Talking in Circles
Debuting What Are The Chances Game

About this Episode
Hey, this is Bill Corrales from the Sketches
Indiegogo campaign and you're listening to Talking
in Circles on the Geekcast Radio Network. You
are now on the inside of what I like to call
the Circle of Trust. We are all connected in
a great circle of life. You know something Bert?
What? I think you and I are going in circles.
It feels like we're going in circles. The circle
is now complete. When I left you, I was but the
third. Now I am the last. Because it's a circle.
Yeah, we heard about the circle. Yes, we're familiar
with shapes. Hi, this is Chuck. This is Greg.
And this is Dan, and we are Talking in Circles,
brought to you by the Deepcast Radio Network.
the podcast that likes to play the odds. I say
that because today we're debuting a new game
called What Are The Chances? And we'll be getting
to that in our second segment. We'll give it
a little bit more mysterious until we get there.
But before we get to the fun of that new game,
how's the week been going for you guys? My week
was awesome because my whole saga with my office
flood is finally over. Nice, nice. Our office
has been repaired at least were at least my section
anyway, so we were able to move back in on Monday
and Never thought I would miss my desk so much
So glad to be back there did you do like a slow
like run up to it like, you know in the movies
where Now I kind of just stood there and like
just like took a deep breath and like took in
all the smells That that new carpet smell and
everything nice nice Very cool. Yeah, that's
always good, you know. Doesn't like a little
formaldehyde in the morning. Yeah. Better than
me sucking a cramp room with a bunch of people.
So that makes sense. Yeah. And the tattletale.
And the birthday boy, Greg, man, how's your week
been going? Thanks for sticking that in there,
Dan. I'm doing pretty good. I had to visit the
doctor today. I've got like this weird throat
issue going on. But then on top of that, for
like years now, I've had this issue where I can't
When i wake up in the morning i just feel like
crap it feels like somebody has been like laying
on top of me the entire nights whenever i wake
up sorry that was me. Dammit chuck i told you
about that i thought we discussed this no but
uh so i had that issue going on and so he was
going over like different things like like other
symptoms that may have played into it and so
he was asking if there was like anything that's.
stressing me during my REM cycle, the rapid eye
movement. So he's asking if I've been having
dreams or anything. And then he phrased something
quite how you expect a doctor not to phrase something.
I mean, he's quite an older gentleman at this
point, but he asked me if I had boners. Which
is I thought quite odd. I'm not sure if I displayed
it or not on my face And then the boner on your
face is that yeah Where I constantly keep the
boners on my face, but but then he went into
morning wood. I'm like Once in a while, but not
that many that I think it's affecting my REM
cycle like So that that that was an interesting
Midway break through my day You should have asked
him that same question back. Were you like, yeah,
I do. Was he like, what are they like? I miss
them so much. Yeah, it was awkward. I don't know
what else to say. That definitely would be awkward.
It's like, what's the technical word? I think
it's boner. Like, no, that's not the technical
word. There are so many better words to use.
Yeah. And before that, I was talking to his physician's
assistant. She was a little bit more professional
by using the word stool instead of shit or crap
or poop. Yeah, I need a shit sample. There's
this bucket, can you put shit in it? You can
set it on that stool over there. There's a nice
spot quarantined over there in the corner. Perfect.
Shit in this bag and set it on that stool. Speaking
of shit Mexican food, uh, no, uh, I actually
For last week we ended up talking a lot about
Mexican food and I ended up going chipotle nice
last week and it was during lunchtime so it was
rather busy and The lady in front of me She like
didn't get rice or beans What's the point of
her burrito, then? What is the point of your
burrito at Chipotle if you're not getting rice
or beans? Exactly. Well, this is where the fun
starts. The guy gives her the chicken meat or
whatever. You know, the chicken or meat, depending
on what it looks like. And it was a normal amount.
And when he did that, she's like, I know you're
going to give me more than that. And he's like,
well, I just gave you the normal amount. And
she's like, well, I didn't get any other stuff,
so I should be getting more. And I'm like, I
want to be like, that's not how that works at
all. Like, that's not how that works. I can't,
like, not get fries and then thinking I'm getting
an extra hamburger. It's like, that's not...
You can do that? No, you can't. But she's like,
I'm just saying, like, if I was a customer, like,
that's how I would feel. Like, I would feel like
that you should be giving me more because she
is the customer. I know. So the guy's like really
confused. He's like, I can't. This is just and
she's like being really, really hard. on him
and eventually he's like looking around I guess
he sees his manager's not there so he puts a
little bit extra on her plate but he's like then
she's like thank you and but then he gives this
like disgusted face like like scoffing at her
but she's still looking at him so I'm like why
would you do that like she's looking like it's
like so she goes off I mean off like crazy screaming
and yelling and then she looks at me he's like
can you believe what he just did can you believe
it I'm like I just want a burrito bowl. That
was my goal. That's it. I just want to get my
food. It's just I don't have that much time.
It was she was crazy. And then she actually caused
the two people that were in front of her just
to walk out of the line and leave completely
because she was just being super ridiculous.
It was just insane. It was just. Yeah, I did
get my good news is I did get my burrito bowl,
though. Though I was sitting down to eat it and
I was put some hot sauce on it, but I guess someone
was being a jerk So they you know, the hot sauces
have that thing in it. So it does not that much
comes out at once They took that out. So just
don't they poured a bunch of hot sauce right
into my burrito bowl You had a burning fire of
a burrito bowl Yeah, the thing is I loved it.
So jokes on them, but I paid for it later. I'll
just say that so volcano bowl Exactly. So that's
been my week. It's been rather busy work wise
and whatnot. But I did get an opportunity to
watch a few things and catch up with a few things.
HBO like two weeks ago kind of came out with
their new slate like every so often they have
like their, you know, those, their TV shows that
debut and it was Game of Thrones, Veep and Silicon
Valley. And, you know, I watched all those and
they're pretty much what you expect. I wanted
to kind of touch on silicon valley the most though
and greg have you have you watched that at all
no i think you might look at greg because it
has kumail nanjiani on it who i know you'll listen
to the indoor kids podcast yes i do so he's a
major character in that um and he's rather funny
there was actually he had a really in the last
episode had a really one of the best bits going
on because uh his his brother made this uh this
app called bro and long story short he involved
him going around a room telling people what the
word bro meant in other languages and it was
quite human it was it was rather funny what was
kind of interesting about silicon valley is that
they actually had a character like an actor who
was in the show passed away he died after the
filming of last season but before the filming
of this season so they actually had played that
into the storyline a little bit that's always
a weird situation shows It really is but I think
they did it really well because I think it really
fits the humor of the show and the way they kind
of handle it I loved it last season. I think
it's like stepped it up and it's been just as
funny like like last year It was it was good
and it got better and better and I think it's
kind of state sustain that since last year So
if you're you know, you like comedy you like
kind of I'd say a little bit It's a little bit
more raunchy and it's you know, it's Mike judge
who you know who did office space? Idiocracy
and you know, he had that type of sense of humor
and like he's really good at satirizing different
situations and you know with office space it's
that Office environment obviously and this is
the new tech boom like industry of the near the
Silicon Valley Google industries and like it's
really great at like poking fun at realistic
things and It's good satirization because it
feels real like it feels like this could kind
of happen. It's not too off the walls where it's
like this is Questionable I could see this kind
of being a thing happens, but uh It's interesting
just like how much of my TV watching is HV on
Saturday nights. It's like that is like the one
time I watch television, but But Greg I know
you again you being the intellectual one you
being the smart one and Books and everything
you're reading all these books and whatnot. So
what children's book did you read recently? No,
just joking I do know that you did read some
things. I am actually rather curious because
I did start reading ready player one It's been
really great to hopefully talk about that more.
