About this Episode

The hosts continue their three-year tradition of crowning the 2016 Talking in Circles Badass champion. They discuss the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic by Kyle Higgins, Chuck shares his enthusiasm for Young Justice and Daredevil on Netflix, and the bracket competition heats up with matchups including Rey vs. Neil deGrasse Tyson, Terminator vs. Bender, Marty McFly vs. Tommy DeVito, and more.

Hi, this is Kevin Conroy, and you're listening

to the Geekcast Radio Network. You are now on

the inside of what I like to call the circle

of trust. We are all connected in a great circle

of life. You know something, Bert? I think you

and I are going in circles. It feels like we're

going in circles. The Circle is not complete.

When I left you, I was but the learning. Now,

I am the master. Because it's a circle. Yeah,

we heard about the circle. Yeah, we're familiar

with shapes. Hi, this is Joe. This is Greg. And

this is Dan. And we are Talking in Circles, brought

to you by the Geekcast and Radio Network, the

podcast that is going to be crowning the 2016...

Skype can suck a dick. Yeah, a little background.

We had a little bit of a scuffle here with Skype.

I did. Yes, yeah. Two men entered, one Skype

left, I guess. Oh my god. It was like a turf

war. Skype kept kicking you out. Yeah, it did.

It kicked my ass, too. It was doing some daredevil

shit on me, and I just got my ass kicked That's

for that's for later later in the weeks coming

when we'll do a complete episode on daredevil,

but Great track how things going with you? Pretty

good. You talking about the the bracket there.

I've actually Did my own basketball bracket this

year for the first time ever Because usually,

like, I hate college basketball. Like, I really

don't know anything about it. So I never did

a bracket. I was never really interested in it.

But as always, if you can make something interesting

enough, I'll give it a shot. So at work, somebody

was doing a little pool for five bucks. I was

like, yeah, fill one out. What the hell? Winning

money always makes it more interesting. Right.

Exactly. So I'm like, why should I waste my time

with that? But now that that's involved, I'm

like, OK, you know, spend five minutes filling

it out. But I'm actually doing fairly well. So

by the time this comes out, I mean, we'll be

a little bit closer to the champion. But I know

the team I picked to win it all. Michigan State

is already out. So that sucks. But I think that

probably busted a lot of people's bracket because

they were a lot of people's favorites. But I

don't know. I picked a lot of other games correctly

and everything. So I'm hoping that I finish pretty

well in the pool. But we'll see. Yeah I didn't

I did not do I usually do one here and there

I tend to do one just for fun just to see how

it goes but I didn't I missed out this year because

I was like half dead when uh the the brackets

were going because unfortunately last episode

went out a little later than normal because I

ended up coming down with the sickness I guess

or the plague a little bit I know yeah I listened

to Disturb, that will happen to you, but now

I ended up getting, like, pneumonia, which was

kind of... I like Disturb. Yeah. Got the flu

and then developed into pneumonia, so I was out

of commission for a few days. So now I'm human

again, which feels great. I can stand up without

getting out of breath. He's back in the saddle

again! Now I'm just trying to get, like, you

know, scheduling back and all that good stuff.

That's always... gotta figure it all out, but...

Yeah, it was kind of convenient though. I ended

up getting weak sick the same week as March Madness

and Daredevil coming out. I'm like, I swear I'm

really sick. This is not me playing hooky. Yeah,

it doesn't look good. No, no. I'm like, though

I ended up waking up like at 2 a .m. The night

that Daredevil like was premiered and I checked

to see it. I'm like, oh, it's available I was

wide awake because I was my I was so off with

my schedule and I so wanted to start watching

it But I'm like my wife wants to watch it, too.

I was so So I'm like, alright, I'll just go watch

Parks and Rec and that's basically what I did.

Parks and Rec is a good one. Yeah You just watch

it and then like work on your acting so that

you could act really surprised when you do watch

it with her. Yeah Oh, I totally didn't know that

was coming. Or, you know, they were just like,

I knew it because of the comic, you know, we

always throw that out there. I knew it, I was

just, yeah. But speaking of comics though, I

did read a few comics and one notably... Comic

and I quick I know you read this as well and

we can do maybe a little of a tag team review

here And oh yeah team action Exactly. We are

living in the world where you know 80s nostalgia.

I think it's come and gone now. We're in the

Prime of 90s nostalgia. So of course one of the

you know We're coming out with the Mighty Morphin

Power Rangers movie and before we get that though,

we're having a comic boom studios is putting

out a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic written

by Kyle Higgins previously, it was a night wing

and a few others and He's done a lot of good

stuff that's out there Yeah, yeah, I think, I

don't know if it's the first thing he's done

with Boom, but yeah, the Mighty Morphin Power

Rangers comic, which is, it's kind of picking

up right in the height of the Green Ranger era

during the 1990s, using the same characters.

I don't think it would be the height. I think

it would be more like the beginnings of the Green

Ranger. True, true. The like right after he turned

from evil to good and using the same act not

the same actors obviously Yeah, they just got

the actor say anything else just took pictures

of them exactly the same characters and all that

But what did you think of the Mighty Morphin?

Power Rangers. It's only the first issue out

right now as we're recording this. What did you

think of it so far? There's issue zero and issue

one. But I'm really liking it. Kyle Higgins has

done a lot of great stuff. I'm actually looking

online here. He did Gates of Gotham, which I've

read, which is really good. He's done Cowl. which

I know Dan has has read some of that. And he

has done some of Nightwing, which I read, which

were also really well done. So he's he's he's

I think he's an up and comer, I believe. But

he's he's got some really good stuff under his

belt already. And I think he's doing a great

job with this. It gives a little bit more detail

into the backstory right after the Green Ranger

converts from Rita Repulsa to the Power Rangers.

And There's a lot of cool stuff going on like

his inner turmoil of Rita repulses still kind

of in his head when you get all this like in

his head stuff that you really don't get from

a TV show too much especially one that's 30 minutes

and they got a lot of Pratt fall kind of stuff

with bulk and skull which they do have that kind

of stuff in there but it's kind of into a side

little mini story at the end which it's kind

of nice to see it split up like that I think

So you could get to the serious stuff and then

you have that little bit of comedy But if it

very much gives you that all that stuff that

you remember back as a kid But it kind of adults

it up a little bit I think I think they realized

that the the fans of this particular Storyline

and these particular Power Rangers are a little

bit more adult So I think they grew it up a little

bit and one of my favorite parts of all is if

The people that did watch it should remember,

like, all the noises that they make when they're

fighting. And they do do word balloons with it.

And definitely Tommy doing his famous noise or

fighting kind of howl as he fights, which Chuck

does a really good impersonation of. Yeah, he

does that. Are there putties near you, Chuck?

