We are back! Back in the podcast saddle. Yeah,

we were offered well Chuck and I were off for

two weeks and Greg was off for a week Thank You

Greg for holding on before the fort for that

one week. Appreciate it We'll get to why in just

just a short bit, but before we get to that like

how those things we can go been going for you

guys Stuff's been busy for me Greg how's it been

for you? Doing a doing a good job. They're holding

down the podcasting fort Thank you. I'm not sure

if it was quite as interesting Just by myself

because there's no one to talk to you need somebody

to talk to in a podcast Otherwise, it's kind

of boring, but I try to hold up my own. It's

a very heavy end that I'm holding here, but you

know Yeah, didn't they get my Yeah Water's cold

this week So is it going for you, Chuck? All

right, I guess just busy with family stuff going

on and everything and nothing too entertaining

or funny or anything to speak of. So the get

into why we were out for two weeks. Well a few

weeks ago. I had my first child. So it's kind

of a It was a little bit of a big deal so You

know with that I felt it would be kind of inappropriate

if I was like I know You know telling my wife

to like I'm gonna go away for a few hours the

podcast while you take care of this newborn so

Good luck with that. So because of that we get

family down. So we Unfortunately, we planned

on doing some recorded episodes, but it came

quicker than expected, so. That's how this started

in the first place, Dan! Ha ha ha ha. I think

I got it. Coming faster than you expected, that

one. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's not as good as when

you have to explain it But yeah, so you came

a little earlier than expected, but it was it's

been quite an adventure last few weeks I do have

some interesting story. So I figured you guys

would enjoy enjoy some of these Well, I'll poop

stories. Everybody get ready We'll get to that

eventually and that happened a lot quicker than

I expected it to it was like immediate But the

actual like so the actual like going on so This

is kind of like set the stage. It was like on

a Monday So I'm at work and I get a text from

my wife saying that there's a good chance it's

gonna be happening today But don't know for sure

but there's a there's a potential so I'm like

at work and I'm like I get this at like eight

in the morning so I'm like going through my day

and I'm waiting because it's like depending upon

and I'm actually halfway through a group interview

I get the text that it's happening. So I'm like,

well, I'm leaving So just to kind of let my person

know and I walk out the door and you're hired.

I gotta go Luckily it was the only person there

so I just kind of got up looked at my phone left

and I was on my merry way, but uh He's having

a child But it's actually didn't that was a Monday

actually didn't happen to the next day, which

is a Tuesday But it was it was a rather large

long process I mean pilot longer for my wife

than than I was I was cracking a lot of jokes,

which I think My wife appreciate Exactly I was

I was the major cause of labor pains more so

Which I feel like should be an Arnold Schwarzenegger

movie like sequel to junior junior to labor pains

Something like that, but a bad joke. I apologize.

I have not had a lot of sleep So if I fall asleep

during this podcast, I apologize so it happens

to Tuesday and it's this whole process and ends

up coming up we have to do a session and There

wasn't the original plan, which is fine. It just

kind of happened to have that way. So So we go

into the room to have it happen and I'm actually

sitting outside until like they get everything

situated and I'm gonna come in and I'm in like

scrubs and everything I'm like got the mask on

so I'm trying to prep myself like not faint because

I'm like I don't want to see you know see a lot

of blood and it's faint like that would not be

good not be a good way to start this all dance

a manly man people so it's going through all

this but like I can kind of hear In the room

and like the epidural is not really working So

like ends up having happen to have that they

had to put it under they have to put her to sleep

Since that's happening. I can't be there because

you have to act really quickly So I have to leave

and I said go back to the room and I'm there

for I felt like it was like five minutes Like

if not even that they come back into the room

saying like oh, no actually because it's such

a weird situation You can come in so I'm prepping

myself again. I'm like, okay, so prepping myself,

looking, I don't want to faint, I don't want

to faint, I walk in, I look over in the corner,

and there's a baby, and I'm like, huh, guess

I use this room for multiple people, whose baby

is that? And it was like, see you got a baby

there! Whose baby is that? I'm like, oh! That's

oh, wow. It was it was just complete like shock

So I'm thinking like it's gonna be the actual

surgery and the baby's already here and like

out and I'm like, whoa, that's that's a baby

and So it was kind of it was like, you know I

didn't even get the option of doing like the

umbilical cord cutting or thing like that. So

I'm just like whoa, it was just like Taking a

back kind of a interesting like thing. It's just

like that did not expect it. It's wow There's

a baby sitting there and he's crying and it was

it was awesome But it was also just it was like

one of those things where it's like you don't

there's so much going on I can't you can't even

really it's like surreal, you know, literally

was the most surreal moment of my life It was

just it was crazy Getting to the poops. Thank

you getting to the poop story, which is obviously

fun So the the first time I change a diaper have

you guys ever heard of perconium? He's related

that he's related to clay face Which actually

wouldn't make sense because well, you know when

babies first poop they don't poop like normal

normal feces they poop No, they pooped his perconium

because it's from them being in the womb and

getting that and to understand what it looks

like, it's like tar. It's like tar coming out

of a child. It is so I'm going to change the

baby for the first time. My wife's in the hospital

bed She had the c -section so she can't get out

like she's stuck in bed and I'm a little bit

away So I get the diaper I'm opening it and he's

like mid mid crapping like in the midst of it

I'm just it's like coming out of him like he's

being squeezed and it's like it's like uh, it's

like toothpaste But if that toothpaste was like

a tootsie roll like it's like everywhere. I'm

trying to wipe it down It has like a life of

its own. It's impotent. He gets his feet in it

and it's like everywhere this feeder. It's the

symbiote. I started doing weird dancing. It was

so weird. I put my hair up and use it for hair

gel. It was awful. But then and then just to

top things off, he starts peeing everywhere and

like on himself, on me. And it's just like this

huge like poop and crap. You got to cover. You

got to cover the wee wee while you're taking

care of other things. I've learned. I've been

told that by my parents. It's actually what's

funny is we got these for like a gift. They're

like these things you put over the weewee. Like

it's in one shape of a basketball and a soccer

ball and a football. So if he pees, it's like

a guard. It's like I'm going to offend many Jewish

people right now. It's like a yarmulke. Kind

of. Yeah. But it's like a little gate that you

kind of put over it. And it's kind of funny.

