About this Episode

An in-depth look at the frustrating business practices and logistical failures of MattyCollector and Digital River. We discuss the recurring problems with duplicate orders, subscription management, and the inefficient use of third-party shipping services like Newgistics that result in significant delays. Additionally, we touch on the recent security concerns involving the Transformers Collectors Club website and how those companies contrast in their response to customer issues.

You are watching Optobotamus. Ho! I need to rant

to somebody and I figure you and I are the most

vocal we are Unfortunately very vocal. I think

that's I know I honestly don't think it's unfortunate

because number one. I'm not I'm not bashing the

product well at least for masters. I'm not bashing

the actual figures yes, what I am against is

the completely inept and asinine business practices

What what happened now? Lord remember when I

told you the other day. This is about a week

or so ago, and I had two Shipping confirmation

yes, I do remember that right I had one for order

number, and I I don't care the orders are already

complete I don't care if people know this because

I am recording this already I Had one for one

zero two nine seven one zero seven nine zero

zero Okay, which was the February? The two subscriptions,

because I bought two, so I get doubles every

month. So it was my one order for two subscriptions,

so I get two figures of each. Then, the same

day, within minutes of each other, I get a second

one saying, your order number of 103 -149 -49000

has shipped. What happened was this all started

Monday, Tuesday, February 7th. Okay? Okay. I

forget if it was a Tuesday or Monday. Let me

actually look now. Yeah, it was Tuesday, February

7th. Okay. What happened was I was in the middle

of recording a podcast with other Masters fans

and dealing with the utter crap that is Maddie

Collector and Digital River. Naturally. During

this process, one of the hosts points out to

me, uh, say TFGO Mike, did you look at your cart?

Your cart has eight items in it. i was like yeah

i see that and in the cart it said you cannot

get your february subscription unless you complete

the checkout process because my order the 102

order number set in my account it said unsubmitted

so i thought going through the order process

would submit that one order number, but no, it

submitted a secondary order number. Now, this

was before, this was before Mattel or Matty Collector,

whoever, whether it was on Facebook or Twitter,

this was before they came out with that announcement

of, ignore your items in your cart. Remember,

it was for all that. Yeah, because that happened,

that happened like on the actual sale date. Sale

day, yeah. The 15th. Happened on sale day. Right.

Happened on the 15th, okay? This was before all

of that. Okay. So I was on the phone with Matty

Collector three different times, because I wanted

to make sure I wasn't going to get double charged,

and I wanted to make sure that they could cancel

the double order. And you know how they are.

Oh, we're a company that doesn't allow cancellations,

which is fucking bullshit. Right. Fucking bullshit.

You know, I get it. You order something, you're,

you know, you're locked in for that set amount.

But if there's a double order for the same month's

figures, come on, people. I called them when

it said order submitted for both of them. I called

them. I said, hey, one of these needs to be canceled.

Well, I'm sorry, we can't cancel it. Blah, blah,

blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I said, OK, well,

I want to make sure I'm not going to be doubly

charged. How? Well, hold on. First, I have to

ask. Yeah. In this double secondary order, this

is another subscription, right? Yeah. This is

eight. This is two weavers, two. So how is it

that they, for this time, they reopened the sales

of subscription figures? I mean, subscription

figures. No, no, no. It wasn't a reopen, a sale

of subscription figure. It showed in my cart.

I wish I took a screen cap of it so I could actually

look at it now. I would imagine it showed two

Fistos. Two Fistos and two Shadow Weavers. Eight

figures. Eight items. Okay, oh, okay. So I mean...

So basic... Okay, all right. Well, okay. Continue

with your story. Okay, so I called them three

different times between the 7th and the 12th.

Right. And they're like, I'm sorry, we can't

cancel it. And I called them when it said order

submitted. I then called them when it said order

in process on their, on their shop, on their,

my account page. And I know their account pages

were all fucked up this month. I get that. I

understand that. But, oh God, my head's going

to explode. Don't do that. It's just gonna explode

So I called them and said hey look here's a double

order this needs to be canceled they apparently

Said sorry, we're not gonna cancel it. We're

gonna ship it to you anyway, and then we're gonna

send you a You you submitted a return request

for one of these order numbers email. I'm like

you've got to be fucking kidding me They went

ahead and ship me four subscriptions. I only

bought two originally when I signed up. I only

bought two. They sent me four subscriptions and

they now sent me instructions for returning items,

for returning order number 102971 blah blah blah.

So basically they're sending me all this stuff

to then just return back to them. And I have

to pay the shipping cost to return it back to

them that makes no fucking sense. Well, I I I

See this is what this is what I don't understand

I mean when I said, you know, I mean you you

essentially ordered another subscription set

right for this month, yes, which basically It

should be impossible. I mean like you're getting

you're getting another shadow weaver Yeah, which

means Which is which should not be possible No,

I mean which which basically means that there

is somebody out there. That's probably not gonna

get theirs You know, I mean theoretically, I

mean, I'm sure they have extras but you know,

yeah I mean, there's no reason for that. Now,

the return thing, I mean, I can understand where

they say that they can't cancel it if it had

already shipped. No, no, no. Well, see, that's

the thing. I called twice. I called once when

it just said submitted, and then once when it

said order and process. I called when it still

said order submitted the very first time I said

one of these needs to be canceled. And they told

me, I'm sorry, we cannot cancel it. and then

it went through process, and then it went through

shipping, and I'm supposedly getting two boxes

of, I'm basically getting 16 figures. The original

eight that I ordered, the original eight that

I ordered, because again, it's two subscriptions,

so as we've said, two Weavers, two Sorceress,

and two Fisto, so. Well, that's only six figures.

What was the other thing the the two maps the

two maps? Yeah, but yeah, I You know what? I

mean, no, no, I know I know Go on here and look.

Oh, yeah, it's it's it's the two extra maps that

that's that's what you know, they list on there

That's where you know eight items comes from

right order, you know But I mean you're only

getting Six well, I mean technically twelve you're

getting twelve figures. Yeah, and you know What's

four maps? Yeah, you're good. You're getting

four maps now I mean here's the thing they sent

you this return thing. Yeah, have they have they

charged you yet? They charged me once for 9280

for the one subscription They haven't charged

you for the other set yet, right? So email says

hello Michael Blanchard Because if they put two

T's I said thanks for ordering from AtticLector

.com at your request We've initiated a return

request authorization this authorization will

expire in 30 days We want to make sure you're

properly credited. So please return the products

on or before the return date Below and of course

order number one zero two nine seven. What's

the return date? March 23rd Reply due by March

23rd, 2012. Returning product, club attorney

at 2012, subscription sorceress figure, quantity

two. Bundle use only, club attorney at 2012.

I mean, I know that, and see that's the other

thing, again with their whole tracking crap.

Yeah, you know the tracking is is so well. It's

terrible. It's terrible I mean especially with

that new logistics. Oh, yeah, well I actually

waited until Until I actually got a USPS tracking

number and what I did was I took both because

they are both separate tracking numbers I basically

took those yeah, and took them both went to USPS

calm And and and entered them both so I could

see both of them at once instead of going to

look at two separate things Right just I'm actually

going back and doing this now so I can check

the shipping because I know I know it's still

in fucking, Nevada Oh, yeah, I think it probably

is said that it's it's in it's in transit Yeah,

it's it's in trans. Okay On February 21st, 2012,

both have departed the shipping partner facility.

It says on here that it has delivery confirmation,

but it doesn't give me an expected delivery date.

Every time I've gone to the post office and I've

gotten delivery confirmation and they give you,

you know... Yeah, the Mandy collector one doesn't

give you that that's that's why you know I mean,

I think you and I have talked about this before,

you know You've asked me what the expected delivery

and I'm like it doesn't say I mean that's that's

that's just I don't know because New new logistics

or whatever does not ship priority This is what

happens if someone if you ship priority. I Believe

it'll put it'll put an expected delivery date

if you ship any other means I don't think it

does and I think new logistics ships something

less than priority mail. You can get delivery

confirmation on anything. You can get first class

mail and put delivery confirmation on it. That

doesn't mean anything. That just means that there

is a record that the item is actually delivered.

Right, exactly. But see, that's the thing though.

Priority automatically comes with that, I believe.

Right. Well, every time when I go to the post

office, even though I ask for priority, they

usually ask me, do you want delivery confirmation

or insurance? And I always tell them that I need

delivery confirmation anyway. Sometimes when

I've sent stuff priority and haven't asked for

it, they haven't given it to me. But the thing

is, like, it should... If it says on the USPS

website that delivery confirmation is attached

to these two tracking numbers, it should give

you an expected delivery date. I... Oh, God.

I wish I never signed up for this shit. I know.

I know. You've told me. I get it. You warned

me last year, but I thought after four years,

I thought they would finally get it fucking right.

Well, here's the thing. They didn't get it right

after three years. They didn't get it right after

two years. They didn't get it right after the

first year. You know, I mean, it's just perpetually

gotten worse and worse. Now, again, that being

said, you know, we have Scott Knightlick who

says that two to three weeks things will be fine.

So by my by March's sale, we should not have

any problems. theoretically according to him

90 % of problems according to him to quote him

yes percent of problems should be gone away yes

so again if that does not come to fruition I

do not want to be Scott toy guru I would not

want to be I would crawl into this hole I would

try my hardest To find that island, I'm lost,

and I would go there. I have no ill will towards

Scott. As far as the actual shipping and charging,

that's all Digital River. I absolutely agree.

He has no control over that. I have no ill will

towards Scott whatsoever. Sure, they're doing

certain things with 30th anniversary. That's

something we can talk about here in a second.

But it's just one of those things where... you

would think a company that wants continuous business

would actually have decent to good to excellent

business practices. And the fact that I'm calling

them and informing them that they double charged

or that while they haven't double charged me

yet, but that they that they show a double charge

or a double order, you would think that they

would be able to cancel the double. It wasn't

like I was asking out of my subscriptions. Right.

I'm asking to cancel these. It's it's essentially

I mean, it's essentially I mean, in my opinion,

it's a fuck up on their part because that should

not have ever existed for that for for you to

screw up. I mean, this is supposed to be an automatic

process that isn't supposed to, you know, I mean,

that's one of the perks that were, you know,

that that being said, you know, I mean, I was

going through the Matty collector forums yesterday.

And everybody knows that I have the Masters of

the Universe as well, plus I also have the Club

Voltron. Now, I was reading, you know, somebody

had, you know, because we were talking about

combined shipping, you know, and how apparently,

you know, I mean, I was like, I'd like to know

why I'm getting charged for shipping on this

one and charged shipping on this one. I thought

it was supposed to ship together. So, you know,

blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Now, I posted this

on their Facebook. And somebody had came along

and said that, no, no, no, no, no. You're not

going to see combined shipping until the second

time that it rolls around, which is because Voltron

is every other month. I'm not going to see it

until April, where my master stuff ships with

my Voltron stuff. And I was like, well, that's

stupid. That doesn't mean, you know, but somebody

actually posted the actual thing that Maddie

collectors said and They are supposed to ship

everything together the only time that it doesn't

happen Even in the first month it doesn't even

happen. The only time that it is different is

if you ordered two separate transactions Right,

or if you order like say you ordered Masters

and universe classics and then you came back

and say you added the Voltron one right in a

separate transaction The then that would not

ship together, but it would ship together the

second time the first month They would it but

if you order them both in the same transaction,

then yes, they're supposed to ship together So

I basically paid extra For my two things and

I I mean and I'm like, you know what? I want

to call them up and ask them But I just recently

like um like what did I put in on the thread

or whatever? I was like you know I would absolutely

love to call them and ask them about this But

I know they don't know anything that they're

talking about and I just recently dyed the gray

out of my hair I don't want to make any stuff

come back Yeah, you know what you know I okay

here. Here's the thing what I you know here's

what I'm going to do I'm I'm going to call them

and just tell them to stop the return process.

I'm going to actually sell the doubles for cost

plus shipping. They're going to charge you, though.

I know. Well, that's what I'm saying. I'm going

to sell the two additional Sorceresses and Fistos

at $28 .70 apiece for four figures. If people

buy them, that's $114 .80. I will have enough

to cover that. that second charge and the the

extra shadow weavers my plan is to sell them

to a guy who uh... who has two boys who he he's

gotten his boys into Masters of the Universe

and what he does is his name is James Sawyer

uh... he runs uh... M02 figures James Sawyer

that was the name of the guy that was the name

of uh... the guy on Lost Oh, I don't know. I've

never watched Lost. I had never had any interest

in that show. It's a good show. Anyways. Anyways.

