you're listening to the Geekcast Radio Network.

I'm not even supposed to be here today. One side,

Red. Hello and welcome to GeekCaster Radio episode

37. In a row? I am one of your hosts, TFG, and

Mike, and joining me is Steve Megatron. Hello.

Hello. And from toyworldorder .gov is Jason Duvall.

You son of a... Every time, you know... You know,

I know where you live and you're not that far

from me, Mikey, so... You're too damn lazy. No,

that's not true. We're... We're getting ready

to venture five hours into Ohio in a couple weeks

for the world's longest garage sale. So no, there's

no laziness here. It's just time, Mike. And someday

soon, I will have all the time in the world.

Right. And today, we are going to be talking

about, in depth, the media mogul himself, Mr.

Kevin Smith. Yes, the man who my partner in crime,

Dave, says I have a man crush on. You do. I don't.

I don't. OK, maybe a little. Maybe a little.

uh... is mostly excellent at the beginning of

post but it's most everyone knows uh... of course

you know thirty seven it's the whole you know

clerks joke and everything else and that and

the uh... the uh... tuncast classic what were

you saying? I was going to say try not to suck

any dicks on your way to the car on the way to

the parking lot hey get back here you Oh, God.

So back in Tooncast Classic, episode 37 was Clark's

The Animated Series, which I will link to in

the post. And we were coming up on this, and

I was like, hmm. And all of a sudden, and honestly,

I blame Jason for this. Aw, thanks, dude. I started

looking up Kevin Smith's stuff on iTunes for

his podcast. And I first got, I believe the first

one I got was Batman on Batman. which is his

show that he does, and he talks about Batman.

He's talked to Paul Dini. He's had a two -parter

with Mark Hamill. He's talked to Tara Strong.

He's talked to Arlene Sorkin. Which might be

one of the only audio interviews from Arlene

Sorkin ever. That's the only one I've ever heard,

yes. The only one I've ever heard. and uh...

so i started with that and then you know ice

be in in in preparation for this episode actually

went out his clerks chasing amy and jan sal about

strike backer on netflix actually went out to

my used dvd store and i picked up uh... mall

rats dogma and clerks too uh... and in rewatching

those it really wanted it really got me into

checking out his other stuff because when i originally

checked out smodcast the original podcast that

he did when i checked it out in like early 2007

that first episode just kind of like turned like

i can take dick and fart jokes you know the you

know what you know whatever but just Like first

five minutes of that very first episode It was

like dick this and fart this and it was like

every other word was was about cock and it's

like oh my god I just can't listen to this. So

it's taken me five years to come around to Kevin

Smith's shows So here we are. We're gonna we've

got several different categories that we're gonna

go through and all that good stuff But first

Steve, wouldn't did you first hear about Kevin

Smith or any of his stuff that he's done? Mostly

it was through... I'd heard of Dogma and Jane

Silent Bob. I'd seen a couple of his other later

movies. Pretty much just in passing, I'd watched

them on TV just because they played them a lot.

So that's pretty much how I heard about them.

What about you, Jason, you and your man crush?

I actually, in 94, when Clerks came out in theaters,

we had a theater here in town called the Fox

Theater. And it was just a little, basically

it was an indie art film theater that was independently

run for a long, long time. And that was one of

the 50 theaters that actually was carrying Clerks

at the time. So I actually. I actually got in

from the ground level and went to see that. It

was my junior year in high school, and it was

that fall. And we went to see it. And I was like,

this movie's spectacular. And then, of course,

from there on, it was Mallrats and everything

else that I saw. I think I've seen everything

in the theater except for Chasing Amy. And I

still actually have never watched Chasing Amy.

What is wrong with you? I just have never is

wrong with you. I never wanted I never wanted

to see or Sometime in the near future when you

have an hour or so to yourself Get on Netflix

look up chasing Amy and watch that fucking movie.

I See I've looked it up and I could never find

it. So it must have just gone back up there It's

on Netflix. It's been on there for at least three

months. Oh weird Yeah, because it's been in my

queue for at least three months. Oh, you know

when it came out I I just had no interest in

it for some reason. And it's one of those things

now where I hear audio clips of Walt Flanagan

and Brian Johnson's where they're playing the

card game in that. And I'm like, I got to watch

this movie. Because I know what happens in it,

but I'm like, I got to watch this damn movie.

