About this Episode

The hosts catch up on fall TV's biggest comic book shows: Arrow season 4 with its new villain Damien Darhk and lingering character tensions, The Flash season 2 introducing Jay Garrick and the multiverse concept, and The Walking Dead's season 6 premiere. They also discuss Fear the Walking Dead and share thoughts on Marvel and Fox teaming up for X-Men TV shows including Legion.

Hey, I'm Bryce Carlson, writer of hit managing

editor at Boom Studios, and you're listening

to Talking in Circles. You are now on the inside

of what I like to call the circle of trust. We

are all connected in a great circle of life.

You know something Bert? I think you and I are

going in circles. It feels like we're going in

circles. The circle is now complete. When I left

you, I was but the learner. Now I am the master.

Because it's a circle. Yeah, we heard about the

circle. Yeah, that's what the million would change.

Hi, this is Greg. This is Chuck. And this is

Dan. And we are... Talking in circles brought

to you by the Geekcast Radio Network, the podcast

that hopes it records this time. Yes, unfortunately,

we are back after an unexpected week off due

to some gremlins and technical issues, but luckily

we have a lot to catch up on. But before we get

to the news and the TV shows and all that great

stuff, how's the week been going for you guys?

I personally am very excited because the prophecies

from Back to the Future Part 2 are slowly being

fulfilled. We're almost there. I'm referring

to the fact that the Chicago Cubs have advanced

another round in the playoffs and are getting

eerily close to a World Series. I'm sure all

Chicago Cubs fans are hoping you don't say that

out loud. Yeah, so and as we know in Back to

Future Part 2, they showed like a little sign

congratulating the Cubs on their World Series

win. The only thing is I'm hoping that they release

15 more Jaws movies before the end of the year

so they get to Jaws number 19. Yeah, you just

need the hoverboard and we still need to start

dressing like Biff in that. We have yet the weird

helmets and we're clothing. Well, we do have

hover boards now. So that's cool All those smart

board things. They're kind of lame. I don't know

I don't know they're like lazy skateboards They

had a they had a professional skateboarder testing

it out and he thought it was actually pretty

cool I don't know. I just feel like it's but

I think that could be cool, but they're gonna

be used for really lazy things like I saw people,

there was a photo of someone at like a grocery

store and someone was using it. I'm like, really?

You can't even walk for getting the snacks that

you're going to be shoving in your mouth? Or

like tricking a bully into running into a manure

truck? Exactly. That's true. That's true. So

Greg, how's things going with you? Besides the

cold, my week was going really well. I had a

nice weekend in Philadelphia. I went to go see

a Temple football game, a college football game.

And I'm glad to say that Temple kicked two lanes

ass into the ground. They had a little tough

start in the beginning. Temple had two turnovers

really early. And then after that, They got all

that out of the way and then crushed them for

a victory, 49 to 10. But one of the best parts

about going to Philadelphia, besides the cheesesteaks,

which I had twice while I was there for the weekend,

once to soak up alcohol, which was actually one

of the best places that I found down there. We

usually go to, if we're not going to Pat's or

Gino's, we're going to Jim's. We had a place

down there that was better than Jim's actually

which we usually like called Sonny's Which we

had it like two o 'clock in the morning after

the bars closed It was really good trip. We sat

right next to a wedding party They went apparently

went to the bar after they had their wedding

and then after that they went out for cheese

steaks Nice. Nice. Did you hit on the pride be

like so what's your story? No, no, no, I didn't

but I did really well that night Anyway, usually

I don't I usually get guys sitting on me as you

all know from that one story but I actually was

talking to about Shit ton of women that night

a lot of them weren't for me But there was one

that I have of the date with well I'm supposed

to have a date with but this cold isn't breaking

up Which I'm really excited about the highlight

of that night and is watching this team of black

men hit on women the entire night. It was freaking

hilarious. I even saw one of them the next night.

And my brother and I were very excited to see

him. It was kind of gay, but we were very excited

to see him the next night. But it was like him,

this taller more muscular looking guy. And then

there was a third that we didn't really see too

often. We just kind of saw him at the end of

the night. But though the one shorter fat guy

that we saw the two nights he was he was trying

to help my brother and I hit on women had the

Yeah, and his His system of hitting on women

was very weird go up to a girl and be like Do

you like pepperoni or do you like plain pizza?

and the girl would be like I like pepperoni and

Like he just kept coming up with like inane questions

like that like do you like pancakes or do you

like waffles? And that was all he would do. It

was like questions that you would ask a five

-year -old. But these girls would still talk

to him. It was so bizarre. This guy was like

a wannabe hitch or something. Like a poor man's

hitch. A very, very poor man's hitch. He did

not look anything like Will Smith. It's like

you have to act like you're an article from Buzzfeed.

It's like... Do you want to know the top five

breakfast foods? Cause I can give them to you.

