About this Episode

In Episode 51 of Beyond The Knight TFG1Mike and Duyahn The Music Man celebrate the 40th anniversary of KNIGHT RIDER! They kinda go through reordering the classic series, and more! So sit back, prepare for ATTACK MODE or TURBO BOOST here with them on BEYOND THE KNIGHT!!!

Knight Rider, a shadowy flight into the dangerous

world of a man who does not exist. brought to

you by the GeekCaster radio network. I am one

of your hosts, TF2, and Mike, joining me as always,

Dion the Music Man. Hello, sir. It has been a

long time since we sat and tried to go super

pursuit mode. It's been too damn long. I don't

wear skis. So yeah, super pursuit mode in EBS

is probably the only thing I can do right about

now. But yes, we are back with Beyond the Night.

And we are celebrating Knight Rider's 40th anniversary,

September 26th, 1982 to May something of 86.

Knight Rider ran for four seasons on NBC starring

David Hasselhoff. Patricia McPherson, Peter Paros,

Rebecca Holden, Edward Mulhair. Thank you. Yes,

yes, I was... I'm like, David Hasselhoff and

then Devin. Who the fuck was Devin? Like, yeah,

I blanked on his name. That's all right. Yeah.

So from 2012 to 2014, you and I went through

all of Knight Rider at the time. We went through

all four seasons of the classic series. We went

through the one twenty two episode long season

of Knight Rider. And then we went through. What

I read in 2008. Yes, and we even did a Knight

Rider 2000 film episode and that was Beyond the

Knight. That was the podcast. I am so glad we

did not touch the 2010 because that had - It's

not in continuity! No, that's what I was going

to say. It had absolutely nothing to do with

the canon. The only thing that it even pulled

from was the name. That was it. Yeah, no, I was

never gonna I'd like no hell No, like I just

I was glad we didn't touch that. Yeah, I'll kill

you I mean I would have sooner put you know And

I don't think this is ever gonna happen But I

wish it would I would have sooner put an episode

of us talking about Nick Fury agent of shield

on this podcast before I talk about night riding

2010 But like my ultimate dream ever since the

Marvel Cinematic Universe started and ever since

Samuel L Jackson Became Nick Fury. I'm like I

need Samuel Jackson and David Hasselhoff in the

same room as the same damn character because

that would be awesome I've seen now I've seen

the one with Hasselhoff, but not I did Samuel

do it You have not seen any of the Marvel movies

No, I have not really the only the only Marvel

the only Marvel stuff I saw Was Nick Fury agent

of shield with with Hasselhoff and I think was

was daredevil part of the Marvel stuff or no

that was Not no. So man, this is a whole that's

a whole other show. Okay, you have really no

Wow. All right, well Okay, I'll make this quick.

I'll make this quick. So I tried. Yep Of a lot

of it a lot of it just didn't interest me And

so I was just like mad not my thing So I I was

just like, yeah, I liked I liked Nick Fury with

David, but I did see trailers for other Marvel

things But they just didn't catch my attention.

Okay. Well in 2008 the Marvel Cinematic Universe

started and it started because mr Chances are,

Mr. Robert Downey Jr. became Iron Man. And you

and I can go through that on a whole other podcast

at a whole other time. But basically, yes. Truth

is... I am Iron Man. In the Marvel Cinematic

Universe, starting with Iron Man, you have Samuel

L. Jackson as Nick Fury in the MCU, and it is

awesome. Jarvis. Welcome home, sir. I am Iron

Man. You think you're the only superhero in the

world? Mr. Stark, you've become part of a bigger

universe. You just don't know it yet. I need

to watch that. Yes, I will. We'll figure that

out later off air. But we are here and we are

kind of catching up because nobody wants any

mustard. And yeah, some of the some of the old

episodes and I'm just like, oh, my God, the editing

things that we did back in the day. And it's

not even that it's so I have learned and I have

I have things now with my editing that I because

I've been editing podcasts now since late to

that or mid 2009 So I pretty much do most of

the editing on anything. I record no matter who

it's with Whether it's my show or somebody else's

show or whatever else I'm just like look I have

the time just let me do it and I'll do it however

you want me to do it But I'll just let me do

it Yeah, back then I knew nothing about leveling

audio. So sometimes you would be twice as loud

as I am Sometimes I would be three times as quiet

and whatever else now that's all hopefully fixed

and changed and whatever because I use level

later too and I use other things and Boys like

the way things I do like the way things sound

now because I've even listened to the episodes

and I'm like God Yeah Well, it was you know Like

I said, it wasn't your fault. It wasn't. Yeah,

it was. I mean, I don't really know. No, it wasn't.

No, think of it because you were getting into

podcasting. So like you didn't know the tools

that were out there going, oh, well, we could

have used this or I could have used this and

we could have, you know, matched everything.

So it was a mixing thing. Yeah. And luckily,

since then, I have now fixed that. Any one episode

of a podcast, it doesn't matter what it is, I

spend anywhere from two to eight hours. Oh my

gosh. Oh, yeah. I go through every single second

of audio. I make sure if I'm too quiet, I boost

myself. If you're too quiet... I boost you or

I lower you or whatever. Whatever the case may

be. And then I just take it through a program

called Levelator 2 and it supposedly levels everything

out and so far there hasn't been any complaints

as far as the leveling. But yeah, Knight Rider

at 40. Holy crap. I feel old. Oh man, this show.

Oh god, I started wha - I - So - We are going

to be doing stuff still with Beyond the Night.

You don't know this yet, because we haven't really

talked about it yet. I'm like, hey, let's do

an anniversary episode, since technically we're

about to hit the anniversary date coming up here

in September. And yeah, we're not going to redo

the show. We're not going to redo watching everything.

