Talking in Circles
Science Fiction Draft

About this Episode
Hey, I'm Bryce Carlson, writer of Hit and managing
editor at Boom Studios, and you're listening
to Talking in Circles. You are now on the inside
of what I like to call the circle of trust. We
are all connected in a great circle of life.
You know something, Bert? I think you and I are
going in circles. It feels like we're going in
circles. The circuit is now complete. When I
left you, I was but the learner. Now I am the
master. Because it's a circle. Yeah, we heard
about the circle. Yeah, that's what a million
would change. Hi, this is Greg. This is Chuck.
And this is Dan. And we are Talking Circles,
brought to you by the Kast Radio Network. On
today's episode, we're going to do one of our
infamous drafts as we go into the genre of science
fiction. Yes, what we'll be doing is drafting
characters from science fiction, from TV, movies,
books, what have you, to try to create the ultimate
science fiction story. If you've not listened
to our past drafts, I'd advise doing so. We've
done some on superheroes, on action characters,
and what else would we do? Did a draft of people
on Ashley Madison. Yes, and yes, we've done that
as well. We've drafted people on that, which
apparently is all guys. It was like 9 ,000 guys
and like one, two girls. So there you go. But
before we get into the draft... They were actually
the fictional characters in that story. They
were. They were fictional characters. Before
we get to the drafting, how are things been going
for you guys? Kind of crappy. It was my turn
recently for the car trouble. Oh, no. And I know
you had your turn, but it was my turn. It wasn't
anything too terrible, but just had some really,
really annoying rattling going on in my truck.
And I had let it go for a couple of weeks because
I was, you know, due for an inspection and stuff,
and I just wanted to get everything done at the
same time. And this rattling was like so annoying
every time I. would stop at like a red light.
It would just be like vibrating so loudly and
it would make my truck sound like a total piece
of shit. Like it sounded horrible. And it was
the point where you could kind of like rev the
engine a little bit and it would alleviate it.
So I'm trying to like find that happy medium
like sitting there. Yeah, it's a red light because
like people like I was afraid people are looking
at me like, wow, what a piece of crap that is,
you know. And I finally got and then I look at
your car and like, oh, I finally got to the point
where I actually stopped at the drive through
one day after work at a fast food place. And
the girl couldn't understand what I was ordering
because my truck was rattling. Oh, no. She said,
could you repeat that? It's like clank, clank,
clank, clank, clank, like, damn it truck. But
I get ticked off at that. But I ended up getting
it fixed in a. Had some other things wrong with
it and you know ended up having to drop several
hundred dollars on it But well, you know, those
are the there's the beauties of owning a vehicle,
I guess Well, what was causing the clunking whether
that actually wasn't squirrel wasn't too awful
bad. It was actually something that Resulted
from a part they put on several months ago And
it just kind of worked loose and was rattling
against the frame one of the one of the exhaust
pipes They actually fixed that free of charge
because it was something that they did. But the
other things, I had to replace a couple of tie
rod ends because of our lovely potholes here
in Northeast PA. Just got the shit beat out of
it over the last few winters, so needed to change
them. That's a lot of labor involved and I know
mechanics get like $9 ,000 per hour. Yeah, not
not fun when you get the car troubles and you
end up dumping several hundred dollars into it
Yeah, cars cars suck. That's that's the that's
the theory of today or the the moral of this
podcast I better get my car flu shot then Yeah,
it really should it's it's it is contagious.
It is don't park next to mine Or use a car cover
if you do double bag it I was going with you
Greg pretty good went out to eat the the one
night at this new place in town. It's called
Oh town Wait, there's a new restaurant and in
the Northeast PA that seems Yeah, I know. We
don't have enough restaurants at this point.