Are you fighting putties? Got like six of them

around me right now Which which that in itself

is really great that they just added that in

there, but I think it's doing really good I'm

not usually into like boom studios isn't really

a proven name for me They've had like maybe one

here and one there, but they're very few and

far between But I really liked the Power Rangers

So I thought I'd give it a shot and I'm actually

really impressed with it. The covers I thought

were spectacular especially with uh, issue zero,

where they had all the different colored costumes

and it's just kind of like, uh, a chest shot

for almost, uh, for the most part. And I've,

I've seen people on Reddit and stuff saying,

Oh, that's definitely like a wall book that you

could definitely put on your wall, collect all

of them. And you got this nice little, um, wall

books. And I think the, the cover art for issue

one is really great too. As for the interior

artwork, it's not that bad, but I've seen a lot

better in different things. That could be improved

a little bit, I think, but still overall I think

it's a great book. Yeah, what I liked about the

interior artwork was mostly the decision when

it came to the characters was not to do kind

of what Star Wars is doing right now. The Star

Wars books where they're just doing the photocopy

basically of the actors where they're just doing

more of a Representation of those actors. They

don't look exactly like them. They kind of Yeah,

but I just didn't like the line work or how they

kind of did the noses with kind of a line But

then the rest of it was kind of like shaded in

to imply the rest It's just a little wonky and

that's I think that's more of a personal type

of thing. That's a personal preference Yeah,

I didn't really notice it to be honest with you

but I did like a little bit of the different

touches where We're poking skull. They're like

youtubers or whatever. So there are and then

that's definitely updated and they have cell

phones as well Exactly, and they're you know

kind of getting what was a smart move? They kind

of got like the opinions of people on the streets

About the power rangers, which is something you

never really gotten out on the street. Yeah Yeah,

I got in the show at all I I would say the one

knock on it is that if you're not a power rangers

like if you were never a fan of the show I don't

see why you would read this at all Like I don't

think it would interest anyone who wasn't a fan

specifically at this time like it's not gonna

like grab anyone or bring anyone in that was

not a fan of the previous property and you and

honestly like even like kids that would originally

love Power Rangers. I don't know if they would

love this if they didn't read or watch the show

because it does kind of assume you know a lot

going in at least this first season even in issue

zero which I did read as well. So I think for

us like I can remember it as a kid but for a

lot of people I could see it just being a waste

in that end. I don't know how long They plan

on keeping the series, if it's a long -term series,

a 12 issue series, that I'm kind of curious about.

But I do like how they also incorporated and

used the Zords and powers in different ways,

where it was not just, you know, with a show

where you know you're just going to end up with

the Zord at the end. They used Zords almost more

creatively, like they were using a pterodactyl

to do like covering fire and stuff like that,

which was kind of cool. So that was interesting,

where there were... adding a little bit of complexity

to like the how the power Rangers powers work

and You know, there's origin how they use that

stuff. So that's that was A nice little touch.

So I'm definitely looking forward to it. Like,

like Greg said, it's nothing like the art's fine.

I think it's suitable. It's nothing that's going

to blow you away. It just kind of does. It gets

the job done. Yeah. It's, it's not, I don't think

it's up to Kyle Higgins work, but it's definitely

is okay. Uh, but if it's going to have a knock

in some area, I think it goes towards the art.

So you guys, you guys mentioned about like how

it Kind of follows Tommy a little bit and you

get some like the struggle going on his head

do they go into his relationship with Kimberly

at all, like they were hinting at in the show,

but never really came to fruition. I think they

started them going after each other a little

bit in issue number one. She definitely sees

that he's a little distracted by something and

kind of coming in to help him a little bit. And

I think they're going to develop that a little

bit more into the relationship. But you definitely

see them kind of having a little thing there.

Yeah, there's a full -out breakout session. No,

just joking. So is it like... Nude scene. What

is it like tonally compared to the show? Is it

darker? Is it about the same? It's a little...

It's not nearly as corny, but I wouldn't say

it's darker. It's... uh it's it's like aged up

a tad it's just like a tad yeah it's so it's

not super duper corny as much yeah it's they

definitely leave the corny parts to the end with

bulk and skull that's why i kind of like that

they're like a page or two so you could definitely

skip over that if you want to because they don't

involve them being super, super goofy, corny

in the main storyline. They kind of leave that

to like a page or two at the end, which I think

is a great way to do it. I think it's a good

balance where it's not, it still feels like the

Power Rangers, but not to the fence where I feel

like I'm being insulted and watching like a kid

show. Yeah. It's not like the little short movie,

the fan film. No, we're like freaking like cursing.

Yeah, it's definitely not that. No. Yeah. It

definitely does a nice little teetering on the

edge and it does a good job. Yeah, like I felt

like things could kids could read it and it would

like fit their sensibilities I just don't know

if there'd be that much interest because There

is almost like an assumption going in that you

kind of know how this all works already Like

you know this world, you know this universe It's

more of a companion series really than its own

thing Like you would almost think that this was

coming out around the same time as a TV show

in the way and how strongly it relates to the

show but it's you know, I think it's just more

so trying to I guess add a little bit more layers

and complexity and hit on that nostalgia while

being its own thing as well. Like we've said

offline, I definitely think you would enjoy it,

Chuck. Cool. Yeah, I'd recommend for sure. Chuck,

I think you have been watching something, if

I'm not mistaken. Have you been watching me watching

something? I have been. Have you been watching

you watching me? Yes, I've been I've been watching

the shit out of Netflix lately I Am getting my

eight dollars worth that is for sure Especially

with daredevil that came out which we'll probably

talk about next episode. But uh Yeah, sorry.

That's my fault. I I'm three episodes from the

end I Tried to push through last night to get

in as much as possible But it just, you could

have taken off work today. Like, I couldn't have

gotten pneumonia to watch Daredevil. Come on.

I took off work to watch it. Come on. I had to

go take a photograph at a school. It was important.

No, I ended up like I had a personal days coming

and if I don't use them, I'm going to lose them

in the next like week. So I'm like, I better

take some time off. So I'm like, why not take

off when Daredevil comes out? So I binge watch

that and then. even before that. And then a little

bit after that, I've been also binge watching

Young Justice. Nice. Nice. Yes. And I know we

talked about that a few weeks back and also been

trying to catch up on that. Yeah, we were talking

about how, you know, season two, obviously on

Netflix and, you know, they're pondering possibly

a third season and they were kind of looking

at how well it would do on Netflix. to determine

whether they were going to pursue that or not.

So I am trying my darndest to get them a third

season. I've been watching it a lot. So I had

seen a lot of the first season, but there were

still some in there that I hadn't seen. So I

kind of caught up on all those and I watched

a bunch of the second season as well. I haven't

totally finished yet. I still have a few episodes

left, but I really, really like the show a lot.

