Hey Mr. Wilson! Hello and welcome to the 17th

episode of the TFG1 podcast, recorded June 5th,

2009. I am your host, Michael Blanchard, and

joining me once again is... Michael Wilson. Hello,

and yes, we're going to be getting into some

general chat. Yes, hello and welcome to the TFG

one podcast. I almost said tune cast. Oh my god

I have too many podcasts going on coming up We

are back from our two -week hiatus Steve is not

back yet from his honeymoon I don't think but

we are recording episode 17 and with me is Michael

Wilson. Hello, Michael Yes, Michael is feeling

under the weather a little bit tonight So if

he if he sounds nasally or if he hacks up a lung

or you know His nose comes through the podcast

recording just ignore it and mop it up He's not

feeling too. Well. We he is a trooper We're gonna

go ahead and get episode 17 out of the way. We

actually have a lot to talk about In general

chat here. There's been a lot going on with me

over the last two weeks while we've been on hiatus

Steve and I have officially launched geekcastradio

.com it's currently at bare bones type of stuff

but there is some content on there eventually

once we get majority of everything transferred

over all of the podcast content will be there

the new network as most everybody knows is geekcast

radio network we currently have I believe six

or seven shows we're going to be doing Yes, I

know we're nuts. Yes. Yes. I know we're nuts

I just recorded tooncast episode 0 and episode

1 last night I've actually been on several other

podcasts in the last two weeks. I guest hosted

on episodes seven and eight of Transformers Animated's

Smartcast with GeneralTechno, Scaly, and a few

other people from TFW. Not the main TFW podcasting

people, but some of the other TFW board members.

Let's see what else is going on. I finally got

my 2G iPhone sold. oh god it took me six times

and probably about sixty dollars worth of ebay

fees to get the damn thing sold but i finally

have upgraded to the three g and i love it yes

uh... let's see what else uh... episode sixteen

of the tfgone podcast uh... a lot of people are

alike including uh... Some idiot in Indiana said,

why can't you break it up into two episodes?

Four hours is too long. It is the... Long ass

episode. It is the... But it's the 1986 movie,

come on! I'm seriously thinking about re -editing

the whole thing. I don't think so. Into a conversation

format. I don't think so. And two separate episodes.

I do not think so. in trimming the majority of

what you have to say the second or third time

around. How many times do I have to listen to

you say, oh, this was my favorite part of the

episode. I'm like, oh, come on, I've only heard

this eight times. Yeah, so that all needs to

go. But you can't do that, because you have no

rights to it, and I can file copyright infringement

on your ass. He will have a you'll have a two

hundred fifty thousand dollar fine from the FBI

This all isn't open source But um the way I look

at it is okay. I've got 24 episodes of the podcast

Not including the six supplementals that I did

It's the only one that's gonna be that long I

mean most of the other ones are anywhere from

30 to an hour and you know 30 minutes to an hour

and 30 minutes So, you know What's one 3 hour

50 minute 3 hour 58 minute episode out of 24

that you know I mean it's not like it's gonna

come along Every single episode is gonna be four

hours It's justifiable in this case And the other

thing, and I've said this before on All Things

Transformers, the other podcast that I do with

Steve at this current present time, you know,

if I was able to schedule it better, to have

everybody that I had all in one clip, I would

have. But that Mike Dodd clip, that was recorded

in like February. uh... that's where the magic

of the editing comes in. Yeah, I know. Well,

I don't edit that much. I leave all that to Steve.

I just cut out some stuff and I can re - I really

can't rearrange anything, so I just kinda like

trim stuff down and stuff, but yeah, I don't

do any editing. I do all the recording. The recording's

my job. The editing is for the segment monkeys.

It seems like what did he just call me? Well,

he knows I've said it before The other thing

that we need to bring up that is g1 related is

the fact that shout factory Has been tapped by

Hasbro and most people know this has been tapped

by Hasbro for transformers g1 DVD releases they

are actually releasing the 25th anniversary season

1 on the 16th I believe yes Tuesday the 16th

a week before the Revenge of the Fallen opens

the more than meets the eye bare bones 3 episodes

DVD is coming out September 1st season 2 volume

1 is coming out September 15th I believe and

they just updated the Matrix of Leadership collector

set with a lot of pictures and they look so friggin

cool I cannot wait to get this set will be $140

which I can justify it because it's it's first

of all it's it's generation one for Christ's

sake I mean if you're not a G1 fan that's fine

you know maybe you want to wait and pick it up

somewhere else but I'm definitely not gonna be

waiting for this because I don't want it to end

up like the Rhino sets ended up being out of

print and then having to spend three to nine

hundred dollars on them on eBay that's crazy

Yes, so I cannot wait till this comes out. It

is currently available for pre -order. I believe

it's, I think it's off the top of my head, it's

transformerscollectorset .com, I believe is what

it is. Let me actually go there really quick.

So what's been going on with you, Michael? We

haven't heard from you since episode 14, I believe.

Was it 14? Yes. Well, you were in 16, but you...

I'll tell you what's happening, and this is something

that's really weighing heavily on my soul right

now, is that I'm missing BotCon. Yes, I know.

Oh, it's killing me, and I'm waiting anxiously

for all the news to come out. In fact, I was

wondering if the Shout Factory news was actually

something that was dropped at BotCon. I mean,

I just hadn't heard about it yet. I believe it

was. I know Shout Factory. I don't... I don't

know what day they're doing the film festival,

but I know that Shout Factory, um, is doing,

um, is hosting the film festival this year at

BotCan. BotKeyon? Okay, what the hell was that?

Uh, Keown? Keown? You're channeling Bruce Lee.

Yeah, huh? Yeah! Bitches! Um, I know... I know

for a fact that Transformers Animated has been

cancelled. Unfortunately it has. And that's because

of the fact that Cartoon Network is now probably

not going to be a Cartoon Network anymore, since

they're going to be showing all live action shit

coming up this summer and fall of next year.

Thank god, thank god the boomerang, oh my god.

If I didn't have boomerang I'd go nuts. Okay,

going back to the G1 set really quick all 98

episodes restored 37 hours of generation 1 entertainment

also includes Autobot and Decepticon magnets

Packed with bonus features including a brand

new interview an exclusive feature its concept

art archival has brought toy commercials printable

scripts and collectible 60 page booklet um...

where is... well I'm on the website here where

is the one... where's the thing that says...

oh wait it was in the TV shows on DVD thing I

think I hope um... they're... they listed all

the voice actors that are gonna be in the voice

actor panel the eight voice actors which includes

Frank Welker um... they listed it and now I have

to find it so I'm waiting for the website to

load They can't get the guy to come in, but he'll

show up for the DVD. Okay, here we go, here we

go, here we go, here we go, let's see. Okay,

here we go. Exclusive voice cast reunion featuring

in alphabetical order. Jack Angel, Ramjet, who

also played Astro Train and Omega Supreme. Michael

Bell, Prowl, Greg Berger, Grimlock, Arthur Burg,

Burghart, Devastator. He might have done Jetfire

2, it's only listening a few of them. Corey Burton,

Spike, Witwicky, which he also did Shockwave.

Richard Goddard, who did Rodimus, Neil Ross as

Slag, and Frank Welker. So no Peter Cullen, which

kind of makes me upset. You would think that

they would include the guy that did The Voice

of Optimus, that pretty much, you know... Include,

you know pretty much defined who optimist prime

is. I mean you think that they would include

him in that I should say Peter Cullen has been

Stretched rather thin lately. I mean he's doing

a lot of stuff. He's a busy guy And on the other

hand, I'm sure you know, Frank Welker is a busy

guy as well But at the same time You know, I've

seen Peter Cullen a few times I've never seen

and I understand that but I mean the Rhino sets,

okay, the They were the last US real release

that we've had We've never had a complete series

in the US of G1 and the entire G1's Rhino sets

had nothing with Peter Cullen or hardly anybody

else as far as voice actors. They had Neil Kaplan

from RID. Who the fuck gives a shit about Neil

Kaplan? Give me a fucking break. Optimus Light

he is not, bastard. So anyway. You know, I say

one thing about Stan Bush and everyone's like,

oh my God, look what he said about Stan, and

you're like, fuck Neil Kaplan, I'm Neil Kaplan

can suck on my wiener. It's like, whoa, dude,

dude, my God, this is Neil Kaplan, man. I don't

care. He's not, he's an Optimus Prime ripoff

is what he is. Oh, no, no, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Yes, moving right along. this set looks so so

awesome i cannot wait uh... if you go to the

transformers collector set dot com uh... it shows

like a little uh... looking for it's like a little

banner where it's got uh... all the things i

just read it's got a pre -order button but in

in the front of it shows how the how the set

opens it is so cool Yeah, it looks super nice.

I mean if you're a if you're a generation one

fan Excuse me, and you grew up on this cartoon.

You're going to want to get this set regardless

of the hundred and forty dollar price And moving

on to some general someone general chat Stan

Bush and the touch the the new uh... i gotta

say after i watched it the first time i almost

wanted to go over my computer and that isn't

it has nothing to do with stan was it this was

it the uh... the smiling guitarist who's like

uh... no it it had nothing to do with staying

uh... most people know and i believe i've said

this before i am not a person that grew up on

rap music I'm just not. It's just not my forte.

I don't like it. I respect rap for what it did

for the music industry. And I mean, I'll admit,

I do like some rock rap groups, kind of like

Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park, not all that much,

but I do like some of that stuff, but just straight

up gangster rap, I do not like. I cannot fucking

stand it. no i know but that's he was shooting

for lincoln park because lincoln park yeah first

no and i know that's what he was shooting for

he actually told me that's what it was almost

it was going to be kind of like lincoln park

ish if it did not have the rap chorus in it and

just had him even though the voice was a little

strained if it just had him doing doing the slow

southern style rock i could actually stomach

it better What was I gonna say? Imitation is

the most sincerest In the sense that he's I don't

know flattering the soundtrack that came before

him but I think that I Don't want to say well

it really didn't need changing because it's you

know the fact of the matter is it it's a 25 year

old song and it probably Could have used a little

update, but not in this way somebody on Twitter

And I apologize, I don't remember who exactly

had said this, but it said, uh, you know, this

is not your father's Transformers. And I had

replied and said, no, this is the Transformers

that grabs his crotch for the high notes. Yes,

that's kind of like your private message you

sent me about Michael Bay. to share that. Anyway,

I know you love bringing that up. I don't know

what it is. It's so freaking funny. Every time

I go through my direct messages and I end up

looking at that, I'm like, oh my god, I cannot

believe he said that. And it's not even about

the Michael Bay part. It's about the Starscream

part. I care less about Michael Bay part. This

harkens way back to episode 14 in Starscream's

indiscretions with the giant metal bug laser.

All right, anyway, let's not get into that now

yeah, I as much as I really really like Stan

and For some people that don't know he does have

more than two songs I know the majority of the

I know a majority of the fan base only know the

Touch, the 1986 version, and Dare, but he does

have other good songs. I'll Never Fall, his single

off of the In This Life album from 2007 was really,

really good. He actually redid his Ground Zero

song into Till All Are One, and I love that song.

instrumentals on that song. Yeah. And crap. That

stupid direct message isn't even in here. Shit.

