now inside Studio 2009. Only on the Geekcast

Radio Network. I'm, of course, T .O. Joe and

Mike. And for the second time ever, it is Media

Mayhem. And it will be like the sands of the

hourglass. These are the decades of our lives.

Today, I welcome back that good old detective

of film and television. It's David Draper. Hello,

sir. How are you? Like I said, I'm not dead yet.

Not dead yet. I'm not getting better, but being

older. We can try to get better. And as I said

last episode, this is all his fault, folks. And

we already went through all the reasons why this

is all his fault in the last episode. But again,

I will remind everybody of the rules. Rule number

one. These lists are inherently subjective. They

are not the quote -unquote best films of each

year. but are favorites, and therefore no choice

can be quote -unquote wrong. Quiet eye -rolling

is, however, allowed. Rule number two! The more

a personal thing, in many cases, we define favorite

as film we'd most like to watch. Rule number

three! You'd have to have seen the movie, but

do not have to have actually seen it the year

it was released. And finally, rule number four!

You can only pick one film each year, 1984. You

must pick one film from every year, 2006, etc.,

etc. So those are the rules. Any questions, anything

you'd like to say before we start? I wish I had

come up with rule number five, which is that

the movie had to actually be released the year

that the... If I had known that you could cheat

like that, Star Wars would be on the list like

five times. It came out on videotape in 1982.

It came on HBO in 1983. The special edition in

1997. So what he's referring to, folks, is Lady

and the Tramp got re -released in 1980. I was

born in 1980. And I asked him, and I said, hey,

are we counting re -releases? I said no. And

that's fine. I didn't pick it. Oh, you didn't?

Okay. So you've actually seen another movie besides

Empire Strikes Back from 1980? Actually, yeah.

I think you thought that I was just pushing for

that movie. And my thing was like, I really didn't

care if you picked Empire. It was just like,

it did not strike me right. Because number one,

you didn't see it in 1980. You saw it later.

And it was released in 1955. It felt like a dodge

to get out of the... And the thing is, 1980 had

a... I counted, like, 20 films, like, that were

not Empire Strikes Back, that were, like, and

not horror films. Because they had, like, they

had a lot of, like, really classic, you know,

horror films, too. I'm not a big horror film

guy. But it's, like, they had The Fog, and they

had Alligator, and they had Terror Train, which

are all well -known horror films. But, like,

they had, like, I mean, I listed them all. I

listed off a couple of them, like Airplane. Airplane,

come on, man. Caddyshack. There was another one,

because I know you like comedies. There was another

one, like Ordinary People, which won the Academy

Award. I mean, obviously, it won the Academy

Award every year, but I'm saying there were a

lot of really good films that year. And I spent,

well, by the time you folks hear this, it'll

probably be a couple of months from now, but

hopefully it'll be shorter than a couple of months

from now. At the time of recording, I spent about

four hours last night and three hours this morning

coming up with my list. So I spent about seven

hours total. And I spent about an hour and a

half on 1980 alone. Because every other one,

every other year, I pretty much knew what I was

picking. Almost up until the. I would say 2021,

2023 kind of gave me a little little bit of a

whatever. Actually, 2017 gave me some trouble,

too. But 1980 gave me the most trouble because

you're right. There are a lot of great movies

in there. I just haven't, I've never seen airplane.

I, I know the clearance Clarence thing because

it's everywhere because that's the biggest joke

out of that entire movie. Like that's the most

famous joke out of that movie is the Shirley

one. Okay. Yeah. Don't call me Shirley. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Don't call me Shirley. Yeah. Fine.

But I'm saying like, what's the clearance Clarence.

That's another one that I know, but I've still

to this day, never seen airplane. I've never

seen. the other ones you mentioned. It was Caddyshack,

and it was something else. I've seen bits and

pieces of the original, the first Caddyshack

film, and as soon as I saw Dangerfield, I was

like, oh, hell. He was better in Ladybugs with

Jonathan Brandis. That's all I'll say. No, but

my favorite Dangerfield is Back to School. That's

a good one. Okay, well, I'll do you one better.

The best part is he hires Kurt Vonnegut to write

his paper on Kurt Vonnegut. And then the teacher's

like, I don't know who you hired to write this

paper, but he knows nothing about Kurt Vonnegut.

I'll tell you one better. Rover Dangerfield.

When you don't actually see Rodney, you just

hear his voice because he's the animated dog.

I'm just not a Dangerfield fan. I respect the

guy. I respect his comedy, but I'm just not a

fan of him in film. I mean, he's one part of

like – I mean, when you mention that, it's like,

oh, yeah, Dangerfield is in that. Like for me,

it's Bill Murray and Chevy Chase. Yeah. I need

to go back. It's not about them either. It's

about the stupid kid who was – About the kid,

yeah. Ended up being like the boyfriend on Roseanne,

I think. Jackie's boyfriend. I think that's the

same guy. I could be wrong. Don't ask me. Johnny

Galecki? No, Johnny Galecki. No, no, no. Roseanne's

sister has like a boyfriend. Yeah, okay. I mean,

it was 20 years later. Agent Bull, the Elephant

Man. Oh, okay. Yeah. I don't know what movies

you watch. Flash Gordon. Flash. Yeah. Popeye.

9 to 5! The gods must be crazy! Okay, now see,

here's the thing. Is that... No, not Xanadu.

I was forced to watch that one year. I was forced

to watch that one year as well. That movie is

horrible. I hate that movie. It exists. Between

Xanadu and The Gods Must Be Crazy, I'll take

The Gods Must Be Crazy any day. Oh, The Gods

Must Be Crazy is a great film. So the funny thing

about The Gods Must Be Crazy is that I believe,

and I could be getting this wrong, and I don't

think it was my high school years. I think it

was my middle school years. I think it was like,

no, it was probably the early high school. It

was either eighth grade or ninth grade. Now,

the way that... Middle school and high school

worked for me was it was 6th, 7th, and 8th was

middle, and then 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th was

high school. So freshman, sophomore, junior,

senior. So because in different areas of our

lovely country here, it sometimes worked differently.

Hell, my cousin Pauly, when he was a kid, for

some odd reason, one of the schools he ended

up going to, they didn't give out A, B, C, D,

all that. They gave out S's and G's, and I still

don't know which one was the good grade and the

bad grade. Anyway, but at one of these schools,

one of the teachers was so eccentric to get the

class to shut up at one point after we learned

some lesson or something. This teacher, I don't

remember what this teacher... was on but they

would and i'm using the term they because i don't

remember if it was a male teacher female teacher

i i don't remember all as i remember is anytime

they wanted us to shut up they would get out

the tv and vcr and put on the gods must be crazy

to make us shut up i don't know why but all right

1980 also i want to bring up that there was like

a A thing about Superman 2, you were like, it

actually premiered, it came to America in 1981.

Yeah. It premiered in 1980. Every list I've seen

with it has it premiering in 1980. It premiered

in Australia or Sweden or whatever in 1980, yes.

It premiered in 1980. It doesn't matter. Because

you wouldn't have seen it in 1981 anyway. You

would have been a year old. Yeah. Keep in mind,

everyone listening at home, this is supposed

to be fun. Yeah, it is fun. I'm having fun going

through my emotional trauma of trying to pick

a movie here. People are into that. People make

good money doing that. Alright, alright, fine.

I'm just gonna... What are we gonna pick? No,

no, hold on, hold on. I'm going to pick it, but

I'm going to also say... Are we going to do this

for every year? You decide on the spot? No, but

no. No, no, no. No gods. Not yet, anyway. I will

say that my list has multiple listings as we

go along, and I have marked in red my actual

picks. So I wish I could give you a hard time

about that. My list had moments like that, too.

So I mentioned the gods must be crazy. So at

least I mentioned it. We mentioned Empire. And

for me, I found Empire so much later. I mean,

I didn't find Empire. I didn't find the trilogy

until like 87. I saw Spaceballs before I saw

Star Wars. Okay. I don't know what that has to

do with anything. You found it when you found

it. I know. I understand that. One of the biggest

Star Wars fans I know was born in 1983. Okay.

Which is my point. You come to it when you come

to it. Right. And again... I don't care that

you don't pick Empire. It's not my list. My only

thing is that it felt like you were using this

really weird non -technicality to get out of

a hard decision. No, no, no. I was trying to

clarify because I had a Lady and the Tramp story

and the only time Lady and the Tramp was listed

in the 80s was the 1980 re -release. I was just

clarifying. This isn't our favorite movies. I

would have had a much different list if you had

to pick your, in my case, 54 favorite movies.

It would be a radically different list than what

I came up with. Right. Part of the thing is you're

stuck with what the years were. You know what

I mean? Right. Again, as we talked about with

1984, half of those movies would be on my list

of 54 favorite movies of all time. And maybe

we'll do that podcast, but that's not what this

thing is. You know what I mean? The thing is,

you're locked into whatever came out that year.

Movies by your age. 54 favorite movies of all

time, of your time. 45 of mine. That's not my

time. No, no, no, but I'm saying... Cousin Kane

was in the 40s? No, no, no. I mean, Casablanca

was in the... Maltese Falcon was... Yeah, anyway.

And those didn't make my list because they weren't...

A year I lived. Yes. I'm just saying, it felt

like, just pick your movie, man. No, it wasn't

a dodge. It was a question. This whole thing

is train wreck right at the very beginning. Of

course. It's the way it always is around here

at the Geek Cast Radio Network. Don't you know

this by now? Alright, 1980. Superman 2. The Lester

cut. The theatrical Lester cut was the cut I

saw as a child. End of story. Period. I don't

remember ever making a big argument for the Donner

cut. No, no, no. I'm not saying this for you.

I'm saying this for the audience. I don't know

what you have against polar bears, but whatever.

Fine. The only thing I remember about the Donner

cut was there was a shot of a polar bear. Okay,

okay, okay. 1981. Yeah, let's, let's, let's.

I'm interested to see what you go here. Yeah,

so really quickly, like I said. I know you are.

I'm glad you are. That's good. Apparently you've

got some kind of weird chip on your shoulder

about the Donner cut, but like. Dude, just no.

Look. You see, my problem is I am too old. All

these weird cuts, to me, they're laser discs.

The LaserDiscs had the weird cut of Star Trek

The Motion Picture and Superman 2 and Aliens.

My brain has never adapted to a post -DVD slash

Blu -ray world where in the early days that stuff

was normal. I'm on board these days with 4K because

I have a 4K television and I'm more than fine

with whatever, but I can't go back. And not reconcile.

Now this is part of my memory. And this is my

reasoning for Superman 2. Now that I finally

made my choice. Of Superman 2. I remember being

on. Being in South Dennis Massachusetts. On Cape

Cod. At my Uncle Richard and Aunt Cheryl's house.

On the Cape in Massachusetts. I remember watching

that movie. Every single time. I would go to

their house. And I remember just. Enjoying the

hell out of that. film all the time every single

time like it was just the thing i did every time

i would go to their house and then fast forward

all these years later finally hey guess what

there's this donner cut they changed all this

stuff they did this they did that and it's so

much different and it's so much better and it

makes it a better story fuck off sorry not sorry

And I'm really not sorry. Because this time,

I won't stop until you're just a greasy smear

on my fist. 1981! Alright, here we go. So folks,

I did not know this, and we are going to find

this out at some point, most likely next year,

considering the schedule that this podcast has

at this point. But this movie has an uncredited

role of a homeless watch salesman. How you doing,

young fella? Okay, I guess. Penny for your thoughts.

Well, it's a long story. But a familiar one,

I bet. Older than the hills. I've been there,

my friend. I've been there and back. You know,

I see the way you're sitting here. I see the

way you got your hand around that little shoe,

and that's all I need. I know your whole story.

You do? Absolutely. It was 1981, and the homeless

watch salesman was played by none other than

Peter Falk in The Great Muppet Caper. Oh, okay.

Yeah. I've watched that scene on YouTube. No,

I watched the whole movie. I watched the whole

movie a couple years ago. No, no, no, but just

recently, because I did a visit to Chicago. and

I likened the place where I stayed to the Happiness

Hotel. Yeah, no, I absolutely love The Great

Muppet Caper. It is one of my favorite Muppet

movies. It's so funny. They can't get out of

their own way. I love the thing that Kermit and

Fozzie are brothers, and there's that picture

of their dad. I love that. That's hilarious.

So funny. The Great Muppet Caper is pure Muppet

comedy gold. I can't wait to revisit it when

we eventually do the Muppet Spotlight at some

point here on the podcast. Hopefully before I'm

dead and gone. 1982! I would not have seen this

movie until 2010. But the pick for 82 is Tron.

And the story behind that is that, like I said,

I did not see that until 2010 when its sequel

came out. And it was like Tron Fever in 2010.

