About this Episode

Dan, Greg, and Chuck finish building their ultimate TV networks by programming Wednesday through Friday. They complete their lineups with shows spanning comedy, sci-fi, fantasy, crime drama, and classics—picking from everything from Firefly and Game of Thrones to The Wire, Saturday Night Live, and Star Trek: The Next Generation. The hosts debate their choices, steal each other's picks, and settle on network names for their creations.

Hey, this is Steve Blum, and you are listening

to the Geekcast Radio Network. All right, I am

back with an exclusive with Ryan Reynolds live

on the set of his new movie, Deadpool, due out

next year. How you doing, Ryan? Pretty good,

Mario. Thanks for having me. Oh, thanks for taking

the time, man. So how does it feel, first of

all, to be back in Vancouver, your hometown?

It's like a homecoming, huh? Yeah, it is, actually.

I felt pretty lucky that we got to shoot here.

It wasn't any of my doing, but... It's nice to

be around. My brothers are around. They're huge

Deadpool fans. It's a nice little homecoming

for sure. Cool, well let's talk about Deadpool.

I'm vaguely familiar because of course he was

in Wolverine. Yeah, Wolverine, he was in Wolverine,

but that's not the character we're putting on

screen right now. Yeah, Deadpool is definitely

a wisecracker, but I think the most distinct

feature he has is he's a guy that's morally flexible

and has a motor mouth. He doesn't care if people

love him or hate him. And I heard the movie studio

just announced that they're aiming for a PG -13

rating? Yeah, we're working to... I mean, yeah,

we're gonna keep the spirit of the comic book

alive, though. I think it's smart, man, that

you guys keep it, uh, family -friendly, because...

Yeah, I don't know if I'd go, you know, so far

as to say it's, you know, family -friendly, but...

Bottom line, Ryan, there may be a billion reasons

to make a family -friendly movie, as in sequels

and toys and... And listen, Ryan, if you... Fuck

you, Slater. April Fool's Deadpool will, of course,

be rated R. It's okay, Jesse. Slater can't hurt

you anymore. You are now on the inside of what

I like to call the circle of trust. We are all

connected in a great circle of life. You know

something Bert? What? I think you and I are going

in circles. It feels like we're going in circles.

The circle is now complete. When I left you,

I was but the third. Now I am the last. Because

it's a circle. Yeah, we heard about the circle.

Yeah, that's what the million would change. Hi,

this is Chuck. This is Greg. And this is Dan,

and we are Talking in Circles brought to you

by the GeekCast Radio Network, the podcast that

is back for revenge. I say that because on this

week's episode, we are continuing The attempt

to create the ultimate TV network. Last week

we started it. We picked our first two days.

A lot of controversy. We picked a lot of the

same shows. A bit of rivalries were made. Now,

now it's time to finish it as we finish our complete

lineups. But there can only be one Highlander.

There could and that could also be a choice because

there was a TV show series called Highlander.

In that show no one is no one is maybe the theme

song pick the theme song Crossing it out now

But before we get to that how's some things been

going for you guys pretty boring, I guess Not

a whole lot going on Really really liking the

nicer weather though. That's for sure. Oh my

god. It's so nice Finally getting a break from

the freezing ass cold temperatures that were

this winter The only weird thing is like when

you leave in the morning and you kind of need

a jacket and then out in the afternoon It's like

so warm out. You're like, why did I bring a jacket?

Yeah, and I feel like pennsylvania is I mean,

there's a handful of other places but it's one

of the few places on earth where You know you

you drive to work in the morning with your heat

on and you come home in the afternoon with your

ac on So it's just it's just one of those crazy

things how's things going with you greg? Alright,

I guess nothing really special going on you guys

Sadness Well, one thing that is kind of special

by the time this comes out little little secret

here We're kind of we're kind of doubling up

this week. So you for you guys. It's been a week

for us It's been a few moments from last episode

time travel. It's where it works What we record

podcasts in the TARDIS exactly But news dropped

well little April Fools joke that kind of went

on where there is rumors that Deadpool would

be rated PG -13 but there was a reveal that that

was not the case and you know We finally got

to see Slater get taken down like he rightfully

deserved You guys get a chance to check out that

video. Hell. Yeah, that was hilarious So, I mean

I gotta ask you Greg because you're such a you

know, you're a Deadpool fan What did you think

of Ryan Reynolds in the actual suit? It was way

better than Wolverine Horses and I am glad they

took a swing at it in that video. I thought it

was really great and I Guess we can reveal the

whole thing. I guess because it has been about

two weeks since we've seen it But when he hits

him with whatever, when Deadpool hits Slater

with whatever he hits him with, it was a very

violent swing. It's like a TV. Wasn't it a big

TV? I don't know what it was. It was like some

massive electronics, but it was a violent swing.

It was it was one of the pouches on his old suit

from the 90s. One of his old guns. But yeah,

the costume looked. Really great like it But

the one thing is it looked like CGI like it was

it was crazy, but it was definitely real It was

the weirdest thing like but it looked so good

It was better than I expected for the suit and

everything. So that's that's awesome Yeah, at

first I thought the April Fool's joke was Ryan

Reynolds new haircut, but But yeah, it looks

great. I mean, I'm glad it's rated R. I mean,

we talked about that a few episodes ago that

it probably needs to be rated R and glad that

it is. So it seems like they're doing everything

right. And when I first started watching it,

it was, you know, like Mario Lopez threw out

the like that comment about, yeah, I remember

he was in the Wolverine movie. Oh, sore subject.