I think I deleted it. I'm sorry. Damn it. I think

it went something along the lines of... No, no,

no, no. The giant metal bug like Michael Bay

raped my childhood. Everybody knows that Michael

Bay raped my childhood. He just bent it over

and took advantage of it. I've forgiven him for

it because I did enjoy the movie. I took it for

what it was worth. It was giant robots fighting

each other, regardless of whether or not it was

G1. I think that's pretty much all for General

Chat. There really isn't that much else going

on unless you want to let people know how your

home improvements are going. Well, no, I guess

stuff I could talk about I found the rare and

elusive activators And I have an activators dirge

they are hanging out on my desk I mean, I was

afraid these weren't gonna show up in stores

at all. And now that they're here I had to come

up very quickly. I was afraid they'd be gone

in an instant like a Transformers animated Skywarp

Never saw him in the store. No, he's on entertainment

earth. I might buy one from and If Adam Paulus

is listening to this Yeah, I listen to his podcast

The the other thing that I got in a mail is heatwave

who is the transformers collectors club exclusive

figure Every year they send out or I should say

every year for the last four years they have

sent out The freebie figure to members and it's

been a combiner limb from the energon Well, either

you know, one of the energon maximus toys And

they all they have been mostly translucent plastic,

you know, but they they they look good together

but now they've sent heatwave, which is the body

and he is A translucent repaint of... Oh, I want

to call him Onslaught. Did they call him Onslaught?

I don't even know. I don't... I don't acknowledge

Energon, so I wouldn't know. Oh, well, yeah.

He's clearly Onslaught. But, yeah, he was the

Energon Brudicus Maximus body. So now they finally

have the full combined this five pieces now and

this is the fifth one and it's cool because before

the last four years they've sent out the limbs

which were you know, I Don't want to say basic

size. Yeah, and then now they have The body which

is much bigger and they gave it away. That's

cool. So kudos to them. It's really nice The

paint job is really good. It's not just translucent

plastic. There's actually paint on this one And

I'm gonna try to upload some photos. Yeah, they

actually, BotCon, and by the time this is posted,

BotCon will have been long over. But BotCon .com

finally posted the souvenir figures. I don't

like any. Including the set, including the box

set, I hate every single figure. I would not

buy any of them. And, you know, people are like,

Bonsaitron, Bonsaitron, Bonsaitron! To me is

like no They were they really yeah up an elite

guard thing here I know they were going for a

g1 elite guard, but they could have at least

Put something together kind of like you know

maybe have an optimist prime elite guard or a

Megatron or or something something very less

obscure Yeah, well, I think they pull out some

obscure characters, but at the same time You

know there's some interesting things to come

out of this number one. There are two I want

to say Voyager class toys yes bigger toys in

the same box set which they have and and and

and and and and and and and and and and and and

and and and and and and and and and and and and

and and and and and and and and and and and and

and and and and and and and and and and and and

and and and and and and and and and and and and

and and and and and and and and and and and and

and and and the the the only comic the the shatter

glass comic and i love almost all the shatter

glass figures even though i've sold half of them

but that's out of necessity and not not wanting

to but anyway uh... you know i just i don't know

that this set the the only thing i would have

ever actually pay money for out of the oh nine

set is the box itself the boxes awesome just

it's Yeah, it is a nice box. Yeah. Um, yes, I

think that's about it for general chat I think

we're gonna get into some episodes Unless you

have anything else to add Well, actually I just

for fun had brought up the pictures on bycon

.com of the exclusive figures and you know that

razor claw kicks ass I remember when they first

introduced razor claw in the comic book and I

was thinking, you know If they ever make a figure

out of this, it's gonna be awesome And they did!

I mean, how cool is that? Uh, the Alita 1 figure,

uh, the - the Thunder - Thunder Blaster repaint?

Not bad. I - I dig that, too. Uh, I saw pictures

earlier of Eric J. Wyatt - You mean - You mean

Derek J. Wyatt, not Eric J. Wyatt. I'm - I'm

sorry, Derek J. Wyatt. Sorry. I know, I know!

I have a cold! I know, I know, I'm fine. Sorry!

Yeah, but yeah, the only thing that really kind

of aggravated me here is the the three pack of

sweeps That is kind of cheap. It was kind of

like I want to say was it 2005 where they had

the very very Very ruined clones. I can't even

say that I have a cold I don't know I didn't

really pay that much attention to the 2005 set

because I wasn't even really into Transformers

back then anymore Yeah, I think the reason why

they put the three the three pack of sweeps in

there is because scourge is a is a He's not a

leader class, but he's a you know He's the leader

of the sweeps. I don't Yes, he needs some sweeps

to lead I suppose well in the comic book they

are the preview of the comic book they put out

and Definitely the comic book I have a cold and

and he's leading the sweeps and I'm thinking,

you know what? They're gonna put sweeps in there

as a souvenir sets and they did. I didn't tell

anybody. I should have. I could have told you

what I would have been like. I totally called

it. Oh, yes. And the other thing before we get

into the episodes today that I should mention

going back to the whole Stan Bush thing. It did

not get into the soundtrack. uh... did not get

into the same child so hard to reese and jules

on uh... i think the only reason i probably wouldn't

pick it up anyway just because i already have

the songs uh... the only reason why i would pick

it up is because nickelback has gotten one of

their new songs burnt to the ground on it and

three of a dead man uh... who is on my favorite

bands they have one of their new songs and uh...

Not meant to be on there. So I'm really happy

for those two bands that they got on a really

cool soundtrack, but Yeah, Stan got jilted again

Yeah, yeah, well, you know this soundtrack So

I most of the bogey We're going to going to some

episodes It is the year 2005. The great wars

are finally over, and the Autobots have won.

But while the Autobots celebrate their victory

with their new leader, Rodimus Prime, the surviving

Decepticons, without a leader of their own and

desperately low on energon, have retreated to

the burned -out planet of Char. So we're gonna

get into some episodes today first up is five

faces of darkness part one now Originally when

I was thinking about doing the reformatting of

the of the podcast I was going to do this as

one whole story But that wouldn't work with my

audio clips. So we're going to talk about each

individual part all as each individual part.

The synopsis for Five Faces of Darkness Part

1 follows as, For the missing Galvatron on a

faraway planet, Rodimus Prime officiates the

first Galactic Olympics, but chaos erupts when

the Olympic torch explodes in an act of sabotage

and Cup, Ultra Magnus and Spike are kidnapped.

Amidst the commotion. Following a lead on Earth,

Blaster and Outback discover the location of

Char, allowing Rodimus and Grimlock to head there

to look for their missing comrades. First of

all, the booklet is wrong. Either the booklet's

wrong or the episode's wrong because in the beginning

of the episode it says... Victor Kareli, however

the hell you say his name, he says it is the

year 2005. The great war is over. He does not

say the year 2006, because later in this season

we will have the big broadcast of 2006. So the

book's wrong. It's got to be a typo in the book.

Yeah, but still. Doesn't matter. It's still wrong.

As I said, Season 3 picks up where the movie

left off with the Autobots victorious. Good thing

I read that correctly and didn't read the typo

that's there. And the Decepticons drooling in

their own vomit. More Decepticon infighting in

this episode, like there was in the movie. Yes.

This is just that I said, drooling in their own

vomit. You were killing me! Nice. I should have

read that first because that just took me off

guard. I'm lucky I wasn't taking a drink right

then. I'm lucky I wasn't taking a drink right

then. Why in the galactic game scene does Magnus

go on and on about Rodimus and tell everyone

that he's the bearer of the Matrix? Wouldn't

that incite riots and everything with people

trying to kill the new leader of the Autobots?

Not necessarily. I mean, if everybody had animosity

toward the Autobots, I... I could understand

that, but I think he was really trying to play

him up. Like, uh... Who's the guy who does the

announcements for boxing? Is that, like, Vince

McMahon or something? I don't know. The only

one I really know is, uh, what's his name? The

Royal Rumble guy, Michael... I forget what his

name is. It's Michael something. I forget, the

guy that does, welcome to the Royal Rumbler,

whatever, let's get ready to rumble that guy.

I don't know, yeah, yeah. That guy yeah that

guy yeah, but anyway yeah I mean I think he was

just trying I think ultra Magnus was trying to

play up Rodimus in such a way where you know

He's he's new Rodimus is a new leader. He's got

very little prior experience I can understand

you know it's okay What if up so that it looks

even though we as the viewer know that the Decepticons

are pretty much like I said before drooling in

their own vomit What if they had a spy satellite

out there somewhere and even? I'll get to this

later on when Perceptor sends Wheely and Blurred

to Autobot City with the transformation cog.

Perceptor even says, you know, we're not going

to send it by Galactic Express for our enemies

could learn what we're sending. So the same thing,

what if the Decepticons are monitoring these

games and, you know, but then again in the movie

we already know that Rodimus has the Matrix,

but I don't know, it just seemed weird to me

that they did that. I think that there had to

have been something going on between the end

of the movie and this and that is most likely

the nigh impenetrable erotimus walking straight

into a fire fight and punching them in the nose

and saying alright you guys are losers and you're

going to go to your own little planet and drool

in your own vomit. Yeah, yeah, you know, so I'm

sure they home that he's is it just me and I

and I have not looked this up I should have but

is it just me or does Carly's voice sound different?

Did they get a different voice actress? I know

that Susan blue played her I believe In the original

or not the original in like season one and season

two, but she sounds a lot more southern in in

this first episode Yes What is Rodimus throwing

his gun down when he says the planet is quarantined?

Doesn't he know it could have gone off? I didn't

understand much of that. It's like, well, why

is this whole thing going? How do you quarantine

a planet, first of all? His leadership choices.

Yes, I can't even speak at this point because

I'm just so aggravated at the way he acts it's

like you know what you're not optimist and you

would think that if you have the collective knowledge

of a Julian years of Transformers or I should

say Autobot leadership in your This is what the

robotic viagra is for if you have a robotic erection

that lasts longer than just a year, okay, please

see your That's not what I said I think it came

out Why couldn't wheelie have just died in the

movie Oh my god, you know, I think that the problem

with wheelie is he has this almost like a sing

-song It's it's it's like oh It's almost like

the elves, you know, it's almost you hear them

talk and it's kind of sing -songy But at the

same time you've got wind chimes going in the

background and that's supposed to be part of

their voice It's it's annoying. You know as far

as rhyming goes who really pisses me off is Blaster.

I love Blaster. I hate hearing Blaster. I don't

like Blaster. Blaster shouldn't even be annoying.

He should be cool. He should be in the comic

books. He was total badass. And here he's just

like, well, I'm the replacement, Jazz, because

Jazz is no longer in the speaking role. Scatman

Crothers is dead, so I'm going to speak in his

place. I still like Blaster. Blaster's cool.

I've always liked Blaster. When Cyclonus tells

the memory bank inside Unicron's head to find

him the last visual appearance of Galvatron,

the music that is played in the background during

the Rodimus Galvatron battle movie is actually

early G1 season music. Season 1 music. It's not

what was in the actual film. I had assumed that

they didn't have the rights to play the music

in the episode. Probably not. Yeah, I figured

that's what it was. But what I thought was interesting

is they have the video from the episode, but

not the audio. They make extensive use of the

Transformers movie footage. Yes. Yes, they do.

Again, I'm sorry to keep this. I think this is

probably the second and last time I will bring

this up. But after that scene, it cuts to blur

and wheelie inside the ship. And the blur and

wheelie scenes really make my head spin. Just

the two of them together is like oh my god my

head is going to explode I Honestly think you

probably could have cuts all of the blur wheelie

scenes out and it would have been the same Experience

it would have been better. It wouldn't have made

my head spin as much Well, I mean, the overall

effect would have been fine. You probably could

have saved yourself 15 -20 minutes. You could

have used showing Galvatron needlessly blow apart

his own nose. The Rockeroid was kind of cool,

kind of like the Quinison ships in the movie.

I thought that was pretty cool. Are you there?

Oh, okay. You're having a little episode over

there. Yeah, I was coughing. Having a coughing

fit was nice enough to mute it. Did you hear

what I said, though? Okay. Yeah, that was pretty

cool. It must be a different model that I learned

on. Oh, God. Yeah, I'm definitely going to have

to have... I'm going to have words to say about

Springer in these episodes. Oh, my God. It's

it's no worse than what they end up driving later

bastard I stole Rodimus's girlfriend and now

I'm gonna drive this rockeroid How is it that

cyclonus and the rest of the sweeps have energy?