But this one was interesting. It's a craft house
and it's like five minutes away from my house
or something. So I could get a whole bunch of
nice beers or something like that. But they also
had something interesting on the menu. They have
a couple of stuffed hot wings, which were pretty
interesting. I went with my mother. That sounds
interesting. Yeah, and well for an appetizer
we had some soft pretzels with their Beer cheese
that was really good. Maybe a little bit too
much Maybe a little bit too much beer in the
beer cheese I know that's weird coming from me,
but it was it did tasted heavily of beer So it
could use a little bit less of that then we got
our wings My mother got a hot wing stuffed with
mac and cheese and bacon. And I got Cajun hot
wing that was filled with an herb cream cheese
and bacon and jalapenos. That's a whole lot of
goodness. Yeah, there was a lot of stuff in them
and they were huge too. We only got like six
a piece, but they were very filling, especially.
Two words you said that got me interested, bacon
and huge. Yeah. I have bacon wrapped around my
huge bleep. Still interested, Chuck? Fork? But
frankly, I would have rathered to stick with
just regular hot wings for the most part. They
were good, but it just, I guess it was too much
of a good thing, I guess. My mom's were good,
but you weren't getting much of a taste off of
the mac and cheese inside because the hot sauce
was kind of overpowering that. The little bits
of bacon inside were good. It added a nice little
secondary flavor to that. And you could say that
about mine, too, because you could really taste
anything between the hot sauce and the jalapenos
that were stuffed inside. So mine was especially
spicy. If you ever get stuffed wings, I would
check them out. Definitely try and sample, because
they could definitely be different than this
place, because it's not a chain. Yeah, they were
good, but not that great. Yeah, I never had stuffed
wings. Wings are just good enough for me, but
hey. Yeah, wings are good enough for me too.
I'm not against stuffing food with food. Turducken?
Exactly, exactly. But I also know Greg you did
end up watching something this weekend based
off the name I'm surprised you didn't love it
because it does seem like something that you
enjoy, but I guess that that wasn't the case
No, it's it was a movie called Hellgate and I
should have done more research before I clicked
on it in Netflix because I was thinking oh hell
gate that sounds like right up my alley and the
the premise was interesting of a girl getting
murdered, raped by a biker gang and coming back
and haunting strangers that come into this town
kind of thing. I'm like, OK, cool. It's like
that one story that you heard. Like, what was
that book? Strange stories or creepy stories
to tell in the dark or whatever. The book with
the really creepy animations inside. But it was
nothing like that. I should have done some research
beforehand because the lead character, the lead
male romantic interest in this movie was from
a show called Welcome Back Cotter in the day.
And he was actually the character that was the
nerd on that, named, I believe his name was Horschach,
not Rorschach, Horschach. And he was really geeky
and everything, and kind of a small, tiny little
guy and not Overly attractive, especially in
movie terms. So that Casting was a bit beyond
me. The acting was terrible. The story didn't
like There was a girl. She didn't get raped,
but she did get murdered But then all of a sudden
this weird alien stone came into it That would
either if something was dead bring it back to
life as a zombie or if it was already living,
it would have different effects on you and everything.
The reason for them going to this town didn't
make sense. It was just Horschach going, I just
want to go up this way. Let's just go up this
way. I want to go this way. And like, he's just
randomly going up into this danger and everything.
So it made like zero sense. I highly don't recommend
it. There was a random Moulin Rouge type of Oh,
what's the name of that dancing where they keep
kicking their legs into the air? River dance?
No, not River dance, Dan. Can Can. It was a Can
Can area. Yeah. River dance is so ridiculous.
It was a random Can Can in the middle of this
movie. for no freaking reason, it didn't have
to do with anything else that was going on. But
in a lot of the movie was like that, like, why
is this going on now? Why is this over here?
Why are they going up here? Like it was just
all randomness. There was nothing scary whatsoever
in this film. The special effects were awful.
It was just a piece of crap. Usually. I like
movies that are so bad that they're good. This
one was just so bad that it was bad. I don't
even think if we all got together to make fun
of it, it would make it interesting. Do you think
it would be a good candidate for like, how did
this get made? Or is it just not even that? If
anybody's going to make it funny, I think they
could. Because I've also been recently started
watching the another season of the league that
recently made it onto Netflix. And that show
has two of the people from actually three of
the all three of the people from how did this
get made make an appearance in the league this
season? And it's just always Freaking hilarious.
