All Things Transformers
ATTF v2.0 – Episode 01 – Transform and Transcend

About this Episode
Be sure to check out All Things Transformers
with Steve Megatron and TFG1 Mike. You're listening
to All Things Transformers, version 2 .0. Transformers
episode 1. This is actually All Things Transformers
version 2 .0. I'm your host Steve Megatron Phillips
and joining me this week is... Mike TFG and Blanchard.
Hello. Hello. And Optimus Solo. Hello guys. Hello.
How are you guys doing this week? Well Mike's
hopefully doing better than he was yesterday.
Yeah yesterday was kind of rough. Yeah. All I
can say is, I'm never, ever eating Big Macs anymore.
Okay, too much information. No, it's not too
much information, but anyway, yeah, I'm worried.
Yes, and as for me, I've been going through a
massive revamp of the show, and as you will hear
throughout the progression of the show, new intro.
now listen to. Very much in approval of the new
intro. Yes, it is much better than the old intro
I believe. The old one Mike did not approve of
because part of it was from the original TFWire
intro. I hate that song. I liked the intro and
I think that's why I stuck with it for so long
but I think now that I've got this new one I
don't think I'll ever use that old one again.
throwback type thing not like a older episode
thing but something just as a Space filler somewhere.
Yeah, and obviously not the entire clip But yeah,
other than that I've done that I've done the
artwork for the show Completely redone. I have
four different versions Which will be included
in the post when it's published One including
much of the original element one with a Predacon
Empire element from beast machines one with Megatron
spark And I have another one with the dark glass
fan version Megatron face in the middle Nice,
I've only seen two of those, but I liked them.
Yes It's all new yes all new like the show Yes,
and so this show will run in varying elements
throughout the Hopefully we'll get more guest
hosts as we progress. And much more fan submissions,
which we will get to later. So for now, I think
we will jump into the latest Transformers news.
First up on the Transformers news list is Transformers
Prime upcoming episode titles and air dates.
MSN .com posted various episodes of upcoming
Transformers Prime episodes. Starting with February
11th, we have Masters and Students, where Starscream
uses a distraction to find something far more
intriguing, is what their lame summary happens
to tell us, which actually basically says nothing.
Yes, the actual description that I found on my
actual TiVo or DVR or whatever it is, is a little
more interesting because the description on my
TV says, because I can view up to the 12th so
far, and for the 11th it says, Starscream pursues
other interests while Skyquake battles Optimus
Prime and Bumblebee. Which leads you to believe,
who the hell is Skyquake? Yeah, and I had to
look it up. Apparently Skyquake was a... Generation
2 figure or something that came at the end of
Generation 1 and he was like this brightly colored
plane of sorts, but I don't remember him at all.
He was also later repainted into Machine Wars
Starscream. All black and blue. So I'd be very
interested to see what kind of color scheme they
use on this one. And what kind of style they
use because if they used anything similar to
the... a machine -warred G2 -styled robot, that
would be definitely something cool to see. Or
are they going to just make him look like a Starscream
clone? Hopefully not, because I think they're
supposed to have Jetfire in the show, so that
would be cool to have two big jets. Either way,
it's cool that the very first episode that's
going to air in the, I guess what you can call
the series proper, is for sure at least going
to give us one new character. Yes, especially
to the Decepticons. Yeah, because they needed
a couple. They're a little short. And next on
the list of it is Scrap Heap, which comes to
218. And again, they have, although this description
is a little bit better, Bumblebee and Ratchet
eliminate a swarm of scraplets. I have no idea
how to react to that. I don't know what the scraplets
are unless they're referring to something from
the UK or G1 Marvel comics. Back when that was...
Back when this was first announced, I saw a bunch
of people on Twitter, GeneralTechno and a bunch
of people going nuts over that word, but I have
no idea what it's referencing. I think it could
mean just like a bunch of things that are infused
with like DarkhunterJohn that are just like a
bunch of non -transformers, but I don't know.
So zombie toasters. Yeah. Yeah, according to
the Marvel comics, they're robotic parasites,
semi -sentient robot life forms. about five centimeters
tall. And they're capable of transforming between
two modes, varying between human, animal, nuts,
or bolts. They're going to get attacked by a
swarm of nuts and bolts. Spare parts. It's robot
ants. And it's also a derogatory term for miniature
robots, apparently. Interesting. Yes. Scrap.
That's what I should start calling people when
they irritate me at work. Stupid Scraplet. See
how they react. And then they have two more episodes
listed, Con Job and Convoy. Which, of course,
the word convoy has all kinds of connotations
to it, so that's leaving a lot of people to all
kinds of speculation. Yeah, it's also the Japanese
name of Optimus Prime, but it can also mean a
whole fleet of vehicles, so it's kind of hard
to... Yeah, and obviously con job is probably
something to do with the septicons and who knows
maybe it starts Maybe it starts screaming Megatron
having their little feud of some sort who knows?
That would be cool But I'm just glad to see that
we're almost approaching the time when TF prime
is gonna hit the airwaves again Yes, and we will
definitely be talking about that every episode
in all things transformers Yes, so if you want
to hear our reactions of TF Prime episodes, make
sure you keep tuning in. Yes. And next up on
the news... The Dark of the Moon Super Bowl trailers?
