What Are the Chances?

Because it's a circle. Yeah, we heard about the

circle. Yeah, I swear the million would change.

Hi, this is Chuck. This is Greg. And this is

Dan, and we are Talking in Circles brought to

you by the Kikas Radio Network, the podcast that

kind of hates cars at the moment. I say that

for a reason that I'll get to shortly, but today

we're going to be playing one of our newer games.

We're going to be playing What Are The Chances?

We've done it one time before, but before we

get that, we're going to go over some fun stuff,

and starting with how our week has been. We've

been off for a week, so certainly a lot has changed

since then. The world's a brand new place, and,

you know, it's a... Exactly, exactly. How's it

been going for you guys? It's been going pretty

good. I got some marinara sauce on my shirt yesterday.

That would be amazing to sing about that. Let's

just keep going. We should do a podcast, Greg,

where you literally have to sing everything.

Oh my god. So difficult to do. A musical podcast?

Oh man, that would be awful on so many ways.

We'd be cancelled. Even though you can't technically

get cancelled, iTunes would be like, yeah, you're

done. Sorry. We'd all get emails simultaneously.

I think you're banned from the internet. Besides

that with marinara sauce at least does that mean

you eating some pizza? No, I was having I went

out yesterday with my parents and I had some

gnocchi and I had the fork in my hand I was trying

to cut the mozzarella cheese that was on top

of it so I could get one single piece and I went

down with my fork and I guess my I was holding

my fork of daintily I don't know why but I hit

it just the right angle that like my fork just

like spun and twisted in my hand and it flung

the piece in Yoki that I was trying to get out

of there flung it back at me went rolling down

my shirt so there was like it looks like it looks

like I got shot in the the ribs just below my

chest and like went down and bled onto my cargo

shorts Our waitress was a very quiet girl, very

mousish, and she was coming back to collect our

plates when we were done. She was like, how was

it? And we're like, good. She kind of turned

and looked at me and her eyes kind of lit up

like I actually did get shot. And she goes, oh,

my God, do you need some club soda? I'm like,

no, I'm good. I don't need club soda. The gnocchi

was very good, though. I need someone to pad

up the stain for me. I was just very bad at eating

it. I had that going on. And then also, I don't

know if you guys have... Watch this kind of stuff,

but I just got into this recently at work And

I know Dan was very into this back in the day,

but I've been I've been watching claw machine

videos Dan was into actually playing the claw

machines not watching the videos of it, but it's

kind of really thing that be really I'm like,

yeah I'm like, you know, I'm following this season

of claw machine. This guy has this guy stats.

He's got a 30 % chance of There's one kid that

does kind of like, he has his own machine. Actually,

they all do the all the videos that I've seen

these people all have their own machines and

he's like, okay I'm gonna do 50 plays and he

does the 50 plays except he had a hard time trying

to figure out the percentage that he was at I'm

like just times it by two buddy. What the hell?

One with 25 plays that must have been a really

complicated form to figure out you're trying

to get a calculator out of the claw machine But

for some reason, it's just like very interesting

to watch that at work and just because it doesn't

really suck me in all the way, but it just kind

of like gets my attention every once in a while.

So I can get some work done and kind of be interested

about what's going on up there. So that's kind

of interesting. It kind of makes me feel like

I want to play a claw machine, even though what

the hell am I going to do with the stuffed crap

that they have in there? Anyway, it's like. they

were just in the news recently like a few weeks

back they they were saying that they they actually

proved that they're rigged and they found the

ratio that it's like like only one in every 24

tries is successful or something like that well

the some of the videos that i watched i liked

um There was these two guys that had a channel.

It was like Clawstruck, I believe. There's a

YouTube channel for man. Well, it's a YouTube

channel. It was called Clawstruck and it had

these two guys and they kind of had a machine

open and they'd show you what was going on. You

can set how much the claw grips with and everything.

You could have the machine change its grip. by

it's a win ratio that's going on and everything

so like maybe every sixth time that there isn't

a win it'll increase its grip like every one

of those times and everything because it has

a laser going across that it detects something

dropping through the chute and whatnot so there's

a lot of interesting uh scientific stuff and

these guys have developed ways to beat the system

like these the two guys that i saw were very

good they had a whole Freaking bunch of bags

from Walmart because they were playing them up

at Walmart and they had like two to a plastic

bags worth of them that they were Getting out

of there with so they they know how to work the

system And so it's like maybe one out of every

six times or something to really screw into the

man by winning all those stuff Animals it's like

two grown adult men the one man is married to

a very cute woman that she calls the Stuff babe,

or did he went her out of a claw machine to is

that a funny chance probably They call her plush,

babe. That's it plush, babe Yeah. Huh. Weird.

There's this documentary called Special When

Lit, which was about people who were obsessed

with pinball machines. And it was interesting,

I guess, when pinball machines first came out,

they were actually deemed illegal and gambling,

but they eventually were allowed because they

were proven to be a game of skill, not of chance.

Yeah, this kind of the... claw machine kind of

seems like a whole gamble situation going on.

Like these people are addicted to it, it seems

like. How much money this, the one kid I was

watching just kept jamming quarters into the

machine. Like he played like, must have been

about 50 times. You probably just go into Walmart

that you're playing and just buy that same thing

for half that amount of money. Probably. It's

insane. It's like people who go to arcades and

like play skeetball and like, oh look at all

the tickets I'm winning. Yeah. Yeah, you can

buy that stuff at Five Below. Yeah. But the kid,

the kid was - It's a thrill of it, I guess. He

was good. He did donate some of the plushes to

Children's Hospital and stuff. And then he has

other - Now I feel like a jerk. So yeah, yeah.