So don't watch hell gate watch the league. Yes
my recommendation I also say don't watch Punisher
Black Widow something from Marvel. That's now
on Netflix as well I watched like the first five
minutes and I stopped because the animation was
just so awful. I couldn't stand it. It's just
Turn the channel. It's just that like really
generic Want to be anime animation? The lips
are so badly awfully dubbed and like I can't
I can't listen watch this I don't like it was
awful. So talking in circles not fans of anime
No, I think I can deal with some anime like but
not not that not that so I Don't I don't like
the fake anime like if you're gonna go go for
it. This just seems like it's an American studio
So why is it being so poorly dubbed? It doesn't
make any sense to me. I don't know Weird. But
what we're gonna do right now is take a quick
break and when we come back we're gonna get into
our science fiction draft. So we'll see you in
a bit. Hey, guys, this is JD from the In Session
Film Podcast. Every week on our show, you can
join my co -host Brendan and I as we review the
latest films that's out in theaters. It also
inspires us to discuss a top three list of some
sort. And we have a lot of other fun movie discussions
as well. It's always a blast. And we also have
a show on Fridays called our Extra Film Podcast.
This is a show that gives us the space to talk
about the latest Indies and art films and other
classics that we normally just don't get to talk.
Hello Geeks! All right, and welcome back. And
today we're going to be doing our science fiction
draft. If you've not listened to one of these
previously, but what we do is we're going to
be drafting characters. And actually, with this
being science fiction, we're going to change
it up a little bit. So not even characters, you
might even hear things like vehicles or items
or weapons, or it's going to be a whole array
of things. And what we'll be doing at the end
then is taking all those things that we've drafted
and trying to create and give you what our movie
or story would be and then at geocastreader .com
we're gonna have a poll to see which one you
think is the best out of all three of our stories.
So we've done previously in the past and usually
I end up losing and Greg and Chuck do prevail.
I think I won one I can't remember which one
it was but I forget. Hopefully and luckily there
is no auto draft in this one. So hopefully and
if you listen to our last week episode Hopefully
Chuck does not get kicked out of this draft room.
We don't know yet. We'll see how he behaves I'm
in trouble without that auto draft. I know I
know I know Chuck you are you are going first
though. Their after -order is gonna be Chuck
Greg and then myself and we're gonna we're not
snake drafting it We're just gonna keep that
And we're going to go, I think about six rounds
or so. So it should be fun. So a lot of pressure
Chuck with the first pick, looking at the entire
genre of science fiction. A lot of things to
choose from. What are you going with your number
one pick? Hmm. I'm going to go with the notebook.
No. Scratch that off my list. Wrong, wrong draft.
That's, that's the romantic comedy. draft for
next week. That was a comedy. It wasn't supposed
to be. Oh, I thought that was supposed to be
funny. I laughed the entire time. I fell asleep.
Now I kind of like the notebook. I'm kind of.
Yeah. Let me turn my guy card right now. So check
it at the door. I keep my guy card because I
definitely fell asleep to that movie. All right.
Yeah, there's definitely a lot to pick from.
There are some. more important pieces than the
one I'm going to select. But the reason I'm selecting
it first is because I'm afraid someone else will
take it. So the other ones I'm I'm not so worried
about as much. But my first selection in the
2015 sci fi draft is a character and that is
the character of Predator. Oof, I almost went
with the Predator, but I see you're clear, but
interesting, interesting. The Predator. Which
one are you going with? You going with, because
there's, I mean, they're all the same characters,
but, you know, I think the Predator 2 has better
weapons. I'm curious. Yeah, that's true. I mean,
I think the first one was... A better hunter
though, because it didn't get killed by Danny
Glover. Yeah, kudos. Up to go with the original.
Yeah, it was one of the new, like, new age predators
that was all about the technology, not about
the, not about the love of the game. Yeah, so.