So pretty much what type of cat what happens

next? You won't believe it. Can't wait to get

to number seven. It's a doozy. But his friend

was also interesting. He was this tall muscular

guy and he came over when the friend was over

talking to us for a little bit and some other

random just white dude came up and he started

asking the tall muscular black guy if he was

Julio Jones. This guy looked nothing like Julio

Jones, by the way. I swear it was just like kind

of being racist a little bit, like all black

guys look the same, like tall, muscular black

guys all look the same. But the guy's like, no,

I don't watch football. I play basketball and

stuff. And the other guy went away and the big

black dude was, the tall black dude was looking

at us going like, what the hell is up with that

guy? And we're like, yeah, we know, right? But

he eventually picked up a girl. And so I was

with the fat black dude, apparently trying to

keep the friends away from this girl, I guess.

I don't know. I just got stuck with this dude.

And then at the end of the night, we found out

that there was a third member who was lurking

across the street as we were making our way back

to our hotel room. He's like, You guys aren't

gonna stay with your women. They were like, what

are you talking about your women? You just left

them They were like they're not our women. He's

like, oh, I don't have a job for the rest of

the night then As apparently he was to come in

swoop in if any bad shit was going on with With

boyfriends that were attached man. They have

that they have that on lockdown. I mean, I know

right and The tall black guy turned to my brother

at one point and goes, hey, what did that one

guy call me? My brother's like Julio Jones. And

he turns back around and he goes to a girl, hey,

I'm Julio Jones. How you doing today? And he

was telling one girl his name was James Bond.

The girl was believing him and this was the girl

that he was he was walking back To wherever to

get food. I don't know where they were going

But eventually it's been the night we heard because

we saw the the fatter black guy The next night

and he was like he didn't close the deal man.

He did not close the deal He would not tell her

his real name. He just kept up with James Bond

and were like why didn't he just say his real

name it like wouldn't have been anything and

he would have scored he's like he just didn't

want to he just said he didn't feel like it so

it was very bizarre like after all that set up

all the three guys with their whole system or

whatever This dude did still not land the lady.

It was it was very bizarre You gotta be careful

shouting that you're Julio Jones because then

you're gonna have a bunch of people running up

for fantasy Are you questionable or doubtful

the big twist is the fact that at the entire

time he was Julio Jones He didn't even know.

He actually was. And I was the racist one that

didn't realize it. To be honest, I don't even

know what Julio Jones looks like. I couldn't

even tell you. He did not look like this guy.

This guy looked more like a gap -tooth -free,

kind of lankier Michael Strahan. All right. Well,

there you go. I feel like if you ever run into

these guys again and they listen to this episode,

they're going to want to beat you up. I highly

doubt I'm going to see them again. They were

very cool to hang out with and everything. I

don't know why they would beat me up. I wasn't

too harsh on them. That's seriously what they

were doing. You keep referring to the one as

the fatter. Well, he was a bigger dude. They

were both big on kind of different spectrums.

And like I said, I'm not going to see them again.

That's what you think. That's what you think.

Wow. Yeah, unfortunately, I got no stories like

that. I did not do anything. Today, so actually

I got to work from home today. That's about it

because my kid threw up a daycare today So he

couldn't go they made me sign a form saying I

want to take him to daycare I'm like, this is

a little extreme. But all right, did you? Make

it through a week without a car breaking down.

It's not Friday yet. So I'm not saying anything.

Okay Don't jinx it. Yeah for the for the podcast

that did not record last week I talked about

my my Carmageddon that was going on with my just

multiple major car issues going but So far this

week it's been okay, but don't want to say anything

too loudly so they might hear me. But I ended

up I don't know if anyone's gone to geocastradio

.com recently But there is a big push now because

we have a big project coming up and actually

Where we're gonna be doing another top 100 countdown

We did one two years ago for top 108 million

movies this time. We're actually gonna be looking

at television It's kind of fitting because right

now there's a lot of fall TV kind of debuting

coming back And I know one show that we talked

about a lot Since we've started this podcast

is arrow and also flash coming back, but and

also walking dead We're gonna talk about all

three of those But I figure we can start with

you know, the one like the one we've talked about

the most and that's arrow and Greg I know you're

still your season behind if I'm not mistaken

Yep, as always. I know the news last season is

now on Netflix. As the time this airs, I think

two episodes have been out. I've watched the

first one and part of the second one. I don't

know how far you've gone, but now that we're

a little bit into the season of Arrow season

four, are we in season four? Yes. Season four.

What have you been thinking so far? I know last

year we thought it took a little bit of a dip.

Do you think it's starting off on better footing?

You're more excited for this season? I think

the first episode... By the way, I've watched

both of the first two episodes. The first episode

was kind of shaky, I thought, because... And

I know it's kind of a petty thing, but... Diggle's

helmet? Like, really? It is. It is kind of ridiculous.

