Synergy! I need you to project the podcasters

of the Geekcast Radio Network right now! Because

it's showtime, Synergy! Alright, let's get this

show on the road. Alright, Showtime Synergy,

I stole your lines! Hello and welcome to Showtime

Synergy, the gem review podcast here on the GeekCaster

Radio Network. I am Em and joining me are my

misfit girls Amy aka Lady Rek, hello. Hello!

And Nicole Hailstorm, hello. Bonjour! You said

it wrong though. Wow. You should have called

me walking death. Well, no people here this podcast

you'll be better and you'll be un pregnant and

all that other stuff so Well, yeah, but I don't

think that's a sickness mothers grow out of In

this episode we'll be giving you our thoughts

on the next three episodes of German the holograms

from season two In this batch of episode we have

a Halloween episode. So what are your Halloween

traditions Nicole? Me? Yeah, you. Oh, you came

to the right girl. Okay I love Halloween. I start

planning it months in advance Yeah, I usually

have Well, the past couple years, because I've

been so broken, I haven't really done a whole

lot, but I usually do like two or three costumes.

Two or three. Because there's not enough room

for just one. There isn't. There isn't. Oh, please

do not tell me you do it this way, where you

make one costume, you go to six houses, you go

home, you change costumes, you go to six houses.

I enjoy handing out candy. I love handing out

candy and scaring the kids. Because growing up,

I grew up in a small town and we were able to

make our house into the haunted house where the

kids could come. Because my dad has a thing.

He loves scaring people. He loves it more than

I do. And so he worked out the mine and he took

one of the horns from one of those big trucks.

and rigged it up to the doorbell. So when you

ring the doorbell, you just hear the thing. Yeah,

we build coffins and stuff. And so Halloween's

a huge thing for me. I love it. I love it. I

love it. I love it. Love it. What about you,

Amy? Best holiday. Well, sadly, I don't have

as awesome of a tail as Nicole does. Growing

up, my mom never liked Halloween because it was

usually the time of the year where people pulled

a lot of you know, nasty pranks and stuff like

that. And so she never really liked it. She never

forbid us for going out and going and trick or

treating and dressing up. So I mean, to her,

to her, I mean, that's to her credit, the fact

that she didn't like it, but she let us be kids.

And so I really enjoy Halloween. But sadly, now

that Now that I've had a couple of my own, I

must have like the worst location in the world

because in the years that we have been here,

we get like maybe a handful of people knocking

at our door. So I have candy every year and we

have gone through stages where we were like,

no, we're just going to hand out like glow sticks

or something this year because it's better on

your teeth, right? As long as you don't chew

it and it lasts for an evening you can enjoy

it, right? But we don't get as many kids in our

area the good thing about it is that Because

Phoenix is so usually warm during that time of

the year We kind of go out and hang out with

our neighbors like for the evening Um, so it's,

it's, it's kind of an odd little mix. Cause I,

I don't get a chance to really go out and, and

do a lot of, I still dress up. Cause I always

like dressing up. I mean, Hey man, it's Halloween.

It's kind of required. Whatever you want. Exactly.

And you can like, you can just mix stuff up.

You know, you could wear half this and half that

and no one cares. Anyhow, so we always take the

kids around they do go trick -or -treating I

like them to have an opportunity to do that this

year My oldest decided he'd not want to be anything

But last year he dressed up as as a Minecraft

character and they my husband and him built their

his costume And he loved it and he's just like,

oh I want to keep it forever and I was like,

maybe not forever But So we it's it's kind of

a hit or miss with me. I Every year it's slightly

different And then, um, it's not always perfect,

but we still have fun doing it. So, um, I, yeah,

Halloween is a fun time of the year. So I enjoy

scary movies too. So yeah. For me as a kid, it

was great. I think my three favorite costumes

were Skeletor, Donatello and Batman. Awesome.

My mom actually, um, at the time. She made me

Batman gloves and boots from the 89 film and

Basically, we bought a black sweatshirt and used

an iron -on for it and she actually made the

cowl Before that I was I had one of those fake

plastic masks and crappy capes like in 85 86

based off of the Adam West Batman Skeletor costume.

I can't remember like I'm trying to remember

what it was. I think it was just Again, I think

it was just one of those cheap costumes that

you know a mask and a cape like the Batman one

But I thought there was more involved with it

Donatello. It was easy, you know, we had it's

so funny that we have sites like um uh what is

it shark robot and and ripped apparel and all

this stuff now where they they have all these

geeky shirts and stuff like that i believe back

in the day they used to sell the turtle sweatshirts

or t -shirts that had like the front of the sweatshirt

would be the front of the turtle with whomever

whether it was leo or donnie or raf or mikey

and then the back of the t -shirt would be the

shell so again it's it's you know the cheapest

possible way you can get a Halloween costume.

But my mom actually made me a purple bandana

and whatever else. It was so awesome. Yeah, it

was so awesome. Nowadays, Halloween, it's like,

I can watch, you know, It's a Great Pumpkin Charlie

Brown and that's it. It's like, I prefer to just

lock the door, shut the lights off. Sorry, kids,

we already ate all the candy. You need to come

visit me. I will make you love Halloween. Right.

Honestly, I had a friend just this year. She

has hated Halloween for 27 years of her life.

Literally hated it. She hung out with me. Guess

what? She likes it now. You just have to hang

out with the right people for Halloween. I mean,

it really can be incredibly fun. Yeah. Yeah.

All right. See, I always dreamt of something

scary. You have to get oh, I should tell you

this little joke one time It's one time at Halloween

My friend and I dressed up really inappropriately

and we snuck into our teachers backyard and we

had the cops called on us. Oh my gosh Because

I guess he didn't like seeing the devil of the

Ku Klux Klan members Wow. I was not the KKK member.

I did not know my friend was going to do that.

I was like, oh my gosh. So were you the devil

then? I was the devil. Well, you know, personalities

come out when it costs to be. That's true. I

felt uncomfortable when she came out. I'm like,

you did not just do that. Reminds me of um. Oh

god, it reminds me of the water boy Adam Sandler

movie when everybody's like, you know, you got

to get inspired and the black guy who's the kicker

on the team gets inspired by the football looking

like a KKK member and he kicks it. God knows

how long, how far. It's just hilarious. Oh boy.

All right, let's get into today's episodes. First

up is Trick or TechRat. We'll be back after this.

trick or tech rat which was the heir date of

October 30th 1987 yay they planned it to be right

around Halloween that's awesome I like it when

they do things like that yep the holograms plan

to save an old opera house from being torn down

as they restore it for a special Halloween concert

the holograms encounter spooks and ghouls as

they go along I like this one it's interesting

The only plot problem I have with this is I don't

know how far in advance Like we see Eric at one

point and then we never see him until the end

of the episode. Yeah It doesn't like it doesn't

show to me like when he disappeared it's really

my only like Structural issue with the episode

is that it's like they didn't really tell they

just had the Misfits basically. Where's Eric?

He hasn't been around so that because they pointed

out you're like hmm, then you start thinking

about it and I kind of because the the the Vincent

character When Jim and the holograms first asked

permission to use the old upper house is wearing

the red Cumberbund. Yeah so That's my question

was Eric the guy the whole time and was the was

the original guy see That was one of my original

misfit moments I know we're not there yet, but

that was one of my original misfit moments when

I came to the plot was because Wait a second

if if he gave them permission to do the concert

then why you know 20 seconds 30 seconds later

Is he you know telling them to get out that you

know that just? And I mean, I understand it now

because it's because it was Eric, but I wish

they would have shown You know Eric and this

developer guy, you know going off somewhere to

do something like you know How hard would it

have been to say oh, you know misfits, you know

I have a plan and blah blah blah and then he

could just disappear and then reappear as as

the fake Vincent character I kind of liked it

to be honest because Really like a flip on that

it just you know to show a different opinion

I liked kind of having the surprise of where's

Eric and I going oh, yeah, where is he by the

way? Where did he go and then realizing at the

end? Oh guess what? He it's been him the whole

time. I just want to know how if he's such a

great actor why Why doesn't he go into acting

for himself? You know, because if he's that good,

they don't have to hire some flunky to do it.