Yeah, yeah. uh... for me uh... i actually did

a whole blog post about kevin smith and in preparation

for this episode uh... wrote a whole blog about

all the stuff in all of the the the how i came

to know him actually it's funny and this is kind

of sad too somehow i don't know how i don't know

if it was a group home thing i don't even know

how it was a group home thing or if it was maybe

my dad came to see me and we went to go see this

i don't know how i get dragged to this friggin

movie uh... somehow in ninety five when i was

fifteen i got dragged to see sabrina with julia

ormond and harrison ford uh... and it was in

one of those weird uh... kind of like out not

an outlet mall but it was similar to an outlet

mall style it was an actual mall but it just

it wasn't as big as most malls are and as we're

walking through to go to the theater i see a

poster that says mall rats and i only see it

briefly like i don't stop and look at it is just

like i was walking by a couple of my eye and

i thought to myself and i even you know for myself

before i saw the film i thought to myself why

is there a movie about rats in a mall it makes

no sense whatsoever i was fifteen at the time

i don't know whatever so more as was my first

experience uh... and i have to love more as more

as is great and i went back and watch clerks

and then watch clerks animated series uh... chasing

amy I actually snuck into when I was 17 because

I thought it was a softcore porn. Oh, I see.

You were like, lesbians? This has got to be awesome.

I think Chasing Amy when I was 17 and GI Jane

when I was 18 are the only two films I've ever

fallen asleep on in a theater. GI Jane I can

see. Dogma I waited until DVD and of course Jay

Anton and Bob, you know, they finally got their

comeuppance and they got their motherfucking

movie check So yeah, you know the the the universe

he created with view askew was just Amazing.

It was funny to see how all the different names

and character names and characters transition

between all of those films And of course, you

know in 2006 you have clerks to which it just

brought everything full circle. Oh, I agree.

I think out of all the View -O -Skew movies,

I think Clerks 2 is probably the strongest and

just flat out funniest film that he had done

to that point. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I totally agree.

Any other thoughts on the View -O -Skew universe,

guys? Do we want to bring up anything else on

the...? I think that... You know, like you said,

the ViewSkew universe was something. I mean,

it was just, you know, it was, it was, it's like

this love letter to everything that makes Kevin

Smith the person he is, as funny as he is. And

especially in fact, like a lot of the stuff,

you know, he's, he's put all of his friends and

his colleagues and all these films and connected

them in such a way that you could watch them

back to back to back and see. And in the end,

see that, you know, it's basically. this great

love letter to his his teenage years it is his

friend ship that he's created met to me that's

kind of cool i mean yeah there's a lot of fart

dick jokes but uh... the fart dick jokes are

pretty funny especially if you know like clerks

to you in clerks and uh... ball rats always cracks

me up because jason lee is just so perfect in

that film and the thing about this universe the

thing about kevin smith at this time you know

during this tenure of films is that he was not

to take away from any other directors or filmmakers

he was a filmmaker that of course everyone wants

mainstream success but he wanted to make a movie

for himself you know he wanted to make a movie

of you know not necessarily about himself but

for himself and With his friends and that's what

he did. I mean it it's a well -known fact that

I think it was $27 ,000 is how much he had on

credit cards to make clerks. Yes, I think that's

what it was roughly right um You know and look

up. You know what what a cult hit clerks is That

whole universe is just amazing an amazing film

Just is Steve any other thoughts on a skew? Um,

I Like I said, I was I was somewhat familiar

because I'd seen dogma a couple times back in

the day I Think Jane's silent object back is

hilarious. It is you know, you know the celebrity

cameos and then you've got you know Our camera

was the cock knocker and they're playing like

a mix between Luke Skywalker and Joker It just

the the whole movie was funny. I like that. I've

seen Like Jersey girl, I you know the I'm not

too familiar with some of the original stuff,

but um yeah, that's I've been meaning to watch

some of them, but Just haven't gotten down to

it Yeah, I guess we can and this is probably

gonna be mostly Deval talking about this stuff

But I guess we can talk about his films that

he's done outside of view askew which is cop

-out Red State. What else has he done? He's done

a pilot episode of Reaper, which I like that

show. Yeah, and he actually had an uncredited

role. He was the little Jewish guy in the show

that I think he was only in it for like a scene.

