About this Episode

The hosts revisit the classic Oregon Trail computer game, discuss Marvel's Hulk and the Agents of Smash animated series, and play a round of Sequel Reboot or Destroy covering He-Man, Indiana Jones, Agent Carter, Hellboy, Friends, and Jaws.

Hi, this is Lauren Lester, and you're listening

to the Geekcast Radio Network. You are now on

the inside of what I like to call the circle

of trust. We are all connected in a great circle

of life. You know something, Bert? What? I think

you and I are going in circles. It feels like

we're going in circles. The circle is not complete.

When I left you, I was but the third. Now I am

the last. Because it's a circle. Yeah, we heard

about the circle. Yeah, I swear it really would

change. Hi, this is Greg. This is Chuck. And

this is Dan, and we are Talking in Circles, brought

to you by the ECATS Radio Network, the podcast

that was recently snubbed at the Academy Awards.

some little crap about us not being a movie or

something, I don't know, but it was a bunch of

BS. Now, next year, maybe next year, I do better

campaigning. I don't know. I need to buy a big

billboard or something like that. I just want

to be nominated. That's that's all I just want

to be nominated so I can go there and hang out

with Jennifer Lawrence and Emilia Clarke and

like that's that's the whole reason I want to

go. We need to like start doing some Oscar Brady

things like in here in search storylines of us

like Overcoming different disabilities or something

like that, you know, Greg some adversity tricky.

Yeah Exactly, Greg can get a tricky problem of

like drinking too much Gatorade, but then overcoming

like getting in the parade, you know, it'll be

I am drinking whiskey tonight I'm a little bit

more powerful than the Gatorade. So well that'll

show hell. Yeah apparently all we're all we'll

have to do is just You know, in order to win

best picture, we just have to do poorly at the

box office with respect to all the blockbusters.

Yeah. Or we know what we could do is be like

boyhood and take like 12 years to make a podcast

and then release it. So we'll record like one

minute, one each day for 12 years, and that'll

be the podcast. But besides all that, how's the

week been going for you guys? Pretty good. I

have to say, I got to play one of my favorite

childhood games recently. And no, it's not that.

It's a, it's an old computer game that most of

us anyway, probably remember from elementary

school. And that is of course, Oregon trail.

Nice, nice Oregon trail. Some of us called that

social studies class. It's now online for free.

That is all nice. I spent a couple hours playing

that the the first night that I found out about

it and I made my little party I had you guys

in there and you know Dan and Greg and myself

and One of the ox was killed by Wolverine. Damn

it. Now, unfortunately, I didn't make it to the

end. Oh, Dan, you you ended up dying of cholera

and a broken leg. Just for an insult to injury.

Had to throw the broken leg in there, you know,

fall down, break a leg. Oh, and you have cholera.

It's not enough to have a severe bacterial infection.

And then Greg, you drowned with me while we were

trying to navigate this river on a raft. So at

least I went with a friend. That's all I care

about. Yeah. Yeah. We hit a giant rock and, you

know, crashed and we both drowned. So by the

way, when I was younger, I almost did drown and

then my cousin saved me. Oh, yeah. See. You hear

that, Academy Awards? You hear that? And to add

a little twist to it, this same cousin also claims

that later in life he did it with Christina Aguilera.

So he also died of cholera. Thank you. Nice.

I was thinking that one through as I was saying

it. I'm like, I can totally bring back cholera!

Yes! Connection made! Greg, do you think there's

any chance that when you almost drowned in that

water that there were any weird chemicals in

that water that gave you super swimming powers

or something? Maybe they developed after puberty

or something? I highly doubt it. Can you talk

to fish by any chance? I've tried to talk to

my dad's fish down in this aquarium. They just

go bloop, bloop, bloop, bloop, bloop, bloop.

That's about it. What about the band fish? Any

better luck? No, sorry. So was Oregon Trail everything

you remembered? Was it as good as you remember?

Yeah. Well, I couldn't remember a lot because

that was from like fourth grade or something.

But no, it was pretty cool because I had forgotten

a lot of the little things in it and like what

happens and everything. could trade with people

and talk with people. What I did find out is

when you hit the option to trade with people,

it's always a really shitty trade for you. You

know, it's like, hey, this guy needs 70 pounds

of food and he's going to give you a wagon wheel.

And I'm like, what the fuck? First of all, I

only have 75 pounds of food and I already have

two wagon wheels. It's like, it's always a bad

trade. So I never trade with people. The trick

is, the trick is to be good at hunting because

then you don't have to spend all your money on

food. You can spend on earth, other stuff. So

like wifi and stuff like that. Yeah. My, my wagon

was its own wifi hotspot. You got to check in

every so often. Yeah. A little, little selfie

with the ox. This takes like 17 hours because

you have to draw it All right, uh greg how's

your week been going you've been playing any

classic games I haven't I was the one that uh

chuck was referring to because I i've Never even

heard of oregon trail until I think I got to

college and met up with you guys and you guys

were talking about your time in school playing

Mid Valley. They never played it for some weird

reason and along the way I've heard of other

people playing that game in school. I don't understand

why my school, we didn't play it. I don't know

why. I did try and play it after Chuck told me

earlier in the week about playing it. And i can

only imagine what that's like you probably like

chuck is a crazy. I was just i got bored halfway

through i'm like i just kept going and going

and i'm like. What is this like i just kept.

I didn't i you know what simple people simple

time it's very different when you're nine years

old. you're like look at that auxin go look at

him 20 years later not as impressive i just didn't

understand it so about part way through i kind

of gave up on it unfortunately and i was like

yeah i'll just go back to whatever i was doing

It's all about killing animals though, that was

always part of it. I think that was the thing

is like you're in school and you're like, I'm

allowed to kill animals while I'm at school.

See, I think if I was going to go do something

like that, I just go pop in Red Dead Redemption

and go shoot out in the woods. Yeah, we couldn't

do that in fourth grade, I did not. Maybe they

do that nowadays probably like, you know kids

now and be like, yeah, we play Red Dead Red Dead

Red Dead Well, they're a little bit more updated

than that. They're playing something else since

they have the PlayStation 4 out Grand Theft Auto

5 probably Well, you can learn about a lot you

can learn about you know economic trading what

it's like to steal cars and have sex with hookers

and kill them for you You do that often Well,

hey for back then Oregon Trail was very educational

game And there was some strategy involved when,

you know, when your health gets poor, you have

to like rest and then everything and adjust your

food rations and all that stuff. But I don't

know. You have to put in like curse words for

the names and find that to be the most hilarious

thing ever when it's like Dick head dies of color

Dick got bit by a rattlesnake That's gotta hurt

snake on snake anything is it still is funny

now as it was back All righty, yeah, my week's

been kind of uneventful I did you are talking

to a co -room ball league champion. We had I

play this thing called boom ball, which is It's

kind of like hockey for less athletic people.

It's, it's played on ice and you don't have skates,

but you're on shoes and you play with like a,

it's like a huge foam ball instead of a puck.

