About this Episode

TFG1Mike and Alison Richards dive deep into the penultimate episode of Disney+'s Hawkeye series, featuring the shocking return of Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin, Yelena's arrival and the blip sequence, Eleanor Bishop's villainy, and Clint's emotional tribute to Black Widow. They also discuss the Hawkeye merchandise explosion and what's ahead for the finale.

Hey, this is Josh Keaton, and you are listening

to the Geekcast Radio Network. Hi. I made macaroni

if you want some. I'm sorry, what? Hello and

welcome to The Pull Bag. This is episode 467.

It's another So You Wanna Be a Hawkeye. This

is episode five of the Disney Plus series. I

am of course, TFJ and Mike, joining me as always,

Miss Allison Richards. Hello. Hello. How much

more over the top can we go like this episode?

And there are spoilers, folks. There are full

spoilers. I probably even put some shadows in

the glass right here or something. Wait. No,

I was going to say the way they could go any

further is jumping the land shark and having

Jeff appear. That would be so fun. That would

be so interesting. I could just see Jeff surviving

in the East River or whatever. So episode five.

I will say I was not expecting the very beginning.

And I'm still at a stage where I have not gone.

I've started, I've said this before on the show

and on other shows. I had started watching Black

Widow. Right before Karen's health severely declined

and everything happened that happened. I have

not had any like real. It's not that I don't

want to watch black widow. I want to see it event.

You know, I want to watch it eventually. I just

have so much other stuff to do when it comes

to watching stuff and reading stuff and editing

stuff and recording stuff. But what the reason

why I'm saying all of this is. I am very happy

that they put the beginning of this episode the

way that they put it and we start in 2018. That

was great. Yes. It was. And it's good that they

keep us in the timelines, so that way we can

know how old people are as well as where things

are going. Yep, absolutely. And what I mentioned

earlier about Shadows in the Glass, as of this

recording I have not done this yet, but I have

started watching again Season 1, Episode 8 of

Daredevil, which is Shadows in the Glass, which

is the Kingpin origin story. Through daredevil

because I'm hoping there is some line in there

that I can put in there for the end of this podcast

because It's I mean it's obvious but because

because once we get to the end of this episode

and I wasn't sure how much of you know, what

was gonna be said and how fast people were going

to report it, but mr. D 'Onofrio himself Uh,

this was one as, again, as of this recording,

Thursday, December 16th, 2021, Mr. D 'Onofrio

tweeted a day ago on the 15th, when I was a boy

and it's the screenshot of the end title scene.

Cause it took me half a second. Cause I was,

I was more paying attention to what, what song

they put at the end. I was not. thinking that

they were going to change the the overall title

screen at the end. And then I went back and I'm

like, wait, that title screen has a big neck.

Wait a minute. I went back and I screenshot it

and I'm like, holy schnikes. Oh, Lord. But yes,

what led to a decision of such finality. Kind

of jumping the shark here, folks on you, because.

Yeah, we knew going in and and whatever else

I just was not I honestly was not I was expecting

some sort of cliffhanger For next for the final

episode Well, that is a cliffhanger for the final

for those who didn't know No, well, I mean episode

five isn't the final episode. It's been it's

the penultimate one. It's the well Last episode.

Yeah But I'm saying, because this is supposed

to be a supposed mini series, they have not said

anything about a season two. Usually by now,

if there's only six episodes, before the sixth

episode even comes out, like right after the

fifth one comes out, they'll be like, Hawkeye

season two, Hawkeye this, Hawkeye that. And I'm

not saying that's a bad thing. I'm just saying

that's what the media does. I have not seen anything

like that yet. Again as of this recording and

well and that's why i said yes you're right this

is penultimate but i was not expecting this to

go into the finale like i was expecting him to

actually show up in the finale and we leave it

on some sort of cliffhanger at the end of that

but you know it's as it says the marketing says

folks. The best gifts this holiday season come

wrapped in a bow, so we gotta wrap this up in

a nice little bow next time around. But anyway,

going into this episode, oh boy, what were your

thoughts? Well, just to go back on the other

topic first, they've always marketed this as

a six -episode special event. They've never marketed

it as an actual streaming series. True, but...

certain media outlets will try to project is

all I'll say okay I just don't want to get any

viewers hopes up because they never own me either

yeah no not at all but no um when it comes to

like this entire episode yeah well first of all

I was like I called it with with with kingpin

but I actually was not expecting the whole bit

with, uh, Yelena and Kate. Yeah, it wasn't either.

