STUDIO 2009
Andor Season 2 Episodes 7-9 Discussion

About this Episode
This is Craig Miller, Director of Star Wars Fan
Relations, and you are inside the 12 months of
Star Wars, only on Studio 2009. What's wrong
with your podcast player? Do not attempt to adjust
the volume. Hello and welcome back into our studio.
You are now Inside Studio 2009, only on the GeekCast
Radio Network. I'm of course, Steve, Joe, and
Mike. Joining me once again, as always, Mr. Dave
Draper. Hi, Dave. How are you? I'm well. I have
friends everywhere. Yes, we have friends everywhere.
That's right. That was cool. Yeah, absolutely.
Not me doing it, but it was cool in the show.
Yeah, so cool. Today we head once again to a
galaxy far far away. That's right We continue
the 12 months of Star Wars spotlight as we make
our way back to bby 2 for and or season 2 this
is part 3 We are going to be covering episodes
7 through 9 of season 2 of and or now I compare
these to sequel trilogy I will punch you in the
nose Who comes to where you are and... As long
as we go to Steak and Shake after. Since then
it must be right. That's right. We're midwesterners,
dude. Like, do you ever see Ebert on David Letterman
in this whole conversation about Steak and Shake?
Yep. Yeah, no, this is way better. There is no
Force Awakens here. But I finally get it every
Every section it took me a while Every section
is a year leading up to What we eventually get
to rogue one. Yeah to Star Wars. So three. I'll
be oven Yep, three to be why? Yeah, a bby. Yep.
Yep, so Was this... So, how are we doing this?
The last three episodes are good, but this is
the harder thing. This is when shit gets real.
Yeah, this is when shit gets real. And this is
the best three episodes of this season. Yes.
And by the way, the entire season... Some people
gripe about the first three, but this entire
season is super strong. This is the empire of
the original trilogy. Oh, absolutely. Absolutely,
it is. Yeah. As I was watching this episode,
episode seven, Messenger, I was like, huh. Why
couldn't you have that hotel suite, Disney? Like
that hotel suite that he goes into, the room
he goes in. Yeah, I was like, hey, that's a that's
a nice hotel. Oh, my God. Look at that window.
Are you talking about the Galactic Star Cruiser?
Yeah, yeah, I mean the whole the whole thing
was even though these people run Like but this
is part. I don't know if you ever watched the
Jenny Nicholson You should probably do an episode
in the Jenny Nicholson talking about the Galactic
Star Cruiser Hotel Okay, it's like a four -hour
video on YouTube. It's amazing Cuz she was a
fangirl, but she did this thing and she just
she just slaughtered them Like a lamb to slaughter
and one thing she points out that Disney actually
operates cruise lines That like a suite a suite
at the comparable price on an actual cruise ship
Yeah bigger than the imaginary suite on the galactic
star cruiser Much bigger They're tiny they were
They screwed up everything about that, but yes,
but but I was gonna say that yeah I mean the
galactic star cruiser was supposed to be a cabin
on a starship Yeah, it would be a little less
smaller and and then I want to say a little less
scenic, but like you could... The window could
be a projection. You could be looking at like,
there's beautiful crap in space. You know? You
could be looking at nebulas, planets. Like you
could do the whole opening to any random Star
Trek show. Gorgeous stuff out there. Comets flying
by, but it was just twinkly stars. Twinkly stars,
yep. Everything about that hotel... could be
summed up as it was cheap except for the actual
like price. Yeah. Cheap. I'll still get a link
man. I mean it's a couple years old now. But
like it's long but it's in depth and I think
she edited there was one part that like blew
my mind and I think she edited that out because
she knew she was wrong where she thought there
were no fire exits in the hotel. Oh no. Which
blew my mind but it turns out there were. Yeah.
I didn't know that. They were in the closet.
There was a special closet you couldn't put your
stuff in. And it was supposed to be like she
thought that you're supposed to hide in there
if there was a fire And I'm like, oh my god But
the exit was in the back of the closet. Oh, okay
got yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's kind of like Kind
of like when the turtles got out of the the antique
store But there's like literally a door that's
hidden because they don't want to break the theme
Yeah, they do have a sign up in the closet saying
don't put anything in here Yeah, like like like
we're going from the zenith of Disney Star Wars
to the Death of Disney Star Wars talking about
the hotel Yeah, the sequence with the hotel was
cool. The kid who who camera? What is the name
of that occupation that the kid had? Young man
who shows him the room and tells him about the
Tarkin massacre Which was the original Gorman
massacre like if you the bellhop mentioned this
bellhop bellhop That's the word I can come up
with. I never go anywhere, I never go anywhere.
