About this Episode

For the podcast's 75th episode, Chuck, Greg, and Dan each bring their own independent top five lists to celebrate. Dan shares his top five foreign films, Greg counts down his favorite comic strips, and Chuck covers his top five comedy movies. The hosts discuss everything from Dutch cinema and classic newspaper comics to beloved comedy classics.

This is Jason David Frank and you're listening

to the Geek Cash Radio Network. You are now on

the inside of what I like to call the circle

of trust. We are all connected in a great circle

of life. You know something Bert? What? I think

you and I are going in circles. It feels like

we're going in circles. The Circle is now complete.

When I left you, I was but the learning. Now

I am the master. Because it's a circle. Yeah,

we heard about the circle. Yeah, that's what

the million would change. Hi, this is Chuck.

This is Greg. And this is Dan, and we are Talking

in Circles, brought to you by the GeekCast Radio

Network. The podcast that is celebrating its

75th anniversary. Yes, welcome to episode 75.

It feels like just yesterday we're on episode

70. Tom Fleishman having fun, I guess. But today,

in honor of our special 75th anniversary, I guess

you would say, I guess that's a diamond anniversary,

if I'm not mistaken. We did not, unfortunately,

give each other diamond rings. I got a cubic

zirconia for you guys. Nice, nice, nice. Although

I'm not supposed to tell you that. Hey, if you

can't tell, we are gonna be giving out blood

diamonds in celebration now. One of our favorite

things to do here, or well, I should rephrase

that, one of my favorite things to do is doing

top fives and in honor of - is his top five.

Exactly, exactly. And in honor of that, we're

doing our top five as we've done plenty of times

before. It's been quite a while since we've done

the last one though, but we're just putting a

tad bit of a twist on it. And instead of doing

all the same one, we're doing bring your own

top five. So each of us has our own special five

list and we'll be getting to that shortly. And

it should be interesting to allow us to branch

off to things maybe that we all don't like, so

it'll be a little bit different. But before we

get to our top fives, how's the week been going

for you guys? My week was kind of crappy because

I think it was Monday night, I don't know, earlier

in the week at some point. I woke up during the

night and was sick to my stomach. So, I have

no idea if I caught something or ate something

bad. Did you eat one of the foods we talked about

from last week by any chance? Yeah, probably.

I did have a hamburger with some things on it.

You shouldn't eat the diarrhea burger, Chuck.

Get it without the diarrhea on there. Well, let's

just say that night I changed my name to Ralph.

That's how it's fun. Yeah, but luckily I was

I went back to sleep and I was better by morning.

So I don't know. Maybe it was food poisoning

because it was really, really short and I wasn't

sick like I had a virus or anything, but still

kind of suck because that's like one of the worst

feelings in the world. So yeah, that's never

that's never good. I think it ranks from like

toothache. is like number one for me i think

that's like the worst thing to get and then like

stomach is like three or four i would say yeah

ear aches are bad too yeah i know man welcome

to old man podcast yes so how how high do you

guys wear your pants so do you do fanny pack

in the front or the side i think i can never

decide which way to put my fanny pack uh greg

how's things going with you Also, not that great

had a couple of incidents with my my dog this

week raisin hasn't has has not been aging well

like Chuck and she she there was an accident

of she was laying behind my dad's chair at the

dinner table and he forgot she was there split

his chair back into her which Normally wouldn't

be too bad, but she's a Sharpay and so she's

got wrinkly saggy kind of skin and We think she

got up at the same time that she got hit so like

a piece of her skin got caught under the chair

so it ripped off like a patch of her skin like

there was a patch of skin and fur on the on the

the rug that she was laying on so she's got that

going on and also she's getting kind of old um

some people may have seen on twitter that i wrote

my dog is daredevil and that's because she is

apparently uh pretty much blind at this point

she can mostly just see shadows yeah so she's

not doing too well so She's about nine, I believe.

Oh, wow. I didn't know she was that old. Geez.

Yeah, we've had her for a while now. First and

only dog. Oh, wow. I only had one dog growing

up. Grew up with it literally because it was,

we got it when I was one and had it till I was

about 16, so. Wow. Sharpays aren't not supposed

to last that long. Like, she is, like, coming

near the end, like, a couple years, and she's

having other issues, too. Yeah. Oh, sorry about

that. Well, i'll try to i'll try to brighten

up the middle a little bit because I have a somewhat

of a funny story It didn't start off funny, but

it got there eventually uh, so the other day

actually when I was editing a podcast in my office

I uh, I hear I hear my wife in the other room

kind of you know, yell out to me. He's like do

you smell something burning i'm like No, I'm

no I thought maybe okay Let me see if something

the dryer was on if like maybe like something

was in the dryers Too hot or something like that

like that didn't smell burning at all I walk

off into living room and like I do smell it and

like it's weird We haven't we're not cooking

anything so it's not on nothing in the toaster

And I look up and I do see smoke near our right

near our doorway like within our like our lights

right there and I see some some smoke and I'm

like Where's this coming from? So immediately

I'm like I told my wife to leave and go outside

with uh, you know our our kid and her just I

was worried that you were getting to connor because

you're like I told my wife to leave and then

you were trying to have a space in there i'm

like no she she was holding she was holding him

actually I think feeding him and i'm like you

know it was like get outside maybe panic a little

bit because it was just like where's the smoke

coming from because i thought you know what's

going on here and i'm like walking around and

i'm like i have no idea what is going on and

the preface of this too is a few weeks ago in

our nursery like one of the outlets was actually

sparking and it was like i walked in the room

like what's that like i hear the sparking sound

don't know where it's coming from i look over

and it's actually one of the outlets it was a

loose wire something like that that's in the

back of my head So I'm like there must be something

going on maybe there it's sparking again causing

a causing that to happen So I'm going around

all the normal places that we could possibly

cause smoke the oven is not on it's not even

warm You know the toaster like microwave like

it's so I'm like, I don't know where this coming

from and you did the the places near above us

are empty at the at the moment time so i'm like

oh i don't know what's going on so i ended up

calling our people yeah we have people we have

we have fire people dan's fancy he's got people

yeah we called fire guy uh ryan from the office

uh no uh so you know outside calling them i because

i'm like i don't know if i call should call 911

i you know i don't know if because it's like

i i saw it but Do what do I do here? I'm like

I was walking on our neighbors like the neighbor's

doors, but there's no one home So I'm like, okay,

so know what's going on and I when I got hold

of me. It's like hold off I'll go I'll come and

see if I could find anything and he he walks

in I walk and walking around with him too and

you walk down the stairs and like you can smell

it I'm like, what's he can it's really potent.

You can smell it really bad. It smells like burning

And it tastes like burning, too, which is weird.

So we're walking around. He's going onto the

places to see, you know, maybe it's the furnace.

Did something happen there that caused it to

pump and burn? Like, no, that didn't happen.

And, you know, all the outlets seem to be fine.

There's no extra heat coming from any of them

or anything like that. So walking around. And

you can still kind of feel like a tint of smoke

in the air, too. So we're not going crazy. It

was real smoke. But then, you know, walking around

and he spots things like... Do you guys have

a candle on? I'm like, I don't think so. It's

like, I think you did. I guess we had a candle

on and it was really low to the point where it

completely burnt out and it became liquefied

and then, you know, burnt itself out. So it was

just. Pile of a wax litter wax liquid and it

caused it to get really smoky and burning So

this entire time it was this little candle that

ended up causing this huge mess So we know my

wife and I was like before this were thinking

of what we're coming here to see in an apartment

or at a hotel or something should I'm like running

back and forth trying to go downstairs and get

like some essentials like I'm worried I'm like

really beginning this stuff or should I just

stay out but I'm kind of going back and forth

of course one of the I did. I got my iPad, too.