In my opinion, I think it's probably better than

the old Justice League cartoon, which may be

blasphemy for some people. But it just feels

like way more grown up than than those cartoons,

like even the the Batman animated series. Like

this just seems so much more grown up, like,

you know, sort of big boy stories, you know,

like big boy missions and stuff like. Everything

is so much more complex and everything is woven

together more masterfully. Everything sort of

makes sense and flows together really well. There's

really not much like corniness at all. Like it's

pretty, I don't want to say dark, but it actually

has a really serious tone to it, which is pretty

crazy. And I like that a lot. They explore some

things that you wouldn't expect in an animated

series, like some more adult themes. They have

relationships between the characters. They go

over things like death and how teammates react

and violence and different various mental states

and things like that. There's some pretty cool

stuff in there that they go through. And those

are things that I never really got out of some

other animated series. That I've watched so I

was pretty happy with all that stuff in there

and you know on top of that I just love the writing

like they have some really really creative stories

in their episodes and even when these those episodes

they have creative fight sequences the the use

of everyone's powers like is just very diverse

like each episode they find creative ways to

Sort of help each other out and explore their

powers and everything like that Nice thing is

really really entertaining. I'm really starting

to like Some of the characters like in the second

season like Nightwing. I like a lot Blue Beetle

Captain Marvel I think also is like he's a character

that pops up every now and then but actually

like him a lot Because it's it's sort of that

dual identity as like a kid and an adult it gives

you like a perspective sort of like He's sort

of like your mole on the team because it's like

he's looking up to all these like all the big

justice leaguers, because he's really only 10

years old. But when he transforms into Captain

Marvel, he can throw down with the best of them.

So he's a really entertaining character to watch.

And some of the episodes that he's in are really

cool. Like the one that's called Misplaced is

possibly my favorite episode so far. That's the

one where they take the one evil mystic guy.

They get like five of the world's most powerful

sorcerers. and they cast a spell and like the

adults are on one plane and the children are

on one another dimension sort of. Kerrigan or

something his name is and he's got this clarion

yeah. He's got the weird cat everything. Yeah

they actually have DC has like a standalone comic

with him in it. Oh do they? Yeah it's very weird

I read like one issue to see what was up with

it because I'm not. familiar with the character

it's craziness but that that episode was so well

done to me because it was like it was really

well thought out like how you have Captain Marvel

he's the only one that could go between both

worlds because he's both a child and an adult

at the same time and when he says Shazam he transforms

and he goes over the other dimension and they're

like using him to communicate between the two

teams And they're also using him to help fight

the battle too, which is just really really well

done I think it's my favorite episode Really

good episode. I did enjoy that. I have a question

though for you Chuck I think you're further along

than I am and I found episode number one of season

two a Huge leap and kind of jarring does that

kind of get straightened? out as you progress

further on into season two like does that get

a little bit more straightened out and or or

do they just leave you uncomfortable like all

of a sudden boom big changes happen and you're

just gotta go with those big changes No, I know

what you mean. It's because it's like I think

it's a five -year jump if I'm not mistaken Yeah,

and there's a huge roster change or lace your

relationships really change and yeah, so you

have like most of the characters are probably

around 21 right now. Yeah Robin goes from pretty

young he wants to be like The leader of the team

but Aqualad is then all of a sudden he's in Nightwing

in season 2 and it's just Yeah, and it is jarring

but as you as you get further along it does sort

of I Don't know. I don't want to say fill in

the gaps too much, but it sort of brings you

up to speed a little bit because they bring in

Other characters that obviously like when you

start with the first one or two episodes in the

second season You like go where's this character?

Where's that character? Like there's a few missing

and as you go along they fill that in and then

Get even further and it kind of explains Another

part why the one guy is bad. So they kind of

Start explaining that stuff and it's really really

interesting like a couple characters sort of

are Are out of the game. Actually, they're like

they're out of the superhero business, but For

one or two missions they sort of come back out

of retirement so to speak and those are some

really interesting episodes I think it really

irons itself out and ends up being really cool.

I think Nightwing is sort of like the the keystone

so to speak because I mean everybody knew he

was sort of made to run that team but he was

just a little bit too young and Aqualad had more

experience and everything but you know the way

Batman trained him it's just like he has to be

the leader of that team and he ends up being

sort of the the liaison between the Justice League

and the Young Justice Team. Yeah he kind of takes

over what was Batman's role in the first season.

Yeah he gives them the assignments tells them

where to go but he also has like I don't know

if it's full League membership status, but it's

like he can go to the Watchtower. I think he's

the only member of that team that can. Like none

of the other Young Justice members can go to

the Watchtower. So Nightwing definitely takes

a big leap and he's a really important character

in that. You actually see him get to go on a

mission himself. I think he wants to go on this

one mission personally to make sure it goes right.

That's a really interesting storyline too. Sounds

interesting. Sounds like I should keep going

with it, then. Yeah. And like I said, like with

getting the more adult themes, that's definitely

more prevalent in the second season. You know,

they get into like some relationships with the

characters and stuff and you're like, oh, OK,

they're going here. Like, I didn't think they

would show that. But not that they show stuff.

I mean, oh, so they don't they don't show full

nudity then. No, it's not like anime, you know.

Yeah, that's where you write that's right where

you go right to that you realize that's right

where I go Dan Who are you talking to right now?

Come on? You realize there's this one couple

that's like living together and you're like,

oh wow, they're still together That's pretty

cool and they you know explain that and stuff

and it's it's really really interesting Yeah,

I'm right there with you. I know I talked about

a while ago, but Think what it benefits from

is the fact that I love the Justice League cartoon

don't get me wrong But what I think Young Justice

benefits is the fact that its characters are

still developing where I feel like the Relationships

and with the Justice League characters were pretty

well established for the most part there wasn't

much change there But with Young Justice they

had so much more to explore and they had a lot

of different dynamics they can go after so I

agree I Held off on watching that show forever

because I felt like it was Like a kiddie version

of it. I didn't think it was I didn't realize

at all what it was and Yeah, I would definitely

recommend checking it out and I would love it

if we get to season three, but who knows if it

actually will happen I was the same way because

I kind of thought it was like did you ever see

any of the Like the Teen Titans cartoon that

was yeah. Yes. I still watch that every once

in a while It's kind of entertaining once well,

but I thought it'd be more like that. So I kind

of Stayed away from it for a while, but I was

totally wrong like and you mentioned like the

Justice League show Those characters were already

established and then also like most of the missions

were solved by like whoever could punch the hardest.

Yeah Yeah, it's like and young justice like there's

really really tactical approaches to the missions

like the way they You know where they convey?

The team's victories and stuff the way they organize

it like they really utilize every team member

to the fullest extent like they're using their

Skill set in a very tactical way to defeat the

opponent and it's like really really creative

way to do it. I like it Yeah, and they always

they don't always win too. Like that's I think

a big part of that. Right, right Cool. The only

the one the only drawback is the impulse character

Like every five seconds he's saying crash the

mode and all this crap. Yeah that yeah Super

annoying, but that's really the only drawback

I could think of I don't think it does he start

that in season two? Yeah, okay Yeah, is he a

comic? Is he in the comics? I had never heard

of him. Yes he is. I think he was started up

back in the day and I know Humberto Ramos was

the first to kind of draw him back in the day.

But he did start off in the comics though. There's

so much speedster it's insane. I know there is.