What is that? It's like it was taken off someone,

like, cosplaying as Magneto or something at a

Comic -Con, and they just painted it black. It

looks kind of crooked all the time. It's like,

is it... It's not... Straight in I don't know.

It just seems and it like it's Like his entire

neck is exposed. Yeah, I mean like it's just

it also seems like that one of that just kind

of review take away your entire What's a vision

called the field of vision? Yeah, you prefer

feel vision like it. Yeah, it feels like it would

be completely Yeah, it kind of seems like that

I get that it's a costume when it just it also

just looks ridiculously stupid Yeah, and I mean

The whole situation with him and Oliver sort

of, you know, Diggle basically still hates him

for kidnapping his wife Lila last season and

everything. Even though we see in the first episode,

Lila completely forgives Oliver and she's like,

yeah, I totally understand why he had to do it.

You know, he's posing as Ra's al Ghul. And Diggle

somehow is still like, I don't care, I hate him.

And it was kind of weird, like the whole first

episode, you know, you have a mysterious new

villain on the show Damien Dark and everything

but I gotta say the second episode I was a lot

happier with they really had some crazy things

thrown in there you have like a you have like

a person burning alive you had a we see a body

that's been decomposing for over a year like

they threw some crazy things and not that novelty

stuff makes a great show but I felt like they're

kind of laying the groundwork a lot better in

the second episode. And I really like where they're

going now with a couple of the characters. So

I think potentially this could be the best season

since season two. What do you think of the Damien

Dark character as of so far? You mean Dum Dum

Dugan in DC? Exactly. The guy that's in like

everything ever. He's been after like the guy's

been in every TV show at least once. Yeah. I

mean, he's a cool actor. His name escapes me

at the time being. But, you know, like I said,

the first episode, it seemed like it just came

off corny somehow. And like, I know they gave

a little bit of hint at this, like, sort of weird,

you know, mystical power that he has. And it

just seemed odd because you weren't sure what

you were seeing yet. But I think in the second

episode, he kind of establishes himself a little

bit more like he's sort of like he's definitely

evil but he has something of a code of honor

because he sort of gets upset about one of the

guys he hires like what what this guy does he

gets upset by it and stuff so you kind of still

feeling him out he definitely has um an attitude

he definitely seems like a a guy that you wouldn't

want to cross and stuff so I mean, it's, I don't

know, I'm kind of intrigued more so than I was

after the first time I saw him. And the actor

we're talking about is Neil McDonough, who is

in, he was in Walking Tall, he was in Phantom

Brothers, he was in Dumb Dumb Doo Gay and Marvel,

he was in Justified, he's one of those actors

that kind of shows up in everything. I think

it's interesting seeing how far we've come, because

I remember like season one of Arrow where they're

like, there'll be no superpowers, and now they've

come to the fact that now they have mystical

powers, which is interesting. Yeah. And I know

that I don't know if this is a spoiler for something

that hasn't happened yet, but that there's rumors

or confirmation that the guy who was Constantine

in the show that got canceled last year will

be showing up this year. So I am looking forward

to that. I do think it's starting off pretty

well. I was hoping for it to kind of change tones

a little bit. There's actually a line in the

second episode, which I haven't. finished yet,

but I tweeted this out and I thought it kind

of epitomized some of my issues with Arrow and

it's a line that says, Oh, the last three mayors

have all been killed. Like that kind of tells

me everything about Arrow so far that they've

killed like a mayor every season. It's just like,

oh, this is, it's like when Kenny dies in South

Park to the point where it's like, yep, this

is when the mayor dies. We keep doing things

like that when like the city keeps getting destroyed

every... Season or there's like major deaths

like a mayor dying. It does feel like okay, like

it does it desensitizes it Yeah loses its punch

kind of yeah, so I just thought that was kind

of a funny line What's like I can't believe she

just said that yeah, the last three mayors have

all been killed Maybe you want to up your security

a little bit maybe But yeah, and I thought it

was I know the big thing was people saying that

was going to be a little bit lighter this year,

kind of in vein of Arrow. I don't see that as

much. I know that he's now the green arrow. And

but I think that the best thing about it, the

thing I'm happiest about is that I don't want

to spoil it, but let's say a classic location

has come back in the play. And I'm happy about

that because I felt like that was a big part

of what I didn't like about last season. So if

they can bring that back, I think it should.

build well for season four. Yeah, I was actually

going to ask you about that, about the flashback

sequences too. They, it seems more interesting

than last year for sure. Um, and I mean, to be

honest, like they've, they've been keeping, keeping

in stride with it pretty well, but last last

season just seemed like they were really kind

of struggling to make up stuff like, you know,

the primary story was like Ra's al Ghul and all

the stuff he was going through there, whereas

like really in the second season and the first

season, like everything mirrored what was happening

in the present, like really pretty well. Yeah.