It's like you're centering your baby with like

this. We can't love this sir. It was kind of

crazy. It was not It's gone better since then

that's like that that perconi himself goes away

eventually But it's it's nasty business And I

I didn't know that was a thing until like I'm

like what the hell is happening and my wife's

explaining it to me like oh I thought something

was wrong because it was like it looks like like

you said an alien symbiote. I'm like Venom like

who weird no, but It uh, it's been it's been

eventful on a lighter note on a lighter note

I've actually been able to read a bunch because

with the baby being up all the time Like I don't

know about you like when I wake up and then I'm

up and I'm trying to get back to sleep And I

kind of trouble so I've been trying to read a

bunch and I wanted to get caught up before secret

war started It didn't happen, but I read a few

things and have you any you guys read superior

iron man at all? I would advise not to because

it's not very good. I Don't know it takes place

after axis and if you don't know what axis is

It's a story in which red skull has taken the

brain of Charles Xavier Is can trying to like

change the world and in the midst of that battle

of stopping him The heroes are changed forever

like not forever But they're the axis like the

good guys are becoming bad bad and bad guys are

becoming good personalities basically on flipping

on ahead and That goes with Iron Man and unlike

the other ones Iron Man doesn't get better after

it's all over So he's like a lot more arrogant

than he used to be. He's drinking again He's

almost he's basically a villain but the issue

with like superior Iron Man I find it is that

takes place in San Francisco and the premise

starts is that he Opens up extremis again for

everyone like as this like app for people that

kind of like Make themselves look better and

like kind of make everyone feel like it's almost

like a pseudo heaven in a way but the thing is

like that was really missing in it is that you

really don't have a good grasp of The inner monologue

of Tony Stark at all. There's not it just things

happen. You don't really understand the justification

of it like His voice is really limited. So it

becomes a really one -dimensional character.

That's not all that interesting it's just and

he's kind of hard to root for because he's such

a horrible person and It gets a little bit better

when Daredevil shows up because he's currently

in San Francisco, too And there's a interesting

like dynamic between them. But overall I like

I like the art but it's just there's Little little

dialogue and I think it just could go a lot better

if it just kind of fleshed out It's the character

this new version of Tony Stark a little bit more

and it feels like it's just trying to a little

bit more Robert Downey Jr. into the point of

like ad nauseam So I don't know. I just was not

not a huge fan of it Good to know I shall steer

clear But I know I know Chuck you said you did

get an opportunity to watch a movie. What did

you get to see? I did and I haven't gotten to

watch much lately, but this was something I did

get to see over the weekend This was a movie

that I wanted to see because of a recommendation

of a friend of mine It's a World War two film

in a sense. It's called Defiance. Oh, I know

that it's not it's not the show Defiance. It's

totally different Yes, yes Daniel Craig and Leo

Schreiber or however you say his name It's basically

based on an amazing true story of survival by

a large group of Jewish people in 1941. For Jewish

people again, guys. Sorry. This makes up for

my incidents before? Well, it depends. Time will

tell. You might make it worse, depending on what

you say. But basically, there's this large group

of Jewish people that survive in the forests

of Belarus. as they hide from the German soldiers.

And, um, they were led by the Bielski brothers.

And, um, there's actually four of them, two of

them are older and that's Daniel Craig and Leah

Schreiber. And the group started very small and

actually ended up being around 1200 people, um,

as the real story goes. And from what I've read,

the, they only lost about 50 people out of the

1200 by the time the whole thing was said and

done, but. Well, basically they hide out in the

forest. It's complete middle of nowhere. Like

it's really like desolate area. They build makeshift

shelters out of timber and everything. They develop

rules and laws and everyone has given chores

and responsibilities and they just become completely

self -sustaining in their settlement and everything.

And part of the reason why I had a friend recommend

this to me was They kind of said that it definitely

had a Red Dawn feel to it, as sort of the Wolverines

were forming a resistance group and everything.

And it definitely does have a similar feel, but

it's also very different because their goal with

the Wolverines was to sort of attack and disable

key components of the Russian military and strike

fear into them and everything, whereas in Defiance,

their goal is to simply survive. They do their

best to stay hidden and they only fight when

the soldiers sort of discover their location

later on in the film. So, you know, one one brother

does lead a group of men. They sort of join up

with the Russians for several battles and stuff.

But the majority of the group stays together

in their little settlement for the duration of

the film. It really is an incredible story. And

for the most part, I really, really enjoyed the

movie. it made me try to imagine like how difficult

this must have been. And it sort of also played

into my fantasy of roughing it in the woods and

sort of leaving society behind, which I sort

of drifted into that daydream every now and then.

Especially stuck in traffic. Yeah, definitely.

And it worked. But as much as it was entertaining

to watch, it really was, I did enjoy it, but

I didn't feel as wowed as I thought I would.

And it just seemed like for most of the problems

the group faced were sort of amongst each other,

until the very end that is, but I thought like...

I thought they could have done a better little

bit better job of portraying the larger threat

of the Nazis like certain scenes were definitely

emotionally charged and everything but overall

I didn't didn't sense the fear that they were

living in in such fear of the Nazis and everything

as I would have liked I really seen a little

bit more of that I felt sort of I don't know,

sort of detached like through most of the movie.

