeah. But no, you know,

Darkseid was awesome. As far as Transformers,

as far as some of the Decepticons, I always liked

Shockwave in G1, even though he was very underutilized

in G1. I loved him in Animated. It was so cold

and calculating and everything else. I loved

that about him in Animated. Soundwave at this

point... I... Shut up. I like him in Transformers

Prime. I know a lot of people have said, oh,

he has no voice, blah, blah, blah. That just

makes him even more of a badass, I think, because

it's its own continuity. It has nothing to really

do with G1. It's a cool design. But I love his

voice. Huh? That's the reason I used to watch

the G1. I loved his voice. Right, but again,

Transformers Prime is all about, you know, they'll

hearken back to the old continuities, but they

want to be You and Candice have kids. They want

it to be, hey, these 20 -something, 30 -something

year old geeks might have children, and they

might want to get their kids into a continuity

and let Transformers Prime be your children's

G1. You know what I mean? That type of thing.

So I don't mind. I would rather Soundwave not

have a voice than to have Dr. Claw. As much as

I love that they allowed Frank Welker to be in

the movies, I just wish they would have vocoded

it. Yeah, they should have. They did in the video

games. That's why I don't understand why they

didn't do it in the actual film. I don't know.

I don't know. I just can't believe you referenced

Go Go Gadget. Oh, God. Yeah, we're not getting

into panthro's arms. Thank you very much. Well,

you said Dr. Klawl, so it always reminds me of

that. What else? What other heroes or villains?

Bob, you got anything? Well, we kind of touched

on all of them, but I was trying to think of

a good hero that doesn't want to be a hero but

has to be because of circumstances. Spider -Man.

Well, Spider -Man, and I was thinking like the

Die Hard movies. You know he wanted to get back

to his family and stuff and he gets stuck in

a situation Where he winds up saving a bunch

of people, but you know he really I don't know

He's not really the hero type, but I guess he

winds up being the hero saving the world kind

of guy Yeah, but it's almost like he didn't that

wasn't his inattention He didn't wake up in the

morning going I want to save a bunch of people

and save the world you know like Indiana Jones

He wound up saving the world a couple times and

will never get credit for it because most people

have no clue that he You know save the world

from the Nazis having the power of you know The

holy grail yeah, yeah exactly. It's like you

know most people won't know that it's like What

really makes that guy think well? Screw it let

him have it. You know whatever you know I'm gonna

hide in this refrigerator and save myself Screw

everybody else, you know what what actually flips

that switch to make them a hero and I was trying

to think of series like The last person on earth

you would think would be the hero is actually

the hero of the movie You know defeats the bad

guys and all that stuff. I was trying to think

of different series And that's when we came up

with like angel, you know angel really, you know,

you take a soul away He's the worst enemy in

the whole world, you know Or like Spike, why

is Spike really the bad guy? It's because he's

jealous of Angel. You know, it's the jealousy

that drives him. Is he really a bad guy if you

make Angel bad? They were good friends again.

Oh God, I wish you hadn't brought Spike up. Because

now I have to go on Netflix as much as I love,

and I will be doing this as much as I love this,

I have to now go on Netflix after the show and

watch Smile Time just to get the fight. Yeah

When he first shows up in the series and he's

up on top of the building going, you know doing

monologue for what angels like saying, you know

Don't touch my hair. Yes Don't save me. I am

you know, blah blah blah blah. Yeah, I was rolling

cuz spikes hysterical, but he's not really a

bad guy I mean, he's really kind of a pansy well

He was for a long time. He was a bad guy in the

olden days. He'd get William the Bloody and all

that, but... Yeah. But nowadays, he wants to

fight Angel. He's jealous. He wants the Buffy.

God. Go ahead, Candice. What were you gonna say?

Well, I was just gonna say, you know, he was

a very dark character. When all he was about

was when he all he had was his lovely crazy drusilla

and was just out to kill slayers. That's what

he did You know, he had to prove because you

know, they called him William the Bloody not

because he was bloody They called him William

the Bloody because he was a bloody awful writer

you know, he was a bloody awful poet and He you

know want to you know he was kind of in the same

That's why him and angel meshed so well together

when they were when they were together because

they both were Out to prove to the world that

you know you all thought I was a wimp and now

I'm really a badass You know I really am a badass

and you guys just don't have no clue what I can

you know that kind of thing that vengeful spirit

and then Spike fell under the spell of that is

Buffy I'm sorry, I I did enjoy Buffy for a long

time and Then I began to realize got a little

older and I realized my god. She's so whiny.

I want to punch her in the face I stopped watching

that series at the season 3 finale The graduation

to burger You missed the singing episode? No,

I didn't care for the stupid singing. I hate

musical episodes and shows like that. That's

so friggin' stupid. But I must admit, I'm not

a big fan, but they did that well. No, it was

a good episode. I mean, I've seen it since then.

I didn't see it when it actually aired, but I've

seen it since that time. But I, you know, when

it was on air, I stopped after the third season

because that's when Angel left and Angel was

going to get his own series and whatever else.