So I'm always looking for a good book recommend
Well, I'd recommend everything that this gentleman
writes. His name is a Lee Martinez a dot space
Lee Martinez and He does a whole bunch of great
books that I'm really into he did this book called
Monster he did another one called Divine Misfortune
and he has like quite a few books I still need
to catch up on all of them but this last one
that I read was Emperor Mollusk versus the Sinister
Brain and it's as you can tell it's a science
fiction story and it's goofy as all hell not
completely goofy just the premise is kind of
goofy of this alien creature From I forget exactly
which planet it's either Jupiter or Venus if
that gets kind of like all slammed together But
he's he's a very intelligent being and he's a
mollusk pretty much with a great intelligence
intelligence greater than anybody else really
in the universe and he takes over our planet
and It's him versus a sinister brain pretty much.
It's a lot of fun It's got this tone that you
don't really take it too seriously. So it's just
a fun read and I go through his books very quickly.
It seriously took me about a day to read this
book, like seriously one day just hardcore reading
and I got it finished. Hardcore reading. Hardcore.
That's how I do, you know. Sounds dangerous.
It sounds really dangerous. Do you wear like
pads? I do wear protection. Sounds like the next
History Channel special. For those reading boners
that you might get. Do you feel like if this
was made into a movie, it would be something
that they would make fun of on Mystery Science
Theater 3000? I have a feeling it would be a
movie satiring all the other science fiction
movies. It's not going to take itself any seriously
whatsoever. It's definitely goofy. but a lot
of fun and you get flying around in this spaceship
that he has and he goes to the he's the emperor
of planet earth and he's going to the grocery
store to pick up his groceries and the bag boys
pissed at him and he has pretty much the whole
earth mind controlled he hasn't taken it by taking
us by force but he has the whole world essentially
mind controlled and he's kind of giving up on
his whole This whole sinister taking over of
worlds game he's kinda retired wants to get over
that but people are after him since he's kinda
pissed people off back in the day so. So it sounds
like it's like around the sense of humor something
like future Rama would would you say that's the
case yeah kind of a little bit less on the fart
jokes probably. It's a little bit more PG I would
say you definitely let your. Kids read it. I'm
not sure if they're gonna understand all of it,
but uh, it's not completely that at home, but
it's it's just as funny. I'd say Awesome. Cool.
I might have to have to check that out. Is it
like a kid length of a story? I don't know. It's
hard to tell because I read it on uh kindle Oh,
yeah, that's always tough. Yeah, you got uh A
percentage is how much you're through but his
books aren't Ever really that long and seriously
I did I did read it in a day 20 within 24 hours.
I I started and finished reading this book. So
I'm assuming it is it is a length that is is
good for a younger person and my happy birthday
30th at your ass Hey, this film that it feels
nothing at all different now No, it doesn't I
exactly felt the same way very cool So I'm gonna
have to check that out once I finish the book
that I'm currently reading which will probably
not be a for a long time because books are hard
and No, they're not you finish them in a day
damn I do Maybe a comic book maybe graphic novel,
but what I do finish in a day is a movie trailer
And there have been a lot of movie trailers kind
of being released. Funny, we talked about a few
last week, and of course, like, not long after
we finished recording, the Batman v Superman
trailer actually does come out. And, Chuck, I
know you did get the opportunity to see Batman
v Superman. There's been a lot of people talking
about it by the time this has come out, but I
think it's still worth talking about. So, you're
a huge Superman fan, we know that. So considering
that, what were your thoughts? on the batman
v superman dawn to justice return of man of steel
dark knight returns superman oh shit is that
the official name that we're calling it or that's
that's the european title so it's a working title
well to be honest i think like i wasn't too excited
about this movie to begin with just from what
i've been seeing but Honestly, I think the trailers
left me even more disappointed. I was not happy
with it at all and to me like I Know I understand
what Zack Snyder is trying to do he's sort of
trying to display Superman as like a guy that
you know, he's a hero coming into his own. He's
not the the full -fledged The full -fledged hero
of high morality that we all expect like right
off in the beginning So he's sort of given him
some obstacles some hurdles to go through and
some trials by fire to where he gets to that
point, but I Really have to question whether
this guy understands the character of Superman
like I really don't think he gets it sometimes
and At first, I didn't want to say that because
I thought, well, you know, I don't want to insult
the guy. I'm sure he's a longtime fan. I'm sure
he understands Superman. But that was until I
found this quote that he that he said, and this
was back a while ago. This was before he was
hired on for even Man of Steel. But he was actually
quoted as saying in this world, if Superman really
existed, he'd grab all the world leaders together
in a room and say, behave or I'll kill you. What
and I'm sorry that is not Superman at all that's
not even close to his character so Batman yeah,
I know and just looking at this trailer. It's
like Okay, he's saying like People are like really
idolizing Superman and in this in this context
like in the city of metropolis Which doesn't
make sense to me to begin with because he destroyed
half the city Why would you be building statues
and monuments and people worshiping him and stuff
like that? But the first and foremost point is
that Superman would never allow himself to be
worshiped like that. He's a very humble guy,
a very humble person, and he would never accept
that sort of, I don't know, attention upon himself.
Like, it just... Don't know I had so many problems
with that like I actually saw this really funny
video that I think Someone one of our one of
our podcasting friends put up on their Facebook
page I don't know if you got a chance to see
that Dan, but it was actually like this Sarcastic
video that someone did saying like how great
the trailer was But but the whole time honest
trailers. I think was that I'm not sure I think
I Think maybe DJ from simplistic reviews put
it up I saw it on his Twitter and everything
and I thought the video was perfect. We'll see
if we can find the link and put it up in the
show notes or something, but yeah I thought it
was it was just perfect because the guy was just
kind of saying everything that I said, you know,
maybe a little bit more eloquently even but Just
being sarcastic the whole way about how oh Zack
siders nailing this character like he knows exactly
how he's supposed to be like he wants to be worshipped
by everyone he wants all the attention on him
and like at the end you see like a Simpsons clip
where Homer Simpson like opens the door. He's
a go by the way I was being sarcastic and he
slams the door I Stop that fit perfectly. I love
that analysis of the trailer, but yeah, I don't
know I'm not too excited about this movie, to
be honest. I don't hate Superman like Greg. I'm
not a huge Superman fan like you, so I'm kind
of somewhere in the middle. And I was somewhere
in the middle when it came to Man of Steel. There
are things I liked and things I didn't like.
There were little elements of the trailer that
I found interesting, like how they incorporated
Jesse Eisenberg in the trailer. Like there's
a little bit of a snippet of him talking, which
I'm assuming will play a role. I get what they're
trying to do, but I feel like it's This movie
makes sense if in more so than like Christopher
Nolan universe in a lot of ways where It's like
the Dark Knight return story, which is what they're
kind of taking from feels like the end of a universe
or the end of a saga not the beginning of it
I think what makes the Dark Knight return that
storyline work where you see Batman and Superman
fighting is that it's a relationship that eventually
got to the point where they're at odds. They
kind of, you know, it grew over time and just
finally hit the breaking point. It reminds me
of something like the Star Trek reboot where
Star Trek in the darkness, they try to recapture
what happened in Star Trek, Wrath of Khan, where,
you know, you have the infamous moment between
Kirk and Spock, but it doesn't have the same
impact in the remake because you don't have that
build up and I feel that's the same thing here
and these are two characters that are going to
be on the screen for the very first time and
they're they're facing off against one another
and I don't know if that's I get like where it's
coming from but I feel like it if the goal here
is to kind of build the DC universe is that the
best place to start maybe it is I just I question
that I to me it just it seems like that's Like
that's always a question looming right in the
background is like what if these two people faced
off like that? It there's always that tension
that it might happen that like okay. This is
where you know This is the argument that does
it but when you meet when you have that argument
already settled at the beginning You kind of
lose that throughout so I don't know. Yeah There
might be a way to spin it. I think like you mentioned
Greg, sorry, you mentioned Chuck. I don't feel
like he gets the character of Superman and just
how brooding he is and what's great about the
Batman Superman Rivalry is that they're so different
and it doesn't feel like they're very different.
