Beyond The Knight
Knight Rider Season 2 Episodes Goliath, Brother’s Keeper, and Merchants of Death Review

About this Episode
Night Rider, a shadowy flight into the dangerous
world of a man who does not exist. the helpless,
the powerless, in a world of criminals who operate
above the law. Welcome to Beyond the Night brought
to you by the GCN and audible .com I am one of
your Steve Jim and Mike and joining me as always
is Dion the music man Hello, sir. I get I get
to pick on you before we record. This is fun.
I enjoy this Well, just remember I'm not the
one complaining about Facebook I don't use it
anyway Okay, where was I Today we're going to
be going beyond the night and reviewing the first
three, technically four, episodes of Knight Rider
Classic Season 2. Hit the turbo boost, kid. May
I get you something? Arsenic? A little sodium
pentothal, perhaps? Elizabeth, I want you to
stop this insanity that you and Garth are planning.
Oh, David, how like Wilton you are. So dramatic.
Such a flair for hyperbole. I want you to know
that I flew to Rio de Janeiro. I found Dr. Elliott.
I also know that you were there, and I know why.
Yes, I did visit him in Rio. After all, we were
old friends. The fact that he died shortly after
I left had more to do with a bad heart than exotic
poison. I said nothing about poison. You are
a... Such a dear and so charming. But you are
so suspicious. I have no intention of sparring
with you, Elizabeth. I know that you have the
formula for Kitt's molecular bonded shell. I
also know about Red Bluff. Now, isn't that enough?
No. I believe you two already know each other.
Yes. It's been quite some time. before your African
experience. You know, you're amazing. You're
like my late father. Perhaps it's why I dislike
you so. Garth, I came here to reason with you
and your mother. It's too late for reason, Mr.
Miles. It's too late for anything but war. Our
victory, your defeat. And you will be defeated.
You... the foundation for law and government,
and Michael Knight, especially Michael Knight.
Large isn't the word. It's enormous. Goliath.
I believe it's time for a strategic withdrawal,
Michael. Not so fast. Let's see what Garth's
got in mind. My sensors detect the vehicle in
question is armored with my protective shell.
Michael, surely you're not planning to go nose
to nose with that behemoth? That's what I want
Garth to think, pal. But if we're quick enough,
we can knock out his right front wheel. I love
this uh... aspiring photojournalist i guess uh...
i don't know he uh... he finds you know the the
staging area where goliath is being built except
for except for except for he seems to think that
he can sneak around which he so can't help since
ended up getting shot uh... you know and he ends
up like i said just said getting shot and it
is revealed to be a goateed style david hassle
often i was like I remember as a kid, I was like,
wait, no. No, no, no, no. What the hell? Oh boy.
But I absolutely love this episode. It took me,
normally it wouldn't take me this long, but it
took me three days to watch this two hour episode
in order to be prepared for this show because
I have so many different things going on and
it's like, okay, I have to... Devote this time
to this this time to this and I have to do this
this this and this and this and it took me three
and a half days Because not only do I have to
and I don't mind doing this I like doing it not
only do I have to sit here and watch it and enjoy
it and write down notes and everything else as
I'm watching it I'm also going back and making
sure I can clip out certain audio bits and this
that you know they to make sure that the editing
of a show is Is you know done and everything
else? But no, I love this as I said, I think
it was either episode 7 or episode 8 where I
Honestly truly believe where Knight Rider excels
is their season premieres and where they kind
of falter is their season finale I agree And
you know, you know you went from short notice
in season 1 the last episode To to to this and
and this was amazing now when we did episode
It was either episode eight, the recap, or it
was episode six with White Bird. We had said
that what if White Bird was the season one finale?
Which would have made sense. Yeah, it would have.
Well, it would have made sense, but, you know,
it was the 80s, and nothing in the 80s made any
damn sense. Yeah, I know. Um, but, um... But
can you imagine if white bird was the season
one finale and then going you know starting with
this and going into this and I was like Oh, wow,
that would have been so cool. But no we're here
the whole plot here is Garth wants revenge on
Michael for because Wilton gave Michael everything
Garth was supposed to have and his mother is
a conniving little bitch and Everything else
and she poisons people and kills people and She's
a true Black Widow's biter. What are your overall
thoughts on Goliath as far as the plot and stuff?
