Transformers Legacy, Rise of the Beasts, and BotBots Update

Yes. Hello, hello, hello. We are here and we

are talking more Transformers as always. We have

got seven or eight things to talk about tonight.

And first up I found, and I think it's really

cool, the Transformers legacy leader. Blitzwing,

the first look and in -hand images, and wow.

I mean, there are a few things that people might

not like about this, but overall it's a... fully

plasticized version of the Diecast G1 toy as

a leader. This thing looks really cool. He is

a couple of heads shorter than Galvatron. Mm

-hmm. But... Yeah. As he should be. If you look

at the episode where he's trying to remember

the Quintessons, he was never as tall as Galvatron.

He and Astrotrain are spot on for height. I like

how he looks next to Galvatron. That's cool.

Laser Optimus Prime. Yeah, I mean, I'm fine with

it. And I like the character. Not particularly

a figure I would get, but I do like the fact

that he's a triple changer and that he fits in

the size class of like Astrotrain and sits below

Galvatron. Yep, and just slightly below Rodimus,

I think Or is that huh? No, no, that's right

of us. I think here's that hot rod. I'm anyway

Yeah, okay. He's furthered and pretty much everybody

else that they show and they compare except for

quick except for cliff jumper Obviously, but

and Starscream Yeah, well Starscream has his

his vents at the top there Yeah, no, I I really

dig this what I'm I know this is the silliest,

stupidest thing to focus on. What I really dig

is he actually has actual feet, because the G1

toy, the feet were the jet blades at the bottom

there. So, you know, I almost said 22nd century.

We're not there yet. I'll be dead before that

happens. Or 21st century, you know, tooling and

whatever just absolutely looks awesome. Looks

so, so fun and interesting. Can't wait to see

legacy leader class Blitzwing. Yeah, him and

AstroTrain look great. I think the only thing

that I don't like on this is the nose cone in

tank mode. That's a lot of kibble. That's to

be expected. I mean, I understand with where

and how the transformation is and whatever else,

but, you know, I mean, it's, you're probably

going to leave this guy in jet mode or bot mode

anyway. Most people leave them in bot mode, like

any other. Yeah. And then we have a possible,

possible, so take this with a huge Cybertronian

grain of salt. First look at Transformers Rise

of the Beasts, Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal,

as well as Tigatron figures. So, oh boy, interesting

to say the least. I do not like that faceplate

on Optimus. On Prime? Yes, on Optimus Prime.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of that entire Prime figure,

to be honest. Yeah, he kind of I've seen better.

I've seen better come out of out of the tiny

figures Yeah, and to me that just doesn't yeah

and then optimus primal on the other hand his

beast mode looks kind of funky his robot mode

looks For all intents and purposes pretty close

Yeah, and and then you have taiga Tron That's

what this thing says I think it's maybe at the

Oh, it's at the very back of the images, I guess.

It's Tigatron and he turns into a Targetmaster.

Oh, that's, yeah, Targetmaster. That's silly.

Tigatron should not... Tigatron was never Optimus

Primal's... And I gotta say, as much as I like

the face and it looks amazingly like, obviously,

Optimus Primal should... And I understand this

is for Rise of the Beasts and it's based on the

movie designs. I don't like the solid black -gray

color in robot mode or beast mode. I mean, Optimus

Primal was never like G2 neon, but he wasn't

this... Black and gray like his face had way

more color Than than this does what sad is this

is the production? Stuff yes Like I'm not thrilled

at all and hope so here's hoping the production,

you know They take some notes and they work on

it because like the article says this is a possible

first look at these things well Funny enough,

I watched a video that somebody outlined because

this is like the Mayan Aztec kind of logo behind

the rise of the beasts. And what's funny is they

outlined all of the different symbols. And the

top one is a gorilla. You have a pterodactyl

to the right. Yep, you have a Raptor to the left

you have a a cheetah you have a scorpion you

have One of them being a rhino one of them being

a spider one of them being a Tyrannosaurus one

of them being a bird one of them being a rat

So we might see more of the season one cast than

we anticipated Yeah This is part of the Hasbro.