So we had, we had our championship game and we're

kind of stunk though. Cause the league was limited

in the amount of games we could have because

the building that we play in and got like you

had major repairs. So we had one game for the

championship and the issue is we tied. It was

a nothing, nothing game. We couldn't do a shootout,

so it's like, you're just coaching. What? It

was like, yeah, I know. I was like, I feel like

participation trophy. It's like a trip back to

elementary school this week. Weak sauce. I mentioned

the Academy Awards and I did have the opportunity

to watch a movie that was just recently nominated

for an Academy Award. And I think deservingly

so. I wouldn't, I probably wouldn't rank it in

my top 10, but I think I could see why I got

nominated and it's the movie Selma. I don't know

if you guys have heard of this at all. It's about

a hot chick named Selma. Uh, it's very close

to what, it's about Martha Luther King Jr. So

hot chick right off the bat, good. Well, he did

enjoy that. I have heard that, yes. Uh, no, it's

about - He had some dreams. It takes place. About

pooping in a bucket. It takes place during the

civil rights movement and it's enduring. I would

have never guessed Martin Luther King I know

right it's called someone because it's about

this event that take took place in Selma, Alabama

where Martin Luther King jr. And his followers

traveled there to try to Rally for the Voters

Rights Act at that time. They did have the right

to vote But because of different regulations

that were put in place basically, you know African

-americans were able to vote so they went to

some Alabama to try to rally and get Pressure

the government especially in a Lyndon B. Johnson

at the time to pass this law passed laws to kind

of allow them to get the vote That's like the

central issue that it's like that said the event

that it's a trans on or centers on I should say

but it also gets into kind of just Martin Luther

King jr. In general in his life and what's kind

of interesting is that? There aren't really many

at all movies about Martha Luther King jr. You

documentaries or movies at all and it's kind

of like equate Selma a lot to Lincoln. I don't

know if you guys saw Lincoln at all, but it's

not like a biopic where it covers his entire

life. It's more just this one event in the process

of it. But you do get to learn a lot. And I think

what Selma does really well, it really humanizes

the character of Martin Luther King Jr. in a

way that really has not been done before. You

see him in ways that you really never have. And

when you think about it, like... I'm not Martin

Luther King jr. Someone who the footage we see

is always of him speaking You don't really see

many personal moments in this movie is full of

them. You kind of see him in Like ways we wouldn't

expect like he's very Questions a lot of what

he's doing. He has a lot of self -doubt You see

that he's not a perfect person like you see that,

you know There were some issues with his man

marriage and possible infidelity that took place

and I think what's interesting about it is that

That doesn't really demonize him or make you

respect him any less. It's more so just makes

him more of a human being, which was interesting.

The guy who plays him, David E. Yellow. Oh, does

a pizza plate. He did. He did. Uh, he he's actually

a British actor, but he was fantastic. He was,

it sounds cliche, but like you. Feel like you

are watching Martin Luther King jr. But not like

an impression sometimes when you see a movie

and it's about a historical figure you get stuck

doing kind of like a Impression of that figure

and you can never get around that and you can

never really get to in a true performance But

I think he really does and he doesn't remarkable

jobs actually surrounded by a lot of good performances

And I know people hate her and I think she can

be annoying but there is a small role for Oprah

in this and She I know I know but she is a legit

actress like she she's not she doesn't have a

huge role what the role she does have in the

scene she does have is actually one of the one

of the better scenes in the movie and What's

interesting to it? It goes through the process

of why they picked some Alabama and the reasoning

behind it it's and it's interesting because there's

a lot of political choices that were made like

some Alabama was picked on purpose because they

knew that the sheriff there was a bigot and he

was very uh prone to violence so that would help

their cause because they needed in order for

this to change they knew it wouldn't change internally

the change had to come externally so they needed

to rally uh and get People on their side and

to do that was through nonviolent protests. And

then if those protests are then attacked through

violent Reaction through the police. It's it

can rally people outside of the Selma, Alabama,

especially the president. So it's interesting

how they Would position themselves like this

and they even make a statement that there was

a cause that they had in a rally that they had

in like Albany and how it didn't work because

the sheriff there was intelligent and treated

them humanely. So no one really paid attention.

So it's kind of interesting in that aspect. We

don't even think about that was something they

actually needed in order for their cause to,

you know, really gain, gain steam. So it's, it

goes through how the entire event. And, uh, it's

really good. I mean, I know some people had some

issues with the way it treated Lyndon B. Johnson,

because he makes them out to be maybe a little

bit harsh. There's say argue a little harsh on

him. And when it comes to the civil rights, but

Think overall the LBJ does the light that is

shine on him is mostly positive It's more so

there is like a back -and -forth between him

and Martin Luther King and they have Kind of

debates on how exactly they should get this footage

right back, but you know LBJ telling him to wait

that he'll do it but he can't do it now because

of Different political issues and they're saying

they can't wait. So is this it's good back and

forth between Martin Luther King Jr. and Lyndon

B. Johnson. And I think I've gone through and

I've actually looked up some of the historical

accuracy of it. And it's pretty accurate for

the moment. There isn't much change throughout.

It is the type of movie someone's going to say

people are just going to nominate for best picture

because of the salvage commander and I could

see that but it's also Executed really well like

I don't think it's nearly as good as something

like 12 years of slave But it's it's well acted

well performed well directed. Uh, it's all movie

I think I liked it better than lincoln, but uh,

it's definitely a downer. So But in again downer

but inspirational too. I should say so I would

definitely uh Recommend it. It's one of the few

movies my wife and I've actually agreed on this

year So we've like agreed on nothing else except

for like this and if you so Dan what would I

know you mentioned about like they're not being

many Movies about Martin Luther King jr. Like

what are some other ones because I've never really

heard of any either. I Can't even think of any

honestly. I was looking them up and I couldn't

there's not much of any I guess what part of

it is the king state is very particular on giving

out right They weren't allowed to use his actual

speeches. They want to let them use the actual

word. So I can't even think honestly of one other

movie that covers the life of Martin Luther King

Jr. like this or at all, really. So this one

kind of by default becomes the definitive, I

guess, theatrical story. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They're

like we have Malcolm X where I think he, you

know, there's Ratchet on Martin Luther King Jr.

but like nothing that really focuses on him.

And I don't know why that is. I don't know if

it's just such that people are. Afraid to approach

that because there's so much like responsibility

there or it's because of the family themselves

where they don't They're very protective on one

information. They let people the family's just

racist. We all know it Well, I do know like Steven

Spielberg was also working on something Martin

Luther King Jr. Related so and interesting enough

it is yes when this is released the day before

this is released it is Martin Luther King Jr.

Jr. Day, so We all get the day except for me,

you know But uh, yeah, I would recommend it.

I do think it's a solid film I don't know if

I like I said, I don't know if I'd call it like

the best movie of the year I think there's movies

I thought were overall better But it's a it's

certainly an important film and it's worthy of

its accolades I would say if anything, I think

it could have got a few more at the Academy Awards

I think it like give it or oh, yeah, they oh,

yeah. Oh should have happened It is weird yeah,

I know you know it's weird though It is weird

when you see someone from the new kids on the

block play Martin Luther King jr.. But you don't

question it. You just go with it Just go with

it. Hey if Donnie Walberg wants to play that

character you just Jenna Jameson wants to play

the wife She married to one of them yeah, Donnie

I need to keep I thought that was I thought he

was married to Jenny McCarthy. Oh, yes, Jenny

McCarthy in my bed. Oh, yeah Same difference.

I don't know if you might I'm from Colorado cuz

you know the whole not giving you music So keep

keeping that theme going. But Greg, since this

has been kind of a downer movie, I apologize.

We don't necessarily cover films like this, but

it was worth discussing. What are you keeping

up to anything? Any watching? Well, I discovered

on Netflix that Netflix has one of the newer

Marvel cartoons out and that is the Hulk and

the Asians of Smash, which if you ask me, it

was quite possibly the best. animated stuff since

the 90s X -Men for Marvel to come out with. I'm

not saying that it's better than that, but I

thought it was really good. That's lofty praise.

Yeah, the animation was really good. The voice

work was pretty good. The stories are interesting

and they change it up a lot. So far, they did

a version of Planet of the Hulk where the leader

was the leader of Scar it's a car. Yeah, so they

definitely changed things up a lot from the comic

books But for some reason I really didn't mind

it too much It kind of worked for me the the

way that the storyline was going And it's a lot

of fun. They kind of do little interviews. They

do it kind of like a reality show where they

have like a nice background behind them and they

kind of talk about what's going on and everything

for a bombs webcam show for kind of like a YouTube

internet type of viewing the office. Yeah. Yeah.

And so it kind of gives it a nice. update modern

type of take on everything. It's a hulk with

brain power, so he's intelligent. It's got red

hulk, it's got a bomb, it's got scar, and then

their pet is devil dinosaur, which is kind of

interesting. But it's, it's a lot of fun. They've

got a lot of elements in there for kids. It gets

kind of a little goofy sometimes, but then they

have like all these references in there to that

adults would get. Like there was a reference

to Hal from 2001 going on. Why are you going

to shut me off, A -bomb? And so it's got one

of those things where it's for adults and kids,

makes a lot of animated stuff popular and really

accessible to everybody. So I thought it was

a really great take on it. And of course, there's

Stan Lee popping in every once in a while. He's

the mayor of the town that kind of is the only

town that praises the Hulk. And throughout the

whole thing, the point of the webcam show is

to show Hulk in a lighter light so people don't

think he's a monster. And you get some great

appearances by villains that you don't really

expect. It's just not like the leader, even though

he's in there and he kind of follows through

the whole season. You also get abomination. You

get Soran. You get... Yeah, Soran is in there.