He did it. You know, he did the Eric's afraid

of the spotlight. Really? That's why he always

he's kind of like the Scooby Doo character. He

always is dressed up somewhere or he's always

trying to flee something or he's always having

other people do his work for. So the featured

songs in this one are it's fun to be scared by

Jim and the holograms Don't look now the misfits

and then a reuse of we can change it by Jim and

the holograms I'm loving how they reuse the old

songs because they make it so different than

what we originally saw the song as it's yeah

Sure, it's the same song, but they completely

know like a different video that goes with it

Yeah, yeah, and I know we've talked about that

before Which is it's interesting What did you

think of the plot overall, Amy? Um, I really

like the Halloween feel of this episode just

because, you know, hey... Liked it when they

did that back in the day where they'd have a

Halloween kind of centric episode I don't know

if they do that so much nowadays I think maybe

when they do that they sometimes don't try to

plan it on Halloween and like you said this one

was actually kind of planned on Halloween I kind

of missed that about cartoons doing things like

that But that being said I like it when they

do like a you know, especially since we've had

so many other themed episodes This is the you

know, it just makes sense that they would do

a Halloween one as well. Um, I loved all the

costumes for all the characters. They were pretty

fun. I was like, Oh yeah, that was going to be

one of my hologram moments. My gosh. Yeah. I

just, I just loved it. Um, yeah. And then we've

also brought up the same thing about, you know,

we can change it and like the, the change to,

to the music video. So yeah. What about you,

Nicole? I liked it. It has pretty much all my

favorite elements in something, you know? They've

got cool costumes, they've got a creepy set,

which is awesome. Okay, I... Well, that's one

of my holograms on the solo wave for that, but...

Rio's still a douchebag, but... Oh, come on.

Okay, I will get onto Rio later. Okay, then.

For someone who hates him... you know yeah this

is a really fun one it was a good element because

i just terry terry you know a lot of kids are

scared of certain things and i i liked how they

The end they did come to a conclusion that you

don't have it's fun to be scared and a lot of

things are just your imagination Going off, you

know, I really like that. They spotlighted on

a different starlight girl as well Yeah Well,

it's kind of funny that you know Ashley's in

the spotlight for two of these here today that

we'll talk about I mean she wasn't so much in

the spotlight here, but it's nice to see them

actually using And I don't mean using as in using

them to do stuff, but it's nice to see that the

writers and showrunners are using the Starlight

Girls, not just leaving them at the mansion with

Mrs. Bailey and whoever else. For me, I dug it.

I thought it was interesting. The costumes were

great, as we've said. The overall plot was really

cool. Cuz it reminds me and I really I was hoping

this was gonna be the case But I don't think

it is it really and I know people are gonna kill

me for saying this it this episode reminds me

of the 13 ghosts of scooby -doo the only reason

why I say it is because The guy who is supposed

to be playing the Vincent character for a moment,

I know it's not him, but for a moment sounded

like Vincent Price to me. But I know it's not

Vincent Price. Yeah, they probably couldn't afford

that budget. But it's the implication sometimes

that all you need to do is imply enough and then

suddenly, oh, OK, it's supposed to be that character.

Yeah, absolutely. All right. We're into the hologram

moments after this. For a minute I was kind of

hoping and thinking that the Misfits wouldn't

even be in this episode and then they show up

Yeah, but it's kind of good that they did because

I think they were a good distraction so that

we didn't like catch on to what was going on

with tech rat and You know the the other two

people that were with him I kind of liked the

fact that they were like, hey, you know, we're

gonna it's it's the Misfit predictable moments

where they're like, you guys are going to put

on a concert, so we're going to make a concert

too. And we're going to out do you guys. And

then it ends terrible at the end for them. I

mean, I mean, I will, I will say out of all the

plots that the misfits try to, you know, destroy

for Jim and the holograms, I like the ones better

where they try to rival them instead of destroy,

like instead of ruining their reputations, they

try to one up them. So I do like those a lot

more than the Misfits coming in and just destroying

everything Surprisingly, I really dig the Halloween

songs in this they're pretty cool. Even the Misfit

one was was pretty interesting Let's see what

else so there's a point when Terry goes missing

and Jim goes to chase her now I find this hilarious

because it reminds me of Morticia from The Addams

Family. Dem goes chasing after Terry in the beginning.

It looks like when she is in her witch costume

that she is floating. And I believe, and people

can correct me if I'm wrong on this, I believe

Morticia also does float because I think she

has nothing but tentacles. I don't think she

has real legs. Morticia? Yeah, I could be wrong

about that though. Because I used to I I've seen

her float in several different things But I just

thought it was interesting and kind of funny

that they made Jim float. I'm like wait Why is

she floating as she's running down this hallway?

I'll give the writers credit, you know, I'll

give the writing the episode props for the misdirection

But it seemed like it came out of nowhere like

I was saying earlier Amy what about you? I like

the scary movie moments. They were great. I thought

they did a good job with those. I like the message

of, and this is something Nicole just brought

up just before we, you know, in the last little

bit, the message of it's fun to be scared, because

it makes sense that some of their audience, you

know, would be just like that starlight girl

and be like, I don't like being scared. And they

made it kind of fun, you know, because every

kid is a little bit different. And it just I

liked the fact that they kind of gave that a

little bit of a voice for a kids show. So I mean,

going going back, of course, I see it now. No,

I'm really kind of glad they put that in there.

But it just it just it just worked for me. I

like the fact that we finally see some advertising

that we've hoped has been going on because they

say the Misfits find out about the holograms

and the gem of the holograms thing doing what

they're doing because it's in the newspaper.

And I thought, oh, I like that. I'm glad they

put that in there. I like that for once the Misfits

actually had nothing to do with the Opera House

issues. They were getting scared just as much

as anybody else was so I'm sure Raymond and tech

rat were having a real fun time doing that But

in addition to that they're also learning they're

learning that hey we don't have to involve the

misfits in this every single time they usually

screw stuff up so let's do it on our own this

time so they're learning i also like the fact

that um that they took the guys away at the end

and granted it was just the like inspector doing

that but would have been a little bit more of

a pop if the police had been involved But I was

still a cool about that. So, um, those are, there's

a lot to like about this, but those are the kinds

of things that I've wanted to really point out

for sure. The hologram moments. The interesting

thing about tech rat this, this episode is that,

um, he does still get his one liner moment, but

it has nothing to do with pizzazz. He's like,

don't touch my stuff. What about you Nicole would

you like about this one actually talking about

tech rat that's one of my favorite things I liked

how in the beginning he was pressing his machine

like it was his girlfriend I like the big yellow

taxi song reference that I don't know if you

guys caught on to that. I didn't even catch that.

Because they're talking about tearing it down

and building a parking lot. Oh, awesome, awesome.

I was just like, I slow clack at that. I'm like,

oh, awesome. Of course, again, it's a car and

Aj is involved. I tell you, that's her call sign.

I loved the the design of when they first walked

in to the opera house how creepy it was with

the cobwebs and stuff It was a different kind

of almost like a different kind of animation

and I loved it. It was really cool Of course

we talked about I loved all the Halloween costumes

Awesome. This is awesome both for the Misfits

and for Jim and the holograms tech rat really

needs to work on his though. Come on Tech Rat

is the Charlie Brown of this episode. If you

really look at him, he's the Charlie Brown of

this episode because you don't even see him.

You just hear his voice. So that might not even

be Tech Rat. Honestly, it might not be. It just

might be some stranger under a sheet because

all we hear is his voice and he has that one

eye hole. It's just so silly. And then I absolutely

love the black and the black design with the

slight white outlines in the video don't look

now. I really thought that was creepy cool. I'm

like, that's cool. So there you go. You're talking

about the silhouette when they first started,

right? Yeah. Yeah. That was awesome. That was

really cool. It was like, oh, and you could just

see like their eyes. I'm like, I like that a

lot. So those were my hologram moments. All right.