Yeah, I know What about their characters is gone
in conflict? You know, this is Superman who's
killed, you know, this is maybe that's the issue
I mean, this is Superman who? Certainly is not
willing to do what it takes and cross that line
and that's just the defining factor of him and
Batman and so I don't know it just it makes me
wonder yeah, even like looking at something detailed
on the trailer where like you see Batman and
his armored suit and Superman's kind of hovering
up in the air a little bit and Batman's like
tell me do you bleed and Superman just kind of
like crashes down onto the roof like slams down
really hard almost as if to intimidate him and
I'm like I really don't think that is something
Superman would do he's gonna try to like discern
what's happening in the situation try to work
it out first he's not just gonna like Try to
intimidate someone like that in my opinion. I
don't know but What did you think of the Batman
suit? I thought it looked really cool even like
the you know, the movements and everything looked
very natural and I mean I Thought it looked good.
It didn't look too bulky Not really so Ben Affleck
looks gigantic the dude is yeah. Yeah Certainly
has the look of Batman. I gotta get it looks
like they're kind of showing him older He's got
a little bit of gray hair in there and stuff
Which is kind of interesting that they're starting
out with him old because it's like Makes me wonder
if they're gonna have like someone else take
over as Batman like they're gonna introduce a
Robin of some sort but One thing at one point.
I forgot to bring up was I know I mentioned about
Where they're coming from with this movie is
to like make make you see a Superman that he
killed Zod in the first one. So He's kind of
living with this guilt. He's living with You
know letting all these buildings collapse and
all these people who obviously had to have died
in this huge catastrophic battle So I see like
that they're trying to do that and they're trying
to say like yeah He's he's going through some
trials and stuff But my my point that I want
to make is the whole point of this character
is that he was found by a family That raised
him a certain way to be better than that It's
kind of like they threw those values totally
out the window of how he was raised. They're
saying he's learning by his battles, yet we're
just going to throw away his whole adolescence
and how he was raised by these people. We're
just going to forget that part of the story.
It's stupid to me. Maybe that's the issue. And
one thing, I mean, say what you will about Smallville
was corny and everything, but something I think
that they did better was they portrayed Clark
Kent's emotional side much better than the Man
of Steel movie. Like even to the fact where like
Jonathan Kent was like when that tornado was
coming by the underpass and Clark wanted to just
kind of zip out and save him and. Jonathan like
held up his hands like no because he didn't want
everyone to see him The clerk from smallville
would have did it anyway Like he would have just
dealt with the consequences after because that's
his father like who wouldn't save their father
from dying like if you have the power to like
You wouldn't just like he's telling me to stay
here. So I'm just gonna stay here. So Yeah, you
put the hand up you have to respect the hand
I mean, let's get a kryptonite bracelet on like
why the hell did he not save him? I don't know.
Spoiler alert for Man of Steel. Yeah, so that's
depressing. Greg, I know you haven't seen the
trailer, but do you have any interest in Batman?
Not really. You got the character Superman, who
I'm not a big fan of, like Dan said. And then
you've got Batman, a character I do enjoy, but
played by an actor who I don't think really can
act, so... It's not my my kind of taste DC is
not doing that great. If you ask me make mine
Marvel Well, well switch gears into a different
a different trailer that drop maybe not as infamous
as that of Batman vs Superman but it does come
from a world where I do have a special place
in my heart for it because one of my favorite
movies of all time is is Jurassic Park and we
are getting a new New drastic world movie this
year and a new trailer did come out giving us
even further information and what it's gonna
be like so Chuck kind of keeping that theme going.
Are you at all? Are you more excited about Jurassic
world? Do you think it's gonna come to the levels
of the original film or do you feel like it's
gonna be a Inadequate sequel like some of the
other ones like lost world or I'm still ranting
over Superman versus bad No You know, I really
did like the Jurassic World trailer a lot. I
think it's obviously going to be hard to get
to the level of the first one. I mean, I don't
think either of the other two movies could. But
this one does seem interesting. They have some
some new concepts, a little bit different take.
You obviously have Chris Pratt, who is a dynamic
addition. Star Lord, man. It seems like it seems
like I'm really going to like his character in
this movie. Like, I just kind of like, just from
the trailer, you kind of not fall in love with,
but you kind of really appreciate what he's doing
in just the trailer in the couple of seconds
that you get to see him. But yeah, it totally
has a man crush. He's a cool guy, you know, the
Prattster. I liked it a lot. Yeah, I'm along
there with I gotta say from the get -go. I was
really hesitant about this movie Just you know
the idea of doing it such a long time after the
original movie You know, it doesn't have Spielberg
attached as director the first trailer. I liked
it I was like, well, it's better than I expected
and I was super worried about the idea of like
genetically altered dinosaurs that they were
talking about but from what I got in the trailer,
I think I'm gonna be okay with it because I think
I Do kind of wish they didn't show that dinosaur
until the very end until we got to the actual
movie I do wish they can held that off because
it was weird where they kind of showed them but
not in like full effect So it was it was like
they were trying to hide him while still showing
him at the same time Which was kind of hiding
him right under our nose Exactly exactly, but
there are a lot of a lot of great money shots
that look money shot Chris Pratt a lot of money
shots That that look look pretty great I think
the idea of actually having the park working
is a good idea. I think it can lend to a lot
of cool things and ups the stakes in a natural
way. The big worry for me is it's just going
to trend a lot of the same ground it's already
been worn. worn down already. I mean, there were
a lot of shots very reminiscent of the first
Jurassic Park, of course. I mean, kind of expect
that to a certain extent. There's only so many
ways a dinosaur can eat someone. On the toilet
being the best. It's hard to top that, let's
be honest. That was probably a high, high moment
of all cinema is when a lawyer got eaten while
on the toilet by a dinosaur. Cannot it can that's
kind of where they should have just stopped making
movies all together, right? It's like alright,
we're done. We've done it all wrap it up guys
wrap it up pack it up early even but I do like
you said Chris Pratt and Jessica Chesky stain
and even brought back the one guy who was in
the original Jurassic Park movie who was a Like
a technician who was in like CSI. I believe we're
law and order one of those guys. Okay He was
the Asian guy. I feel And he looks exactly the
same as he did when the original Jurassic Park
came back, but yeah, I don't know Well, I don't
know if I'll be seeing it in theaters just because
of when it's coming out But that's not because
of the movie that's more but yeah, I am I'm looking
forward to it I keep I'm actually quite excited
for it. I just hope it doesn't I like the one
the one line that Chris Pratt has in the trailer
where You know, they're kind of explaining why
they need why they needed to genetically engineer
a dinosaur because she's saying like, every time
that they've brought out a new gimmick, like
the attendance has spiked and everything like
that. But so she said, you know, they cross all
these dinosaurs and genetically modified one.