Yeah, Hasbro 2022 thing. Yeah, I think this needs

to be the podcast art. This Rise of the Beasts

images. Yeah, I mean, who knows? As far as I

can tell, with Bumblebee being the standalone

middle movie, we've had six movies. Well, we've

had five movies plus Bumblebee. So that's, you

know, two trilogies, even though it wasn't really

a trilogy of any kind in those six films. But

Bumblebee is like the, the half point because

they're going to be starting a new trilogy with

Rise of the Beasts. And, you know, maybe we're

going to be seeing more of these, maybe not in

this first movie, but in the second or the third

one. Hey, more beasts on screen is amazing to

me. So. I'm just scared of the voice acting.

I know. I'm always scared of the voice acting.

I know. It's okay. We also have a look at the

small look at Earth Spark in this thing. So we

have more Netflix and Nickelodeon. I'm going

to screw that up all the time now. Netflix and

Nickelodeon. Great. So we have that and then...

What else what else you got you got a bunch of

legacy wave 4 stuff, right? Well legacy wave

4 they have Some new releases that are gonna

be coming out in January of 2023 so nothing too

exciting right the they're gonna have a Repackage

of deluxe cheetor. Yep from Kingdom and a deluxe

wheel jack package reissue that's with the PR

and then they're going to have Stunna con breakdown

and then Voyager twin cast which is blaster repainted

It's blue blast and skull grin is supposed to

be with this wave as well Cool So I love this

faucet logo Yeah, I tf is cool tformers does

this a lot with their stuff and it's funny cuz

they're like leaks Yeah That's that's awesome.

That's funny Yeah, like I've said before I can't

comment on on listings Until I actually see images

like I know we got the blitzwing listing a while

ago This is the first time that I have seen images

of it No Well, and then we have Just kind of

continuing on the legacy stuff legacy leader

class wave one found in the u .s. Yep, so at

target in wisconsin they found the Package re

it is a repack of galvatron without the battled

scarring Yep, it's the same figure. So if you

missed Galvatron the first time this is your

time to get it plus like legacy laser optimus

prime Which very cool. I would love to get my

hands. I always wanted laser optimus prime. The

unfortunate part is I don't want the trailer

So if they ever if they I wish that they would

just repack him without it. I Mean, I guess technically

if you bought this figure You could just say,

hey, anybody got a couple of spare beast Megatron

parts for this trailer? Anybody need a trailer

for parts forming and whatever? So, I don't know.

But no, this looks really cool. I will say I'm

glad that they are cleaning up Galvatron. However,

I still want that. other, the reformatted version

more than the cleaned up version. That one is

the premium that they're doing. So there's that,

and then of course TransArt is teasing stuff

left and right. Of course they are. Because why

not? Exactly. So I have the optimal optimus.

Yep. Spectacular figure. Three different faces

the I figured out how they because people were

like, oh, they've got the maximal logo, but if

you look really closely Like almost with a almost

with a magnifying glass There's a couple of little

deviations in the center of it That completely

throws it off. So it's not a copyright issue

So it's funny in that regard, but like the knees

bend, the panels, the feet, the cockpit moves

down, the gun barrels fire out. I mean, it's

spectacular. So they also came up with a primal

prime because why not? I mean, you're waiting

on time to kill, to get your other releases out.