I really liked seeing that and being reminded

again of who Yelena's character is. So that way,

if anyone in the future, you know, they end up

watching this before they watch Black Widow,

they actually will get an idea of who her character

is. Well, I was starving and you took forever,

so I wanted to make food. What do you want? Relax,

Kate Bishop. I just want to talk, okay? Are you

really not hungry? That fight was so long. It's

really tasty. Really tasty. Yeah, I know what

boxed mac and cheese tastes like, okay? I know

it's delicious. And I... The thing I was not

expecting... Well, okay, so... I was completely

expecting Eleanor Bishop to be one of the bad

guys. I already knew this because Eleanor Bishop

in the comic books is the person who becomes

Madame Masque. So I already knew that there would

be shady stuff going on with her. And I'm not

100 % surprised. But in all honesty, if I wanted

to kill you, I would have already. Right as you

open the door. Yeah, I probably wouldn't even

have had time to shut it. I'd have been dead.

No, okay. No, so I'm not randomly surprised she's

the one with kingpin. The bit with Jack being

arrested, that I think is just a complete staging

for Kate's benefit. Because I'm pretty sure Jack

and Eleanor are in it, whatever it is to get

there. Yeah. So. Yeah. I mean, everything in

this episode. It was so good. It was very much

for a like. And I know this is a little different

because it's Marvel and it's Disney and it's.

The cinematic universe and everything else but

you look at limited series or you look at. Like

new series that try to do something like this.

And they just kind of either fall flat or they

don't really specifically for me don't really

interest me after x number of episodes but because

this is what it is. And because Clint has a goal

and Kate has her own goals, yet everything keeps

getting, keeps getting being thrown in their

way to distract them. I just think this show,

as I've said in our other three podcast episodes

we've done, if this show doesn't win some sort

of award, not only for sound, Or the promotion

of the deaf community kind of thing and figuring

all of that out and everything else. Or just

because it is so damn good and fluid. You have

an old guy in Clint. You have old man. He's not

really old, old, but let's face it compared to

Kate. Clint's kind of up there with everything

that he's been through. I mean, he didn't go

through a wormhole in space and have, you know,

psychological bullshit done, but he was mind

controlled. So there is that, uh, you know, and

then you look at Kate and everything she's been

through and it's like Eleanor said earlier, you

know, young people and rich people think they're

invincible. That's just the way it is. And you

see these two characters come together. Now,

again, I'm only up to issues six or seven right

now. in my Matt Fraction reading of Hawkeye,

of Matt's Fraction's Hawkeye series. But I see

there how Clint and Kate are, and I see how they

are here specifically with these actors portraying

the characters, and there's nobody better. For

them to adapt the Fraction's run into this, I

hope there is another six issue or six episode

miniseries or something. I want this to lead

somewhere. At the same time, I'm more than fine

with episode six being at the very end, you know,

Clint and Kate. You know, Clint welcomes Kate

into the family, just like he welcomed Natasha

into the family. You know, and I don't know,

I haven't seen the sixth episode, I don't know.

I'm just saying the whole point of this has been

Clint needs to get home for Christmas. Mm -hmm.

Yeah, and speaking of home, you know, seeing

him and you could just see his stress continuing

to add as he's there longer and longer. Mm -hmm.

And then that phone call home to Laura. Oh, that.

Yeah, because that was it. That was one of those

I may not be coming out of this phone calls.

Yeah, and that hit me a little hard. She's got

her hands on the watch. She looked into her family.

Someone has hired a black widow. I mean, I...

How do you want to think about where this all

goes? Glenn, we've been so careful, really. I...

I mean, the kids and I are so far away. It's

not far enough. It's never far enough. If I don't

end this tonight, huh? It's just a matter of

time before the big guy gets involved. Jesus.

Are you sure? I can't be sure. It's just a sinking

feeling. Then follow your gut. What? It's not

what you wanted to hear? Yeah, no. Listen, you

didn't call looking for permission. And you don't

need it from me, so... I trust your judgment.