Yeah. Very true. All right, Greg. I don't think
you've watched Predator, so I'm pretty sure that
wasn't on your list, but what is, what is your
first pick? I've actually seen some Predator,
but my first pick... is a TV show character,
a very beloved TV show character, a British TV
show character, a TV show character that's been,
well, it's had runs for decades. I am going with
the Doctor. Now, even more brilliant than Sherlock
Holmes, Doctor Who. Nice. Nice. I figured if
anyone's gonna go with Doctor Who, it would be
you. Yes, I figured I'd be the only one in that
realm. Interesting. Which Doctor Who are you
going with, though? I mean, I guess it doesn't
matter, but if you had to... Yeah, Doctor is
the same one. He just regenerates. But if I'm
gonna go for character traits and everything
like that to display during the story, I would
definitely have to go with my favorite Doctor
of David Tennant. All right. Yeah, my favorite
doctor is Chris. Well, what was the first one
in the reboot Chris Eccleston Chris Eccleston
because that's in a nice scene So I have seen
Matt Smith and other things and it was pretty
cool. So there you go. Yeah. All right Well my
first pick again similar Chuck I'm gonna take
a risk here because there's more pieces that
are probably more important than this character
but if there's one person on my board that has
a chance of getting picked it'd be this guy or
Technically guy I guess how you would how you
would go with it, but it is the one the only
RoboCop ooh My first pick I don't know if Any
of you guys thought about RoboCop, but I'll get
to why shortly, but that is my my first going
with the the hero of Detroit the man who still
hasn't gotten his rifle statue, but one day will
He was a backup on my list. He was one of my
primary ones, but nice guys Yeah, I'm going with
it for people wondering the original mobile cop
not the remake So I was gonna ask that I but
I kind of already knew the answer Very cool.
Alright Chuck. We're bringing it already back
to you already in second round. So you have the
predator Talk to your brother about it. What's
going on? Well, let's see I will deploy a similar
strategy as the first one and take what I think
would be the next next most likely character
I'd be afraid to be taken, especially by Greg.
I would be afraid Greg would take this character
because it's from an older movie. But my second
selection will be Gort, the robot from Day the
Earth Stood Still. Nice. I love that movie. Yes.
Wow. Yeah. I wasn't sure if anyone would go to
old school because but that's yeah. Very so the
predator in court. Yeah, interesting interesting.
So you got to think about that's a that name
You couldn't get away with nowadays. I don't
think Yeah, yeah, it sounds too like corny. Yeah,
it's just like sounds made up Here's my alien
robot gourd. Of course. That's his name. Of course.
Yeah, which sounds like a bowel movement I had
yeah Or or like a like a skin condition. Oh,
yeah, you got some port there. Yeah, you could
put a cream on that I remember I remember reading
something about like what GORT stands for and
it's like, uh, genetic organism reorganized.
I forget what the T is to be honest, but, uh,
yeah, I can't think of it technically. Give me
one second here. Uh, dude, to do tuberculosis.
Yes. Genetically organized robotic technology.
Yeah, that's not bad, actually. Yeah, yeah, kind
of makes sense. They were even into Akkinen's
way back then, so there you go. Yeah, yeah. All
right, Greg, moving on to you. You have the Doctor.
Who's joining him in your adventure? Well, I'm
not going with another person right now, because
you can't have the Doctor without his, uh, yes,
without his most useful I guess you'd call it
a device. It's kind of a character unto itself,
and that is the TARDIS. Nice, nice. I thought
maybe you'd try to be tricky and go with like
the DeLorean and just to freak people out. No,
he would fix that up to make it a better time
machine. Yeah, I guess the DeLorean or I guess
the TARDIS would give you... Yeah, and you can't
go anywhere in space with the DeLorean. The TARDIS
is time and relative dimension in space. So you're
you're hitting more things with it Alright moving
on to me my pick so this one. I gotta go with
this one I don't think it'll be on you guys's
list But I have to pick it because if not my
entire story goes to crap and that is I guess
some people my question of this is science fiction
But I feel it does because it's comes from a
remake of a science fiction film Me by John Carpenter
and that is the thing from the thing Fantastic
Four. No, not Ben Grimm. Not Ben Grimm, but the
mysterious creature from the thing that can kind
of morph into anything, basically. So it plays
a key role in my story. So we will get to that
shortly again. So I'm going to go with that creature,
and hopefully it works out for me. All right,
Chuck. We're already bringing it back to you
again. So you got the Predator you got Gort Which
would make an amazing buddy cop movie. So that's
where you're going. What's going next? Yes. The
title of my thing will be chips to Predator and
Gort on motorcycles That would be amazing random
visual and for whatever reason the Predator is
like a huge ladies man. He's like Ah, randomness.
