STUDIO 2009
Film Commentary of Coyote Ugly Where The Party Never Ends!

About this Episode
Hey, hey, hey. It's Chaos Queen here and you're
listening to the Geekcast Radio Network. There's
nothing wrong with your podcast player. Do not
attempt to adjust the volume. Hello and welcome
back into our studio. You're now inside to 2009
only on the geek cast radio network I am of course
to join like who can't breathe joining me once
again as always as you've heard is the chaos
Queen. Hi chaos. How are you? I'm doing good.
I got some snacks. I'm ready to watch this movie.
Yes. Yes. We are doing another film commentary
done done done done Today we head back in time
26 years to the year 2000 when Violet Sanford
found out what it was like to be a coyote. That's
right, folks. Chaos and I are using episode 169
of studio 2009 to discuss Coyote Ugly. But as
I said, we're doing it film commentary style.
So you know what that means? I'm the parent.
You're the child running away to live by yourself.
I should be telling you how to live. How should
I live? Simple, don't go. Good luck. There, I
said it. Love you. Put some pepper spray in your
purse. Even if you're not sure, just start spraying.
Tell me that isn't yours. Of course not. That's
a two -bedroom. I heard that there might be a
job opening. Please start Friday night. You're
giving me a job? Coyote Ugly, why would you name
your bar that? Because Cheers was taken. get
you started okay no problem okay I've never had
anyone stare at my ass for half an hour so I'm
gonna say good night just for the record I was
only staring at the first 15 minutes When, uh,
when I do the countdown, you're going to hit
play. Watch along with us. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I will hit play. Not ready yet. No, no, I'm saying
when you say the countdown. Yes. I hit play.
They hit play. We hit play. We all hit play.
Because we're watching it together. Yes, exactly.
Just push play. Push play. Not right now. Soon.
What year was that? Oh, I can't believe I'm going
to do this. Hey Google, what year did Aerosmith's
song, Just Push Play release? A year later. Just
push play. You know, you're going to love it
anyway. All right. Coyote ugly folks. For those
that don't know, it was directed by David McNally.
It was written by Gina. How do I pronounce her
name? Yeah. Hold on. Wait a minute. Oh, Gina
Wenkos. Wenkos. It has an uncredited writing
credit for Kevin Smith. I don't see, thankfully,
a lot of Kevin Smith humor in this. I see more
heart than humor. There is humor. It is a comedy
drama. But I see more drama than, I don't know,
there's like a couple of comic book lines in
it that Kevin might have written. Like one of
the characters is obsessed with, uh, Spider -Man
number one 29, which is the first appearance
of the bunnisher. So I can maybe say that Kevin
maybe had the like, Oh, look, I wrote this one
line in this one movie. I don't know. I've loved
this movie for the past 26 years of my life.
I've never seen it. There you go, folks. I love
this perspective. One of us has seen it his whole
life and the other person hasn't. So fresh perspective,
even though it was a critical and audience flop,
it did make its money back and it has since.
uh become a cult classic it had a budget of 45
million and it made 113 .9 million dollars now
that's in the year 2000 standards that's not
adjusted for inflation or anything like that
but that's usually how those things go uh the
cast includes this is the debut of piper pair
bow yeah piper pair bro uh adam garcia marabello
maria bello bello Uh, John Goodman, uh, guest
stars in this as, uh, as, as Piper's, uh, character's
father, uh, Tyra Banks, uh, is in this as well.
Yep. Absolutely. Yep. Yep. Yep. And, uh, this
is going to be fun. This is going to be interesting
and we're going to get all of our, well, you're
going to get our reactions live as we watch the
movie and stuff. But we're going to get all our
aftermath thoughts and closing thoughts at the
end there. Oops. That's the other thing. Oh,
and the other thing I should mention, this is
actually based on the Coyote Ugly Saloon, which
is a real thing. So the character that Maria
Bello plays is based on Liliana Lovell, who is
an American entrepreneur who founded the Coyote
Ugly Saloon. and ugly ink level was the host
of the reality TV show, the ultimate coyote ugly
search in the 2000 movie kind of ugly. She was
portrayed by Maria Bella. So the, so it's the
movie itself is a fictional version of real life.
Even those things of, Oh, it's based on a true
story. It kind of is. Yeah, very loosely based.
I don't know how much liberties they took, and
I don't care because I like the fictional version.
