STUDIO 2009
Fast and Furious (2009) Review

About this Episode
Do your job, Skype, let's go. Alright, here we
go. Fast four, Mike, what are you talking about?
It's a continuity thing, folks. I hate going
on a continuity order. Tokyo Drift honestly should
have never happened. But it did happen. It only
took them X number of years to actually figure
out how to fit it into the continuity. But for
now though, tub it up. for now though fast and
furious which year was this god i don't even
remember 2009 fast and furious 2009 fast for
letty the villain no tune in next to see what
shaun and i think Easy date my sister. You're
lucky man. How's that? You're still breathing
There's nothing wrong with your podcast player
do not attempt to adjust the volume hello and
welcome back into our studio you were Studio
2009 only on the geek cast or radio network.
I'm of course to join Mike and join me Once again
is my buddy Sean aka old schools. Hello, sir.
How are you? Good, how are you on this fine Wednesday?
I'm pretty good pretty good by the time people
hear this who knows who the hell knows what day
it'll be because we're recording this for the
future But for you Yeah, just for me, that's
right. I'll see if I can work this to be a Wednesday
in the future. That's right. Today we are continuing
on in our 11 episode arc covering every Fast
Saga film from the first one nearly 25 years
ago all the way up to Fast X from 2023. This
time around we're talking about Fast and Furious
from 2009. The naming scheme on these movies.
Oh my god. I don't know what's worse. the naming
scheme on the fast saga movies or the naming
scheme for cell phones like i swear yeah like
iphone 16 iphone 16 plus iphone 16 minus iphone
16 plus pro minus max yeah and you know they
used their team and spent like 16 million dollars
just to come up with the name of the next one
absolutely 100 % so it's funny. So we've talked
about the first Two films we're talking about
this one and people are gonna be like and I'm
gonna remind people every episode We are doing
this in story order Tokyo drift fits in order
in a different place So this is a direct sequel
to the fast and furious and Too Fast Too Furious.
So these events that happen now in this movie
happen after the fact of the end of Too Fast
Too Furious. And it's funny because I remember
all three of these films, like I've watched these
over and over again over the last 25 years, and
I have never... Haven't gone back to these in
forever. I watched these films when they came
out I watched them maybe once or twice when they
hit DVD or whatever when they came out on on
physical media back in the day But I watched
this movie and I remember every scene from this
yeah, it's kind of like Watch one you watch them
all Remember in the last podcast that we were
talking about was One of the things that really
disappointed me about the movies as we went further
on into the saga, they, you know, the CGI or
whatever you want to call it, just the stunts
and everything were just so unrealistic. Like,
you know, the very beginning of this movie, was
it a cool play out? It was. I loved it. But is
that really, you know, something that could happen?
No, not really not not in my eyes, I mean to
me things that It was just it's like they were
reaching but you know, hey, it's just a movie,
right? Yeah, it's just a movie. We know it's
fiction folks, but we can still analyze it That's
the whole point of doing podcast is to look at
it Analytically, even though we still had fun
we can still and the thing is That whole beginning
scene with them stealing the liquid gold as let
he put it. Oh I love when she said that I love
when she said that this is hilarious That's awesome.
But when they do the the 360 turn around and
they put the hitches on To get the tankers you
can do that on the wide road But when that road
goes narrower and narrower it becomes less believable
Well, you can do that with a car, but you know,
we're talking about Trucks with flatbeds and
their Dooley's and you're not gonna get one of
those to do all that But hey, they're car boo
-boos and they can make anything happen. So yeah,
absolutely. It's a good scene though. It's a
fun scene. Yeah, it's a My favorite car ever
so it's the Grand National Dom's car wasn't Has
been that has always been my favorite car since
I was 16 years old when they came out with it
And that's still the one car I've not been able
to get so when that movie started I immediately
thought okay. This is the best movie period Yeah,
this movie is so good this this is It just had
a lot of different versions and and not even
10 minutes into it, you know, you're breaking
hearts and just breaking teams, you know, I mean,
all of a sudden, Dom takes off and and then Letty,
you know, as we get more into this podcast, of
course, you know, things will happen. But not
only that, but then you got, you know, kind of
where maybe Tokyo Drift came into play. Yeah,
you got the kind of the Easter egg of that where
you break off into that It's just this is all
before 20 minutes of the film. Yeah, that's what's
really great about it. Yeah This is a this is
a movie folks from 2009 2009 this is a movie
from 14 years ago Yeah, just think about that
alone. No. No. Yeah. Yeah, but like seriously
this is a movie that is Movies today don't get
made like this movie was made yet. No, I'm sorry.
