About this Episode

The hosts discuss their week including baseball games, Pizza Hut, and reading—then dive into TV trailers and recent media. They cover Arrow's season finale and get excited about the new Flash TV series coming to the CW, analyzing the trailer and what it means for the show. They also discuss Gotham's early promotional materials and the recently released Batman photo featuring Ben Affleck in the suit, debating the costume design and what it could mean for the character. The episode is missing its second half due to a recording equipment failure, but the first half covers TV trailers, what they've been watching, and the infamous Batman photo that sparked internet discussion.

Hi, this is Dan Gilbazan and you're listening

to the GeekCast Radio Network. Hey everyone,

Dan here. We kind of have a good news, bad news

situation. Unfortunately, we lost the second

half of our podcast. Not sure what happened,

but it went all staticky and our backups didn't

work, so it's gone to the great podcast heaven

in the sky. Luckily, we still have our first

half where we talk about the recent... TV trailers,

what we've been watching recently, and the infamous

Batman photo that hit the web that sent everyone

into a tizzy. Unfortunately, the second half

is gone, gone, gone. Forever. And suffice to

say, it was some of the best podcasting in podcasting

history. Unfortunately, none of you will be able

to listen to it. But we were there, and trust

us, it was sheer amazingness. I think we may

have performed a few miracles, and perhaps that's

why it just - wasn't recording it just was too

good for the internet i don't know i don't know

i guess we'll have to dial back a few two notches

for next week so our podcast equipment can contain

our awesomeness but unfortunately it didn't this

time luckily our first half is still available

and i hope you enjoy it and next week we'll have

a full episode for you hopefully if our recording

equipment works the appropriate way but on behalf

of Greg Chuck and myself would like to thank

you for listening to this week and hope you enjoy

what we do have. And you will turn for next week

for a full episode. We cannot let these killers

and these robbers and these rapists and these

thugs win. Not on my watch. There is a war coming.

A terrible war. There will be chaos. Rivers of

blood in the streets. I know it. That's my new

partner, Jim Gordon. You have a little danger

in your eye. I wonder what you plan to do with

that. You killed people before. That was war.

This is war. We're at war. What's your name?

My name's Bruce Wayne. I promise you, I will

find the man who did this. I'm learning to conquer

fear. Fear doesn't need conquering. Fear tells

you where the edge is. If somebody has to take

over, it might as well be me. Gotham is on a

knife edge. This is not a city for nice guys.

Stop or I'll shoot! However dark and scary the

world might be right now, there will be light.

There will be light. Gross. You are now on the

inside of what I like to call the Circle of Trust.

We are all connected in a great circle of life.

You know something, Bert? I think you and I are

going in circles. It feels like we're going in

circles. The circle is not complete. When I left

you, I was but the learning. Now I am the master.

Because it's a circle. Yeah, we heard about the

circle. Yeah, I swear. A million would change.

Hi, this is Chuck. This is Greg. And this is

Dan, and we are Talking in Circles, brought to

you by the UCAS. the podcast that may already

be ready for a reboot and we'll be getting into

that later today. But before we get to that,

how's the week been going for you guys? I am

extremely happy because I just ate Pizza Hut

leftovers and I freaking love Pizza Hut. We should

create a restaurant that's just called Pizza

Hut leftovers, like next door to Pizza Hut. It's

like around the back, you gotta go in the back

way. I think people do that. It's all the stuff

that they throw away at the end of the day. Yeah.

Yeah. Or like some place called Cold Pizza, because

I'm sure that would like that would sell. Yeah.

I actually had I had some of their pasta, which

is really freaking good, actually. It's like

this chicken alfredo pasta. Yeah. Yeah. I remember

seeing the commercial for that and the people

are at some restaurant. And they're like, oh

you're really eating pizza hut pasta and my reaction

to that is so you're basically saying Hey, it's

as good as like you're eating at a restaurant

because you kind of are a restaurant. So I don't

understand But uh greg, how's your week been

going? Uh, pretty good. Pretty good. Haven't

been uh eating pizza hut leftovers, but uh, i've

been getting some uh reading done and i've had

some uh over time at work, which uh I had to

deal with some people so that could get a little

bit uh frustrating, but I made it through. How

about yourself, Dan, how you've been doing? Doing

well. I went to Orioles baseball game the past

weekend, which is really nice because we had

really awesome seats. We're like four rows back

behind the home plate dugout. Thanks, go O's.