I think it's Barry's grandson. Yeah. So it kind

of puts the flashback into the Allen family crest

or whatever you want to call it. Alright, anything

else before we take a quick break? Alright, we're

gonna take a quick break, and when we come back,

we will be finally determining the 2016 Badass

Champion. We'll see you in a bit. We cover media

news, TV, our favorite geek products, and of

course your feedback. So get altered, get geeky,

with the Altered Geeks. Every Friday on the Geekcast

Radio Network. Alright, and welcome back. Yes,

we are crowning our 2016 Badass Champion. And

if you have not listened to the other episodes,

definitely do that. But how this works, there

will be two combatants. And what we are going

to be doing is trying to determine who is the

bigger badass. And what does that mean? Well,

it really means whatever we want it to mean at

the time. We'll be arguing on who we think should

move on because of their badass status. There

are three of us, so simply the person with the

most votes wins. It's as simple as that. And

then they will move on to the next round. And

then the winner of this bracket will face the

champion of last week, which was Deadpool. And

if you're wondering how Deadpool made it all

the way, check out last week's episode. Anything

else you guys want to get in before we get this

thing underway? Nope. Ready to rumble. Alright,

well let's get this show on the road. Today's

very first matchup, we are looking into the stars

because from the world of Star Talk, and one

of the smartest men in the world probably uh

one of the one of the buffest men one of the

buffest man too we have neil degrasse tyson he

is a science god at the moment going up against

someone else from the stars but a different type

of stars in star wars as he's facing off against

ray from star wars first awaken so uh the only

star wars character we have in the tournament

but one of the most recent star wars characters

going up against neil degrasse tyson ah should

we start with? Greg, maybe I'll start with you

here. Any thoughts on who you feel is the bigger

badass? Well, I think first I want to say Neil

deGrasse Tyson is really cool, and for science

scientists, which you don't get a lot of credit

for them being badass and really cool, but he's

gone out there and he's even gone to the extent

of Saying something that's very unpopular. I

think at least with me that Pluto isn't a planet

So that's pretty badass that had put that out

there and fight for that He seems like a really

cool guy really nice guy I'm not sure if that

really add up adds up to him being badass But

then on the other hand you've got Ray who actually

goes to different planets goes on these adventures

fights and learns the force faster than anybody

that we've seen before. And just for that, I

think I'm going to vote for Ray as a bigger badass

than Neil deGrasse Tyson. Neil deGrasse Tyson

does have the guns, but I don't think he's ever

pulled them out of his holster to use them. Yeah,

I could somewhat see that. I'll go next here.

To raise credit, certainly, you know, she is

a quick learner for sure. But and she survived

on her own on a desert planet by herself for

quite some time. But you got to give Neil deGrasse

Tyson a lot of credit for being a bad ass and

a subject that not many people can be a bad ass.

And usually they're not that interesting and

kind of human Carl Sagan. Play Carl Sagan a video

and he I would just instantly pass out Yeah,

so I don't think he what was with with Neil deGrasse

Tyson He has a very like almost he's like the

Barry White of the astronomy world. It's it's

not the sexy bracket. It's the Badass bracket.

That's part of being badass though. They're very,

you know, they're in the same family. They're

in the same family. He's got the badass mustache.

And, you know, some people destroy planets by

having massive weapons. He declassified a planet

through science. That's pretty badass. There's

now... eight planets in the solar system instead

of nine, in large part because of him. Not many

people can say that. Rey doesn't even have, couldn't

do that with the Force, you know, and he learned

everything. Like, he kind of had to, you know,

cultivate his skills on his own, where Rey kind

of like, yeah, she's almost... I don't know,

like tripped herself into it in a way. Like she

kind of just happened upon knowing the force

where he had to learn all of his skills and gain

all of his credibility. And, you know, he could

probably somehow find out a mathematical equation

to figure out the force to then do power array,

maybe? I don't know. That could happen. Possibly

not. I don't know what I'm talking about. But

I don't know. So I feel like Neil deGrasse Tyson

is the bigger badass basically because I think

he's done more to earn his respect that he's

gotten. But Chuck, so that moves on over to you

then. So we have one vote with Ray. We have my

vote for Neil deGrasse Tyson making you the deciding

factor. This vote may be swayed by Chuck's love.

Well, not love, but Chuck thinks Ray is pretty

cute. But he may also think Neil deGrasse Tyson

is pretty cute. I mean, he's not he's not he's

not a bad looking dude, I guess. I don't know.

Chuck, who do you think is a bigger badass? Well,

I think my logic on this one, Neil deGrasse Tyson

is definitely pretty badass with all of his physics

equations and everything like that. I've taken

a couple of physics classes in college and it

is definitely not easy. Some of the concepts

that you explore in there, definitely not easy

to grasp. for him to be able to master them and

convey them to other people, pretty impressive.

But the only thing that sort of is a drawback

for me about NDT is that he never actually gets

to the places that he's talking about, whereas

Rey is out there living it. She's traveling to

all these different worlds. She sort of gets

caught up in the whole Jedi thing. She goes,

you know, she's interested in starting to do

training and everything. She goes on these adventures

and everything with Han and Chewie and stuff.

So I think that's my reasoning for this one is,

you know, she actually gets to sort of live out

the thing that she's studying. Like she's yearning

to. Explore these other places and she actually

gets to instead of just sort of talking about

it Which you know not not putting down NDT because

that's again. He's pretty awesome But I got to

go ray on this one all right Wow all right, so

ray is moving on our next matchup for today We

have a battle of robots or androids. I'm not

sure First, we have the Terminator. I can't do

an impression, I apologize. Cue the impersonation!

Get to the choppa! Wait, wrong word. That's the

only one I could really do, too. That's a good

one. So we have the Terminator going up against

Bite My Shiny Mental Ass, Bender. Chuck, let's

start with you here, since you ended last time.

We have Terminator. We have Bender. Who is the

bigger badass? Well, I am actually a huge fan

of both of these characters. I've watched a fair

amount of Futurama, and I do love that show.

Probably my favorite animated comedy show, to

be honest. So I am pretty familiar with Bender.

I do like him a lot. Also love the Terminator.

I have loved the Terminator when other people

haven't. I love Terminator Genesis even, so I

can make that claim. But I don't know. I think

both characters definitely deserve to be in the

bracket. They definitely have some badass cred.

Really the thing that's sort of popping in my

mind though is Bender certainly talks the talk,

but there's a lot of situations when Push comes

to shove that he's really sort of a... afraid.

He ends up being afraid. He kind of folds up

a little bit. He cowers a little bit. There's

a lot of instances where he doesn't really care

what happens and he's kind of like whatever,

but there are times where he's very intimidated

and he sort of just breaks down and sort of loses

it and everything like that. So I got to go with

the cold hard Terminator, I think for pure Just

pure badass fury and power. Yeah. Greg, do you

agree that Terminator is the bigger badass or

do you feel it is Bender? I do agree with Chuck.

He made the last argument is what does it for

me. Bender does kind of freak out about things.

Bender is a manly robot, though. He drinks, he

smokes, he steals. He's got this bravado. But

then when push comes to shove, he just... backs

down instantly and kind of screams and runs away

like a girl which is one of the reasons that

he is a great comedic character but sometimes

comedy doesn't equal badassness like it does

with Deadpool so I'm gonna have to go with the

the Terminator who's a little bit more fearless

because he's a robot doesn't really have that

much empathy or at least doesn't show it goes

around shooting people nilly -willy and just

sacrificing himself getting metal and flesh ripped

off and just still going at it Yeah, I'll just

say I kind of agree with you guys I better has

this quality for sure He might be more evil if

we were determining which one's evil It would

maybe be Bender, but when it comes to badass

category gonna go with terminator. I mean the

dude just screams badass so Terminator is moving

on to the next round next up. We have a matchup

of people who can snarl like no others, definitely

for sure, and ones that are not afraid to take

the law in their own hands. We have the man with

no name, or Blondie, from The Bad and the Ugly.