Yes. Yeah. Apparently there's no need to set
up your recorders, folks. Nelson, the administrator
of Michael Bay's official... website says that
the transformers dark of the moon super bowl
trailer will be available on said site right
after it's shown on tv so basically there's no
use in having the super bowl trailer i do find
interesting the movies that they're going to
be previewing during the super bowl besides dark
er besides the um dark of the moon yeah the pre
-game before the like right right after the pre
-game they're gonna premiere their trailers for
the eagle just go with it Battle Los Angeles,
Priest, Kung Fu Panda, Kaboom of Doom, and then
after like during the game is Rango, Limitless,
Thor, Pirates of the Caribbean 4, Super 8, Dark
of the Moon, Captain America, and Cowboys and
Aliens. I've seen the trailer for Cowboys and
Aliens already, and I'm so confused by why that
was made. But maybe it'll be alright. We'll have
to see. But I don't know. There's a few of those
movies that I'm definitely interested in. I want
to see what they do with Captain America. I've
seen the preview for Thor, but I want to see
what that looks like. And obviously I want to
see the preview for Dark of the Moon. So that'll
be cool. Yeah, I'm going to go see Just Go with
It, which actually comes out I think February
15th or somewhere around there. I'm going to
see that for sure. Thor's got me a little wondering
because for the most part, other than the mythological
part of it, I have no previous knowledge with
Thor, so I'm kind of looking forward to that.
The Pirates of the Caribbean, I liked the first
one and the third one. The second one was kind
of meh to me, so I'm hoping the fourth one goes
back to the dynamic of the first film. Yeah,
I liked most of those. Dark of the Moon, I'm
hoping they have something more extravagant than
the 30 -second crap pile we got before. Well,
last year with Revenge of the Fallen, didn't
we get like a two -and -a -half -minute or two
-minute -twelve -second trailer for Super Bowl?
Somewhere around there. Yeah, so they'll do something
more than just some old dude's eye on the moon.
Hopefully they'd like focus in on Shockwave.
Yeah. At one point. For me, I'm most looking
forward to Thor. Like you guys, I don't know
a whole heck of a lot of his background and all
that, but it just, the trailer, when I first
saw the trailer, looked really good to me. I
could care less about Pirates of the Caribbean.
Captain America, I haven't seen, I'm looking
forward to seeing that trailer. And then after
the post -game, I can't believe, I really don't
want to have to bring this up on this brand new
show, but After the post game, we're gonna see
Justin Bieber, Never Say Never 3D, Take Me Home
Tonight. I don't know what any of those are,
but I know that I will never, ever see that movie.
Well, Never Say Never is the name of his movie.
Oh, okay. Yeah, he's saying Never Say Never that
you'll never see my movie. How about we just
go with this? Something happened to the original
reel. And it's unusable. It's like our own Justin
Bieber movie. The horrible thing about the Justin...
It would start with him starting to sing and
then Megatron stepping on him. The end. The horrible
thing about the Justin Bieber movie is I've heard
rumors that there is a 3D hair flip. Nice. Someone
just facepalmed. That was Mike. Nice. In the
next news story, we have some more or some info
on the mainline of the, staying with our little
theme of Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon, mainline
toy info. Basically, I guess there's four different
categories that are going to be out for these
toys. One of them is called Mech Tech, which
is like a weapons, it has to do with like the
weapon system and like how they interact with
each other with their weapons and deployable
weapons and seems like a pretty... much of a
gimmick here that we haven't seen, I guess, as
far as the mainline goes. Then there's the cyberverse,
which to me is kind of completely ambiguous.
I mean, I don't know what that means. And they
don't really give much away as far as what that
means. So I don't know. That's like the Scout
and the Legends figures, but... It's kind of
like putting them in into one category for it.
That's the way I see it. Then there's the robot
heroes, which is kind of deceiving because there
is no robot heroes listed under it. As far as
what I think of when I hear the term robot heroes,
but there's like some action master type things
called robo fighters. There's activators. They're
actually calling these go -bots, which you pull
back and let go and they go forward or whatever.
I don't know. This robot hero part is not very
much Interesting me at all this one This one
seems like they just have to Keep trademarks.
Yeah, like like using robot heroes as a name
of a line That's to keep a trademark Go bots.
That's to keep a trademark obviously I do find
it interesting though the couple of them because
it says one of them is called optimus prime cyber
blaster The only reason I find that interesting
is because it says, key weapon that Optimus uses
to take out the Decepticon threat and save Earth.
So is that giving away something about the movie?
And it says, heroic blaster with light, sound,
and multiple projectiles help children play out
the climactic battle scene. So to me, that's
giving away something about the end. And then
the other one is energon shock sword, which says,
key weapon used by the Nest forces and a key
character in the movie Three Battles. So automatic
converting weapon converts from cyber turning
weapons into the energon shock sword used to
protect earth from the Decepticons So to me,
it seems like those are things that we have possibly
gonna see in the movie. Yeah So, I don't know
how I feel about it, but at least it seems like
it's giving away something there Yes, and then
the last category of toys is a movie speed stars
and stealth force I Don't know I've seen commercials
for the speed stars They're kind of like action
masters slash activators. I guess I Sounds like
there's stuff where you push buttons and they
go. Yeah pretty much But that they're pretty
small. Yeah, like for the stealth force assortment
It says transform and rollout easy pull activation
for partial transformation weapon reveal and
vehicle battle mode so I don't know like These
four classes of toys for the movies, I don't
usually get excited about movie toys whatsoever,
and this isn't helping much. Because, I don't
know, the mech tech just seems like a weapon
gimmick. Yeah, the mech tech is the weapon gimmick,
kind of like what you had on Revenge of the Fallen
with the, oh, what the hell is a gimmick called?