This is a movie from 16 years ago So here's the
thing This movie has everything this movie has
racing this movie has car crashes this movie
has heists This movie has a story that is actually
told well This movie has characters this movie
has multiple characters with multiple stories
that are told Well, the story is balanced not
only that but that story splits off into You
know It splits off into like four different ways
and it doesn't move the audience no which A lot
of films try and that's the first thing that
happens is half the audience is like, I don't
get it. What, or what happened to this and what,
you know, they do it perfectly as in not only
did they break it off into all these different
parts, but everybody kept up with each story
and totally understood what was going on. Yeah,
absolutely. Yeah. And It's so good. It really,
really is. It's just one of those movies that
just works. What is so great about this movie
is you have the return of composer Brian Tyler
for the music. Now, I noticed scores a lot. I'm
a music person. I noticed the instrumentals a
lot. And ever since, the first film. The Fast
and the Furious from 2001 is when I was first
introduced to Brian Tyler and I have been following
that man, not literally, but I've been following
his career and his work for 25 years, or almost
25 years, because of The Fast and the Furious
and every time a score from this saga is released
I immediately go listen to it because I want
to hear what he does with the music and just
man so this was released let's see March 12 2009
was the Gibson amphitheater debut and then the
wide release was April 3rd of 2009 running time
of 107 minutes, so it's just shy of two hours.
It had a budget of $85 million. They made this
movie on $85 million in 2009. Which is not that
much in the movie world. Nope. Just think about
how much it cost to make Titanic. Yeah. So $85
million budget. The box office for this film.
three hundred and sixty point four million dollars
So it more than made its money back profit boys
That's right and a good start to the next movie.
Yeah. Oh, absolutely. I always wonder How long
of a break did they take between each one? Did
they just jump right back into it? Or did they
actually give the actors and the stage crew and
everybody like a little bit of a break before
they jump? Right into the next So, let me look
I'm trying to think here off top of my head.
All right, so Fast and furious was 2001 too fast
was 2003 Tokyo drift was 2006 this was 2009 fast
five was 2011 So it's about a two or three year
Break it's kind of like how albums used to be
and I know you're gonna Rule your eyes when I
say I haven't even said a thing don't start you're
you're gonna roll your eyes when I say this but
you know the One of my favorite rock bands in
the world Let me guess before you even do that.
Uh -huh. Let me see how well I know I get a couple
first of all Let's just try sevenfold No, I don't
mean you mean seven dust no, no, no, no Okay,
obviously that's not it. So how about Nickelback?
Yep. There you go Yeah, so from that seven fold
or seven Avenged sevenfold is what you're talking
about. No, no, no, they're okay Avenged sevenfold
is okay, but it was seven dust creed nickel back
saliva and a bunch of others But yeah nickel
back. So basically yeah, so before we get up
on a whole Yeah, no, no, it's fine. It's fine.
So nickel back in 1998. They released the state
in 2001 they released silverside up So that's
like a two or so, you know and in 2003 they released
the long road So it's like a two or three year
cycle because they have to go on tour to promote
each album movies are movies used to be Kind
of the same way where if you have a frankly you
look at the Batman franchise You had Batman in
1989. You had Batman returns in 1992 You had
Batman forever in 1995 Batman and Robin in 1997
So you had a three -year gap between Batman Returns
and Batman Forever and a two -year gap between
Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. Same thing
with this. It's like a two or three year gap
between each film's release. Well, maybe that's
why. They were just so well planned, and it's
as if they couldn't have took the time because
it was perfect how one rolled into the other.
Like I said, I mean, With Tokyo's group. I mean
you already knew it was coming before During
the first 20 minutes of that film. Yep. So yeah
anyway, yeah, absolutely. But yeah, I mean and
I I had almost forgot that the The truck seat
that the liquid gold that the the the the oil
or the whatever I almost forgot that that was
this opening to this movie. I remember the scene
I just forgot it was fast for that It was this
movie that that that happened in and I love how
they play with Brian and Dom How they each find
out about David Park? separately in different
ways, but they end up Going to get the guy That
was hilarious within You know, maybe what 10
minutes of each other arrived. Yep Absolutely.