We're not going to do any of that. But just because

like, you know. You want to go back and watch

your favorite episode or that kind of thing?

So I went back and I'm like, oh I'll just watch

from the beginning and I will only watch like

I will skip episodes like I'm not gonna watch

every single episode I'm gonna start with night

of the Phoenix and Go forward and episodes. I

don't like I'll just skip those like short notice

and big iron and a few others Yo, don't even,

don't, don't. Shut your whore mouth. That's not

no worst seer quote unquote series fina - worst

series - That was bad, it was horrible. Yeah,

it was, oh no. It was bad. Look, all you gotta

do is, you know, and I know they're not gonna

do this now because it's 40 years later, but

all is they had to do was put Voodoo Night anywhere

else. Anywhere else that season. Right. And put

Scent of Roses as the finale. The very end. The

very end. Because, and we've talked about this

at length in the Scent of Roses episode. That's

what he wanted. David wanted that. Yeah, and

because, well, I mean, look, it makes sense.

It's a character building episode. He lost his,

his will to do the job and he went away and he

and Stevie and blah, blah, blah. Getting married

and Durant and the face and the whatever and

shooting of his wife and all this and all that.

And at the end of it, it's like, well, kid, guess

what? We're going back. Back where? Back where,

Michael? Back to the foundation. So, you know,

That's kind of like us, you know. Well, technically

it has been Jesus Christ, it's been 10 years

since we had originally started this show, technically

11. 11 fucking years. Yeah. So, we originally

started in 2011, because we did the episode 0

where we did the introduction, but the actual

first review episode, episode 1, was September

26th of 2012, which was the 30th anniversary,

and now we're at the 40th anniversary. I don't

know. So I'm going back through and I'm watching

this and I'm enjoying it. I literally just started

as we're recording this. So I'm in the middle

of part one of Night of the Phoenix. On Peacock?

Yeah. Hey, I'm talking to you, Peacock. Stop

using the cut edited versions, ass. I need to

find the... Just saying. ...set again. Yeah,

it is what it is, but yeah. Stop. Using the cut

versions. Ah Okay, so when you say the cut versions,

what are you talking about? Scenes that are cut

out that you don't that you don't see in the

DVD sets They you know, obviously they're at

it and I get why they do it it's edited for TV

time Yeah, but you know, I remember when I got

the DVD set and I started watching Night of the

Phoenix and There were certain scenes in Night

of the Phoenix we didn't see. And. You know,

in the DVD set that we saw or I'm sorry, we didn't

see them on the TV version that we saw on the

DVD set. OK, yeah, I don't remember this scene

at all. As a matter of fact, where did this come

from? Exactly, yeah. Yeah, so that's what I'm

talking about because it was like why you know

because even when I had Netflix They would they

grab the same sir not the same series, but the

same and it said yeah the same edits and I'm

like, why don't you guys just Pull them off the

DVDs and stream those Yeah, I mean you have the

license to do those. So what's today, you know,

right? Yeah. Yeah, it's it's a little silly.

It's a little crazy but yeah, I mean Knight Rider

at 40 and and all the stuff and I just I Don't

know. I figured we'd come back and do just a

little something and It would be what it is.

And you know, I there's been so much stuff that

has happened since since you know all of this

and like the fact that Knight Rider is on Netflix

like I I was like Okay Hey. Yep. So I don't need

to. I do not need to watch it on Peacock now.

Because, uh, yeah, no. Look, I love Peacock and

I love Tubi and I love all these things that

have, you know, whatever. Tubi doesn't have it.

I'm sad, though. No, Tubi doesn't. Yes, it does.

No, it doesn't. No, I've looked. Really? Yeah.

Anyway. Uh, I'll look I'll no no, I'll look again.

I know I know Peacock has it. Yeah I Swear I

saw it in here. Maybe it's anyway Doesn't matter.

Yeah, that's fine. But point is I until you had

mentioned it I had kind of forgotten that that

that Netflix has Knight Rider and I'm like sitting

here on Peacock like oh okay well I'll watch

it on there and then with ads and whatever else

and now I realize oh wait yeah no not happening

no sadly Tooby does not have it but it is what

it is what Netflix does and everything else so

yeah 40 years Knight Rider I it's just It was

all it from the time I was a kid even to this

day even though Knight Rider is not You you fat

bastard, I just want to point this out. I want

to get this. Okay. I have to get this out of

my system, huh? I have to get this out of uh

-huh Because you know where I'm going with this

You and David Hasselhoff. That bastard. I was

a skinny bastard. I don't care. You talk to my

mom, man. Do you remember how old you were? Were

you six? Yeah. I remember everything. There's

a lot of things that I've forgotten in my 42

years. I will never forget. Never forget. I don't

remember the actual dates. I would have to actually

look this up. Right. 1986, I believe it was right

as or right after the show ended. Boston Budweiser

Expo, because it's Boston and there has to be

beer. Right. Boston Budweiser Expo, it's like,

it was like one of the, like, you know, you know,

Carl Casper's Custom Autosh. Like, they always,

it was one of those types of shows where the

cars were all displayed. Like, I have pictures

of me in front of Vector One and other stuff.

Yep. I have, I don't know where the other one

is, but I have, I have technically three Knight

Rider pictures. I have the one with me and Mr.

Hasselhoff. I have the one with me sitting in

kit, which sadly is only a Polaroid and not an

actual You know full four by six photograph,

and then I have of me standing in front of kids

a kid car yeah, so Yes, I don't know what to

tell you dude, and I do about it 40 years later.