Yeah, that was really good. It was a good game,

too. Orioles won, I think four to two or so,

which is fun. I always love going to baseball

games. I can't really watch baseball on TV, but

when I'm there, it's a lot of fun. I see. I know

what you mean. It's kind of relaxing, actually.

Yeah, yeah, I relaxing as it puts me to sleep

Where the ball go it just disappeared. All right,

uh until the ball hits you in the head That that

would most likely happen. My hand eye coordination

is terrible That was what I was kind of thinking

too because we're really close and we didn't

have a net behind us And i'm just like if a wind

drive came That would be dangerous, because it

would be a straight shot. I'm like, I would probably

not go well. But I had a hot dog with macaroni

and cheese and crab on top of it. So it was a

good day. So your bloodstream is just going...

Exactly. I might have had a mini hot dog. I'm

not mini hot dog, mini heart attack. Which I'm

calling mini hot dogs now, apparently. Well,

you probably have a mini hot dog stuck in your

blood somewhere. It's just clogging up one of

your veins. Yeah And also the the Ravens first

round draft pick was there because it was the

weekend of the NFL draft So it was there hanging

out and and whatnot people like walking up getting

pictures with them I didn't because I felt like

he was just there trying to have a good time.

So I felt it was kind of like a jerk move I also

not a Ravens fan. I didn't know who he was so

I feel to be kind of like a one of those guys

She's like, I don't know who you are, but I want

to picture with you because I hear you're famous

so so as like a newly christened Raven has he

gotten arrested yet or No, that was low that

was mean I know but true but sure I Well, I didn't

seem to get into an elevator. So who knows what

can happen? You can only get arrested if your

name is Ray I'm waiting for the reality like

fight of Ray Rice and Beyonce's sister in an

elevator. But anyways, besides all that, I also

went to a movie screening. I went to, I got tickets

to a free screening that I went to on Tuesday.

And actually my wife went too, which I was surprised

by. I didn't think she wanted to, but she was

like kind of wanted to see the movie and I wouldn't

have gone to it if I had to pay for it. I'm not

gonna lie. And I should have a review of it.

shortly by the time this airs, it'll probably

be on linkycashradio .com. And that's a million

dollar arm. I don't know if you guys saw a trailer

for that at all. So now they're just doing a

million dollar baby but spending it off into

appendages or? Yeah, I guess. I guess that's

how it works. Babies are too expensive now. Next

is going to be million dollar legs, million dollar

spleen, million dollar heart. Titles this is

ready for porn purity or parody Yeah, that was

about the where they try to recruit some Indian

baseball players, right? Yeah. Yeah, it's about

John Ham from Mad Men plays JB Bernstein a sports

agent that goes to India to try to find Cricket

players to try to turn them into baseball players,

you know based on a true story and it has like

a similar feel of stuff like the miracle Or I

guess just miracle and the rookie that Disney

did is a Disney movie It feels very much like

a Disney movie a lot of the same type of comedy

Alan Arkin's in it being Alan Arkin, so he's

always fun Cricket was in it No, I mean breaking

out in the song was kind of weird If you feel

that you kind of that's it that's a go -to but

it was good enough. It was pleasant. It was It

is like that family -friendly movie. I would

think it's nothing amazing. You don't need to

see in theaters. I like John Hamm as an actor

and I was worried it was gonna be really really

bad like really really cheesy and in parts it

kind of is but it's it certainly Accomplishes

what it's going out to do being a for all ages.