But none of the other Decepticons have any that

never made sense to me. I've watched I've watched

this Actually the whole five part but just I've

watched this episode enough times between The

time I was just watching it for enjoyment to

the time I was doing it for for recording this

and It still makes no sense How is it that that

cyclonus and and scourge and the rest of the

sweeps have have enough energy and the rest of

the Decepticons are falling down Well, I can

explain it The fact is that they're so energy

-deprived that they can't fly anymore. They can

barely transform properly. If they had the energy

reserves to leave the planet and get more energy,

they wouldn't be in the predicament they're in.

Whereas the sweeps have enough energy to leave

the planet and find more. And they bring it back

and they're like, hey, here's a little energy,

but... Instead of us giving this to you, how

about you give us what little tiny thing you

have left? Which I thought was, wait a minute,

why don't they give them that energy and then

all of them can leave the planet and find more

energy? Yes, and before... It didn't make sense.

Oh, go ahead. Sorry. No, I was just saying, it

didn't make sense from... the standpoint of if

we took the energy that we this huge pile of

energy that we brought with us if we were to

give that to you so that you could then transform

and fly and leave this rock then all of us could

then split up find more energy and bring it back

and regroup yes but most of the Decepticons aren't

that smart I think Cyclonus is that smart Which

was why I was confused. I think cyclonus though

has tunnel vision at this point All he can think

of is going to rescue Galvatron And then the

final scene after oh We should mention I didn't

mention this and I should mention the synopsis

blaster and outback go to Carbomnia And they

learn the location of Char because they find,

I believe it's Durge and Ramjet are parked on

Karbami's airport or military base or whatever

the hell it is. And they get the information

out of that as far as the location of Char and

Rodimus and Grimlock go to Char. In the scene

where Grimlock is laughing and then talking loudly,

It's funny as hell, because as soon as he does

that, the Decepticons spot him, fire upon him

and Rodimus, ending the first part of the five

-part storyline. And I actually took a screenshot

of the, right before it says to be continued

with the Decepticons running towards them. It

was really cool. So I think we're going to go

to our thoughts on this episode. Now for our

thoughts on five faces of darkness part one I

did make some notes on this but they're pretty

much the same as this synopsis I did also I added

in the the race stuff, but I'll let you go ahead

and do some of your notes The one thing I thought

was interesting is that Autobot City, you know,

this is the same Autobot City that was used in

the movie They officially call it Metroplex Yes,

they do. Yeah, which which explains a lot of

what was going on in the movie. Yup. Another

thing that I had noticed was that Blurr couldn't

make it into the race. And so he lost because

he couldn't attend. And guess who won? Monkey

Spanker. No. It's Monka Spanker. Monka Spanker.

Tell me Monka Spanker is not Monkey Spanker.

You know what I thought was funny is I can just

imagine jazz he's like, you know signing up to

be in the race and he's like Looking at the form

and it says name and he's like Monkey spanker,

you know, no one else really knows what a monkey

spanker is but all the humans in the audience

are going He's funny But yeah, I'm not sure if

it was really jazz that won. I think it might

have been monkey spanker Yeah, it was it wasn't

I rewatched that scene and everybody else was

already well no wait that could have been the

people waiting for i think it was jazz that won

because he was in the lead the entire time but

they mentioned somebody else i don't know monkey

spanker Because he spanks his monkey. Okay, yeah,

we got it. We got the reference. You want me

to spell that out for you? No. One thing I should

mention is that there is a new theme for the

intro, and there is a new title sequence as well

to include all of the new characters. Also these...

the five faces of darkness part one intro would

be the regular season three title sequence for

the most part except and i will mention this

later in a couple of the other episodes of five

faces of darkness the title sequence is slightly

altered i think they switch back and forth no

for what for all from the outside the uh... the

first episode is the regular season three uh...

the Second episode was regular season 3 the third

episode was the new intro right and then for

the fourth episode They go back to the season

3 intro and for the fifth one they go to the

new intro Yeah, and I didn't know if maybe I

was just seeing different cuts or like a UK version

or maybe I was seeing something different that

hadn't gotten the change I recognize it right

away after a while actually after about two double

takes on the on the third episode I actually

recognized that it that it was different slightly

and I wrote it down and I made a note of it So

yeah, I mean I actually dig the new It's not

really a new song. It's the same song. It's just

different people singing it I actually dig it

for that. The transformation animation when the

Decepticons are fighting over the Energon is

really cool. I mean you really see a slow transformation

for Astrotran when he crashes. That was really

really cool. Yeah. He almost didn't make it.

Yeah, he almost didn't make it. He almost got

his ass blown up. I like the way Cyclonus looks

and having a voice Just is is much better than

not having a voice in the movie And they were

probably trying to cut corners in the movie by

not having someone voice him, right? Oh, yeah,

the the new Decepticons don't even acknowledge

like When I say new quote unquote new Decepticons,

I mean cyclonus in the sweeps They don't even

acknowledge Megatron and repeatedly say hell

Galvatron It was a nice thing for continuity

that astro train mentions mentions that Galvatron

used to be Megatron They were the same guy. He

said who cares? He's the same guy anyway. Yeah,

I know but Well, that was actually spoken. That

was the line. It's like they're the same guy

anyway. Yeah, it's like wait a minute Well speaking

of the voices, I didn't realize that Outback

was Australian. Outback is like, throw another

shrimp on the bobby! And I'm thinking, he's Australian?

I don't remember, it makes sense because his

name is Outback, but it didn't occur to me. The

animation on the torch when it exploded was pretty

cool. I kind of like that effect And here we

go on my little rant here. It seems that Springer

and RC are a couple Fuck fuck fuck Springer must

die die die die You know what bothered me about

this episode most was the fact that that Rodimus

number one is the worst shot ever During the

the Olympic terrorism scene You know he's shooting

and he's shooting he can't hit a damn thing to

save his own life, and then he throws his gun

down You know yeah, it's like dropships coming

down to the sky and he can't hit one And I'm

thinking you know what I just saw optimus prime

fly through the air and nail like eight Decepticons

in a row And this guy can't hit a dropship the

size of a small planet And then you know and

then later on he visits the Decepticon planet

with Grimlock with Grimlock and again, I don't

know. Well, I'm not sure if there's just so many

of them or what but he wasn't hitting any of

them He's the only guy on the planet with a working

gun. He can't hit anybody It's killing me. It's

like Rodimus shoots like a stormtrooper Scourge

is smarter than Cyclonus in the scene where they

go to Unicron. Unicron actually groans and Cyclonus

says, must be the wind, and then Scourge replies,

there is no wind in space. That was a little

Mr. Science there for the kids at home. Wait

a minute, how does sound transfer if there's

no wind in space? What happens if somebody farts?

Does it actually go into space? I don't know,

we're not going to get into that. There's no

wind in space, but what if you break wind? uh...

god uh... car bomb the uh... is mentioned in

this and uh... uh... yeah i'd believe that i

was actually going to look this up but i was

scrambling trying to get mister wilson here actually

to come to the recording uh... city actually

forgot about it i'd say i know you're sick i

have a call for everything okay okay well tonight

at least i know i know but uh... i was at disease

i was actually a look this up and i just didn't

there was something where casey case and thought

that they were playing on his i don't know if

it was his his nationality or his religious beliefs

or something or whatever and what with whole

car bomb you think but that's one of the reasons

why you very rarely see clifton anymore because

casey case and was no longer there I didn't realize

that it was a religious thing. I don't know I

cannot and I'm gonna say this right now before

I get any any No, I don't know I think I don't

know. I forget what he is, but I'm going to say

this right now before I get any tweets from Malunas

or GeneralTechno or anybody saying... The Muslims

are going to catch you on fire. Oh my god, I'm

on fire! I'm not for sure if it was his religious

beliefs or if it was his nationality. I'm leaning

towards nationality, but I'm not certain. Char,

a blip. The planet Char, a blip. Quick change

of subject. yes exactly a good segway uh... look

at the children uh... uh... uh... uh... that

would have been kind of cool if they would have

thrown that in somewhere after that there uh...

that's actually that's actually over at the same

group like escape from the planet they can't

point out the subject of the whole Oh, no. So,

um, Chara being a blip on the screen that Rodimus

thinks is a smudge, I thought that was funny.

I guess they don't clean Teletran too regularly.

Yeah, Rodimus, the all -knowing, all -powerful

Autobot leader, looks at it very carefully and

says, I think that's a smudge? I think the last

two notes I have on this one is when Perceptor

offers to help Rodimus and he's like when he's

getting ready to go to Char and he's like Remember

what the last what happened the last two guys

that tried to help me out Good point take Grimlock

and then Grimlock does a happy dance And then

rumble stuttering is very funny. We'll pulverize

him We'll pulverize raise him or whatever he

says is funny as hell. He has a cold He's got

coughing pig disease, too Do you have... coughing

pig disease, oh my god. That's right. Dave came

over and he goes, cough cough cough cough cough

cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough

cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough

cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough

cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough

cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough

cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough

cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough

cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough

cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough

cough cough cough cough cough cough cough cough

cough cough cough cough cough cough Just look

at it. Okay, I'm not disbelieving you. I'm just

trying to clarify. You mean the small ship. That's

exactly what I mean. Okay, the small ship that

shoots out of the rocker. You're just making

it sound worse. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. It's

this large phallic object that flies out of the

hard object. You know, I whoever wrote this it

was point Billy he must have been Pissed off

or something that day because it's like first

we have monkey spanker. Then we have the giant

scrub dildo and I'm sure there's more that I

missed that maybe might be private in -jokes

between him and his buddies way back in 1986

or something but yeah he was really pulling all

the stops here. Before we go into part two of

FFOD is what I'm going to start calling it because

saying Five Faces of Darkness every single time

is... You have to say the whole thing. Well,

it's draining on the voice. It's like a pimp

named Slickback. You have to say the whole thing.

Anyway, I will be mentioning throughout this

episode of TFG1 the freaking color... animation

changes in Rodimus if you remember in this episode

he is like a dark dark almost maroon red and

orange and in the next episode I believe he is

his movie colors so yeah I will be bringing that

up throughout the rest of the episodes so that

was five faces of darkness part one Wars are

over. The Autobots have won. The surviving Decepticons

without a leader and desperately low on energon

retreated to the burned out planet of Char. Once

Decepticons nearly held the quadrant through

terror. Now we scrap like slargs over a few energon

cubes. Is this the fate of the mighty Decepticon

Empire? In desperation they realized that their

only hope for survival was Galvatron. The memory

bank must be in here. There it is. Find me the

last visual appearance of Galvatron. But the

only clue to their former leader's present location

pointed the way to a fiery, distant planet called

Thrall. Meanwhile, the triumphant Autobots sent

Blurr and Wheely with the transforming cog to

Autobot City on Earth. But mysterious invaders

attacked and kidnapped Ultra Magnus Cup and Spike.

What happened to them all? They're gone! Yeah,

and I'll lay odds on who did it. This planet

is quarantined. Nobody comes, nobody goes until

we find Cup, Spike, and Magnus. And what if we

don't? Then we'll trash every Decepticon in the

galaxy. Are the kidnappers Decepticons or some

other race of evil beings? The search for an

answer took Rotomus Prime and Grimlock to Char,

the new headquarters of the Decepticons. Face

it, we're doomed. I don't think there's something.

These guys are hurting. You know, they couldn't

have been responsible for the kidnappings. They

not! But if not they, who are? Who are them?