And Mario Lopez, what are you doing, buddy? I

feel like, right then, Zack Moore should have

stopped time. Been like, wait a minute, no, we

don't reference Wolverine Origins. Nope, Deadpool

stopped time by hitting Slater in the head. The

thing is, you know when he actually does publicity

for that. The movie when it actually comes out

there are gonna be people who do talk about that

So, you know it was the joke for this one But

give it a few give it some time and I'm guaranteeing

you some like, you know newscaster from Illinois

or some random, you know, there's you know, Iowa

or something like that will be like I remember

when you were in Wolverine and that was a really

great version of the character, right? Then he

put he goes wait, can you wait here for like

an hour while I put the costume on? Yeah, just

wait here If you like that newscaster that uh,

samuel jackson was uh, lorenz fishburne or whatever

Same thing but samuel jackson's like my daughter

doesn't do porn. What the hell are you talking

about? Lawrence feels for his daughter does porn.

I know. Yes You can see his daughter naked Alrighty

well there you go her name's no longer fish burn

and something else burn a crotch burn But besides

that I did I get to get to watch a few things

I didn't get to watch a great deal, but a few

weeks ago I was a guest on the in session film

podcast and Part of that was we were talking

about movies about addiction. So I watched a

few and they were so sad and depressing. I wanted

to watch something that was like, all right,

I need something light, something funny, something

I can kind of like, you know, not have to watch

someone shoot a heroin because I was watching

a lot of really depressing movies. And so I started

to watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which is

produced by Tina Fey, starring Ellie Kempner,

who was I knew from Kemper Kemper, starring Ellie

Kemper, who I knew from The Office and It's about

to show off though. The premise of it is that

she is this girl who was kidnapped at the age

of 14 and forced to live underground with this

cult Like oh, no, this is not at all what I wanted

But it actually they ended up kind of making

light of it as but it ends up being quite funny

and I enjoyed it I I got him in I never watched

the third rock which I hear a lot of people compare

it to but it's rather funny kind of like really

high like not high energy, but like surreal comedy

in a lot of ways really kind of really big characters

and Almost like a living cartoon in some instances

just with like how like colorful the characters

are and really bright and Ellie Kepner is perfect

in that role like she fits it really well It

doesn't remind me a lot of her character in the

office, but even a little bit more Like out there

and a little bit more just so bright and sherry,

but uh, no, it's a fun show It's it's you know,

if you're looking for something kind of comedic

I would I would have advised checking it out.

Nothing great but enjoyable, you know, it's it's

weird seeing like Netflix moving the comedies,

but I kind of like the idea so Well, Greg, you

said you had interest in watching that show I've

just heard good things. I haven't really had

a big interest, but if you say it's like 30 rock

I really enjoyed 30 rock I binge that on Netflix

and I really enjoyed that show so I might check

it out Yeah, I've never watched 30 rock, but

I've heard of like that's a big comparison I

hear so that's that's that's secondhand knowledge,

so if it's not I apologize That's what I'm that's

the rumors. I hear I really like Tracy Morgan

on 30 rock. Yeah, he's not Tracey Morgan, are

you here? Yes, I am Daniel. How are you doing?

I just sound like a monster But the other show

I watched I was gonna talk about brief because

I only saw the first episode of it and it's on

Amazon Prime and it's a cop show called Bosch

and it's starring Titus Rolver who's one of those

actors who's like in everything you're gonna

you're gonna watch it and immediately be like

what do I know that guy from and the answer is

like everything he was in Transformers he was

in Shield for a little bit he's been in Argo

the town he's like he's one of those character

actors that appears in just about like every

movie and the thing about Bosch it's a it's a

crime show and he plays a character who's like

a similar to like you know other cops who maybe

he takes things into his hands a little bit the

first episode revolves around uh him shooting

a guy and the question is if it was justified

or not so but then he ends up getting on this

one case where it involves child murder but the

thing about i noticed about bosh within the first

episode is like every character is from something

i know it's like there's like everybody it's

like oh they were from the wire oh they were

from the wire oh they were from uh hershel from

the walking dead is there the he Please a doctor

in the show, of course. So Bosch is like the

cheers of TV shows. Yes, you know, you know everyone's

name. Definitely. So, yeah, I enjoyed the first

episode. It's, you know, it seems like standard

comp affair. I'll see if it gets into anything

more than that. But if you're a prime member,

Amazon has some decent shows. I know they had

one that won the Golden Globe for best comedy,

but I haven't watched that yet. So it was enjoyable.

It's nothing fantastic yet, but. It's worth your

time at least But also we talked about the Deadpool

news And other news dropped which I was kind

of shocked. It wasn't bigger news and at first

I'm like was this an April Fools joke today that

people are just saying and and Actually, no,

it's it's true and that is the news that Stephen

Amell Arrow himself will be playing a role in

the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie But

Chuck who is he going to be playing and what

iconic character that we all think is a badass?

He is gonna be playing someone that was in our

badass bracket and according to all our listeners

should have made it a lot farther And now thinking

back I kind of agree but and that is of course

Casey Jones And I kind of get the casting it.

I don't know. I how do you guys feel about it?