Well, let's get to the Misfit moments if there

are any after this. for misfit moments now I

know Nicole's gonna jump on her real horse here

in a moment but Rio is the band sometimes well

well Jerrica is the band's business manager Rio

is the guy that really puts everything together

for them he is their roadie he is their stage

manager almost So it makes sense to me even in

the middle of the night that he would be looking

for a gem for something about the band. But Jerrica,

she looks so dejected that Ria was here for her

other half than her. Doesn't she? Doesn't she

remember? Doesn't she remember that he works

for them as well? He's not just her boyfriend.

Yeah. Of course you wouldn't. Speaking of Rio,

how the hell is someone like Rio in the local

historical preservation society more? Yeah, that

was kind of odd He seems to become he seems to

be becoming the jack -of -all -trades Like he's

the go -to thing for everything that they They

don't know about? Mm -hmm. Are you thinking that

Ryo's living a double life just like Jem and

Jerika? He secretly knows about him, and he's

pulling a double - Wow. Okay, if that was the

truth, I might like the guy. And then my final

one was, and this is the one I was talking about

earlier, I actually wrote down, why is Mr. Vincent

threatening them to leave? And then I added as

the episode went on, oh right, that's because

it was Eric the whole time. uh... that's not

really it's more of a nitpick on my part is a

obviously i wrote the note down before i got

all the information but it's still one of those

things where i was expecting them not to have

that to pay off uh... but that then again this

is jim holograms it's one of the best written

eighties cartoons that we've ever had Of course

they're paying off. What about you, Amy? What

didn't you like about this one? Well, I too also

thought the whole Rio asking for Jim and not

Jerrica was a boo. Thumbs down. Okay, so this

time around when I watched these episodes to

prepare for this podcast, I knew I wasn't going

to be around a Netflix connection, so I found

a way to get a hold of the episode, and it just

happened that they had the little the little

spacers in between where they take the breaks

for all the commercials. And I didn't realize

this because like when I watch it on Netflix,

they don't have those in there. No, they don't

have the bumpers. Yeah. So so the bumpers were

in it. And I thought, wait a minute, I'm not

seeing these bumpers when I'm watching Netflix.

But but almost every single bumper had Jim and

Rio together. And so I thought now that kind

of puts a different spin. on the characters a

little bit because here we are we're trying you

know like i've been going through this season

you know going through this this time watching

it just seeing it the way that i see it but you

know and and you know commenting on the fact

that you know they first said there's jerrica

then it's rio then it's jerrica then then it's

gem and i'm like okay that kind of puts a little

bit different spin on it. Cause I thought, okay,

this is the first time I've seen a bumper since

I was a little kid. Cause I usually, I just watched

all of them on Netflix, but I thought, you know,

that kind of puts a little bit of a different

spin on it because now that I'm seeing Rio and

Jim on these bumpers, I'm going, wait, wait,

wait, wait. It's almost implying that they're

supposed to be together, that they're supposed

to be an item. And so my little kid mind went

back to, I was like, oh, that's right. You know,

I remember seeing that when I was a kid and going,

wait a sec. it's just but it's not what it is

anyhow so it's kind of confusing because it's

like okay well now I see why but then at the

same time now Jericho's reaction seems kind of

odd so I was just like okay this is really like

I have conflicted my brain I can't do it so yeah

It's confusing for us adults. Can you imagine

what it was like when we were children? I think

we just went for the easiest thing that made

sense, which was Gem and Rio should be together.

Yeah. Yeah, probably. Anyhow. Yeah, Rio. I mean,

this is always going to be a thing on this show.

We're always going to bash this guy for this.

That's true. But I almost kind of got a little

angry when I was seeing the bumper for the first

time going, ah! You know, like, why are they

doing that to Jerrica? Jeff, you're so evil.

See, I knew about the Bumpers because I have

the DVD set. So in the DVD set, they are shown

like that. They are shown like the actual show

on Netflix. They don't do that for some. The

Netflix stuff is weird because sometimes. They

show a video replay, sometimes they don't. And

some of the episodes, I would have to go back

and watch them all on the DVD sets and find out

if they do or don't, but sometimes they are there,

sometimes they aren't there, but obviously on

Netflix, the bumpers aren't there. I'm kind of

glad on Netflix that they aren't because it...

For me, once I've seen a bumper and I remember

what it is, it's like, Oh, okay, that's cool.

I don't need to see that again. Yeah, you see

it once or twice. And, and all of a sudden it

just turns into, you know, like, you know, when

you're reading a book and you see the, the little

words, it just kind of blends into the background.

You're like, okay, we're doing this again, blah,

blah, blah. You know, it just, yeah, I see what

you mean. so um but yeah the bumpers were always

weird because uh one of the bumpers is it's just

synergy yeah i'll have to take a screen cap for

you but it's um it's just synergy on it uh another

one is jerrica turning into jim and then her

and rio on a bridge and and some other stuff

but uh But yeah, I mean, you know, the bumpers

probably really confuse the hell out of people.

Well, if anything, they just continue to imply

that there's more going on between these two

than there really is. But you notice every time

he's with Jim, any time that he goes to make

a move on her, he only kisses her cheek. So that's

at least one point in his favor. Unless you're

in a music video. Well, okay in the music videos

he's full -on kissing her. I'm just saying. Yeah,

that's fictional. That's that's you know The

opening part, okay, I thought the late night

opera house run was you know kind of odd, you

know Just leave the starlight girls alone. No

adults after you know, they're they just watched

a scary movie and one of the kids is like I'm

scared and they leave them I was like, oh my

gosh There was an animation error Exactly, especially

with all of the other girls are like get over

it. You're such a baby blah blah blah Then there

was an animation error when they were driving

in the van Rio's hand is Like way oversized as

he's like, you know using his hands to talk and

it was kind of just weird I was like, whoa, that

is way oversized hand there I was actually surprised

that Lindsay doesn't just cut the broadcast whenever

the misfits appear on the scene, just because.

She can't. It'd be great if she could. It's bad

publicity, and that's still good publicity, you

know? True, true. Negative publicity is still

good publicity. I'm not sure if dance has the

worst luck or the best luck Because you know,

she's always getting in accidents and she's the

dancer just saying I think it would benefit gem

and her band to have security out the Opera House,

you know Yeah, because it would definitely make

sure the Misfits don't linger longer, you know

than they need to It caused trouble like they

have in the past But at the same time it would

also stop the rest of the thugs from doing what

they do to stop them from having the concert

as well. So Yeah but we'll see maybe they'll

learn from this experience and they'll have you

know security at the next event probably not

well we'll see later in in this podcast that

gem having security doesn't always work out very

well that's that's all of my misfit moments Alright,

what about you, Nicole? Oh, I also have, uh,

here. What's with all the set designs trying

to kill dance? Really? This is the second time,

you know? Someone really needs to attack those

things down. The last time it actually fell on

her, so it kudos that it didn't hit her this

time, but still. She's like, oh my gosh. The

set designs are always after her. And then the

only other thing I have is, Jem is talking about

synergy right in front of Terry. Literally, she

says it out loud. She's like way to go synergy

and Terry's like right next to her again Are

the girls in on it? No Because that would be

more liability Yes, you know not all of them

have been on there the law, you know you take

Chrissy Bonnie uh... ashley's these guys with

squeal so fast no no i know but what i'm saying

is you take them you take the ones we've seen

the longest you take chrissy bonnie ashley uh...

deardra you take all the ones we've seen since

season one maybe they wouldn't but introducing

someone new like terry or like the girl that

we saw in alone again i forgot what her name

was off the top of my head you know it's like

there's just no way that the starlight girls

could I'll keep that secret. We'll find out later

in later episodes that we start squealing about

some things too, so. Oh boy. Those are my moments.

All right, what are we gonna give this one, Amy?

I like the fact that they did a few new stuff.

you know, the fact that, you know, Raymond and

TechRat are kind of learning and they're, you

know, doing new things. I kind of liked some

of the things I did here. So I rated this one

a four. All right. What about you, Nicole? I

thought this was one of the funner ones. I really

liked it even though Ria was in it. I actually

gave this a 4 .5 because I really enjoyed it.

Because it's got TechRat. Okay. It dropped it

down. Because Rio was in it, but it came back

up because TechRat did it. It bounced it out.