Considering what's going on and what has been

going on with me with Karen's passing, I looked

at that scene like every time He's doing something

emotional with the family Like if it's you know,

like the whole phone call with Nate and Kate

comes in and helps thing or when he and Laura

are having discussions It kind of mirrors how

Karen and I were because she Accepted me no matter

what like the fact that I have cerebral palsy

and I don't drive most people would run from

like, oh, you don't drive? See ya. Most, most

shallow people might do that kind of thing. And

I'm, Karen was far from that. And my point in

bringing this up is saying that much like Laura

is with Clint, Karen was with me. She knew my

limits, even though I did the whole Batman thing

and blocked everything out and powered on through

until, you know. My back broke, but you know

it is it is what it is so seeing that relationship

with the two of them it just makes me feel so

much more because My you know With Karen I don't

like Clint still has Laura Clint still has his

kids. I don't have Karen anymore So it's like

this hits a little hard here But in all it's

I'm not saying this as a bad thing at all. It's

it's just one of those things of Some of these

emotional scenes in media now are gonna hit me

a hell of a lot differently than they used to

Oh, yeah anything that That has a parrot dying

usually has an effect on me these days and Bethany

actually will warn me if Something we're watching

is going to have a, um, a character suffering

from ALS because I can't do that. Right. It's

also, I can't really do anything about not things

that are relation to nine 11 because I was 20

miles away from it. So yeah, those, those things

leave, you know, scars on your heart that certain

things tug at better. Absolutely. But also, the

one thing that I liked at the end, and it may

not have been significant in the moment, but

it was Clint knowing Yelena's name, Yelena's

name, without having to be prompted. Right. Which

means, you know, that at some point, Clint, when

Clint shared his family with Natasha, Natasha

told him about her. Yeah. And, you know, that's

something, you know, how Natasha is way more

secretive than even Clint can be at times. That

just shows you another level of trust that the

two of them had. Absolutely. Yeah. I just have

to say I liked the effect that we got. with Yelena

when she blipped. Because I don't think I've

ever actually seen it in that way, where their

eyes are awake and they are aware of something

happening to them and around them. And I was

really, really glad to see that they finally

showed that with somebody. Yeah. It also explains

why Yelena hasn't aged since the Black Widow

movie. Yeah. Very true. Yes. Since the snap,

we see various things in the Marvel Cinematic

Universe of people disappearing and reappearing.

But like you just said, we've never actually

seen how it affects that instantaneous moment

of, oh crap, like she's nowhere near where Thanos

is, where the battle is or any of that stuff.

She's not, she's in some rich lady's house kind

of thing. She's in a former widow's house, actually.

Yes. I was going to say, I know it's not just

some rich lady's house, but. The reason why I

say, oh, it's just some rich lady's house is

because of the assumption of, oh, you mean you're

not being held here, you know, captive by some,

you know, rich white man kind of thing. Like,

no, I paid $20 ,000 for that damn rug. So, you

know, but the effect of it and seeing how much

like other time travel aspects. Whether it's

in the MCU or other media how it's handled was

handled so perfectly Especially with the changing

of the things around her and the wallpaper and

the this and the that and the all that was so

cool Yeah, and then also, you know getting to

see like we saw it in not a Wanda vision about

you know waking up and how that affects like

the places around where you know, she she woke

up and What do you call it, you know when when

Monica woke up in the hospital and It was getting

really confusing because you had patients coming

back pay, you know patients already there and

and all of that But here you act we could get

it at a little bit more of a slow pace and see

exactly what a family went by when a random stranger

shows up in their house who had been there five

years ago. Yeah, it's just so interesting to

see, like, oh, it's been five years. And I love

how, again, where Yelena says, It was 15 seconds

and it's been five years. Whereas again, I will

reference Doc Brown and Back to the Future and

all of that where we're going to set this, you

know, for one minute later and Einstein's going

to, you know, he's going to be in the DeLorean

and the DeLorean is going to jump one minute

in the future and everything's going to be the

same for us, but it'll be different for the dog

kind of thing. So yeah, the other thing I loved

about this was the whole grills apartment scene.

That was so good. Yes. I really appreciate it.

Thank you. No problem. Since there's this guy.

Come on, man. Of course. You think you could

look after the dogs for a few more days? Sure.

I got a hotel and they don't allow dogs. And

then girls all being like... Like no you are

not going back to a hotel you can have my couch

you can have my bed. And i'm like wow girl yeah

oh crap he was so i'm looking at clayton english

who plays girls i'm looking at his imdb for as

an actor. He was peanut in the house of pain

from two thousand seven to twenty eleven while.

Is usually when i find an actor or actress. Uh,

that I like, I'm like, Ooh, I need to go back

and, you know, find everything that they've done.

And he hasn't done much. He's done more writing.

Well, actually, no, he's done more acting than

writing. He's got seven writing credits and 16

acting credits. But, um, man, this guy is perfect

for this character. And he's playing it great.