Dom gets there first Nearly throws the guy out
the window and then Brian's running up the stairs.
Okay, so I did find this so Dom Vin Diesel He
originally wanted to make the fourth and fifth
films back -to -back. Yeah, the virtual decided
to take some time to see The fourth movie would
work out before movie. Yeah, this one. So there's
kind of our answer right there. So they did Want
to shoot it back to back which is what it feels
like because it was so insane. Oh Yeah, four
or five and said this movie the fifth movie in
the sixth movie Hell I'll say this four five
six and seven all feel like they are just solidly
One long marathon. Yeah. Yeah, it's like they're
made together Yeah, absolutely and that's good
granted. This is kind of the start of switching
from These movies being street racing to being
heist films They fully switch over to being heist
films in the next one with fast five But I don't
have a problem with that. It adds to it adds
to the story and they do Great stories in these
movies. Everyone always says about this franchise.
Oh, it's just cars. It's just racing It's just
stealing they say all these little piddly, you
know things about how it's just this one thing
It's not just that one thing or they'll say they'll
make fun of it by saying oh It's just family.
They'll just make fun of Dom. I think they would
say it's a gas film before anything Uh -huh.
Yeah But I don't believe that no, I don't believe
it either It's a film for anyone who likes these
types of action. It's an action film. It's an
action film It's a film with a ton of heart.
I brought nearly broke down between is every
Every genre of movie goers. Yep East in my mind
it does there's not one genre out there They
could say oh, I'm not interested in seeing this
I mean, you got a guy in Dominic Toretto who
doesn't want to have his girl hurt. And he basically
thinks he has to leave so she doesn't get hurt.
He wants to keep her safe. Right. So, you know,
like, um, that's the noble thing. Not unbelievable.
No, no, no, not at all. But the point, the point
is, is that, and the sad thing is she's keeping
secrets from him. Oh my God. I forgot about the
fight. I completely forgot. Even though I remembered
this movie, I completely forgot about when he
picks up the phone and he presses the button.
Oh God, that fight, the two of them, man. Oh,
Brian and Dom and Brian. Well, that's when he
got reinstated on. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well,
that's the that's the key here with this movie
is that Brian is back with the FBI actually he's
with the FBI now He's not with LAPD. He's with
the FBI Yeah, you got a promotion. Yeah, you
got a promotion. I mean I miss Bilkins I like
the guy that is in charge of him now, but I do
miss Bilkins. I wish you would come back I miss
that guy. Yeah, but how awesome was when the
one guy who actually has gotten more for film
time than I ever expected. You know, the side
partner, well, not really a side partner, but
he's managed to be in what I feel like is every
one of the movies or, you know, yeah, every one
of them. But, you know, he goes to pick up Mia
and bring her in for questioning. And that's
from Brian Caesar. But when he tried to get all,
you know, buck up to Brian, it's like, you know.
Don't you ever pop I mean straight into the wall
and just That set The rest of the movie is at
least on that side. You knew what was going down.
So, oh, yeah Yeah, not only was he gonna be a
big part of the the bad boy side the race. Yeah
but he was like King ding -a -ling and yep. Yeah,
so he could do no wrong. Yeah the I'm trying
to find the stop you talk about Stasiak Yeah,
yeah guy that got his nose broke. Yeah, right
Yeah, that guy's part of the film man. I could
watch that over and over. Yeah Absolutely. Yeah,
man. Just a great so much fun. I almost didn't
like I literally I wrote two notes I have two
but I have three I have two notes for this entire
movie. I already mentioned about I forgot about
the liquid gold was the opening and then the
other note was the reverse of what what Dom said
to Brian Where Brian said he obviously saying
to himself, but during the race too early Dom
When he hits the nitrous, yeah Dom hits it too
early and then Brian hits it and like back to
the first movie like oh he learned Brian's cat
man Brian's character got so much development
in this Yes, that's what I love about franchises
like this you that was great when that happened
yeah, absolutely you start off with something
that just Like you don't we didn't know like
literally you can watch that first movie and
it could just be one movie That the fast and
the furious from 2001. I remember When I watched
that, I figured, oh, this is going to, because
literally, we just came off of Gone In 60 Seconds
the year before. Gone In 60 Seconds didn't get
a sequel. Gone In 60 Seconds didn't get a franchise,
which is fine. I'm not complaining about that,
I'm just stating facts, because Gone In 60 Seconds
is a perfectly good beginning, middle, and end
film. It's okay. Can you imagine if it did, though?