They neutralized one another. I want to hear

Charlie Adler as TechRat say, alls I got was

a rock. I gave this one a four as well. It's

got so much going for it, more so than what is

not. uh going forward as well um you know rio

being a member of the historical preservation

society i i guess i mean hell if um if chandler

young's wife can be one i guess rio can be one

so let's move on because we have a presidential

dilemma after this folks, it's time for the Presidential

Dilemma slash Debate. The episode is called the

Presidential Dilemma, but I can tell right now

the three of us are not going to agree on whether

this episode is better or bad. Two out of three

of us, you mean? Marauding a marauding thief

is taking all of the American national treasures

Meanwhile synergy is apprehended by the government

and it's up to Jerrica to save her and stop the

marauder dun dun dun the featured songs are star

-spangled fantasy by the Misfits time is running

out by Gem of the Holograms and freedom by Gem

of the Holograms Was time is running out is that

a reuse? Is it? Okay They used it in oh my gosh,

it was a Kimber episode. Oh That's right. That's

right. Yeah, and you said that this was published

like in November Says November 2nd 87. Oh, so

here again another good timer where we timed

it just before voting, you know, like That is

part of my All right. Thoughts on the plot, Amy?

I like the idea of the president knowing the

synergy secret. I do like that. I will give it

that. And I like the idea of having some sort

of adventure that involves, you know, the president

of the United States being saved by Gemma Jerica

or whatever. But this was just a pass for me.

It had too many things that just didn't work.

It was a fun idea, but not well executed. I was

waiting for Ben Gates to show up, honestly. I

know that's, you know, X number of years in the

future that that happens, but yeah. What about

you, Nicole? I'm with Amy. The idea, you know,

of them having to like take synergy apart because

of some technical issues and stuff. I like that

part. The whole marauder, the whole security,

oh. It just didn't work. It breaks your brain.

You're just like, oh, come on. I have better

security on my front door. And it's just like...

uh yeah there's so many things that went wrong

with this episode oh my gosh you have better

security at your house because you get it you

have animals that actually can nuke and taser

people they're not too friendly with strangers

here i have my individual weapons that come with

sharp teeth all i have to do is just stick the

reckless on them i mean geez even i had better

security i know it's just like um Okay, or just

throw that snake at them Just come to the door

with the snake wrapped around your neck and they'll

be like whoa Yeah, do you want to touch? I'm

using psychological what I know of the two biggest

fears in in in most of society first spiders

second snakes It just starts off wrong you're

just like Secret service wouldn't come to and

give them an invitation and it would not just

ask for gem. They probably asked for their manager

or something You're already I can tell that we're

gonna have almost exactly the same I'm like if

they know Jim in the holograms, they know Kimber

their secret service they can edit her the invitation

Well, maybe not. They're like, are you on the

date? Because we know things are wrong. Oh, damn.

Get your sister here, please. Oh, but they didn't

ask for her sister. They asked for Jim. They

asked for Jim, yeah. you know I kind of like

this one the whole thing was synergy why they

had to take her apart in the first place was

because at the in Washington DC Jim turned back

into Jericho because of the security because

they were blocking signals and they blocked the

earring signals so that's why everyone had to

pack synergy up and take her to Washington That's

what they should have called it I agree The whole

Marauder thing was it was a little strange it

was This is one time I kind of wish it tied into

whatever Eric and the Misfits were doing I Don't

know why I wanted that but and they don't even

Bad ratings for me then because think about it

Eric Raymond would get away with what? Kidnapping

the president as as he's gotten away with all

of the other legal issues that he's had He would

end up kidnapping the president and walk away

from that. I'd be like, I'm sorry that would

just break the show Had to have some other person

the Marauder idea was that it was it was needed

to get the president in a situation where he'd

need to be saved Yeah, so that being said I'm

like I Just wish that there was I Just wish we

found out who the Marauder actually was I mean,

he's not really he is but he isn't a throwaway

character, but it's like I'm saying like I wish

the writers would have given us a reason to Fight

figure out why he wanted to do all of this Why

you wanted this right? I understand that but

I'm saying like I wish they would have told us

something as to like what kind of Effect as a

child this might you know this had on him or

something where give him some sort of backstory

not don't just make him a one -off character

I'm kind of glad they did to be honest Unless

they intended to bring him back in later and

have him like target the you know gem in the

holograms Which they of course didn't so Which

is interesting because he keeps saying in the

plot about he's going to steal America's greatest

treasure. And when I think of America's greatest

treasure, especially in this universe, I don't

think it's the president. I don't care which

one it is. I think of it as doing the holograms.

And I'm like, why didn't he try to kidnap them?

I was like, that's so weird. All right. I guess

I'll be doing the hologram moments solo after

this. I've got a couple. I'll give them that.

I've got at least one. Friggin' liars Hologram

moments Star -spangled fantasy might be yet another

misfit song I actually like and we all know there

are very few of those that I actually like I

Thought it was funny that through the whole thing.

They're doing this little dance thing. They're

like up and down up and down, you know was it

was funny it made me laugh I was like guys really

that they're able to sit there and work together

for that one little dance thing that they're

doing up and down up and down up down through

the whole video just it just cracked me up with

that wow I'm surprised that Roxy and Jetta aren't

like ripping each other's necks off out at this

point oh that happens later Somebody's hands

would be around somebody else's neck and they're

choking them, you know It's so sad when synergy

says they are taking her apart, oh no damn government

So now the president knows so we have Kimber

Aja Shayna Raya The president we have five people

that know the Jim Jericho secret The president

gets to know what Rio doesn't really I think

Jericho should date the president If only it

was actually happening, right? What do you got

Amy? Okay, I liked the fact that synergy appeared

in the end to be like yes It was it was you know

that you know She'd be more than happy to come

back now that you've screwed with her and like,

you know Is she she deserved that moment coming

back like that? I was like, ah bless you synergy

having to put up with all these creeps No wonder

most you know AI systems turn against humans

Look at what we do to them the poor things. Oh,

that was it was good. It was well timed it totally

worked for me and like I said, it was almost

one of the only things that I liked about the

episode. I also like the timing of this episode

to be coinciding with, you know, November voting,

so it makes sense. But yeah, that's it, man.

That's all I have for hologram moments. Nicole?

Okay, so for mine, I thought them taking synergy

apart was pretty cool. Like I said, I said that

earlier. I like the Watergate reference. You

guys pick up on the Watergate reference. Is that

okay? When the Misfits error in the hotel room,

looking in another hotel room and seeing the

gym and the holograms doing something fishy.

I'm like, that is awesome. Another slow cut for

the Misfits. I kind of like knowing that synergy

might feel pain. That sounds kind of sinister

to me, but... she's becoming sentient baby. That's

a whole new meaning to what she says at the very

end, you know. Exactly. Oh my gosh. Because when

they were chasing her apart, she's like yelling

and stuff. I'm like, is she feeling sentient?

I was just like, yeah. Her facial expressions

were, oh my gosh. That was like, that was, I

really liked that moment. I thought that was

good. And then of course I have it. Jerika should

dump Rio and get with the president because she's

got more action from him in that five seconds

than she's got from Rio in a long time. That

was one very intimate hug. Did you see how she

hugged him? Hello, Jerika. We need to talk. Now,

I'm sitting here going, dude, you know, she's

lucky that, you know, the security isn't pouncing

on her and like, you know, putting her in jail

for touching. They're too much touching. Yeah,

those are those are those are my moments. Alright,

let's just get to the best of moments because

I know these ladies are gonna tear this episode

apart after this It is time for the Misfit Moments.

How much time you got? The whole rest of the

show. I don't know why I put this in here. It

should have been in my hologram moments. It looks

like the Misfits got kicked out of DC permanently

because once they get escorted out of Congress,

they never come back. That shows you're a good

partier if you get kicked out of DC. You had

to be some kind of scumbag to get kicked out

of DC, man. Misfits can do it. That's why I love

these gals. They're so fun to party with, man.

All right, Amy, what do you got? OK. Wouldn't

they just call Jerrica at Starlight Music because

she's their manager? They wouldn't show up with

a little note that says, hey, we've invited you.