But then he has other pin other claw machines

at home that he uses the stuff that he won and

he stuffs those that Machine and everything to

practice on I guess but it's it's very interesting

seeing that they have there interesting Chuck

how things going with you? I don't think you're

going good with me got to do some some cool things

over the last week. We're off here Got to do

a little bit of fishing. That's fun. Oh nice.

Yes Yeah Unfortunately, I lost my my lure I got

it stuck on Must have been a tree or something

on the bottom of the pond Chuck you still plenty

of a lure don't don't Don't let anyone tell you

any different. I have the lure of the animal

That was a fun time and also you know, got to

watch the NFL Hall of Fame game, which is the

first exhibition game of the year. And it's the

same weekend that they do the football Hall of

Fame inductees and everything. So I was really

excited to see football back on and stuff. And

I enjoy seeing that game just because like during

the commercials and stuff, they talk about the

Hall of Famers and they show like old clips and

everything. It's always really exciting for if

you're a big football fan. So, yeah, even the

game's usually pretty awful. But yeah, hey. Greg

being a vikings fan of vikings actually look

pretty good Knock on wood. Hopefully. I actually

didn't watch the game even though chuck told

me thank you for warning me about it But I I

was I was balls deep into watching arrow Yeah,

you once you get in there you can't you can't

get out no, he's like he's got like a duck vagina

I had had it. All right. Well, there you go.

But no bridgewater looks pretty good. He looks

you got Pocket presence and I don't think Adrian

Peterson played at all. He was on he was on the

sidelines, but didn't see him play He wasn't

near any children was he? No, he's not allowed

near children, which is weird because that's

like a high school field So I'm surprised I let

him play on it. We'll be actually doing an NFL

preview episode coming up We did one last year

So for all what we'll make sure to do it on an

episode and label it nicely So although people

who hate sports can you know skip that week,

but you know still down though Just you know,

you don't have to listen I've been trying to

gear up, get ready for fantasy football, listen

to some podcasts that have been coming back and

stuff like that. It's a little sad because I've

been on this recreational football team since

2009 -ish and fortunately we're not playing this

year so I have to get on a new team. So I'm a

little sad. It's like the end of an era. You

have to make new friends and stuff. I know. It's

weird. It's hard to make new friends after you're

like 12. You kind of settle into a group. It's

like, I don't want to make new people. So is

it like a totally different league or is it the

same league? It's going to be the same league.

I'll just have to play with a new team. Oh, good.

It's still 12 then, right? Yeah, yeah. I'm going

to enter the draft, see how I do. Kind of like

a free agent. You have to do the combine stuff,

talk to my agent, see how it goes. Any hot female...

Co -players my way. All right Sure, sure Greg.

They make you do drills like you have to do the

40 time like your time to eat like 40 wings Exactly

Chuck 40 beers. That's that's that's the key

if you can be like half enamored It's still kind

of you know run in a straight line. You're usually

pretty good. Usually it's a good sign If you

can if you can walk the 40 without vomiting,

that's usually the key But besides that, I opened

it up saying like my week's been kind of crappy

because of cars and kind of a big reason we didn't

have a podcast last week. But one day last week

I was coming home and it took me like, I don't

know what happened, but it was like the worst

accident ever. So usually my 45th an hour drive

home took about two hours and 45 minutes. Literally

took me three hours to get home in one day. The

next day, it was a long day at work for me. So

I was leaving around nine. From work. So it was

just it was long enough to begin with but like

at least I won't hit traffic because it'll be

so late I get get on the highway. I'm like right

on the highway My car kind of like stalls out

like it won't go like I keep hitting the pedal

and it won't go so I have to pull over it won't

release, you know, it's on it'll run but it won't

it's just like getting no It has like no energy.

Basically, it's not moving at all thrust I guess

you would say so I had to get towed and Boy,

if had to come drive down and get me and get

it fixed and everything so it was uh I kind of

just hate cars at the moment I'm not gonna lie

so it's not it was not fun not fun at all luckily

you know I got to work from home the next day

so that was at least one benefit because I've

been so can I do that every day yeah I've been

trying I've been trying I would also like to

work from home yeah I also like to live dangerously

But besides all that enough of the you know,

this is this is time to have fun and celebrate

So let's talk about some good stuff and Greg

you already kind of mentioned it already But

you're you're catching up with season 2 of arrow.

I know when you we talked about it a couple weeks

ago You you were a little down on it. Did it

get better for you? It did get better for me.

Actually. I thought it ended really nice it definitely

increased the drama and Craziness of it all going

on. I'm not gonna give any spoilers or anything

But I definitely think my favorite character

out of all of them, not just Willa, because she

is gorgeous, but also I really like Felicity

Smoke. But Felicity Smoke is great personality

in that show. I like the character. And Emily

Bett records is gorgeous as well. So I really

like her personality and everything that's going

on with her in season two. I do think it's funny

when they try to make her like act like she's

dorky and like oh man like oh she's so unattractive.

I'm like no. Just because she has glasses it's

not like you know. I don't think she is considered

unattractive. I just think she's considered so

dorky and so out there sometimes with some of

the things that makes her personality unattractive

to some people I guess but I kind of I think

it's kind of cute. She's adorable. Is that what

you're saying? She's adorable. Yes. But I really

like her in that. And I love that there's kind

of this tension between her and Ollie, I guess.

More her than Ollie. She really wants Ollie.

And I thought there was kind of some great openings

in there where I thought they were going to kiss

or something. So I kind of liked that subplot

a lot. And besides that, there was a lot of great

action, especially I think it was the last two

episodes. Is that right, Chuck? Yeah, they had

some really great fights in the last couple episodes

there. And it was cool because you could see

how much kind of Oliver's fighting skills had

improved. Yeah. From like when he fought Slade

in the past and stuff like he's just, you know,

so much more experienced now and everything.