And I will talk more about that when we get to

2010. But for the time, wow. What a movie. 1983.

I think we should stop and acknowledge all the

movie bros that are going to come at us for neither

of us picking Blade Runner. I've never seen it.

I have. It's fine. It's not my thing, bro. Calm

down. I'm just like, I know someone's going to

be like, they didn't pick Blade Runner. Look,

not every geek can be the same. Not every geek

should be the same. I'm just saying. I know you

know, but I'm not. I'm acknowledging that Blade

Runner exists. Now, calm down. It's fine. Android's

dream of electric sheep. He's going to die anyway.

But who doesn't? Android's dream of electric

sheep? What's the name of the book that it was

based on? Do Android's dream of electric sheep?

I'm sitting there thinking of, like, I guess

that's what... Maybe you should just move on

to your movie choice. I was trying to remember

the dog's name. Please, just move on to the movie

choice. 1983, folks. I will give an honorable

mention to the best ending to a saga ever in

Return of the Jedi, but my choice is Trading

Places. Because, damn, Trading Places. Oh, my

God. Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd in that movie.

Hilarious. It has a... I don't know if it's uncredited.

He better be credited. I'm not looking at Wikipedia

or IMDb, but it is Paul Gleeson in that before

he was Mr. Vernon in The Breakfast Club two years

later. But he ends up in the... in the gorilla

suit at the end. But it's got Edward and Mortimer

Duke, and it's got the Duke brothers, and one

of those guys ends up playing one of the grandparents

on National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. By

the way, the original Vacation came out this

year, or that year, 83. Yes, it did. Yep. And

to this day, I think there are only two Vacation

movies I've ever seen. Christmas vacation and

Vegas vacation, and I'm perfectly fine. I've

seen the original, I've seen European, and I've

seen Christmas. European was fun because when

I actually went to Europe, we were quoting that

stupid, look, it's Big Ben Parliament. Our handlers

were very sick of us by the time we were done.

But Trading Places is so fun because it's...

It's two guys who are kind of lost in their lives.

One needs to find a way to do something. It's

just a fun, fun movie. It's a fun comedy. It's

Eddie Murphy and it's Dan Aykroyd. They just

do so many weird, awesome things in it. It's

really cool. So fun. 1984. Oh boy, 1984. I didn't

find it to be such a bloodbath as you did. It

is a bloodbath. I agree. There are a lot in 1984.

But then there's Helen Slater. Because, damn,

Supergirl. That's the choice. And I'm sticking

with it. That movie. Oh, my God. I remember I

would have watched it later because I was four

years old in 1984. I would have watched it probably

close to 87 when Superman 4 came around. I would

have Supergirl on repeat. You've had your fun,

Selina. The game is finished. On VHS. Most likely.

In 87 as a 7 -year -old. Did you grow up on a

farm? No. I grew up in a city. That's a Red Letter

Media reference to their Supergirl episode. Yes.

No, I did not grow up on a farm. I grew up on

a farm and the only tapes they had were Supergirl

and something else. So you watched Supergirl

a lot. Ghostbusters? I'm genuinely like, really?

Yeah, no. Here's the thing about Ghostbusters.

You're going to redeem my choice on that one.

No, here's the thing about Ghostbusters is that

Ghostbusters is a comedy horror movie. Oh, for

fuck's sake. No, no, no. I'm not judging. I love

Ghostbusters. I do. But here's the thing, and

this is the thing with me. In my movie watching

as a child, as I found movies... You just saw

Tron in 2010. I often... Right. You didn't have

any emotional connection with it. I often found

sequels before I found originals. So I saw Ghostbusters

2 before I ever saw Ghostbusters. So I saw. No,

it is. Absolutely. 100%. I love Ghostbusters

2. My point is, is that I saw Ghostbusters 2

before I saw Ghostbusters. I saw Beverly Hills

Cop 2 before I saw Beverly Hills Cop. I love

both films equally. I have loved both films equally

now, but if we're talking about Little Mikey

in the 80s, Little Mikey in the 80s didn't see

Ghostbusters at all. I never saw it until probably

1996 or 7. I was 16 or 17 years old when I first

saw Ghostbusters, probably. Probably the best

age to do it, because you... I saw it when I

was 13. Like, you don't necessarily get all the

jokes when you're 13. I mean, I kind of knew

what was happening with the ghost and Dan Aykroyd

in the, quote, dream sequence, which was originally

supposed to be, like, a thing that actually happened.

But, I mean, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. Yep.

I feel bad that I went highbrow in 84. No, hey,

your list is your list. I personally feel bad

that I, but I... I do, in fact, love that movie.

I also want to acknowledge Footloose, because

that was a favorite of someone who was very close

to me. That was one of those films that every

time it was on TV, I was like, okay, oh gosh,

Footloose again. That and Harris Bueller. I think

I broke my thumb. Anyway. Which reminds me, I

need to make a little note here to talk about

this in that year when it comes up, because damn.

1985. There's only one movie in 85 that I constantly

begged my mom. Like, if we didn't return this

VHS to the video store at the time, which was

Adventure and Video in Kingston, Massachusetts.

we would have had a million dollar late fees

instead of late fees because I would have kept

this over. We just constantly kept re -renting

it because I watched it over and over and over

again. And that was He -Man and She -Ra, The

Secret of the Sword. Let's move, Kat. I could

not. Like, this was huge. As a He -Man fan, as

a kid who grew up on He -Man, as someone who

had practically all of the toys, I've said this

before on other podcasts, I had Castle Grayskull,

I had Snake Mountain, I had everything from that

toy line. I grew up watching that cartoon when

that movie, when that animated film came out.

I didn't get to see it in theaters, but once

that VHS came out, oh man, just... Absolutely

watched it over and over and over again. And

it was just, just amazing. Absolutely amazing.

And again, it's no shade to back to the future

and, and any like breakfast club and any of the

other 85 movies that are, that are in 1985. But

for me, for my memories, for my childhood, that

like, I don't remember like how I saw back to

the future was I saw it as a marathon because

I saw all of them in like late 1990, early 1991

when they were all out on VHS. So, but in 85,

86, when he managed to the secret of the sword

finally came to. vhs at the time i was renting

that thing every other day as long as my mom

let me absolutely love that this is such a good

that is you're gonna kill me for this but it's

true because and and the producers of it actually

even said that's essentially the fantasy the

the you know how they say science fiction and

fantasy like oh here's your star wars and here's

your lord of the rings That technically is your

first ever Lord of the Rings, quote unquote,

type version of Star Wars. Because you have...

Star Wars is a fantasy film. Yeah, well, it's

also... No, it is a fantasy film with science

fiction trappings, but it's a fantasy film. And

they actually did Lord of the Rings in the 70s.

And that same year that you're picking also had

Legend. Legend? Legend? Huh? Tom Cruise? Tim

Curry? Yeah. Really? Tim Curry's in that? Tim

Curry's the devil. I don't remember. I have...

I mean, this is the thing that I say quite a

bit. I have the action figure. Okay. I believe

you. Alright. 1986. Oh, man. Can anybody guess?

Blue Velvet. There's only really two options

here. Platoon. Huh? Platoon. There's only really

two options here. You're either going to get

a day off or you're going to be transforming

yourself. Oh, boy. Transformers the movie. Megatron

must be stopped, no matter the cost. I thought

about going with Ferris Bueller's Day Off because,

you know, it's Ferris, but it has to come to

Transformers because without Knight Rider, without

Transformers, without He -Man and the Masters

of the Universe, without Thundercats and without

Mask, without those five things. in the 80s i

probably and later well 86 this will translate

to when we do the tv version of this without

alph i would probably not be the person that

i am today if those things never happened but

transformers the movie need i say more we have

so many various different versions of commentaries

and discussions here at the geek castrated network

of transformers the movie i can link several

of them in the show notes folks it's transformers

the movie You want to know something? Uh -oh.

I'm scared. I have waited like this whole episode.

Now I get to say it. I get to say it. My turn.

I've never seen that movie. Okay. 1987. 1987

had a lot. But again, it goes to the sequel I

saw before the first one and the sequel that

I think is the best 80s sequel when it comes

to action movies beverly hills cop 2 are you

driving with your eyes open are you like using

the force at least when it comes to 80s action

sequels beverly hills cop 2 nail like the first

one is great the first one is amazing it does

everything that it's supposed to do but the second

one just axle get out of the goddamn pool Like,

you know, just everything. Absolutely love that.

And the Harold Foltermeyer score from the first

film to the second film, just, oh, man. I love

that movie. 100 % love that movie. 1988. 1988.

At first, I only had one listed. And then as

we were talking, I was like, hey, wait a minute.

I have to throw something else on here. Not because

I'm going to pick it, but because I want to talk

about it. the shack is back everybody loves the

goddamn gopher i don't care what anybody says

everybody loves the gopher that's what i say

i know but everybody does i say it too if you

don't love the gopher there's something wrong

with you i try to remember is like was the gopher

frank welker i think it was frank welker but

i could be wrong If I'm wrong, I'll correct myself

in another episode down the line. Anyway, the

reason, other than the gopher, the reason why

I, the two reasons, one is a very stupid reason,

but the two reasons why I love Caddyshack 2.

You got Kenny Loggins back with a different song,

with a new song, which is Nobody's Fool, which

I love that song. Absolutely love it. And that

opening scene where Jonathan Silverman is running

across because little Miss Priss there wants

a diet root beer. And the root beer company that

they got to do it was Hires Root Beer, which

is a New England company. And that's the stupid

reason why I love this movie is because it's

from where I'm originally from kind of thing.

So, but I just absolutely love Caddyshack 2.

But no, the one, my actual pick for 1988 is Ryan

Brown. And a little lone guy who is, you know,

just came off being a fighter pilot in 1986.

Just came off assignment at Top Gun. 1988's Cocktail.

I don't drink, but I love this fucking movie.

This movie, Cocktail, has the best 80s live action,

one of the best, I'm not going to say the best,

one of the best soundtracks ever in the 80s.

And it's just about... a regular guy who's getting

home from the army and he's trying to figure

out his life and what he wants to do and how

he wants to go about doing it and he falls into

bartending and how that can make him a doesn't

make him a billion but his big thing in the movie

is he wants to make a million bucks and he wants

the wants the american dream and this that the

other thing and To tie it back into Back to the

Future, Elizabeth Shue ends up being his girlfriend

in this movie. So you got, because she will eventually

replace, oh, what's her name? Was it Elizabeth

Shue? Claudia Wells. Huh? Was it Elizabeth Shue

who was Jennifer in the two and three? In two

and three, yes. It was Claudia Wells in the first

movie. But yeah, so yeah, Cocktail. I absolutely

love Cocktail. Cocktail introduced me to Brian

Brown, who would then go on... You're right,

you're right, you're right. Never mind, never

mind. I'm getting my brain mixed up with Leah

Thompson, who was... The mother. The mother,

yes. Yeah. My bad, my bad. It's okay, it's okay.

But Cocktail introduced me to Brian Brown, who

I would eventually then go on to see on television,

because the movie was on, you know, hey... This

week's movie is blah, blah, blah. I would then

go on to see him on FX and FX2. Yeah, FX is really

good. I was going to ask you to see that. I love

those movies. I need to get them on Blu -ray,

4K, whatever. I can't wait. But yeah, Cocktail

for 1988 would be my 1988 choice. 1989, this

is rough. Because I scrolled through 1989 fairly

fast. And I really only put one thing on here.

I didn't like every other year. I pretty much

looked through because the way I did it was on

And I am not picking Batman. Because my Batman

story. No, no, no. I understand. I don't know

if I said this in your episode, but my Batman

story is I saw it like one or two years later

in a JCPenney. I mean, you picked Tron. Yeah,

well... Which is on 2010. Uh -huh. Yeah, yeah.

But what... 89. Oh, God. I swear, was that movie

in here? Here, let's just do it this way. So

anyway, 89, one of my choices was going to be...

Yeah. It's not a tie, but the choices I am wrestling

with are... The first thing I wrote down and

the only thing I wrote down was Last Crusade.

And then the choice that I just thought of was

Uncle Buck with John Candy, Macaulay Culkin.

And as much as I love Last Crusade, and as much

as I love Indy, I gotta give it to Buck. Because

damn, if that's not one of his best comedies

he ever did. Just, it's so good. Again, you have

a character who, it seems, he seems to be this

guy who, knows everybody this guy who seems to

be this hard worker but at the same time he seems

to be a slacker everybody thinks he's he's this

lazy good for nothing even though he's not it's

john candy and it's just so funny here's a quarter

why don't you take this and go down to wherever

and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face

when he's talking to the principal Like, just,

oh man. And this is essentially a year before,

yeah, because Home Alone came out in 90, right?

