episode of the Geek Cast Radio Network where
we continue to reveal the top 100 fictional villains
of all time. If you missed it, we already put
one episode out, so go back and listen to that
where we reveal the numbers 100 through number
76. Today, we reveal number 75 through 51. I
am one of your hosts, Optimus Solo, and joining
me today, as he was last week... Steve Megatron
Phillips, hello. Hello. Movie Revolt Dan, hello.
Hello. Our resident Top 100 guest, DJ Valentine.
In the immortal words of one of my other favorite
villains, I don't know you, but you, I never
forget the face. Mr. Chekov, isn't it? All right,
and DJ's brought backup this time. I went with
the guy with the big gun. I got a big gun in
here. The biggest gun. Mr. Matthew Stewart, hello.
Yeah, in the immortal words of my favorite villain,
you're fired. I know he already made the list,
but he's Vincent Kennedy. Man, that's America
right there. And we will make America great again.
So we're one stronger this time. So even more
opinions and even more knowledge about all of
these villains that we're about to reveal. We've
had a little bit of time now to reflect on the
first episode, the first 25 that were revealed.
People have been commenting on the website. I
think it was, I don't know, close to 30 comments
last time I checked. I haven't checked in the
last couple hours, so maybe there's more. And
you guys have had a chance to kind of dissect
this a little bit in your minds or join in on
some of the commenting. I was wondering, just
real quick before we start, any revelations over
the course of the last week since we've recorded,
Dan, that has you interested for what's coming
today? I think the biggest thing as far as the
fact that we have not gotten any comic book villains
is still the one that surprises me the most.
I don't know if that means it's going to be really
top -heavy with those, but considering just the
vast number of characters that comics have, I'm
curious to see if we have any this round. Yeah,
and typically, you know, we've done five or six
of these lists and we've had different biases
show up. We kind of mentioned that a little bit
on last week's episode. We've had certain lists
that were very 1990s heavy. We've had certain
things that get dominated by comic book characters
or properties and things like that. And we've
had, you know, some other biases show up. But
so far, those two biases are definitely not present.
Thus far, because we've had zero comic book characters
and we only had three characters that originated
in the 1990s last week. Steve, we've had so far
nine film villains. So film is reigning supreme
right now. Five that originated in novels, some
of those more famous for their film versions.
Four television villains, two cartoon, two from
plays, one from a poem, one from folklore, and
one from a video game. So Steve, what do you
make of that? It's anyone's game. as far as this
tournament. Yeah, it is shocking that we have
not had a little bit more maybe from, like Dan
said, comic books. We've only had one character
that appeared in a horror film with Chucky from
Child's Play, so that's another one that we thought
would be a frontrunner. Only one horror film
character, zero comic book characters. DJ, what's
in store for today? I think we're going to get
the rush. I think the rush is coming. Don't worry,
guys. Don't worry, comic book nerds. It's coming.
It's coming. We gave it a little shine to Shakespeare
and, you know, the rest of those guys. But now
here we come. Here we go. I think it's going
to be a lot of horror guys and a lot of comedy.
I stay true to that statement. Another thing
that I think was probably unique to last week's
episode, it probably is the most diverse section
of 25 spots in the top 100 countdown as far as
origin year. Because we were all over the place.
decades and decades and decades of different
characters so that was something that was definitely
unique matt you weren't able to be on the record
and comment uh as we revealed them but you've
seen the the list of the first 25 that were revealed
is there a big surprise as far as a character
that made the list that you wouldn't have expected
or somebody that you feel should have been much
higher that's already been revealed um looking
at the list it seems like it always seems like
um between like 175 you're gonna get those fringe
villains like kind of like almost like cult hero
uh no pun intended they're not really heroes
but cult villain -esque um characters like seeing
seeing people like um you know i think we'll
get some horror movie villains i mean seeing
chucky up there that's for good measure no he
is like a real villain uh if i'm gonna talk about
his horror movies in general but Good mix of
everything. Like I kind of said before, Vince
McMahon made it up there. That was a nice surprise
up there. He is probably one of the best soap
opera villains I could probably think of. But
overall, it's a cool mixed bag of seeing from
100 to 75. But looking at the list, I see all
these villains kind of fit that kind of fringy
element. So the only thing I would maybe say
up there is... Maybe Starscream, just for the
nostalgia purpose of Transformers and things
like that, maybe a little bit higher, just being
a cartoon villain. But other than that, I mean,
it's a pretty nice mixed bag that I'm really
looking at and liking right now so far. But we'll
definitely get the rush. We'll get the horror.
We'll get plenty of comic book villains, if not
here, but very, very soon. Because comic book
villains just kind of fit that villain mold.
And we'll be getting a ton of those coming up
soon. Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head
there that this is the fringe 25, usually, as
far as what we've seen over the course of all
the different countdowns we've done. As we get
into the 75 through 51, that's where it's kind
of a mixture. It's a mixture of people that were
just on a ton of lists or still a few of those
fringe ones kind of finding their way in. But
definitely a mixed bag. We'll have to wait and
see if there's some themes or some more commonalities
that start to creep up as we get into these future
episodes. But definitely diverse and mixed bag
for that first episode. So let's get right into
the countdown for today with our number 75 pick.
I'm interested to hear your guys' take. One thing
that we ended last week's countdown with that
section of 25, we had like four or five out of
the last like six or seven characters that predated
1900. And we're starting with another one today.
So let's go back to right around the 1600s, 1599,
somewhere in that range for a character that
originated. In a Shakespeare play. So Shakespeare
being very well represented so far. And we're
going to Claudius at number 75. So he appeared
on 24 % of the list. Actually appeared in a top
10 from the group list submitted by Simplistic
Reviews. So we're going to start with both of
you guys. DJ, what do you think of Claudius being
here at number 75? The guy is a piece of shit.
To say the least. To say the least. You gotta
understand what this guy did. I think incest
is back in style thanks to Game of Thrones, but
this guy's like, doesn't he kill his brother
-in -law to bang his sister? No, he kills his
brother to marry his sister -in -law. He does
a whole bunch of creepy shit. The old Claudius
way. Yeah, the old Claudius way. So when he kind
of gets his – he's one of those villains that
when he gets his comeuppance, you're kind of
like, yes, good, because you hate him so much.
And in that play for him to like even share a
screen – he's all over the place. Hamlet's all
over – like he's such a huge character. For Claudius
to even hang with him is for the deplorable shit
he did. I mean, when a ghost tells you, look,
this dude killed me. He put fucking poison in
my ear. Get him. So, yeah, Claudius, I think,
is deserving to be on this list. He's a mean
man. How about you, Matt? What do you think of
Claudius? Yeah, I mean, he's one of the kind
of villains that stands up in, I guess, Shakespeare's
rogue gallery that he's created over the course
of centuries. But yeah, I mean, I'll echo everything
that DJ says. I mean, when you have ghosts coming
back from the dead saying, you got to fuck this
guy up, it goes to show. how bad of a villain
he was. But yeah, the whole kind of pseudo -incestual
thing going on with, you know, Hamlet's wife
and the giant conspiracy that he kind of creates.
And in turn, you know, he also gets two other,
you know, stupid idiots killed too. But I mean,
that was kind of their own undoing too. But he's
got a lot of blood on his hands. And in terms
of does anybody in Shakespeare poems, he's definitely
the one with the bloodiest history. Gets his
comeuppance at the end in a very excellent way.
I prefer seeing it in the Mel Gibson before he
was racist movie. But yeah, I think it's a good
pick. It's a solid villain. I'm sure a lot of
other villains over the course of time have been
copied by Claudius' way of getting things done.
So if anything, it's a nice historic ode to –
I like seeing Shakespeare kind of represented
on here because I think people forget about all
the villains that he kind of created throughout
his career. So it's good seeing Claudius. If
anything, Claudius is the best villain he created
in all of his work. So I'm with it on that. We
had Iago in last week's episode and Claudius
in this week's episode. Shakespeare finding a
way to get into the countdown multiple times.
Another thing that came up kind of interestingly
last week was we would have these like classic
literary or villains of that nature. Back to
back was something that was really pop culture.
Last week we had Grendel backed up against Vince
McMahon. And Iago backed up against Starscream.
So let's do that again. Number 74. How about
another video game villain? The second video
game villain coming in. We had Sephiroth last
week. Let's go to maybe one of the most iconic
video game villains of all time with Bowser.
At number 74, Bowser, King Koopa, whatever name
you want to go with. It is a legend no one will
forget. Everyone thought King Koopa had left
the Mushroom Kingdom, and then his doom ship
attacked. King Koopa was back with the greatest
danger ever known, his Koopa Kids. Using their
new superpowers, the Super Mario Brothers rescued
Princess Toadstool and beat back the evil Koopa
family. He made it on 48 % of the list, almost
half of the list. Little trivia here, guys. There's
only going to be one other character today that
is on as many lists as Bowser is. So the second
pick, and he is on a ton of lists. A lot of people
had him closer to the very beginning of the countdown.
So I had him at 92. Somebody else had him at
93, 89, 82, 87, 96. So a lot of people listed
him, but not very high. The highest, we did have
one person that was all the way up at 24, but
that's about as high as he got. So Steve, what
do you think? Hauser coming in here at number
74? I'm kind of not surprised because he's kind
of one of the more iconic video game characters
and animated series characters in the sense of
just Mario in general. But I don't know how strong
he is, but as far as a contender with a lot of
the people that are going to show up on this
list and that have shown up on this list, but
I think he's a little too, I think he should
have been in the back half. Yeah, maybe last
week's episode or so. Yeah, last week's episode.
But, yeah, I mean, I guess he deserves a place
in it, but not right here. dan is this something
where you know everybody was looking at the different
sources as far as you know games comics cartoons
etc etc is this something where somebody you
feel like people felt like hey i gotta include
a video game villain and if it's going to be
one it's going to be bowser or how do you think
bowser finds his way into the top 100 honestly
that's kind of why i had him on my list because
i i didn't want to have i had a couple video
game villains but i was i included bowser and
i think it's one that He probably is on here
in large part due to the game that he's a part
of. And, you know, like many kids, he was probably
the first video game villain I really got angry
about for different reasons. But, I mean, he
is, like, you know, he's pretty evil in the sense
that he just keeps kidnapping people. Like, that's
his, like, M .O. He is a serial kidnapper. Serial
turtle kidnapper. Yeah. Yeah, so there's that.
He's kind of a dragon and a turtle, so I don't
know what his mom and dad are like. Well, we
already know he's not much different than how
Hollywood's turning out right now. That's true.
He's got a lot. He got a Weinstein tendency to
him. Yes. Yes, he does DJ Matt, what do you think
of Bowser showing up on the countdown? He's always
got another one in another castle. This is the
second Dennis Hopper character to be on the list.
Again, we are bringing up the immortal Mario
Brothers movie. Bowser is one of the first video
game villains I've ever seen, other than Mike
Tyson. So I can understand him being on this
list. I'm surprised it's not higher, but I like
where he is, kind of like at the lower half of
the second. I think he's right where he needs
to be. All right, fair enough. Matt, any other
thoughts on Bowser? Yeah, just for being an iconic
villain. I mean, there's so many better villains
that have come out recently, just in terms of
characterization. But yeah, he's just kind of
like that. character that's memorable and you
remember from being a kid like oh this guy was
like spitting fire at mario i was trying to like
save mushroom princesses and you know everybody
in another castle so just for the iconic presence
of it it makes sense but i'm glad it's not really
much higher than it is i love bowser but he's
right where he needs to be right now. So I think
so too, either here or even maybe a little bit
closer to the 100 mark, but yeah, somebody that
everybody knows, you know, everybody knows who
Bowser was. Everybody's played a game that Bowser
was featured in. It seems like, so it's one of
those that comes in more because of the universal
knowledge and iconography of, of the character,
not necessarily his, his strategic villainous
ways. Even though he does do a lot of things,
he's got, you know, villain kids, he's getting
kid, the kidnapping thing. So there's stuff there
maybe. Yeah. For 73, we're going to have our
first character that originated in a film. And
as we said in the last episode, we have a rule
for film, it seems like. You had to either be
in a film that came out in the 2000s or the 80s.
We said that multiple times, and so far it's
been true. So let's keep that going. This is
from a film from the 2000s, although very recently.
And I guess when I say 2000s, I'm somewhat cheating
since it's been 17 years now, and I'm kind of
including it all in one. How about 2015? for
a film that I think DJ might have a couple things
to say about. Let's go with Immortan Joe from
Mad Max Fury Road. So the 2015 character. DJ,
you had a lot to say when this film came out.