There's some good broad humor The drama was good

enough. I mean, I was surprised that they can

make a tryout actually kind of a tent Kind of

exciting at the end and just seeing these people

try out for a team and it actually kind of worked

But uh, I do kind of wish there were two indian

Players that were the focus and I really wish

it kind of got into their story a little bit

more It's really about jb bernstein and his story

is interesting, but I feel like there's where

he's probably much more interesting taking Kids

from india and putting them into united states

and having them try to play baseball And i'd

also like to see like a documentary on it. I

think it probably would make a better documentary

than the live -action movie But yeah Go ahead

and see it. I had super low expectations and

I was pleasantly surprised. So that's a good

thing. And hopefully it wasn't just because it

was free. I don't know. I don't think so. How

do you think it ranks with like some other baseball

movies? Oh, geez. I would put it like. Trying

to think of what's a good level for I mean, there's

nowhere near something like field of dreams or

the Sandlot or outfield It's probably all not

that much different than angels in the outfield.

I haven't seen angels in outfield since I was

a kid I was like one of the movies I watched

all the time like that and the big green I I

feel like there was a lot of kids sports movies

when we were going up. You don't get them that

much anymore. Yeah I was thinking it's I know

like one of my favorite baseball movies was 42

Probably probably nowhere near that right? No,

it's not the dramas. It doesn't really have the

historical context of a movie like that It's

much more I would say it's like a very friend

family -friendly version of Jerry Maguire You

know if you saw that and like what will that

movie be like if Disney did it? That's million

dollar arm. So nice That's where I would put

it. It's really I mean it gets in the baseball

but baseball. It's it's almost like a backdrop

It's more about more about the sport agent really

But that's enough. That's really all to say about

that. There's really much more than that. But

Greg, you said you were reading this past weekend.

What were you up to? I've been reading a book

by Clive Cussler called The Tombs. Cussler? Does

he cussler a lot? I guess. I didn't get to meet

the man personally. There wasn't a lot of cursing

in the book either. I think he's kind of in the

realm of James Patterson, like one of those guys

that always... He's got like a ton of books out,

but he's always teamed up with somebody So I

don't think he's the one actually writing the

book. Yeah Tom Clancy or what have you? Yeah,

so his name is really huge on the book and then

the other author is like really tiny But he's

the one that actually wrote it which by the way

never I've read James Patterson books before

Those are just awful. I read the toy by him.

It was alright. It was just Is that what the

movie is based off of? Like the Robin Williams

movie, the toy? No, no, no, no. This, the toy

like came out maybe a year or two ago and the

one with Robin Williams was like what? The 90s?

90s, yeah, early 90s. But Clive Costler I thought

was a little bit better. It was a very simple

story. It's about these two archaeologists that

are married and they're on this crazy search

for the treasure of Attila the Han. and they've

got to compete with this kind of crime lord that's

overseas. And so it's like going from location

to location, it's kind of a mix of national treasure,

spy movies, and there's like little sub -genres

in there that make it interesting. Towards the

end though, it got kind of repetitive. trying

to find these treasures. The only thing that

really picked it up was this battle scene at

the end. I don't want to go into it too much

because I don't want to spoil anything. But the

end part was probably more interesting than any

other part of the book and probably combine the

other parts of the book together. It doesn't

even equal up to the the ending. But overall,

it was an enjoyable read. It was really cheap.

I had the paperback and I got it when there was

some kind of book sale going on. So I got it

for like a dollar, I think. But on the back,

it's like seven or eight bucks. So I think that's

that's pretty good deal. It was a quick, easy

read. Right. Yeah. Cool. Chuck, what about yourself?

What are you even up to? Oh, I've had sort of

a busy week, I guess. I guess over the weekend,

I watched Wasn't planning on watching anything.

I just kind of sat down, you know Resting from

a long day and the fugitive was on with Harrison

Ford and I watched that with my dad and I I've

seen it before but it's it's a great movie. I

really enjoy that movie Have you guys seen the

fugitive? It's been a while back in the day.

I always seem to catch it in parts It'll be on

TV. I'll catch it midway through then Couple

year later, I'll see it from the beginning. But

that's about it. I always catch it in parts.

Yeah. But it's one of those movies like no matter

where you catch it, it just kind of sucks you

in. And you're like, yeah, this is really cool.