Yeah, I know, I know. But the thing of it is,
is my biggest thing over the last, I would say,
five years, thing I've always said on podcasts,
while it's great that we have stuff like the
Marvel Cinematic Universe or Lord of the Rings
or Harry Potter or whatever, insert Cinematic
Universe here, I miss the single film. where
there's just one you want more at the end but
you're not really expect I miss that expectation
of will we get another one I miss that surprise
of hey remember this movie from this year and
then three years later we get a sequel so the
fast and the furious from 2001 that movie could
have just been one movie I'm glad it wasn't Because
you know, we're doing this 11 episode arc here
because we have this entire franchise But my
point is the character that Brian was in that
movie Going to too fast too furious and then
coming here to fast. I'm just gonna call it fast
for its growth He is growing. He is learning.
He would have never Yelled at Dom in that fight
about the phone about Letty about Letty going
to him to help save Dom. That fight in the apartment
when Dom finds that in her box of whatever after
she died, that fight would have never happened
in the first movie. If Brian didn't grow a spine,
if Brian's character didn't have character growth,
that would have never happened. And that's what
makes this so fun. That's what makes this so
goddamn good. Yeah, there's just no denying that
part No And I understand if these films aren't
for some people or if they're not but they're
for us because we love it'd be a very small crowd
Yeah But you know, I want to go back to you were
talking about David Park How they arrived at
the same time? Yeah, little tidbit here, you
know Since you know all the facts about the movie
and all the important things. I always try to
find tidbits on, you know, what I think would
be cool to let the audience know. Uh -huh. But
David Park was played by Ron Dillon? Dillon?
Uh -huh. I can't pronounce it, but it's Y -U
-A -N. Ron Yun, yep. Okay. Go ahead. Yep. That
his character is who played David Park now Ron
himself suffers from vertigo. Oh, okay and It
was about where sunset time when that scene was
going on Yeah, and he wanted to close it out.
Plus he wanted to get more into the movie. So
he told the directors Y 'all are just gonna hang
me from the window so There was no stunt involved.
He did that himself. And the fact that he suffers
with vertigo, that's why he looked so frightened
because that was a natural reaction. Yeah, exactly.
Um, and Justin limb was like, he didn't want
any part of it first, but then he's like, let's
just try it once and see, cause we got to get
this done before, but we still had, you know,
daylight hours and boom. The one take and they
hit it off. I mean it just and he did look Totally
freaked out. Yeah little things like that man.
It's just interesting Yeah, absolutely Speaking
of Justin Lin this guy as a director He directed
Annapolis in 2006. Oh, I love that movie He directed
Tokyo Drift Okay, let's talk about a one and
done, huh? Yeah. Yeah We could probably do that
one at one at some point. Oh, wow I'd have to
really catch up on that, but I just remember
that is one that kept me in my seat man That
movie is good Wow, that Cast is stacked. Yeah
James James Franco Tyrese Gibson Jordana Brewster.
So it's got It's got fast people in it. Donnie
Wahlberg. It's got a new kid. There you go. Chy
McBride. Wow. Holy crap. He couldn't have gotten
any better. He also directed Fast Five, Six.
He directed Star Trek Beyond. He directed Fast
Nine. And then upcoming this year He in post
-production I film called last days American
biographical drama film directed by Justin Lin
and written by Ben Ripley is based on the article
the last days of John Allen chow By Alex Perry,
so but I like his directing style. I like I like
Justin Lin stuff I mean, obviously, I mean most
of the stuff that he's done is fast stuff But
and my buddy Steve and I are gonna be doing a
whole Star Trek podcast So we will get to Star
Trek Beyond at some point in the future. But
no man, I like his style. I like the way that
That that he works and this movie went with fast
for it It has everything What did you think of
the tunnel scenes And again another one of those
Scenarios that just almost impossible to do Not
realistic at all even the way it was shot for
me at least personally I Kind of sat in there
thought no way, you know Nobody has a reaction
time like that in this I Mean but it fits a move,
you know for what? They did a hell of a job with
the movie, but that's exactly what I'm trying
to tell you You just you know CGI the hell of
a tool because they used it and they used it.