Like you're kind of following the group, but

you almost forget what they're hiding from. Like,

you know, you forget the bigger picture. But

I really like the acting in it. Schreiber was

especially great, I thought. And I was I was

impressed with Daniel Craig as well. For some

reason, I didn't I couldn't picture him in this

role. I didn't think he would do well. But, you

know, he did a pretty good job, I thought. But.

And I don't know if you guys have seen this or

not. Dan, I'm guessing you probably have. I remember

seeing that in the theater, if I'm not mistaken.

That way back one. OK. Yeah, and I remember liking

it as well. It's been years. I think this came

out like 2008 -ish, if I'm not mistaken. Yeah,

2008. And I remember really liking it when I

saw it and trying to think if there's anything

that... The thing that comes to mind when I think

of that is kind of funny is potatoes. So now

that's like a huge like element to it. Yeah.

And every time I like have it like a potato that

goes bad, I just think that movie pops in my

head because I didn't realize the potatoes could

go bad until I saw that movie. I see what you're

saying. Like I can kind of understand where someone

say it's similar to Red Dawn, but like totally

they're nothing alike whatsoever. Red Dawn's

a little bit more of the top action. It might

be on Netflix. Did you see it on Netflix? Or

did you? No, I borrowed it from someone. Cool.

All right. Greg, I'm guessing you read something,

Greg, because you are the relative reader here.

So I'm curious to see what you've been up to

in our time away. I also read something with

Jewish people in it. I guess that's the theme

today. I don't know. Superman? No. It's not Superman

of all the guesses. That is I Read the Golem

and the genie, which we all know the Golem is

a stone creature from Jewish folklore Golem from

what are the rings? What is that? No, they're

they're different and And so for the story this

German Jew is kind of greedy, kind of an asshole,

kind of like me with these women, very, like,

very picky. And so he's of the age where he should

really be getting married, but his business is

going to shit. So he goes to this Jewish rabbi,

who's kind of an evil rabbi kind of dude. Then

he goes and he pays this rabbi to make him this

perfect wife. So the Golem is born, and... On

their way over to America is this is takes place

when America is kind of just 1920s, I guess it's

a little bit running. So, you know, that's right

before the Great Depression. Yeah Yeah, and well,

maybe it's into the Great Depression a little

bit. Maybe my history is a little off here. But

anyway, they come over the man awakens the golem

midway travel to America and wakes up the the

golem he dies and the golem escapes and is anonymous

in new york city and she's like trying to figure

out her way in the world and so we've got this

like kind of a baby coming into this new world

everything's kind of brand new and everything

but she's scared of everything because she comes

into the care of a good rabbi who's kind of trying

to figure out should he keep her alive should

he destroy her Like, what do I do? And he's kind

of questioning himself. And but meanwhile, in

this B story line, there's this in the Middle

Eastern kind of conglomerate of America, this

gentleman, he's metalsmith, and blacksmith, thank

you, metalsmith, blacksmith, blah. But he's taking

on different tasks from different people in the

neighborhood. And he's asked to fix a bottle

an old tin bottle of some sort and so he fixes

it but in the meantime of fixing it a genie pops

out but it's not a traditional genie this guy

is he's in a human form and he's a little bit

more solid and if you're a creature kind of like

the golem or kind of like him you can you can

see that he's a genie something different but

humans can't really tell but since this guy magically

appeared in his shop the blacksmith knows kind

of what's up and so they kind of form a partnership

together in this business and the genie has lived

before uh over in the middle east in the desert

um and he's kind of stayed away from humans for

the most part but towards the end of his time

he was kind of dealing with them and he was captured

in this bottle and he doesn't really know much

about what happened there. So she's the gullum

trying to figure out her life in like this new

existence and the genie's trying to figure out

his life in this existence and I thought it was

going to be more of an action type of story.

I didn't really know what it was but it's a lot

more fantasy and a lot more kind of social aspects

going on and being figured out in this tale.

And it's definitely you're trying to kind of

looking at things in a new perspective of they

kind of do represent people coming over to America

for the first time to try and get something new

for themselves and try and figure out. It was

a good tale. It wasn't the greatest story i've

ever read but it did come to A happy conclusion.

Let's say that probably gives it away, but I

really don't recommend it for anybody I got it

because it was it was on the cheap It was a kindle

daily deal or something longer story. Is it kind

of a quick read? It took a while. I don't know

how many pages it was because it's on my kindle

and everything It was it was on the longer side.