So. All right, folks, here we go. We are starting
at zero in three, two, one, click, hit your buttons,
all that stuff right now. Touchdown pictures.
Yep. Volume. Okay. For you. Yes, sir. Is it too
loud? Nope. Okay. Brockheimer films, Jerry Brockheimer
pictures and Jerry, I'm a films present. Hi,
Odie ugly. Yep. For those that can't see that,
that says South Amboy, New Jersey. Okay. This
is her acting debut No So cute, yep Mm. Mm -hmm.
Aw. Laundry baskets. Yeesh. There I said it.
What? Oh. He's not wrong Lock in the doors Yeah
Ooh. Ew. Nasty. Nasty. Nasty. Nasty. Wow. That...
Yeah. I need this. Mm hmm. Freezing your assets.
Yep. Okay. Mwah. Guess the walls are paper thin
Beautiful voice. Yeah Hell yeah Yeah. Like whom
Scott looked for. Everything's on fire! Uh -huh
Mr. O'Donnell He he he he he. Yeah, busted minimum
wage bunk I'm almost sure I would have told you.
Huh? Do you know you? Mm -hmm. You're not getting
that in. I'm Atlanta. Mm -hmm. Heh heh. She's
just not ready yet, and that's not good That's
not good at all Mmm Wave bye -bye to the frozen
assets Yeah Why you should live in Kingston,
Massachusetts. Nothing like this would happen
there. Oh, please. Okay. Yes, technically it
does, but like it happens more often in New York
than anywhere else on the East coast. Here we
go. Buh. There! Coyotes You okay? Yeah Yeah Where'd
that come from? That was a fun way to put that
yep Oh my God. Yo. And this is exactly why this
is episode one 69 of studio 2009. So they're
sort of bartenders sort of dancers. Yeah. They're
dancing bartenders. Yep. God, this soundtrack
rocked. Oh, girl. I'm sorry. Sorry. Man they
are wasting alcohol. Yeah, that's alcohol abuse
right there. Yeah Jersey. Yeah Yeah Oh boy You
just a what God This is hilarious Yeah, this
is a lot but it's a bar so I've never seen a
bar like this. Yeah, and you're probably never
gonna see a bar like this again Ha ha! Definitely
awesome. Yeah, that's fun. Liar! KFC. Where's
my tape? Get around. Hmm. Hmm. Oh damn. Well,
I mean, you know. Twice. Shoving problem. I've
sent. So the whole point is they're not supposed
to touch I mean unless you know Poor Lou. Oh,
no. That's not, no. Oh. Why are we once? Yeah,
I'm pissed Mike's pissed She set her up though,
that's not right like that that ain't cool She's
like, okay, maybe I can do this Ha ha! Mr. O'Donnell
I love this. So funny. Oh my god. Chaos is so
speechless at this scene, folks, where Mr. O'Donnell
is stripping on the bar. Call that exactly stripping.
Well, he is kind of. He took his shirt and his
belt off. Oh, just wait. Oh. Well, you almost
saw the butt he saw his tiny whitey's Oh, what
a scene. Poor guy. I've been there, lady. Come
on. I mean once. That's right. Get in the car.
New York trick. True. That's so cute. That's
right, he's rugged and manly. No. It is. It's
adorable. Hehehe. The next job. He he he. Yuck.
Aw. Good morning. Good morning! Oh, God. They're
so cute together. They are. Have a nice day Oh
That was adorable yep They pushed him out into
the crowd that's funny It's not a son. So the
whole thing with coyote ugly is it's supposed
to be this big secret. And now it's getting all
this, uh, you know, Oh, this night's getting
out of control. And she thinks ice is going to
help. Pick it up. That's so cool! Ha ha! She's
like, fuck yeah. Look at that. Oh, God. Aw. Yeah,
I Love it. Yeah Yeah Yeah Hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
Yep. Got it. Check. Oh my god, adorable. Yeah,
they're so good together. Nah! Hmm. Disappear?
Mhm. Love that change the lighting change when
he turns the light off and then he blows the
kit like it's like There's no other lights in
the entire room except for the one light that
he turned off and then the candle Oh my god,
look at that thing. It's 26 years old. I mean,
come on now. Yeah Yeah Mm -hmm. That's some fire
right there Oh, yeah cowboy Oh man, wet leather.