And I just prefer seeing Angel versus Buffy because

I don't think I watched Buffy again until the

series finale. I stopped after the end of season

three and I never went back. I just, I had caught

episodes here and there, but I never actively

watched it from season four to season seven until

the finale because The continuity was just so

I mean convoluted. I mean there was so much stuff

happening and I just couldn't keep up with it

Definitely after the last few see the last few

seasons, especially it would truly was if you

did not Every week and pay attention to every

detail you would miss something but that's part

of what Joss Whedon does though. Yeah, he did

that with Firefly too You know, which is a great

show Which is absolutely fabulous if you have

not seen that but yeah, I've seen firefly What

Candice was saying about mouse character the

the main guy on firefly He's like almost like

an anti -hero, you know, he's he's going after

the big government ideal kind of thing But he

always pushes people away because he doesn't

want him to get in so he's kind of like He has

a dark side also He's not like the Superman,

like ha ha, I'm Superman. That's why I like the

movies, Superman movies, because he had a dark

side to him. You know, Christopher Reeve's character,

I mean, he was in there. You know, there was

a bad guy in there. Well, you know, I was listening

to another podcast, show I've been listening

to since about late 2007, called Earth2 .net

the Show, and they just celebrated their 500th

episode. uh... in in six years and their five

hundred episode topic was superman and there's

a bunch of different segments within the show

the show total time is like nine hours and change

for a podcast longest podcast ever as far as

i can tell that that that has been released from

anyone but its segments within its it it's not

like they spent nine hours straight recording

in its different segments different people and

part of it is three of the hosts reviewing Superman

the movie. And in that one of the host brings

up, you know, how did Superman know to, you know,

where to go to get to Lois's apartment? He either,

you know, as Clark Kent, he either, you know,

used his super hearing to eavesdrop on her or

he followed her somehow or he did, you know,

there was some way for Clark to find out where

she lives. So as Superman, he could go there.

Cause I mean, how else would he know? I think

he stalked her. He like flew up there and watched

her. Well, that's the point. Yeah. I mean that.

That's the point. And this happened in 1978.

This was before that crappy Superman Return shit

in 2006 where he was all emo and every other

friggin' thing. But no, Superman, you know, Superman

himself, he's... I know a lot of people call

him the all -American hero, but essentially he's

the all -Cryptonian hero since he's an alien.

But I mean you look at his rogues gallery, and

there's tons of people in there I mean there

are so many different versions of Lex Luthor

There's mainly there's Lex Luthor the mad scientist

from this you know 60s and 70s, and then there's

Lex Luthor the businessman I Don't know there's

just so many different facets to both Superman

and Lex and everything else and you know look

at what they did with Smallville like you know

Yeah, it was like his best friend and teenage

Superman that at the beginning Lex was his best

friend And then that didn't you know that went

south and whatever else And I see you know over

the years the different interpretations of Superman

I will defend them I will defend my liking of

this show till the day I die Lois and Clark the

new adventures of Superman that was something

completely different at the time when it came

out and You know Dean Cain was a great Clark

Kent and Superman and that show essentially the

show is a romantic comedy but it also is an action

-adventure show as well obviously but I just

actually love that show it's so it was a wonderful

show it absolutely was yeah I remember you know

my mom was my mom my mother was one of those

that watched in Dallas and you know things like

that and you know she was one of those women

and still is to a certain degree but by God when

Lois and Clark came on Man she could miss an

episode of Dallas and wouldn't be too upset Lois

and Clark man You do not jack with her Lois and

Clark and her quantum leap do not jack with those

My mother -in -law is like probably the coolest

lady. I know because she loves Star Trek Voyager

and That's one of our favorite series in the

Star Trek series Let me just let me just put

this out there why I hate Voyager Because every

time they would advertise an episode and you'd

see the teaser for it next week This happens

and then the episode would come and that's not

what happens every week. They lied to you What

in the heck were you watching cuz I never saw

that I watched them when they first aired I'm

telling you, that's what happened. That's what

happened. And Janeway was, you know, my favorite

captain of Cisco, so you don't, you don't. I

like Cisco. And I like, I like, you know, Sam

from Quantum Leap being a captain, you know,

they didn't give that show enough credit. Enterprise,

I mean. OK, you can't say a word because you

thought that show was horrible and you were never

watching. But I couldn't get over how they changed

all this the like the technology, you know They

made it horrible and it doesn't matter because

JJ Abrams rewrote all the Star Trek history anyway

And the new Star Trek is great. I love the new

one. I Know a lot of people didn't but I think

they did a great job at it Oh, I thought they

did a brilliant job and you know, god knows I

love anything with time travel. So But they had

Kirk. I mean, that goes back to Kirk didn't want

to be a hero. You know, he just was after getting

some poon. You know, that's all he cared about.

I mean, he just wanted to get in a horror's pants.

That's all he cared about. You know, next thing

you know, he's a hero, you know. Right. Well,

the one thing about the J .J. Abrams Star Trek

film is I love all of the different references.

Like that whole scene with him and bones and

bones just keeps injecting the shit This really

has nothing to do with heroes or villains, but

it has to do with Star Trek. It happened this

season, and I don't know how you guys feel about

The Big Bang Theory, but I actually love that

show. There was an episode where Sheldon sent

away for a mail -away Star Trek Spock standee.

And he thought it was going to be the real...

Captain Spock or the real Spock and one in the

Leonard Nimoy Spock and they sent him Zachary

Quinto. He's like, oh they sent me the wrong

one Maybe I can live with this and then like

five seconds later like sorry Zachary Quinto.