I hate you You're an ass. You're a complete and

total ass. Why why? Show when I was six Hello

Did you, okay, so the one where you were sitting

inside, I know he didn't talk, obviously. Was

he lit up? No. No? I mean, okay, so the outside,

I believe the outside scanner was. Yeah, but

like the inside when you got in. But that was

the thing when I was going to take the picture.

the lady trying to get me to look at the photographer

she was so I still remember I don't remember

what she said to me or anything like that but

she was so mad at me because my six -year -old

brain was like I'm sitting in kit I need to grab

this steering wheel I need to press the button

I was six fucking years old I'm like kit can

you hear me buddy like seriously I remember saying

that to the car I remember thinking him Daniels

is just you know his body is just kind of you

know scrunched up in the trunk so you know the

voice of kit can come out of the cup no nothing

nothing so oh it was not it was not lit up it

was not i mean maybe i don't remember if probably

don't remember because it's been so long ago

but for you to get a picture of david is seriously

I mean, I think if I were six years old, I would

have been mesmerized. I really would have been

because... Yeah, absolutely. I was. I mean...

Who wouldn't at this point? And then, you know,

I'd hang on to that picture as long as I remember

it and then find a way to get it laminated and

framed. Because... Well, I don't... Dude, the

Polaroid is long gone. Yeah. However... The Polaroid

of me sitting in the car is long gone, but I

have it digitally on We'll see there you go on

the internet and on whatever same thing But David's

picture the actual photograph is most likely

gone But it was what it was one of the very first

pictures I put on Facebook when I joined Facebook.

I'm like, yeah Here, this is me at six years

old And like so My biggest thing with my life

is that I'm left -handed because my cerebral

palsy is on my right side. So my right hand and

foot are smaller than they didn't fully grow

kind of thing. So you always think and everyone

was taught this way. you shake hands with people

with your right hand that's always just the way

it's been with everybody for the most part unless

they're whatever so i'm sitting there thinking

how are david hasselhoff and i going to take

a pic you look at that picture he and i are doing

the thumbs up with our left hands and he is holding

my right hand. I blew that up to see that. I

had my brace on, I had everything on and he's

just like, like literally it's like he's taking

this child who has looked up to him in the character

that he, you know, he played for so many years,

played for four years. Yeah. Like I remember,

and this is so stupid. I wish I still I wish

I actually had a better car but so I had the

big wheel I had the night rider big wheel as

a kid I fell off that thing even more I had a

lot of night rider merchandise there was a seriously

there was so much of it I had the lunchbox and

thermos I still have the thermos somewhere in

storage I don't know where the light why Why?

I'm gonna call Tonya Walker. That's it. Hey,

hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,

hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,

hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,

hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,

hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,

hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,

hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,

hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,

hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,

hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,

hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,

hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, Knight Rider Burning

Keycar. Uh, yeah, probably. I don't remember.

But I had the board game, I had the lunchbox

with the thermos, I had... Let's see, what else

did I have? I had Knight Rider bedsheets, I had

Knight Rider T -shirt. That picture with David

Hasselhoff, with him holding... I am wearing

a Knight Rider T -shirt! That's funny. In that

picture. That's cool. I had everything and when

I was at the job that I was at from 2005 to 2010,

at some point between 06 and 07, I went on eBay

and I bought everything I could think I could

get. I don't think I still have them. I don't

know what happened to them, but I bought kit

and there are pictures. I bought kit and car

license plates. Oh, nice. Yeah, I bought all

this Knight Rider stuff back then, and I took

a bunch of pictures with it. I had the DVD set

with the scanner and all that, everything else.

So the Knight Rider franchise is not like, say,

Transformers or Tangerine Turtles. where those

franchises have been ongoing continuous things

for 40 years. Knight Rider had the show, it had

a few other things along with the show, and then

the show ended. We had Team Knight Rider, we

had the revival with the 2008 series, we had

the 2000 film, the Knight Rider 2000 1991 TV

movie. It's been it's been done on robot chicken.

It's been done the Simpsons. Yep, there was I

was one of my favorite things the couple was

it a couple of Christmases ago of all places

All places I would think that would do this Walmart

had a 80s commercial because they were trying

to pimp out their new Walmart has basically turned

into Amazon, because they have Walmart Plus,

so it's essentially the same thing as Amazon

Prime. Right. So when they were going to promote

this, it's like you can either pick it up or

have it delivered, and blah, blah, blah, and

you see all these cars. You see Kit, you see

probably General Lee, you see the AT. You see

all this stuff in this commercial, and I'll have

to embed this in the post so people can see it.

I'm not Michael. I don't worry. He calls everyone

Michael But it was so cool because oh and William

Daniels, I mean Not only is he the best computer

voice ever He is also he went on after that to

become Mr. Feeney and boy meets world the best

teach the best fictional teacher ever And you

know, so William Daniels man. Oh, it was not

he was also in Billy and Mandy Yeah, he was in

a but he's been in a bunch of stuff just stuff.

Yeah, but William Daniels man He and his wife

Bonnie Bartlett, oh man, they have been married

for 71 they're in their 90s now both. Oh, yeah

Oh yeah. He's 95, she's 93. I recently heard

them on an episode of Pod Meets World, which

is the new Boy Meets World podcast from Will

Friedel, Sean, Ryder Strong and Daniel Fischl.

