About this Episode

This episode features a critical look at three episodes of the series Team Knight Rider: "The Blonde Woman," "The Ixtifa Affair," and "Home Away From Home." The hosts discuss the unsuccessful attempt to replicate the classic Knight Rider episode "Chameleon," express frustration with the focus on the character Jenny, and evaluate the plots involving a mountain top prison and a mysterious 1950s-style town. They conclude by providing their final ratings for each episode based on their enjoyment and the quality of the storytelling.

Hey everyone, this is TheMusicMan08, one of the

co -hosts of Beyond the Night with TFG1Mike.

Would you like to hear variety? Would you like

to hear out of the clear blue sky? If you've

said yes to both these questions, then head on

over to www .sky106 .net and why don't you check

out the schedule to find out when your favorite

DJs are on. You may also fill out an application,

follow us on Twitter, send us feedback, and tune

in with your media player of choice. You may

also add us to Skype. That website again is www

.sky106 .net where everything is out of the clear

blue sky. Ten years ago, all it took was one

man and one car to get the job done. Now, the

Foundation for Law and Government has assembled

five highly skilled operatives and paired them

with the most advanced state -of -the -art vehicles

to take on a new breed of outlaw. They are Team

Knight Rider. Nobody likes a good car chase anymore.

Hello and welcome to Beyond the Night brought

to you by the GCRN I am one of your hosts TFJ

and Mike and joining me is Dion the music man.

Hello. Hey We're here. We're back again to torture

ourselves Yes, I hope you listeners enjoy are

enjoying our pain here because this is this is

god -awful You guys you think we're getting worse

than the Mortal Kombat sequel. You got you guys

think we're kidding Yeah, we're not No Today

we're going to be going beyond the night and

reviewing three more episodes of Team Knight

Rider. Kit, hit the turbo boost even though they

ignore you in this series. We'll be back with

the first episode after this. Now I'm a mobile

mailbox. You guys got anything for me? Hang on,

Duke. Interpol database only has one picture

of Eve. Hard to tell if that's the same person

on the motorcycle. We had to finish the scan

of the bag the cyclist was carrying. And this

liquid fusion bomb can be yours if the price

is right. I'd say that's our girl. Duke, just

got confirmation she's carrying the bomb. Be

careful. Oh, I'm being very careful. First up

today is the blonde woman. Wow, they really know

how to entice people with their episode titles.

A cross -dressing assassin played by Vector Bevan

tracks the team to - tricks the team into capturing

the wrong quote -unquote man and they must find

the real one before he can claim another victim.

Oh my god. This - this is their attempt - Are

you guys desperate for plots? Yeah, this is their

attempt to recreate the chameleon episode from

Knight Rider Classic. From Knight Rider Classic,

yes. Yeah. There are so many things wrong with

this plot. First of all, he doesn't want to kill

either one of the two wealthy people that basically

spurned him, where he was in love with the woman,

and, er, well, he is her ex -husband. He didn't

even want to get her back. He just wanted to

get back something he stole from I don't know

London, right? I'm dual something like that So

something like that, you know, he just wanted

to get that back. That's that's all he wanted

So it's basically a crook episode. It's just

so much misdirection. It just oh my god Any other

thoughts on the plot? No, no, no, no Uh, they

should not have tried to recreate the chameleon

episode. That was just bad Yeah Yeah, so we'll

be back with scanners in a moment Well, you're

just damn lucky it didn't bleed all over this

expensive dress Well a little color could have

only been an improvement She just insulted me

Throw this trash overboard Aren't you the bartender?

Is that Eve? Yeah, I'll explain on the way. We

have to find Kyle. I told you, your life's in

danger. I'm a special operative for the US government.

Like I haven't heard that before. Well... I suppose

this fool will take whatever he knows to the

grave with him. Finish him off. and do remember

to hose down the deck when you're done I hate

messiness turning the scanners on and off monster

truck it I love beast and he has all the good

lines today nobody likes a good car chase anymore

oh yeah yeah what about you would you like about

this I want anything you know Beast, like you

said, had all the good car lines, and I just

liked the car scenes, basically. I mean, that's

about it. I mean, the rest of it, eh. Yeah. I

love how confused the idiot becomes. He's like,

what's going on here? Because he tries to get

into Beast, and Beast electrocutes him. Yeah.

Yeah, that was really awesome. And at the end

he's like, wait, are all these cars like this?

What's going on here? Kind of gives an update

to the handprint. Yeah. If you think about it.