Uh, I really don't care because the movie was

terrible Does this at all make you like maybe

thinking okay, maybe I'll see it. Nope. Nope

It kind of does for me like it's I mean, I know

I really dislike the first one and you know this

this is sort of reminiscent of like sprinkling

glitter on a pile of dog crab, but Nice looking

pile of dog crab It's the disco balls of Dog

crap no, I don't know. I mean, I'm excited. I

definitely like him as an actor I've only ever

seen him in arrow in that sort of role. So Mean

this will be getting his STD shots to go up against

Megan Fox Yeah, you gotta you can't stand too

close to her that's why he's wearing the hockey

Maybe she's gonna beat the crap out of her I'm

kind of like I don't know. I'm kind of intrigued

to see like what he does with this cuz like Mean

Casey Jones is is definitely a gritty character,

but it's not quite as dark as the arrow Yeah,

like he's got sort of a goofy side to him He's

kind of got a joking around sign like if you

remember back to the 1990s movie or you know

There was a famous scene with like Donatello

when they were fixing up the truck where they

like joking with each other and everything So

I'm really curious to see him sort of bring that

side of the character and I'm looking forward

to Sort of like a rivalry with with Raphael and

stuff and if they're gonna play that out like

from the comics and everything But yeah, that's

a good point. Yeah, he's more like Bill intended

and he is Batman, you know, he kind of has that

sense of humor and I have nothing I don't think

arrows laughed once in that entire It's really

hard for him to crack a smile. I think it's only

happened three times Yeah In some ways it feels

like it's like kind of gimmick casting in a way

because are they just thinking oh people like

arrows We're gonna film in the show. I don't

know. We'll see you can maybe do it But like

you Greg, I was on a fan in the first one I'll

probably end up seeing it because I'm a glutton

for punishment. So well, we'll see I'll be curious

to see how he does that I'm hoping like we can

see a different side of him at least, you know

be humorous like you said Chuck I think it's

a good point that you need he didn't throw some

jokes in there make it a little bit more fun

Definitely like a glorified happy Gilmore or

something like that But all right, so we're gonna

do though we're gonna take a quick break and

when we come back we'll be finishing our ultimate

TV networks. Hey guys, this is JD from the in

session film podcast every week on our show You

can join my co -host Brendan and I as we review

the latest films that's out in theaters It also

inspires us to discuss a top three list of some

sort and we have a lot of other fun movie discussions

as well It's always a blast and we also have

a show on Fridays called our extra film podcast

This is a show that gives us the space to talk

about the latest Indies and art films and other

classics that we normally just don't get to talk

about on our main show. You can find our podcast

on iTunes, Stitcher Radio, SoundCloud, TuneIn

Radio, Player FM and more. In fact, you can just

see everything about us, including our social

medias at InSessionFilm .com. So join us every

week. We'd absolutely love to have you. Hey GeekCast

listeners! Do you ever listen to Punisher Body

Count and think to yourself, this show would

be awesome if it had less toilet humor and was

not about the Punisher? If so, join me, Emily

Williams, as I class up the Punisher guys on

Dane and Jake at Classy, or like the Oprah Book

Club of comics. You'll hear us discuss famous

works like The Dark Knight Returns and The Grove,

along with graphic novels no one else is talking

about, like Blue Monday and Blankets. You can

find us at daneandjakeatclassy .wordpress .com.

or on iTunes. Alright, and welcome back! If you

haven't listened to last week's episode, do that

because it might make no sense, but what we're

doing here is we're creating the ultimate TV

network. And similar to networks, we're programming

for each day. Last week we did Monday and Tuesday,

and we're programming half an hour slots, sometimes

hour, depending upon our TV shows. And similar

to our drafts, Once the show is picked, it's

gone for good. But we can choose any show at

any time. And so we're just kind of having fun

with it. And then what I'll also be doing is

putting up a post at geekcastcreator .com with

a link to see all of our choices and let you

vote on which network you would choose or which

network you think was the best or what have you.

We have all of our classic fun. Let's get the

show on the road. Last week, I started first.

So to make things fair, we're going to flip Around

the script and start with Greg, you know, Greg

last week. I saw shows So it's only fair. It's

only fair that we start off and if you listen

We all we all had themes for different days and

I'm curious if you're starting off what now that

we're starting off on Wednesday Do you have a

theme here or you just kind of going random?

I am going with a theme dedicated to our relatives

from across the pond. I am I am going with a

Brit theme, if you will, and I'm gonna throw

down my first choice here and just hang out and

not really do much for a couple slots here because

I'm going with Sherlock, an hour and a half long

show. Ah, pulling out the Sherlock. Yeah, Sherlock,

great show. Like one of Chuck's shows from last

week, Sherlock has an, what is it, eidetic? Sorry?

Eidetic? Yes, not idiotic, what Chuck said. I

just did my porcupig there. But Sherlock, great

show, gets a lot of great reviews. Every show

is exciting. I've went over the first season

on Netflix a whole buttload of times, and I tried

to get everybody to watch that. So I'm going

with Sherlock to start things off. Yeah, I do

love Sherlock and I'm really curious about how

next season is gonna go with like apparently

they're going back in time with well Not literally

but it's gonna be taking place in you know, the

Victorian area or if I forget exactly or when

it's taking place Yeah during more the classic

Sherlock era. I don't I at least that's the rumor

I don't know if that's actually gonna go. I don't

think I've seen the last season The lot in which

makes me wonder because last season does kind

of left leave on a cliffhanger Well, they left

on a clip a great cliffhanger in season one Yeah,

very true very sure All righty moving over to

Chuck. What is your first pick for tonight? my

Wednesday, let's see Wednesday is Continuing

my method of going with seemed nights Because

it's all I know Wednesday is gonna be sort of

my Superhero action night that sort of thing

Nice, I figured I figured it was coming eventually.

We're slowly building up to it So, let's see

eight o 'clock. I'm gonna start off with currently

my favorite show and Definitely one of my favorite

shows of all time and that is The Flash Nice

Grant Gustin himself It was a surprisingly good

flash, I gotta admit. He's doing a really great

job. Yeah, I've been really enjoying the flash

as well, and I'm liking how it was creating mystery

and you felt like it was solving it in a really

obvious manner, but some little brain kills were

revealed that maybe it's a little more complicated

than we realized. Definitely like the guest appearance

of Mark Hamilkey. Yeah, yeah, that was quite

cool. I gotta say, the line he says, he says,

I am your father. You know, he's been wanting

to say that for like 35 years Very nice. Very

nice. All right, so you guys all went with well

Greg went with a 90 minute show you want with

an hour show so much again get getting the double

dip here and I do have a theme for today and

I kind of Keep my themes into like the days of

the week and what they actually mean. This was

maybe of a stretch, but Bear with me. And we

think about Wednesday, right? Classic hump day.

