About this Episode

The podcast wraps up Season 2 of Jem and the Holograms with the final four episodes. BritRock introduces Jetta's working-class English family, while Out of the Past reveals the origin of Starlight Music and Synergy through Emmett Benton's diary. The two-part Hollywood Jem concludes the season with Jem nominated for an Oscar and Kimber caught in a romantic triangle. Hi, this is Christy Marks, creator of Gem and

the Holograms, and you're listening to a truly

outrageous podcast with Mike Aimee and Nicole.

It's showtime, Synergy. Welcome to Showtime Synergy,

the gem review podcast here on the GeekCaster

Network. I am Em, and joining me here are my

hologram girls, Amy. Hello. Hello. And Nicole,

hello. Aloha. Yes, and as of this moment, about

nine months ago, Nicole got her Gem in the Holograms

DVD set. Woohoo! Oh, podcast magic. Yeah, exactly.

Um, yeah this The DVD set is amazing. There's

three or four tons. Oh, yes Oh, it does. It does.

It really really does. So awesome so we are here

today in episode 17 of the podcast to talk about

the final four episodes of Gem in the Holograms

season 2 uh... as well as will be running down

our favorites least favorites and no other good

stuff uh... later on the in the show for overall

on season two uh... and we've got a few episodes

in here you know one episode here at least could

have been the series finale we'll talk about

that in a bit but it it could have been it probably

should have should have been the series finale

But um, but yeah, that's that's what's going

on as far as As far as that goes, I guess we

should just get right to it, right? Why not?

Let's let's go for it, man Come off it, Jedda.

The Royals are such good friends of my family.

What with our titles and all. And Charles, dear

lad, the Queen this, the Prince that. Jedda,

you're so full of hot air, you must wear lead

in your shoes to keep you from floating away.

You watch your mouth, you mangy lowlife yank.

I'm a blue blood, you know. One of these days

I'm gonna call your bluff, Jedda. You know, I

sure would love to go to England. My brother

Craig is playing in London. Go to England? Hey,

why not? We'll take one of my father's jets over

and spend the weekend. But, uh, we can't just

up and go. Look, we don't have any concerts coming

up for a couple of weeks. This is the perfect

chance for you to show Roxy how wrong she is.

Here's the phone. Make the arrangements. Well,

if you don't mind, I'll talk to my parents in

private. Operator, give me Kingston on how England...

Here's Flo. This is the horse me mate told me

to plonk a quid on. Silver Blaze. Bertie, answer

the blinking phone. Oh, I always have to do everything

around here, me blooming self. Hello. Hello,

Mum. It's your little Sheila. It's Sheila. All

right. What kind of trouble are you in now? Listen,

I'm coming home this weekend and you've got to

help me convince the rest of the Misfits that

we're aristocrats. Mum, Pazazz is rich. Her father

has billions. If we play our cards right, we

can do her out of oodles of dosh. Did you say

rich? It's out of the question! Impossible! But

Mum, if Pazazz finds out I've been lying to her,

she might kick me out. Then I'd have to come

live with you again. What did she say? Just leave

it to us, love. We'll have a rose waiting for

you at the airport. Alright, first up today is

Brit Rock. The air date was January 7th, 1988.

It was written by Christy Marks. The misfits

go to England to meet Jetta's supposedly aristocratic

family. Jetta's lower -class parents strike up

a deal with a lord of England, which ends badly

because he is to give up the house and power

at midnight to his nephew. Actually, 8 o 'clock,

but... Meanwhile, the holograms come to play

a show in London and meet Craig Phillips and

help the true Earl get back his title, which

pizzazz almost got tricked into trying to buy.

So here's the thing the original DVD sets that

that Rhino had put out for this They only put

out the first two seasons. They never got to

do season 3 thankfully shout factory came along

and did it properly But because I think Netflix

was going off of the original DVDs For some odd

reason this episode is on disc 2 of the gem in

the hologram season 3 DVD, but it's not Let me

see which one that makes No, I know I have shout,

okay I don't know why they put that that note

needs to be deleted because it's not on the shout

ones It might have been on the old rhino ones,

but it's not This episode is on the Season 2

disc, I should know, I just watched it on the

disc. Featured songs, I'm Gonna Hunt You Down

by The Misfits, sounds like the Cole Steam song,

Between Me and You by Jim and the Holocams. So

two new songs, no re -use this time, so that's

interesting. I like this plot. It gives an insight.

We finally get an origin for Jedha, which is

nice. The good thing about it is the origin wasn't

like, hey, we're going to focus all on Jedha

right now. A lot of stuff was just implied. She's

got a really interesting family that are happy

to have her back and half not. Yep, so it's like,

oh, okay. Well, you know the dysfunction We know

now why she makes stuff up because her parents

are kind of you know, they do that too Yeah,

yeah, so it was kind of like, you know you know

despite that she's she's found some successes

you know she plays a really great saxophone so

because of that she's in with the misfits but

i don't think you can be a member of the misfits

without having some sort of dysfunction oh no

i mean the closest we've come and this might

hurt people uh the closest we've come is kimber

has been an honorary misfit and stormer has been

an honorary hologram yeah maybe that's their

dysfunction wow oh that's awesome oh boy um but

i like this one i like that we see craig again

i like um You know, I thought that was interesting

seeing, you know, he finally, you know seeing

what happened to him because he just disappears

And it's during the initial Episode way back

in season two with the with the talent search

to the beginning of season two So I kind of like

that we see him again As far as the plot goes,

I don't like I was just characterization at all

I love you Christy, but jeez that that was just

too much drama I know women that are like that.

Yeah. You know, that you can't get out when you

want to say that they go ballistic. And then

his friends are saying, oh, he's going about

it all the wrong way. He was trying to tell her.

He was trying to tell her that Stormurus, how

is that going about it the wrong way? In all

fairness, why did he have to make it so? Just

say, hey, this is my sister. Instead of saying,

yeah, he's dragging it out. He's trying to make

it so big. You know that they did that for the

drama. I mean, come on. I know. And it was stupid

of him. It does. This show does play off of the

whole soap opera kind of thing for kids. Come

on. It's going to stay stuff like that. I mean,

how many I don't know if you guys used to watch

soap operas back in the day. My mom did. And

as a kid, I kind of was raised a little bit on

it. It's like things like that happen all the

time. So it's like, you know, in real life, stuff

like that won't happen because in real life,

people don't drag it out like that on purpose.

But yeah, there's just like. It was comical.

It just made me laugh because you knew what was

coming is before it even happened So I was like,

yeah, I'll give it I'll just I'll give it a pass

just because it's supposed to be that way It's

the only way to make it pull off the right way

because they had to get everybody out of the

room So that they a bomb would go off on you

know Craig and Stormer so it was like Well, the

bomb was for Mason. The bomb wasn't even for

them. But to make the suspense work, you had

to get everybody out of the room except the two

that you wanted to be in the room. And so it

was like, there had to be some gotchas. Yeah.

I can't believe Kristy Marks tried to kill Stormer.

I can believe it if it was Bazzazz or Roxy who

did it, but not Stormer. Come on now. But they

saved them. They were never hurt. We love stormer,

I mean Everybody does just because they've already

built her character up enough in this in this

season to make you go Oh, we really like stormer.

She's just you know She's kind of got in with

the crowd that she's in but we love her cuz she's

still sweet deep down You know when she's away

from the the Misfits she she acts better than

she should you better than she does and you know

it's just like okay so we've already kind of

got that little sympathy note going of course

they're gonna put that person in the conflict

I would I'd be like if it was if it was pizzazz

I'd be like no no let her die it's okay You know,

if Pizzaz died, I want Stormur to be... If Pizzaz

died, it would be a knockdown drag -out battle

between you and Nicole as Roxy and Jedda as to

who gets control. Well then it has to be Roxy

because Jedda's the new girl. I think if Pizzaz

was, you know, the picture, Stormur probably

would become a hologram. Oh, most definitely.

most likely i can't do it i'm out of here what

did you think of the plot overall nicole i really

had fun with this i think what i like most about

this is part of a hologram of a spell spoiler

is that the misfits go somewhere without the

having the holograms go someplace first. It was

their choice to go to England before the holograms

did. Like, yay! The holograms are starting to

follow the Misfits. Yeah, see? See? I really

tell you, I think they're really good buddies.

They just play it off for us, you know? Yeah.

I had a lot of fun with this. There's only one

major thing I had a problem with this, but we'll

get into that later. All right, anything else

Amy, uh This this episode was pretty intense

slapping it over reactions Jenna's background

a plot to eliminate a royal. It was pretty fun.

Yeah, I liked this episode Yeah, it's kind of

like what reality TV is today. Oh Wow, yeah,

we'll be back after this with hologram moments

Alright, it is hologram moments time. It's interesting

yet convenient for the plot that the Misfits

and Jem will both be in England But like I said

The Misfits did a good job and didn't just follow

them. They had another reason why to go to England,

right? No, and I and I agree with that I'm just

saying when I when I saw that I'm like hmm the

Misfits thought of it first and now they're gonna

say Jem is gonna copy them which They were going

for two completely different reasons. I don't

even think they faced off with each other I mean

the entire plotline of this episode has Jim and

the holograms doing their thing Stormer is kind

of but not really with them because she wants

to see her brother and then you have the original

miss well you have as as Roxy and Jetta at the

house trying to pull a con on everyone and it

was just really really interesting But I still

thought that was really convenient for the plot

that they're both going to the same place Which

they've done before that poor Fox when he was

caged looks so They named him yeah, they named

it I think the guy says that the Fox's name was

Ulysses. Yeah, I love that so cute Fetch unless

he's fetch. I love, uh, I love Jim's line. Synergy.

Send a pack of hounds to make those mongrels

heal. I thought that was a good one. There was

a lot of good one liners in here. Yeah, there

are a lot of them. What did you like about this

one, Amy? Ah, you're so full of hot air. You

must wear lead in your shoes to keep from floating

away. You stole the show with that liner, man.

She always does. She gets all the great one -liners.

She really does. I also have another one -liner

from Roxy in here too. Okay. Which she throws

the helmet on Cheta. Nobody's home. Oh, that

was brilliant. That was so awesome. There's so

much to like about this one. Um, let's see there.

That was, that was one. Um, let's see. I liked

the Tom Selleck look -alike. He just totally

worked for me. I was like, oh, look, he looks

like Tom Selleck. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, Lord Trevor

looked like Tom Selleck. I like the fact that

it all works out for her parents. Somehow they

find a way to be able to impersonate a rich English

family. I was like, how are you going to do that?

Yeah, they just get really lucky I guess I don't

know you can just go down to the you know horse

races anytime and figure out how to do it it

all works out um and the fact that Jeddah was

like not worried that Hey, mom dad. I don't know

how you're gonna pull this off cuz like I know

that you can pull it off, right No failure there.

I mean, it really would have ended badly had

she showed up and nothing was there. No one was

there to meet them. And Pazazz is like, okay,

where's your rich posh family? And she'd be like,

uh, it could have ended badly. I like the fact

that the twist to the guy that they thought was

the Earl is the fact that he's eliminating or

he's plotting to eliminate somebody else who

is actually the real Earl. that that was a good

that I liked that for the story. I like the fact

that Stormer struck out on her own to go to London

to see her brother. Yeah, the I hate The biggest

overreaction has to go to Aja. Like even more

than, than Kimber's. Cause like that was a big

overreaction. And we're going to talk about overreactions

this episode because there's a couple of other

overreactions that help happen in this. But Aja,

Aja takes the cake. Her going away. She's your

wife. And then slap and walk off. I was like,

Oh my gosh. Wow. It was absolutely entertaining

and I was laughing my backside off and falling

out of my chair, but still. But I'm glad it all

worked out. But the thing is, is that I want

Craig to stay around now because like, you know,

Craig and Aja need to stay together. Blue hairs

need, you know, people with blue hair need to

stay together. Oh, goodness. It just needed to

get the rest of the other holograms sorted so

that everybody has a boyfriend, right? Well,

they pretty much all do at this point, except

for Rhea. Sort of. Sort of. I mean, you've got

Jem with Rio. You've got Kimber with Sean and

Jeff. You've got Shana with... We'll talk about

that. Kimber with Sean and Jeff. Yeah, it's a

huge issue. We'll talk about that later. We've

got Shana with Anthony. We've got... uh... is

uh... and uh... and and craig the only one that

really doesn't have one is is ryan honestly ray

is way too young how do we know what her age

is? she's not that young if they're old enough

to be playing in a In a musical band, they've

got to be over the age of 18, 20 years old. I

mean, she's old enough. She can have a boyfriend.