But yeah, he actually directed the pilot to that

show. Movie wise, he really, as a director, I

mean, you know, Cop Out's been the only movie

that he's directed that he hasn't written. Yeah.

Uh, Red State was just kind of his something,

you know, one of the last two films that he's

wanted to do for a long time. That's kind of

been, you know, fermenting in his head. Um, you

know, that's basically his, uh, uh, you know,

he says that, you know, that the description

of it is it's a film about three boys who go

into the, who go into the woods to find pussy

and find God instead. And it's a pretty much

apt description of it, but it's such a dramatically

different film from him you can actually see

that you're like oh I want to see more films

like this from Kevin Smith because that you know

it was it was just you know it was a simple low

-budget movie that was just I think was expertly

done a lot of fun I think he's done a lot of

stuff you know in the film industry I mean he

was in live free or die hard as warlock which

was awesome yes Mom, you don't bring people down

into my layer or whatever it was. Yeah, that's

no I mean he's done a lot of stuff Zach and Mary

was another one he did. Oh Yeah, I always forget

about Zach and Mary. I always forget about Zach

and Mary. Yeah Not not not out of like this taste

cuz I like that movie, but just sometimes I'm

like, oh, yeah Yeah You know, he was he had a

cameo role in daredevil. Hey play Jack Kirby

Yeah, he did that's right. He was the forensic

assistant. He was the one he was like check this

out. It's so yeah I Mean he's he's done a lot

in film not just directing But I you know I kind

of wanted to focus on the directing part, but

he's been in a lot of films He's been a lot of

TV stuff as well. I mean the guy is just everywhere

I mean you know he made you know that What is

it five or six or seven seven film universe with

view askew, and he made the movies that he wanted

to make Thank God he hasn't gone back and altered

them like no no no director the funny thing is

as a you know when i went back and i watched

all the films and i've watched him on on hulu

on his new show spoiler spoilers which we'll

talk about a little bit later the funny thing

is as i see him through the years and i as i

see him age through the years he reminds me of

george lucas as far as the just the aging from

like a younger version of kevin smith and clerks

to the kevin smith now where they're not similar

He and George Lucas are not similar anyway, as

far as looks, but they kind of are. Just how

the age progression has gone, I thought that

was kind of cool. He's done so much, and as far

as him directing films, hey, if he's done, that's

cool. He's got so much else. I think the next

time after Jay and Bob before Clerks 2 that I

even knew anything about him was his evening

with specials. Yes. Yes. And those are freaking

amazing. Well, it's great, too, because his Q

&As had been legendary up to that point. And

when they started to film certain ones of them

and they started to release them, the first Evening

with Kevin Smith they released was an amazing

top seller on DVD forever, because people are

like, oh my god, this is amazing. Yeah, it was.

the man can tell a story, and that's always what

I find intriguing. I mean, people... Smith's

got his haters. People hate his guts, hate his

films, think he's a hack director. But the fact

of the matter, when it comes down to the end

of the day, he's actually a good storyteller,

and that actually helps a lot in directing. But

when you see him live on stage like that, it's

like, you know, some of the haters have to, at

the end of the day, look in the mirror and go,

Kevin, Smith's not that bad, because it's just

damned entertaining. Yeah. Well, with the evening

with DVDs, you may have. I only know the first

one. I've seen the second one, but I haven't

seen it in a while. But I remember the first

one. You haven't seen Evening Harder or Threevening?

I've seen Evening Harder. I've seen the second

one, but it's been a while. And I have not seen

Threevening yet. I've got to see that. But the

first one, it was filmed over multiple campuses.

I think the entire thing might have been 15 questions

from 15 people, because you ask him a question,

he'll go into a 30 -minute story. Oh, absolutely.

And that's what's so great about it, because

I can kind of compare it to going to a convention

and asking, you know... For example, because

we are all Transformers fans. Hey Peter Cohen,

what was it like working with Wally Byrne? You

know, Peter's gonna give the same answer he's

given for the last 30 years. There have been

stuff that I've seen, you know, people ask Kevin

that he's able to tell brand new stories with.

Yes. You know, sure, they ask him, you know,

a lot of people will ask him the same questions,

but for the most part, everything I've watched

and heard from him in the last, I don't know,

year, year and a half... there's always something

new that he brings to the table. Steve, any thoughts

on the evening specials, his Q &As? I haven't

really seen any of them. Okay. I can't read the

comment, but I do know what you're talking about

as far as people getting interviewed or doing

interviews and like you said with Peter calling

the same Yeah. Cookie cutter answer every time.