Well Yeah, I Like most of that was done in CGI
It might have been I mean it looks how they're
gonna be a tunnel that long Mean shit back then.
I mean mom must was not there with the boring
company I like the idea of there being Oh God,
I do not want to get into politics and things
but I like I like the idea of there being a set
of underground tunnels Between the border of
the United States and Mexico But not that side
not that size obviously not not to fit, you know
sports cars and a man dude this movie American
you talk about American muscle like too fast
too furious was all the tuner cars and all the
all the Modifications this movie had all your
muscle in it Yeah. Well, but it was still muscle
versus right. True. Very true. But I mean, you
know, man, I, yeah, this is, well, I don't know.
That is one part where I got lost. I mean, like
who was brago? Was it the little short dude with
the buzz cut swinging the golf club upstairs?
Yep. The other guy who drove the Grand Torino
that supposedly killed Letty, okay Yeah, that
car right there. It was like, oh man. What an
awesome car Cobra Jet Torino. I mean Who would
have thought to put that car in there, you know
that particular one? Yeah, just you know things
of that It's stuff like that for the real car
guys like wow, you know, I did not see that coming.
Yeah, absolutely Again, the attention to detail,
the way that the story is told, the way that
at the meetup, you could see it a mile away.
Hell, I saw, as soon as I saw Campos, I was like...
You know, let's braga right there. It's that
guy like we all know it's that guy like although
I did get a little confused about the guy who
drove the Torino the green Torino for a minute
there I thought yeah, you thought Phoenix was
braga. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah Yeah, it's the
way he talks. It's the way he acts. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah That's the great part about that movie was
It's like you knew but you weren't for sure it
kept you guessing that's what kept you on the
seat for Three -fourths of the movie at least
for me. It's yeah Third or you know in the third
person. Mm -hmm. Yep Absolutely. Absolutely.
Was there any scene that you didn't particularly
like? No, I mean I liked it all you know my big
issue with these films Take that away and I love
everything. I just don't like how they made some
of, but I love the theory behind it. You know,
so that's what I meant by, you know, horrible.
Whatever you want to say about that. It's like,
Oh, come on guys. You were doing so good with
the stuff that you pulled off in the first movie,
but now. You're getting way carried away like
too much and But that's not to say that they
were cool as hell Yeah, so it's like a I don't
know a win -lose situation So even the worst
part that I hate about the movie, I still loved
it. Yeah, that makes sense Yeah, absolutely And
the other introduction here is, Hannah is here,
but the introduction here is Gal Gadot, or Gal
Gadot, as Gisele. So Gisele gets introduced in
this movie. She was a big part of the series,
actually. Oh yeah, she becomes a big part of
the series. But she gets introduced here and
they try to make her a love interest for Dom.
It did a little bit. Yeah. Well, yeah, I mean
they that's why I said they tried to and it kind
of worked Yeah, I think they wanted to pull The
the fact that okay. Letty is gone because now
Dom's with her. Yep Yeah, you know, I think that's
what the attempt was right. It sure got me Yeah,
it's like I can't believe they actually killed
her off like that But and then I thought you
know if they keep killing off Remember we're
gonna have left You know bring in new people
and the funny thing is they did they did Yeah,
no. Well, the funny thing is when I watched this
I'm like, wait a minute I swear there was an
after credit scene there isn't but I swear there
was because I swear somewhere In this, we know
in this franchise that Letty does come back,
but I swear it was at the end of this one, or
maybe it's somewhere in Fast Five, or something.
Where there's a scene where they explain that
she's actually alive and she's working I think
she was working for Hobbs I swear I saw something
somewhere and it wasn't it wasn't a short film.
It wasn't anything special separate It was in
one of the films where they went She was actually
working for braga. No, no, no, I know I know
she was working for braga, but I'm saying like
when she when They kill her It's a fake dead.
They they faked her death is is my point and
she comes back because they have to bring her
back because Don can't survive that was Doug
Doug was head member. Yeah But he said when Douglas
was introduced into it, he said something like,
we, you see what we want you to see. Yeah. He
was the one who was actually in charge of. It's
like he was putting somebody undercover without
even knowing it. Right. Right. Okay. When you
bring. Yeah. When you bring Statham and all of
them. you know yeah but i swear no i i swear
there was a part where she because we know she
comes back because i remember uh her and uh little
miss hotsy totsy ama fighter ronda rousey fighting
her in furious seven Oh, so that that on its
own. I can't wait. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I know I
know You brought it up. I didn't start nothing.