What do you think about this one? Don't be addicted
to water. Immortan Joe is like... an apocalyptic
Darth Vader. And again, speaking of Weinstein
tendencies, this guy, in terms of he's kind of
a symbol for chauvinistic male tendencies toward
women, and he's owning them like slaves, and
he's just one of those... First off, his look
is awesome. The way they designed his look, his
mask, the teeth, and everything. And he's just
a big fat guy with a suit, but the way that suit
looks, he's very intimidating. But just the way,
the voice, everything around this guy, especially
because this is Toe Cutter from the first Mad
Max, the actor anyway. I really, again, Mad Max,
that's not a lot of things I don't like about
that movie. I mean, Nathan Jones is awesome in
that movie. Nathan Jones, folks. So yeah, Morton
Joe is pretty awesome. Only thing I would say.
Which I did like at the time. I did like that
the main villain is fighting the main character,
which is Furiosa. Max really doesn't have a lot
of interaction with Immortan Joe in that movie.
It's essentially Furiosa versus him. And I kind
of wish there was a... I don't want to spoil
the movie. The way his character gets his comeuppance
is so like, whoa! You don't even get like a chance
to relish it. It's just like done. But that was
that'd be the only negative I'd say about him.
But as a character, he's awesome and he's scary
and he's kind of funny. So, yeah, I go Morton
Joe's awesome. Dan, is this a recency bias since
he was just appeared in a film, you know, within
a couple of years ago, 2015, or is a Morton Joe,
you know, deserving of a spot in number 73 here?
I don't know. I feel like we just got done talking
about a character from Shakespeare, and then
it seems like, in comparison, you're like, well,
I don't know. I like, I mean, Memex is a great
film. And I agree with TJ that the look of Immortan
Joe is phenomenal. It's a great character design.
And I don't know, per se, if I'm looking at just
specifically characters. traits that he would
stack up with some of the characters we've already
talked about. I don't think I ranked him in my
list for that reason. I do like him as a character,
but if I'm thinking, you know, he's one that
probably with the popularity of Mad Max, I feel
like that's a movie that's going to stand the
test of time. So he'll probably become more and
more popular. But, I don't know. I think some
of the characters we've talked about minus maybe
Bowser, I would probably rank ahead of him. Yeah.
Interesting to a little bit of a drop. We had
obviously Bowser at 48%. We go down to about
32 % of the list on the Morton Joe. So a few
less lists, but a lot of people had them ranked
kind of in that 30 to 70 range. So kind of in
that right in the middle third, I guess. So Matt,
what do you think on the fence or deserving?
I think he deserves, he's probably one of the
more iconic villains has come around in the past,
probably 10 years or so. The look, the feel,
the kind of more. Yeah, exactly. The touch, the
feel of cotton. The touch, the feel of cotton.
But it's just kind of one of those things where
it maybe makes more, it's more relevant now,
just kind of in the day and age we're living
in that person like this almost exists. And it's
like almost, I don't want to say the president
of the United States, but it's very reminiscent
of something like that. So if anything, I think.
It's just one of those characters that resonates
with people more. And just the look is iconic.
I mean, the face mask, the way, like, he just
breathes and kind of moves around and doesn't
really move around a lot. He drives the car a
lot. But he's got, like, this kind of hair on
the way that he keeps his, like, breathing, like,
brewers and, you know, he's taking breast milk
out of big fat ladies. It's just, like, the whole
total package. I'm just like, this guy is fucking
creepy. And the shit he's doing is, and it's
like his two grown sons are like, hey, dad, there's
just so many things about this character that's
unnerving and creepy. and he's just a dick like
don't drink water because you'll get addicted
says that like what kind of despot says some
crazy shit like that so in my opinion it makes
total sense that he's on this list and yeah i
think he has the most layers of any mad max villain
i mean he's the amalgamation of every villain
that george miller created into this one giant
monster at a certain point. And he meets a very
fitting end, too, which is nice. So it's satisfactory
how the villain gets his comeuppance, too. I
like it. Nice, nice. All right, well, one thing
we weren't sure of what we would see during this
countdown since our last Top 100 was strictly
on animated characters is we didn't know how
many would creep their way into here. And when
we did that list, we mainly had protagonists
or heroes that were showing up, very few villains
that showed up during that Top 100. But we're
going to get one here. Number 72 from a cartoon
that originated in 1989 on 40 % of the list.
Let's go to the World of Simpsons for Montgomery
Burns. I'm afraid that was just my pre -evil.
Sir, the actors are here to audition for the
part of you. Excellent. Excellent. Next. X. L.
N. Next. Exactly. Next. It's very good. Oh, it's
hopeless. I'll have to play myself. So that's
where we're going here. Dan, let's have you start
out. What do you think of the Simpsons finding
a villain to get into this top 100? It's funny
that we have JR last round and how they both
had similar fates in a way, which is kind of
funny. Simpsons, Montgomery Burns, certainly.
You know, he is the trademark of the old evil
rich man who has too much power and just, I don't
know. I ranked a specific South Park villain
a little higher, but Montgomery Burns, he's a
great character. You know. just like just how
old he is and how they depict that is always
really funny and then he does have a pretty interesting
backstory when they they go into it and especially
like his admiration for a specific teddy bear
but no matter like how much you end up trying
to feel bad for him he always does something
especially evil by the end like he just can't
help himself um so i uh and he's a character
that's been around i don't know what 40 years
by now i don't know how long that show has been
on it definitely had some wide representation
like i said 40 percent of the list um not a lot
of people ranked them too high we had two people
i guess in the top 15 but a lot of people uh
69 61 64 67 77 78 so a lot of people had it fairly
close when he you know comes in here at number
72 steve are you surprised to see some more animated
villains showing up oh no i'm not uh i i would
actually be surprised if we didn't see a character
from the simpsons period uh on this list just
because of how iconic it was and is and for the
fact that it's still going. So I definitely see...
Yeah, Montgomery Burns is one of the main villains
of that series, although I think Sideshow Bob
would be better in that he wants to murder Bert
Simpson. Or Bart Simpson, but yeah. So, DJ, did
we get it right here with Montgomery Burns or
is Sideshow Bob or other Simpsons characters
more deserving? I think Sideshow Bob, I agree
with Steve. I think Sideshow Bob might be more,
I guess. He's more murdery. Yeah, he's, I mean,
Montgomery Burns is kind of like if you take
Palpatine and then Scrooge McDuck and then, you
know, throwing a little bit of Gordon Gekko into
one character. He's kind of like laughable. It's
always Sideshow Bob, but Sideshow Bob is literally
Robert De Niro's character from Cape Fear. So
when it comes to who do I fear most, who's more
of a villain to me, I always look at Sideshow
Bob more than Montgomery Burns is essentially
just like a punchline, you know, so. All right,
fair enough. So Montgomery Burns showing up here.
Interesting Simpsons representation. So again.
Pop culture, iconic, you know, very universal
character to something a little bit more classic
here at number 71. I don't have a year for this
one. So if anybody wants to help me out on this
one, feel free. The dawn of man. I didn't do
the research to find out when Medusa actually
originated. So how about a mythological character
in Medusa? Dan, you had Medusa at number 12.
So we'll start with you. What do you think of
this one? Again, it's a character I think I rank
really high just because of how long that she's
been around, from the Remember the Titans movies,
obviously, to her origin. And just that power
of being able to turn people's stone based upon
looking at them, I feel it's like... one that
we've seen replicated over and over again and
if you see medusa i think everyone knows like
that character no matter like who you are um
you know some of the other villains that we talked
about from like beowulf and things of that nature
i think haven't reached that um level of popularity
with just the common um person but for some reason
medusa has maybe it's the fact that like her
hair snakes which are kind of cool um so uh yeah
i i mean Like you, I don't know where her origin
truly lies, but I do know that it was always
a character that kind of freaked me out. And
I always liked how she's been incorporated in
different normal pop culture things, especially
some of the more recent fantasy films. Yeah,
we talked about last week we had the White Witch
and we had Natasha from Boris and Natasha as
the only two female representatives during that
week's episode. We get one here in Medusa. matt
is this one of the most um i guess uh i don't
know best females to have on here if we're gonna
only have because dan said we might you know
have only a dozen or 20 or so that he was expecting
on the list is is medusa kind of cream of the
crop for female villains yeah i mean i guess
the whole thing with like with villains you don't
see a lot of female villains it's kind of an
underrepresented kind of like minority i mean
there's so many male villains but there's just
definitely a lack of female villains like i don't
know i don't know if it's just not being written
for females or something like that or i mean
this goes back to mythological bc time so this
is definitely the kind of prototype for any other
female villain but even like this kind of the
story of medusa is a little slightly tragic even
though she was like a vain you know of sister
and everything like that and she was made this
way because she was like being a total bitch
and zeus was like fuck you you're gonna be a
snake woman so um i mean i do like that but yeah
just the power of being able to turn people into
stone and the iconic look of a snake body and
like snake hair and everything it's just very
unnerving and of course looking back at like
you know clash of the titans and everything and
seeing like the stop motion you know claymation
like the uh harryhausen looking thing it was
like super creepy as a kid so you had everybody
from like the 80s looking at that going wow this
is really creepy right now um but yeah this is
and it's also probably one of the most iconic
characters you know in mythology. If somebody
can name other mythological creatures, they can,
but they always go for Medusa all the time. Just
for the iconography of it as well, too. And it
being a female, too, which is really cool to
see. I hope there's more females on the list
later on. We'll have to see. I'm hoping for Grendel's
mother down the line, because I know we had Grendel
in the last countdown, and I feel like Grendel's
mother was far more evil than Grendel, to be
honest with you. Yeah, I agree. And I think you
hit one thing on the head there with as far as
it just doesn't seem like the parts are written
for female villains, which I think is a missed
opportunity because we had two major female villains
here with the White Witch and Medusa. And I think
they creep me out more than any of the male villains
we've talked about so far. Like those two are
creepy characters that scared the crap out of
me as a kid. Come on, get out of here. Or female
villains. Steve, I mean, do you agree? I mean,
aren't these Medusa and the White Witch and just
witches in general, like, females do a good job
pulling off some of these villain roles. Yeah,
I definitely don't agree with that. Or, I mean,
I agree with that, but at the same time, they
kind of shoehorn them all into the same kind
of mystical power witch type character. True.
Instead of having a lot more of the... variety
that we get with the male characters for the
villains. It kind of is here or there with that,
but it's still nice to see the few that we are
getting so far. DJ, first venture into the world
of mythological characters. Is this just the
tip of the iceberg? Do you expect to see a bunch
more Greek or Roman mythology characters? It's
funny because I didn't even consider Medusa.
I never... I mean, what Matt was saying about
iconography is 100 % true because you say Medusa,
everybody knows what the hell you're talking
about, even if you've read the book or not. I
mean, I got most of my Medusa. storyline into
her layers on a really horrible TV show called
Atlantis, which they essentially gave her more,
explained a little bit more about her life, but
other than before that, it was just, don't look
at her face, you're a stone. That's all I kind
of remembered about her in the horrible Percy
Jackson movie, but when it comes to other ones,
I can only think of maybe two more. But I think
Medusa, even compared to the two I'm thinking
of, is probably more recognizable than those.
I'm happy it's here because I literally forgot
all about her until you mentioned it. All right,
so five characters revealed so far, two of them
predating the 1900s. Let's go to another film
villain here at number 70. And guess what? It's
from the 2000s. We have a film villain from originally
2011, also appeared in a future film as well,
so that's part of a franchise. Let's go to a
villain from the world of The Planet of the Apes
with Coba. On 32 % of the list, I was the highest
ranker of Coba. Maybe that's a little bit of
recency bias with me. I don't know. I had him
in my top 20. But I think a very layered villain
here and something that I wasn't expecting from
this franchise. We'll start with you, Dan. We
haven't talked to you for a second. But what
do you think of Coba showing up in the top 100?
It's funny because we were talking about characters
that, you know, Shakespeare characters. And Coba
very much is modeled off. off of that i think
you certainly see you know he has the tragedy
of of uh the best of shakespeare characters you
know in the first film i really think that you
kind of grow to understand him and you see because
he's not really even a villain in the first movie
he certainly has the look of a character that
you expect to be a villain but considering like
the the mistreatment of him and i think it really
settles you in to have sympathy firm as a character
which makes his turn or his development in the
second film all the more powerful in the relationship
he has with Caesar and in the lengths he's willing
to go. I think the best villains are all the
ones that you can understand their plight or
have justification or at least in a way aren't
villains in their own eyes and I think that's
certainly the case with him. He's also really
a smart character in the way he can kind of manipulate
people and play politics and things like that.
And even in the third film, you see his impact
and the way he has changed Caesar as a character.
So looking at some of my favorite villains in
the 2000s, he ranks near the top, and the performance
by Toby Cavill is a big part of that as well.
Certainly deserving, I think. It's one that I
would probably rank even higher as years go on.
I think he's certainly... should be in this list.
I think, too, Matt, one thing that we were seeing
is, you know, you have those that are just more
universal, iconic, like, images as far as villains
go, and then you have other people that really
ranked high, people that were more complex, people
that you could kind of understand, people that
maybe weren't 100 % of the villain 100 % of the
time. Do you think that helps in a case like
Kobo where people just more respect the character
and the layers there? I think so. I mean, even
looking at the list so far, there haven't even
been that many non -human villains as well, too.