Yeah. That's uncomfortable. I wonder how many
takes of this they had to do. Yeah. Right. How
much falling. Oh no. Yep, the one night he shouldn't
have showed up. What's that, sir? Guys, I have
no idea what to do. That guy in the green shirt,
I swear I know him from somewhere. I swear I
know him from somewhere, I just can't remember
where. She gave up his. Yep. Oh, yeah. He didn't
put part of the story. Isn't really told because
he sets up the elbow room gig for her to get
her whatever, but I guess they didn't. It's to
set up the conflict to get the stuff that we
get later in the movie. And that's where it goes.
Now that's where it sets it up, where she can't
leave this. And part of the consequences where
he shows up to see why she can't leave. And he
gets pissed because of this here as. You know,
this scene here that is happening, he pulls the
guy off the bar. Yada yada yada and all the trouble
that's happening now and the comic book and yeah,
it's a whole thing. This is why Lil doesn't want
your boyfriends in her bar. Yep. Boy yeah, oh
yeah, that's rough So it I don't know he I Understand
the emotions between the two of them, but I don't
know Here we go. I told you not to break the
rules I forgot she had that photo of her and
her mom. Uh, first marriage? That was the best
worst forced smile I've ever seen yeah Oof He
he he he he I find it ironic that somebody can
break into her place fairly easily, but then
later in the movie she can't unlock her door.
She probably added more locks to it. Okay, I
understand that, but I don't know. Oh no. Yep
Well, that's good, I mean it's bad, but at least
it's not you know, yeah Oh Yeah, but David don't
I Forgot he was in that movie That's a movie
we should do commentary on. Oh dear God. Yes,
ma 'am. All the tapes came back rejected. She
assumes, but she's wrong. It's just a sublet.
No No that never Yeah, that had to have felt
real good hmm hmm hmm hmm I'll kill you. Might
be only one message, but it's the most important
message of your life. Yeah. The paper went by
too fast, but I noticed like four different bands
that I know. Eve six and a couple others. Yep.
Nice. Jesus! One, two, three. That's adorable.
No. Ha ha ha Come on you can do it All right
It was this okay, I know it was this Haha. Yeah.
ha ha ha ha Seventy -five! My god, no! Put some
of it back on. Oh my god! Ninety -five! OK, this
is weird that I'm going to say that this is so
wholesome. This is really wholesome. So. That's
right. And that's it, folks. That's the end of
the movie. That was so sweet. Everybody's dreams
have come true. There is no after credit scene
or anything like that. So yeah, the credits are
rolling and man, just... So, Piper Peribaux,
Adam Garcia, we'll go through all the cast here
in a minute, folks, once we actually stop this,
but it just... Wow. Just absolutely just amazing.
So we are at one hour, 35 minutes, 36 minutes,
and I am going to hit the stop button right now.
So we are stopping right as we see part of the
cast thing here. So that's that folks. And yeah,
that's coyote ugly. Honestly thought I was going
to hate it. I had no idea what I was in for that
was awesome. Yeah. Cause I showed you the true.
So I showed you a bunch of trailers, uh, previously.
for films that I knew I wanted us to cover together
on the podcast. Uh huh. And some of them you
said yes to based on the trailers and other ones
you were kind of maybe and whatever and whatever.
This is one of the ones you had said yes to.
I don't think you remembered the trailer. Uh,
no. Oh, and I didn't show you the trailer before
we started the movie. So, but yeah, no, uh, overall,
what is your main takeaway from this film? I
really like this was done when there was like,
you know, reasons there were there were morals.
There were things that were instilled in the
movie. Yep. You know, like this girl, like she
thought all along that her mother just couldn't
do it. Couldn't do it. Quit. Yeah. And then I
think finding out. That you know she quit because
she you know wanted to be a mom yeah and that
her father was regretful for not. You know being
there for her to support her dreams yeah. And
then you know telling his daughter you know you
gotta go for it you're amazing. And it was. It
was really really great and in that scene with
them all on the bar. Oh my god Okay, the weirdest
Wholesome moment ever. Okay Like because those
girls became her family. Yeah You know and so
it was like they were they weren't just dancing
with her dad like all seductively or whatever
Hey, this is dad. Yeah, this is dad. This is
friendly fun. Yeah. Yeah, this is not it wasn't
just like yes there are scenes in this movie
where they are dancing on the bar where they
are sexy they are seductive they are throwing
water on leather and getting wet and doing the
wet t -shirt the wet leather whatever thing but
it's very dangerous dancing okay yes yes yes
yes you wear those heels with all that water
oh dear god very true but they pulled it off
they did I wonder how many takes it took. I don't
know how many takes it took, but they pulled
it off. They pulled it off. You know, we always
make a joke about, Oh, 69 bounce trigger. All
this and everything else. So we, we try to do
you and I have always, at least in the last two
and a half, three years. Every time 69 comes
up, we try to find some sort of sexy. I at least
try to find some sort of sexy type film to, but
it's not just the sexy part. Like it's a romantic
comedy drama, but it's like I said to you before
we started, I feel like it's more. There was
a lot happening and this is an hour and 40 minutes.