And last year, I didn't get that feeling like

it was just kind of. Every time you got to a

flashback point, you're like, OK, time to go

get a new soda or something. You know what I

mean? Like, so I'm glad they trying to at least

kick that up again this year, because that's

that's an important part of the show when the

when the past and present really mirror each

other. That's pretty cool. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm

hoping that we can get that back again. So tomorrow,

move on real quickly to Flash. I have seen the

first two episodes of Flash. I guess I can start

with this and. I thought the first episode was

okay, a little bit of a letdown for a season

premiere. I just thought it ended up on a huge

high note from last year, and I was hoping it

would continue that, but it just felt like just

another episode. I was hoping for an event or

something like that. It was almost like a recap

of last season rather than a beginning of a new.

I don't know if you got that feeling at all.

Yeah, I did. I mean... I wasn't a fan of how

they went about it because like you mentioned

they they ended last year on such a cliffhanger

and I really expected them to pick up at that

exact point with the premiere and I was really

disappointed that they didn't do that you know

it's kind of where they they start like six months

in like after this event from last year and then

like as they go they're kind of filling in the

gaps backwards and it's I'm really not a fan

of like any show that tries to do that for whatever

reason it it's not my personal preference for

following a show I think it's makes it unnecessarily

confusing like I just prefer a more straightforward

way of telling it kind of but so that was sort

of a letdown but I think we we're talking about

before to see even some of the graphics with

the with Adam Smasher. Oh, yeah. He looked awful.

Yeah. I mean, they they clearly spent all the

money on the speed effects and they, you know,

they used like a stop motion on a stretch Armstrong

for Adam Smasher. It did look it just looks so

out of place. And yeah. The character himself,

I mean, it was played by Edge from the WWE. And

he did okay, but it was just such a generic character

that it didn't seem like it was even needed.

It was just like, okay, we're just gonna put

a villain in the character because we have a

villain in every episode. But it was a really

one note and it was a little bit of a disappointment

there, so. I did enjoy the second episode a little

bit more I thought you know Sandemon the villain

that was in that was much more of an improvement

and mostly I just I'm liking the dynamic between

the two flashes that's going on or so and has

me Very excited for where there's where this

could go I do think to one thing that the flash

does really well is it ends on it really great

cliffhanger that has me super excited for what's

going forward and it does make me ask those questions

and keeps me like it Never completely know where

we were going Yeah, I mean I was really impressed

with with the actor that was playing Jay Garrick

like I Honestly did not expect him to do that.

Well like for some reason he just sold that character

to me this is a you know gold like a Golden Age

flash. Yeah, but like it has sort of a Superman

personality. There's a noble guy He could be

a Superman, and he did have that kind of aura

about him. He projected this confidence of someone

who's been a hero for much longer than Barry

has. He just did a good job of portraying that

confidence and that experience and stuff like

that. Like you said, they have a good dynamic

going back and forth, so I hope that they have

a lot of team -ups and stuff. I hope they don't

send them back to Earth -2 too awful fast. Yeah,

yeah, the only thing that they're doing right

now that I'm not the biggest fan of is with Cisco

like there's like a thing going on with him Exactly.

Yeah, he's he's becoming a rapper. He's Louie.

He's leaving Drew Hill, which I am NOT No, it's

There's a thing going on with him But he's also

trying to keep it secret and I don't get why

he's doing it It just feels like a way to manufacture

kind of drama and it doesn't really work for

me I just I don't know. I hope it goes someplace.

But right now I just it's the one part of the

show I'm not the biggest fan of yeah, if we want

to get in too much of this cuz it's I guess it

could be a little bit of spoilers, but did you

catch the 52 reference? With the different earths?

Yes. Okay, is that what that was? All right.

Well, it was like they were looking for the number

of breaches from the other world and they thought

there would only be one and he says there's 52

of them. So I was like, oh, okay, that's cool.

It's a little Easter egg there, but I didn't.

I missed that. So there you go. Yeah, the whole

thing they're doing, I mean, I guess it's not

that big of a spoiler because they kind of revealed

it in the finale last year about like being other

worlds and stuff. Yeah. But this whole, you know,

can of worms that they're opening just starts

like so many possibilities. with all these other

worlds and stuff and like you know it was time

travel last season and now it's like alternate

worlds and like they're just going like right

at like theoretical physics you know like i did

i did think it was kind of funny like how they

just all accepted the fact there's different

dimensions really easily i was like yeah yep

all right makes sense even joe even detective

west is just like he's like okay do these people

work for a living and he's like all right i can

understand that you know they're just like me

so I'm going home for coffee. This completely

changes everything about, you know, the world

as we know it. But for us, it's a normal day.