The plot, interesting that we actually see David
Hasselhoff playing two parts. Yeah, I'll get
to that later. Yeah. And interesting that we
see a molecular bonded shell truck. Yeah. A truck
that sounds like a lion. Yeah. Now the story
flows very well. It's very interesting again
You know we're getting Knight Rider continuity
as far as an overall plotline within the series
really like that I Find it kind of This episode
is almost like a like two different sides of
a coin because you have on one one hand you have
Garth who you know once you know, revenge and
everything else and you've got this moron that
he's working with, Sambacuda, whatever, that
just wants the guns and the missiles and everything
else so he can, you know... Do not make fun of
the African people. It's a dumb plot! It's a
dumb fucking plot! Okay, okay, I get why... Just
don't, dude! No, no, no, I get why Samba Kuna
is there. I understand that because he helped
Garth get out of prison, et cetera, et cetera,
et cetera. But that whole aspect of it, that
could have just been cut back so much. It could
have been split. One scene, and then that's it.
You just kind of put together the rest. Pretty
much, yeah. Yeah. Any other overall thoughts
on the plot or anything what to do with this
one before we get into the good stuff and the
bad stuff a lot of twists and turns Of course
we find Devin poisoned Yeah, you know that type
of thing and of course Won't be the first time
won't be the last either Well, actually, this
was the first. Well, this was the first time
for this. This was the first time, but it won't.
Yeah, it won't be the last time is what I meant.
But, you know, a lot of a lot of good twists
and turns for this one. It's it. It'll keep you
on your on the edge of your seat as we will continually
discuss in this recording. So, oh, yes, very
much so. I have a little plan to field test Goliath
tomorrow. I expect him to be ready. By noon,
as promised. Well, this shall be completely hard
by then. Final code is scheduled to be applied
at 8 a .m. It'll reach maximum density within
an hour and a half. That's very good. What about
the rockets? They're ready for installation.
Proceed? Yes, sir. Let's turn the scanners on.
I've got a lot of notes for this, obviously.
That's no Michael Knight. Who the hell is that
guy? And even though I remember this episode,
I remember seeing it as a kid. And since then,
like the thing with the other one, the other
episode where Michael was dressed up in the ski
mask, the one that we didn't like with the inch.
The software. The software. Nobody does it better.
Yeah, yeah. You know, even though I didn't realize
that was Michael at first, I mean, obviously,
because Garth is also played by David Asselhoff,
you would think of, holy crap. You know, what
the hell? But that's no Michael Knight. I really
like the scene after Devin hangs up when kid
is driving through the sunset. I thought that
was a really cool looking shot with the car against
the backdrop. Again Stuff Michael was kept in
the dark about I like that his reaction was more
resigned this time around though Whereas in trust
doesn't rust. He was super angry, you know And
I think that it was more shock though this time
around was more it was more shock because You
know, what did will tonight do? Restructure my
face To look like, you know, to look in Garth
Knight's image, you know, so it was more shock
this time. Then then it was and trust doesn't
rust. Yeah, I really like that Goliath essentially
destroys kit. And then we get down. Yeah. Well,
you needed that and you needed that time of of
having a disconnect from the foundation and from
April because Michael actually knows how to fix
his own car. Yeah Out of the desert Yeah, I Love
the casino scene 50 ,000 they do pass 50 ,000
they don't that was great. Yeah he took the bait
we hooked him real good um now this is something
that i i don't know if it was really really like
super popular in the 80s i know in the 90s it's
really started being super popular about you
know customizing uh cars and everything else
but i love that now in 1983 a kid can tint his
own windows um i do believe that that was popular
in the 80s. It was slowly starting to come around.
Yeah. Yeah. I love how they made Goliath to be
out like a monster with a word with those roaring
sound effects. I would love to know what soundtrack
they used, because that was just so awesome.
Yeah. That was great. Here, hold this. Ouch.
Sorry. Is there anything I can do like drive?