Yeah under two hours like and The payoff was
amazing. It was like, okay, all of these things
are happening All of these things and they lay
it out so amazingly like her dad his health.
Yep everything like that and her dreams and how
everything comes back in the mail and there's
a nasty letter from the postman and Just everything
that is laid out And then it just all has follow
through. It all has closure. Yep. And in what
an hour and 45 minutes. Seriously? Yeah. It's
an hour. I'm pretty sure. Let me double check.
Let's see here. Coyote ugly. Yeah, an hour and
41 minutes. Yeah. Yeah. Damn. But yeah, no folks.
It just, it's one of those. And this is why I
miss. these types of movies. When we were, when
we were watching this, it's like, I didn't really
mention this in the commentary part of the film
as we were watching it, but the, uh, the way
that New York is presented. And again, this movie
came out in 2000. This was, this is going to
kill me to say, but the brief shot, I think it's
one shot in the film. We see the two, the twin
towers. freaking one year before we won't ever
see them again kind of thing any movie before
2001 that you get to see the world trade center
it's a special movie i don't care how bad the
rest of the movie is if you get to see the if
you get to see the world trade center in film
however they shoot the world trade center it's
amazing to me it doesn't matter what Spider -Man,
even though Spider -Man came out a year after
the attacks, it came out in 2002. They filmed
it before all of that happened kind of thing.
And you see the, and again, it, to me, like a
lot of the things that had mentioned in the commentary
part is cause I'm mentioning them here now. The
visuals of New York, the various parts of the
city, the grungy parts of where she lives, the
bridge scenes, the. Where the clubs are where
the fish market, right? All I can hear it. It's,
it's not in, um, it's not an Adam. Adam Gert,
is it Andy Garcia, Adam Garcia? What's his, what's
his name? Adam Garcia, not in his voice, but
just in some New Yorker's voice. All I can hear
watching that fish market scene is some guy fresh
fish. Like that's all I can hear in my head.
What were you going to say? But yeah, that is
like that is like Not like New York City like
what everybody romanticizes about New York City,
you know Broadway and everything like that. That
was like the real city that was you know That
you you pay a lot of money for that gross ass
apartment that she had. Yeah Like it and that
is the truth. That's what's real and I did love
that part but the whole Comment you made about
you know, oh that's you know, that's New York,
you know when her apartment got broken into Broken
into that's not me you work. That's anywhere
that is anywhere now mind you I have lived in
various portions of New York, right? I'm originally
from around Albany, New York. Okay. And now,
yet now I am really upstate. Yeah. You're practically
in Canada, practically in Canada on the other
side of New York. And, but this place where I
am now is like full of suburbs and you know,
stuff like that. Yeah. When I made the comment,
I mean like, New York City, like downtown, like
where they are, where, because it's meant to
show that it's a bad. It's a bad place. Bad neighborhood.
Yeah. Yeah. That's really what I meant. And yeah.
So. Okay. Well, but that's why she had such a
hard time getting in because she added all those
locks because she was afraid. Yeah. Very true.
Very true. Yeah. Young girl living in that kind
of neighborhood. Yeah. I'd have a whole shit
fucked on a locks too. And what like we said
like I said the commentary those walls paper
like oh God paper thin like wow Just just wow
Yeah, like that was like worse than like a house
like I mean like in some houses the the walls
are so fucking thin. It's ridiculous But this
was you could see the wall bouncing with the
lady Holy shit balls. Yep. Yep. Yep. I mean her,
her playing her music on the rooftop. Oh, I love
those things. I love the kid. Yep. Oh God. With
the guy that was doing the dances and stuff when
he had his music blaring and her using part of
that music to add to hers. Yeah. That, that collaboration
was so good. That was amazing. That was so good.