Yeah. And you end up watching it no matter where

you started from. Yeah. Yeah. And that's what

I love about it. But I mean, you don't remember

whatever the quick rundown is Harrison Ford plays

Richard Kimball, who's the surgeon in Chicago,

and his wife gets murdered because of something

he knows. And unfortunately, he's tried and convicted

of her murder and he's sentenced to death. And

on the way to his prison facility, the train

derails and, you know, Kimball makes a run for

it and everything. At first, he kind of just

wants to evade the U .S. Marshals and the cops

that are looking for him and everything. But

then he tries to actually find the real man who

murdered his wife. And actually, I know it's

based on like. TV show with the same name from

the 1960s, but I've honestly never seen that

show I don't know if you guys have ever heard

of that or anything No, I've I always see it

Only reason I knew it was based off a TV show

is because when you always see the list the best

movies based off TV shows It's usually like number

one or two. Yeah I've heard of it from my parents,

but that's about it Yeah, I mean, I'm kind of

interested to check it out. I have a feeling

it won't be nearly as appealing as the movie

was but So, I mean, I figured maybe I would go

through some of the fun, like, trivia that I

kind of looked up for the film. Stuff that I

thought was really interesting and just stuff

that I found online. And hopefully it'll sound

as interesting as it did to me. But the first

thing I thought was cool was Harrison Ford actually

injured his leg during the one scene. They were

in the woods after the train wreck and he...

He tore like ligaments in his leg or something.

And the cool thing is he he refused to have any

surgery on it, like any corrective surgery, because

he wanted to maintain. Yeah, he wanted to maintain

an authentic limp for the remainder of the film.

It's like, wow, that's pretty bad ass right there.

He gets injured like all the time in his movies

because he got injured in doing Indiana Jones,

I think, too. Yeah, look at the stuff he was

doing. Yeah. He's like, should we have the stunt

double for Harrison? Harrison's like, nah, I

got it, I got it. What'd you do, Harrison? I

was shaving! Fuck myself. I knew we should have

used Harrison Chevy. I was thinking too, that

would really back up his badass cred on our badass

bracket. It's kind of funny. The other cool thing

I found was the apartment... for Harrison Ford's

character in the film. It's actually modeled

after one belonging to an actual doctor that

they like met with before the filming and Harrison

Ford thought this guy was like really eccentric

and like kind of be out there and energetic and

that was exactly how he wanted to like play like

his character in the movie Richard Kimball and

I guess Harrison Ford ended up taking the guy

out for a drink. So that guy got a pretty cool

story out of it. And this one, Greg's probably

going to like this one. Some of the original

considerations for the role of Richard Kimball

before Harrison Ford got it included Alec Baldwin

and Kevin Costner. Oh my God. I thought you were

going to say like Christopher Walken or something.

I was going to get excited about that. I would

have been fun. I can't see Christopher Walken

running from anyone. Maybe while we just be walking.

But no, because his personality, it's hilarious.

That's funny, because I guess that makes sense

for Alec Baldwin, because what Alec Baldwin was

like the first Jack Ryan and then Harrison Ford

took over. So I guess maybe they were interchangeable

in the early 90s. Yeah. I think to the future,

I think I believe was nominated for best picture

that year, if I'm not mistaken. Could be. I honestly

can't see Costner in that role and I'm glad they

didn't put it in it because I think he, well,

especially lately, he's been like overused on

stuff. I don't know. This year he has like 14

movies coming out. That's crazy. But, uh, and

then the other part, as you know, Tommy Lee Jones

is also in the movie, plays the U .S. Marshal.

And they said some of the original considerations

for his part were, uh, John Voight and Gene Hackman.

They were both actually offered the role. I like

John Boyd. He does generally pretty good. I think

lately he's been a little bit a little soft,

I guess, especially with the national treasure

and everything, but I didn't think he was too

bad. Yeah, I love I love Gene Hackman, too. He's

I think commonly Jones certainly works, but oh,

hell yeah. I like Gene Hackman a lot, too. He's

a great actor. I like him in a lot of stuff,

actually. It's too bad. He's he retired. So well,

I guess not so young but he I mean like ten years

ago and he hasn't really done anything since

so his and said that his last movie was like

welcome to mooseport. It's like Like stuff like

enemy of the state like that's that's one of

my favorite movies that's That's right. I know

I say that about a lot of movies. That's one

of my favorites one of my favorites It's okay.