So they had Bonnie and Bill on and it was just,

I'll have to send that to you so you can listen

to it. It was just a fun, fun thing and just

to hear Bonnie and Bill talk and you know. He

wrote a book. Yep. A couple years, a number of

years ago, yeah. A number of years ago, he wrote

a book. Yep. And, I mean, this man is just, he's

so great in every - He said that when he was

on Sane Elsewhere, people would try to get him

to, like, people would make funny faces because,

you know, as Kit, this computerized car, he could

just be comedic. And when people saw him in person

they would try to get him to laugh and they would

do all these funny faces because William Daniels

was the smart Alec smart ass doctor and it was

just it was just you know And I love the bloopers

of Knight Rider for anybody if nobody's ever

seen those go YouTube them They're great. Yeah,

but I mean, you know for a franchise that only

has the one show and then the reboot show not

count because look I Respect some of the decisions

and choices and the actors and whomever was working

on team that right like the fact that one of

the who is it the guy that does Who Duke is paired

with beast beast is the big black truck and yeah

writer. Well, the voice of beast is The voice

of gold are from Power Rangers like Out I had

a Kerrigan man, I believe his name is if I'm

yeah So yeah, the voice of beast is also the

voice of gold are from Power Rangers That is

wicked and say what you will about team Knight

Rider. I was hoping against all hope that They

would bring William back for some sort of appearance

and some sort of whatever But like, you know,

we have this franchise and we have this show

that for the most part out of the How many episodes

and told do they have? What the original? Yes

Really? Yes, there's only 92 episodes 92. Okay

for the original show was 92. Okay Well, not

for 92 episodes, you know, you know, you take

out some of the whatevers. And, you know, well,

look, because it's Oh, God, here we go. No, no,

no. There's a huge difference now. There is with.

Because back then it was weekly television and

that they're okay. Yes, technically there is

continuity and I did a whole blog post about

this back in 2009 There is continuity and I writer

there is this and there is that and there are

connections and wherever else but episodes like

Not a drop to drink or just my bill or big iron

or voodoo not like these are essentially Villain

of the week story of the week type episodes,

right? Like continuity in the 80s was not really

a thing any sure you also you also had Night

in disgrace, which was kind of a villain of the

week episode if you think about it Goliath and

Goliath returns see I count that as continuity

because okay. No, no, no. Yeah, you're right.

So, okay, so we'll I'll Take those back because

you had Garth. You're dealing with Garth Okay,

so I am looking at the the list like like I notice

Short notice in there. Yeah short notice. That

was villain of the week. Yeah A nice and decent

little town to pass connection Topaz connection

was yes, but it was what so there are bad Episodes

of their their bad like, you know Adventures

of the week episodes like we've already mentioned

right has connection. I always liked topaz I

thought it was good, but I I thought it was teetering

on the whole villain of the week thing Hmm. I

know because if you look if you go back and look

at it, yeah You're yes, you are fighting a villain

But you know and yes, you are having you have

this assignment, but it's like it's almost like

you can see What's going on in the plot and I

don't care what anyone says there was soft porn

involved Well, yes, I mean, you know it was a

it was tastefully done. Yeah And and that's why

I like that episode is because of the way Michael

reacts to oh It's like basically the topaz connection

is Knight Rider's version of telling Hugh Hefner

story. It said yeah Yeah, but you know you look

at some of the other ones like give me liberty

or give me death or hearts of stone Or a nice

little a nice little indecent town is okay But

compare the topaz connection to chariots of gold.

Oh, that was that was just yeah So topaz connection

just briefly here folks Michael and kit traveled

to Las Vegas to investigate the mysterious death

of a publisher whose magazine was about to print

a damaging expose a Meanwhile, two episodes later,

in season one, Chariot of Gold, several members

of a club for geniuses are murdered and the trail

leads Michael and Kit to the site of a seemingly

unrelated archaeological dig, you know. And you

know what, again, I don't know what was going

on with these writers and these producers and

whatever, but seriously, season one. Move white

bird to episode. All you gotta do is take white

bird move it from episode 19 of season one to

episode 22 So essentially you would go instead

of going from chariot of gold to white bird You

would go chariot of gold night moves Nobody does

it better short notice and then white bird because

it makes more damn sense Yes to have white bird

as the ending of season one. Yes. Yeah, and that

would also introduce Stevie Mm -hmm. Yep. What

are you looking for? The microwave and the sun

lamp. Really? I've never seen anything like this

before. I'm still amazed if someone has a phone

in their car. All right. Might as well deal with

this now. Kit, say hello to Stephanie. Stephanie,

meet my car, Kit. Say something kid Come on say

something she's gonna think I'm crazy Hello Stephanie

Michael isn't crazy not in the clinical sense

at least thank you very much he talks How can

a car? Talk computers don't ask me how I don't

know I don't want to know Yeah, so there are

plenty of well, let me ask you this Let's let's

let's go here because you're you're saying put

white bird at the end of season one, right? Why

not? And I'm gonna let's see how much sense this

would make to you and you can you can give me

your strong On this or not? No, cuz hear me out.

So you have night of the Phoenix, which is a

two -parter. Yep And you know, he becomes Michael

might Yeah. But why not put White Bird after

Night of the Phoenix? I think it's too soon.

You think so? Yeah. So looking at this, and this

was not how I planned this episode to go, but

we're going to do this. No, I'm sorry. No, no,

no, no. This is great. This is awesome, because

no. So you go from Night of the Phoenix part.

And originally, I hate that even Netflix, I hate

that all these streaming services split this

up into part one and part two. I remember Night

of the Phoenix and Night of the Juggernaut. They

were one long episode. It was one long episode.

Yeah, exactly. So from Night of the Phoenix to,

I'm just gonna say Night of the Phoenix, from

that episode to Deadly Maneuvers to Good Day

at White Rock to Slam and Sammy's Stunt Show

Spectacular. Just my bill not a drop to drink

no big thing trust doesn't okay, so What I would

do is I would put I would take Let's see a good

day at White Rock Michaels vacation at White

Rock is put on hold went to rival, but okay,

so Basically what I would do is I got an episode

shouldn't have been episode four though Well,

no, I don't mind that because you know, you have

to have a couple of episodes of the week kind

of thing between the continuity So you take the

first four episodes leave them the way they are

you take trust doesn't rust move it from episode

9 To episode 5. So basically it would go good

day at White Rock Trust doesn't rust slam and

Sammy just my bill not a drop to drink. No big

thing inside out the final verdict And then episode

12, which is a plush ride and then forget me

not me not Hearts of stuff like literally like

all of the like, I don't know But yeah, you could

essentially put trust doesn't rust as the fifth

episode So the ninth episode if you're gonna

do continuity kind of thing You know like again

the the ending part of it like I would not put

trust doesn't rust as The season finale I would

put white bird as the season one finale I would

almost put Goliath Returns as the season two

finale. That would make sense. I didn't understand

why they did that because it would have made

absolutely no sense. So I think what they should

have done was they had all these other ones,

you know, they had Goliath, all the other episodes.