I'd say it's about 450 pages, I'd want to guess

after all that like you said you wouldn't recommend

it for people No, not really It was okay, and

it kept my interest, but it was it was kind of

on the edge there a lot of things not to recommend

today So let me throw one out real quick that

I would recommend and I'm only like two issues

in it and I think there's more out but uh it

and one a book never thought I would ever say

is probably what I never thought this would be

one of my favorite books currently but it is

and that's unbeatable squirrel girl which sounds

weird but it you know it debuted earlier this

year squirrel girl is kind of like a like a running

joke in the marvel world in a lot of ways though

like she's questioningly really powerful and

like defeat like galactus and dr doom But uh,

this book is it is like super super quirky the

title says it all it is exactly like a book you

would expect it to be that it stars squirrel

girl, but it's just really fun and it's Very

light. It is like if this was made into a movie

I feel like squirrel girl would be played by

like Zoe Deschanel or something like that It's

just like the adorable type of like socially

awkward character who you know is unable to like

relate with people and kind of had fumbles and

kind of clumsy a little bit but it's still superhero

and it's just got it's got a really good sense

of humor to it and like the use of her powers

and the for in the first issue Craven shows up

and it's just kind of like interesting how she

deals with characters it's not necessarily that

she beats them through physical force or things

like that but she can also talk to squirrels

which becomes rather interesting and she's trying

to like hide her secret identity but she's really

bad at it and He just doesn't know how to handle

it. But it's really different. And if you're

looking for something that's out of the norm

compared to your really serious action books

and things like that, I would definitely recommend

it. It's not for everyone. You'll know if it's

for you within the first few pages. So maybe

read a preview or something like that, and you'll

be able to tell right away. But I do end up really

liking it a great deal. If she can talk to squirrels,

she should tell them to calm the hell down. I

swear like every one of them has drank like a

pot of coffee She could talk to squirrels. She

would rolled like my campus at a day when I went

to college because Everywhere they were just

they just like down in the campus all the time

and they weren't even scared of people They would

like walk up to you like and like, you know There

was one really fat one that got fed by everybody

and he was huge and he couldn't really move too

well Climb trees anymore What do you think was

on that French fry? Could you bring it over to

me? His tail is basically just a pillow now because

he can't really move. It's bad. There was a kid

on my college campus that one day I was walking

along the sidewalk and he was trying to catch

a squirrel. He had an acorn tied to a fishing

line. He's hiding behind a tree and he's jerking

the line. And the squirrels just stand there

looking at him like, you're a freaking idiot.

I'm just shaking my head walking by. It's the

dumbest kid I've ever seen. What do you do when

you catch him? He's going to tear your face off.

There was a kid in my high school who on the

senior trip to Florida tried to feed a squirrel

a piece of gum and he got bit and we almost had

to stay behind because everybody thought he had

rabies. Wow some true winners in today's culture.

What if it's the same guy? But one thing I didn't

want to talk about it's been out for a little

bit But you know, we've been away for quite a

while and the like I don't even know if I want

to call it a trailer It's like a mini episode

of Supergirl came out. You know, we are in the

midst of like tons of superhero tv shows you

know flash and arrow just ended we had daredevil

the other marvel series coming out and there's

like another heroes of tomorrow or something

like that for that's coming out too i don't even

know Legend of tomorrow and then now we have

Supergirl and we got our first look into it and

like I said It's like a six minute preview and

I'm kind of curious what you guys Guys thought

of this and if you have any interest in that

in watching it when it comes out I guess Chuckie

will start with you since you are I know you're

a huge smallville fan and you know you You when

we started this podcast one of the biggest things

we talked about was arrow So does have any interest

at all or you you know, what are your feelings

towards it? Got a little bit interest out of

not a whole lot, but I'll probably check it out

because of like Just to check out the the heroics

and stuff like that and see how they weave some

some References in there to the DC universe and

stuff, but I just feel like I feel sort of disinterested

in the in the show a little bit because they're

selling it like At least in this trailer, like

really corny and cheesy, in my opinion. Like,

yeah, that's I don't know. Maybe maybe those

are the wrong words, but it's it's it's just

seems like it aimed at like a tween age demographic

or something like 13 year old girls or something.

Definitely feels that way. I feel like this feels

more like a CW show than the actual superhero

shows on CW. Yeah. And that's great. I mean,

that's. You know, that's fine if they want to

do, but I don't know if personally it would be

my type of show. I'm definitely going to check

it out just to see how it goes and like see some

of the effects. Everything I what I did love

about the mini episode or whatever it is, the

plane, the plane crash scene where she's like

saving the plane. that was pretty cool and how

she like tips the plane to go in between the

bridge things like the bridge towers as it's

crashing and stuff um she saves the day and everything

that was pretty cool some of the references but

i don't know i just get like a weird vibe from

it like it's not it's not aimed at me so like

i don't know it's not that it's a bad thing but

i don't know i don't know how well i'm gonna

like it what you're saying uh uh greg what are

you what are you uh what are your feelings toward

it I really didn't watch the trailer fully. I

didn't have volume on. I don't know why. I wasn't

doing anything dirty, guys, for once in my life.

But I didn't have volume on and, like, I kind

of didn't stay on any spot. I kind of skipped

around in it. Uh, kind of got a vignette of what

was going on as much as he can with the sound

off. It looks really nice. Supergirl looks really

pretty. I don't know. I don't think I'm gonna

actually watch that one, though. It's seriously

like where is she working at? It looks like some

kind of fashion thing. It looks like the devil

wears Prada I'm like they're like it feels like

they're it's like devil milk wears Prada meets

like the arrow or flash or something like that

Yeah, so it like Chuck said it kind of doesn't

look like it's supposed to be for me I mean I

think it makes sense that it is you know geared

towards that audience because you know You're

going towards an audience that maybe is not you

don't have a lot of superhero shows You know

gear toward which feels odd that it's on like

CBS, right? It's it's being aired on CBS if I'm

not mistaken, which it I don't know which seems

strange that that that's the avenue it's going

but I'm similar to you guys like I the benefit

I think is that it seems like it's gonna be light

-hearted kind of like flash. It won't be so self

-serious There's been a lot of references to

Superman just in that one episode So I hope they

don't like rely on that too much or can you do

that without having Superman show up? Do you

eventually have to kind of? I have to have him

appear in some way, or I don't know. I guess

you necessarily don't, but we'll see. I do, with

a wife who likes Glee a lot, I am very familiar

with that actress because she was, she kind of

was like a regular on Glee. She came in when

like they were trying to fade us out, like the

old cast, and she's gonna be like the next big

star, but it didn't end up working. But I thought

overall she was pretty good actress. It's weird

because she played like a freshman in that in

high school and that was like a few years ago

and like this she's older and she was actually

like I think 26 or so or something like that

because she was briefly on homeland for a while.

She'd like a small cameo, but uh, I don't know.