Yeah. Huh? Yes, it did come out in 90. Yeah,

I saw this backwards. I saw Buck after I saw

Home Alone, so I was kind of shocked in like

late 90, early 91. I was like, hey, there's Kevin

McAllister with Buck Russell. And I'm like, hey,

that's cool, younger. Oh, cool. But no, I absolutely

love it. It's so funny. It's so good. So, so

absolutely good. 1990, again, wrestling between

two things here. Dick Tracy was one choice. And

then the only choice I can go with is Lean Mean

Green. And on the screen. Hey, dudes, this ain't

no cartoon. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I know.

They did it. They did it. It's... I mean, I think

the... For a lot of people, I think they were

disappointed because it was more like the comic

book than the cartoon. But I think it's a good

film. Yeah, it was... So they kept bits and pieces

of each. They added a little bit more seriousness.

I think that's why the sequel. Yeah, it was a

lot more serious. The second one was goofy, but

the first one was pretty serious. Yeah, the first

one was pretty serious. There are a lot of good

funny moments. What's the Donnie and Casey? Dome

head. Elf lips. Gak face. When they're fixing

the thing up in the farm. When they're fixing

the truck. between Donnie and Casey, they go

back and forth. There are funny moments that,

you know, I'm not saying, no, I'm not saying

it's like, you know, but like, you know, but

it's, but it's not, it doesn't have the ninja

rap. Yeah. So going from 1987 with the cartoon,

the cartoon being what it was versus what the

comic book was in 84. And I had never read the

comic. I started with the cartoon in 87. So for

me, seeing how serious it was as a 10 year old.

Like I saw it in theaters as a 10 year old. Yeah.

Yes, folks. We are, we are old men. He's an older,

I mean, I also was first introduced to it with

the cartoon and the video game and the toys.

And when I got to college, someone had like all

the collections of the comics of the comics.

Yeah. Yeah. And. I'm only doing this because

we're recording this in the moment, folks. We're

recording this. What the hell is today's date?

It's six, I believe. Yep. Okay. We're recording

this July 26, 2025. And recently Hulk Hogan has

passed away. One of the choices I wrote down,

even though it is not my choice, but one of my

choices I wrote down was 1991 Suburban Commando.

Because that was the only movie I ever saw Hulk

Hogan in. And it was just a funny... You never

saw Rocky III? Okay. You never saw Gremlins 2?

Depending on the cut? Wait, I don't remember

him in Gremlins 2. The film breaks. And he starts

yelling at the, he's in the audience and he starts

yelling at the gremlins. You want to face me,

brother? That's right. That's yeah. I just saw

that. Okay. That's right. I just saw that clip

too. Oh my God. How did I forget that? Okay.

Yes, I did see, but like Rocky three to me is,

is yeah, he's not the star. I mean, I will concede

he's not the star of the movie, but he's in it.

Oh yeah. Like I'm like 90 % sure that's the first

time I ever saw Hulk Hogan. Oh, I'm sure. And

for me, and I think I said this last time, I

could be wrong, but for me, I actually got to

see him. I think it was May 3rd, 1986. Yeah,

May 3rd, 1986. I think it's the Providence Civic

Center in Providence, Rhode Island. It was him

and Junkyard Dog, who has been gone now for a

long time. They were teaming up against the Funk

Brothers. Terry Funk and Dory Funk. And I, my

dad took me and all man, like, I don't remember,

like, I remember us being there. I don't remember

what the hell we saw, but I just remember the,

the just being there and seeing Hulk Hogan and

junkyard dog team up against somebody was so

cool. So suburban commando was an honorable mention

kind of thing, but 1991. It was an all -out bloodbath

between Bangarang or you ooze, you lose. So Bangarang,

we all know, is Hook because it's Robin and it's

Dustin and it's Peter versus Captain James Hook.

And it's... God. Every movie Robin was ever in.

Every comedy, every everything. Jesus Christ.

Holy crap. But yeah, no. Turtles 2 wins because,

again, I was at the theater. I saw the movie.

And that opening pizza scene. Oh, my God. The

opening pizza scene. I still quote, I think it's

Mikey that does it. He turns, at the end of the

movie, he turns the knobs. He's like, full volume.

And then they blow the speakers out at the end.

It did end Back to the Future. Yes, I know they

did that in Bags of the Future. Like six years

earlier. Yes, everything copies everything else.

That's a pretty specific joke. Yeah, true. But

TMNT 2, just absolutely. It's just... That was

the first time. Now, remember this. You've already

called me out several times about, oh, you didn't

see Tron until 2010. Because that's your excuse

for some other things. It's like, well, I didn't

see it until later. And then you picked a movie

that you didn't see until later. Well, yeah.

It's a reason. It seems very convenient. Well,

no, it's not convenient. It's because I want

to, specifically to the Tron pic, The reason

why I didn't talk too much about it is because

I'm going to talk about it, exploring it and

finding it together with, because I picked Tron

Legacy for 2010. So I'm going to talk about them

together. I don't want to have to, the story

goes together. So for TMNT 2, the reason why

I say about the Tron thing, this was the first

time I had ever seen Because this is a year before

Batman the Animated Series. First time I'd ever

seen David Warner. David Warner would go on to

Batman the Animated Series voicing Ra's al Ghul.

So, yeah. 1992, Home Alone 2. Lost in New York.

And it's for one thing, and I always wanted one.

Thank God I never got one, because it is what

it is. But I wanted that damn Talkboy recorder

so much. As a 12 -year -old in 1992. Like, give

me that damn thing. Let me just pull it through

the TV. But other than that, I thought it was

a nice way to do a sequel to the original film.

Did the original film need a sequel? No. But

since they did have such a hit on their hands

with the first movie, I like what they did with

the second movie. I like that. I like all the

antics Kevin does in the second movie. I like

the fact that they tie in his uncle. I think

it's his Uncle Rob's townhouse. I think it's

what he says. And I have an Uncle Robert, so

that kind of fits. Uncle Robert doesn't have

a townhouse, but at least I don't think he does.

I don't know. But, you know, I like that. I like

Harry and Marv. Actually, it's funny because

a good portion of my Funko Pop collection, I

have to be Home Alone complete. I have almost

every Home Alone Funko Pop they have released,

and they just announced, again, as of July, Home

Alone 2 Funko Pops coming, and one of them is

with Harry with the blowtorch hair. So, yeah,

Home Alone 2 for 1992. 1993... 1993 was kind

of... There was a lot of stuff. I'm trying to

think if there was... Obviously, the one I would

probably go for would be TMNT 3, but... Nah.

I found this about a year or so later, and I

didn't know what it was, but it slowly became

one of my favorite films, and I own two copies

of it. I wish I had a high def copy of it, but

I literally own two versions, two of the same

copies of it on DVD. Because at one point I thought

I lost it, so I just bought it again. It's a

little film called Airborne. You are not my cousin.

Oh, come on, I give up. Popeye, now there was

a great man. Do you know why? Never joined the

hair club for men? Wrong. Because his motto was,

I am what I am. Do you think Popeye ever worried

about what he wore to so he could get olive oil

in the sack? I should say not, dude. And do you

know why? He was gay. Because he is what he is.

It's a film starring Shane McDermott, Chris Conrad,

Jack Black. I believe this is one of Jack Black's

earliest movies. It also stars Seth Green. I

believe this is one of his earliest movies as

well. And it's basically about this. California

surfer dude whose parents... Oh, it has Edie

McClurg in it. Edie McClurg, the secretary. She

was in a lot of stuff. Yep. She was the secretary

in Ferris Bueller. He's a righteous dude. She

was the airline lady in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

Well then, I guess you're fucked. It was in Star

Trek. She got turned into a styrofoam cube and

crushed. He was a red shirt. Oh, boy. Oh, no.

That's never good. Yeah, but this movie is basically

California surfer boy, his parents. have this

week that there's zoologists or something and

they have to go to australia and he's like sweet

we're going to australia and they're like yeah

you can't miss three months of school you're

going to cincinnati to live with your aunt and

uncle cincinnati huh so he has to evolve but

because he's a california surfer dude he also

skateboards and rollerblades and whatever so

he figures it out and does this whole rollerblading

thing and they It was one of the only movies

I think the, um, Oh, cause Chris Conrad's in

it. Chris Conrad was part of the, was it team,

not team extreme, but, um, it was a rollerblading

team, really famous rollerblading team. I just

absolutely love the movie cause it's a very like

down home, very early nineties. Not, I wouldn't

classify it as a romantic comedy, but it was

kind of like a, I don't know how you'd classify

it, and I'm not looking at the Wikipedia article,

but yeah, Airborne. 1994, there are a lot in

94. The 94 for me was also another bloodbath,

but I don't know how often anyone talks about

this movie. I've covered it a couple of times

on various podcasts here at the Geekcast Radio

Network. I think Steve and I just did an episode

on it recently, maybe last year for its 30th

anniversary. I think we did. I don't remember.

Now, again, 94 has a lot, but the one I chose

because I remember when it came out, I was like,

damn, if only that would work, but that would

never work. Disney's Blank Check. Blank Check.

I remember that movie. I got dragged to it. I

was literally babysitting my cousins. And they

talked me into going to the mall, which was a

mistake. And then I ended up taking them to Blank

Check. Oh, man. That's a freaking movie. So this

stars Brian Bonzell, Karen Duffy, Miguel Ferrer,

who passed away recently, I think, didn't he?

Not recently, but he has passed away. Because

he didn't make the Twin Peaks reunion, which

sucked. Yeah, it sucked. It has Michael Lerner

in it. It has Tone Loke in it. I can't remember

the guy's name, but the main antagonist was the

guy who was in Private Parts, and he was in a

lot of stuff. I can't remember his name. He's

in a poster with the blue dye on his face. Huh?

Are we talking about the same blank check? Like

a jerk? No, no, no. You're thinking of something

from 2002. I will get to that. You're thinking

of... I don't think I am. Blue dye on his face?

You're thinking of Big Fat Liar. You're thinking

of... No, blank check. No. Okay, maybe I'm mixing

up those movies, but I thought... Yeah, you're

thinking of Paul... The boy who inherits a blank

check and uses it to buy a house under an alter

ego. Yep. But is soon searched by several members

of the bank. Wait. Maybe I'm thinking of Big

Fat Liar. Yeah, you are thinking of Big Fat Liar.

Because that's Paul Giamatti. That's Paul Giamatti

is who I'm thinking of. Yeah, that's not this

movie. Because Miguel Ferrer is the villain,

Carl Quigley, a .k .a. Mr. McIntosh. Wait, does

Big Fat Liar also involve a blank check? No.

I will get to that. That's the 2002 era. Okay.

Okay, well, I believe I established in the previous

episode that I'm very old. It's okay. And easily

confused by things. I know it's a blank check

because I know it revolved around a blank check.

Yes, yes. But just in my brain, I am absolutely

Mandela affecting Paul Giamatti being in that

movie. No, he's not. He's not. So Miguel Ferrer

plays the bad guy, Mr. McIntosh. Is he like a

criminal? Yes, he's a criminal. He breaks out

of prison. And he wants the embezzled money that

the bank manager has, has been keeping for him.

But because Preston, AKA Mr. McIntosh kid, the

kid, his grandmother sent him a check for like

a hundred dollars or something for his birthday.

And he goes onto his computer and he makes it,

or no, he goes into the bank to, It doesn't get

hit by... He hits him with a car and he just

hands him a blank check. Yes, that's what it

is. Yep, yep, yep. And then he goes home and

he puts in $1 million, goes to the bank the next

day, and that money then comes from the Quigley,

aka the Miguel Ferrer character. He basically

takes the embezzled money. That's where Preston

gets the, that's where Brian, the Brian Bonzell,

the kid character gets the money. So that sends

Miguel Ferrer's evil character and Tone Loke,

who is his henchman after the kid. And then they

have to chase him everywhere. And he has to buy

all this stuff. And he meets this guy, this chauffeur

named Henry that he has, and they do all this

stuff and they buy this house and they do all

this stuff. That's not Big Fat Liar. We'll get

to the Big Fat Liar. 1995, 30 years ago this

year. There are a lot in this, but there is only

one. Honorable mention would go to Money Train,

because I love Wesley and Woody in that movie,

and that movie is awesome. That movie also stars,

I think, one of, if not Jennifer Lopez's debuts

in film? It's either her debut or it's one of

her earliest movies, because I know she was on

In Living Color right before that. However, even

though there is a lot of films in 1995 like Die

Hard with a Vengeance and a bunch of other things,

1995 for me goes to my Bond era, which is the

Brosnan era, because Brosnan brought it back

with Goldeneye. Beg your pardon? Forgot to knock.