So yeah. So it was really interesting and it

was interesting how the plot, I guess, developed

and how things came to be. Sorry if that's a

bit vague, but I really don't want to give out

spoilers for anybody that didn't see it. I think

it's something that you kind of really have to

experience. But yeah, that was Arrow and I thought

it was really good and I think we still have

the sponsorship by them, right? Well, it's been

a while so it's we're making up for making up

for the last time because Let's just say when

we talk about what are the chances I'll be bringing

up arrow once again But then I also I also did

watch something else that you lent me Dan you

lent it port to me for the whole nerd cred thing

how we lost our nerd cred and one of the things

that I didn't watch was a Terminator film I finally

watched one of the Terminator films I still have

to get to the other one he gave me but I did

watch T2 So you started with the second one nice.

Well, I think you just gave me the second one

and I think you gave me the Salvation. Yeah,

I don't know. Yeah, so I didn't see the the first

one, but it was all right even without without

seeing the first one I was definitely getting

what was going on. I'm not sure if that was because

I kind of knew the lore to begin with a little

bit or what but I still think you could go in

Knowing nothing and kind of figure out what's

going on. Yeah, it's pretty it's pretty straightforward

Terminators are trying to kill us and except

for this one because he's set up by John Connor

and The original Terminator is streaming on Netflix.

Okay, so there we go I'll have to watch that

maybe once we're done with this, but I thought

it was really good. I enjoyed it. I thought the

The plot was good. The characters were good.

The CGI, it's, when was that, from 90s? 92, I

think. 92. It's acceptable for 92, but you could

definitely tell with the liquid terminator, I

guess you call them. Yeah, yeah T1. Yeah that

CGI wasn't great all the time. There was some

tricks It was it was it was pretty good. If you're

looking at it from today's standard It was still

be decent, but it wasn't the greatest loved Arnold

in it. Arnold's was great But all he's doing

is playing a robot. So he's little static. So

that kind of plays to a strong suit I love to

catch phrases that everybody knows. Sarah Connor,

the lady who played Sarah Connor, a great actress,

still don't agree with you, Dan, that she is

good -looking at all. I said she wasn't deformed

like you make her. Well, she's not deformed.

I think she is, in the first one, is certainly

made to look more... Attractive. Yeah, and that's

what she's she's like a badass soldier. Yeah.

So, yeah. So. But then there was he wasn't in

there very long, but I enjoyed him in Eureka.

I don't remember his name, but he's he's been

in a bunch of things. He was a scientist in this

one. The black dude. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I always

think he's great. The guy who kind of helped

create. Yeah, exactly. I. I like him in anything

that he's in really so It had a great cast. The

only exception is I hate that little fucking

kid that It would for long. Yeah, I can understand.

He's so annoying so annoying I just wished he

would shut up the entire time That was the only

setback in that entire movie was that you're

like, you know what? I'm okay if The human race

and actually kills this kid 1000 except for Sarah

Connor and Schwarzenegger like I didn't want

them to get hurt in the process. He was almost

as annoying as Anakin from Phantom Menace. Right.

Yeah, I agree with that. So yeah, those were

my two watches. I'll definitely have to check

out the the first one. Yeah, his first one's

a lot different. It's it's it has that like early

80s movies feel that you don't really get that

much anymore So I like the 80s action movie feel

I'm not a fan of the music from the 80s We'll

agree to disagree it's and don't say it's like

take on me or something that's not like 80s music

It's the danger zone right it's like the top

gun soundtrack The top gun soundtrack is good.

I will give you a top gun soundtrack, but yeah

80s take on me. I don't like take on me But you're

talking about Edie's action films and actually

reminds me of something I did watch I can talk

about real quick You know like many people when

I heard Roddy Roddy Piper died I'm like I think

I think you got to watch they live because I've

never seen it before and I figured Now's the

time. I don't know. Have you any guys ever watched

it? No, it sounds right up my alley. It sounds

like a really bad horror film. Oh, yeah. Oh,

very much so. In the day. It's been a long time.

And I'm not sure if I actually finished it, though.

Yeah, it is like it's it's John Carpenter being

John Carpenter. You know, the premise is I guess

somewhat in what is somewhat of a future. But.

It starts the hot rod himself Roddy Piper and

he's it's in the time where like people are like

having hard time finding work and everything

and He kind of stumbles upon these people who

have these glasses an actor or him as the character

He's playing a actual character like there's

no references to his his wrestling background

whatsoever It's not like Hulk Hogan in no -hold

-barred where he's playing a wrestler or You

know the Rock who does the rock bottom in a random

movie or something like that? Even though the

rock is actually pretty decent. I like no. Yeah,

the rocks actually good actor But uh, it's it

takes place in the future and when he finds these

the sunglasses and sunglasses let him see the

what the world's really become and it's really

been taken secretly been taken over by aliens

like kind of think of like secret evasion and

He can this allows him to see the subliminal

messages that have been going on and he can see

Who are really the aliens and kind of gets involved

in this on a ground like resistance to try to

fight back Against this alien force have kind

of taken over in secret. So, you know, it's a

lot of Allegories for sure because John Carpenter

is very keen on his very heavy -handed in a good

way messages It's very obvious what he's trying

to say But it is that type of movie that you

don't see anymore and it feels good in that well

realm where it's like a movie You would catch

like mid Saturday Afternoon or late night and

it's it's corny in a good way and it's it's just

it Embraces what it is. It's it's unequivocally

unafraid to be What it is and like there's no

shame in it. It's not trying to be high art.