Grimlocks! Autobots! Me Grimlock not afraid of

Decepticons? Destroy them! Next is Five Faces

of Darkness Part 2. To synopsize this episode...

sure i have the right one here optimus and optim

oh my god oh crap this is not dark awakening

yet Erotimus and Grimlock are overwhelmed by

Decepticon forces, but a strange spaceship rescues

them from captivity. Unchar, Cyclonus Scourge

in the sweeps locate Galvatron, asking him to

lead the Decepticons once more, but find their

former leader filled with an Let's see, where

do we start with this one? I'm getting his ass

handed to him Not really I mean Not really because

just because the Decepticons are out of energy

and their weapons doesn't mean that the evil

bots can't stomp Rodimus and Grimlock but they

eventually don't um... they do a little bit but

then are seeing that bastard springer show up

and rescue rodimus and grimlock well see that's

a sad thing is you've got again quote -unquote

prime getting curb stomped you don't curb stomp

someone unless they're already on the ground

and defeated yeah um... And I must, uh, it's

funny. You know what? Grimlock should have gotten

the matrix. Grimlockimus Prime would have kicked

ass there. And I must, um, I must play something

here because there was something I pretty much

almost fell out of my chair laughing at. Yes.

Yes. That's awesome. And then that is pretty

much Grimlock's only funny part of the entire

episode because then he goes into Rodimus, me

Grimlock, say you must wake up! And then he starts

bawling like a fucking baby. He cries. I tell

you, he's like a big German Shepherd. I mean,

one minute he's doing a happy dance in his tail's

wagon and then he's like, ooh, and licking his

face. Poor Grimlock. He should have gotten The

Matrix. He should have been badass. And now he's

just a big dumb German Shepherd. Yes. This episode

brings us the history of the Quintessons and

Transformers in general. This is done by Rodimus

traveling within the Matrix for a second time.

He does go in the first time when he's... when

he's under... when he got knocked out and then

the Mlock is saying, wake up, wake up, and then...

Grimlock and R .C. get into an argument over

whether he's dead or not dead or whatever, and

Grimlock actually is. He makes a good, smart

point. The Matrix did not show itself, so...

You know, where is Rodimus? What's going on?

And it turns out he travels inside the Matrix

to find out who the, um... Who the enemy is,

as far as who's doing this to the Autobots. Excuse

me. And, um... And he actually does it a second

time later on in the episode where he short -circuits

himself to find out the entire history, which

will be at the end of this episode. Not only

can he not shoot, but he's a cutter. What? This

is the equivalent of slicing your own wrists

here. He opens up his chest and short -circuits

himself so that he can die and then go into the

Matrix. It's like, I realize that you're unhappy

with your life and the way things are going because

you really don't want to be the leader. You're

crying, oh, I'm not a very good leader, and guys

suck, and woe is me. But you don't have to kill

yourself. I mean, come on, let's grow up here,

people. Okay, I have another note that I'm not

really sure why I wrote it down I'm gonna say

it in a second But the note before that is I

like how the continuity has played out between

the movie and now Between the movie in this five

-part story. They've really combined the two

You know the after effects and the before effects

of the movie with the insertion of the Transformer

history, the Quintesson history, the history

of Cybertron. Right. It explains why the Quintessons

are so upset with the Autobots in general. But

what I don't like is the fact that it's not just

an expansion of some of the plot points that

were in the movie like, who the heck are the

Quintessons? But it's also a replaying of a goodly

chunk of the movie. yeah it is it's like we've

already seen this before why why would we have

to go in fact even in in five faces of darkness

they mention it wow you know we've done this

before well right um but there are different

scenes though i mean it's kind of retelling the

movie but with the with rodimus short circu short

circuiting himself and going inside the matrix

that wasn't in the movie that whole history timeline

of how, oh and I must bring this up. I don't

remember who said this. Somebody said about Beast

Machines what they hate about it. I don't remember

who it was. They hated about Beast Machines how

they had to learn how to transform. I think it

was Spada from TFWire, but I can't remember.

Hello, it says it in this episode. They created,

the G1 Transformers created the art of transforming

to elude themselves from the Decepticons. So

I can see where the people in Beast Machines

that wrote that series took... Something from

g1 saying that they must learn again how to transform

because if the transformer if the Autobots who

were the the the consumer good line I guess if

they Invented the art of transforming then they

must have to have had to have taught it to everybody

else actually as far as beast machines go I can't

kind of took that a little differently in the

sense that you know when you're a robot shifting

yourself from one form to another should be as

simple as moving your arms and legs. It's not

something that you have to so much learn. Whereas

with the techno organics, especially in beast

machines, they were leaning more toward the spiritual.

Yeah, it was just a mechanical thing right was

something that you had to feel deep into your

soul And some people like rattrap and particularly

just weren't ready to do that. They're they're

not as in tune with themselves Yes, and and and

Stephen I will definitely actually it's funny

I've had a lot of requests to be on the beast

on leash podcast Because everybody that I know

that is transformers France for the most part

is grew up on beast wars and beast machines so

there's gonna be plenty of I believe it was Rodimus

that says it. He says something to the effect

of somebody turning something into bluey juice.

What the fuck is bluey juice? This is a totally

different episode Really rub that one out didn't

he? It's a good thing this shows explicit It's

like, what happened to the Bluey Juice? Well,

we ran out. We do that once or twice a day. Oh,

God. Oh, crap. Hey, Galvatron lives. Yeah, Galvatron

lives. How is it that the, okay, yeah. That's

another thing, after we find out that Galvatron's

alive. How is it that the Coins are still in

power? In the movie, Grimlock, you know, slams

his foot on the metal ground and sends the army

of Sharktocons after them. Continuity error,

but... I've gotten away. Well, I can also kind

of... I can kind of, um... Explain away my my

my point there There are multiple and many quintessence

They're not just even though they all pretty

much look the same there are many different ones

so yeah Oh, yeah, it is but but there's like

I don't know they're disposable yes uh... canon

in space yeah right when galvatron transforms

and blows up the row or through or whatever the

hell the damn planet's name was so nobody else

can get the plasma baths yeah okay yeah what

is that is that the lava does that lava even

hurt no it's supposed to be energizes him oh

because he kept knocking the sweeps into the

lava in there Trying to get out you think they'd

be like, oh, this is nice. Thanks for throwing

me in the lava This is kind of refreshing. I

appreciate that, you know, they're like and they're

trying to fly out So I'm thinking does that even

hurt? I didn't think of the lava as a having

regenerative properties. Well if you look at

I believe at one of the breaks when it goes into

the whole you know the Transformers will be back

after these messages one of the bumpers before

that it shows Galvatron's face and it shows like

on like on his forehead on his chin and like

on his right side of his cheek it shows like

little glowy stars after he's come about of the

lava so and he even says these baths have re

-energized me. Well, he said that, but I mean,

I took that to mean like, I live on pain. My

mind is completely blown and I'm not even thinking

at this point. And the pain is pushing me into

new horizons of experience. He's like, you know,

the Cenobites have visited him and shown him

new realms. We have a new well new to season

3 I don't believe he was in the movie and I don't

believe he's in season 2 Broadside is introduced

as the Autobot fleet ship and when they go to

rescue Magnus Cup and Spike Springer didn't blow

up Broadside I didn't say they blew up Broadside

I said they brought in Broadside okay, yeah broadside

is new to the series. I'm jumping ahead too because

No, I I saw the ship and I thought the ship looked

a lot like broadside's vehicle mode Because it

would be a scale. It's huge right because it

turns transforms into a carrier Stop jumping

into the episode 3 part damn it. Let me finish

this I'm just saying he was introduced here.

Yes Yeah When I don't think that was him they

didn't actually he didn't have a speaking role

put it that way. Yes, he did Well get into it

in episode 3 he talked an episode Okay after

Springer and RC and everybody else They go do

their rescue thing and they tricked them with

the rock or or supposedly tricked them with the

rocker Roy the empty rocker road trick Grimlock

crashing into the quaint chair. Hello. He can

fly don't they know that The Dinobots flew all

the time. Why the hell is Grimlock not using

his flight? Did he lose his flight capabilities?

He forgot. German Shepards don't fly. The Aerialbots

to the rescue. Because the Aerialbots do come

out of Broadside. I'm not really for sure if

Broadside had a speaking role in this. I know...

I think it was just a ship. I don't think it

was supposed to be. I mean it looked like broadside.

I don't think it was supposed to be broadside.

Yes, I think it was because I think they said

broadside. I think they said his name. Well,

they blow him up in the next episode. I don't

think it's him. The destruction of Quintessa

ends this episode as the Autobots narrowly escape.

So we are going to move on to our thoughts. Now

for our thoughts on this episode and because

I've pretty much Turned the paragraph long old

format into bullet points I didn't write down

any additional thoughts because I kind of mixed

them in but I know you have some written down

I was actually thinking about things this time

Yeah in the beginning of the episode they have

rumble and rumble is huge they have him pretty

much the same size as the rest of the septicons

Yeah, I did notice that That was kind of weird.

Did you pick up on, you know, there's crowd shots

of Decepticons as they're advancing upon, you

know, Rodimus and Grimlock, and I'm trying to

pick out a few that I didn't really recognize.

I'm thinking, who the heck is that supposed to

be? I'm wondering if they're just throwing, you

know, random stock bots or something out there.

No, because the entire, not counting Astrotrain,

Not counting Astrotrain, Soundwave, and the cassettes,

the rest of them are the Combaticons. Because

there's Swindle, and not counting... Well, the

Combaticons I recognize, but there's a lot more.

Really? There were a bunch that I just didn't

recognize. And this happens again later on. I

want to say that in the value... In the battle

where... uh... galvatron is fighting on the quinnison

side and all the septicons are attacking at the

same time the uh... there's a lot of septicons

i don't recognize and i'm thinking what are they

just making things up at this point I'm not really

sure. I know Minasaur or the Stuntacons were

there at one point It could have been new characters

they were introducing but just didn't give names.

I don't know. I would have to actually go back

and watch Watch it again Yeah, that would be

interesting actually that if someone had freeze

-framed it and pointed out who each character

was Oh, well, I will be taking net now that I've

learned with my power DVD Application on my computer.

I can take screen captures when you don't have

to do it with your iPhone Yes, I don't have to

do with my iPhone anymore. So yes, I will I will

be taking screen captures of most of these season

3 episodes If I can remember to do that Yeah,

I You know, I've pretty much gone through all

my thoughts when we did the synopsis. I really

don't have that much else. You missed one. What

did I miss? Marissa Fairborn. Ehh, whatever.

Oh, come on, you know, I know that you might

not be the largest G .I. Joe fan. Well, okay,

now, and I've said this before, it's not that

I'm not a fan, it's not that I don't like G .I.

Joe, it's I did not watch it. I mean, I know

just from - It came on at the same time as Transformers.

Yes, well, I wasn't that much into being an American

hero back then. I was into giant robots. See,

I was just in front of the TV at the time, and

I would watch pretty much anything you put in

front of me. But the fact that Marissa Fairborn

is supposed to be the daughter... of lint and

Mary J who perhaps are my two least favorite

G .I. Joe characters oh my god yeah they must

be because you got her name so wrong it's not

Mary J it's Lady J no Lady J you said you said

Mary Mary oh, it's because it's well known that

Flint was a partaker of the Mary Joana And so

when I was thinking Mary Jane is no we're not

when it was on the Mary Jane at the time that

Marissa Fairhorn was conceived with Lady J. We

are not doing G .I. Joan drugs digressing Marissa

Fairborn in the episode. Yes, this would also

go into later with Marissa being in several episodes

which we will get into not today I don't think

but I mean she is in some of the other ones today

but she's in more as season 3 progresses and

also in only human Cobra Commander shows up from

GI Joe. Awesome. Yes. Classic episode. Yes it

was. And I think that's about it for our thoughts

on this episode. Can we end on Grimlock's laugh?

Uh, Grimlock's laugh? I'm not sure, but... I

can't do it as well as Greg Berg. Yeah, no, but

we can end on this. A fitting end. They're gonna

stomp us! Go in! Rodimus Prime and Grimlock are

rescued from the Decepticons by Arcee and Springer.