It is nice when a celebrity takes the time to

actually explain something or go more in depth

or, you know, just have to sit there and be a

pre -recorded message. Yeah, that's true. And

now that he's kind of moved away from the whole

directing bit, I mean, I know he does stuff here

and there. I mean, he's not out of the industry,

but I think as a director after Red State, he's

pretty much retired, isn't he, Jason? No, no,

no. He's trying to get a hockey movie together

called Hit Somebody. Oh, OK. And it's supposed

to be a two -part film. It's going to be two

different parts that follow the career of this

hockey player from, I believe, I think it's the

late 60s, early 70s up through. today, maybe

the early 90s is where he's putting this. And

that's kind of going to be his swan song. And

the film that's going, he says that, you know,

that film's going to have everyone that's ever

been in his movies that he's worked with in a

role some way or another. So you're talking like,

you know, Ben Affleck and Damon and Jason Lee

and. John Goodman, Amuse, of course, John Lovitz.

I mean, all these guys that he's worked with

in and out of film are going to have a role in

this film. And that's going to be his swan song.

But the funny thing is is that, I won't get off

to topic, but the funny thing is is that with

him slowly bringing himself out of directing,

because he's like, I've done it for two decades.

He's like, I've done everything I've wanted to

do. There's nothing else I want to do. With him

slowly pulling himself out with these last two

films that he's trying to get together The funny

thing is is that everything else he's doing is

pulling him back into that medium where you know

He's showing up on TV now, and he's like you

know he's like it just it comes full circle Yeah,

I mean he really is a medium mogul. I mean with

smod cast and smod Co and all that stuff. You

know Like I said earlier, you know, we're talking

about Fat Man on Batman and Tellum, Steve, Dave,

and Secret Stash. I mean, honestly, when I saw

Comic Book Man, I was like, oh my God. Yes, I

know it is just Pawn Stars with comic books.

It's the Pawn Stars format and I'm not trying

to, you know, talk down about Comic Book Man.

I'm not. I love Comic Book Man. I think it's

great because when I was watching those viewer's

group movies, I always wanted to go to New Jersey

to see James Silent Bob's Secret Stash. I always

wanted to do that. I thought, you know, I thought

that store would be a cool thing to see. And

with this TV show, it's just amazing. And then

I found the Secret Stash, which is a companion

podcast, which is like, you know, extra stuff

after each week's show with Ming Chen and Michael

Zamsek and Walt Flanagan and Brian Johnson is

just absolutely great. And then of course, you

know the Fat Man on Batman and I mean Jay and

Silent Bob get old I you know, I've been I've

been listening to that I went back and I got

all the episodes of that so I have like close

to like I don't know a hundred and something

podcast to listen to But I started listening

to that from the beginning and it was just you

know because you never like Muse wasn't ever

really around and of course At least now I know

why because he was addicted to drugs right, you

know, and that's that's a sad thing that you

know, that happened to him, you know, everybody

has, you know, different life situations, but

to hear the two of them, you know, in J &S, get

old, to hear the two of them just talk about

the old days and the stories and everything else

is just, it's a new way to learn about. Their

lives and it was just is just an amazing amazing

podcast same thing would tell them Steve Dave

which is Walt Flanagan and Brian Johnson Steve

Dave and fanboy Just hearing their stories and

what they do is just an amazing thing as well

Well you you you know you hinted it yeah, but

you didn't want to put Put comic book been down

by saying it was pawn stars with comics, but

the funny thing is that was actually spits pitch

to AMC when they were like, hey, do you have

any ideas? He was like, why don't you do a show

that's Pawn Stars and a comic book shop? I mean,

that literally was the pitch. And then when he

gave them Tell Them Steve -Dave episodes to the

producer, his producer friend that works for

AMC, and he was like, listen, these guys, this

is kind of the idea. And the producer came back

and he goes, no, no, no. These guys are the show.

You're an idiot. You can't see what's right in

front of you. These guys are this show. And that's

how that came about. And then with Muse, if you

look, especially at the evening series, Muse

comes out, and he just kind of sits there. And

at the time, he was addled with drugs, and he

just never talked. But when they started doing

Jay and Silent Bob Get Old, and even before that,

Jay and Silent Bob Get Jobs, which is the older

podcast they did before Get Old, You kind of

start to hear Jay come in his own and when Jay

finally cleaned up and they started get old He

really has become an impressive storyteller.