And you're making it the way through the week.

You're growing. You're not there quite yet. You're

coming of age with the week. Sounds really creepy

so far, Dan. Yeah, but it's not meant to So what

I'm thinking for the sense the week is coming

of age So I'm focusing on on this week or on

this day for Wednesday as my coming of age night

so different shows that are about you know kids

growing up kids growing older and Starting with

two of the most iconic one Takes place in the

50s at least time period wise and has a member

of our Iconic badass bracket from a few weeks

ago, and that's the fawns with happy days Yeah,

it has one of like really We'll see then and

then also i'll get the double dip because chuck

went with an hour show so now the danger of that

is I get another choice here. So I'm also sticking

with that theme of coming of age and one of the

classic coming of age shows probably from when

I was growing up as a kid actually I think probably

came out a little bit before my time but I watched

it a lot in reruns and that's the wonder years.

I'm trying to keep that the theme of coming of

age well we'll see how that goes but Greg you

again we skip you because you went with Sherlock

which is 90 minutes I mean It's a it's a risky

choice, but I think it's a good idea because

I do like that show a lot So we're moving on

over to chuck What are you choosing for next

for your superhero wednesday your wednesday,

uh starting at nine o 'clock It'll be a show.

That's obviously very closely tied to flash.

They've had some crossovers and that is arrow

Nice nice big surprise big surprise on it Shocker

Which that that'll probably become a TV series,

too, because I feel like every character is getting

their own show. Marvel and Cinemax are fighting

over the show called Shocker. So. So for my nine

o 'clock slot. I so I went one two years, so

a show very related to one two years, literally.

One starts with one stars friend Savage and my

next show is starring his brother Ben Savage

in boy meets world Yeah, so, you know starting

with the coming of age show with happy days from

the 50s thinking what a year's took place in

the 70s Boy meets world is very 90s. So you can

you can see very much where my theme is going

world. So that's my God, no No, I don't like

shows not for 12 year olds. I Don't I can't watch

the first episode of that show I was like not

for me. No, it feels weird watching shows about

12 year old girls Yeah, even even even if it's

supposed to be nostalgic not not gonna watch

it But alright, so that's my 9 o 'clock, but

now Greg going over to you because you have your

930 slot What are you choosing next? 930 I am

going for Torchwood Which died doesn't play anymore,

which I am surprised because it was a really

great show and then they did had they had This

huge I think it was a it was a made for stars

movie or whatever That was also really good.

And if you haven't seen it, definitely check

out Torchwood and thank you for the drumroll

whoever did the drumroll There was me banging

glasses Is that like related to Dr. Who? Yes,

that is a spinoff from Dr. Who. You had Barrowman

playing Captain Jack Harkness, another Captain

Jack, the best Captain Jack if you ask me. He

plays an alien who is fighting aliens here on

Earth and cannot die. It's very cool. I would

definitely check that out, especially if you

like Dr. Who. Very cool. Very cool. All right,

so you guys... Went with our shows for nine nine

o 'clock. I went with a half an hour show with

my With my coming -of -age theme. So what am

I playing at 930? This is again another show

didn't get a lot of it Didn't last very long

but had a really huge impact and stars like so

many people that are really famous now Jason

Siegel Seth Seth Rogan, and I don't know if you

guys ever watched it but freaks and geeks Did

I steal it from you? Okay, but another great

coming -of -age story it didn't and like I said

didn't last long But it's quite good did not

get the attention it deserves for a lot of people

It has become a cult hit though. So that's where

I'm going with 930. Have you ever watched Freaks

and Geeks? I think it was only like one or two

seasons, right? Yeah, it was very very short

1999 or something. Yeah. Yeah, I did like Linda

whatever her last name is the sister from that

show oh I can't think of it yeah it's like her

or something she was a Velma on Scooby -Doo and

she was in Grandma's Boy actually the the the

kid is the guy who plays sweets and bones oh

yeah yeah all right so now we're moving on to

our 10 o 'clock slots for Thursday and Greg we're

moving on to you. You have Doctor, you have Sherlock,

we have Torchwood. 10 o 'clock where you going?

Moonlighting? That sounds like the same thing.

Pseudomax? Both terrible imitations that I'm

doing here but I am going with the Doctor. Dr.

Who? Hell yeah, if you have a British Knight,

you have to go with Dr. Who. Damn it, Greg, you

took my - No, I'm kidding. That faked out no

one, Chuck. I'm sorry. That was as bad as my

impersonations. Thank you very much. I thought

your penguin was very good. Thanks. All right,

Chuck, you got the flash, you got arrow. I'm

guessing we got shield next? Never. Never. Smallville,

Smallville. You know what? It might as well call

it DC night because it's Smallville. Yeah! Nailed

it! Nice. Not much you can say about that. I've

pretty much talked about it before. Going with

Smallville. I gotta say, I've never watched Smallville

but you gotta at least say it was the pioneer.

Without it you might not have the flash of green

arrow. I have my 10 o 'clock. slot open and this

is really hard because there really wasn't like

a lot of shows that were coming of age that were

an hour that were really good but this one kind

of fit it this can also have been on my tuesday

night regarding like the creepy and the crawly

but uh it's definitely very 90s show which kind

of stays six within freaks and geeks and i think

a lot of crossover audience written by the man

that is all geeked them right now and that is

buffy the vampire slayer Which you know again,

you have kids growing up in high school and college

so it fits there, but also vampires, which is

kind of cool So I would definitely say that coming

of age Yeah, so I figured it fits in my theme

And for my for my Wednesday night showing now,

we're moving over to Thursday Greg Do you have

a new theme to stick with BBC you doing something

different? Thursday is sci -fi fantasy even though

a lot of my other days are kind of sci -fi fantasy

too so for my first slot i am going with firefly

nice i'm getting all the brown coat votes i thought

about going with firefly but i chose it because

you already went with a joss weeden Exactly,

and I've never I've never watched it. So I am

like I'd be kind of just being that guy That's

just going with something really watch it. It's

a space opera combined with a spaghetti western

type of scenario. I Think I think I'm gonna have

to because it it wouldn't the Waltz we'll talk

about that shortly in one of our upcoming episodes

But because I was on my list issue. Okay. Yeah

All right moving on over to you Chuck. You have

your superheroes. Where are you going to next?