What do they call that stupid gimmick? The mech
alive gimmick that because I have ratchet not
ratchet ravage that has the mech alive gimmick
where you press a button in his mouth opens and
closes So that's probably what tech is to me
what they're doing with this one. I think they've
kind of realized them Most collectors aren't
into the movie toys, it doesn't seem like as
much. So it seems like they're just going all
out towards the kids. I can see kids getting
into the mech tech stuff and weapons being deployable
and being able to mix and match and doing all
that stuff. So it seems like with the movie lines,
they're keeping the tradition of trying to really
go after that new generation of kids. Outside
of the mech tech deluxe Voyager leader stuff,
like the cyberverse and the robot hero stuff
and the movie speed stars in stealth force those
are all marketed for kids but the the actual
mech tech lines of the voyagers deluxes and and
leader you know collectors will will get those
probably yeah but it seems like even with those
though it seems like you know if you're doing
lots of stuff that where you can like mix and
match your weapons and you can like I don't know,
deploy your weapons and stuff like that. Even
those, they seem like they're somewhat gearing
towards the kids. Collectors will buy them too.
I don't know, I'm not going to be jumping up
and down waiting for any of these toys. It just
seems like they're trying too hard to categorize
everything and instead of just focusing on one
section or two, up to three sections in the line,
they're like, hmm, let's make anything we can
possible to try and make money. Yeah, it's almost
like when the first prequel of Star Wars came
out and like you needed like two aisles in the
toy aisle for Star Wars memorabilia type stuff
and like the figures were actually only about
eight feet and then you had like a thousand different
other things. Well the other thing is there's
no denying Revenge of the Fallen as long as it
did last that toy line made them a lot of money.
So, I mean, I know specifically, and I hate to
call him out on this, but it's true, I know specifically
Spada put six hundred and something dollars into
the Revenge of the Fallen line. So, people are
buying the movie toys, whether we, I mean, me
specifically, whether I like them or not. It
is going to be popular because it is a movie
tie -in toy line. For me, it boils down to the
type of collector I am. I have to pick and choose
what I'm going to buy and what I'm not going
to buy. This is an easy one for me to be like,
okay, I can go without these because I'd rather
have money at some point for whatever. I completely
agree. I'm getting specific figures here or there.
I'm not like complete gung -ho, yeah, I'm not
gonna buy anything, or I am gonna buy everything.
Either way, I'm more so, it's specific figures
have to catch my attention, and if they do, then
I'll buy them. If not, then I'm not worried about
it. It just sounds like they're trying to figure
out new ways to market the same damn toys that
they've had for two movies. Yeah, there is one
good thing and one bad thing I see as far as
the new movie toys. Number one, I will not have
to look at the old movie toys anymore, hopefully.
But the bad thing is, unfortunately, it will
mean probably no more of the, whatever you want
to call it, classic universe 2 .0 generations.
I don't think so. I have to disagree with you.
Hopefully it doesn't. Well, what I'm saying is
that one of the greatest things about Transformers
right now since September, October of last year,
whenever they... premiered generations in the
war for semitron toys and all that stuff there
is a lot right now in transformers so people
can pick and choose what they want to collect
you're still gonna have the generations waves
you're still gonna have the power core combiners
you're still gonna have the movie stuff so i
don't think they're gonna take generations away
to promote well and that could be true because
that's also maybe why they have started putting
the the Classics generations universe whatever
you want to call it in the same type of style
package as the movie of toys And that that could
give me a little hope that they're gonna keep
putting those figures out plus We have a bunch
that are still rumored to come out. So right.
Yeah So that's my news about the yeah Continuing
on the Dark of the Moon franchise part of the
movie we have the official campaign of them with
a life -size mech tech gun and bumblebee. And
in this image, they actually have a roped off
Camaro with a huge gun on the top. How does that
gun not crush the car? It's gotta be styrofoam.
I'm just saying that's the only thing that makes
sense to me because the roof of any car, if you
sit on it, it starts bending. You can see it
has a sunroof. Yeah. So evidently it must be
some kind of a, you know, cardboard or Styrofoam
sitting on top of the vehicle as a way to show
off what the movie may possibly show. So we're
going to have a bunch of cars running around
with like these massive guns coming out of them.
That could be interesting. Oh, it just got knocked
off the top of the vehicle. I just went underneath.
A low -rise area, you know. That's why it's on
Bumblebee and not on Prime. Low bridge. Prime
would be like, well I have no guns. My styrofoam
fell off. The wind blew it. Darn it. It doesn't
look terrible. It doesn't look terrible, but
it just looks ridiculous. It looks kind of cool
in a sense, but it does look ridiculous having
this Sleek stylized car and a big monster freaking
gun. It looks it looks ridiculous to those of
us that know how physics work It's an a resizing
shockwave that jumped on top of bumblebee. That's
a good transition actually. Yes Apparently they're
more clear images of the Dark of the Moon shockwave
toy And looking at this thing, I gotta say, this
is really tempting me to buy this toy. This is,
by far, maybe the coolest movie toy I've seen.