I just love this movie so much. There is you
know a little bit of it Karen there, but yeah,
it's not like It's Overlookable I think it's
not like oh my god this one scene makes me never
want to watch this movie again Like oh no, no,
it's got some great cringy moments like when
Tyra put ketchup all over her hand. I was like
Girl I know you try to be sexy, but that shit
ain't sexy That was funny it was funny that's
really funny I I haven't watched this in so long,
but I say this on the podcast all the time folks
you've heard me say this every episode we talk
about a movie any movie that I absolutely love
movies essentially live in my head and I sometimes
I can get the line completely right and then
sometimes I might be a little off but like just
you know it's not just a comic book it's the
first appearance of the Punisher It's the holy
grail of comic books like it, you know like no,
but that's what he said Like but like I haven't
watched this in like, I don't know Seven eight
nine ten year like I don't even know let me even
go over it I don't even know if we've ever if
we ever done. Let me go over here Over here over
there. Oh, yeah over there over here over there
Don't even know if on geek cast radio. We've
ever done coyote ugly before I don't remember
if we ever have I really don't But yeah, so Yeah,
one of the things that I Was paying attention
to this time for this watch through Nope Never
have Wow, we have never covered this film. Hey
This is a geek cast radio network first folks.
And I'm glad I could do it with you. There we
go. Uh, but yeah, no, just point was, was that
movies, certain movies live in my head and certain
lines and certain things and whatever will come
to me immediately. And this movie, as soon as
I see something, I'm like, Oh, just my Britain,
the mouse in my head, the wheel. Like he's not
even chasing cheese. He's he's He's chasing the
wet leather in my head or something. I don't
know I don't know what he's chasing in there,
but he's running that wheel and the projector
is going and I Just know these movies that I've
seen and I've seen this movie I don't know five
or six times in the last 26 years. So not that
like Movies that I would usually watch a lot,
it's like 20, 30, 40 times. If I've watched them
over and over and over again, I absolutely love
them. This one I've seen five, six times maybe,
but I still absolutely just, it just sticks in
my head. The soundtrack to this is funny because
it's so good. So good. The crazy thing about
this is I got the soundtrack before seeing the
film. Oh. At the time, back in 2000, it was,
I don't know, it was like a week. Sometimes they
released the soundtracks like the Tuesday before
the Friday of the film coming out or something.
And I knew it was Leanne Rimes, but I like Piper's
version better. It just doesn't sound right with
Leanne singing. I know it's Leanne because it's
Leanne's song. Like she wrote it for the movie.
Come on click i clicked you work work wikipedia
work i'm not paying you but you need to work.
Rhymes originally auditioned for the two thousand
film cayenne island in the same camp at the ending
with her repair room but once rhymes watched
some of the cuts of the film she decided to provide
the singing voice for all of the songs somewhere.
Really. So that is her singing really? That doesn't
sound like Leanne to me Wow, she actually okay
damn damn That's a good actress right there.
Yeah. Yeah, exactly Wow, that's crazy. I love
it. Yeah, that's awesome. I didn't even know
that about the film Didn't even know that that
was her. I thought that was Piper's singing voice.
That's nuts. Because to me, like when they, when
they start the, when they put the CD in at the
end and, uh, Lil announces Leanne, Leanne comes
up Leanne's voice live sounds different than
the, yeah. Yeah. So that's why I'm like, Oh,
so the recording voices must be what Piper's
singing. I don't know if Piper sings or not.
Uh, now I don't know if one will never know your
whole world. That's just your whole mind's been
blown. Yeah. Just wow. Crazy. But I mean, yeah.
So, you know, you got four Lee and rhyme songs
on here. Can't fight the moonlight. Please, please.
Please remember the right counter. I love the
right kind of wrong, right? Kind of wrong. I
love that song. So good. So good. Uh, but I do
love you. Uh, and then we get Don Henley's all
she wants to do is dance. EMF's unbelievable.
What has been my theme song for a long ass time
when I need a good one. Uh, the power by snap.
Love that song. Need you tonight by NXS. Love
that song. That's right. Absolutely. Boom, boom,
boom by rare blend. Love that one. Uh, I don't
know the last two there, but But yeah, no That's
cool more music for what was more. Oh These are
the other ones. Okay, so one way or another by
blondie Sorry, the only one the movie that I
like stuck in my head with that swing. Yeah,
I'll give you one hint Do you get it? No, go
ahead and tell us. Huh? I can't think of the
name. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. It's like,
oh my God. Oh no, she didn't get it. Oh no. When
was that in there? Sanderson Sisters. Oh, focus
focus. Yes. You know, you didn't you didn't get
book. No, because I've never Yeah, no, I've never
seen hocus pocus. Okay. All right. Don't be doing
that one. Yes, ma 'am. Yes, ma 'am. I'll add
it to the list. All right, but we got other songs
in here you got party up up in here DMX you got
fly by Sugar Ray. I will survive Gloria Gaynor.