I'm like, phone chargers, you know, the essentials,

all the important stuff. But at the end of the

day, it was just this little candle. Well, it

was a Yankee candle, so that's what caused it,

but I didn't know that was on, so I didn't even

bother to look there. Oh, I was trying to like

hide it to like oh, I don't I don't think we

had a candle on must be something else He's like

no, it's liquefied So it definitely was it was

on because it wouldn't be it wouldn't be and

so that felt so stupid. I'm like I am I'm sorry

about that. So have a good night because it was

like ten o 'clock on a Sunday night, too, so

The worst part of that story though. I ended

up missing true detective that night because

we're going through this entire mess sorry it

doesn't have alexandra didario so it's not that

big of a loss uh that's true but it does it does

have colin farrell though so it almost makes

sense how does that make up for didario i don't

think it does dan have you seen him i mean he's

dreaming i mean especially with with that with

that mustache he's rocking now and i don't know

the guy was bullseye he was he was bullseye accent

Especially when he's so romantic when he killed

that old lady with the peanut No, but yeah, so

it was it was an interesting interesting way

to start the week But I do have another piece

of good news that I forgot to mention actually

you could possibly lift our spirits even more

I found out recently it was in the paper this

week that um Chuck's pregnant. We're nice. No,

that's That's not possible, thankfully. I did

find that we're getting a new restaurant in our

area. We're getting a bunch of them. I'm very

excited about one of them in particular. I'm

not sure if you guys have heard of this or not,

but it's a very famous restaurant in Pittsburgh

called Primanti Brothers. I have heard of that

restaurant. I've been to Primanti Brothers. I

am super excited that we're getting one here.

Have you ever been? I have not. I was only to

Pittsburgh once and I went to see a football

game. I didn't get to stop at any restaurants

or anything. But yeah, I know they put, you know,

they're kind of famous for putting like coleslaw

and french fries on their sandwiches, like right

on the sandwich. Yes, it's coleslaw, tomatoes

and french fries. And I've always seen them like

on travel channel and like on TV and even like

during the football games, like they show clips

of them making sandwiches, like when they come

back from commercial and stuff. And I always

wanted to try one of those sandwiches. So I'm

super psyched that they're coming to this area.

I guess they did like surveys and They like the

demographic in our area or whatever, so they

were confident enough to build one here. They

liked our demographic. Fat and lazy. Hungry.

That's the demographic. There's not enough restaurants

where we live, so we clearly need more. They're

going up right next to a whole bunch of other

restaurants. I also heard we're getting another

Taco Bell, a Chick -fil -A. I heard it like once

upon a time we were supposed to get a chick -fil

-a then that went away and then there's supposed

to be something else there I heard we're getting

a salad works whatever that is I don't I feel

like now every like every food has its own restaurant

noodles and company salad where it's like instead

of like restaurant and every little thing gets

its own its own I'm going to make a corndog restaurant

There's actually a really good corn dog place

down the street for me It's like a it's not a

restaurant, but it's like a kind of a cart type

of situation It's not necessarily a cart. It's

like a it's on the side of the road. It's like

a shack They really great little hot dogs Little

hot dogs Dan. They're very insulted by that Shouldn't

say that that yeah, they were they were well

their average size hot dogs inside of a bun So,

you know, it's not the size that matters. It's

the ocean of the motion juices yeah yes yeah

it's it's the girth of the hot dog as long as

you yep and don't don't put a condiment on there

it just ruins everything i can't i can't do without

like yeah i know i like to double it up really

that's not safe guys it's not safe to double

up condiments i like to live dangerously what

can i say i like to live dangerously But, you

know, condiments are a good time. Mustard, ketchup.

You know what? I even tried barbecue sauce on

a hot dog once. It was not the best choice, but,

you know, you got to do it at least once. But

before we take a break, though, I know, Chuck,

you mentioned before we started recording that

you had a little bit of an article you wanted

to talk about. So I'll throw it over to you.

Yeah, it was something I wanted to get out now

because it has to do with a movie that just came

out in a strategic world. And it was, you guys

have probably even heard this by now, but it

was an interesting fan theory that's been circulating

the internet about Chris Pratt's character Owen

in Jurassic World. And the theory goes that from

the first Jurassic Park movie, when they're at

the archaeological dig site at the beginning

of the movie, you guys remember the annoying

kid? That said, the raptor didn't look scary.

He looked like a six foot turkey. Yeah. And then,

you know, Grant scares the crap out of him because

he has that claw and he starts telling him how

he how he tear him apart and eat him while he's

still alive and everything. Scares the shit out

of the kid and the kid can't even talk. So parenting,

you know? Yeah, you know, tactful, you know,

fright. You get to use the fear to your advantage.

But the theory goes. that that kid was actually,

you know, he grew up to be Chris Pratt's character

of Owen in Jurassic World. Interesting. And everyone's

saying like, oh, you know, totally fits because

he becomes obsessed with like, not obsessed,

but fascinated with raptors after that point.

And they hint at one point in Jurassic World

back to that. I don't know if it was intentional

or not, but. Like in the original Jurassic Park,

Grant says, show some respect. And Chris Pratt

mentions a couple of times in Jurassic World

that their relationship, his relationship with

the raptors is about respect. And, um, you know.

It tells that to a couple of people, I think.

And so people were saying that, you know, that

was kind of a hint that this is what happened

and that that's the kid from the first one and

everything. And the years actually work out if

you did the math and everything. So, I don't

know, I was just curious what you guys thought

about that. I doubt anyone's ever going to clarify

it. I think it's just a rampant fan rumor, but

it's kind of fun to speculate. I just thought

it was neat and worth mentioning. But I thought

I thought Chris Pratt was in space for most of

his childhood he was I Mean I could possibly

see it of all the fan theories out there. I've

heard a lot crazier than that one How do we ever

said the kids name in the original? Either I

know that kid seemed a little bit more douchey

than direct Chris Pratt though. I know I mean

maybe grant straighten them out, you know, like

Possibly I could see maybe him going in to be

Jake Johnson's character that yeah a little bit

more a little bit more accurate But it is kind

of also weird. It's like why was that kid even

there? Whose kid is this? It was funny to like

the actor that played that kid in the original

He was like tweeting about this fan theory and

he was saying that it's totally not true And

you know, there's no way that my character grows

up to be you know, Chris Pratt's character, and

he was denying it and everything, but for whatever

that's worth. It's like, I wrote my own fan fiction

for that character, and he becomes superhero

of the world, and he starts his own Dino Army

where he writes T -Rex, so it's completely not

within the continuity of the Jurassic Universe

that I built. He's a hero in his own mind, probably.

The whole movie only happens because of his criticism

of the Raptor. You know, but I could see that

happen. There's not there's been times where

that's happened where the fans theories or fans

fans ideas have kind of caused movies to Adjust

or this is kind of a crappy example, but I remember

with The Last Transformers movie everyone said

that oh Mark Wahlberg is gonna be in it and he

wasn't going to be but then Michael Bay liked

the idea so then he put him in it based upon

the rumor. Let's be honest, that's because Michael

Bay didn't have any better ideas himself. Exactly,

exactly. So I could see in the next Jurassic

Park movie if they flash back to that moment

and you know it's like the moment that he fell

in love with Raptors when he was scared near

to death by an old man with the who kept a sharp

rather instrument in his pocket all the time.

And then he had to go to a psychologist and eventually

got over the fear. And so now he challenges that

fear every day with his job. And now it's even

worse because he almost died. So it's thanks.

Thanks, Dr. Grant. I would maybe buy it, too,

if he were if he wore a hat like Grant. Like

that would that would really that would tie it

up. Yeah, I'm like. I don't know. I just thought

it was interesting. I don't necessarily believe

it Like to be honest, you're you're basing your

whole theory on the fact that you mentioned the

word respect like Kind of a big coincidence.