Anyway, so yes, my third selection will be...
I guess it's not so much a character as a weapon.
And I have my Predator and I need to get him
a highly advanced weapon. And so I'm going to
bring him a Jaeger from Pacific Rim by the name
of Striker Eureka. Which is the strongest fastest
and most agile of all the Yeagers in the fleet
of in the Pacific Rim movie. So interesting.
Interesting. I just think the idea of Predator
piloting a Yeager is ridiculously badass. Yeah,
I just need it like riding a Raptor or something
like that. Just to make it complete. That's amazing.
That is pretty funny, especially if that Yeager
could like be invisible. That would be pretty
badass. Yes. Well, maybe he could project his,
uh, that technology over the whole thing. So
that'd be pretty cool. Yeah, man. See, we're
already running Pacific Rim too. You're welcome.
Yes, you're welcome. Welcome Gizmo. All right,
Greg. So you got Dr. Who you have as TARDIS.
What's coming next? So for my next pick, I choose
from one of my favorite all time. favorite uh
sci -fi movies and that would be the fifth element
and i'm going to choose the fifth element of
li lu nice nice i figured you'd go with something
on the fifth element i wasn't sure what but actually
i did plus her orange hair with the blue of the
tartis will be a striking color combination she
would be quite the companion would she not right
okay looking where this is going i'm looking
where this is going so All right. Well, Chuck,
you picked a vehicle type of weapon. This, I
guess it's kind of a vehicle, but it's more of
a transportation device. And that is, again,
from a science fiction film from the 90s. One
of Kurt Russell's best hairdos, I would say comes
in this movie. And that is the Stargate from
Stargate. I thought you were going to choose
his mullet. Choose his mullet from Which one?
Skate from L .A.? Yes. Kurt Russell has a lot
of great hairdos, but I... That I feel like the
one in in stargate is this it's just special
because it's kind of like a military cut But
not quite at the same time. It's like it's a
little weird but But yes a stargate from sorry
for those that don't know is this Device that
allows people to kind of I guess travel through
space and dimension It's not clear defined But
I know they had the TV shows as well which kind
of let them travel through a lot of different
areas But for my purposes it's gonna let my characters
go into different dimensions because I am a sucker
for that, apparently. So I almost did time travel
again, but I figured I'd stick away from time
travel this round. So far I have the Stargate,
I have the thing from the thing, and I have Robocop.
So I'm guessing you're thinking my story is going
to be random as crap and possibly, possibly.
But Chuck, you're a little bit more random too.
You have Yager from Pacific Rim. You have the
Predator. You have Gort. What's going on next?
Next, this is going to shock you, but Dan apparently
displayed some, actually, Dan and Greg displayed
some amazing powers of clairvoyance because I
am selecting Snake Plissken. Nice, that is, wow,
man, that went in an unexpected direction. Did
not expect Snake Plissken. That's right. You
have the man. Actually, it's funny because he's
maybe the first character in our draft history
that's been taken in two different drafts because
I drafted him in the action hero draft. Oh, yes.
Yes. So this is a new season. So, you know, it's
not a keeper draft. We don't get to keep characters
from one to another dynasty draft. No, no. After
after this season, we we draft to start all over
again. So. But all right, man, I have no idea
where you're going. I have no idea either. When
you draft this, like I draft my football team,
so. All right, Greg, you have Leelu, you have
Doctor Who, you have the TARDIS. What's coming
up next? Man, it's going to be so difficult this
round. I think we need, my team is so technical
at this point. I think we need something a little
bit more, a little bit more magical. So I'm going
to go with one of the - the most adorable characters,
I guess you would say. I'm trying to be a little
less pervy from a magical movie, magical series
of movies. I'm going with Hermione Granger from
Harry Potter. Nice. Wow, Harry Potter. Yeah.