It's like we are this kind of corny in a way

science fiction film that's all not afraid to

be weird and You know Roddy Pepper is not a great

actor by any means, but he's fun and he has some

good lines You know the classic I've come in

here to do two things chew bubblegum and kick

-ass and I'm all and I'm all out of bubblegum

And that's where I don't know if you heard of

that That's where that awesome saying comes from

you know, but it's it's you know kind of kick

-ass a little bit of fun So I would definitely

recommend it. It's go go in with Look not I want

to say low expectations, but be aware of what

you're watching is all I would say It's not John

John Carpenter's best by any means. It's okay

John Carpenter movie. So But it's you know, I

feel you know RAP hot rod So I and you guys watch

him when he was in wrestling in the 80s. I didn't

watch Wrestling until the 90s and I only did

it to try and fit in at school Weird thing to

try to watch the fit in these leads the opposite

Watched him a little bit. He was kind of uh,

he was kind of still big when I was into it like

right around like 1990 and stuff in the 91 somewhere

in that area and I've one of his action figures

and everything but he could he kind of got out

of it right around that time I think cuz He didn't

he didn't didn't seem like he stuck around for

long cuz my favorite was always like Hulk Hogan

ultimate warrior, but Yeah, he thought he'd come

back a few times he came back in the 90 late

90s to for WCW for a little bit and he's kind

of was laughing on but he was a mainstay in the

80s I guess but you know long after I didn't

really watch it at that time so Besides that

Chuck have you been up to anything? I've been

up to a little bit not as much as they would

have liked but I did I did get to see a couple

things the one is The one is real short. It's

just a video that I saw online. You guys might

have even seen that, but it was on one of the

comic sites that I usually frequent. And it was

kind of a humorous video made about the Avengers

movie. And it was called Real Fake History, The

Battle of New York. It was done by the guys from

Machinima. It was basically like they sort of

interviewed people that were in New York when

the Battle of New York happened in the Avengers

movie and but like with a really humorous spin

on it and The one guy is pretty crazy. He's out

there and he's telling this story about the Hulk

and you know how this guy showed up on an old

rickety motorcycle and You know all of a sudden

he turned into this huge green monster and everything

But the way he tells the story is like hilarious

And of course he uses like a stereotypical New

York accent and stuff and goes like way overboard.

It's pretty funny. And also the other funny part

is they read like they read like fake tweets.

The people that people would have written like

while that was happening and stuff and some of

those are pretty hilarious They're like the one

guy's like am I am I seeing a huge blue portal

in the sky or am I just high right now? He's

like definitely high but still weird But it's

it's pretty funny videos worth checking out maybe

we can throw it in the in the show notes or something

but oh for sure I won't have to check it out

myself. It's actually one of the few like funny

things I've seen about the Avengers movie like

I've seen a lot of parodies of other things,

but you don't see too many of the Avengers one,

but So that was cool. And then I did get to see

one movie. There's an older movie. It's called

The Hunted It's Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio del

Toro Interesting is this kind of like the fugitive

but different. Um kind of yeah I'm kind of surprised

you guys haven't seen it actually but I'm not

sure of the... Actually, no, it's not too old.

It's from 2003. Basically, Benicio del Toro plays

a guy that was in the Special Forces, and he

was trained by Tommy Lee Jones, who was sort

of a... sort of a military contractor that they

hired who is like an expert survivalist and everything

and he taught all their special forces guys how

to survive and the most efficient ways to kill

and everything like you know knife fighting and

hand -to -hand combat and things like that and

you know Tommy Jones character kind of basically

retires and he goes up and lives in like the

wilderness in Canada and stuff and They actually

go up and find Tommy Lee Jones' character because

his former student, Benicio del Toro's character,

kind of goes AWOL and something in his brain

just kind of breaks because he can't deal with

the things he's done and the training that he's

had. It's too much for him to handle or whatever.

So he kind of goes, he gets paranoid. He thinks

people are like hunting him and stuff. So he

kind of goes like basically nuts and starts like

killing some people and stuff. Tommy Lee Jones

stopped the guy because he's the one who trained

him. He knows how he thinks and what he would

do and where he would go and everything like

that. It's a very, very simple plot to the movie,

but it's definitely right in my wheelhouse. I

love those kinds of movies. You really don't

have to think much. It's just a good action flick

to check out. But another reason I love it so

much is because I'm a bit movies that take place

in the woods and stuff. And this has some great

scenery and it was filmed in Oregon. the forests

of Oregon and stuff and also a little bit in

I think British Columbia and Canada But there's

some great scenery there some great action pieces

where they're just totally in the woods and they're

going down like the rapids and the rivers and

stuff and Fighting in the woods and stuff. It's

it's really cool if you're into that kind of

stuff, but it's you know, like I said, it's sort

of a Sort of a mindless plot like it really doesn't

take much to follow but it's a cool Cool action

flick to check out on a friday night or something

if you're looking for that cool cool. You watch

on netflix or just on tv. I actually um Had the

dvd of it Nice saw it way back when back in the

day But um, yeah, I was always a big fan of of

that movie. So just watch it again for a little

bit of nostalgia. Yeah cool But uh, we're gonna

do right now. Let's take a quick break I want

to know if you guys saw the actual clear footage

of the Deadpool trailer that came out. Yes. Oh,

yeah, we did. I did see the actual real footage

of the Deadpool trailer. But it looks good. It

looks pretty much the same thing. There's some

footage that didn't have that the they did have

at the comic con. But other than that, yeah,

and there's if you watch the there's a kind of.

rated R kind of trailer and a kiddie version.

The Red Band and Green Band trailer. Yeah. Thanks,

Stan. Wow. But yeah, I watched both of those.

I thought it was really good. I liked seeing

Blind Al in there and everything. So I thought

that was kind of cool. I did watch the Green

Band trailer, but if you watch that one first,

I think it ruins the jokes in a way. Like you

have to watch the Red Band trailer first. Yeah.