I really don't think you can face here It's I

mean think about that word. How often do you

say it? There's only a select few people that

often use that in reference to dinosaurs It's

gotta be what it means. It's gotta be It's gotta

be yeah Interesting. I do think it's funny, but

uh Yeah, definitely. Speaking of Chuckles, I

don't know how that works, but we're gonna take

a quick break, and when we come back, we'll be

getting into our celebration of our 75th episode

as we bring our own top fives. So we'll see you

in one short bit. Chuckles works because I'm

doing mine about the funnies. I, Starscream,

have taken over Transformers Prime Time. Call

me Lord. No Starscream, we will not call you

Lord, but we will announce that the GCR is bringing

everyone Transformers Prime time. That's right,

before we get into the TFG1 redone, we enter

with writers, voice actors, and more. All in

the latest Transformers review podcast from the

Geekcast Radio Network. You can find TF Prime

Time on iTunes and www .geekcastradio .com. And

remember, one shall stand and one shall fall.

All right, and welcome back. And like I mentioned

at the top of the third show, with this being

our 75th anniversary, I keep saying anniversary,

but it should just be episode. It's not like

we've been around 35 years. With this being our

75th... Episode we figured let's do something

a little bit fun. We tend to when we hit the

fives We like to do our top fives and we've rethought

of like how can we do that? But do it a little

bit differently Well in order to do it a tad

bit differently each of us is bringing our own

top five So we actually don't even know what

each other is doing So if we ended up having

the same one kind of defeats this whole purpose

I think maybe I'll start this off, because I

think mine, I'll be honest, is not the most exciting

thing in the world, but I figure it's a topic

you guys aren't super interested in, and I put

a little bit different spin on it. I guess I'll

start by asking this question. How interested

are you guys in watching foreign films at all?

Does the idea of having to use subtitles immediately

turn you off? As long as there are subtitles,

I'm good. It depends on how fast they're coming

at me. If I can't read them, then it's... a bit

of a turnoff, but subtitles don't turn me away

instantly. I think it would depend a lot on the

first like 10 minutes of the movie. If it grabs

my attention, then I'll be willing to suffer

through the subtitles. I wouldn't care, but if

it's like really boring, I'm definitely changing

it. Nice. Okay. I don't know if I want a lot

of people immediately subtitles that's deal breaker.

I know some people go with a dubbed version.

I personally am not a huge fan of the dubbed

version of things. Sometimes it's okay. If it's

like a martial arts, like old Bruce Lee. Godzilla.

Yeah, Godzilla film. And almost it adds to the

ambiance of the movie. It just seems right. It

seems like it's something that's just supposed

to be that way. So, Chuck, you said like a movie

that immediately grabbed your attention. And

that's actually kind of what I ended up thinking

of. I'm like, okay. The way I looked at it this,

I was kind of the same way. I didn't really like

foreign movies. And then I kind of got into them,

but it was like a gradual process. The reason

that process happened was I think certain films

kind of... got the ball rolling and maybe the

ones that necessarily broke the mold of what

you think of when you think of foreign films.

Because I think that there's a tendency to think

of something like the movie Amor, which was nominated

for an Oscar Best Picture the last two years

ago. And it's literally this old couple and this

old lady who's dealing with paralysis and it's

like super, super depressing. And, you know,

I think a lot of people think that's all like

France has to offer when it comes to movies.

They also have incestual movies. It's true. See

they have that they they run the gamut. They

run the gamut But so my thought was well, there's

actually a lot out there that that are a little

bit more entertaining that are that would fit

into our summer movie season and Things like

that that so I'm thinking this is the top five

starter kit into how to get into foreign films

so kind of broke it down into different aspects

like different genres and thinking of this by

the end, you might actually be in the foreign

films and realizing that there is just as much

diversity with them as there are with, you know,

American films. The number five on my list, it's

a good one to start with. For one, it's only

88 minutes long. So it's currently streaming

on Netflix and it's a type of plot. I think that

you're usually familiar with, but it's done really

well. And the movie is called Point Blank. I

don't know if any of you guys are familiar to

me. It's not point break with Keanu Reeves. Keanu

Reeves trying to speak French would be hilarious.

That's what I thought you were going to say at

first. It's point blank. I'm like, what? It's

funny because every time I try to look up an

IMDB of the tendency to put in point break, I'm

like, wait, no, that's not the right one. Point

blank. Point blank. And it's not the Lee Marvin

film from the 60s either. It came out in 2010.

and it's a very simple plot and the way I would

say it's like uh kind of has a taken vibe but

more so in the vein of the fugitive and the way

it works is there's this nurse who tends to getting

caught in like a situation outside of his normal

like a fish out of water situation where there

is a patient That is in his hospital that is

wanted by the mob or something. You don't know

This is the special force and they are trying

to use him to go get him in order to get him

to get this prisoner They can nap his wife as

kind of a blackmail chip. So it's him trying

to Find a way to get his wife back and he ends

up getting involved in this kind of crazy situation

that Involves police and the mob and it's basically

a chase film in that for 88 minutes really quick

easy plot There's I would say not huge amount

there regarding like themes or anything like

that It's just a suspenseful film from start

to finish and I think Chuck you mentioned you

like the fugitive I remember a while back. I

think we talked about it if I'm not mistaken.

Oh, yeah the Harrison Ford fugitive Yes, definitely.

Is there another one? No, there's a TV show.

Ah There you go. I thought there was something

else. Yeah It's fast -paced. There's not much

Plot honestly, you could probably read this without

watches without subtitles and you pretty much

get the gist of it for the most part so I think

it's a good one to start with it's fun and if

you like those type of films that are just like

your your thrillers your you know, your takings

your That type of movie, you know, it's not Liam

Neeson, you know, he's not kicking the crap out

of a buddy They're punching people just as normal

guy, but it's a it's a kind of your action thriller

that I think most American audiences would enjoy

I don't know if that sounds at all interesting

to you guys and by any means Okay, well, you

know, I guess I gotta work gotta work hard to

get Greg I don't know if I'll get you with this

next one because I know you're you've been getting

kind of sick of Westerns recently if I'm not

even though I replied to you guys on Twitter

somebody was asking top four which I was very

offended. It wasn't five favorite Westerns Yeah,

yeah, I think it's because you can post four

pictures on Twitter at once but not five I didn't

even post pictures. I didn't know what the deal

was. I just wrote stuff Yeah, that's why five

guys But the reason I say that just because this

next film is it is it is a Western it's You can

tell it's simply by the name and it's called

the good the bad the weird I've heard of that

one. Isn't it um, isn't it an asian Comedy kind

of spoof of a western It's yeah, it's south korean

I don't know. I don't think i'd go as far as

spoof per se It's because there's serious action

and I think it's more In the way, I kind of would

describe it. It's more the vein of maybe you

would say like of part of the caribbean Where

there's like, you know physical comedy and but

there's some serious action going on really huge

epic set pieces. They certainly Use a lot of

the tropes you see in Westerns It's more like

an updated Western because there's like motorcycles

and things in it It's like a hybrid between between

Western and not but it it's a lot of fun And

it's got a lot of moving parts really fun colorful

characters Again, another one that I would say

you probably don't even need to read the subtitles

to really get what's going on And it certainly

plays homage to the classic good the bad and

the ugly which I think is a movie you enjoy I

know it's like one of your favorite It actually

made the top four on my Twitter I did okay and

does it by the way does this have a South Korean

Johnny Depp in it because that's the only way

I'm watching it Guess you could kind of say that

it kind of does it like he would be like the

team dream boat Can perform amazing sons type

of maybe not like Keith Richards? What's the

character Jack Sparrow? But yeah, he's a little

creepy, but yet all the ladies love him for some

reason Possibly possibly not not as creepy as

Johnny Depp because I don't I don't think that's

possible to look as creepy as Johnny Depp by

the way all the ladies out there listening to

this all two of you please let us know why everybody

find out why the ladies find Johnny Depp attractive

I don't get that one at all he's creepy looking

I think it's the eyelashes it's eyelashes in

the in the in the peach foe's he called fish

layer okay Greg since point blank didn't seem

to really pique your interest as the good the

bad and the weird at all I actually have seen

it like not watched it But I've seen it appear

on my list for Netflix and I have thought about

watching it just because it resembles the name

of That the classic Western good the bad and

the ugly which I do enjoy So I I kind of thought

about watching it. So maybe I'll have to check

it out now that you have recommended it Okay,

I'm starting to bring them in I'm starting to

get it getting Greg to join the cult Just just

forget what if the elements kind of like a foreign

film. It's got a Very European feel to it and

I love that movie Yeah, I would agree. I'd agree.