And he's like, well, it's like, why do you need
to do that? Dinosaurs aren't wow enough. Like,
yeah, I kind of agree with that. I feel like
they put that in there on purpose because, like,
that's going to be like people's reaction to
it. So they kind of address that up front. Yeah,
it almost feels like more of a dig at like the
concept of today and How we have to up everything
like it almost seems like it's almost like them
saying This is kind of ridiculous. Why are we
doing this? We have something as great as dinosaurs
Why do we got to go beyond that and maybe saying
that's kind of the Hollywood of today we kind
of can't appreciate even like the As something
like as great as dinosaurs we have to make it
something more complicated indeed, that's very
Very cool. All righty. Anything else before we
take a quick break? No, I'm good. Sounds good.
All right. So we're going to take a quick break.
And when we come back, we'll be talking about
a variety of different topics as we debut a new

chances are of that statement becoming true.
So something like, you know, what are the chances
that Greg will hook up with Emilia Clarke zero
percent the chances that What are the chances
that Greg would freak out Emilia Clarke if they
ever met in real life and we would respond? 150
percent because that's a good possibility that
that's gonna happen. So it's the idea of providing
a percentage of To whatever statement that has
been spoken if you are someone who watches different
sports programs You probably see something like
this on PTI or other things like that So kind
of taking that but geek defying it in a fun way.
So we should be interesting. We'll see how it
goes The week that this podcast is released,
Age of Ultron will be debuting, of course, at
least in the U .S. For some reason, the U .K.
gets it before us. I don't know what we did wrong,
but for whatever reason, we tend to get it a
week later. We know that the British are a superior
race because they have Emilia Clarke. Second
reference in the span of five minutes. So I think
isn't she American? I heard something about her
being over in Britain. I'll look it up. I don't
I see I see I seriously don't stalk her but I'll
look it up right now Well, you know, they they
have Charlie Cox too. So that's pretty impressive.
Yeah, that is that is pretty impressive You go
on I'll shout out in the middle of something
you're saying and completely sidetrack everything
But anyways, with the idea that Age of Ultron
will be debuting, London United Kingdom 28, she
is also 5 '2". Thanks Greg, mystery solved. Thank
you internet. My question is, what are the chances
that we get a Spider -Man cameo in either the
Avengers or Ant -Man for this past summer? Knowing
that Spider -Man was recently... acquired again
by Marvel Studios. Greg, what do you think the
chances are that that happens? I've heard a lot
of talk of them saying that Marvel's not going
to have anything whatsoever. They're going to
completely avoid that in the Avengers for now.
Damn it, I have to put a number on this. I'd
say there's a slight chance. I'd say about 25
% at least. So quarter quarter of a chance. It's
better than 12 % of an idea or whatever that
was from Guardians of the Galaxy But there might
be if anything it's gonna be at the end of the
movie with that little post credit scene or whatever
I think I don't think it's gonna be in the main
movie Maybe a little reference in the background
to it, but I don't think it's gonna be anything
too major I think they're gonna drop the big
bomb with the movie itself Plus plus from what
I've heard they haven't even haven't casted Peter
Parker spider -man yet Cool cool, so Chuck do
you agree Greg says 25 % you going higher lower
or about the same? Well first I have to ask you
a question Sure, would it have to be Actual spider
-man appearing or could it be like a reference
to Peter Parker? Maybe in in text or writing
or something like that Since we kind of know
it's not even been cast yet, let's just say a
reference of any sort. If we're saying reference,
I don't know. I like, you know, at first I was
thinking, well, I don't think it's going to be
in the Ant -Man movie. That doesn't make sense
to me. But the more I thought about it, that's
just Marvel's style, like doing it in a movie
that you wouldn't really expect. Like just kind
of bring in the Easter egg in because they're
just trying to like spark interest for like other
things. And tie them in more securely, but you
know, I'm gonna go uh, I'm gonna go 40 percent
Okay Interesting so because you think about it
like we got a doctor strange reference in winter
soldier And I would say I did not expect that
at all. So they are not foreign to dropping in
those different different hints. Yeah, it's kind
of where you least expect it Yeah, so I I'm gonna
go I'm gonna go considering we're thinking each
of Ultron or it man and just the reference I'm
actually gonna go above both of you guys and
say 50 % I think it's a 50 -50 shot that we get
some small tidbit because you think about blast
Avengers movie they almost had They were trying
to get in the image of the Oscorp building to
kind of throw in To the avengers battle, but
they didn't happen in time. So I could see there
being something Maybe if it's like even like
a daily beagle aspect in the background or something
So I could see some sort of spider -man related
Easter egg there in some way, uh, maybe small
Maybe maybe easy to mess especially if it's an
ant -man because you know how tiny those things
can be but uh, I don't know. I think there's
a good possible maybe like You'll see ant -man.
It'll be next to a spider and there'll be some
sort of like you know, reference to Spider -Man
and Radioactive. Yeah, that'd be cool. I think
there's going to have a little bit of something,
maybe. We'll see. We'll see for sure. So to go
into a different realm altogether kind of going
into the realm of sports. I don't know if you
guys saw the news I'm sure if you watch ESPN
you heard about it because it's if they're probably
having a small party hearing this and that's
that team Tim Tebow is coming back to the NFL
because he was recently signed by the Philadelphia
Eagles So my question is What are the chances
that Tim Tebow becomes a starter quarterback
for the Philadelphia Eagles sometime in the upcoming
season? Chuck, I'll start with you for this one
since we ended with you last time. Wow. Starting
quarterback? At some time. Not beginning, just
at some time during the season that he becomes
a starting quarterback. Oh, boy. I'm going to
say 5%. saying there's a chance you know I really
I really hate that the flack that this guy's
getting like he really doesn't deserve it the
only reason people are annoyed by him is because
the media and especially ESPN just talks about
him non -stop and for whatever reason they have
a love affair with him and LeBron James and Johnny
Menzel but if it wasn't for that I mean he's
a good guy regular guy like Stop hating on them.
It's it's ESPN's fault. Let's hate on them. So
but um Yeah, the eagles currently have uh, five
quarterbacks on the roster Doesn't I know they
have mark renell not mark renell, but uh mark
sanchez. Yeah sanchez and uh sam brafford and
now tim tebow. Yeah, they also have uh barkley
from the guy from usc And uh, there's another
guy too. I can't remember right now, but um There's
also talk that they're going to possibly draft
Mariotta. I don't know if that's true, but right
now, the roster size for the NFL teams is so
huge that they're at about 90 players right now.
So the odds that Thibault is even going to make
the team are pretty low. And then to be the starting
quarterback, I'm going to say about 5%. Greg,
do you have any idea? Do you care? 0%. Yeah See
I could see Chip Kelly just being that type of
guy who wants to just prove that he can make
his system work for anyone Where he's like, you
know what? I can even take this guy who was out
of the NFL and Make him work within my system.
I could see is that arrogant? NFL coaches tend
to be Well, I'm thinking about the number of
coaches that like, you know, we'll pick up players
that have long overstayed their welcome or you
know have had so many problems, you know, and
they think I mean have you seen Bill Belichick?
Yeah Yeah, so I could see that happening like
you make a good point Chuck that there's a lot
of talent in front of him Though a lot of the
talent tends to get injured a lot, you know,
Sanchez gets hurt a lot You know Sam Bradford
gets hurt a lot Barkley. I mean he got hurt last
year too. So I do think he gets more flack than
he deserves, for sure. I don't think he's an
NFL -ready quarterback, but I would say that
it's about a 10 % chance, mostly because of the
fact that the people in front of him have a tendency
to not make it through 16 games. So we'll see.