Some of us have mapped out their top 100 of all

time I should probably do that, even though it

would be pretty hard to narrow that down, probably.

It took some time. It took some time. And I do

it every year. You're a glutton for punishment,

Dan. I do. I am. I am. And then the last thing

that I noticed about this, which apparently I

was living under a rock for the longest time.

I don't know how I didn't know this, but the

1998 film U .S. Marshals with Tommy Lee Jones

and Wesley Snipes is a sequel to this movie.

Interesting. And I somehow missed that. So in

that movie, Harrison Ford becomes black and Wesley

Snipes. Yes, it's the ultimate disguise. But

yeah, I guess like, you know, Tommy Lee Jones

characters the same and then actually one of

the guys. Yeah, the guy that worked with him,

like in his little unit or whatever he he came

along to for the second one. But I thought that

was kind of interesting. I don't know how I missed

that. Like, but yeah, that's I mean, the whole

movie, like I said, it's basically a chase and

I really love those kinds of movies keeps me

on the edge of my seat. And it's a simple concept,

obviously, but it just works really well. So

sometimes simple concepts are the best concept

because you can kind of you don't get over complicated

with everything. So yeah, definitely. You've

been up to anything else. Yeah, actually kind

of. The rest of the stuff that I watched was

all like a lot of like preview stuff for next

fall. Is it me or is it weird that like we're

getting preview stuff for the fall this early?

I don't remember that ever happening before.

Yeah, I know. And the one thing was, I guess

before I get into it, I could talk about my favorite

show, which is Arrow, in case you didn't know.

Oh, you watched that? Yeah. I don't know if you

guys knew that I did. I watched that, but. You

mean our sponsor? Yeah, I'm a little bit of a

fan. But but they had the season finale and it

was freaking awesome. Loved it so much. I mean,

in my opinion, these these guys really know how

to write a like a gripping TV show. I mean, this

is if I didn't have such a connection with like

Smallville stuff like this, this show is like

slowly like gaining on it and passing it out.

The writing on this is like so much better than

Smallville. I'm loving the crap out of it. But

I mean, they leave you with the famous cliffhangers,

obviously from week to week. But I like how they

do it. It's not like the same thing overused

like every week. They mix it up. And the writing

is smart, too. Like they put little subtle things

in there for you to pick up. And I absolutely

love looking for those every week. Like, I mean,

some of them kind of make things predictable,

but not very often. It's a lot of times it's.

It turns out to be. the opposite of what you're

thinking. You're like, well, how did I not see

that? That's really awesome, you know? And I

love how they ended it here in their season finale

to close out season two. I think it it resolved

a lot of stuff that would have been too annoying

to let go until next season. But they also introduced

some some new concerns, and that's what you want

to do in a good season finale. So give him an

A plus on this one. Can't wait for the season

three in the fall. Yeah, hopefully. looking forward

to being able to watch season two because I did

not have the opportunity. Hopefully once it hits

Netflix or whatever, I will be catching up with

it. Come on, Netflix. I'm hoping to score another

another bargain on the DVD set, too, because

I got the first season on Amazon for 10 bucks

the one day it was on sale. Oh, wow. So that

kind of leads into the next thing, which is like

it's spin off show, which is The Flash. And they

showed this preview. They aired this preview,

but also online. They released an extended preview,

which was actually five minutes long and I was

able to watch that I'm not sure if if you guys

were able to see that dance head. You said you

might have seen it Yeah, I did see the the flash

preview which I feel like was like a condensed

pilot episode. Yeah Yeah, it was really crazy.

I mean It looks awesome to me despite what I

I heard some stuff online like, you know, saying

beware of the show. It could be like a major

flop. But honestly, like I'm all in for the show.

Like you said, it gives a. Almost like a condensed

pilot, it kind of gives you a good idea of the

tone of the show. I think it would be a lake

arrow in some ways, except with the flash's personality,

which is like fun, quirky, energetic guy as opposed

to green arrows, kind of darker. personality,

but it's definitely going to have a very serious

side to it as well. Would you get that impression,

Dan? Greg, I don't know if you were able to see

it. I saw it. It definitely looked a lot more

eros fun, but more fun by jokes, comedy -wise,

something more like that, because as everybody

knows, Barry Allen's kind of a joker. So and

I think it's interesting I'm not too sure of

his origins, but I thought that what they were

showing was Was an interesting take on them.