I'm same with you. I don't I have little interest

in it. I would say I probably check it out. See

how it is. Give it give it a chance. Maybe an

episode or two, but I think it'll probably end

up being better than Gotham, but I don't know

if I'd have any interest in actually watching

it. That's not that difficult. That's kind of

the low bar at this moment. I'm interested in

seeing how well it does, because I guess Agents

of S .H .I .E .L .D. and Peggy Carter have been

on ABC, but outside of the Marvel machine, we've

only had DC's only been on... cw so and they've

done really well for cw but will they do cbs

is like they have like the biggest net shows

for ratings wise so will it be able to sustain

that like we can you know gain an audience and

i guess it will be see which i think is why they're

really building up that superman angle since

it's more name recognition but and haven't you

guys actually ever watched the supergirl movie

uh no no i've been wanting to pick it up like

I saw it at FIE one time and I wish I grabbed

it, but I get the feeling I have not seen it.

If I'm not mistaken, I thought it was made for

TV, but I could be wrong. But I'm curious if

it's going to get a resurgence with this coming

out. But yeah, I am curious about the show. Like

if maybe they're just selling it a certain way

with this being the first sort of trailer clip

sort of thing, like maybe maybe when it hits,

the tone is going to be very different. It's

it's hard to say. Like Agent Carter, I thought

Agent Carter was amazing. I love that show. And

that's like it seemed more grown up, though.

You know what I mean? Like it's so fit. If it

sort of turns into something like that, I'm really

going to like it a lot, but we'll just have to

see when it comes. It seems strange that it does

feel very much geared towards a very limited

audience, and considering it is on network TV,

usually you don't have that. CVS shows are very

broad. They have CSI and those type of shows

which kind of go out to such a general audience.

Maybe they'll like maybe it will kind of change

throughout time I mean not necessarily that means

if it's geared towards a specific audience. It's

bad It's just you just wonder if it's gonna have

the crossover appeal as something like flash

does or even agent Carter to Which I need to

catch up on because I've only watched it the

first few episodes and I stopped watching it

because I'm an oval person but oh that and yeah,

this this one a lot of people are wondering if

they're gonna have eventually have crossovers

with arrow and flash because I know it's on a

separate network, but the executive producer

for both flash and arrow Greg Berlanti is working

on Supergirl and if at the beginning of the clip

you sort of hear her say like my name is Cara

Zor -El and Blah blah blah like which is kind

of how flash and arrow start like my name is

Oliver Queen. My name is Barry Allen So they're

kind of doing the same thing, but I know CBS

said right now They're not interested in a crossover,

but I think they want to see how it goes first

You know, maybe try it out a season or something

and go from there. But, you know, who knows?

That would be huge, like a huge benefit to all

of them. So I don't see why they would be against

it. I mean, I get CBS thinking like we don't

need them, but, you know, it would be kind of

cool. The only problem I would say is if it's

like if like tonally, they're vastly different.

But when you kind of stop and think about it,

like they're able to take Arrow and Flash and

merge them together. So like. Those were pretty

different at the beginning, too. So I don't know.

It's interesting. Well, we'll definitely see.

I mean, it's kind of like, you know, Daredevil

compared to the Avengers or something like that,

like they're very totally different. So if they

do ever combine and kind of be a similar challenge.

So I wonder. Yeah. But while we're on this topic

of of female superheroes, I wanted to throw kind

of a question. This will be like the main thing

we go over today. We'll see how long it lasts.

But so a few just I don't even know a few weeks

ago. There was this article, I don't want to

say article, but an email from a Marvel CEO,

the CEO of Marvel was leaked, and it was him

writing a letter to the CEO of Sony, basically

explaining how female superhero movies don't

work. And he listed, like, Elektra, Supergirl,

and a few other Catwoman, and showing how they

were huge failures, and like... From like billions

of years ago exactly maybe not the best examples

and it was like a hacked email that I think WikiLeaks

got and put up in a different article in different

people posted it and a lot of people looked at

that as because there's been a lot of pressure

on Marvel to produce more female content like

more like, you know, some people ask for like

a black widow movie or you know, Miss Marvel

and stuff like that. So this actually ended up

having a discussion or debate with some people

on Twitter regarding this topic and regarding

well, not necessarily regarding if Marvel should

have female. It was more so regarding the email

being showing that this guy was misogynist or

not. But getting to the topic of Looking at Marvel

and superheroes in general. Do we feel like looking

that we have Supergirl and you know, we have

Agent Carter, but do we feel like Marvel DC and

others should do more and Incorporating more

of the female characters since we don't really

have a lot at this time I think You could if

they are actual Good characters if it's just

like a blase a crappy character that no one really

cares about, then no. But you do have this, it's

becoming deeper, but the mythology behind Captain

Marvel, Ms. Marvel, whatever you want to call

her at this point, or even people have been thrilled

about the new Ms. Marvel who is, what's her,

it's a Middle Eastern background and she's Muslim

and everything. I don't know but but she's she's

people are thrilled by her because her dimensionality

with Because of her background and everything.

So I think if you have a character like that

who's kind of built up and sturdy Then I say

go for it. But if you have a character, I'm not

coming up with any examples which I feel terrible

about but like You want somebody with a good

character, a lot of great dimension. It shouldn't

matter whether it's man or woman or anything

like that. What do you think? Honestly, I think

women aren't represented in comic shows or TV

as well as they could be. But I don't think things

are terrible out there right now. Shows like

Arrow, obviously. brought some more female -centric

roles like Black Canary, Nyssa Al Ghul, and stuff

like that. We have the new show coming out, Legends

of Tomorrow, which you talked about, which is

going to be existing in the same universe as

Flash and Arrow. And we're going to have Hawkgirl

on that show. She's going to be a regular on

that show, which I'm actually really excited

about because she's a unique character with some

great potential there. So I'll be looking forward

to that. And obviously, You know you talked about

black widow which may be helping or hurting the

cause i'm not sure because a lot of people want

You know her own movie and everything And I know

people were picking apart like the the avengers

toys that were coming out saying that she was

being left out of some things I was reading some

things like that. But um, I know You know a lot

of times people find stuff, you know where there

isn't anything either. So sometimes people stretch

things a bit, but um You know Someone that is

getting their own movie, like you said, Carol

Danvers, Miss Marvel herself, Captain Marvel.