See, I also don't think he's as terrible as everyone
says, because I've watched the guy, and trust
me, I've seen a lot worse quarterbacks. He's
a great running back, Chuck. He's a great running
back. Yeah, but I mean he led the Broncos to
a playoff win when he was with them I mean events,
you don't you don't get that way being a terrible
quarterback. He does have some talent I've seen
much much worse quarterbacks in the league And
yeah, they're called who was quarterbacking the
judge right now and she knows Smith Smith or
you know, yeah, I feel like his accuracy is always
really It's always a question in my book, but
we'll see how it goes. We're for sure So we're
kind of jumping around a great deal, but it's
what's fun of it Well, you know what since we're
in we're talking about football and the draft
is actually coming up this week as well It's
kind of crazy, you know Avengers and the draft
are debuting in the same day So we talked about
the Jets and my question is What are the chances
the New York Jets draft a fictional character
in the upcoming NFL draft? Should I go first?
Go ahead. I guess there's got to be at least
one percent chance. Now, that being said, I think
if Rex Ryan was still there, there would be a
much higher percent chance because he would he
would draft someone that has nice feet or something
like maybe Shane Flacco from from from maybe
he would maybe he would draft Beast because he's
got those nice big feet. Kind of check out but
yeah freck trying with there was there I'd go
at least 50 % but right now I'll go the one Greg
any idea yeah, I'd give it higher freck shrine
was there as well. I'll also go with 1 % Well,
you know I could see them trying to draft air
but the golden receiver so I mean he He can he
can rack up the yak. That's for sure. But well,
you know what? The sad thing is them drafting
a fictional character would not be the worst
thing they drafted in years Can't hurt them but
no He would probably just help their cell fictional
character can't do a butt fumble Speaking of
the NFL did you guys see that? I don't know if
you noticed this but the the schedule was released
and of course there was a hour -long special
on ESPN just to talk about the schedule, which
is hilarious because that's the Giants are playing
both the Dolphins and the ice The Vikings will
lose every single game. I smell a small little
little food bit coming on I think so. Week four,
they're playing the Dolphins, I think in the
Greek 15 or four. It's later in the season they
play the Vikings. Should be interesting. So we've
got a halfway decent chance since the Giants
always seem to do a little worse as the season
goes on. Yeah. No denying, Dan. I'd say that's
not true. That's not false. That's not false.
So moving into a more real life question. Oh,
not really. But so coming up this summer, we're
going to have a debut of a new TV show and on
AMC called Fear of the Walking Dead, the infamous
spin off that they've been talking about for
some time now. So my question is, what are the
chances that the upcoming spin off Fear of the
Walking Dead will be as good as the original
series? Greg, what is it going to be the same?
uh creative staff as the walking dead i think
they had an input in it i don't think it's not
based upon the robert kirkman comic book but
i do think he did assist with story i think i
think quite a few of them are involved from what
i read like there's there's four of the four
or five of the same creative team that are going
to be still involved oh cool so um i i give that
pretty pretty good chances i'll give it um a
75 chance If they have the same writing staff
and everything, and if they get characters as
good as the original series, I think that should
go quite well for them. Interesting. Chuck, do
you agree? I'm hesitant to go that high just
because it's such a rare mixture of excellent
acting and good storytelling and writing and
everything that's going on right now with the
original series. it's really gonna be hard to
duplicate even with the same creative team. I
will give them at least 50%, I think. Interesting,
yeah. Oddly, I'm gonna probably fall kind of
in the middle of you two. My worry is it's not
based upon anything, and I feel like any time
you try to do this and try to create something
from nothing, in a world that was based on like
a known property. It doesn't work really well,
but we have seen spinoffs work. Better Call Saul,
the spinoff of Breaking Bad was quite good recently.
No Flash has proven to be quite good, though
the Flash is based upon its own comic. But for
one, I don't like the title. I don't know. If
you're The Walking Dead, it just sounds like
it's going to be confusing. Like you think you'd
want to try to separate it a little bit, you
know, but maybe just trying to cash in on that
name. And it did take two seasons for The Walking
Dead, I think, to get its footing, maybe three.
They really kind of get to being a really good
show. I think it took some time to get there.
So I don't know. The Walking Dead also has a
very successful show where all they do is just
talk about the show. So I think that's a big
boom for it as well. That's a good point. Thank
you. Yeah, that's very true. Maybe that makes
sense. That's why they kept the title. So does
that mean they're going to have like Fear the
Talking Dead? Is that going to happen starring
Chris Otter? They talked about that on his, uh,
his Nerdist podcast, the one of the ones I recently
listened to and he said he would do it. He enjoys
doing the talking dead. And so if he gets paid
for doing that, it's another job. So Chris Hardwick
will take it. He loves to work that man. I give
that, um, uh, 35 % chance of coming through.
So I would go in between. You got, you said 75
and Chuck, you said 50. So I'd probably go like
65 percent. I think they're you know it knowing
that some of the original some of the writers
are carrying over but I don't know it just seems
to me it's just I worry some though. I guess
it's a good sign that amc has already like Greenlit
the second season already. So maybe they just
have faith in it. So we know So looking into
the future even further not this summer, but
next year we have the return of the Teenage Mutant
Ninja Turtles. I know none of us were big fans
of the film that came out last year. Is that
right? It was awful. Yeah, it was pretty bad.
Yeah, yeah. So we do know, we talked about a
few weeks ago that Casey Jones will be Stephen
Amell. Rumor is that also Bebop and Rocksteady
will be debuting. They're going to be showing
up. I don't know how you guys feel about that.
Yeah, they're going to kill those characters
too. So considering they have those characters
they have Casey Jones they have the opportunity
to run basically the entire cartoon and one movie
What are the chances that the new Teenage Mutant
Ninja Turtle movie brings upon us the Armageddon?
100 % but only in my brain Because I will be
raging. Yeah, I'm not looking forward to that
at all I did not care for their latest try at
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I don't know
I feel like they're gonna ruin those characters
as well It'll be interesting to see at least
how they portray the characters, how the animation's
going to look for them, because I'm assuming
they're going to be completely CGI. I would guess
so. Yeah. What was the quote? What am I presenting
again here? What are the chances it brings upon
the Armageddon? I'm not sure about Armageddon,
but if I was going to say how much rage is it
going to bring out of fandom, I give it at least
a 60%. Chuck, what do you think? I agree. I think
it's going to be, it's going to be right up there
for sure. I mean, I like the fact that Steve,
even Amel is attached, but I feel like it's kind
of a drop in the pond, so to speak. Like, I don't
know how much influence he's going to have on
that. I don't know if they're going to work him
into a relationship with like April O 'Neill.
I hope he has his shots, but. I'm gonna go with
I'm gonna go with 75 % Yeah, I'm gonna go I'm
gonna go 75 % as well There's one chance that
it won't happen and maybe that's if it doesn't
get released. So that's the possibility It just
it was funny because I saw news about the Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtle Stuff and then underneath
it I saw information about the volcano in Chile
that happened. I'm like, I wonder if one caused
the other That's on that's why it had me thinking
but I don't do you guys see that at all the volcano
eruption in Chile that happens Yeah, I did see
there's some crazy pictures with that with the
lightning and stuff. Yeah, it's insane because
it's so close to a city and everything so I'm
like I Feel like it's like Dante's peak happening
all over again They also gonna have to go through
an ass acid -filled lake yeah yeah that was the
scariest part of that movie for me it was that
acid -filled lake yes the the acid that ate through
the boat but not the oars yes the key the key
to that so uh man classic don't forget the indestructible
tires on that truck when they were driving through
the lava yeah yeah or the the fact that uh You
had the volcano also come out that year, where
Tommy Lee Jones outran an explosion. He's more
limber than you would believe. I guess. So also
talking about failures, we talked about Marvel
a little bit, we talked about Ant -Man already,
but you know, we saw the trailer and I think
the new one, I think we all kind of thought it
does look like it's getting better. But it doesn't
seem like it's having near the excitement of
any of the other Marvel films, even Guardians
of the Galaxy. So my question is, what are the
chances that Ant -Man is Marvel's first failure?