Wait a minute. You watch like Alcatraz, right?

Yeah, but Alcatraz is so much better than Lost.

Well, technically Alcatraz is an island, but

it's not an island in the middle of nowhere.

It's like right next to a city. Anyway, we're

getting off topic here. Go ahead. Let me finish

this first, and then we can get off topic. Sure.

So the guy that runs... MOTUCfigures .com he

has two boys, Blaze and Keaton. And every Christmas,

he and his wife, throughout the year, they buy

their boys one each of whatever figure that they

can find. So like one He -Man, one He -Man for

each, one He -Man for one kid, another He -Man

for another. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna

help the guy out because... you're not going

to be able to get Shadow Weaver on secondary

market for a decent price, let alone two of them.

I'm going to help the guy out. I'm going to sell

them to him for 60 bucks for the two of the figures

and just ship them out to him so he can have

them for his kids. And then the other ones, the

other doubles, I'm just going to sell, you know,

regular, you know, 2870 plus free shipping and

I'll make my money back to cover that. that that

second charge but I wanted to make sure that

they weren't going to double charge me now because

if they double charge me now I only had enough

money in my account for the one charge right

now I only have one charge showing so right oh

god it's a freaking nightmare it's like two months

into this thing and it's like Jesus you know

It's not even it's not even I mean you have to

go back to November, you know October November

of last year. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I know I

actually posted all you know this entire story

on on the Maddie collector Facebook page part

of it was You got blocked yet? No I've posted

so many things over there. I mean, I try not

to curse when I'm writing messages for customer

service on there, but one of the things I said

is, you people have, and this isn't all caps,

you people have the worst business practices

of any company on the entire face of this planet.

Joining Club Attorney was supposed to be easy,

laid back, and nothing to worry about. I'm two

months in the 2012 sub year, in which I never

bought the subs I did. This is a damn nightmare.

Get your stuff together, Matty Collector and

Digital River. I love MOTUC, but I'd rather pay

Big Bad Toy Stores marked up prices than deal

with you incompetent people. Yeah, I mean that's...

I mean, at least if you deal with, you know,

Big Bad Toy Store, I mean theoretically if you

had a problem with a figure or something, at

least they got decent enough customer service

that you could probably do something about it.

Yeah. Yeah, I mean... It's just, oh my god. I

mean, I will say that about Big Bad Toy Store.

I mean, they overcharge on figures and they definitely

overcharge on shipping. Well, they kind of have

to to recoup their costs, which is fine, I don't

care. With some stuff, yes. When it comes to

Maddie Collector stuff... They straight up buy

this. They have 10 people at their store. They

have 10 different accounts that go on there.

They buy the max of the figures. I mean, that's

what they do. So they're paying what we pay.

And naturally, they have to recover that cost

plus mark things up to make a little bit of money.

I understand that. That's fine. But everything

else that they get, it's like all these, I mean,

big bad toy store. I mean, let's be honest. popular

because of their transformer sales that being

said they have uh... accounts with hasbro so

they get cases of transformers at you know a

much cheaper price i mean they get them for i

don't want to see cost they might be given for

a much cheaper you know they've i mean if anybody

ever wants to see how much big bad toy store

really actually marks their stuff up All they

need to do is to go into their sales threads.

Whenever they have gigantic sales, basically

look how much they're clearancing things for.

It basically brings it down to what's retail.

Even if you go to the ones where it's like 90

% off, That's a little bit more extreme. Let's

say the 60 % off range. You go in there and that

is actually the retail cost for things. So you're

basically looking at Big Bad Toy Store marks

their stuff up roughly 60 % on a fair amount

of items. They get cases of stuff. They get it

directly from the manufacturers. So the manufacturer

suggests the retail price that they have that

goes along with it, the MSRP. But they obviously

don't pay any attention to it. So they definitely

mark the stuff up. Oh, yeah. OK. Well, let's

take, what did I buy from them one time? Take

Classic's Skeletor. OK. On Big Bad Toy Store,

that's $34 .99 before shipping. They charge for

UPS, it's like say, I'm just going to say $9.

I know it's somewhere between $8 and $11, but

let's just say it's $9. That's $43 .99 for a

classics figure. Now Mattel or Matty Collector,

whatever, they charge $20. Plus for me for the

shipping that I get is 870. So that's 2870. So

you take 40 Let's just say $44 minus $29 big

bad toy store is making $15 on every $15, uh,

you know in terms of shipping Plus figure. Plus

figure, yeah. You look at it. Like I said, they're

buying the figure from Maddie Collector. So they're

paying $20 plus they're paying for the shipping.

So let's say the shipping is going from California

out there. I'm just going to throw a round number

out there and say it's $10. That's $30. So now

they're marking the figure up just by itself,

$5. Yeah, because they're getting they're getting

it from anti -collector for $30 total shipping

plus the figure so they have to cover that cost

Plus they need to make some money. So there's

$30 plus $5 on top of that then they do you know,

then they do the shipping Which their shipping

is, you know terrible. I don't care what anybody

says I mean you can use I mean you could fucking

use priority, you know flat rate boxes for You

know eight dollars or something like that. I

use with With BBTS, I always use the UPS shipping

because it was the cheapest. Oh, yeah. Yeah.

What I'm saying, it's like regular. I mean, they

use UPS and it's like you or they use the regular

USPS. Yeah. For priority shipping. And they charge

you like fifteen dollars for that. Yeah, that's

ridiculous. You know, I mean, and I mean, it's

better to go through UPS because number one,

UPS prices. I mean, everything, everything that

you get through UPS is automatically insured.

You don't have to pay extra for insurance like

you do with the post office. The thing about

it is though, when I went through the club subscription

on Matty Collector, it's backwards compared to

BBTS because USPS was cheaper on Matty Collector

than UPS was. UPS cost more. Right. through subscription,

whereas BBTS, UPS, the three to seven day, three

to seven business day thing is like, like I said,

say 809 or nine bucks or somewhere around there.

Whereas as you were saying, they're priority

stuff. And again, it depends on how much you

order from BBTS. And that's why, that's a good

thing about them is they have that pile of loot

thing. But the pile of loot, depending on, like

say you have, Don't know five Transformers deluxes

and seven mighty mugs say you have like a huge

order Well, if you want priority shipping that

priority shipping is gonna cost you an arm and

a fucking leg for that order. No You know, but

the thing that the thing that annoys me, you

know Maddie collector, you know, I mean prices

increased through ups. That's fine. That's that's

okay, you know, but to keep prices lower they

switched to USPS. But it's not even, they're

not even using USPS. They're using... New logistics.

New logistics which uses USPS. So, I mean, you

know, price, the price, you know, stayed low,

but you added a middleman to it, you know, which

in turn screws things up. I mean, my figures,

my club subscription for master stuff, shipped

on, hold on, let me... Son of a bitch hold on

let me I have to look at my calendar it probably

shows on the 17th or the 18th wait hold on hold

on Well I I have you I have you on Skype on my

phone oh So I had to put you on speakerphone.

Let me look at my calendar here. Okay my figures

shipped from Ontario which I have said this before

is like you know on a good day like 40 minutes

from where I live yeah it shipped on the 17th

and it got to Sparks Nevada which is like nine

hours away it's just outside it's like a suburb

of Reno yeah it's way up there in Nevada yeah

and it got there on the 20th now the 21st it

is now left there and it's on route here, which

means I'll probably get it You know at the latest

Friday, maybe tomorrow. Yeah, but But not but

it's it's it's now taken a week Roughly a week

to get something That is 40 minutes from where

I fucking live! I know, I know, it sucks for

you. But it's, and it's so stupid for people

that live in California, that makes no sense,

because they're based out of California. I think

I've told you this before, it's hilarious, because

I've called up Digital River and I asked them

about this. And I said, explain to me why it's

gone from Ontario to Nevada to only have to come

all the way back down to Huntington Beach. Now

here's the thing. These people are so fucking

stupid, now I shouldn't say that, they're just

ignorant. That's an accurate term. They're overseas,

they're in India, and they're ignorant. Because

they look at that, they're looking at the same

tracking information as me. They see Ontario

CA, and they straight up have told me that it's

because, you know, it takes longer to come through

international customs. they thought that it was

on terrio canada uh... it's i should you dot

i'm like no it's on terrio california you don't

understand that on terrio california is about

forty minutes from where i live in huntington

beach california explain to me why it goes eight

hours north tap the now come nine hours back

down and they'll and they had no idea they had

no clue They couldn't explain to me that new

logistics or whatever they're called is based

up there. So what Maddie Collector does is they

ship their product from Ontario, California,

they ship it up to them. Sure, they ship it on

Friday, which means they got it on Monday. Let

me ask you this. Before you continue this, let

me ask you this. Do you guys have USPS offices

in California, correct? Oh yeah! Why are they

going through a fucking middleman when they can

just call the local USPS office and say, hey,

we have this entire warehouse of shipments? Probably

because it's cheaper to go through a middleman.

That's the only thing that I can think of. Again,

just like how they got lowballed by Digital River,

we'll do your customer service. We won't charge

you as much as anybody else who will probably

give you better customer service. They got lowballed

by new logistics to say, we'll only charge you

this much for your shipping of stuff. You ship

it up to us and then we'll ship it down to wherever

that needs to go. You don't have to pay for any

of that. We'll take care of all the, you know,

I mean, I've never heard of, I've ordered stuff

left and right, you know, but yeah, I mean, I

never did, I never understood that. I'm like,

even if it goes through USPS, I'm like, why does,

why does it have to go up to a sorting facility

in, you know, in Nevada? I'm like, I live, you

know, 45 minutes from LA. You're going to tell

me that Los Angeles does not have post office

sorting facilities? Oh my god. I mean, it made

no sense. So here's the thing. I think mine got

shipped out same day as yours did because my

tracking says as of yesterday, as of the 21st,

it said departed shipping facility, whatever

else sparks Nevada. You might get yours on Friday.

I probably won't get mine till Monday or Tuesday.

The two subscriptions that I initially ordered,

the ones that I have every month, I've got buyers

lined up that have either, at least for February,

have already paid me for these figures. And because

of this delay and everything else, I've had to

tell them, hey guys, sorry, it's in the mail.

It's coming to me. I can't do anything. So I'm

not going to be able to turn these around to

ship to the people that have bought them from

me until March 1st, which sucks because... And

see, that's the other thing. At Toy Fair, the

12th to the 15th, they mentioned, I think it

was Toy Guru that mentioned, oh yeah, by the

way, just to let everybody know, the February

subs are going to be three days late in shipping.

Why was I okay? Why was I sure okay? I know okay

the sale date was the 15th Which was a Wednesday

one we could go from today, okay? I was initially

charged on the seven one two three four five

six seven I was charged seven days before the

sale date, and then that dropped off I was charged

again on the 12th that dropped off. I hadn't

received any charges until the 21st, which was

yesterday, and it said it shipped it on the 17th.

I received a charge yesterday that it, you know,

posted to my account and everything else, so

it's all squared away for that one order, but

they sent me the two orders. So it's like the

entire month of February has just been one giant

fuck -up. Well, here's another thing. I'll one

-up you that on the 15th, When the sale date

happened, I ordered a second red lion. Right.

Mine still says that it's order in progress,

or process. From the 15th. Oh my god. I still

have not gotten it. And on that one, I did because

I ordered that extra. You know, in addition to

my, I've already gotten my subscription lion,

but this is an extra set. I paid for UPS shipping

on that, so I'll get it the next day when it

ships, finally. It still hasn't even processed

yet. I know switching gears to the other big

debacle with dealing with people and buying stuff

and all that. I know that the Transformers Collectors

Club has had a huge... huge issues with credit

cards being hacked and whatever else and all

this right that's horrible that is absolutely

horrible for anybody that that has happened to

you know that can easily be fixed though whereas

this okay i'm not trying to take away from what

that was but i would much rather deal with that

than have to deal with the incompetence of digital

river and maddie collector .com because it's

like these people as you said these people don't

listen I had one time when I was on the phone

with them this month I had to tell them the order

number three fucking times you know I mean it's

it's a bit it's a big mess it's a big mess I

just need to start shaving my head again so I

don't have to worry about gray hairs I'll just

be bald all year round might as well You might

as well. Part of the thing that bugs me with

the Transformer Collector Club, honestly, is

I haven't got hit with any charges yet, luckily.