Before this, I had watched several of the Roger

Moore era movies. Man with the Golden Gun is

my top Roger Moore movie. After that, I had seen

License to Kill, but I had not seen The Living

Daylights as a kid. Timothy Dalton's okay as

Bond, but... Yeah. Pierce Brosnan, man, Goldeneye,

I saw this movie so many times that year, and

I just love watching this movie, and this movie

will be covered later this year on this podcast

for its 30th anniversary. So yeah, Goldeneye

for 95. 96 had a lot. This is where I started

getting into tough choices. You had Mission Impossible,

you had Phenomenon, you had Space Jam, you had

F .L .E .D., and you had my first ever theatrical

adventure into the five -year mission. First

time I ever saw a Star Trek movie in theaters.

First contact. Unfortunately... The choice has

to go to Tom Cruise and Mission Impossible because

that was just too damn good. I can recite lines

from that, like Emilio Estevez as Jack. You know,

when he's explaining the gum, red light, green

light. Hasta lasagna, don't get any on ya. Like,

you know, just... Oh, God. Just absolutely love

the first Mission Impossible movie from 1996.

It was so cool. It was so fun. I remember being

in the theater seeing it. It was just... Man.

That franchise. I can't believe, and I had only

ever seen as a kid, I'd only ever seen like a

handful of episodes of the TV show. So I knew

what the TV show was, but I hadn't seen like

every episode or anything like that. So I was

16 at the time when that movie came out. 1997,

we have two choices here. We have The Fifth Element.

With Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman, because Gary

Oldman played the villain in that. Yeah, Zorg.

Zorg, I think it is. I love The Fifth Element.

I wanted to go see it in theaters again when

it came out for something for a re -release that

Fathom Events was doing a couple years ago. I

didn't get to go, but it is what it is. But I

love The Fifth Element. However... 1997 also

has the homegrown movie for me, which is Good

Will Hunting. It's a movie about a boy genius

in Southie in Massachusetts. Now, I lived south

of Boston, Kingston, Plymouth, Plimpton area.

A lot of people aren't going to, unless you look

at a map, you're not going to know. But basically,

that's an hour and a half, hour, hour and a half

south of Boston. That whole area is basically

in between Boston and Cape Cod in Massachusetts.

And when that movie came out with Ben Affleck

and Matt Damon and Mimi Driver and Robin Williams,

I was not going to forget. I was trying to pause

and let my breath catch before I said his name

again. Son of a bitch, he stole my line. Just,

oh, God. It's so, so good. I absolutely love

that. I think that is the first movie I had ever

seen Stellan Skarsgård in as Professor Lambeau,

who is Sean's sort of rival professor, friend,

whatever you want to call him. Because then Stellan

would go on to play certain Marvel characters

and other things and whatever. So, yeah. But

Good Will Hunting, that's another one I will

watch over and over again when I have the time

to do so when I'm not preparing for podcasts

and other things. 1998. There are plenty of choices

here, but I only wrote one down because it was

the first thing that popped into my head. What

if Batman was a snowman? That's why the last

person you see before you go to sleep every night

is Wayne Gretzky on your wall, right? Tell you

what. We're here. Let's work on the J -shot.

Michael Keaton. Kelly Preston. May she rest in

peace because she's been gone for a while now.

Yeah. It's when Michael Keaton. got turned into

a snowman for a movie because in the movie, the

kid's dad dies and he turns into a snowman and

comes back and helps the kid. I just love, I

love what I love about Jack Frost is that. The

kid gets to have a relationship with his dad

that he didn't have before because his dad is

a musician in the movie and his dad is always

on the road and always doing gigs and always

doing this, that, and the other thing and everything

else. And I get that because his dad is trying

to provide for the family in that way of being

a musician. And on top of that, you get to hear

Michael Keaton's amazing pipes singing Christmas

music. You ain't heard nothing until you hear

Batman singing Frosty the Snowman. Absolutely

love it. 1999, there was two choices here. The

Thomas Crown Affair with Pierce Brosnan and Rene

Russo. I forget who else is in that off the top

of my head because, again, I'm not looking at

Wikipedia. And then the actual choice, which

is, it's going to start a trend because this

was his U .S. film debut. But in 1999, 10 Things

I Hate About You was the film debut of Heath

Ledger. In the United States of America. Before

that, he did stuff in Australia where he's originally

from, things like that. And I have since seen,

because it just hit its 25th anniversary recently

last year, I think it was. Yeah, last year. I've

seen the director on Instagram. I've seen clips

of the director talking about Heath and the audition

process and things like that. And basically.

The director said, you know, we don't know this

guy. It's a favor for this agent or that agent

or whatever. Heath comes in, he reads the lines,

he does good. And then the director's like, hey,

I kind of want to see if you can do some improv,

yada, yada, yada, yada, yada. And he goes, okay,

thank you so much. And we'll be in touch with

you. We'll let you know if you got the part,

et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Heath leaves.

The director tells the story, he says, there

are five casting ladies in this room with him.

He goes, ladies, I don't care what you have to

do, but that's the guy for Patrick Verona in

10 Things I Hate About You. Hire him now. We

don't need to see anybody else. So I love hearing

those stories from the director. And that movie

is just, it's... Are you a Shakespeare fan at

all? I mean, I've taken classes on Shakespeare.

I've read Shakespeare. Okay, but are you... In

terms of movies, it depends on the movie. I'm

familiar with the... I remember that that was

based on something. It's based on Taming of the

Shrew. Taming of the Shrew, okay. I'm not particularly

familiar with. Okay, so basically, you have...

I mean, I know the story that the guy wants to

marry the... sister, but she's got this older

sister who's a nightmare. And so they hook her

up with this other guy who... And then it's like,

kiss me, Kate. Yeah, pretty much, yeah. They

didn't have any sort of moonlighting on that.

Yeah, so basically they did kind of the same

thing here, where Joseph Gordon -Levitt plays

Cameron in this. Yes. plays Cameron in this,

and Larissa Olenek plays Bianca, who is the younger

sister, and he's pining over her, but the only

way he can get a date with her is because they're

the Stratford sisters, so it's Bianca and Kat

Stratford, and their dad, who is played by Larry

Miller. I love the dad. Larry Miller's a good

actor. Funny guy. I love him. Love Larry. He's

so funny in this movie, absolutely. But yeah,

10 Things I Hate About You, 1999. That's my choice

for 1999. Don't say shit like that to me. People

can hear you. You suck. You suck. 2000. 2000

is... There's a lot in 2000, but it only came

down to two, and I know, I know, I know, I know

which one I'm going with, and I know I repeated

that multiple times just now, but... It does

and it doesn't hurt to pick between the two.

The honorable mention goes to Gone in 60 Seconds.

I love that movie. I had never, I have seen it

now, but at that time in 2000, I didn't even

know Gone in 60 Seconds was a remake at the time.

So I had never seen the 1974, I think it's 74,

version. And up until 2016, when I went out to

California for the Great California Misadventure

that I had had at the time, I was perfectly fine

watching the Nicolas Cage version, because that's

the version I love. And it's just such a sleek...

and it's got Delroy Lindo in it, and that's when

I fell in love with that guy as an actor. It's

got Angelina Jolie, and it was my first introduction

to Trevor Rabin as a composer of music. I absolutely

love his music score in the movie. All this,

all that. So the California Misadventure, when

I go out to see somebody else, I also stay with

my buddy Doug and his wife. He shows me the 74

version, and I'm like, Thank God they remade

it and did it better. Cause you 74 version was

just kind of there for me, but my choice and

the only choice that could be made for me is

a Don Bluth film. It is. What if the world blew

up? What if, what if, You had to think about

life after Earth. Titan A .E. Yeah, well, having

your planet blown up can have that effect on

a species. But maybe I've been wrong all these

years and it took your inspiring speech to make

me see it. You've really changed me. It's beautiful.

I think we got a hug. Oh, man. They've really

ground you down. Hey, get this straight. I don't

even know you. I don't want any part of your

mission and I don't need your help with these

oversized morons. Okay. Oh my God. I was in a

video store and I saw like, I didn't even, I

don't even remember seeing this in theaters.

I probably did, but I don't, I, what I remember

is all I remember about this movie. is seeing

whatever video package videos, whatever package

of the video store got to advertise it on their,

their screens. I remember hearing Matt Damon

and Drew Barrymore as the characters. And I remember

hearing creeds higher as the promotional song.

And I'm just like, okay, you got me. And we've

done the lane is in that too. Yeah. Yeah, he's

in it. He has the line, an intelligent guard.

Who would have known? Who would have known? Yep.

He plays Pryd. John Leguizamo plays Goon. Janine

Grilofalo, or whatever her name is, she plays

Stan. Yeah, you're pretty close. Yeah. But yeah,

no, Bill Pullman plays Joseph Corso. I love this

movie because it's... What if it is, what would

happen? What would, it's a future, like it's

a future we will never see. Meaning that this

is the 30th or 31st century or whatever you are.

Like it's 3028. It's all of this stuff. Like

it's, it's all like, it's the year 3000 types.

Like we're never going to see it. We, you and

I are never going to see that. Like, okay, fine.

Great. Cool. But, like, it's that, and it's also

reminding us of what we had at the forefront

of where we are now at the same time. And the

music, oh, the music. I am so tied to music when

it comes to certain movies and things, as people

can clearly tell. Yeah, Titan AE for 2000. That's

the choice. 2001, it's easy. And it goes back

to Heath. A Knight's Tale. Hands down. There

was no other choice. I didn't even have to look.

I was like, 2001, A Knight's Tale. And it's basically

knights jousting horseback, etc. I believe he's

lowborn, but he wants to become a knight. And

the gimmick is that they do modern songs. Yes.

It's like a musical that breaks into modern songs.

Like at the Jazz Concert they do We Will Rock

You. And Paul Bettany is Chaucer. Jeffrey Chaucer.

Yes, he is. One of his early roles. If not his

first. Yeah, absolutely. I missed my introduction!

Days like these are far too rare to cheapen with

heavy -handed words. And so, I'm afraid, without

any ado whatsoever, excuse me, my lord, here

the son of John Thatcher. So it's funny because

when it was either Infinity War or Endgame, I

forget which one, when one of those films came

out, it was either, yeah, I think they had Vision

on top and then Chaucer on the bottom. This is

how you know Paul Bettany. This is how I know

Paul Bettany kind of thing. Yeah, I've seen that.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've seen that meme. Oh, God,

I love. I love A Knight's Tale. And I love it

for that exact reason, that it feels like the

olden days, but it also feels like modern times

because of the modern. music that was used kind

of thing they've got david bowie songs in there

and and oh man so good so so i just oh man i

absolutely love that movie it just hit i think

it just hit or it's about to hit 4k release i

have to have it i cannot wait to see it in 4k

oh man i was at the theater when like i was at

the theater opening night opening day to see

that movie. And again, for me, once I see a trailer,

if I like it after seeing the trailer, I will

do my best to see it in the theater. At least

back then, I would do my best to see it in the

theater. Now I'm just like, okay, I can wait

because I don't like going to theaters anymore.

2002 has several choices, but there is only one

choice for 2002 because it was the movie I saw

five times in one day. Literally, five times

in one day. But 2002 has A Walk to Remember,

Life or Something Like It, and Big Fat Liar.

There is the actual choice that I will mention

later, but those are the other ones I wanted

to list really quickly. A Walk to Remember is

the Mandy Moore, Shane West, I think? is who's

in that with her so there's that that was based

off of nicholas spark's book life or something

like it is it's got monk in it it's got tony

shalhoub it's got angelina jolie it's got a bunch

it's it was all right it was a nice little romantic

comedy but as we mentioned earlier big fat liar

paul giamatti i remember the line from uh from

the from the tow truck guy They told me to pick

up a little blue car. They didn't say anything

about a little blue man. Because the reason why

Paul Giamatti is blue is because Frankie Muniz,

Malcolm in the Middle, and Amanda Bynes put blue

dye in his pool as a prank. Because Paul Giamatti

plays Marty Wolf from Marty Wolf Pictures. And

Big Fat Liar is Frankie Muniz's character. jason

something i forget what his last name is for

the character name but it's him and he's always

lying and he's always telling stories and he's

always doing this and doing that to get out of

whatever and he writes this story and marty finds

it and because he hits him with his car like

you said And he takes the story and he turns

it into this multi -million dollar movie deal.