I honestly have to agree. Because something about
the face, and then when you fold it down, it
just looks... It doesn't look like there's a
lot of extra robo kibble, and it looks like it's
a badass figure. His chest almost reminds me
of Skeletor. Oh, yeah, the only thing I really
have to complain about is the alt mode. The hose
thing or the gun thing or whatever that black
weapon is, the way that it's sticking out and
on top, I don't know if I really care for that.
See how it's plugged into the alt mode there?
I don't know if I really care. for that, if that
was somehow removable or something like that.
I mean, the toy is awesome. I'm not going to
deny, but that's just my one complaint is that
weapon thing. Yeah. In the robot mode though,
I like that weapon because it's like that little
homage to G1 where you had the tube going to
his gun and whatnot. Like I said, I like his
face. His chest is all new. I've never seen that
on a Transformer and I like it. Don't know. I
just love this figure and I usually hate all
movie figures and he's got real freaking hands
Oh, yeah, that's awesome Megatron arm cannon
Yeah, basically. Yeah The feet are that of The
Megatron from the movie. Yeah, it looks like
he's got an impaler spike on one arm and The
only thing I think they could do better in the
vehicle mode is if that tube were somehow movable
to the rear end of the vehicle somewhere so that
it could still stay on the cannon but it would
be more uniform with the sleekness of the vehicle
form instead of standing straight up. The other
part I like is the, if you're looking at him
in robot mode, on his inner leg, like the calf
part. Little tread type things and then up on
his arms like around his shoulders the same thing.
I like that. Yeah That's very awesome on the
alt mode Look at those front wheels those front
wheels are tiny as hell, but they're awesome
Yeah, I just I don't know something about this
figure. I like yeah, I really like this one Honestly,
I may have a figure I may actually go out and
buy. On the movie line. And I'm not even exaggerating,
it's just... Yeah, I'm not either. I mean, I'm
really digging this figure And you know people
have heard me before On other podcasts I've said
that I'm not a fan of the movie line the only
movie line toy I ever would ever own is is the
ravage that I have from revenge of the fallen
But this thing is I'm seriously thinking about
going out and getting this thing this thing is
awesome and this has to be something that I know,
Steve, you're a person that usually collects
all the Megatron stuff and whatever. For those
people out there that collect Shockwave stuff,
they have to be happy with this. Yeah. And it
does have a nice movie aesthetic to the original
design. Something that will keep fans of the
character very pleased, whereas Megatron, they
butchered him. A lot of the characters in the
films, they butchered. I think maybe they finally
got the hint. They finally got the hint that
we don't like just jagged pieces of metal pointing
everywhere. And if this is any kind of consolation
to what they're capable of doing for the third
film, maybe some of the new designs and new characters
will bode well for the film and maybe they'll
actually do something right. Hopefully. I will
say because I did look at another angle image
that's in the article here. of the alt mode for
shockwave and looking at it from like the the
right side of the left side of the vehicle and
seeing the tube that way it doesn't turn me off
so much but just the way it was in the other
image just was like okay that's kind of weird
but looking at it from a different angle it's
not as bad as I thought this figure says one
thing to me and it says that somebody involved
in the movie is finally opening their eyes and
seeing that, how popular was the War for Cybertron
game? How much did people get hyped up just on
the first five episodes of Prime? Maybe they're
starting to see that some of these other designs,
people like better. Hopefully. Keep my fingers
crossed. Hopefully. Shifting into some other
non - Dark of the Moon, which I still feel weird
every time saying that, but shifting into some
other news, it was just revealed what the mystery
theme for BotCon would be, and I'm going to let
Mike talk about it because it's more up his alley
than mine. As far as I know, none of us have
ever been to BotCon, correct? Correct. For me,
I almost went to BotCon 06. which was going to
be held in Lexington, Kentucky. That was the
year the Beast Wars set was out. Arguably 2006,
the Beast Wars set in 2008, the Shattered Glass
set are BotCon's most popular sets. 2009 with...
Oh God, what was it? Elite Guard, a G1 Elite
Guard, whatever it was, and then last year was
supposedly G2. Weren't that popular, but this
set is going to sell out. It has been revealed
that Transformers Animated... will be the style
of figures that they're going to be using for
BotCon 2011. This is awesome. For Mike. Well...
Actually it is awesome because that means I don't
have to spend any money trying to get any of
these figures. Well, this set I guarantee you
will sell out and they've... They had a... They
played a game on Twitter the other day, BotCon
and Derek J. Wyatt, of throwing out words to
some sort of surprise reveal. And the first figure
they revealed was Dead End, which is a repaint
of Animated Jazz. And I am super surprised at
how much paint apps is on Dead End, because I've
got Jazz here, both in Alt and Vehicle mode.