The Autobots realize that the Decepticons are

now too weak to have kidnapped Ultra Magnus Cup

and Spike. But if they didn't, who did? These

guys sure know a lot about Cybertron and Transformers.

It's as if they can read our minds. To find the

answer, Rodimus Prime traveled deep within himself

into the matrix of leadership and emerges with

the incredible answer. The Quintessons. Meanwhile,

on the planet Quintessa, the evil Quintesson

sentenced Cup, Ultra Magnus, and Spike to death

in the Sharkticon pit. As this happens, Galvatron

emerges from the lava plasma of the planet Thrull

to lead the Decepticons. Come, Decepticons! We

have an empire to regain! And the Autobots invade

the planet Quintessa to save their friends from

execution. Get in there and pull our guys out

But the quintessence would rather blow up their

own home planet I shall miss quintessence then

allow any Autobots to escape Up next is five

faces of darkness part three gotta say the whole

thing Yeah, I did say the whole damn thing. I

didn't say FF OD First off, this episode has

the alternate scenes in the title sequence. When

I first saw this, I was like, huh? I did like

a Tim Allen. I was like, huh? You know, because

I was like, wait, what? No, that can't be the

right cartoon I'm watching. I mean, it was Autobot

Decepticon stuff, but it was more in line with

the story that was going on. It showed more of

the quintessons in the title sequence. They actually

show floating Autobot and Decepticon sig - uh,

s - s - not signals. Symbols! Um, but yeah, that

- that was pretty cool that they did an alternate

title sequence. It - it just seems strange that

they've flipped it out there in the third episode.

It's like if you were gonna have a new intro

wouldn't you use that on all five episodes? But

it's but but it's funny though because if you

compare season 2 to season 3 it is a completely

new intro even for the regular intro for season

3 so I mean Altering it for I believe two episodes

And I'll go through this later on. It wasn't

that bad and it kind of did go along with the

story itself. And it's the only time that it

was done in the entirety of Season 3. Best quote

of this episode was after the Autobots got blown

up and are floating through space. When Rodimus

goes, well, we'll either be saved or splattered.

When they're heading towards some large... Large

object and they don't know whether it's a planet

or a star or a Sun or whatever and he goes well

Only to be saved maybe saved or splattered Rodimus

what is your master plan here? I think we're

just going to float Until we hit something hopefully

it's not a star Yes, yes, maybe a binary star

we can be cooked and then burned I just realized

why my synopsis notes, I was going to say for

season 3, for episode 3 are so short because

the majority of it was the blur and wheelie storyline.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Remember why I wrote that down. I think he's

he said something to scourge or something I forget

The quints as I've nicknamed them which whatever

I I think that That's actually said in the series.

It's at a couple of points are evil conniving

things. Holy crap It's just like I'm going to

screw you over and they say it In front of you.

Did I just say that? Did I? Yeah, really. There's

an 85 % chance that we're going to be fucking

this guy in the ass. Oh, did I say that out loud?

And the other one says, there's an 85 % chance

that he heard you say that out loud. Yeah, I

know. And Galvatron's like, holy shit, these

guys are fucked in the head. Oh, I'm jumping

ahead in episodes now, yeah. No, no, no, it's

fine. I think it was this episode, it might have

been the fourth part, where Blitz, for some odd

reason, Blitzwing can't remember, but he knows

who the Quints are. He's seen creatures like

them before. Blitzwing has only been in since

Season 2, so how the hell does he know who the

Quintessons are? You missed the episode where

Blitzwing was going into the Matrix of Leadership.

No such thing exists. That's right. No such thing

exists blitzwing and the matrix of leadership

he sort of circuited himself and There is only

someone idiotic like a septicon would do something

like that and went back to see the history of

the transformers That's how he is Anyway, the

planet goo is way cool No, goo is really cool

planet of goo it's a planet it's made of goo

that's so dumb it's almost like it's almost like

a it's a planet it's made of trash it's called

junkion it's a planet it's made of junk trash

junk interchangeable it's called junkion what

do they call it? I know but but it's kind of

funny though that that the junkions would have

a garbage scowl planet Like the garbage scowl

that's in there, you know, that's getting ready

to Swoop Springer up and cut him into little

itty -bitty pieces just like these images right

here They're in your Skype window you're welcome

Well the viewer the home listener you should

say not viewer because this is not a video podcast

and thank god it is not because holy crap nobody

wants to see my ugly mug yeah nobody wants to

see me either do a video podcast no no no i am

one fugly geek actually there's lots of pictures

of me floating around the internet but they've

all got my kids in them so okay that's a little

strange oh no they're cute stuff okay i was gonna

say wait a second I'm a proud dad. Oh, I thought

you said me you said you okay pictures of my

kids, okay, okay? I was like really strange.

I know that's not like oh wait What does Mike

Blanchard do when he's staying up way late at

night? Well? He's photoshopping his own head

in my family photos So anyway We must digress

here. Yeah, I'm sorry my favorite part of season

three Springer gets chopped into bits by the

garbage thing on goo kind of like when Magnus

was blown apart by Galvatron in the movie Yes,

but unfortunately, unfortunately the fucking

junkie on put them back together again Yes Humpty

Dumpty the Humpty Dumpty Optimus Zombie. We need

the Chunkyats to work on Galvatron and bring

him back to Megatron. Oh god, no. You know, that's

what I was wondering. Wouldn't it be cool if

Cyclonus and the Sweeps show up on the lava planet

and find, not Galvatron, but Megatron, who has

been healed by the regenerative properties of

the lava? Yes. Think at that point Frank Walker

was sick of doing the deep gravelly voice Painful

I know that Welker said he didn't he likes the

Megatron voice over the Galvatron He did not

like the Galvatron voice that much, but whatever

The Decepticon no no, I'm just saying Whatever

to his his his preference that's fine. I think

every every character should sound like Fred

no no no no the Decepticons are now led by the

Quintessons all except Blitzwing and this goes

back to what I said a minute ago when the Quintessons

offer the Decepticons energon everybody except

Blitzwing because for some odd reason he knows

who they are but he can't remember so yeah Blur

was awesome in the movie, but the combination

of blur and wheelie just is fucking horrendous.

It can't be said enough. I know, I know. I think

there is one blur and wheelie bad note in every

episode today. Exactly, exactly. You know what

they should have done? They should have mixed

wheelie and blaster and then had like a rhyme

off. To see who could rhyme more. You just don't

like blaster. I don't I don't like blaster You

know you'd be mad at blaster, too If you blaster

comes in and says hey RC. What's kickin? You

know and then and then takes her away from Rodimus

and you'd hate him, too But see blaster didn't

do that the green bastard did that Here's the

animosity. It's like, where did all this anger

come from? Well, he stole his girlfriend, that

dick. If Blaster'd come in and been like, hey,

check out my tape deck. Look at this. No, no,

no, no. We can't even go into that. Just don't

even mention that. There will be no Blaster slash

flick here. I read some fan fiction of a good

Transformers friend of mine. where she wrote

a Vortex Blaster rape scene. Stop it! You stop

right now! I know! So anyway, the episode ends

with the Decepticon army led by the Quints attacking

the Autobots on Goon. And we're going to go into

our thoughts on this episode. I'm still offended.

So, uh, thoughts for the third part of Five Faces

of Darkness? We are not going to be mentioning

any of what just transpired in the synopsis with

the fanfic. We're not gonna be bringing that

up again. We're not gonna bring that up again.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, It's

kind of like a Bugs Bunny, you know, somebody's

saying, I dare you to cross this line, this one,

this one, this one, and then he falls off the

fucking cliff. I think we've already fallen off

the cliff. Yeah, we've pretty much... Some things

that are seen cannot be unseen. Some things that

have been heard cannot be unheard. Well, you

know, I'm thinking of that one website, it was

Rotor Blades in the Ass. Oh, okay. Yeah. What

are your thoughts on this episode? Well, the

one thing I noticed was broadside. Quote -unquote

broadside. Was it broadside? It might be broadside,

but now he's dead and we'll never know. It was

broadside. He did have a voice actor. I remember

them saying broad. I remember, I believe Outback

is there, or not Outback, it's one of the aerial

bots that calls him broadside. Really? When he's

in ship mode, I do remember that. I mean, I would

have to go back and watch it to make sure, but

I do believe that I'm positive in remembering

that they fly out of Broadside, because... I

know they fly out of the ship, but I don't think

they said, thanks for the lift, Broadside. Well,

no. Broadside says, hey, guys, the problem! I'm

dead! What happens is Broadside alerts them,

just like Teletran used to alert them about incoming

attacks. Okay, it was it was broadside that said

oh, we got an attack coming guys or something

like something to that effect and I thought that

might have just been somebody on the bridge that

said that no No, it makes sense because he he

would be in scale at that point because he's

thing is fucking huge. Yeah I don't want to think

it's broadside cuz he got blown up. Well, it

is broadside broadside went bluey juice The planet

of goo was made by the junkians right and the

only way you're gonna get that much goo is from

the monkey spanker. God, okay, yeah. It's an

entire planet made of the nocturnal emissions

of a junkion. Stop, stop, stop, stop. This is

just going in the complete wrong direction. I

didn't really see this going here. This has got

to be the most off -the -wall episode of the

DFG One podcast ever. And I apologize in advance

for all the awful things that I'm going to say

after this. I'm not going to apologize for that.

Yes, really. Oh my god. You know what kills me

though is that they actually blow up the planet.

Or they blow up goo. Yeah, Galvatron does, he

shoots. It's funny, there was a Guar song, I'll

educate you on the Guar song. But at one point,

Odorus Urungus says, if we could blow the planet

up, we would just float away. And I'm thinking,

that's what they're going to do, they're going

to blow up this planet and float away. Yep. Which

they technically already did when they blew up

Quintessa. Yes, that is true. Yeah. Anyway, digressing

completely. Yes, really. Do you have any other

thoughts? I do. I do. They mentioned the warp

gate. Yeah. Cyclonus and the sweeps fly through

a warp gate. And I'm thinking, why would they

have a warp gate? Wouldn't it be cool to have

a free -floating space bridge in the middle of

space? They could use the same art, but it would

be in space. It would kind of be like, I don't

know if you watched Stargate Atlantis. They always

had the stargates the choppa eye in space and

they would kind of you know fly a ship Through

the the the original one and then just fly out

into space You know no, I did not watch Stargate

Atlantis, I didn't watch Atlantis, but I did

watch SG -1 Oh yeah, it's a good show. A couple

times in SG -1, they actually flew a ship through

the Stargate. We're going into a rat hole here.

This is not a Stargate pod. I'm just saying,

you know, it would have been cool to have a space

bridge, as opposed to a quote -unquote warp gate.

Well, I think the warp gates kind of took the

place of the space bridges because... Now see,

I've always questioned this. After the ultimate

doom when Cybertron get gets blasted off into

the galaxy out of Earth's orbit Where the hell

did it go and how the hell can the Autobots and

Decepticons? Fly there without using the space

bridge because sometimes Starscream flew there

in season 2 from Earth And I think the warp gates

are meant to separate outer space like obviously

you have Earth in this sector in the whole you

know Earth solar system. I don't even know The

Milky Way Galaxy, whatever. For a second there,

I forgot what the fuck it was called. I was thinking

you were going to break into Star Trek lore there

for a second. Shut the hell up. It's like, whoa,

we're going to use a wormhole warp gate to go

from the alpha quadrant to the delta quadrant.

Which is where Cybertron clearly is. Stop, stop.

But yeah, I mean, that's probably why the warp

gates were there, was to take the place of space

bridges, I think. Yeah, but to me, they should

have exercised a little bit of Occam's razor

there and just kept with the space bridge mentality.