That was one of the weirder ones, I thought,

that made an appearance in the show. And who

else was there? There were some interesting different

characters in there. And I like that also it

kind of went a little bit meta. There was a point

in the show where Abam says that he's dating

celebrity, super sexy celebrity Eliza Dusku,

and Eliza Dusku does the voice of She -Hulk.

So yeah, and they like he had a picture of her

in his wallet, like of them on vacation, a bomb

and Eliza Dushku. And she does the voice of She

-Hulk. And so that was kind of fun. And then

they they do team up with a bunch of your favorite

heroes. They team up with Spider -Man and they

team up with the version of Spider -Man that

is also the cartoon version that I also did enjoy.

and they team up with Guardians of the Galaxy.

That was probably around the time that the movie

was coming out, I'm assuming. It definitely adds

a lot of great stuff in there, and it was a lot

of fun, different take on it. And one of the

interesting things is one of the creative consultants

on this show is Dini, who did a lot of work and

a lot of writing on the 90s Batman animated series,

and he's one of the ones that made that show

so popular back in the day. So I think that's

a great get for Marvel to have on the show. So

when you say Spider -Man, does that take place

in the same universe as the other Spider -Man,

like Ultimate Spider -Man cartoon that's going

on? Yes, exactly. Because then you get Fury in

there every once in a while and he's mostly a

voice on camera and like through an intercom

system bossing around the Hulk sometimes. That's

a pretty funny show to the Spider -Man one. Yeah

sarcastic with his comments and stuff. Yeah,

and they also tie in supposedly to the Avengers

Show that is that is on as well Okay, I tried

it. I watched like the first 15 minutes of the

first like Avengers assemble one I was not digging

it that much, but would you say so? Hulk agents

is match is better than all those I'd say that

the Hulk is a little bit above the Spider -Man

I think just a little bit but I think that's

because I enjoy Hulk a little bit more than Spider

-Man just in general and I haven't really seen

I remember the just slightly older Avengers one

I haven't watched the the new newest one I don't

think but it's it's tough because I'm getting

those confused because they had a weird reboot

thing going on so yeah is it Is this hulk agents

of smash better than like the hulk show from

the 90s? Oh, yeah, definitely It is it is much

better than that one. But other than that, I

just watched I started watching um Season three

a game of thrones. I didn't get to finish it

in time for for the podcast But I I am definitely

enjoying it as much as the other seasons Khaleesi

still is The most awesome character and being

completely badass with how she is taking care

of everything and of course as you may all know

listening to this she is freaking absolutely

gorgeous and in this season as well as in real

life and everything it's it's What and there's

a lot of characters coming in and it's just amazing

for all these new characters coming in and they're

still keeping it interesting and it's very There's

a lot of stuff going on and I'm kind of sad in

the the latest Blu -ray package of the collection

for season 3 they did not give me a list of characters

like they did in the first season I'm like you

bastards that made it so nice to follow on everybody

Yeah, they do have like idea of an iPad because

they have like an app I think that you could

I do not have an iPad but I could probably look

up like a Game of Thrones wiki or something to

to keep up with that. I was gonna ask is Like,

I know it's been a while since you watched season

two, if it was difficult getting into. Because

it's not a show that's like going to slow down.

It's like, yep, you're going to have to remember.

Yeah, it wasn't too, too bad. I kind of remember

faces more than names. So I know I can. I think

I remember like four or five different names.

Yeah, yeah, like Kogar, Khaleesi, Tyron Lannister,

which there was an awesome thing with him. kind

of a love triangle, I guess you would say, going

on, but not really. Have you gotten to the red

wedding episode yet? I don't think I have gotten

to the red wedding. I think I know which character

that might involve, but I don't think I have

gotten to that. I'm interested in seeing your

reaction to that episode. You can cut this part

out cuz I I don't want to reveal anything to

anybody but is it the the marriage between Tyron

Lannister and Redheaded Stark girl, is that the

red wedding or talking about the lady in red

who's like a witch or something? Okay, okay,

I didn't I did not see that part then you'll

you'll know it when you see it and the definitely

the good characters that I enjoyed in the first

couple of seasons. I'm still enjoying now. And

I'm also enjoying some different relationships

that are developing throughout, especially Jamie

Lannister. I've been enjoying his development

a lot more. And I've also been enjoying Jon Snow's

love interest. I think that... The girl that

plays that character is great and does an excellent

job. And she is also quite gorgeous as well.

Still doesn't beat out Emilia Clarke, but...

Have you get to watch the South Park episode?

Yeah, I still haven't seen that one, Dan. I'm

sorry. I would say get through Game of Thrones

before you watch it because it not ruins it in

a bad way, but it's just like... It makes you

look at it a whole lot. Did season 4 come out

on Blu -ray yet? I have no idea. I think it's

out. It probably is. The new season is coming

out soon, so it usually comes out a few weeks

before the new premiere. But Game of Thrones,

if you still haven't gotten into it, I highly

recommend it. It's got a lot of great stuff,

got a lot of great character work. Uh development

and it makes me sad that I am probably doing

such a horrible job with unknown, but I am just

a novice so Well, yeah, well you could be like

george rr martin and takes like eight years right

now But it takes me forever to write something

too. So I feel this pain Alrighty, uh chuck what

you've been up to I have been up to A little

bit, I guess Random something completely random.

I watched a movie this week and really really

went out of my comfort zone as far as like movie

genres that I usually watch. And it kind of.

No. But this actually happened by accident. I

couldn't get to sleep one night, so I was flipping

through the channels. And for whatever reason,

I stopped on TCM, which is Turner Classic Movies.

And there's this really old, you know, black

and white film. That showed this man like getting

released from an asylum and he was like waiting

to kind of walk free and everything so like just

the the dialogue and everything really grabbed

my attention and so I kind of kept watching like

I can't really explain what grabbed me per se

but the movies actually like set in England during

World War two and It was it was made in 1944.

It's called the Ministry of Fear Nice was directed

by Fritz Lang. You've probably heard of him.

Yes, I have. It's one of one of his better movies

from what I read. He made a lot of movies during

that time, the 40s and 50s and stuff. But I was

really surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie.

I don't really want to give too much away because

part of part of what made me enjoy it so much

was just kind of being taken by surprise and

everything. I guess I do have to give a little

tidbit of kind of what it's about, but It's basically

like, some people have called it a noir film,

but other people say it's not a noir film, but

it's kind of like a crime drama slash thriller

type of thing. And it's actually an adaptation

of a novel by Graham Green. I have no idea who

that is, but apparently he's a famous author.

And it's essentially, you know, like I said,

the guy released from an asylum after he's kind

of served his prison sentence for two years.

And he basically stumbles into a Nazi spy ring

that's rooted right in London. Like you do. Yeah,

you know, occasionally it happens to everybody.

I mean, those Nazis will pop up. Like you've

got to keep that happened to me about a month

ago. I just randomly popped up in a Nazi spy

ring. It was it was horrible. You just you just

you just spray some cholera on them and they'll

go. Is that how you do it? I had to punch them

all in the face. Yeah, see but then they'll come

back but cholera they'll get scared and like

then they'll spread it to their to their hive

and they'll all get It's a good tip damn good

tip. Yeah, they take it back to the rest of them

But yeah, it's uh, you know, like I said kind

of a crime drama type thing, but It I was really

surprised how much I enjoyed this because I usually

don't care much for older movies at all Like

I guess with the exception of like Wizard of

Oz and maybe like a few select other few Wizard

of Oz creeps me out. By the way, that's a Fun

fact it is a bit creepy, but it's a it's a classic.

