All Things Transformers
Origins of Rodimus Primal on Transformers Origins

About this Episode
You got the touch! Stan Bush here, and you're
about to transform and roll out, only on the
GeekCast Radio Network. The fire in your heart
is growing! Hey, let's stop here! Why settle
for a peek, Daniel, where you can see everything
from Lookout Mountain. A little to the left.
A little bit more. Hello and welcome to an all
-new generation of all things Transformers as
we get the origins of any and all Transformers
fans that we can. I'm of course TF2 and Mike
and today's guest is none other than the one
true leader of the Autobots, the one true bearer
of the Matrix, it's Rodimus Primal. Hello sir.
How you doing? Pretty good, pretty good. We're
gonna transform and transcend here and all things
transformers with the 26 origins questions Did
you grow up with transformers? And at what age
do you remember first noticing the franchise?
Ah See, I mean 84 I was a youngin You know But
I do remember vividly the first thing that I
remember about transformers Was the episode countdown
to extinction when it aired and then of course
got the toys So that's when I, how old was I
then? Because I was born in 81. I was three years
old and yet I remember it. It's one of my earliest
memories and I was still living in New York at
the time. Yeah, I was four at the time and what
I remember most is, and I'm not even a big fan
of the characters, they're okay, nothing wrong
with them. I remember all of the Insecticon episodes
because every video store we would go to would
have the Insecticon episode VHS tapes. I also
had the FHE cassettes. Family home entertainment,
yeah. For Transport to Oblivion, Fire on the
Mountain, War of the Dinobots and Countdown to
Extinction. So those four episodes I will literally
watched Tons of times so like so many times it
was it was ridiculous. So Absolutely. Mm -hmm.
What transformers generation is your generation
and why? G1 Because I I mean you could say I
you could say because I grew up with it Because
I but I love foundations You know, I love the
foundations of a franchise like if you were to
ask me You know what Star Wars is my generation
would be original trilogy if you were to ask
me What what Batman is is your Batman? Like I
would I would go so far as to even say that like
I like going back and reading the old like 30
stuff just to you know, see where it all started
where it all began and then of course I maybe
even with Batman I would probably say like there
after the Christ and infinite earths storyline
Because then they they change stuff, but like
I like the foundations of stuff I like seeing
where where where the beginnings of a franchise
are so and then Beast Wars Beast Wars am I? G1
and Beast Wars are like my two, you know So besides
Beast Wars, what other generations do you like?
I like animated. I like prime. Mm -hmm I Think
animated it to me edges out prime In as far as
like which one I like better But Like cuz like
the prop but the problem I have with each of
them is that what they what they both play themselves
either you know prime is almost too serious and
animated is too Goofy goofy. Yeah But both are
good. Like it's not like saying like oh, yeah
Whenever whenever you're sitting there trying
to say like you like something or don't like
something it's just like you're you you you hate
it like no like here is Like here are the things
that I like about it and don't like about it
Like that's that's why that they're numbered
that I would vet put them at number two and three
like number three and four Yeah, and then I guess
you could probably say Hmm like the more modern
stuff. It's like it's tough. Yeah, like Because
the the problem okay animated had three seasons
prime had three seasons three seasons beast kind
of said yeah And well beast wars you could say
the whole beast arrow is was well true technically
I mean because I am one of those people that
I don't separate beast machines and beast wars
It's all this it's not the same tone in beast
machines, but it's the same It's the evolution
of the characters and I will defend this to my
dying breath when we interviewed Ian James Corlett.
Before we interviewed him, I took one audio clip
from each of Cheetor's growth and put it all
together. The dude, he grows up. He's basically
the Hot Rod of Beast Wars, except for the fact
that everybody likes him versus everybody assumes
that Hot Rod pulled the trigger on the gun, which
he didn't. Megatron did. Yeah. You and I are
on the same page with that hot rod did not kill
optimus prime. That's true I mean you think about
if you want it if you want to put it into a you
know a situation is is imagine being a you know,
imagine your You know your wife is you know comes
into a room and you have a burglar in your house,
dead to rights. You have a gun pointed at him,
but you don't see that he's about to reach for
his gun. Your wife sees that he's about to reach
for the gun and then jumps in, but your wife
gets overpowered. Are you gonna sit there and
say that your wife killed you? No. No, of course
not. But people ... Like your wife was trying
to stop that that burglar from killing you, you
know, she failed you know And that's that's using
that as an example. So yeah, and I am very happy
that Karen indulged me When we did was it is
it did they do they did the 35th anniversary
back in theaters thing, right this year? We went
to it. We went to my wife and I went to it too.
Yeah, we went to one of them and we went on the
Tuesday night and when we went Literally my wife
Lie right after the movie He didn't do anything
wrong. He didn't do anything wrong. Like like
she literally said it like six times. Yeah during
that whole incident, so Do you like? Or loathe
the Bayverse, or are you indifferent to it? I
seriously dislike it. Yeah, I seriously dislike
the Bay films. Don't have a hatred for fans that
love it. Like, I understand why someone, like,
this is something new for them, so like, oh,
this is cool, it's Transformers, like, these
are, you know, robots battling each other, but...
My appreciation for the rest of the franchise
and and everything that it stands for is Why
one of the main reasons I dislike the Bayverse?
also the continuity the storytelling the sex
jokes the the robot designs that don't look like
the characters. I mean, every single version
of Starscream outside of the Bayverse looks like
Starscream. You know, every single version of
Megatron, well, I mean, you could say Armada
maybe, but still looks like Megatron. Not in
Bayverse, though. It doesn't look like Megatron.
I prefer my robots to have their insides on the
inside, not the outside. Right. Right. I mean,
the thing is that people really enjoy those robot
designs. And if you think it's cool, fine, cool,
whatever. But I just don't care for it. I just
don't. And also, Michael Bay's own personal disdain
for the franchise. Yeah, obviously me the wrong
way in such a like why would you do five films?
If you hate the franchise that much Why would
you still put and you know? Why would you sit
there and travel to Machu Picchu during? For
the filming of rise of the beasts if you hate
the franchise so much and you sit there and say
that what the fans like is lame Yeah, that's
uh, he said it in an interview. Yeah, I know
I know it's he wants the money that it makes
because I don't care what anyone says about the,
the, the films that have happened to this point.