It's like, really? Yeah. Okay, and speaking of

the Misfits appearing in front of Congress, again,

is there no security there? They wouldn't have

been able to get so close like that. I mean,

seriously, they would have been like this, stopped

them at like feet from the door. An invitation

to the White House for dinner again last -minute

changes like that Security wise not sure if they

do that or if they be I mean, I'd be a little

bit skeptical about a random phone call like

that Just out of the blue. Oh, guess what? You've

been invited to the White House for a dinner

really This was Jem on the phone, right? This

was her on the - yes. Right, right. This was

her on the phone. It was Eric's fucking voice.

Does she not know Eric Raymond's voice? It was

- it was Charlie's Eric voice and it's like,

seriously, does she not know that voice? This

long into the show and she doesn't know it. Come

on, her boyfriend doesn't know she's two different

people. Oh, come on. No, you cannot pull the

real thing in this because there's a huge difference

between Rio not knowing her secret and her not

recognizing Eric fucking Raymond's voice because

she should know that. Real would recognize that

they have the same voice. See, it's a common

it's a common thing. It's just like, you know

carts Clark Kent putting on the glasses Superman,

okay Some in some universes it works Okay, but

I don't see a lot of fans saying I hate Superman

because all he does is just put out the damn

glasses They say that about Lois it's like Lois

stop being a horse's brain and think for once

Okay, so also wouldn't there be security again

at the hotel and in Is so that people couldn't

just randomly break into their their hotel room

But I wouldn't the FBI also detain them for questioning

from the get -go if the FBI chooses to start

taking something out of your hotel room Because

somebody called them and gave them a tip or whatever

like because because I think that's what happens

in this They wouldn't they just hate I told you

it's Watergate. Yeah, yes, yes. Somebody mysteriously

calls the FBI, gives them a tip about the computer

because the misfits saw it. They didn't know

what it was, but they saw it. So they called

the FBI, gave them the tip. Well, one, these

are guests of the president. So would they not

be like a little skeptical about some random

anonymous call like that? Plus, it's not random

and anonymous because I'm sure they could have

just tracked down where they called from. So

I won the FBI side, they would have been a little

skeptical, but on the other side, wouldn't they

have also detained the holograms for that, especially

since they went, OK, so you've got this this

this, you know, really, really. incredible computer

in your hotel room. And now you're going to the

White House. I mean, it's perfect setup for getting

them into trouble is what it was. You think that

they would have just drove up and, you know,

pick them up right there and say, you're under

arrest. It's a security issue. you know i mean

come on so the fbi would have detained them from

from for questioning from the get -go and they

would have given them like they would have been

like quizzing him and drilling him about where

did this come from blah blah blah are you terrorists

yeah so i had a problem with that i love your

passion because i feel you man i feel you okay

they need to put me in charge i mean jeez i could

have been security wise, I'm like, no, no, no,

it's not gonna happen. It's like, I might not

know everything about security, but I know a

few things about how it functions, and this is

not how it functions. Okay, so plus being kidnapped

by the Marauder, wouldn't the president have

had a mass of bodyguards with him? He would have,

yeah. And they would have like, round him, the

second the lights went out, they'd be like, oh,

you know, dog pile the president, you know. Oh,

that was just so funny. Okay, so they would have

also joined Jerika in their pursuit if for some

reason the Marauder had found a way to get the

president away. They would have been with Jerika

in their pursuit and probably told her no, no,

this is this is leave this for the professionals.

Yeah. Oh, and then at the very end, Kimber and

Aja, they're trying to put synergy back together

and they're like, oh, just guess. So you're seriously

going to just guess at the last minute to put

synergy together. And I just busted up laughing

saying, seriously? Oh my gosh. Everything is

wrong with this episode Hey, we can't figure

it out and they're telling us to leave just just

guess I'm like going oh my gosh Everything hinges

on a guess Yeah, it's crazy at that point I just

said ah I tossed my hands up in the air and said

this is this is not a good episode Just facepalm.

Yeah Yeah. How about you, Nicole? Anything else

to add? Oh, I've got plenty. OK. First of all,

I don't know if I've told you guys, but I had

a little run in myself with the Secret Service.

Oh, jeez. You have all good stories. Well, this

was at the Olympics. And so security was extra

high. because it was right after 9 -11, that's

volunteering. I had Yo -Yo Ma, I was driving

Yo -Yo Ma in my golf cart and I was taking him

to the green room. Oh, that's awesome. And I

just about ran over President Bush with the golf.

Wait, wait, seriously? I am so serious. I'll

have to show volunteer. I just about ran as Secret

Service jumped out in front of me. There's Secret

Service everywhere around the president, okay?

And so I actually kind of. They're in the shadows

too. They are. They have technology that does

that now. The guy that jumped out for me, he

just looked like a normal guy. Secret services

everywhere. So this I met George Bush by almost

running him over. I'm like, oh, sorry, mr. President

He waved to me and I'm like, you're like, it's

okay. He's probably it's not the first time This

is the first Bush or the Sun W W Oh the Sun,

okay Because this was for the 2002 Winter Olympics

here in Salt Lake Okay, and I was a volunteer

for the opening closing ceremonies so to see

that We need to get her a blue wig Amy. You gotta

understand, there was literally thousands and

thousands of people around me. I'm trying to

get people out of my way because I need to get

Yo -Yo Bob back to the green room and I had to

pick up the next performers. I didn't know the

president was right in front of me. It's so interesting

It's so interesting you bring up yo -yo ma because

I I interviewed a guy Joe Clark who is a composer

for various things when he composes he Did you

yeah, I Joe worked with him Because I asked him

about that, okay problem with yo -yo ma you're

like Do I call him Yo -Yo or do I call him Mr.

Mockus? Either way, it sounded really weird.

So you're just like, uh, so you just come by

his full name. That's what I always do. I can't

wait to write the description for this podcast.

You're like, and Nicole nearly ran over the president

one time. Oh my gosh. Oh, I've got so many stories

from those three weeks. Oh my gosh. I got kissed

by Gene Simmons. I got in a fight with Christina

Gaguilera. I was on TV with John Bon Jovi. I

had breakfast with Harry Connick Jr. You needed

charm's life. I think we need to just do a whole

podcast about Nicole's adventures in the 2002

Olympics. Oh my God. I'm not kidding. It was

the craziest three weeks of pretty much anyone's

life. I was like, are you serious? I got to help

Kiss put their makeup on and help with their

wardrobe and stuff. Those boots are damn heavy.

So anyways, anyways, back to Secret Service.

So Secret Service is everywhere around the president,

right? So when the president got kidnapped, he

was stone cold, like, okay, this is happening.

I'm getting kidnapped. Yeah. I mean, there was...

He was not concerned whatsoever about being kidnapped.

I'm like... Yeah, it was his location they went

to the location that they had synergy and Even

if even if he didn't have all of his bodyguards

with him They would have had security at that

place too because it's not like they could just

walk in there It's they're investigating something

so the fact that this guy the Marauder was able

to get in there to begin with was just like so

far -fetched Because it has its own security

on top of that Let's see. What else do I got

here? Oh, holy shoulder pads. Did I tell you

guys about that? I know shoulder pads were big

in the 80s, but those were massive, Jeb. Okay.

Let's see. Well, Amy took over most of the invites

and the inspections and all that. I liked how

they're like, oh, Synergy's microchip, which

is the size of even a bigger floppy disk. That's

a microchip? Wow. Synergy was down, but Jericho

was still somewhat creating holograms. I didn't

get that Wait during the video synergy was getting

taken down, but she was still using Holograms

had a little bit of power a little bit left before

they pulled her plug completely I know I know

it's I get it. It's it's a technical thing but

If your computer, your computer is not mostly

on. It's either on or it's not. I know, I know,

I know. It's not a brown out. It's not a transformer

either. It's not using energy on slowly but surely.