Yeah. I love how when Michael is pulling stuff
out of Kit, Kit reacts to it. It's like, oh my
god. What are you doing? And actually, the lady
that plays Rita, we do see her in season one,
Night of the Phoenix. Yeah. I don't know if she
had a name in season one. I don't think they
had her. character named I thought they did okay
but when I saw her in this one I thought I know
the voice she's obviously older yeah I could
have sworn they did though I don't know Where
is that Let me see Goliath It's supposed to show
here it is I found that I found it. All right,
let's see Sean Southwick played by Rita Yeah,
she was in Sean Southwick Yeah, Sean Sean Southwick
played Rita. So she was in Night of the Phoenix.
Yeah Yeah, that's Lonnie Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
You know, I knew I recognized her. Well, I recognize
the voice but at first we didn't get a name Until
you know until later on in the in that episode,
you know I will say that it's amazing stunt work
with the fight between Michael and Garth You
can hardly tell it's a stunt man when their faces
aren't being shown. Yeah I mean, it's so, I mean,
just looking at it, you know, 30 years on, it's
so clearly evident that when you're not seeing
Michael's face, that it's a stunt guy with a
wig or something, or you're not seeing Gar's
face, the same thing, it's a stunt guy. But the
way that they shot it and just, I absolutely
love the way that they shot it and the way that
it made it look like David Asselhoff was punching
himself. That was great. It was just absolutely
amazing episode. What do you got for scanners
on scanners on I like the continuity first of
all, I like that that that's the one thing that
I like is a continuity on this and We find out
that Michael has an evil twin I actually like
you know, I do like the fact that Michael makes
the laser to take out Goliath Yeah, that was
awesome. That was an awesome scene also when
they knock off the Trailer I think it's a trailer
at the back. It's one of the it's it's the weak
spot where they separate the cab from the trailer.
Yeah you know obviously Garth is still driving
and He makes a snake comment about that's it.
You know David says that's how snakes are You
know you cut off their head, but they still bite.
Yeah Technically I Get your point about you know,
Michael has an evil twin Technically it would
be Garth has a good twin seeing as how Garth
came first Yeah, but we didn't see him until
this right episode Yeah What else did you like
about this and now here's a question how the
hell do you beat three consecutive sentences
He probably just escaped. What I'm saying though
is that I can see where you get the Sambacuna
comment from, is how do you beat three consecutive
sentences, you're out, you build Goliath, you
get the formula for Kit's molecular bondage shell,
and I know this is supposed to be a scanner,
so it's more of a question. So how do you do
all this within a span of 20 to 30 minutes? Well,
as we've said, in -universe time is different
than what the viewer is. I think it was a combination
of things. It was probably Elizabeth bribed the
warden, and Sanbe Kuna helped him escape, or
Sanbe Kuna was there to help finance. Well, it
wouldn't even matter about finance because...
The fucking night family, but um, I don't know
that's that's a question. I can't answer I don't
know. I don't know just just something just an
observation But like us, you know good plot good
twist good turns good action Yeah, very very
awesome There you go. No. Yeah, it was very very
very awesome Even though they're stuntmen, you
know, we get to see David Hasselhoff punching
himself, which is kind of funny Yeah It is, so
we are gonna move on. I want him dead, both of
them. They know too much already. Now, Mother,
if it were up to you, half the world would be
dead already. All she knows is what I tell her.
All he knows is what she tells him. Dead end.
Riddle. Let him chase his tail. I was hoping.
Your brush with life imprisonment would teach
you something about discipline. Discipline has
never been a problem, mother dear. Mark my words,
Michael Knight will die. After all, he was designed
by my late great father to replace me, wasn't
he? How could I possibly tolerate his life on
this earth? Michael Knight? is a living, breathing
insult to my existence. Let's turn the scanners
off. You'd think that because we love this episode
so much, there wouldn't be anything that we can
say negative about it. I've got a couple of things.
I gotta write something for this section, right?
Well, the camera shutter sound effect, yeah yeah
yeah. In the very beginning when Ron is snooping
around, his camera, you would think that that
would be heard, the shutter sound effect, unless
it was just an effect meant for us, the audience.
however all cameras even nowadays have effects
letting people know that a picture has been taken
so you would think especially back in those days
with a camera as clunky as what he had you would
think that snapper sound would have been very
loud yeah and you would think oh wait who's out
there you know so they come in and they come
out and look you know as soon as Elizabeth Knight
opened her mouth I did not trust her you too
As soon as Elizabeth Knight opened her mouth,
I did not trust her. That's what I'm saying.