You got death deaf lepers pour some sugar on
me fly away by Lenny Kravitz. Most of these are
just like little snippets of these songs of this
one, which is fine, but it works. That's that's
the cool thing. Yeah, like They appear in the
film. I wish they were on one of the two released
soundtracks, but you can always go now, especially
nowadays with Spotify and Apple music and whatever.
You can go find these songs and make your own
playlist and figure it out and whatever. But
yeah, no, absolutely. Yeah. No, when that, um,
when that reverb hit. I was like, Oh, that's
right. I forgot about the cowboy scene with kid
rock song cowboy coming up. Yeah. I was like,
Oh, there we go. Yeah. You got Elvis in here.
This, this movie just look past the dead. I don't
want to sit. I'm going to say that they're not
naked, but sexy ladies dancing on a bar. If you
look past that part of it, there's so much more
to this movie. Absolutely. That was like nothing.
Okay. Yeah there I mean I was mesmerized by the
cute little blondes booty in that black outfit
with that black song I digress there's a whole
lot more to the movie like This girl is like
terrified, but she's showing such a bravery at
every stop, you know And I Really I really love
that. I just really love the emotion that The
actors put into it. Yeah, there was so much more
than just you know bar dancing who's he's Who's
he what's it's who's he's what's it's right?
Although although I will say blondie Blondie's
got some Magic. Which one? Oh, the one that was
in pink at the at the Oh, Cammy. Yeah, that one.
This is Isabella Miko. Let's see. That was her.
Yeah. Oh, wow. Well, this was 2013. So that was
13 years after the after the movie. For the photo
that's on Wikipedia. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. So she
debuted in something called pan cliques. I can't
even pronounce that. I can't even pronounce that
in 1988. Coyote Ugly. Oh, she was in the Forsaken,
which is the film stars, Chris Smith, Brendan
Scherr. Oh, no, I'm thinking of Queen of the
Damned with the song Forsaken. Oh, God, no. It's
not wrong, that's all else. She's been in some
crazy things. So she was in Coyote Ugly. She
was in Bye Bye Blackbird. She was in House of
Usher, Save the Last Dance 2, Dark Streets, Double
Identity, Clash of the Titans in 2010. Wow. Uh,
starving in suburbia step up all in the frontier
for television. She debuted in 1993. Yes. I'm
just saying this girl been around the block.
Her, I guess, U S recurring cast debut on season
two of deadwood in 2005. She was in the Cape.
uh as a recurring cat she was in a show called
chaos chaos comedy drama television series that
aired on cma oh i never heard of that never heard
of that either Love bites. She was in an episode
of law and order special victims unit. She was
in She's one of those natural. Yeah, she's one
of those actresses that that does episode here
there she does have so like she was recurring
cast member in season 3 of Chicago fire. I love
Chicago fire. I got to rewatch that show at some
point She was in the mic for an episode. She
was in SNL She was in NCIS Los Angeles for an
episode that kind of stuff So so she's done that
kind of stuff but Piper parable really is where
so sh Piper Piper parable debuted in single spaced
in 97 She was in White Boys in 99, Knuckleface
Jones in 99, and then The Adventures of Rocky
and Bullwinkle as FBI Agent Karen's sympathy
in 2000, and then Coyote Ugly as Violet Jersey
Sanford. I thought, I thought Bullwinkle was
after Coyote Ugly, but anyway. She was in lost
and delirious and then slap her. She's French.
What the hell? I have no idea. I have not heard
of 90 % of these. Cheaper by the Dozen. She was
Nora in Cheaper by the Dozen. I remember. I love
Cheaper by the Dozen. It's got Steve Martin and
all that. Never seen it. Oh, wow. She was in
Because I Said So. She was in Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
Beverly Hills Chihuahua? Yes. Oh, dear God. American
comedy film produced by Walt Disney Pictures.