Thursday is gonna be my comedy night Nice Monday

so it's my turn and starting off with a classic

and Definitely one of my favorites if not my

favorite job all time and I've mentioned on the

show many times before and that is home improvement

I Purposely sit away from stayed away from this

one because I'm like it's gonna be Thanks guys,

I appreciate Yeah Very nice. Yeah, hope improvement

good. I mean that wasn't TJF, but that was on

ABC so My Thursday night like I didn't really

have a theme come back and forth for a few things,

but I think overall I'm actually going to go

with more of a crime theme for this week. And

starting with someone who's on the right side

of the law. And it's a show that kind of became

one of my quick favorites just recently. And

just because I find it fun, I find so many great

characters in this with Raelynn Gibbons. And

it's such a fun show. And I think you guys would

actually quite like it because it has kind of

a Western feel to it too, but more of like an

updated Western. And that is justified. Timmy

Elfman playing a badass It's actually its last

season as a season But I really I really love

that show its second season to me is one of the

best seasons I've ever seen but I it's a great

great great crime show that It has some really

really awesome characters It's almost like a

Batman Joker vibe with Raylan Gibbons finally

started watching it because it's on Amazon So

if you have Amazon private me and actually watch

it right now, and I would advise doing so because

it's worth your time Yeah, or do both at the

same time and see how that goes We're much more

interesting than that show Yeah, let's let's

people die in our podcast All right, Chuck actually

going back to you cuz I have an hour show now

and so does Greg so you have home improvement

What's your next comedy show my next comedy show?

It's gonna be another sort of classic 90s show

and One that you mentioned that they might be

sort of bringing back if that's full house Really

nice full house Yeah, you know what when you

get a full house, it's it's full every night

of the week so They actually for the sad thing

is I remember full house was on multiple nights

of the week It was on Tuesday one point and so

it's it's not just been on Fridays. It's they've

had it on different nights What? What's with

the Friday thing? Nah, I was just joking, because

it was TGIF. I don't think it was on TGIF. Yeah,

it was. I am pretty damn sure it was on TGIF.

Please comment below, because I'm not going to

look it up. I'll look it up when you comment

on it. This is a great myth. We'll never find

out. There's no way to know. There's no way to

know. Wish we had a thing like the internet to

find this out from. I know, I know, right? All

right, Greg, you said you're starting with sci

-fi this week. You have firefly. I Know a lot

of people love that show. Yep. Where you going

next? I figure I'm gonna do Something not like

you because I'm awesome Yeah, the claws are really

coming out guys now I'm sticking with the Whedon

verse and I am going with dollhouse uh with one

of uh somebody who nearly made me pass out uh

when i was at new york comic con last with eliza

dushku who i saw there who is uh gorgeous and

very tiny she's a very small she's like a miniature

person she looks very tall on the uh in dollhouse

but she is so tiny Yeah, it was really hilarious

watching standing here seeing her stand next

to Rick Clark. It's about huge to get a basketball

player It's like wow. Yeah, so I'm going with

my girl Eliza do skew I never watched all Hey

It didn't last very long, but I thought it was

really good. All right, Chuck moving back over

to you You got your comedy so far home improvement

full house. Where you going next? I'm gonna go

with another great comedy from Same time period

family matters Well, I'm thinking of something

for Friday and we'll get to it now son of a biatch

I gotta change things. Oh, see how it goes. Well,

all right. Well, I Had a funny thing that was

gonna happen and now I get it. All right You're

still gonna have to mention what the funny thing

was. I Will oh you'll see it. I think I think

I have a backup. It might still work. We'll see

It was kind of funny not funny ha ha All right

good good good on you family matters And I talked

about like my my theme for Thursday is crime

Well, I had someone in the right side of the

law now I'm gonna focus on someone on the wrong

side of the law and that is Breaking Bad To me

one of the best shows ever unfortunately has

ended but Five seasons of greatness. I know some

people think it was too slow I've heard complaints,

but I I really love it to me it's like the great

evolution of one of the best characters in TV

history within Heisenberg and You know Brian

Creston performance, and it's fantastic So I

had to find a place for it. I had to choose I

had to you know get it in here someplace So I

ended up putting it on Thursday's so Breaking

Bad. I kind of love it Already Chuck actually

throwing it right back to you because because

if you throw on Greg's channel still be watching

dollhouse But if they wanted to watch a comedy

at 930 and not on your network, what would they

get? My network they would find the Big Bang

Theory Create modern -day comedy that I'm a big

fan of that Dan hates Yes, you do don't lie No,

I'm a really big fan of this show. Actually,

my dad and my stepmother are huge fans of it,

too, and they know nothing about comics and everything,

but they find the show hilarious. Mine, sort

of the same way. We're constantly watching the

reruns on TBS and all that stuff, but hopefully

you can switch it on. My network can find it

on there. Yeah, my wife likes it too. We fall

asleep to it very often on when it's on TBS.

So very cool Already, so we are the 10 o 'clock

slot the last slot for Thursday Greg you have

firefly dollhouse you staying with the weeding

you going like you know, you're gonna see in

the weeding verse you're going to play with sci

-fi and I don't have a Phi yet. I need my fantasy

in there. So I'm going with one of my favorite

shows and also another show with a gorgeous lady

Representing in it and I'm going with Game of

Thrones I was wondering, I was wondering if that

was gonna be... I gotta get my Khaleesi in there.