And by that, I mean the fact that it would be
the first film that Marvel fans are disappointed
with. I think it's going to be better than Superman
versus Batman, that's for sure. That was a lot
of lead up for nothing. It's iffy. I have seen
the trailer for it. It was alright. It wasn't
spectacular. It doesn't even... The trailer isn't
even really interesting, I don't think. At least
the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer leading up
to it, we were still iffy on it. But at least
it was intriguing at least. I don't even find
the trailer for Ant -Man really to be intriguing.
I'm gonna give it a high percent, I think it
is, for how you posed the question. Yeah, so
what are the chances it will be a failure? So
it would be, if you think it's gonna be disappointing,
that'd be a high percent. So yeah, I'd give it
about a 60 % chance. Marvel's been good, though.
They've really pulled stuff out of their ass
where I'm like, ah, this isn't gonna be that
great, or it's gonna be lackluster, and they've
really pulled it out of their ass. I guess Marvel
is just gonna have to prove themselves once again,
even though they've kind of secured their place
in moviedom. I still think they're gonna have
to prove themselves with this. Everybody has
a flop every once in a while. It happens. People
gotta take that blue pill, you know what I mean?
Chuck, what do you think? I'm actually gonna
go much lower. I don't think it's gonna be a
disappointment. I think it looks... I think it
looks really interesting as far as I'm concerned
but the thing that intrigues me is that I read
recently that I know Edgar Wright is no longer
attached to the movie but he wrote the first
script for it and Joss Whedon read it and said
that it was the best Marvel script that he had
ever read for any of the movies and he thought
it was going to be amazing and for the most part
they said they have kept all of the major things
that was in the script that he wrote. They only
sort of changed it a little bit. So I mean, Josh
Whedon likes it. I mean, he says he's admitting
it's better than his movie. I mean, that's that's
kind of enough for me. I think it's going to
be better than a lot of people are thinking.
I'm going to go with like a twenty five percent
chance that it will flop. I think it'll don't
get me wrong. I think it'll do good in theaters
like it'll make a lot of money, but I don't think
it's going to be a good movie. Yeah, I shouldn't.
I guess I shouldn't say flop. I should say like
a disappointment to the fans. Yeah, I got to
say the first trailer after the first trailer,
if you asked me this question, I think the percentage
should probably be like 75 percent that it's
going to be a disappointment and not live up
to the potential of the other films. After the
second trailer, though, I think that's dropped.
I think there's a better chance it's successful
than non -successful or it's better chance that
it's going to be. Uh a good film than bad film.
So i'd say i'm gonna lean right now. It's 60
40. It's a flop or 40. It's a disappointment
I do worry because you know, I like the trailer,
but it wasn't fantastic Like I mentioned, I don't
like to look at yellow jacket and the fact that
there was a lot of you know a lot of shifting
apart for that movie directors writers it kept
changing a lot to like the very last moment which
tends to Not be a good thing in some ways. So
it does have me worried a little bit But I mean
I do Guess they do trust Marvel. I do feel like
they they have their formula, you know You may
hate it, but I think their formula is good in
the fact that they can Kind of stick it in anywhere
and it will work I'm thinking it might be along
along the same lines as like the first Thor Which
is the movie I liked but it wasn't you know,
amazing it kind of I think it's gonna be a huge
step down compared to everything we got before
like it's probably gonna suffer by comparison
because we're gonna you know, It's coming after
the Avengers Guardians of the Galaxy Winter Soldier
like Marvel's on this ultimate high right now
and I think it might dip a little bit but still
be good, you know what I mean? It's like Cold
pizza the next day not as good as you had it,
but you know, there's there's still got some
charm to it. You know Good reference So uh also
kind of staying in the marble realm I don't know
if you guys saw that daredevil has been renewed
for a second season. I have seen that But there
is some bad news and the fact that that is the
show runner that they had Will be leaving and
they'll be getting something else mostly due
to like a scheduling complex or things of that
nature. So And I think last week when we reviewed
the show Chuck you mentioned how it may not be
as good because of Our expectations are higher
and now knowing there's a new showrunner. What
are the chances that Daredevil season 2? Lives
up to the hype of the first season Chuck you
want to start it with this one. Oh Interesting
question. I think you read it. I did say that
last week about the About sort of the shock value
being gone once now that we've seen the first
the first season We sort of know what to expect.
I don't think our minds can be blown much more.
I think I think I'll go with I think it's got
about a 30 % chance of living up to the first
season If I were to ask you what do you think
it's going to be not good or just not as good?
I think just not as good. I still think it'll
be really good. But one important thing that
a lot of people liked about it is like how grounded
it is. And with some of the Easter eggs that
you're showing towards the end, I feel like they're
going to start to get away from that a little
bit. I could be wrong, but I think maybe it'll
lose that sort of appeal to maybe the older audience
and stuff like that that likes it for how grounded
and realistic it is. Don't I still think it'll
be really good and I'm really looking forward
to but I just don't think it'll be Amazing like
the first one Greg, what do you think? Uh, I'm
on the fence. I'm not quite sure yet. I just
heard it from you Sorry to drop that I'm gonna
be thinking about this for days Dan. I'm not
gonna be able to sleep tonight You just ruined
everything I was very happy with the first season.
I didn't know where that was going to go when
we were coming into it with this, just everything
new. Now we've got creative people coming in
that we don't know how their take is going to
be on this. So I'm on the fence. I'm going to
go with 50%. Good, good percentage. And I think
I actually, Chuck, I might match you at 30%.
The reason being, I think it might be good, but
I think the expectations is huge and it's always
tough. to repeat yourself when the expectations
are super high. And I think we're kind of seeing
that with Arrow season three, what happened with
them and how they're not nearly able to reach
the heights of the second season. And I think,
too, like you mentioned, with it getting more
into the comic book -ness of the character, I
think that's going to be a little bit harder
to pull off, considering the budget -wise, right?
And some of that might require a little bit more
special effects, per se, or a little bit more
No grander scale when it comes to some of the
action set pieces and stuff like that. So If
I look back at Daredevil season 2, I still think
the best sequence happens sequence happened in
episode 2 So is it ever gonna get to that height
again? I don't know. I'm not sure so and Considering
we're gonna be going through four other series
by then Who knows where daredevil is gonna be
and I wasn't the biggest fan of the look of daredevil
in the last episode So I don't know my worry
is it won't reach that height again. I think
it'll be good I'll enjoy it, but it I don't know
it won't have that feeling I got from the first
season so I Will go with 30 % chance that it
lives up to that height Alright, so we touched
upon sports. Let's go back to sports just for
a little bit it's kind of fun to kind of go a
variety different directions and touching upon
That's a bad way to say this but touching upon
one of Greg's favorite players and that's Adrian
Peterson and maybe not as much anymore, but Adrian
Peterson has been reinstated with the NFL and
we do know there's some tension between him and
his current team but There is a possibility that
he might be playing for another team in those
most notably the Dallas Cowboys I don't know
if you guys saw but literally the day Adrian
Peterson was reinstated the Cowboys main website
the actual Dallas Cowboys website Posted an article
of why they think having Dallas having Adrian
Peterson would make them a contender for the
Super Bowl So I don't know why the Dallas Cowboys
website would post that but I guess they Decided
it would be get a no one to hold them their cowboys
no wind You know, Darren McFadden must feel great
about that. So my question is, what are the chances
Adrian Peterson suits up as a Dallas Cowboy for
this upcoming season? Greg, let's start with
you since you are a Vikings fan. Well, he's definitely
not going to stay with the Vikings, that's for
sure. The thing that kind of steers me away is
them picking up, I believe it was Darren McFadden.