We don't know what's going to go on with rise
of the beast. Tell rise of the beast is delayed
at this point until 2022, 2023 now. Um, but you
know, I gotta say the sound design in those movies
and just what they did for the franchise. Like
without those movies. That we wouldn't get I
don't think truly you compare transformers to
masters the universe Here's here's my argument
against that. Okay The movie the transformers
as a property Mm -hmm was successful enough to
make a movie at the time period so the fact that
they were making a movie Was going to be successful
no matter what? So, if they had gotten a director
who was a good director and made a movie that
really followed the franchise's origins and foundations
to give us a good adaptation maybe covered more
from the cartoon and the comics combined and
gave you that same story that the original show
and comic books did to give us that foundation
of Transformers instead of giving us what we
got in that first Michael Bay film. I think it
would have just been just as successful. Because
it was the fact that it was a big budget blockbuster
film. It was with a Steven Spielberg name already
attached to it. Already had all these vehicles
and cars and stuff like that. It's one thing
to change the alternate modes. That's the other
thing. It's one thing to change the alternate
modes. It's the robot designs and the robots
being the stars of the show But also the film
wasn't wasn't even originally written to be a
transformers film was originally written to be
a GI Joe film which is why Lennox and and uh
absent and Lennox or whatever are You know not
duke and roadblock um, but The the thing is is
that I think the movie would have been successful
regardless because the franchise was already
hot because of the unicorn trilogy The unicorn
trilogy was really hot. It was coming off the
heels of that You know because energon was really
successful our motto was successful Cybertron
was successful as a toy line You know it got
a whole bunch of people back after after the
you know Say what you will about beast machines,
but beast machines Kind of hurt the franchise
in a lot of ways And because it was, you know,
as far as toy sales is concerned, robots in disguise
comes back and brings cars and trucks back. And
they're like, oh, wow, this is really cool. And
then Armada just created a whole new generation
of Transformers fans. So by the time of 2007,
they're coming in and going, OK, I want to see
more live action film. Yeah, I'm all about it.
And that's why I say that no matter what, that
first movie was going to be successful. the marketing,
whatever, even the robots and stuff like that,
and the fact that they got Peter Collin to do
Optimus Prime, I think the movie would have been
successful, regardless, however they would have
chosen to do it. The thing is that also at the
time, Hollywood was known for always wanting
to hard change, make real adaptations because
it was the 2000s. You know think about think
about all the different live -action adaptations
that they did the time you had x -men You know
spider -man you could make look like spider -man,
but x -men. No, they're really corny in those
outfits. Let's put them in black leather Let's
not go out in yellow spandex blade which To Wesley
Snipes credit. He was amazing in that role. Yeah
Was very different than the comics that he had
originated from Who else all those different
superheroes that had come out they done was was
the first did Batman Begins had already come
out by the time that they started development
of Transformers to your you know, Batman Begins
was some time released sometime in 2005 I don't
know exactly right and they started production
of Transformers in 2005 I think I think I so
I think they started production in 2005 So it
was already that realism feel, you know to to
make everything real And that's what they were
going for with Transformers. So that's what we
got. Yeah, I mean, I said this, you don't know
this, but the audience does. I've said this on
Every Origins recently. Look, what bothers me
about those films is the writing and how they
use characters. Yeah. Yes. Yes. I make the joke
about, oh, I don't want my robots insides on
the outside kind of thing, because that's a comment
on the design of it. All in all, it's not the
worst thing in Transformers history. Oh, yeah.
It really isn't. I mean, there are worse things.
There are worse things in Transformers. Yes.
Yes. Yeah. It gave us Autobots versus Decepticons.
It gave us a big big budget action sequence at
the end. It gave us Optimus fighting Megatron
and having a speech with each other. It gave
us Bumblebee and a boy Witwicky. And the reason
why I say that is because of Spike and Buster
being two different names. You know, it gave
us all that, right? So that stuff was at least
inserted into it enough to give us at least something
coherent. And while I love the actor that plays
Sam's dad, I don't remember what his name is
off the top of my head. You know who I'm talking
about. He was also in Small Soldiers as the father,
and I like that guy as an actor. I just hate.
How Michael Bay and the writers use the human
other than Lennox and and an app sorry is it?
Those two the other written. Yes, they were written
is Duke and roadblock is Duke and roadblock Yeah,
so they were that's what they were original design
was that they were supposed to make a GI Joe
film Yeah, and it that's why you like those characters
is because they're written properly to be Duke
and roadblock not as Duke and Roadblock. The
rest of it was written, it almost seems to be
inserted because, okay, we have to include Transformers.
What's really the heart of Transformers? Oh,
Bumblebee and his car, you know, Bumblebee and
his car, like that was Spielberg's insert. So
Sam and Bumblebee, which is a good insert, you
know, because it gave us the relationship between
them. That's why that first film has got that
that bump that very Spielberg touch to it. Yeah,
it does and I will say that another reason why
I do enjoy parts of that first film is because
It was I believe again without looking up the
information and I know I could just reach for
my phone But I'm not going to I believe that
was one of Bernie Mac's final performances before
he died and he knocked it out of the Oh, yeah,
he was hilarious. Oh, yeah. I absolutely Bernie's
awesome. What was your very first Transformers
toy as a kid? Bumblebee Cliffjumper and Starscream.
Really? Yep. Interesting. This is I always have
to preface this one because it's it's so silly
and stupid. It's just something I used to do.
Did you and your friends ever pretend to play
Transformers at, say, school recess or something?
And by this, I mean, you're not playing with
the actual toys, but you are saying it's basically
live action role play. But we never actually
called it. It was just pretend back then. Like,
I want to pretend to be Hot Rod. You're going
to pretend to be Galvatron. You know, we did.
There was a couple of kids that on the playground
back in the day we did. Sometimes we brought
the Transformers to school. We knew better not
to get them broken because sometimes that would
happen. You know, especially with Megatron. Oh,
yes. Yeah. Because yeah, if you were here's the
thing, you bring Megatron to a playground. Dude,
you were the cool kid on the playground. You
have a toy gun on the playground. That thing
was cool. That actually looks and feels like
a real, I remember having Megatron and I'm like,
yeah, I can't take this to school because damn
that toy. The thing is that when you were on
the playground, yeah, you were allowed to play
with toy guns and stuff. Sure, you had the teachers
who were like, you're not supposed to play with
toy guns. It's like, you can't tell us you can't
play with toy guns. What are you going to do
about it? Well, I'll just Like like you would
get those people who would be like that's but
when you were a kid and the kids would just eat
it up man They oh, yeah, it was just that was
a coolest thing to play with on the playground
was Megatron you know and you know, but yeah,
we would play sometimes because the the biggest
thing we wanted to figure out was if there was
a way to To bring certain characters back from
the dead not just Optimus Prime, especially transfer
Transformers the movie. Yeah, you know is to
bring characters back from the dead and you know
Having ultra Magnus, you know try to find the
crypt where the where the Autobots bodies are
Larry, you know Buried or something like that
and you know rot Rodimus is on a mission to stop
Galvatron from destroying the crypt or something
Like it would it would be like adventures like
that. So Yeah, yeah, absolutely Who is your end
all be all favorite character from any transformers
incarnation? You can pick for one Decepticon
one Autobot one maximal one Predacon All right,
so Autobot is easy G1 Rodimus Prime Decepticon
Oh, it's tough. I really love Galvatron and it's
like like, you know G1 Movie and cartoon Galvatron.