I mean, I love that they've made him, you know,

a fireman and that, you know, they've given him

debt because, you know, girls in the comic, there

is one issue that really goes into girls as background

in his family and. It scared me because I knew

when that up when that issue happened. I'm like,

oh great We're gonna focus and really get us

invested in a character. They're going to kill

him soon So but yeah, no, I really love what

they did with him here by giving him a lot more

Of a background but still building that friendship

that Clint needs. Mm -hmm. Yeah Very very good

cause II Yes cause the do you do you believe

that he is the instrument of my father's death

yeah. Hundred percent is this just like i believe

jack is a scroll oh yeah i mean you know i said

that last episode i'll say it this episode i'll

say it next episode. Hey you know but. Yeah you

didn't have too much to say facially. or with

his voice or with, you know, with with the sign

language or anything like that to Maya, he just

kind of ignored it. And I'm like, oh, you son

of a bitch. Yep. And I think that's kind of maybe

why they're together is because it gives him

that power that he obviously wanted by offing

her dad. Yeah, usually. I don't know. Sometimes

that doesn't work, especially with who Because

again, I'm I'm not because we don't know where

Where D 'Onofrio's Kingpin is? Kind of like right

now like we're just now seeing him again. We

don't know what has happened since The Netflix

Marvel show things and I can't help but flashback

to Different portrayal of the character completely

different and completely different universe and

all that with the late great Michael Clarke Duncan

and Just having you know that middleman sometimes

doesn't survive. So here's hoping cause he survives

still but Yeah, I don't know. I I just I like

what they've done so far and I like What they're

doing. I said it in one of the other episodes.

I'll say it again here and I will die. You know,

it's like, oh, it's a, it's a funny hill you've

chosen to die on. Well, the one sword that I

will die on is the six episode limited series

Hawkeye on Disney plus is more Christmas than

die hard ever could be. They have put every single.

famous, most every single famous Christmas. Like,

is it this episode? I think. Yes, it is this

episode because we see the tracksuits for like

half a second because he shoots an arrow to them

saying, you know, you know, if Maya wants Ronan

to meet me where we first met, blah, blah, blah.

And I love the tracksuits. We're not Maya, but

as they're, as they're driving before the arrow

hits the windshield, Christmas and Hollis is

playing. Okay. I die hard be damned. I laughed

so much. I am so going to be murdered as somebody

jumps across the bed and grabs the computer.

Geez, yes. You're you're having cat issues tonight.

Not just cats. Oh, hi, Bethany. I mean, it's

perfectly fine. You're wrong, but you. I mean,

you're, you're, you're, you're allowed to have

your opinion. It's wrong, but you're allowed.

No, no. Oh, that's why she jumped across the

bed because I'm bad mouthing diehard. Hey, Hawkeye

is so much better. You know, if you just want

to be on the podcast, it's more than fine. It's

not that big of a deal. You don't have to, you

know, leap across the bed Jack oh it must be

a mistake it you know I mean framed I'll be back

in time for your little Christmas party Un -DMC's

classic tracks. Classic, classic. Or Tony Smith's

in the Olympics. Royal Tenenbaums, right? Tony

Soprano. Forget about it. Royal Tenenbaums. We

look like Royal Tenenbaums. Yes. You know what

you don't see anymore? Tell me. Yeah, I have

a feeling this Christmas party is the tux that

Clint is in that's gonna get ruined. Oh, I'm

sure. Though I have to say I kind of can't wait

for to see Jeremy Renner in a tux because the

aesthetic is very pleasing. I'm really surprised

they haven't done. Like we said, we said this

off air folks, but books a million or Barnes

and Noble or nobody has actually gotten a bookstore

Funko pop exclusive yet. And I'm really surprised

that the tux isn't isn't one of those yet. I

want a grills Funko. Yes, immediately. Yes. If

anyone is listening, I want a grills Funko or

yeah, or, you know, where they have those dramatic

scene ones where it's like the big pop with the

scene. Yep. I want the moment where they're larping

and Clint does the either does the beautiful

slash of the sword and everyone flies back. Yep.

Or the one where, you know, he and Grills are

fighting or with the whole group around them.

Yeah, that would be awesome. But yeah. Yeah,

no, there's just so much untapped potential here

when it comes to Funko and Hawkeye and this show.