And you have all these stars in there. You got

Jaleel White doing a cameo. You got Lee Majors

doing a cameo. You got all this stuff. And it's

just a nice little funny comedy. It was the first

time I had ever seen a Sean Levy movie. So that

was directed by Sean Levy. I think it was also

written by him, but I could be wrong. and sean

levy will came up obvious last episode on on

your list because he's not coming up on mine

we can mention him again but uh he's not coming

up on my list past this this film here but the

choice the movie i saw five times in 2002 first

time and i remember this so clearly i actually

wrote up a blog post about this last year a couple

years ago i forget when I remember in 2001 when

they did the promotional. Next summer, you're

going to go for the ultimate spin. At the time,

my girlfriend and I got into a huge fight about

something. I don't know what the hell it was.

Don't freaking remember. And it wasn't about

whether we were going to go see it or not. or

whatever. It had nothing to do with that. It

was about something completely different. But

it was May 3rd, 2000. It was May 2nd, May 1st,

May 2nd, whatever, when we had the argument.

And I was like, okay, fine, whatever. And May

3rd, I was like, I'm going to see this movie.

If you want to come see it with me, great. Not

whatever. I think I went to a morning show. And

then I went to four other shows after, and all

I did, luckily back then, you could still do

this and kind of sort of get away with it. Paid

for one show, hopped to the other four shows.

Spider -Man, don't you know? Because, damn. Go,

Webb, go! Coming from someone who was 14 years

old in 1994 and growing up with Spider -Man the

Animated Series and fast -forwarding to 2002

and seeing, okay, yeah, say what you want about

the Green Goblin costume. Fine, whatever. Say

what you want about the mask. It's fine. It's

not that big a friggin' deal. It works. It's

whatever. Other than that, the web swinging was

great. His costume looked great. For 2002, it

was amazing. Yeah. Oh, absolutely. No, no, no.

I'm, I'm on your side. I'm like, yeah, yeah,

it may, it may, it's aged a little bit, but I

mean, you know, we're so spoiled at this point.

Yeah. Like, yeah, it was, it was, it was pretty

mind blowing at the time. It was, it was so mind

blowing at the time. I sat there, jaw dropped

every time, every jump I did after every, every,

every time it stopped and I went to the next

theater. that i could find to to get it to whatever

in the the next showroom whatever but yeah spider

-man with toby mcguire man what oh and and kirsten

dunst is mary jane oh man and oh we can't i can't

not move on i if i move on without even mentioning

this okay you got go back to 94 you got ed asner

as the voice of J. Jonah Jameson in Spider -Man

the Animated Series. I'm going to investigate

this myself, just like that good old days. Jigsaw

Jameson is back. He's going to get to the bottom

of this puzzle. Jigsaw Jameson? J .J., something

tells me I better keep an eye on you. Perfect

casting, voice casting for that. Absolutely works.

Fast forward to 2002. Who are they going to get

in live action? They're going to get... Oh my

God. The doctor from Law and Order, J .K. Simmons.

That's the only thing I knew him from before

this. I knew him from Oz. Huh? I knew him as

Schillinger from Oz. Okay. The Nazi. Ah, okay.

But yes, like that was, that wasn't casting.

That was, no, no, that was summoning. Yeah, I

know, I know. He is J, I mean. For God's sake,

they brought him into the MCU. That's how iconic.

I know. He doesn't want to be famous, and I'll

make him infamous. And I am sorry, he doesn't

work as Commissioner Gordon. He doesn't. He didn't

get a fair shot at it. Okay, well, that's fine.

You know, there wasn't much to the role in Justice

League. I would have preferred to see a full

-on Batman film with him as Gordon. Okay, I'll

give you that. All right, 2003. God damn it.

All right, so all of the honorable mentions are

movies. One of them is a date movie that I saw

with a girl I really, really liked at the time.

The other two are just movies I absolutely love.

The date movie was The Italian Job with Wahlberg

and Theron and the late, great Donald Sutherland

was in it. I love The Italian Job. I know it

is a remake or I forget. Anyway, but I loved

it. I thought it was great. I love that movie.

I watch that movie every now and then. You got

SWAT with Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farrell

that came out that year. And then you have Uma

Thurman, the future Harvey Dent in What's His

Nuts? What's his nuts? Eckhart. Eric Eckhart.

Think of the future. And Ben Affleck. And you

also have Paul Giamatti in this movie. Paycheck.

I love Paycheck. So those are the three honorable

mentions for 2003, The Choice. And it's only

because I felt so damn guilty. I was like, no,

it's the night before your wedding. I can't do

this. And blah, blah, blah. My cousin Rachel,

who is... who is pretty much my number one cousin

for pretty much all of our young lives and everything

else, she looks at me and says, we're either

going or I'm going to kick your ass. I'm like,

okay, fine. So we go out to dinner the night

before she and her husband Joe get married, and

we go to the Kingston Independence Mall in Kingston,

Massachusetts, and we go see Daredevil. This

is before the director's cut. This is before

they did any whatever. This is the theatrical

cut. And this is two years after Nickelback released

Silverside up in 2001. So it's been two years

since I've had Nickelback music. And I, at that

time, and I still to this day, am a huge Nickelback

fan. Always have been, always will be. Don't

care what anyone says. Whatever. I'm a fan. End

of story. So we're watching the movie, watching

the movie. It starts. It starts. And we get to

the bar scene after the courtroom scene. And

I hear the music. And I'm like, wait a minute.

Wait a minute. And I just kept playing it through

my head the whole rest of the movie. And I'm

like, wait a minute. Wait a minute. Okay. Eventually,

I started paying attention to the movie again,

which I was paying attention the whole time anyway.

But anyway, so we went and saw that. But immediately

before we left the mall, I said, you guys, I've

got to go over to Record Town and see if I can

check out the soundtrack to this movie because

I need to see something. I go over to the Record

Town store over there in the mall and I get the

Daredevil soundtrack. Lo and behold. nickelback

learn the hard way i'm like what like literally

the didn't have a heart attack but literally

my lungs closed up opened up went sideways flipped

upside down i don't know literally my breath

i'm like new nickelback we haven't had new nickelback

in like two years holy crap and then later that

year they would release their new album the long

road but uh but daredevil ben affleck jennifer

gardner colin farrell joey pants joey pantaloni

is in this as ben yorick absolutely love i loved

it i thought it was great i thought they did

a great job i don't get why everyone hates on

this movie it's it's weird because like when

it first came out everyone was like saying how

great it was and then it was like they turned

on a dime And it was very bizarre. It was like,

this is the best movie ever. And then it was

like, this movie's garbage. What happened? Yeah,

and I don't know who you could have gotten. I'm

thinking 2003. What white person you could have

gotten that was the size of the comic book kingpin

to fit into that role on film. At the time, Vincent

D 'Onofrio was busy on Law & Order, and he was

nowhere near the size he needed to be. for kingpin

so i don't i never care most of the time i don't

care about casting a different way if you're

going to like change from white character to

a black character to this character to that character

if you're going to change from male to female

i don't care But Michael Clark Duncan, again,

another great actor. Before this, the last thing

I had seen him in was Armageddon. He was Bear

in Armageddon. I know he did other stuff, probably.

I don't remember when Green Mile was, but he

was J .C. Coffey in Green Mile. J .C. Coffey

in Green Mile, yep. But man, he filled out and

did... kingpin justice i believe i i fully stand

by michael clark duncan's performance as as kingpin

in daredevil and absolutely love that movie all

right 2004 2004 has oh god 2004 2005 have more

honorable mentions i think than any of the other

honorable mentions on the entire list so i'm

gonna try to go through these fast Really quick,

fast rewind to 1995. Somewhere in 1998 or so,

or maybe later, there was a film in 1995 that

came out called Before Sunrise. It was with Ethan

Hawke and Julie Delpy. It was a Richard Linklater

film. And it's about them going around, I think

it's Austria, I think. I forget. Anyway. And

it's this romantic comedy type thing. It's not

a comedy, but it's a single camera. It's a thing.

So anyway, I saw this on TV at some point, somewhere,

some way. So in 2004, they released a sequel

called Before Sunset. So when I noticed that,

I was like, oh, cool, I want to see that. So

that's an honorable mention. Did not choose that.

Taxi with Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifah. That

was hilarious. Absolutely love that movie, but

that's not the choice. Paparazzi with... Oh,

who's in that? Is it Colin Farrell? No, it's

Cole Hauser. That's who's in that. Yeah, it's

Cole Hauser. So Cole Hauser, I didn't mention

this in the Good Will Hunting bit. He was in

there. So that's where I first saw him. But Paparazzi,

iRobot with Will Smith, absolutely love that

movie. And then there's Nicolas Cage and the

beginning of a two -film set, because the third

film has not been made yet. They tried to make

a crappy Disney Plus show, but no thank you,

have not watched that. But 2004 was the start

of National Treasure. I do love that, but...

My pick is Tork. I don't think anybody except

one other person I know even knows what the hell

Tork is. Tork is basically Fast and the Furious,

but motorcycles. Sort of, kind of, not really.

It's about this guy who is trying to get from

one place to the other and... They actively make

fun of the race car people, the Fast and the

Furious people. Ice Cube is in it. It's a nice

little change of pace, and I don't see a lot

of motorcycle movies. I know there are probably

plenty of them if I actually did research on

motorcycle movies. But it's a movie that I just

really dug and I still dig to this day. I pull

it out every now and then to watch it. So, yeah.

2005. Did you watch that video I sent you about

the Dark Knight? No. I was going to visit this

morning. Okay. Well, Batman Begins is on the

honorable mentions. Fantastic Four. Fantastic

Four and Rise of the Silver Surfer, I think,

get raw deals. I think people don't really like

them because of whatever, but Evans and, uh,

chickless as Johnny and, and Ben best casting

at that time for those roles. Chris Evans is

Johnny storm is hilarious. And Michael chickless

as the thing, like it's clobbering. Oh God. Just,

he has the voice, right. And he, knows what he's

doing. He likes what he's doing. It's absolutely

hilarious and fantastic. Samuel Jackson, Ice

Cube in the XXX sequel with State of the Union.

Absolutely enjoyed that. William Defoe's in that.

Or Willem Defoe's in that. But the choice goes

back to the Boston roots and it has to be Fever

Pitch. Because the year before, after 86 years,

the Boston Red Sox Finally did it. They beat

the curse. And we won. Yeah. From 2004 to 1918

or whatever it was. It's been that long since

the Sox beat the curse. Yeah. I remember it was

a big story. And the irony was that that movie

had a completely different ending. They had to

change it because they won. Yeah, I remember

all the features from the DVD at the time. They

had to constantly change the filming because

they were constantly there at the games because

they weren't sure if the Sox were going to win

or not. So they had to constantly change the

ending of the film. But thankfully they did win.

And I just, I could do without the scene where

Jimmy is brushing her dog's teeth, but I understand

why it's there. Other than that. I really dig

fever and I can do without the scene with him

and his buddies giving him a shower because whatever,

but it is what it is. Other than that, I like

overall, it didn't really truly bother me, but

like if I was going to nitpick about it, but

I mean, it's a, that movie shows people how anal

retentive we Bostonians are about. the things

we love whether it's the red socks whether it's

music whether it's whatever like literally it's

religion for us it doesn't matter what it is

dude i remember in lost the tv show lost yeah

then uses the fact that the red socks won as

a mind -breaking technique i remember the character's

name but like the main character the doctor guy

um from party Matthew Fox's character. Yeah,

because he's a Bostonian. And his dad always

said, oh, you know, like dad always say when

the Red Sox will win, it's like a it'll never

happen thing. And Ben shows him footage of the

Red Sox winning and it breaks him. That's cool.

It's like psychological torture because they've

been on the island for like a year. All right.

2006. I don't know how many actual films there

are about Little Red Riding Hood, but the animated

Hoodwinked film from 2006 was just hilarious

because you have Christopher Warburton as the

wolf. I thought that was hilarious. I absolutely

love that. Cars. I will also mention Leroy and

Stitch because I love the Lilo and Stitch franchise.

Leroy and Stitch was the last, the finale of

the animated films for that series. But the choice

has to go to, and I can't believe I'm actually

picking this, but Mission Impossible 3 and the

Exploding Heads. Hi, JJ. You went from Star Trek

to Exploding Heads. No, you started with Exploding

Heads, and then you'll go to Star Trek. That's

later. Star Trek is 2009. Yes, yes, yes, I know.

I see it here. Yeah, Mission Impossible 3. This

was the introduction of Owen Davian, and... What

a character Owen Davian is. Holy crap. What an

evil villain he was. And yeah, that movie is

just crazy. Just absolutely crazy. I absolutely

love it. You've been listening to the Geekcast

because i'm gonna find her and i'm gonna hurt

her then i'm gonna kill you right in front of

her but before that i'm gonna make you listen

to the geekcast radio network uh 2007 2007 has

i was trying to find this photo i'll have to

but we were my mom and i were going to see national

treasure book of secrets the sequel And they

had a Simpsons couch out, I think. There was

something in 2007 right before or right as, or

maybe we were actually going to see The Simpsons.