Well, I kind of, you know, you kind of, I kind

of agree and disagree with that, Amy, because

if you think about it, they're treating synergy

in this episode like she is a real person. So

it's kind of like as they're taking her apart,

they're slowly stabbing her and letting the blood

flow out of her. You know, I hate to use that

as as an example, but that's the way I kind of

looked at it was there that they're slowly killing

her. Yes, she is a computer. Yes, she is a machine,

but she also has a personality. Yeah. But that's

one of those technical things. And the last thing

is all of this. The whole thing with Marauder

could have been taken care of if they would have

just given him a pass to a museum. He wanted

his own museum. Just give him a pass. I mean,

here, you could go to the museum at any time

and enjoy the stuff that you like. It doesn't

involve kidnapping or thievery or grand larceny

or whatever. You know, you're fine. Just here.

I find it hard to believe that like the most

important treasurer of the United States is a

guy that's only in office for a few years. Eight

years tops. Eight years tops, yes. So we don't

know how long this person's been in. Well, yeah,

I mean, unless you're one of the greats, unless

you're one of, you know, Washington, Roosevelt,

Lincoln, you know. to go back in time and get

one of these guys. But here's the thing, it's

just like, okay, how long could this guy have

possibly been in there? Eight years? And usually

by the end of eight years, people are like, get

him out of office. I don't know. It's just like,

he's the national treasure. It's like, oh, I

would think that they'd be like, wouldn't he

want to like kidnap or steal like the original

Constitution of the United States, you know,

cuz that's a jewel, you know I mean certainly

it's it's it's still written down if you took

it It wouldn't be like, you know, our government's

falling but it's a national treasure, you know,

I don't know I just kind of like that that was

kind of like, okay This guy really is smoking

something because if he thinks the president

is the national treasure Yeah, he's got his priorities

Yeah, I was just No offense against those people.

It's just that if you I don't think I've ever

I don't think I've ever heard of anybody Heralding

any president even after two or three years as

being the national treasure And as soon as you

take one guy out, they're gonna replace it with

somebody else. So I mean, come on That's how

we always have a leader but national treasure

Like I said, you know, it has to be someone who's

at least you know, two or three hundred years

in the past You know, it has to be a Lincoln

a Washington in which case you would be going

after synergy then because she could make a hologram

Treasure right there And the funny thing about

the whole Teddy Roosevelt thing is I was I know

this couldn't happen, but because we're reviewing

this in the current day, not 30 years ago when

it came out, because we're all kids back then.

But it's one of those things where when Teddy

Roosevelt showed up, I'm like, hey, why doesn't

he look like Robin Williams? I thought Robin

Williams did a great job. Oh yeah, he was amazing

as Teddy. Yeah. All right. What are we reading

this one, Amy? I'm scared to ask. Ask Nicole

first. I'm curious first. Is she going to give

it a one? I don't know. OK. It's better than

the China episode. Better than the China episode.

OK, woo. OK. Because of my hologram, it was the

Watergate thing. Knowing that synergy might feel

pain, and the taking apart of her, and the whole

Jerika getting it on with the president, I rated

it a little bit higher than China, but not by

much. I gave it a two. All right, Amy. The rest

of it was crap! I think I think two is a fair

assessment. There's too many flaws with the security

in this issue Even as a kid. I knew you just

don't get that close to the president. It just

didn't work for me It was all Hollywood magic

Watching this episode you absolutely have to

turn your brain off to watch it. So I'm giving

it a two I Don't know why but I'm gonna give

it a 2 .5. I don't know why I I Think the only

I think the only reason why it gets a point five

on the two point five is because I hate this

I really hate to say this but the misfit saved

it from getting a two who was star -spangled

fantasy It was a good song We're gonna move on

to the final episode of the day, Rock and Roll

Express after this. It is time for the Rock and

Roll Express! Come on, man, get some pazinga!

Okay, Sheldon. The air date is November 3rd,

1987. Double trouble on the train. A thief and

the misfits affect Jem on a cross -country train

trip. It wasn't the plan. Man, Wikipedia is getting

lazy with their plot descriptions. They just

don't have people like us writing them. That's

why. Yeah. The featured songs in this one is

I'm Taking a Train, Jim and the Holograms, It

Takes a Lot to Survive, The Misfits, which is

a reuse, and All Across the Country by Jim and

the Holograms. I'm taking a train. I really,

I never got a chance to do this as a kid or even

as an adult. I always wanted to do the whole

cross -country scenic train thing. I actually

looked this up after seeing this episode because

I thought, really? Did they take a train? Is

there a train that goes from California to Arizona

to New Mexico? And there is. It's the Amtrak.

Yep. Amtrak everywhere. I was like, oh, that's

cool. I looked up all their ramps. You can take

it out to your neighborhood. Yeah, they have

a they have a northern Arizona and they have

a southern Arizona and then they have one that

goes from Chicago all the way to California I

was like, whoa, this is so cool because I thought

you know, hey, you know I thought that it was

more likely that Jim and the holograms would

like have a tour bus of their own and that they

would take the old, you know, route 66 highway

through Arizona to New Mexico. But no, no, no.

There really is. There are trains. I mean, I'm

sure that, I mean, the train that they're using

obviously says Jim and the holograms on it. And

it says, I think it says the Zephyr on it as

well, which is funny because one of the Amtrak

um lines is the like uh the the route that you

can go like uh the travel route it's called the

zephyr anyhow but i just actually i i i did do

a little bit of research on this one to find

out about hey you know is this place really what

really exists take a train trip here yeah Well,

to tell you the truth, I was like, oh, one of

these days I want to go on the Amtrak. That's

kind of cool. I know, that I think would be awesome.

The only time I've ever, other than this episode,

I've ever seen, like in a movie or TV show or

something like that, people use train travel

like this is either the Three Stooges or in the

old Thin Man movies with William Powell and Myrna

Loy, because at the end of the original the thin

man from 1934 they go from New York to California

on the train and they had a sleeper car and this

that and the other thing and everything else

with the three stooges they're always on trains

those guys they're always on trains and they

always end up on a train with a giant gorilla

in a cage um i like this episode i really dig

it i think it's cool Think it's an interesting

episode. I think the plot was done very well.

Um, I Don't think that I Find it hard to believe

that the misfits are that good at horseback riding

Yeah, she I could see but like Jetta Because

you know, you never know there there's more horseback

riding in, you know England But Stormer and Roxy

be like, okay, you're gonna make me do what now?

What do we think of the plot Amy I liked it.

I thought it had a good feel to it. I wasn't

against it. But like I said, I did start doing

a little bit of research because it made me raise

questions about, hey, could you really do that

now? I know we're not in the 80s anymore. But

back then, Route 66 could have been still kind

of a thing. I took a trip down Route 66. It scared

me. There's a lot of scary points. Maybe back

in the day it was awesome, but oh, man. Well,

what really turned me on to Route 66 is the fact

that Cars, the first movie happened. And if you

look at all the credits of everything after the

movie, I broke down in tears at how much work

that they did for that, because they did such

a beautiful job on that movie, which makes the

sequels afterwards that much Sadder because they

all come on We'll get into a debate on the cars

films later I loved cars the first one the original

just because of how much work that they put in

there and the research that went into it and

so I have a little place in my heart because

of cars for Route 66 plus it It goes right through

my state. So I'm like, hey one of these days

I'd like to to go all route 66 and just do a

little thing on it and I don't know they just

So the fact that they did all the traveling I

thought oh, I'm gonna go do a little bit of research

on this episode And now they did it for like

man, maybe 30 minutes or something like that

But I wanted to I wanted to find out, you know

Mesa Ville actually exists, you know, does Rock

Canyon really exists? Yeah, well sort of And

do the trains actually go through there is that

and and all that so yeah What about you Nicole

thoughts on the plot? I really have fun with

this. Yeah, there's there's some gaps in it not

like the last episode Because you know, I'm familiar

with the southwest I I don't live in Arizona

like Amy does but it's just nice to see Kind

of how other people think of the culture. I'm

just like that's so wrong, but it's funny But

I mean everyone is in cowboy boots and flannel

apparently Apparently and Indians are still you

know dressing in and you know moccasins and Leather

-looking shirts and stuff. Yeah, like one and

maybe not so much that either I still had fun

with this episode. I lived in Arizona most of

my life. So even when I was in, you know, even

when I was a kid watching this, I was like, Hey,

it's Arizona. I was like, yeah, there's parts

of it that kind of look Arizona ish. It looks

more like southern Utah. Yeah. Yeah. And I can

totally see that. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Let's

get to the hologram moments after this. for the

hologram moments well at least none of the misfits

were flying the plane that's a positive thing

yeah yes but they were in the plane yeah that's

true but still you know what happened the last

time they weren't well they were in a helicopter

at that point and guess who was driving yeah

and guess who was sitting next to him guess what

they crashed And then they start, okay. She has

yet to get out of a crash and say, and for my

next... For my next crash, and for my next performance.