And I don't even know where like with the way

that that this Goes in this episode and where

we're leading them like I have no idea what's

gonna happen next week No clue Well, the one

thing that that I know is not just pops we're

getting but we're getting So much merch. I mean

I I have not had this much Hawkeye merch in my

house and I have a shelf of Hawkeye merch but

There's the, you know, I've gotten shirts. I've

gotten sweatshirts. Now that I know what that

ugly cat's ugly sweater is, I'm probably going

to go and get one of those. But I've got that.

They're coming out with action figures. They've

got all the Funkos. Red bubble his like alive

with people making new stickers and artwork over

there And yeah, it's It's it's a great time to

be a Hawkeye fan Yep, the the two target exclusive

Hawkeye Funko pops one is of Kate one is of Clint

They each have scars and she on hers has like

a white Band -aid over one of her facial scars

and on her sweater is I assume that's supposed

to be lucky, but it's basically a dog with a

scent No, it's a pug. It's a pug. Oh, it's a

pug. Okay you know and Like that whole the whole

design on that on on her target exclusive pop

is is awesome and then you get to Clint's which

is currently my Facebook Profile picture. Yep.

Yep. And then that's the cat sweater. And again,

I like how even though you look at the heads

of the Funko Pops, specifically the male heads,

and I'm sure this is with the female heads as

well, but you look at the male heads. And yes,

they've stylized his hair to look like Clint

and it's the color and the whatever, but where

the scars are and how different they are from

Kate's. And then obviously you get the body and

the body is different and whatever else, but

I'm really, really digging that. And then we

have, what are the other ones that we have? We

have Kate with Lucky, which it... Thought was

supposed to be a Walmart exclusive because that's

what it was advertised to me as but it's not

it's a regular pop which is awesome that it's

a regular pop and we have Kate with her bow by

her side, which I believe is an exclusive. I

don't remember off top man. I'm sitting here

Kate with lucky is the Is the common is the is

the common and then the Kate shooting her bow

is the Amazon not the exam is the Amazon exclusive

Yeah, the Amazon exclusive and then obviously

we have just Hawkeye in his suit, which is awesome

And he's got his bow by his side, which is really

really cool. Yep, but yeah, no, it's uh it's

a fun time to be a Hawkeye fan and You know,

yeah, I mean just shirts alone go over to hot

topic and you just put in the search bar and

it's currently got between. Gosh, what does this

got? It has three pages that are majority of

them are shirts, but they just came out with

some stuff from her universe. And one of them

I'm looking at right now and I just, I'm like,

ooh, I need is a Kate Bishop track jacket. Um,

so it has what her, what her, um, what her, her

archery outfit is, but as a track suit jacket.

Yeah, that's awesome. And it has thumb holes.

It has thumb holes. Yeah, that is very cool.

So yeah. Yeah, all these designs are awesome

Yeah, I have the one of the I I have the one

of Clint and Kate as gingerbread cookies on t

-shirt Because that was just adorable when they're

not with all these lucky shirts. They didn't

have these before Yes, folks we're Hawkeye Christmas

shopping anybody want anything no, not really

Sorry, um, not distracted. But for the episode

as a whole, um, you could tell it was the penultimate

because it was get, it's getting the, it's getting

that, um, to that point where in, in, in screenwriting

where we're not at the what, um, at the lowest

point. That's going to come somewhere in the

episode of in the final episode. Right. But we

are we are having bad guys close in for sure.

Right. Yeah. Oh, yeah. So so yeah. And my fun

screenwriting terms, you know, the. The Save

the Cat Beats, yeah. So we're definitely almost

to the end of act two of the story, and act three

is going to be shoved into one hour episode.

But that's the thing, though. We're five episodes

into this. This does not feel like anything was

shoved at me. This feels like, even though it's

only six episodes, it still feels like the Marvel.

long game of what they do in the other shows

and in the cinema, in the movies. And it's just

so good because they're hitting a, especially

with where, again, I will say the reason for

me personally, why this out Christmas is die

hard is because. You just keep bringing this

up for, you know. Hey, you know what? The reason

why, you know, Christmas is diehard for me is

because every little note of every Christmas

song that they've used is perfectly placed. Every

episode has one or two or three Christmas songs

somewhere in the episode, or the end credits

have a Christmas song in it and whatever else.

And it's just, you know, it is what it is. But

yeah, you're right. We are gearing up for one

hell of an episode next week for episode six.

Yeah. And I mean, and I mean, this could, I could

see this ending with Clint bringing Yelena and

Kate both home for Christmas, you know, depending

on, you know, the fallout that happens with Eleanor

for Kate. But I wouldn't be surprised if Yelena

come home with Christmas because, you know, she's

Nat's sister. She's technically family. Mm hmm.