I can't deny that But I got really excited during

this movie for some reason I was just like captivated

throughout the whole thing like it really keeps

you like on the edge of your seat and It stars

Ray Milan. I'm not sure if you've heard of him

at all. I really wasn't familiar with him, but

he's he's been in a ton of movies I I am DB'd

him and He's been in like a ton of old -school

movies and everything but The guy did a great

job. I mean acting from everybody is is pretty

great and The thing really just holds up well

like for being from that time period like It's

like usually I find those movies to be like slow,

kind of long winded. And yeah, it's really slow

in those movies. I agree. Like even in real life

back then, everything was kind of slow. I think

we could all, you know, kind of agree for that.

Like everything nowadays is like we're used to

so much faster pace and like strong action sequences

and all this stuff. But this isn't like. A modern

movie by any means, but it's not slow either

like it's very like intellectual. I would say

like you really have to follow it till you know

what's going on. It surprises you at every turn.

So this is something I would highly recommend

checking out. Unfortunately, I couldn't find

it on Netflix, but if you do happen to see it

on. You know TCM or something like that one night.

Definitely sit down and watch it because it is

fantastic. They usually repeat a lot of movies

too, I believe. Yeah. And it is available to

rent on Amazon. So I did. OK, cool. Yeah, I would

definitely Rick. I. If you don't hear me say

anything else in this podcast, watch Ministry

of Fear. It's my it's my official recommendation

of the month. Yeah, I've watched a few Fritz

Lang movies mostly uh, and probably one of these

most known for which is I think it you might

like dial M for murder about No, okay. It's just

called them. I think dial M for murder is a Hitchcock.

Yeah, it's Hitchcock. But Ray Milan was in that

I guess But M is it has the guy who? It's about

M from James Bond It is but no it's about it

takes place in this German city as trade em controlled

by magneto. Yes It is a child murders going on

so they're trying to like discover who's killing

all these kids and it's just a huge investigation

and like the town kind of Goes a little bit insane

because they don't know who's doing it and then

it's just like an investigation into it But it's

it holds up pretty well and it has Peter Laurie

in it and she's you've probably seen him because

he looks he's been alive like in Maltese Falcon

a few other movies he Casablanca You know, he's

got a really creepy look to him. Have you seen

Casablanca, Dan? That's like a movie buffs movie.

Like I feel like every Casablanca and I'm always

like never seen it. Have no interest in seeing

it. Like I like it because I but also I love

Humphrey Bogart. He's like the ultimate. Talking

about ass. He's kind of like the ultimate badass.

It's good. I like cast me See, I'm more of a

Cary Grant fan if I'm gonna go old -school actor.

I'm gonna go Cary Grant Yeah, Cary Grant. Grant

probably has a little bit more class. I'll be

bar guard. It's more like the bruiser Who can

you who can you equate him to that's like and

kind of nowadays? I don't know. He's more a working

-class type of guy like Maybe like more like

a Matt Damon, maybe like a Larry the Cable guy

Let's do a remake with that negative I can't

think I can't think of someone who's who he would

go with but yeah, I do like cast a blanket It's

it's good. It's definitely I could see why it's

an all -time classic for sure It's it has so

many quotes that you've heard and you realize

like like all these quotes that you heard are

in that corner No one puts baby in the corner

Every time you hear a bell, an angel gets its

wings. I'll be back. All those moves, all those

things. I have 12 percent of a plan. Exactly,

exactly. I am Groot. It's weird if they come

from Casablanca. But yeah, very nice. Very cool.

All right, anything else before we take a break

and I didn't even get into what we're doing or

for our second segment But I guess I can get

into that now for our second segment. We're gonna

lot waiting for you for those Just take it in

and welcome back. Today, we are going to do another

classic game. One of the first ones that we've

ever did, and it is called Sequel Reboot or Destroy.

For those that, you know, you've probably heard

something similar like Murder, Death, Kill, or

Merry... Merry Fuck Kill. There you go. There

you go. It's kind of like that. So basically

what we'll be doing is giving out different franchises

or TV shows or what have you, and deciding if

we should make a sequel to that given property,

reboot it completely. or destroy the idea, leave

it as, and go on to something new. So we're gonna

run the game on a different one from stuff from

yesterday, today, and forever, basically. But

I'm gonna start with one from classic 80s properties.

We actually even have a... We even have a...

Podcast on geocast radio dedicated to this cartoon

and that is he man I don't know if you guys were

into it at all as a kid There was also that movie

that was made to with Dolph Lundgren. I don't

know and there was even a reboot series in like

the early 2000s I know that people Some enjoy.

I don't know. I don't know what the overall opinion

on that series is I was never personally a big

he -man fan, but Do you guys think maybe that

you know? We're in the land of 80s comeback turtles

was last year is a time to maybe bring back he

man for a new generation or Maybe sequel eyes

the old series in some way or destroy the idea

and not touch he man Chuck I'll start with you

because I know you said you are a fan of the

series in the past So what how do you think we

should handle this cartoon? I mean I was a little

bit I was a casual fan I guess you could say

I did have some toys and stuff like I had all

the action figures and everything but Yeah, I

got passed on some toys to remember like not

knowing as a kid where they came from there were

just really weird creatures Yeah, I mean if she

asked me like to name the characters like I can't

Human Skeletor a grocery store, there was this

very tall, very skinny, very mean man, and I

used to call him Skeletor, and that caught on,

and he got very pissed, and he couldn't figure

out who called him Skeletor and started it off.

Nice. And then he did Honda commercials. Yeah,

did, along with Gumby. Very weird. So would you,

being a casual fan, do you think maybe we can

sequelize it or reboot it? What's your opinion?

I would be all for a reboot, honestly. I think

if there's a way to give it a little bit more

of a modern feel, I know it's kind of set in

a more of an ancient sort of time period, I guess.

I don't know. It's one of those weird things

like Star Wars. It's like a long time ago, yet

they have this futuristic technology. I don't

know. Yeah, it's like steampunk. Yeah, it's all

the heavy metal magazines combined But I would

definitely be for a reboot I think I think you'd

do some great things with them like I mean animated

shows are kind of hit -and -miss nowadays but

like Greg mentioned with agents of smash and

stuff like we do get some good ones every now

and then so I think if they get the right writers

and You know really hit the animation on the

head. I think it could be a success Nice Greg,

what do you think never really seen it? It's

the internet doesn't matter you give it. Oh,

I can that's awesome I've never really been too

into he man. I'm not into half naked men writing

battle cats sigh They got to be full naked or

you're not in Yeah, and a wine clock, you know,

cuz I didn't experience that at the Baltimore

comic -con one year Hey Yeah, we can't forget

we shall never forget the guy who cosplayed as

Tarzan who should not have He would be the the

lead role for he meant He'd be he meant if he

let himself go I'll say for the people that enjoy

it that it could be Rebooted, but I'll just not

watch it to be quite honest. You know, you'll

you'll you'll pass it, you know, you'll let them

watch it. But enjoy. How can you go wrong? How

can you grow wrong with a gigantic tiger that

you can ride and a humongous sword? See, if I'm

if I'm going to watch something like that, I'll

just watch heavy metal and then get the animated

boobs involved. So. Well, what if the rebooted

version had head I'd be totally in but they what

if they were on the tiger though? Yeah, I'm not

into bestiality or what are they called fuzzies?

Yeah, what if it's like he man when he's older

as he man boobs Nice, that is so good. He has

to adjust his costume so that bar in the front,

like, covers more. Nice. I'm actually going to

go. He's super jealous of Skeletor, and that's

why they're fighting all the time, because Skeletor

has no boobs whatsoever. We're butchering the

mythology of this. We're going to get a lot of

hate mail. I'll get some more because I'm going

to actually destroy the idea. Because like I

said, I never watched it as a kid. And when I

did, I just I could not get into it, especially

the 80s version of it. I just found it so ridiculous

and corny. And I always thought he man looked

really dorky. So. Yeah, I want to go destroy

it. I'm not I don't I think it's one property

from the 80s We can let die. So sorry to all

the tales of a 30 attorney of fans out there

But uh, I'm gonna say destroy apologize, but

I did it. I said it Again the powers of Grayskull

were not enough to save it Let's move on to another

TV series this one. I know we're all big fans

of Chuck you've been named it as one of your

favorite TV shows of all time and that is home

in ice. No 1990s TGIF. No, it wasn't TGIF. But

uh, yeah, it is By the way, does anybody else

like gonna be like ABC? What the hell are you

doing TGIT? What the fuck? You see who the hell

is gonna watch Tidget? But, uh, but yeah, so

I know before we were, we were started recording,

we were talking about, I guess Tim Allen has

a new TV series out now called last man standing

or something, but his wife from the show did

come from, from home improvement and came on

to do a little guest spot. And they made jokes

about how the old show and all that great stuff.