Oh, goodness. We have a food fight in this episode.

Started by Jenna. It was funny. And then Rio

locks them in. That was hilarious. Ah, Rio. This

is the one time that I have to say that his existence

wasn't necessary. I tried to be less hateful

on Rio, but sometimes it's just so hard. Stop

lying to us and stop lying to yourself. I'm not

lying to anyone. You're a liar. Okay, I'm secretly

in love with the man. Oh god, I want to throw

up. Why? Why, Nicole? Because his alter ego is

her boyfriend. You could date the president.

You practically ran him over already. I actually

had to get that taste out of my mouth because

I just threw up. I can't even pull off that light.

Oh, no. Oh, boy. I love that they had the jump.

from the train but the jump wasn't very long

like when i see a train going into a tunnel and

they either need to duck down on top of the train

or they need to jump off i'm thinking that they're

coming off like a really really steep where a

bridge would be that jump wasn't very far that

wasn't a very long fall for the misfits of all

add the addition that they're going so fast it

would have been hurt Well, that's true. They're

going to a certain speed and they're going to

hit that water. It is not going to feel good.

And if it's not deep enough, granted, I live

in Arizona. I don't know that many deep lakes

that are right next to railroads like that. More

likely that it'd be like a reserve of water and

it wouldn't be that deep and they would have

some serious injuries. Maybe even dead. What

do you got for hologram moments, Amy? I like

that the holograms help the misfits, because

they don't deserve it, but the holograms are

always doing the right thing, and I like how

they're consistent about that. I have to say,

I really have to give kudos to Rio for locking

the misfits in the train observation car, because

that was brilliant. I was just like, yay! Yeah.

Constance They jump off the train and they have

to hoof it but I'm bump quite literally Stormer

was being the voice of reason again and I always

think that's good because you know It's good

for the red for her and bad for the rest of the

Misfits because they don't really take more cues

from her Yeah Hey, if they if they did take cues

from her then they wouldn't they wouldn't get

in trouble and have to do some work to help out

at the very end Yeah, that's true because they

weren't requiring them to do anything at the

very beginning We just go we'll help them out

They can come along and until they start making

trouble and then we're gonna make them work for

it But we're also back to Rio playing hero again,

you know He rides motorcycle to the train and

then to he's the only one that has a brain enough

to get closer To the rest of the break to slow

down the train because the rest of them like

I was really waiting for mr. Gabor to ride up

alongside of him because I really wanted to make

a back -to -the -future 3 reference with Marty

and Doc on horses chasing the train So Rio was

less annoying in this episode, but yeah, yeah

What about you Nicole Oh, for what? Oh, let's

see. I love the whole horseback riding thing.

That was awesome. I have here, Eric Raymond should

hire Rio for his true calling in life as the

Misfits babysitter. Just to put it out there,

how is it that the horses can, you know, catch

up to a train? Just saying. It always happened

in the Wild West, you know, they don't go too

fast. Okay, this is the modern day. So yeah,

train would go a little bit further. This is

what I have here. I have the Zephyr was the name

of the train. And Amy found out there's some

other stuff that was also one of the trains at

the Golden Spike. Nice rails came together. So

like, I wonder if that was homage. So I thought

that was kind of cool. Yeah. Um, let's see. Well,

I think we've pretty much talked about it the

other stuff Yeah, I Love the food fight that

was awesome Because I've done that in restaurants.

They kicked out of restaurants. We're finding

out more about me. I'm your troublemaker. Okay

What did I say at the beginning of this podcast

ladies and gentlemen Nicole hailstorm has an

evil streaked her and she doesn't want to admit

to it but as we keep going down this road food

fight evil. It's this genius. But somebody has

to clean that mess up. No, I don't think that

Nicole is I think that she's just a flavor of

awesome. How many people, you know, have too

much of their inhibitions of like, No, no, I

wouldn't do that. Because, you know, hey, it

wouldn't be nice and blah, blah, blah. Not Nicole,

she's just like, we're gonna get it on. Come

on, I'm gonna throw food at you. You better throw

it back. My friend Tiffany threw pudding at me.

And of course, with me being a very competitive

person, I'm like, oh, game on, girlfriend. So

just one little push, and it turned into a shove,

you know. So we got kicked out of the King Arthur's

pizza round table. And on that note, let's head

to the misfit moments. Holy crap. Wow. We'll

be back after this. Time for the misfit moments

for the rock and roll express. Amy mentioned

that she liked in the hologram moments that Jim

and Jerika and Jim and the holograms are helping

out the misfits no matter what. And for me, those

damn ingrates, they were helping, like, oh god,

why can't the misfits just accept someone's help

without trying to ruin it for themselves and

everybody else? Ugh, god. again we've seen and

I know you ladies have pointed this out before

it's kind of weird when they do crossovers between

the two bands but they have done them on several

songs in the past how about instead of wrecking

the concert you actually help and perform along

with them like instead of trying to ruin Jim

and the holograms reputation how about actually

because Eric is nowhere to be found in this episode

pretty much Eric is not here at all. Why not

actually do something out of your character try

to help your mother career and It's against them

actually looking out for themselves and trying

to further themselves along without actually

doing something destructive I think that there's

a reason here now because after We've already

seen the family episode at this point. We already

know that Gabor has saved Kimber. And I think

it's now she's just trying to get back at her

father. So no matter what they do, no matter

what Jem and the holograms do, they will always

be the enemy because Gabor has helped them. I

guess I still don't like, it's not even about

the misfits helping. Jim and the Holograms, it's

about them helping themselves. Instead of wrecking

the concert for the other band, why don't you

shut up, help yourself, get your instruments

together, and perform a sit -like hook. I know

it's a whole thing of ego, whether Jim goes on

first, or the Misfits go on first, or, you know,

whether you label it as, oh, Jim and the Holograms,

with the opening act, the Misfits. I understand

that, I get that, but it's like... These girls

need all the good publicity they can get because

the bad publicity only just turns America against

them Yeah, if Stormer were in charge, I would

say absolutely that would be true But pizzazz

is in charge and she has this stubborn streak

about her It just does not fit her character

to be able to put that down She just it's just

not within her And I don't think that's a bad

thing. I think there's there there I like the

fact that there's at least emotional consistency

there They are they are keeping that about her

it and it absolutely doesn't work But you know

somebody has to be the people that just doesn't

that just don't get it And the Misfits are and

this is why we also love them, too If they actually

learned everything all of a sudden right away,

I mean, I'm not asking for consistent Character

development with them as far as them going good

for one episode because let's face it even though

this is a continuous journey for Jim and the

holograms and the Misfits and they have to keep

up the general character base But it'd be nice

for at least one episode the Misfits you know

kind of like way back in season one when Eric

had his little moment of Shining, you know glory

where he's gonna be the good guy for once It

would be nice for once if the Misfits as a group

not just Stormer Um, you know, come together

and say, okay, well, for just this one time,

we're going to have to concede this one time

and, and, and. It's not even about conceding.

It's about just calling a truce. Yeah. You know,

and just saying, okay, well, let's do this to

help them and to help ourselves. You know, uh,

I mean. i think eventually we do get there with

the final episode to be honest no we don't the

final episode we'd know i think the final episode

did do that because when we're going back and

seeing it again you know just in the in the last

year and seeing how it kind of wrapped up i think

they they kind of in a sense do as best as they

can but they kind of do have a moment where they're

like You know, I don't know what well we can

get on to that later. We'll see it when we we

see it at this point What miss fit moments do

you have Amy? Ah Rio is still on the gem wagon

or Jerrica. I Think we deserve a breakup episode

if this was gonna be the normal for this season

I think that they should have had a given us

a breakup episode because suddenly get the season

three though yeah but like we needed it like

this episode this season not next season especially

since next season we get a new dynamic going

on yeah oh i forgot oh riot yeah it's a riot

it's a riot oh Okay, so I don't think the Rock

Canyon Arizona exists nor Mesaville either. Like

I said, I did a little bit of research. I said

Red Rock near Sedona exists and Hot Springs Canyon,

Slide Rock, but I couldn't find a Rock Canyon.