But I I mean. Since streaming has come out and

even before streaming came out with just regular

cable network we were we were losing the idea

of a mini series where you know they would take

a like. a movie that it would need like six to

eight hours to actually show properly like Dune

was and they would break it up into those episodes

but it had a complete story arc beginning to

end and that's kind of what we're getting here

is that when they wrote this you can tell they

had one complete story they wanted to tell they

limited their time frame and they wanted to make

sure that when it gets to the end, it's going

to have a definite ending. Now saying that they

won't leave in things, you know, to come back

to haunt Kate, you know, for wherever Kate goes

next, or Clint goes next, you know, that's different.

But I don't, I don't foresee them continuing

a Hawkeye in this way, but Jeremy has talked

about that he's open for a West Coast Avengers.

So I would see this because this style that Kelly

create that Kelly created for West Coast Avengers

with Clint and Kate running it is very much the

same humor style that started in fractions run

and that, you know, Matt. Rose Matt continued

on and that she has. So, you know, it's, I would

see that that would become a series. And then

that would bring the humor that they tested out

here to see how, if it would work. Yeah, I agree.

And it's one of those things where I think they're

because they can now use it because of, you know,

Fox and Netflix and whatever and all that and

everything else, but using Kingpin, using Vincent

D 'Onofrio, I need to see him in more now again

because I liked him in the series that he was

already in. There was a, was it this week or

when was it? I'm actually scrolling through my

YouTube history to see where that video was.

Maybe it was in my Google feed. I don't remember.

Uh, there was a, somebody did a video interview

recently with D 'Onofrio where they asked him,

you know, Oh, so if your character is back, what's

the one person you want to see him go up against?

Well, of course the answer is Spider -Man. So

if the Hawkeye stuff doesn't continue and we

get a, an ending that, you know, works for everybody.

Maybe, maybe, Kingpin can go elsewhere within

the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Uh -huh. Well,

I mean, they've already talked about how, um,

I mean, we're getting Charlie Cox in, um, Spider

-Man No Way Home, which came out yesterday, by

the way. Um, so, you know, we've got him there.

They're talking already about another season

of daredevil. But this time now being on Disney

Plus that poor show has moved like three times

hasn't it? Yeah, no, it's always been on Netflix.

Oh, it's always been Netflix. All right. Yep.

Well, you know, but depending on when they can

get because they're they're slowly pulling their

shows off of Netflix and move if they can but

those were exclusive. So I think It's harder

for them to take them down, so it would be something

that they would do a soft reboot, like where

you would reintroduce the world, but for the

people who already followed Netflix, they would

go from, you know, from the point where the series

left off. Yeah, absolutely. In like a timeline.

Yeah, that would be interesting, and that would

be fun because... And Clint is... A regular supporting

character in Daredevil. Oh yeah. Because, because,

um, he, uh, we call it in the very beginning,

you know, after Clint became an Avenger, Black

Widow went and, and, and was a room in with Matt

Murdock for awhile. And there was a, there was

a whole like little rivalry between. between

the men, um, for her affection. So, you know,

if the, if they start a daredevil series there,

I don't see it. Um, well, I see it having the

opportunity for, you know, either Kate or Clint

to pop in more likely Kate. Cause I think she's

state cause she's going to be a New Yorker. Whereas

Clint is going to go home to Iowa to his family.

Yeah. I mean, It, it's going to be interesting

to see where they take everything. And it's just

so fun to see the two of them, to see the whole

cast, honestly, even he's only ever really been

in like two or three scenes, but the, the clang

guy, I think, I think Orville is his name. Uh,

no, he has nothing to do with the popcorn. Um,

but basically, you know, we were talking about

when Clint. Went to the lark first the first

time and we're talking about how you know someone's

always there doing the clanging noises that guy.