You're no Spock uh... you know last last week

i don't i don't know what this week i i don't

know if there was no as of this week but less

he he voiced uh... a spock uh... toy cuz he uh...

he very rarely does actual appearances as far

as being on television anymore as far as i know

i mean besides the star trek movie uh... Don't

think I've seen him on TV in years, but he did

provide he will do voice work and he provided

the voice of Tiny Spock which is a little Mego

toy Spock figure oh man You know when you look

at that Star Trek movie, and it was so well done

JJ Abrams did such a good job with it And you

know you can only wonder what's gonna happen

in the you know sequel that's coming up Con what

they're gonna do con. No, they're not I know

I Hope they don't Cuz they would kill it Just

leave it alone No, but here is a Vera villains.

That's you know, Kirk versus con Yeah. Oh, yeah

good good play on the bad guy good guy, you know

Without Without Kirk though, there wouldn't have

been a con, you know, he wouldn't have been So

full of hate and rage, but Kirk, you know, well

actually Khan Since he came from our time already

existed and he was already twisted because he

was this genetic Warlord, right? That's what

he was Kirk just made it worse Well, if there

was no Kirk the botany bay would still be floating

in space and he never would have gotten out anyway

Yeah, but he created this the the evil guy I

mean it seems like all the heroes have something

to do with the the bad guys creation I guess

that's what ties them together maybe um, I can't

really see that Kirk creating Khan because Well,

he found him and woke him up if he would have

never come up it Kirk didn't know that that planet

was gonna explode and screw up the other planet.

He had no idea that So I mean he Well that goes

back to what you were saying about Babylon five,

you know, the guy didn't know The choices he

made created all this evil things. It's like

they might not think long term. They're only

thinking here now They're not thinking well if

I take this action I could hurt a thousand other

people down the road. They don't look at that

I think that what is what makes interesting heroes

though. I mean You don't think They think they're

helping and then they find out that, well, maybe

not. If you look at specifically, I know there's

a bunch of continuities, there's Primus and everything

else, but if you look specifically at G1, Optimus

didn't create Megatron and vice versa. The Quintessons

fucked up by making autonomous robots and then

they had the consumer line and then the military

line. and all of that so i mean that's the one

instance where you know the hero and the villain

was created by somebody else um entirely without

you know having to you know batman creating joker

vice versa well actually in g1 continuity megatron

did create optimus prime because he gunned down

orion pax well and yeah he was rebuilt yeah into

optimus prime specifically to fight the threat

of megatron That's okay. Yeah, I can see that

there's a bad guy created the good guy. It wasn't

the other way around with a good guy. Yeah, yeah

You look at any hero villain movie. I mean it

normally it starts out Guy living and something

tragic happens like spider -man, you know, he

pretty much Screwed Harry over and made him turn

into the goblin, you know Well, he didn't really

screw Harry over he He killed his father. I mean,

that's... Well, inadvertently killed his father.

I mean, Spider -Man dodged something, and then

that something killed Norman. I don't know. He

didn't do Doc Ock, though. I mean, I guess that

was just a mistake. Whoops. You know, and he

became bad because the arms went... I mean, he

misjudged the inhibitor chip. Right, you can

say that he he did bring about Venom because

oh, yeah Originally Peter had the suit and even

if you go through the comic books, it's it's

a similar story he had the suit but he also screwed

over Eddie Brock at the paper and You Eddie Brock

already hated Peter Parker and then as soon as

he found out from the suit that Peter Parker

was spider -man You know, it was pretty much

Peter's fault that venom came into existence.

Yeah, right And it was pretty much Sam Raimi's

fault that it was Eric from that 70s show That

was a bad casting choice Guy Were you gonna say

Bob was saying with being an author Candice is

that how it works in the litter the the world

of writers dude Do you create a hero? And then

the hero kind of makes the bad guy. I mean, is

that kind of like just a main story arc of all

evil versus good? I don't know. It's not, but

a lot of times I don't think people sit down

and they create a main character, a hero, and

then turn around and create the villain to go

accompany it necessarily and say this person's

going to create that person or whatever. But

a lot of times you will find that they are tied

together, maybe not in the initial inception

of the character, but you do find it a lot more,

especially now, because people are smarter now.

They just are. And people do not like to be treated

like they're stupid. And so they like the more

complicated. Story arcs and they like people

things to be tied together but on the flip side

a reader is also going to be ten times more critical

than You know that I think than a TV then like

a television show or at least they It's probably

leveling off now because of wonderful things

like DVR and Hulu and stuff where people can

go back and buy entire seasons on DVD and they

can go back and read and watch the show again.

But in books especially, people will pick up

that book and go, wait a minute, you said back

here in book three on page 26, line four, paragraph

two, line four says blah, blah, blah, yet you

went against that over here, explain yourself.

You have to be really careful as far when you're

writing your characters to make sure that you

don't do that, that you don't... I was just wondering...

But you do find it a lot. Like Harry Potter.

I know everybody hates Harry Potter, but I like

it. No, I love Harry Potter. Are you kidding

me? You know, like, how Voldemort created Harry

Potter in a way. You know, he gave him the power,

but when he tried to kill his parents, you know,

and tried to kill him... He's the only person

that ever survived the curse, you know, Baltimore

right then and created the hero, you know Right.

Yeah, it's like so, you know he they're almost

always destined to either create their undoing

or I Don't know. It's just weird It's it's important

that they are tied together because if they're

not tied together in some way shape or form then

Why are they fighting? Why are they fighting

each other? Why aren't they doing other things?

And I also think that a you know, you were touching

on it a minute ago about a hero You know making

the enemies, you know doing things that they

don't realize will have the repercussions that

it does I Think that's what makes a really brilliant

story is that the choices that somebody makes

and What are those repercussions and what happens?