But yeah, if you actually have a copy, you know,
if you pick up your copy, sir, of the West End
Games' Star Wars role -playing game Rebel Alliance
source book, you will find a reference to the
Gorman Massacre, which talks about Tarkin landing
his spaceship on the Gormans. Back then, that
was what motivated Mon Mothma to quit the Senate
and join the Rebellion, but it's also like 15
years ago. 15 years BBY, so the timing doesn't
line up with the modern version. And then they
change that for Rebels, where she does pretty
much one BBY. The cool thing about Andor is it
takes both of those and it makes both of them
canon, it makes both of them fit. I love that
they took this piece of trivia and this piece
of trivia and made them both fit, even though
they're contradictory. There were two Gorman
there was there was the Tarkin incident and the
Gorman massacre That's cool. Yes. Yeah, that's
very cool day. Yeah, I like when they So we have
was 50 Oh God, what are we at now? Not quite
it we're at 48 years 48 years of continuity for
Star Wars 48 years sort of and we have we have
we have flushed two different Expanded universes
out in this place Yes, that's it was the 390s
expanded universe which like before for Dark
Empire and before the Thrawn trilogy That all
got flushed and then there is everything up to
Disney and that got flushed. Yeah But we have
48 years since the original film. Yes, this is
the original Star Wars. There's 48 years of stuff
you can draw on. Yeah, yeah, there's 48 years
of stuff you can draw on if you wanted to streamline
it and make it actually line up with the continuity
of events so it makes sense. At this point, that's
impossible. Okay, yeah, I understand that, but
I don't mind them doing certain things is my
point to align the... But I think at this point,
you've got to view the Disney continuity as its
own thing that you can take pieces from the original.
Like, you can make the new stuff fit within the
new framework. You can make some of the old stuff
fit within the new framework. I mean, there's
just all kinds of fun stuff. Like, there's a
mean out now, which makes me happy because people,
I thought people forgot this, which is that after
Phantom Menace, there's a comic book about Kai
Adimundi, who's the Conehead Jedi. There's a
comic book about him and his three wives and
his four children, And all those children of
his are just causing him problems. And then Attack
of the Clones comes along. This is between Phantom
Menace and Attack of the Clones. Right. And it's
like, oh, wait, Jedi can't be married. Whoops.
Whoops. And then they, I love it. Every time
that Lucas would do something that screwed up
their thing, they would do back flips to make
it sit. Yep. Well, his species is endangered
and very rare. So the Jedi made an exception
that let him have all these wives and children,
because it's a cultural thing. Uh -huh. Yeah,
sure it is, George. Okay. No, George shouldn't
do it. Well, you were using your George voice,
so I figured... I was using my nerd voice, which
is maybe a little too close to George's. Yeah.
Yeah, uh, Yoda's voice is green. Yeah, okay.
It was a little too Georgie maybe, but... Yeah,
I was just doing nerd stuff. George has always
said that the Moogles are canon and everything
else is a rumor. George Lucas approved it! George
Lucas approved it! Approved the holiday special
too. You know, hey, look, heaven forbid whatever,
you know, anything happens and... He can't approve
anything anymore. They're just gonna go nuts
and everything's gonna be canon I'm just saying
it's not that he approved it. He cashed a check.
There's a big difference. I know I understand
that but right I'm just saying like George approved
it! It's like, no, he's casting a check. Yeah,
I know. George cast a check, so George technically
doesn't have any say anymore. No, no, I didn't
mean, I meant before, now he's pulled at the
start, now it's Vinny approved it, and like,
I don't think, now it's Kathleen approved it,
I don't think anybody... Kathleen approved it,
so it must be, well, I think there are some people.
I don't know. I see the truth! No. Well, we got
to talk about that you posted that thing about
Tony Gilroy talked about how Yeah, he spent an
obscene amount of money on this show. Yes It's
weird because this is like I have like I am of
two minds But 650 million dollars, I think I'm
both seasons. Yes, and on the one hand That's
ridiculous because there is no like there's very
little payback for this like I I bought my steelbook
copy of season one And if they release season
two, I will absolutely buy it in a heartbeat.