Mm -hmm Unicron my master With this I shall make
you my slave Which is kind of tied with the Marvel
UK Galvatron 2, but I think I would probably
edge out the cartoon because I love that edge
of him being like psycho enough to literally
beat the crap out of his own troops, but so powerful
that you sound predictable. Maximal... It's tied
between Silverbolt and Depth Charge. I love those
two characters. When Dinobot, like it's like,
oh man, then saying Dinobot too. Cause like you
can't like not say Dinobot. Dinobot, Silverbolt,
Depth Charge. How can I pick between those three?
Now you're making it hard. I'm gonna probably
edge out cuz I'm gonna I'm gonna go with silverbolt
on that one And then for Predacon Megatron just
because he's the most intelligent Megatron he
actually really went to set out his goals and
did what he did and to For the past, for what
it was, so definitely Megatron. So let's cut
through the signal noise, shall we? What are
some other Transformers characters you like?
Let's see. Let me look at my shelf behind me.
Skyfire? Love G1 Skyfire? I'm too darn big to
sneak around like this. Skywarp? From the Decepticon,
I mean obviously the Decepticon's definitely
a big Skywarp guy. Watch it you metallic mini
-meatball or I'll step on ya! Probably say he's
my favorite seeker. What a frenzy! Geekworks
made for a geek! Like you! Loved Inferno from
Beast Wars. Yes, my queen. You know, Waspinator.
God, I wish you would stop calling me that. Yeah.
Loved, you know, Thunderwing from the Marvel
comics, like... beating the crap out of Optimus
with the Matrix. Who else? I mean, Bludgeon was
a badass, you know, pretender too, but Grimlock,
Grimlock definitely, love Grimlock. And Slag,
Grimlock and Slag, out of the Dinobots. You know,
then if we were to switch over to some other,
you know, continuities, You know robots in disguise.
I loved scourge in 2001 robots in disguise. I
love that that design that mold Brave Maximus
was just awesome. I loved that the color scheme
on him for some reason was just different from
Fortress Maximus, but it was the same toy. Yeah
and You know, which is kind of funny because
usually I'm not a big city bot guy Um, cause
it's just, it's the base, right? Um, and then,
you know, combiners, I loved the defense or as
far as a combiner, um, you know, I would say,
uh, rail racer was kind of neat, like to have
like a three train bot combiner and robots in
disguise. Yeah, that was the one thing about
robots in disguise that I absolutely loved was,
was the, what was the three trains midnight express.
midnight express rail spike and Merge into rail
racer was midnight spike and I'm just it's drawn
blank on me right now. Yeah, I'm gonna look it
up. Anyway more characters You know transformers
prime I would say Let's see a rapid run wrapped
around the zero one rapid run. That's right And
I'm just trying to think like the like then he
had the Unicron trilogy of characters There were
so many characters in there in the Unicron trilogy
that were so different and a lot of them were
nameslaps So it's like it's hard to pick, you
know with them because it's like okay Well, then
it's like do you like that interpretation of
a character? I mean, I know a lot of people really
love Armada Starscream, but It's kind of hard
to say Cybertron Like that's the thing like some
of the characters I don't feel like stood out
to me as much in the Unicron trilogy that you
would think Whereas in animated I loved the idea
of a Decepticon female seeker out of out of slipstream.
I loved lug nut You know that blitzwing that
they did was really cool You know, it's like
it's weird cuz like all the Decepticons in animated
were given such like crazy personalities that
I really really enjoyed a lot of them and You
know because it's just the way that they worked
You know lug nut Lug nut was I really want a
new lug nut figure and a slipstream figure out
of that Oh demolisher out of Armada. Yes, but
definitely definitely demolish right of Armada
In Transformers Prime Iraq, I mean I liked arachnid
as a villainous I gotta look at your souvenir
case. You mean my trophies. I collect endangered
species. Of course, they aren't really endangered
until they meet me. And bulkhead out of that
series. I like Prime's bulkhead better than animated's
bulkhead. Did you just scream like a little girl?
No. Maybe. You are headed for the equator. I'll
prep for tropical weather. Wrecker style. Hands
down, easily, yeah. But I know some people really
love the animated version. I like the animated
vehicle better than Armada. Or not, Prime. Prime,
yeah. Too many continuities. Yeah, there's 40
years of them, yep. And then if we switch over
to Robots in Disguise, I like the Drift in 2015's
Robots in Disguise. I like that Drift. Yeah,
that was cool. That was different. That was interesting.
Yeah. Because to me, Drift was the character
from the comics, from IDW, and it wasn't like...
So when he showed up in the 2015 RID cartoon,
I'm like, wait, that's not the one from the comics,
but hey, look, it's really cool. He is sort of
a samurai. He is sort of this, sort of that.
So it was really cool that they did it with a
slightly different design. And I love the fact
that we can say that Eric Matthews was both Batman
and Bumblebee. Yes, yes, I met him Eric I met
him in a New York Comic -Con. He was a really
cool dude. Yeah, yeah Are there any good I was
just trying to think about some other characters
specifically as I'm going through the the different
continuities now because now they they added
that the She already showed up. I think in in
in the BotCon comics, but I think what was it
shadow striker? Mm -hmm was the character's name
in cyber verse the new female decepticon car.
That's an experiment I liked her I thought that
was a pretty cool concept for a new new decepticon
car Yeah, you know, I like and everyone loves
knockout Everyone loves knockout like it's just
he's just it's easy to either love him or hate
him but But he had some of the best lines in
in prime, you know, absolutely Are there any
Transformers characters you hate? I don't like
the idea. It's not so much that I hate the character
I hate the idea of that character using that
name Okay, so but I mean a lot of people really
hate g1 wheelie And it's easy to hate that character
I don't hate that character. I just You know,
yeah, just I don't like the character But if
I was to say like I hate the fact that they name
slapped a lot of characters in Armada and throughout
the unicorn trilogy like smoke screen and and
wheeljack and Same thing in Transformers Prime.
Like I think that they should have used Springer
instead of wheeljack In Transformers Prime, you
know because the two characters are completely
different from what I expecting like I'm expecting
a different character that so to me I don't like
the idea behind name -slapping, but so it's not
all how much I hate the character Yeah, but then
it's how they use the name. Okay, here we go
Netflix Optimus Prime Wow Hate that character
hate everything they did with that character
don't like the growth that they did met that
character Felt that they really ruined him so
much, and they could have done better, and I
don't hate the Netflix series like some other
people do, but man, do I not like that Optimus
Prime. And that is because of the character,
and I would say just the polar opposite is Baver's
Optimus Prime. Which is funny, because it's voiced
by Peter Collins, so it should be good, right?