And one of our favorite series is Alien, you

know, the Alien series before they ruined it

with all the new ones. But Alien versus Predator

and stuff. Like Ripley, you know, she was the

hero because she had to be. I mean, it's not

like that's what she went out to be. You know,

she was an explorer. Found herself in a situation.

She worked for a company. Yeah, she just was

a freight hauler. Right. And then look, you know,

she saved the world pretty much. You know, Earth.

Mm hmm. A few times over. Yeah, not wanting to.

It's just something she had to do. Even when

they cloned her, she was pretty crazy. That's

a great movie, too, by the way. Because Joss

Whedon wrote it. Yes, Joss Whedon wrote that

if you didn't know that. I'm sorry. You can always

tell Joss Whedon films over anybody else's films.

I can. The dialogue is different. It's more jaded,

it's more sharper. If you think about it, whether

you liked Alien Resurrection or not, the dialogue

between those characters is very sharp and bitter

and smart -assed. And that's a sign of Joss Whedon.

Joss Whedon wrote the first Toy Story. The dialogue

between those toys, especially in that first

15 minutes, is complete Joss Whedon because of

the sharp way he wrote the dialogue. And it's

just part of his style. It's part of what he

does. And even Roseanne, I mean, he did the first

couple of seasons of Roseanne. And you could

tell when they change when he left the show you

could tell the dialogue changed dramatically

Yeah, I mean it was still good show and all and

and and stuff, but you could tell it wasn't the

same It didn't have that The wittiness like you

said and it seems like all bad guys have to have

a wit to them I mean they they always seem either

super smart You know you don't see too many bad

guys that are main bad guys that aren't just

like henchmen that are just dullards You know

it's like They always have to have a super intelligence

or they're just crazy brainiacs or they're, you

know, they're not just like average Joes that

are bad. You know, like they're always the minions.

You always have to have like a super brainiac

as a bad guy. You know, Candice was talking about

characters earlier and you have to, you know,

really watch, especially when writing, watching

how you have to, you know, write these characters

and then if you change anything, you're essentially

screwed because the fans are going to ask you

why. In high school and, you know, middle and

high school, I started writing stories and I

wrote this story where I had 22 pages. And...

I wrote like the first seven pages and by page

14 I changed the entire like the main character's

entire backstory and I'm like oh my god what

did I do and I just I found out that I will never

be able to write an actual full novel. I can

tell stories in you know free verse poetry more

than I can in an actual you know chapter book.

Oh, God. You know, we're saying about how, you

know, the heroes and the villains need each other.

There's one hero and one villain that I know

you're not supposed to you're not supposed to

understand why you're not really supposed to

analyze it because it's really, really fun. But

I don't understand why Dr. Doofenshmirtz is evil.

I just don't get it. Who? Bob, I don't know.

That's one I don't know. That's from Phineas

and Ferb, right? Yes, yes. And the only reason

I know that is because P .R. just did two friggin'

videos yesterday using that guy. Yeah. I've never

watched it. We'll talk about Dr. Doofenshmirtz

then. We don't do Phineas and Ferb in our house.

Why not? It's more educational than Bob allowing

the kids to watch the farting family guy video.

We're more of a fanboy and chum chum kind of

family. Oh boy. Which is a great show. We we

watch a lot of Spongebob here. Oh Oh, you mean

you mean Oh, I know stop it That's creepy That's

very very scary It's kind of like those old 60

shows when you go back and look at it, you know,

they had a different bad guy every week You know,

it's like And it was just they're just throwing

anybody in there to fight the hero has to fight

somebody, you know, like Knight Rider, you know

Knight Rider If you want to call him the hero

You know Michael Knight. He was there doing whatever

he was doing and then every episode there was

a bad guy and you never know why he was doing

it he was just randomly running into like uh

somebody getting kidnapped and he had to save

him or you know it was just kind of they just

threw it in there and it didn't make any sense

but people ate it up but nowadays i don't know

make it i have to school you a little bit here

like the a team okay a team i will give you they

well the reason why that happened was because

they were you know vigilante or not vigilantes

but they were fugitives from the law and they

were you know Essentially, they were a for -hire

service, but with Knight Rider and Michael Knight,

he had a mission to complete Wilton Knight's

dream. One man can make a difference, whether

that's stopping crime, whether that's recycling,

whatever it is, and just so happen to be stopping

crime. There are certain points - Recycling?

You just said recycling. Shut up. Shut up. Yes,

I just said recycling. Shut up. I'm going to

throw this tin can away and make a difference,

my date, and there's that whole half hour show.

So, but there are points in Knight Rider where

there is continuity in an actual story because

you have Garth Knight, who is Wilton Knight's

actual son, played by David Hasselhoff also,

and then you have the holes. Give him two roles.

Yes, exactly. But there is that, you know, Usually

it is, you know, what's going on this week in

Knight Rider and A -Team and Airwolf, but with

Knight Rider specifically, there are a few instances

of actual continuity in that show. Right, yeah.

Okay, uh, like, Incredible Hulk. Remember that?

David Banner just running around for no reason.

Yes. Today I'm gonna work in a grocery store,

and tomorrow I'm gonna be at Dennis' this incident.

And then I'm gonna turn into the Hulk and get

mad and save a kitty from a tree. And then they're

gonna play the sad piano music as I walk away.