It is one of the only reasons I still subscribe
to Disney Plus, was to get to this moment. There's
another reason now that's kind of beyond my control.
Other people are involved, but if they weren't
involved, I would cancel it in a heartbeat. My
point being that the amount of money they're
getting out of me is not as much as... There's
not the return that you... The whole streaming
system... has revealed its huge flaw, which is
that it's not a functional system for the entire
industry. Movies make money, home video makes
money, selling stuff to like TV rights makes
money, commercials make money, streaming makes
not as much money. Especially if you're spending
movie budgets on TV shows. $650 million for 24
episodes. Now, at the same time, I was gonna
say, at the same time, like, this may be my favorite
TV show of all time, and I love it, and like,
I literally get emotional by the end, because
it's so good. So it's sort of like, I'm being
indulged, and I realize it's bad, but like, for
once in my life, people are giving me what I
want, and it's like, how can I be upset? I feel
bad because I have a lot of people in my life
who are huge Disney fans. Most people in my life
are a huge Disney fan. I give two craps about
Google. Disney Disney. I care because of Star
Wars. I care a little bit because of Marvel.
Less. But I care because of Marvel. Like if Disney
went down in flames, I would not shed a tear.
Yeah, you don't care if the Little Mermaid drowns.
But people get mad at me when I'm saying, like,
aside from Star Wars, I don't care. I have gotten
yelled at for saying that. But honestly, if they
just burdened Disney Plus to give me Andor season
2, I'm not gonna be mad. I got a masterpiece.
I got genius. I got indulged in every way I can
possibly hope to. Yeah, if like that screws over
like whatever nonsense they were gonna do for
Disney Plus down the road like if Disney Plus
crumbles good Too many like they they all jumped
on this model too quick It didn't realize that
it wasn't gonna make it's gonna turn into cable
2 .0 or more tonight That's the thing though
it already is cable 2 .0 you it has been for
the last couple of years, but like when Disney
Plus debuted in 2019, that's when the streaming
wars really ramped up. Because before then, you
had Netflix, you had Hulu, you had a couple other
things that kinda came and went and did other
things with whatever. Like all the, all the,
before it actually went to full streaming, all
of the other, like before Disney bought Fox,
before this, before that, all of those cable
channels had their own platforms. Olive, you
know separate from whatever so you had to That's
why I don't mind the conglomerate. That is Disney.
That's why I don't mind the conglomerate that
is Warner Brothers or ABC or whatever time or
whatever the hell me what? Okay, you know, I
mean, okay, so there's yeah, but we're having
out which has CBS. Yeah I'm totally wrong about
that. My bad. My brain just malfunction paramount
has CBS What doesn't have anybody they have like
the CW? Okay, but my but the point is is that
you've got Disney you've got Universal Universal
NBC Universal NBC you shit And Paramount Warner's
are struggling. Yeah. Yeah Paramount Warner's
are struggling, but you've got Paramount Plus
you get Disney Plus you get Let me just look
at my phone. Well, there was Max when it was
HBO Max. Yeah, it was HBO Max. It was HBO Now,
HBO Max. Now it was Max. Now it's back to HBO
Max, which it still has not switched back to
HBO Max yet. I don't know when it's supposed
to, but all of my apps... Hulu was like a group
effort. Yeah. Hulu was... Well, Hulu was... No,
it was Hulu, wasn't it? Yeah, Hulu... It was
Hulu, and then when Disney bought Fox, that screwed
up the balance. No, when Disney... So Hulu originally
was its own thing, but I think they were under
ABC, because they had most ABC programs, but
they had a lot of other programs too, and then
Disney bought them. So Hulu technically is its
own thing, it's still... What's the one? There
was one that was like a group effort, because
when Disney bought Fox, they had to give Universal...