But could you see having Tim Allen come back

and do a home improvement like 20 years later?

We've seen it done before, like Bill Cosby did

it with the Cosby show. Supposedly, I put up

air quotes there supposedly. Wink, wink, nudge,

nudge, say no more. Yeah, so but I know. Anyway,

I'll get out of that as quickly as possible.

So it's been done before with different with

with different series where there's been a big

break, we've come back and try to do it again.

Maybe even reboot it for a new generation with

different characters and kind of same idea, but

just done a little bit differently or just, you

know, it was, it is, and maybe we shouldn't,

we shouldn't try to do home improvement again.

Chuck, I started with you last time. So Greg,

I'll start with you here. Personally, I think

that he's already got a reboot kind of version

of it with the glass man standing, but instead

of having three boys, he's got three girls. Instead

of being infatuated with tools. He's more infatuated

with sports goods kind of like because he works

for like a Dick's sporting goods store I'm so

pretty much the same thing. Yes It's pretty much

the same thing, but the jokes aren't as good

and it I don't think it's quite as slapstick

But at least he has an attractive daughter in

this one, even though she has weird bangs Yeah,

I don't think we really need it. So I'd go with

destroy. Oh, no. Chuck, what say you? I know,

I know it holds a special place in your heart.

So but, you know, do you think bringing it back

would be sacrilegious or would you want to see

these characters? I honestly think I think we

should destroy it. I can't do it as well. Oh,

no. I think it's just. It was too special at

the time. I don't think doing anything now would

do it justice like I really don't think there's

a way to Come close to I guess the level that

it was at before Like like all the jokes have

been done. Like I don't really know what what

else you could do You definitely couldn't get

the same actors. So you'd have to get Probably

different actors and then you'd have essentially

Yeah, you could get him probably. So if you have

like, if you don't have like the same cast, you

essentially have like the show that he is now,

Last Man Standing. Wasn't one of the kids in

jail or something like that, or maybe I think

it was somebody else. Had an offense of some

sort. But Wilson is definitely passed away at

this point. Yeah. So I'm actually gonna I guess

I'll be the lone lone person here But I'm gonna

say sequel but do it not necessarily a series

But I'm thinking maybe like a TV movie and you

mentioned Wilson passed away So maybe they can

like come back for like the funeral back from

the dead It's gonna be called zombie Wilson and

He's gonna of any if any character that uh, you

know of any TV series I would think Wilson we

wouldn't be one that would somehow be able to

find a way to come back from the dead But but

yeah, I think I'm thinking just I'd like to see

like what these characters are like grown up

a little bit No, I think you can get the actors

for one. I will be boring as always Yeah, I want

to talk here for seeing that where it's like

a TV show a little bit in the future and seeing

what happens. But, you know, maybe maybe you

didn't learn your lesson from Saved by the Bell,

the college years. Hey, hey, that was gold. It

was that was just too soon. They needed to wait

until Dustin Diamond was in jail. Or how about

Girl Meets World now, which is like, you know,

according to Panger, like grown up as the parents.

Yeah, I have not I watched the first episode

just out of like obligation and then I'm like,

yeah, I'm not I'm not It's nothing like Boy Meets

World. It's like way too Disney channel ish Yeah,

I was watching Boy Meets World the other day

because I was like on in the morning. I'm like

It's it is kind of corny, but it's still like

not as like peppy. I guess I don't know. It's

just I don't know. I feel like Girl Meets World.

I'm like I feel Dirty watching the show does

not I feel like it's an appropriate watching

teenage girls trying to I think they're even

younger teenage dance. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah,

there were like 12 or something. I don't know.

Let's get quickly as possible. And let's move

on to a movie. We talked about TV. Let's get

into a movie. And this is kind of one of those

franchises that once you think it's dead, it

comes back and some say maybe We didn't need

to come back not too long ago and that was indiana

jones and the last film obviously people hated

interesting though, it made tons of money and

has A positive rating on rotten tomato. So it's

kind of funny like we think about everyone hating

it but For some reason did well and it was critically

successful So could you see a maybe Indiana Jones

coming back for another sequel? You know Harrison

Ford is in the new Star Wars movie. Is he trying

to just rekindle that flame all over again? Destroying

that idea or rebooting it with a new person taking

over the realm I mean wheat there was the young

Indiana Jones TV series and which is I Was watching

that that's pretty decent. That's more like history

channel type stuff of Like a kid show type of

thing, but it was really good. Yeah. I mean,

so someone has played the character before. So

Chuck, I'll start with you here. Would you mind

seeing the sequel or reboot or anything for the

Indiana Jones franchise? I would, I think I would

probably make a sequel, another sequel. I would

do more of like, like passing down the reins

to like a new A new lead role. I think I would

kind of leave Harrison Ford out of it at this

point. Just make sure, you know, not passing

it down. No, definitely not him. I'm not sure

who would be a good fit for a role like that.

You want to pick somebody young, but not not

like annoyingly young, like not someone like.

I like Zac Efron or some crap like that. I don't

think Zac Efron is that young at this point.

Well, no, he's like 20s, but still. I actually

could kind of see Zac Efron doing that. I disagree

that he's too young, but I certainly disagree

that he is good for that part. Enjoyed he was

he was decent in that awkward moment I think

he's kind of I could see him getting rid of that

stigma of the Disney star in a good five six

years I know it seems crazy. He's been trying

to do that for five or six years already. It's

Yeah, I think it's finally it's finally it happened

like Ryan Gosling and happened when he was able

to do it The Mickey Mouse Club like decades ago

I know, give Zac Efron decades and then we'll

do it. I mean, and I don't mean young. I mean,

like immature. Like, I know he's done some mature

movies like I've. What's the one, the lucky one

or whatever? Yeah, it was decent. It was OK.

Chick flick. But just the what's the one he did

with Seth Rogen? Like where he's in college and

everything. Yeah, I didn't see that, but it looked

kind of dumb. I like it. Sorry. No. I didn't

know this. I didn't know I'd be like defending

Zac Efron tonight. I did not know that. You never

know where we're going to go on this show. I

don't know who else I would pick, really. But

I think I think it'd be good to kind of pass

the torch of Indiana Jones. There's always a

place for like that sort of raw adventure and

discovery. Like everybody likes that stuff, no

matter what generation you come from. So I think

there's always going to be a place for it. Greg,

what do you think? I think reboot. I think it's

just, from the last one, it's too hard to pass

the torch. It's a difficulty, especially seeing

Harrison Ford still as Indiana Jones. It's difficult

to see him that old. It just kind of kills your

childhood a little bit and it's tough to see

him as that character being that old. And that

movie definitely jumped the shark. So I think

you need a fresh start. That refrigerator scene

just killed me when I saw that. That was so upsetting

when I saw it. It didn't jump the shark. Yeah,

the fridge, yes. Interesting. So actually, you

know what I'm going to say? I'm going to say...

That we should double destroy and not only destroy

the idea of doing anything else with the franchise

But also destroy the last movie. So we're only

left with Because you have the perfect trilogy

after you end with you're just trying to catch

up the amount of destroys I have I Am trying

to you're leading a league in this. I know I'm

the world's conqueror of sequel No, I just Reaches

that lost Argus there holds a very special place

in my heart. It's like I to me one of the if

not the best Easily the best action -adventure

movie of all time. I even like the third film

a lot I think it's nearly as good Temple of Doom.