Yeah. Yeah. No way. Yeah. Michael, are you sure
this is the right way? The scene where they drive
right by the men on the mountaintop. Doesn't
kid have scanners to detect people? He detected
a gunman on the hill who shot Stevie and Whitebird.
What the hell? That might have been. Was that
the scene when they were going out of the desert?
that's right Didn't have his sensors going to
that Okay next The scene right after kit says
the odds that Goliath won't brutalize him again
the people in the car are not the actors This
is this pisses me off so much because of the
simple fact that it is It isn't a stunt shot
it isn't like it It is not at all. It's just
Kit driving in the desert. It's the scene where
Michael has already rigged up the ramjet, et
cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Clearly not David
Hasselhoff and Sean Southwick. What the fuck?
It's a fucking driving scene. I don't know about
the woman, because this woman in the shot just
looks. put the picture up on Twitter for you
so you can see it. But the woman, she just looks
all kinds of fugly. But I think the guy in the
car driving that's supposed to look like Michael.
David Hasselhoff? No, it's not. It's clearly
not David Hasselhoff. Right, but it's the stunt
guy? I think it might be Jack. What's his name,
the stunt guy? Jack Harris? Oh. I don't remember
if it was, I don't remember what his last name
was. Oh, that's George Barris. There's too many
people that have done this show, damn it. Yeah,
no, not George Barris. There was a guy named
Jack on the DVD set that went through and looked
at it. But I don't know. It was just one of those
things where it was like what the fuck it's a
it's a driving scene. It's not anything to where
You would need stunt people, you know, I don't
know so weird strange Pissed me off to What else
do I have Okay, why does this two -parter this
two -hour long premier, why does it end without
really tying any of the loose ends up? Like,
okay, sure, they, they, they tucked Elizabeth
and, and Sambay under the tent of, of the motorhome
and Michael and Garth fought again and they had,
you know, you know, they had that giant fight
and, you know, Michael ends up, you know, knocking
him out. But instead of going back to the foundation
and having kind of like a, you know, a a mission
briefing afterwards. Yeah. The episode just ends.
Yeah, it does. It doesn't tie anything up. Did
Elizabeth go to jail? Obviously, we know Garth
went to jail because of what will happen later
in this season. Right. But it just leaves you
hanging there, essentially off a cliff of like,
what the fuck is going on now? Did you have anything
that you didn't like about Goliath? Guess I guess
there's one of the nitpicks I had was When they
find You know the the poison scene where they
find one of the people dead Yeah, I didn't like
that scene Because then you see the next scene
you see after you after you see that as you see
Elizabeth talking and saying, I have the formula.
This was like two scenes after Devin had gotten
poisoned. Yeah. So this was after the fact. You
see Elizabeth saying, I have the formula. And
then you see the truck being built and somebody
arriving. And it's like, OK, what happened in
between then and this? Yeah. Well, what happened
was and I understand it's your nitpick and you're
right to that. But what happened was. The the
second guy or not well for whatever one of the
three one of the not Devon one of the other two
whoever I forget Dr. Albert or whatever his name
was She had already done that that was something
she had already done because she was there two
days prior right so she poisoned hit she went
there first With that guy and poisoned him first
or killed him, right? And then, it's kind of
a backwards thing. That's what I mean. It's backwards.
Right. We see her go to Devon first, but she
is actually poisoning him second because she
already poisoned the other guy. Right. Yeah,
it's a strange set of affairs, I guess. Strange.
That would really be it, I guess. It's just,
you know, it's just backwards in some scenes.
Up next is Brothers Keeper. Michael is planted
in a prison to break on an inmate Played by Gerald
Gordon wanted by a terrorist threatening to blow
up a city. Uh, basically this is your brother
versus brother episode or brother versus half
brother. Um, you know, the brother went to prison
and the other brother fell in love with the other
brother's girlfriend and blah, blah, blah, blah.
Eventually get married. The girl, the wife gets
killed. Yeah. But I really did like this one.
I thought it was really, really cool. I thought
it was really great. I have no qualms about the
plot at all. I thought the story flowed very
well, and I thought it was great. What about
you? Same thing. We didn't have any problems
of, OK, do we need to turn the channel or turn
the DVD off in this case? Very good storyline.