Of course, Clint Eastwood's infamous character,

and he's going up against, I am the law, Judge

Dredd. We're gonna go with the good version of

Judge Dredd. Well, I guess you can go with any

version you really want to, that's the way this

game works. Which one would be the good version

of Judge Dredd, by the way, Dan? Well, I'm gonna

go with the Karl Urban version or the comic version,

not the Stallone version. I did like the Karl

Urban version. Yeah, that's good. I ended last

time, so maybe I'll start with this one. Really,

these characters are super, super similar in

a way. I mean, personalities are very... along

the same lines. Guys just have, like, the chiseled

jaw of, like, ruggedness for sure. They have...

just an aura about them that certainly does feel

like they can kick ass and take names whenever

they will want to but I think ultimately I think

I'm gonna go blondie because I feel in a way

Judge Dredd is very much influenced by blondie

in a way like almost Imitation would be a strong

word, but certainly heavily influenced by. So

since he's getting a lot of his badass characteristics

from that character, I feel would only be right

to then allow Blondie to move on. Maybe I'm wrong.

I'd be curious to hear what you guys have to

say. Greg, any thoughts on who you feel the bigger

badass is in this matchup? Well, it's been a

while since I've watched any movies with Clint

Eastwood at all even Blondie definitely not being

one of the last ones I watched so This is a tough

one for me. I say this is the hardest one of

the early on rounds here I feel like they're

both neck -and -neck And they do both put their

necks on the line No matter what they're both

kind of bullheaded, but they both can back it

up so this one's really tough for me I love Clint

Eastwood but we're not going with Clint Eastwood

here we're going with the character blondie it's

it's just tough and I feel like I'm just gonna

have to throw out a name for this one you know

what I'm just gonna throw out Judge Dredd just

to put the decision on Chuck's back So Greg's

taking the non badass way Chuck any thoughts

on who you feel is the bigger badass in this

matchup? No, I don't have any thoughts. So if

you guys could just decide for me Well, here's

my whole thing Believe it or not. I am not familiar

with judge dread really at all Have you watched

the new movie? I have not. Oh, I think we might

have to. I feel like a homework assignment may

be coming soon. I have not even seen the Stallone

version. Really? That surprises me. Yeah, I sort

of left that out of my Stallone collection, maybe

purposely, but. Yeah, you may not, but you could

be OK there. Yeah, I don't know. I just I never

was interested in that character. I mean, not

that I have anything against it, of course, if

I were to watch it, maybe I would be really interested

in it. But I mean, from what you guys are saying,

the characters are very similar and everything.

I got to go with the character I know and love,

which is blondie. So I'd have to pick him to

move on. Yeah, like I said, I agree with you

because I have seen Dread. I've read some Dread

comics and seen the Stallone version. If anything,

the Stallone version kind of hurts his credibility

a lot. When you do movie with Rob Schneider,

it's hard to overcome that. Just, you know, throwing

that out there. But he's the gigolo. He is a

gigolo. That's true. That's true. So Blondie

is moving on. All right. Our next matchup is

seeing two people. who may have a slight Napoleon

complex from the world of Goodfellas. We have,

funny how, Tommy DeVito going up against chicken?

Who's chicken? Marty McFly from the world of

Back to the Future. Well, Chuck, you ended last

time, so we can start with you here. Who is the

bigger badass between Tommy DeVito and Marty

McFly? Mean Danny DeVito, right Danny DeVito.

Well, well, he's the ultimate of badassness I

mean so we can't we why even bother if he would

just roll through everyone Obviously Marty McFly

Always has to deal with the menace that is Biff

no matter where he's at in the timeline whether

he goes to you know 1955 whether he goes to 2015

or 18 whatever year that was 1875 or something

but uh so he's always gonna deal with Biff being

a bully you know you gotta respect a guy that

hates to be called a chicken and really always

backs it up when he's challenged us with to something

I gotta give him mad props for that I mean he

never backs down from a challenge or somebody's

calling him a chicken he's done some of the most

crazy insane stunts driving a car 88 miles an

hour, you know, into an area where, you know,

you kind of have to have some faith that Doc

Brown's got this all figured out, you know, and,

you know, to riding the train back in the Old

West that was traveling that fast and everything.

The things in the future that he had no clue

about, he just kind of ad libbing everything

as he was going along. So really, really a lot

of badass qualities about Marty McFly. It's a

guy that really can talk the talk and walk the

walk always backs it up. So Tommy DeVito from

Goodfellas. I mean, you got pretty much tough

as they come like old time Italian mobster, you

know, really not afraid of anybody. But to me,

I think that feeling of invincibility is sort

of brought on by the rest of the mob, like all

of his buddies. It's sort of a, you know, it's

a brotherhood, really. And they have strength

in numbers. That's that's where their power lies.

And I think if you take that away and you're

left with just the man, I got to give I got to

give Marty McFly the edge here. I think he has

more badass qualities. If he were to be on his

own without any backup, I think he could pretty

much stand up to anybody. Yeah, I mean that's

I mean Marty McFly certainly has that I don't

know. There's just something that he's kind of

got that He's like almost like a pitbull in a

way where he just finds ways to get out of situations

for sure You know Michael J Fox. How can you

not like Michael J Fox? But I don't know like

when I think intimidation and that factor Tommy

DeVito certainly has it like there's so there's

a like a loose cannoness to him where he would

do anything and and i could see where some of

that could be coming because he is from the mob

world where he does feel invincible but he even

scares mobsters like i think even other mobsters

are like this guy is a little bit you know a

little bit a little bit crazy you know he's a

little bit you know he can fly off the handle

and kill and shoot a kid just because he's laughing

at him when he doesn't want to or he doesn't

shine his shoes or he says something the wrong

way so he's a little chaotic in that way and

being an Italian mobster during the 1950s, that's

kind of the height of being a badass for sure.