But that isn't the case. Transformers Prime did
it better. Again, I don't blame any of the talent.
I blame the writers. I blame the direction of
wherever they want, whether it's a movie or a
TV show or whatever. I've said this in the other
episodes that I've done recently for the War
for Cybertron trilogy. It's the voice direction
that was the problem. because I can sit here
and talk to you like this and then all of a sudden
I can get emotional and start talking like that's
the problem because when they wanted Optimus
to show emotion, somebody told Jake Foushee to
go deeper or whatever. And I'm not saying the
kid isn't talented at all. He is. I actually,
if I'm really honest about it, when he's just
talking as Optimus Prime, He's probably my second
favorite behind cullen as optimus prime the truck
Because I just say about neil caplan No, never
have never have I liked that one nope Really?
Nope. Just that's not optimist to me at all What
is it about that optimist that you don't he's
I i'd have to go back and watch it again because
If it's what I think that it is then then it
should be the same thing with Jake Foushee Probably
but I I'd have to go back and it's been so long
since I've since I've watched that I'll have
to go back and check it out, but I just I remember
when I heard Neil Kaplan's version and I'm like
That's not any optimist. I know That's not any
optimist sound alike that I know and I get it
not every version has to be a sound alike and
honestly I don't want every - I love John Bailey's
version. You know, it's crazy because I don't
like, um... Well, it looks like it's just you
and me, Prime. The time for speeches is over,
Galvatron. Let's end our quarrel right here and
right now. Don't act surprised. This is exactly
what you wanted. And I fight you not as the leader
of the Autobots, but as the leader of all Transformers.
What? Well, that's just Prime. Gary Chalk's Optimus,
and not because I don't like him as a voice actor,
like as Prime, specifically Prime. Yeah, yeah,
yeah. Because they added this audio filter to
Prime in the Unicron trilogy. that if you listen
to it, it hurts my ears. It has this weird tinge
to it. And so when I hear, it's like it's hearing
Optimus Primal with a weird distorted filter.
It's kind of like how we all know and love Soundwave,
but we all know and love Soundwave knowing that
without that vocoder. it's Dr. Claw, kind of
thing. It's not a bad thing that that's Dr. Claw
underneath Soundwave's vocoder, but with Gary
Chuck as Optimus Prime, from what you're saying,
it's like adding that vocal thing in there ruins
what Gary can do. Yep, yeah. And, you know, I
don't know. Hearing it, I'm just like, ugh. Yeah,
yeah, yeah. It's like grind your teeth. Yeah.
It's not about them. It's about what the producers
want. Never. Never. It's never about - Derek
Falk's an awesome dude. He is. I've met him more
than once. He's an awesome dude. Absolutely.
Over your lifetime, as you got older, did your
interest in the Transformers franchise grow stronger
or get weaker? My journey through Transformers
was Generation 2. Right before Generation 2 came
out, I was really upset that there was no more
Transformers. because going to the toy store,
not finding anything Transformers, I was already
into Nintendo at the time. Generation 2 came
out, got really strong into it for the first
two years. The cartoon had come out, it was all
G1 reruns, which was great because you got to
see the episodes that maybe you might have missed
even in the reruns. And then, for whatever reason,
I didn't collect that last year of Generation
2. and Beast Wars had come out, but I think girls
had my attention. Yeah, exactly. Girls had my
attention. So that was a big strong thing. Then
it's kind of like you have to hide the fact that
you're into this stuff. Back then you had to
really hide because if girls found out that you
were a nerd or you were a geek, you were getting
made fun of because girls would gossip and then
you would get beat up on the playground by the
other guys because In order to impress the girl,
they would beat the crap out of the nerd. That
was just a normal thing, so you had to hide that
fact. Then Beast Wars came out and it took me
until season two to get into it. Then I was hardcore
Beast Wars, hardcore Beast Wars. I never died
ever since then. These words. Yeah beat to me
Beast Wars kept it going The thing that stopped
me from collecting mainline and only collecting
chug was the Bay verse Straight up because I
had I went for completionist out of the unicorn
trilogy then classics came out and then the first
Bay movie came out and I did not like the robot
designs did not like what the toys looked like
and said I'm not buying anything that doesn't
look like the characters that I know and love
anymore. I don't want those characters because
I've had enough. I had my fill. I had Unicron
Trilogy and I have a full set of Unicron Trilogy
toys. So for those of us who are not in the know,
you're the second person that has mentioned Chug.
Explain that please because I don't remember
what the hell it is. Okay, so let's just... I
mean, the basic acronym for Chubb is Classics,
NK, Universe, Generations. And where it came
from was that back in 2005, 2006 -ish, Cybertron
was coming to an end and they needed a line to
fill the shelves until the first Bay movie came
out. Got it. So they made a line of toys that
were basically modernized updates to Generation
1 characters so that the G1 fan who's waiting
for that Bayverse movie to come out can get their
favorite Optimus Prime, but now he's a more modernized,
flat -nosed truck. Bumblebee can't be a Volkswagen
Beetle, so he's a deluxe scale. Mini Cooper,
then he had a tiny astro train a tiny but they
were so stylized but yet in robot mode They were
still kind of that generation one character right
and then then you had The bavers come and Ruby
comes out and animated comes out and those are
all that's all mainline at that time They they
continue in Japan. They they released those toys
with more cartoon accurate colors as Henkei Right
and then universe had come out I think was after
the first Bayverse movie came out and they were
still releasing toys That were you know, right
same line as the classics Yeah, cuz classics
it kind of died off and they wanted to keep going
in the universe 1 .0 and universe 2 .0 and then
ever since then most of it Unless it was a specific
line has been generations ever since they started
generations generations has never Left us yet
because they had now have multiple lines of okay.
It's gonna go in generations or okay It's generations
eventually led into what was the prime wars trilogy
which was right binder wars Titans return and
and Power the primes and then led into the next
trilogy, which is war for Cybertron And now it's
leading into the legacy legacy is replacing all
of those monikers They're no longer calling them.