Oh, it was probably when we were going to see

the movie. They had the Simpsons couch thing

where you could sit on it and take a picture

thing. I have a picture of myself on the Simpsons

couch somewhere on Facebook or wherever. I was

trying to find that before the show. So, Book

of Secrets from National Treasure, Die Hard 4.

The Simpsons movie are the honorable mentions,

but the winner goes to... Drumroll, please. Transformers.

The only reason why it's going to the first Transformers

live action movie is because it's the first Transformers

live action movie. And I never thought I would

ever see, none of us Transformers fans ever thought

we were going to see a first ever Transformers

live action movie in theaters or anywhere ever

at all. This first movie, it just, the only thing

that annoyed me out of this movie as far as I

remember, and we have other podcasts on geekcastradio

.com. You can go back into our archives and check

them out. The only thing to this day that annoys

the hell out of me about this first movie is

Shia LaBeouf and Sam Witwicky, his character.

Oh, my God. Oh, that kid. That's the only real

thing that annoys me. Everything else in that

movie, what they did with that movie, I absolutely

really, really enjoyed. And getting Peter...

I remember interviews with Michael Bay. If we

can't get Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, then

it's not going to work, and blah, blah, blah.

Hearing Peter Cullen's voice come out of a 50

-foot robot, even though I know technically it's

just a tennis ball in the background, but seeing

the visual effects, seeing them transform, like,

oh, it's so good. Any thoughts before I move

on, sir? Nope. Okay. 2008. 2008 was the DC versus

Marvel conundrum. And then there was the card

game. But the card game was never going to win.

I just threw that in there because I think it's

an awesome movie and I think everyone should

watch it. The card game movie is called 21. Have

you ever seen 21? No. It's got Laurence Fishburne

in it. It's got a bunch of other people in it.

It's based off of a true story about card cheating.

It's very, very cool. It's a fun little film.

It's about these college students who try to

cheat at Blackjack to make their tuition. I think

I remember hearing about that. Yeah, it's very

fun. It's a very cool movie. 2008 was DC vs.

Marvel with The Dark Knight vs. The Iron Man.

The superhero -ness and the glitz and glamour

of Iron Man versus the dark realism of Chicago

as Gotham City in the dark. I'm like, oh my god.

Is it better to be feared or respected? And I

say, is it too much to ask for both? With that

in mind, I humbly present the crown jewel of

Stark Industries' Freedom Line. It's the first

missile system to incorporate our proprietary

repulsor technology. They say the best weapon

is one you never have to fire. I respectfully

disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to

fire once. That's how Dad did it. That's how

America does it. And it's worked out pretty well

so far. Why so serious? But... I gotta go with

Tony. I love the Dark Knight. I do. I absolutely

do. I just pre -ordered the 4K triple feature

collection of all three films. That's coming

out later. I think it's, I don't know, later

this year or whenever it is. But as much as I

love The Dark Knight, as much as I love Heath

Ledger as the Joker, Heath Ledger as the Joker,

it's like... If that was a young Mark Hamill.

Yeah, but we already got that. He was on The

Flash as the trickster. Yeah, okay, fine. I'm

just saying we got it. I mean, I'm not saying

that in a negative way. I'm saying you can't

go, oh, if only it was Mark Hamill. Mark Hamill

did it. I mean, where do you think the Joker

came from? I know. The great thing is then when

they did the new Flash, they brought it back

as this. Both as the same character? Yeah, I

know. I remember. No, but I'm saying that's where

I think that they... And I could be wrong. I

might have to watch some more producer clips

or something. There's a graphic novel that they...

Right. I know. That's where they got Heath Ledger's

character from. Right, but I'm saying there's

some... I don't know. There is some dark moments.

What was it, Tom Waits? His voice was supposed

to be Tom Waits, I think. Ooh. He had a Chicago

accent. Ooh. Jeez. Anyway. I might be getting

the singer wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was

Tom Waits. I think that's what it is, probably,

yeah. He's Australian, so he doesn't really sound

like he's from Chicago. Yeah, exactly. Okay,

I will. I've been very quiet. Dark Knight is

a good film. Yes. I just, I don't like Bale's

Batman. And I think Ledger is great. He's not...

I guess I'll put it this way. He's not my Joker.

He's not how I envision Joker. He's a great character.

There's a character from the comics called Anarchy.

I'm sure you know who he is. If he was Anarchy,

I would like that film more. He's more that than

the Joker. Me. And then I also, like, it's hard

for me to love a Batman film where it ends with

Batman being chased by dogs. I'm not into it,

man. So it's one of those films, like, yeah,

I get it. It's a good film. I don't love it like

everybody else does. I have a lot of nitpicks.

Yeah, but Iron Man is the pick. Oh, yeah, and

Iron Man is the pick. Yeah. We were talking about...

J .K. Simmons as J. Jemma Jansen, not really

being cast, but just being the role. Yes. And

the weird thing is, if you actually read the

comics, Roderick Downey Jr. became Tony Stark.

Oh, absolutely. I don't think you could ever

look at the character the same way again, because

he wasn't quite like that in the comics. But

now he is. That casting is so iconic. And they're

making all this noise that after Secret War,

they're going to reboot everything. And God help

the poor soul who tries to follow up Robert Downey

Jr. as Tony Stark. Honestly, both of them. Because

Fahey has said they are recasting both Iron Man

and Cap. So anyone that follows up Evans as Steve...

Yeah, well, that's another one. That's one I

feel like... I don't know how everyone else feels

about it. I love Evans as Captain America. Me

too. I was never a fan of the comics, but I adore

one of my favorite movie lines of all time. I'm

going to be a little personal here. I am personally

an atheist. I am not religious. I am not spiritual.

I haven't been since I was a little child. Long

story short, things turned me off of religion,

and I never got in. In the first Avengers, Black

Widow says, you should stay out of this cap.

They're basically gods. And he says, there's

only one god, ma 'am, and I'm pretty sure he

doesn't dress that way. And just my heart went

boom. And it's so corny and old -fashioned, but

like the movie says, we need old -fashioned.

I love that he believes. I love that he is this

simple old -fashioned guy from the night. The

early Marvel movies are so perfectly cast. It's

mind -blowing. The Thor movies are kind of mediocre,

but Thor and Loki are so brilliantly cast. All

the casting in all of the early Marvel movies

is brilliant. Yep, absolutely. Alright, 2009.

2009 was rough because it brings back memories

because I believe... technical difficulties.

Let's move on, shall we? Alright, folks, 2009

is next up, and 2009's gonna be a little rough

because it would be two years later that we would

have lost this friend, but 2009, my buddy Optimus

Scourge, a .k .a. Gary Clark, along with Proto

Man, a .k .a. Daniel, would have done the Transformers

Revenge of the Fallen. episode of toy cast we

did a kind of a running theatrical recap that

we all went and saw the movie separately because

we all live in different areas of the country

and whatever actually i think part of man lives

up in canada but uh we all went and saw the movie

we all came back and all sat down recorded a

podcast i think it's episode four of toy cast

that we did that episode Unfortunately, Optimus

Scourge would lose his life two years later in

September of 2011, so it's been a number of years

since he's been gone. Missed that guy so much,

he would have just been geeking out, even if

the Transformers live -action movies have been

bad ever since. He just would have been geeking

out every time there would be a new Transformers

live -action movie. But Revenge of the Fallen

is not my choice, but I had to bring it up here

because I wanted to mention him and honor him

because that conversation we had in that episode,

I will try my best to remember to link it in

the show notes for you folks so you can go back

and listen to it. It was such a good conversation.

And then 2009 also had Fast and the Furious.

However, my choice is that five -year mission.

Gotta go with JJ. Gotta go with Star Trek. Because

damn, that movie. That lens flare was so good.

Are you out of your Vulcan mind? I really dug

it. I thought that they were on their way to

having a whole new cool universe of modern like

When I say modern, I mean modern looking. Like,

not, you know, the old style of the way the...

Because modern filmmaking... Yeah, the original

show is a product of its time. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

So, like, you know, I thought it was casted well

for the most part. Well, I believe as we said

in our Star Wars things, like, J .J. Abrams...

I mean, his real genius is casting. Every movie

I've seen of his has been very well cast. And

I will say, as a fan of the original series and

Next Generation and blah blah blah, this movie

should not have worked. It should have been a

disaster. It should have been an embarrassment.

And it wasn't. It worked. It was fun and it worked.

It was just a rehash of Wrath of Khan, but it

was the first rehash of Wrath of Khan, so you

kind of forgave it. Wait, no, this one wasn't.

Angry dude after character, after revenge. Nero

was after Spock. It was Wrath of Khan with Nero

as Khan and Spock as Kirk. Yeah, okay. I'm like,

wait a minute. The badness doesn't happen until

we go into darkness. Oh, no, the second one is

literally Khan. Yeah. The third one is, I can't

remember the actor's name, but he was. Again,

it was basically calm. All three of the Star

Trek movies are basically wrath of calm. Angry

dude out for revenge. It's like there's more

to Star Trek than angry dudes out for revenge.

Oh, come on, JJ. Better than the one with the

whales. It was a good one. Yeah, but Star Trek

2009, absolutely love it. 2010. 2010 was stacked,

and I had, out of the five films I have listed,

I... I switched between three of them before

I made my final choice, which my final choice

is Tron Legacy, which we will talk about Tron

and Tron Legacy here in a moment. But the other

options were Toy Story 3, The A -Team, Iron Man

2, and Despicable Me. So the only one I really

want to highlight, I'll say this about Toy Story

3. Toy Story 3 should have been the finale. There

should not have been a Toy Story 4. Agreed. Toy

Story 3 was perfect. It sent it off well. I don't

know what the hell they're going to do with Toy

Story 5. I will watch the trailer whenever it

drops, but I did not really care for Toy Story

4 that much. I tried watching it. I did watch

it all the way through, but it wasn't my favorite.

Toy Story 2 is way better than Toy Story 4. Toy

Story 2 is one of the best films. If we were

doing a favorite film of all time list, it would

be top five for me. Oh yeah, easily. The A -Team,

I know a lot of people hate this movie. I liked

it just because... I didn't hate it, but I mean...

It's... It's the show minus a lot of the... special

character bits, like special finesse of the show,

but it's a modern, sleek, cut -down, two -hour

version of the show kind of thing, where instead

of having five days of an hour -long show, you

have just two hours of whatever. I still go back

and watch this once in a while. Iron Man 2 is

Iron Man 2. It was okay. I don't know. I don't

have as much attachment to Iron Man 2 as I do

Iron Man 3, so there's that. Despicable Me, I

love that movie. It's so fun. So, Tron and Tron

Legacy. So, I wanted to obviously see the first

movie before I saw the sequel. So, I'm like,

this is 2010, and I'm like, okay, there's no

Disney +, and I didn't say that then, but I'm

like, now. uh there's no this there's no that

where can i find tron where can i find this probably

found it through some nefarious source or whatever

and i watched tron i'm like oh okay this is what

everyone's been talking about since 1982 this

is really cool this is Very retro, because again,

2010 compared to 82 when I was two years old,

and I really dug the first Tron movie. I thought

it was really fun. I thought it was really cool

and really great. I thought it was very interesting.

This whole idea of, again, being able to escape

into another world. That's what we've been trying

to do our whole lives. That's what we do with

podcasting. That's what we do with watching entertainment,

is we escape into another world outside of real

life. Cool. Awesome. Absolutely loved it. Love

the light cycles. Light cycles are awesome. The

disc battles could have been a little bit better.

In Tron, I think, little, just like half a smidge

better. But yeah, no, I absolutely loved it.

I thought it was a great film, the original Tron.

Tron Legacy? Oh, I loved it. I... It just hit

on all cylinders. They did everything so well.

I wish we were getting more of this. I wish they

hadn't waited so goddamn long. Because this is

2010, we're now in 2025. I wish Bruce was still

involved, but he's not, unfortunately. But this

was, Tron Legacy was so cool, and it was so fun.

Just absolutely love it. You have anything to

say about 2010? I have two things to say. Number

one, very quickly, one of the best soundtracks

ever. Absolutely. I'm a little brokenhearted

that Daft Punk broke up, because I would love

for them to do the sequel, whatever it is, Ares.

It's a thing I have two copies of, because I

have one in the car. The other thing is, as we

are recording this, Comic -Con is currently taking

place. Yes. And back in 2010, I was with a website,

and we were covering Comic -Con. And they wanted

to walk all over the city, and I didn't want

to walk all over. But they kept dragging me all

these places. And one of the places they dragged

me to was there was a hidden pop -up. Apparently

that's the thing they do in San Diego during

Comic -Con. It's a hidden pop -up store or facility

or thing. They had one for Tron. The front of

it is Flynn's Arcade. There's a little passageway

and you see a little device that digitizes you.