So because of that, just because of the tenacity

of him, I'm gonna say that Tommy DeVito is a

bigger badass than Marty McFly, which puts the

pressure onto Greg. Who do you think is the bigger

badass between these two? Dan that's just because

goodfellas is your favorite movie So that may

happen that way that might have something to

do with it the back of the future is like my

top 15, too So they're not they're not that far

off not too far apart. Yeah, I agree that Marty

McFly is definitely very scrappy and that makes

them very badass to me cuz Michael J Fox isn't

a very big guy at all, but he still Sticks it

to Biff whenever he can he still Puts his neck

on the line when it comes to that kind of stuff

and then Tommy DeVito He just kind of goes out

like a bitch at the end like he doesn't go in

fighting at all I think he knows that he's going

into a trap here and that they're gonna kill

him And he just kind of goes into it. He doesn't

fight at all. He just kind of takes it It's like

giving up committing suicide and yeah, but I

think he believes that he I think he knows what's

going on Yeah, and he just kind of goes along

with it and he just kind of takes the easy way

out even though That is never an easy situation

Which I don't want to say because suicide is

touchy subject and everything but he does kind

of go out Very crappily in that movie still love

the character and everything, but I'm gonna go

with Marty McFly he's definitely Going into the

unknown of this time machine that he doesn't

Really know if it's gonna work at all when he

first gets into it And he fights terrorists in

that first movie sort of But he definitely goes

into this unknown situation of time travel and

I think that's way more badass than being a mobster

I just think Tommy DeVito when he'd like his

death I don't like he it was more of a oh shiites

and then he's dead I think that was kind of like

how it went down, but I think you're saying that

You think I'm giving him too much credit being

smart and that he kind of knew that he was gonna

walk into this thing I think he didn't realize

it until it was far too late, and he was like

oh, that's Well, then he's a really big idiot

He's not a very smart man. He does very stupid

things. That is very true That is that is there's

no denying that for sure I sort of rationalized

it like Tommy DeVito that's his comfort zone

everything to do with Italian mob and you know

everything that they do on a weekly basis Like

you take him out of his comfort zone. How is

he gonna be Marty McFly has no comfort zone.

Like everything he does is just like Completely

new to him and he just owns it every time Yeah,

very true Alrighty, so Marni McFly is moving

on to the next round. So now we are in Round

two the champions from round one are facing off

So Rey who took down Neil deGrasse Tyson is taking

on the Terminator who took out Bender So the

question is who is the bigger badass Rey or Terminator?

Greg you started you ended last round. So you'll

start here Who do you feel is the bigger badass

between these two? Terminator is a machine. He

will just do whatever it freaking takes. Rey

is a little reluctant to go along with things,

I think, to go along with the Force and everything,

and she's definitely backing away, shying away

from it, whereas Terminator just goes... Head

-on just follows his freaking programming So

I'm gonna have to go with the Terminator in those

simple terms All right fair enough, so you're

picking Terminator Chuck move on to you next.

Who do you feel is a bigger badass here between

Terminator and Ray? This is this is tough. Probably

my toughest one so far really big fan of both

of these characters Like more ways than one Wink,

wink. If only they made a female Terminator.

Oh, wait, they did. Oh. But I don't know. It's

really, really tough. I know when I was a kid,

like when I first saw Terminator, I was very

young and like the first Terminator. And that

scared the shit out of me, especially the scene

at the end where he's driving the truck and.

chasing Sarah Connor and it explodes and all

of the synthetic flesh burns off of his body,

so it's just the Terminator skeleton, all the

shiny metal and everything, and he's chasing

her through that factory and stuff. That scared

the crap out of me. He's crawling on his hands

and knees and everything, and that was super,

super intimidating. I was scared of that for

years, but it's hard to... it's hard to apply

the same sort of intimidation factor to Rey,

but I think when you look at how quickly she

was able to master the Force and just adapt to

her surroundings, like she found herself in this

situation where she never thought she'd be in,

she was definitely... Craving adventure, but

I don't think she saw herself being tied up in

any sort of Jedi or Sith battles or anything

and especially to have a you'd have someone trained

in the dark side of the force trying to basically

Snoop around in your head extremely difficult

situation to face and for her to Turn it back

around on him But she has no training just shows

that her sheer force of will and also her strength

of mind and everything Think I think that's the

reason I'm gonna have to go with Ray in this

one So we have one ray and we have one Terminator,

man So I become the deciding factor here. So

I last round I picked Neil deGrasse Tyson over

Ray. I mean to raise credit she the fact that

she was kind of dropped off in planet and had

a friend for herself and Was able to do that,

you know, she's didn't come out like a punk like

Luke Skywalker She was kind of a badass to start

off with and certainly you can hold her own immediately

And I love that you called Luke Skywalker a punk.

He's a little bit of a punk little, you know

Just a little bit, you know, maybe maybe a brat

and I don't know brats and strong I want you

to go to Toshi station with all my friends and

can pick up some power converters Exactly. Yeah,

just like that I don't know Terminator to me.

I think Rey is on her way of becoming she's still

developing into that ultimate badass She's still

I think uncertain at times and you see that uncertainty

Hurt her in certain situations where? Where she's

being you know, not so she's kind of being dominated

by Kylo Ren at first until she finally gave into

the force and was able to kind of defend herself

and Dominate exactly. I was waiting for that

to happen This turned into that 50 Shades of

Grey book. Yeah, it did, unfortunately. That'd

be a very different Star Wars. 50 Shades of Rey.

Oh, somebody needs to write that fan fiction.

I'm sure someone already has. I'm totally not

reading it and wasting my time. I'm sure you

already have in your mind. No, I would not waste

my time with that. I have way too much other

stuff going on. Terminator obviously is a machine,

so he's made, but... we've seen terminator especially

if you look at terminator to develop into almost

like You see like how much he changes he always

becomes his father to Edward furlong and it's

pretty badass to be round Edward furlong and

not kill him because he's super annoying and

you could Considering the fact that a terminator

was mostly designed to kill humans if he slipped

up I think we'd all be okay with it. You know,

it's like really that kid saving the world. I

think we can deal without him I mean, we're not

missing much here. But so no, I think mostly

because you know terminator has I mean the Freaking

sawed -off shotgun motorcycle jacket Sunglasses

like he just walks in and he's automatic badass.

We're right. I think she's she's just not there

what yet, the uncertainty of her, I think is

just what's hurting me a little bit because she's

still trying to accept her fate and she's still

a little bit set on staying home and waiting

for her family, not kind of growing up to the

fact that that's not happening. Because of that,

just that little bit, maybe in two movies she

would go on, but for right now, I think she's...

Well, she took she take it took out like the

smartest man alive right now, but I'm gonna say

the Tormator moves on to the next round You guys

are stupid I kind of I kind of agree with you.

I just wanted to play I mean, it's a good it's

a good point that when you look at the the leather

jacket the shades and the shotgun it's like How

do you not see that as the ultimate picture of

a badass sort of it's like us metal skeleton

Yeah, it's like James Dean on steroids Like the

skeleton of literally on service. Yeah Alrighty

so moving on next we have blondie Going up against

Marty McFly I'll start this round because I ended

last round. This one is strange and difficult

Very different characters here unlike last time

where they're going up against the characters

that were somewhat similar I think and when it

comes down to this I'm thinking of What are the

chinks in the armor for these guys like what

are that? What are the negatives? What are taking

away the badass cred and looking at looking at

Marty McFly? One thing that's hurting his badass

cred is the fact that he almost hooks up with

his mom in the past like he's like he's like

a little He's like a little bit too close to

like looking up with his mom. Like I don't know

about this or more of a badass he was He was

shy away from it because he knew who she was.

I don't think he was ever close to her. He wasn't

a willing partner, but like he almost like...

He put himself... It almost happened like this.

If he hadn't woken up so quickly, perhaps it

would have happened. So he may have become his

own grandpa. You never know. That would be badass.