The trilogy is just calling it legacy And I think
legacy is gonna last until the 40th anniversary
to my understanding at least So they're just
gonna call it transformers legacy and it's gonna
be a continual toy line. Yeah And I wouldn't
be surprised if they did do that. And that's
honestly, that's fine. As long as they keep giving
us stuff like Commander Class Rodimus or like
Leader Class Galvatron, especially. Oh, here's
my here's something else I'll say about about
legacy and about generations. Oh, the war for
Cybertron. They went those first two years with
basically straight generation one. This was the
first time since even classics began back in
2006. That we actually got Generation one characters
that are modernized versions of toys that look
like the generation one characters not even classics
did that back in 2006 not even generations really
did that in 2009 or whatever 2011. Yeah, we never
really got that until now with the War for Cybertron
trilogy. So when everyone says, I'm tired of
G1, I'm tired of needing G1, it's like, but we
never really got G1 until now. Exactly, yeah.
I mean, we've had hints of it. We've had homages.
We've had slight whatever. And I've said for
the longest time, and I've said on every single
ATTF Origins that I've done recently, what I
want right now is a Transformers cartoon. with
whatever voice actors you can get from the original
show. And continue on a season four. Whomever
is still alive. No, not necessarily continue
on, but I want all of those people that are still
alive back, and I want the animation style to
be similar to Revelation. Like that's the animation
style I want on a Transformers cartoon. Alright,
I can kind of see where you would go with that,
yeah. Because you can't directly bring back.
I mean you could directly bring back the original
84 animation, but This is the modern day we need
to Sort of have a model because you know, I know
you've talked about revelation I've talked about
revelation with with Steve Megatron and an optimus
solo and Part two is coming. So there's that
Which Wow? Season 2 is going to be interesting.
I just hope they don't break it anyway. That's
a whole other discussion for another day. Was
there ever a moment in your life when you were
just completely done with Transformers, you walked
away? It was in between Generation 2 and Beast
Wars Season 2. That was, again, girls. And then
I would venture to say Season 2 of Beast Machines.
Because I did not like the designs. I didn't
like the toys. They looked weird. It looked funky
I I just I don't know what it was about that
second seed and beast machines and it's not that
much like again like I don't really But it was
it was also something weird about it that like
just like I want the cars and trucks back and
just I I'm ready to walk away from Transformers
as a whole and I almost did the same thing until
classics showed up when Cybertron ended like
midway through Cybertron I I think I got Galvatron
out of Cybertron and then I was done. I said,
I was like, you know what, I'm really not really
in the mood to collect Transformers. Oh, look
at this. Classics came out, but then Classics
came out and I think somewhere around 2009, I
had gotten engaged. My wife never was telling
me to walk away from Transformers. But I was
ready to stop collecting as a whole basically
stop collecting but I wasn't done with transformers.
I was just kind of like Like I don't need to
collect all these different transformers toys
and I think it was sometime in the round Midway
through titans return and going into power the
primes that I got back into collecting and then
because they were bringing us more stylized,
more generation one -esque robots in the middle
of Titans Return, like out of those mini -bots
that they were doing. Right, right. And then
I just like, I really went heavy into it. And
then War for Cybertron came out and I really,
really leaned heavy into the collecting again.
Yep. So I had my waves, right? Yeah, yeah. But
I wasn't ever walking away. I think that the
time that I fully, fully walked away, Like totally
was that interim between generation 2 and and
that second season of Beast Wars? And that was
just because real -life stuff was you know, yeah,
I mean, you know, you're a teenager you're going
through school you're going through puberty you're
going through all this stuff and Sometimes also
in other franchises at the time too. Yeah, exactly.
There's yeah there's other things that came along
like X -Men and spider -man and Iron Man and
Batman and And all of that kind of stuff. Yeah,
so there was enough there was enough to keep
keep you occupied if you weren't a hardcore Transformers
guy You're already in you know, you're already
in other stuff. So, you know, then you have to
hide the fact you're a nerd In order in order
to it to impress the ladies at the time, which
I'm glad I'm glad none of those ladies ended
up being my permanence With the internet giving
birth to the fans all having a voice about what
they like or don't like about Transformers Do
you find that your voice gets lost in the shuffle
or do you just shout louder? I Think there's
a point where you can be respectful mm -hmm and
and still voice your opinion I Don't think that
name -calling is necessary Mm -hmm when we're
ridiculing a particular series. We're not like
what I could I'm as a hardcore g1 fan If I'm
ridiculing the Bay Bay verse, I am NOT ridiculing
the Bay Formos fan the thing is is that you see
a lot of those g1 fans who they only like 84
through 85 and everything after that is bad like
I don't understand that logic and then you have
the I'm never gonna get into beast wars kind
of kind of fandom and then you have the the I'm
I only like Michael Bay's Transformers or and
then it's uh Well, not everything has to be g1.
You could we need to make everything else besides
g1 for transformers. We need to stop making g1
stuff and it's like No, so there's a lot of there's
a lot of tension between the fans and it seems
to all the the two biggest Fights between transformers
right now at least as far as I can see Mm -hmm
is the g1 Hardcore and the Bayformers hardcore.
Mm -hmm. There just seems to be a more a heart
a hard press against them But I'm starting to
notice that that that there's an overlap between
the base Bay film fans Because they had the last
night which really ruined it for them and the
prime fans those seems to be the a wave of them
that really hates the old. They hate everything
old. They don't like Unicron Trilogy, they don't
like Beast Wars, they don't like G1, they only
like 2007 until present. There seems to be a
very hard divide there. fans need to learn to
come together and enjoy Transformers. I was at
TFCon and there was fans from all over the place.
We were sharing our love of Transformers. There
were 18 -year -old kids there in college. This
is my first TFCon. This is awesome. I'm a big
fan of your channel and watching it, this one
guy, he was just so cool to me. College basketball
player, so he's like six foot. Like seven. Mm
-hmm. Like he's yeah Yeah, actually, I think
he was a little tall. He was tall dude He was
a tall dude and he you know, one of the coolest
guys there Hardcore Bayformers fan Loves g1 and
loves loves watching my channel so we can get
along Yeah, um, the thing is is that there is
there is a divide there is a hard divide and
recognizing our differences and being able to
enjoy together is a good thing. Absolutely. I've
said this for at least the last decade now. And
so I've been saying this before, certain real
life things started happening. All generations
matter. And transformers, yeah. Whether you like
G1, whether you like G2, whether you like Henke,
whether you like whatever you want to like, As
long as you're with people who either like the
same things, or can at least respect that you
like what you like. Even Kiss players? Well,
as of this recording, I did just watch Chris
McFeely's Transformers The Basics on Kiss players.
So there's a hat tip for good old Chris McFeely.
I've only ever heard the name. I had never actually
looked into it. And I'm like, oh, OK, sure. Where's
the story in Power Glide and Kiss Players? That's
what I want to know. They never went there. They
never went there. They never went there. But
I mean, that episode, oh, boy. I didn't want
to know more about Kiss players. I like watching
Chris's stuff. I'm hoping we can get him on here
at one point or another down the line. I've been
wanting to get him on here for a couple of years
now ever since he started The Basics. He just
has a way of presenting the stuff where everybody
can learn about it. Same thing with what you
do, with what you do with your retrospectives.