Yeah. I don't think I've watched the only watched

the red band trailer, so Anything else before

straightforward pretty simple I'll just be giving

out some sort of statement and what we'll be

doing is giving a percentage on what we think

The chances are of that thing coming true. So

for example, what are the chances the sand worms

from Beetlejuice will show up in my ass? 100

% What are the chances of Greg looking up at

Emily Rydeckowski? Zero. What are the chances?

Yes. What are the chances that Josh Trank will

probably never work again? Probably 95 % that

he's never going to direct a major film. Good

chance that's happening. What are the chances

that DC will reboot Batman in another three years?

Probably 50 % or so, right? Do things like that,

get percentages and have a good time. The winner

is decided in the future, I guess. I don't know.

It's a game. There's no winner. It's kind of

like who's line is in any way, but not as funny.

I don't know. We hope to be, but any questions

before we get started? So there will be no clear

winner. There will be no clear winner. There

will only be three, I guess. We're all winners

in my book. We're going to start with a little

bit of sports here. We're talking about football,

and this is kind of football related. It's been

getting a lot of talk recently, and I was curious

to hear what you guys have to think about this.

Los Angeles is reportedly building a football

stadium. They're trying to covet and bring in

new teams. It seems like it's destined to happen.

So what are the chances that we get an NFL team

in Los Angeles within the next three years? Uh,

I guess I'll go first. I'll say within the next

three years, I think the changes are pretty good.

Um, obviously you're not going to see anything

this year. They're just starting right now. And

there's, I know there's a couple options out

on the table. Like there's the, the St. Louis

Rams, which the city St. Louis is desperately

trying to keep. And then you have like the Raiders

and Chargers, I think are trying to do a joint

effort or something to, to play in LA. I mean,

I know the Raiders fans are very loyal and everything,

but I don't know if they're putting up as much

of a fight as St. Louis is, but I'm gonna go

ahead and say, I'm gonna say 80 % chance we're

gonna have an LA team in the next three years.

Greg, you think it's less than, greater than,

or equal to what Chuck just said? I think it

will be... You're gonna wait to three years and

then give your percentage. Yeah, I'm just gonna

be like, I'll talk to you later. I think it's

a pretty good chance. I'll go with 90%. They're

building a stadium. Like somebody's gonna be

most likely to go honestly i think if any team

should go it should probably be jacksonville

because i or or san diego doesn't really draw

much of a crowd either so i have a feeling that

i already agree with you guys i think it's about

80 chance it happens just because you know it's

one of the biggest cities in the world And you

know NFL's one of the biggest sports in the world

or at least in America So you would think they

would have a team someplace if soccer can have

a team and why can't the NFL will you say check?

probably more likely Jacksonville will be playing

wasting everything like why would you play eight

we develop teleporters and then maybe put a team

lose the credibility of your acronym because

I'm thinking like getting free agents and stuff

one thing about Fantastic Four when three guys

who are very much into Marvel could not care

less and talk about the Fantastic Four movie

I'd even ask you guys if you saw it because I

pretty much assumed no one did I didn't see it.

the only people that wanted to go see it were

people who had movie podcasts and had to review

it I think that's about that made up a good 70

% they're all like oh Exactly, exactly, exactly.

But speaking of Fantastic Four, what are the

chances that the next time we see the Fantastic

Four, they'll be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Interesting. I think it's going to be actually

pretty low because Fox has a hard on for that.

I don't know why, but they're just constantly

wanting to retain the rights to that and they'll

do Everything it takes to keep it like make a

crappy movie. They just did that. That's so good

Make a crappy movie before that. That's just

Well a lot better, but they're just checking

things off the bucket list. Yeah, exactly It

sounds like they'll just do anything to retain

the rights to that for the most part. So I'm

gonna say about 30 % Chuck do you think there's

any better chance or you think it's not happening?

I also think it would be pretty low because I

actually think at this point it would be more

likely that they did like a crossover with the

X -Men movies because I know there was some rumor

about that which is only that just rumor but

I actually think that would be more likely at

this point than them rejoining Marvel Studios

because they kind of have a large full plate

in front of them as far as the MCU movies for

the next six years or something. So I'll say

Maybe slightly better about 35 doesn't Fox already

have it set up that they want to do a sequel

to this movie already They did it before this

one even came out They did but there I read that

they're thinking about scrapping it for a Deadpool

sequel and that didn't even come out yet Yeah,

they said they were committed to making a sequel

again, but they also said Sony also said they

were committed to making Amazing Spider -Man

3 And then that never happened. So they tend

to say they're there. They have plans in when

the movie's still in theaters, I think, hoping

that if people like, oh, they're going to make

a sequel. So maybe it's not as bad as people

say it is, but then it ends up not not really

happening. So I doubt you're going to see a sequel.

I agree with you guys that it's probably a better

chance that we'll see them in like a crossover

with the X -Men or something of that nature.

But I don't know, maybe they'll want to pull

like. Deal that suny did with spider -man and

that kind of state keep their rights but kind

of share them with marvel I know it's unlikely

so I would go a little higher than you I would

say like 40 percent because I think eventually

they're just gonna This fifth time is the charm.

I doubt it. So fantastic five Exactly. I don't

know what's gonna happen first a good Punisher

movie or a successful Punisher movie or successful

Fantastic Four movie You know, what's kind of

weird though? The Fantastic Four has made half

the money in five days that Green Lantern did

in its first five days on theater So people thought

Green Lantern was a bomb It's twice as better

than Fantastic Four just to put it in perspective.