But, you know, they have seen some stuff though,

so to be fair, to be fair. That's funny because

we're watching that and they talked about Zoom

and my wife is like, Zoom? Really? That's the

name? I'm like, it's DC. They're not really great

with names. I know. Or costumes. It's like Captain

Cole, Boomerang. Their names just describes what

they do, really. It's just... you know that's

the this is fire guy so fire guy like strong

guy exactly exactly uh i think that the last

time we will talk about and we'll take a quick

break and come back and talk about news is the

what is seems to be the biggest show though it

did drop in the ratings apparently and that's

the walking dead did you catch up with a pair

of that oh yeah yeah i watched it i was all we

were all excited for in my house and everything

especially since we kind of you know, got to

wet our whistle a little bit with Fear of the

Walking Dead. Even though, you know, that's getting

underway and it's got its own good points, everyone's

like, all right, let's get the real show going

here. Just briefly, what did you think overall

of Fear of the Walking Dead? I liked it. I think

it has a lot of promise. I mean, it's obviously

not at the level that the regular Walking Dead

is because it was only given six episodes. You

know, it's still kind of getting its feet under

it, but I think it definitely has a lot of promise

and I like what they're doing. I like... i like

the angle with uh going towards the coast like

near the ocean i think that's fascinating i agree

i think i liked it there i had some problems

with it it's not what i expected per se i thought

it would be i don't know i thought we would see

more of the the chaos that ensued really we it

felt we kind of missed out a little bit on that

i i do like how they're they continue to like

push characters like you know they kind of get

characters out of their comfort zone from an

emotional standpoint and they put them in situations

that they're not comfortable with and then you

get to you know see them snap out or freak out

or something and you know you kind of started

seeing Travis sort of snap a little bit when

he was beating the snot out of that guy and stuff

he was the calm and cool guy so they i mean i

like how they're continuing that from the walking

dead that's sort of same trend but yeah like

you said i was definitely hoping for more More

actual like in the trenches stuff like what was

happening In some of the surrounding areas, too.

I know it's supposed to be focused on LA but

yeah, which was it really I Don't know I guess

they're in the suburbs. I guess I don't know.

I'm looking for I think it overall that I think

the first season was maybe better than the Walking

Dead first season. I don't think it It was like

the pilot for the original walking dead I think

is phenomenal, but it kind of goes downhill after

that I thought this one at least was it got better

as it went on but uh to get to this this pilot

and or this uh Opening season. I know there was

a 90 minute episode, you know, technically their

biggest episode yet They had a lot of flashbacks

using of the black and white Did you think it

uh, you know, were you finally happy to get your

real walking dead back? I was um, I I did like

the The episode as a whole I will say I wasn't

a fan of the way they shot the episode Sort of

similar to my complaint with the flash premiere

Just the going back and forth I know they they

effectively used the black and white to to show

the Older scenes like filling in the gaps and

the present stuff was in color, you know, and

they did it sort of somewhat effectively but

just personally, I don't like that way of showing

it because you're constantly jumping back and

forth and like it's it's not obviously it's not

like rocket science to follow it but you do have

to focus a little bit harder while you're watching

it because you're like okay this is before this

happened so he doesn't know that yet and you're

like okay so you're trying you have to like reposition

yourself every time they switch over and that

just to me that gets annoying i don't know why

but when everything Cape came together at the

end. I was pretty happy with the episode the

way they wrote it so I Feel I'm being a negative

Nancy here and unfortunately, I think it'll continue

and I think overall that episode was okay But

I was rather let down by it not necessarily for

the same reasons I mean the flashback stuff I

thought was Little bit and I don't know the use

of black and white I get it because you know

the comic did it It was good way to differentiate

the prep pass from the president But I thought

the black and white itself didn't look very good

You know, it's a skill to use black and white

to make things look good in black and white It's

not just taking the color out and like not changing

the way you're shooting not changing. You know

the Let's get Kevin Smith on this story. Exactly,

exactly. There's a skill to it, and it just felt

like the color of my TV was out, you know what

I mean? Like when I first, it didn't seem to

look very good. I guess when I think black and

white, I think of something like the modern use

of it and how it can be so effective, and I didn't

feel like it really added that much to it. Definitely

kind of. Bogged me was that I just felt the the

with the flashback stuff. I don't mind that way

of storytelling I think it'd be effective but

with this episode it just I felt like it was

trying to get momentum and it was it was always

quite there was like it's gonna get it and then

it would stop and it was gonna get it and it

was and then it would stop and it would never

and then finally when I felt like oh here it

goes we're finally gonna get something at the

episode ends and yeah, I mean, yeah, it's great

to have a cliffhanger. I mean, that's that's

a good way to for TV makes you want to come back.