First, the Beverly Hills Chihuahua series, directed
by somebody I can't pronounce their name of,
Piper Perebro, Jimmy Lee Curtis, and somebody
else as the human leads, and Drew Barrymore,
and something else. She was in Looper. Most recently
2020 she was in spontaneity or spontaneous and
then She was in something last year peak everything
armor apocalypse as Tina for film Television
really is where where it's at for her lately
at least for me Yeah, one episode in season 21
for a guest spot But really where it is is up
here. So she was in one episode of criminal intent.
And then from 2010 to 2014, I need to rewind.
He actually watched this series for the first
time on USA. She was Annie Walker in covert affairs.
It's an American action drama television series.
It's filmed in Toronto. We're gonna have to watch
that too. Yeah, we're gonna have to watch this
together. It's a spy type of series. It's very,
very cool. Yep. Very cool. Oh God, Notorious.
Notorious was so cool, but it got canceled. The
show is based on a real life criminal defense
attorney, Mark Grigos and Larry King, live news
producer, Wendy Walker. Uh, Notorious series.
Seriously, really? Okay. They're not. Okay, fine.
Then I guess it was really fun season But lately
she was in Butterfly as main cast like we said
Greatest enemy for the one episode recurring
cast season six and seven on billions. She was
in yellow I didn't watch Yellowstone at some
point. Everybody talks about Yellowstone. I think
I even have a friend I have a friend that I know
that was on Yellowstone for like two seasons
or something Nice. Yep. Adam Garcia as Mr. O'Donnell.
So Mr. O'Donnell's films. He debuted in 1997
in Wild and then Coyote Ugly, riding in Cars
of Boys. He was in Kangaroo Jack, which is another
one of the director's films directed by the same
person that directed Coyote Ugly. And then nothing
that I recognize after, uh, for TV, uh, he is
in a bunch of stuff. I think house is the first
thing I recognize. He was Theodore Philip Taylor
in one episode of house. Dancing with the stars.
He was himself on 15 episodes of that in 2013,
2014. Uh, yeah, the most recent stuff was 2022.
He was on the Masked Dancer for six episodes
in 2022. Wow. Yup. So that's Adam Garcia, Maria
Bello. I feel like I should recognize her more,
but I don't. Maria bellows debuted in 92 and
something called maintenance for film. She was
in permanent midnight. Oh, she was Rosie and
payback. Is that? Yep. Mel Gibson. That's probably
where I, and then she was in Coyote, ugly, uh,
auto focus, the cooler silver city assault on
precinct 13. Okay. I remember that one. Uh, thank
you for smoking. I don't think I ever saw that
Jane Austin book club. I'm trying to see what
other grown -ups, so an Adam Sandler joint. Grown
-ups two. Let's see. Max Steel. I love how almost
every actor or actress so far that has been in
Coyote Ugly. is in stuff I remember seeing or
know of but is not really in like oh my god they're
in seven marvel movies or they're in this dc
movie or they're in this or in that like none
of them are actually in any of the other things
oh she played mrs smith in the 1996 97 mr mrs
smith series did we ever do that movie from 2005
anyway I don't remember we'll figure that out
later Uh, lately she's been on a eight episodes
main role, Belle Buckley on the waterfront from
last year. So that's what she's doing currently.
And then let's see. Oh, Melanie. I feel like
I've seen Melanie Linsky in so many things. Like
I, every, every time I hear her voice, that that
voice, I just, I'm like, who? Okay, come on.
Where is the two and a half men? Where's the
career list? Damn it. Okay. I love how they have
to do this. Just make me go to the seven different
things. So Melanie Linsky debuted in Heavenly
Creatures in 1994. She was in Ever After in 1998
with Drew Barrymore. She was in Detroit Rock
City. She was in Coyote Ugly as we know. She
was in Abandoned. She was in Sweet Home Alabama
with the Reese Lady, Reese Witherspoon. Couldn't
think of her name off the top of my head at the
time. Flags of our fathers, a quiet little marriage,
away we go, up in the air. Trying to find another
one I know. So far it's not working. Yeah, all
this stuff lately, I don't recognize any of the
stuff that she's done in the last 10 or 11 years.