I guess I kind of liked how they were doing the

origins worm Yeah, I only worried I guess I Mean

it's TV. So some of the special facts were spotting

in some instances just like the running Just

seemed kind of awkward, but I don't know if that's

just because it's so hard to hard to do that

And I just wonder too if with like a your power

being speed it does become really difficult to

come up with creative ways to like Display that

you know it becomes harder to get the get enemies

you need enemies that could be a challenge for

him So I I know people say the flash has a pretty

extensive Rose Gala gallery of people. I don't

really know much about His villain so I could

be wrong, but I do I do like it that the cast

seems really strong I see they have some people

there from even like law and order the one guy

was like on the original on order. He was also

in not glee, but Rent the original rent cast

so and I'm sorry that I know that but I do so

well the main character of Grant Gustin from

Glee so oh is he yeah see I've missed that I

remember people talking about that but you don't

even really mechanize him and is that the same

guy that was in the era in aero or did they get

a different person yes it's it is the same guy

okay and I see they had a little aero cameo so

yeah it looks like you that That's a really cool

thing about it, too, is that it looks like Arrow

is going to make maybe some guest appearances

on the show. And you kind of get the sense that

like the Flash really looks up to him, you know,

and like Oliver's kind of there to encourage

him, support him, maybe even to be kind of the

hero that he sees in him and stuff. But I don't

think they'll have him on there a lot. Yeah.

But maybe just in the beginning, a couple, you

know, a couple of cameos here and there. But

I think that's a really cool idea because you're

bringing all the. All the fans from the arrow

show Definitely definitely i'll i'll check it

out for sure I do think it's just gonna be a

little bit more difficult with because you're

gonna have to have The first character to have

is like some guy controlled weather and it's

gonna be a challenge I think more so than arrow,

but they could he's gonna be doing well with

arrows. Maybe they can pull it off Yeah, that's

that's probably uh the weather weather wizard.

I believe his name is but um Maybe they could

come up with a cooler name. I don't know but

um I do like the fact that it seems like he has

like a team with him people know which is kind

of cool so it kind of explains how he it can

kind of expand upon his powers and what now because

it seems like at the beginning he's not like

the Inventful flash yet. Like he's you know,

people don't realize he he's faster than a bullet

or he's like lightning speed He's kind of building

it up. So which is good I think that would be

kind of cool to see that evolution of the character.

Yeah, one of the things I'm most excited for

is how they how they do his powers because I

know from I haven't read a lot of flash comics,

but in a little bit that I read, I know that

there's a ton of potential there with what they

can do with his powers. Like there's just so

much you could do with being that fast. Yeah.

And I can't wait to see how they kind of like

incorporate that, like how he stops certain people

with using his powers in different ways. Like

I've seen them use them in the comics. And I

mean, some of his some of his rogues, like you

said, they're not They're not really that powerful.

I'm sure there's like a mirror master, right?

Or in some, yeah. I'm just thinking of the cartoon

from what I can remember. Yeah, Captain Cold

and stuff like that. Got a little alliteration.

Yeah, definitely. A lot of captains, too. Yeah.

How do they get that rank? Who gives it to them?