That's pretty exciting. Well, I'm really excited

about that. Like Greg said, if you get a great

character, like even a male character, like a

terrible character, the movie is just going to

flop like, you know, I know, like I know it's

a cult classic, but Howard the Duck. Well, yeah,

he is he's a different different species, but

he you know, he's a I mean that was terrible

terrible and you know, there's some others but

like you have great characters like that they're

that they're trying to do now like Black Widow

and Captain Marvel and Hawk Girl and Supergirl

and Black Canary and things like that. Very strong

and really great superheroes in the comics, ones

that I really enjoy reading. Scarlet Witch. That's

a great Avengers character that I've loved for

a long time. I'd love to see him bring in somebody

like She -Hulk. I think that would be pretty

cool, you know, into the movies or something

tied in with the Hulk. I know they have so much

going on, they might not be able to pull that

off right now. But yeah, I don't I think it's

it's getting. a lot better than it was um you

know back when we just had electro yeah you know

that things were things were pretty bad back

then but yeah it's It's becoming definitely a

lot better and it's making the whole genre more

exciting because You guys think if because I

you know The email that referred to like his

big thing was that a female superhero character

or superhero film wouldn't work But are you guys

feel like it would is in the reason those movies

failed that he referenced weren't because they

were female because they were bad Absolutely.

Yeah, it would totally work. I mean the reason

the reason they failed is because they were terrible

movies and terrible movie makers whoever made

them like I mean even Like I said, it doesn't

put in the gender thing aside like You know a

lot of people rag on Daredevil which Not the

show but the Ben Affleck movie, which I kind

of happen to like a little bit But in its own

ways, it was pretty terrible in some parts You

know going back to like the the 80s Punisher

with Dolph Lundgren. That was freaking horrible.

You know what I mean? Breaking up models dark

past with with a Howard Duck in the first lecture

movie But that's what I mean like those are just

my examples like if you know if you make a bad

movie it's gonna come out bad like it You know,

you need a strong character and then you need

a strong Like, you know everything strong screenplay

and everybody working on it. You have to put

together this great masterpiece so You know,

you pick a great character, that's like the hardest

part. Yeah, I mean, I definitely agree. I mean,

the bait that I got over very much when I was

on, like I said, reference to this article that

was posted in regards to this email that was

sent out was... I question when people make judgment

calls on about a person based upon like a piss

piece of information and like it was just if

you look at the email it's in the midst like

of a middle of a conversation so you don't even

know like what they're referring to exactly and

I feel like a lot of people use this like like

to get people you know what I mean and like to

like use this as evidence as a horrible person

and he doesn't know what he's talking about and

stuff like that and Yeah, the media does that

a lot with the ambush interviews on people, too.

Yeah, and they'll take one sound light and make

it. thing was like I don't I don't like taking

one small piece of information and making a judgment

call just because that's what people are doing

and I know there's been a lot of push from Marvel

to make more female films and you know there

was like hasn't and I know like Kevin Feige says

it's some questionable things or was it him when

they asked him why aren't they making a Black

Widow movie and he response was like yes we are

and it's it's Captain America Winter Soldier

and a lot of people were like taken aback by

that like all you don't think she can have her

own movie And I don't necessarily know if that

was the case, if that's what he meant, because

if you're looking at, like, Civil War Captain

America, it's almost like another Avengers movie,

because there have been all these rumors of people

that are going to be in it. It's almost like

every Avengers is going to be there. So I feel

like Black Widow, in a way, I don't know if trying

to champion her getting her own movie is the

best idea. I do think the character could support

it, but I do think a good starting spot will

be, you know, Captain... Marvel or Mr. Marvel,

whatever they're going to call it. And I do think

a female superhero movie could work and TV show

could work. I mean, look at like something like

Buffy, you know, like that's not a superhero

movie, but it is very much like in the same reign

by a guy who writes comics. So if you have someone

like Josh Whedon, like I would love to see Josh

Whedon maybe not go after Avengers movie, but

write like a Black Widow movie or because he's

really good at writing female characters. Like

I think he did a great job with Black Widow in

the first Avengers film. And and I think you

make a good point Chuck that there are a lot

of female characters within male shows I mean,

you know agents of shield is an asamble cast

which has a lot of which is very female base

as well and I do think that Marvel can do a lot

to improve that and in you know We're getting

a Wonder Woman movie coming out too and it's

kind of it is kind of depressing that it took

this long to get a Wonder Woman movie and I know

DC was like a lot of people was you know yelling

at DC like how do you not make that but Marvel

can have a movie with a raccoon in it but eventually

it will happen. And I think the part where it

stems from though is that when thinking about

it, Marvel, when it comes to solo female characters,

there's not a huge abundance within Marvel. like

there's not like a lot of people that come from

there's a lot of like great like female x -men

characters because there was that book going

on that was like all female x -men characters

which was great but like when you go to like

solo characters there's it's a limited limited

amount um you know you have miss marvel and captain

marvel and that's you know she hulk is a good

one i think she hulk could be a good movie too

but i think marvel could do a lot just to diversify

regarding you know and just doing it in a way

that makes sense but I know there are other female

characters we feel like would could actually

warrant their own show or Movie that we know

we mentioned a few Which kind of says a lot when

you like maybe you know that there's not there's

a lot of like x -men characters that I'm very

fond of like storm and and rogue and things like

that, but Just in the team setting I don't know

if I don't know if you if it works if you pull

them out of the team setting like that There's

been solo like x -men books, but it's tough to

give them their own movie Maybe something like

like black cat could work. I could see that even

a mystique movie with Jennifer Lawrence I mean,

I think there's like you could do something there

Even though she's done with the part after this

next movie you could probably have someone else

play mystique. It's it's fine I don't think she's

a shape shifter. So it's an easy. Yeah But yeah,

I can't really think of many other Squirrel girl.