I mean Jason Muse is Jason Muse I mean it you

know he and Jay are almost inseparable because

they're there You know, they're literally the

same person when it comes down to it. Yeah start

listening to just these these heartbreaking,

heart -wrenching tales of Muse's past and stuff

that he's done, and the funny stuff that's happened,

and all of his sexual escapades. It really makes

for an amazing listen. You're just sitting there

for an hour and 40 minutes just flabbergasted

going, my god, this man. One, it's amazing. He

still is with us to this day, and it's great

that he's cleaned his life up. But two, it's

like, oh my god, what a life. Yeah. It's just

amazing. And anyone that hasn't. tuned into some

of these podcasts and uh... a lot of the podcast

links from itunes will be in the post uh... and

i know i put in their uh... jantan bob get old

i put in their famine of batman uh... secret

stash tom steve dave uh... put in the website

you know smartcast dot com to you know so people

go there and get everything steve have you uh...

you had a chance to partake in any of these shows

yet I have watched Comic Book Men on AMC, so

that was quite interesting to watch. I had no

cares for the previous shows or whatnot, like

The Walking Dead or anything. I just would hang

around for Comic Book Men, which I thought was

a pretty cool show. And then also I've had a

chance to kind of browse through site and kind

of look around, see what interests me. And then

you actually told me about the Fat Man on Batman,

which I've gotten through only one episode so

far, but I've just started kind of dabbling through

site. So it is kind of cool to have the... I

think it helps having a celebrity person for

them to kind of bounce off of because they have

things they can relate with a lot better whereas

if You know people like us interview them It's

a really different like we either have questions

or it's kind of you know, it's not as smooth

sailing per se Yeah, I mean and the thing is,

you know, and most of them have worked together.

So that's part of it too. So yeah Yeah, I mean,

you know you you take famine on Batman and You

know famine on Batman to me is like, you know,

Kevin Smith's version of Nerdist It essentially

it's essentially Nerdist for Batman is what it

is and you know, you can just sit down and have

a discussion and you know, you listen to that

two -part Mark Hamill interview that he did and

It's just you know stories that you've never

really heard from Mark because you know Mark

just isn't someone who's Mark Hamill is awesome

as that man is. He's not someone who is on every

single podcast. You know, he's not someone that

gives a lot of interviews. Trust me, I've been

trying for eight months to get him. But But Fatman

on Batman is a really interesting one. And then

what he's done with Smodcast Internet Radio and

Smodcast .com is great. What he's done now with

Hulu and Spoilers. I mean, that's just amazing,

I think. He's got his hand in so many different

pots that it's not only helped reinvent him,

but it also helped keep him alive and afloat

in this ever -changing media world. Yeah. He's,

you know, he's in film, CD, animation, podcast,

you know, internet video. I mean, just everything,

it just helps in his media empire. Yes. Spoilers

is great. I'm sorry, I was going to say Steve

used pot and I was going to say figuratively

and literally. because he is very much a self

-proclaimed wake and baker and but you know you

look at what the man has done on pot and it's

like holy crap you know this he's the most productive

person you know that i think has lived inside

of hollywood that's constantly constantly doped

up a pot and it's like look at all of the stuff

he's created just because he's like he gets high

and he's like you know his his mantra to hit

himself was if i'm going to start smoking i have

to be doing something creative and he has done

so much creative since he started smoking pot

it's like it makes me who's never done it go

i'm gonna do pot now carrie would kill you probably

yes because i'd be like i gotta go buy toys gotta

go buy toys yeah just i'd be more productive

please Yes. The thing is, like I was saying earlier,

with Spoilers, which is his new Hulu series,

you can go to Hulu .com and watch it for free.