It's a simple you give your opinion you give
the information and it's entertaining that's
why i do i work i work a lot hard very very hard
to get those retrospectives out and it's for
the same reason that why is he's doing the basics
to so yeah. And it's the same thing because i
mean i'm right now i'm working on a particular
character the problem is is that when the character
span so many generations you have to figure out
how do i. How do you condense it into? Dense
this into a digestible work and that's why some
of my videos got so long is because they some
of these characters you just they're in so much
you really can't not cover their stuff. Yeah,
and then that's the thing you have almost we're
almost at 40 years you have 40 years of history
of this brand and for what you do and for what
Mr. McFeely does You know, I mean it takes time.
It takes time to make those videos. It takes
time. It takes effort It takes you know, like,
you know, you talked about how to condense it
all you have to you know figure out I'm only
gonna spend this much time on the comic version
of the character I'm only gonna do this and then
you have the characters that see these these
episodes seem a lot harder to me the ones that
don't have Lot of things like I don't want to
say Huffer But I'll use him as an example like
Hufferhead is G1 toy but then he may not have
had something until like 2015 or something like
you know, I mean you get a single character like
that that doesn't have the major Optimus Prime
Bumblebee Starscream Megatron, you know what
I mean? Yeah, you know you get a character where
you're like, how can I make this a video? That's
or whatever it is Into you know something that
is going to engage an audience and that's the
other problem Is is that like you you have you
know, if you when you have a character like that,
that's not that that isn't in much You know,
then it's a matter of the character You almost
have to literally tell tell the audience the
character was forgotten about for many years
until X happened until he finally showed up here
You know or they was kind of little sprinkles
of this and then there was this you know or if
there's character that I'm currently working
on a script for right now is You know, I'm sitting
here writing it and you know, the character has
quite a bit of a history But the character also
if I if I go too deep into certain lore It's
gonna take forever and then there's other parts
that it's not in much like so like there's a
lot of skippable stuff Then it's a matter of
okay. Well if I cover this character Do I need
to cover does this about this character and or
or or do I need to? talk about a toy that was
hum and Homage to that character, you know, I
mean like in other words if they did in the Unicron
trilogy that the character had a color scheme
match, you know like To that character and it's
like, you know saying like you have to cover
all of those things and I almost feel that if
you Don't you're not servicing the character,
right? And plus then you have Hasbro coming in
with we have to save trademark and you have multiple
characters with the same name. Oh, that's what
I'm saying. Yeah, that's that's why I'm not a
fan of name slaps. That's why like a character
like Wheeljack where I feel like, you know, the
the ninja the ninja that. turn Decepticon, turn
back Autobot in Armada, and then you end up actually
giving us a Wheeljack in Energon, and it's not
really Wheeljack, it's Downshift, because you
had used the name before on another character,
whereas you could have given us that to be Wheeljack,
and you could say, hey, he changed his look for
the next series, but they didn't. And then they
still give a Wheeljack head to a different green
car in Cybertron, which didn't even show up in
the cartoon. And then in Transformers Prime,
you have Springer dressing up as Wheeljack. I
like Prime Wheeljack. But do you hear what I'm
saying, though, about Springer? In other words,
am I saying, do I hate the character? No. Like,
he's a great character. He's just not Wheeljack.
You know what I'm saying? Like he's not building
stuff. He's not inventing stuff. He's not a crazy
engineer No, he's a loner character. Yeah, he's
a loner. He's a lone wrecker You know searching
the galaxy for for for other adventures. Mm -hmm
What is your personal Transformers anthem song?
You don't have to pick these but examples obviously
are the touch dare, etc Well season 3 opener
I think is just very, very catchy. That along
with the lion theme too for the movie. Why i
love love love love love hunger. Love that song
like just that song is just awesome. I love the
positivity out of dare and the touch I also and
a score one for for the live -action films the
arrival to earth Yep theme that they also used
for the Autobots, which is also a they it seems
that they use the elements of that tune for the
Transformers Prime opener Instead of giving us
a Transformers theme song with the lyrics, they
decided to give us that for the Transformers
Prime intro. Well, and again, Transformers Prime
was in that generation of... It's an overlap
of the movie. It is an overlap of the movie.
It is, but I also feel that, look... There's
another saving grace to the movie verse that
I will never ever, ever say anything negative
about. It's Steve Jablonski and his scores. Oh,
his scores. Yeah, his scores are great. Amazing.
Now you carry that over into prime and you bring
in Mr. Brian Tyler, Mr. Fast and the Furious
himself. And I'm like, OK, what can you do? Show
me what you can do. And oh, man. Yeah, some of
the music that's it like I am still waiting for
them to release season two and season three scores
For that they never have there's only season
one out there and I love listening to the season
one music because it's so good So good. Yeah
I think those those in particular. I know a lot
of people I'm not a big like I'm I don't I don't
I don't get hardcore into it But I know a lot
of people really love the Transformers Cybertron
intro Just because that whole our worlds are
in danger thing. It's almost a meme at this point
But I like animated is a little bit better But
animated doesn't I don't feel like animated had
a score that I can remember the the score of
that the the episodes It does it does it does
Sebastian Evans the second was the composer on
that and the one track that I remember is the
end track Called heroes welcome. It is the final
piece of music as they return to Cybertron Oh
when you hear that like then and then you hear
you hear some of it there, but it's it's it's
it's an overlay of Jim one. Yeah in that right
like it's That was one of the good things about
animated. But what I'm saying is that I don't
remember vividly humming any of the tunes. You
can hum G1's instrumental tunes. Oh, yeah, easily.
Oh, man, like any one of them. When you hear
that, like, yeah, like, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun,
dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun,
dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun,
dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun,
dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun,
dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun,
dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun,
dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun,
dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun,
dun, dun, dun Like that gets stuck in my head
all the time or when you hear even the the season
three music like And you hear that like that
hard like weird like techno beats that they use
and It's like all of season one. I mean all of
g1s music and then the Beast Wars tune That gets
stuck in your head really easy that guitar riff
Beast Wars and Beast Machines need to have soundtrack
score releases, they never have to my knowledge,
but that is the one thing that I want before
I eventually leave this plane of existence at
some point. That's one thing about Transformers,
there's so many good different versions of the
music and then you get in all the Japanese stuff
and all of that and everything else. How often
do you go back and re -watch any of the Transformers
cartoons? And the reason why is because I have
to refresh the memory anyway. I'm going to be
40 years old by the end of this month or the
beginning of next month. So I need to refresh
that memory as things happen. Sometimes you're
writing something and you don't remember it.