Yeah, that's true. Sadly, turning the scanners

off, this is basically a boring James Bond ripoff

episode. It is. This is even worse than Honor

of majesty secret service. Oh I Completely forgot

to mention last week and I can't believe that

I forgot to mention this last week But last week

when we're talking about return of Mega Man,

uh -huh. The villain in that is George Lazenby

I should know that name, but I don't he was the

one James Bond in honor of majesty. Oh, yeah,

okay Wow, that's funny Where they okay? Okay,

so the team splits up. Yeah Duke Erica and Trek

go off and do other things and Kyle and Jenny

go down and look for the guy in the bomb So then

Kyle and Jenny split up Jenny goes to find the

bomb and Kyle goes to find the assassin right

they meet back up to try to escape the The I

guess you could call it the boy assumes the boiler

room of the ship right all of a sudden out of

like some weird, you know parachute painting

hammer space Kyle pulls out a map of the underground

I'm like where the fuck did he get a map yeah

I was like where did you how long have you had

that on you yeah like it was there and well it

wasn't there and then like a scene later it's

there and I'm like what did you do did you to

just stop off and buy a map of Hollywood or something

I don't know. Overall, this was just really,

really... It wasn't god -awful, oh my god, my

brain's gonna explode, but it was just boring.

There's no substance to this whatsoever. The

only cool thing was Erika constantly insulting

the lady's dress. That was funny. That was funny.

Alright, we are gonna move on to the next episode.

Please marry me. Absolutely not. Never. Really?

It never occurred to you Decker was actually

a replicant? No, Trek, I told you. I only saw

Blade Runner once, and I slept through most of

it. Blast beam! Okay, enough stalling. Come on.

Okay, what about Jaws? You like Jaws? Move it.

Jenny, I'm starting to see that you and I don't

have the same definition of vacation. Hey, big

boy, you wanted to come with me. It's because

you said you came here every year. I figured

there was more to the place than mosquitoes and

poison oak. Come on, Trekkie, look around. It's

beautiful. It's a middle of nowhere. There's

no, no books, no lights, no video games, not

a single necessity. Right, Robinson Crusoe. Well,

it's private, quiet and free. That's right. That's

what I like about here. I know Simon here once

and just... I fell in love with the place. Up

next is the... Extifa Affair? I assume that's

how you say it. A leisurely vacation hike for

Jenny and Trek puts them in the middle of a plot

to free a Guatemalan drug lord from a mountain

top prison. Oh boy. Oh god. Alrighty then. Yeah.

There are no words for this. No, there is not.

They started off with basically a prequel for

Jenny. They started off with that and her and

this other love interest at the time, et cetera,

et cetera. It just... I don't know. I'm on here

looking on IMDB because I think one of the...

Who was the guest? Oh, okay, no, it's not who

I thought it was. Oh, yeah. Okay. I thought at

first, and I know people are gonna be screaming

at their iPods for this, but I thought at first

the guy that she's going gaga over afterwards,

I thought it was... So what's his name? Damn

it. Oh, oh yeah. I thought it was Bruce Campbell,

but it's not. Not even close. No, I thought it

was Bruce. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But it's not.

No. It's a guy called Drew Pillsbury. I had to

do it because it was funny. Yeah. Other shows

include... He was on NYPD Blue. He was on Felicity,

The Pretender, Jag, Hit and Run. He was on an

episode of Home Improvement. He was on Grace

Under Fire for the longest time. When I first

saw him, I was like, hey, is that Bruce Campbell?

No, that's not Bruce Campbell. He looks much

younger than that. Any other thoughts on the

plot no No Let's just no it's just bad Yeah,

that's about the best way to sum it up Let's

turn the scanners off I'm sorry. I think I think

you got me confused with someone well Hey that

that happens people confuse me with Christian

Slater all the time I have to sign autographs

just to get people to leave me alone. I don't

know. I have no... I have no scanners on notes.

The only scanners off note I have is I really

hate episodes focusing on Jenny. I do too. Really

do. I hope she found better acting gigs in the

future because in this show... She just didn't...

I just didn't have it for her. No. Nope. Not

at all. Um, what else didn't you like about this

one? Ugh, the whole freeing the drug lord thing.

Yeah, Villain of the Week. Mm -hmm. That's just

another one of those. Yeah, seems like that's

all this show has been doing for a while in Villain

of the Week. Yeah, I know. Oh my god. Ugh. And

it's partly because, like, even when we talked

about Angels and Chains last week, I still didn't

care, I still did not care anything about what

Jenny's past is. I just, I don't care for her

as a character at all. Nick, Erika, and Duke,

or not Nick, Trek. Trek, Erika, and Duke are...

all better characters hell even Kyle is a better

character and he you know kind of follows the

rules a lot of the time not so much as Jenny

does but It just she's just an unlikable character.

Oh, yeah At least she doesn't have a Mickey voice

though Gotta give her credit for that. Yeah any

Any other notes before we move on? No, there's...