So Yeah, that's that says a lot. That says a

lot right there. The one review that I read of

Fantastic Four said that actually quite a few

of them, I think, are saying something similar,

but they said it basically felt like a two hour

trailer for Fantastic Four sequel. Like like

they were setting up for something that was going

to happen after this, but nothing ever really

important happened in the first one. Yeah, I

mean I would love it if Fantastic Four did come

back to Marvel Cinematic Universe not just for

the Fantastic Four But just because the Fantastic

Four have so many of the great villains, you

know They have some of the some of the best ones

and they don't doom of course, but they have

a lot of great one Yeah, Kane the Conqueror which

I guess is it's hard to determine which one's

a Avengers one which Fantastic Four but I mean

there's been a lot of Like crossover with Black

Panther even I guess King is more Avengers, but

I'm not sure if if Marvel Studios has rights

to King Yeah, it's weird. It's some of them.

They share who knows. Yeah, they need to focus

on Doing dr. Do well, too Yeah, I saw that the

one image of dr. Doom and I'm like that Makes

me sad. Yeah, and I was there. I was like a cheerleading

this film. I thought it could be good I didn't

go see it but it I got a crow on that one. So

alrighty Next one. Have you guys saw any of the

early images early previews of the new Guardians

of the Galaxy cartoons coming out? Oh Well, we'll

see then I my question for you is What are the

chances that the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy

cartoon restores Marvel's animated world TV or

movies back to their former glory? What's the

chances that we get something to the level of

the stuff from the 90s or even something as good

as Earth money's heroes? I think I mean based

on what I saw the the two clips that was I think

they were labeled Star Lord part one and part

two or whatever And I I really like them. I don't

know. I mean, it's kind of It's not enough to

say, uh, make a decision if it's going to be

as good as some of the past things, but I'm very

hopeful. I think, uh, I would probably go, I

might go like, uh, 70 % that, uh, I think it's

going to bring Marvel's animated features back,

back pretty strong. Are you currently watching

any other animated stuff? Like there's what Avengers

Assemble and like Ultimates? Uh, I guess. I'm

not regularly watching them, but just loosely

here and there. I'm watching a couple like Ultimate

Spider -Man. I actually like quite a bit, which

is strange. I've not not watched that. Yeah,

I also like Ultimate Spider -Man. I think that

was actually would be a good answer to your question

that there's already somebody out there that

is kind of doing as good as back in the day.

Not quite, but but still really far up there,

I think. Yeah, I mean, Earth, Earthman, these

heroes was awesome. I loved that. I watched like

the first two episodes Avengers assemble and

I thought they were awful And I was just like

this is what you cancelled there's one of these

years for really This it was too very it was

very kiddish to me. It was just really I don't

know seemed very generic But do you have any

faith that? The Guardians of Galaxy cartoon will

work Greg. I have no idea if I haven't seen a

single clip. I haven't seen a single Animation

character stardust Like how this like thing going

on is the purpose of that gimmick of the character

is like he's kind of like a comic book character

works out but he's apparently gonna be wrestling

each other on SummerSlam coming up So my questions

are knowing that Stephen Amell who actually looked

kind of good in the ring like there was him a

Clippy his like parkour background actually looks

like he might be a Decent maybe better than LT

was in WrestleMania, but what are the chances

that Stephen Amell mania? Runs wild on summer

slam. I Have no idea. I would watch that wrestling

if they had Felicity and Speedy wrestling I would

totally watch that Yeah, yeah, I could understand

that yeah, yeah, I was kind of fascinated by

that story a little bit I followed it loosely

but I guess they had like Twitter battles and

stuff, like kind of jokingly back and forth and

everything. And I don't know. I mean, I'm not

going to like buy a pay -per -view thing or anything,

but I. You're not going to purchase a WWE network

to watch a actor try to pretend Russell. Unless

like one of my coworkers gets the pay -per -view,

I'll just watch it there house or something.

got your X -Band tattoo, what are the chances

that Greg actually gets another tattoo to go

with his current body art? I say really low.

It was already tough enough to reveal this to

my parents. Actually, my grandmother just actually

saw it and she was kind of funny about it. Did

she ask you if it was a Nazi symbol? No, she

didn't ask if it was a Nazi symbol. My grandmother

isn't that naive, I guess you would say. But

she came in the house to watch the dog for...

For everybody here cuz the dogs not good left

by yourself. My mom had a haircut to go to I

had to go to work so my grandmother came over

and I was gonna show her but my mom brought it

up before I could even mention anything cuz that's

are the chances we actually see? Spider -man

donning the iron iron spider. I totally want

to see that I loved when they had that I actually

did a Drawing of him and the iron spider from

this one panel where he kind of first presented

and he's on a rooftop I think his hands are his

hands are on his hip kind of situation and very

heroic chest out kind of pose and that suit is

Awesome. I want to I want to give it high. I'm

gonna say about 75 % Just cuz I really want to

see it and I'm being really optimistic for some

but I think they're always afraid to just to

go straight comic book there We just have to

put their own spin on it So it may be related

to it, but I don't think it'll be you know, the

dream a boy can dream Speaking of sequels coming

out, we know that there's going to be a Jurassic

World sequel because it made a trillion dollars.