Because they again they disrupted the balance
they had they had to give universal billions
of dollars The universe is built based on Disney
buying Fox Yeah, that money and said hey, let's
do something cool with our money Yeah, I don't
know it's something but the point There's so
many that you and I can't even keep track of
them exactly but like when we first started let's
say 2009 2010 2011 Mostly the war for streaming
was Netflix and Hulu. Those were the two big
ones. We had other things back then that don't
exist anymore. Nowadays, in 2025, it's Disney
+, Paramount +, Netflix, yada, yada, yada, all
this other stuff. And it's just like cable. It's
no different than cable. You pick and choose
what you want and what you want to pay for. For
me personally, if a certain streaming service
has something that I like something that's already
done something that isn't currently doing new
things like and or or or any of the Disney stuff
like I will pay for Disney Plus annually I pay
one price per year for all of that content great
as long as you don't remove any of the content
that I like sure fine awesome great that's awesome
I can go back and rewatch all the old stuff all
I want because I'm an old man who likes nostalgia
that's awesome And if you give me new stuff,
great, cool, I'll check it out at some point
or another. You know, but here we are with Andor,
season two, episode seven. Okay. One of the things
I like about this episode is it was what you
would call prescient, because Andor has a damaged
shoulder. Yes. And I was like, oh, he has a damaged
shoulder that won't heal. And at the time I was
like, oh, I have a damaged shoulder that won't
heal. Exactly. I wish I had some random lady
who worked in the... kitchens who had force power
and that was kind of cool they talked about force
healers like fate healers in real life and andor
didn't trust them and I have mixed feelings about
that scene but i kind of like it not kind of
like eh it is interesting that this is the first
time we've seen the force in andor yeah talked
about and she mentions his destiny which of course
is to be favorized on scarif But it does set
things into motion for Bix's later actions. She's
more of a believer. And it is interesting. I've
always been annoyed, particularly in everything
non -George Lucas about Star Wars, the way that
they treat the Jedi and the Force. Everybody
hates The Last Jedi, but there's stuff that I
like about it with Luke. He's like, the Force
is not a power that you have. It's not about
lifting rocks. Right the idea like it's one of
the things I love about road one was that cheer
it Believe he wasn't a Jedi, but he believed
in the force and the force had a role for him,
too And I do think everybody is a little not
everybody I do think too many Star Wars fans
are focused on the space wizards and the laser
swords and The force is not about the Jedi Force
is the force the Jedi And I can go into a whole
elaborate thing about my theory about the Force
and the Jedi. Because I mean, the Jedi had to
be wiped out. Why? Lucas has said that Anakin
brought balance to the Force by wiping out the
Jedi and the Sith. Why? How does that bring balance
to the Force? The problem with Lucas is that
this is a good idea. It's interesting. But he
never tells you why the Force wants the Jedi.
He's just like, it's the will of the Force. And
he's got to say it in interviews. He never figured
that out. The narrative never tells you that's
what Anakin is doing. And the narrative tells
that Anakin's a meanie head who kills all the
Jedi, and then at the end becomes a good guy
by killing the Emperor, and then he brings up
this whole thing about the prophecy, but he never
tells you. You literally never hear what the
prophecy even is. Who said it? But I think it's
because the Jedi forgot, because there's one
line of dialogue that Yoda has. I think Attack
of the Clones where, oh these young Jedi these
days, they're blah blah blah, and I think...
I think the Jedi were supposed to serve the Force.
And by the time of the prequels, the Jedi saw
themselves as the masters of the Force, which
is kind of what the Sith were. Like they had
become the Sith, but not as vicious. The Sith
see the Force as a tool. Like Luke said, you
know, it's a tool. It's a power you have. It's
a thing you use for your benefit. And I think
the Jedi are kind of like that. Where they're
supposed to be, they're like Qui -Gon. You're
supposed to listen to the living Force. and do
what it tells you to do. I think we talked about
midichlorians, and how if one guy thought that
they were the drivers, and I think they're more
like the GPS, where the midichlorians say that
you're supposed to do this. You can either do
that or not do that. I think the Jedi had, I
think it's interesting that one of Anakin's obsessions
is being with a master, right? He's angry that
he's not elevated to the title of master. He
says to Obi -Wan, once I was about to learn or
know I am the master and I think the thing is
the point of the force is that you're never the
master of the force. No. That's my pet theory
but it is I can't remember how we got to this
from the lady from the book lady who has force
-healed Cassian. Well because she force -healed
Cassian because she's not a Jedi. My point is
she wasn't a Jedi. Right she's not a Jedi she's
not a Sith Lord she's not a not a not a the point
is is that The force can be used by anybody because
it is not bound to either the Sith or the Jedi.
It is an all -encompassing thing. It's an all
-encompassing thing. It's kind of like a... It's
an energy field created by all living things
because we all have a right to it. Yes, exactly.