I could have sworn when we were introduced to

her, she was only 15, 16, something like that.

She was not... I'm going to call shenanigans

on that. You can call shenanigans on it if you

want to. I'm just saying I could have sworn she'd

be younger. There's got to be a gem wiki. We're

going to have to look that one up. Okay. Yep.

Uh, I loved the Ulysses. The little fox's name

was Ulysses. Mason's pet is like, the guy's name

is Mason, right? Okay. I want to make sure I

wrote that down right. So, okay. Um, that in

Mason having, I don't know if you guys caught

this in the, the, the between you and me video.

I swear Mason has like a total crush on, on Jim.

Because it's like he was having a daydream was

like, oh, we're together and like they're king

and queen in the video and I was like, oh geez

really guy That he was having a total daydream

on that in that video just saying I'm glad that

they got all of his finances sorted for the concert

afterwards But I honestly love most of all the

consequences of what the misfits have in the

end Having to wash in the kitchens. That was

awesome And then of course now and then at that

point jett is like going off on I'm the secret

sister to mason and I know the reaction with

the misfits. It was just brilliant It was just

too brilliant. I had fun with this episode. It

was great The gem wiki does not list her age,

but I Really like if if you look at all the other

girls and say they're in their early to mid 20s

I would say Raya is in her late teens early 20s

No, I have to say she's got to be at least in

her early 20s She might be a little younger than

the other three or four But I don't I never I've

never seen her as like a teenage age. I see her

as as it early 20s She seems to have more head

on, she seems to have her head on her shoulders

better than Kimber does, so that immediately

gives her more age. I still think Kimber's as

the youngest of the group. That would completely

make sense after the end of this episode. I mean,

after the end of reviewing the four episodes

that we're reviewing today. Alright Nicole, what

did you what else did you have? Oh? Amy chicken

over man. I'm sorry No, that's right cuz you

mentioned a lot of things like I said, I enjoyed

that the Misfits Went to England without having

to have Jim go there first I put down that's

one smart Fox my gosh. I love that. I feel so

bad with like let's go to Fox. I'm like I enjoyed

it. I did enjoy that video because it shows Pazazz.

She may be a brat, but she is more high society,

so she was able to have a horse a lot better

than Jedda. Because Pazazz, she's in her element

here. And being a brat as well. And I put down

that that Roxie got two good jobs in. I love

that line. You're so filled with hot air. You

must wear wet shoes. Love that line. That was

awesome. Great writing. Great writing. So many

fun moments. Yep. Absolutely. Now let's get to

the not so fun moments after this. For the misfit

moments for Brit Rock, I know we've had this

conversation before in season one with Stormer,

and I know it is never going to work, but I wrote

down that I do wish Jetta would just be honest

with the rest of the misfits as far as where

she comes from and all that stuff. But then I

realized, oh wait, Pizzazz is going to take that

and run with it and just be a douche to her.

Understand why Jetta has to be such a hard -ass

and and you know someone who boasts and tells

stories and Whatever else I get it. I still I

Don't know. I wish there's a little bit more

honesty. If this ass isn't giving her a hard

time It would be Roxy giving her a hard time

because I mean because Roxy's evil. Well, you're

just holding her ground Well, she's also the

the tough girl, I mean we got her back Backstory

already. She doesn't take any shenanigans. So

the fact that Jetta comes in here and starts

talking Talking things up and stuff like that.

She can smell BS a mile away Because she used

to be you know, she's just that tough girl. So,

of course she calls her out on it So it's like

if it's not pizzazz calling her out on it. It'll

be Roxy because Roxy just it just rubs her the

wrong way She's a tough girl. She can smell it

a mile away um... who needs her and her creepy

brother are you kidding me pizazz come on now

since when was craig ever creepy oh my god well

she's an only child how is eric not involved

with this scheme at all it seems like this would

be right up his alley he's like because pizazz

on a whim wanted to go to england yeah but like

Eric has to run a business still, you know that,

right? So he can't just go jetting off, you know.

He's got to be off, like, plotting to get back

at Jerika for kicking him out of Starlight Music,

right? Yeah, that'll come up next. I know, I'm

jumping again. And I had to put this here because

I understand that the drama is the drama, but...

Wow, she wouldn't even let him explain. Seriously,

holy crap. Oh, man. All right, Amy, what didn't

you like about this one? Uh, okay, misfit moments.

I can't believe that Pizzazz is really that naive

about Jetta. I mean, I know you need to have

it in there for that, but like, come on, Pizzazz,

you've heard lines before. And it's not her spiel.

She's given most of the lines before. Yeah. I

know it's not her shtick. It's not Pazaz's spiel.

That's Roxy's thing to call Jetta out on things.

But I was just like, really? She's saying that

she's with the Royals and you're like, oh wow.

Come on. I wouldn't believe that line if anybody

told me that one either. I was like, you'd have

to prove it. Oh, whatever. Anyhow, I thought

it was funny. He's like, Pazazz, she's breaking

windows and saying, daddy will pay for it. Really?

If this is the way that she's always been, you'd

think that Mr. G would have cut her off already.

So I was like, horse is in the house. I'm like,

come on, Pazazz, you're going way over the top

here. But also, and I think we've talked about

this before, Mr. Gabor, while he knows it's not

in his best interest to continuously indulge

his daughter, he does it so she'll stay out of

his hair. Pazazz's whole life is one giant double

-edged sword. True, very, very true. I just,

I thought the horses in the house was really

above the top. I mean, if the Misfits are always

like this, they have a really bad reputation

already. And people would be running from them

all the time. It's like, they didn't run up,

you know, hotel bills and they, you know, when

they go to really expensive hotels they'll be

you know expecting a big deposit beforehand so

that they know that they're actually be able

to cover the cost of having their hotels wrecked

every single time a misfit comes there so but

then but then if it if it's like anything like

today which kind of was they give the publicity

to that hotel because they trashed it so the

hotel gets all that yeah but that's bad publicity

though yeah but bad bad news sometimes is good

news Sometimes bad PR is good PR because you

get exposure So I don't know. It's just it's

just it's just those little things. I just I'm

poking at the little stuff. So Too bad. No, no

one told Lord Trevor just how destructive the

misfits are so They're not called the boo bears,

okay And then last, I had to put this on here

because this made me laugh, but I thought, Kimber,

you have no right. You have no right. Kimber

giving Craig the lecture is hilarious. Just like

hilarious. I about fell out of my chair on that

one. I was like, oh Kimber, you have no rights.

The pot calling the kettle black. It's just like,

oh my gosh, I had to put that in there. That

happens a lot of times in the next few episodes

here. Yeah, it does, doesn't it? That's me. Take

it away, Nicole. What were your misfit moments?

Yeah. Okay. Asha and her overacting skills. She's

taking them from Rio. Okay. Jumping to conclusions

where you really shouldn't be jumping. Okay.

That was horrible. And then I thought Craig was

kind of out of character after he was told, you

need to go after Asha. He's like, I'm not going

to do that. that to me felt like he was out of

it wasn't like his type of thing i'm like i don't

know about that but but he was hurt though that's

the thing he was hurt you know they were i don't

i don't i don't mean physically hurt even though

i'm sure that smack hurt i'm just saying so yeah

how many times have you ever been slapped by

a girl i've been there okay Wow. I've been slapped

before and stuff. Well, it's different when you're

a guy and you get slapped by your girl. Yeah,

that's true. That is true. But the one thing

I cannot forgive in this episode, those fake

British accents. Oh my god. Wait, wait, wait.

Which fake British accents? Also, the accents

of Jetta's parents. I'm like, oh my gosh, those

are horrible accents. I was just like, when they

first came out, I'm like, what? That's not a

British accent. That's horrible. It took me a

long, like halfway through the episode to get

paying attention to what they were actually saying

besides just listening to their accent. Like,

ah! It sounded like to me that they were like

talking to babies, like they had this different

little thing in their voice whenever they talked

with other people. So that was, I just kind of

went, at least they're not the main, they're

not there all the time. Like, Oh, I did not care

for it. It really threw me out of the episode

for a loop. And I'm like, Oh, okay. Okay. That's

like the only, that was like the big thing that

I had a problem with this episode was Axel. I'm

picky like that. I talked to British people.

I know what they sound like. They don't sound

like that. I agree. I agree. I Talk to British

people too, and they don't sound like that All

right, Amy, what are you gonna rate this one?

I rated this one a four point five because I

thought it was a fun episode and Christy did

a good job writing it I just had fun with it.

I mean despite the little things there was just

so much to just sit there and giggle at that

it was just I really enjoyed it, so... 4 .5.

What about you, Nicole? Hey, Katsu! Me and Amy

are on the same brainwave again. Besides the

accents, I really had no other problem with this

episode. Yeah, Aja is overacting, but she's been

in the past to react on stuff, so... Kimber more

than her, but still... She's your wife! Don't

ever talk to me again, slap! So yeah, I really

had a fun time Yeah, I know fun time, but I gotta

take a point away because I just don't I'm gonna

give it a four I just don't believe half point

that that no before oh you were gonna give it

a five No I'm gonna give it a four because I

had to take a point away because it just... It's

not plausible for me to believe that the misfits...

can even be over there without Eric because Eric

usually does everything for them whenever whenever

they get on a plane or whenever they get into

any kind of transportation he already has it

set up for them to do it I just like pizzazz

is not someone who does stuff on her own she

just isn't she has everybody do shit for her

picked up the phone and said daddy and he was

just like oh I don't care As long as you're out

of my hair, go. She just wants to go on a trip,

you know? I believe that Pzazz with all of her

money and just pick up and go wherever she wants.

She has a private jet, so that helps. Yeah, all

she has to do is just call up the pilot and say.

I wanna go here and he's been given orders by

Mr. G to take her wherever she wants as long

as she's out of my hair. Standing orders, right?

All right, we're gonna get to the next episode

after this. Wait, there are tons of sheet music

in here. Yes, their mother Jackie wrote hundreds

of songs. This looks vaguely familiar. It's Dad's

diary. I remember seeing it a few times when

I was younger. Where does it start? Does he mention

me? Oh, let's see. Here's an entry about Rio.

March 6th. Rio, the young boy whose family's

just moved next door, came by today. He has a

very keen mind. A natural technician. I've noticed

that Jericho's especially interested in him,

too. Only ten and interested in boys already.

Jerrica! I wanna play dolls! Jerrica! Jerrica!

Set the table for five, please. Rio's joining

us for supper. Yes! Okay, Mom! Jerrica's in love!

Jerrica's in love! How sweet. This is great stuff.

Read some more. Okay. June 30th. We've taken

in a foster girl, Aja Leath. She's 11, the same

as Jerrica. Welcome, Aja. Welcome to your new

home. Emmett will show you your room. Why is

she coming to live here? Jerrica, Kimber, come

here and sit down. I want to tell you a story.

Once I was a foster girl... and was shuttled

from place to place without having a home to

call my own, never able to share the love of

a real family. Now I have my own family, a nice

home, and a chance to help other homeless girls

feel loved. I hope in time you'll be able to

share your love too. Jackie has finally decided

to resume her musical career. So we've decided

to launch our own record company, Starlight Music.

I've also set up Starlight Foundation, and will

use the profits from Starlight Music to support

more of Jackie's foster girls. November 13th.

Our second foster girl, Shayna Elmsford, has

arrived. April 29th. Jerrica's still trying to

get Rio's attention, but she's not the tomboy

that Anja is. I wish she'd forget about her own

problems and help Shayna feel more welcome. June

6th. Jackie had a sold -out performance tonight

the audience loved her and it gave me the opportunity

to test my new equipment Rio is already showing

great talent for audio equipment the master tapes

are of the highest fidelity Master tapes what

master tapes? It's the first time I've heard

about them All right up next is out of the past

the air date was January 8th 1988. It was written

by Michael Charles Hill The holograms find Emmett

Benton's old diary. Reading it, they learn about

how they first met the origin of starlight music

and how synergy came into existence. They also

discover that Jackie Benton, Jerica and Kimber's

mother recorded a master tape of her concert

in the 1970s before dying in a plane crash. But

when Eric Raymond turns out to have the only

copy of the tape, he blackmails Jerica with it,

burning it in his fireplace. But Jerica and the

hologram decide to make a copy of the tape with

Synergy's help, of course. Dun dun dun. Featured

songs are First Love by Jim and the Holograms

and Starlight by Jackie Benton. This should have

been the series finale. No, I don't think it

should have been the series finale. Yeah. I don't

think. The series finale? The series finale.