As I walk away with my ripped up shorts. It's

like, they couldn't make shows like that nowadays

because people, like Candice was saying, they

analyze everything. Well, why is he walking around

going around for no reason? Why doesn't he try

to go get help? Go to the government. Dude, I

got gamma radiation, take it out of me now. You

know, go to Dr. Phil and go, hey, I have this

mental problem. I have anger issues, but I get

angry. That would so be your new reality show.

There's your reality show. Me and Oprah have

thought this out, Hulk, okay? He talks like a

teacher from South Park. He kind of does, and

that's frightening that you noticed that. Good

or bad, okay? Good or bad. You kind of scare

me. Hulk is nothing like Mr. What's -his -name?

He's talking about the way Dr. Phil talks If

you need a translation just let me know I speak

no, he's talking about the fact that Dr. Phil

sounds like the teacher from South Park, okay?

I thought he said a hulk so I was like wait no

no no Yeah, I was saying that if the Hulk nowadays

would have to go to dr. Phil and say I have anger

issues Yeah But like like Kenneth was saying

people were way too smart nowadays fall for that

lame Batman 1960s TV show Yeah, how's and it's

desperate housewives was pretty damn popular

and it was pretty close to campy I'm sorry. I

don't like Desperate Housewives. I couldn't do

it. I think I stopped watching after the second

season. I think Nathan Fillion killed that show

too. It was dead before he came around. It was

about a woman that was dead and she voiced over

every episode. Yeah. That was what it was. I

didn't know that. Yes, the voiceover at the beginning

of the episode is about the woman that died.

She committed suicide or something in the first

episode. Yeah. Did not know that yes, and it's

about these women in the neighborhood. It's just

yeah, whatever did they have a villain? It's

no no not really It's your standard ABC misdirection

type of show Jersey sure oh God don't even go

there Well, okay, Mike. Out of all the villains

and heroes of, like, you growing up or whatever,

what one did you actually connect with the most,

villain or hero? You know, because, like, it's

most like you, as a fan of, like, geekdom and

you have to connect with somebody. It's like,

that's how I feel. I know, I get what he's doing.

You know, it's like, I understand him. Did you

have anything like that? I would say that...

Would say I connect more with because I love

I love music and I love the music that I listen

to I mainly listen like rock music But I can

listen to almost anything except like rap and

hip -hop. I'm just not into that but I Would

say for for for my transformers fandom at least

you know specifically citing G1 Soundwave and

blaster because you know our sound wave blaster

and jazz because jazz also like to blast let

blare the rock music but blaster because of the

music and sound wave really because he was the

one that was finding out all the information

he was the one that was spying on people and

i am an information whore i need to find out

anything and everything i can about whatever

i'm interested in I mentioned on our flagship

podcast here at GeekCastRadio .com, the flagship

podcast is in the music spotlight for Nickelback

where it said that they had performed one of

their songs on one of their albums like two years

before it would even be released to the public

and I'm like I never knew that why did I know

how the hell did I not know this so it's like

I like anything that I'm interested in I have

to know everything about it was like when Bob

mentioned I'm like no actually I'm kind of like

the I'm you know I'm actually guy because it's

like That's when someone starts talking about

something that I know a lot about it. It's like

I know you're wrong For other stuff I like I

don't know, you know sound wave blaster and jazz

from Transformers I Would say Yeah, I guess Skeletor.

I don't know, I just, I don't know. Why was he

bad anyway? Did we ever have a backstory of Skeletor?

Like why he had no face? Was he born that way?

Well, in the 80s series, not really. There was

stuff in the comics, I believe, but I'm not hip

on the master's comics. In the 2002 series, in

the 2002 cartoon, He and Randor were, I don't

know, stepbrothers, half -brothers, something.

And then there was a battle, and Keldor had this

mutagen or whatever it was, acid or something

or whatever. And I believe it was acid. And during

the battle, Randor essentially batted the vial

of acid away. and it broke and landed on Keldor's

face, and that's why he turned into Skeletor.

So there is that. I don't know, it just depends.

Like, you know, someone I don't really consider

a villain, you know, grew from Despicable Me.

I mean, he is a villain, but he re - I don't

know, that whole movie, I'm like, I'm not getting

the villain vibe from you. Why is that? He liked

the girls too easy. I mean, it's a great film.

I've seen it a million times because my son loves

that movie. Yes. And of course, because of Paul,

you know. Yeah. But I didn't get that either.

I was like, OK, he's going to steal the moon.

But really, if he did steal the moon, I think

the Earth would. kind of explode yeah well that

was the point of the movie at the end was like

you have to put this back because the earth is

going to go boom i don't know um see now i thought

grue did but i thought grue to me it was pretty

obvious what grue's issue was was every time

he tried he was trying to get that motherly appreciation

from his mom that he never had yeah you know

he i think a lot of it was just that Mean, you

know because I mean incompetent villain though.

I mean he didn't really do anything, right? Yes,

he did he stole all that stuff that he had He

had that he'd stolen. He just didn't steal anything

majorly huge In that movie, there's no heroes.

I mean, Gru turns out to be the hero, kind of,

sort of. I mean, in the next movie, is he going

to be the hero or is he going to be the villain

again? I mean, there's no really all these villains

that steal things. There's no superhumans or

there's no hero. Well, and that may be the catch

of the next story. There will be one. It's like

Incredibles, you know, it's like they had bad

guys all over the place, you know, it's like

for every hero There was a bad guy, you know,

and they all had their own little wars going

on between each other You know, okay, but like

they created syndrome, you know, it's like he

created him Yeah, you know Through rejection.