Yeah, she's going Game of Thrones. Very nice.

I know she is. If she ever listened to this,

she'd be so creeped out. Yeah, yeah. She's like,

I'm gonna go take a shower and Greg's like, I

will come with you. Just think about it Greg

she was almost in Fifty Shades of Grey All right,

so moving over to you Chuck you staying with

the comedies or where you going? You got you

got a lot here. You had home improvement. You

had full house and family matters Big Bang Theory,

you know, you got a lot of laughs there. You

keep him going. I'm gonna keep it going. It's

It's very difficult to find an hour -long comedy

show weren't many of them at all, but This one

I think this one I think fits the bill It's a

show that just recently had its 40th anniversary

and that's Saturday Night Live Wow, ah Even though

it's on Thursday, it's you know I remember when

Comedy Central used to have it on the kind of

reruns all the time. So has it on too? Oh, yeah,

I did not know that weird I purposely go past

E as quickly as possible every time I see it,

so. It's hard to see. It's hard to see. Kind

of like History 2, the H2 channel. Oh, man. It's

history minus facts. Minus the accuracy. Oh,

man. Yeah. I feel like they should merge with,

like, sci -fi to make a spinoff channel called

Hi -Fi. Oh It's kind of sad when sci -fi seems

more realistic than the history channel. So All

right. So for my 10 o 'clock slot for Thursday,

I'm gonna go with one of my all -time favorite

TV shows started with Breaking Bad That was I

had one show for Thursday. I had one that was

against the law one that was for the law This

one's combination of both one of my favorite

shows of all time and that's The Wire So ending

my Thursday off with what I think is clearly

one of the best TV shows ever and I think I don't

know I think I have a pretty solid lineup for

Thursday Alright, so we are we have come down

to the nitty -gritty the last day of the week

Friday Everyone loves Friday, you know, thank

God. It's Friday TGIF Friday Greg, you're kicking

us off. What is your first show for Friday? Friday

will be my comedy night. So Friday, I'm kicking

it off with one of my favorite comedies. I think

it is hilarious. I laugh until my stomach hurts.

I am going with The Leap. Nice fantasy football

team Who just fuck with each other constantly

and it just leads to hilarity. I highly recommend

everybody check out that show I do love the league.

It's great. And even if you're not in the fantasy

football, you'll probably like it. So it's Just

there to get these guys together Yeah, it certainly

helps but it's not needed. So alright moving

on over to You Chuck what's next on your lineup?

My method for Friday was sort of uh, I guess

like Friday nights kind of the night when everyone

goes out So I figured a lot of people don't get

to stay home and watch their favorite shows at

least like the younger crowd So with that in

mind, I sort of put some some older shows in

this lineup for the folks that'll be staying

home And you grip it yes, you nailed it Nice

Andy Thank you I Remembered you talking about

it in this episode. I believe yeah. Yeah, I do

like that show you know I see it on that me TV

every now and then They play all the old shows

and stuff, but I'm not gonna kick out of it.

You know it's a it was a simpler time and More

often than not at the time. I wish I was back

in instead of now, so Not like can't be All righty

Moving on to the next choice and actually Chuck

had similar idea that you did isn't thinking

younger I was also thinking I was thinking more

so our families because that was thinking of

the classic TGIF and it's kind of when I went

with and again That's why I was thinking family

matters But I don't know if you would call this

a family show too much But it's a classic show

and that is all in the family with the iconic

Archie bunker So it's a very you know me really

Interesting. Go watch their channels. They are

willing to go with a racist. Just saying. See,

I had mine later on in the night because of that

sort of thing, but that's all right. I can pick

another one. You'll see what my theme was. See,

I was going to go Family Matters. That's what

you get. All right. Moving on to you, Greg. What

is next for you for 8 .30? The League is an hour

show. Yes, I believe so Whatever All right, move

it on. Okay. Well Chuck we go right back to you

because the league is an hour show So what is

next on your list for 830? 830 I have another

really classic show. I love Lucy. Ah I do my

parents. That's my dad's all -time favorite show

for some reason. Yeah. Yeah Yeah, so he loves

that show. He's got all these great books on

it and stuff like that. So I grew up watching

that show. He has some explaining to do. Guys,

I'm going to have some explaining to do too because

I don't really like C and I feel really bad about

it. Aw. Well, for my show, for 8 .30, moving

on over to me... Went all the family. I'm staying

with the family theme, but more modern get it

because I'm going with my family Yeah, yeah,

I told you it was funny enough funny ha ha So

all the family and then modern family All right,

Chuck actually Greg you're next for your nine

o 'clock nine o 'clock show you have the league

very funny Where you going with next for your

nine? Not super funny, but funny because it's

just so cornball. I'm going with Batman 66. Seriously?

Damn it! Oh, man, I just got that one in time.

Damn it. I didn't... Alright, well, okay. Sorry.

Alright, Chuck, you're up next for your 9 o 'clock

slot. You have... Annie Griffith's I love Lucy.

What's the next classic tv show you're going

with? Uh next classic show for me. I'm gonna

toss out Sanford and Son I never watched it.

I never I never I never saw it as a kid I feel

like a lot of people our age don't really appreciate

that show that you know, don't really uh Haven't

really gotten into it. But for whatever reason

I sort of took to it and thought it was hilarious

I just enjoy this grumpy old guy that just yells

at everyone. I just find it very hilarious. What's

his name? I can't think of his name. Red Fox.