The question is what's going to be happening

in that sequel. So what are the chances for Jurassic

World 2 or whatever they're going to call it,

that we're actually going to get dinosaurs in

space? Dinosaurs in space! Space Raptor. He can

go and fight the space. Do do do do do do do

new Space Raptor as much as I would like to see

that movie and I'd be the first one in line for

that, but I'm gonna say zero percent No, no,

no like a t -rex on the on the moon or anything

like that. Oh, well, that would be funny because

he could jump really high probably Yeah, yeah

must go faster and it can't really cuz you're

you know, let's go higher Greg you think there's

any chance we get a parenactyl Yeah, and pink

Rangers in it no I also think it's it's pretty

low chances, but I would also love to see that

I'm gonna go two point three percent that it

happens because you know, eventually I think

we got to get there eventually so everything

gets in the year 3000 that'll come out Yeah,

yeah once we get real actual dinosaurs then And

they'll actually in real life they will send

one they won't CGI that shit Exactly train dinosaurs

possibly be the last one. We've had a lot of

stuff from Marvel come out this year. We've had

Ant -Man, we've had this one that was fantastic

for, we had Daredevil, of course, and Avengers,

but we still have one thing coming out, and that's

besides Agents of S .H .I .E .L .D., and that's

Jessica Jones, the next Netflix series. My question,

though, is knowing how much people love the Daredevil

series, how much Marvel is kind of hit a hot

streak right now, even not counting the Fantastic

for kiss. That's not necessarily Marvel. No,

even though the chances news outlets are saying

it's Marvel Yeah, yeah, I know what are the chances

that the Jessica Jones knowing kind of the the

expectations going into it is Going to be a disappointment

compared to the daredevil series I give it a

50 -50, because I really don't know the character

of Jessica Jones too well. All I really know

is she's married to Luke Cage and had his kid.

And I really like their relationship. So I think

like a second season of it maybe after they all

form together and come defenders and they get

kind of into a relationship. I think that would

be kind of interesting. But I don't know who

she would fight or what's actually going on with

that. So I really can't say. So I'm going to

give it a 50 -50 shot. I've given it 50 optimistic

because it's Marvel. I'm gonna give it a 50 pessimistic

because it's kind of an unknown, even though

they've done really well with unknowns like Guardians

of the Galaxy. Alright, I think that's a fair

percentage. Chuck, do you think there's any better

chance that it does well or are you even more

pessimistic than Greg? I think it's gonna do

well. I don't think I'll enjoy it as much as

Daredevil. So in that respect, I guess... would

be, I guess you could technically call it a disappointment

comparing it to a daredevil, but I, I do think

it'll be successful in sort of a surprising way.

So I guess I would give it a, probably more like

a 70 % chance that it's going to do pretty good.

Okay. So, so 30 % chance it'll disappoint. Yeah.

I think Greek 50 is a good way to go. I think

I'm a little higher than that just because I

like the cast. I think what Crystal Eccleston

is playing purple man So that hopefully we get

another good Marvel villain because we won't

have three of them at the moment So another one

would be great with it being a TV format. I think

they have a little bit within 13 episodes I think

that that might lend itself to better television

like you I know nothing about Jessica Jones I

did read alias the the comics she had for a little

bit but I was always confused because I didn't

I felt like There was a huge I always felt like

there was a huge history to that character that

I was not aware of Feel like I missed the entire

time of when she even hooked up with the cage.

Yeah, I felt like that too Did I miss something?

It's like oh they have a baby now I'm like, I

didn't even know they were dating geez, but I

think it'll be 60. I've 60 % chance is gonna

be good. I don't like you. I don't think it'll

be good as daredevil. It's gonna be different

I would assume I don't know how action -oriented

is it gonna be I it's hard to tell it's really

it's a really an enigma at this time and It's

the first time I think I've gone into Marvel

property and knew nothing really about the original

material So even garden to the galaxy was I know

I read the comic so I knew good idea what I was

getting into this one's New which could be good.

Maybe low expectations is a good thing But yeah,

so that's pretty much it for what are the chances

and I don't have a letter per se for today I

didn't get a question but from a fan But I do

kind of have a question for you guys so that

we can maybe another little topic We can touch

upon a little bit here a little discussion before

we bring the episode to a close. I Don't know

Greg if you saw this because it was on reddit

But there was this video that came out on YouTube

about CG and it's used to film and like how a

lot of people Basically say that CGI is ruining

movies and this video which I think is great

and I'll put this in the show notes as well Kind

of argued that CG is actually a good thing and

that Reason we tend to dislike CG or you hear

bad things about CGI and films is because we

only notice it when it's bad But it's really

good We tend not to even see it because it just

looks real because so much has changed with CGI

And we don't even realize it from making things

from day to night from summer to winter That

there's a lot of touches that go on that we don't

even see So I was curious for you guys like,

you know We watch a lot of action films watch

a lot of comic book movies and there are times

where it's clearly not Two men on screen. It's

clearly CGI You know when you when you see that

like something like the opening of Avengers age

of ultron Where there are moments in that that

it's it's obvious that you're not watching people

in real life But just computer animated images.

Does that ruin it for you? Does it ruin it when

you feel like you're not watching something real

or is it? When you have escapist entertainment

like that does not really bother you that it

doesn't bother me because like I really love

Star Wars and the original Star Wars trilogy

and That was a lot of puppets and you could tell

pretty much that they're puppets but that the

way that they portrayed those those puppets and

the people behind the puppets did such a great

job that it kind of just pushed it slightly over

the edge where you want to believe it. And so

you do believe that those characters, those puppets

are real living creatures. And so I don't have

a problem with CGI. It's just how well it's done.