I would I would I would say that's very true

It probably would be a Frenchman movie if Bruce

Willis could speak French without sounding ridiculous

The only guy who speaks French with a Brooklyn

accent But anyway, so so moving on moving on

to the top five. I'll try to get through this

quickly I had my straight kind of thriller action

film then more of the epic summer blockbuster

type of movie Western hybrid Next, it's kind

of hard. So I'm doing a little bit of a cheat

here. And I wanted to get a comedy, but comedy

is tough to begin with. Now, crossing cultures

and trying to be funny is difficult. Think of

British comedy and certain people don't like

that type of style. Now imagine when you have

a different language and so much comedy is dependent

upon timing and things like that. So comedy doesn't

always translate from country to country. So

I was like, what are some good comedies I think?

work even with that barrier and In order for

it to make sense I kind of chose to here once

more, you know on the gross end I would say lowbrow

Very much. Maybe the vein of something like a

Seth Rogen type of movie. Something Greg would

enjoy Exactly, exactly. Speaking of horror movies,

I'll translate what you're saying there, Sam.

Appreciate it. Greg is operating as my subtitles

for today And the next one not I would say this

next one is definitely not high brow But I would

say a little bit more a little safer in that

vein a little bit more It's somewhat family -friendly

not necessarily but certainly less objectable

at least in your face. It may be more Spoofy,

you know more the lines of something like naked

gun Along those lines. So those are the two movies

I'm working with The first one is it's a Dutch

film of all things and it's called clown Clown

with a K because that's how you know, it's funny.

Okay and Have you guys any of you ever watched

I know I'm pretty sure you've got have seen Seinfeld

but have you ever? Watched her see anything for

like curb your enthusiasm at all, you know with

Larry David the guy who did me time No, I know

of him and of the show, but I have never seen

it Almost feels documentary ask if you ever see

clips from it it not necessarily like the office

per se but it does seem like it's The way it's

shot like it seems mere more like real life like

you're you know, not like a movie You're just

kind of dealing with his life in reality. I think

that's kind of the same thing with clown It's

like Kirby your enthusiasm, but much more I Don't

say lowbrow a lot of physical dirty humor it's

if you take that and put in like the sensibilities

of the hangover per se and but even even worse

like there's a lot of things in this movie and

say involving kids that i'm like this would never

be made in america ever because that's no way

that they would allow that through censorship

because it's some of the stuff they can get away

with and that could sound wrong and i don't mean

it to but it's Their censorship is certainly

not nearly to the level that we have it. But

I think it's rather funny. But like I said, comedy

can be subjective. So maybe not everyone will

like it. Is there an actual clown in this movie?

No, the entire movie is about basically a guy.

And a guy with his friends going on this weekend

canoe trip that's really just an excuse to like

party and do like crazy things and drugs and

girls and all that type of stuff. It's like a

kind of getting the way so so the wild oats type

of situation, but it gets kind of complicated

because kids end up having to come along too.

So they're trying to juggle both being like with

these kids, but also trying to do their their

crazy stuff, too. So it's like that balance to

kind of where a lot of the humor comes from.

You have the one guy who's trying to do riots

and he's more straight -laced trying to get like,

you know, grow up where his friend is crazy and

just wants to be, you know, be really immature

and just cares about having sex and all this

type of stuff. So it's like you have that type

of battle going on. You know, he'd be like the,

trying to think of the Bradley Cooper maybe in

like Hangover. I'm trying to think of who else

is kind of crazy in Hangover. Maybe the Allen.

I don't know. But it's interesting in that vein.

And the second one have you I don't know have

you guys sort of the artists the movie that one

best picture a few years ago? I've heard of it

not seen it Okay, sirs John data draw down who's

very obviously French super French before he

did the artist with the same director he did

this series called OSS and I'm guessing you guys

have watched awesome powers, right and James

Bond and that's it. Yeah, baby. Yeah. Yes Yeah,

so it's it's kind of like this, like OSS is like

the French answer to that. It's not necessarily

like Austin Powers, but it's a spoof of like

James Bond and that type of character. And John

David Rojan plays the lead role and he's really

charismatic, a lot of fun. And like I said, it's

more spoofy. It's not. It's I think that one,

if you like, like I said, Naked Gun, it's not

necessarily as quick as Naked Gun, but it's the

same. I think I think at least the closest thing

I could think of comedy wise. Does that at all

interest you guys at all either of those two

I'm guessing I'm guessing Greg you might have

a slight interest in clown I'm not I'm not the

biggest into foreign films. Yeah, I don't know

It's really got a hit. I don't know All right.

Well Not getting much today The next movie on

my last minute my number my number two Actually,

I guess number four depending on how you count

it, but it's simply a drama. I'm thinking okay

I have my comedy my action my epic foreign drama

like would it be something that's but not like

I said a more or something that's like Super

heady super like serious. This is more I guess

life time II would say Lifetime you maybe maybe

strong word more so just it's not it's a little

bit easily digestible something like me now I'm

gonna go It's not quite lifetime channel maybe

more like Hallmark channel Yeah, Hallmark Channel

might be a better example or something like that.

TV movie type of drama where it's, you know,

it's a good story, but nothing all that deep.

And it's called The Intouchables, which sounds,

I know, awful, but that's the name of it. And

it's a story of this rich billionaire. You know,

all me love him. All those stories start with

that rich billionaire, but the thing with him,

he's quadriplegic. He can't move. I think the

only thing he can move is his head. And he needs

to like hire an assistant and he ends up hiring

this assistant Who's from the inner city? I think

he is an ex -con or something like that. I forget

exactly but It's his unlikely pairing of this

guy from to these two people from very separate

parts of the town and and they come from very

different backgrounds and they kind of form this

relationship with one another and it's based

off of a true story and it's interesting because

it's like the avengers of france because it's

made like so much money in that country and i

think it set the box office record in france

a few years ago and it's like i said it's called

the inductables and it is on on netflix But I'm

gonna guess you guys have no interest in that.

So I'll just finish up my list by the way, Dan

Thank you for choosing a category that I could

draw nothing for I started to you said clown

before and I started to draw a clown and then

I asked you you're like No, it doesn't have a

clown. I'm like a race What year was the about

what year was the in touchables mean So like

a more recent film or Yeah, the intouchables

was made about 2011. So does that have Omar Sai

in it? It does it has Omar Sai the guy who was

Bishop. It's like his breakout. Yeah, cuz I I

didn't see it but I saw the I think I saw that

cover somewhere and I remember thinking like

oh, that's kind of like, you know Untouchables

or something and I remember looking at like,

oh, that's Bishop Yeah, yeah, I could call yeah

that forgot that Omar Sai the guy who He was

a bishop in recently Jurassic World. I think

that was one of his breakout roles. He plays

the second lead in it. He's the guy who becomes

the assistant of the eccentric billionaire. It's

a nice, it's a sweet movie, you know. It's something

you can watch with your parents and feel good.