I know some people have who have only used their

card for these purchases. You know, I mean, there's

obviously something going on. I think somebody

actually... I just saw this, actually, too. Let

me see if I can find it. The... Um... Shit. Where

is... I don't think I'm actually following...

Am I actually following the Transformer Collector

Club? I think I am. Um, ba -da -da -da -da -da

-da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da

-da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da

-da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da

-da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da

-da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da

-da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da -da - And

I don't know how accurate this is, but apparently

they're tracing this problem to a Fandango banner

that they had running on their site. That they

have now since taken off and not on their site

anymore. And I am looking, I'm looking, and I

do confirm I do not see any Fandango anything

on here. hopefully that is something that they

are fixing and you know they've they've already

removed that so but see that but see that's the

thing though TFCC went ahead and did you know

took steps to fix a problem right that collector

and digital river have not taken any steps to

fix my problem and they want me to fix it myself

by having to pay to ship it now I know I can

call Because as I've said before, my mail goes

to a business address because the mailbox is

at my apartment, the landlord won't fix them,

the USPS won't fix them, and I don't get mail

delivered to my building. Nobody in this building

gets mail. So it all has to go to this business

address. Because of the program because of the

HUD program I'm in so I can call that lady over

there at that office and say hey Look, I'm expecting

two packages. You need to refuse one of them

and it will go back to Maddie collector But at

the same time I'm thinking why not just accept

the stuff sell it make some money so i can have

money in my account for when they take that second

charge and then i can help this guy out for his

kids for christmas you know i mean i would rather

i would rather do the good samaritan route they

have to deal with shipping ship back to matty

collector all yeah i mean it it uh... i mean

i i i don't i don't um... think what you're doing

is a bad idea i think that's probably your your

best route It'll be the easiest one, and I won't

have any gray hair for it. That's very true.

Did you really have to dye your hair? Yeah. Are

you serious? You're only 33 years old, David.

I was gonna do that anyhow. Yeah, but I had a

lot of gray hair on like the side of my head.

I went and got my hair cut a couple days ago.

You turned into Mr. Fantastic. What's that? You

turned into Mr. Fantastic. Oh, kind of, but not

that bad. But uh, I mean it was it was just bugging

me I saw it, you know, and I mean it's nothing

it's nothing bad I mean, it's uh, it's that just

for men's stuff that targets all gray hair so

it's not like You know, I mean you can't even

tell really. I mean, it's it's just you know,

I I feel better and I know but but um But yeah,

so It's what happens when you get older sir.

At least I have a head of hair that I can still

do it to I'm like other people who get old, they

lose their hair. You know what? Honestly, I would

be happy if I lost all my hair and I was bald.

Honestly, it would be so much better than having

to, you know, you know, when I got my haircut

this month, I went in and I had the same lady

do it that did it the last time back before Christmas.

I'm seriously tempted to buy you. No. like a

shaver and just like do it yourself. No, because

I always end up screwing it up. Here's the thing,

I went in this month to get my hair cut and for

them to trim my beard up and all this and all

that. And you know, it cost me, and I don't mind

paying this because they do an excellent job,

their haircut and beard trim price is like 21

bucks. And I always include, you know, the last

two months that I've gone to the same place,

I go to Fantastic Sam's, I include a $4 tip.

just because I figure why not just have it a

$25 charge on my card and just be done with it,

whatever. They do a great job anyways. So I go

in and the same lady that cut my hair in December

is cutting my hair this month. And I said to

her at some point, and she's like, yeah, it's

been a while since you've been in here. Yeah,

I started coming to you guys back in December.

I said, I had to let a girl out. I had to give

you something to work at. Right. That's true.

But it's one of those things where... Honestly,

I wish I had you know some sort of disease not

not really disease, but some sort of something

that would just Make my hair fall out and just

buy Howard just buy a shaver yourself no Because

I end up screwing it up. How do you screw it

up? You you shave it like completely down to

like nothing right right? Okay, so you get a

little razor thing you know with you know, one

of the little, what do you call it, like the

little guard things on there. Right. No, I know

what you're talking about. How do you screw that

up? See, the thing is, the only time I can really

shave my head on my own is if it's like pretty

much buzz cut all the way around, like there's

nothing there, like it's a half inch of hair.

So if I want to get that, you know, shiny bald

thing, I basically just lather my head up with

shaving cream, and I know this is sounding horrible

on this recording. Basically just put shaving

cream all over my, you know, one -inch hair.

Well, I mean, what do you normally... I mean,

hell, I have... When it's that short... Listen,

when it's that short... when it's that short,

and I go ahead and shave it the rest of the way

to get a bald head. I basically just use a Mach

3 or Fusion or whatever else. OK. I have a, it's

called a Gillette ProGlide Styler. Yeah. It's

here, see? Yes. Why do you have that next to

you? I don't even want to know where you are.

I'm in my office. I have a... Oh, OK. up here

too. Why do you have that in your office? Because

I have a bathroom. I have a bathroom in the city.

No wonder Vern wanted to rent your office up

for $800 a month. There's a bathroom in there.

This is a total, I mean you could live up here.

I mean the only time you would have to come down

is if you ever really wanted to go into the kitchen

or something. I mean there's a bathroom, there's

a shower, there's a sink, I mean everything's

up here. But anyhow this little set right here.

This was like $15 or something and it comes with

different You know length trimmers and stuff

so that you know you can like shave your hair

or you know you can Trim your beard or whatever

you want to do and it's got different lengths

so you can have different lengths For your hair

you should buy something like that to shave your

head and your beard You hairy freak of nature

Shut up I'm just saying you know my you know

I just told you I went to get a haircut So I

mean my hair isn't as bad as it well. I'll have

to take a picture and put it on Twitter or something

I haven't done that yet, but you just post you

just did a video. Yeah the other day I saw that

yeah, yeah, so it's not like it was a week ago

where Yeah, but your hair really does grow kind

of like two months, and it's poofed out two months

poofed out Yeah, it gets really poofy. It's like,

well, see, that's the thing. That's the thing

is that all my life, my hair, instead of, you

know, how you have some guys that can grow their

hair long, like down their back like a girl.

Right. Yours just gets big. Mine doesn't do that.

Mine, you know, goes up and out like an afro.

So I'm a white guy with an afro, essentially.

Basically. Yeah. Really kind of creepy. It's

not normal, I don't think. I really don't think

it's normal. How about them red wings? Yeah,

let's not talk about them. They long - How about

them lions? Well, they haven't done much of -

Shut up! Oh, my wife's plant in here is needing

water. Oh my god. Is there anything else that

you wanna bitch at me about? Have you seen the,

uh... Have you seen the trailer to the 21 Jump

Street film? Yeah, it actually looks pretty funny.

I mean, if it wasn't called 21 Jump Street, I

would probably enjoy watching it. Just because

it looks pretty amusing, but the fact that they're

putting it around the whole 21 Jump Street...

I can't believe they're making that a comedy.

Oh, my God. I don't necessarily mind. I like

the fact that it's not a, you know, a... I like

the fact that they're acknowledging that, you

know, that the 21 Jump Street program was 20

years ago, and that worked out, you know. I mean,

I like that they're taking it at a different

angle. Yeah. But I don't know. I mean, I'll probably

rent it and watch it or something like that,

but... It's probably gonna be something for me

where I catch it on TNT or something like that

like hey There's a way to do these things like

there's a way to have comedy like take the starski

and hutch remake with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson

and Now is a remake. I mean now if they were

to remake the whole concept at 21 Jump Street

Then I'm sure they want to treat it as a comedy.

But with this they're acknowledging it in the

past Right. Doing something a little bit different

with it, which that's fine. It's not like they're

remaking it. That's OK for me. So I know a lot

of people that complain about it. They're like,

oh my god. And like you said, I can't believe

they're making it a comedy. Well, it's a continuation

of the whole story. And 21 Jump Street, yes,

it was kind of like a drama. It was a dark, dramatic

series. But there was humor in it. There was

there was but not as much as it's in this film,

you know, and I don't think it's all that bad.

I think like I said, if it was a remake and they

were choosing to, you know, redo this as if it

was, you know, back in the 80s and if they decided

to do it as a comedy, then it would definitely

suck. Yeah. At least with this, it's acknowledging

that it's, you know, 20 years in the future.

you know it was an old program you know let's

try using it again whatever and i don't think

it's too terribly bad i'll give i'll give it

a try speaking of remake slash reboots uh oh

god june 29th 2014 oh don't even start bitch

performers jesus god we gotta get we gotta get

past this i don't know this uh... was very long

casted i've already vented about it i think that

about it over on uh... over on the latest episode

a headshot with me and steve because we were

not reporting on the news item of that for all

things transformers I'm to the point now where

I'm done with the film franchise. Sure, if it

comes out or whenever it comes out, I'll go see

it, but I'm done talking about it. I'm tired

of it. I'm focusing on Transformers Prime. Transformers

Prime is absolutely amazing. And I'm focusing

on other fandoms outside of Transformers. I'm

focusing on stuff like He -Man. It amazes me

that you give so much leeway to Transformers

Prime when Transformers Prime is created by the

same people who wrote... the first two Transformer

movies. Okay, but here's the thing though. They

are writing, and their writing team is writing

actual stories, not just, hey, muthafucka, what

are you doing? Bah, bah, bah, let's go get some

ice cream from our ice cream tracks. I don't

think that was ever said. I know that wasn't

ever said, but that was my bad impression of

Skids and Mudflap. But see, here's the thing

though. They were... I don't blame Orcian Kurtzman.

You blame Michael Bay. I blame fucking Michael

Bay. Except for the script. Because he dicked

around and told them. Except the script, you

know, is written by those guys and, yeah, they

put things in there. Yes, it is written by those

guys. On any of his movies, he has final say

in anything. Yeah. he will go back and he will

rewrite a scene if he wants to so i don't see

those films even though they are credited as

or scene and encouragement i don't see them as

that actually them doing what they want to do

here is there is i don't think it's fair to compare

how many how many episodes are in season one

of transformers prime twenty four twenty six

twenty six episodes to tell a story that michael

bay Kurtzman and or see have to do in a two -hour

Movie two to three hour movie. I don't think

it's fair to compare the two things now everyone's

like we don't we didn't need you know We didn't

get any character development and blah blah blah.

You know I looked at this way that the transformer

movies are just longer versions in terms of you

know individual episodes their longer versions

of what we got in the original G1 Transformers.

It's a story for that. There are Autobots in

there that you never hear dialogue from, yet

you see them. and they're there, it's the same

fucking thing. You know, what I have - Okay,

but here's the thing though, okay? The way I

view the movies at this point is I'm over the

fact that the first two had hardly any G1 references.

Sure, I found references here and there, kinda

like that - that needle, that laser thing in

Revenge of the Fallen is kind of like Megatron's

solar needle in G1. I found references throughout

those first two films, but here's the thing,

though. I see those as, you know, turn your brain

off, block, you know, summer blockbuster movies,

just go, don't think about it, there's no real

story to any of them. Dark of the Moon, for me

personally, is the best one out of all three.

With Transformers Prime, I saw a special feature

on YouTube or bought, I don't know, it came out

of BotCon or something where, or it was on Hubroll,

I forget, where Orsi and Kurtzman sat down and

somebody was interviewing them and they said,

this, what we're doing with Transformers Prime,

the way we're writing this series is the way

we wanted to write the movies, but because of

the time constraint of a movie, we didn't have

that opportunity to write it the way we wanted

to write it. This is exactly why I do not blame

the two of them. for the films you can't blame

michael bay either i mean he doesn't think that

they don't know david said the exact same thing

that there's no time constraint because you have

you know twenty six hours twenty six twenty six

times you know twenty five is one as he does

think like i don't see For me, Transformers Prime

isn't just, oh, hey, here's a new Transformers

cartoon with movie designs. I don't see it that

way. I know a lot of people look at Optimus and

Bumblebee and like, oh, it's just movie Optimus

and movie Bumblebee. It is a completely, I mean,

Bumblebee kind of looks like movie Bumblebee

a little bit, but Optimus is a completely different

design. He does not. He's the same kind of truck.