Leaving their mother, leaving the mother up to

the very very last one. I'd be like I would feel

a little jipped. I think if there's going to

be a season finale, but not the series finale.

Because it's going back to the beginning. It's

going back to season one where they first found

synergy and had all these questions about her

and everything else. And this basically, even

though this does hit on their mother, It basically

reveals what their father's process was from

you know the time That their mother was alive

to the time she died and afterwards Yeah, so

I really do think this would make a good series

finale because let's face it the last episode

We have is not a series finale. It doesn't feel

like a series finale No, but I don't know if

I would want this as my ending. I think I would

I like it's not that I want to spoil the heck

out of the rest of the show, but I think the

idea of a wedding kind of wrapping up and then

not wrapping up seems to be a little bit better

of a show rapper to me than than this. I mean,

because I think the biggest thing is we don't

really get anything out of like, we we basically

find out the heart and soul of the show, I think.

with the heart and soul of, of, of who the holograms

are and why they are. And the fact that we, you

know, because we've, we've interviewed Christy

and she says that one of the things that she

wishes that she would have hit the Aja and Shayna

as being adopted sisters to Kimber and Jerrica

harder. I can really see it a lot in this, this,

this episode. And so I'm going back thinking

about, well, what, what were my reactions as

a kid? And I, this one kind of was a head scratcher

for me because I liked it. I liked the fact that

I found out about the mom. I liked how much the

mom kind of tied the whole show together, even

though she's not in it because of who she was

and how she was. It ties so much of, of who Jim

and the holograms are. everything that they're

motivated to do was because of Jackie. But that

being said, she's not part of it, but this is

like to me the beating heart of the show. Because

it really kind of does show the their background

motivations who they are really deep down Why

are they motivated to take care of the girls?

Why are they motivated to do this that and the

other? Why are they following their dreams the

way that they are? Why why why is Aja and Shayna

always there? You know now we really know We

really understand that I don't know if I'd want

that to be the end I think I'd want that to be

maybe a show opener or the season opener that

type of thing because then you then then you

really get the explanation of of how it is that

they are who they are and I like that But I don't

know if I'd like that as an end note All as I'm

saying is take it out of its placement right

now in between brit rock and hollywood jim and

put it after episode sixty five a father should

be because i'm sorry in season three a father

should be is not a good series finale i remember

this episode specifically and i haven't even

watched ahead i haven't even look at this episode

in probably 10 years or so now. But I remember

it because it has to do with Riot and his dad

helping Jim and the Holograms deal with finding

Bonnie's father. And I'm sorry, while the issue

of Bonnie's dad is a powerful issue and should

be explored, it's not a good series finale for

this show. And I just think that this, it gave

us all of the answers that we had been wanting

since day one. as far as how the holograms became

the holograms. Yeah. I don't know. I think it

gives a stronger case for being a closer, but

I don't think that it's really the right closer

for the show. I honestly think that this series

did not get any kind of good ending. Anyways,

but we'll get to that down the road. Well, considering

the fact that Father's Day, which is in this

season, is one of my favorite episodes of the

whole season. And knowing that that's kind of

the end note that they end on with Bonnie, I

was like, yeah, I guess I could kind of see a

little bit of a connection. But again, I didn't

feel as satisfied with that type of ending. And

we'll get into that, of course, when we get to

the end of season three. You know, I don't think

that seeing out of the past as an end, one would

give me the same payoff either, because it's

great, but it's all, this is something that I'd

expect on a season opener or a season closer,

but not a series closer. The series, I'd want

to have something that is going to actually bring

everything together like, I don't know. If I

had time to sit down and actually think about

it, I could probably come up with something and

I haven't. Sometime before the end of our reviewing

this, I will give it some thought and I will

try to come up with a good pitch for what I would

see as something that would be a good closer.

It's my homework. Yeah, it's your homework before

Nicole gives her thoughts on the plot I'm gonna

state this right now because this is all flashbacks.

There is to be no real bashing of in this episode

No, I cannot agree to that All right, what did

you think of the overall plot? Overall, I love

this episode. This is like like you guys said,

this is the episode we've been wanting for a

long time Because we never knew about where the

where Asha and Shayna came from you're like,

okay So where did they come from? Just popped

in and said hey, I need a job, you know But no

you get you get you can see where they come from

and there's so many emotions in this episode

It's just like this one was one of those episodes.

I felt like should have been a two -parter This

should have been the two -parter, not the next

one that we're talking about. Because I would

like to see more about Jackie and her band. Was

this the first time that we ever got her name

was in this episode? Yes. Okay, that's what I

thought too. Just I just wanted to know more

about her parents. I mean apparently there are

great people taking on all these kids and Doing

all this work. Yeah, I just fell in love with

her parents and it's just like oh, no horrible

But yeah, I really did enjoy this episode even

though Rio was major part of it He was adorable.

And we've got some grooving tunes there, man.

Sorry. Phone call. What can I say? Rio, you know.

Actually, you know what? I do not plan on bashing

Rio in this one. Thank you. Good. Except for

one part, but that's okay. You know, who you

should really bash is Jerrica considering what

she does to him or tries to do to him. Yeah.

Yeah. This is really all Jerrica's fault. Rio's

just an innocent bystander. Don't worry. In the

flashback, he is an innocent bystander, so you

cannot not allow me to say that because he is.

I'm not going to bash him this time around. I

have to say though in closing of this episode

I like the fact that mom and dad were mom and

dad to all of the holograms and I and I think

I like that I really kind of do like that is

that it wasn't just all about because in previous

stuff like the Father's Day we didn't get to

see that as much the Aja and Shayna how they

reacted to you know father because he was the

dad that they knew so i this if anything this

episode really illustrated that really well so

i really liked that yeah we are going to the

hologram moments after this the origins that

we've been waiting so long for them. I love how

we see where Ajah and Shayna came from, which

is interesting. And the whole foster thing even

goes back to the Bentons themselves. Because

I just thought - Mom, it was Jackie. Jackie was

a foster kid herself. Liked that I liked that

that she was that that kind of gave it real meaning

why she's motivated to Foster so many kids is

because she's been there. She knows what it feels

like I also wrote down we even get the origins

of synergy and this might be the best episode

of the entire series Oh When it came to when

it came to Eric I was like good she smacked him.

I wish she would have decked him What'd you like

about this one, Amy? Um, I liked all the cute

moments between the girls. Like you get to see

like Kimber being the little sister and Jerrica

being smitten by Rio and Aja the tomboy and Shayna

being shy. I like the I just liked that. I liked

that. That was just really good to see them as

little kids. It's like, oh, the pigtails, Kimber's

pigtails were adorable. Oh, she was so cute.

Oh, my God. What happened, man? What happened?

She couldn't have Rio. She couldn't have Rio.

Well, in a sense, you know, with Rio growing

up with her being around so much when they were

kids, it's like the brother she never had, because

they're all - No, no, no, no, no, because that

just makes it weird with Jerika and Jim, and

then they just get into really awkward situations.

And it's already awkward as well. But, I mean,

you know, because Kimber had never had any romantic

notions of Rio, you know. to her that would be

like a brother brother situation. Whereas Jeref

has always been smitten with him. He just happened

to be around. Oh, you're not that ancient, are

you? Yeah, exactly. Why isn't she saying that?

You shouldn't be. He likes you because you're

you're you're like a big sister. And she'd be

like, I don't want to be a sister. Oh, that'd

be a fun conversation, let me tell you. I like

the idea of the master tapes and the releasing

tapes on the tribute album type thing that, you

know, we're getting in the present where Jerika's

trying to get that to happen. I like the reaction.

I like the reaction when her mom says, well,

you know, just things, that's how things go.

And, you know, she's like, but I want Oh, okay,

the reaction I was going for. I like the reaction

that kid Jerika has, like when her mom says,

I have got to go, you know, this is my job, you

know, I'm a band, you know, I've got to pay attention

to my musical career. And she's like, I don't

want you to go. And she's like, because that's

such a typical kid response. I mean, it's sad

that ultimately that was the plane flight that

Jackie dies on, which is, you know, I mean, you've

heard the stories thousands of times. I mean,

there are lots of people that have different

things where you get mad at the wrong time and

you find out that that's the last time you get

to see them and it really sucks. But it just

made it so much more authentic, rather than be

like, oh, Bob, you're so perfect. I give you

hugs and kisses. There's never any bad moments

ever between us. Because it happens. You love

your kids, but you still, every once in a while,

have those moments with them, right? So I liked

that it gave it an off it gave it an emotional

authenticity And I've said this before on the

show and different on different episodes where

they've done that and I really really liked that

I had to put it out here, so I'm glad it was

like I like it that it's not Kimber doing it

yeah that it gives I like it that it gives the

depth and development for Jerrica because it's

not I think the only time to this point we've

ever really seen her get stressed out was the

gem when there was too many yeah yeah yeah that

one yeah one gem too many that was the only time

we really saw her get super stressed out so that's

what i loved about that scene was that true jerrica

having the issue not kimber yeah because she's

always making the the hard calls and like being

the adult you know which makes sense too because

she's the older sister and she's had more of

the responsibility on her shoulders because of

that. Maybe Kimber hasn't so much, which is also

the reason why Jerrica comes off as the mother

figure sometimes in the relationship between

those two is because of that. But you're right.

You get to see that she's not always been that

perfect little. Princess, you know She's she's

had her little selfish moments too because you

know kids have those moments So I also was kind

of glad because up until this point since we

haven't heard anything about Jackie and any of

her backstory I like the fact that it was She

died in a car crash or a plane crash rather than

she got sick and died because that's the other

overused one So go she just got this, you know

She died for whatever reason. I'm glad they didn't

keep that like, you know like that I'm glad that

they gave it something more like oh no, that

was a moment where Kids kid mom have a moment

and then she dies a plane crashes like that made

sense What about you Nicole, what do you like

about this one? I got a little list here, too.

Okay. I love knowing that Aja and Shayna are

now are considered sisters to Jerrica and Cameron.

I really like that. I like seeing the mix of

the families coming together and it works out.

I love it. I love it. I thought they did a great

work on making Jerrica's voice younger. It sounded

younger, but it did sound like the same character.

Oh, yeah. I like that. Yeah, I don't know if

that was the same voice actress or if they got

different actors. But they did spot -on. I real

like that really does sound like a younger Jericho

No, they just didn't put just another little

kids voice in there that they did a great job

with that Okay, the holograms of the other 80s

properties. Come on That was awesome. They had

you know, like the lion that could be under cats

or Voltron. They had the robots, of course transformers

And then I was like, darn it. We had like Teddy

Ruxpin, like that. And then they had like the

Silver Hawk. I'm like, that's awesome. Oh my

gosh. I loved it. I loved the holograms of those.

And I was surprised to see how loving synergy

is for a computer. I mean, at the very end when

she's talking to Jerika and like, oh. She's a

sweetheart. She needs to give lessons to Rio.

My last thing I have here is, Asha can't drive,

but she's amazing with other machines. I love

how she's like, oh, I could take this apart.

I'm like, cool. I like the fact that they let

her, I mean, you know, they put a little bit

of trust in that. That was a big risk, yeah,

because everything would be hinged on that, but

it just seems like Jerica's kind of obsessed

with getting these tapes. Yeah, but I one more

thing is I did like the fact that as a consequence

of Eric having been part of starlight music at

the beginning of the series is That's how he's

got the tapes. So it almost kind of feels very

full circle ish because Why that can't be the

only reason why No, it's not the only reason

why the entire episode is the only reason why

because of the history lesson that we get For

all of the holograms and Jim and Jerrika and

their parents of Jim Jerrika and Kimber and their

parents So you want to hear some more trivia

about this episode Yeah, ultra Magnus was a voice

in this episode ultra Magnus Ultramagnus and

Astrotrain. Jack Angel is uncredited as the voice

of Emmet Benton. because i was looking on here

under the episode on imdb i was trying to see

if there was a different voice actress for younger

jerrica it just lists samantha newark so she

must have done something with her voice she did

a great job that was yeah because she sounded

younger but she sounded like they're the same

character you really don't see that very often

Yeah, she was able to just kind of maybe she

pitched it a little bit differently and that's

the reason how she was able to do it I liked

it. She did a great job because it sounded like

just like her but just younger and I was like,

oh, that's kind of cool But the fact that Jack

Angel voiced Emmett I'm like going I love that

man Jack is so cool Alright, so hopefully there

are none since they weren't in the episode at

all, but let's see if we have any misfit moments

after this. For the misfit moments, I only have

two, but they're ones I've mentioned before.