Yeah. Yeah, he did it Now You guys are all talking

about all this stuff. I've been kind of quiet

I can't if we're talking about heroes and villains.

I can't not mention Thanos Thanos from the Marvel

Universe is probably my all -time favorite villain.

I mean But okay, he's what he's what huh? No,

you might want to explain it. All right Thanos

is He was born on on Titan the moon of Saturn

and he's one of One of the Titans from there.

He's basically immortal He has been killed before

but he's been brought back to life by lady death

who? He sort of has a crush on But he just can

never win her over You're not gonna win her over

one of the more famous things he did was collect

all the infinity gems and make the infinity gauntlet

which pretty much made him God and He snapped

his fingers and wiped out half the population

of the entire universe Including heroes and villains

alike it didn't matter and The heroes got together

they fought him now Thanos if you look into him,

he's one of these villains that Will always always

engineer a way for him to be beaten you can't

beat him unless he wants you to beat him and

Every single time he's been foiled. It's been

been through his own actions not through the

heroes Be defeated just because he's bored or

because he's so godlike. I mean nobody can really

defeat him He he's insane. He doesn't oh He he's

just it's just I mean he killed his own mother

when he was like six years old Like evil bad

guys, you know, they'll they always seem a little

off like insane Like you were just saying, you

know kill mommy probably he was when he was born.

I mean, he didn't look like everyone else He

was purple with a wrinkled face And it's just

you know He had all this natural power and he

would torture small animals and things like that

as a toddler and you know He goes and kills his

own mother gets naturally banished from his home

and then he goes around and At first he gets

the power of the cosmic cubes and tries to become

a god, but that wasn't enough for him He got

defeated was killed death brought him back because

she felt there was too much life in the universe

she wanted the population universe cut down and

Her own minions weren't doing it fast enough.

So she brought him back and He tricked her he

tricked her into allowing him to go out and look

for the infinity gems which were all held by

elders, which are these supernatural beings in

the Universe they each had him. He defeated every

single elder that had a gem took them all Death

pretty much rejected him because now He he wanted

her to treat him as an equal but she couldn't

look at him as an equal with the infinity gems

because he was her superior and she didn't want

to have anything to do with him because of that

and That's what he ended up, you know making

him lose was because he wasn't getting the infection

from her and He underestimated How much of a

fight the heroes were actually gonna put into

it, but he pretty much stopped everybody in The

universe that they were all attacking him He

snapped his fingers everybody just stopped and

he thought things out for a minute and then at

the last split second He left himself vulnerable

Got the gauntlet taken away from him and made

it seem like he had killed himself and then you

know a few months later They find him on a planet

just sitting there being a farmer And and that's

just and the last time you saw him was They had

those The Marvel the end series comics. I don't

know if anybody read those like like X -men the

end Wolverine the end things like that Hulk the

end was probably really twisted is the last being

left alive on the universe on the world and These

giant cockroaches would would eat him every day

and he would regenerate. It was just disgusting

Wow, yeah, that was that was a really twisted

comic My only exposure to Thanos was season two

of the superhero squad show Yes You really should

research the comic book version of him. He's

he's pretty twisted but the last time that he

was in the comics was it was the it was the end

series and it was just called the end of the

Marvel Universe and Thanos pretty much destroys

the entire universe and He's the only being left

and he just and he realizes at the last second.

I Shouldn't have done this And at the end he

sacrifices himself to bring the universe back

It's almost like that one story from Justice

League where Superman They thought he was dead,

but he actually got sent forward in time and

then Savage had wiped out everybody Yeah here

after yeah, and and Vandal Savage is like you

have to go back in time and stop me I really

shouldn't have done that Yeah, yeah, yeah Why

Kevin why are you so We know your favorite character

is probably Starscream. I'm guessing you just

you have a A love for Starscream. Why are you

connected with him, you know, as a kid growing

up and stuff? It's like, he always seems like

he wants the power so bad, but he... It's because

of the stuff he does behind the scenes. It's

the stuff Starscream does behind the scenes at

times. To manipulate things for his own needs.

It's a devious nature. What's my handle? Did

I explain to you where that came from a friend

of mine actually gave me that It was when episode

one was coming into the theaters back in 1999

Him and I wanted to give each other sith names

His became Darth boon because he has a lot of

gas And he said he said you're always one who's

doing stuff behind the scenes and manipulating

things to get what you want He said you're devious.

I said, well, I guess I'm Darth devious then

and that's where it came from and then I've modified

it if you look at my Last couple reviews a friend

of mine actually finally made me a picture that

has Starscream holding two red lightsabers There's

there So, why do I connect with Starscream I

do a lot of things behind the people's backs

to get what I need. Oh great. Thanks I am freely

admitted. I will do what I need to do To get

what I need to get done if I have to go behind

somebody's back to do it. I will do it I Like

Starscream in the cart in G1 But I think what

really turned me off about Starscream wasn't

anything about the character. It was just all

the fangirls just fangasming over him. Yeah.

And that's really what kind of like just pushed

me away from the Seekers and everything else.