I think we've said all we need to say about this

particular episode here. Yeah, let's move on

to the final one of the day. Closing in from

the north, Duke. How's it look? All clear. If

he had access to flag files, we might know we're

coming for him. What about it, Trey? Any sign

he's on to us? Uh... No icebergs ahead, Captain

Stubing. No. No, not yet. Look, this Captain

Zap fella is good, but the kid here is oh so

much better. Yeah, right. Which is why Captain

Zap had absolutely no problem hacking through

the security precautions that you installed in

Flag's database. I said he was good. We've triangulated

Captain Zap's position. ETA, two minutes. And

lastly, up today is home away from home. The

team follows a computer hacker, played by Sadie

Kresig. to an idyllic Midwestern town eerily

reminded full of the 1950s, but the KGB finds

their first. Oh boy. Okay! Well, at least this

episode doesn't focus on Jenny, so there's a

good thing about it. There's a good thing about

it. Yeah, it's pretty much a Trek -centric episode,

which that's also a good thing about it. Attract

gets to shine a little bit more here. Oh, yeah

Very much so I like the plot overall I don't

think Sadie Katz has Aged very well since then

but She's been doing a lot of stuff lately. Pretty

much nothing I really recognize, though. That's

kind of sad. But the plot overall is basically

Trek wants to save the girl, and he's got a crush

on her, and vice versa. It's this whole computer

hacker thing. I like it, I think it's interesting,

but at the same time there were just times where

it's like, is this one over yet? I don't know.

Any other thoughts on the plot? Not really, no.

I mean, it's one of those ones that's just, it'll

bore ya. I mean, you can watch it, but it's just

boring. And it's not exciting, at least to me

it wasn't exciting. Yeah, no. Not at all. It

didn't really keep my attention. I mean, it's...

Again, it's one of these episodes for background

noise. Yeah, pretty much, yeah. All right, we're

gonna get to the scanners after this. No weapon

signatures from inside any structure. No odd

tar consumption. It's nothing. Can we go now?

I'm afraid if I hang around here too long, I'm

gonna get invited to a Tupperware party. We can't

just leave. We gotta find Corky. Come on, man.

Easy there, big fella. Trek, Erica, anything

unusual? Well... Actually, I could have sworn

I saw Ward Cleaver necking with Harriet Nelson

on a park bench, which personally I find very

disturbing, but other than that, no. All right,

yeah, yeah, same here. Look, we're heading over

to the drugstore on Main. Meet us there. All

right, turning the scanners on and off. I will

say for scanners on that I did enjoy the fact

that Trek really wanted to be all gung -ho and

save the girl and all that, and I enjoyed that

they had a little bit of chemistry for what...

What was there, but other than that, again, this

episode just... It just seems like they're following

tradition of, oh, hey, let's just have... And

this isn't even a villain of the week, it's...

I mean, I guess you could say it is, but it really

isn't, because it's basically, oh, the KGB, oh...

Spies oh this oh that right this spy wants her

for this purpose or this government wants her

for this or that gut It's nothing. We haven't

seen before in other television shows and here.

It's done kind of poorly it is very poor for

this episode because You would think that They

would have come up with more action sequences.

Oh more Synopsis more of a synopsis in the plot

to keep you entertained to keep you guessing

and they didn't do that at all It just they just

fell apart from the from the opening scene on

Yeah, pretty much so that's about it So we're

gonna take a break we're gonna come back with

final ratings and thoughts after this back in

a moment Is this thing on? Why hello there, it's

your deviled Uncle Joker here. I bet you're asking

yourself, what could I be possibly doing here

jump into the pull bag today hey all wrapped

up here sir will there be anything else we are

back the blonde woman what are you gonna give

it zero hmm i'd give it a two really it was i

guess the reason i have to give it a means i

guess the reason i was gonna say i have to give

it a zero because they're trying to copy the

chameleon thing and it No Yeah, I agree with

that. But at the same time there was a Little

bit of enjoyment specifically on Eric as part

when she was basically mouthing off to the other

people so now that part I mean if it were if

you know if it were if it weren't for that part

I'd give it more cars, but I guess the overall

for an episode I would give it a zero but for

that specific, you know scene or You know throughout

I give it two kit cars What about Ixtifa affair?

I have to give it a one Yeah, I'm right there

I have to give it a one because I mean you go

any higher and it's just you're kind of insulting

yourself Yeah, it wasn't that enjoyable and as

we said in the episode thing any episodes that

focus on Jenny is just yeah What about home away

from home I Have to give it a two for effort

I Give it a three for effort. I really like the

whole thing with tracking and the girl. I thought

that was great But as far as the overall plot