Yeah, there you go bring it back. I honestly

think reading that book though I was like this

could make a fun TV show or like a like a fun

little movie. It'd be completely different I

wouldn't put it in the cinematic universe. Oh,

you know what we forgot is Jessica Jones. They

are making the Jessica Jones TV show Oh, yeah

Oh, I thought of a good one Harley Quinn even

though it looks like this version is gonna be

kinda Don't know. I like Margot Robbie as Harley

Quinn. I think she looks good for the part and

We'll see about the acting and how she's going

to portray it But I've always liked Harley Quinn

comics that have been coming out. Yeah, I'll

admit like I don't have a huge background in

DC So there's probably some characters that they

have that maybe not thinking of I mean I mean

back girl. I mean you have a super girl team.

They have that birds of prey tv show I don't

know if you guys ever watch that don't No, I

heard about that. Yeah, it's like it's awful.

It is like, you know it It um, even people who

hate on smallville would have to admit like small

it's like a huge step down from something compared

to smallville I watched like one or two episodes

and it was just It hurt it hurt to watch it was

not good It was just it was just like it was

corny in the worst way as possible. Um There's

a lot of like It's like I think Wonder Woman

show would work. Well if it's done, right? I

know they were trying to launch that pilot a

couple years ago and it didn't work out For whatever

reason but yeah DC's got a lot of great female

characters like especially in the Justice League

Zatanna is pretty cool. Zatanna however you want

to say it Um, and I was I was like geeking out

when she appeared on smallville. That was pretty

awesome Yeah, and sometimes you can take like

those characters that you think would never work

on their own and give them their show and it

ends up actually working, you know, and Like

I never thought Korean if you tell me green arrows

was giving his own show I'd be like that'd be

awful. But you know and so it's possible and

I mean agent Carter had another bringing that

back for a second season. So Yeah, I guess it's

season. I know what you would call one. It's

like a miniseries but So I think there's and

if you're looking at all these different avenues

that they have now I think there's they should

definitely make it more active, but I think it's

a good thing to ask like, you know kind of Conversation

to have because I do feel like it the representation

has gotten a lot better because there was like

none and now it's Definitely you're seeing a

lot more Though yeah, I'm glad to bring back

the old black canary because I don't want anyone

Have you guys watched the finales of the arrow

in flash? Oh, yes. No, I watched them hard. I

gotta say, though, I really liked the flash this

season. I still have to watch the ending. Though,

I gotta say, like, my wife's been liking the

show, but once they introduced Groot, I think

she almost checked out. She's like, what is happening?

I'm like... Wait, who? The garage garage, that's

the wrong one. Yeah Dan that lost major nerd

That's what I thought too. Like when I watched

that episode I'm like, this is a stretch even

for this show cuz it's like, you know They everything

else they could kind of explain and then all

of a sudden here's an episode. It's a telepathic

gorilla Yeah, they dropped that hard. I didn't

think they'd go with that in the first season

Like yeah, it didn't really fit too well with

what they were doing I felt like that episode

was an aberration But like the like when you

do get to sit down and watch the finale put some

plastic down because your mind is gonna explode

It's it's pretty freaking awesome. I was geeking

out the whole time I think it was the second

to last episode when it like you had that And

prompts you like coming together, which I wasn't

expecting because I have been I was yeah, I'm

like Yeah, teamwork. This is actually I'm not

gonna lie kind of kind of like a little bit of

a nerd boner I'm like, this is kind of cool.

This is You know, it's it's very cheesy in the

best ways possible, but I think that's what I

like about flash So, um, I do wonder though,

like I haven't seen the finale I I'm like where

can you go after this because that's my worry

because like I think that like Like that's what

happened with arrow in season 3 I felt season

2 really wrote like it wrote itself into a corner

in a way and I I wonder if like you'll have that

with the flash nothing Well, I think I think

those Questions will be a little bit answered

after you watch the finale because there's Definite

room for expansion if they do things correctly

and their superhero fight club too. That's coming

out too. Is that the summer? No, I think that

was just a promotional thing for their advertisements

Like you're talking about like it had flash and

arrow and all them. Yeah, I Think that was just

a promotional thing that they sort of did Like

they had some promotional clips and stuff as

far as I know I saw some post about it I didn't

know I thought it was I was confused. I thought

like I was actually gonna be a movie Did you

get to see the arrow finale? I am I am an episode

or two behind an arrow in an episode behind the

flash Yeah, arrow was Better than I thought but

it's still not as good as flash. I really hope

I can kind of rate this next season Yeah, yeah,

and this this a Season of flash was amazing.

It exceeded every expectation that I had Well,

even though I thought the rod thing was a little

bit much I do think like special effects wise

I'm like that actually is not nearly as bad as

I thought it was gonna be Like he I was yeah,

it felt like there was an actual thing there

Like that was my worry would be like so green

screening or something like that. I wouldn't

it would be hard to tell something was there

They should have met they should have went with

like claymation like deal Swatting at the flash

there wasn't one King Kong joke in the entire

Yeah, maybe it's right thing Right All right,

anything else before we bring this episode to

a close I well I guess Let me ask you if you

saw the I know we talked about that new show

legends of tomorrow Did you see the trailer no,

I didn't know a trailer was out. Oh Yeah, it's

about three minutes long, too. How does it look?