I'm wondering if they're gonna do like arrow

and bring in non -traditional Villains for that

character. Like you said they brought in For

arrow they brought in clock King for an episode

and that's not I don't think that's a traditional

arrow character I believe that started with Batman

there for the clock King. Yeah. Yeah, I mean

I like how they kind of pull some villains from

different corners of like the DC universe, you

know, like And the things that they change in

an arrow at least I don't have a problem with

at all like cuz they do it in such an awesome

way So I'm thinking that if they kind of do this

for this show Maybe if they change the villains

a little bit to kind of match You know just to

match the flow with the flash and stuff. I think

I think they'll do a great job on it I mean if

it's if it's anything like arrow, I'm gonna I'm

gonna love it So yeah, maybe they can bring in

Superman villains like they did for Batman villains

sir for arrow. I'm sure I'm guessing, I mean,

based on the beginning of the preview, they're

going to have somebody like Reverse Flash, which

is to get in the yellow costume. Oh, yeah. Which

kind of like it's weird, too, because the way

they did it, like with Flash's powers, like he's

part of this like speed force. And they kind

of hinted that in the trailer, like when this

lightning storm hit, these energies came in from

another dimension. There was some kind of weird

force. And he was kind of given this. this speed

force and I guess when I guess there's like the

reverse flash he can like he's tapped into it

and It kind of affects Barry's connection to

it as well. Like if they're both pulling from

the speed force So that might be kind of a dynamic

that they explore something like that I think

they could do some really creative things with

it. So I'm excited and I guess that kind of brings

us to the next Comic book series that they're

coming out with another extended trailer and

that was talking about Batman the actual Gotham

trailer seeing What that's gonna be like with

before the bat and whatnot with? Gordon and some

of the other famous villains like penguin and

poison ivy. What did you guys think of that?

It kind of leaves me more interested in The villains

more than I'm interested in anything that Jim

Gordon's gonna do They have a really cool looking

guy for Cobblepot, aka the Penguin. You got to

see a lot from him in this, which it's kind of

interesting to see the origins and upbringing

of each of those villainous characters, where

you don't really get many origins from villains.

You do get one every once in a while, but I think

it'd be interesting to see those origins in a

movie or a TV show. Joe, what did you think?

I was I was kind of surprised by it. I mean,

obviously I had a lot of doubts just because

it's such an epic story, obviously, and like

a lot of times like a TV series doesn't do justice

to something like that. But I mean, I was kind

of worried about how how many villains they were

putting into it. Like I know there are some press

releases mentioning the Penguin Riddler Catwoman

Poison Ivy. And then I even heard some more like

they were tossing in like Scarecrow, Two -Face

and the Joker. And I was like, wow, this just

seems like a lot to handle for a TV show and

especially having no Batman to offset those characters.

But I was really surprised. It looks pretty cool.

One thing that I was really surprised at was

kind of how gritty it looks. I mean, they're

they're showing like the blood splattering and

stuff like that. And I was surprised by that.

Yeah, it's certainly dark. They're not really

holding back that much I was gonna kind of impress

not impressed but I did like the guy that they

got for Gordon not necessarily when I think Jim

Gordon That type of personality is not what I

think of but I think that's kind of cool I do

it is weird though thinking about there's so

many great superheroes and it's like, you know

the superhero that you love Yeah, imagine the

what it'd be like before they became a superhero

and they didn't You know, they aren't who you

like so I feel like it's gonna be kind of weird

Just to see the world like that. You're gonna

just be waiting for Batman to show up. But yeah,

I did watch the the new DC anime and movie the

son of Batman which has like Damien in it, you

know Batman's son Obviously with the title of

the movie that was kind of stupid but Watching

the reason I bring that up because you kind of

see like a mini young Batman And I thought that

was kind of funny and I thought it was kind of

a cool dynamic seeing a kid have the personality

of Batman so Seeing that actually take place.

I think we could be kind of cool But I guess

I don't know how much of role Bruce Wayne is

actually gonna have in the series if he's just

gonna show up for like the pilot and maybe be

in the background or if it's Jim Gordon show

and you know, he's just living in it, but uh,

yeah, I mean to me it looks like Detective, I

guess he's a detective at first. Gordon is going

to be be like a pivotal character in this. And

maybe you get to see him like kind of work up

towards the rank of commissioner or whatever.

But yeah, I look at like. I mean, it looks like

they have their work cut out for him. I mean,

especially with how, you know, critical comic

book fans are, but especially Batman fans. Yeah.

I mean, he's so well loved, but his villains

are so well loved to like his rogues gallery.

It is just as important as him It's like getting

an iphone 5 and then trying to give someone like

an iphone 2 and say here use this remember this

so it's it's gonna I don't know. I it'll probably

be successful just because it's based on batman,

but I'm hoping but I it's I just something about

it just seems like it just I don't know. I wonder

if it's gonna be a good representation of batman.