Jazz is a good figure for Animated. It's a great
car mode. But the paint apps, because they're
Jazz -centric colors, they don't pop to me. Like
they should. What? They're pretty plain. Yeah,
they kinda are, but when they reused him for
Dead End, I mean, there's... He's got purple
headlights. He's got this... I don't really care
for the Decepticon symbol they're using on these,
but he's got a Decepticon symbol in the front
of his chest. He is a maroonish color. He's got
yellow everywhere. I mean, it's just so awesome
that they're doing this. That's part about him
for me is his face and his nunchucks. The nunchucks,
I believe, are the same as what's on Jazz. They're
a little bit darker. The face is an all -new
head mold. Yeah, I don't mind the face mold.
That's what saves the figure for me. I still
will never buy it. a hundred percent enthused
about the BotCon set although they are doing
much better in recent years within the last five
years they've been doing really well with paint
apps and remolds and just the designs in general
for BotCon. Myself personally I'm not that stoked
about it but that's because I'm more so a classics
or a Beast Wars fan than I am animated as far
as toys are concerned. Yeah, the only bot cons
that I've ever been excited about was the seeker
classic seekers But I wasn't gonna spend eight
thousand dollars to get them. So yeah This set
the the five -figure box set will be all of these
stunta cons Too bad they couldn't make them so
they could actually combine Yeah Yeah, there's
no way they they are non combining but just having
them in the animated style I cannot wait Derrick
you know why I also dropped a bomb on Twitter
the other day he mentioned motor master and then
right after that the bot con Twitter said oh
Yeah, it's gonna be all five stunna cons for
the box set. I can't wait to see what they use
for motor master Yeah, because motor master is
supposed to have an all -new head as well Prime
with a new head. I I I don't know Not sure but
it's definitely nice to see them actually thinking
things out more and not having like obscure characters
you've never heard of? See, that's the problem
with 2009 and 2010. You know, they're really,
really obscure characters and the only thing
that was G2 about last year's set was the breakdown
figure. The rest of it was either all UK exclusives
or some really, really obscure character. Well,
and let's be honest, G2, using G2 as a theme
It's not the brightest thing in the world because
that's got to be the least sought after. There's
people like Steve and a lot of other people that
love the Beast Wars and Beast Machines. There's
people that love, and I'm happy for the animated
fans that they're getting their turn here. There's
people that love the G1 stuff, but how many people
really are yearning for G2 stuff? Yeah, really.
Myself, I'd love to see them go back to Beast
Machines since they have done a Beast Wars related
one. and maybe do redesigns of the figures, doing
something better. That'd be interesting. Because
all the figures are kind of ass. Yeah, that would
be very, very interesting. Now I'm looking at
this color sheet that was on the actual dead
end article on TFW. And yeah, that face is just
amazing. And just the overall design of it is
awesome. Again, it kind of makes me wish we had
a Season 4 for animated so I could actually see
these characters in animation. Yeah, I'd be interested
to see, I'm interested to see what all five of
them look like together and how they, because
the trick here for me is if I was an animated
fan, which eventually I might be once I actually
watch the show, but the trick here for me is
can they do five of these figures and make them
look like they belong together and not just like
they're five separate repaints of other figures?
I think they can. Hopefully. It needs to be some
type of thing that ties them all together. Well,
I don't know if there's going to be something
that ties them all together, and yes, the Stunacons
are a team, but if you look at the Shatter, and
I always keep going back to Shatterglass, but
if you look at the Shatterglass Autobots from
the 2008 set, those were all tied together very
well for the most part between... uh... gremlock
and gold bug and rodimus and uh... i was in megatron
uh... rodimus and optimus those were all tied
together very well so i think because the stuntacons
have majority of them have this kind of same
dark kind of color scheme it will work well again
it depends on what molds from animated what other
molds they're going to use i mean obviously they
would use Probably use the optimus the Voyager
optimus prime mold for Motor master. I don't
know though, but this is just This is just so
cool You must be in heaven with the stuff the
new the news items that are Coming out recently
for transformer stuff Because you got the animated
thing as the theme for BotCon you have the next
story Which, again, I think it only is appropriate
if you talk about it. But, I mean, you must be
in heaven with all this stuff. Yeah, I kinda
am, but at the same time, I can't afford any
of this crap. That's the problem. It's too much
at once. That is the only pain. You know, it's
like, you know, everybody's, ever since BotCon
announced this stuff on Twitter about the set,
it's like... Oh my god because seriously if people
want this set you're gonna have to set the money
aside now and and grab it up because I guarantee
you the secondary market for this set because
animated regardless of how Kevin feels or whatever
regardless of how people that don't like animated
feel animated was very very popular There's no
denying its popularity and this set is going
to sell out in the secondary market. I guarantee
you this set will go for thousands and thousands
of dollars Yeah Considering the highest priced
item of BotCon to date is Beast Wars Dawn of
Future's Past Megatron Which generally goes anywhere
between a thousand and fifteen hundred dollars
on eBay by himself Crazy talk. Yes, it is crazy
talk. I wish I would have bought one and ordered
it at the time. I Could have bought one for a
hundred thirty dollars. I'm kicking myself in
the nuts now for it And well, and while Steve
is doing that really quick Masterpiece MP09 Rodimus
convoy or Rodimus Prime has been released Very
very cool. I actually talked with protoman the
goddamn protoman and asked him about this like
how they were able to make hot rod and Rodimus
as one figure and It turns out that the front
of Rodimus Prime is actually the rear of hot
rod There's um, it's not in the I don't think
it's in the images that are in the article here
but there was images of like where the dual heads
and all that stuff is like if you look at that
at that one all image that has like the like
the back of the box stuff on the left side is
the hot rod and on the right side is the Rodimus
Prime where that that piece is on his front end
it's just sitting on the legs of the hot rod
figure so the hot rod figure actually drives
into the trailer head first so yeah that's gonna
be extremely cool and again dammit I wish I was
rich yeah I mean I love all the masterpiece figures
because they look awesome and they take so much
attention to detail and whatnot but it's something
that I basically will never own any of them and
number one because they're expensive and number
two because they're not American made but or
American available you've got to get them online
well now I've only ever seen two in the store,
one being Optimus Prime and the other being Starscream.