At least one of them is. The other one is kind

of a realization that even as a child, Kimber

was a little brat. I thought she was adorable.

I love the pigtails. No, no, no. I'm talking

about her attitude towards the other girls. She's

like, why do they have to come live? It's so

something adult Kimber would say. At that age

you're thinking well now my parents have got

a shared love. I'm gonna get less love, you know,

I understand. Yeah Well, and she was the younger

of the of the girls like all of the other girls

were older So I bet it was harder for her to

relate to them But this is where my misfit moment

comes in is that they had a they had a little

girl called Lila Go I was like what happened

to Lila? I mean, you know granted sometimes foster

care sometimes you end up you know having some

kids come to live that don't end up staying ultimately

because of whatever reason in the courts and

whatever maybe she went back to her family but

i'm like that just made like oh i got a little

sad frown for that one i was like that's my only

misfit moment i i have that as mine too i'm like

what happened to her Yeah, because I was like,

oh, because then you saw that after she said

that, then they had one called Lila and they

gave her a name and everything and she looks

like she was like the same age as Kimber. And

I was like, oh, but then then you didn't hear

it as like there. She didn't stay. Oh, sad face.

The only other one I had was Eric, you ass. I

was really, I was really hoping that. He would

turn a page and I mean obviously it all worked

out in the end because as we know From reading

Emmett's diary that you know, he said he programmed

synergy with all of Jackie's recordings But I

was just really hoping that Eric has had a couple

of moments So at the entire series to this point

where he has done the right thing Yeah, and I

was really hoping this would have been a third

moment for him to do the right thing yet Nope.

Yes. Well, that being said, because I also put

that in here, I was like, oh, oh, because you

just want to reach through your computers or

your TV screen, grab his face and just punch

him a couple of times because he's such a sleaze.

And they say that a couple of times. It's like,

oh, goodness. And then I'm like, you know, he

deserves whatever he gets at this point. Whatever

pain he gets from the misfits he deserves. It's

all warranted after this episode. Right. But

that being said, it gives synergy this incredible

background and purpose that I don't think she

would have had any other way. The fact that we

know that she is kind of like the embodiment

of what Jackie was. Although he does point out

that he didn't want her to be exact, but synergy

is an influence of Jackie. She's kind of, you

know, she's that. And so the fact that all of

her files and everything had been saved into

the core of Synergy, it just gives an extra,

like, she's not just some thing that we created

for the show just to be a gimmick. She actually

has true and total meaning because of that. And

so I like that. I'm also sad at the fact that,

you know, Eric had a moment of like retribution.

He just yeah, so his character not that I don't

like him when we need to have a really good bad

guy But he's a really good bad guy because of

that You know, I mean I know the series is what

the series is I mean, it's 30 years old at this

point but I was really hoping with this backstory

that we would have gotten something to the point

of You know, we kind of got it to where Emmett

said, oh, well, I just hired this new guy and

he's a real go -getter and whatever else. I wish

we would have had something here, just a little

extra thing showing, you know, how much Eric's

loyalties shifted from working with, with Emmett

and, you know, trying to help. Emmett's companies

and grow his business whereas he's ready to help

himself. So I mean I don't even think his loyalty

is ever light laid with with Emmett to be honest

because You know, he's always out for himself.

I mean that that just seems like to me This was

just an opportunity for him to be out for himself

But I also kind of liked it, you know in superhero

shows where you find out like, you know The the

hero and the villain were like tied one way or

the other, you know, like Lex Luthor and, and,

and the big thing for smallville was Lex Luthor

and Clark Kent were best friends for years. You

know, I liked the fact that they have this where

Eric Raymond worked for, you know, helped out

like starlight music and blah, blah, blah. Yeah,

Jerrica Benton was like the daughter that was

helped, you know, that was also included in that

blah, blah, blah. It's like they both have their

beginnings in the same thing. And they just the

villain and the hero having their origin story

kind of tied together. I liked that. I liked

that. I mean, it was it's completely unique to

the show, obviously, because I mean, she doesn't

have superpowers. And, you know, Eric Raymond

isn't a super villain. It's just he's the bad

guy. And she's, you know, The main character

that we're all rooting for in a sense and that

the Misfits are just kind of like Stuffed between

a rock at a hard place between these two characters.

So What about you Nicole anything else you didn't

like about this one? Okay, I Pretty much the

same thing as you guys Eric is so brutal. Oh

my gosh when he threw those tapes to the fire

I'm like Didn't think he would do that. But then

what back in my mind is like, is this a copy?

He says it's the Masters But did he really do

it? It does he have him tucked away for his own

goods for some more, you know I just like to

think about I'm like, oh my gosh, that was so

horrible and then my other moment Jericho, you're

17 and you're hitting on a man. That's what a

few years older than you to get back at your

boyfriend. Just to make him jealous because he

went off to college. Really? I know. See, this

is my Rio moment. I actually felt sorry for him.

I know. Can you believe that? That's just like,

I was just like, so my Rio moment was, Jerika,

that's horrible. It's Jerika's fault. It's Jerika's

fault. And then she says that, she says, oh,

I've really given Rio a hard time, haven't I?

I'm like, oh my god. And then at the end she

tries to apologize to him for it and he completely

forgot all about it That's harsh. Jerrica, you're

17. You shouldn't be hitting a bit, you know,

that much older than you, especially that work

for your father. Where are you getting those

lessons from? Your sister? Because that's what

I'm thinking. It only took us 17 episodes, folks,

but Nicole has finally turned the page on Rio.

Yeah, that was what I was going to say. Does

this mean, from here on in, that you will be

a little bit more kinder to Rio now that you've

got this? No. I'd have to say I am. I'd be like,

aw, poor Rio. It's Jerrica's fault. She's screwed

with him. She's been screwed with him forever.

Little Rio was awesome. I really liked Little

Rio. I'm like, why couldn't you stay like this?

What happened? And you're like, oh, there, that

moment right there. All right, Amy, what are

you going to rate this one? I'm going to have

to say this is going to be the highest one I've

ever rated. It's a five for me. I can't get more

perfect than this. I mean, I know I don't, I

try not to give things fives, but this one really

deserves it. For the background of the group,

like I said, this episode is invaluable. It's

the most sentimental episode of the show. It's

the most emotionally investing episode since,

at least for me, since Father's Day, because

there were parts in here where I was like, I

was actually getting kind of choked up. I mean,

this to me is the heart of the series. So it's

the heart of, it's the one that hits everything.

We'll find out how everyone was brought together

and how Jackie had this lasting effect on these

characters And she hasn't even been on the show

until now. She's like she's She her influence

is there and so it's like oh, oh, it just got

me right there So yeah, it's a five. Yep. Yeah

What about you Nicole? I'm also ranking this

as a five again. This is my favorite series I

still like Shangri -La better because it had

Yetis in it. If this episode had Yetis in it,

awesome. We find out that Jackie's not dead.

She's living with the Yetis. Oh my god. Oh, come

on. No. No. That's a closer point. I so love

that. That's closer for you. We find out that

she's not dead. I was wondering when world was

gonna show up No, no, no don't even All right,

we are giving it five it's a five obviously No,

it's no no I I wrote down five as soon as I found

out about Asha and Shayna No, that'll never happen

to the next episode folks Alright folks, last

up today is Hollywood Gem, part one. And then

we'll get to part two later, but Hollywood Gem,

part one. The air date was January 11th, 1988.

Gem is nominated for the Best Actress Oscar,

while Kimber becomes involved in a wild love

triangle. Dun dun dun. At least she's narrowed

it down to a triangle. Yeah, that's true. It's

only a triangle. Featured songs are Hollywood

Gem, You already know and too close all by Jim

and the holograms because this entire episode,

the misfits don't ruin anything. They should

have. I would have enjoyed them interrupting

a certain ceremony that happens in this or the

buildup to or whatever. That would have been

fantastic. Don't you think? But the question

is. Which one of the misfits would have gone

after Jeff? Because if you think about it, you

have to think about it in... Jetta. No, wait,

she's British. No, Jeff's not British. Sean's

British. Yeah, Sean's British. Well, we already

know Pazazz has gone after Sean once before,

so it'd have to be Jeff. Nobroxie went after

Jeff before, remember? That's right. Because

the way it would have to play out is kind of

how it already plays out, but it would have to

play out where Roxy interrupts because she wants

to steal Jeff from from kimber At least it'd

make kimber's choice easier. Yeah At least it'd

make kimber's choice easier. All right, um That

wouldn't have been as much fun would it huh?

No It wouldn't have been much fun in part two

when you have the ceremony and you have you have

um Rio entering a, um, a love hexagon. Crazy,

crazy. Oh man. All right. Um, the plot, I like

it. I think it's interesting. Um, it's a good

rep for season two. I think so. It is. It is.

Uh, there's. She only the see the only thing

is like and I don't know I'm not looking up any

any information on this But I mean have actresses

that have just started Gotten as any actress

that just isn't film. Okay. I was gonna say because

She was nominated when she was young the gal

that Well, it was an Oscar but it was for Golden

Globes the gal that played Annie No, no, no.

I'm not talking about age -wise. I'm talking

about just start. Yeah, both of them start. That's

their first movies. Yeah. OK. The little girl

that plays the new Annie. Yeah. Oh, fantastic.

She's so cute. She was nominated for a Golden

Globe. I don't know. That's still good, though.

Yeah, it's still pretty good. I mean, I would

knock it. Yeah. Yeah, she's really having a hard

knock life, isn't she? Um, so Yeah, so Jim gets

nominated for best actress in A long line of

best actresses that includes a Sigourney Weaver

copycat. Oh my gosh Wasn't it earlier in the

in the season Sigourney Loomis? I'll have to

go back and check that because like, I was looking

at my notes and the, when we first are introduced

to that, it was like at the very early in the,

in the season. And I, I wrote down Sigourney

Loomis. So I would have to look at that again

and see because I thought I don't I don't remember

what her yeah I don't remember what what the

actual name was that they came up with I just

know it was Sigourney something I mean I have

obviously it's a it's a play on Sigourney Weaver

yeah yeah because I mean the the animation model

looks just like her almost In in her Ghostbusters

days. Yeah, and and then on top of that they

she's like nominated for an alien movie I was

like, yeah And the funny thing is as I'm watching

this whole thing is I'm watching the because

this was the Part one was where they had this

the harriet horn show, right? Yep This whole

thing reminds me of Naked Gun 2 with the whole

Academy Award. No, Naked Gun 3, I'm sorry. Naked

Gun 33 and 1 3rd. With the whole Academy Awards

thing and all these categories and all these

knockoff... Well, with Drebben and Jane, they

basically play copycats of Phil Donahue and Vanna

White. That's awesome. I don't remember that

one. Yeah. Um, also I wanted to put out there

real quick, just because this is a Roger Slifer

episode. Um, yeah. Yeah. Both of them are part

one and part two. Um, the checkout Slifer needs

you on Facebook. I know I've talked about it

earlier in the, in the season, but you know,

I just put a little plug in there real quick.

Go check up on that and see how he's doing. Yeah.

I was kind of surprised to see his name. I mean,

like, I mean, I, um, I'm not in a bad way or

anything like that. I just, I wasn't sure. Cause

I haven't looked at all at like every single,

well up till now I've looked at all the episodes,

but I haven't looked at anything in season three.

And he wrote, what did he write last resorts?

Was it the other one he wrote? Oh, he's re he's

written a couple of them actually. I think he

wrote one in the first season. I think he's written

two in this. I think he also wrote father's day.

Don't remember off the top of my head. Yeah,

I'll have to look it up real quick. Just, yeah.

What, Nicole, what were your thoughts on the

plot? I had a lot of fun with this one. I mean,

there's definitely two separate storylines going

on. But it made it work going back and forth.

Of course, your main focus is going to be on

Kimber, ironically. But I had a lot of fun with

it, even though the Misfits weren't in it. Boo.

Yeah, you can't. Yeah. The ones that they're

missing, it's like, oh, we need them back. I

like them when they're causing trouble, you know?