And considering this is like, you know, not a
lot of, no dialogue whatsoever. It's all done
through action and kind of like cause and effect.
And you're seeing how the character was kind
of a very sympathetic character, but you saw
the evil kind of intent in him, especially at
the end of the first Planet of the Apes film.
And as it moves on. You see him kind of like
his rebellious side and him kind of being fed
up with, I know we want to do it one way, but
he's rebelling against it. So, I mean, it's just
a multifaceted kind of performance. And by Toby
Kebbell, you know, just the whole stop motion,
not stop motion, but motion capture. Very effective.
And it's like classic Shakespearean type thing
where one guy tries to take over for the guy
who's in charge. And then, of course, ultimately,
spoiler alert, the guy comes back and defeats
the enemy as well. So but it's a great performance
and it's understated. And, you know, I like where
it is right now. I mean, I wouldn't put it. I
would put it right around this range, maybe a
little bit higher, but I think it's just a great
performance that's understated. Same thing with
Caesar as a hero, so I think it's kind of understated
as well, too. DJ, one thing we couldn't agree
on as far as the people that did rank Kogel was
where he should be because he's going all over
the map, anywhere from 18 all the way up to 82.
So where do you think is the proper placement
for him if you think he's deserving? I think
he's one of the best characters we've seen in...
in a while i think he's to me he might be a little
bit high and the thing that about goba that really
won him over for me is is if you take out this
one part of the movie he's just a stereotypical
you know i'm he's essentially scar from the lion
king but there's that one scene where he's talking
about human work human work human right there
you're like oh okay i'm i i anything he does
here maliciously you get it you you you follow
it if you take that one scene out it's he's just
essentially just a mustache twirling you know
i want to be in charge guy but i think honestly
cobra doesn't want to ever be in charge he wants
caesar to to follow his you know to He wants
to essentially protect Caesar. He wants to be
feral again, basically. He doesn't want Caesar
to be vulnerable. And the fact that Caesar is
being vulnerable, it changes him a little bit.
And just that little facet that they added to
that character makes him really, really good.
I just think it's with the rest of the greatest
villains of all time, he might be a little high
here. But again, it's not any reflection on how
great of a character he is because he is a really
well -fleshed out character. So, yeah. All right.
Number 69, moving right along. We're not going
to have a character today on fewer lists than
this character. He only appeared on 20 % of the
list, which is as low as we go today. Why is
he here then? Because he's in four different
people's top 10. So four different people had
him in the top 10. Let's go somewhere where we've
already been. Let's go back to the world of Shakespeare.
Are you kidding me? This William Shakespeare
guy. He's pretty good. Originating in the year
1592, let's go with Richard III. So Richard III
from Shakespeare, 1952 play. Top ten material
for four different people, all the way up to
number two on one person's list. DJ, the third
Shakespeare character so far, and we are at number
71. Or 69. Excuse me. It's crazy. You guys have
some cultured fans out there. I'm not surprised
that he's on the list. I'm just surprised he
was in the top 10 thing. It's amazing. But I
mean, it's William Shakespeare. You got a character
coming from William Shakespeare. You're kind
of playing with an advantage big time because
you have one of the greatest or the greatest
writer of all time doing the backstory for you.
So Richard III being on this list is, I could
see it, just top ten for, how many people did
you say were in the top ten? Four people. Four
people had him in the top ten. I am surprised.
Number two, a number two rank, a number four,
a number six, and a number seven. You sure you
didn't give this list to like James Lipton or
somebody? Yeah, I mean, the other thing here
is I'm going to repeat what I said last week.
I studied a lot of Shakespeare and I didn't have
any of these guys on the list. I just didn't.
It must have been something like you or you didn't
think of the mythological character. I didn't
think of the Shakespeare characters. I guess
I just missed it. But Dan. Of the three we have,
do we even have them in the right order? We had
Iago, now Claudius, and now Richard III. I have
no idea. My knowledge of Shakespeare is not nearly
what it should be, so I am not the one to really
make that claim. I'm surprised that so many people
know about Richard III because I feel like that's
one of the ones that's not studied as much, not
read as much, but maybe I'm way off base. I don't
know. Matt, what do you think of the order that
we have these three? I mean, in terms of just
being iconic in terms of Shakespearean kind of
poems and stories, I wouldn't have put Richard
III up there. I mean, I think Claudius is a way.
better villain um richard iii was a tyrannical
despot who invaded a lot of lands and killed
a lot of people so i guess that's good enough
to if you kill a lot of people i guess if you're
genocidal maniac maybe you're up on how many
people have you killed claudia yeah it's like
a dick it's like a dick major in context with
how many people got killed or something like
that it's like well i killed my best friend my
body count over here or something but i guess
richard iii just he was a king who was tyrannical
and did a lot of horrible stuff in the medieval
times, which you can only imagine what kind of
shit he did. So, sure, put him on the list. I
don't even think I had him on my list, to be
honest with you. But, hey, I mean, more power
to the person who put him at number two. He must
be a real Richard III fan. Maybe he's like, I
don't know, a distant nephew or something like
that. I don't know. Let's get some explanation
from people in the comments on the website here
as to why so many people had him in the top 10.
But I'm sure there's a lot of people that are
ready to defend that choice. So we'll have to
wait and see. DJ, what do we do after we go back
to classic literary villains usually on this
list? I guess it's going to be a pop culture
person. Yes, sir. Number 68, let's go to another
animated villain. Animated villains finding a
lot of spots here. villain movie animated villain
from 1992 let's go with the disney villain with
jafar at number 68 so jafar uh appearing on 36
of the list if in the event a suitable prince
cannot be found a princess must then be wed to
interesting what who the royal vizier that would
be Me. But... You will order the princess to
marry me. I will order the princess to... But
you're so old. The princess will marry me. Heard
your princess was a sight lovely to see. Delighted
to meet you. This is my royal vizier, Jafar.
He's delighted too. Ecstatic. I'm afraid, Prince
Abubu. Ababua. Whatever. Sire, I must advise
against this. Oh, but not Jafar. Learn to have
a little... Just where did you say you were from?
Oh, uh, much farther than you've traveled, I'm
sure. Try me. Jasmine will like this one. And
I'm pretty sure I'll like Princess Jasmine. You'll
make us know. I must intercede on Jasmine's behalf.
This boy is no different from the others. What
makes him think he is worthy of the princess?
Your Majesty, I am Prince Ali Ababwa. Just let
her meet me. I will win your daughter. How dare
you? All of you, standing around deciding my
future? I think it's time to say goodbye to Prince
Abobo. You! How many times do I have to kill
you, boy? Things are unraveling fast now. Perhaps
you'd like to see how snake -like I can be. Little
fool. You thought you could defeat the most powerful
being on Earth. One too many hits for the snake.
Slave! I make my third wish. I wish to be an
all -powerful genie! All right. Your wish is
my command. Way to go, Al. The power. The absolute
power. What have you done? Trust me. The universe
is mine. command to control! Not so fast, Jafar!
Weren't you forgetting something? You wanted
to be a genie? You got it! Steve, you had him
the highest amongst the people on the record
today. So why is Jafar deserving to be included
in this countdown? Just because he's among one
of the most iconic Disney films, I feel anyway,
of all time. It's one of the few that I can stand
to watch. Plus, the character not only is creepy,
but he's constantly trying to worm his way into
the... being Sultan and having unlimited power
and wanting this genie and then this street rat's
just constantly one -upping him. But he's got
all these different powers of persuasion and
costume changes and just all these different
abilities. And he's, like I said, just very iconic.
So I think that he's... despite the fact he only
lasted the two films and the second one was kind
of a special, he's still very iconic. Yeah, Dan,
I don't have the list in front of me with the
animated villains that we talked about, but I
would be curious if we go back through there,
how many of these characters are showing up here
that didn't? register as much on that list. I
don't know if it's just because we're specifically
talking about villains, but I do agree that Jafar
is one of the more iconic Disney villains. Dan,
do you think that makes him worthy of showing
up on this list? I can't remember if he showed
up in the top 100. I think he did because I remember
we had a lot of characters from Aladdin, if I
wasn't mistaken. Aladdin is my all -time favorite
Disney movie. It was probably one of the movies
I've watched more times than not. When I'm looking
at what I feel are the best Disney villains,
I don't think I would put him up there. I think
some other characters I feel are stronger. He's
a good character. He is rather creepy. He's got
a cool staff. Damn right. I just think that...
If I like looking at other characters like Cruella
de Vil or some other ones come to my mind first
before Jafar. Like, I don't think he is like
the best part of a Disney or of Aladdin where
there are some Disney films where the best part
is the villain in some cases where I think he
does the job that's needed for that film to work.
But he also was part of our. film tournament
we did prior to this which he ended up going
pretty far so i know there's some popularity
in regarding to people who listen so i'm sure
they're rather happy but i think in turn a lot
of that has to do with the fact that so many
people love the movie aladdin is uh similar to
how bowser is getting on here because so many
people love mario i think it's kind of a similar
uh reasoning behind that dj we had i guess if
you consider captain hook at disneyville and
even though he's been in multiple different sources
and things like that from last week we have jafar
now is disney trying to uh pull a coup on us
and take over the countdown or what do you think
It Disney always wins. Doesn't matter if it's
a Marvel villain or, you know, animated villain
or Muppets going to Disney wins. I would say
this about Jafar. I mean, Jafar could have been
20 times better because if you did a little bit
of trivia here, Patrick Stewart said the biggest
regret of his entire career was not turning down
a chance to voice Jafar in Aladdin. he said no
matter this is patrick effing stewart okay so
imagine aladdin if it was voiced by patrick stewart
i can only a freaking imagine but i mean the
thing about jafar is he gets overshadowed by
you know Robin effing Williams who's amazing
in that movie so you almost forget how like slimy
and sinister and there's a scene with uh Jasmine
later on in that movie where it's kind of like
creepy because Jafar is pushing at least 50 years
old and Jasmine's like 15 and he's like doing
this creepy you know Weinstein thing again yeah
it's very the Weinstein syndrome another Weinstein
situation I think we have a name for it now I
agree with Dan. I don't think he's – when it
comes to Disney villains, he's probably low on
the totem pole. But, I mean, the guy had – he
had the return movie. He had a return of Jafar
movie. So, I mean, he's – It's right to video,
but it's fine. Hey, hey, nobody counts now. Matt,
how many more Disney villains do you expect to
see if we've seen Captain Hook and Jafar so far?
I think we're just getting to the tip of the
iceberg here because we're getting into these
kind of like – They're good villains, but you
think of some of these other villains that have
killed people or animals. They've killed their
family. Jafar didn't kill anybody. He left one
little sea urchin or whatever, like a little
street urchin down in the Cave of Wonders liner.
He left him down there. That's fine. But he didn't
kill anybody. He just wanted power. We got people
that want to skin dogs alive. We got people throwing
their brother down a cliff into wildebeests.
gonna see some serious shit pretty soon so that's
what i'm hoping for but i like jafar though he's
got that grima worm tongue kind of thing going
for him a little grima no word either but but
at the end he's he's a victim of his own kind
of vanity and everything which is like come on
man that's smart you're gonna fall for the oldest
trick in the book little bitty little bitty living
space come on bro come on yeah but we're gonna
see a lot more busy We'll have to wait and see
if we do see a lot more Disney villains or not.
Let's go to number 67 next. This character would
technically break our streak of 80s and 2000s
films if he hadn't appeared in a novel first.
So novel would be the source, I guess, for this
one. Let's go to a character played by Al Pacino,
Michael Corleone. from the godfather series so
um coming in at 28 of the list number 67 steve
what do you think godfather uh making an appearance
as far as villain goes there's a lot of different
characters i guess you could go to but michael
is the one that ends up on the list i definitely
think that he deserves a place on the list uh
despite the fact that he didn't start out being
the villain but ended up having to become the
villain it kind of makes sense so All right,
DJ Matt. Dan, what do you think of the Godfather
finding a way in here? I think he's more of a
villain in part two, because honestly, what does
he do that's villainous in part one? He, spoiler
alert, kills the guy who killed his brother?
Yeah, he just kind of takes over. It's not really...
That's still murder. Sure, sure. It's self -defense.
It's revenge. I mean, that guy killed, he essentially
eliminated everybody who betrayed his family.