Good, good call. Thank you. So, hmm, I'm surprised
you didn't draft yourself in this movie so far.
Well, yeah, we've got, well, except for Doctor
Who, which I guess I'd have to hope for him to
Regenerate into a woman. Yeah, it's it's pretty
sexy here with the lilu and her mighty granger
Yeah, I like you where you're going looking where
you're going for this next pick again Ghost movie
that you talked about not too long ago Greg that
you watched for the first time and it's a key
component to my draft So I'm glad I got it. I
was worried if I was gonna maybe a sleeper per
se, but I didn't think You'd pick this character
up and that is I'm gonna go with the xenomorph
the the aliens from alien specifically most likely
the the alien Queen if I had to get a specific
character But I'm gonna go with the xenomorphs
as a part of my movie because they're gonna play
an important role a very vital role So so is
it xenomorph in time? You know more if this wasn't
already called science fiction draft I would
so call it xenomorph in time because that is
amazing But I would love to see the a parody
of the Power Rangers with xenomorphs. It's like
They should have a like a black Power Ranger
that his his sword is like the alien Yeah, and
then like it comes out from the mouth of those
the smaller sword. Yes, she's like acid and stuff
Seriously Power Rangers again, we're writing
the Power Rangers Power Rangers just crossed
over into the horror genre What kind of like
that fan film that was made not too long ago?
All right Chuck so You surprised us all going
snake pliskin. I thought I kind of had an idea
where you're going and then you took a left turn
So you taking another turn or where you going
now? Well, we're gonna take a another sharp turn
as only this vehicle can do I need to get a badass
weapon for my badass character of snake pliskin
So I'm gonna bring him a light cycle from Tron
legacy You imagine snake pliskin on a light cycle,
I mean that's just awesome that yeah yeah yeah
that is that is amazing i wish if i had photoshop
skills i would try to make that happen but i
don't yeah i apologize that is pretty that's
pretty kick -ass pretty kick -ass all right greg
moving on to you hermione last time you're gonna
go with ron this time uh no we don't need ron
hornet in on the action I will go with a dude,
sort of. You guys, well, Chuck has his Jaeger
from the most excellent Gizmo del Toro movie.
I'm going to go with an even better director,
not with his Autobots. I'm going to use Optimus
Prime. Are you serious? God damn it. Wow. Did
not expect that at all. Thank you and good night.
Yes. Wow Mike Man, I was like, well, we're having
no crossover. This is and then boom. Sorry That
that happens. Oh, man, I thought there's no other
transformers I can pick Very nice points taken
optimus prime that was unexpected. I'm like,
oh, I thought you're gonna go hellboy and then
no better director Okay a Whole series that was
my mental emotions that just happened. So man,
it's like that It's like I finished draft all
over again feel like Ryan Matthews was just taken
for me All right, well Man, all right, so that
switches things up for me a little bit. I could
go a few directions here So we have two more
picks. This is my this is the fifth last round
is next round and kind of important I think I'll
stay the course though. I think I'll stay the
course and You know optimus prime is good. Let's
be honest the one character that does work in
all of the transformers movies It's not optimus
prime, but it's bumblebee And I think I'm gonna
go with bumblebee because I think he's truly
the heart of the transformers at least in the
movies wise So I'm gonna go with him and add
him to my team. So there you go again miserable
Yes, I quoted Yeah, so i'm going to go with bumblebee
from and and hopefully we'll see how it goes
next round your next pick is tuna uh chuck last
round already up to the last round i'm going
through this rather quickly but so you have snake
cliskin you just drafted uh a late cycle you
have a jaeger you have a predator and you have
the gort what what are you gonna put what else
are you gonna get The complete the draft. I mean,
I'm going another random thing, but this is kind
of another classic science fiction movie. Not
a real old school one, but one from my younger
years. I'm not taking a character. I'm taking
a specific item. And that is the memory implant
machine from Total Recall. Really? Yes. I believe
it's Recall Incorporated with a K. They have
the the memory implant device that they put Arnold
Schwarzenegger's character in in the movie But
I'm gonna use that in my movie I am intrigued.