And then the funny thing about that, Cetus, and
I'm so stupid for thinking this and... Always
I always I thought of when I saw that and I was
like, oh That's funny in my own head. I equate
that scene To the scene in Armageddon when the
nurse comes out She looks at Will Patton's character
and she's it and she goes he goes It's time to
give its further blood tests or medical tests
when they're going through all that before they
can go drilling in the in the Armageddon movie.
And he goes, oh gee, lady, I just came here to
drill. She holds up this giant ass needle. She
goes, oh, honey, me too. I don't know why. But
when I was watching that scene here in Andor
episodes, I just got a kick out of that. But
yeah, no, the force is for everybody. It's not
for just one or two different sects of people.
Or literally families. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's
the sequel trilogy we'll establish. Yeah, that's
the sequel trilogy. Either Skywalker or Palpatine.
Again, that was one of the things I actually
liked about Last Jedi. Was that way came from
nothing. It was like the line from Ratatouille
Yeah, a great check. Not everybody can be a great
chef, but a great chef can come from anywhere
Yep, I think that was one of the points of the
last Jedi was that a Jedi can come from anywhere?
And of course, why's the Skywalker had to be
no, no, no, no, no, no There's only two bloodlines
the Hatfields McCoys McCoys McCoy at the end
You traitor. Oh, God. Go back and listen to,
I forget what episode number of the podcast it
is, folks, but go back. I'll link them in the
show notes. Go listen to our sequel trilogy episodes.
You'll probably get a kick out of those. The
growing resistance on Gorman, we get Nat. Who
is that character? I swear. Oh, and that's not
how he's... The only name I remember of the one
girl was Enza, I think. Yeah. the daughter of
the guy who is kind of the leader, but nobody
listens to him, which should not have been a
big mistake. I just know there's the old dude,
his daughter, other dude, the young dude, kind
of an angry dude who turns out to kind of be
the guy who almost turns it around, like the
dude with the hat, who ends up like, we're dancing
around, like it's the whole thing where the dangerous
plot to get Gorman into Imperial hands. It's
very interesting. Like, it is weird because,
like, and literally, if I have a criticism asterisk,
it's that Deidre almost seems like a different
character in this arc. Yeah. Where when she's
on Coruscant and she's looking for access, she
is very focused and very imperial oriented. Then
afterwards, she's very focused and she's very
imperial oriented. And this one This particular
arc of this show, I don't know if it's because
she's not doing the things she wants. She seems
to have moral qualms about what's going on. Which
doesn't seem to fit her. No, she's supposed to
be this... I don't want to say cold and calculating,
but she's... She could be cold and calculating.
There are plenty of cold and calculating characters
in this show. Well, I mean, even Clare is kind
of cold and calculating. Good yeah, I'm not I'm
not saying that she's I Think there's a difference
between cold and calculating and being someone
who is hyper focused on doing the right job for
your cause But the way that her personality is
I Think she's at war with herself where She's
trying to be this cold person, and then... Oh
god, I can't believe I'm about to say this. Her
emotions are Kylo Ren. When her emotions come
out... When her emotions come out... I disagree.
Okay, not as bad as him. Not as bad as his are.
Not as - She's so thing is he is completely ruled
by his emotions and she - Right, she's not. She
gets control of them immediately. Yes, she, yes,
she - The kayak flips over and she gets it flipped
over again. Yes, I agree. Rekylo is like drowning.
Right, no, I agree. But I'm saying that when
she lets her emotions out, the way her emotions
are, are similar, like when he's - She tugs on
the uniform! Yes, yes, I know. I mean, Kylo destroyed
equipment. I know, but I'm just saying there's
a couple of moments where I see her emotions
and all I can think of is him destroying that
console. That one moment when he's just, but
she gets it under control. She, she reigns it
back in. She fixes herself, quote unquote fixes
herself. She resets and she figures it out and
all that. It's good character. The difference
is it's good character with her. I don't know
how much good character is in Kylo. I like Kylo
for what he is. I think some of it was he was
supposed to be a commentary on the fanboys. which
always goes over well. I remember when I saw
Force Awakens for the first time, I thought that
was a funny scene, I liked it. I like the idea
that his art of being a Jedi, it is one of the
big differences between being a Jedi and being
a Sith, which he doesn't want to be, but the
Jedi are about control, and the Sith are about
indulgence. Sith are like, do what you want.
And so like having no control over your emotions
would be a very Sith kind of, I mean, intrinsically
kind of a Sith thing. I think it also isn't very
productive and we see in the movies, it doesn't
get him very far. I do think that's one of the
contrasts is indulging yourself versus denial.