And then before the season finale, Goliath Returns,

I think they should have done Mouth of the Snake.

Yeah, so I'm looking at this now and I remember.

So, Mouth of the Snake was the back door. Yeah,

the back door pilot. For David Dalton, yeah.

Yep, Code of Vengeance. And I've seen that movie

on YouTube. Okay. So, I'm trying to see... It's

okay, but it does kind of a Split Tonight writer,

but it's not really... Yeah, it's it was never

gonna be yeah, I mean so okay, so you have Goliath

start, you know starting off the season You have

all these other episodes like custom kit and

soul soul survivor Maybe because that was the

kind of debut of Adrian Sinclair Kind of cuz

Anne Turkle is in that episode. That was a weird.

Well, it's not the day. No, no Yes Yeah, okay

Sinclair whatever But yeah, so she kind of appeared

in Goliath and then her next like so yeah You

could move soul survivor up to be closer to Goliath

and then at the end of the season for season

two I Don't know what I think she was in Goliath

returns. Oh, yes. She was of course She was the

one that broke him out. But my point is is that

Don't know how like I think I would take Okay,

so I'm trying to see where this is Goliath returns

according to Netflix part one and two are episode

18 and 19 of season two, right? I would move

those down to be episode 23 and 24 So in their

place you would have a good night's work So in

their place you would have speed demons which

is before where it actually is now a good nights

work and then you would have mouth of the snake

part one part two and then you would have let

it be me. And then you would have. Goliath Goliath

returns as the ender and you can put big iron

wherever because it makes no goddamn sense where

no it was Again, it was one of those villains

of the week villain of the week episodes and

that was just like brother's keeper Yeah, that

was villain of the week. Yeah Season 3 obviously

opens with night of the drones You have a bunch

of other Yeah, so Ice Bandits, Night of the Fast

Lane. Yeah, so basically, for me personally,

and it's only because it creeps me the hell out

as a kid, and it creeps me the hell out as an

adult, but I would do Night of the Drones, part

one and two. I would take Halloween Night from

episode five to episode three, and then I would

take Kit versus Car from episode six to episode

four. So it would go Night of the Drones, part

one and two, Halloween Night. And then kit versus

car and then you could have night ice band. It's

night nights in the fast lane The rotten apples.

Oh god, I will never watch that episode. I think

neither the fast lane though. That's kind of

hard to because You've got to think about that

one because that was kind of when You know you

had Michael's partner You know that was kind

of that was kind of You know Courtney because

think about it, you know that was supposed to

be well, no because remember he was saying to

Devin Well, that was that was his partner when

he was a rookie cop when when Michael was a rookie

cop Okay, so fine. Whatever. I'm just saying

the ice bandits makes no goddamn sense. No, it

doesn't Yeah, so does not yeah, so And then looking

through the rest of this Again the ice bandits

was a villain of the week thing. Yeah. Yeah,

and again, I would so this oh god Season three

ended with circus nights. No, so season three

okay, so we We agree that if we were to move

these around and to make them as into a custom

playlist night of the drones Knights in the fast

lane Halloween night kit versus car We agree

on that. We can move ice bandits after kit versus

car, and then you got the rotten apples. Night

in disgrace. That was a horrible episode. Rotten

apples. I will never watch that again. Night

in disgrace. Dead of night. Lost night. Lost

night after a giant explosion damages kids' memory.

A young boy finds... Oh, okay. No, that's not

what I thought it was. A custom -made killer.

Night by a nose. Okay, so... Basically, the only

other change I would make is I would take Junkyard

Dog from episode 14 and put it as episode 22.

So basically how it would run is you'd have Night

of the Chameleon, Custom Made Killer, Night Binos,

Buyout, Nightlines, 19th Hole, Night and nerd.

Oh god, I forgot about that one. I don't know

that. That's a good one, but it is, but it was

kind of dorky. Yeah. 10 wheel trouble night and

retreat night strike and then circus night. And

then you would end it with junkyard dog. And

we've already talked about this at length, but

season four, the only way to end season four

is center of roses. So, you know, that's, that's

the only, that's the only way. And that's uh,

That's us reordering the 92 episodes of Knight

Rider, folks. There you go. I know that David

fought with NBC to get The Scent of Roses put

as the last episode. Yeah. But they didn't feel

that way. And I was like, are you kidding me?

I was like, for him not even being in marketing,

I'm like, that's genius. Yeah. Well, again, Scent

of Roses is a full circle episode. You have we

already had White Bird and Let It Be Me. So you

already have that Stevie Arc. The third part

of the arc should be the last episode of the

series, because in that episode, he leaves the

foundation. He goes on to have a life. And then

obviously, the, you know, life is shattered.

Devin, I'm tired. Seems as if it's been a long

process getting tired. I think I'm finally there.

Yeah, well, like Devin said, you know, even though

somebody out there wants you dead, you know,

all this and all that, he's going to go on and

live his life and whatever else. And tragedy

happens to him, which makes him go back twice

as hard to Durant and everybody else. Right.