Yeah so you know you have all of this coming

together into one great miniseries and who knows

you know. If they you know they do more stories

with a great and if they do more with kate i

think that's gonna be really fun because. Haley

Steinfeld has really brought her off the page

onto the screen. Yeah, right. And Haley's got

a good gig with Marvel right now anyway, because

not only is she the face of Kate Bishop, But

she also is the voice of spider verse when stacey

that's right i forgot about that right and they

got the new spider verse movie coming out next

year because there's trailers up for it and i

can't wait but yes she's she's not going anywhere

in the marvel world and she. There's i think

that's the whole point for bringing in these

younger you know. These young avengers is that

way now that contracts have ended for a lot of

the originals you know they've. They bring in

a new set bring in a new blood but that doesn't

mean that you know if needed for flashbacks or

for mentoring the old the old guard who still

alive can't come back yeah absolutely then they

develop cloning and they find their DNA somewhere

in that just compound. And then they all come

back. Again. Uh -huh. And then Ultron shows up

and screws everything up. Yeah. And that's the

other thing I love about that series is that

you never know. We may get a what -if thing from

Hawkeye for next season now. Uh -huh. Yep. Oh,

boy. What if? Yeah. Yeah, because I mean... The,

the fun thing would think is that like, what

if Kate hadn't destroyed the clock tower, you

know, or come home for that Christmas, Jack would

have ended up getting the suit and Jack would

have been running around as Ronan, which is what

I bet you is was his goal in the beginning anyway.

Yeah, that would be awesome. That would be very

cool to see. What they would do with that them

scrolls man they be weird anything else we wanna

say about the fifth episode we leave anything

else out i don't think we did clint talking to

natasha yes yeah well we gotta say it right though

clint talking to natasha with out the hearing

aid because he turned it off and took it out

so he could only focus on. on the memorial and

just talk to her without having any back, you

know, that was awesome. Well, I don't know if

he took it out or if he replaced it with his

phone earbud, because he goes and turns right

away and calls Laura. So. Natasha. I really need

to talk to you right now. You were the bravest

of us all, weren't you? Loyal, stubborn. You

always had to win, didn't you? And for a stupid

one's rock. I've replayed that a million times

in my head hoping for a different outcome. But

I do my best every day. I don't know what you

gave me. Just wanna say I'm... Just wanna say

I miss you. And I'm so sorry for what I'm about

to do. That's that's true, but the way that I've

noticed the hearing aid when he wants to turn

it off or take it out Yeah, is the sound on it

goes down like I heard the sound on it go down.

So maybe you're right Maybe he switched it I

don't know all as I know is when he turned that

down standing in front of the memorial Every

piece of background noise vanished and it was

just silence and it was just him talking to her.

And for me that that gives me so many feels because

you. We spent you know movies going through and

talking about seeing their friendship play out.

seeing how tight their bond is. And then you

have endgame happen and, you know, she basically

gave him back a life to have and he's struggling

with it. He doesn't admit that he's good. He

struggles with it every day. The fact that he

keeps going back to her as one of his pillar

stones to keep him going, even with her not being

there anymore, it just shows how deeply entrenched

in his heart she is. Yep. Yeah, and it's all

about honestly with Clint, it is all about compartmentalization.

Yeah. He has the Avengers and all the adventures

in one part of his brain heart. Lungs whatever

in one part of him and then he has home life

with Laura and the kids and whatever in another

part and then his friendship with Natasha is

completely even though he brings it into the

rest of the worlds. It's also completely separate

for him because he just wants to have a conversation

with her and it's completely different their

conversations when she was alive versus the conversations.

we've witnessed him have with his wife. It's

so very, very different. I mean, you can clearly

tell, as we've already said this episode and

the other episodes, Clinton and Natasha, it was

not, she was in love with Hulk. It's all like,

you know, I mean, that's what it is. Yeah. She

was in love with Bruce Banner. I don't think

she was in love with Hulk. Well, you know what

I mean. But like, you know, the whole point of

being able to have a best friend friendship that

is not a romantic thing. And there are just certain

things that you can tell your best friend that,

you know, you maybe sometimes can't tell your

wife or you want, especially with Clint, with

everything that he's been through, maybe he wants

to spare Laura some of that stuff. However, seems

to me she knows everything. Oh, it seems to me

that not only she knows everything, but I bet

you she and Natasha teamed up against him half

the time. Oh, yeah. Probably. Yeah. I love that

the Hawkeye series, not only is it focusing on

making Kate Bishop into the hero, and it has

the story with the Ronan costume, but Natasha

is a character here, even though Scarlett Johansson

has not stepped once onto the set. Because she

is. Part of him in a way, you know, and I love

the fact like how you mentioned about that a

man and a woman being best friends Like this

because you don't see that a lot in television

Because everyone, you know will automatically

try to start shipping them and and and such and

there's not saying anybody Out there who isn't

already shipping the two of them if they wanted

it but the way that they presented here is. Unique

to the mcu because clint's origins in the comics

started them as romantic and then they built

this friendship after it. What is still you know

they still have that romantic tie to each other.

Whereas here in MCU, they don't. It is straight

up, you know, family bond. It's a found family.