I don't know what you're talking about. We should

have had Fry on this list because he does do

that. That's just wrong. So where I don't know

I don't I don't see blondie pulling that off

So because of that, I'm gonna go with I'll go

with blondie is a bigger badass Chuck I'll move

on to you here. Who do you feel is a bigger badass

between Marty McFly and blondie? I mean, I think

of blondie I think of him kind of gnawing on

that cigar. It's pretty badass I think I got

to go McFly here though. I mean, a lot of the

points that I made in the last round, I think

still hold true. No matter what situation he

sort of plunged into, McFly just excels. And

I guess, I guess what I could use is that when

he's faced with his own, basically his own mortality,

his own existence, his very existence as he's

sort of fading away. He's up on stage playing

this music, trying to get his father and mother

to basically fall into love so that he can still

exist in the future. There really is no situation

that is more pressure than that for the most

part. He's up on the stage in front of all these

people and he just totally rocks it. I mean,

he owns it. The guy is just cool under pressure,

you know, he just does not cave in in the face

of adversity So I gotta I gotta give him a major

props for that. I gotta go McFly Alright, so

we got one vote Blondie one vote Monty McFly

moving on to Greg Who do you feel is the bigger

badass between these two? You are of course the

deciding factor Yeah, I think Marty is definitely

scrappy like I said last round and is definitely

badass that he would go into this time machine

Not knowing if it was gonna work or not, but

I feel like if a blondie was put in the same

situation He would just do The he would do everything

like Marty McFly, except do it more badassly.

I'm not sure if you could defend badassness by

saying badass, but I'm doing it apparently. But

I think Blondie would just do it and kind of

like still chew on a cigarette looking cool as

ever, not really being bugged by anything at

all. I think he's just stone cold, badass with

his guns pushing around what's his name. He plays

the ugly. Lee Van Cleef? No, Lee Van Cleef is

the bad. Oh, that's right. Ugly is somebody else.

I don't remember his name. Oh yeah, he was ugly.

Yeah, he was ugly. And you definitely have blondie

in the Old West situation would kick ass Blondie

in the future situation would kick ass He would

be punching people in the face not running away

on a pink cover board trying to get away from

people He goes out in a blaze of glory Chuck

Doc Brown be like, my god, Blondie, you shot

your parents. Really guess what? They're feeding

away. She kills everyone. I want to see that.

She shoots everybody. It's like, what did you

do? You shot everybody. That'd be amazing. I

want to see that now. That sounds amazing. But

I'm going to go for Blondie, sorry. fanfic for

um blondie in back to the future do those things

ever cross those fan ships ever cross do you

think back except for here yeah back to the future

and uh good bad and the ugly i don't know i don't

know back to the ugly waiting for that crossover

comic you know they've they've done worse they've

done worse yeah they have done worse all right

so we have now the championship of of the of

uh the sign b bracket where we have terminator

going up against the aforementioned blondie so

now this is you know honor torchenegger versus

clint eastwood terminator versus blondie future

versus past quite the matchup here uh greg you

ended last time so it's only fair that you start

with this one oh no um quite a challenge who

would use the bigger badass blondie or terminator

This is tough. I just want to say metal skeleton

like that is pretty freaking awesome But then

he doesn't feel pain and blondie feels pain and

still sticks through does whatever the hell he

has to takes on humongous odds but then Terminator

does too, but I don't feel like the odds are

as staggered as they are for as they were for

blondie I kind of want to go for Blondie. It's

more great. You're riding on a horse all day.

You're getting freaking sores from that riding

along. Crappy weather. He's getting sand blasted

in his face all the time. He's getting hot metal

shot at him constantly. But then you have Terminator.

I'm really going back and forth on this, you

guys. Which make you the person to do it all.

It's like, yeah Yeah, i'm kind of determined

this last round but then you have terminator

who's who's fought through this war but he he

doesn't feel pain i'm not sure if that makes

him badass or uh that makes him less badass because

he unintentionally uh can't feel pain so it it

He doesn't have that factor to deal with so maybe

that lessens him a little bit I think he feels

pain when young John Connor in Terminator 2 was

whenever he was talking. Well, yeah, I did as

well I think a little yet a little terminator

blood come out of his ears but blondie would

have told the kid to shut up already and He probably

would have shot him and he would have brushed

the hair out of his face with his shotgun I Think

blondie would have slapped him across the face

a little bit. So I'm gonna go with blondie just

that whole pain threshold thing I think to persevere

through that pain whereas Terminator doesn't

really have that pain to go through the suffering

to go to and excel through so I'm gonna give

it to blondie just for that reason and that I

think that's just like a pixel or two of a difference

between the two characters to how Blondie supersedes

Terminator. Alright, Chuck, moving on to you.

Are you in agreement with Greg that it is Blondie

that's a truer badass or is it really Terminator

that should be moving on? Well, Greg brings up

a very good point about the - I bring up a lot

of points. I gotta say that was a good point,

but, you know, I'm gonna go super corny on this,

but, you know, Blondie once had a love and it

was a gas, soon turned out he had a heart of

glass, you know? Do you guys get that reference?

Come on. Blondie, heart of glass, the Hades song.

Yeah, very nice, very impressive. There you go.

Seemed like the real thing only to find I Gotta

I gotta go with like sort of what we discussed

last round was the Terminator. He's just the

iconic image of a badass When you think of a

badass, you know, you You see the black leather

jacket the sunglasses big intimidating muscular

looking guy with a hellish arsenal strapped to

his back with all different kinds of guns strapped

to his front. Just just the image of basically

the image of badassness. And I guess if I could

if I could dare to look a little bit into the

future, I think potentially that Marty McFly

is already out of the race. You can't look to

the future. I think I think potentially a better

candidate to face our champion from the other

side of the bracket, if I may. So I'm going Terminator

here. Man, this is rather, rather tough. I'm

very split on the middle here because, you know,

look at looking at their pedigrees, their, you

know, their tail of the tape as you would. OK,

both have really awesome theme songs or scores

to copy them. Terminator has an amazing one.

You know good bad and the ugly obviously has

its most very iconic score as well To you know

looking at the people who take up those characters

aren't Schwarzenegger Clint Eastwood these two

towering figures definitely who are tough as

nails and People you do not want to mess with

the pain thing is a good point that Greg brings

up though I think he does feel pain in the sense

of more of an emotional pain to be corny in the

sense where you do see him form this bond with

Eddie Furlong and then though being willing to

kind of sacrifice himself for the betterment

of humankind even though it's going against basically

his own creation where he in hopes of stopping

the doomsday from happening. He, you know, he

melts into the fiery, molten, whatever it was,

the fire, where he was able to develop that.

Even though he was a machine, I think there was

a little bit, just a tad bit of an emotion there.

Maybe because that's as much acting as Arnold

Schwarzenegger could do, but that's besides the

point. That's not relevant. It's tough, though.