Essentially, he takes an entire movie audience

out to a movie. They then... You know sit around

talk about it. He asks different people their

opinion of whatever movie it is And then he has

a guest on he said like Carrie Fisher on he's

had Stan Lee on he's had Jason Leon he he's had

all these people on and and you know they've

they've got to movies such as snow in the huntsman

they've gone out to prometheus they've got out

to amazing spider -man they've gone out to i

believe the latest one that's coming up is dark

knight rises yes that one i'm really interested

to see yeah i'm actually probably gonna watch

it as soon as we're done recording this episode

especially since he's been he's had a uh... metaphorical

hard on for this film for months because every

time it comes up he's just like I cannot wait

to see that movie! Is it actually up on there

right now? I'll check after the show because

I know that when I looked at the schedule on

his website it said that it was going to be up

Friday so maybe he filmed it maybe they went

to see the movie Friday and then filmed it Friday

night I don't know I'll have to check in a minute

But Kevin Smith is someone, as Jason said earlier,

he's someone that started out as a director and

producer and filmmaker and has moved into what

I've been terming him this entire time the last

three, four months. He is a media mogul. He is

everywhere. And that's great. And as Jason said

earlier, he is a guy who can tell a story. I

actually went back. I've been going back and

grabbing Smodcast episodes here and there. I

think I have the Jeff in, like I think it's episode

135, which is Jeff Anderson, because everybody

loves Randall Graves. i went back as i in in

research for the show back and i saw all southwest

controversy what we know what they read the wikipedia

article my okay well he did a podcast about i

need to hear it from his mouth versus reading

a wikipedia article about it and i went back

and i downloaded smoncast episode one oh six

and it's him and his wife uh... jennifer schwalbach

smith and they're telling everybody about the

story about his encounter on southwest airlines

and it's just amazing that's Not only is he a

great storyteller with what stories happened

to him, but it comes across that You know this

was a situation that could have almost happened

to anyone not just you know a celebrity and In

fact it actually did happen to someone else on

that second flight so yeah You guys got to go

back and listen to that smod that those smodcast

episodes about his Southwest Airlines debacle

Is just amazing overall i'm loving everything

that he he he and his crew are doing uh... just

amazing amazing stuff i i can't wait to see where

they go from here and i can't wait for column

of men season two steve any uh... final thoughts

here on uh... on kevin smith uh... uh... i'm

very impressed but what he has done uh... i'd

i think that he is Obviously very talented and

intelligent because, I mean, he's been involved

with just about every form of geekery that you

can think of. And like I said before, every different

division of media. But I just look forward to

seeing what he comes up with in the future to

further take not only his network, but just media

in general. Into the future Jason final thoughts.

Well, you know, I mean there's so much going

on. I mean we you know, we didn't we There wasn't

even even delving on on his You know, he is a

New York Times bestseller. I mean he's yeah,

he's an author, you know tough shit is one of

It's funny to say but it's one of the most inspirational

books that anyone could read. I mean, literally,

you read that book and you're inspired to go

do something because you're reading the story

of this man who, you know, in his own words,

he was just fun. He was just some kid from Jersey,

you know, and look at what he's accomplished

just by going, you know, instead of instead of,

you know, he accepted the mantra of why not,

you know, instead of instead of knows he was

like, why not? Let's do it. Why not? What's the

worst that could happen? you know, it doesn't

work out, why not? No, he's adapted the mantra

of, you know, don't go where the pucks been,

go where the pucks going, which is something

Wayne Gretzky's father said to Wayne when he

was growing up to kind of give him that idea,

you know, because he idolizes Gretzky and he

really has taken that into his life and it's

shown. I mean, he literally is, you know, look

at, you know, he was one of the One of the first

main major people to start podcasting. I mean

it's him. It's Mark Maron You know it and it

literally is you know He has created this empire

only in podcasting I mean he gave us he gave

us Jay more more stories Who's moved on a fake

mustache studios, which is another podcast which

originated on the smart cast radio network You

know, he he's he brought all this all these talented

talented people together I mean, listen to Hollywood

Babylon if you don't believe me. I didn't know

who Ralph Garmin was because I don't live in

LA. I don't listen to K -Rock, so I don't get

to hear Ralph Garmin on K -Rock every morning.

But here's an amazingly talented man who... He

sits with Kevin Smith every weekend, and they

do Hollywood Babylon. It is constantly one of

the funniest looks at what is going on in Hollywood

today. And it's just a great listen. And now

that show is becoming a television show. They're

getting ready to officially announce. They announced

it at Comic -Con, but they to officially announce

that Hollywood Babylon is going to be its own

show. That's actually going to be a network show.