It's all right. But uh, yeah, the fourth one

was awful and like we mentioned I just think

Harrison Ford's kind of lost it at this point

and I don't I Don't know if I could see anyone

taking that role and being able to make it into

something new do something else. I mean Indiana

Jones in itself was a take on classic serial

characters So I think there's ways of doing something

that you can maybe do it along those lines, but

doing okay I have a good idea for a replacement

Just came to me Okay, Dominic Cooper who plays

Howard Stark in Captain America movie Huh interesting

seems kind of little small yeah worry though

Though I mean you can make him I mean Harrison

Ford it actually isn't as stoic of a good Kind

of voice for that it's got a time period got

the accent, you know, I think that by the way

I thought the second episode of agent Carter

was that it was was pretty decent Yeah Yeah,

I think it I didn't know didn't first one turned

I just I barely watch TV when it's a on like

I just wait till later kind of didn't system

being difficult Dan like me likes to binge watch

because we forget when it's on. But I thought

it was really good and definitely better than

the first episode. It's slow at times, but then

when it gets in gear, there's some major ass

kicking going on. Yeah, and I thought the story

for Jarvis was quite interesting, that reveal.

Which wasn't too big of a reveal, but it was

an interesting story. What's that, Dan? Sequel

reboot or destroy agent Carter? Sequel It's interesting,

it's not what I expected but it's good I always

segueed from Indiana Jones days in Carter You're

welcome people. Thanks to my recommendation of

Dominic Cooper. So All right. Well, you know

what also making a good Indiana Jones Ron Perlman,

so let's segue to Hellboy. Seriously, let's segue

to Hellboy. Let's segue to Hellboy. Hellboy,

we've had Hellboy 1 and Hellboy 2. We haven't

got to Hellboy 3 yet. There's been a lot of rumors

and it's coming out, it's gone away. Ron Perlman's

busy doing other movies for Gizmo del Toro. Would

you want to see Hellboy 3, a sequel to it? Maybe.

Give it to someone new, someone different, seeing

a reboot of it, or is the time for Hellboy come

and gone? Greg, I'll start with you here because

I know Hellboy, you probably like it the most

out of all of us, and you've read the comics

and watched some of the cartoons. What do you

think about doing a Hellboy sequel? I think sequel.

I definitely enjoy Ron Perlman on the role, and

especially all the other folks in their roles.

I think they were heading in a great direction.

The second movie was definitely much better than

the first. And from reading the comics, I think

there are stories in there that they could take

from and characters that they could get in there

that are really intriguing, that are just a gold

mine to put on the screen. And I definitely love

Gizmo's movies. Even though I haven't kept up

with his TV shows, I still think Gizmo is great.

And so I'd like to see another one. I'm definitely

a fan of that character and the movies, especially

the second one. The first one was OK, but the

second one really did it for me. Yeah, and regarding

the strain, don't worry about catching up with

it. It's even got worse as I left it. Yeah, it

just it was I was better off with the book Yeah,

I stopped watching it. I got to like the sixth

episode. I'm like, I need to stop hating myself

and watching this show Just read the book dance.

It was yeah. I know. All right, Chuck What do

you think sequel reboot or destroy? Hellboy?

Hmm. I'm gonna go. I'm actually gonna go with

sequel. I think they should do number three I

really really enjoyed number two. Thanks to Greg,

of course You're welcome, sir. I couldn't leave

you with the bad taste of the first one in your

mouth. I know you did. Yeah. Because the ending

of the first one is just kind of false flat.

Yeah, I really didn't really care for the first

one that much. That's why I was kind of skeptical,

but I trusted your wise opinion, so I went with

the second one. Yeah, usually number two does

leave a better taste. Oh, gosh. Who does number

two work for? Two guys, one movie. No, I really

liked like I know Del Toro did it who also did

Blade 2 and he brought over Luke Goss who played

Nomak in Blade 2 to play was it Prince Nuada

or something like that? Yeah, Nuada's, I think

that's close. Nuda? I don't know. Nuda's Kalanias.

But I like that guy for some reason he's a cool

actor. Really liked him in that and I thought

the story was great. So I say only if del Toro

could do number three I would say sequel and

then del Toro has like the great like colors

for scenery like it's always an interesting like

cinematic Photography like situation going on.

I especially enjoy the colors that are infused

in his movies Yeah, you really can't you contrast

like the darkness of Hellboy with a lot of great

like yeah Like upbeat colors, especially with

the like second one like you mentioned and i'll

make it three for three I would love to see a

hellboy three like you mentioned I thought I

thought who two was a lot better the action in

story I think got a lot better and I It was like

del Toro had a better command of you know what

he wanted to do And I think most of it became

the the villain was a lot more interesting than

the one in the first one so I don't know a lot

about the lore of hellboy like what other characters

they can come from but you know the Comic is

around for a long time and it's still around.

I love to see him Yeah, I love to see him take

that character on and I promen is born. Oh, yeah

So I just hope you know, he can do it one more

time before you know, it's becomes too too hard

for him So cuz I know it's like, you know, 15

hours of makeup or something It's like crazy

headed the timing of the makeup down a little

bit further than 15 hours for the second one

I want to say but yeah It's still it's yeah,

it's a long time like half a day. Just they had

done a 14 probably But yeah, so interesting very

cool, but you know during that time you could

listen to talking circles and podcasts So it

would be fine. So nothing to worry about Thanks.

Anyways. Alright, let's move on to another classic

comic series. But when I say comic I mean You

know sunday comics are I guess the old style

comic and this is one that greg you brought up

and that is dick tracy the one of the most classic

comic characters of all time and There was a

movie to dick tracy back in the 90s done by warren

bady who's interestingly Who was interestingly

enough having another movie come out this year

for the first time since like 1998 Yeah, it's

about howard hughes another howard hughes movie

I love the aviator So yeah, it's coming out later

this year supposedly would you like to see a

sequel to Dick Tracy a Reboot to the series or

maybe like Dick Tracy is you know, I'm not gonna

work for today's generation Chuck. What do you

think? What would you like to see done with it?

Well, I should probably watch the first one first

Chuck I really don't know much about Dick Tracy

at all I know it's kind of if if I told you a

new Dick Tracy movie was coming out would that

interest you at all? Guess a little bit. Yeah,

I mean, it's kind of like a there's a noir type

detective kind of thing Plus his villains are

all like garbage pail characters Yeah, I mean,

yeah, I mean if you put it that way I would be

you know, I'd probably be willing to check it

out, but it's not like I'm clamoring for them

to make a sequel or anything so Fair enough.

Fair enough. You kind of the same way for me

for he man. Yeah All right, Greg the person who

owns Dick Tracy, what would you like to see done

with this? It wasn't the greatest of movies.

I'm not sure how they would play it update it

really And I don't think you could do a sequel.

I think Warren Beatty I don't know how old he

is, but I have a feeling he's got to be up there

hundred and oh shit But he's got to be up there

in age, so I don't think he could do a sequel.

And I don't want to see Madonna in a movie, so

I don't want to see those arms waving around.

I would do a reboot, but they'd have to do it

the right way. It would have to be a proper script

and everything. And I think they'd have to do

it on the cheaper side to make it viable and

worth the risk for The production companies and

stuff and, and, uh, the movie distributors and

whatever else goes on. I don't know anything

about the movie business. What you're saying

is you would, you would, uh, fund it. I'd fund

it if it was cheap and the right price and everything.

I have very little amount of money. You would,

you would pledge at least $32. Yes, $32 sounds

like the perfect amount. For me, when it comes

to the Dick Tracy franchise, I think a reboot

would work if done right. I know there have been

some series that have been kind of along the

same lines. There was a spirit not too long ago,

and that was kind of awful and didn't do well

since City came out last year, which I thought

was great in the spirit, though. Not acting wise,

I really didn't care. But if you put that on

mute with Eva Mendes on there, it sounds really

good. It was really good. Yes. Yeah, you got

to see a whole new side of her. Oh, yeah You

got to see all the great sides of her All right

But no, I think there's a potential there I think

you could do it if it's tough because like you

said the 90s TV movie was not not that good But

I think partially because maybe we didn't have

the technology really you have to fight find

that right Middle ground of where you can be

cartoonish, but not too ridiculous. So I would

like to see another go -around because I think

you know that probably that's been around forever

So I feel like we should get a good Jake Tracy

movie I don't know maybe it may maybe take it

like super serials get rid of the style and Just

use the name really or something like that in

the character. Yeah, that might be interesting

Alright, let's move on to another TV series and

this one actually came back Then there was a

great deal because it is now on Netflix. You

can watch every episode of this series There's

over like 517 episodes or something like that

But uh one of the biggest sitcoms of all time

one of the biggest sitcoms of the 90s and that

is friends Chuck I know you enjoyed that series

at the time or am I mistaken? Yeah, I enjoy some

of the episodes I'm not like a diehard or anything,

but I mean occasionally if it reruns on I'll

check it out, but Yeah, I think it's like a good

show to put on if you're like working on something

else. Yeah That's a good way to put it down My

favorite episodes are the ones where, like, they

show flashbacks of all the other episodes. Like,

the funniest moments of each one. Like, that's

what I kind of like. I know Jimmy Kimmel's done

a few skits recently with Jennifer Anderson,

and they had, like, a friends reunion, mini reunion,

and a lot of people have been clamoring to see

some sort of, like, friends reunion movie or

TV show. Or maybe, like, you know, you can take

that concept of friends and apply it to a new

generation or, you know. Just let it die and

not talk about it anymore. Chuck, since you said

you did like it a little bit, would you mind

seeing it come back in a new form? Or do you

think it's kind of had it run its course and

should just, you know, be seen in rerun? Yeah.