He's the one, yeah, but it looks different in

animation. It's not the same as it is in live

action, whatever. I know that's the difference

of live action, animation, whatever. But the

point is, is that I love that series for what

it is and for what the story that is actually

telling. I think it's a very unique story. I

agree, I agree, but they also had 500 minutes

to tell the story in season one. I know, okay,

I get it, I get it, they had more time, I understand

that. I mean, that's, that's, that's like, that's,

that's like, they've had five times longer, well,

not, not five times, you know, but they've had

a little over five times longer to tell a story

in Transformers Prime than they did in the movies.

People want to bitch about, oh, you know, well,

you know, we got these characters that just show

up and there's no character development. Um...

Hi, Wheeljack. Wheeljack in Transformers Prime.

Okay, but hold on, hold on. Okay, I know. But

not to have the luxury of season two to come

along and expand, you know, character development.

Okay, but here's, okay, here's the thing though.

They... And you won't know this, because you've

already made it adamant to me that you're not

going to buy the Season 1 set, because you have

it on iTunes. You're not going to buy it just

for the features. Going through and listening

to the commentaries, Partners, Episode 20, Partners

of Season 1, was initially supposed to be Wheeljack's

return. They changed it to focus more on RC and

Tailgate and finding out that Starscream killed

Cliffjumper. Wheeljack will return in season

two. There will be another Wheeljack story for

season two. However, I don't like there's a big

difference in changing a character, you know,

changing Wheeljack from the scientist to a wrecker.

There's a big difference from that to introducing

characters that are African -American stereotypes.

There's a huge difference in that. They're only

African -American stereotypes because you say

they are. Michael Bay said they were! No, they

didn't. Somebody said they were on something.

Nobody said that they were. They were just funny

kind of, you know, gangster talking dummies.

I'd rather have Wheeljack with swords than gangster

talking dummies. Wheeljack with swords. Come

on. Okay, listen. I know you and I are going

to have our separate opinions and we're not going

to agree on this, okay? You never know what they're

going to do with Wheeljack. He may have a hidden

side where he is an inventor at some point. It's

already been rumored that Wheeljack is going

to be depicted as kind of a MacGyver type of

person. Where's your inventor angle? Well, yeah,

and that's fine, except for the fact, you know,

people, I mean, I'm talking clearly about how

people want to complain that there's no, you

know, that people just show up and boom, there

they are, and that's it. There's no character

development. There was none of that with Wheeljack

either. Well, right, there wasn't, but, you know,

there will be. And see, the thing of it is...

What about Trailbreaker? Well, Trailbreaker's

dead. He doesn't need character development.

That's a funny story. Doesn't matter. He's still

introduced to us? What about Chris? I mean, they

told a story of what happened to him. He is introduced

to us. He was Arcee's partner. That's really

all we need to know. She failed to protect him.

Iraq, I almost said black. I always want to say

fucking black Arachnia. God damn it. Arachnid.

Black Arachnia, who's all over the place. Right,

exactly. There's no character development with

her. She was a Decepticon, then she quit, and

then she's a Decepticon again? Well, that's the

same. I mean, you... You could say that same

thing about lockdown, but he always stayed neutral.

He never joined. Uh, I mean, I mean, that's the,

you know... No, I... Oh, God, don't even get

me started. But see, here's the thing about Prime,

though. This is the way I see it, and if people

don't want to see it that way, that's fine. From

episode 1 to episode 26, they tell a consistent

story. Even in episodes... Even in episodes that

may be one -offs, there's still a story element

to the final overall season of what's going to

happen. And I just love the storytelling that

they're doing in the show! Over 500 minutes.

Okay, okay, we get it, we get it. No you don't!

Yes, I understand! You're comparing something

that they have 500 minutes to tell a story naturally...

You're going to be able to tell a story. It's

like comparing a book to a movie. Lord of the

Rings, the books are infinitely better than the

movies. Anyways, here's the thing though. At

this point, I'm not even trying to compare. ...prime

to the movies. I'm just saying, my overall thoughts...

You're like, there's no character development.

Well, no, that's more other people. That's you

that's saying that there's no character development.

That's a lot of other people that say that, too.

Here's the thing, though. Storytelling. You didn't

like the storytelling. Of what? Of the first

two movies. No, I didn't, because I hated the

bitch -ass actor that they put in the fucking

lead role. What's wrong with Shia LaBeouf? There's

nothing wrong with him. Shia LaBitch is more

like it. Why? What's wrong with him? I hate that

kid. What's wrong with him? He's awesome. Did

you just say he's awesome? I swear to God if

you did. I didn't say that. I said what's wrong

with him? Okay, what's wrong with him? First

of all, he can't act for crap. Alls he can say

is, no, no, no, no, no, no! I don't sa - I -

I - wh - wh - when - when does he say that? I

don't see where he did that. It's in one of the

movies. I - I think it's in Revenge of the Fallen.

I forget. I don't remember. I'm trying to focus

on Prime here, because I'm done with the movies

here. Gotcha. With - with Prime. Uh -huh. In

each episode, there is certain character development

for certain characters. R .C. had partners, had

episode 20, we learned her backstory. Sure, Arachnid

doesn't get a lot of character development, but

that's the allure of her character, is that we

don't need to know... What? who she's mysterious

that's right that's that's the alert character

you had stronger faster with ratchet and you

had him busting out of his shell because he was

popped up on energon heroin and that was awesome

you had the whole technically a four -part story

ending with one shell right uh... what one shall

fall in the three -part one shall rise you had

that whole arc you had sick mind and out of his

head I see his bumblebee stories even though

they focus on Megatron but they are essentially

bumblebee stories and bumblebee bumblebee and

raf kind of stories yeah right because they are

you know me it was for as far as the bots go

because i'm not going to be humans at this point

as far as the bots go bumblebee in sick mind

and out of his head that was a bumblebee eccentric

story because you know he was plugged into megatron's

head and escaped and blah blah blah you know

bumblebee is going to get more stories in season

two we're going to find out how he lost his voice

hopefully at some point he will get his voice

back honestly I know a lot of people say they

hate the fact that Bumblebee is a R2 -D2 in Prime,

just like he was in the movies. I don't mind

it in Prime at all. I really don't, because it

adds something. First of all, it gives Raph something

to do with exposition for Bumblebee. Yeah, but

here you go. Here's something for ya. Here we

go. How the fuck does Raph know? How the fuck

does he know what that means? okay but maybe

that's something okay here okay here here here

here here here here here here here here here's

here's an interesting bit for you i'm gonna have

to go back and make sure i get this correct but

if i'm remembering right in the uh... finale

commentaries for season one yeah they say that

wrath initially was supposed to be the one that

got possessed by unicron kinda like allah uh...

Vigo possessing Oscar? Possessed? Nobody's been

possessed by Unicron. Remember when Megatron

got Unicron on the brain and he got possessed

by Unicron? Dark Energon? Yes. Okay, okay. Initially...

Raph was supposed to be the one that made Unicron

rise. That was the original storyline that they

were going to go, but they went and wrote it

a different way to what it actually is now. Originally,

through the commentary, through the writers talking

on the commentaries of those episodes, they said

Raph was going to be the one to somehow incur

the rising of Unicron. Now, I know there's a

lot of people out there that are saying, why

is Unicron the center of the earth and all this

and all that? I think... Well, they explained

that. Right, right, they explained that, but

there's a lot of people that were asking, I've

seen a lot of people online saying, why is Unicron

the center of the Earth and this, that, and the

other thing, and that's so stupid? I don't think

it's stupid, I think it's a very interesting,

unique way to tell a story, instead of having,

me, Unicron, big, giant planet going to eat everything!

you know instead of having that you have this

unique story of you can't destroy the you can't

destroy unicron because you're going to destroy

the earth now another interesting note in the

commentaries during uh... that final uh... part

three of uh... rise over uh... they say when

optimus opens is just in the matrix flows out

and it didn't destroy unicron It just weakened

him and it made him go away. They said that there's

a possibility Unicron will be back at some point

because as I just said, you can't destroy Unicron

because that will mean you destroy the entire

planet. Because he is the planet's core. Yeah,

they just basically reverted him back into his

sleep mode. Yeah, pretty much. Overall, I...

I think it was more so the sour taste that Revenge

of the Fallen left in my mouth. that i really

have gravitated towards prime it's another transformers

cartoon you know it's essentially g one but c

g i is for it's not no okay do you want to have

no story telling about listen to what listen

when i mean but i don't like on shut up and listen

to me when i say that i mean it's not g one of

the fact of the characters in the story and all

that it is you and had no stories they individual

stories to the right overall continuity. What

I mean is, Transformers Prime is kind of like

G1 for a new generation. It's kind of like if

you're a kid now and your parents are just now

getting into Transformers or you've never seen

G1, you can watch this series from beginning

to end and this can be some teenager's Transformers

generation. Who do you have to thank for that?

Horacee and Kurtzman. Again, I don't blame them.

Except you have Michael Bay to thank for that

because he's the one who took this franchise,

made movies out of it, and without Michael Bay

making these movies, without these movies being

made, then we would not have Transformers Prime.

And I understand that, and in that respect, that's

fine. I don't... You know, I don't... What I

blame Michael Bay for is all the bullshit in

those movies. That's what I really blame him

for. I don't blame him for making the movies,

because you're right. You know, at this point...

What bullshit? What bullshit? Because I guarantee

you, I can point to some really pretty stupid

shit that happened in G1. I'm not saying that

there wasn't stupid shit that happened in G1.

I mean, I you know, I I can point to stupid shit

that happened in G1 I'm not saying I'm saying

that Okay, take revenge of the fallen. I said

you can't even take that because that obviously

has been acknowledged by everybody who acted

in the movies everybody who watched the The the

the special features on darker the moon saw Michael

Bay come up and straight -up say that's the movie

was terrible, right? He acknowledges that so

you use that as an example. Okay. All right Transformers

Revenge of the Fallen is like a filler episode

That's how I look at it. That's a episode in

the transformer movie franchise I thought the

first Transformer movie, I thought for what it

was, was a pretty good movie. I mean, I thought

the, you know, the introduction of the characters

was good. I thought the action was good. There's

some, you know, plot holes, you know, that naturally

are gonna happen in there, but hell, that happens

with everything. I mean, everything that is related

to Transformers, every single incarnation of

Transformers, all the way from G1, to I don't

want to see Transformers Prime because that's

not all the way through so let's go from animated

yeah so from G1 to animated there are plot holes

that you're like huh? I mean that happens no

matter what so there are plot holes in the first

movie Revenge of the Fallen everybody agrees

was a bad movie Have I've never said that it's

not I enjoy it just for the fact that it's it's

there gives us a chance to go back and rewatch

the characters kind of have fun with it and just

kind of Be blah blah blah, you know and kids

love it. That's what you know pisses me off it

pisses me off to no extreme that everybody sits

there and They want these movies to be made and

they want them to be made for transformer fans

if they made a movie If, if, if TFG1 Mike, and

um, and... Bulk Matrix. Bulk Matrix, yeah. If,

if you guys got together and made a movie, you

would make it as G1 as possible, and... You know

what? Honestly, I wouldn't. Okay, okay, listen.

Listen, before you even go any further. At this

point in my life, I'm 32 years old. Yes, you

are. Maybe... 15 years ago, I would still be

all about a G1er, G -E -E -W -U -N. I would be

that anal retentive fanboy that only wants G1.

I have since then, and throughout the last four

or five years, I have gone through, I've watched

Beast Wars all the way through, I've watched

Beast Machines all the way through, I love both

those series, I watched Animated all the way

through, I love it for the most part, there are

certain issues I have with it. I've watched all

these incarnations outside of, you know, like

the Unicron trilogy, which everybody should agree

that that is complete and utter shit. You know,

I grew up - The Unicron trilogy stinks of the

taint of Primus. Exactly, exactly. So at this

point in my life, I am fine with incorporating

all aspects of United States. Alright, so let's

not even include you. There are so many people

out there that want these movies to be that way.