So I find it weird that they would do that and
pick up Adrian Peterson. But I guess McFadden
would be their third down back or something like
that. And I feel like a lot of other people will
be after him. By the way, I'm not the biggest
fan. I used to think he was a great guy, level
headed and not one of those rage players, but
back on point. Yeah, I think it's a good percentage.
I think Jerry Jones has been kind of eyeing up
Adrian Peterson from toes to top. Like that one,
I just came up with that one on the fly. I was
thinking about the first season of the league
where Nick Kroll's character was talking about
his calves. There's a good percentage he's going
to go there because that's all anybody's talking
about is Cowboys and Adrian Peterson. Cowboys
and Adrian Peterson. I've also heard of him going
to Jaguars, Buccaneers, the Raiders. I don't
think AP will have any interest in those. I think
he's looking for a ring. So I'm going to say
the chances are pretty high. I'll put it at 70%.
Chuck? I'm also going to be high too. I think
think the main thing that Everyone's sort of
looking at too is like how great the Cowboys
offensive line was last year Then I think a lot
of people Attributed to Marco Murray's success
more to that offensive line than to him So if
you put if you put in there arguably the best
running back in the NFL with the best offensive
line in the NFL you have a really scary ass uh
proposition agreed so i think that's what kind
of everyone's looking at and that's like wow
they're gonna have this unstoppable running game
and they have a really great wide receiver already
so looking at a powerhouse offense but if i can
add chuck if with adrian pearson behind a line
of that strength because the vikings weren't
that great but still they would open up holes
and when you open up a hole for that guy He just
freaking hammers his way through it. That sounds
like a sex joke. I'm sorry. It was not meant
to be that way. I'm calling it out right now,
though. Sorry, Chuck. It's all right. I didn't
really think of it as a sex joke, so it's OK.
Nor my mind. Think it'd be funny if like he actually
was worse with that good offensive line cuz like,
you know He gets the hand off and he's like,
whoa, what the hell is this big hole? Like Panics
just goes the other way holding who's holding?
But yeah, I'm gonna put it high too. I think
that's the most likely spot that he'll land I'm
gonna go I'm gonna go 65 % to the Cowboys. Yeah,
the biggest issue with it is his contract is
so he's due a lot of money I believe and it's
gonna be a tough contract for anyone to kind
of take on. I mean Jerry Jones is the one person
who would probably do that just because he loves
to make splashes you know he loves big names
he loves to kind of take those people that a
lot of other people can't stand or give a gift
and up on something like a Deon Sanders and you
know you make him into a star again or what have
you. He wanted Johnny Manziel they literally
had to rip the ticket out of his hand. The time
in a chair it's like no tell me no different
day So send some young girls to his office it's
have him take some more photos that are awkwardly
with it. I don't know what You didn't see the
photos of Jerry Jones awkwardly with like younger
girls. It was like with yeah, it's really weird
slightly jealous You know what was more awkward
though, was the footage of him high -fiving and
jumping up and down with Governor Christie from
New Jersey. That was even more awkward. Considering,
you know, he's in Jersey and should be a Giants
fan, but you know, whatever. I'm gonna go 60%.
The reason being, I'm not going any higher just
because it's a large contract they have to take
on, so I could see that being hesitant. So I
would say there's honestly maybe a better chance
that he plays for the Cowboys than anybody else,
because I could see him just sitting out and
not playing until he gets traded, but we'll see.
For sure. A lot of sports talk tonight, you know,
I'm hoping a lot of the geeks to stop listening
because of that I Don't know if you guys saw
but they did release some images of the new Star
Wars Battlefront that's coming out I believe
I've watched a trailer that was on YouTube and
if that was the actual gameplay I was seeing
it looks fucking awesome But I heard there's
a lot of stuff that they promised but they're
not coming out with in that game That doesn't
sound like a video game at all. So my question
is, knowing that there's a new Star Wars Battlefront
coming out, the graphics look great, but it does
seem like they're changing some things where
it's going to be more of just a regular first
-person shooter. What are the chances it captures
the magic that many of us have participated in
with the old Star Wars Battlefront games? And
Greg, since you saw some of the videos and whatnot,
I'll start with you on this one. Like I said,
it looks amazing if that's the actual gameplay
footage. I hate it when they have these trailers
and it's all the cinematics throughout the game
that they stitch together for a commercial. I
feel like that's a giant cheat to get more people
to buy their product. I forget exactly how you
phrase the question, so I can't really give a
percentage. What are the changes? It captures
the magic of the other stuff. well i think yeah
i feel like that even if they just keep the gameplay
like the controls the same way i think it's gonna
do a lot for it and keep the same basic setup
i think it would go a long way for it but they
usually change that stuff up so i think the graphics
are gonna push it beyond the normal game, so
I'm gonna go with like a 60%, being a little
bit optimistic there, I think, but not by much,
so. Chuck, what do you think? Or have you not
seen anything about it? I have not seen anything
about it, but to me, it sort of all hinges on
one thing for me, and that's if you can play
as different Jedi's. Because that's something
I something I loved about, especially Battlefront
2, I was a huge fan of that game. And I know
we've we've spent we've spent some much cherished
hours playing that game together. That's a lot
of fun. Yes, it is. But I love I love the fact
that you could go on different planets and plays
a different Jedi on each planet, because that's
sort of the planet they were associated with
in the movie and stuff. I just love that aspect
of it. And something else I loved about it was
that it was sort of like two games in one, because
you would have they would show the galaxy and
it was almost sort of like a chess match of where
you were moving and what planets you were conquering.
But then you would go into the battle and actually
play the battle as well. It always intrigued
me about that game. So if they're keeping a similar
setup to that, then I definitely think it's going
to rock. So I kind of. I kind of have to reserve
until I know more about it. But just for now,
I'll give it a 50 % that it'll capture the same
magic. The first images I saw of it, I'm like,
wow, that looks amazing. But the more I'm hearing
about it, the more I'm like, I don't know. It
seems like from what I'm seeing, they're not
going to be any space battles like there were
in the other games. I hated the space battles,
though. I was going to say that I wasn't a big
fan of the space battles. So maybe that's the
good thing. But it also seems like it's going
to be Maybe not have the abilities that you did
where you could just kind of free roam and jump
into vehicles and it seems like that's like where
the kind of like the the format of What is that
called battlefield when it was like that the
actual battlefield? Like that having that type
of format where you can just kind of do whatever
and be whatever characters from what i'm reading
that may not be the actual case for the game
so because of that i think it's almost going
to be battlefront in name only so i'm going to
say 30 chance it's going to be to capture that
magic and by that i mean like have that like
almost that free -flowing fun of the old games
maybe it will be its own thing but i don't think
it's going to be anything like the old battlefront
games All right. So I think we have one more
for today. And Chuck, since you just might actually
work out pretty well, because I know you said
you had one that was Star Wars related. So I'll
toss it over to you. OK. I wanted to talk about
something that we sort of found out about recently.
And I guess kind of a teaser trailer leaked online.
And that was for one of the new Star Wars movies.