this year and so why not let's do a primal prime

and actually the paint job looks pretty wicked

awesome it i'm like is that paint or is that

just translucent red because i'm sitting here

with youtube on mute and i'm actually watching

the person transform the figure and i'm like

holy crap the colors on this thing are amazing

oh i know and and the the other one now it's

possible that the armor Is translucent and the

bottom is translucent because that's what it

looks like Right and the cannon looks to be translucent,

which they've they've done this with second release

versions of some of their figures so like the

there is a lot of translucent on this as far

as I can tell but the The trends are optimus

primal The first one was solid and based on the

American toy the second release the reissue was

based off the Tikarov paint job. However, it

had a lot of translucent paint, or not translucent

paint, translucent parts. And some of them are

brittle because translucent plastic generally

is. And so I'm assuming that this is going to

be a problem with this one as well because it's

not really meant to be messed with. It's a display

item. So the the translucent stuff I can see

it being an issue because a lot of this figure

is translucent But it's a beautiful looking figure

if you never intend on actually doing anything

with it, but That being said I do love the the

I'm sorry to interrupt Go for it. This is just

okay. So, you know What this red and blue? You

know what that looks like you've seen this video

I've gotten to the point in the video, and I've

actually taken a screen cap of this because I

want to zoom in on it later his head Literally

his faceplate looks like a cranberry bog from

Massachusetts I swear to God, the colors on this

thing make me think of the old cranberry bugs

up in Massachusetts. Well, he's kind of a cross

of Optimus Prime with Optimal. Optimus Primal,

yeah. Optimal Optimus, yeah. Because it's based

off of the original Primal Prime was based off

of the old BotCon Primeval Dawn. Right, yes,

yes. And they took the Transmetal... Basically

the drone that quick strike was in the Transmental

to driver in the matrix and that's what created

primal prime Is the car and so what's funny is

Today Trans art leaked something else. Oh No,

it's another repaint of the same figure And I'll

drop this in the Facebook window. Basically,

the content here is like what they did with Power

of the Primes, the jungle optimal optimus. the

black and silver release. So that's what this

is. So it's got the faceplate. That's the only

thing I wish they would have done with Optimal

is there were two things that I feel they missed

that would have been glorious with it. They could

have sent a faceplated version even though he

never used it. Right and they could have had

a Because they have different faces anyway, they

could have had an optimal Megatron face Yes to

swap it out Yep, cuz up honestly, I probably

would have put that in there about 50 % of the

time just to change. Yeah, and I'm not one of

those weird people that gets like to stuff. I

get it. I get it. I do. The whole buying, and

that can be a whole other separate topic for

another episode, but the whole buying of two,

honestly for me when I would do that is I want

one in box and one out of box. That's the only

reason why I ever did it now as far as why other

people do it, no idea. Yeah. Exactly. Okay, if

the movie Optimus Primal looked like this, as

far as the black and gray coloring, if it was

this black and gray, I wouldn't actually have

a problem with it. I think this looks great.

It's a nice blend of white, silver, dark gray,

and black. charcoal. There's this weird mixture

in there in some red. I feel that if they would

have gone this direction, I feel like it would

have been more to look at. The only red that

he has on him is a few accents in his wheels.

It's not like Optimus Prime's the prime head.

It's not like the prime head has like a red faceplate

or anything. But you know, I don't know. It looks

nice. It looks great. I'm just comparing it to

what the movie design is. And I'm like, yeah,

the toy designs bet the toy coloring and stuff

is better than than the movie design, but that's

just me personally. So there's also, and this

came out literally as we were talking, because

I was like, I can't help it. And it's in the

chat too. They also leaked more images of their

upcoming Transmetal Megatron. Ah, yes. And they

don't have anything painted yet, but they've

shown that he's already going to have his swap

out for his tail where he has the golden disc

reader with the partially shattered golden disc.

Right. Yes, yes, yes. So it's going to come with

that. It's going to light up. It's showing here

his feet and part of his legs and showing that

the dinosaur toes and the bendable part with

the skateboard aspect are all die cast. What's

going on around here? So the nice part about

this is they show the diecast on his feet and

on the wheels and the wheels actually have springs,

like hydraulic springs on them. But there's multiple

elements to the feet that are diecast and I just

love it. I'm very, very excited for this thing.

I'm waiting for colored photos. Yes, we need

colored photos. We need photos that are colored.

Yeah, this thing does look really, really awesome.

It's going to look like the show and I cannot

wait. Honestly, what's sad is it'll be the biggest

figure in my case. It actually is taller than

optimal. Yeah, but it's by like half an inch

That's cool, so That's the one gripe everybody's

had about this optimal mode mold is that he's

not tall enough for a masterpiece Right, whereas

the rest of theirs are masterpiece scale. Yep,

so I mean he'll be a little taller than primal

the Transmetal but he'll actually be a quarter

of an inch taller than optimal But for that for

that like to me this is like the ultimate Transmetal

like the ultimate Megatron from Beast Wars. Yep.

So this is when he did the most damage Yeah,

so This one is well worth it and then just you

know waiting till legacy for the dragon again

Yep So but yeah, I mean that's pretty much all

I had but I'm I'm more in the Right now, I'm

more into the third party stuff instead of the

Hasbro release stuff. It's only because I'm waiting

on this Megatron, waiting on their rat trap from

Trans Art, and then Legacy, basically Voyager

Inferno and Dragon Megatron. Very cool, very

cool. And then I'm done. Until they finally make

a cloaked Megatron. Yeah, if that happened, then

yeah. Or if they made a... Add -on for the dragon.

Well, there's that, but I was going to say if

they actually made a Megatron head that actually

the inside of the Megatron head is so you can

store all your other figures. So the Megatron

head would basically be the size of Unicron,

but it would be a hollowed out head. No. I don't

feel the need to have that. I had the original

one when it came out in the early 2000s and it

was nice, but it was like way too small, but

it fit on Fort Max as a head, which was funny.