But at the end of it, I'm like, I don't know

what I did in that 90 minutes. There's nothing

in that episode I would go back to and think

this is a great moment. This is this is like

this is something that I feel like is a standout

moment or this is, you know, it's establishing

things. It's bringing new characters in. And

I see that, and there are certain dynamics that

were interesting. There were some, the Rick moment

where he has to decide to kill a guy or not,

and there's a good conversation. I'm liking the

Rick and Morgan relationship and how, where that...

goes but overall I just I don't know it just

was a little bit was kind of let down because

I I loved the last season season premiere maybe

I'm just comparing it to that and hoping it would

be like that where it was just you know high

tension from getting the end so many standout

moments and this one it didn't I didn't really

get it unfortunately but and also too I just

got done reading like where this is in the comics

I'm I just got finished I finished it like a

few weeks ago so I'm past this major storyline

where The season will be telling and I loved

it. It was like some of the best part of the

The comic I've read so far. So I have really

high expectations. So maybe that's part of it

I'm just going in with expectations from last

season expectations with the comic and I didn't

quite match it I'm not saying it's a bad episode.

It was awful. I just I was let down. So Yeah,

what did you think of? What do you think of rusty

being in there from? from vacation He was pretty

good. I guess. Yeah, I didn't realize that was

him. I I only remember because I just recently

saw his face in that commercial that he did for

the car and Christie Brinkley was his wife and

then the girl in the red Ferrari went by and

she's like really a blonde in the convertible

I was like, oh yeah, that's rusty Which who was

he? The the Sun oh Okay, okay Chevy chases so

I meant like in the in walking dead. Oh, that

was the I guess you could call him the the guy

that Was sort of challenging. Okay. Yeah. Yeah

him. He kind of came in late. Yeah, so He had

uh, yeah, he had an interesting Arc over the

length of the episode Holiday Road. Yes, Holiday

Road. He took the Holiday Road in that episode.

Did the walker seem to be moving faster to you

at all, or not really? I didn't really notice

that, no. Someone else pointed it out to me,

and I was like, yeah, kind of. Because the one

dude ran right into the fence and just basically

killed himself because his head splattered when

he walked right into the fence. And I was like,

you had to be moving pretty fast there, but I

don't know. Maybe it was just a illusion, I guess.

I guess I took it as they're so frail now because

they've been decaying so much that they can kill

themselves a lot easier. I guess that's why Morgan

was mopping them up so easily with the with the

Bo staff. Oh, that is I got to say, though, that

I'm looking forward to like a post I did with

a badass with the Bo staff that I'm looking forward

to. Yeah, that's definitely pretty cool. It's

like Donatello in the zombie apocalypse Which

I mean come on now if we don't get a ninja turtle

zombie apocalypse, you know Hey, they're gonna

fight with Batman. They can fight with zombies.

It's possible. Yeah But let's take a quick break

and when we come back, there's a couple of new

stories We want to touch upon and then we'll

be heading on out. So we'll just see in a bit

And welcome back. Not long before this podcast

airs, New York Comic Con happened. And with that,

a lot of news was dropped. And a lot of news

continues to drop. And I think one of the bigger

surprise stories to come out, and Chuck, you'll

touch upon this, was news that Marvel and Fox

are actually teaming up for some television show.

That's right. And some X -Men shows, sort of

a franchise that's coming to an end in the movies.

So they're trying to, I guess, kind of... keep

it afloat through TV whether it works or not

I don't know but what they're doing is two shows

one will be called Legion which is you know follows

Xavier's son David Haller also known as Legion

he's a diagnosed as a schizophrenic and he's

been in and out of all these psychiatric hospitals

and everything you know hears all these voices

in his head and he has an encounter with a fellow

patient and realizes the possibility that the

voices he hears might actually be real so they're

gonna go through that sort of you know that story

arc with him and then the other show will be

called Hellfire which is based on the Hellfire

Club which is sort of the one of the evil Organizations

and that the x -men face that everyone's named

after a chess piece You have the black king and

the white queen and you know all those pieces

you have Sebastian Shaw who was played by Kevin

Bacon in the movies I'm guessing he's gonna be

in this and Yeah, we're not sure at first like

no Kevin Bacon wanted to TV, but he just did

the following show So yeah, maybe yeah. Yeah,

you never know so that that one says that uh

There's It's gonna play take place in the late

60s Hellfire will be and It follows a special

agent who learns a power -hungry woman with extraordinary

abilities is working with a clandestine society

of millionaires known as the Hellfire Club Trying

to take over the world so yeah Do you think they

show a lot of promise or to? Greg I'll throw

it to you first. What do you what do you think

any interest in any of those shows? I don't know.

It's kind of early to tell the the descriptions.