I don't mind being tricked for the escapism element

of it. You said something like with Star Wars

and was puppets but I mean some most people would

say like that's because Star Wars works because

it's practical effects over CGI effects look

at like the Star Wars versus the prequels which

were much more CGI, you know when you watch those

so they look Less real to you because you're

not seeing practical Seriously, then I think

it's tomato tomato type of thing. Yeah To be

quite honest, I don't see it that way. It's not

something you really pay attention to. As long

as you're enjoying what you're watching, it doesn't

really affect you either way. As long as it's

well done and there's thought put into it. Like

I do like the mix of practical and CGI because

it seems to the people, the movies that do that,

it seems to work better than just one or the

other. I think if you have too much CGI, it definitely

takes you out of it. But a nice mix. It definitely

works, but I think if it's done well all CGI

it be good Yeah, because we watch animated movies

like those cutscenes in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance

the the cutscenes and that we were all like yeah

I would love to see a movie like that and that

was all CGI I didn't think even once about the

CGI really except for going. Oh, this is really

good CGI I don't think it affects like Yeah,

make sense like if like you I could see that

Chucky that are you the same way where? You don't

really it doesn't really affect you either way

for CGI or even if it's bad CGI Or you're someone

who because I know you kind of like this alone

like action films of that day Well, you more

prefer the practical real -life special effects

or you know things that where it feels like you

see Like real -life explosions rather than computer

-generated ones. No, honestly, I mean As long

as it's done fairly well, it really doesn't have

any effect on me because to me, the key component

of enjoying a movie is being able to immerse

yourself in the story. And obviously, if the

movie is a terrible story, you're going to start

picking apart things visually as well, because

you're going to get bored and you're going to

be looking for things, but or looking at an exit

sign. Yeah. And then I really have no trouble.

immersing myself in the story of most of the

movies I'm watching. Like, I really get myself

involved in it. I put myself in that world, sort

of. You really have to kind of use your imagination.

As much as these movies do, as far as they go

for using all these effects to show us things

visually, I still think you have to use a great

deal of your imagination to sort of let yourself

enjoy the movie. So as long as it's not, like,

birdemic bad, You know like this little crappy

bird things on the screen or something. I really

don't mind CGI at all and You know, like Greg

said with those some of those video game cutscenes

and stuff like some of those are so good you

could make a movie out of them and and I would

be totally engrossed in the story and I wouldn't

even care that it was CG Is there any worry that

like when you did see all could CGI that it will

hurt the chances the movie will hold up like

Greg was mentioning Terminator 2 today and how

the CGI then was certainly poor in comparison

and it made it look corny now thinking of watching

something like, for example, Jurassic World that

comes to mind because I came out this year and

watching that in 10 years and seeing what that

looks like compared to watching Jurassic Park

now. Do you at all worry that, man, in 10 years

I'm not going to be able to enjoy it because

it's going to look so bad compared to what we

have today? I don't I don't fear that at all

because I think we've. I think we're like really,

really close to the peak of like. CG representation

like right now, I mean, we can fool our eyes

so well with things that they do today. I honestly

think you could watch the things from today,

20 years from now, and we're still going to be

like, you know, that holds up pretty well because

when you look at things from 20 years. in the

past from now, you know, they weren't at that

level yet. Like you could still tell like, okay,

yeah, they're doctrinate. They're doing something

with the camera. You know, it looks kind of choppy.

It looks shaky. You know, you could pick up on

those things, but our eyes really aren't going

to change the next 20 years. So if something

looks this good now, I don't think it's going

to look too much better. It will look a little

bit better, but yeah. I can I could see that

I I do think of though there are There's movies

that they come out today. I think that's very

true where they there's computer graphics are

amazing the first thing that comes to my mind

is something like Dawn of the planet of the apes

last year, which to me like showed a next evolution

when it comes to CGI because you know those monkeys

were Incredible they were able to evoke emotion

and like it never felt like I was watching a

CGI creature Jurassic World the data times I

mean then it's not complete but then I think

of something like life of pie which is a movie

I really like and there are moments in that that

look obviously CGI But it's that's okay because

it's not meant to look realistic But you know

there are but then I think of a movie Greg that

we talked about last week or two weeks ago The

Hercules film and those special effects did look

so it Yeah, and so that like when it does look

bad it can take me out of it, but I think they're

I don't think necessarily CG by itself is ruining

movies like a lot of people have to say I think

I agree with you guys there that I think bad

CGI Well, and there's also like rare Ray Harryhausen

back in the day where he did the the little clay

models that would move and everything. Yeah.

It just gives those a different aesthetic feel

to the to the movie. I still think those are

great. You could. Yeah, that's very true. It's

an art form. Movies are an art form. This is

just a different aesthetic. This is a different

just kind of genre of getting. people's thoughts

and ideas down like it is an art form first most

and they're using the tools that they're giving

the given like somebody today could like what's

his name they did Batman Batman Returns director

Tim Burton did Nightmare Before Christmas stuff

and that was claymation stuff and he just used

one of the he selected a tool that he could use

in his movie. That's all this is CGI is a tool.

And if they could use the CGI, they could go

back to real physical effects and everything

like that. It's up to the director whoever's

in charge to pick this out for the aesthetic

that they want to put into their art. Yeah, I

think that's very true because you do make a

good point with you watch some of the classic

films like the original King Kong It's it obviously

doesn't look real, but it does look of the time

So I think if you're able to put yourself in

that mindset It may be it will hold up because

it there's a certain charm to it in that way

So there's actually really great documentary

about Ray Harry on Netflix. I think I've seen

it. It's actually really good Yeah, I would recommend

that because it's it's interesting just seeing

like the how movies were back then because They

made so many more films like all the time and

how like we talked about remakes now But remakes

back then were even more constant and they were

done like within a few Years of each other and

people would just take stuff from other studio.

It was crazy It was such a different world back

then because you could do a lot more because

you obviously didn't have the internet for people

to say things so you were able to kind of get

away with a lot more. So it's kind of, it's kind

of cool. It's a good documentary. Yeah. He did

a lot of great work and it was very time consuming,

but it was very well done. Yeah. Like his imagination

and his ability to kind of come up with ways

to make things different and make them work and

make them better than everything else at that

time. It's pretty incredible. So check out his

movies people if you ever get the chance. Definitely,

though, when you basically create a character

that suits the strong points of your actor. It's

like, well, this guy kinda acts like a robot,

so we're just gonna play a robot. That's just

brilliant direction right there.