My last one is an all -time classic. It's considered

one of the greatest movies of all time by a lot

of people. It comes from Akira Kurosawa. My idea

was you have this starter kit, so you kind of...

briefly getting into to more serious things and

I think this one's a good one to start with because

Again, it's short and it's a really simple plot

for the most part But it's it's a can keep your

interest and just the format of it And I don't

have you guys ever heard of Roshomon. I have

not seen that anime It's not an anime I did not

buy that soup in college No, okay. Rashomon noodles.

They taste delicious. Rashomon is by Akira Kurosawa

who did Seven Samurai. He's one of the most accomplished

directors of all time and a lot of people look

at Rashomon as one of his best films. I think

it's a good one to start with because the story

is... Three separate stories, really. It's the

same story set through different perspectives,

and it's almost like a classic fable in that

aspect. It's a classic eye of beholder type of

situation. So I think it's a good movie to kind

of see what Akira Kurosawa gets into without

watching something like Seven Samurai, which

is four hours long, you know, and it can be kind

of daunting. This one's easy. It's a good appetizer,

I would say, and not to take anything away from

it. It's a great, fantastic film. My guess is

if you're ranking off of Greg's and Chuck reaction

most people would not like my foreign film starter

kit But you know, maybe if you have nothing else

to watch and you wanted to try something new

Sometimes it's watching office for the fifth

time if you're me can get daunting. So I think

I'm not a Like a hard core enough cinephile to

go into those uncharted waters, I guess well,

I would say Try maybe one of them. I mean, give

it like 10, 15 minutes. What can it hurt? And

I think maybe it will just whet the appetite

enough that you may end up enjoying it. Fair

enough. But let's end mine as quickly as possible.

And Greg, let's move on over to you. And I'm

curious to hear what you're bringing and what

your top five is going to be. I am bringing a

top five that hopefully I think Everybody out

there has dealt with one point in their life

for another and they've kind of grown up with

maybe. I'm going with comic strips, the funny

papers, the comics that you get in the Sunday

paper, no superheroes or anything like that.

So my number five is a tough one because there's

so many good comic strips out there. So I'm going

to go. with everything but Kathy. Kathy is the

worst in name. I don't like the style of the

artwork. The subject material is definitely not

for me being a guy, but she seems like a giant

bitch that I would not want to deal with on a

daily basis. And so why is she she fun? Why is

she on the funny pages? So number five is anything

but Kathy. Good to know. I figured I'd get that

one out of the way because there's so many good

ones out there. Number four, I'm kind of going

to go with a generic favorite that everybody

loves. He's been in comic strips. He's had a

cartoon, which was very good. I loved the cartoon

back in the day. And he's had some awful, awful

movies. And that would be Garfield's. Yes, I

love his sardonic style. His very hates Mondays.

Frickin this dog is super happy. What the hell

is wrong with that? I love lasagna. It's just

it speaks very much so to America, I would say.

Would you say you think Garfield's maybe your

spirit animal? Is there a good chance? I don't

think I'm as grumpy as him, especially anymore.

But I do like his style very much. I think your

back would really cramp up if you slept in a

box like that too. It would. Knowing your back

troubles. And I'm not a big fan of lasagne either.

Now I do not like lasagne. I don't like the ricotta

cheese. I don't like that. Is it because you

call it that and not ricotta cheese? Maybe that's...

Maybe try not to be so fancy about it. Yes, it's

my fanciness just completely turns me off. Do

you watch the foreign food channel? Is that how

it works? Sometimes they have foreign people

on the American Iron Chef. You watch Lydia's

Italy, don't you? What? No. I know a cooking

show. I'll just... I know a ton of cooking shows.

I know a ton of cooking shows. You ever heard

of Lidia's Italy? No. I watch the Food Network

all the time, too. Lidia Bastianich. Oh, wait,

she's not on the Food Network, though. She's

on that weird Create Channel. I don't know if

I'm the only one that gets that. Oh, that's PBS.

I think it's different than that. Oh, is it?

It's actually called the Create Channel. Huh,

so I always thought I saw that on PBS, but your

symbol is like a little spiral thing, but whatever

anyway, sorry Okay, the great mystery But yeah

like the animation form, but it's it's mostly

the stories in the character of Garfield himself

Which really brings that together for me. And

so on to number three. We have another staple

in the Comics worlds and that is peanuts. They

don't have a movie yet, but it's coming and the

movie looks Awesome. Well, actually they've they

have had movies. They were made for TV type of

animated movies And this one's going to be a

more 3d CGI Animated and the style that they

have going for that looks pretty freakin awesome

So so it doesn't bother you that they're Kind

of a banning hand drawn and not because they

made it look Like I don't know how they did it,

but they they made it look like hand drawn almost

like the style that they gave to it is is so

reminiscent of the drawings. It really doesn't

bother me that much at all. It looks really neat

the way that they did it. So it doesn't really

bug me. But they've got a whole bunch of classic

characters and every kid can relate to each of

the characters in there, and especially growing

up with those cartoons. I remember watching The

Great Pumpkin around Halloween all the time when

I was younger. It's just a giant staple in my

childhood that I really enjoyed. And I had a

whole bunch of stuff that was Snoopy merchandise

I used to wear all the time. And I've read part

of the biography of Char - Schultz don't recommend

reading that whole thing it gets quite confusing

they list everybody that's even affected his

life and there's a lot of names to try and remember

but it is definitely an interesting background

behind Charles Schultz and I love the animation

this kind of very sketchy feel to it is very

wiggly lines that that kind of crawl along. It's

just not like a very streamlined animation. So

it gives it a very unique, interesting style,

I think. And I love back in the day that he had

a different style that he drew with. He drew

the peanuts characters a little bit differently.

They weren't as crawly with the line going on,

as shaky with the lines. But number three is

peanuts. One question before you go on to the

next one. So who do you dislike more Cathy or

Lucy from the peanuts? I don't mind Lucy actually

at the only point that I don't like Lucy is when

she's being a complete Dick with pulling away

the football is then I feel extremely bad for

Charlie Brown I mean the guy just wants to kick

a football you gotta be right the only character

that I don't that I would not like from that

at all, is Peppermint Patty. I find her to be

weird and creepy. Do you have a favorite character?

Snoopy, of course. Like, either Snoopy or Woodstock.

The two non -humans. And I liked it in the cartoons

when the adults would talk. And that's what we're

going to do for the rest of the podcast, isn't

it? We can probably pull that off if you want.

Yeah. Well, I think one of the top five, that's

pretty much everyone heard. Anyway. Burn, self

-burn, self -inflicted burn. Greg, keep going.

And then my number two is kind of a little bit

more adult -oriented, I guess you would say.

Or adult peanuts? Uh, yes, more adult than peanuts.

Uh, except for that very special episode of peanuts.

Finally heard what the teacher was saying and

it was dirty as hell. Please take off your pants.

Now it's a number two. I'm going with Gary Larson's

far side. I just love that. I have a couple of

those, uh, giant books that they have. I have

a couple of those. It's just. one panel comics

with this crazy kind of creepy artwork, but it

totally works for the subject material gone and

how far out there it is. There's definitely some

interesting philosophies going on in there and

different interesting ways how to state those

philosophies. And I love the obsession randomly

with cows. I don't know why, but I just love

that. And it's just so crazy out there. And actually

just talking about it and thinking about it right

now, I want to actually go back and take out

some of those books and read some of those. But

I think Far Side Gallery has done something that

no other cartoon comic strips have really done.

And I don't really see anybody else doing it

as effectively as Gary Larson anytime soon. So

I'm going with Far Side Gallery as number two.

I have a strong feeling what your number one

is. Can I throw out a guess? Oh, it's definitely

everybody's favorite, so you can definitely throw

it, I guess. What's a really bad comic? I can't

think of really one that's not that good. Kathy.

Prince Valiant. Oh, I think I know what number

one is going to be. It's got to be Dilbert, right?