And I would say three quarters of the fandom

want a G1 sort of movie. They don't want, you

know, Optimus Prime being a Peterbilt. They don't

want Bumblebee being a Camaro and, you know,

they don't want, you know, Ironhide being a black

truck. I mean, those people, if they made movies,

this, you know, if those people made these movies,

these movies would not stand as the highest grossing

movies of all time or some of the highest grossing

movies of all time. Right. I totally tip my hat.

to Michael Bay, and the fact that he is able

to not only, not only, you know, bring the fans

into the movies, but he's able to bring people

that normally would not want to see these movies

into it, and that's what creates new Transformer

fans. So when you say, so when you say that Transformers

Prime is... kind of like a new g one for these

people you are absolutely correct i agree a million

percent with you but they're only here because

of what michael bay gave to us i mean for the

love of god dark of the moon is the fourth highest

grossing movie of all time and that's absolutely

i have no qualms about dark of the moon there

may be one or two really my problem with dark

of the moon and my problem with the franchise

overall is that you had to focus on a character

that they would give development to and then

immediately take him backwards. And I'm specifically

speaking of Sam Witwicky. I'm not speaking of

my hatred towards Shia LaBeach. I'm speaking

of the character of Sam Witwicky in the first

film. He was a dickhead in the first, I don't

know, half an hour, 45 minutes. He then wised

up and did all this stuff. Right. In the second

movie he was, regardless of how shitty the second

movie is, he was still slightly a dickhead in

the beginning, but maybe 15 minutes into it he

got with the program. In the third movie, they

took all the fucking character development away,

made him an asshole again because, oh hey, I've

saved the world twice, blah blah blah, give me

awards. You don't, if you're going to have a

movie franchise, and you're going to tell a story

through three movies, no matter how shitty the

second story was, you don't sit there and take

a character's development away, and have to redevelop

it every fucking movie. There's, there's, it's

not redevelopment, it's reintroduction of that

sort of character. That's, that's how I look

at it, you know, I mean, where he's an asshole,

you know, in the movies he starts off kind of,

you know, as a cocky little prick, and then he

develops and he kind of tones things down. Same

thing happened in the second movie. You know,

so we're reintroduced to that character that,

oh yeah, that's right, he was kind of an asshole.

You know, and then you see him taking on the

responsibility again, you know, as things happen.

And it's the same kind of thing that happens

in Dark of the Moon, where, you know, yes, there's

that, and I attribute that, a lot of that, to

the fact that, you know what, if I had just saved

the planet two times previously, I would I would

do the exact same thing. I would fucking expect

the government to be helping me You know, I mean,

you know and and there and there there is some

good writing that goes along with it because

Here you have him having that same thought process

that I'm having and then here comes this lovely

girl who's like Dude, you got a medal You know,

yeah, they paid for your college What else do

you want them to do? You know so there is there's

me being like yeah, you know what people should

bow down to me Then and then Rosie turns into

burn and comes back like Paul. They fucking paid

for your college You know accept it be grateful

what for what they gave you and get over it You

know and there it is there's there's the relationship

There's you know there's I'm tying it into my

personal life which then makes people become

more interested in what's happening in the movie.

Okay, and I - I - I - I agree with what you -

There you go. And I agree - Good job. I - shut

up. I agree. I am not gonna bow at the feet of

Octobotamus. Thank you very much. Oh my god,

I agree with Octobotamus. Oh my god, okay. I

am the fucking Octobotamus. That's lovely. So

here's the thing, okay? With, uh, what the hell

was I gonna say? Okay, with the movies, okay?

Yes. I get it. It launched Hasbro into a new

era, a new genre of getting mainstream people

and mainstream fans and getting those, you know,

people our age that might have kids of their

own, getting those people into the theater for,

you know, some sort of fan wankiness at some

point during whatever movie, like, you know,

take the 15 -second shockwave gets, you know,

not in, you know... you know, slither mode. You

know. Well, that wasn't him. That's not him,

though. Okay, I'm not getting into that debate.

Let me finish this thought, David. Okay, go ahead.

Go ahead. I fully respect what the movies have

done for the fandom. I just... I just prefer

what Prime is doing over what the movies did,

because Prime, for me, is... it's a new story.

It has certain G1 elements to it. It has certain

homages in it to certain things. Yes, there's

going to be character, you know, changing. Look

at, you know, you say you don't like the way

that... I almost said Cliffjumper. Shit. Wheeljack.

You say you don't like the way Wheeljack is characterized

in this. Look what they did in animated. They

did gender bending. You know, where... Where...

Shut up. Where... Where you know red alert was

a female instead of a male and this that you

know, I didn't mind that at all I thought that

was very interesting, you know, and I think this

new thing with wheeljack is very interesting.

Yes He's not the oh, hey optimus. Let me build

you some Dinobots, you know, he's not that character

He has that character's name But he has a whole

other kick -ass side to him and depending on

let's say transformers prime goes three seasons

We never know what we're gonna get as far as

the story. Peter Cullen already said that, you

know, they're gonna start working on season three

dialogue here shortly. Yep. So, I mean, we're

getting three seasons of it. Exactly, and see,

that's the thing. What I really want, and this

is what I think Hasbro's doing now, I want there

to be two universes. I want there to be the cartoons

and the toys and all the toys specifically for

the cartoon and just the regular toys, not movie

toys. I want that in one side. And then you can

have the movies on this other side. There should

never be a point. What happened to Animated should

never fucking happen ever again. Animated got

cancelled because Revenge of the Fallen was coming

up and they wanted to focus on that. G .I. Joe

Renegades. pretty much is canceled at this point

because of gi joe retaliation coming up that

shouldn't happen you shouldn't have to cancel

one one thing to start promoting another maybe

have it a season ender and then put it on hiatus

but don't sit there and cancel it because there's

so many unanswered questions and animated you

know they get to the last for an episode animated

and you know sorry touches the the little uh...

Alright little friggin pod thing the You know

what I'm talking about. She touches that and

she's like oh now. I know why I'm here We never

get a friggin conclusion to that because the

show got fucking canceled There should be plenty

of ways for Hasbro to not micromanage, but multitask

different There's a difference though. There's

a difference between what happened with animated

this because with with animated right it was

and and you know I mean it's already I mean it's

been well documented especially from the likes

of Derek with Derek there's your what yeah this

this whole thing was pretty much the fault not

of not of anybody per se other than Cartoon Network

oh yeah I mean, yeah. That being said, Transformers

Prime is on the Transformers Network, so it's

in a lot better hands than what Animated was,

so it's going to be treated a whole lot better,

I think. That's the biggest problem. Cartoon

Network has their hands in, and that's probably

why we're never going to get the final DVD set.

Yeah. Oh, yeah, South Factor gets a hold of it,

which I hope and pray they do because I don't

have any of those DVDs and I would love them.

Yeah. Um, you know, I just. Prime is for me,

Transformers Prime is where it's at. It is at

least in my own opinion, you know, Beast Wars,

and I know. I know you love Beast Wars, but you

don't care for Beast Machines. I love both of

those series. I love Beast Wars and Beast Machines

equally. You know, and Transformers Prime, for

me, is the same level of writing and animation,

even though, obviously, now, it's so many years

later, the animation gets better. Oh, yeah. You

know, but they're on... Those three series, for

me, are the best written. I don't disagree with

you. Mean I really I really think that Transformers

Prime could very well be the best written Transformers

series ever Yeah, I think it has that possibility

I'm not gonna see that right now because like

I said, we're only one episode into season two

so That being said it's it's kind of like I don't

want to I don't want to get my hopes up Right,

but with what you know season one gave us. I

really do like it. I'm very Intrigued with it,

but There's there's a lot that has to be done

with it and right. I think I think it's a terrific

series I think it's like I said it has the possibility

of becoming the best, but I don't think it's

fair to compare the movies to what Transformers

Prime is doing because You have so much more

time to develop things and make things better

and you know right i mean and you have so many

different writers so many awesome writers working

on crime you've got uh... uh... marcia griffin

who wrote a few of the animated series uh...

and that wrote a few of the tf a episodes you've

got uh... steven melching who wrote a few of

the uh... of beast machines episodes you've got

all these people, you've got Orsi and Kurtzman

writing stuff, you've got, you genuinely have

people at Hasbro Studios that are very much invested

in this show. You don't have people like, you

know, that are just putting it together to put

it together. You have people that are fans that

are coming in, and they're writing decent and

very good stories. It's not just like me, you,

or Spada, or people like that coming in and writing,

oh, hey, we should do this, and just off the

wall ideas. It's a very fluid, very written story,

and I absolutely love it. It's just characters.

Go ahead. Like I said, I agree with you. I mean,

I think everything is coming across very well.

I mean, I'm not disagreeing with you. And like

I said, I give all the credit in the world to

Michael Bay. People have talked about him, whether

or not he deserved to be inducted into the Transformers

Hall of Fame. And people have said, no, no, no,

no, no, they don't deserve it. You know what?

transformers up until the up until these movies

you know the movies came out in starting in 2007

right yeah that was the first that was the first

movie you know that we got previously we had

we had to go all the way back you know to 1986

now the movie came out at the same time or a

little bit after that you know transformers animated

was in the works so we got transformers animated

now before transformers animated what did we

have uh... we had the unicorn trilogy which was

absolute shit right so i mean this franchise

was it was going downhill i mean it was totally

going downhill that you know the movies reinvigorated

the whole thing, you know, we got the Transformers

animated stories, we got those toys, we got,

you know, the movie toys, we got Transformers

Prime, and all the stuff that goes along with

it. I mean, these movies reinvigorate. This franchise

was going downhill. Yeah. So, I mean, the movies

saved it. Yeah. They absolutely saved it. I mean,

the only thing that people really had to look

forward to were comic books and yeah i mean but

see that's the thing with me i only read and

this is only if i'm interested in them i only

read the bot con comics i don't pay attention

to transformers i i've never paid attention to

transformers comics either me neither i mean

i mean it's not that i don't care about them

it's just it's just not my it's not my cup of

tea i I have no ill will. I think that's great

for people who love comics and people that want

to see Transformers in comic book form. But for

me, it has to be a specific story. The only two

BotCon comics I own is 08's Shattered Glass and

2011's Animated Comic. Right. And that's fine.

I mean, a lot of people like them because you

can tell more of a story and stuff in it. And

you don't have to worry about, you know, obviously

the technical aspects of, you know, transforming

robots and things of the nature. I mean, I can

understand it and I can appreciate that. I mean,

when I was young, I read a couple of them. You

know, they were mostly like the headmaster ones,

I think. But, you know, I mean, I can appreciate

them for what they are and, you know, whatever.

I mean, they have their own sort of fan base.

Yeah, that's all well and good. Yeah, but what

I'm saying is, until we got those movies, this

franchise was going downhill. There was nothing.

We wouldn't even be talking about this right

now. Right. If not for the movies. Right. No,

I agree. I agree. I agree. So the movies, regardless

if you like them, regardless if you love them,

regardless if you hate them. They gave us a whole

new generation of Transformers and people that

like Transformers and the toys and things of

that nature that is gonna sustain this for a

couple years. And now with Michael Bay coming

back in 2014, giving us another movie, it just

keeps that ball rolling. Yeah, so I mean but

that's the thing though for me Hasbro at this

point is you know, we've always said Even even

since the 80s you have to have a toy line to

promote a cartoon and vice versa Yeah, you know

same thing with the movies when the movies came

out. It was huge. It was big It brought it to

mainstream You know, that's all well and good

as we've already said so far at this recording,

right? but my problem is it seems like for Hasbro

to actually release stuff or do stuff it has

to have it has to be a movie or it has to be

this it has to be that i mean what are we getting

this year for toys besides the prime stuff i

mean are we getting new generations this i mean

i've seen certain pictures from from toy fair

but we're getting we're getting some new generation

stuff they said that there's going to be um I

think some like 40 new generation figures. Now,

I'm sure some of those are going to be repaints.

Right. We're getting the fall of Cybertron toys.

Right. And the game that goes along with that.

So I mean, there's stuff that's going along with

it. So I mean, this is obviously going to be

an off year because there is no movie. Right.

But yeah, I mean, and all the Transformer Prime

toys, so. I mean, this year's not a wash. Right.

It's not a wash at all. I mean, like you just

said, 40 generations figures. That's awesome.