I'm intrigued Greg are you gonna keep the total
recall going and pick up the three boob chick
from total recall? Are you gonna go someplace?
Automatic win Those look really hard, though.
I'm going to go with another female character,
this time from TV. Joss Whedon property. I am
going with Echo from Dollhouse. Interesting.
Is that Summer Glau? No, that is Eliza Dushku.
Again, I always confuse those two. They're like
the same person. No, they're not. Totally not
the same person. All right. All right. So my
last pick and I'll give a hint, but I needed
to go with something that was robotic to kind
of keep with my theme and Chuck and Greg kind
of stole my thunders already. I thought you were
going to call us robotic for a second. Yes, they're
actually robots. funny story, spoiler alert for
the end of the podcast. They've been robots this
entire time. No, so I, you know, I have a transformer,
but actually I needed something even bigger than
a transformer. And Chuck, you did get the most
advanced Yeager, but I don't think you got the
best Yeager because I'm going to go with Gypsy
Danger as my last pick because you can't have
science fiction film without a gigantic robot.
So that's my last pick is Gypsy Danger. Nice.
Very nice. All right, so that that is the end
of our picks but now you're wondering these just
seems like random characters So what happened
next? So this is when we get into well, what
are we gonna do with all these characters? What's
our story? What's our story's name and how how
goes it? So Chuck starting with you again, man
You you got a whole assortment of things from
characters to implants to robots. What's gonna
happen in your story? Well, mine's pretty random
as you said Kind of just thought it up before
the draft. I was writing down a whole bunch of
sci -fi movies and just seeing which ones would
kind of go together. What I thought would be
some cool combos. Um, and it's always fun to
do that because it comes out really random. So,
um, I guess, well, I guess kind of what my plan
was is that, uh, we're in, uh, sort of the world
of a sneak pliskin. He's sort of like, uh, the
central character once more and This time in
Earth when the criminals got so bad that they
designated the entire island of Manhattan to
contain the criminals, this was sort of a turning
point in history. And it's a turning point when,
you know, Earth's civilization really got barbaric
and sort of regressed in their civilization,
but heightened in their violence and things like
that. So naturally, with those levels of violence
increasing, that would sort of entice the interest
of the predator, who is a natural born hunter.
And they have this new, huge, improved weapon
called the Jaeger. And this particular predator
is trained to pilot the Jaeger very effectively.
And so he goes to Earth to... basically hunt
down some of the the fiercest and most violent
people on the earth like that are contained within
sort of this prison made in the island of New
York and So when you have them start attacking
obviously the government can't have this, so
they send in Snake Plissken once again to try
to deter the attack of Predator and his Jaeger.
And they also have sort of a backup plan in case
he doesn't work, which is the indestructible
robot of Gort, who's extremely powerful and no
one really knows his limits. So when Snake Plissken
kind of realizes the powerful enemies going up
against, he sort of takes control of Gort and
takes it upon himself to use him. And when Gort
and the Jaeger are really going at it and things
get really, really hairy. And as we know from
the day the Earth stood still, Gort has the potential
to destroy the entire planet. So what happens
is the government needs a way to prevent him
from doing that, because everything would be
lost. So we find out that They actually implanted
a memory into Sneak Plissken of those three famous
words to stop Gort, which is Klaatu Barada Nikto.
So he's so he speaks those, obviously stops him
from destroying the planet and somehow defeats
the predator and the day is saved. Right. So
you get standing clever to help them out. Yes,
he gets he gets you know, somebody that's an
expert in killing predators and You just thought
of that just before we started I feel like an
idiot because I was thinking one forever and
mine's not nearly as creative as that I don't
know. I thought that was pretty lame. So Do you
uh, I do you have a name for it or do you just
gonna go with The name the name is really tough
part. I guess if I could throw one together.
Oh and I you know, forget to mention that Snake
Plissken is, of course, is utilizing his light
cycle and all of this. And he's just, he's just,
you know, taking sharp corners and, you know,
taking people out and basically de -resing people,
even though we're not in a video game, but it
still works. That'd be a good way to take out
the predator though. It might help fight against
his invisibly. Absolutely. I think that's how
he ends up taking them down. You know, it's,
it's kind of like a light saber. attached to
your motorcycle. So exactly. Just pretty awesome.