Is it Dilbert? No, it's not Dilbert. But did

anybody ever read Prince Valiant? I always skipped

over that. I'm like, this looks so boring. This

looks like learning. I don't want to read this.

No, no, no. I read it after they split up and

Prince became a musician and Valiant made comic

books. OK, and then Prince became a symbol. Right,

yeah. Marmaduke? Is it Marmaduke? No, I was going

to say that too. BC? No, not BC. I do enjoy BC

though. That's definitely one of my favorites.

That's one of the ones that I was thinking about,

but I couldn't really... Mother Goose or whatever

it's called? That's also another good one. I

enjoy Mother Goose. So do we have a real answer?

Because I know you guys know it. I'm going to

go with, does it involve a child? Yes, it involves

a child. Many of them do though. Yeah, that's

true. Marvin. Does it involve a child and his

imaginary friend? Yes. Dorthy Explorer? No, you

see him a lot on the backs of trucks peeing on

things. R. Kelly? Very close. There has to be

a small child there though that gets peed on.

Calvin and Hobbes? Very good. The Bill Watterson

creation. I actually mentioned him before if

anyone was listening close. I heard me mutter

it under my breath. It's Calvin and Hobbes. Of

course it is. It's Greg. It was a subliminal

message that I stuck in the podcast. Yes, it's

Calvin Hobbs. I think everybody could relate

with this weird, eccentric child and his adorable

stuffed tiger Hobbs. It's just great. It was

very philosophical. There's some of them that

you there was a lesson in there that you probably

didn't even know about until later in life. But

there was definitely it was it was kind of like

one of those things where it's like Pixar does

really well. It's a kids movie, but adults can

also like it. It hits all those categories that

makes it transcend age. And everybody can relate

to it and the artwork is gorgeous, especially

when you get colored versions with his watercolor

paintings. It's just so serene and you just wish

that you could live in that world. and I wish

that I seriously wish there was merchandising

for it and there just simply isn't and if you

want to if people want to learn more about it

there was not too long ago on Netflix I watched

a documentary about Bill Watterson and Calvin

and Hobbes that I highly recommend if you're

a Calvin and Hobbes fan to go check that out

it was really well done but Calvin and Hobbes

is I have Bunch more of those kind of assemblage

books than I do. Farside gallery for Calvin and

Hobbes. It's just a classic. I think everybody

loves Calvin and Hobbes. And I didn't realize

too until recently that all those Hobbes of him

peeing were actually were just all bootleg. None

of those are. Yeah. None of those are licensed

by Bill Watterson. They're they're all bootleg.

Everything. Any. thing that you see that's Calvin

and Hobbes besides the actual comics are bootlegged

or something somebody made up. I didn't even

realize that was him to be honest. Yeah, I agree.

Like Calvin and Hobbes is the one I went to when

I was growing up, but I think it's on Delta.

I've come back. It's on Reddit like all the time.

And on Twitter that I follow I think it's like

Calvin and at Calvin and Hobbes and they do Little

snippets of the comic strips and I love it just

kind of brightens my day to see those Yeah, it's

it's intriguing how like smart that is and yet

still Does make sense and a kid standpoint like

it doesn't seem like it's it the way it's written

It feels like it's actually words coming from

a child, but not but in a really intelligent

way. It's a really hard balance of strikes that

is pretty brilliant. Yeah, and the Twitter handle

that I follow is, at Calvin with two N's underscore

Hobbs. So I follow that and I get a strip every

day. And I love that Calvin goes on rants all

the time and then Hobbs is just adorable about

it. I just brought one up and I'll read it out.

Calvin's going. If you could wish for anything,

what would it be? And then Hobbs responds, a

big sunny field to be in. And then Calvin responds

that, a stupid field? You've got that now. Think

big, riches, power, pretend you could have anything.

And then Calvin looks down at Hobbs, who's rubbing

his back into the ground and kind of falling

asleep. And Calvin goes, actually. hard to argue

with someone who looks so happy. Like that one

just brings, like it's not laugh out loud funny,

but it just brings a little bit of a fuzzy feeling

to you and like you got a bright core. Like it

just makes you feel good. It's a good pick me

up in the morning, you know. Oh, hell yeah. Very

cool. All right. So Chuck, now it's over on to

you. I have no idea what your top five is going

to be. So I'm rather curious what You know, what

you have in tail for us. Neither do I. Oh, awesome.

Just kidding. It's going to be good for last

because I'm going to sort of liven up the mood

a little bit, even continuing on Greg's trend

with the funny strip. I'm going a little bit

with the funny myself and I'm doing my top five

favorite comedy movies. Nice, nice. I know we

did talk about comedy a while back. Maybe it

was last year. I don't know. It was quite a few

episodes ago, but we did, um, we did our Mount

Rushmore of comedians. Yeah. And, um, that was

a fun episode. We never really talked about like

a top five of favorite comedy movies or anything

like that. It's one of my favorite genres. So

I thought maybe like, I thought maybe this would

be a good opportunity to kind of talk about that.

I have a weird taste. I know, like, there's a

lot of favorite comedy movies out there, and

I don't necessarily agree with all of them. And

there's even some classic ones I haven't seen,

which I will get to eventually. But I do have

a couple of classics on here, and then I have

a couple oddballs that people are going to be

like, what? I don't know why he has that. Anyway,

we'll start it off at number five. And this was

really tough to weed out because I had a ton

of movies on this list like I made a List today

and I had like 20 of them on here And I'm like

damn it. I speak five of these It's like number

five. Well, I want to go with every not Cathy

Every not Cathy comedy not cat trying to think

of an actor like everything Eddie Murphy pre

night in pre Harlem nights, which that's I Could

have just picked the Green Lantern with Ryan

Reynolds for my top five company Some of us want

to see that maybe the night they got married

So we got that going for you. Some of us barely

get back on time for the pictures. Yeah, that

happened. Some of us were very nervous driving

back. Some of us don't know what we're talking

about because they weren't there. So some of

us got changed into their tuxedo in like three

minutes and then drove to the thing. Anyway,

some of us brought their wife's makeup to the

movie. So she couldn't get ready for getting

married, which wasn't a bad choice on my part.

So there you go. Oh, this is fantastic. All right.

So anyway, I guess I'll I guess I'll kick things

off with my number five movie. And this, like

I said, was very tough. And I really went back

and forth on this. I could even change my mind

next week. I don't know. But right now I'm going

to go with my number five. Favorite comedy movie

dodgeball Really? Yes. I like dodgeball. I'm

a I don't know. I'm into really goofy comedy

it doesn't have to be like eloquent comedy or

subtle or implied or anything like I'm not gonna

lie. I'm into slapstick and Goofy stuff and I'm

actually a pretty big Ben Stiller fan Yeah, if

you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball.

That's right. And this movie is like There's

so many great quotes in this movie. I mentioned

I like Ben Stiller a lot. I'm also a big Vince

Vaughn fan and I like a lot of his movies. So

they're, you know, they're put together in this

movie and just, I love everything about this

movie. Anytime it's on TV, you have to like stop

and watch it. And, you know, I sing along with

all the quotes and everything and it's like,

never gets old. Every time I watch it though,

like Ben Stiller's character, I can't help but

think of heavyweights because it's like a similar

guy. I find his character hilarious though. I

mean, you can tell he's trying to be so over

the top obnoxious that it's kind of ridiculous,

but that's what I love about it. It's shoving

it right in your face. This is the ridiculously

annoying guy that everyone knows. Even like his

hair and his facial hair. Yeah. I look like a

douche. One of the funniest parts of that movie

that I always laugh my ass off about is this

weird part that probably no one really notices,

but it's like he bumps into this guy. I think

it was a guy from the audience of one of the

dodgeball matches. He bumps into this guy and

this guy had a huge soda he was carrying. And

he just backhands the soda out of the guy's hand.