And I like a lot of it. Like, OK, take, oh, what's

that one fucking Jet's name? Take Thunderwing.

Yeah. I didn't care for the coloration on him,

but yet take Sky Shadow, the black version with

the different head. I absolutely love the way

that figure looks. I'm the reverse on it, but

yeah. Well, see, I don't mind that we get repaints.

It just depends on what the repaints are. Take

War for Cybertron and Megatron. I love the original

version of that figure. But that darker version

that came out in that Optimus Megatron 2 pack

or whatever it was, you know what I'm talking

about, right? The darker War for Cybertron Megatron

tank thing. Right. Yeah, I know what you're talking

about. I like that version. as well as the original

version of the figure so i don't have a problem

with repaints whatsoever unless it's just completely

and utterly a stupid repainter a completely and

utterly needless repaint i mean when it comes

to repaints i'm very picky you know i mean uh...

i'm not a big fan of them per se unless they

are individual characters you know what's like

i mean go go back and look at You know side swipe

and Sunstreaker, you know, those are repaints,

you know I mean they got different heads, but

you know the toys were like that, you know, I

mean that well They weren't exactly like that.

But I mean, you know what I mean, you know, or

you know, um, you know Classics Prowl or blue

streak, you know repaint of each other Yeah,

right, you know that that's fine. That works

for me. I can I can go along with that I'm looking

I'm looking at my classic shelf Wheeljacket tracks,

that works. That works for me. That's why I don't

have a problem with the new Transformer Collector

Club run amok and run about because they're individual

characters and that works for me. I have no problem

with those in terms of repaints. I think those

are awesome. In fact, I'm really kind of aggravated

that I haven't gotten mine yet. But that's because

I ordered a t -shirt with it, so. And the shirts

weren't ready yet, were they? No, they weren't.

So everybody else's shit shipped, and we're waiting

on the shirts to come in, which were supposed

to happen sometime this week. Well, here it is

Wednesday, and nothing. You know, so I mean,

repaints don't bug me too terribly much, as long

as there's a, let's say a purpose to it, you

know? So and I've told you this before And I

get it it helps it does help it, but what bugs

me is those third -party things It just bugs

me so much because it's like You know you take

the not insecticons which in my opinion bombshell.

This is just my personal man I know you're probably

not gonna say the same thing or agree with me

The the not bombshell from fans project or whoever

it's from I forget who it is I think it's fan

project they did those You know, I think the

not bombshell is the best one out of that set

But it's like why isn't hasbro and this isn't

just me as a fanboy saying this one You know,

we got those g1 Commemorative series insecta

konzo so many years ago, right? Why isn't hasbro

and god I hate to say this Why isn't Hasbro taking

the position of Mattel where they're taking vintage

He -Man figures and putting them into today's

standards of toy making with the Masters classics?

Why isn't Hasbro taking figures like the three

Insecticons or like - That would be a wonderful

question to ask at BotCon. Yes, it would. If

I was going to BotCon, if I had two thousand

fucking dollars to go to BotCon. I spent $2 ,000

alone on a bar tab at last year's BotCon. I have

no desire to do that again at any point in time.

But really, there's a lot of questions that people

would love to ask. Right. No, and I get that.

And Hezbro isn't as forward with, because Hezbro

doesn't have a face. I mean, yes, there is Aaron

Archer. Yes, there are certain people that work

on the Transformers brands. But they don't have

a really public face that interacts with the

fans as as Mattel does with the only one really

would probably be Pete Sinclair or Brian Savage.

But that's the class that that's the collector

club. That's not, you know. I mean, for the most

part. I mean, so we're kind of screwed when it

comes to that kind of stuff. Yeah. And it's just

one of those things where, I don't know, it bugs

the hell out of me with the third party stuff.

Because it's like, I would much rather spend

money to Hasbro to get something that I really

want versus a third party, you know, un -copyrighted

-name -thing -that -looks -like -a -bombshell.

I don't know. And I agree with you, but, you

know, it's... I mean, and again, you know, I

mean, that would be a great question for him,

I mean... Yeah. ...there and be like, you know,

obviously, you know, these guys know about what's

going on. I mean, I would love to get out there

and be like, you guys have seen the overwhelming

support and... you know fan demand for things

like the tfc toys hercules set why don't you

guys do something like that as well you know

i would love to know what their answer is i mean

i think i think that things like that i think

the insecticons just like you said maddie collector

has made a very good business out of making adult

collector collectible figures that are based

on Classic versions of their other stuff now

trains that they very well could come out and

be like well We already do have the transformer

classics Right, let's see the thing of it is

though is there's okay technically generations

is classics 3 .0 And I mean we've gotten so many

cool things in that line You know and that's

all well and good, but go back. Okay take um

take warbot defender Right as it has bro you

know, come up with a way to classicize or generationize

Springer at this point. I mean, you know, this

project did it amazingly. As much as I can't

stand the character of Springer on his own, the

toy looks great, and I think Hasbro could more

than do that. Well, the toy looks great, but

it really isn't that great. Okay, it looks great,

but maybe physically... you know in hand it's

not that great it looks cool but i'm saying like

hasbro could you know i i know there's this whole

thing of hasbro's like don't tell us about these

companies because if you keep telling us about

them we're gonna have to go after them to shut

them down Well, why not buy these companies out,

bring them in, and see what you can work with

to get these figures as Hasbro releases? A lot

of these companies, not naming any names or anything,

a lot of these companies that are making this

kind of stuff are former designers already for

Hasbro. okay and that's fine but I mean it's

like oh there's just so many things that they

could do it's like I agree I agree and I mean

it's it's there's a lot of stuff that they could

do with it there's so many things that you know

I would love to sit there just pick the brains

of these people and be like why couldn't you

do this you know I mean I mean the biggest thing

right now is I look over at my a TFC Devastator

or Hercules. I think it's one of the most impressive

Transformers in my entire collection. Yeah. Well,

besides Fort Max. Well, except for Fort and Brave

Max, yeah. But I mean, I keep him on my classic

shelf, and he's there, and it's one of the most

impressive things here. I mean, bar none. And

it's not done by Hasbro. Right. But see, the

sad thing is... If Hasbro, and I hate to say

this because I absolutely love the individual

figure of Swindle, but if Hasbro did try to do

a Hercules Devastator, we would end up getting

what we've gotten for the Combaticons and Bruticus.

That Bruticus put together is just fugly. And

I know, now maybe, I think this is true, the

pictures we saw in Game Informer are the wrong

colors. Oh yeah, yeah. Are you kidding me? That

swindle looked so awesome as that that green

color and then the different color now it just

Just turns me off to the figure so much. I love

the image the mock -up and I know it's photoshopped

They're not always gonna be like that. But if

you could have gotten that color of green it

would have been so much better from in my opinion

for me because I really love the way that looked

and then to see the difference in color it was

like oh what a letdown yeah but I honestly don't

think Hasbro could do a decent Devastator unless

they really put a lot of time and a lot of effort

into it because as I just said look what we're

getting with the combined combaticons for Bruticus

everybody hates that combined mode at this point

at least I've talked to I was never pressed about

that it just seems like it and i hate to say

this because i love both these franchises it

just seems like it's a uh... it's a power rangers

toy it's a megazord that's what it seems like

to me for for me it looks like it is a oversized

knockoff of a power core combiner that's what

it looks like You know, my biggest problem is,

you know, the arms don't look bad, the body doesn't

look bad, the legs don't look bad. It's the connecting

pieces between them all. You know, I'm like,

there is no reason why the thigh, okay, should,

or the lower part of the leg, you know, so like,

you know, brawl or swindle. There's no reason

brawl or swindle should be three times the size

of the thigh. Yeah. Mean that was stupid. Yeah.

Yeah It's just so bad. All right, I Think we're

done. We've taught we I've ranted about Maddie.

We've ranted about transformers We've discussed

differences between the movies and prime and

everything else I would like I would like to

say that you kind of have a little bit of a new

addiction Right. Who you turns of things? Okay

I absolutely love these little Batman Lego sets.

I fucking love this. I got the, what the hell

is this called? The Batwing and Joker helicopter

set. This thing is absolutely awesome. I can

definitely look at this and say, there are some

elements on here that What is that company creo

you know that you know I could see where? People

would be like okay. Yeah, I mean you know they're

kind of copying lego But there are other aspects

that lego has going on with this that creo doesn't

even touch I mean this fucking battling has has

a has a launching missile You push a button.

I mean straight -up. They design it where you

push this little button and it makes a missile

drop from underneath it. And you build that.

You know, or the little joker thing here, you

know, there's a button here on the back that

you push it and it launches out a missile. I

mean, this stuff is so cool. And the fact that,

I mean, I love the Lego Batman games. You know,

I absolutely love those. i mean i was sitting

here i was kind of in a funk last night and i

was you know just wanted to do something you

know to get my mind off the ship and um... i

don't like i'm gonna sit down here and i'm gonna

put these together i was as soon as i was done

i was playing with these things i was having

fun with them i mean these things are just absolutely

awesome in it and i got i got another set downstairs

that burn said that she's going to put together

when she's feeling up to it uh... it's the uh...

the back came closely i mean it's the full -on

it's a full -on big old back a big it comes with

like a little batman uh... comes with robin uh...

i think poison ivy bane uh... and a bruce wayne

comes with little you know figures of those you

know and it's it's it's the biggest set that

you can get i mean and it's lego so it's like

eighty nine dollars for that one set you know

but there's there's that one there's this batwing

they have a batmobile one um and then there's

another one that is a a smaller a very tiny one

i think i think actually sean long reviewed it

uh it's the lego set for um uh it's a little

batman with the like i think a bat motorcycle

and catwoman And yeah, all these all these things

are really fun that I mean, I'm looking around

my room I'm like I gotta figure out a place where

I can display these because Like I don't have

enough room anymore. Nope. No, you don't and

Speaking of Batman stuff. Holy shiny metal Batman.

That will be awesome That thing is 39 inches

long for people. Are you still recording this?

Yeah for people that don't know we're talking

about the new hot toys one mobile scale nineteen

eighty nine batmobile well i don't know if it's

one six scale i know the figures are one six

scale so i would imagine the deal could be one

six scale to write uh... i think so i don't have

to look at it this way the batmobile thirty nine

inches wall fortress maximus is twenty four inches

tall so yeah this thing is gargantuan it's designed

to hold two twelve inch figures so you can have

batman and you know hopefully at some point in

time they do vicki bale or something like that

but so you have this i mean i i gotta find the

picture for it again where the hell um i i'm

actually looking at it now uh hot toys joker

and batman revealed okay batmobile all right

I'm in. I'm in. I'm in. Yeah. This is actually

where I saw it. I mean, this thing has two machine

guns. The machine guns that it's, you know, known

to have on the front. It's got, it's 39 inches

long, it's 16 inches wide, and it's nine inches

high. Nine inches high! I mean, wow! Okay, now

it's got two headlights. Yeah. Four tail lights,

and interior light up function. Now hopefully

all those lights light up, because that would

be fucking phenomenal. And it's hot toys, so

I can't imagine why it wouldn't. So, okay, what

else? It's two seats, so it fits two figures.

It's got a fully functional door, which allows

sliding. So just like in the movie, it can slide

forward, that's how the door opened, okay? Plus

there's shields. But, hold on, hold on, haven't

gotten there yet. Haven't gotten there yet. It

has back discs, which I don't know what that

is. Back discs I think are, it's probably a disc

shooting accessory somewhere, kind of like a

missile launcher probably. But I'm trying to

think of, I don't remember seeing that in the

first movie at all. I'd have to go back and watch.

Yeah, I'd have to as well. Now it's got a detachable

side plane which... That was prevalent in the

second movie. That popped out and he hit one

of the thugs with it. It comes with a detachable

base, which the base is designed to replicate

how it looks because the Batmobile can't really

turn very well. So it's got this base that pushes

down and then lifts up the Batmobile, then rotates

it, drops it down, and then it can turn around.

So that is awesome. I love that. It has a detachable

side hook, which we saw in the first movie when

the bat will be introduced, and it needs to make

a sharp turn. But the best part, the absolute

best part, in my opinion, is that it comes with

the shield. The bat shield. Now I don't know

if this is just something that goes on top of

it, but I would imagine it's just kind of like

a cocoon thing, that it just sits on top of it.