So I'm watching this stuff all the time, constantly
going back and watching it, whether it be the
live action films or whether I'm watching the
Prime or animated. I thoroughly enjoy watching
G1 and Beast Wars when I'm going back and watching
it. And I get an enjoyment out of animated and
Prime too, but I end up watching quite a bit
all the time. And same thing with reading the
Marvel comics. I'm sitting there constantly Going
through the the comics and you know trying to
find you know a certain element of a certain
story about a certain character to try to figure
out what what juice I can get out of that and
You know to get the flavor of it So it's in one
way you can say it's work. But in a lot another
way you can say it's it's Me staying connected
to the franchise. So yeah, absolutely. So constantly
would be the answer. Yeah We all love Transformers
comics, which incarnation do you love and why?
As far as comics is concerned. Mm -hmm Marvel
Dreamwave Enough said Alrighty then. Thank you.
Mr. Stanley ghost of mr. Stanley. How big is
your transformers toy collection? Oh Where do
we go? Let's see, I would venture to say everything
that appeared in the G1 cartoon minus 87 stuff,
I have out of actual G1 toys, whether it be a
reissue or an actual G1 figure. Most of Beast
Wars would appear in the cartoon, all of Robots
in Disguise. I went for completionists starting
in 2001 through Robots in Disguise through the
Unicron trilogy. Literal completionists, so even
the minicons and everything. I think I have a
few animated figures. I think I have Soundwave.
No, do I have? No, I only have Soundwave. That's
the only one I have. Because I needed a sound
wave because they weren't releasing sound wave
in classic. So I needed a sound wave Not have
Rodimus and and crystal Rodimus didn't come out.
I mean it didn't well number one didn't show
up in stores in my area like I I often complain
about my the distribution my neighbor in my in
my where I live But yeah, I never ever saw that
toy in the shelf same thing with RC And because
I would have bought that RC figure it had to
come out at the time Um, only movie figures that
we ever bought were Ones that my wife wanted
to buy because it was the female characters.
So we bought the movie one rc. It's still on
card Movie elita one or it was the first movie
elita one, which was just basically the cybertron
or the the energon toy And then basically we
were I was buying a lot of the the classics universe
henkei um stuff and then once man like once Titans
return hit it was like trying to buy as much
as I possibly could so like my collection is
huge I have I would venture to say about ten
bins large gallon, you know large multi -gallon
Containers those big Tupperware order every Tupperware.
Um What do they when you see them in the stores
the Sterilite containers? He like at least ten
of them filled with Transformers figures Um,
so it's hard to gauge how many I actually have
at this point. It's like, it's a lot, it's a
lot. And there's, there are ones that I want
to, I would like to unload. I should have done
a selling party at TFCon. Would have been able
to unload some of the stuff. That's awesome.
That's fine. How do you feel about non -transforming
transformers such as Funcos? Do you want to buy
them? Go ahead and buy them, but not my thing.
All right, what is the one so basically everybody's
safe the wife the kids the pets everybody's safe
But the house is on fire. What's the one Transformers
toy you could never part with ever? What's the
one thing you'd run into save? Right now and
you know this answer. Mm -hmm Kingdom Rodimus.
Absolutely. There's no question That one or brave
Maximus but that would be hard because I have
to grab the whole bin that's got everything else
in it Which includes the Metroplex and the Tripticon
and everything else in that particular bin. That
Brave Maximus is huge. Heavy. That's what she
said. What was the most money you spent on a
Transformers toy or a toy item? On one particular
Transformer, I think Brave Maximus is the most
expensive Transformer I purchased. Actually,
no, because he was $180. or 200. I think so.
I was thinking it was like 200 back in 2003 money.
Brave Maximus was expensive. It was a very expensive
figure. Getting the Japanese Megatron was expensive
too. Those two were very expensive G1 specifically,
you know Japanese G1 Megatron which includes
the it's the full Sword the stock the gun. It's
just like it's just a G1 Megatron with the you
know Yeah, so Those two were the most expensive
Transformers. I think I spent money on you know,
which is this thing is cuz like it's like it's
in those dollars versus now dollars so like yeah,
like $200 then was Expensive yeah was yeah Do
you have a, my parents got rid of my toys story?
My He -Man, Ninja Turtles, and I still have my
X -Men, Spider -Man stuff. But my, yeah, and
my He -Man, my Ninja Turtles, and I'm trying
to remember the other toy lines that... Got lost
in the moves so to speak Yeah, some of the other
toilet the pretty much pretty much transformers
was the one Transformers and x -men spider -man
were like the three main toy lines that survived
the moves You know up until like where my parents
live now and where I live now right If you could
voice any transformers character, who would it
be and why? Thing is is that like as much as
I love Rodimus Prime, I don't think I can do
that character justice I Mean I could do a pretty
decent Megatron or cup Just based on my own voice
I Would like the thing is is that if I was to
voice a Transformers character I would need to
find that characters voice so that I'm performing
it properly. So I That's one of those things
where it's like, I would love to play this character,
but can you really play that character? And you
have to know your own voice. And knowing where
I can go like, well, why don't you sit there
and go over here or something, get the pizza,
or maybe do like an Italian mob boss kind of
guy. It's a me, Mario S. Cup. No, no, no, no.
That's a different. You know, that's a different
Italian, you know kind of thing Let me tell you
something. Okay, you you gotta get over here.
You're gonna try and try and try and rip me off
You're gonna sit here and knock down g1. Let
me tell you something little, you know, i'm i'm
not yeah Like that's the thing like you gotta
try to figure out that character's voice and
then get into it and then You know That's um,
it's hard That's a hard answer. You're giving
it to me, but can I really do that character
justice? I would have to know my own range. Who
is your favorite Transformers actor, voice actor,
actor? It's all the same thing. That's hard.
That is real hard because Peter Cullen has always
been a stand -up guy. Um, you know from meeting
him I would say dan gilvazan was a cool dude
to meet He was just a very chill very very cool
meet David. Hey was nice trying to think of I
mean cuz that's the thing I'm gonna end up going
by who I met Like that's really where it all
kind of boils down to hell rail was a was a chill
dude Greg Burke Greg burger was cool, you know
likes to talk Gary chalk likes Like to talk venus
turzo was really really sweet Man, there's so
many like alan alpenheimer was just so chill
Yeah, he was. Yeah, definitely a chill guy to
meet in person. Um, I would I still need to meet
frank welker like that is on my Like if I need
to meet him sometime While he's still alive Yeah,
absolutely. Yeah. Um Yeah What is your, now this
cannot be anything that they've announced recently.
It cannot be anything that's coming out already.