It goes flying. And I don't know why, but I lose

it every time at that part. I just laugh my ass

off. It's so funny, because, like, who is so

ridiculous that they would do that just, like,

for no apparent reason, just knock the soda out

of the guy's hand just because he was there?

Nice, nice. But anyway, loved that movie. Loved

Dodgeball. Almost went planes, trains, and automobiles

there. That's also one of my favorites, but...

Ultimately, I decided against it because the

ending is kind of sad It is a good comedy, but

uh, and I do love watching it around Thanksgiving

everything but I think the the downer ending

just barely got it out of the top five for me

but My number four number four everyone's gonna

recognize this as well. This is probably gonna

be on a lot of people's list This is one of the

classics and that of course is caddyshack Nice

nice. Yeah And also two more of my favorite comedians,

Rodney Dangerfield and Bill Murray, smushed into

one movie and they get all the great one -liners.

And of course, Bill Murray wasn't supposed to

talk at all, but Harold Ramis kind of encouraged

him to improvise and create his own lines and

everything. And it just turned out to be pretty

much epic. So question, where do you stand on

Caddyshack 2? One of the worst comedies or the

worst comedy of all time? I have actually never

bothered to watch Caddyshack 2 because it had

no one in it, so. It is, it is, yeah. Don't,

don't. Unless you want to see Dan Aykroyd try

to impersonate Bill Murray from the first one

for no apparent reason. Though, Robert Stack

is fun in it, so. Nice. He has a good time. Yeah,

I kind of figured that that one wasn't worth

watching, but. Yeah, that's another movie that

there's so many great quotes in that. duty part

the turd float in the pool and one of my favorite

lines to is when Rodney Dangerfield tells talking

about the guy's wife and He's like, oh you must

have been something before electricity I Love

the hatch up to it's like that's an awful hat

but looks good on you though. Yeah You got Chevy

Chase in there too Which I heard wasn't there

something that he did not get along with Bill

Murray or something? He did not get along with

humans Something like they wouldn't talk through

the entire filming of the movie or something.

I don't know I wouldn't I wouldn't doubt it like

he's notorious has issues with like everybody

so yeah But I read that like they like all the

cast would go out like partying after every day

that they finished filming or whatever and like

As they progressed through the movie and started

to get towards the end of filming like It started

coming back to bite them because everyone was

showing up late and everything every morning

So Yeah, but that's definitely a fun movie. There's

tons of quotes in that and I think that's on

a lot of people's top five list number three

for me, uh I think I think number three for me

is going to be the oddball one. Maybe not too

many people would agree with at all, but it's

one of my favorites. I saw it as a kid, which

probably isn't the best one to see as a kid,

but I still thought it was hilarious. And that's

Grumpy Old Men. Oh, I love Grumpy Old Men. Yeah.

Absolutely loved that movie. And it's one of

the. One of the oldest like comedies I remember

watching, because I think it came out in 1993

or something like that. Was only like eight years

old at the time but What the hell, you know,

there's a lot of innuendos in that movie. Give

her some of my phony baloney. Yeah And there's

a guy named Chuck in that movie too. So, you

know, that's why I connected that in the you

know, the old man he's kind of like making his

dirty comments and Saying like looks like Chuck's

taking the log to the beaver But uh, I really

like Walter Mathau and Jack Lemmon Those guys

were like, they were friends in real life. They

did, I think, 10 movies together over their career.

They did, obviously, Grumpy Old Men, one and

two. There's a couple other ones that I've seen

that I really liked. I think one of the odd couple

movies, and Out to Sea, I really thought was

funny too. But these two were really late in

their career, and I felt like they just did these

just for them, just for fun. And the whole movie

was just totally having fun. and one of my favorite

parts of these is at the very end even when they

replay these on tv because they just did the

other day actually they always show the blooper

reel at the end oh i love the blooper reel and

that to me is like almost the best part and you

can't even show that movie and leave that out

like you have to show the blooper reel at the

end that's it's just essential and uh you know

you got burgers meredith in there and What's

the other guy? Kevin Pollock. Yes, Kevin Pollock,

the master impressionist himself does a really

good Christopher Walken impression, actually.

Yeah. But yeah, he has a great podcast, too.

Yeah, I heard that. Yeah. So a lot of a lot of

fun stuff in those movies. The first one is definitely

a classic. So that's my number three. Number

two. We're getting down there. Know this is one

that we all used to watch together when we were

younger and Not as young but when we were like

teenagers, this is one of our Favorites, I think

and that's airplane nice. Of course. How could

you not and I mentioned before I'm a huge like

slapstick fan and I like goofy comedy and I think

airplanes pretty much the king of that Yeah,

and I think all the movies that we quote it's

probably gonna be up there, you know as the most

often Right. I mean, you got like, don't call

me Shirley. I have a question. This woman needs

to be taken to a hospital. A hospital? What is

it? It's a large building full of patients, but

that's not important right now. I have a drinking

problem and he throws the liquor in his eye.

Yeah. Tons of stuff. And then you got Leslie

Nielsen and Robert Stack appears in this one

too. Yeah, it was pretty pretty funny there.

But yeah, it's Chuck Connors Yeah, yeah, Chuck

Connors playing the Sarge. And I think the second

one not nearly as good, but it has its moments.

There's a I do enjoy the second one. Yeah Not

quite as good, but I do like it. It's a step

down, but it has some fun parts. Shatner is in

the second one. Yeah, it's William Shatner actually.

There's actually the best part involves him.

One of the the best like visual gags ever. Yeah,

and then the woosh doors. Yeah, the guy actually

making the woosh sound you pay him to do that

Yeah, I love airplane, um There's not much else

to say about it, but I know that didn't what's

wrong with you. Right exactly And that's that's

the type of movie. That's right up. Leslie Nielsen's

alley to like that's kind of what he Like that's

his bread maker right there like naked gun and

all those are like the same style of comedy.

So So, here we are, down to number one. So yeah,

I was thinking airplane would be number one,

so I'm not, I don't know. It's close, it's real

close. You guys might not expect this from me,

out of me, and I'm not saying I live the kind

of life that's exemplified in this movie, but

I enjoy watching the other idiots do it, and

that's hangover. I think Hangover was the first

movie I ever saw where I did not stop laughing

through the entire thing. That was quite the

great first watch. It's hard to think of that

when it first came out because it wasn't necessarily

supposed to be the huge movie it became, but

I know there's a lot of backlash with that movie

now because it became popular, but when I saw

it the first time, it was even better than Beerfest.

It's right up there. I don't know. Yeah, that's

kind of what I'm going on because like for first

time watch like the shock value and I saw it

in the theater. I remember like my stomach legitimately

hurting when I came out of there because I was

laughing for two hours. Every scene that came

up, like every successive scene, I was just bursting

out laughing just. sides building like never

seen anything like that like I've seen a lot

of movies with You know, it was kind of like

a roller coaster There's ups and downs and a

lot of funny parts But that one for whatever

reason just like I could not stop laughing through

the whole thing It was just and like I said,

it's probably just the shock value like You didn't

expect there certain things to happen. So they

just kept you kept you off balance for the whole

thing. So So yeah, that's way My current top

five comedy movies. Might change by tomorrow.

You know, obviously there's some other classics.

I love a couple that almost made the cut. There

was really tough decisions for me was Tommy Boy.

Love Tommy Boy. Yeah, Chris Farley is amazing.

Mentioned playing strange automobiles, scary

movie too, which I know it's a spoof movie and

it's kind of lame, but for some reason that movie.

Cracks me up like no tomorrow. Which one is that

the one with the strong hand? Is that that one?

Yes, that's the strong hand one and that's the

best one in my opinion I really didn't care for

the first one or the third one and I think I

quit watching after that But uh, what are they

on like 2012 now? It's like, yeah, I have no

idea obviously like office space love that one

vacation Are you a dumb and dumber fan or not?