Right, but there is a Mesa, Arizona, right? There

is a Mesa, Arizona, but it's Mesaville. New Mexico.

Oh, okay. And the only thing that I found for

Mesaville was there's a Mesilla Valley mall in

Las Cruces, New Mexico. But I couldn't find a

Mesaville. I could be wrong. Maybe it's a small

little podunk town that you just drive through,

but I didn't see one when I googled it. So, um,

uh, the Misfits doing their air, their air. aerobatics

in the in the the the plane sorry my brain is

not working right now okay so yeah no real no

self -respecting pilot would really do that to

be honest because they're not gonna drive that

close to a train and potentially To do a stall

like that. I'd be like Maybe if they were driving

and the pilot was like, oh, yeah here I'm gonna

get i'm gonna be really dumb and give you the

wheel and let you see what you do He would take

that wheel back in two seconds flat because the

last thing you want to do is is stall and die

Yeah, absolutely I thought it was kind of a little

cheesy the intro Are we? Wait, we're doing the

hologram moments, right? No, mr. Okay, mr. Mom.

Sorry. Okay. See I am not on my game right now

Too many drugs Yeah, okay, so The it takes a

lot to survive little cheesy intro hedge way

there But I you know had to put it in here because

I thought it was kind of cheesy I think that

if gem and the holograms have enough to to have

to actually have a train that they couldn't afford

a train like that, that they would be able to

afford some real roadies to set up and watch

their equipment instead of the starlight girls

and Rio. Exactly. And this is got to be the most

faulty train ever. One, the brake breaks, and

so does one of the steps. I think I'd be like,

let's get off this train ride here right now.

It looked like a really, really old train anyway.

Yeah. But hey, if they can afford the train,

like I said, roadies, they could afford some

roadies too. But that would mean, you know, having

to introduce new characters. Not necessarily.

Which would then become more boyfriend material

for Kimber and Aja and everything else. It'd

just be extras walking around. I mean, come on,

you don't have to include them in that way. Rio

could be like head of them. Oh Lord. I mean,

it's a lot of responsibility, Rio, but, you know,

hey. Wow. Alright, Nicole. What do you got for

misfit moments for Rock and Roll Express? First

of all, taking a drink from a complete stranger.

Uh hello. Somebody needs to watch the PSA's.

You don't take stuff from strangers. Okay. Uh

like I said, I have misfits must have metal bones

because they don't get hurt no matter what. Yeah.

Plane accident, falling off a train, falling

off horses, whatever. They don't get hurt. And

I'm just going to make their Amazons. Exactly.

And my last thing is Rio can solve almost every

problem, but he can't figure out his girlfriend

and Jim are the same person. You can figure out,

you know, simple gadgets and how things work,

but he can't figure that out. It's a plot point.

The the Misfits as Amazons that would give them

a whole new meaning on Themyscira Anything else

Nicole Speaking of PSA's how long has it been

since we've had one of those? Oh boy, it's been

a while Yeah, cuz I was gonna say I haven't seen

one even in the episodes that we watched for

this I didn't see any PSA's but they did have

an shortened encore for taking a train on this

episode. Yep. So Yep. All right, Amy. What are

you gonna rate this one? I rated this one a three

and a half It almost feels like we've kind of

gone back in a sense to season one here but with

what I like to call some improvements because

Misfits end up getting caught and having some

consequences here. The holograms aren't doormats

anymore. They're like, hey, if you want to stay

with us now, you know what? You're going to have

to help. You're going to have to do your share.

The Misfits just could have refused and get kicked

off the train or leave because they're in another

city. We've got another season to go. We will

see if they get there. But yeah, I gave it a

3 .5. What about you, Nicole? I gave it the same,

too. 3 .5. Amy and I are on the same brainwave

here today. I just thought it was really fun.

There was some good adventure. Rio wasn't completely

annoying. Now locking locking the Misfits in

an observation car was a pretty brilliant thing

for him I like the food fight. I thought that

was really fun. There was just like Misfits without

a food fight. Yeah And I like I said, I like

the whole video with the Misfits on the horse.

I found that really entertaining for some So

what about you Mike? I'm gonna give it a four.

I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a great

episode. Again, it reminds me of all those old,

you know, other western -type movies that I've

seen and, you know, reminds me of the olden movies

like I mentioned earlier with the Thin Man and

the Three Stooges and that kind of stuff. Yeah,

there are certain things in this that are kind

of, hmm, but they're just, when you boil it down

to it, it's just nitpicks. So we're gonna take

a quick break you're gonna hear some ads from

other podcasts on GCN and other places and we'll

be back after this Hey, I'm Gary I'm Mike I am

because knowing us is half the battle. All right,

we are back So ladies, what are we thinking of

season two in the series so far after these three

episodes? Nicole I overall am enjoying this season

So there's been some mishaps, but we've got a

little bit more tech rat, which is always a plus

we got less Rio, which is always Watching a little

bit of head, we kind of see other characters

besides Jem being the main focal point, which

I kind of like. So yeah, I really am enjoying

this season. What about you Amy? Well, we're

swiftly running almost to the end of season two

now at this point So I like the fact that it

seems like there's just a slight evolution that

we've been seeing with you know, some some Lessons

are learned or you know, they're kind of tech

rat and Raymond not including the misfits and

some of their little schemes I mean it really

is kind of feeling like we're moving toward,

you know Learning a few lessons. So I've really

enjoyed this season probably a little bit more

than last season So yeah, we're good Yeah for

me is the character development goes along. I

Like I said earlier in this podcast episode I

wish for at least like if Eric can have two or

three of his own shining moments where he actually

shows up and does something good I think the

Misfits can at least have one and we kind of

mentioned the series finale episode I don't think

it really has anything to do with the Misfits,

if I remember correctly, because isn't it just

Bonnie looking for her dad? It is, but they have

this wrap up at the very end where, like, the

Misfits are kind of adding a little bit to it.

And that's why I was like, well, they don't have

a huge, I mean, when they make character changes

and they do like little improvements, it's not

on like a huge scale that's measurable. I'd say

it's a slight different than what we've had before.

You know what I mean? They don't go too off the

rails. They don't like have this, oh, moment.

It's just like, oh, okay, well, we know we're.

We'll actually add a little bit of something

to this and we won't do it just because we're

gonna get something out of it That's kind of

the feel that I got at the end because I thought

oh finally it feels like the Misfits are instead

of trying to outdo them They're just kind of

adding a little bit of their own flavor and you

know saying hey We don't know you that well girl,

but you know good good luck But in the past they

haven't been so kind like that. It's always been

one -sided It's always been something that they

are Getting something out of and so that's what

I'm saying is that the major improvements that

I'm seeing they're not really major They're just

we see a slight shift. We're seeing slight Changes

where there seems like they're learning this

they're getting consequence for that and just

just little things and it's it's enough to that

I notice it's noticeable so You know, and I want

to give the show, because it's so well written,

I want to give the show points for that because,

hey, I think it's worth acknowledging that, hey,

seems like there's a little bit of a shift here.

I like that. It's interesting to me so far in

season two that we've had all these different

adventures. And again, I have to say it, that

Jem... It Jim Jim and holograms is a show where

it is a specific amount of adventure but at the

same time it could almost feel like a Adventure

of the week show, but it isn't Because we have

so many different things and coming up we'll

have Think it's the season two finale Is that

Hollywood gem trying to remember off top my head?

Yeah Yeah, so I mean, you know, we're working

into certain things and in certain ways of doing

stuff at the same time they're still throwing

us adventures and various things like when we

get to next time we get to episode 15 we have

Adventures that are all over the place, but they

fit in with the show's overall progression So

absolutely love that All right, thank you for