It's kind of their stick, you know? Something

happened when I actually am like, oh, Brio made

sense. Great. Oh, no. What's going on? No. Come

on now. Somebody's got to transfer that dunce

hat to somebody else now, right? Yeah, that's

true. He wasn't in a whole lot. I'll give him

that. No, I really had a lot of fun with the

two parter. Yeah. It looks like Slyford did a

few episodes in season three He did these the

final two in season two and then he's done a

couple in season one And he also did Father's

Day. I just checked. Okay. Yeah Amy thoughts

on the plot for Hollywood Gym part one. Um, like

I said, it's it's it This is a good episode.

I liked it It's great way to wrap up season two

with all the homaging they do with the acting

crossover It's funny cute the twists on people

that they pull Into this two part episode is

great. Um, and of course the Kimber drama drawing

on some threads that we haven't gone back until

now. I mean, the, the, the triangle has existed.

It's just been on a hold for a while. Yeah. Now

we're coming back to it and two marriage proposals

in one episode. Oh my gosh. You know, we've said

this before in the podcast. It's basically, you

know, Soap opera ish. Yeah, it is especially

this especially this two -parter the only thing

that's missing and I you know, I'm I'm not just

happy that it's missing because Deep down I just

can't stand the characters half the time because

they do so many stupid things It really is kind

of missing a misfit moment as far as them coming

in and screwing something up, but Kind of like

that. It doesn't have them because it gives us

a chance to see the hologram characters Without

like getting a break from dealing with the Misfits

because if you think about it, and I think we've

mentioned this before These people if you think

about it in a real -world scenario these people

are probably dealing with Eric Raymond and the

Misfits Every single day of their lives almost

yeah, you know I mean Eric and the Misfits are

not going to give them a break so yeah I really

did love this the first part of it was really

really well done I actually thought like when

I was watching it I thought it was Already into

the second part and I'm like wait. Why is this

episode still good? This is still part one. What

is going on here? It felt like it it felt like

it went on forever They put a lot of stuff into

it Anything else in the plot ladies Alright,

let's get to the hologram moments. I heard Amy

has a lot of notes. Oh be prepared people hologram

moments time so here we go season one kind of

started gem down the path of making a movie which

she made star bright and now season two ends

with her becoming Hollywood gem so it when did

this one I'm trying to think off top my head

when this one air oh wait I didn't I just say

it yeah this it took her three years That's true.

That's true. Very true. Um, Kimber and Sean engaged.

Nobody saw that coming. Not at all. And then

of course, the third wheel, Jeff comes in and

he does have a point. She does need to make up

her mind. Oh my gosh. I wanted to high five him.

Yep. And then the last thing I wrote down, I'll

let you guys go. like zing kimber just got to

rio because she basically you don't see kimber

and rio interact too much and because the whole

you know the whole rio thing is usually with

jam and jerrica and whatever else and he grew

up with kimber just as he grew up with jerrica

and it's kind of funny watching the two of them

go back and forth in each other's faces i kind

of dug it yeah yeah all right nicole what do

you got For me I only have a few because I know

that Seriously go all out because like I might

pick out things that you don't so Well, I I just

actually this is one of those those episodes.

I just caught myself watching First of all all

the Hollywood names The play on names was awesome.

Yeah. Sigourney Reaver. First of all, that's

awesome. They had her down. Everyone knows that

Sigourney Reaver. I loved it. Hot Tumming and

Formals. This needs to happen. I was just like,

come on in. Just root your dress. Well, maybe

there was a way that they made the dress so that

they knew ahead of time. I don't know. No, there's

no way. I love that Jeff had his way of thinking

because he did call out Kimber. And I really

like that. And it's just like. And Sean also

has his own point to like, hey, yeah, but that

goes to one of my misfit moments. Kimber really

jumped the gun a little bit there. But yeah,

those are those are my my three big moments.

I like I really like Jeff. I really want to go

hot tubbing in formals. Like I said, this is

one of those episodes I just really got involved

just watching like, Oh, I probably should write

something down. So I apologize. Hopefully AB

will have a lot more and I'll just jump in. I'm

going to hog the stage is what I'm going to end

up doing. Oh my gosh. Oh goodness. Take it away.

Okay. Well, I love the drama that cool trash

starts over gems honesty about not having any

formal acting. That was brilliant because it

was like, you know, the drama that was happening

between the two. And I, I know I'm jumping the

gun a little bit, but I like how in the end they

kind of wrap that thread up a little bit. So

it's not like left kind of hang in there. Like,

there's like this great big crap load of stuff

that's happening and, you know, making the, the,

the, the movie business, you know, look like,

wow, it's just full of drama. And I'm sure it

is. I'm sure it really is. But like, you know,

when now everything is said and done, sometimes

things like that do happen. And I, I appreciate

seeing adults that have overreacted, you know,

making their, you know, public humanness and

saying, Hey, you know, things that, like I said,

I'm jumping the gun with that, but like in, in

season or in the, in the net part, part two,

and when that comes back full circle, I like

that. So I love the fact that Sean is back. As

the, the max headroom homage. Oh yeah. That's

cool. That was brilliant. I mean, if, if, if

yeah, fan of the eighties, anybody's a fan of

the eighties, max headroom is like the. significant

part of the eighties, you know, it was, it was

kind of gimmicky and stuff like that, but Hey,

it's Max Hedrum and it was really fun. And I

love the fact that even in gem, he make, you

know, they have kind of a homage to that and

that it's Sean that's making that appearance.

I just loved it. So, um, Francois pulling the

work for me, stunt type thing that he did for

his own gains. Um, you know, and then being turned

down because, you know, Jim keeps her commitments

and he's like, oh, Hey, no, quit, quit, quit.

What are you doing? Come work for me. I'll make

you big and famous. And then she's like, no,

I'm not going to do that. Cause I'm already on

something right now. I could do it afterwards.

And he's like, no, you have to do it now. And

then the bull crap that he, the, that he goes

out, you know, to the news and starts reporting

stuff. And it's like, and the fact that, that

Rio, you know, how he reacts. And his reaction

was brilliant, of course. And I was like, finally,

we've got a Rio here that's like, don't mess

with him, man. I have to say, I really liked

how Rio stepped it up in this. It was good. It

was great conflict. Oh, I forgot. I was supposed

to be nice to Rio. Yeah. Oh, wait, wait. I, after

watching this episode, it's one of those things

where it's like, you have to think it's some

level he's got to know. And his subconscious,

the gem is really Jerrica. I don't know why it's

just like, it's just like, Oh, the drama. It's

like what I said when we interviewed Christie,

I'm like, I think it's a gay between Rio and

Jerrica because I think he knows. And I think

she knows that he knows. And it's just like this

little love game that they have. Yes, but at

the same time it's like you've got to think I

mean this episode especially I'm like he's got

to know and I know we talked with Christy and

she's like she kind of left that hanging and

I'm like going yeah, but there are so many instances

where you're like Anyhow I I had to put them

here unless we are ever gonna get a new updated

gem Cartoon series. I don't think doesn't matter

how many times I have Christie on any GCR in

podcast interview, whatever I don't think she's

ever gonna tell us if he actually does Well,

she did kind of say that he doesn't but I mean

I don't she said she's like I really like messing

with Rio Oh goodness. That interview was so awesome.

It was a blast. That was fun. Awesome. Yeah.

Oh goodness. Okay. So, um, Sean, the, the, the

part where, you know, Sean takes her up, you

know, to, you know, she's like, where are we

lovers lane? Come on. Are you that ditzy? Kimber?

You don't know that, you know, you go in someplace

special. It's lovers lane. Come on, man. Well,

there wasn't a giant heart shaped heart there.

So how could you know? Yeah, but the thing is,

is that at that point I was like, Kimber, if

you let, if you let Sean go this time, you are

crazy because he is so awesome. I like Sean.

He's just like, I like Jeff too. Don't get me

wrong. Jeff has a part, but like Sean is like

the romantic. Sean has the accent and he has

the accent. Yeah. It's like he's so smooth, you

know? Oh goodness. Okay. And you know, you get

this sense that he's kind of, he adores her.

Whereas Jeff, I don't know if he adores her or

if he just wants her as eye candy, you know,

the girl on his hip or whatever on his shoulder.

I think he does love her, but he's still at that

kind of immature kind of stage. Let's go have

fun. Yeah. Crazy stuff. Yeah. I mean, technically

Kimber is still there. She never left. But again,

and then the next thing I put on here, like the

fact that she finds a way to overreact because

afterwards she's like, Oh, you know, she's like,

she. Because like he's not ready to take that

next step in their relationship or whatever.

And she's like, she goes home crying. I was like,

really? You just had a wonderful night with a

friend of yours. I didn't get that part. That

was in one of my misfit moments. I'm like, wait,

but the fact that she goes in and Jericho is

like, what have you been doing? She's like, really?

Oh my gosh. I mean, it made sense for the situation.

Right. Because then she kind of goes back and

when they're the whole proposal thing and all

that and she's like, Oh, and it's like, you ditz.

Really? Oh, okay. So we've pretty much transitioned

into Misfit moments. Do you have any other positive

things to say about part one? Um, let's see here.

Well, let's see here. Oh, I love the end of the

episode where it says. uh, you killed him and

they're like, he's still breathing and gems like,

and it's, it's, she's acting, but it's like,

they, they show what happened. It's like Sean

and his reaction to what's going on with, um,

Kimber accepting the proposal. And they're like,

his body may still be alive, but his spirit is

dead. I was like, it puts the final life in the

coffin. I was like, Oh, that is so well done.

I loved that line. That was great. His body may

still be alive, but his spirit is dead. I got

to see this movie. All right, let's get to the

misfit moments after this. Time for the misfit

moments for Hollywood gem part one. Jeff just

came back into her life. Jeez, talk about moving

fast. Yeah. Seriously, they make it seem like

Jeff has been gone for six months, eight months.

They make it seem like what happened in the flashback

and out of the past where Rio was gone off to

college. That's what they make this set seem

like. Kind of almost. I mean, that's really what

they make it seem like. And yet he just came

back into her life and she's already ready to

marry him. Yeah. The speediness of the whole

thing. It's like, it almost proves that why these

two shouldn't be getting married. It's kind of

like that old song. Hey baby, let's go to Vegas.

That would have been an episode right there.

Having strange flashbacks to the 90 and John

Michael Montgomery is sold. Anyway, sorry. Bad

country music references. Man, Kimber is such

a brat. Oh my God. I wanted to strangle her.

Bridezilla. She turns into a Bridezilla. Go ahead,

Nicole. Oh, my misfit moments? Okay. Mm -hmm.

Okay, so Kimber is already thinking about engagements,

and she's with Sean, but she's dating other people.

I'm just like, um, hello? Let's see. Oh, Kimber,

Rio, giving Kimber dating advice? No. Yeah. No,

no. Oh, I did have this in my hologram moments

when Kimber puts Rio in his place saying, like,

you do with Jeb and Jerika. That was a brilliant

moment. I agree with that one. I did want a high

fiver right there. Yeah. Rio giving Kimber advice.

No. And my question is, OK, so Jeb did this big,

huge, elaborate movie. I kept going through,

how did they put Hollywood makeup on her? I don't,

I don't think they did. She came done up. Yeah.

She came already done up. That's what they've

done in the past where she's like, that was just

one of those moments. Like, I know it was totally,

I mean, it's totally a Kimber episode, but I

just thought about it. I'm like, wait. I need

to explain this. How did they do her makeup?

Yeah. Yeah, there's so many Kimber moments that

were just like facepalm. Like when she came back

crying after her date with Sean, I didn't, I

was like, oh, come on, you just had a lovely

date. Jerika treating Kimber as if she is still

16. I understand she's a, she's a sister and

she'll always be that way, but. Yeah, she's about

ready to get engaged. She should be old enough

to stay out till three. Plus, she's a rock star.

They're going to stay out anyway. These are the

only rock stars that go to bed at 10. I swear.

Or they're the only ones where the, you know,

the, the big sister waits up for the little sister

come home. And then she's like, how was it? I

mean, she doesn't ask about how the day is or

like, what's the juicy parts? Did he kiss you?

Do you like him? It's like, why are you coming

in so late? She's like, really come on sisters,

sisters sit down and they tell each, they tell

each other the dirt on stuff. I was like, Oh,

you know, cause like, Hey, mom's not here and

dad's not here. So like, let's talk. about the

juicy stuff, man. Where did he take you? What

place did you go to? Come on. Yeah, those were

my moments. Yeah. What about you, Amy? Oh yeah.