I think, uh, I think I would destroy it to be

honest. Um, it, I mean, it, it was great. And

in its time, I think, what does it run for like

10 seasons or something? Something like nine,

10. I don't know. But well, my question is. Is

there any truth to the Friends movie that's coming

out? No, it's been rumored forever, but it's

just one of those things that's like, it's coming

out. I saw a trailer for it, but I don't know

if that was a spoof thing. It was. Yeah, it was

a fake fan trailer. They take they take things

from like Joey, not Joey, but Matt LeBlanc show

on Showtime and like they take all these different

things from all shows and they've made a trailer

out of it. So no, it's not it's not actually

coming out. OK, as of right now. OK, good. Yeah,

because even watching that trailer, a lot of

the same things didn't make sense because Chandler

and Monica weren't married and stuff. She knocked

on his door and he's like, oh, hey, what are

you doing here? And I'm like, wait a minute,

they were married in the show. So I kind of wondered

if that was a phony trailer, but I guess I didn't

have enough interest to research it. I think

it's best enjoyed as reruns, to be honest. A

lot of those people have moved on to better things.

I think jennifer aniston was the only one that

had like a Highly successful career beyond that

i'm, not really sure what any of the other people

are up to I think matt leblanc is was going to

be on like an episode of uh conan or some of

one of those late night shows like one of these

coming weeks, but He's had I mean he's been like

uh, like I said, he's a show episodes on on showtime,

which has been mildly successful and Lisa Kudrow

has a show called The Comeback, which has been

highly regarded. Matthew Perry, not so much.

David Schwimmer, he's done some independent movie

directing and he's done stuff that's more small

scale. And Courtney Cox has that show on TVX.

Oh gosh, that show's horrible. Yeah. In speaking

of Skeletor, you do have Courtney Cox, because

she's slowly turning into Skeletor. Oh gosh,

she looks so terrible. And uh, who was the other

one in Jennifer Anderson? She's probably yeah,

like you said had the best success in movie She

was almost she was just nominated for a Golden

Globe and there was a lot of push to get her

nominated for an Oscar for this year for this

movie cake Which I haven't seen but people have

been saying she was good in it But uh, yeah,

so they've had like all different types of successes

in some small ways Apparently, I know a lot about

the Friends cast and I don't even know why. But

Greg, what say you? I watched the series a little

bit. It was never the greatest thing ever for

me. It was funny. It was amusing. But like you

said, it would be something good if there's nothing

else on and you're doing some work and kind of

have it in the background. So for me, I would

just destroy it. I don't think you can. Rekindle

that that same magic again. So I think you just

leave it how it is in people's mind Yeah, I I'm

gonna go with the story as well I just when you

go back and watch that shows very much a product

of its time and I feel like none None of those

actors want to come back. So if they had come

back, it'd be very just awkward and not work

It's been too long and seeing them trying to

do those characters. I just I don't know. They've

just been Plus the whole, like you said, the

product of his time, the whole dynamic of socializing

has changed today. So if they did it today, it'd

just be people, it would just be like cuts to

different people texting. They wouldn't even

be meeting in a coffee shop. It's like friends.

It's like, you know, I think it, like I said,

it's a, you know, it's your basic sitcom. But

I don't really think we need anything else and

I do not see it working for today's generation

for like a new sequel when What was really kind

of risque back then is really tame now So and

they did try to do a different take on it called

with this show called like couplings, which was

it failed miserably So they've all already been

intense and I think you do see kind of its influence

on shows But like I would say something like

new girl has friend tendencies, but it's done

a lot better and Can I get away from the classic

format of the sitcoms? Because I'm not a big

fan of like the three camera like laugh track

type of sitcoms personally. All right. So this

will be the last one. We talked about one franchise

from Steven Spielberg. Let's talk about another

one. And we had Godzilla last year come back.

And I was wondering if maybe we're in the mood

for another beast from the ocean to make a return.

And that is Jaws. There have been. A lot of sequels

to jaws and so much so I don't have you know

There's been a lot of talk about back to the

future and it being in 2015 In 20 in that there

was jaws 6 so and it would be app Acropoda maybe

bring back jaws for a sequel Or, you know, maybe

reboot it for a new generation. Uber driver is

still alive. He can come back and do his character

that he was then. Or, you know, are we done with

that franchise and we just watch the old one?

Chuck, I don't know if you were fan of the old

one or not, but, uh, Jesus Christ. I just, I

just died a little inside. I was just ignoring

him for a while. I was like, I'm like, I was

wondering how long he'd keep it going. And then

there you go. The only way to deal with that

sort of thing that Greg was doing is just like

you would a real shark and just punch it square

in the nose. Sorry, Greg, but it was unfortunate.

Unfortunately, we're on Skype, so I can't. Do

you have big black eyes by any chance? No. OK.

Who who's who's going first? You can go ahead.

Oh, boy. Let's see. There's far as I know, there's

been. Four JAWS movies. Yeah, I think JAWS one,

two and three and then JAWS revenge. That's when

the shark agents like magical powers and learns

how to get the shark learns kung fu and it's

taken up in a tornado. Yeah. Oh, boy. You know

what? And I've seen I've seen the first one,

obviously, I've seen the second one. I think

I've seen parts of the third one. Haven't seen

any of the fourth one. so i really don't know

where they left the franchise i don't really

know where they left off but uh i don't think

you can kind of keep continuing something like

that in my opinion so i think if you're going

to do anything maybe a reboot because it is kind

of aged by now i mean that came out in 75 so

you look at something that's like 40 years later

now so uh i i think you can do a pretty successful

reboot on that probably Greg, what say you? I

see. Yeah, I think I agree with Chuck. Reboot

is the way to go because they did definitely

leave it weird with the shark trying to get revenge

on the family. It's just really weird and you

don't want to try and retcon that. I don't know

how you would retcon that, so I think it's easier

just to reboot. Time travel. Yes, time travel.

It's actually a Terminator shark. It's the T

-3000 that came back in time to hunt down the

Brody's. I think a reboot would actually do pretty

well, especially with all the shark stories that

you hear. Any more of like the the girl surfer

girl lost her entire arm and whatever So we need

the other side of that instead of a girl getting

redeemed will not redeemed but fighting Against

the world's and setbacks We need somebody just

to get eaten by a shark instead of an upbeat.

We don't want to lose an arm. We need a hand

I don't know. Sometimes when you see an arm,

you want the rest of the body. You know, finger

food isn't, you know, sometimes you need more.

Has anyone seen Sharknado? Oh, the first and

second. Oh, because I haven't seen it. What's

I mean, what's that whole thing? What's going

on there? It's trying to do a birdemic. If you're

gonna watch one of them, I'd definitely say the

first one. The second one gets a little bit too

involved with its own popularity. So yeah, definitely

check out the first one if you're gonna check

out any of them. But it's pretty bad and just

Tara Reid is hilarious because her acting is

atrocious. She does not want to be there. And

the CGI is terrible and the story is just Bizarre

and the logic is awful. So It's it's a bad version

of birdemic Good to know. Yeah, I I've not watched

sharknado, but I've listened to the how to which

is good. I listen to that. Yeah Yeah, I feel

like why even bother I just wouldn't listen.

Yeah, that was good I'm going through those again.