Because he wants revenge because his wife is

killed even though the bullets were meant for

him Yeah, but he's shielding his wife and so

his wife gets killed instead and so he's like

I want revenge Yeah, and you took the one thing

away from me that made me happy. Yep, and how

that episode ends is Him and Kit on the beach

going back Yeah, it was it's him and kid on the

beach and he's obviously remembering Stevie and

everything else and all this and all that When

I was very young I heard something and for the

life of me I can't seem to get it out of my mind

You may break you may shatter the bus But the

scent of the roses will hang around it still

The scent of the roses will linger forever And

then you hear that music click click in close

to the end right the finale realization that

you know We're going home, kid. We're family.

We're going to the Foundation. And that's the

only way that series should have ended. It should

not have ended on Voodoo Night of all episodes.

Hey, hey, I hated it. I hated that episode. It

was such to a point where when we were doing

this podcast. We both cringed. I, well, yes,

but like, if I remember right, there was a time

where I was going to say, fuck it, put Voodoo

Night in incense place. Put said to the end and

have us and it the way it should have been I

don't think I wish we should have done that Didn't

but you know what when I went and listened to

a lot of the episodes. I wish we had done that

Yeah, it would have made more sense and look

folks. We're just Knight Rider fans. We weren't

on the production We weren't in whatever we didn't

know what was going on back then but we were

kids You know, exactly. Hindsight is 2020. And

because we are super fans of this show, of these

characters, of this world, of the Knight Rider,

you know, I am all, for years now, I have, as

long as there is continuity, I have been all

about the continuity. I wrote up a damn blog

post trying to figure out who the hell Michael

Knight knocked up. To get my tricks like I mean

come on like I'm trying to think like who else

and what I get it was an off -screen thing The

funny thing is her name was I believe Justin

Bruning's characters, I believe her mother's

name his mother's name was Jennifer and I'm just

like, oh please god no No, no, no, no, no, that

would be so weird The daughter of Wilton Knight.

Knight Rider, 40 years. It's just so fun. It's

great. Regardless of what we say about the villain

of the week or the throwaway episodes, some of

the episodes that we always praise and we always

talk about, people need to just watch those.

Show dry dry dry your own conclusions. Uh -huh

You know don't I mean, okay. Yes, listen to us,

but don't take our word as the final say Draw

your own conclusions like okay our Dion and TFG

one Mike right, you know are these throwaway

episodes or oh, you know Some of this is good,

but some of this is just Matt You know Most of

the ones that I've said that I like that aren't

technically full -on like plush ride. That's

not really continuity Tobaz connection is not

continuity, but they are the better of the one

-off episodes kind of thing So yeah, um What

else do we want to say about this show? I'm glad

that there are historians out there. I'm gonna

mention this. Yeah the Knight Rider historians

I am so glad that they're able to bring us things

that either a we forgot or B they go through

now they they basically go through what we've

done and that's the entire commentary yeah they

they do so Joe I believe is his name uh -huh

Joe and AJ Yeah, he does all kinds of stuff.

He has been on a mission to find the trailer

because they have the tractor and they're going

to be restoring the semi and a lot of his videos

are tearing this down or tearing that down or

doing this or doing that, you know, doing all

this research and everything else. And they also

do interviews and everything else. I love watching

their stuff. I remember Joe wrote one of the

Knight Rider books years ago. So there's that.

I would love to be able to get a hold of Nick

Nugent's books because Nick has written several

books. What I have noticed in the last couple

of years is that there are a lot of cool Knight

Rider remixes out there. Oh, yeah, not not just

the original mixes But people have also done

the Knight Rider 2000 remix. Oh Yeah, they've

done some Knight Rider 2000 remixes and they're

actually kind of cool sounding yeah, and I so

I was trying to create so I was trying to recreate

a New intro and people have already heard this

by now Because I probably put it at the beginning

of the episode But I was trying to recreate our

intro and our intro was always at least for the

first little while Obviously, it was one of the

four themes from the original show At one point

or another it was part of that part of 2000 part

of team and pretty much all of 2008 right I know

technically you're not supposed to do that, but

I don't care I did it anyway, so I'm trying to

recreate this and look folks team Knight Rider

is what it is, but I So in the middle of you

were able to I think you were able to get away

with it like beforehand because not a lot of

people jumped on people for copyright and well

they did but they didn't it just depends on It

just depends on things that we're not going to

get into on the air here. It's just one of those

things where I'm trying to recreate and make

a new thing to figure out how we're going to

have this episode and this whatever we're going

to end up future doing. So there was somebody

named Cinderella that did the house remix. There

was Enzo Maralago. Enzo, I hope I did not...

Correct your name. I probably did. But Enzo has

the 2020 remix, and he has a Knight Rider Cruisen

remix from 2021. I will have to send these YouTube

videos to you so you can listen to them, but...

I will. I'll check them out. I basically ripped

these as MP3 files, and I put them in a playlist

in Spotify. And then you have... I absolutely

love is you have I don't know if you've ever

heard of an 8 -bit universe. I have they've got

a game out So they have a theme out of Knight

Rider but a bit universe does amazing things

with everything you can think of like It's great.

And then there's Damon Paul Damon Paul is a musician

or his stuff yet. Okay, so I'll send that to

you, but Basically, Damon Paul, he has done this

Knight Rider, what's it called? Knight Rider

New Edition, and he has a club mix version, he

has a Price and Valdez remix, he has the Festival

mix, he has the Bytes Brothers remix, and he

has the Sam Rockwell remix. I have the Sam Rockwell

remix in my Knight Rider remixes playlist, and

it is the last track. So how my playlist goes

is the Enzo tracks first. So the 2020 remix,

the Cruzen remix from Enzo, and then the Cinderella

house mix, the 8 -bit universe mix, and then

Damon's Sam Rockwell mix to close it out. I have

i'm not normally a remix person because i like

the original stuff that stew and don and everybody

else did however these mixes are so cool each

one of them is so cool and so interesting and

so great like they're just things that that.