I could be wrong. I think it could be homaging

the original 89 Batmobile that we originally

got as kids, because that came with shields as

well, and that shield was just a plastic, you

know, it was a stylized plastic that gave you,

like what you're looking at now is exactly what

that originally was in 1989, and it just covered

it up. It just sat on top of it, so I'm betting

that that's what that is. But now, I mean, but

that being said, again, this is hot toys. Oh,

yeah. This is easily going to cost like at least

$500. At least $500 for this Batmobile. Now,

that being said, you know, the shield is probably

going to be pretty good quality. It's not going

to be, you know, flimsy kind of. you know, made

out of whatever material they make Halloween

masks out of that's just gonna sit over it. I

mean, this is gonna be nice, I'm assuming. Oh,

yeah. Oh, yeah. It'll be super nice, because

it is hot toys. I'm just saying, from the image

that I saw and the image that you're looking

at, it reminded me of that hunk of... you know

plastic that set over the original and the funny

thing is the original oh god the original the

original was great as well it wasn't like it

wasn't like this one obviously because you know

hello it was 1989 right but but the arrival of

one oh my god i threw a fit in the mall because

my mom would not get me that car and she said

sorry we're not getting it today and i got it

a few weeks later but uh... i threw a tantrum

as a nine -year -old in Kingston Mall, Independence

Mall in Kingston, Massachusetts. I threw a tantrum

because she wanted to go into JCPenney and smell

perfumes instead of going to the toy store and

getting me my Batmobile. Halloween 89, she made

me, we got a black sweatshirt, we got a Batman

iron -on emblem. She made me a cape. a cowl,

gloves, and boots. I wore black sweatpants, a

black sweatshirt, and I wore all, you know, all

the... I was Batman for Halloween in 89, and

it was so freaking awesome. There was a, uh,

there was a old, what are those, um, those shops

that, like, secondhand store shops? Thrift store.

Thrift store, yeah. There was a thrift store

in the old, in the town that I used to live in

when I was a kid that had the exact um it was

the the whole it was the original batman uh original

movie cowl made out of heavy duty rubber i mean

this was like like movie prop right thing you

know that i remember seeing and wanting as a

kid so bad but i'm like that thing's too big

for me because i was i was a small kid you know

i mean or i was a kid so it's like no way that

that's gonna you know, fit me or anything. And

I never asked how much it was or anything like

that. But I just, I always remember that being

there. I'm like, man, I wish I could have gotten

at it. It was, you know, it was the cowl and

it was the chess piece, you know, kind of that

came down and had the emblem. You know, I mean,

it wasn't anything spectacular, but just absolutely

gorgeous that I would have loved to have had

that as a kid. I would have loved it. Absolutely

awesome. But the Hot Toys thing looks absolutely

great. As much as I can't stand watching Shlong

and his asinine reviews that he does. I may have

to watch that if he reviews it or if he's already

reviewed it. I may have to go back and watch

it just so I can see it. And of course, I'll

obviously watch yours once you get it. I know

you're going to get it. It's not even out yet.

The pre -order is just about to start. So this

is something that's probably not going to come

out until the end of the year. I mean, the Batman

figure was supposed to have come out in January.

Or no, no, no. Yeah. Yeah, the end of January

was supposed to come out. It got delayed for

some reason and got pushed back all the way to

March. Now, initially, if I'm not mistaken, the

Joker figure was supposed to come out in March.

So, I don't know if we're going to get hit with

both Batman and Joker in March. That would suck.

Yeah, it will because those two figures are like

$250 by themselves, so I'll be paying $500 just

for that. Hopefully that's not the case, but

you know, and I could probably spread it out

because these are hot toys. They don't really

sell out very quickly, you know, just because

of the price of these things, you know, in a

couple of years they will, but not now, nothing

now. But I mean, it's something that I want to

have, I think is awesome. Hopefully the Batmobile,

you know, I mean, they're going to be starting

pre -orders fairly soon, which means My guess

would be late, you know, probably third, fourth

quarter of 2012. Oh, yeah. Speaking of third

and fourth quarter, before we wrap this up, we

do have to talk about one other quote unquote

pre -order. For what? Apparently, we have to

wait till 2015 to get the hover action. Oh, jeez.

The Back to the Future hoverboard from Mattel.

all it's it's essentially a skateboard it's well

here's a here's the thing you know this they've

already said that the price is going to be around

a hundred thirty dollars which people have already

complained about because it is basically a skateboard

with no wheels so why should that be all that

expensive you know it's it's got electronics

it's got you know sounds in it you know makes

the swooshing sound it has a If people are familiar

with with this it's um you know and I've seen

it on infomercials where They're little pad things

that you can put underneath large furniture And

it literally makes the furniture like able to

just glide and you can you know I mean you're

talking like you know 200 pound furniture or

whatever that you're able to move with your pinky

I mean shit like that um So that's what they're

putting on the bottom of this hoverboard. It

doesn't actually hover. It's very sad that it

doesn't actually hover. And yes, apparently we

have to wait to the real 2015 for actual hover

stuff and choose that power lace. But the thing

that annoys me about this is that it's, again,

it's Maddie Collector, number one. And we, you

know, they're like, we're gonna open up pre -orders.

I think pre -orders start like March 1st and

go to March 20th. You're correct, sir. And they're

gonna do the pre -ordering, and here's the thing.

You have to pre -order it, otherwise they're

not even gonna make it. See, that's the thing.

It goes back to DCUC. They said, we need X amount

of subscriptions for this club, this new DC Universe

club, to go through. They didn't meet their friggin'

quota. They cancelled the Ghostbuster subscription

and went ahead with the DC Universe subscription.

Right. you know whatever else so they had all

these subscription numbers for ghostbusters and

then they basically said fuck it we want to do

superheroes and and honestly the ghostbusters

line the subscription line wasn't going anywhere

because they came out and said we're not doing

real ghostbuster design classic figures this

that which i don't understand why they couldn't

have done because scott toy guru and i like basically

said well we really did this this this gi gi

joe jesus christ ghostbusters uh, thing to get

the, the original movie figures out. This is

where I have a problem with repaints. And I know

you'll agree with me on this. Yeah. Slimeblower,

Ray, Winston, Peter, and Egon essentially are

the same original Ghostbusters with slime effects

on them. They're essentially a repaint for the

same price. Right. And it's like, why aren't

you expanding into And then their response is,

well, we want to keep it mainstream. We want

to keep it to what people know, what people remember.

Well, if Matty Collector and Digital River and

all that and Mattel are gearing towards, and

they do this because that's what they are, they

cater to collectors. It's not Hasbro where Hasbro

is 90 % average Joe Schmo and 10 % Collector.

Matty Collector, markets for collectors. But

they won't do real Ghostbusters stuff. They won't

do this, they won't do that. They then cancel

it, go forward with DCUC, which didn't even meet

its fucking quota. So my question is, if the

hoverboard pre -orders don't meet its quota,

are they still gonna make the fucking thing?

No, they said that they won't. They said that

they wouldn't about the DCUC club. They said

it wasn't happening, and yet it still happened.

Well, that's true. I mean, I... I could not tell

you for sure, but I mean, what they said in the

statement was that if they don't get enough pre

-sales for it, that they're not going to produce

the set because it's too expensive. I don't understand

why it's so expensive because like I said, it's

basically just a plastic skateboard more than

likely. I mean, I don't even know if we would

actually be able to technically ride on it. It's

the same price as or well They've said it's gonna

be you just said a second ago that they've said

that it was gonna be probably around 130 bucks,

right? That's the same damn price as that fucking

ghost trap Yeah, don't remind me about that Yeah,

I got me ghost lately Now that that thing has

gone on my ghostbuster display and it's only

come down once and that was when my my sister

and family came down for our wedding And I was

showing my sister all the stuff in my room. And

I was like, oh, look at this, and oh, look at

this, and oh, look at this. And I pulled down

the ghost trap, and I showed her. I mean, because

it is cool. It's a cool thing. It is cool. I'm

pre -ordering two of the hover boards. Wow. One

for me and one for my sister, because my sister

absolutely loves Back to the Future 2. Yeah,

you know I mean I bought when I bought the when

I bought the the the Ghostbuster herb necklace

buster to back to the future when I when I bought

that on Marty McFly hats I bought her one too

because we both love that Yeah, you know so I

mean I'm definitely getting them you know and

it's supposed to come out Theoretically it's

supposed to come out at the end of 2012 You know

get enough sales, and honestly. I don't I would

be really surprised if they don't Yeah, I mean,

because even though people are going to bitch

about it that it doesn't hover, that it's just

a $130 piece of plastic skateboard, people probably

aren't going to be able to ride on it or whatever

else, even though people are going to bitch about

that, people are still going to buy it because

everybody loves Back to the Future. I don't know.

Now people can you know, you know met you know

message me on Twitter at TFG one Mike or something

or you could you can message Paul at off the

bottom is and let us know I do not know currently

any of my friends or anyone that I interact with

online that actively hates the back to the future

franchise No one hates those, you know, I'm sure

there's a couple people that may not like back

to the future three. That's fine That's your

opinion, but no one overall actively hates the

entire franchise. Yeah I mean, I can say that

I dislike Back to the Future 3 more, but I still

love the movie. Yeah. I mean, it's my least favorite

of the three, but I mean, if Back to the Future

2 for me is a 10, and Back to the Future 1 is

a 9 .5, then Back to the Future 3 is still a

9. It's just, it's my least favorite of the three

movies. But, you know, I mean, that's neither

here nor there. I mean, like I said, I mean,

most people... love that movie. I mean, one thing

that you can really see, and even Ghostbusters,

I mean, Ghostbusters is a generally loved movie.

And here's what I would point to in terms of

people's reaction, not granted, not everybody,

but I mean, the vast majority of people love

the Ghostbuster movies. They love the Back to

the Future movies. Go and look at the Scream

Award presentation when Bill Murray, this was

a couple years ago, when Bill Murray came out

dressed as a Ghostbuster. I saw that. That place

fucking erupted. Oh, yeah. Very much like, and

I want to say it was in the same presentation,

or maybe a year later. They had Michael J. Fox

and Christopher Lloyd come back together again,

and they did a whole thing. You know, this is

when the Blu -ray first came back out for Back

to the Future, the trilogy. Right. Came back

out, and the reception for those guys... was

ridiculous. Oh yeah. Now let me ask you this.

Have you seen the articles in the news items

about the fact that they possibly will recast

Peter Benkman and not even use Bill Murray? I've

seen that and I mean when I first saw it because

the rumor actually started with Dan Aykroyd.

Right. And that for me is the biggest tell. You

know that this is something that's definitely

a possibility because it's coming from Dan Aykroyd.

Right. I would absolutely hate it, but being

a Ghostbuster fan, I would still go and see the

movie. That's the problem. You know, if they

recast him as someone else, it would just absolutely

be. To me it would basically be like Dan Akroyd

Harold Ramis, you know, Ivan Reitman It would

basically be like them all getting together and

slapping Bill Murray in the face and be like

we don't need you because Who you were before,

you know, the character Peter Venkman isn't isn't

important to the stories and He really is Yeah,

you know, I mean like I said, I mean it would

be basically like a slap in the face Be like,

all right, you don't want to do it. We'll have

somebody else play Peter Venkman See, here's

the thing, they can't... Okay, take a character

like Jack Ryan in those other, like, some of

all fears and clear and present danger and all

that. You can recast a character like Jack Ryan,

but you can't recast Peter fucking Venkman. Now,

if you wanted to... You know go to bill and say

hey bill if you don't want to be in the full

movie would you at least do a cameo and maybe

Peter Say in the beginning. Okay, say you could

set the movie 20 years earlier or 10 years earlier

from now You know say it's set in 2002. Okay,

well Murray and the rest of the Ghostbusters

saved the fucking world, but but Venkman dies

have him killed off bill is still there and then

Jump forward to a storyline where maybe the sons

Or the sibling on that sibling the the offspring

of the Ghostbusters if they ever had any Would

take their place in this new movie you could

still have him in there But just not in the whole

thing do not recast Peter fucking bankman that

would be and there's no one in Hollywood today

that can play that character Oh, there isn't.