I've always liked Skywarp and everything else

like that. But with Starscream now in Prime,

like, you know, no disrespect to Chris Lada,

but Bloom Starscream is the best Starscream ever

It's Good. I'm slowly learning how to imitate

that I think I got it in one of my reviews I've

had the voice a lot better and I was like, yeah,

that sounds more like it the first time I did

it in one of my reviews It didn't sound like

him and then I did it again. I was like because

I started watching prime more and I was like,

yeah okay, i'm picking it up now because i i've

always been able to do chris lotta's voice and

um Naturally, I can do cobra commander as well.

But well, it's the same guy. I know um So it's

and naturally I could do wheeljack really well

because it's also the same guy Yeah, which a

lot of people don't realize that that chris lotta

did wheeljack. He did spark plug people are like

Wait, he did wheeljacket spark plug. We thought

he just did Starscream with that high -pitched

voice No, he did those guys as well. Those are

not are closer to his natural voice, right? Yeah,

that's the whole thing with the voice actors

did they're acting they're not using their natural

voice Well, it's the same thing with um with

Don Adams I mean that you know get smart and

inspector gadget that wasn't his natural voice

That was his impression of William Powell from

the thin man movies back in the 30s and 40s What

you just use your superpower What you have the

oh your evil power of knowing every you know

nobody else would know in the world Yeah, I only

found out because of listening to Rob Paulson

and Maurice LaMarche on the Nerdist, so Which

everyone needs to go listen to the nurse podcast.

Oh my god. That is such great stuff Do we Candice

did you want to say anything about heroes and

villains anything else? Or do we want to kind

of wrap this up this week? What do you have a

connection with you didn't say if you connect

with a hero or a villain from your childhood?

Well, I guess probably the only one I could throw

out there and I because I'm a Star Wars geek

is Princess Leia And, you know, it's kind of

a weird deal because everybody's like, you think

Princess Leia was a hero and, you know, she was

a strong female? I'm like, but you don't understand.

In 1977, when that movie came out, she was a

strong female. She was a princess. Princesses

were supposed to be pretty and proper and, you

know, wear fancy hair gear and she had the hair

thing going on. But, you know, they're supposed

to be all these, you know, printed proper, you

know, Cinderella type people, but yet she picked

up a gun and would shoot people and didn't care.

You know, she did what needed to be done and

that you just didn't see at that time. And that

was a very, she was probably the only hero that

I ever, you know, the person, you know, character

in a story that I ever really, really connected

with. Well, her and Wonder Woman. It was her

and Wonder Woman. Yes, I was that little kid

I'm telling you my poor mom could not keep a

rope anywhere near my house Next door the truth

Would you quit tying up your brother quit tying

him up one of these days he is gonna knock you

down no he's not yes he will And he did later

in life just beat the snot out of me a few times,

but mom's like, that's just the roots. Cause

you chopped his finger off in a door. Well, you

know, I did that too. It didn't do it on purpose.

I was four and he was two. You know, what do

you expect? You created your own super villain.

I did. It's my brother. So what about you, Bob?

Who do you connect with? As a kid, I always connected

with the bad guys. When I collected G .I. Joes,

I always had a couple of the good guys, but I

always went after the bad guys. I had to have

Cobra Commander and all the bad people, and then

I would have them go kill Sardinus Slaughter

because I hated Sardinus Slaughter, so it would

be like 15 versus one, and they would just corner

them and just obliterate them. But even Star

Wars, I always with the bad guys. Darth Maul

and and you know Not Vader so much because he's

kind of emo for me But like it was always the

bounty Vader wasn't yeah. Well, it was always

it was always like the bounty hunters and the

bad guys I always connected with them except

for you know Transformers g1 jazz just cuz he

was a pimp but it goes back to my love of paranormal

because You know he was in he was in the shining

movie And then he voiced, you know jazz and all

that stuff. So I had a connection with with scat

man and That kind of why I love jazz is because

of the shining movies and I'm surprised you don't

have a connection to that bumbling Kung Fu character

Yes, yes I do yeah Hong Kong food. He was awesome

For the same reason but I always connect with

the bad guys. I don't know why it's like, you

know with the Harry Potter I I wanted Voldemort

to win I wanted him to kill Harry Potter so bad

that it wasn't even funny and Then you know,

I like Snape because he was the bad guy but come

to find out he was really the hero But not annoying

but he played the bad guy so well that everybody,

you know the way it was written, you know Snape

was He was the true hero of the story, you know,

he did everything for love But he wouldn't do

that. I get it. Oh God bad reference. Thank you.

I'm that's my superhero power In all my in all

my cartoons and boltron I always want to bolt

on to get blown apart. I don't know what it's

just wrong with you You know like with Power

Rangers back in the back in the day with the

green Power Ranger I always wanted to get him

really like bloody and just destroyed. I wanted

the bad guys to win so bad But you know, they

would they never did They would always go back.

I don't understand that one at all. I don't get

it. I don't get I don't see how you want want

something like that to happen Green Ranger. I

never watched Power Rangers. I couldn't get into

it Yeah, not my they're not my cup of tea. That's

fine. I'm not I'm not into too much. Um when

it comes like, you know Japanese shows like that.