Damon Paul did in the Sam Rockwell remix that

should not make sense to the Knight Rider theme,

but it makes so much freaking sense and it's

so good and it's so fun. There's another guy,

I don't know if he's from Italy or where he's

from, but his name is Nicola Fassinal, I think.

I butchered the last name, sorry, but he features

Terry B on vocals. And this and the song is called

stand up I do believe And it uses it uses Knight

Rider the you know, it uses Knight Rider as the

sample and she's singing over it but I think

it's pretty cool because it's kind of a You know,

it's kind of a house mix and you hear a car driving

and you hear the little the scanner from kit.

Yeah So it's it's it's kind of cool. I think

so. Anyway, very cool. Very cool So like we said

folks Knight Rider at 40, holy crap. We're both

old And then what was it I know this is a Another

little side note, but we just realized that is

it next year or the year after a couple years

from now We're gonna be hitting 40 years of Transformers

g1. Yep Yep, yep, yep 40 years. Holy crap So

yeah folks, that's it I think for now and like

I said Keep your ears peeled because I'm and

I'm going to be digging into this I'm gonna have

to email the night writer historians about this

because There was a rumor flying around that

Don was supposed to release another set of soundtracks.

I don't know Yeah, I don't know if it's you know,

if it's gonna happen. I don't know if Universal

has Given him the okay I actually heard this

little piece of news from Knight Rider historians.

Yeah, so I'll have to email them and go okay

Did is this true or is this just a rumor right

now? So I think it's just a rumor because I haven't

heard any more about it Not just from them, but

I also I follow Don on Facebook. Okay, cool.

Cool Yeah, you'll have to let us know about that

next time around I don't know when this is gonna

happen, but we're gonna try our best to cover

the Knight Rider comic that Lion Forge did with

Jeffrey. You're going to be talking about that

more than me. That's a visual thing, damn it.

Sorry. It's not your fault. You want me to find

somebody else? I can find somebody else. No,

it's not your fault. It's just I actually tried

to see if I could get my screen reader to interact

with at least the text part of it. And the way

it's done, it's impossible. Yeah. Sorry. Nah,

it's not your fault. It's just the way they did

it. Yeah. But yeah, so folks, that's... Yeah,

that's the way it is. It just sucks. We're gonna

take a quick break. You're gonna hear some ads

and some other stuff, and we'll come back to

close the show after this. Michael, you've chosen

to do the most difficult thing a man in your

position can do. To help someone you love. If

it had been anyone other than you. And that girl

in there, anyone other than who she is, I'd forbid

it. Every Friday on the Geekcast Radio Network.

No, they won't. No, they probably won't. There's

something I gotta tell you. I had you on my monitor

and I don't understand. This is your life, your

program, the same way I am. I don't think of

it this way. My computer banks are overtaxed.

Goodbye, pal. Michael, I may not be flesh and

blood, but I am a friend. And I wish you happiness.

But I still don't understand. In a way... Neither

do I. All right, folks, we are back here on Beyond

the Night, and it's funny. I don't remember what

happened or where this... I was trying to find

this on Twitter, and I thought it was in my DMs.

It might not be. It might be on Facebook. I don't

know. Last year, somebody contacted me because

I've had the Beyond the Night at Beyond the Night

on Twitter since we started the podcast because

my thing was... If I do a new podcast, I have

to create social media specifically for that

podcast. So I've had the Beyond the Night Twitter

for years. And obviously, since we haven't done

the show since 2014, I haven't really done anything

with Twitter and I haven't really updated it

or anything like that. Well, now I'm updating

it. But this person, I don't know who he was

or whatever. He wanted to create Beyond the Night.

and he wanted to do a Batman Beyond podcast.

And while I absolutely love Batman Beyond and

Beyond the Night for Batman Beyond sounds great,

yeah, he was like, could you give me the, I'm

like, nope, sorry, dude, this is Knight Rider

podcast. Like as much as I love Batman Beyond,

you need to figure out a different title for

your show. Oh wow. Yeah. That's funny. Like he

was like, oh you haven't posted to this in years.

Could you you know, let I'm like, nope Not even

because it lay with this was last year and I

had literally just found the remixes that I have

been talking about the Enzo remix and all of

that So I was like, hey, guess what? We have

all these remixes and beyond the nights coming

back and blah blah blah blah. So So yeah speaking

of Knight Rider really quick I don't know if

you've had a chance to YouTube this but I Happen

to you know David David and kit talking about

drugs and the fact that they're bad and things

like that And I thought it was kind of cool This

would have been probably about I don't know 84

85 Where you saw kit? just basically telling

kids, you know, drugs are bad, don't use drugs.

And I was just like, that's awesome. And then

there was another one I saw, but I can't find

it for the life of me. I've gone digging on YouTube

where Kit tells people, you know, you know, to

buckle up, use safety bolts. And I've not been

able to find that particular commercial. And

I saw that that particular one on the Knight

Rider historians, but I've not contacted them

and went, how did you find that? You know, I

thought it was kind of cool. yeah no absolutely

no I haven't seen that stuff but I will definitely

have to have to look into it yeah at some point

all right folks I think that's gonna do it for

us that's it that's it so thank you for joining

us here on Beyond the Night there's always get

in contact with us we'll leave feedback for the

show visit the website geekcastradio .com where

you can listen to and comment on all of our content

You can email us, feedback at geekcastradio .com.

Follow us on Twitter, at Beyond The Night for

follow at GeekCast Radio for all the other network

updates. What is your Twitter, sir? Well, my

Twitter is themusicman08. I'm also there on Haytel,

if you use that, or Zello. You can also follow

me on Facebook at themusicman1 at gmx .us. I've

got to say thank you, man, for doing this and

having me along for, you know, 40, the 40th anniversary.