No, but now here's here's the thing though I

mean, I mean playing devil's advocate because

I do it so damn well. Um These these are p you

know, the people that would say that yes, you

can do it are the same people that say well look

at what happened with the The new reboot of Batman

You know, nobody thought that anybody other than

Michael Keaton could play a really good Batman

slash Bruce Wayne. Let's see. Here's the thing

though Ghostbusters had two films all the cast

return for both those films Batman movies since

89 have had a different actor up to the Nolan

verse they had a different Batman actor in every

single one of those well well with the exception

of the first two Batman movies with the exception

of the first two the other two returns and forever

and Batman and Robin had two different actors

in each of those movies the Ghostbusters movies

you always had Bill Murray Harold Ramis Dan Aykroyd

Ernie Hudson, but but not but now look at it

look at it this way, you know Ghostbusters had

two movies So you had you know Dan Aykroyd here,

you know all those people blah blah blah There's

two Batman movies you had Batman as Michael Keene

I mean at the same now. Here's here's the third

movie for Batman We can have a or here's a third

movie for Ghostbusters. We can have a different

person play You know Peter Venkman just like

a different person played Batman in the third

Batman movie Yeah, maybe I don't know I mean

I would not like it I don't think anybody could

do it and I think it would I don't think it would

be as nearly Successful, but I think a lot of

people would still go see it just because again.

We it's a Ghostbusters movie Yeah, and we finally

get to revisit those characters now. I don't

know why they don't utilize this new technology

everybody sat there and said how great it was

that uh... uh... you know the ghostbuster game

came out and how that's basically the third movie

i don't know why they just don't do an actual

full -on cgi movie you know get get you know

get hit you know i mean and you can even i mean

even with that i mean they're not voice actors

but i mean i'm sure they could do a better job

and i mean it's I mean you you you can have it

not necessarily have to be that far I mean you

can do that just like they did with the game

where it was only a couple years after the events

of Ghostbusters 2 you could do that in a you

know in a CGI world in a movie like that so and

and Bill Murray came along and he really liked

doing that he enjoyed it you know it said that

the scars from the second movie were healed and

You know all this other crap, and you know I

think the biggest problem is and he said this

for the second movie that Because of the nature

of the movie there were more special effects

in it Right it took away from the characters

in the story of it now here. We are in the 21st

century It's 2012 there. I mean and one of the

biggest things that's gonna happen if they do

to this movie It's gonna be in 3d, so there's

gonna be more special effects with a Ghostbusters

3 movie than ever conceived for a Ghostbusters

2 movie. So he's really gonna hate a Ghostbusters

3 movie, which is why I think he's so hesitant

to do this again, because that fucked him up.

He hates Ghostbusters 2. Most people actually

like it, but he didn't like it as an artist,

and I respect that. That's fine, but... I mean

he doesn't I mean he would want to go back if

they could do a movie with no special effects

you know or very minimum special effects like

they did with the uh like the first movie I think

he would be all over it but in this day and age

you're not going to be able to do a ghostbuster

movie without special effects I mean they're

going to have to have something epic and monumental

and you know crazy yeah I mean I don't know you

know what honestly I'm I'm really kind of like

I get the fact that you know and I know there

are movies out there movies that I haven't seen

stuff like I Know a buddy of mine really loved

the movie 50 -50 You know and there are there

are certain original movies out there You know

take I really loved in time say what you want

about Justin Timberlake singing career, but he

is a pretty damn good actor when he wants to

be. You know, Olivia Wilde's in that, and that

had a unique premise. There are unique premises,

but for the most part, Hollywood wants to...

We are in an age at this point where we need

to recapture what was done in the 80s, 90s, and

before. You know, I'm kind of sick of remakes.

It depends on if they're done well, but if they're

not done well, everybody hates it, and it's like...

You know, I don't know. I've never really been

that invested in Ghostbusters. I love the real

Ghostbusters cartoon. I love the two movies.

The figures, they look good, but it's not something

I want to collect. But I love the legacy that

is Ghostbusters. But it's not something that

I want to really... I mean, you and I and Pia

had that MWIRE episode where we talked about

the two movies already in depth, and that's enough

for me. You know, if Ghostbusters 3 happens,

that's all well and good. If they fuck it up,

well, that's their fault. Yeah. I mean, there's

a lot, you know, with it. You know, I mean, there's

a lot of history that goes into the Ghostbusters

franchise. And I think that particularly somebody

like Dan Aykroyd would really want to try and

maintain that integrity. Oh, yeah. But in doing

so, I don't think that would make Bill Murray

thrilled to do the movie. So that being said,

I mean, if the movie I would love to have the

movie happen. I don't think it ever will. But

then again, you know, there are so many times

in history, I mean, there have been movies where

I was like, oh, my God, that'd be a great idea

in my mind, because that's how I would have created

the movies. I mean, and this kind of goes, you

know, to you know the transformer movies you

know i mean these movies are in my mind you know

for the longest time even before you know uh

the movie actually was created alien versus predator

i had all these cool ideas when i was a kid that

it would be a cool movie to see and then visually

actually seeing it happen it's like oh ill so

i guess you know people that had those you know

preconceived notions about what they wanted to

see in a transformers movie when they saw the

movie, you know, if it wasn't there, I'm like,

ew. You know, and then they would just nitpick

at it. You know, another movie I would love to

see like Robocop versus Terminator. That would

be that would be an awesome movie. I would love

to see Ghostbusters three. But all these movies

I have built up in my mind about what it could

possibly look like. And there's so much expectations

that I think a lot of people would have. You

know, Freddy versus Jason. I mean. All these

all these movies, you know these iconic things,

you know that you would love to see happen. It's

like Cool, we would love to see it happen. But

then when it actually comes to fruition if it

looks like absolute crap Yeah, yeah, it can really

kind of destroy that whole thing and you know

And if Ghostbusters 3 doesn't happen or if it

does and it kind of fails Bill Murray has already

said he enjoyed doing that that new video game

that came out last year the year but i don't

forget when that that that in quote -unquote

in continuity game came out right he said he

enjoyed doing that If a movie isn't gonna work,

if a third film isn't gonna work, make more Ghostbusters

games. Make more story -based video games with

the Ghostbusters franchise. You know, voice work

is four or five hours a day sometimes. You know,

I mean, that's not that much time to dedicate

to... I mean, sure, most of the time, video game

stuff is you yourself in a booth for six hours

a day, you know, screaming lines or saying lines

and stuff like that. It is kind of tedious for

video games, but it's not that bad overall. Six

hours for say you say you have to do an entire

video game in a week Say you have three days

in that week that you have to do it. So six hours

a day times three days You know, that's better

than six months to two years on a movie set Yeah,

and that's a lot less time and you can actually

build a video game based story Well, this is

where I would think a CGI movie would really

kind of benefit. Now, I don't know how this works.

I think it works the opposite. I'm not 100 %

sure. But I think when voice actors go in and

do video games, the video game is already done.

So they're voice acting to what they already

see being said. Could be wrong. I'm not sure

now. I know I know I know I know shows aren't

done like that They go in there and they record

it and then the animation is put to whatever

the voice is it just depends on the game i mean

i know some like like dubbing it does it that

way they watched the animation and they and then

and then they mimic the lines i think video games

and people can correct us we could be wrong yes

video games is the same ways animation you go

in you read the script they record it and then

they put it to the game afterwards i could be

wrong with you you could be right in saying that

the game is already done but i don't die Think

it's just done like cartoons is it might it might

be but one thing that I do remember When I was

playing the game that it you know They're really

it really did just sound like people just recorded

voices for the Ghostbuster I mean it was their

voices, but there was no There was no reaction.

There was no there was nothing in it. There was

no emotion It was all monotone and just kind

of you know was like them reading the lines now

And that goes into my, you know, my thought process,

you know, about maybe they just read the lines

and then they put the animation to it. Whereas

with like actual, you know, other stuff, you

know, there is no preconceived notion of what

they look like or what they're doing. You know,

so, you know, I mean, you know, Peter Cullen

gets in there to voice act for Optimus Prime,

you know, I mean, he does it before there is

any animation and then they put the animation

to what he says. Like I said, I don't know I'm

not a hundred percent sure but when I was when

I was playing the game and I loved the game The

voice it just sounded very flat Did it really

it really did it's very monotone and it's kind

of like, you know They're just kind of going

along with it and there's there's there's no

pitch, you know in any other voice There's no

excitement as things commit now now certain actor

sounded better, you know Ernie Hudson really

sounded good. But again, he's he has done a lot

more voice acting stuff Oh, man. Ernie Hudson.

Ernie, I love Ernie. I agree. I mean, I think

he's terrific. But there it is where these other

guys, they don't do voice acting. So maybe they

do do it the exact same way as animation, like

cartoons and things of that nature. It's just

Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Bill Murray, they're

not voice actors. So there you see a stark difference

between voice acting and actors. But there are

other times where you can get actors that come

in and they just, you know, you give them a direction

here or there, they come in and they just go

ahead and knock it out of the park. You know,

take, oh God, what's his name? I know I'm blanking

on it. Hellboy. Run Prolin. He did an amazing

job as Clayface, and all else he had to use was

his own voice. He did an amazing job as Orion

in Justice League Unlimited, and all else he

had to do was use his own voice and read the

lines. There are other voice actors, say, you

know, Frank Welker is the one we always go to

because Frank is, you know, the man of a million

sound effects and voices, so I mean, I think

that's a bias to use him as an example. Take,

oh, okay, well, I guess I'll go the female route

instead. You know, take Tara Strong. Okay. That's

a woman. Just for the record, I would love to

take Tara Strong, but okay. Everybody would love

to take Tara Strong. That is a woman that on

multiple levels can do so much with her voice.

She can be young little boys. She can be older

little girls. She can be this. She can be that.

She can be anything. She has such a range. Right.

And that's what's great about voice acting. You

know, you take people... You grew up on the 87

Turtles, right? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Barry Gordon,

the voice of Donatello. Yeah. That's his voice.

There are certain voice actors that just... They

can read the lines and do the characters with

their own voice. We just finished interviewing

the voice of Dick Grayson Robin from Batman the

Animated Series, Lauren Leinster, the original

Robin, not the Tim Drake version. Right. and

lauren lester's voice is is is the robin nightwing

voice voice yeah it's the same thing with um

i can't think of his name um the guy who did

g1 bumblebee oh dan gilvazan yeah yeah it you

know so i mean if you close your eyes and you

just listen i mean you're here i mean i closed

my eyes and i listened to him talk i mean we

were at botcon together and i i was able to you

know just kind of like close my eyes and you

know i mean i actually didn't go to this it was

it was um The last night after the Hall of Fame

event, there was a special showing at, I don't

remember what theater it was, some theater in

Pasadena, where they showed the Transformers

animated movie. And afterwards, they had a panel

of a whole bunch of the voice actors. He was

there, Greg Berger was there, all the guys were

there. Yeah, and I watched it. Um, I can't remember

who it was somebody actually recorded it and

I was kind of like fuck I should have gone Because

you get him in there and it's literally like

you're not talking to celebrities. You're talking

to a bunch of friends It's it's ridiculous how

awesome those guys are so you're sitting there

you sit there close your eyes And I mean some

of these guys I'm sitting here. I'm like I could

close my that's bumblebee talking to me You know

That's just the way it is. Like you said, some

people can just use their voice and they can

emote so well through it. A couple months ago,

you've heard of audible .com, right? It's basically

audiobooks. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. They have an

offer where if you sign up for a free trial you

can get one free audiobook. Bumblebee and me.

Life as a G1 transformer by Dan Gilbazan for

the fans so You know, I got the book from Dan

Gelvezan off of Audible's free trial thing, and

I listened to it, and it's Dan reading the book.

And it's really awesome because he is, as we've

said, he's the voice actor that can just use

his own voice. There are times that I laughed,

cried. I was just amazed at that book. So I think

that's going to do it for this, finally, a new

episode of Team Bottomless Variety Hour. Oh,

look at that. Look at that. Look at that. We

have no idea when the next one will be, ladies

and gentlemen, so do not ask. I'm looking at

you, Jimmy Boy. Don't ask, because we have no

clue. This was just me wanting to rant about

Matty Collector initially, and it just turned

into two hours of constant discussion or so.

We've got to go. So you are the god damn. I don't

know. Just god damn. I'm god damned. That's all

there is to it. What? I don't know. Nothing.