It's... I mean both have the iconic look very

different looks, but both have the badass look

with the cigar and the fedora hat I guess it's

fedora. I don't know the poncho and you know

clenice woods certainly has that uh The snarl

would be a cowboy hat. Yeah, that'd be a cowboy

hat. That's what that is a fedora I am a that

is really stupid. Good job, dan Wow Man, he had

a he had a beanie. You know the beanie hat he

had man. Yeah, he had a jewish beanie on So there's

there's a lot to go with but I think ultimately

I'm gonna go with Terminator just because I feel

like he gave up more like he had to fight against

his own kind He had to he had to fight an enemy

that he cannot win and he had to protect others

the entire time. It was entire Creation was being

self -sacrifice. So I feel like a little bit

of badassness in that so slight slight edge to

Terminator allowing him to move on to the finals

of the 2016 Badass tournament. Where last week's

champion, Deadpool, is going against this week's

champion, the Terminator. I ended last round,

so luckily I get to start this one to figure

this one out. Man, again, we haven't talked Deadpool

in a very long time, so I feel, looking at the

last two years, it ended up being, I think the

person who won the second side, the side B, ended

up winning. So would that change here with Terminator

against Deadpool? very similar in a way where

you both have characters that can take a lot

of damage. Both have characters that I think,

you know, you see them sacrificing a little bit

for others for sure. Both have pretty badass

looks, too. I mean, they're trying hard to find

the advantage here. I think maybe the one badass

quality I can think of that Deadpool has over

Terminator, though, this is just off the top

of my head that I don't know. He may even...

He wears Crocs. He wears Crocs, which is pretty

badass, but I think he too... I think the humor

element of him, the purposeful humor, I think

adds a little bit to it, where going to the...

Feeling pain aspect where he does feel pain unlike

Terminator and he even does that in the sake

of comedy on occasion especially in his Colossus

fight or in his times where he would basically

dismember himself or for whatever reason and

His moral compass is a little bit more skewed

and a little bit more murky than that of Terminator,

making him a little bit more badass in that end

because he's more unpredictable. So because of

that, I think Deadpool is a slightly bigger badass

than that of Terminator. But, you know, I could

be swayed. I'm not super confident on that, to

be honest with you. Let's move over to Chuck.

Who do you feel is the bigger badass here, Deadpool

or Terminator? Obviously, I'm a huge Terminator

fan. I like all the movies and everything. And

I, as you alluded to, I know very, very little

about Deadpool. The only really experience that

I've had with Deadpool is the movie that just

came out. So you would think I would go with

Terminator, but actually think I'm going to kind

of stray away from that and pull a little upset

here. I'm going to go with Deadpool because I

think my main reasoning is Terminator has a clear

mission programmed into him. He always knows

what to do. He always knows how to carry out

that mission. He knows what steps to take because

he's been programmed. Deadpool, most of the time,

like the impression that I got, like he's really

not sure what he's going to do yet. And honestly,

he doesn't care because he knows he's going to

come out on top no matter what pain he's going

to have to go through. He just doesn't care.

He just wants to go kick ass and he really doesn't

bother coming up with a plan because he knows

he can get himself out of any situation for the

most part and just to basically have the gall

to go into those situations knowing you're going

to be experiencing some excruciating pain at

some point because from a tactical standpoint

you're being outmatched because you have zero

preparation. So just to go into those situations

really sort of take some stones so to speak and

I Think that sort of is the deciding factor for

me and I would totally go with Deadpool for the

most badass Wow, so I'm a little surprised by

that. Like I mentioned though, I could be swayed

to be determiner because I'm not super sold on

Deadpool Greg, do you think you can sell me on

Deadpool or can you sell me on Terminator? Or

are you in agreement and are we going to have

a sweep here with Deadpool being the 2016 Badass

Champion? So my argument didn't cement you? Not

quite. Not quite yet. Not quite yet. Oh, come

on. I'm leaning less, but not all. You know,

I'm still I'm still tilted, I guess. That was

gold, man. That was gold. Like Deadpool, Dan

is tilted. so you've got Deadpool who definitely

many great facts brought up about him and you've

got Terminator who's also had a lot of great

facts thrown out there but I think definitely

Deadpool has a little bit more of the heart and

he definitely faces all of these This pain and

heartbreak and everything else with this sense

of humor and he still keeps going So I think

that adds to Deadpool the thing that maybe takes

away from Deadpool is that he cross dresses Sometimes

in the comic books, but I think that also makes

him more of a badass because he's secure in his

masculinity to pull off a Jean Grey costume So

I'm gonna go with Deadpool with those two things

putting him over the Terminator Wow, so we have

a clean sweep with Deadpool being our 2016 March

badass bracket champion I uh, you know, maybe

it's the thought we are in the world of that,

you know, this is the Deadpool's world. We're

just living in it and little surprise he went

all the way, but you know, he is certainly the

man of the year so far. So any thoughts at all

before we bring this episode to a close? Felt

like actually somehow we made it to the last

round and I felt like the last round was the

one of the easier rounds for me to to discuss

I felt like there was some earlier rounds where

it was a little bit harder for me to determine

like the blondie and Marty Conversation was was

kind of tough for me and it became a little bit

easier as we got into later rounds here, but

uh Definitely very interesting. I would have

thought somebody would have taken Deadpool down

earlier because he is one of my favorite characters

so It's kind of a little bit of favoritism But

was kind of like please go all the way and he

did so that was awesome and I think this is the

the second time that I've had a Horse in the

the race that I was really rooting for and somehow

came all the way through so that's that's pretty

incredible yeah, if you think about it the 2014

badass champion was Adrian Peterson last year.

It was I wouldn't I would not back that horse

again Yeah, you know, it was before things happened.

We didn't we can't tell if you I would I would

pick Thanos if I had that one to do over. Yeah

So maybe we'll have a writing, you know a cross

off and do that again But it's been Adrian Peterson's

a Wonder Woman to this year with Deadpool. So

it's it's kind of a crazy three years so far

I was honestly surprised this year that we had

a clean sweep for the final round there. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Surprised. I do think that... Go

ahead, sorry. See, the actual thing that we take

away from this is that I came up against... One

of my favorite characters versus a relative unknown

and I went against my favoritism of terminator

So i've seen you do that before technically i'm

the badass winner Yeah, that happened the year

of thanos to remember because you You went against

thanos, which was a surprise. So yeah, because

thanos always beats himself So it makes sense

that he makes it to the biggest stage and then

loses but yeah It just it just seemed like a

fit at the time. But then of course after events

unfolded with agent Peterson, I was regretting

that What are you gonna do, you know, at least

it wasn't Johnny Manziel could be worse, I guess

right exactly So we like to hear what you have

to say regarding the 2016 Badass champion. Did

This has been Greg. Or the 2016 Badass Champion,

Deadpool! And this has been Dan, and we've been...

Talking in circles. We'll see you next week.

We should have definitely gone with the epic

trailer guy as a voice for the badass tournament

that should have been happening. He went out

like a bitch though and died of cancer or something.

Just joking. Thank you? What? Didn't he go out

with cancer or something? I'm pretty sure he's

dead. Well, yeah, the guy who used to do In A

World is no longer there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Was

there a different guy you were talking about?

I was thinking of the guy who does it for...

the Honest Movie Trailers, like he does like

the Intimidation Voice, I don't know. I just

meant in general, I wasn't being serious. Okay,

and by the way, I have, I sounded terrible in

this whole thing with the suicide thing, and

now just the cancer thing. Man, you're batting

a thousand. You're going for the 2017 badass

campaign. No, I'm going for the 2017 asshole

campaign.