I think that's a hero. In part two, I mean, what
he does to Fredo, that's more villainous to me,
even though, again, Fredo, you had it coming,
brother. I knew it was you, Fredo. Dan, what
do you think? Are we being too lenient on murder
here? Michael Corleone deserves it. Are we being
too lenient on murder, Your Honor? Man, I'm going
to stay away from that one. I'm going to say
murder's bad. Is it? Is it, though? I mean, I
guess, yeah. Anyways, I think if you're ranking,
like, best characters, and, like, I think he...
is probably much higher on that list or just
been the best movie characters he's probably
top 10 in in that list but and i think he makes
a good point like the first time he's not he's
not really a villain i think that's what makes
godfather 2 such a great film or you know that
those two films so fantastic seeing him develop
into that like developing into the thing he never
wanted to be um in like how he gets kind of brought
into that world um so i think that's why he's
such a great character is because you can see
how the best intentions don't always lead to
the result that you want them to and um how yeah
like the first one what he does is justified
but you see how sometimes justified actions lead
to you to kind of go down the path that you didn't
want to go down um so again one of the most arguably
one of the greatest films or obviously one of
the greatest films of all time and one of the
biggest reasons why so if you're doing a list
of great characters he's going to be on it and
some could ask if we did the best heroes list
I guess some people probably have him on that
too so there you go but I'm actually kind of
surprised he's not higher but maybe it's because
some people don't see him as a villain Yeah,
could be for sure. Again, only 28 % of the people
had him on the list. Just most people that did
have him had him fairly high. Almost four people
in the top 10, but one of them was at 11. So
I guess that doesn't quite count. Let's go to
our number 66 pick. Let's go back to a character
that we've actually already talked about today.
How about that? We're going to go back to the
world of animation. And I guess we won't need
to spend too much time because I've already heard
most of your guys' reason for why this character
should be higher than Montgomery Burns. Sideshow
Bob at number... Number 66, voiced by Kelsey
Grammer, originated in 1990. Ow! What do you
want? Surely there's no harm in laying in the
middle of a public street. There's Shelbyville
Falls, Rolling Rock, and here's another breathtaking
sight, my brand new hubby. I wanted a room with
a fireplace, you brainless luggage monkey. Like
the one in your brochure. Oh, Selma dear, I was
just chatting with my good friend, Dennis. Now,
smile for the camera, that's a good lad. Dan,
what do you think? Did we get it right? Sideshow
Bob is more of a villain than Montgomery Burns,
or a better villain? Oh, I think so. Well, he's
like the first real villain of The Simpsons.
You know, he tried to frame a clown, you know,
a childhood clown who has a TV show to get his
own popularity, and then he made it an awful
show, so that's pretty criminal. But then, you
know, his biggest favorite pastime is killing
children, or trying to kill children. And then
you've also, you know, with... The Simpsons,
he's been able to kind of make homage to other
classic villains, many of which we'll probably
show on this last. Unlike, I think, Montgomery
Burns, he only shows up in certain occasions.
His relationship with Bart Simpson is amazing.
They're back and forth. Is it arguably Kelsey
Grammer's best role? It may be. It's up there.
I agree. He is 100 % a villain, where Montgomery
Burns is not as villainous, I think, as Sideshow
Bob. Interesting trivia here, Steve, that Montgomery
Burns actually appeared on more lists. It was
how high that people ranked Sideshow Bob that
actually ends him up higher on the list. So,
you know, 40 % of people had Montgomery Burns,
only 32 % had Sideshow Bob, but most people had
him ranked a little bit higher. What do you think
of having these two Simpsons characters showing
up here today? Oh, I'm definitely glad that they
both showed up because they're kind of iconic
in their own right. And then the fact that Sideshow
Bob actually did one -up Montgomery Burns just
means that people are ranking them how they should
be ranked. TJ, two characters from the world
of Shakespeare, two characters from the world
of The Simpsons. What do you make of it? Well,
this proves that Matt Groening is apparently
William Shakespeare reincarnated, apparently.
I guess that's what's going on right now. William
Shakespeare died and decided that when he came
back to life, he wanted to make an animated series
about a kid who doesn't, you know, want to have
a cow or likes to skateboard. And likes to tell
people to eat shorts. Eat shorts, of course.
I think they said that in The Tempest. Eat my
shorts, man. Eat thy shorts. Eat thy shorts.
You just have to read in between the lines a
little bit, I think. They alluded to it. Matt,
what do you think? get it right uh all in agreement
that sideshow bob's the better villain uh oh
no yeah because i even go back to the michael
corleone argument it's like are we downplaying
murder um i don't know maybe uh yeah sideshow
bob tried to murder people uh montgomery burns
tries to maim people and he's more of a mustache
twirling villain in my opinion but yeah sideshow
bob is a psychotic almost child murderer. Not
even child murderer, like family murderer. And
it's always the same family, so he obviously
has some psychosis going for him. But yeah, I
think overall, and even the iconic look of Sideshow
Bob looking like a giant palm tree is just kind
of like that. When I was nominated for Best Supporting
Performer in a Children's Program at the Daytime
Emmy Awards, my bitterness ruined what should
have been the greatest night of my life. And
the nominees are Droopy Jaws. Colonel Coward.
Pepito, the biggest cat in the whole wide world.
Sideshow Bob. And suck up the vacuum. And the
Emmy goes to... I don't believe this. Sideshow
Bob. This is one more Emmy than you'll ever win,
you bantering jack -in -the -box. Just don't
drop that thing in the shower, Bob. No talent,
shill. Take a banana. Hand her a boar. Stop it.
Release me. Now for the highlight of the evening,
best film to video transfer. Unmistakable look.
Montgomery Burns is kind of, you know, he has
this look, but Sideshow Bob has the look, and
he's murderous. So, yeah, out of the two villains,
it has to be the one. Interesting to note here
on the next one that we reveal here at number
65 that we actually might have some people upset
because every single person that ranked number
65 had him in the 50s or higher. So we might
have some people upset that he's already appearing.
This one, again, would break the rule as far
as what decade the film is from, but he appeared
in the novel first, guys. Novel first, 1962.
More known probably for the film. Let's go with
the villain from A Clockwork Orange, Alex. So,
Alex DeLarge, DJ, what do you think of this character
showing up a few spots ahead of Michael Corleone,
another film villain there? Good morning, sir.
Here at the prison's committal court. Thank you,
mister. Name? Alexander DeLarge. You are now
in 18 prison part four. And from this moment,
you'll address all prison officers as sir. Name?
Alexander DeLarge. 14 years, sir. Crime? Murder,
sir. Right. Take the cuffs off him, mister. You
are now 605 -321. And it is your duty to memorize
that number. The guy's fandom is legendary. I'm
not a huge Clockwork Orange fan, but I know.
I know I'm in the minority. But, I mean, when
it comes to the things the guy's done, the whole
part of this point of this movie, at least that's
what I got of it, is that he's this evil guy,
and they try and fix him, and it kind of doesn't
take. But just that premise alone, he deserves
to be on this list. And for him to be this low
makes sense to me because, I mean, again, the
guy does some horrific things. uh it's just when
it comes to kubrick i think there's comes to
kubrick villains i don't think he's as high as
another kubrick villain but i mean again i'm
in the minority i'm not a huge clockwork orange
fan but you can't yesterday was halloween you
can't like avoid somebody dressed like this guy
every freaking year actually none of us had uh
him ranked on on any of our lists dan did we
all miss the boat or what do you think it doesn't
does he deserve a spot I don't have an issue
with him being ranked. I guess when I was looking
at, like DJ said, Kubrick movies, when it comes
to villains from that, he didn't come to my mind.
You know, there's a lot of people when it comes
to 100. And I guess, too, when I look at Clockwork
Orange, it's kind of the opposite of some other
characters, like Akoba, who becomes a villain,
where he certainly... starts off as a very evil
person and does some horrific things but i guess
i never saw him in his his portrayal in the film
as being you know being villainous i mean like
that's he That is done to get to a larger point
and how you end up kind of having sympathy or
possibly having sympathy based upon the actions
of that movie. So that's really why I didn't
really rank him here because I felt like his
purpose in the story didn't necessarily fit for
what I would want when I consider the greatest
villains. But he's a great character, no doubt.
And as DJ mentioned, certainly hugely popular.
I feel like there's a huge amount of people who
do love Clockwork Orange, the book or the movie.
So I could see, like you said, a lot of people
being kind of angry that he's not much higher.
I guess they can blame us since we didn't rank
him. Yeah, and I'm sure we'll hear about it because
five people, like I said, had him in the top
30. So a lot of people that are probably going
to be a little disappointed. And we'll get the
rationale and the reasoning, I'm sure, from a
few commenters on why he should be higher. Interesting
that you say, you know, we talk about somebody
that has a cult following because I don't know
if there's a character that has more of a cult
following or I guess a show that has more of
a cult following than what we're going to see
here at number 64. One thing we haven't done
today yet. is go to the world of TV. So let's
go to the world of television for a character
that originated in 1971, been played by various
people since then. Let's go to the world of Doctor
Who for Master. Also to note, first character
so far in the countdown that was on somebody's
number one. So we had somebody have this character
at number one. We actually had another person
had this character at number two. So a few Doctor
Who fans among us. Dan, what do you think of
Doctor Who finding a way to get in here? Not
surprising, because Doctor Who has a huge amount
of fans, and with that show, there's characters
that have been around for such a long time. My
personal experience with Doctor Who is limited
to... one and a half seasons per se so i don't
have a lot of uh knowledge of doctor who characters
but i am uh around a lot of doctor who fans so
through osmosis feel like uh i understand their
love of characters though i feel like the master
is not one i hear them talk about as much as
like the daleks and things like that which are
perhaps ones i don't know if that's a little
harder since they're like not a specific character
but characters uh so But yeah, I unfortunately
can't add a lot to the quality of the character
because I don't think when I did watch Doctor
Who, to my knowledge, he didn't show up because
I watched the first season of the reboot. So
I don't know if there's other Doctor Who fans
that can enlighten me to why he's such a great
character. And if he should be higher, I guess,
you know, if he's number one for some people,
maybe he should be. I don't know. DJ or Matt,
any knowledge on the Doctor Who series and if
Master should be higher or if he's good at number
64? Doctor Who's been out for, and this is not
even an exaggeration, I think 70 freaking years.
I mean, it's forever. It was the 60s, I know.
You could tell me 100, I'd believe you. There's
been 20, I can't remember how many damn Doctors
there's been, but the fact that the little bit
I know of Doctor Who is that he's damn near omnipotent.
I mean, the guy switches bodies all over the
place. And when it comes to a hero like that,
for you to have a villain that's just as... That
has lasted a time just as long. He has to be
a great one. I have a minimal amount of experience
on watching the master, but he's essentially,
I don't want to spoil this list here. He's kind
of doctor who the doctor is Moriarty in a, in
a sense. So I understand him being on here. And
I know the UK, the UK fans are probably like,
what the hell are you talking about? Of course,
he's got to be number one. I understand. That
was quite an accent. That's good. That's good.
Matt agree or disagree. I mean, from the people
that watch Doctor Who, I understand the rabid
fandom for it. I mean, I would go with Dan saying
like the dialects or even like the Weeping Angels
are probably more kind of like villains that
are more of a scary thing that actually will
kill people and destroy people where it seems
like the master is just playing the constant
long game. Like DJ said, it's the Doctor's Moriarty
always kind of one -upping him one step ahead
of him all the time. They always both seem to
regenerate all the time because they're all Time
Lords and things like that. I'm not into the
whole Doctor Who thing. My wife is. She watched
it. awesome i'm glad you like doctor who um yeah
i mean i i get it i get why people would say
it's because it is like it's his morality it's
his joker it's his ying to his yang so it's like
the ultimate hero versus the ultimate villain
basically so um i get the argument people will
make uh but i think it's also more of a kind
of people who watch doctor who are going to be
rabid fans of the master whereas people who are
don't watch doctor who don't know anything about
it like I don't even know who the Master is.
Master Commander? I don't even know. You bloody
wanker. You bloody wanker, you don't like the
Master. You don't like the Master? I'll stick
with the Master PC from Tron. There you go. That's
more of a threat than the Master. On that note,
I think we're going to take a quick break. Please,
though, do pay attention during the break because
we are highlighting some ads and commercials
for some of the people that contributed to the
list. So we definitely want you to give them
the attention and maybe check out their podcast
or different things like that. But I've got a
couple of jobs for you guys while we're on break
here. So DJ and Matt, I need to send you out
on a search party. You're looking for comic book
characters, okay? And Dan and Steve, if you guys
can go find the horror film fans. We haven't
killed them all. So we'll see if we have any
luck, and we'll be right back after the break.
Batman? This is Kevin Conroy, and I am the goddamn
Batman. Hey, this is Joe Sanfilippo. You're listening

On the Simplistic Reviews Podcast, we talk movies.