What is your dream masterpiece figure? Dream
masterpiece figure at this point right now, I
would love for them to do a master. I mean, they've
done Kingdom Rodimus, so it's kind of like a
mini masterpiece, but they could do a Rodimus
Prime, but I would like them to do a masterpiece
Galvatron. Would be one has he never had one.
No, he's never had one. Mm -hmm And then do I
mean the other the other character I can think
of I mean they've they've done Star Saber But
I mean now they're doing the war for Cybertron
one Deathsaurus Mm -hmm. Yeah, that's all right.
So we're you know, we're doing the train bots
Yeah, yeah, and that would be that'd be cool
Very cool. Very cool Where do you land on the
rumble is blue, frenzy is red, or rumble is red
and frenzy is blue debate? Fear rib for life.
Fear rib for life. The toys did what they did
fine, but fear rib for life. I always say purple
and black just to make it easy, but anyway, I
go with cartoon logic. If you could create any
Transformers fiction, whether that be toy cartoon,
comic, etc. What would it be and what story would
you want to tell with it? Basically, they give
you the keys to the kingdom. Now you're talking.
Mm -hmm. I talking. All right. I have wanted
since 1987 for them to continue on with the original
G1 cartoon where it left off with the rebirth.
Mm -hmm. But here's the thing, it's 2021, we're
going into 2022, why don't we try to tell a long
adventure story that kind of has a lot of flashbacks
and modern, like spend a season where you're
telling stories of Transformers events that are
happening in present day. and have a select group
of characters, whether it be headmasters, or
target masters, or pretenders, or whomever, that
are existing right now in 2020, you know, two,
three, whatever, and they're having flashbacks
of stuff that happened maybe in 2010, or maybe
back in 2001, or maybe during the 90s, and what
that would do is that would allow some characters
who you haven't seen who died in the G1 cartoon,
iron hide and stuff like that to show up but
then on top of that it's all leading to a major
event that's that would happen that would conclude
reach reaching to a conclusion kind of like an
anthology and while this is happening you're
introducing characters from the toy line that
are coming out at the time so you can have wind
blade you can have victorian you can have um
you know, new characters that do a G1 -esque
lug nut, do a G1 -esque bulkhead, have those
characters integrated into the story, but have
it all lead up to a Nexus event where you now
open the door and do a crisis on infinite Cybertrons.
So that the door opens, so now you can open the
door for all those, you know, universes happen,
but it happens for a reason, and obviously that
reason is Unicron. and Unicron is trying to absorb
all universes at once using this Nexus event,
which could erase one timeline or erase another
timeline, but still those series still happen,
but they end up, you know, from this point. Some
of those characters can now be crossed over into
the G1 Sunbow cartoon, but it becomes the single
continuity moving forward. So you can now have
Transformers stories that lead all the way up
until whenever you want to. Let's say up until
like whenever the end of the G1 war ends that
leads into Beast Wars. So you can bring in MicroMasters
and you can bring in all these other characters,
but then you can start doing brand new takes
on characters and stuff like that. So you can
have, it doesn't have to be a G1 style transformer.
It could be a stylized transformer, but it is
the current day transformer character, but all
those adventures happened before. See, that's
the thing why having all of those events happen.
all within the G1 cartoon is because the thing
with Transformers is that it's constantly rebooted
for so many years for the past 20 years that
we really haven't had a continuous story. And
that's where it's like why it's that desire to
go back. You know, I know some people want to
go back and do like an animated season 4 But
I would like to see a g1 season 4 5 & 6 that
eventually leads to that Nexus event Maybe even
do a generation 2 story like with g2 Megatron
Galvatron gets rebuilt into generation 2 Megatron,
you know, how cool would that be? Yeah, that
would be very cool. I and I think the reason
why we don't ever have one long continuous story
has nothing to do with the fiction. It has to
do with, again... Toys, yeah. Because the toys
have to... Because it's a toy company. Right.
Like, it's a toy and games company. Yes, they
are also a media company now. However, like,
the reason why we got RID 2001 is because they
wanted to try to bring in new people. The reason
why we got... The reason why we got RID 2001...
is because it was a filler until Armada came
out. Armada was in development during the beginning
of Beast Machines. You know, and they said, okay,
well, what could we do in the meantime? Well,
why don't we just import this one toy line, you
know, the current, you know, car robots thing
during 2000. And during 2000, what was out? Beast
Machines. So 2001 is when Robots in Disguise
came over. You know, anime intact just basically
Modified by Saban and turned into robots in disguise
and it was just a filler show Yeah, but at that
time everyone was like, how come we don't get
a continuation after beat people wanted a continuation
of Beast Machines Which was supposed to be a
stacker. Yeah. Oh god. I sold oh Wait, okay.
So this is all Fucking Derek J. Wyatt's fault.
It's all his damn fault He showed off trans tech
animated Cheetor designs and I already liked
the animated blur thing. So putting blur, Blur's
Mold into Cheetor and making it TransTech colors,
I would love for them to do TransTech. That would
be so awesome. Would be so awesome. But if they
do it, they do it. If they don't, they don't.
Yeah. But at that point, they just basically
hit the hard reset button. And they've been hitting
the hard reset button every three to five years.
Yeah. And every time they hit the hard reset
button, I think it has created a community that
is the divide. Yeah, because the thing is, is
I want to see what happens after the Autobots
return to Cybertron victorious, inanimated, or
I want to see what happens at the end of Prime.
I want to see, you know what I mean? 2015 robots
in disguise was the end of prime, but I mean
technically it was but I mean It What I don't
dislike the 2015 RID I just Like I liked that
prime animation and I know that was expensive
as hell animation. Don't get me wrong, but I
Don't know it is what it is Alright last question.
What is one piece of advice that you'd give the
transformers fandom and transformers collectors
in general? Be kind Be kind I'm at that point
now where I'm just like I'm seeing the You know
some of the like if you go on Facebook the Facebook
groups are the worst I refuse There's so much
negativity out of a lot of those groups and then
some of the message boards that are still around
and just people are still like, everybody has
to be divided. And yet when you go to a convention
and everybody's there and everybody's hanging
out and everyone's showing off their Transformers,
there's no hatred involved. And yet when they
go online, there's so much animosity between
each other. And it's because we're all sitting
behind screens Anonymity and blah blah blah blah
blah Well, it's it's it's it's not just transformers.
It's real -life stuff, too True. It's because
it's because of people being locked down people
have gotten nastier They they've forgotten how
to treat fellow people Without getting heavy
into it some people have lost their sense of
morality and there is that that just the the
barriers of how people caring for one another
has broken down. And that just is where I think
it's all stemming from is there is a root in
that. But as far as keeping back into Transformers,
be kind with one another and just enjoy Transformers
with people and don't be putting each other down.
Absolutely. All right. Where can the people find