There are so vague that it's like there's interesting

concepts I think a clandestine club that kind

of lurks in the shadows but has a lot of influence

is kind of interesting. And I think a mutant

in a psych ward type of situation sounds kind

of interesting. I've read some of the... X -Men

comics about Legion and everything and he he

can be a cool character Written properly, but

I'm not sure how that would translate to TV Do

you think? Sorry to interrupt for a second, but

no go ahead just along those lines Do you think

that that's going to tie in at all with? The

apocalypse movie since Legion was sort of the

start of the whole age of apocalypse storyline

in the comics I kind of doubt it because this

will be well after the movie. I don't have any

I don't have any good reasoning for it But I

just kind of doubt it. It's kind of a gut feeling

for the most part Especially since the movies

already like shots and this is just a development

make me think yeah Yeah, so this would sort of

be you know filling in filling in steps before

that I don't know if that would work out too.

Well Yeah, so I Don't see that happening, but

I think the the hellfire club kind of has a little

bit more It makes more sense for for television

I bet you the tagline for it'll be like it's

like Mad Men with mutants. That's what it's Mad

mutants. I am I don't know. Neither of them really

have me all that excited To be honest, I know

the Hellfire Club probably has more potential

than Legion. I was never a big fan of the Legion

character. Even the luck of him have always,

I don't know, I've never really been all that

interested in him. So a TV show about that character,

eh, not really something I'm really looking forward

to. The Hellfire Club, I mean, they're interesting.

I mean, certainly they're eccentric and there's

a lot of things you could do with them. And like

I said, it being a period piece could be kind

of cool, but... Neither I I think they talked

about doing like an X -Force TV show way back

when I think I'd probably be more interested

than that than either these two shows Yeah, I'm

also worried about with the state of CGI in Television

shows and I'm not sure how that's gonna turn

out For any of these X -Men TV shows to turn

out really well And if you're gonna do like how

fire like who's gonna be like the hero in that

you know like who I? Guess the other word to

is that is just gonna be too much. You know is

these are gonna be on FX I'm not sure if it's

FX or I'm guessing I don't know is it gonna be

on FX X I have more faith if they're on FX just

thinking you'd be a little bit more adult that

way but All I know is it's a co -production of

20th Century Fox and Marvel Television. So I'm

not sure where that would fall. See, if they

have it on FXX, then there's another X in there

with the X -Men. So you're going to have XXX

-Men. So it's going to be a porno. Yeah. They're

making a porno on TV. Yeah. Well, if you're going

to do that, the Hellfire Club would be a good

place to go. So yeah. My question is about the

Legion one. Would it work without showing? Xavier

in the beginning You know, and if they do show

Xavier, it's probably not gonna be James McAvoy

Or Patrick Stewart. So yeah, you know, is that

kind of a big letdown? I mean, I unless they

use like clips that maybe they they can I mean,

there's that that you're in right now that limitless,

which is actually I guess based in the The world

of the movie and Bradley Cooper was on it for

a little bit just as I guess established I'm

not sure but he had a cameo or something like

that. So maybe you could have a cameo with Macklemore

or Patrick Stewart. I mean I don't know if McAvoy's

ever done TV, but Patrick Stewart has when he

was on Star Trek. So maybe you could get him.

And he's, he's kinda on TV right now, but it's

more, uh, what HBO type of show time or whatever.

I'm sure you can give him to do the voiceover

or something like that, which, Hey, if we get

more Patrick Stewart voiceover, maybe I'll watch

it. Yeah. Maybe they'll just do like a, you know,

sort of a shot of the back of a bald guy's head

and they'll do like a Patrick Stewart voiceover

or something. You know, that'll be it after the

introduction. Or a little bit of wheelchair action

in there. Maybe they can fill in some holes,

some like X -Men 3 to Days of Future Past and

explain how, you know, Xavier's alive. Yeah.

How they put him in the body of the guy with

no brain function but perfectly healthy body.

The other new story that we can touch upon, and

there's actually two parts to this. One... It

was kind of obvious what they're making an Ant

-Man sequel Ant -Man and the Wasp but I don't

know if you guys heard this but there is a rumors

that the Inhumans movie may not happen it may

either because I don't know if it's because of

I know the TV show Agents of S .H .I .E .L .D.

has been touching upon Inhumans a lot so they

don't maybe they don't they can wait that long

to do it but I thought they already changed the

name to Marvel's Inhumans talking about them

so much so yeah so I don't know if you guys have

any thoughts on either getting another Ant -Man

movie now with The Wasp or the chance that we

won't get an Ant -Man's movie? First of all,

I'm excited that they're doing an Ant -Man sequel

because I think it definitely earned it. And

people loved it. I think it went over even bigger

than they anticipated. I know they expected it

to do well, but... I know a sequel wasn't planned

but you kind of figured when it did that well

like there's a good possibility and now there

is and pretty exciting too that I'm sure a lot

of people are happy about you know the Wasp actually

being mentioned in the title you know Ant -Man

and the Wasp and a lot of people are saying like

you know Black Widow kind of getting the short

end of the stick with a lot of Screen time and

with a lot of merchandise and stuff like that

So it's kind of exciting to see wasp actually

in a title role in the movie But I really Losing

an inhumans movie. I don't think would bother

me that much personally I was never a huge fan

of the inhumans I know a little bit about the

Mike, you know, Black Bolt's kind of cool. He's

an interesting character, you know, because he

can't speak and there's a whole dynamic with

that. But plus his power is his strength of his

powers. Freaking awesome. Yeah, yeah. And I do

like the fact that he was used in the Illuminati.