We talk TV. We talk... Hello, Julie, what the
heck are you doing? Trying to make our spot sound
more exciting by adding explosions. Yeah, I'm
pretty sure you could have got the point across
with sound effects, not the real thing. download
the show on itunes or at simplisticreviews .blogspot
.com i'm sure your insurance company will cover
that no they won't no they probably won't all
right thanks for sticking with us hopefully you
uh found what you were looking for, guys, and
we'll see if we can find anything here because
so far, more characters from Shakespeare than
comic books, than horror films, than, I mean,
I could name a couple more things. Shakespeare
reigning supreme so far. Simpsons right behind
in second. We'll see what happens here. On that
side of the break, we had also three characters
that predated the 1900s. We're going to start
with another one here at number 63, originating
in a novel from the 1800s. Let's go with Moby
Dick for number 63. Now, this one's interesting
because I think there may be a debate here on
who is the villain in this story. So, DJ, what
do you think? We have Moby Dick here getting
enough votes here to make it up to number 63.
Moby Dick's a whale. He's just trying to live
his life. Ahab's the villain. Trying to live
his whale life. He's just trying to live his
whale life. He's swimming along, eating, you
know, whatever they eat, kale. I don't know what
that was. Nobody should eat kale. Whatever. And
then Ahab comes along and he's just like, hey,
I gotta find him. Moby Dick, I guess in terms
of, you know, creatures, he could be considered,
you know, a villain, but honestly, that's the
point of the book is that, you know, his obsession
led to his, it's like the River Kwai thing. His
obsession led to his downfall sort of thing.
I don't, I never saw Moby Dick as the villain.
I don't know, hyphen or not, I never saw him
as the villain. Dan, what do you think? You got
a case for Moby Dick? Yeah, I guess when I did
rank him on my list, and I guess the reason I
consider him the villain, yeah, I guess technically
he's just a whale, but again, I think of what
he represents as a character and the impact that
obsession can have on Captain Ahab, who today's
standard is very much like, the dude is trying
to kill a whale, so he's not a hero, but I think
in the time and place of when the book was made,
that you know that was the case like that most
people you know did not have the sympathy for
animals that we do now um so and i think you
know when we take is that type of um like we've
seen that replicated a lot like that it becomes
that obsession that someone goes after and how
it's similar to like we talked about with godfather
how it can really lead to someone kind of going
crazy and lead to their demise so So in a way,
it's like, yeah, Moby Dick's only a whale. There's
not much to mention to the character. It's not
like it's Coba who you see Moby Dick kind of
develop throughout. But it's, I think, the way
in which the character is used in the story that
makes him a memorable villain. I can't think
of the, what was it, where someone talking about
Moby Dick and how, like, they love that story
because there's no symbolism, just about a dude
trying to kill a whale. One thing. I think Melville
said it. He was like, yeah, this is a book about
a whale and a guy. I just think of Wolf of Wall
Street. The book. The book, motherfucker. The
book. Also the second consecutive character that
appeared on somebody's number one. So Toon Master
Tim had Moby Dick at number one. I also ranked
Moby Dick. I don't know, Matt, do you think if
we were to make a list of just top 100 villainous
creatures, would people be more animals, creatures,
that type of thing? Would he rank higher? Are
we talking about natural creatures that talk?
Are we talking about Disney creatures that talk?
Yeah, that's true. A lot of those animals that
are like... get inside their heads i mean i guess
now it's like it's a different time because when
melville wrote it it was about like anti -whaling
and like the kind of disaster that whaling was
doing and how we were killing so many whales
so you can see as like moby dick is like the
avenging angel of like all these whales that
are getting murdered by man um but like now it
would be like moby dick's like a hero to everybody
because everybody's like so anti -whaling and
don't kill whales for their meat and plumber
and everything else too but The way I see it,
it's like Moby Dick is just an animal defending
itself, saying, look, bitch, you're going to
come out with spears. I'm going to come out and
belly flop your ass. I mean, at the end of the
day, that's really what it comes down to. It's
an animal being an animal. So I can't really
consider Moby Dick a villain because it's a creature
that's being fucked with. don't grab the bulls
man don't don't grab the bull by the horns type
of thing get the horns whatever he said steve
regardless of if he is a villain or not according
to some are we not the most intellectual cultured
group possible here at the geek cast radio network
for the amount of pre -1900 characters that we're
finding a way to fit in here i would definitely
say so because i did not think we were going
to ever hit as many pre 1960s characters ever
in the history of any of our top 100s or anything
else we've done. So just to show that we've transcended
what we've done before is just amazing. Although
there's still plenty of room to make everyone
sorry. This is the Geekcast Radio Network, guys.
No comic book characters, but Moby Dick finding
a way to find his way on the top 100. There's
going to be some Moby Dick -ing going on later.
Everybody's going to be complaining in the comments.
Let's go to number 62 and let's go back to the
world of TV. We had ended right before the break
with a TV character with Dr. Who here. Let's
go to a TV series that started in 2008 and a
character played by Bryan Cranston with Walter
White at number 62. When I watched her die, I
watched her overdose and choke to death. I could
have saved her, but I didn't. DJ, you had him
in your top 20. What do you think about Walter
White showing up here at number 62? We're just
talking about a character that doesn't start
off as the bad guy, but he slowly devolves into
the villain. When I think we're talking about
Coba, that's essentially the... premise of the
show. That's Breaking Bad. That's the title of
the show, the premise of the show. And if you
watch, I always like, I know it would spoil a
lot of people, if you watch the first episode
of Breaking Bad and then watch the fifth episode
of the final season, it's a completely different
person. It's almost like you want to watch that
show backwards or something. It's such a, that
character, I mean, Bryan Cranston is one of the
best actors working today and just the layers
of this character and, you know, he is You kind
of don't want to consider him a bad guy, but
he does horrible things. And there's no way to
sugarcoat some of the things. I don't want to
spoil some of the stuff he does, but it involves
many murders. It involves many tortures. It involves
child killing. So many things that Walter White
did. But you root for him because you've seen
where he began from, where he was this guy. He
was a teacher who was put upon and the world
treated him like crap. And this freedom of...
you know, not knowing when his next breath was
going to be, just give him the freedom to just
turn into this Lex Luthor, he should have been
cast instead of Jesse Eisenberg, villain, which
I love so much. So yes, Walter White's awesome.
Dan, what do you think? Walter White, deserving
of our few TV villains that have appeared so
far? It's interesting because, like, you're talking
about characters that... Does he qualify as a
villain or not? I think it's hard to think about
the character that is the center of the show,
even when it's called Breaking Bad, as the villain
or as a villain, considering there are other
characters that certainly were considered villains
in that show, too, that you could list here.
But, you know, that is, you know, Walter White
is probably. if you're looking at tv characters
from the last the 2000s got to be in in the top
five or so and as dj mentioned brian current's
performance is just insane in that uh like i
think like the last couple that last season especially
like uh last second last third to last episode
or some of the best like entertainment i've ever
watched like even and he's a big reason for that
um so certainly deserving i think he probably
would be higher if we could have like a conversation
beforehand to even determine if he would qualify
as a villain or not and people are like oh yeah
that's true so just go through the bad things
he's done the Kristen Ritter scene if you go
through any of that stuff you're like oh yeah
he did some horrible things more horrible things
I think than Michael Corleone so yeah matt interesting
enough so far we've had ben linus from lost we've
had boyd crowder from justified jr ewing from
uh dallas and then obviously we just had dr who
represented is walter white a better villain
than all of those guys as far as the tv ranks
well i guess uh and you could also play this
to like a lot of the other things too to like
you know bias for like kind of things that are
more recent than older. Like people are going
to remember more iconic villains recently than
they are from the past. That's probably why we're
getting like Walter White and things like that.
But it's interesting because like how we endear
ourselves with villains so much because we can
see ourselves in Walter White. So I think that's
why we. fucking love him so much even though
he's a horrible horrible human being at the end
of it we're so like we've been put upon we've
had shit go on our go on our lives and things
like that so that's why we relate to him so much
compared to like so many other like i can't relate
to ben linus he's like a fucking maniac but walter
walter white at least i'm like i can see parts
of me and walter white where i'm like damn that
guy is awful human being scum but I love that
motherfucker, though. It's such a weird thing.
It's just weird how we are now, how we feel.
We have so much admiration for villains now than
we have probably ever before, in my opinion.
But yeah, I mean, I think he fits in terms of
his TV villains. I can't really think of another
one who endeared us so much, and we also were
repulsed by him at the same time. But you can
also say Gus Frank. It was awesome. Tuco was
awesome. And even the Nazis at the end of the
last season were awesome, too. They were all
great villains. But Walter White stands alone.
And he went out the way he wanted to go out,
too. So he won. He won all the way through. That
guy's a winner. So we are about to reveal our
40th character so far in the top 100. So we've
revealed 39. Here comes number 40. Will we finally
get a comic book character? Shakespeare. Oh,
sorry. No, we're not going to get either. Let's,
though, reveal our first of today horror character.
So a character from a horror film, and it's a
film, so it's from the 2000s. 2004, on 44 % of
the list, a series of films that this character
is from. Number 61 is Jigsaw. I propose. so jigsaw
uh yeah as we're getting the movie and everything
so number 61 we've had chucky and now we get
jigsaw steve uh what do you make of the horror
characters that have shown up so far and is jigsaw
deserving i think it's deserving i think that
um and this is without having seen the recent
film although i've heard that it's kind of meh
um but uh yeah the the character kind of This
is very complicated, and the films that are associated
with them are very interesting, how they tie
everything back and forth through different parts
of time, kind of explaining how everything took
place basically at the same time. The character
is very creepy between the voice and the vocoder
and the little doll that squeaks in and has that
thing as it goes on the bike. Yeah, I mean, I
definitely find this more creepy than Chucky
or some of those other characters, even though
they're older. I definitely see this as a character
for the top 100. DJ, one thing that we can sometimes
see in these top 100 lists is when a character
first appears from a certain genre, a certain
source, or a certain franchise, etc., sometimes
it is a hint as far as what we can expect to
see the rest of the countdown. So we're at number
61, and we've seen Chucky and Jigsaw. To you,
what does that mean for the remainder of the
countdown? I think we're... I have my fingers
crossed that I'm right. But I'm pretty sure that
we're just going to get a flood where it's going
to be horror comic, horror comic. Because Jigsaw
to me, I think he's probably one of the most
iconic horror type characters we've gotten in
the last 20 years where people are dressing up
like you didn't get that from the Bye Bye Man
or whatever the hell the other freaking thing
is. Even like the Insidious. Jigsaw is just because
of the the iconography we keep using that word
of that character and tobin bell is so awesome
in that role i think i think it's right i think
he he would probably he's kind of a newbie but
it's chucky coming first and then him i think
that we have to be getting the the other four
that we all know who they are the mount rushmore
of horror the mount rushmore the mount horror
more of uh of horror characters but yeah i think
i think we're gonna get them i think that might
be a hint of uh Things to come. Dan, 40 characters
revealed, two horror characters, no comic book
characters. What do you make of everything so
far? We read too many classic literature books.
We paid attention in school. My fourth grade
teacher made this list. Well, let's see. Let's
see if we can get something else here that we
haven't seen yet. At number 60. Or let's go pre
-1900s one more time for a literary character.
So how about from the world of Robert Louis Stevenson?
Number 60 is none other. Then Long John Silver.
So we had the Facebook matchup of Long John Silver
and Captain Hook. Here we get our answer. Captain
Hook appeared way back, whatever number that
was last episode, 83. And now we get Long John
Silver number 60. That means Pirates 2, which
is 1. DJ, what do you think? Long John Silver
here. Damn you, Mrs. Weiss. Why did you make
this list? Everybody's a freaking literary character.
No. He's up there. I understand him being on
this list. I'm surprised a little bit that people
even remember Long John Silver. The thing that
I remember from him is how he prayed. I mean
this in the most sterile way possible. How he
prayed on that child. Yeah, sterile. How he essentially
uses... He's very manipulative. Captain Hook
is just kind of like, I'm just... killing him.
I got no time for this. There's a little bit
more of a wheel turning in Long John Silver,
so yeah. I think if I had to read about a character
more, I'd probably want to know more about this
guy over Captain Hook, because Captain Hook is
kind of one note, kill the kid, you know, kind
of thing. So I understand him being higher. Steve,
what do you think? We had the matchup with Long
John Silver and Captain Hook. Regardless of how
the comments went, obviously in the top 100,
Long John Silver quite a bit ahead of him. Did
we get that right, or what would you do? I'm
not really sure. I'm not 100 % knowledgeable
in the character, but I don't see why not. I
mean, you can never have enough pirates. At least
good and notable ones. Right. Dan, we were all
over the map on this one. Again, one person had
him in this top 10. We had people in the teens,
20s, 30s, 80s, 90s. Did we at least, in your
opinion, get it right here with number 60? Or
could it be debated where he should fall? I guess
looking at some of the other literature characters,
I feel like some of them could probably be ranked
a little higher compared to Long John Silver,
though. To his advantage, he does have a fast
food chain even after him. That is true. Those
hush puppies, man. That's the only thing more
villainous than him. I'll pray all your children
even after my death. So I would probably rank
some of the other classic characters we've gotten
above him, per se. I think I like Captain Hook
maybe a little bit more as a character, but that
could be because I have a Disney movie to go
to. Or actually kind of a couple of Disney movies
to go to. But certainly, I think Long John Silver
is, in the history of pirates, probably one of
the most famous. those characters so he's kind
of has the look that most people think of when
they think of pirates so you you have to have
that going for him um and you know he's certainly
yeah well known um so i i think like yeah he
should be here i don't know if i can put him
this either Okay, I have to wait and see how
people think as far as how the pirates ended
up so far. And then maybe we'll have another
one. Who knows? All right, let's get to number
59. I can't wait to hear the discussion surrounding
this character. And if this is the right character
to have at this point or not, because gentlemen,
the drought is over. Let's go to the world of
the comic books with our number 59 pick. The
first comic book character in the countdown,
General Zod. TJ? Kneel before Zod. Zod. Whoa,
man. Kneel before Zod. Gotta say it. Before Zod.