I did not pick up Starscream, but I did go out
and spend the $68 to buy Optimus Prime at Target
when I saw him out. Yeah, they generally will
release the Takara version, which is the MP09
Ramus Convoy, which is what he's being called
for them. Nowadays, they're all about Toys R
Us exclusives, so Toys R Us is getting a US version,
but it's without the trailer. It's just the actual
figure. It's kind of like the whole Grimlock
situation, where Grimlock was released as a masterpiece
figure over there, and he was released here at
Toys R Us. One of them had a crown, the other
one had an apron, so there's going to be a different
accessory with the US version. Gotcha. Well that's
at least they're available in the US then. I
forgot that they were. I've seen the Grimlock
one, I forgot that. It's way expensive though.
Yes. So, we will be right back with Ask Megatron.
Now we're back with Ask Megatron. In this section,
because we have no fan submission for this particular
section, this episode, It will be the host asking
the questions to Megatron, with Megatron answering.
So, yes. I believe Mike has a question for Megatron.
What do you think of all the BotCon 2011 news,
Megatron? I could care less. I think animated
is not a good line. Care to elaborate, Mike?
You'd be wrong on that. I think he just... I
highly doubt it. Because Animated does not feature
any primary Decepticons. I would have liked to
have seen the Constructicons. Um, let's see.
Me. Well, Beast Wars Megatron, you couldn't be
featured in Animated, but your descendant was.
He was a badass helicopter. They could have used
TF Animated Grimlock for my... That wouldn't
be a bad repaint actually change the head and
use Grimlock Well, yeah, I saw an image of it
somewhere. They could animated protocols Where
are you right now Megatron I am floating in the
abyss at this current point in time because somebody
Locked me in the all things transformers logo
That's kind of I don't know, that's kind of weird.
Well, it's better than being a drone. Yes, it
is better than being a drone, being that I do
have my regular body. Yes, I will actually be
getting Optimal Megatron hopefully in the mail
here soon in Puggleformer form. What do you think
of the Puggleformer's Megatron? It looks like
a purple Optimus Primal. You mean a blue Optimus
Primal? In any case, it does not look like me.
There is no substitution. Well, you did steal
Optimus' body. Yes, but it had my perfect face.
At least I have a blasted mouth. Sorry. And I
think I'm going to cut Megatron short. I just
closed off his portal. He can't attack anymore
this episode. To hear more comments from Megatron,
please submit. And Megatron will answer your
questions. I wonder if he's either going to escape
from the logo. Yes, I cannot help and be responsible
for anything that Megatron says. Nor will Geekcast
Radio be responsible for anything Megatron says.
He's got his own mind. It's kind of like if you
fail, the CIA will disavow all knowledge of your
existence. Well, that's why he's locked in the
logo. for him to come attack me yes yes in any
case we will be back right after this with the
fan submissions we are here we are waiting and
now we're back in the fan submission area this
will be where you get to leave your comments
questions suggestions anything even just something
to sometimes personally attack us I don't know
I don't care you can send us email Steve at GeekCastRadio
.com or TFG1Mike at gmail .com. You can send
us voicemail and what is that voicemail number?
502 -526 -5821. Yes, and you can also send us
comments, feedback, whatever through iTunes.
And we do use the forum on occasion, but I would
suggest using the Facebook fan page. Yes. Instead,
because that is a more universally located Zone
in a search for a geek cast radio network on
Facebook Start commenting on the discussion posts
under the discussions tab damn it Yes, and also
you can post on the website to comment about
the episodes And I believe Mike has a little
bit of information information on iTunes oh yeah,
actually this has nothing to do with the the
the reformatting of all things transformers version
2 .0 here, but I frequent our Listings on iTunes
regularly for the most part to see if we have
any new reviews and to my surprise There was
a new review for the TFD one podcast This is
by Lord Bruticus. He says great show. It's five
-star review. It was left January 22nd 2011 I
hope you all make more episodes. Sorry, dude.
The show's over I've loved the original transformer
since 1984 when I was a brainy little sixth grader
and have only loved the incarnation of Transformers.
Since then, your show really helped to fill the
void. I can only hope that my new podcast, TFG1
Talk Radio, can live up to some of the great
stuff you've done, except that we will never
be explicit LOL to all I want. Well, you know,
thank you very much for the review. It's great
to have a new review because the last one before
that was... almost two years ago. Even though
TFG1 is dead, it's nice to get new reviews and
people finding us in iTunes and stuff like that.