My God, like I said, I feel old at the beginning

of this recording because I mean, what we did

this like 11 years ago. And yeah, 2014, 2022.

Yeah. Something like something like 11 years

ago, somewhere in there. Well, we start date.

Yeah. What? 2012. 2012 to 2014 was when the show

originally aired so So yeah, but we're back sort

of we're gonna do some other stuff and and Yeah,

cuz I have We mentioned this off. Well, we mentioned

this off air because we always mention shit off

air that people don't hear but Originally, because

this is episode 51 of the show because of the

episode zero. Episode zero, yeah. We were going

to do episode 50 as... We were going to do an

all -encompassing episode 50 grand finale of

the show featuring a music spotlight on Hasselhoff,

Phillips, and Peak, along with Knight Rider merchandise

and Knight Rider customs. Well now all of those

can be new episodes individually. So episode

52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57. But that'll work though

because it'll make it easier on us and we don't

have to, we don't have to cram it all in one

big giant episode. Absolutely. So that's the,

like I said, that's the plan. Somehow we're going

to read this comic, obviously. So do we want

to talk about this? I think we should. So, I

was blind. Being blind. No! What? What are you

doing? What do you mean what am I doing? Because

every time you're like, should we talk about

this? I think we should. And I'm like, every

time you say that, that worries me. No, no, no.

So, okay. So, I am legally blind. I have been

legally blind since birth. Right. have, without

correction, I have 2200 vision in both eyes,

I have 2200 in my right eye, I have 2400 in my

left eye. If I were to get glasses, my vision

would improve to 2060 in both, and 2060 on the

right, and then 2100 on the left. My problem

is, is that every time I've had glasses, is that

Put them on take them off put them on take them

off and it's like I could wear my glasses all

day long But if I want to lay down and relax

I take them off and whatever else and so I just

I've never and I can't do contacts because of

the cerebral palsy and everything else and the

bad dexterity I'd end up you know that old saying

yo shit. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm gonna poke my

eye out Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

I don't like You need two hands to pull your

eyes open and to put the you know, I'm not dealing

with contacts. So I haven't had glasses in years

and I'm sort of OK with it and whatever else.

But you on the other hand, your story is I am

legally blind just in the one eye. I have a prosthetic

in the left. I have not had a visual checkup

in years, but I think it's 2400, so I don't read.

Regular print. I don't have a CCTV for those

of you who don't know what that is. It's basically

a TV Close -circuit TV that will make the images

bigger. So of course my Methods of reading are

audio audible rather Braille You know audible

or Braille or computer speech or as TFG one Mike

called it yesterday a talkbox, which I thought

But I could see why he'd say that because it

is talking and there's some type of box that's

you know, it's a speaker So it's something so

I can see why you call it that but I can't read

print so we're gonna talk about the comic at

some point and I you know, like I said at the

beginning or not at the beginning but earlier

in the episode to you know in today's podcast

I have tried messing with that comic I think

I tried messing with it for an hour and there's

the way that it's done and it's it's not TFG's

fault It's not my fault. It's just the way that

lion who is it lions? It's lion force. Yeah.

Yeah lion force. It's the way that they did it.

So I can't write them and go hey Would you mind

making just a regular text version with minus

all the colors? Because they have to make money

and you know that type of thing. So It's it's

a bit tricky with print but you know like, you

know and like Mike I have cerebral palsy on the

right hand side So, you know there are third,

you know I'm not I'm we're too old disabled people

folks. Leave us alone I know look I could probably

do better than Mike and wear one of those damn

visors like Jordy LaForge Well, it's funny you

say that you know you like As long as I can figure

out how to write it out script style. I could

probably It would take me a long ass time, but

I could probably write that out for you That's

not like that's not a problem at all. The thing

with me is though with comics is that It's not

just a written medium. It's a visual medium.

It's a visual if you need to be able to see The

style that it's drawn in and things like that

I just wasn't sure and obviously even though

we've been longtime friends and even though we

call each other names and Whatever it's like,

you know, there are limits. Yeah both for both

of us Yeah, and sadly it it doesn't matter or

it does and doesn't matter whether it's whether

we're black or white because Vision is vision

and when you don't have the vision that you're

supposed to have or whatever and and You know

for me. It's like my right eye is my dominant

eye I basically have no peripheral where my left

eye is like a all the periphery is over here

so I can look at I can look at my Modem my computer

and if I stretch it a little bit that's out of

my right eye and my left eye I can look at my

computer and other things and whatever else but

yeah so this has been a long literally I have

to literally turn my head in order to keep things

in focus so I have no peripheral vision at all

I can't look out the sides you know the side

of my eye so if I want to focus on something

I have to literally be right in front of it it

can't just be off to the side and you know I

can't look at a light I can tell it's there But

I won't be able to tell you what the source of

that light is, unless I'm literally looking at

that object in question. Yeah. What a strange

way to end this 40th anniversary episode, folks.

But that's who we are. And I have always said

from day one, when I first started podcasting,

the TFG one mic thing is not just me putting

on a character or me having a screen name. It's

me. It's just the screen name I go by because

I'm a huge Transformers fan and whatever else.

And there is no separate persona. You get what

you get, whether it's good or bad. And you know

what? I believe in fully being honest with the

audience, no matter what podcast I'm on. And

if you can't handle that, well, then that's your

problem. That too. So we hope you enjoyed this

episode of Beyond the Night and wish you'll join

us next time when we'll maybe be reviewing the

comic. I don't know what we're doing next time.

For now, I am TF2 and Mike with... The Music

Man 08 Dion. Alright, Kit, close the show! I'll

get right on it, Michael. And keep... Scan appealed.

Right. Michael Knight, a lone crusader in a dangerous

world. The world of the Knight Rider.