Yeah, it had some heartfelt moments But you know,
it was it was a very good storyline, so that's
all I don't have any qualms either about Get
how's our time we have precisely 19 hours 48
minutes and 12 seconds I Must say Michael this
adventure does have a certain appeal. Yeah See
what you mean think of it. We're fugitives of
a sort Desperado's on the lam. We must be extremely
careful. If we're captured we could end up on
a chain gang chain gang That's the 30s pal I'd
end up in the pen stamping license plates and
I've probably been making them out of pieces
of you They'd never take me alive. Let's uh,
let's turn the scanners on I love seeing Kit
driving himself out of the semi. I thought that
was a cool scene. I do too. It's neat. I mean,
even though we know that it's like someone's
under the seats or in the back seat that the
camera doesn't show. Right. I mean, Kit driving
himself anywhere is cool, but just seeing him
do it backing out of the semi, I thought that
was really cool. That was neat. Turbo boosting
into prison. Well, that's one way to get in and
out But kid didn't um, he almost didn't make
that jump on the way out though I was gonna say
I thought his his back wheel touched the fan.
Yeah kind of did That almost didn't make it through
there Well, this episode has all the makings
of a CIA or other governmental agency written
all over it. At first it does. I love kids' description
of their predicaments. It's just so awesome.
Auto -switching license plate from Knight to
K &I 667. Is that some sort of code? It's like,
I don't know what that's like. I don't understand
what that was for, but that was neat. Well, no,
the scene was. Right, because Michael was driving,
and you see Kit's license plate, which spells
light. Right, because they want to avoid the
law. Right. So when the cop pulls up behind them,
instead of seeing K &I GHT, he sees K &I 667.
Oh, no. It would have to be 668. I was going
to say it would have to be 668, but that wouldn't
work either. No, it wouldn't. I was trying to
figure out if the three letters. I was trying
to figure out if the numbers represented. I don't
think they represented anything. They were just
there. No, I know. But if you look at it, KNI,
GHT. So that's what I thought. At first, I thought
that the 667 was for GHT. Yeah. but it's it would
it would it would be uh... it would be four g
h four four eight yeah it would be four four
eight not six six seven so uh... i love the stunt
and jump michael does but seriously how is that
planned and how did they pull it off yeah because
usually they'll show them they'll show michael
you know sneaking around the back and saying
hey kit you know you you go do this, but Kit
just shows up, and then all of a sudden Michael's
on the roof of the building. I liked it. I thought
the jump itself was cool, but at the same time,
it's like, how the hell do they do that? 45 miles
in eight minutes. Yeah, that's no problem for
Kit. And I really laughed when Michael was like,
make sure you land easy. Land easy. We got a
bomb in the back. Yeah, I thought that was great.
What about you? What'd you like about this one?
I actually liked that Michael was able to get
Peter McCord to come around Yeah, I really did
because it meant a lot, you know, it actually
got Peter to think oh wait a minute I got something
to live for my daughter and You know not just
that but I can help save a city So, you know
I get to play a hero and Lisa's eyes and you
know, and so that was that was great for me and
also Like I said the heartfelt moments which
I'd already touched on so those were my but I
also liked the action as well Yeah, it was a
really good a good action episode. Very well.
I liked the also there was a scene I liked where
Michael goes and is talking to the half -brother
Eric right Eric Fenton and They're talking chess
which is kind of Which which kind of made me
laugh because when? Michael comes out, you know,
he's talking to Kit. And one of the things that
he says to Kit is, but he plays a mean game of
chess and kids like chess. You two play chess.
Yeah. So I like that. It was very, very Michael.
We're being pursued by the police. If we stop,
we will undoubtedly blow sky high. I hate to
do this to an officer in the law. I'm picking
up a roadblock directly ahead of us. You know
what to do. What's he talking about? What are
you gonna do? Watch a kid land easy. They got
a bomb in the back Let's uh, let's turn the scanners
off I honestly I have one epic, but I really
don't have any real for this point Yeah, I mean,
it was a very well written and solid episode.