It's like a TFG1 podcast was locked in a logo
somewhere and just got unleashed. No, this has
nothing to do with Megatron Spark. Thank you
for the review again. As I said, I frequently
check all of our podcasts and iTunes to see if
they have any new reviews. As far as the explicitness,
I've said from day one, podcasting allows me
to curse. I don't normally curse in everyday
life, so it allows me to vent, so that's why
it's tagged explicit for a reason. We're all
adults here. Yes, and we all like to swear. During
podcasts. During podcasts. I sometimes go overboard
out of podcasts, but that is because I'm crazy.
Yes, yes, you are. But in any case, we'll be
right back after some promotional commercials
and we'll be back with the discussion. This is
Optimus Prime and you're listening to All Things
Transformers with Steve Megatron and TFG -1 Mike.
Transform and roll out! Movie Week in Review

And if you're hearing this, it means the Beast
Unleashed podcast is now over. Yes. In the Beast
Unleashed, myself, Steve Megatron Phillips, Pecan
Court Michael Wilson, and TFG1 Mike review Beast
Wars and Beast Machines in the very first podcast
of its kind. Yes. In the podcast, we interview
voice actors, writers from the show, and talk
in -depth trivia between everything in between.

other morons at IGN to take cover because the
geek gods Cas Radio Network's Top 100 Animated
Series of All Time List is coming soon! Welcome
back from the commercials on All Things Transformers
2 .0. Now we're going to get into the... Since
we don't have any TF Prime news right now, we're
going to skip that. We're going to go to Looking
Forward To... What we're looking forward to in
the transformers world this month There's a lot
of things to look forward to actually in this
month I'll let I'm guessing Mike's gonna be looking
forward to like more Stuff as far as back on
goes, but I'm definitely looking forward to the
premiere here of the regular series of transformers
prime That's the number one thing I'm looking
forward to I am looking forward to that as well.
I One of the reasons why I'm looking forward
to it is because I want to know what kind of
theme they're going to use if they're going to
use an intro theme for the show. Obviously they
will, but it was something that we didn't get
in the five -part miniseries. Right. Again, all
out of my price range, but Masterpiece Rodimus,
Hyper Hobby's Black Animated Rodimus. I haven't
picked up yet. Mike has a crush on Rodimus Prime.
Shut up. Actually, there's another person I have
to throw into the bus for this. My crush on Rodimus
Prime is nothing compared to Protoman's crush
on Rodimus because Protoman has almost every
single thing Rodimus ever and he has multiples
of everything. I will never understand that.
Anyways, well, we don't understand the Springer
thing, so anyway. So yeah, I'm looking forward
to the Black Animator Rotomus specifically because
it's kind of like Shattered Glass Rotomus in
animated style. I'm looking forward to pretty
much... A lot of the stuff in the United line,
the United is Takara's version of Generations
and they're more of a shiny figure than the US
versions are. I have held off on getting Generations
Soundwave because I frankly don't like the way
that the US figure looks. I don't like how dull
the blue is and on the United version it's much
more shiny and vibrant. So I'm looking forward
to that. Mike's looking forward to some toys,
in other words. Yeah. Yes, he's looking forward
to toys. Shut up, Steve. Yes. Myself, I'm looking
forward to Transformers Prime. I'm pretty geeked
about it. I'm also looking forward to hearing
more information on the new trailer for TF3.
Shockwave was impressively, anyway. I'm hoping
that we'll get some good quality information
and a good trailer out of Transformers 3. Yeah,
that'd be cool. A lot of stuff right now. Actually,
it hasn't always been like this, but at this
moment in time, there is a lot of stuff to look
forward to in the Transformers world. Right now
is a perfect time to be a Transformers fan, whether
you like the movie, whether you like the comics.
I know we don't cover a lot of comics, but I've
been hearing a lot of good things about Last
Stand of the Wreckers. Well, just look at all
the stuff that's happening. We've had new books,
we have had new games and more games coming.
We got a new cartoon, we got a new movie, new
toys. I mean, there was a time when you... Transformers
fans had nothing happening. Yes, and see the
nice part about all of them are they're all different
continuities Yeah, so if you don't like one thing
there's at least something else that you can
flock to exactly I don't know if it's coming
out. I think it's coming out in February I know
something Kevin would absolutely die to get his
hands on is generations thundercracker. Yep Yes,
yes finally The one I don't have. Well, at least
you didn't have to waste the money through BotCon
or eBay. I know. I'm glad I waited. Waiting can
sometimes be... I would have been so pissed off
if I had spent the money to get those three Seekers
from BotCon and then seen that they all came
out in another form. You get that nice plastic
bag coverage for it when you get it in BotCon
and a little sticker that says, BotCon. Yes.
I can go without that. Yeah. You can buy that
package. Yeah, the sticker's not worth $800 to
me. But anyways, since we've already transitioned
personally into BotCon, we'll just finish off
the discussion with BotCon. I always look forward
to hearing different things that's revealed at
BotCon. I always kind of wish that I could go.