I don't know what you're talking about. Yeah
It was it was definitely Kurt Douglas who you
know Kurt Russ Yeah, you know, then he of course
he's the boss of you know Hobbs and then of course
you got that breakaway part right there with
Hobbs and Oh would it yeah, but yeah, you know
speaking of which I mean You ever known a movie
to have a spin -off of its own and be successful.
I Don't remember anybody being able to pull that
kind of shit off ever this franchise prints money
Yeah this I've never known anybody to be able
to Mean it don't work anywhere. The only place
it works sometimes is in TV for instance Sheldon
Young Sheldon. Yeah, but we're talking about
a major motion picture. It's never Never been
done like that before and not only is it successful
It's big -time successful where it could have
went on and on and on Mm -hmm, and you get to
here. I just think They you know, I Believe that
the the audience would be able to keep up but
I don't think Universal Was willing to put that
much man time into it. I don't know but yeah,
I'm just amazed by the cast Hey, you know that
was able to do all that. That's what you call.
So a key Yeah, absolutely. So this franchise
is blockbuster This franchise is Everybody plays
Like doesn't matter who it is. They can get it
like they've had like like you said between Kurt
Russell and All these other stars The Rock eventually
will come in obviously he'll come in in fast
five, you know, you got Statham coming in so
between Hobbs and Shaw you got Charlie's they're
always there. Yes. Yeah, sure. Yeah Charlize
Theron. Oh Yeah, absolutely he and you've had
so many others that have already come through
you've had You've had Ludacris, you've had Ja
Rule, you've had all these other people that
have already come through this franchise, and
you have the staples. You have the main stage.
You have Brian, you have Paul Walker, up until
at least Furious 7, may the man rest in peace.
You have Dom, you have Vin, because Vin is the
franchise. I mean, it's his. Mean people will
say oh, but the rock came in and stole it from
no, we fucking didn't shut the fuck up I wouldn't
get anything from them. Yeah Rock is no different
than Cena coming into it, you know Yeah, no,
absolutely and that added some again. They always
add something to the story Never expected to
have Dom and Mia to have a long -lost brother
named Jacob played by Mr. F you yeah, that's
another amazing thing is how they can do that
I mean and it wasn't like oh, that's not possible
It was very believable. So the end of this film,
Brian resigns from the FBI and Don boards a prison
bus that will transport him to Lompoc. As the
bus drives down the road, Brian, Mia, Leo and
Santos arrive in their cars to intercept it.
Dun, dun, dun, to be continued in Fast Five,
which is where I pretty much remember without
looking at any videos. That's where Fast Five
picks up is the the prison bus breakout of Dominic
Toretto in Fast Five. And that's where we will
continue it in the next episode of Studio 2009.
Any final thoughts? Anything else you'd like
to say about the fourth movie, sir? Yeah, again,
the introduction of new people and. You know
just some of the Easter eggs that were done in
this film that was cool in itself But I'm never
good at Easter eggs, so I won't usually pick
them up until after I've watched it 15 times
Yeah, but I Don't think You know you want to
put this in all -around movie, and I don't I
don't think there was you know Right turn Clyde
moment at all. I mean It was brilliant You start
to finish as if like We never got to leave the
movie theater, you know Yeah, this was one of
those movies where you sit down you shut up and
you enjoy it, right? You can't go to the bathroom
or go don't pop because you'll miss a ton just
Yeah, no Especially with the lines at theaters
for popcorn and drinks and uh -uh if you want
to get the popcorn and stuff before you go into
the movie sure fine But you really don't want
to get a drink for this film because you don't
want to have to go to the bathroom And miss any
part of this movie, right? So good. It's one
of those type films like you blink to me times
and you just wasted the best part of the movie
So Yes, the couple of questions that we usually
ask around here did the film keep your interest
throughout obviously Are we itching to watch
the next one? Yep Obviously, that's what's so
great about this one. Yeah, it's like I said
Thank you like yeah. I can't wait for the next
one Just almost as if like it was a drug, you
know, you just He didn't want to come off of
that buzz that high because it was just great.