The Jericho meeting, the I kind of already putting

in that one in there, but like, um, I'm glad

that that that Kimber snapped at her for that.

Cause you know, Hey, but still at the same time,

you know, she has to put Jerrica in her place.

Cause she's not one of the starlight girls. Let's

just say, um, the only thing I didn't like about

the whole love triangle thing. that was going

on is like, we introduced the typical woman stereotype

where all she wants to do is be married. Have

you thought anything about that? You know, being

adult being married, you know, going, you know,

coming back and like working and doing the band

thing as well. I mean, or are you just like,

No, I just want to go off and be married and

then and they have the happily every afters like

really? Because like, you know, I don't know,

this is the typical woman stereotype that I thought.

Every woman is desperate to be married. And I'm

like, at where we have dance, where she's like,

you know, I blasted dance for not taking the

chance and the relationship because she doesn't

believe in whirlwind romances, you know, from

the red ass since what what an episode. It's

just it's just one extreme to the next. So it's

like, okay, yeah, let's let's look. I wouldn't

mind having a wedding. If it was like a character,

that's like, you know, let's let's cause little

young, young girls and some young boys are watching

this and you know, you want to pass a message

about whirlwind merlman says this, this episode

really kind of does that. Cause there's a lot

of world witness to it. Um, it's just one of

those things. I was like, You know, I'm probably

overthinking it just a little bit, but at the

same time, you know, the, the drama factor and

the, you know, the soap opera in this, there

kind of has to be a little bit of that world

witness to it. So anyhow, just, just thought

I'd point it out, you know, but anyhow, um, uh,

let's see here. Anything else? Yeah, I do have

another thing. I just want to, I kind of condensed

all that into what I just said. So I'm not going

to read every little bit of that I wrote. So,

okay. Oh, I thought it was interesting. I kind

of put in here that she's got to have that adult

conversation where it goes, what does she really

want? And who is the guy who was really the right

guy that fits what she really wants. And I would,

I, Rio, I guess they try to kind of put that

in there, but at the same time, I'm like, you

know, cause if you're going to, your life is

going to flash before your eyes in the next 24

hours, cause you're going to get married and

all that stuff. What do you really want? Are

you just going through the actions because you

want the attention? Cause that, yeah, that's

the immaturity of, of how the relationship kind

of goes, but. Yeah, but she you got to look at

this thing though You know you talk about marriage

and everything else and let's face it Rio as

You guys already put it. He's basically best

friend brother material kind of thing for Kimber

Yeah, and it's one of those things where she

can't talk to Jeff or Shawn no, you know you

know I mean So she's gonna bounce off somebody

and you know, Mrs. Bailey is nowhere to be found

as usual so Starlight girls Okay, so if mrs.

Bailey is at home with the starlight girls Then

why the hell didn't she bring then who how the

hell did the starlight girls get into part two

unless she drove them there I just I just picture

miss Bailey burying the bodies of the other starlight

Suddenly Jim takes on a whole horror film kind

of vibrate. Exactly. Oh dad, it could get dark,

man. It could basically turns it on its head.

It's don't tell mom the babysitter's dead. Don't

tell the babysitter's moms. It turns into an

American horror story. What was your final point

there? Okay, final point. I think Jerrica is

pushing her sister into marriage by treating

her young and overly mothering her. I mean, if

you think about it, like, hey. Yeah, because

let's face it, Kimber already had one rebellion

in season one. Of course, she's going to have

more as it goes along. Yeah, she had one earlier

this season too, where she left and her and Stormur

took off. So yeah, I was like, you know what,

Jerrica? Chill, girl. Be the big sister. Have

fun. Like I said, like I said before this all

started, you know what? You should be asking

her for the dirt and say, Hey, did you kiss?

I mean, where did he take you? Was it lovers

lane? You know, come on. yeah let's get let's

get a scoop oh god she said she said did you

kiss and all i can think of is heath ledger and

joseph gordon levitt and 10 things i hate about

you oh yeah we we kissed where'd she kiss you

in the car oh god all right we amy what do you

rate part one i rated it a four it was fun okay

yeah nickel Uh, let's see, I rated this one as

a four as well. Same here, four's all around,

so we're gonna get to part two after this. It

is time for Hollywood Gem Part 2. This is the

last episode of episode 17 of the podcast here.

The winner of the Best Actress Award is announced

and Kimber sorts out her love life. Finally,

sort of. Yay. Yeah, that's still questionable.

True. They call off the wedding. They don't get

married, but still she's not ready to commit.

The featured songs are tomorrow is my wedding

day happy ever happy ever after and a Hollywood

gem all by Jim and the holograms The one thing

I love about this episode because I actually

looked this up is the accuracy as far as the

60th Annual Academy Awards because those did

happen the 60th Awards it happened in 88 Nice.

Yep. That's nice. Absolutely awesome. It's like

a blast from the past Oh wait, it kind of is,

right? It's an 80s show, right? Pretty much.

What did you think of the plot for part two,

Amy? A wrap up of the wedding escapades. Yay!

And it's a really good point. Getting married

shouldn't be about getting away from family and

something that you prove or having some big party.

You know, the reasons are about the commitment,

not about the other fluff because it's distracting.

So well a lot of women that feel that way Yeah,

when people concentrate more on the wedding that

they do their marriage. They're in deep trouble

already Yeah, yeah, but I liked it cuz it just

it just I think I even as a kid kind of like

looked at this and You know kiss like it has

an underlying message to it Like, and I think

it's kind of good, like that they kind of come

out on being at least a little more realistic

about it and take a responsibility because like,

it's hard to say no, once you've committed to

something. Because like, you know, there's all

this pressure, and they've got all friends and

stuff like that. But I'm glad that they at least

showed, even in the kids show that they're, you

know, let's, let's, let's be a little more responsible

than this. even though there's a lot of irresponsibility.

They're rock stars. They've got tons of money.

But let's be I liked that that how things turned

out in this episode. This kind of like, it brought

a full circle. And you know, I liked it. You

know, and the I know he said this is pretty much

like a two -part soap opera episode, but I mean

as far as the plot goes Sean really went the

wrong direction when it came to his reaction

to what Kimber told him As far as Jeff being,

you know, that guy that she never knows what

he's going to do next and whatever else. And

then Sean goes out and tries to emulate that.

And well, guess what? Yeah. Sean ends up in the

hospital. It's a little reckless. It's a little

out of character for him. But then at the same

time, I believe it just because in terms of the

heart, sometimes guys react like that. Just saying.

If he, it just goes to show that his level of

care for, for Kimber and the fact that, like

I said last episode, I think he really adores

her and for her to accept a proposal of somebody

else. Kind of just got in his head. He's like,

ah, it's a moment of insanity and I could do

that too. Watch me. Yeah. for a second there

during that scene I could have sworn the giant

whatever the hell that was giant truck giant

tanker or whatever it was I thought it was gonna

crush the entire like I thought it was just gonna

roll right over the car and like I mean I understand

that it why it didn't because obviously they

had to they showed that he was pretty seriously

hurt but they couldn't just kill him I mean killing

Sean is tentamounts to then there would be a

funeral yeah i mean killing sean would be tentamount

to killing duke or killing killing optimus prime

or something like that it probably would get

the same reaction wouldn't get the same reaction

as it is you know you don't killing optimus prime

but you know it's just one of those things um

sean is optimus prime no well Oh, well, I guess

he's close. He does become a Prime eventually,

in a roundabout way. So, would that make Jeff

Ironhide? No, Jeff would be more like Bumblebee,

but anyway. But he can't be Bumblebee! He'd be

Cliffjumper. He'd be Cliffjumper. There you go.

Oh god. He does have a temper. Oh my god, that's

genius. All right. Nicole, any other thoughts

on part two's plot? No, I thought it was a really

good wrap up of both storylines. I like seeing

how Kimber actually grew up within the fraction

of the two parts. I really liked it. Anything

else from you, Amy? Yeah, that's true. She really

did kind of grow up in this episode. Like she

could have been really pouty and just stubborn

but like you know she did kind of have this grow

up moment so i kind of hope it sticks we'll see

in season three yeah so far is so good it's it's

more um the other group one of the other group

basically turning to a puddle but anyway uh we'll

get to that next time around all right so we're

gonna hit the hologram moments for hollywood

gym part two after this for the hologram moments

Rio is such a stand -up guy if you get a stand

for something it's better to do that than falling

for everything else that's true I already said

this but I'll say it again no Eric no misfits

finally Jim caught a break no award yeah true

no award but a star on the walk of fame is just

as good The thing is why did she that see that's

another question She got a Hollywood walk if

it was that for her music or is that for her

one role? Good question something we should have

asked Christy What do you got for hologram moments

Amy let's go with Nicole first Oh, sorry. Okay,

not a problem. Okay, for hologram moments, Sean

trying to impress Kimber. Hello? I would, you

know. Did someone say what I think you almost

just said? Liar. Both him and Jeff impressing

her. I'm like, where's the chivalry these days,

man? Come on. I want to be literally swept off

my feet. It was fun to see those two go at it

like that. Yeah, I really did enjoy, you know,

the competition of the two guys. It did get a

little out of hand when you about kill yourself,

but as a girl, you're just like, oh, he's willing

to die for me. It's all fun and games until somebody

gets hurt. I can't even get a guy to pick up

a check these days. Let it die for me. I also

enjoyed Kimber finally making sense at the end.

Like I said, she grew up in this episode where

she finally came to realize she just wanted to

get away from family. She just wanted to have

the big party. And she's like, I need to really

think this over. And I really, I really did appreciate

that. Those are my two big moments. I just really

had fun with this. Awesome. What about you, Amy?

Okay, I like the fact that Jerrica comes around,

you know, last episode was like, oh, come on,

she needs to stop mothering her. She finally

kind of does in this, although I'm like, yeah,

I kind of like I was a little unsure because

I wasn't quite sure she doesn't ever have a moment.

We don't ever see her go. Well, maybe, maybe

that I handled that badly or something like that.

We don't ever see a moment where she's kind of

those. Maybe she's right or something like that

after like. you know, Kimber like snaps at her

and says, and then maybe afterwards she like

to have a moment where like, Oh, maybe I shouldn't

be so hard on her. And, you know, but she comes

back and says, you know, Hey, I'll let you live

your life. And I'm glad that, that, you know,

you know, just let her make her own mistakes.

Cause she's going to have to learn from them.

Cause yeah, you have to, um, I like the Rio Kimber

conversation and the whole apologizing thing.

But I also like how things transpire between

Rio and Kimber because he assumed that she was

engaged to Sean. Now, when she says it's Jeff.

No, Jeff. And I thought, ah, see, even everybody

else assumes that you'd be with a Sean. Why are

you with Jeff? That's really telling. The fact

that Sean, he's like, Oh no, everything's fine.

Everything's fine. Everything's fine. It's like,

you know, I want you to be happy and secretly

he's fuming. And then he comes out with this

whole crazy stunt thing. It's just. Yeah. This

is also one of those episodes that really illustrates

why you wait when you have two dudes that you're

torn over. Yeah. Because like it's tearing them

up as well. And so it's like hard on everybody,

but. I like that they didn't forget about gem,

um, attending the ceremony, although she's not

one of the bridesmaids because in reality, the

holograms kind of grew up together and they're

like sisters. So it would make sense. Well, yeah,

but it's more so Jerrica and the holograms that,

you know, that grew up with Kim, you know, Kimber

more so than, I mean, Jim is the alter ego and

they didn't find Jim until there. you know adult

or they didn't i'm sorry they didn't find synergy

and jim was created until they were in adults

yeah so like it was nice to see that kimber wanted

the hologram of jim yeah there well and it's

still bringing it's still kind of you know it's

it's the it's the added fact that that as public

as i'm sure well it was private but you know,

there's gonna have pictures and stuff like that.

And the fact that they're still kind of keeping

that, you know, the, the whole story, you know,

they're, they're, they're keeping the whole illusion

that she's a real person up. And I liked that.

Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. Really works. You

know, we, we keep mentioning Sean and his whole

reaction. Quite frankly a potential suicide attempt

And all is I can think of is Freddie Prince jr.

And Julia styles in the 2000 film down to you

because when the characters in that when styles

his character cheats on Prince jr's character

he because he's lost her and they've drifted

apart and whatever else he attempts Suicide by

drinking a bottle of shampoo and that's all I

can think of when I see Sean Yeah, I know when

I see when I see Sean doing this in the race

car. I was like there's wow That's that's crazy.