So I don't know. I think I think it's going to
be some sort of escape movie. I think maybe we
could call it. Let's see. Escape from total recall,
I don't know. Excuse me. That's not bad. That's
not bad. Something along those lines. I'm a little
shaky on the name. Names are always the hardest,
especially when you're picking random characters
from different movies. We can always fill that
in later when we put it up on the page. Exactly
exactly. Yeah, my I'll get to mine in a short
bit, but Greg moving on to you So you got you
got a lot of you got a little bit of fantasy
in there as well. You got a lot of Interesting
character. So what's going on in your story my
story? I actually thought of While we were picking
because I had no freaking clue what I was doing
but Daleks from Doctor Who have teamed up with
mr. Shadow from the fifth element and as we all
know the tea kind of comes in and tries to destroy
planet Earth. So him and the Daleks are going
to different dimensions and attempting to take
out different worlds together, all through many
different dimensions and different spots in space.
And so Doctor Who goes out and gets this whole
team together. He puts the heart of the TARDIS
in Optimus Octo - Optimus Prime and they set
off to save all these different worlds. That's
it. That's all I got. It was very simple and
the Daleks are moving the Mr. Shadow around and
there's a whole bunch of different Daleks. There's
the biggest army of Daleks you've ever seen.
So you've got Lilo kicking ass, but she's also
going down on the planet into the... Pyramids
and places and getting this they have to collect
all the stones and everything. It's a very expansive
movie I Like it her money's there doing her magic.
Yeah, that's right. They need a little bit of
magic. She's Protecting things and throwing off
all their science -ness Is that your title science
-ness? No, I think I'm just simply calling it
the heart of the TARDIS I'd buy that movie ticket.
Yeah, I I mostly like it for having the heart
of the TARDIS installed into Optimus Prime That
is pretty badass. I'm not gonna lie. You might
get points just for that. Yeah, I'm hoping All
right. Well with my story one of my first picks
was the thing and from the thing and what my
movie does is kind of combine that with aliens
the xenomorphs what we find out is that the thing
is actually the creator of the xenomorphs and
that He kind of leads them. They're kind of his
army. So what he does is using I guess he I don't
know what you would call the thing because it's
can be whatever but and it what it does is using
its ability to mimic and become anything it goes
into Secret locations with world leaders and
ends up placing these eggs all across this World
and what happens is people start noticing, you
know, Xenomorphs are taking over They need to
figure out a way to fight back But with the thing
it can become anything so you don't know who
to trust Well, they find out the one thing that
the thing can't transform into or characters
that are robotic characters, those that have
robotic parts. It can change into animals, it
can change into humans, but it can't change into
robots. What this world does as a last -diss
effort to fight against the xenomorphs is using
Stargate going to different universes and galaxies
to try to get robotic creatures they can use
to fight back against the xenomorph army. The
first creature they get, of course, is Robocop
and then also Bumblebee. And lastly, you know
using and using these different creatures and
then the fight against the most gigantic alien
queen that we've ever seen they get gypsy danger
so imagine a gigantic monster battle between
the alien xenomorph and one of the creatures
in uh gypsy danger from pacific rim you're gonna
get that you're gonna get robocop kicking the
crap out of xenomorphs you're gonna get Bumblebee
kicking crap out of xenomorphs. It's gonna be
a whole lot of crap going on a whole lot of destruction
going on So the name of my movie is gonna be
pardon or destruction. Nice So again title doesn't
mean anything, but I just like the idea of the
thing using its influence in different areas
and then Having the fight against robotic creatures.
So I was trying to think of other robotics I
almost went the Terminator, but I since that's
kind of it can be a villain too. So in The Terminator
Robocop combination has been done before but
Terminator but imagine freaking Robocop driving
Bumblebee around that would be meant Robocop
getting out of Bumblebee like instead of his
cop car Maybe Bumblebee that's kind of badass.
That is pretty cool. Yeah So mine is pardon our
destruction So luckily you all get to vote in