Red Fox, yeah. It's funny because I always remember

hearing the stories where his comedy was so much

more risque than his show and people would come

through his shows to be completely turned off

by how dirty he could be. Alright, so moving

on over to me for my nine o 'clock show and I'm

gonna go with another family show But not with

one with family in the title Yeah, a family that

let's say came from a very long long long time

ago and that's the dinosaurs. Ooh I love that

show going up, you know, what's You think in

families on Fridays kids love dinosaurs. So kids

making jokes or dinosaurs making jokes Not the

mom of that classic moment. So I don't watch

the show in years, but I loved it when it was

on Yeah, I still love that show, too Agreed All

right, Greg moving back over to you. You have

Batman. What's what are you going with after

Batman? Well, I'm gonna go with a show that is

a cult classic for a lot of people Always thought

it was very funny and I wish they would do more

but they they have moved on to a show called

Rift tracks, which you can download I am going

with mystery science theater 3000 See too many

of the hour -and -a -half shows anymore. No you

do nuts Yeah, I thought about that too. But just

with it being 90 minutes I say it away, but I

love mystery science theater. It's quite good

and A lot of that's on netflix, too It's always

it's always a good time because it's you get

to watch that show and the movie at the same

time So not one one not to love. Yeah, it's a

twofer Definitely love my two first. All right.

So that actually finishes you greg so your entire

Yeah, I can take a break now is completed Moving

on over to you though chuck you still have some

time left for friday. So what are you going with

next? 9 30 slot, right? Yes your 9 30 slot I

have one more half hour show Another classic

show for the older generation and that is mash

Nice. I'm actually surprised Greg did not go

with mash. I thought he thought it thought he's

gonna take it there in the last pic, but nope

So my 930 slot so I started with dinosaurs and

similar to dinosaurs the show dealing with crazy

creatures And if you don't love Muppets, you're

a horrible person, so I'm going with The Muppet

Show for my 9 .30 slot. Nice. Gotta love Muppets,

especially the soundiest version of it, man,

like the... Well, I found out I'm a horrible

person tonight. You don't like The Muppets? No,

I'm not crazy about them. Oh, really? Aw. Aw.

It's the two grumpy old men up in the... I'm

in the Mr. Sanford theme right now. I'm just

being grumpy about it So speaking of grumpy,

what are you going with for your 10 o 'clock

for your next show? My 10 o 'clock show will

be a one -hour show and This is the longest running

live -action show in the history of TV and that

is gun smoke nice nice It was taken over by the

Simpsons is the longest running show on TV like

that like that Team song yeah now initially the

initially the gun smokes were a half hour. Yes.

They were for the first I think six seasons The

first six seasons so the infancy of the show.

Yes, you know So then the next, you know, 14

seasons after that were one hour shows. Yep.

Yeah, my mom was a huge fan of that. And sort

of because of that, I've seen I've seen quite

a few of them, but it's quite good. I do enjoy

it. I was amazed how they could keep coming up

with original plot lines. You know, every week

for 20 years, that's just incredible to me. Chuck,

let me tell you, when you've seen each episode

about 5 billion times, they get old quick. Yeah,

I mean, I don't know. I've seen quite a few interesting

plots that they got going on. I mean, some of

them... I've seen the same ones over and over

and over, though, Chuck. Some of them sort of

run together a little bit, but there's a little

bit of diversity there. All right, I've never

really watched it so I really can't say I'm out

of this conversation and have no idea how to

get in so I Got a lot. I'm not gonna lie. This

is where I was going Batman 66 because I'm thinking

it's comedic. It's family It's superheroes. I

was trying to find something that also kind of

fits that mold I'm thinking maybe Green Hornet,

but Green Hornet's kind of like, I don't know,

it's not as good. So, but I'm thinking, you know,

what's important as a family is also to think

and have kids watching shows that are smart and,

you know, definitely promote some good values

and especially when it regarding science. So

don't I have a science guy? That'd be a good

idea, but I'm going to go with more fiction oriented

and that's Star Trek The Next Generation. Okay.

You know I Great show. I think that's a show

you still watch with your entire family. It's

maybe your kids are staying up Entirely way too

late damn. It's a Friday. It's not a school night.

You know true. I guess yeah, yeah Only don't

probably be asleep by then so maybe some of the

older kids You know 12 13 can definitely watch

Star Trek so you know it used to be used to play

during the day So I definitely think it's family

-friendly for the most part so That will finish

it so gotta gotta a huge variety here for all

of our different networks a lot of choose from

Except for Tuesday's except for Tuesday's you're

stuck with the creepy in the crawly for Tuesday's,

but you're gonna like it My mom's gonna hate

Tuesday's Anything else before we end this episode

or sorry anything else before we move on to our

letter but Looking looking good. And like I said,

I'll put on a link on a geocache reader comms

You can see all of our network all of our different

networks to see exactly which one truly is the

best Do we have a name for each of our networks?

I was thinking about that. I don't have one for

yours Chuck. Um Mine would be CTV CTV Must see

TV. That's right. Mine would be DC TV. That's

pretty lame. Yeah. I do not, I do not, I didn't

think of a name for my network. That'd be kind

of funny because mine would be CD TV and yours

would be DC. Mine doesn't really go with any

of that too well. GD TV? Heebie Jeebie TV. Oh.

but yeah it was definitely a fun time uh it's

funny when you have so much to choose from somehow

we still end up picking each other's picks even

though we have the history of tv to to choose

from that's how it rolls i guess somebody's trying

to make a point How else can you see Urkel, Myrtle,

and Stefan all together? Scary thought. Family

matters. Then, things really get hot when Cory

accidentally sets fire to the biology lab. Shawn,

quick! Rub off your DNA! Boy meets world. And

Al's got a hot date until Frank cools her off.