And even though there are plenty of more actors
in the movie folks the last one we're gonna talk
about is mr. John Goodman Mr. Goodman debuted
in Eddie Makin's run as Herbert in 1983 He would
go on to do Revenge of the Nerds in 1984 We have
never seen to this day, I think there are four
of those I've never seen any of them He was in
Always in 1989. He was in Arachnophobia in 1990
as Delbert McClintock. He was King Ralph. He
was Ralph Hampton Gainsworth Jones in King Ralph
in 1991. He was George Herman Babe Ruth in The
Babe in 92. He was... Oh, man, he was in the
hood sucker proxy. Oh, that's right. He was the
new. I need to do a podcast on this movie. I
figure that out anyway. Uh, yes. Yes. Oh, yeah.
Wait, where is that? Why isn't that listed right
there underneath? Yes. Yes. The hood sucker.
Yes. Yeah. But now I do, ladies and gentlemen,
he was Fred Flintstone in the Flintstones in
1994. We'll definitely be doing a podcast on
that movie. That was funny. It was Santa Claus
in Rudolph the Red -Nosed Reindeer in 1998. So
he was a voice for the animated. Oh, wow. It
was for that. Jack Bull. Brother, we're out there.
Okay, ugly ugly. My first sister telling. He's,
he's Sully. James P. Sullivan. And Monsters Inc.
I love that. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Clifford's
really big movie. Yep. Yep. Yep. He also does,
uh, does Sully as a voice cameo as a, as a truck
in cars. Oh, wow. Yep. Yep. Uh, let's see. Evan
Almighty. Evan Almighty. Yep. Yep. Uh, princess
and the frog. He's in that. Oh, uh, yo. He was
in Argo in 2012 as John Chambers We was in flight.
Oh, I need to I need to watch that I need to
watch both those movies. Anyway He was hound
I can't believe I can tie coyote ugly to transformers
He was the voice of hound in transformers age
of extinction. That movie is absolutely horrendous
and horrible. You guys can go over to all things
transformers and listen to our commentary on
that one. But having John Goodman, having Fred
Flintstone, having Dan from Roseanne as the voice
of Hound with a cigar in the robot's mouth is
absolutely hilarious and awesome. Isn't Ted Cloverfield
lane Patriots day and Davis. Most recently he
did please don't destroy the treasure of Foggy
Mountain He was Papa Smurf in 2025's the Smurfs
So he was a voice in that animated thing and
then television Like I said, he was he was Dan
Connor on the Ron Roseanne for 220 episodes and
then they brought the the character back with
the Connors He did some SpongeBob, Santa Claus
slash himself in SpongeBob and other things.
The point is folks, John Goodman, simply amazing.
Absolutely love the guy. He's so cool. I don't
think there is a wrong thing in Coyote Ugly.
I love this movie. It's such a good. Hey, Kevin.
How you doing, man? How are you, buddy? Good.
Here it is, man. Flown in from Miami. Check out
the merchandise. Hey, man, no. I trust you. All
right, all right. Look, uh... I don't know what
you're into, but... Amazing Spider -Man number
129 mint condition worth a thousand bucks comic
book. No, it's not just a comic book. This is
the first appearance of the Punisher This is
the holy grail of comic books You call that comic
books? That's so cute Cute it's very rugged and
manly Just a bit geek. Alright folks like I was
saying I really don't think there's a I don't
know I Love this movie Flaws and all. It's, it,
it's just so good. It's just so fun. So yeah.
What are you going to give zero to five with
half points for Coyote ugly? Miss is the chaos
queen. Four point five. All right. I think that
for the time. for the kind of movie that it could
have been and for the kind of movie that it ended
up being. It's it's amazing. It's absolutely
amazing. It definitely has a few flaws, but yeah,
it does. We recognize those. Yeah, but. I really,
I really enjoyed the movie. It was. It was definitely
in my top 20. Oh, wow. It's in her top 20, folks.
Holy crud. Yeah, that's amazing. Yeah, no, it's
one of those movies that, like I said earlier,
I've only seen five or six times, but it's one
of those movies that I feel like. If I really
need to pick me up, if I really need a. Like
just a fun time Head on down a coyote ugly belly
up to the bar and get a shot I love when little
is just something little for me, but I love when
the little lists off all all her favorite men
When he asked her, well, what do you serve here
and she lists off all the names of the drinks?
So good Absolutely. I am also going to give it
a four and a half out of five as well. I would
give it a five, but like we said, we do recognize
the flaws that the film does have and that's
okay. You know, but still four and a half out
of five, still a damn good rating. Still, you
know, whatever it is, what it is and all that
good stuff. Coyote ugly this is episode 169 of
studio 2009 episode 170 I currently have no idea
what in the hell we're doing for episode 170