Probably not a major network, but probably on

a cable network. Yeah, AMC, or TNT, or FX, or

something like that. I mean, it's amazing. And

then you look at the success of Comic Book Men,

the fact that their first episode carrying over

from The Walking Dead had two million viewers,

or something like that. I don't know the exact

number, but I know that the numbers grew every

episode, which led to AMC going, yeah, let's

do a second season. Let's do a full season this

time. I find that amazing, because it cracks

me up that there are so many people that hated

on that show. They're like, you see a lot of

comic book store guys going, this isn't what

real comic book stores are. No, no, I've worked

in a couple of them. That's pretty much dead

on what every store I've been in has been like.

Hmm, you know, it's it's just constant entertainment

for this man who you know Came from literally

came from came from nothing the fact that when

they went to Disney World his parents His parents

basically coerced him into shoplifting at Disney

World, which is one of my I don't know which

I know it's on one of the One of the Q &A is

and it's on one of his podcasts He talks about

it, but that's just you know shows you this man

came from nothing and he's Created his own empire

literally, you know with smart cast internet

radio smart cast internet television on YouTube

All of the sit shows are doing tremendously.

Well, you know, you just you know The spoilers

on Hulu that now has on is on television and

candidates actually on TV You know He's so far

-reaching and everything and you can just tell

that right now. He's just enjoying his life.

I mean, you know Yeah, it's just so, so amazing.

So do you have anything you want to pimp out

for toyworldorder .edu? You. God, I hate you

so much. I'd like to pimp out that I kind of

wish you'd get hit by a bus, but you know. I'm

running out of dot things without actually calling

the website what it actually is. Yeah, it's toyworldorder

.com. And actually, as always, our weekly podcast

there, David and involves Toys and Collectibles

every Thursday, which has myself and Dave Draper

chatting up kind of ADD type, the latest toy

news, as well as just our random thoughts on

toys. our history with toys and whatnot. Married

to the Collection every Tuesday, which is a podcast

featuring myself and my wife, Carrie DeVall,

where we talk about what it's like to be married

to a collector as I am, which is always an intriguing

listen, no matter what we end up talking about,

whether it's toys or just randomness. I know

this last week we talked about Disney a lot,

and now suddenly people are like, you guys should

do a Disney podcast. And it's like, oh god, I

don't know if I have enough time in the day.

You just need to subcontract it out. Come up

with the idea, make the script, and then say,

here, you guys run it. Well, it's funny, too,

because we've actually made a decision on marriage

to the collection. We've had a lot of couples

that are doing the same type of thing. We do

Slick McFavorite and Mrs. McFavorite over at

Open Your Toys Cast. They're like, we'd like

to come and guest star on the show. I've had

a lot of people say, couples going, hey, we want

to be on the show. And we've kind of come to

this conclusion that. Certain episodes we're

just going to let couples literally take over

the show and tell their story because that's

the easiest That's the best way to do it is here.

You guys have a microphone. Tell us your story

Tell everyone that listens your story And Carrie

and I will be back the following week. And that,

to me, is what's great about Married to the Collection

is it just doesn't have to be about Carrie and

I. It can be about other couples telling us their

story with Carrie and I as the revolving co -hosts

for the most part. That's what I told you a month

ago. I know. And it's taken me this long to finally

come to that conclusion, because it was just

like, what are we going to do? We can't have

four people or six people or whatnot talking.

It gets too complicated. You can have four. Four

is, I would say, is the maximum. It's a nice,

solid number. Yeah, four is a solid number. Three

is better, but obviously, in Married to the Collection's

case, it wouldn't work with three. Right. But

if and when, not saying that you guys are going

to do it, but whenever that podcast ends, the

last episode has to be titled Divorced from the

Collection. Oh, don't say that stuff. Good Lord.

Horrible. But we always have new reviews up.

I know BC Direct, my partner in crime at Toy

World Order on the West Coast, has been putting

up a lot of reviews from Comic -Con, a lot of

Comic -Con exclusives. I finally managed to.

Coers Dave Draper into reviewing again, which

a lot of people have missed his toy reviews over

the years See, he always produced great stuff

and he's starting to review again I know that

we're going to be he and I are going to be tag

teaming the helicarrier SDCC exclusive from this

year So that should be a very interesting video

because it's it's massive You know, there's always

something cool going on at toyworldorder .com,

you know, we we've got we've got great fans a

great community and and you know, we are trying

to work out some stuff you know in the future

so yes very awesome so we hope you enjoyed this