Maybe it's a better Movie than it is a TV series,

you know, yeah I'm worried how how they're gonna

kind of flesh out some of these characters and

do all their backstories like I said seems like

a lot to work in there, but The thing is like

you have Batman villains and like Jim Gordon

can stop them Then does that kind of diminish

the need for Batman, you know? Yeah, so I don't

know. Of course you see the famous sequence of

a You know Bruce Wayne is a child walking with

his parents in the alley and the guy comes out

of the shadows and shoots his parents and stuff

crap i just ruined the entire thing i'm sure

that'll be the first episode so yeah but i mean

it might be kind of cool to see like the influence

that gordon has on him and yeah stuff like that

because they kind of allude to that where he's

like oh i'm learning to conquer my fear and he's

telling bruce wayne that like fear doesn't need

conquering and gives you an edge and all this

stuff I'm sure like his first night of being

a detective will be the night that Batman's parents

get killed or something like that to kind of

Give them like some sort of tie to one another

like they're both born in the same day or whatever

Yeah, yeah, that would be cool All right, anything

else before we bring before we bring this episode

so close anything else before we take a break

I was just wondering if you guys saw the the

picture that was released of the Batman in the

movies of Ben Affleck as Batman. Oh, was that

released on the internet? I did not notice. Didn't?

It's kind of everywhere. Yeah, I did, I did.

What did you think of that, Craig? I think it's...

He looks really good. I'm not sure if his acting's

gonna be good, if he's gonna portray Batman well.

He looks... like a good batman the the costume

they gave him looks really awesome of uh the

dark knight returns frank miller um drawing kind

of it alludes to that um and the batmobile kind

of looks like it alludes to um the tim burton

batmobile but a little bit more combined with

the newer like tumblr kind of in there too it

looks like a combo deal but all we really saw

was like a back axle and kind of Batman brooding

in the foreground. So but the cow look pretty

cool. I like the height of the ears and everything.

So yeah, I'm hoping that they kind of like they

kind of leave him in the costume the whole time.

You know, don't give him too many lines, just

have him kind of doing stuff because he looks

great as Batman. But yeah, I don't know how great

he's going to be on the other side of it. Always

look down just continually look down Just look

down and pull stuff out of your belt Yeah, i'm

curious about the color of it I'm if they're

gonna go with like a bluish or if it's gonna

be gray or what have you I mean that's still

Left to be said or seen I did like the look though.

It does look pretty cool. I love like the party

in the front Batmobile with like the tim burton

like style like you mentioned greg and then the

tumblr end of it Has a tank kind of feel but

still looks mobile enough so it I know there

was like a lot of Speculation regarding what

it's gonna look like and I'm pretty happy with

their take on it for sure much different than

Really any of the other live -action batman's

we've gotten so far. So One of the funny things

I saw sorry Chuck again So one of the funny things

I saw was somebody on the internet took and traced

the the bat symbol that was on it And they kind

of made a little cartoon of a fat bat as that

symbol. Oh, yeah. It is kind of a chunky, huge

bat symbol that they have on there. But they're

going for Dark Knight Returns look with that

logo. Yeah, I wonder, too, if they are doing

the whole Dark Knight Returns, if they'll get

into like the Batman, like almost robot type

of costume we had to when he uses the fight Superman.

So. If they're going that way full round so On

a related note I was I found this article online

talking about some Easter eggs in the man of

steel movie and I know a lot of people kind of

speculated that they threw Batman into the sequel

to kind of save the franchise and all this other

stuff, but Going back like people found a lot

of Easter eggs in that man of steel movie that

Suggested they kind of were planning this like

all along Like I guess somebody found I guess

it was like a crypt Kryptonian costume that Jor

-El was wearing or something like that like over

the s there's like these weird lines and When

you like when you trace those and color them

in it's like it's almost like a bat symbol like

covering the s which was like the Superman Batman

symbol for like the comics and Unfortunately,

that's where the episode ends for this week.

And it seems suspicious that as we are embarking

on discovering a sort of controversy or reporting

equipment suspiciously stops working. I don't

know. I don't want to start some sort of conspiracy

theory, but I guess I am kind of starting one.

Anyways, as always, this has been Chuck, Greg,

and myself, and we've been Talking in Circles,

and we'll see you next week.