I see a similar with Indiana Jones. I don't think

we need to reboot it because I think the old

one still holds up remarkably well. I mean, yes,

some of the special facts maybe like aren't as

good today. But I did. I wonder if like a show

a movie just based upon a shark would work with

people now that we have stuff like I don't have

to do multiple sharks in the water. Yeah. So

I would I would I would just go with the story.

I think instead of just. Go back and watch the

original because it's really fantastic and I

would love to see it in the theater. So, you

know, it's my opinion. They did sort of do a.

I mean, it wasn't related to Jaws in any way,

but it was like a different take on sharks. That

was Deep Blue Sea, which was pretty terrible,

too. Plus their shark week. Yeah. Yeah. But it's

really obsessed about and I don't understand

that. Yeah, I mean. Thomas Jane was the best

part of deep blue sea, but uh that and Samuel

a Jackson getting swallowed alive by shark What

are these goddamn snakes doing in this motherfucking

shark Sticks in a shark But yeah, so yeah, I'm

gonna go with the story with jaws and I don't

know if I'm I'm winning now the thing that you

can't destroy jaws Always coming back keeps coming

back to send me how Jackson tries to come in

to recruit the shark to the effect You're part

of the bigger universe you just don't know it

Very nice very nice, but all right So yes, let

us know what you think and I'm pretty sure I'm

gonna get a lot of hate mail for thinking Zac

Efron could take over Indiana Jones, but hey

The moment caught me up and I didn't know how

to get out of it. So But anyways, we like to

end each episode with a letter and today I have

a letter for you and Interesting enough around

this time last year. We had our very first podcast.

So I kind of gonna go into that January 21st

2014 a day that will live in infamy a day that

scholars will look back upon and Wonder why the

world changed and they'll know because that's

when the talking in circles podcast debuted Yes,

not too long ago this podcast came out and Honestly,

I did not know where it was going about you know

over 18 months ago I brought the idea to Chuck

and Greg and they were a little bit hesitant

about the idea But I think they pitied me enough

and came along and I have to say within our first

episode Greg wrote a wonderful letter regarding

Why it's been a lot of fun to do this podcast,

and I think he was right on We started this just

to kind of hang out in a virtual setting and

now people are listening, which is great But

honestly, it's just kind of a good time a good

opportunity to kind of talk with friends and

record it and then try to do something fun with

it Interesting enough. I do also have to thank

all those awesome people have been writing reviews

on itunes leaving comments tweeting Honestly,

those remarks do mean a lot. They really inspire

us to get better and do something new with this

podcast Not too long ago, we were on Geek Cash

Radio, the episode where TFG1Mike asked us what

we want to get out of this podcast in the future.

I still don't know the answer to that question.

But when I did answer it, my response was get

better. And that's honestly what I really want

to do. I want to get better. I want to find ways

to make this podcast even more presentable, even

more fun, and even... more unique and different.

I know there's a lot of podcasts out there, a

lot of podcasts out there on GeCast radio or

other places that you can listen to that probably

cover similar material. And I think what's interesting

about us, and I don't know if it's true or not,

I just think it's the fact that we enjoy having

fun. I know we're not necessarily here to change

the world though. We just kind of do it by proxy.

It's just what we, we're just that good, but.

I appreciate the fact that, you know, Greg and

Chuck were willing enough to come on board and

try out this thing. So I got to first thank them

for agreeing to coming on Talking in Circles.

You know, they've both done a lot of work. Greg

working on all of his great Art for the podcast

from the logos to the for the war for but more

March badness I i've given a lot of work to do

and he and always pulls through get some great

great art Chuck always brings it as well. His

voices for unknown are fantastic They really

they really make that better and make up for

my complete lack of talent and also knows how

to bring the funny Also, like I mentioned that

you have to thank the fans and thank TFG1 Mike

and Steve Megantron Phillips for allowing us

to come on the podcast So the question is what

comes up in the future? Well, I have no idea.

We'd love to hear what you guys want us to do

You know what you want us to see we will be bringing

back games again likes you could reboot and destroy

I'm looking forward to doing another March badass

bracket. So let us know well well well things

just kind of come to us and kind of and that's

what i've always enjoyed it's well throw things

out there see how it works if it works we keep

doing it if it doesn't we stop aka the moments

of time episode where that just failed miserably

but you know we learn and we grow anyways thanks

again for listening and here's for a few more

years so I know that was kind of corny, but I

felt like, you know, it is the State of the Union

time, so maybe we should just, you know, recognize

us being around for an entire year. By the way,

Dan, I pity the fool. You do pity the fool? Pity

the fool. I was just doing Mr. T. I'm sorry.

It was bad. Do you want to bring him on the podcast?

Mr. T. We could get Mr. T. He's got nothing else

to do. That'd be awesome. We could ask him to

do a performance of Mother. There is no other

yeah That is freaking hilarious that thing. Oh

My gosh, do you ever you know what's really great

to way back when? Have you ever heard mr. T laugh?

No, I used to do it in the Conan O 'Brien show

and it google it or look it on YouTube it is

like The oddest sound in the history of the world.

It's so weird like his laugh I liked when he

played the wise janitor on another teen movie

I'm the wise janitor even even announced who

he was How did we get on that anyway, I have

no idea Cuz Dan said they kept pitying me or

whatever But yeah, hey you guys came on I didn't

know I I was I remember when talking about it

You guys are like, yeah, maybe but hey, I tricked

you enough. I don't know it ended up working

so All right. Anything else before we bring this

episode to a close? Watch Ministry of Fear. I

don't know. That's the one thing. And Zac Efron

for any... Oh, Dominic Cooper. Dominic Cooper,

I'm telling you. I agree. I'd go Cooper over

Efron. All right. Well, there's a lot of ways

to get in contact with us there. You can email

us at feedback at geocastradio .com or at talkingincirclesatlive

.com. We're on Twitter and Facebook. Just search

Talking In Circles, TCRN. And Greg, you sir are

also on Twitter, and I believe you're at The

Great Forge. Is that correct? No, I'm at Emirata

now. No, that's Emily Radziakowski's. Check out

that one. Your Twitter Frawler has increased

by like a million. So yeah, I am at the Create

Forge. So you can get all your fun references.

I meant to tweet out something this week of that

the Riddler should have been a female character

because they are enigma. Lame joke, but it would

have looked awesome on my Twitter. Now you can't

use it, so. I'm still going to use it. I'm still

going to put it on there, Dan. I've still got

time before this comes out. You have different

people that listen to this and follow you. So

recycle the jokes. All my spam bots that follow

me will think that joke's hilarious. What about

the creepy scape hookers? They do not follow

me on Twitter for some reason. I don't understand

why. Weird. They're not hookers. They're cam

girls. Come on. You know, totally different.

How dare you? They were camisoles and thongs.

Remember? So interesting enough, the last time,

the first time we talked about the Skype cam

hooker or kite was when we did secret reboot

in the store because I went back and listened

to the episode. So that's awesome. Wow. It's

like it's like we have a clock in our head, you

know, just keeps coming around. Yeah. But yeah,

speaking of clocks, not that doesn't work at

all. Chuck, you're still not on Twitter. I am

at like clockwork at my desk. Not on Twitter.

You can follow him there. It's kind of weird

though. Follow his webcam. There's there's a

closet behind me, so if you could follow me there.

But yeah, the best way to get in contact with

us is if you go to geekhathory .com or nerdy

.co .uk and comment on the episode post. What's

up, Brit? Yeah, British. Yeah, we have had a

shout out to the British people lately. No, we

have not. We've been ignoring them. We do apologize.

We should do some British -British episode where

we all speak in British accent, but that never

happened. Which is coming off of Netflix. What?

What dare they? That is a good announcement,

though. That's a good heads up to people. Yeah,

you're welcome. You're welcome, America. Anyways,

this has been a random episode. Hey, it's good.

It's a good random. Anyways, we'll bring this

episode to a close, but we'll be back next week.

Same time, same channel, same podcast feed, but

for now. This has been Chuck. This has been Greg,

or Skeletor. And this has been Dan, and we've

been talking in circles. I did not know you were

also Christina Cox. That's not Christina Cox.

That's not the right person. Who's Christina

Cox?