I thought that was a cool look. I know. Whatever.

The other thing that bothered me about this episode

was the metal -eating acid -spewing monsters.

Wait, metal -eating acid -spewing the shark decons?

No, no. Well, I think it was the... Uh, what

do they call the - later on in episode 5 they

actually call them li -poles. The bugs. Oh, oh,

the things on Jupiter on - on Io. Okay. Yeah,

and I'm thinking, you know, that's pretty lame.

Okay. Uh, you know, you gotta make something

up. I mean, honestly, I would have been happier

if shark decons would have come out of the ground.

Yeah, I honestly don't remember a majority of

the Blur -Skylinks rescue mission because I wanted

to put Blurrin' Wheely out of my mind completely.

That's right. These are memories that we have

hidden deep into the back of our head. Yes, I

don't even think there is one note in episode

3 about the rescue mission at all. I'm going

to need to have some therapy and have a psychologist

draw these memories back so that I'll be able

to talk about them. Yes, really. Because I've

hidden them. They were so bad. In fact, I vaguely

remember who were the characters again. I think

it was Wheelie and Blur. Blur, Wheelie, Fairborn,

and Skylinks. Oh, that's right. Skylinks is there

at this point. But they were like hiding in a

nebula. and again drawing deeply from Star Wars

or Star Trek but no seriously they're hiding

in a nebula and Galvatron's like shooting up

they're going well shit I think they're dead

and again I don't remember exactly which which

one of these episodes that was in because I all

those just kind of blurred together for me and

I don't remember any of them now But that's where

the smart ass of Cyclonus happens because I remember

now that I'm - Oh, Cyclonus is like, what? You

didn't do about their head? Yeah, exactly. I

thought you wanted their heads. Shut up, Cyclonus.

He's like itching his eyeball with his middle

finger, like, you see this? You see this? There

you go, Cyclonus. I like them apples. Yeah, no,

but that was... I didn't like them, and you know...

I'm just genre hopping at this point. We go from

Stargate to Star Wars, now I'm going to go to

D &D. If you remember from the Monster Manual,

the first D &D game, this was way back in the

late 70s, early 80s. I never played D &D, so

I think unless you have any thoughts that are

on topic... The light poles, the quote -unquote

light poles is what they call them later, remind

me of the Sturges. From the original monster

manual and you know, I'm sure there's somebody

somebody is geeky as I am out there It's gonna

recognize us go. Yeah It's not me yeah, we'll

leave it at that but that's that's pretty much

all I had to the cover already then and Wheely

are ambushed on their mission to take the transforming

cog for Autobot City to Earth and are left hurtling

helplessly toward a moon of Jupiter, Io. I'm

tracking an Autobot shuttle with several Decepticon

fighters in pursuit. All hope lies with Marisa

Fairborn of the Earth Defense Command who even

now rockets toward Io. Meanwhile, a daring raid

led by Rodimus Prime and the Aerialbots freed

Ultra Magnus, Cop and Spike an instant before

the planet was detonated by the deadly Quintesson.

Buffeted by the terrific force of Quintessa's

explosion, Rodimus Prime and his companions tumbled

out of control and landed on Goo, the stickiest

planet in the universe. Springer had just been

vacuumed up and destroyed by the elemental processing

unit of Goo, when suddenly the Decepticons attacked.

Faces of darkness part 4 To start this one off.

We have the regular title sequence this time

best quote of the episode Me Grimlock says says

shut your faces. He's talking to the quintessence

Galvatron's rage at swindle is way cool. I don't

remember. Oh Okay, swindle was doing his obvious

swindle thing and he was playing up the quince

and saying why should we You know follow you

when they're gonna give us all the energon. What

are you gonna give us? Okay? Yeah Yeah, Galvatron

does not put up with swindle at all Galvatron

will blast swindles head off for any little thing

I didn't understand his Galvatron. It hates everybody,

but then when he first comes back, who does he

meet first? He meets Blitzwing. And he's like,

Blitzwing, my good friend. And he shakes his

hand and gives him a big hug. Yeah, I don't know.

I didn't understand that either. But then again,

it goes to show that maybe Blitzwing, maybe there's

a little more to Blitzwing. Then we really sing

as though he... Let's not go there. No, I'm not

saying gay sex. I'm saying... You just said it!

No, you are still thinking about the fan fiction

with the vortex and the blaster. No, what I'm

saying is... Blitzwing seems to know a little

bit more about everything. About the Quintessons

and about the Transformers 3. And I don't know

why. Don't know why and I whatever I I honestly

don't know why since he was only featured Predominantly

in season two like once or twice Yeah, I'm not

really sure Rekgar's voice has changed and then

not Eric No, I seriously doubt it's Eric Idle.

It's somebody else. I don't even remember who

it was. That's why I said I don't think Eric

Idle did the... Well, just like Leonard Nimoy

didn't do the episode. Yeah, he didn't do Galvatron,

no. Galvatron confronts the Quints and they lie

to him about a Decepticon Matrix, which obviously

doesn't exist. Obviously. Yes, uh, unfortunately

cry Springer gets repaired and our seat Holy

fucking shit. That's right. Oh Christ. I can't

fucking believe this. Why do the junkies keep

repairing people? I mean, come on Trypticon is

built in this episode. I thought that was very

cool Yes, that was awesome. You know, I think

that that kind of goes against You know what

you would find in in the the war within comics

And I don't know if you read those No, I have

not read comics outside of the BotCon comic.

They actually showed like pre -earth mode trypticon

But it was crappy because it was drawn by Andrew

Wildman, but Don't like Wildman But what was

cool though is in the episode you've got trypticon

being made from an actual earth city and the

people don't know They're completely oblivious

to the fact that their entire city is about to

transform into a giant transverse Rex I I forget

who says it. It's one of the said it might it

might be one of the constructicons He goes sleep.

Well human creatures when you wake up. You're

going to be awakened by a surprise Yes, the Decepticon,

okay Like I said before part four the synopsis

was very short. I don't know what I was doing

when I wrote this up It ends with the Decepticons

and the quintessence attacking both earth and

Cybertron simultaneously and the destruction

of the Autobots is a sure that the cliffhanger

I was gonna say it did seem like the synopsis

must have been really short because you didn't

cover it It's a cover one offices. We didn't

read it. We just went right into oh shit I, yeah,

I forgot. Oh, had you meant to? Because you didn't

do it for three. No, yeah, I meant to. Oh. I

was going to say something. I didn't do it for

three either. Oh, shit. Yeah, what's up with

that? Well, bonus feature time, ladies and gentlemen.

For five places of darkness part three. You can

add that back up. I'm not adding it back. I'm

putting it in here. Are you serious? Yeah, I

don't care. Oh my god. I don't care. Just skip

it. You know, that's the whole point of this

podcast. It's become one laughfest and one big

joke, so it doesn't matter. Escaping Quintessa,

Rodimus and his allies crash land and become

stuck on goo eight seven. 39 be a planetoid made

up of strange vicious substance Galvatron returns

whatever Galvatron returns to solar system and

intercepts a shuttle piloted by blur and wheelie

who have been charged with delivering Metroplex's

transformation cog to Autobot City on earth blur

and wheelie crash onto Io, one of Jupiter's larger

moons. Back on Char, the Quintessons arrive and

make the languishing Decepticons an offer that

they can't refuse. Unlimited energon for the

destruction of the Autobots. That was for part

three. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I completely

forgot. I had the book sitting right here next

to me. And yeah, we didn't do that. So part four

goes into saying... This is just begging for

editing, honestly. I don't care, I don't care.

We'll fix it in post. No we won't! Yeah, yeah,

yeah, fix it in the editing. No, we won't. Oh

crap. Okay, part four. Galvatron arrives on goo

just in time to bring the Quintesson powered

Decepticons back to his side and immediately

threatens to kill the nearby Quintessons for

stealing his troops. The Quintessons calm the

Decepticon leader with the promise of the Decepticon

matrix of leadership. the two teams call a truce.

In a surprise move, Retgar attempts to rescue

the goo -bound Autobots seeking answers to the

mysteries of the Quintessons Rodimus Prime, takes

a dangerous journey into the Matrix once again

and learns the true origins of the Transformers.

So I must say in You know, very apologetically,

I don't know what I was thinking. This record

has been very off -the -wall. This has probably

got to be the most off -the -wall record that

I've had in 17 episodes. You can use my excuse

if you want. No, I don't have a cold, and yeah,

no, we're not doing that. Coughing pig disease.

I don't even remember where we were going with

this. What is this clip? We haven't... This is

supposed to be the part four synopsis. We haven't

actually gotten to the... our thoughts yet. We

could just bleed right into it. Nooo... Yeah,

no, because I don't want to have to edit it down,

so... Alright, up next is our thoughts on part

four. Alrighty, this is our thoughts for... five

faces of darkness part four which i could have

sworn we already recorded but we didn't um...

i have no notes other than what i put in the

synopsis but what do you get i i i have a few

actually the uh... there's a scene with galvatron

he says everyone and oh oh yeah yeah when they

go okay i i i'm not strung still your thunder

here but that i'd I do remember that scene when

they go to find where the Decepticons are, where

the Quinisons took them, and they get there.

Galvatron's like, shoot at them! And Cyclonus

is like, who? Everyone! Everyone! Now, this may

be another thing that you don't recognize right

off hand, but this reminded me immediately of

Gary Oldman in The Professional. Never saw it.

You never saw it? Oh, you have to run out and

see that. That was like, uh, I think it might

have been Natalie Portman's first movie. Uh,

but she was very young in it. She might have

been like 12. But it's, uh, there's a hit man

named Leon and he teaches Natalie Portman how

to be an assassin. And Gary Oldman is the crooked

cop who has to, uh, you know, find them and defeat

them. He eventually gets killed by Leon, but

what it comes down to is... Did he get killed?

I don't remember. But the comeback, full circle,

is... Gary Oldman is trying to get the professional

and he's talking to the police officer there

and he says, you know, what should we get? Should

we get vice squad? Should we get, you know, special

forces? And he kind of looks at him and says,

get me everyone. And the cop says, what do you

mean everyone? And he looks at him and his face

is pure strained anger. And he says, everyone!

You have to see the movie just for that scene.

Yes, I would just like to say the CFG1 podcast

and the Geekcast Radio Network are not responsible

for Michael Wilson's off -topic rantings. It's

not a rant, it's my fanboy rantings. Gary Oldman

is awesome. I mean honestly, if there was a...

Well, yeah, one of the actors that I would like

to meet the most. Gary Oldman would be up there

because everything I've seen him in ever has

been awesome Cool. Okay next on topic note Bugs

that transform into missiles Yeah, that's kind

of stupid. Yeah, and then the bugs transform

into the missiles and then they attack and then

they leave once the ship is destroyed Yep, and

then everyone's just kind of like weren't we

being attacked a minute ago by bugs that turn

into missiles because I I feel Sense of urgency

here, but I'm not sure why because we're not

being attacked anymore. I don't really understand

it Yes, and I must bring up skylinks And I actually

also must bring up a point that will be a special

feature at the end of this episode One of the

history clips at some of the end of the cartoons

uh... talks about the auto bots and reuniting

with some of their other people around the galaxy

so i can kind of discount the fact that they

introduced new characters without having to go

to vector sigma because they said that they were

already pre -existing that they just lost touch

with them so sky links was one of those but sky

links is the is basically tf a bumblebee with

a huge -ass chip on his shoulder. Skylinks thinks

he's all that. Basically, imagine TFA Bumblebee

in season one, where Bumblebee's like, I'm the

fastest thing alive and I can do whatever the

hell I want to do. That's pretty much Skylinks.