In the back was the bar from Tron Legacy. They

had this huge screen and they were playing the

trailer. It hadn't come out yet. They were playing

the trailer over and over again. And it had the

Daft Punk music. And there were all these LED

lights throughout the entire bar, and they were

set to go with the music. So the music would

hit a beat, and the lights would change. I mean,

for being a grumpy old sourpuss and not wanting

to go, it was really cool. And I still have one

of the things you got, because the arcade was

an actual arcade. There were actual video games.

You had one of those little 80s rubber coin purses,

you know, that Milhouse had one in Simpsons.

Yep. Filled with Flynn's Arcade tokens. Oh, wow.

That is so cool. And I have all of them but one

because the girl I was with at the time, her

son really loved Tron, so I gave him one of the

tokens. Oh, very cool. Very cool, very cool.

Yeah, I wish Daft Punk didn't break up either

because, damn, that would be so cool. I love

their music. Their music is so good in this and

the original and all that stuff. I absolutely

love it. 2011 has three honorable mentions. Cars

2. I don't care what anyone says. It's an honorable

mention. Even then. I'm not so quietly rolling

my eyes. I apologize. I like Cars 2. I like Cars

2 because it has... Oh, what's his name? Michael

Caine. Yes, Michael Caine. Thank you. Finn McMissile.

Yeah. There's a couple of jokes in there that

I really like in that movie. Mission Impossible

Ghost Protocol, which is basically MI4, because,

I mean, you get to see him run up the wall and

then lay on top of the wall. That's just wow.

And then the third honorable mention is Phineas

and Ferb across the second dimension. But the

choice has to go to Fast Five because this is

where they changed the franchise from just being

race cars to being heist films. And Fast Five

is just man. Oh, boy. It's just so good. That

movie just lifted the franchise. Fast Five, Six,

and Seven as a trilogy within that franchise.

Just perfect trilogy within that franchise. Any

other thoughts before I move on to 2012? No?

Is that a no, I guess? I saw the first three

minutes of Fast and the Furious 2, I think. It

was very colorful. Yes, it was. Too Fast, Too

Furious was very, very colorful. They were in

Miami, after all. I think that was a Japan one.

Oh, then you saw Tokyo Drift. That's the third

movie from 2006. I don't know. The cars were

all... Every car, and then the girls with the

cars were color -coordinated. It was like a comic

book. Oh, well, that was probably too fast, too

furious. They were not in Japan. It was endlessly

fascinating, and then I found something else

to do. All right, 2012. The year is 2012, and

the only two choices are I'm going to wreck it,

and then we've got to assemble. So you've got

to wreck it with Wreck -It Ralph, and then Avengers

assemble. And the choice is Avengers. I love

Wreck -It Ralph. I love Ralph Breaks the Internet.

I love both those movies. But Avengers, man,

that phase leading up to that movie. And that

movie just, we talked about it in your choices.

Yeah. That movie just hit every cylinder. It

really did. Puny God. Again, best Hulk movie

ever made. 2013, Two Guns with Denzel and Wahlberg,

Washington and Wahlberg. We had that. I recently

just saw. Actually, I've known about that movie

since 2013, and I've always wanted to see it.

I just bought it on 4K last year, and I finally

saw it, and I was like, huh. This is really freaking

cool. I kind of love this. They made a comic

book follow -up. I haven't read it yet, but a

very, very awesome movie. But the choice is Iron

Man 3. Like I mentioned in your choices last

episode, it just, it's like Lethal Weapon with

superheroes. It really, really is. And it's because

of Shane Black being there with the writing.

Because half the time, Tony isn't in the suit.

And the other thing is, Tony is going through

psychological shit. He went through PTSD from

the Avengers. Yeah. Yeah, I know. I know. I love

seeing, like, I don't want to always see Tony

go through this, but because of that fallout

from Avengers, I love that we're not just seeing

Tony just. Oh, I'm going to go to work. I love

seeing the Fallout and the this and the that

and the whatever. I think that's awesome. Yeah,

I do too. 2014. The runners -up are John Wick,

because I didn't see it until way later, but

I absolutely love that movie. You mean like how

you saw Tron when it came out opening day? Yes,

yes, yes. Funny, funny, funny guy. But I didn't

know about it until literally I didn't really

find out. So, okay. Context. 2013, 2014, up until

2015, my mom was going through a bunch of health

stuff. I get that completely. So, kinda wasn't

really... I understand. I know you understand,

but I'm just saying, just because I'm listing

John Wick, And I will list John Wick Chapter

2 in 2017. Just because I list them doesn't mean

that I saw them. And that's one of the rules.

Just because they came out in those years doesn't

mean... Yeah, I did see John Wick when it came

out. Yeah. I didn't even know... John Wick 2

on video. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. So I didn't find

out about it until, like, I think... I forget

when my buddy Mike Powers introduced me to it,

but... Yeah, no, but John Wick, absolutely love

that. And then Winter Soldier is an honorable

mention. But for me, I don't know what it would

have looked like. I don't know if this is what

it would have... I don't know if what it ended

up being is what I thought it was going to be,

but I have been a fan of the Need for Speed video

game franchise since the 90s. And in 2014...

With Aaron Paul, they released a Need for Speed

film, and it is my go -to, another film that

I can watch anytime, anywhere, just will watch

it at all hours, whenever. I just absolutely

love it. It's a simple, just absolutely amazing,

it's a, okay. It's a simple story, and that's

why it's amazing. It's guy gets out of jail,

guy gets this offer to do this thing to clear

his name or do whatever or blah, blah, blah,

blah, blah. Guy gets in trouble, has to do that.

It's a movie that has a plot that doesn't make

my brain cells feel like a fried egg. You know,

like, I don't have to I don't have to feel like

I'm being exceptionalized here. Like, I don't

have to feel like I need to understand 70 million

different aspects of it. And the music in it

is so great. Nathan First was the composer behind

the score of it. And just, yeah, I love Need

for Speed. Just absolutely have loved that movie

ever since 2014. So that's the pick. And then,

I believe, let me make sure I have this right.

We've got two honorable mentions. We've got Avengers

2 Age of Ultron and Mission Impossible 5. So

Avengers 2, I liked it. I thought it was good.

I think the funniest thing about Age of Ultron

that I think is really cool is I think the greatest

thing that came out of that movie was all these

strings. James Spader doing the string song thing.

That was just separate from the movie. I liked

Age of Ultron. It was good, but it wasn't like,

oh my god, I had to pick it. The other thing

I will say is that Mission Impossible Rogue Nation

came out that year. I actually got to interview

the composer Joe Kramer for that movie. And I

absolutely love Rogue Nation because that sets

up Rogue Nation into Fallout. And then obviously

we have Dead Reckoning and then the final Reckoning

coming up in media release. But in April of that

year, Furious 7 was released. And Wiz Khalifa

and Charlie Puth put out... See you again. And

at that time, my mom was in the hospital. She

was not doing well. May 18th of that year, mom

would pass. So when that song came out and that

movie came out, that was the last movie that

Paul Walker was actually in. And they actually

had to digitize around him with his brothers

in some of the scenes in Furious 7. Because he

had already passed. Just the way Furious 7 ends,

I was like, okay, this is a good ending to Brian

O 'Connor's story in the Furious franchise. We're

good, we don't need another one, whatever. And

then the See You Again song comes out and it

just hits you. And ever since then, I'm just

like, oh, my God. It's like my mom dies. This

guy dies. I don't even know. But I've loved a

lot of his work that he's done in the past. I've

loved his character in these movies. And, yeah,

so Furious 7 is the 2015 pick. This time it ain't

just about being fast. Can somebody just walk

me through what we're supposed to be doing? Yo,

Roman, you need some fresh air? All right, 2016.

2016 was rough. Like, I was trying to find something

other than what I ended up picking. Because I

was trying not to be just, hey, I'm going to

pick this because, you know, this is all we have

to pick. Because this is all we have now. And

I couldn't find anything. And it's not that I

don't like this film. It's not that I actually

don't love this film. It's not that I don't actually...

It's not that I didn't actually love everybody

going forward and making their choices of, well,

whose side are you going to choose? Whose side

are you going to choose? What team are you going

to be on? But I was really... Literally, I looked

through the 2016 film list three times. To see

if there were any other films in 2016 that I

could pick other than Civil War. But at the end

of the day, I had to pick Civil War because damn

if Civil War isn't just... The funny thing is,

I stopped and I re -watched like four clips on

YouTube from Civil War. And I'm like, yeah, that's

the pick. Because you got everybody doing their

thing. I don't even care about the debut of Spider

-Man. I mean, that's fine. That's great. That's

awesome. Yo, Underoos! Whatever. Fine. Great.

That's cool. But in this, again, we've mentioned

already about Tony's healing and his trauma and

everything else. You've got him going back. Like,

you know. I think one of the big themes of the

film is that both Tony and Cap, they're both

in a period where their women are gone. Tony

and Pepper have broken up, and Cap and Peggy.

So they're both in this weird single thing, and

it devolves into this huge pissing contest between

them. Not only Spider -Man, but you also get

the premiere of a Black Panther. Yeah, that's

true. It is weird. It's amazing because it's

both an Avengers film, but it is still a Captain

America film. Yes, it's very much a Captain America

film. It's very well done. Believe me, if Rogue

One hadn't come out that year, it would have

been an easy win for Civil War. Yeah. Like, Star

Wars is my thing. I get that. I know. I know.

I appreciate that. And, you know, when we get

to the TV side of this thing, maybe... Anyway.

2017. There are two choices. John Wick Chapter

2 and Fate of the Furious. Like I just said a

couple moments ago, I think they could have just

ended at 7, but I know that Vin has this thing

where, oh, I want it to go to 10, or I want it

to go to 11, or we have this whole big plan,

and blah, blah, whatever. I picked John Wick

Chapter 2 because John Wick Chapter 2 basically

picks right up after John Wick Chapter 1. and

it just ramps everything up. And it has one of

my most, like literally if I, I don't have it

as a ringtone, but if I did put it as a ringtone,

people like, not that anybody calls me cause

nobody calls anybody anymore, but there's a theme

in here. There's a music tone in this. I think

it's in one of the club scenes, but it's called

John Wick mode. And I play that tune when I need

to, get up and face the day or what it just for

inspiration. And it's like, Oh man, I just, I

absolutely love that movie. I love the character

that Keanu Reeves is playing with this. And I,

I miss, um, what's his name? Oh, the, his, yes.

Yeah. Um, No, not Winston. He just passed away.

God damn it. What's the character's name? The

black guy. I'm so sorry. Lance Riddick. Thank

you, Lance Riddick. This character worked at

the Continental. Yeah, he was the concierge.

Yeah. That's what it is. I absolutely love his

character and just... Yeah, no. And John Wick

Chapter 2 just... It ramped it up. And... Just...

From the Rome scene to the New York City subway

to... Just all of it. Just all of it. Those movies

are just so... so fun. So yeah, John Wick Chapter

2. 2018, there's only one option. MI6, Fallout.

Again, it's Tom Cruise, it's Ethan Hunt, Mission

Impossible because it's his impossible mission

force. It's the IMF. And it's the second half

of the Solomon Lane story with the villain of

that. So that is very, very cool, the conclusion

part of that. I absolutely love that. 2019 is

kind of where it gets, well, a little hairy.

Not so many selections, but I did want to kind

of misquote something here. And it's a superhero

sci -fi fantasy space battle crossover. Avengers

Endgame. So this is how the universe ends with

deafening silence. I did not choose Avengers

Endgame. I chose a Michael Bay film. A Netflix

exclusive! Because it was the first film in a

long time of Ryan Reynolds that I was like, ooh,

I must pay attention to this in 2019. six underground

not a lot of people know about six underground

seen like half the films on your list dude didn't

think so welcome to act five six underground

is netflix original film ryan reynolds a bunch

of other people that i don't even know off the

top of my head without looking at the article

on wikipedia He plays this billionaire spook

kind of guy who puts this team together, who

does this spy stuff kind of thing. And they all

go by numbers. So it's not personal. It's supposed

to just be, you know, spooky and whatever. And

they're all ghosts and everything else. They're

all off the grid because they're all quote unquote

dead. And they just. do this mission to save

this guy and to put him in power because his

brother is corrupt. It's a movie that I saw a

trailer for and I liked the music in the trailer

and then I read the synopsis of it and I'm like,

oh, cool. And then I watched the trailer again

and I was like, oh, cool. And I've seen it like

a billion times since then. It's just, I don't

know what it is about the movie. I just really

dig it. 2020. Um, 2020, holy crap. So a buddy

of mine from high school, Quentin Lester, writes

for this website called Bite Size Breakdown.