They're doing a separate set of movies called
Star Wars anthology and the first one's gonna
be called Star Wars Rogue one Did you guys get
a chance to see the trailer that leaked? I did
not I didn't know about that And I I didn't know
about these so recently either but these are
these movies are You know they exist within the
Star Wars universe But they're not necessarily
tied to a specific trilogy so there's sort of
Maybe filling in gaps between trilogies or between
movies or something like that We've found out
that they're not really gonna star any Jedi's
or anything like that but the the basic plot
all they sort of have for the first one Star
Wars Rogue one is that It's set sort of when
the Empire was in power It says rebels set out
on a mission to steal the plans for the Death
Star and this is set to come out I believe December
of 2016 So one year from when the force awakens
come out. Now, the teaser trailer sort of showed
a Thai fighter kind of flying through this lush
vegetation on this jungle looking planet sort
of thing. And like off in the distance, you sort
of see something like kind of looks like a cloud.
And then you start seeing it's like curved more
and you're thinking, OK, well, maybe it's like
the planet's moon. That's kind of like right
on the horizon there. But as they get closer
to it. The thing is huge, it's gargantuan, and
you actually see that it's the Death Star. And
it's just off the surface of this planet. And
the thing is just massive, it looks so cool.
And they sort of have the original Obi -Wan Kenobi
with the voiceover explaining about how the Jedi
have always protected the galaxy and stuff like
that from forces of evil. So my question is...
What are the chances that these Star Wars anthology
movies are going to be as big of a success? with
the fans as the actual trilogy movies Wow, that's
that's an interesting question as big as a success
huh with the fans it's I would say it's a good
percentage because it's maybe tying into a lot
of the those stories that they people have talked
about or, you know, imagined for such a long
time. Specifically the fans, I would say there's
a bigger percentage there than with the general
public. Like, I don't think financially they're
going to be as big considering there won't be
Skywalkers or won't be Jedi. So, but with fans,
maybe they'll take more ownership because they'd
feel like they're made more for them. So I'm
going to, I'm going to go high and say good,
like 90 % chance that these will be just as successful
just because it's something in the Star Wars
universe and something completely different than
I think people might find refreshing. Yeah, and
I will add that so far George Lucas is listed
as on board as a writer. Oh, never mind 14 %
Craig what say you Well, he's not gonna direct
I don't know I feel like they they'd have Lucas
right a little bit and then they'd go get a couple
other people to go over it If you remember, he
wasn't all him on the original trilogy. He had
people looking over his shoulder telling him
whether it's going to be right. But for the prequels,
he just was kind of madman, god, what he says
goes, and that's it. But I think it's going to
be pretty great. If he has a little bit of somebody
over his shoulder looking at his stuff, I think
that's when George Lucas really comes through.
So I'll say it does a pretty good job, but I
do think the drop in. Jedi and that kind of stuff
will be interesting, but it the concept sounds
interesting It sounds kind of like a spy movie
in space which kind of intrigues me a lot I mean,
it doesn't sound like it's gonna be like a moonraker
anything like that I've never actually seen that
specific James Bond movie. It's awful. It's one
of the worst ones I'll give it like a 70 % Being
optimistic once again Yeah, one thing I will
say this is just sort of a personal take that
I've Taken I mean they said there won't be any
Jedi, but they didn't see anything about the
Sith Yeah, so to me Darth Vader's got to show
up in there somewhere. I would hope anyway Maybe
maybe I'm wrong, but they to me you would get
it. You got to have Vader in there somewhere
but I think you know if they're gonna have an
absence of even like han solo and luke and yeah
i mean that's gonna be hard and stuff like that
i'm gonna go i'm gonna go about uh 70 as well
but just because i think the you know everyone
just goes so crazy over star wars stuff and the
fact that it's another actual star wars movie
it's not like an animated it's not a cartoon
like i still think the fans are gonna be pretty
happy with it and dan maybe you've heard of this
guy i'm not up on my directors like you are but
uh the director attached to this is gareth edwards
yeah he's a guy who did godzilla oh okay he did
godzilla and he did uh monsters so yeah so so
that means that Probably won't see much screen
time of the actual Death Star We'll see it on
the news when we're One of those, you know, one
of the huts you'll see the news of the Death
Star in the background, but that's about it That's
it there's an image as you go to sleep tonight
just think of the think of the huts watching
TV The Death Star is messing with reception again
Alrighty, so that's it for what are the chances
and I like to hear what people have to think
of it and if you aren't wondering what the percentages
mean and ultimately they mean nothing kind of
like the points and whose line is it anyway so
but everything's made up and but the news stories
are real so I guess I don't know but before we
go and end this episode we like to end each episode
with a letter and tonight I have a letter and
you'll never guess what my letter is about especially
reason number seven because it's a doozy and
and that's reference to what I'm actually talking
about today and that is all those websites that
feel the need to editorialize headlines and topics
just to create classic clickbait making something
otherwise trivial sound amazing the key to this
process is twofold first we are promised something
we would never know or believe. No matter how
trivial, no matter how moronic, no matter how
much it doesn't even relate to something you
care about, they underestimate your intelligence
and assume you will never believe what they have
to tell you. For example, you'll never be able
to believe all the different ways you can make
a grilled cheese sandwich. You'll never be able
to believe all the different ways you can boil
water. All these moronic different intakes that
they have that mean absolutely nothing and for
some reason yet we still click on them. The next
step of this phrase is to insert words like epic
or extreme takedown that jazz things up for no
apparent reason whatsoever. Something like, you
won't believe this random celebrity that had
this epic takedown of today's hot topic or news
item. Websites have become nothing but fluff
stories that have little content, but they get
away with it because they have this infamous
gimmick that leads to the clicks. The clicks
are where the cash is coming from. Mean and the
thing is these websites are good at it as well
Look how look at the empire that BuzzFeed has
created making moronic lists about nothing Do
you remember these classic lists and these are
real lists from BuzzFeed? 14 hedgehogs with things
that look like hedgehogs 18 photos of Albert
Einstein being super chill Or this may be the
best thing ever For some reason a list of 35
people who just realized that Seth MacFarlane
is actually hot I don't understand that. What
is like What why would that ever need to be created
even Seth MacFarlane probably like that? It's
got to be the dumbest thing in the history of
the world. So why is this an issue? Why does
who really cares about this? You don't really
necessarily have to click on it Good point. The
thing is, quality content is becoming an endangered
species. Instead of getting attention because
what you're doing is important to know you're
something interesting to say, websites are becoming
popular and being nothing more than glorified
bumper sticker factories with these statements
that are eye -catching but mean nothing. So next
time you see a link to click on the 12 epic tape
downs that you never expect. Stop. Wait a minute.
Don't click on that link. Don't forward that
message or retweet that tweet. Save it for something
that really matters, like going to geekcastradio
.com and reading my list of the 50 best Marvel
movie moments, because you'll never guess what's
the number one. I promise you it's an epic time.
Definitely agree with that, Dan. Yeah, I just
it's just an epidemic it's just it's all you
know, it's sad is when a website as big as yahoo
does it Like so like they are one of the worst
like I hate going to Yahoo I changed it away
from my my home page because I just get so sick
of like Clicking on these stories and it was
like the dumbest thing ever totally misleading
headline Now that we literally have changed the
meaning of literally to mean, you know with emphasis
We're doing the same thing with incredible. You'll
never believe you know Epic these all these words
are becoming meaningless Pretty much but But
if you want to click on our links you can do
so by going to keep gas radio .com You can also
send us emails by sending them to feedback at
key cast radio .com or talking in circles at
live .com Or on Facebook and Twitter just search
talking in circles to see your end and you guys
are also on Twitter What are your Twitter names?