He thinks he's superior to everybody, which I

understand that's his character, but after a

while it really pissed me off. That was a very

good bumper Robinson there, actually. Nicely

done. But anyway, as I said before, they tend

to do a lot of standing around while under fire

in season three. Yeah, I don't get it. I just

don't know. And the other thing about this is

it's still an 80s cartoon. Most of the 80s cartoons

and television shows were, and A -Team is a perfect

example, fire at your feet. I miss everything.

Or if there's a chandelier or a large rock formation

above your head, they'll shoot at that instead.

Yes, exactly. Yeah, you get a lot of that too.

You got anything else? A few things. They had

a flashback when they're showing the history.

Oh yes, the history. Yeah, and they have eight

construction cons. Ah, I have a cold. Eight eight

construct icons who are building Megatron? When

they're talking about you know how Megatron came

to be Oh really was there eight there did not

know I counted well one of them might have been

a lamp pole But he was a very green and purple

lamp pole I Couldn't tell but I freeze framed

it and I was counting like I'm pretty sure it

was eight And I thought well where'd the other

ones go cuz that would have been that would have

been cool Yeah, but yeah, and then the other

thing is that? You know in the episode where

the aerial bots go back in time to the golden

age of Cybertron? Yeah. And they meet Alpha Trion,

but he's a very young Alpha Trion. And you really

don't recognize him because he's so young. But

then when it turns out that, oh, he's Alpha Trion

and he just built Optimus Prime. In this episode,

they go back and they meet the old Alpha Trion.

And I'm thinking, ooh, huge continuity error

there. can kind of probably distinguish that

because of the fact that I Mean I'm trying to

think how am I gonna word this they went back

to the big the very beginning Of of history As

far as that goes I believe I don't know I'd have

to watch it again. Yeah, you're probably right

I would have to watch it again. I don't remember

But actually they do that again later on in season

3 in in forever is a long time coming They show

a young alpha try on and they show him as a 3

right and then the and then because And I know

this is completely it's kind of off topic of

this episode, but obviously it's coming up on

the TFG one podcast, but You know they show superior

on in two different times at once to save everybody

and Superior on is the one that figures out a

three is alpha try on Yeah, well nobody else

knew but anyways, it's like Obi -Wan Kenobi.

Isn't he? Oh be one oh The Star Wars yeah, you

know I'm equal opportunity geek Yes, I am too,

but... The other thing I had noticed was all

ancient Autobots look like junkions. Yeah, pretty

much. Colorful junkions, but junkions nevertheless.

Did you notice in that scene that all of the

ones that were before Prime, majority of them...

They either have two models they have the prime

mold or they have the rotamus mold with a different

shaped face But it's basically the same type

of helmet I think I would have to go back and

watch it again But it seemed to me that they

use those two molds over and over and over again

the optimus head and the rotamus head, right?

Yeah And they just kind of change the sizes and

the shapes of the faces. Yeah, as they go back

in time. But another thing I noticed is the earlier

the head, the more they look like a Quintesson.

Their faces, I mean. Because the first face they

showed looked like a Quintesson face. Except

with a helmet around it. Which I thought was

kind of neat, but not something that... Most

people would notice. It's like, oh, he's awful

ugly. I wonder how he could have been the first

Prime. Yes, I don't really know. Yep. But that's,

oh, you know what? One more thing that I want

to throw out there is the fact that Erotema sucks.

And nobody respects him. I mean, I must admit,

and I will say this throughout the rest of season

three. Yeah. Rodimus is a whiny bitch as much

as I loved him in the movie. Yeah, it's cool

He is a he is a whiny bitch. Well, I loved hot

rod in the movie and Rodimus was in the movie

for all of about two minutes five minutes. Yeah,

and and so I mean they're there You just assume

that he was the second coming of prime and later

on in season three you find out No, he's not

the second coming of prime in fact He's sorely

aware that he's never going to be as good as

prime And at this point you have RC and Springer

talking with Rodimus or yeah And Springer's like,

oh leave the boy alone. Yeah, it's like he's

not the boy He's your fucking leader and you

will heave to and act like it The actual line

and I remember this I don't know why because

springer use springer's dumb fucking stupid cheating

ass Fucking home wrecker. He used a big fucking

word. He goes. I'll leave the boy alone RC Let

let the boy cogitate a bit and I'd say what the

fuck is it cogitate? But yeah Cogitate that's

what codgers do like him overall as the leader

that he is he does have some good points he has

a lot of bad points and one of those the majority

of it is the fact that he is a whiny bitch he

is truly oh this is what I was gonna say earlier

I was gonna go to a TFA reference and as much

as I hate Sentinel Prime Rodimus is truly not

the primer prime Yes, I will drink to that sir.

Yes. So is that all we have for the thoughts

on part four? I think it I think I've exhausted

my notes Okay Stranded on a Jovian moon blur

and wheelie were attacked by the deadly light

poles Continuing to scan I think I've spotted

them alive, but something's very wrong down there

Marissa Fairborn of Earth Defense Command flew

in to rescue them Get to the ship! But her ship

was destroyed. Now they're marooned with a transforming

cog leaving Autobot City defenseless. Meanwhile,

with the help of Rek 'gar, Rodimus Prime and

his companions fled from the attacking Decepticons

on Goo and headed for the planet Junkion. Very

well, Junkions. Then you will share the Autobot's

fate! To learn the secret of who the Quintessons

really are, Rodimus short -circuited himself

and went deep into the Autobot matrix of leadership,

embarking on a journey into - Cybertron's distant

past. He discovered that the Quintessons were

the creators of both the Autobots and the Decepticons.

Cybertron's in deadly danger. We're heading back

there. Now the Quintessons are intent on reclaiming

Cybertron at any cost. To do it, they begin a

deadly assault against both Earth and Cybertron

itself. Decepticons! The Decepticons will destroy

the Autobots! Then we will crush the Decepticon!

And soon, Cybertron will be ours! killing jar

whoops um let's see on earth a mammoth new shut

up a mammoth new decepticon shut up a mammoth

new decepticon named trypticon destroys the ark

and heads toward autobot city on cybertron a

decepticon armada attacks while the autobots

planetary defenses are down skylinks and the

predacons each head to secure the wayward transformation

cog but the quintessence have an ace up their

sleeve planning a betrayal of galveston in the

immediate destruction of all transform our life

on cybertron uh... yes that was the little booklet

synopsis and i can put that away until next week

or at least until monday if we're anyway uh...

alternate title sequence people second time and

this is the only time uh... episode let's see

was it three or four Episode three and five episode

or part three of five faces of darkness in part

five have an alternate title sequence That was

never shown again the original new title sequence

that was shown in parts one two and four is The

actual title sequence for the rest of season

three Depressing depressing depressing the arc

gets destroyed in this episode No, it doesn't

get better It doesn't get better. They blew up

the blowing up volcano Well, yeah trypticon stepped

on it And I'm gonna step on your ship too. Okay,

the Predacons are introduced in this episode.

It should be noted that the Quintessons send

the Predacons after Skyling, not the Decepticons.

And in every other episode, the Predacons are

with Galvatron, so what the fuck's up with that?

Did the Quintessons lend him out? I'd lend them

out and you hopefully you have the notes on what

the names of the damn Predacons are because the

only one I remember is I think tantrum and razor

claw and dive bomb so I got three out of five

I don't know anymore. You know, it's scaring

me too because I've got them on my shelf and

I'm looking at them and I'm trying to remember

who the last guy is. Oh, dude, it's bad when

you have a Transformers fan that has the actual

toys on his shelf that he can see them and he

can't remember the fucking name. And I got the

ones with the metal chest too. And they're complete.

They're in pristine condition. They're awesome.

And I can't remember the name offhand. I remember

Rampage and... Yeah. Okay, anyway, we can run

along. I would say that they did get their ass

kicked a little too easily. Yes, they did very

much so. That was a shame. Magnus knocks Durge

and Ramjet out in one punch. That just goes to

show you how good Ultra Magnus is as a warrior.

That goes to show you how little they think of

the Season 1 and 2 Transformers versus the movie

slash Season 3 Transformers. Yes, uh, yeah, that's

true. Even though they're not as good. Yes, yes,

yes. Throwing it out there. Plus their coneheads.

Um... Blitzwing heads to the Quinison ship to

give a status report, but before he can do this,

he learns of the full plan by them to double

-cross the Decepticons. However, before Blitzwing

can explain it to Galvatron, the leader punches

him for not obeying. Yeah fucking Galvatron if

Galvatron had if he had have learned that information

The story would have gone a complete different

way. Yeah Yeah Transformation cog football. Oh

God Transformation cog football. We all know

about your utter disdain for transformers playing

human sports It's not really that! It's just,

it's very nonsensical! It makes no friggin' sense!

You have a 40 -ton robot trying to play, uh,

uh, uh, sports with humans! Ugh! God, come on!

You know, with, uh, again, I'm gonna... Don't

make me bring up Powerglide and that fucking

merry -go -round. The, uh, the thing this reminded

me of was, uh, going way back, uh, Flash Gordon.

Uh, yeah, Flash Gordon, who is in the original

movie, who was a football player, and they were,

there's a scene in the movie where he's trying,

he's playing like, keep away with the poison,

uh, uh, doomsday device and trying to keep it

away from, uh, memes, minions. And they're throwing

it to, you know, amongst themselves, the good

guys versus the bad guys. I must actually go

back to one of the previous episodes today because

this actually comes back or actually this this

scene now with the cog football actually Kind

of it didn't really already happen, but when

spike Magnus and cup are captured and they're

walking Down the hall first of all the quintessence

did not put the energy bars on them like they

did cup and hot rod in the movie uh... so they

could pretty much transform whatever the hell

they wanted to but uh... spike ask asks magnus

in in the previous episode does he remember a

certain play and he goes uh... no and he turns

the company goes cut the remember that play uh...

no but in a situation like that all you can do

is Russian and pray and they start rushing them

and transforming and yeah but that's that's a

earlier episode uh... let's see what's the next

one here Okay, if all the Autobots in on earth

are inside Metroplex during the battle platform

city mode Where the hell are they when he's in

robot mode because he is shown transforming?

while they are in The city this isn't the fucking

Power Rangers where everyone has a seat in the

cockpit I think they do I think they do now that

I remember going back, but that's just a funny

line though. That's just a funny line of mine.

It's not the Power Rangers, the Power Rangers

were ripped off from the Transformers. I wouldn't

say that either. But I'm not going to go into

Power Rangers because we need five teens with

attitudes. It's like, no, I don't want attitude.

I don't want it. I think Metroplex is big enough

that everyone can stand up comfortably even in

robot mode. Yeah, probably. But now that I'm

remembering it, they were sitting in seats. So

if you've got somebody that was originally in

a leg of... In a part of Metroplex that turns

into his leg, you've got somebody sitting pretty

much face down, looking at the fucking toe of

the robot. Well, it's entirely possible that

they could have... Me when I go on when I fly

on Southwest Airlines, I always get the seat

facing away from the cockpit They have two different

seat rows of seats on on their airplanes one

of them faces the back and not the front so when

When when we're landing I am like leaning forward

almost over in the seat because I'm facing the

wrong way But I mean, it's the same thing. Anyway,

I don't know uh... uh... yeah yeah yeah uh...

galvatron yeah galvatron is a fucking moron not

listening to blitzwing and then pulling the lever

that will freeze all transformers in time oh

my god oh and the greatest thing on earth when

they froze they plum burned out they just don't

make them like they used to No. What kills me,

there's a giant off switch at the center of Cybertron.

That's exactly how I felt. Yeah. It's like, having

trouble breathing just hurts. Ow. Yes, yes. Giant

off. No, literally, it's a giant off switch.

Yes, it is. Bring me the head for a delay. He's

phoning it in at this point. Yeah, pretty much.

Spike pulls Rodimus' gun from his cold, frozen

hand and shoots the switch, reactivating the

Transformers and the Quints' escape. The episode

ends with Rodimus making a speech about the Decepticons

not being the only enemies that they have. And

I believe that is it for the synopsis. Unless

you have anything else to add to the synopsis?