The only nitpick that I can really think of is
they say that the bomb, like when Devin and April
are explaining it, they say that the bomb can
take out a city block, et cetera, et cetera,
et cetera. Yet when it explodes in the desert,
it doesn't look like a huge explosion that can
take out a city block. It just doesn't. No, it
looks smaller. Yeah, like it's designed to take
out one small area Yeah So that was my only nitpick
for this one. So yeah, I agree with you there
We are gonna move on to the next episode now
Cars don't talk this one does it talks and it
catches arms get me out of here And finally up
today we deal with the merchants of death There
is a thunder out of the blue when Michael and
kids square off against a futuristic attack helicopter
in the hands of mercenaries This is your standard
action, villain of the week episode. But very
well done. Yeah, it was very well done. Well
done. I really did enjoy it. It has the air of
mystery to it and it was really cool. What about
you? What'd you like about the overall plot?
Well, I've said this about Michael Knight and
his past. We get to dive into a little bit of
Devon's past this time around. Right. You know,
he explains about a woman that he loved and he
lost yeah, and so, you know because obviously
their original assignment was supposed to take
them to California and Obviously Devon says California
can wait and it's like this is personal. Yeah,
this one's personal This one is for me. And so
I liked the plot. I also liked the motorcycle
scenes Yeah, I like those two funny but overall
a very well -written story Like you said, a villain
of the week type thing. You don't have to turn
your DVD off. Yeah. No, I mean, this episode
isn't bad at all. I mean, this episode is very
well done and very well written. It has good
continuity to it. Yeah, but it will. Yeah, because
it's this should have been, you know, this is
a better version of. What's that stupid... This
is a better version of daily maneuvers. Yeah.
It is honestly what it is. Thanks to the Foundation,
that's our next stop. Devin! Michael, I have
an urgent matter for you to deal with in Phoenix.
Phoenix? The new assignment's in California,
son! Surf! California can wait. Alright, what's
up? A woman named Amelia Clermont has disappeared.
Her daughter, Kamala, will fill you in. I've
put her on the Foundation jet. She will meet
you in Phoenix. Michael, this one is personal.
This one is for me. I hear you, Devin. So let's
turn the scanners on. And we pretty much already
said my first note, this one's personal. Yep.
Michael running into the local riff -raff again.
The bikers. Yes. Help! It's got my arm! Cards
don't talk. This one does! It's got my arm! Mr.
You got problems. I love it when that's great
when they try was trying to mess with this tire
Yeah, and then he looks you know, he open, you
know, he pops the scanner And you see just sit
you see David sitting there. How's my problem?
How's my big problem, bro? You know, that was
great We we actually see the ski mode button
this episode we do the first time we saw that
And as you said, it's nice. Didn't we see it
in season one, or was the ski mode just activated?
It wasn't. Ski mode was just, mainly it happened
in Slammin Shammy's stunt show Spectacular. He
just did it automatically. It wasn't. There wasn't.
Yeah. Yeah, there was no actual button here.
The button finally makes its appearance. And
as you said, it's kind of nice seeing more of
Devon's back story. I really did enjoy that.
Kit activated the tank. That is so awesome. Yeah,
that was neat. Hey, there's no one driving the
tank! And those bikers are too funny. He's like,
screw this, man. I'm done messing with that car.
So funny. What about you? What do you like about
this one? I like the fact that Michael introduces
Kit to Kamala. And they're both speaking French,
which is funny. And then Kit's like, I've tried
to interest Michael in the romance languages,
but he prefers things like girls in bikinis and
cheeseburgers and rock and roll. All right, Kit,
that'll do. And then the other scene I like,
well, it's in the same scene, but the other part
of that I liked was, are you hungry? I hadn't
thought about it. Why? I make a dynamite cheeseburger.
And they both laugh. So that was that was neat.
That was kind of it. And that was obviously,
too, when we saw the bikers at firsthand. Right.
Yeah, that was kind of cool. That was that was
a funny moment for me. And I also. I think. Kind
of I also liked the fact that. Kamala was opening
up a little bit so that they could get the background
on her mother before. Right. Yeah. So that was
good continuity as well there. Now, was this
more of a question? Sure. Was this was it the
exact same actress for playing Kamala and her
mother? You know, I don't know. Because they
have that whole scene of they look just alike.