That was his drink of shampoo. Hey That can't

taste good. Oh, okay. So I also love the the

Rio jumping in to propose on behalf of Sean at

the last minute That was so so bright. So up

soap opera ish, but Jericho's reaction That's

why I said earlier Rio is such a stand -up guy

because he stood up Actually, he ran in, but

yeah, but it was perfect. I loved that, especially

since they go straight to commercial and they

leave you hanging. Awesome. I really just forgot

about that. That was pretty awesome. That was

a good moment or okay. And then after that, of

course we go back to, of course, all of the thread

of what's been going on with the movie stuff.

And I love the fact that they, they, they invite

Francois and And was it Clint West? Flint Westwood

said, Jem, you want me to make his day? I was

like, I love I love all the Hollywood. That's

brilliant. I loved it. Oh, that was good. And

I like the fact that that through the whole thing,

like Jem has this incredibly reasonable and mature

attitude about it, even though they have like

the moaners that they invited. And I was like,

ah, bless you, Jem, for being the mature one

here. Oh, that was good. Um, I love all the Hollywood

outfits. I don't know. I liked them. I thought

they were interesting. I just wish, I don't know.

That's one thing. I don't really comment too

much on the fashion of this show, but like, I

really wish that they would have continued to

use the. The spark, not, I don't mean sparkly

as in Twilight vampire sparkly, but the laser

light show uniforms, misfits at the black uniform.

I wish that they would kind of go back to that

for some of the stuff. Yeah. Yeah. I also thought

it was funny. Here we are after the wedding is

canceled and Jeff is getting on double chick

action. I was like, Oh my gosh, that didn't take

long. Did it? And where is Craig by the way?

Shouldn't also be with Craig Yeah, but okay back

in in London Yeah, but see here's the thing like

they were I mean It's I'm trying to think how

to wear this there are some times where I've

seen it some weddings where You either have a

single girl who goes with you know two guys is

just to walk down the aisle or This is after

the wedding and all that this is after the wedding

has been canceled and all of that He was with

Ajay and Shayna. Yeah, he was like Jeff and Raya

Oh, he's with Aja and Rea, not Aja and Chyna.

Okay, well, yeah, where is Craig when you really

need him? I was like, dude, now you're going

after somebody else's chick. We forgot to ask

Christy Rea's age. Dammit! Because I'm sorry,

I still don't believe Rea is more than 17, 18

years old. I just, I think she's older. I just

don't have to ask her now. Yeah. Follow up questions.

Yeah. Okay. So I also put it in here. I love

this green Sigourney Reaver. They show all of

the different movie clips and stuff like that.

It was great. Um, uh, I loved all of the, I just,

I loved all those parts. So, um, when was Rio

cast in star bright? Cause like, That's the scene

that they show for gem. And like, she's kissing

on another guy is like, wait, wait, who wasn't

she talking about Sean, because he was the like

the, I get the sense like, when we were watching

this, that that the whole story plot was about,

you know, this gems character, like trying to

help out like this, this AI character, which

Sean's role was, but she's kissing on Rio. And

I was like, wait a second. Yeah. Rio was in star

bright because that was part of that thing back

then in season one, he was not supposed to be

in this movie. I don't even know what this nomination

because of the current film nomination for star.

Okay. All right. All right. That's why I was

a little confused. Wait a second. Rio was in

that movie too. It's like, wow. Talk about love

triangle. That's kind of complicated. Oh goodness.

Oh, and I also, like I mentioned in the first

episode where we talked about this, I liked the

public apology that was done after the other

lady won the award. And it just made sense. Cause

I liked that. I liked the fact that they kind

of come full circle with that. She's like, it's

a very gracious apology because it was a very

public outrage on the that. What was it? Yeah.

Yeah. So the Harriet horn show. Yeah. I just

liked that. And lastly, I liked the fact that

Jim still cried about losing the award in the

end. She's excused herself, goes to the bathroom

and starts - Yeah, I liked how they all were

in together. That was such a good moment because

like, you know, because she like the character

of Jerrica Jem has like, she's always been like

the strong woman. the strong character that's

like always taking care of everything. You never

see her like she she does break down at different

things. She gets angry. She's upset, but you

don't see her ever get sad and depressed. And

you know, she doesn't have those breakdown moments.

And the fact that she has that just gave the

a little bit more authenticity to the character.

And I liked that. So I that was good. And I liked

the fact that she got a star on the walk. So

Those were all good moments. What about the rest

of the holograms though? True, true. Maybe that's

the reason why she got the stars for Starbright.

There you go. Cause then that makes sense. One

really good show if you guys star for one movie.

Yeah, exactly. It was her first movie and maybe

it was, wasn't it under budget? Don't know that

many under budget ones that win that like that

did Nicole you you're you're more of a movie

buff than I am Have have under budget movies

been made like that. They've gotten major wars

like that Well, I know paranormal activity had

had some it only cost them what 20 ,000 to make

and yeah, I Mean it's out there, but they don't

I don't Try to think there's been some low budget

movies make awards well you've got to think it

if if this whole word thing is for star bright

you think that was howard sans is movie project

that was his deal after battle of the bands but

the problem was at the time eric still owned

fifty percent of everything and he was screwing

everything up in budget overruns and all this

and all that so i don't think it was that they

had a small budget I think it was the fact that

delays from the whole Eric thing and all the

costs that he racked up that probably put that

movie into production hell. Yeah. All right.

Are we done with hologram moments for this one?

Yeah, we're good. I believe so. Stick a knife

in it. All right. It's done. All right, let's

get to the misfit moments after this that'll

be done. It's getting a little dry It is time

for the misfit moments the only thing I have

and it I Know Kimber's concern for Shawn was

front and center, but how could she almost forget

she was getting married the next? They should

not be getting married If you can forget that

you're getting married tomorrow Wow, really maybe

you're getting married to the wrong, dude All

right, would you have other other misfit moments

Amy Um, Kimber moaning through the whole categories

thing. I was like, Kimber, everybody's hearing

you. And Jeff is the one that's like, you know,

calm and collected. You're like, ah, she's like,

ah, I was like, I want to see, I want to see

Sigourney and get up and kick her butt. Somebody

behind her takes their person, whacks her in

the head. There you go. Patience, girl. Patience.

It was like, you're in a public place. Stop.

It'd been great if Jem just takes her heel and

just kicks her really hard. That'd be awesome.

I'd pay to see that. Either that or Rio. No.

And then and then you know Kimber would be like

she would be the type of kid she would be type

of woman that if she got kicked like that she'd

like oh She'd make a bigger scene out of the

fact that she just got kicked Probably probably

I could see it Good times I love this episode

Would you have for misfit moments Nicole, okay,

so she was engaged and married almost In less

than a week. Did she attend BYU? Not joking.

They just threw a ring in it. There you go. Amy

knows. I want the ring. I want the ring. I want

the ring. All as I'm flashing to is friggin Beyonce

and that song If you want it put a ring on it

Like I mentioned this beginning they call these

two episodes Hollywood gem, but it was mostly

centered on Kimber. I don't Hollywood Kimber.

Yeah But I guess I just didn't care for the title

of it. I'm like, I understand there was that

separate storyline going on with Jim, but it

was mostly focused on Kimber. I don't get the

title. OK. Yeah, I know. Like I said, I'm really

stretching it. And I'm sorry, Sigourney should

have won the category. Not that old bogey. Yes,

but they wouldn't be able to come full circle

where she has to a pot where she So yeah But

it's nice to see a female action star actually

get nominated for best actress instead of yeah

depressing dramatic actress I'll give them kudos

to that. So yeah, those are my misfit moments

There wasn't a whole lot All right, Amy, what

are you gonna rate part two? Well, I really liked

up the wrap -up events the situation the characters

that were brought on in on this specific Episode

and even on this season. I'm glad that they they

wrapped that up So this is great episode for

that because now starting off with season 3 you

know it's like we've got a new group that we've

already gotten some these threads you know tied

up we've got so now we've got these threads tied

up yeah we can introduce like a complete new

kind of direction so i i i rated this one a four

just like it did the first one because i thought

it was great so All right. What about you, Nicole?

I did the same thing. It's a four. I think it

was a good two -parter. They both complemented

each other. And like I said, it was good to see

that Kimber grew up in this last episode. I really

liked it. So four. I'm going to give it a four

and a half. I have to take a half point off her

nearly forgetting that she was getting married

the next day. Well, that's just because she wasn't

ready to get married. That's why she didn't remember.

No, I know. But that's why I'm only taking a

half point off of it, though. So I'll give it

a 4 .5. Alright folks, that's going to do it

for season two. We'll be right back and then

we're going to have a discussion on our wrap

up favorite characters, favorite moments, favorite

episodes, least favorite characters, moments

By the power and honor of Grayskull, we all have

the power. Alright folks we are back and it is

time for favorite episodes I enjoy I really enjoy

out of this season the talent search two -parter

the bands break up k -gem trick or tech rat out

of the past and rock and roll express and obviously

Hollywood gem If I had to really say my number

one favorite episode out of the entire second

season it has to be out of the past Because of

all the all the history and the continuity and

finally we get answers to questions. We've been

asking since season one. Um, so those are the

episodes I liked. What about you, Amy? Uh, I

put two episodes in here because either one,

these are the ones that I rated really high as

I liked father's day and I liked out of the past

as well. Cause yeah, father's day. It was, it

was, it was a really brilliant episode. So I

really liked that one, but out of the past also

just sentimentally and all, all of the things

that you learn out of that episode, it was just

such an epic episode. So I have to agree with

you there. Yeah. Yeah. All right. What about

you, Nicole? Okay. I gotta agree with Amy father's

day and journey through time. That was awesome.

But. Nothing takes the cake like Journey to Shangri

-La. Because it's got yetis, dang it. Yetis.

No, no. Yeti takeover. No, no, avoid. I did have

the most fun with that episode. Yeah, the other

two were some great dramatic moments, great sentimental

moments, but Journey to Shangri -La was just

so much fun and I loved it and I just... I really

like that episode. Like I said, I think it's

probably my favorite movie we've watched. I'm

surprised your alter egos episode wasn't in your

list. I really do. It's, it's up there. She didn't

have a yeti in it. Come on. Oh Lord. And, and,

and their mom, Jericho, Jericho and Kimber's

mom are with the yetis just saying. Come on,

you know, that's a good theory. No, it's a good

theory My favorite character is for me. Obviously

Jim and Jerrica. She has a lot of good moments

She has a few good character growth moments in

this one um... i was ahead a few great moments

in the still enjoying her not enough driving

well and i guess this is the type of stuff i

got a license taken away uh... i really love

what they do with shana this season kind of growing

her little more at the same time there it's so

strange to me because and i know tabloids weren't

that big like they weren't as big as they are

nowadays back then but If Shayna is in this serious

relationship with Anthony the whole time You'd

think that they'd try to do something to expose

that or to Corrupt that or something like that

and they don't and I like that. I kind of wish

we saw a little bit more of Shayna and Anthony

together I'm still enjoying Stormer, you know,

she's She's stormy. Yeah, pretty much. Um, regardless

of what the women on the podcast think, I do

think Rio has grown as a character this season.

He better have. He's, he's, he's not as bad as

he was in episodes from season one. And that's

because the last episode kind of softens him

up a little bit. He actually kind of acts a little

bit more mature and he kind of steps up and you

know, I'm like, Yeah, I have to say I think I'm

I think my mind my mind is being changed about

Rio after I Will agree that he is matured I will

not agree that I like Nicole's good just gonna

go kicking and screaming all the way to the end

of this podcast Maybe by Like I said, I did give

him a couple of hologram moments. He's had some

good moments. He's had a few. And the final one,

he wasn't in this season enough, but how can

you? I just did. I just talked about Rio. No,

I wasn't talking. Drum roll. Finally, sadly,

he wasn't in this season as much as I thought

he was gonna be, but everybody loves TechRat.

Yep. Oh, I know. More TechRat. He's on my top

of favorite characters for this season because

he did some fun stuff. Oh, I love TechRat. He's

awesome. He's like my number one favorite. Don't

touch me! Don't touch that! He's like he's turning

into Ratchet. I needed that! Azaz, I needed that!

But Ratchet didn't have a robotic girlfriend.

I don't know, you can do a lot of things when

you're on synth energon. He did, which was like,

oh my gosh, I'm about to fell out of my chair

when he did that. I love that moment. That was

awesome. How's it humming? Taking over the podcast

with Transformers again. All right, Amy, who

are your favorite characters for season two?