A farm. Farm. See, Matt's favorite line is not
kneel before Zod. It's, where were you raised
on a farm? No, Zod is awesome. Well, he didn't
know. It's funny because. I remember Zod more
from Terrence Stamp than I do from any comic
book, though I know he's a comic book character
because it's Superman, but Terrence Stamp essentially
nailed what, essentially even what we look at
Zod today as, because as much as I love Michael
Shannon, he doesn't even freaking say anything
before Zod. He's just, you know, just very emo.
The whole time. But Zod is such a cool character.
The thing about it is Superman's rogues gallery
is so vast in terms of great villains. Zod sometimes
gets lost in the shuffle as how one, powerful
he is. Two, megalomaniacal he is. And three,
kind of understandable in his villainy. So I
really like Zod. I'm glad he's on this list.
I'm surprised a lot of people might have just
skipped over him and gone to the other top three.
superman villains and i'm happy he's on here
but hopefully this is not because of man of steel
because that's that's not superman 2 that's effing
zod right there that is general zod deserving
in the top 100 villains I think it could also
be just for kind of recency. Like people are
like, oh, General Zod and Man of Steel. They
kind of noticed him. I mean, I would be saying,
I mean, a lot of people play that bias a little
bit. But yeah, Terrence Stamp put his proverbial
stamp on Zod. I mean, people know him for that.
They know Neil before Zod. They know him and
his two henchmen. no all right henchwoman and
henchman next to him so people it's so recognizable
and just him being in superman 2 on tv saying
like look you guys are fucked like look it's
neil before us we'll let it all forgive and you
know just bring a superman um but yeah as far
as the comic book goes i don't know many storylines
of him with superman in the comic book it's all
about terrence stamp and i'm sorry i'm i'm kind
of i'm kind of partial to michael shannon because
I liked him in that movie a lot. He was probably
the one shining beacon in that film that wasn't
so great. You just like that line, Matt. It's
so great. We had him ranked anywhere from number
7 all the way up to somebody had him at 76. Steve,
what do you think of General Zod appearing here?
I think that it's kind of warranted. I mean,
he's not particularly my favorite character,
but I can definitely see that. He's still one
of the most well -known battles of Superman's
career, so I think that's very fitting for at
least the first entry in the comic book genre.
Interesting, too, to note that none of you guys
had General Zod listed on your countdown. So
interesting that he's the first one. Dan, what
can we read into the fact that General Zod is
the first comic book villain? What does that
mean for the rest of the countdown? I think comic
book villains that have appeared in movies are
probably going to have a huge advantage to those
that haven't, most likely, or at least were portrayed
in movies effectively. And those that were probably
movies in... were not effective may be negatively
impacted yeah i could definitely see that in
the comics he's not he's not a he's not a huge
i think uh important character in the world of
dc comics um but in the superman 2 like very
much so he tariff stamp is probably the sole
reason why he's on this list so but i'm guessing
that's gonna replicate as we go further So there
we have it. The drought is broken. Comic book
characters are represented here in the top 100
finally. So let's go to number 58. DJ, what did
you say earlier that we were going to go comic
book character horror villain, comic book character
horror villain, something like that? Comic book
character horror, comic book character horror.
That was my prediction. Okay. So how about number
58, the world of horror films? And guess what,
guys? It's a film. So let's go back to the 1980s,
1987 to be specific. for another icon, I guess,
in that genre with Pinhead at number 58. So I
don't know if visually it gets more iconic than
Pinhead. DJ and Matt, take this one first. What
do you think? We had Jigsaw a few picks back
and now Pinhead. What do you guys make of that?
We have such sights to show you. I know this
is all you, Matt. This is all you. It's all me?
Yeah, because I'm into Pinhead. I love him. You're
into Pinhead. I mean, it's funny because, like,
his kind of backstory gets revealed as, like,
the films kind of progress in part two and part
three and things like that. So, I mean, it's
kind of a weak backstory that he has, but, I
mean, he kind of ends just by the means where
he's, like, this just demon who wants to torture
people because it brings him pleasure. weird
snm elements and all these other crazy things
that clive barker's come up with in his own twisted
little head so but yeah it comes from and i think
this is where we're going to start seeing so
many more iconic you know horror villains come
out just because how they look it's like that
look is unmistakable as soon as you see that
white face with those pins all over you know
that that's pinhead that's the centelbite the
lead centelbite that everybody knows um but i
mean he is a horrible person because he is basically
the devil when you really break it down he makes
deals with people and when he kind of sees fit
he's like yeah fuck the deal you're coming down
the hell with me i'm going to torture your ass
for millennia so i mean what's more kind of devious
and demonic than that i mean there aren't any
other horror villains maybe outside of like jigsaw
that just love to torture people for the most
part and uh it's it's a good it's a good horror
villain i mean i think he's kind of placed in
the right area in the uh you know that almost
50 range and everything so he's halfway there
but yeah i mean i'm i'm team pinhead all day
so is uh so is my better half and she might be
upset that he's not higher because she had him
at number 12 technically technically jig jigsaw
didn't torture people for the sake of it. It
was save yourself. Yeah, I was like, yeah, but
I mean, you know, he was probably sitting in
the corner going like, oh man, it's torture show.
This is so hot. This is so hot right now. Steve,
Pinhead might not be everybody's choice for Mount
Rushmore, as they said, of horror villains, but
would he be if we were just looking at it from
a visual standpoint? I mean, he's got to be one
of the most intimidating looking horror villains.
He's probably one of the freakiest looking one.
aside from Freddy Krueger. Yeah, I agree. Dan,
what do you think? Pinhead here? I'm actually
surprised he gets ranked ahead of Jigsaw or Chucky,
because I feel like they're... jigsaw being a
more current character and i feel like chucky's
probably a little bit more well known um in the
sense of like the popularity of the films but
i do know that uh you know panhead has like there's
a those movies are still being made i mean sort
of chucky films no horror movies die that's that's
that's the key um but i it's visually certainly
very intimidating i do wonder like like great
look and then they put all that effort into it
and i feel like they made the movie and they're
like you know what we forgot to name them Yeah,
it's like, hey, he's got pins up his head. There
you go. Done. Nice, nice. All right, let's go
on to number 57 here. It's been three picks,
so let's go back to the 1800s because every third
pick so far in this side of the countdown has
been back there. Let's also go back to a creator
that we've already seen today, not too long ago,
back to the world of Robert Louis Stevenson.
For a character that first appeared in a novel
in 1886, let's go to Mr. Hyde at number 57 of
Jekyll and Hyde fame. Another classic literary
villain. Dan, what do you make of this one? You
had him at number 13. Is this too low for Mr.
Hyde? I don't know. I think it's fine. I did
because... I guess when I was reading Jekyll
and Hyde, I'm thinking like, Mr. Hyde, so much
like Moby Dick, that is a certain kind of cliche
that has now been, it's like, think of someone
like the Incredible Hulk, certainly very much
influenced by the Jekyll and Hyde idea of becoming
like the thing you fear most or having this inner
demon that ends up becoming like its own entity.
yeah i you know what what could have happened
too is he could have been higher than some people
watched the mummy and saw uh that version of
the character and then dropped it off completely
but though i do really like i have a soft spot
for the league of extraordinary gentlemen and
he's in that too um in the comic as well but
so i i do like that character and um That character's
been used all over the place, like mentioned,
from comics to really bad movies. But I think
the premise of it is what really sticks with
me, and it's why I ranked it as high as I did.
Steve, what do you think of Mr. Split Personality
being here at number 57? I know nothing. Know
nothing about Dr. Jekyll? I don't want to get
the... I know... I know enough about him to know
that he's just a psychopath as Mr. Hyde. But
yeah, I think that that character may have gotten
tainted by that new Mummy movie. Among other
characters in that film. DJ, are you surprised
he's not higher? I mean, this has got to be one
of the most iconic classic villains, right? I
guess, but I mean, I think there's other ones
that... Think about that Mummy movie. Let's go
back to that again. It's terrible. I kind of
understood what Russell Crowe was going to do
there, because I always like the differences.
I like the split personality of the Jekyll, where
he's kind of the proper British gentleman, and
then he goes, I like what Russell Crowe was doing
there, but it's just the execution by that director
was horrible. Jekyll, when it comes to the, every
time I think of Jekyll, I just think of Jack
the Ripper, and I'm thinking him more of a, even
though they're kind of similar in terms of craziness.
The thing about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is almost
like more about the inner struggle of the character
to me. I don't really see him leapfrogging characters
that are just plain out to be bad, and essentially
we're just going to follow these horrible, horrible
people. I can see him being this low on the list.
I'm surprised he's under certain characters,
but I can see him being right here. Matt, have
we blown our load as far as the pre -1900 characters?
Because that's like the 11th or 12th character
that we've had that's predating the 1900s. So
are we just seeing them all right now and we're
not going to see any of the rest of the way?
Or what do you think? I don't know. There still
might be a few that are still kind of like, you
know, not coming out yet. But in terms of just
kind of like characters that are iconic, in terms
of just a pure villain that we know so well has
been used in so many different mediums, Mr. Hyde
definitely fits the bill. And yeah, I mean, maybe
it slid down the list a little bit just because
everybody had such a bad taste in their mouth
from the last Mummy movie. I mean, I hate to
keep harping on that, but that might be some
type of recency bias where like, yeah, fuck that.
He sucked. and I didn't think he was that bad
in The Mummy I thought Russell Crowe was probably
one of the more shiny examples of shit like polishing
a turd basically I don't know what it was but
he was fine in that movie the movie was not good
but he was fine in it but I like the concept
of Mr. Hyde because it's something we can all
kind of deal with and we all kind of you know
we all have that inner fucking demon in us we
just don't let it out you know uh except on the
internet i don't let it out every week i don't
know um except on twitter when you're faceless
you can say whatever you want all the time so
this is social media you can say whatever you
want um but yeah i mean i'm kind of thinking
about other villains that are like pre -1900
that might show up on the list and we still might
get a few but uh you know maybe we'll get a dr
faustist or something like that who knows um
there we go But we'll see what happens down the
line. But I think that's if this is the crescendo
of pre 1900 literary villains, I mean, it's a
good way to kind of end that streak, if you will.
All right. Well, we had a literary villain. So
let's go to a pop culture villain. And actually,
let's go to something that we haven't really
seen yet and something that usually doesn't get
represented. So maybe some, I guess. happiness
that it's represented at all let's go to an anime
villain uh i guess if you want to call it that
um let's go to dragon ball z world that doesn't
give it away though because there's so many villains
from that series so number 56 will be frieza
40 of the list 40 of the list steve in your top
ten, so we'll let you start here. Why Frieza
out of all the Dragon Ball villains? Because
he's the most annoying and... Thank you. Somebody
said it. They give him... Oh, he sounds like
this every time you hear him. And he takes so
long to transform into his four different forms,
and then they kill him. They bring him back as
a robot cyborg. They kill him again. They bring
him back in the underworld. They kill him again.