Wow. Very cool. Very cool. So yeah, I don't I

don't feel the need for that and now if somebody

win the legacy version of Megatron comes out

and they make a upgrade kit for him I'm hoping

that they made a beast machines upgrade That

would be good never know you never know and Last

and I'm sure Steve will say most certainly least

but I'm gonna say not least BotBots premiered

on Netflix March 25th. Steve watched the first

episode. I watched all ten I will be getting

other people on a full season review in the future,

but Steve I Don't know I thought it was get on

your soapbox. I just I didn't like it. I I'm

not gonna beat it up. I hate the animation style.

It reminds me of like the Thundercats war and

every other Cal art show that they come out with

that looks the same with the eye beady eyes and

goofy looking mouths and I Don't really care

for the humor. I mean I get it. It's funny to

some degree, but it's not something I was sitting

there watching it going. Yeah, this is not one

I'll ever show my kids It's okay. Now. Let me

ask you. Why won't you show this to your kids?

Basically the the some of the off -color jokes

the the premise of it the Just a lot of the...

Yeah, they would find it humorous, but it's not...

I don't find it very intelligent. I don't know.

I feel safer with them on Rescue Bots and Rescue

Bots Academy because it's actually teaching them

something. Whereas this, it's... We're running

around a mall trying to fit in with trying to

get back to... It's basically another Transformer

faction. Trying to meld into another faction

of sorts and granted I've watched the first episode

But honestly from what I've seen of the first

episode. I don't care to revisit it Okay, I may

watch it like just with a critical eye Like just

for review purposes, but I will never watch it

again is my my likely thought How old are your

boys currently? Six and nine. Six and nine. Okay.

What if you waited until they were 12 and...

See, even then, I don't think I'd show it to

them. I don't like the... I don't like writing

like this or the animation. And honestly, the

animation does nothing for them on that either.

They like the CGI stuff. Okay, or anything is

actual robots like they said some of it look

creepy just from the image in the trailer Like

it just didn't interest them either, but it's

not something I would feel comfortable showing

them at any point The funny thing is these are

the same people that work on rescue bots Academy.

Yeah, and and it's a totally different feel and

That's what I like about it Okay, so not to spoil

my future season one review of the show, I watched

these 10 episodes the first week from March 25th

to March 27th. Within two to three days, I watched

all 10 episodes. And yes, I agree it is for kids.

But it's maybe for kids that are 10 to 13, not

necessarily nine years old and under. What I

got from this show was it was a lot more than

meets the eye. Like it's not just, okay, the

basic premise, and this is not a spoiler because

they say it in the opening theme song. Some Energon

hit a mall and everyday objects come to life.

So you've got Burger, you've got Mop Boy, you've

got the Banzai, you've got whatever, and you've

got these robots who are the lost bots who are

essentially their own squad, but they used to

belong to other squads and... I see a lot more.

There's a lot of things to unpack with it that

I don't want to take this episode up to do that,

but I felt after watching it, I was like, this

is the most refreshing thing Transformers has

done since Beast Wars. I wouldn't go that far.

Animated was probably the most refreshing thing

they've done since Beast Wars. This is the most

original thing they've done. Since beast wars

because it is this has nothing to do with optimus

prime has nothing to do with me Yes, the inflections

are there but these are all new look folks. I'm

a continuity addict Absolutely am I would rather

have optimus prime megatron astrotrain blitzwing,

whatever But this show is its own thing. This

is basically Teen Titans for Cybertron is what

it really really is And you're right, the CalArts

style is a little... I didn't find this as cringy

as Thundercats Roar, though, as far as the animation

style. No, I shouldn't give it that, but it's...

Hey, if it's not for you, it's not for you. I'm

not going to sit here and try to convince you.

I will say that I watched Rodimus Primal's interview

with the creators, and I actually want to have

a conversation with the creators as well. But

I watched part of Rodimus Primal's video, which

I will link in the show notes on the website,

folks. But you know, they were saying they wanted

to create something wholly original for children

and they wanted to put lessons into it. And there

are a lot of, a lot of us have felt lost. A lot

of us have felt like we don't belong. A lot of

us have felt like. Yeah. And I get that. You

know, I do understand that. I just wish the packaging

was better. To each their own, I guess. Yeah