Um Well, they fully americanized it. Yeah american

stories of it and you know, but still Yeah, it's

I'm not into that that kind of thing. I just

yeah, I'm not I'm not into a lot of anime either

I mean, yeah for me anime pretty much begins

and ends with the space battleship Yamato series

That stuff that was and then that's from the

70s from you know when I was right around when

I was born so I Love Star Blazers. That was a

great television show The live -action they just

did of the space battleship Yamato was awesome

Yeah, that that sent a chill up my spine watching

that Me and Candice were talking about like the

really sad 80s cartoons one day and and what

was that one that we Jason the wheeled racer

But he's heard of it Jason Mike goes all about

it. I'm sure I loved that those toys I was so

disappointed with the toys because they didn't

come with the little people Before we get off

track onto something else that isn't heroes and

villains I know we didn't cover every single

heroine villain obviously that we would be here

for five hours if we did do that so For the team

bottomless variety hour I have been joined with

Whoever wants to go first Darth devious Oh. And

me, Simon, or Bob. And your better half. And

his better half, me, Candace Gilmore. Yes, and

I am TFG1Mike, and we will see you next week.

I gotta turn on my webcam. I gotta turn on my

webcam. Can you hear me, guys? Can you hear me?

Can you hear me? I don't know! The sad thing

is you kind of sound just like him when you do

it like that. Oh my god. Oh god, no. I am...

It's a good thing I have selective mutism in

real life because I just don't talk to people

unless I'm on Skype or recording I just choose

not to talk and It's just one of those things

where I thought this week I would have lost my

voice at some point because by Sunday night I

will have recorded 20 podcasts from this past

Monday to this coming up Sunday Good lord Hey,

I gotta I gotta get that buffer going You're

overworking yourself Overworking myself. I don't

get paid anything. I enjoy this shit we just

like the reason why we started at 1030 instead

of 10 tonight was because We were interviewing

The guy that wrote the dark side of Disney Leonard

Kinsey. Oh my god. You guys got to read that

book It's so awesome. It's essentially a guide

for adults to have an adult vacation at the Disney

parks It's no I'm dead serious. It's it's awesome.

He points out all kinds of cool interesting stuff

You know where to have sex in the parks You know

how to get in for free how to do this how to

do that how to find a good hotel You know the

fact that there's a whole other level when he

found the utility doors of course a lot of people

know what those are now, but there's really no

markings on them but essentially it's it's this

underground thing where obviously where all the

characters go to you know get from one place

to another but it's like as long as you don't

get caught in the act of opening the door and

going down there you can go down there and you

know as long as you're not doing you know lighting

stuff on fire you no one will say anything to

you it's it's a very very interesting book that's

crazy so it's like pan's library underneath disneyland

essentially Know a lot of people hate this movie,

but remember Beverly Hills cop 3 never saw it

Bigly I own it and I never saw it. What does

that tell you? Too many movies Well, I got it

because it came in a three pack with the other

two and I wanted the other two. Yeah, okay It

I'm only gonna give you guys the kindle link

But no in that movie Eddie Murphy is at an amusement

park and he has to be one of the characters He

has to be I think oh god. Okie dokie. I don't

know what the hell the characters a giant blue

elephant is what it was and he goes down under

the tunnels under the park and When I was reading

the Dark Side of Disney book and I was talking

to Leonard, I'm like, this reminds me of Beverly

Hills Cop 3. Didn't say that in the interview,

thank God, but no, it's very, very awesome. Alright,

I think I'll just start it off professionally

this time. Wow, there's a first. Shut up. The

whole point of this show is it's not professional

at all. I mean, just look at, you know, Uncle

Ed last week. Oh, gosh. Yeah. And I swear, when

I was watching Beverly Hills Got 2 the other

day, I'm like, yeah, that's going in the show.

Hey, are you sure you want to do this? Because

the last time me and my wife did anything together,

there was a tornado. Well, just the way he said

it is like the last time my wife and I did anything

together There was a tornado and I'm thinking

oh boy. That's that's you know That's you know

innuendo right there. I have not kidding. I actually

had somebody ask me that today I texted my girlfriend

and two weeks ago I texted my girlfriend and

I write books and she always gives me crap because

I never do enough marketing. So I sent her this

text and I said, ìHey, I hope youíre sitting

down. Youíre not going to believe this shit.

I actually did marketing today .î She texts me

back and she goes, ìOh my God, I thought you

were going to say you were pregnant .î I said,

ìOh hell no .î Then today when you tweeted to

me, about the last time you did about the show

tonight, I replied, yes, I'll be there. We're

very excited or something like that. And I thought

it was a direct message because I got it on my

cell phone and it comes in as a text. So I didn't

add it back at you. So it posted on Facebook.

So there was this whole discussion between my

best friend and my aunt thinking I either won

the lottery or I was pregnant. That's that's

so funny, I'm like I'm like that is not even

funny a little bit I Was like no no I am so not

pregnant not by me Maybe Bob just forgot. It's

kind of like that episode of Dharma and Greg

where they were so tired they fell asleep in

the middle of it We haven't had that happen yet

Doesn't last that long That's so not right. Like,

the commercials never get off. I'm missing the

show, I can tell you that right now. I don't

mind putting stuff in the show sometimes like

this, but this is not going in the beginning

of the show at all. Hey, big guy. Need another

car. Afraid this last one ended up in the drink.

Spike. Look at you. Just turn around and walk

away. You're a - Spike! You're a bloody puppet!

You're a wee little puppet man. Ow! Hey, that's

enough. Angel, what the hell happened to you?

You look ridiculous. Get out of here, Spike.

Oh my God, Angel, you're a... Shut up! What are

you people looking at well They're looking at

the wee little puppet man Yes, I'm a puppet doesn't

mean you don't have work to do Harmony get my

call list Spike needs a car you were the puppet

Grr!