Which one? Oh, okay. Yeah, sorry. I didn't hear

it because we were laughing. Okay, so tech rat

is my number one, but I also said we need to

have a return of a certain character that was

only in one episode and we had a drinking game

on that episode and we need him again. So more

frack. We need more. Come on, give us a frack

man. He needs a return. He needs to come back.

So there you go. Frack is never coming back.

I know. But it was so much fun. Just, just, yeah,

he was fun. So I put him on there as well. Memorable

moments. Frack. There you go. Is that all that's

on your list? Yeah. I mean, I, I agree with all

of the stuff that you've pointed out with all

of the other characters as well, but I wanted

to be like, Hey, I want to be different and,

and point out a few things that somebody else

hasn't already pointed out. So that's why I was

like tech rat. he needs a resounding second vote

that goes, yeah. And then of course, frax. So

there you go. What about you, Nicole? Favorite

characters for sure. But I would like to. My

gosh, I love that guy. Anytime he's on the scene,

you know, it's going to be fun. I would like

to see more of I just lost your name, Jetta.

No, I don't mind Jetta. But no, Jerrica and Kimber's

mom. Oh, Jackie. Jackie. I would like to see

more stories with her. Jackie and the Yetis.

Yeah. No. I was just going to say, and the Yetis.

They need more Yetis. No, it's true. I really

love that episode. The Yetis will take over this

podcast yet. Just like I said, any time you put

like a supernatural element into something. Yeah,

you've got my vote. Love it. But no, I would

really like to see more of Jackie's story. I

really liked that story. That was really good.

It was very tragic and pulled at the heartstrings

a little bit, but I really enjoyed seeing her

on the screen. She has her own rock band called

Jackie and the Reddies All right favorite moments

from season two The in for me, it's the entirety

of out of the past Everything the entire episode

is just brilliant Anytime the Misfits got what

was coming to them because they usually screw

stuff up for themselves. You said that the last

season, too. And the consequences. I like it

when they have consequences. Yeah, it's a continuing

trend. The only time I ever really feel sorry

and really enjoy scenes with Eric is when the

misfits mistreat him. After Out of the Past,

I have to say he deserves every little bit of

it, just saying. Yeah, but, you know. So, um,

what about you, Amy? Favorite moments from season

two? Um, I honestly, and I've already said this

before, but I have to say it again. Honestly,

I have to say, I love it that when they bring

in the real life people and they switch their

names a little bit. So they are some persona

of that person in the gem world, like Sigourney

Reaver and Flint Westwood, those sorts of names.

I love it when they do that. It's brilliant.

Anytime that they do stuff like that, I love

it. And yeah, that's just, that was good. So.

What about you Nicole favorite moments I I know

this could be a fangirl here I love the end of

Roxy rumbles when she is in the room by herself

and she's teaching yourself how to read I really

like that moment that was it was that's the moment

that I really fell in love with Roxy when I was

little I'm like I really love she has a tragic

story and she's trying to better herself and

I really like that and Yeah, you can see why

she has an attitude. She's a street kid I also

I liked the moments in Mardi Gras with the monkey.

I liked that the monkey was all behind us. That

was awesome. What? What's wrong with the monkey?

I really liked Mardi Gras. I really liked that

episode too. That was really fun. I liked the

moments where dance was always getting bombarded

by scenery. I don't know. So she has a whirlwind

romance with the scenery. Wow. Yeah. Oh, crap.

I just lost it because I wrote. But the song

that the starlight girl wrote back in. Yeah.

No, the girl. The one where she is the one again

alone again. Okay alone again. Yes, that's what

it was Yeah, I love the song that that one was

that that was one of those moments like oh wow

like that we might give it to that too so but

I really like that story as well because You

know, I really like that story like because you

you see you see how she became full circle as

well. Yeah All right let's get into the least

stuff least favorite characters for me is pretty

much even though she had one really good origin

episode it's still she I don't know. She still

gets on my nerves. Roxy is one of my least favorites

from season two. You're wrong. They didn't really

build her. Other than that one episode, they

didn't really build her character. And another

reason why, it's not more so that I don't like

her, it's more so that I don't like how she was

handled because they gave her this one episode.

And then after a while, Jetta's there and Jetta

has kind of pretty much taken over her... Basically

what Roxy used to do, which was the bad girl

attitude. She still has that but Jetta is pretty

much the voice of the bad girl attitude at this

point now that she's been introduced And of course

Eric after after out of the past Even though

some of the scenes with the misfits mistreating

him are comical. There's no way in hell Anyone

can feel any sympathy for Eric Raymond. Yeah

He's not my least favorite character though I

still like because I think that you need to have

a character that you just love to hate. It's

easy to love to hate him. Yeah. So who are your

least favorite? My least favorite has got to

be Anthony. Where is the man? It's like Shayna

is going to jump ship if she doesn't if he doesn't

stick around. She's got a busy life too, she's

in a rock band, she's behind closed. But like

when they have parties and stuff like that and

she's like, you know, not there or hanging out

with some other dude. It's like, you know what?

He can be standing in the background, you don't

have to, he doesn't, he could be window dressing,

you know, you don't have to build off too much.

Just like have him up here and have the man show

up at some of these parties because you know,

Anthony, really? Now that you say that, it makes

me think that Shana is a designing woman and

Anthony is Anthony from designing women. Wow.

So I had to say, I'm going to call him out, man.

I'm saying Anthony, you must get yourself to

these events or else she's going to go with Pierre

to say it. He's already stolen a kiss and she

didn't slap him to say it. What about you Nicole?

I think the absolute worst characters in this

whole season was the Secret Service Those guys

have no They have no right to be in the Secret

Service they they deserve to keep secrets, maybe

from a two -year -old, but that's about it. Oh

Man that whole episode Wow that was It was just

bad. That was a bad one. Didn't care for that

one. Those Secret Service men, they just made

it look so stupid. I agree there. I totally agree.

Do we have any least favorite moments, Nicole?

Like I said, the whole presidential dilemma.

Yeah, that was... Yeah. I'd say that whole episode

could just go... Bye -bye. See ya. Amy, any least

favorite moments? I don't have any. I went to

this category and I was like, actually, I was

pretty happy with most of everything that happened

in season two. It just felt so much more stronger

than season one. So I didn't put anything in

my least favorite moments, but I agree with the

presidential dilemma. That's why I put it in

my least favorite episode. for me it still has

to be anytime and this is actually gonna come

full circle next episode when we start season

3 because it just is but anytime pizzazz does

anything to screw up her own life like I understand

if you make a mistake and you know but like pizzazz

consistently Makes mistakes that screw up her

own life and screw up the rest of the Misfits

lives as a group and she still has no character

depth or development Since the first season I

mean I Get it. She's the character everyone's

supposed to love to hate as far as out of the

group You know out of the Misfits themselves,

but it's like it just There's no growth. There's

no depth, nothing to do with her and her father,

like resolving anything. I think in father's

day, they probably gave it a little bit more

depth because at least at least, at least in

this, this season they did, but we haven't, that

was true, but at least we've got an idea of why

she is the way that she is. And that was all

because of Mr. Gabor kind of revealing everything

about her in his own way. Has she changed since

then? No, she hasn't. And so I agree with that.

But at least we know why she is the way that

she is now. Yeah, and I mean I just want like

a little bit of change like she isn't so The

way she's been I'm not saying she has to change

completely because if she did then we wouldn't

have a show We wouldn't have the Misfits going

after Jim Mahal, but I mean some sort of character

development I don't just want an expo. I mean,

I'm glad we have the explanation, but I don't

just want that I want them to build upon that

yeah All right, so least favorite episodes for

me? Presidential Dilemma is an obvious one. I'll

let you get ladies talking about that in a moment,

but I didn't much care for Aztec Enchantment.

I didn't really care that much for Mardi Gras

and Middle of Nowhere. That was a little strange

episode, but Presidential Dilemma pretty much

takes the cake for least favorite for this season.

Amy. Uh, I will go with that. Cause I already

mentioned like, you know, the presidential dilemma,

but I also put this one in here because I rated

it really low as well as the fan. Oh, yes. Yeah.

Just, yeah. Yeah. Unfortunately, both of those

were written by the same person. Oops. Sorry.

I just didn't like it. They just, yeah, the fan,

the fan, the fan. Yeah. It was better when Leslie

Snipes was in it. What about you, Nicole? I'd

like to presidential dilemma. There's so many

things wrong with that. It's just, it's unacceptable.

Just not care for that one. I'm looking through

this list. That's the only one Aztec enchantment.

It was kind of ridiculous. I wanted to kill that

little kid. I'm like you Know take me to America

take me to America Yeah, that's just like no.

Yeah, I just can't do that. It's called kidnapping

kid Kidnapped me. I want to be kidnapped. I Would

say yeah, those two were the ones that I had

probably presidential dilemma Yeah, I'll never

rewatch that one probably again It's enough that

we've taken notes and talked about it, right?

Yeah. Yeah All right. So overall thoughts on

the second season Amy I love the fact and these

are highlights that I put out like like right

away when I knew we were gonna talk about season

2 as I love the fact that the bands each get

a fourth person. I love how that transpired.

That really, really worked. It was a highlight

for the season for me. And I really enjoyed it.

I liked that Kimber and Stormer did their own

meetup that, that, you know, cause we had been

talking about it all through season one that

we needed to happen. So it was good to see that.

I liked the father's day episode a lot. I can't

stress that enough how much I liked it. Um, but

I also, of course loved out of the, out of the

past, but there's just something about father's

day that just. just really stuck with me. So

I love the fact that they started to fill in

a lot of the past information about the characters

this season. They did that a lot. I mean, like,

you know, just just little bits or whatever,

even if they didn't do a whole lot, they just

started doing that this season. And so that really

I really enjoyed that. And I know the themed

episodes are great and fun. But for me. It's

all about finding out how the characters are

connected, their backgrounds and their interactions

that really make this show good for me. And season

two upped its game. So yeah, this is good. Overall

thoughts, it was a good season. Nicole? This

was an excellent season, I'd say. Yeah, it had

its little hiccups here and there. But pretty

much you saw each character from each band, you

saw more of a side to them. You got closer to

what their character was really like. Even Jetta

had her own little episode. She's the new kid

on the block, you know? And I really liked that.

I really liked how Kimber kind of progressed

there at the end as well, because I really found

her annoying in the first season. But there was

so many fun stories and so many adventures in

this. And of course, Yetis, you know. Yeti for

the win. Yetis for the win. Come on. Return the

Yetis. That already makes the season better than

last season because of that one element. Oh,

my God. That's the only thing missing in the

finale. No, no Yetis in the finale. Come on now.

No, I really liked how serious they took a lot

of the season. I mean, they dealt with, like

you said, possible suicide at that last episode.

They dealt with drug addiction. They dealt with

family issues and I just loved it. Yeah, they

did the literacy as well. They did so many good

things. I loved it. For me, I had written down

the second season as mostly a great improvement

as the story unfolds. There were several things

about it that were bad, but overall very much

enjoyed it all. You know, we've already spoken

about the character development, the character

depth, even though I wish there was a little

bit more in certain areas. But yeah, overall...

uh really really enjoyed the the second season

of gem and holograms now i want to flash everybody

back to episode eight of the podcast when we

did the season one recap we all rated season

one a four out of five so what are we rating

season two darn it i kind of wish that i rated

just a little bit So I can make this a little

bit higher because we haven't even gotten the

season three yet. And if I give it like higher

than, you know. Well, I'll go for it. I'll give

it a 4 .5. There's only a couple of hiccups there.

Like I said, take out Presidential Dilemma. Yeah.

Yeah. I could pretty much find really a lot of

goodness in a lot of the episodes. So I, it was,

it was a really good season. I mean, yeah, I've

really enjoyed it. I won't hold back. It's four

and a half. Yeah. Why not? All right. You convinced

me, Nicole. It's a four and a half. There it

goes. It had monkeys. It had yetis. It had family

drama. It had bad British accents. Two wedding

proposals. Yeah. I don't know where the funeral,

but, you know, hey. All that was missing is a

partridge in a pear tree. They had that at the

wedding. Oh, good Lord. For me, I don't know.

Some of the episodes that I don't like kind of

really bring it down for me, but I do agree on

everything we've said, that it is a vast improvement

upon season one. I am still going to give it

a four. just can't go any higher I you know there

are a lot of episodes I really do love there