Mainly the number one reason I'd ever want to
go to a BotCon is actually to run into any of
the voice actors that they have there. That would
be my biggest draw. to go there besides seeing
just sneak peeks at stuff that everybody can't
see but this botcon screams Mike to me. Cool
for the toys, yes. But I'm pretty sure that they'll
probably have some of the animated voice actors
being that this is an animated based one. True.
I'm almost wondering if they're going to have
David Kay back again. I would assume so. I would
assume so. I've heard rumors that I think that
he's going to be at TFCon as well this year.
I think so, yeah. Definitely, that would be one
reason why I'd want to go. I pretty much would
just love to be able to get autographs, pictures,
and just talk with the voice actors. That's mostly
my thing. I may not care for the figures and
care for all that money related thing, but I
would care to do the games and to the ... the
voting and the seeing the new stuff and just
meeting people. Exactly. I've said it plenty
of times. If I ever got to go to BotCon, I would
want the full experience. I know of some people
that have said you can go to BotCon for under
$200 if you don't get, not including your...
your package for the convention, but if you don't
get all the extra exclusive stuff, if you just
go bare bones, you can do that. But for me, I've
said this before, I would want the full package
and the full experience of it, being able to
catch all the panels, being able to see all the
voice actors and the other guests that they may
have, whether those are comic book writers or
Stan Bush, for Christ's sake. And that's the
thing about Vakon. The last two years, 2009 it
was in Pasadena in California. Last year it was
at Disney World and then this year it's going
to be at Pasadena again. So I'm wondering if
they're stopping the BotCon is wherever. Like
BotCon 06 was in Lexington, Kentucky. BotCon
08 was in Cincinnati, Ohio. They may have found
their home. What? They may have found their permanent
home. Kind of like TFCon. I mean, I know why
they put it in California, obviously, because
it's a movie year and that's where all the movie
people are. But I wouldn't mind going down to
Disney World one year to a BotCon. That would
be awesome. And apparently a BotCon is 123 days,
20 hours, and 46 minutes away. Because they have
a clock. counting down at BotCon .com. That is
awesome. So if you want information, they don't
really have much information posted yet, but
you go to BotCon .com slash BotCon2011 and they
actually have a clock ticking down until June
2nd. Definitely awesome. They're doing something
with the characters that were elected in that
first class of Transformers Hall of Fame or something,
right, this year? They're probably going to have
a second class of Hall of Fame characters. I
don't know who they would pick this year. I would
assume that they would run it the way they did
last year, where they have four... Well, not
really one from each group, but I mean last year
you had Optimus, Megatron, Starscream... and
Bumblebee, and then Dinobot was the fifth character.
What I'm saying is I think they'll do the same
thing they did last year. They'll have four inductees
as far as characters already, and then the fifth
inductee character will be another fan vote.
Is this something that they're going to continue
doing every single year? I'm assuming they are.
Until we have a thousand people in the Hall of
Fame? What what I'm hoping is that they include
Some of the not so known like not soundwave not
Starscream, you know for the Hall of Fame. Well
Starscream is already in so um, yeah, see I forget
these things but uh Yeah, I'm hoping that they
and I know it's a biased thing I'm just hoping
they put Beast Wars Megatron at least on the
consideration list I'm hoping they fix the vote
because apparently what went on last year is
people could vote multiple times They could they
could only vote once per character, but they
could vote for all five, right? Yeah, and I'm
hoping they whoever's doing their website learns
how to fix that because it's kind of Not really
giving any of them a fair chance at winning.
Yeah Think this Hall of Fame thing. I think it
was so popular last year at the convention I
think they're gonna keep this up for a couple
of years They're gonna do anything though with
the people the characters that get elected are
they gonna give them like some type of special
toy or I don't think so, but basically what it
is is it's it it's kind of like The best thing
I cannot can equal it to is the WWE Hall of Fame
where they have a dinner and they have a speech
thing or whatever where in this case with the
Transformers Hall of Fame last year what they
did was like they would show the nominee videos
and then they would pick the winner and then
who like say Optimus Prime got inducted so they
would have Peter Cullen come up there and say
something the only thing that really pissed me
off about last year was Dinobot won the fan vote.
Scott McNeil was at BotCon. They never had him
come up and make a speech or anything about it.
So as far as Steve wanting Beast Wars Megatron
in there, I'm assuming that this is gonna go
on for a couple of years So he'll be in there
at some point whether it's this year next year
the year after I don't know Unless they figure
that since Megatron's in that's it for that character.
I don't think so It's a different character though.
It's a different I know I know it's a different
character I can see them being like, oh that's
double dipping or something. I don't know. We
already got a Megatron We don't need another
one right? I mean I can see that but hopefully
not Hopefully not. I'm hoping that they do something
with that and I'm hoping they get a lot of varying
guests and hopefully some voice actors from animated
itself. That would be cool. I didn't know they
did the whole speech and the introduction type
thing and that's kind of cool. With having the
animated voice actors, hopefully they have Townsend
Coleman maybe. I know when I interviewed Tara
Strong she said she would love to go to it to
it again as long as it wasn't you know somewhere
in a cold cold place because the only one she's
been to is the 08 podcom which was in Cincinnati
so. Ouch. Yeah. Nice. But alright I guess we
will be right back after this and we'll be back
with the outro. You hold the key to Earth's survival.