We're just sucking a little face here in wisconsin

We do not suck step by step then mark's putting

on a talent show and the girls think they're

the stars on coup It's tgif abc right before

we go We like to end each episode with a letter

and we're gonna do one of our little skits that

we've taken from don't reply .com It's emails

from an asshole and basically showing what can

happen when craigslist goes wrong for this one

the ad that was posted was Attention all ice

skaters and hockey players volunteers needed

to train children participating in the Special

Olympics hockey team not looking where this is

going already Anyone with adequate skating skills

can be used to help teach our athletes to skate

Please call number or respond to the email address

above Judy So we will first email is in response

to that ad Judy I'm writing in response to your

ad regarding helping children learn to skate

I was a legend in minor league hockey until my

career was cut short by a career ending injury.

I still love the game of hockey though and would

love to pass on my skills to your wonderful children.

I look forward to hearing from you, Mike. Mike,

I'm sorry to hear about your injury. That is

very unfortunate. Are you still able to skate?

I only ask because we need someone to skate one

on one with the children, Judy. Oh yes, I'm still

able to skate. I think you misunderstood me.

My career was cut short because I was banned

after causing another player to have a career

injury. It was an unfortunate accident, but the

league came down extremely hard on me. It really

wasn't fair, if you ask me. Yikes! What were

the circumstances of the band slash injury, if

you don't mind me asking? Not at all. It really

wasn't a big deal. The guy was fine, but everyone

turned into this huge ordeal. During a fight,

I broke his eye socket. Fish hooked his cheek

apart and slashed his Achilles tendon with my

skate. He also suffered brain damage from blood

loss, but that is more the paramedic's fault

than mine for letting him bleed out for so long.

Looks like the only shit he'll be playing now

is shitting in a bag. Anyway, the pussies at

the commissioner's office considered it gross

misconduct for some reason and assault and gave

me a lifetime ban. Can you believe that? I thought

it was supposed to be hockey. So like I said,

I was a legend in minor league hockey. My nickname

used to be Murder and Mike. Don't worry, I never

actually murdered anyone. It was just a cute

nickname. I won more fights than everyone else

in the division combined. In fact, I've only

ever lost one fight on the ice, but I won the

rematch in the parking lot. Thank you, Tireiron.

I know everything there is to know about fighting

and would love to pass on my skills to your kids.

If you want them to be the best damn hockey fighters

in the Special Olympics, I'm your guy. With my

training, the other teams won't stand a chance.

The ice will be stained with their blood, teeth,

and broken dreams. I'm currently in between jobs,

so I can dedicate a lot of time to helping out.

Best, Murder and Mike. What do you think this

is? The Specialed Olympics? Are for the mentally

handicapped? You know that, right? What you described

is brutally violent and has no place in the Special

Olympics! Frankly, I think you deserve to be

in jail! Thank you and goodbye! Oh there, don't

be so dismissive. Do you even know anything about

hockey? It sounds to me like you think hockey

is just soccer on ice. Well, I've got news for

you, Judy. You couldn't be more wrong. In hockey,

we don't fake injuries and have to mishap the

season due to a pulled vagina muscle. We fight

it out like men. Fighting is what hockey is all

about. It's a tradition that dates back to the

first hockey game ever played. If you want your

kids to learn how to play hockey, they're gonna

have to learn how to fight. I'll teach your kids

how to get away with everything without the referee

seeing it. I'll show them how to make butt -ending,

head -checking, slashing, and tripping look like

an accident. to learn how to fight like hockey

players. I have a whole set of moves I like to

use during fights. My personal favorite is the

bowling ball, where you guide both of the opponent's

eyes and you jam your thumb into the roof of

their mouth. I used that during a fight once

and the guy actually started convulsing. Struck

fear into the heart of the other team, we ended

up winning the game. With my expert training,

your team will be the most feared team in the

entire Special Olympics. Please reconsider hiring

me, Mike. You aren't coming anywhere near these

children. Your attitude towards this whole thing

is disgusting. It's absolutely disturbing that

you find this kind of behavior acceptable, especially

for mentally handicapped children. I don't know

what kind of insane league you played in, but

that is not the level of intensity that's meant

for these children. Oh, I get it. You're saying

that because these kids are mentally handicapped

that they don't deserve to be treated like regular

people? Instead, you want to point out their

disabilities and tell them that they will never

be able to play hockey like normal people? When

I saw in your ad that these kids were mentally

challenged, I wasn't phased. I didn't see kids

with disabilities. I saw kids that I could turn

into great hockey players. Do you not want them

to be able to play hockey like everybody else

plays it? You know, that isn't what I meant.

Don't pull that card on me. You expect me to

believe that a violent psychopath like you generally

wants to help the mentally challenged play hockey?

Yeah, right. You don't give a damn about these

children. Judy. I'm starting to think that you

are the problem with this team and not the kids.

You do not have the right attitude to be working

with these kids. If you want to tell these kids

that they shouldn't learn hockey the right way

because they're mentally challenged, then that

is just sad. It's a shame that you're taking

away the joy of competitive sports from these

kids. Competitive sports are great for kids.

Keeps them from turning to drugs and violence

in the streets. Can I please talk to your supervisor?

I'd like to take your position and suggest that

you would be fired. You certainly do not have

the right attitude for helping mentally challenge

kids. Sincerely, looking forward to taking your

job, Mike. Sure. Her number is 1 -800 -GO -TO

-HELL. Sincerely done talking to you, Judy. Burn.

That's so funny. I wonder if he ever ends up

like telling these people that he was just messing

with them or if he just lets it go. It's kind

of funny. If you want to send emails from an

asshole to us, you can do so by getting them

at feedback at GeekCastRadio .com and they won't

give out our email. Good segue. At TalkingInCircles.

like a natural woman. Man, I feel like a woman.

I was gonna do that sound! It's like Peter singing

the milkshake song. Is that what I seriously

sounded like? No, I'm saying that's Peter from

Family Guy. There was a thing where he was in

prison and they made him sing that song so he

was like crying while he was singing it.