Not that I would know anything about that, but
that feeling though, you know, that's how good
it was. He's got those plants in his garage,
folks. No, I had this weird person in my garage.
Yeah, that too. I was sleeping next to the plants.
Yeah, that's what your problem was. Like a champ
though when I'd like a room up it was that's
right Yeah, right in there like a pro while we
were playing games and just that's right That's
right, but I remember you would complain like
Sometimes I would come if a little bit affected
you and maybe calm down a little bit because
I know we There'd be some times that we really
got into the game. So, you know, like it was
an extra than what we've done before. So I think
a little bit of creeped in. Yeah, maybe you just
didn't know. No, but it was like that. That's
what the film was like. Mm -hmm. Absolutely.
Would you recommend this film to people? Absolutely
100 % Zero to five with half points. What are
we gonna give this one? I I Don't want to be
biased and I don't want to be I don't know I
really enjoyed this watch watching this again
because it is a really good film Usually I can
look at films like this and oh I I can see that
coming a mile away. I can see that coming a mile
away I just enjoyed it and I want to give this
franchise You know certain films, you know a
way to grow or whatever But honestly, I guess
I'm just gonna be biased and say it's a five
because it really is it was so enjoyable this
watch I'm gonna disagree with you on that. I'm
higher but you know, I do want to ask you this
like you're usually the one who asked the question,
but It'd be anything to know your opinion. Like
what was your favorite part in that movie like
of the whole movie? What was the one that just?
Got you for those famous laughs that you do.
It's For this movie or was there even one of
those? I mean it was it's more of the Emotional
moments. It's more. It's more of finding that
Brian is finally Grown a backbone. I mean he
always had one but he'd like that fight like
I mentioned like When he finally stands up to
Dom You know when he tells Dom what let he was
doing And he she was trying to save him and and
and that so that scene in in the apartment is
probably my favorite part in this As far as emotional
moments as far as karma as far as like stunt
moments Hey, I did not see that coming Hmm Which
is fine, I mean, yeah, I agree with you but And
I didn't see that it's not what I saw but Yeah,
yeah, I mean it's just like like you want to
see that character I mean character went from
I I like the tuna here like, you know I mean,
you know what I mean? He went from that to what
he is now in this movie like again his character
growth because Technically we're so even though
even though we follow Dom throughout this and
we follow Mia, Brian is the protagonist. Brian
has been the protagonist from day one from movie
one. He's been the follow character. There are
other characters we can follow along with, like
with Han and Giselle and all that and Ludacris
and Roman. I figured you were different, you
know. Not that that's a bad deal at all. What
scene did you think I was going to talk about?
I don't know, but it definitely was not that.
I thought maybe you would, maybe one of the stunt
scenes, maybe, you know, how Frago, I don't know.
I mean, I love the tunnel scene. The tunnel scene
is great. The tunnel scene is awesome, but Again,
I what I am looking for from this franchise what
I pay attention to the most is The story of the
characters because that's what makes this franchise
great is the story Dealing with the characters
and the emotional moments the cars are great
the stunts the stunts are great. They're all
awesome I love the opening you to have a favorite
part about the car Anybody who knows you totally
understand that. No, no, no. Look. I'm not as
big of a car guy as you are, but I am still a
car guy. My dad was my dad's been a mechanic
since he was 14 my dad In the in the middle of
this recording session I don't know when this
one will go up, but it might be before or after
my dad's birthday is march 7 2025 He will be
70 years old. The dude started being a mechanic
when he was 14 He has been working his ass off
his entire life as a mechanic He is a car guy.
He loves all that stuff. I remember my dad had
a gold trans a gold 1966 or seven trans am like
Trust me. I I like the car stuff. I do it's just
for me with this franchise I attach more to The
emotional stuff that I do the car stuff. I still
love the car stuff That train scene that's coming
up in the in the next movie in the beginning.
Holy crap. That's amazing Yeah, I have no idea.
We found that love Really? Yeah, they they they
I'm not trying to jump too far ahead. I know
Well, it's the next no, it's good that you answered
that way. I mean, that's the whole point of what
we do this for so You know and there might be
You know Say 60 % of your audience that agree
with you, you know Those are things we don't
know that's why I I asked and I found it in So
that's all not it Yeah, absolutely. All right

gonna hear some podcast ads and some of the stuff