They used to just do this on Facebook and Instagram

and other places, but they actually have their

own website now. And I'll link that in the show

bite -sized micro reviews, written reviews, and

they do them up as images and they give their

little ratings and whatever kind of thing. And

they do movies, TV shows, all kinds of stuff.

And one of the things they did back in 2020,

or maybe it was 2019, I forget, was for a film

called Guns Akimbo. Have you ever heard of this

movie? I've heard of it, yeah. Okay. It stars

Mr. Potter! First film I've ever seen Daniel

Radcliffe in. Ever. Because I'm not a Harry Potter

person. So yeah, that's the runner -up for this.

But yeah, I wanted to mention that because Guns

Akimbo is basically... What if you had guns for

hands and you had to run around shooting people?

It's kind of like a video game. It was a fun

film. I really dug it. I love the soundtrack

to it. It was, it was really fun, but the winner

for 2020. And honestly, because it was 2020,

obviously, and we were all at home and everything

was closed. Like I know there's choices, but

this film luckily was released January 17th,

2020 before everything shut down. I did get to

see it in theaters, but. Bad Boys for Life. Will

Smith, Martin Lawrence, all that stuff. The fourth

Bad Boys movie. Joey Pantoliano. Just absolutely

so fun, so good. Absolutely love it. 2021 was

a toss -up between F9, which is the Fast Saga.

Or another Netflix movie which I had never heard

of. I don't even know how. I think it's because

I'm subscribed to Netflix on YouTube and I see

when they release trailers and stuff from whatever's

coming up on their service. There's a movie called

Gunpowder Milkshake. And yeah, Gunpowder Milkshake

was starring... It's an action thriller film

that... is basically about it's about these assassins

that have to it's an assassin for hire film and

the one assassin is trying to get her life back

and that kind of stuff it stars Karen Gillian

it stars Lena Headey it stars Carla Gugino? Sorry

if I mispronounced that. Yeah, but I know who

you're talking about. She was in Hot Shots, I

believe. Oh, was she? Cool. Stars Michelle Yeoh,

Angela Bassett, Paul Giamatti is in it as Nathan,

who is the head of the HR department for the

firm. But it's a nice little, I don't know, again,

it was something where it was 2021, we were all

still pretty much at home. I saw the trailer

and I was like, ooh, Gunpowder Milkshake, that's

a cool title. Hmm, I wonder what that is. 2022

is another Sean Levy project with The Atom Project.

This is a Ryan Reynolds vehicle. This is Ryan

Reynolds and Jennifer Garner. This is actually

it's it's basically Deadpool meets the Hulk.

Actually, it's the Hulk is Deadpool's dad. Oh,

the Adam Project is Ryan Reynolds as Adam. Mark

Ruffalo plays his dad and he. Is this pilot who

has to go back and forth in time and it's a time

travel thing? I think you would like it. I really

do think you would like it. And it's this whole

thing of him trying to make sure that the partner

of his dad's doesn't get away with doing bad

stuff for the company that they own kind of thing.

And yeah, it also has Zoe Saldana in there. So

very, very awesome, fun family film. And then

2023, It's -A -Me, Mario! It's the only choice.

We've been waiting almost 40 years for an animated

Mario movie. We had the animated Mario cartoons

back in the 80s and 90s, but... We've been waiting

almost 40 years for a Mario movie. And as much

as I wish it was Charles Martinet as the voice,

Chris Pratt did okay as the voice of Mario. The

only time I'm not a fan of Chris Pratt is the

Star -Lord character, because I just think that

character is too overblown. I get that's the

point of the character, but Super Mario Bros.

the movie, Perfect. I just absolutely loved it.

It was so fun. And then 2024. Honorable mentions

to Deadpool and Wolverine. Honorable mention

to Sonic 3 because hello, Shadow. And again,

John Wick. Keanu Reeves as Shadow. Hilarious.

Absolutely love it. Not hilarious, but very awesome.

But the choice for 2024 can only go to, Achwell,

you're back! Can only go to Axel Foley, Beverly

Hills Cop 4. Because nobody ever, like, you don't

understand. Steve and I have been thinking, predicting,

every time they come up with a rumor, we've been

denying it. For 16 and a half years that the

Geekcast Radio Network has been online, every

time they come up with a Beverly Hills Cop 4

rumor, we have been shooting it down saying it'll

never happen. Because we knew that Eddie Murphy

was never going to do it. Because every time

that stuff would come up for Beverly Hills Cop

4, it was either the story isn't right or this

isn't right or Eddie doesn't want to do it or

this or that or whatever. They finally did it.

It was an awesome movie. It was a damn good story.

It was emotional. It had action. The music done

by Lorne Balfe was amazing in it for the score.

And it worked. And I know they're thinking of

doing a fifth one. I hope they don't because

I don't think they need to. But in case they

do end up doing a fifth movie, okay, sure, fine.

But yeah, those are my choices. Okay, I was going

to say, I think I put them to sleep, folks. No,

I was following you. I was kind of following

along and keeping track. And I think we had two

films in common. And out of 24 films, I've only

seen, I think, out of 44 films. Oh, how old are

you? 45. Okay, so 44, because you're not doing

this year. Yeah, we can't do this year yet. I

mean, you could, you know, be morally wrong.

Yes. I have seen 19 of the films that you mentioned.

That's not bad. About half. Less than half. Not

bad, though. That's not bad at all. So, any other,

anything you want to say before I take us to

a quick ad break? No, I mean, I tried to be a

good boy. There were a couple of choices that

I may have had issues with, but you know. Okay,

what are your issues? At the end of the day,

it's your, no, but at the end of the day, it's

your list. Right, but I'm curious. Yeah. You

didn't pick Cars 2, but just mentioning it on

any list of favorite anything. I was like, wow.

I'm not a big fan of the Fast and the Furious

movies. I was like, is he going to pick the one

where they drive a car in space? No, because

I haven't seen it yet. Okay. Anything with Michael

Bay, there was one you said that Michael Bay

did on Netflix. I'm like, oh, you lost me at

Michael Bay. Six Underground. The first live

-action Transformers is watchable. But I don't

like the designs. Yeah, they got Peter Cullen

back so that our beloved childhood Optimus Prime

could rip people's faces off in the second movie.

I'm not even a Transformers guy, and that was

offensive to me. It's like, freedom is the right

of all sentient beings. Now obey me or I'll fucking

murder you. That was the fourth one, but in the

second one he was ripping people's faces off.

It's just like, eh. Like I said, you know, you're...

Your choices are your choices. That's the whole

point. It is. It's the whole point. I'm sure

there were some of my choices that you hadn't

heard of or didn't agree with. You were offended

that I didn't pick Trading Places. I wasn't offended.

You were like, I can't believe you didn't pick.

I can't believe you didn't pick this one comedy

instead of the third Star Wars movie. It's like,

dude, do you know me at all? Oh, I knew you were

going to pick Revenge of the Jedi. Return of

the Jedi. Revenge of the Jedi. Jedi don't seek

revenge. Yes, they do. That's what makes my poster

valuable. That's what makes my poster valuable

is they changed it. Shut up. My G .I. Joe poster

with the wrong date on it. Supergirl, I was like...

That movie is a hidden gem. If you say so. I

didn't really push on that one because I've never

seen it. Well, you should watch it sometime.

I've never heard anything good about it. Except

from you. Okay, so... And there's a reason they

didn't do Supergirl 2. Well, but again, it didn't

really need it. Again, that's from an era where

you don't always need a sequel. They had four

Christopher Reeve Supermans. Do you really think

if that movie had made money, they wouldn't have

made a sequel? I don't know. But I don't know.

I just think Hollywood has changed over the years,

especially with the internet. They were doing

franchises back in the 30s with the monster movies.

Yeah, I know. Everyone pretends like, oh, all

these remakes and all these blah, blah, blah,

and all these sequels. It's a new thing. It's

terrible. No, I know it's not a new thing. Yeah.

I know it's not a new thing. I'm just saying

that there were some, even when they did make

more than like when they actually made money,

not just make their budget back when they were

actually successful, that they didn't. they still

didn't make a sequel. Like the, they're just

rare. Plenty of movies that did. Yeah. But like,

I don't know. It's just one of those things.

All right, folks, that's it for now for the Media

Mayhem. The Media Mayhem will continue here in

the future inside Studio 2009. I will be getting

stories from plenty of other people. I've got

at least two or three other people that have

already expressed interest that want to come

on and talk about movies. Dave and I will return,

and we will be doing our TV series lists. So

get to working on that, sir. It's already done.

God. Okay. Well, all right. Well, we'll work

on that. All righty then. Uh, any, anything you'd

like to say, uh, before I run through the closing?

Oh, I just think it's an interesting little exercise.

Um, absolutely. It's fun. Yeah. Um, part of me

kind of feels like some of my choices were like,

like I, in retrospect, I feel like something

like it's, it's weird. Like what's interesting

for me is like a lot of my choices, particularly

later down, down the list were very like, uh,

popular ones, you know what I mean? But is that

because I was following trends? It's weird that

as a guy who grew up in the 70s and 80s, who

was into nerd stuff, it was both interesting

and gratifying that that stuff kind of overtook

the culture. That we did have an Avengers movie.

That kind of thing. The nerd stuff, that we did

have a really well done Lord of the Rings trilogy,

which was... I mean, I haven't really seen any

of the Dune films, but it's weird that that got

made. Because all these films were considered

unfilmable, but nerd culture is such a thing

now that we get these things that we know. And

then the technology is also there. Because as

we were talking about with Spider -Man, it's

really good for its time. It's really amazing

for its time. It's a little... Yeah, it's just

interesting to watch how movies changed. I also

feel a little... Part of me is like, oh, it's

so great that they're making all these movies

that, you know, they're making like Superman

and Jurassic Park and Fantastic Four. At the

same time, like, you know, I've mentioned my

mother a couple times. I'm always like, there

really isn't much out there these days for her,

even though she passed away. But like, you know,

I do feel a little bad that we've kind of like

taken over the cineplex. Although now the way

that the industry is. I think nerd stuff, big

budget blockbuster stuff is the only thing that's

going to be viable in movie theaters. But they

now have Netflix stuff, and they have Netflix

and all the streaming stuff for the smaller movies

about people talking and doing stuff and not

fighting dinosaurs, whatever that garbage is.

Well, that's why I mentioned stuff like Before

Sunrise and Before Sunset. That's why I mentioned

stuff like... Okay, Gunpowder Milkshake probably

isn't something your mom would watch because

it's a spy action. But my point is... I don't

think... Of this list, I think maybe... That's

what made Iron Man so special. That's what made

the first X -Men so special. The rare movies

that she wanted to watch, too. Right. No, absolutely.

The rare movies that I liked. Like I said, she

loved stuff like... Ferris Bueller and Footloose.

I think she probably would have liked Tetris.

I was going to say, Tetris is a neat little below

-the -radar thing about this dumb little game

that I play all the time. And it's fascinating

stuff. It's interesting to watch the way the

movie... And because I'm so fucking old, I can

start in the 70s with... And even though I didn't

necessarily pick them, stuff like French Connection

and Apocalypse Now and Deer Hunter, very grown

-up movies. And then we get to Jaws and Star

Wars and it becomes the summer blockbusters.

And then it builds on the 90s movies, builds

on the 80s movies. And then now we're in, again,

Avengers. Now we're in Endgame and Doomsday and

Epic Madness. It's interesting to watch the way

it snowballed. Yeah, and for my list, it's like...

The 80s was pretty much Trading Places is a single

film. Supergirl, single film. He -Man and She

-Ra, Secret of the Sword, single film. Transformers,

the movie, technically. That is a single film

because it was animated and it didn't have a

sequel to that specific film. Yes, the... cartoon

series did have a third season and they continued

on with the story, but technically it is a single

film, a beginning, middle and end story, you

know, but you go down past the eighties, you

get to the nineties, you get a couple of other

single films, but it kind of inches into franchise

stuff where it's like mission impossible started

in the nineties. And then, you know, in the two

thousands, you get Spider -Man, you get, you

know you get transformers you get and then you

get the marvel stuff like you mentioned and yeah

between marvel john wick and mission impossible

those are the main franchises that i have outside

of fast and i and i was trying actively like

i didn't put the first fast because the knight's

tale was the only one a night i have more connect

like i have a connection to the fast and the

furious the first film from 2001 not because

i like that movie but a knight's tale hits more

with me and has more to my story and like i said

it also goes to my enjoyment of heath ledger's

acting and whatever else but like yeah no it's

just hollywood has gone more franchise as as

the decades have have gone on so yeah that's

that's the way the The film reel runs out. All