I don't know if they would ever tackle that concept

from the comics, but that was a cool, cool series.

Yeah. Comic run. That was pretty cool idea, actually.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about losing the movie

obviously I would watch it It would be cool to

have but a little more concerned that they pushed

back Captain Marvel to 2019 So that kind of makes

me wonder like is she even gonna be in the Infinity

War movies at all You know, that's a little concerning

The good news is Black Panther got moved up a

little bit a little bit closer, but I'm kind

of more worried about Captain Marvel being pushed

back and where she, you know, falls into all

of Faith's three. Yeah, and they also like announced

three mystery movies. I think they just throw

things out there. Like, we'll just throw movies

and we'll figure it out once we get there. Greg,

any thoughts on the Ant -Man sequel in humans

possibly not happening? I'm excited about Ant

-Man. They definitely set it up that Wasp would

be in a movie down the road. The fact that she's

going to be in Ant -Man movie within the title

is really great, I think. I loved the Ant -Man

movie. So having another one around, I'm all

for. As for the Inhumans, yeah, it seems like

they're kind of taking care of that on Shield.

So what's the point of even having a movie come

out and just maybe keep it TV show, I guess?

I'm not totally disappointed by the loss of it.

Like Chuck said, Black Bolt is kind of the coolest

one there, the most well known. Maybe second

would be Medusa with her hair. No love for Lockjaw?

Come on. Oh, Lockjaw's kind of cool, but I don't

know. He just seems kind of cute and fluffy,

even though he's an actual person. A dog that

can teleport? Or like what seems like a dog?

I gotta say, I'd be super disappointed if an

Inhumans movie doesn't happen. I just think that

could be a really interesting and unique movie

if done right. Like, Lord of the Rings meets...

Game of Thrones meets Star Wars or something

like that. My thought is maybe this is what will

happen. I know Agents of S .H .I .E .L .D. is

on season three and you know is there a point

where they feel like with S .H .I .E .L .D. kind

of questionable right now or do they think okay

well if human humans are going to be the big

thing do we then switch focused and now it is

legitimately a human TV show which I would be

cool with if it's done right so maybe that's

the way they go where they you know spin off

the agents of shield to something new i know

they were thinking about doing a spin -off show

with two of the different agents or what have

you but i think that got canned um so i oh really

i believe so if i'm not mistaken um i think there

was either not enough interest or they were looking

at the declining ratings of agents of shield

and you know Adrian Palicki has no luck with

TV shows. No, she does not she does not so honestly,

I I wouldn't care if they Got rid of agents of

shield all together as long as they give me more

agent Carter Because I did like I was really

happy with that. Yeah, I'm still I've only I

saw not these into shield So I cannot speak on

that but I was I try every time I try I just

said I'm like I don't I can't. But that's my

only thought. I would be disappointed. I'm happy

that they're making an Ant -Man sequel. That's

cool. I'm glad Wasp is going to be there. I kind

of thought she should be there from the beginning.

But hey, what are you going to do? But looking

forward to it. There's a lot coming out, as it

seems like there always is. So I'd be curious

to hear what other people have to say regarding

some of the new shows that have come on. What

are people thinking so far? Are you okay if an

image movie doesn't happen? Are you in favor

of some of these TV shows we're talking about?

There's a lot of ways to get in contact with

us. You can email us at keycastradio .com or

talkingincirclesatlive .com. We're on Facebook

and Twitter. Just search talkingincircles .gcrn.

You guys are also on Twitter, if I'm not mistaken.

You are mistaken, Dan. Oh, never mind Just kidding.

I am at heroic age Chuck And I am at the crate

porch. I am at the revolt But that will be it

for this week. We'll be back next week same time

same channel same podcast feed, but for now This

has been Chuck This has been Greg, or the sick

guy that doesn't really do anything fun at all

in this episode. Sorry. So sorry, so sorry. Sick

Greg, sorry Sick Greg. And I've been Dan, hopefully

healthy, and we'll see you next week. You have

to get up with it. I thought I had to turn up

for what? Or turn down for what? There's so many

things I need to do. You need to get up and down

at the same time. Then you gotta whip and then

nae nae. I was gonna add. Oh man, I don't want

a nae nae. I really don't. The funniest picture

I saw recently was someone put a sign over their

bathroom shower thing at the hotel. because they

already had like a little instruction with a

laminated instruction sheet or something on there

it said like turn left for hot turn right for

cold and the person wrote on it turn down for

wet