They bring him back in the return of F or revenge
of F or resurrection. And then they kill him
again. And he comes back with a fifth form. But
he's probably the main go -to villain that everyone
is scared of collectively. And yet they keep
going back to him. Even though I would argue
that possibly Cell would be more of a head -to
-head. uh fight with with goku than than frieza
but frieza was the one that set off the uh the
super saiyan chain and kind of uh was the the
leading off to the uh the the god level characters
that they're at now in uh dragon ball super So
anybody with Dragon Ball Z or Dragon Ball general
questions, direct those to Steve. I used to be
the only one in my high school and middle school
that would walk around and know literally everything
about Dragon Ball Z. A lot of people almost got
this one on the nose here. It comes in at number
56. I had it at 59. Dan, you had it at 60. Eduardo,
62. TV's Mr. Neal, 53. So a lot of people had
them around here. Dan, what do you think? Why
is Frieza? deserving to be on here. I mean, I
was trying to get some sort of representation
from anime, and I have very little experience
when it comes to anime, but I did watch Dragon
Ball Z for a bit, and he fits that character
of just being extremely bratty. and like just
like as you mentioned very annoying um but also
like you do see him kind of like it's kind of
the the recipe for Dragon Ball Z where it's like
the really evil guy that they all try to kill
and or tries to kill everybody but then they
kind of just forgive him and now he's like on
their side but he's still kind of bad um but
um so uh it like when I think of Dragon Ball
Z like I think of Goku and I think of Vegeta
and that show has been you know it's hugely important
or hugely popular worldwide. And it's, I guess,
you know, still going to say, as you mentioned
with just the amount of different times he's
died, been killed and come back and, uh, how,
uh, uh, how important into franchise. Uh, so
that's a big reason I, like, if I'm looking at
like, so you mentioned the characters that from
the franchise that are like scary villains or
more evil, probably what would go with, uh, uh
like excel or um was it frieza uh like that's
where i could watch around that that period of
time um until the point like i just couldn't
watch it anymore because i'm watching five episodes
and they legitimately have not progressed the
story at all in any way shape or form that's
that's why dragon ball z kai was a little bit
because it cut out all the filler yeah so um
but yeah so i I know there's a huge amount of
Dragon Ball Z, and there's a lot of people who
love them, and a lot of different villains, because
there are so many different characters, but I
feel like the most more, or at least the most
well -known and popular would be Vegeta. Yeah,
we'll have to wait and see what the fans think
as far as which villain should show up as far
as the Dragon Ball Z characters. I'm not knowledgeable
in it, so I'll comment. But I did think that
he was at least worthy. I was trying to find
an anime villain to get in there, and so this
is where I squeezed one in. But the few episodes
I liked, I liked better. Or the few episodes
I saw. All right, let's go back to the world
of TV for our number 55 pick. Actually, and let's
ref what we said way back at number 74 when we
were talking about Bowser. I said there would
only be one other character on as many lists
as Bowser, and that's what we're getting right
here with 48 % of the list, including Gus Fring.
So we already went once earlier. Does that shock
anybody? Bowser and Gus Fring are the two characters
talked about today that appeared on the most
lists. That is weird. It's a weird combination.
It is. Bowser and Gus Fring. Who would have thought
that they would both have been that popular?
Has your condition worsened? Excuse me? Your
medical condition. Has it grown worse? Not that
I know of, no. Is there a ringing in your ears?
Are you seeing bright lights or hearing voices?
I'm quite well, thank you. No. Clearly you are
not. No rational person would do as you have
done. Explain yourself. My partner was about
to get himself shot. I intervened. Some worthless
junkie. For him, you intervened and put us all
at risk. Some contemptible junkie who couldn't
keep the peace for eight hours. That's right.
He couldn't. He was angry because those two dealers
of yours had just murdered an 11 -year -old boy.
I heard about it. He should have let me take
care of them. Maybe. Then again, maybe he thought
it was you who gave the order. Are you asking
me if I ordered the murder of a child? Yeah,
even considering we've had Walter White on here.
Yeah, we've had Walter White. We've had a few
other characters show up so far, and Gus Fring
appearing on more lists than those guys. So,
Dan, what do you think as far as is he deserving
to be right here around that halfway mark? Yeah,
because I think there's no question regarding
him being a villain. He is rather evil, but again,
what's so great about his character is just the
persona he puts on in front of people and being
this head of this chicken, fried chicken franchise,
but how truly evil that man is and how ridiculous.
I felt like... Every time I saw him, I was scared
of him. And just like he had, he was always this
threat to Walt White and to everyone else. So
I am surprised he's on as many lists as he is.
But also, I think one of my favorite deaths,
I did enjoy his, how he did get his comeuppance,
as they say. So, yeah, I don't know. I'm really
shocked. Once we had Walter Wright, I just assumed
that would be it for Breaking Bad, but here you
go. DJ, any surprise that we got two Breaking
Bad characters in here? No, because Gus Fring
is awesome. And I guess because Walter White,
the whole arc of the show is that he is the villain,
but this villain, Walter White's villain, is
Gus Fring. So if you gotta find somebody even
more, a person who broke even worse than Walter
White. Gus Fring is that guy. I mean, this is
a guy who poisoned himself to kill people. I
mean, the guy has done some horrible things,
and Dan was touching on it. His stillness when
he's not... Just the threat of violence in the
guy's face is frightening. I forget the guy's
name. Is it... Gene Carlo Esposito. Yeah, Esposito.
He's awesome in that role. I think he's now on
Better Call Saul. Kind of in the prequel route.
But he's awesome. And for a character on television
to just frighten you where you don't know what
he's going to do. You literally have no idea.
You could be smiling in your face as somebody
is prepared to shoot you in the back. You have
no idea what's going to happen. Gus Fring is,
of all the characters on Breaking Bad, a show
with amazing characters, he always stands out.
Matt, any thoughts? Yeah. I mean, and you think
about like the person he has in his back pocket
is Mike too. So you think about how cold Mike
is the entire time too. And when you know about
Mike's, how he broke bad then too, it's like
everything gets kind of like snowballs into like
how everybody's just broke really fucking bad.
And how. Gus Fring has probably the guy who broke
the worst at a certain point too. So the fact
that he has Mike in his back pocket and as his
muscle, like who would have thought Mike was
like muscle, but he's like the biggest muscle
in the whole show. But going back to what Dan
was saying too, with like his ending, his comeuppance
is like so gangster too. It's like, you can't
think of like another person who goes out as
badass as he does almost. And that's what a lot
of these villains, I think the way a lot of these
villains go out, It's very memorable to a lot
of people and why he gets a lot more votes too
sometimes because Frieza dies five times, keeps
coming back. Best friend goes out, people don't
remember him. Pinhead died a bunch of times,
but whatever. But all these people who died really
epically too get higher votes as well too. We
did see Darth Maul already. Darth Maul, he went
out like a bitch, but he came back with his metal
legs. He was all good. But yeah, Gus Fring, if
anybody on that show deserves a higher rank,
it's definitely him. Yeah, just his threat. I
don't know, him being scary. And like you said,
DJ, him poisoning himself to make his point.
Yeah, pretty good. All right. Let's go to number
54, another character that has already been mentioned
today once in passing somewhat. Let's go to a
character that's mostly known for a Disney film,
but originated in a novel from 1956, Cruella
de Vil. So we had Jafar. Now we have Cruella
de Vil. Dan, what do you think? Oh, Pongo. It's
her. Must be Cruella, your dearly devoted old
schoolmate. Cruella de Vil. That's it. Cruella
de Vil, Cruella de Vil. If she doesn't scare
you, no evil thing will. To see her is to take
a sudden chill. Cruella, Cruella. She's like
a spider waiting for the... Roger, she'll hear
you. Let her in, Nanny. Anita, darling! How are
you? Miserable, darling, as usual. Perfectly
wretched. Who, Cruella? I don't... The puppies!
The puppies! No time for games. Where are the
little brutes? Oh, it'll be at least three weeks.
No rushing these things, you know. Anita, you're
such a wit. Here, dog. Here. Here, dog. Cruella,
isn't that a new fur coat? My only true love,
darling. I live... After all, is there a woman
in all this wretched world who doesn't? Oh, I'd
like a nice fur, but there are so many other
things. Sweet, simple Anita. I know, I know.
This horrid little house is your dream castle.
Of course you have your little spotted friends.
Ah, yes. Yes, I must say, such perfectly beautiful
coats. Won't you have some tea, Cruella? Now,
I've got to run, darling. Now, let me know when
the poppies arrive. You will, won't you, dear?
Yes, Cruella. Now, don't forget. It's a promise.
See you in three weeks. Cheerio. Cheerio, darling.
At first you think Cruella is a devil, but after
time has worn away the shock. You come to realize
you've seen her kind of eyes, watching you from
underneath a rock. You're no help, Rog. This
vampire bat, this inhuman beast, she ought to
be locked up. And never released The world was
such a wholesome place until Cruella, Cruella
de Vil Oh, Roger, you are an idiot. I think when
she was, I know she definitely was in our animated
character list. And again, like, talking about
evil, like, someone who just loves killing puppies.
Like, that's like her thing. She just wants to
kill puppies. So, it's like, you gotta, I mean,
if you're raking, yeah, if you're gonna, yeah.
And in a Disney movie, I mean, yes, she was in
a novel too, but like in a Disney movie, like
that's, that's her goal. And also, we gotta make
a list by the end of this of the most villainous
acts. That's pretty villainous. Yeah. Steve,
what do you think of Cruella de Vil coming in
here right around the midway point? She's a politician
and a business person put in one. So, I mean,
you know. How does it get more evil than that?
DJ, so far, Captain Hook, Jafar, and now Cruella
de Vil. Is that the right order? I think so.
I mean, Cruella de Vil is so evil, okay? The
character in the movie designs a song around
how evil she is. He's like, I got to make a song
about this woman. This woman is fucking evil.
All right, Cruella Littleville. He's making fucking
songs about her because he knows of Rip. This
girl is evil. Look at her. Just look at her.
If you take the look aside, the fact that she
is smoking that. pink panther long cigarette
and blowing smoke in people's faces and then
on top of it i just want your puppies to make
a coat the most vain deplorable act ever it's
like i want to murder a baby so i can wear their
put their clothes on my christmas tree it's like
the most craziest disney villain if you're thinking
of disney villains who do evil things this has
to be top three for me it's so Despicable, especially
in a world where puppies are like, you know,
people care more about puppies getting harmed
than actual people. We asked the question if
maybe Mr. Hyde was the crescendo of classic literary
villains. Matt, is Cruella de Vil the crescendo
of Disney film villains? I mean, crescendo. No,
I think we'll see more Disney villains, but I
think this is probably the most. villainous.
Go back to what I was saying before. Nobody in
Disney movies is skinning puppies and making
codes. Sorry. She's like the leather face of
Disney at this point. She's the leather face
of puppies. Imagine hanging a puppy on a hook.
She's the leather face of puppies. That's perfect.
That's the only way I can really think. Her name
is Cruel Devil. Cruel Devil! What's her name?
I'm sorry, you called Cruella DeVille all day.
Cruel Devil. It's Cruel Devil, that's true. It's
true, these are facts. She drives over a ledge
to run somebody over, but she misses and kills
herself. That's evil. That's evil. But did she
really die? Maybe not. Glenn Close played her
in a movie. She's the leading candidate so far
for the most villainous name, at least. At least
that much. One thing I'm learning as we go through
this is apparently villains that appeared in
films that were not the 80s and 2000s are always
based on novels and things like that. So apparently
the 80s and 2000s was the only two eras where
villains from films were like... created originally
for that work because we have another one that
originated in a novel first here at number 53
and that would be max katie um obviously famously
played by robert de niro etc in film version
but appeared in the novel first so uh max katie
number 53 dan what do you think we will we talked
about especially bob and um you know and He obviously
had a great, one of the best episodes of The
Simpsons when he basically does a huge homage
to that character. And don't forget that there's
what, he's been portrayed in film twice, if I'm
not mistaken. Yes, Robert Mitchum as well, yeah.
Yes. Yeah, which I've never seen his portrayal.
I've seen, you know, I saw the Scorsese film
and like, man. De Niro can be – it's like he
took what he did in Taxi Driver and removed any
good qualities of that character had, and then
that's Max Cady. He's just like – he is a freak.
He is just – especially people who love movies,
being a jerk in a movie theater makes him especially
evil. That shouldn't be the worst thing he does,
but it's certainly up there. But yeah, I've never
read the book, but my inclination was going to
the 90s film that he was in, so my ranking of
him was based solely on that. But it's certainly
a villain where you can understand why we've
seen so many different versions of him. That
complete maniac that goes after that all -American
family and just causes havoc just because he
can. Yeah, 44 % of the list. So that means we
had Gus Fring, Bowser, and then Jigsaw and Max
Cady as far as the most representation. DJ, what
do you think about Max Cady coming in here? Again,
right around the halfway point. Yeah, he's one
of those ones. I mean, that score, Scorsese's
direction, walking literally into the camera.
We've been talking about characters comeuppance.
The way Robert De Niro does it in the Scorsese
version freaks me out every time because it's
kind of like... Spoiler alert, the boat is sinking,
and the last thing you see is him glaring at
Nickelodeon. It's just so scary. This is a prime
example of, hey, just do your job. Don't F anybody
over, because you never know. A person has nothing
to lose, and it's just going to focus all their
attention on destroying your life. That is more
frightening than any monstrous creature from
a... the abyss because the person is just going
to be following you and he's coming after your
daughter in this creepy lolita sort of way juliet
lewis and him they have this weird creepy thing
going on it's it's frightening and max can he
be on this list i'm glad he's this high i think
he's right where he needs to be too Yeah, about
six of us had him in the 50 or 60 range. So a
lot of people in agreement here probably with
where he shows up on the list. We have our first
tie of today's episode in the last two picks.