I am i'm not a huge dumb and dumber fan, but

I It is a good watch. I enjoy watching that once

in a while. How about Super Troopers? Yes, Super

Troopers. Currently, I had Super Troopers number

18 on my list. How deep did you go with this?

18. I don't know. I kept shifting around. I didn't

know where to put some of these, but Super Troopers

is up there. Coming to America. I love that one.

Oh, I love Coming to America. That's definitely

one of my favorites, Chuck. Yeah, and one one

you wouldn't think of as a comedy at first Everyone

thinks of it as a Christmas movie, but Home Alone

Nice, you know, I enjoy that movie. Yeah You

know where young young child almost murders two

adults. Yeah We watched that like during Christmastime

not too long ago, and I didn't realize as a kid

just how short the actual You know invasion part

is it's not, you know, I just remember that's

all I could think about but really it's like

15 minutes of you know Of the entire movie. Yeah,

why don't 15 minutes? You know, you don't make

out they don't make like a physical humor that

much anymore They could not make that movie today

would not oh, I know they tried trust me they

they have Two more home alone. I think there's

four of them That makes me sad on the inside.

Yeah, three and four have like different actors

and like... It would be funny if they kept Macaulay

Culkin in 18 and 22 years old. Like two kids

are trying to break into his house. Yeah. Yeah,

and then I can't go without mentioning a Robin

Williams one. One of my favorites as a kid was

Mrs. Doubtfire. Hello! It was a run by fruiting.

It was a run by fruiting, dear. Yeah, very nice.

So that was our first attempt at bring your own

top five and as you can see I probably should

have left mine at home, but you know Luckily,

but before we end our special 75th episode that

time I did not see any anniversary. You wanted

to I heard it in there. I know It was coming

out was coming out. But last week we instead

of having a letter we had a request and We got

actually some decent responses. I forward one

on to you guys and actually got a few more as

well, which is awesome. So very happy to see

that. Because we are lazy and don't feel like

doing it anymore. Don't reveal our secret, Greg.

Don't wake the baby. Shut that baby up. But yeah,

so last week I put out a request to see if we

can have people write in questions or their own

letter and we got a little bit of both but the

first letter we got and I severely apologize

for saying your name incorrectly, I believe it's

pronounced Kevin. Is Kevin spelled with the semicolon?

Is that why it's hard to... Kevin Lehay? Sorry,

it's Keyvine. Keine it's the V is silent. It's

weird It's Kevin Lehigh, I guess I'm gonna get

Lee I I'm not exactly sure I apologize if I said

if I'm saying it correctly, but he wrote in a

letter to us and Interesting enough. It's about

a show. I actually watched I haven't really started

the second the third season yet But do any of

you watch Hannibal at all? I heard about it didn't

watch it. Okay It's I it's a great show. It's

actually it's intense and surprise It's on NBC

and now no longer because it recently got cancelled

and Kevin wrote us a letter regarding it one

thing I should ask you if you do write in a letter

also include where you're writing from because

I'd be kind of it's cool to kind of see where

people are located and all that fun stuff, so

But here's Kevin's let Kevin is from Walla Walla,

Washington. I think that's good seems legit.

It seems legit. Okay good But so here's Kevin's

letter regarding Hannibal being canceled. Hannibal

is a beautifully produced series with exclusive

and undoubtedly expensive production values.

A rarity for a network series, but alas, the

ratings were not always low. Not unexpected that

it's been canceled. Still, NBC should be applauded

for taking a chance with this one. This is not

on them. This isn't Constantine that didn't get

a proper treatment or a horrible release schedule

and was never given a chance to find an audience.

NBC gave Hannibal time. Three seasons, in fact.

Maybe they could have promoted it a tad more.

A commercial here and there wouldn't hurt. The

best thing NBC didn't do with Hannibal was get

in the way. They let the show be its own thing

and not fit into the mold of your typical NBC

show. We got three seasons and I'm happy about

that. Hannibal Lecter, like Michael Myers and

Norman Bates, will always live on in some way

or another. Netflix, Amazon, heck, even YouTube

could pick up the show and give it a second life.

Somehow, someplace. Hannibal will find a way

to hunt again. That sounded creepy. Good line

there, Kevin. Yes. I would second his sentiments

that Hannibal is quite the great chowitz. The

stuff they get away with a network TV for that

isn't saying like and I'm also a huge man Mickelson

Mickelson fan and I would I would dare to say

I think he's a better Hannibal than uh, what's

his name? Who did the movie? Oh Say he did such

a good job that he made Dan forget. Oh, I know

but we'll be back next week, same time. Same

has been Chuck, and happy 75th, you guys. This

has been Greg, or Owen. Respect me! Respect me!

I am your elder, and I play with raptors. Respect

me. And this has been Dan, not respecting you.

And we've been talking in circles, and we'll

see you next week. 75 in the books. Feels good,

feels good. You love me a long time. What? You

say that every time and you never fall for it.

One of these days. One of these days. I can't

love you as good as Carol. Don't, even, that's,

no, that's not combining these things. Greg,

you uh, have you seen a grown man naked? Uh,

yes. Oh, did I even reach out to you guys? Wait,

wait, wait, don't stop recording it. Did I ever

tell you guys my story about being on a senior

trip to Disney World? I don't think so. Okay,

well, down at Disney World, and we're at the

water park. And so we're going to get changed

in the changing rooms. They have this very nice

facility down there. And they have like a little

common area where you could take care of us some

stuff But then they have actual little nooks

that you can close the doors. It's kind of like

a changing room at a Department store and so

you could go in there and get all all the way

down to your tears skivvies But there are many

old people that like to go to Disney World and

there are many Europeans that like to go to Disney

World So I was there taking off my shoes to put

my sandals on and I had my foot up on the bench

and bent over to untie my shoe when my friend

tells me don't look behind you which of course

I'm going to look behind me which behind me I

mean I was looking at my friend to the left and

behind me was to the right So I looked the other

way, and there was just an old dude just loitering

with his saggy -ass balls hanging out, like,

two feet away from my face. He wasn't getting

changed or anything. He was just standing there,

loitering. Like, kids around, running around,

like, I can't... He's soaking it all in. Oh,

I think I could just run right into his saggy

old balls ass. and it wasn't just one guy either

there were multiple people and then there's european

people are wearing speedos and that should just

no i don't need to the woman's form is very attractive

man's genitalia are ugly and just they're just

ugly it's just a weird looking thing but yeah

Behold Behold Either they're proud of the just

they don't care anymore in the water park I think

he was just there to hang out in the changing

room It'd be really funny if you guys have the

same thing. Top 5 favorite laughs of all time.

Ray Romano! Friend Dresher. The guy from Revenge

of the Nerds. That one? Yeah. Ready to keep going?

Steve Urkel. We could actually do a list, look

at that! We just need one more. Kendra Wilkinson

from the Playboy Bunnies. I don't know her. Oh,

her laugh is really annoying. What about Janice

from Friends? I don't - oh wait, I think I know

that one. She's kind of like Fran Dreyfus. She's

around the same type of Bill Cosby, I don't know.

Eddie Murphy, maybe? There you go. Eddie Murphy.

Perfect. Now he's not laughing anymore. He's

only crying. Remember like the time I had a career

and then I made... Then I tried to make that

album. And I tried to pick up a hooker. I just

wanted to party all the time. That's all I wanted

to talk about my girl and how she liked to party.

And the sad thing is that made a lot of that.

That was like number one, I think. I think it

did. Yeah, I think it did. It's not an awful

song. Michael, that's to party all the time.

I don't remember. Sounds like he's saying potty

all the time. Weird out cover. My girlfriend

has a really tiny bladder. She's 79 years old

too. Alright, that's all going in the... Nice.

Good banter, gentlemen. Good banter. Alright.