Yeah, absolutely. And I believe that ScarJo and

Disney and everybody have, you know, settled

their differences and whatever else, because

I'm reading article links here. Yeah, they settled.

Saying that she's coming back for some secret

MCU project. Several different news sources are

saying this like Screen Rant and Polygon. These

are posted last month, just before Thanksgiving.

So there's a chance that, you know, as much as

I love the people who did the voices in the What

If cartoon, there's a chance we may see some

sort of version of Scar Joe in. in something

with hot guy in the future just as long as they

don't do this comic story line that they got

is it to be no it's not. It's tales of suspense

because i love i love that story i will i love

the winter hawk love that is in that story but

the way natasha came back after secret empire

just just creepy red creepy. But yeah, if she's

going to magically come back, I hope it's because

when Steve returned the Soul Stone and maybe

he sacrificed Red Skull and Natasha became the

new guardian up there or something, I don't know.

Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see what

happens in the future of - Natasha, if, you know,

we have another version of her in another universe,

or if she's a force ghost through Marvel, or...

who knows? Or she shows up in Doctor Strange's

Multiverse of Madness. Mm -hmm. She could do

that, yep. Since, you know... Multiverse is real.

Yeah, since Spider -Man, you know, went and had

to have his no -way home. Yep. Yeah, it's gonna

be fun. It's gonna be interesting. Wrapping up

for this for episode five of Disney Plus Marvel

Studios, Akai. This was so fun. It was. It also

really made me want to eat mac and cheese. Forks,

forks. No. You have one fork? I'm one person.

That's so weird. Because mac and cheese is awesome.

You're probably thinking, what? This is crazy.

I'm going to have dinner with the enemy. And

she made some really good smelling macaroni.

And I mean, seriously, Yelena breaking into the

apartment and then just like she'd waited so

long that she got hungry and so she just started

cooking her Kate's food. Mm -hmm. I wasn't sure

that Kate's apartment was gonna survive after

what happened with it, but it's still standing,

sort of. It's just soggy. Yeah. It's so funny,

I... With certain things, I'm a very specific,

picky person. And with mac and cheese, I am very

specific and very picky and very lazy. They have

Bob Evans tasteful sides. That is the only mac

and cheese I will eat. Because it's just very

simple. You buy it, you bring it home, you vent

it, you microwave it, you eat it. You don't have

to add anything. You don't have to cook anything.

You don't have to boil any water. It's mac and

cheese right there. And it is so good. And I

think I had a bowl after watching this episode.

One of the times I watched the episode. Yeah.

Nope. I'm a Kraft mac and cheese girl, but I

substitute the milk with sour cream. What? Yeah,

it makes it thicker and creamier. But doesn't

it make it sour? No, the cheese overpowers it.

Trust me, that powdered cheese overpowers everything.

That is true. Look at this. Who's that with my

mom? That's the guy I've been worried about this

whole time. Kingpin. You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch.

I'm finished with school for the semester. I

don't have to go back to January. Yay, Christmas

vacation. Yay. No, I mean, I just expect to see,

you know, Superman and Lois tapes coming back

the week of January 11th, because that's when

the new episode, the first. episode appears.

And they've been releasing some awesome behind

the scene footage. In fact, they, I think Entertainment

Weekly released some photos of Lucy Lane over

for her first appearance on the set. And they

also put up a video in their socials with an

interview with with Tyler about his experience

last year and what he's looking forward to this

year in terms of Clark and Clark's story. Very

cool, very cool. Yes, go check out the Superman

and Lois tapes, folks, over on the Fortress of

looking pretty empty. Yeah. My, my tank is beyond

empty at this point, but it's just one of those

things where I'm not sure what I'm usually by

planned out. I have no plan right now. So spend

a couple of weeks, a couple of weekends getting

everything straightened out. Yeah. heading and

getting us headed to our five hundredth episode

and At least I know what episode 499 is gonna

be. Oh, what's that? Oh, it's something I forget

it was something that Bethany and I talked about

in her origins episode where she wanted to rant

about some comic thing She oh, that's what it

is Bethany Kessler's on unpopular comic book

opinions. That's what it was supposed to be Oh

Lord. You just faced that in a pillow laughing.

Yes, because when we did her Origins episode,

she said to me something to the effect of, I

have so many unpopular comic book opinions that

nobody even, like everybody will just look at

me like, and cock their head and be like, what?

I'm like, okay, well we can make that an episode

at some point. So make your greatest game to