It's got some good footage in there. Who is all

a part of that? Well, we got in the clip, they

sort of show Flash and Green Arrow sort of talking

to the whole team. So I'm guessing like they're

going to appear in a few episodes, but probably

not all of them. But they have Captain Cold and

Heatwave, which are two villains, but they have

them on the team. I'm not sure how that dynamics

gonna work, but I'm pretty intrigued by that

They have the atom Ray Palmer from arrow This

is power suit and everything They also have the

white canary Which is which was Sarah Lance from

arrow? Apparently she got dipped in the Lazarus

pit from Raza who? Which I'm like, why didn't

you think about before she died like a year ago

like you just and then I think I Think probably

firestorm to they're gonna have because they've

been showing dr. Stein a lot it didn't really

show Robbie Amell in there too much, but you

know I'm guessing that they got to have him in

there a little bit and and then there's a new

guy a couple of new people I mentioned Hawke

girl before which is pretty exciting and then

they have this time traveling guy named rip hunter

So there's a lot of time travel it's gonna be

introduced to which is pretty cool. They can

open up some avenues there Yeah, is that and

that's that's gonna be in cw2 Yes 2016 that's

like, oh wow. That's not that's not so long time

That's I mean, that's what I heard. I'm wondering

if that's gonna be in the spring of 2016 cuz

I Mean, I can't see it being The fall of 2016.

It's like a year and a half from now. I don't

know. I don't know what's going on there, but

long time and that's You might have to I'd have

to check that out. Maybe it'll be like a replacement

show after it kind of like a You know after the

flash and arrow and again I bridges a gap in

between are they do we know like the location

if they're gonna be in like arrow city or anything

like that or I'm not sure actually, I don't think

they mentioned where it is, but they did mention

the major antagonist of the show and that's going

to be Vandal Savage. You know, an immortal who's

lived like thousands of years and everything

super bad guy, but I'm pretty excited about this

show. I thought it was just going to be more

fluff. I'm like, oh, you know, they're trying.

They're getting greedy, trying to capitalize

on Arrow and Flash. But I'm actually pretty impressed.

Has it been done by the same people who did Arrow

and Flash or is it different? Do you know? Yes,

as far as I know, I think. I believe Berlanti

is working on, I think. I want to say Kreisberg

or Kreisberg or whatever is the show runner for

Flash, but I'm pretty sure most of those people

are working on it as well. That's pretty cool.

Yeah, I will have to give that a shot. And I

did find out that Shield Season 2 comes out on

Netflix like in June, so I might have to power

through that maybe and see if I can pick that

up in Season 3, because I guess that is coming

back for next season. We did find out Daredevil

season 2. Daredevil did get a second season.

Which is going to be interesting because next

year we're going to have, I guess, Daredevil

debuts and Luke Cage. So, Daredevil season 2

and Luke Cage. I don't know. I didn't realize

that the actual Defender show is like three years

away. It seems weird. It just seems weird. I

don't know if that's going to work. See, this

is the great thing about... Marvel and DC competing

we win There's a lot tons of great stuff coming

out when speaking of DC I guess I know Greg you

talked about it already but since we have some

time here maybe we can touch upon it real quick

and that's like the whole the what did you think

of Chuck the the image of Suicide Squad Oh the

group shot with all of them in that Yeah, it

was pretty cool. I was a little iffy on Killer

Croc, and I think Greg shared the same opinion

on that a little bit. It kind of reminds me of

one of those guys from the Super Mario Brothers

movie. Yeah, that's the joke going around. Any

other issues besides that? No, I mean, this looks

pretty good. What were you saying, Greg? I have

problems with Margot Robbie in the same direction

as Jim Leto's outfit. Yeah, yeah, it does seem

a little little strange but We get like my only

issue with the whole suicide squad thing was

I just felt it looks like dated like I don't

know it looks like he came from the 90s early

2000s in Will Smith, I just like his the him

in like the full get up with the the mask. It

just looks I don't know. It looks corny. I think

like I think it looks better than the TV show.

So I don't know. I like I like the director,

David Aaron. I still have hope for the movie,

but I don't know. It just it seems I'm I just

wish someone in that universe in D .C. cinematic

universe would like, you know, color would exist.

So we'll see. Well, it does in the Joker's hair.

Well, there you go Joker's hair and tattoos.

That's the one place. Have you just got a little

maroon in there on his costume? have you guys

seen shots from the the production Yeah, like

he looks like Joker. It looks like the actual

the Joker is nothing like that photo. Yeah, and

it's Do any of you really think that the Joker

drives around in a sports car? Like on the regular

or just like, you know, like like, you know,

he wakes up one day and sports car There's you

get a personalized license plate that says ha

ha Yeah, I don't know if you I don't see him

filling up that paperwork I don't either Yeah,

my guess would the would be that the Vanity plate

would already be taken anyway. Yeah, I just make

it easier for Batman to track him, right? I thought

they drove school buses Vanity plates seem beneath

him. It's weird. All right, anything else? Nope.

All right. So normally we end each episode with

a letter, but I wanted to do a little bit. Different

thing and I don't know if you guys know this

but recently one of the co -founders of cast

radio network TFE when Mike had a lot that had

a loss in his family He his mother and unfortunately

did pass away So because of that, I just wanted

to use this time to definitely send our condolences

to him and his family for sure Definitely a tough

time. Sorry Yeah, going going through that and

you know, it's with was it wasn't for him and

Steve There's no way we even be able to do this

show So we definitely got to thank them for that