They look just alike. And then they dress her
up to look like her mother. And she looks just
like the actress that played her mother. Yes.
And then you see Kamala. Yeah. Yeah. I don't
know. That's a very good question. Because her
mother never had any speaking parts. Yeah. So
that's a very good question. So let's turn the
scanners off. Again, I really, outside of Goliath,
obviously, because we both love Goliath. But
again, this week's podcast doesn't have a whole
lot of stuff that. We can rage on because these
through these episodes are all very very well
done. They are I do I do have two things Something
I wouldn't normally comment on if I hadn't watched
like the last four years of HGTV, but that is
such an 80s kitchen Oh my god, what the fuck
were designers thinking in the 80s? That's right
That kitchen is so yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, cuz
it was kind of the kind of the dingy type Yeah,
kind of the dingy type kitchen and whatnot. And
thus the plot thins. I really can't stand the
buildup to a great plot. And then when the douchebag
villain is revealed, it gets so lame, because
it's revealed that it's the congressman or the
congressman's aide and whatever else. Yeah, it's
the congressman. Yeah, is in league with the
other guy. Right. And it's like, really, that's
the whole deal here. Oh, corrupt government again.
Yes, to hell with corrupt government. God damn
it. What did you have anything you didn't like
about this one? Like I said, kind of we we figure
out that it's the congressman. Why didn't we
why didn't we see some kind of connection beforehand?
But I guess that would really be it. I kind of
find it also interesting that this congressman
has this smug look on his face like, you know,
even though Devin is talking to him, but you
see the congressman there with the smug look
on his face like, you'll never figure it out.
Good luck. It's like, you know, we know what
we're doing. We're going to try to cover our
backsides, but eventually the foundation finds
out. You know, good luck on that. Yeah, exactly.
There you go. We are gonna take a quick break.
You're gonna hear some Knight Rider quotes and
all that stuff from the episodes today, and we're
gonna hear some other ads, and we'll come back
to close the show after this. It wasn't a fair
fight, April. It was like putting Sugar Ray in
the ring with an overgrown heavyweight. I'm sure
it was, kid. It won't happen again, I can assure
you of that. Well, it better not. We've got to
patch together with scotch tape and bailing wire
as it is. If I ever see that snout -nosed ignoramus
again... You better hope he's heading in the
opposite direction. I'm already reviewing my
computer logs of our confrontation. In a matter
of hours, I'll know everything there is to know
about that banana -headed bovine. You tell him,
kid. Michael, I'm getting a reading about a mile
further down the road. All right, what you got?

All right. How do we think season two has started
off so far? It's great for Goliath. That was
a good season two opener and I'm actually glad
it was done that way. Brothers Keeper was very
good and also Merchants of Death So we've had
three action -packed well one two three four
if you want to call it that yeah action -packed
filled episodes Even though one is a two -parter
You know I Think to you know the rest of season
two will have to see how well it plays out We've
got four good ones so far. You know we'll have
to just see how the rest of it plays out And
I'm sure we'll mention all of it Oh, yes. So
what do you rank Goliath? As if I didn't already
know. Five? Yeah. Same here. Five kits. What
about Brother's Keeper? You know, I actually
have to give that one a five. I'm going to give
it a four. Really? Yeah. I liked it, but there
was just a couple of little things that just
kind of didn't make me absolutely all the way
love it. What about Merchants of Death? Ooh.
I have to give this one a five as well. Really?
I give it a three. That plot reveal was so, like...
Well, okay, five, okay. Let me do it this way.
Five on the plot and the fact that it was written
really well. Okay. But three on the twist. Okay.
Because of the fact of the congressman, you know,
not so much the congressman, but just... You
know It's it's such a weird plot twist Yeah,
so it's five five for the for its well For five
for being well written and three for the twist.

a confession. I'm rather pleased our life of
crime has come to an end. Well, now that makes
two of us. What's the matter? Are we living in
the fast lane, pal? No, it's simply that my research
indicates that not one vehicle or steed of a
its owner. Nor did they share in any of the criminal
profits. It's quite clear. Crime doesn't pay.
Kid, that APB's off now, right? That's correct,
Michael. Good. We're taking a long, leisurely
drive. To the beach What are they gonna do arrest
us besides if they do we got a great getaway