Nope, just thoughts. Alrighty then. And now for

our thoughts on the final episode of Five Faces

of Darkness. What'd you think? But I think that

they were really going for an epic storyline

with with a lot going on And I just felt with

this ending they they they just dropped the ball

okay, yeah, and and I kind of agree because You

basically have a spider -man 3 problem here where

you have more than one villain And you have,

like, six different storylines going on with

different characters. You have Rodimus and his

whole team. You have Blurrin' Wheelie dealing

with Skylinx and being rescued. You have the

Earth team of Autobots. You have the Decepticons,

the Quinisons. And just, it's one giant clusterfuck

is what it is. Right, the rogue Blitzwing. You

can't decide who he wants to work for. Well,

he actually does say before Galvatron blasts

him that he could never, and then Galvatron blasts

him. Yeah, well, I kind of like that. I kind

of expected more from Blitzwing. I thought they

were going to do something cool with him, but

they didn't. And again, the ending was just so

anticlimactic. I was expecting to see something

like... You know, somebody jumps up and says,

see, humans are unpredictable. And all the quintessence

kind of shake their head and go, oh, we should

have known better. But no, normally, cartoons

like this beat you over the head with the moral

of the story. And this one just kind of glossed

over it. I think that the end speech, even though

it was kind of anti -climatic, it's something

good that, you know, The lesson learned out of

it is you don't just have one enemy or you just

don't have to worry about one thing in the universe.

You have to worry about multiple things. I think

overall, and we can give our thoughts on this

because I think this is pretty much the end of

the episode discussions and stuff. Overall, all

five parts I really enjoyed. I've watched them

about six times, so I'm kind of like burnt out

on them, but Yeah, and short of going back and

saying my favorite scene in the movie is Rodimus

Galvatron battle No, I was putting that in there

because you keep complaining about the fact that

I kept saying it over and over again. Overall,

I think Five Faces of Darkness was a good starting

point for season 3. There are a lot of season

3 episodes that we will be getting into come

episode 18 and 19 that I absolutely fucking hate.

Just because they just don't... It's like you

said... with part five you think the writers

dropped the ball there are some episodes where

i think the writers basically dug a hole and

dropped the ball all the way through to fucking

china i mean just because it is so god awful

it's like i could have written a better one yeah

really no no i'm saying yeah yeah really you

probably could have but overall As a beginning

to season 3, introducing all the new characters,

I did enjoy Five Faces of Darkness. So yeah,

that's pretty much all I have. What else you

got? Uh, Trypticon. Yeah, Trypticon was cool.

Trypticon looks like a guy in a Godzilla suit.

No, Trypticon is a metal guy in a Godzilla suit.

He's Mechagodzilla. He's Mechagodzilla. That's

what I mean. It was just very poorly animated.

I wasn't really thrilled with that, but... uh...

i did like the triptychon versus metroplex scenes

yes those are actually pretty good and those

are actually reference later in the series yeah

i believe it's grimlock that says he wants to

see i forget which episode it is it's coming

up i don't know if it's next uh... next episode

or the episode afterwards but uh... grimlock

says to teletran he wants to see uh... the scene

where metroplex finishes off triptychon uh...

by throwing him in the ocean and uh... teletran

will get into it but yeah i mean uh... but at

least they're doing at least they're doing continuity

at least they're not just doing i mean that there

are a couple single storyline like you know one

-shot stories but at least they're you know taking

stuff from previous episodes which i do like

yeah i like that So that has been this has been

five faces of darkness and Yeah, I think that's

all I have unless you want to and do you have

anything else? Well, you know, you gotta think

about it when you were little and Transformers

only came on once once a week Every morning was

it every morning 6 a .m. Monday through Friday

Let's say I didn't think that happened until

I went into syndication. Oh, well then, well

I guess I must have caught it in syndication

then. I didn't realize it was once a week because

I thought it was on Monday. I might be wrong.

I'm thinking it's just like Saturday morning

cartoons, but no, I think it was like every day.

Maybe it was every day, but I'm thinking that

if it was once a week, this would have taken

five weeks to get through. Yeah. And that, that

would've really sucked. Yeah. Yeah, that would've

really sucked. It's like, wait a minute, I waited

five weeks for this crappy ending? Yeah. It's

like, you know, I'm... Yeah, but as a kid, you're

not gonna see it as a crappy ending, because

I mean, okay, when this would've aired, this

was 87, I was seven years old. So, I mean, I

was still very impressionable by Transformers

in general. Yeah. by the cartoon and i'd i didn't

really think about any i'd just thought all giant

guns giant robots fighting each other awesome

yeah now that that's true you don't really see

it with a critical eye until much later so here

i am to ruin it for all the little kids who haven't

actually seen it yet you old drunk bastard i

was sobered up long before Yeah, the podcast

started. Yes, I know. This thing is how you have

a cold! Well, the thing is, I thought I'd have

a couple glasses of wine, watch a DVD, settle

in for the night, and it's like, awk. I completely

forgot I was going to hang out with you tonight.

Yeah, he basically almost ditched me, folks.

Aw man, that's such a hateful, hateful way to

put it. But yeah, it's true. No, no, but yeah,

it's true. Again the TFG1 podcast is not responsible

by anything Michael Wilson says on this podcast

So I think we are going to close this episode

out All right, this has been episode 17 the TFG1

podcast just want to let everyone know Following

this little voice clip that I'm doing here. You

will hear the Autobot Decepticon Predacon and

cassette tape Transformers history audio so that's

what's coming up next and then probably some

commercials and then the end fleeing the wars

that devastated their home planet of Cybertron

most of the Autobots made Earth their temporary

home Under the leadership of the powerful robot

Optimus Prime, the heroic Autobots battled fearlessly

against the assaults of the evil Decepticons,

protecting their new human friends. Now it is

the year 2006, and the Autobots have reclaimed

the planet of their origin, Cybertron, to establish

a new Golden Age. In migrating from Earth, they

have been reunited with companions from other

regions of the galaxy, including Skylinx, the

gigantic space shuttle. Blurred. the fastest

car on wheels cup the flinty old warrior wheelie

who always offers advice and rhymes sprinter

the mighty helicopter, Arcee, a forceful female

Autobot, and Wreckgar, the leader of a tribe

of Autobots that dwells on the planet Junkion.

The Autobots have a new leader, Rodimus Prime,

who inherited from Optimus Prime the Autobot

Matrix of Leadership. As a receptacle of the

wisdom of Autobot leaders for the past millions

of years, the Matrix helps Rodimus guide the

Autobots in their darkest hours as they fight

to end the tyranny of the evil Decepticons. The

Decepticons are a malevolent race of robot warriors.

Brutal and merciless, the Decepticons are driven

by a single, undeviating goal. Total domination

of the universe. In the war that raged between

the Decepticons and Autobots for millions of

years, their home planet of Cybertron was drained

of its once rich sources of energy. In hopes

of finding new reserves for making Energon their

basic fuel, the Decepticons follow the Autobots

to Earth. Huh? What is it? Laserbeak, prepare

for flight. Operation destruction. Fire it! Fire

it! Under the leadership of the ruthless Megatron,

they continued their efforts to destroy the remaining

Autobot forces. They attacked. throughout the

Earth and in space using their underwater Decepticon

headquarters as their staging base and bunker.

But, by the year 2000, the Decepticons had proven

to be the losers of the last great war. In an

attempt to bolster the Decepticon's strength,

the evil planet -gobbling world Unicron reformed

Megatron into a new robot named Galvatron to

lead the Decepticons in a new era. Now, in 2006,

the Decepticons have retreated to a burned -out

hulk of a planet called Char, a world of ash

and ruin. Galvatron and his Decepticon lieutenants,

the sleek and awesome Cyclonus and the mighty

Scourge, the master of the dreaded sweeps, strike

fear throughout the universe. Their ultimate

goal? To reconquer Cybertron and destroy the

Autobots. From the secret files of Teletran 2.

In the days of Megatron, Decepticons developed

the art of espionage using cassette technology.

Their first cassette, LaserBeak, could fly undetected

into any Autobot stronghold, record information

and then return to base. Then, the Decepticons

decided to increase their spying abilities with

Ratbat. As a bat, Ratbat can hide in crevices

that Laserbeak can't reach, and he's especially

effective in tunnels, caves, or in the darkness

of space. Ratbat reports on the Autobots' most

carefully guarded secrets. The Autobots had no

choice but to strike back at these Decepticon

techniques of stealth, building a force of cassette

Transformers of their own, with Blaster as their

guardian. They constructed Ramhorn, Rhino, who

can use animalistic force if cornered, and Steeljaw,

the lion, who can crawl through the foliage of

any alien world to sneak up on Decepticons. They

also bolster their cassette force with Rewind

and Eject, who can transform to robot mode and

use more conventional fighting force techniques.

The untamed forces of nature, the Predacons are

ferocious animal robots who lash out with fury.

Swift, savage, and always relying on animal instinct,

the Predacons explode into action. There's Dive

Bomb, the eagle who can spot a target from a

mile up in the sky. Rampage, the tiger who can

leap 500 feet. Headstrong, the rhino whose horn

can puncture eight feet of solid rock. Tantrum,

the buffalo who loves to use brute force. And

there's the Predacon commander, Razor Claw, whose

claws can whip through steel. Together, they

combine into a hair -trigger horror, the giant

robot Predaking. Predacons! Merge to become Predaking!

As a warrior, Predaking has no equal. As a weapon,

he has no known weaknesses. He can lift 500 tons

without even straining a circuit. With the help

of the Predacons, no planet is too wild or untamed

for the Decepticons to conquer. Coming this summer,

And we are bringing you our new podcasting network.

Please tune in. This ad is sponsored by GeekcastRadio

.com. Is this the Matrix? Rodimus Prime, you

have embarked on a journey into Cybertron's distant

past. Prepare to look into the face of your creator!

Eons ago, Cybertron was a factory. built by the

Quintessons to manufacture robots. There were

two product lines. Military hardware and consumer

goods. These two product lines were the lineal

ancestors of the Decepticons and the Autobots.

In time, the Quintessons endowed their products

with a simulated intelligence. Now... The machines

could manufacture themselves. And before long,

they grew too lazy and greedy to bother even

with that. There were simpler ways to wring performance

out of their slaves. The Quintessons simply recycled

it on the spot. Quintessons also used the robots

to entertain them. The Shun was pitted against

the Shun in gladiatorial combat. Some of us,

however, found this pointless combat repellent

and sought to put a stop to it. We failed. But

the seeds of revolt had been planted. and would

one day yield a terrible harvest. What the Quintessons

failed to grasp was that their robots had developed

emotions that knew and felt the difference between

freedom and slavery. And that oversight sealed

their fate. For a time, the robots lived in harmony.

But this did not last. The former consumer goods

who called themselves Autobots sought a peaceful

existence, while the military hardware wanted

conquest. And they got their way. For centuries,

they tyrannized the Autobots, knowing we could

never defeat the Decepticons with firepower.

We turned to stealth and invented the art of

transforming The Autobots rule for many centuries,

but in time the Decepticons also learned how

to transform Thus one fateful night Far below

the city, Megatron was born. The Matrix was passed

to Alpha Trion, the oldest of Autobots, who kept

it safely hidden for many years, until the next

Autobot leader appeared, a gentle robot known

as Orion Pax, who was fated to become Optimus

Prime. And so began the Third Cybertronian War,

which ranges to this day. And the Quintessons

are our creators. Through all these centuries,

they have waited for the proper moment to strike,

to reclaim the planet that we Transformers took

from them. And now they're going for the gusto,

right? Do not forget what you've learned of our

past, Rodimus. From its lessons, the future is

forged. That is all for this episode of the TFG1