So 52 and 51 are tied, and I can't think of two
better characters to be tied with each other.
So coming in at number 52, I'm also interested
to see what kind of reaction we're going to get
from this. This may be exposing a slight bias
of the network. We'll see. Number 52, I guess
you can call this originating in the source as
far as a toy, maybe? Let's go with Cobra Commander.
36 % of the list, all the way up to number 6
on one person's list, 8 on another person's list.
36 % of people say Cobra Commander is top 100
worthy. This is the world, Mr. Treff. Everything
is for sale. Matt, what do you think? Cobra Commander.
Oh, man. We've had this argument, DJ, about which
Cobra Commander you like better. Do you like
the hooded Cobra Commander? Faceplate all day,
baby. I'm all about the hood. Because that's
more evil. A hood is more evil than a faceplate.
See, I like the battle armor. The battle armor
is also cool. cool but he's essentially i mean
you see how much of like a punk ass he is when
he meets serpentine serpentine so so but he's
still a very awesome villain for the entire joe
crew and everything like that he's the voice
like you get a lot of that everything my boot
baroness oh yes easily i mean he's just like
that kind of he's up there with dr claw for me
a little bit in terms of the voice uh but he's
always loses all the time which is cool you know
that's kind of what a villain does in the cartoons
at least but uh he's iconic on cobra commander
is an iconic villain through and through. I always
feel bad for Serpentor and Destro and all these
other guys because they always get left in the
dust. It's all just Cobra Commander. Because
Cobra Commander's dope! Destro's like, yo, I
got a metal face too, what up? Nah, nah, nah,
son, nah, son. Did you show up on Transformers
the Animated Series? No, I did. So Steve, we
had Starscream back at whatever, number 88. 88,
and now we have Cobra Commander at 52. What do
you think? I love the fact that Chris Lotta makes
a return. Especially with that iconic voice and
the fact that everyone seems to forget, although
Serpentor did dispatch Cobra Commander, Cobra
Commander did dispatch Serpentor. It just took
until the Sunbow series to take him out. He was
a genius. He was a genius. Another character
that's been around for a long time, you know,
multiple, multiple G .I. Joe cartoon series,
obviously a movie, I guess, and some other things.
So, I mean, he's he's had the staying power since
1982. He's still showing up in things. So there's
just a series of what, like two or three years
ago that had him. So interesting. We'll continue
the conversation going with Cobra Commander as
we get into our next pick. So if you haven't
had a chance to comment, you can comment here
when we revealed the number 51 pick who Cobra
Commander was tied with. Why? Because Cobra Commander
was on 36 percent. of the list, and this character
was on 44 % of the list. And that would be Skeletor.
Silence, you little bag of wind! So, a double
animated, 80th animated villain character here
going with Cobra Commander and Skeletor. So,
DJ, what do you think? Did we get them in the
right order? I mean, I guess they tied, technically.
I love Skeletor because I've been doing Skeletor
voice since I was a little kid. I think I love
Cobra Commander a little bit more because it's
Chris Lauda and Chris Lauda's awesome. Skeletor.
Think about Skeletor. And I love the original
anime series. I'm doing the Geico commercials
with it now. But there was the cartoon that I
talk about to Matt all the time. The Cartoon
Network version of Skeletor is a Skeletor I loved
because he was a badass. I like Frank Langella.
Well, you like Frank Langella. I'll be back.
I like the Cartoon Network one because he would
not retreat. He wasn't as sniveling. And he would
kind of Hang with he man. You're gonna be a pretty
badass if you're hanging with He -Man, okay?
Cobra Commander had, like, an army, you know
what I'm saying? He's going against another army.
It's Skeletor and, like, a bunch of flunkies
versus the strongest being in the universe. And
he's hanging with them. So, yeah, Skeletor is
awesome, but I think I would have kept Cobra
Commander a little bit higher, because Cobra
Commander has... He's just so cool. Now, if you're
going with how they ranked when we did the 80s
villain GCR and Wars tournament, Skeletor...
destroyed cover commander and went head to head
with with generation one megatron so i think
it's because i think a skeletor can fight and
cover commander doesn't really get down like
that he's more of an order he's like yeah i can
understand it but he's just just this i think
the manipulative sniveling guys are more interesting
to me than you know though i did like the fact
that skeletor in the cartoon network version
wasn't like a retreater he'd be like okay well
I don't give a damn if it's He -Man. I'll fight
him. And there's always a shot of He -Man doing
some crazy feat, and it is cut to Skeletor, and
he has the mouth agape like... What the fuck?
I've always loved that about him. And that voice.
That he -man. That stuff is awesome. So, yeah.
I think two characters are going to be tied on
this list. I think these are the proper two characters
to be tied because they're both awesome. It was
destined. It was your fate. I can't believe it
came out like that. Dan, have we gone off the
rails or what's going on here? I don't believe
this. Neither do I. I think it's a sign of things
to come. We got all the literature, kind of classic
characters out of the way. Let's kind of get
deep into the geekdom. As we get into the other
half of this list, I think we're going to see
a lot more repeats of this. Really not expected
to finish with Skeletor and Cobra Commander considering
where we started. I just want to see some sort
of graph or like Venn diagram of all these characters
and seeing how that, I can only imagine what
that looks like. The only question for me is
when they finally do a new live action He -Man,
who plays Skeletor? So that's what I want the
fans to let me know. We did an episode where
I recast it on our podcast a couple years back,
but I don't even remember who I put as Skeletor.
Yeah, well, he does have the word make -up. He's
fun. He's fun. And I'm still pushing for Hemsworth
as He -Man, so I don't know. All right, so Cobra
Commander and Skeletor ending the countdown.
So that's it for the reveals today. Just real
quick, going around the horn, Steve. We were,
again, all over the place with classic literary
villains, two Shakespeare, two Simpsons, two
Robert Louis Stevenson characters, two 80s action
characters to end the day, Frieza thrown in there.
I mean, we finally got a comic book character
with General Zod, two horror characters with
Jigsaw and Pinhead. What do you make of today's,
Steve? Well, I was happy to see that I had about
seven characters show up in this episode, but
it was a little bit different getting this. It's
still a crazy grab bag, and it's kind of got
me worried about what's going to come up in the
last two. But I can't see that having that many
literary classics left to fill up the tournament
here in the top 100. So I think that... We're
going to end up seeing a lot of iconic characters
start popping up between the next two episodes,
whether it be something from, say, Terminator
or something, or more superhero -type comic -related
series villains. But yeah, there's still quite
a few that haven't been touched that are severely
iconic and will be sad if they don't show up.
Yeah, another thing that comes around here now
that we've reached the halfway point is at the
beginning there's 100 spots, there's a lot of
characters to talk about, and now those spots
keep becoming fewer and fewer, and there's less
chance of people sneaking in and snagging one
of those spots. So that's where some people kind
of get a little bit nervous on will characters
appear or not. We already had two number ones
fall in today's episode. Matt, what was the most
surprising thing for you today? I mean, looking
at the list, it's almost an extension to the
first quarter of the 100 list, where it's still
a pretty wide open race. It's kind of the Wild
West when it comes to this second quarter of
the top 100. But I think now you're going to
start seeing the dominoes start to fall with
comic book characters, horror characters. I think
this is kind of the last hurrah for literary
characters and Shakespearean characters. Yeah,
I mean, I like the fact that the top or the bottom
50 are kind of a grab bag. I like the fact that
people are kind of thinking a little bit outside
the box and not just going with what they know
all the time. So it's going to be a way more
interesting conversation. Maybe not way more
interesting, but it's going to be one of those
things like, yeah, I agree, I agree, because
you're going to get into the top 50 and be like,
oh, yeah. Where was that person in the other
half of the countdown? So you're going to start
getting into much more familiar territory, I
think, coming up in the next top 50. But I like
the list so far. It's a fun list where people
are thinking outside the box a little bit. Yeah,
I think that's one thing that's been the most
fun so far. AP English class all the way, man.
Come on. Right. I think one thing that's been
fun, especially about this countdown, it's just
the complete unknown about where people were
going to go with this, and it has been interesting
to see which route they took. DJ, if you had
to look at today and, say, pick one character
that deserves to be top 50, who would that have
been that deserved to be on the other side of
the mark? Cobra Commander. Oh, look at you. You
gotta understand, man. I grew up with Megatron
and Cobra effing Commander, okay? And Megatron
was kind of like, you know, delegating, and the
Cobra Commander had style, man. He had the faceplate.
He had the faceplate. But, yeah. Coming away
from all of this, I think I would just say you
win books, alright? I'm wrong. I think I'm packing
it in. People read. People apparently read, and
because books has a... taken so many of these
spots, I think a lot of the characters that we
might have thought are going to be on this, at
least I would have thought would have been in
the top 50, might not even be on this list, which
is surprising to me, because if you would have
told me, you know, this top 100 villains of all
time list would have had Long John Silver on
here, I just wouldn't have expected it. I mean,
not saying he didn't deserve it, it's just, wow,
that means that somebody big from comic book
horror might have been given the shaft, I believe.
Yeah, so there might be some characters that
people thought were shoe -ins that aren't even
going to make it. Dan, another thing that happens
sometimes around this point is people try to
predict the rest of the list, or people try to
start putting their top tens together now that
they've seen what's fallen. Is that going to
be an easy task with this one, or is it going
to be kind of what Matt was alluding to, where
it's just like, yep, yep, yep, as far as when
we get closer to the top? I have no idea, honestly.
It's hard to really say, because, you know, we're...
I'm not surprised we saw some Shakespeare characters.
I'm surprised about how many and which ones we've
seen. So I think, yeah, there's a good 25 characters.
I feel like I'm pretty certain, maybe not even
that many, 10, 15. And I feel like, yeah, they're
definitely going to be there. But outside of
that, I really don't know. We've only gotten
one comic book villain and not that many TV villains
so far either. couple 80s villains we had Starscream
but does that mean there's more to come I feel
like that's a good sign of what we're about to
see but I really don't know it's hard to say
because you know like some people said like did
we hit the crescendo with some and then there's
the other question is this just the tip of the
iceberg so it's will the trends continue and
will we just continue to see more classic villains
or like DJ alluded to will we just see all horror
villains and comic book villains the rest of
the way I don't know. Like it's, it's, I mean,
I know because I've seen the list, but the rest
of you guys don't. So I'm interested to see what
some reactions we have to some of the characters
left. So, you know, obviously we encourage you
guys to go to the website right now and comment
on what you've seen so far. What did you like?
What did you dislike? We like, you know, hearing
all the people telling us that, you know, this
person deserved to be here there and we got the
order wrong, et cetera. We like those conversations.
So definitely let us know on the website and
we'll interact with you there. I think almost
all of us DJs. Steve, myself, Dan, I can't remember
if you did or not, but we all have responded
to a few of the comments on the website. So definitely
keep those going because we enjoy that. And there's
still those Facebook matchups, too. If you want
to go scroll through the last couple of weeks
of our Facebook posts on Geekcast Radio, you
can comment on some of the individual matchups
we put up there, too, because, hey, maybe some
of those are characters that we might see here
in the top 50. So, DJ, Matt, any last thoughts
about the top 100 so far and what are you looking
forward to next week? I think we're going to
have one more 80s cartoon villain on this list,
and I think Steve might be happy about who it
is. That's DJ's prediction. Steve, final thought?
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what
pops up on the next episode. I don't think it'll
just be an 80s villain. I think he may be also
a conclusive 90s and current villain, so we'll
just have to kind of... Wait and see. I have
my suspicions. Dan, do you know who you're putting
your money on as far as the pools and the bets
in Vegas as far as what shows up at number one?
Mandalay Bay. Number one, I have no idea. I mean,
I thought we'd see more. Yeah, I don't know.
I'm going to guess. Jeez, here we go. I have
no idea. Vaughn is bookie. He's Vaughn is bookie.
I'm going to go with Squarepants. There. Who's
the villain in Romeo and Juliet? Maybe it's going
with that. Captain America. All right. Love was
the villain. You'll have to wait. We'll reveal
it here shortly in a few episodes, so you'll
have to wait and let us know what you think.
So obviously go to the Facebook, follow us there,
go to Twitter, and follow the network there,
Geekcast Radio. You can follow each one of us
individually on Twitter if you want to talk to
us. Specifically, I'm at OptimusSolo. Steve,
what's your Twitter? At SCP21. Dan, what's your
Twitter? I'm at MovieRevolt. DJ? at trying to
be djv and matt at simple tweeters right and
obviously do listen to the simplistic reviews
and hear more matt and dj because that's never
a bad thing and don't forget also to check out
all of our don't check forget to check out all
of our other contributors uh pop culture case
study in session film following films real films
uh there's a bunch more that we'll talk about
throughout the rest of the the episode so that's
it for this week until next time when we reveal
50 through 26. Meet a motley group of gnomes.
But Skeletor, it was He -Man who was... He -Man?
Always He -Man!