Yeah. I love you, buddy, but I can't disagree
more on that one. No, I'm okay. I hear what you're
saying, but like, I'm just saying it doesn't
mean they're like Kylo Ren. No, no, no. But like
just for a second, a split second, I'm not saying
they're like, it might have gone with you a little
bit. Serial goes over the top. Zero zero world
gets destroyed. Yeah, okay. In order and the
empire. We're not even talking about the episode.
That's the second episode too. Who are you? Who
are you? I'll get to it in a minute. What happens
is Willman, the guy who was sniffing Raito with
Thaw, he shows up on Yavin and he goes to Cassian
and he says, Lutheran has told us that Deidre
Mero is on Gorman. This is our chance to take
her out. Even though it's not about revenge,
it's kind of about revenge. It's kind of about
getting revenge for what happened to Bix. Ironically,
even though he's making the argument, I think
feebly, that it's not about that, that there's
a bigger thing involved, it is, but I don't think
he really knows. Obviously, the whole Gorman
thing is to help build the desktop. stopping
that or interfering with that. I think killing
Deidre wouldn't have really done much. If what
happened hadn't happened and Cassian was able
to take out Deidre, I don't think that would
have stopped the Death Star, but I mean it would
have slowed it down like maybe a half a second.
But anyway, it really is about revenge, even
though they try to pretend like it's not. They
take a ship, they take the Ewing, and they go
to Gorman. And Wilman's kind of hooked up with
one of the local girls, the girl who was supposed
to be the driver in the heist, but then she was
undrivered because she was unreliable. Anyway,
so he's hooked up with her, so he's got an emotional
attachment. Cassian checks back into the hotel.
Actually, yeah, and the bellhop is now a clerk.
He recognizes Cassian. There's a great moment
where he recognizes Cassian, and he realizes
they're going to have to report Cassian. He doesn't
have any paperwork. Yeah, so the bellhop bellhop
guy eventually like the next morning tells Cassian
that he didn't register. He makes it clear he
recognizes who he is. He recognizes who he is,
but he didn't do what he was supposed to do.
He was supposed to do so the guys aren't going
to come to Cassian. And anyway, Cassian kind
of realizes that something's going on. It's a
year after his last visit and he realizes everything's
weird and like there's stormtroopers everywhere.
I'm a little paranoid about it. The next day,
the Empire... Oh, this is a great moment. All
the stuff that I love, like this transport comes
in with these new troops. Deidre even says they're
children. There's a great moment where the captain
involved, and she's like, who is this guy? She
says to part of the cast over the radio. One
thing I don't like is they use the word radio.
In Star Wars, it should be a comlink. The nerd
should be a comlinkler. But they do use the word
radio quite often, I noticed. But anyway, this
Imperial Captain has come down to coordinate
the actual incident. And she doesn't want to
get... But he's got this... Because the whole
World War II, French resistance, German analogy
isn't subtle enough, he's got a scar. He's got
a dueling scar. Like any good proper German.
Well, this trip of these kids come in, and the
guy goes, are your men ready? And the sergeant,
who's an older guy, there's a lot of cool guys
with mustaches in this season. He's like, well,
they're not really men, sir, but you know, they're
pretty green, and he's like, are we going to
have a problem? Are we going to have a problem?
The sergeant's like, no, sir. So the troops go
in. That will become important later, but it's
just like, they make a point that these guys
are kids. except for the sergeant. One of the
things I love about Andor are all the competent
people who are caught up. And the sergeant's
one of those competent people who's sort of like
trapped with this captain who literally is, he's
got the scar, he's like, me, Hindu, and you are
on the side. He doesn't do it with the accent,
but he might as well. But anyway, the next day,
weirdly, they barricaded off the plaza where
the memorial to the target incident is. It's
been a big sore spot. They open up the plaza
and everyone's like, the plaza's open, the plaza's
open, let's go have a big protest. So they have
their little space air horns. They're still,
Endor's weird because there's a lot of stuff
that's almost immersion breaking for me in this
season. One of them is space air horns. Another
one is Good Morning Coruscant with a little immersion
breaking. It's just they so like all the people
are like we are the gore we are the gore the
galaxy is watching They all converge into the
plaza And a couple people the old guy who kind
of is like was in charge of the resistance Kind
of recognizes something's off and or recognizes
that something's off But he's still trying to
do his job. He's trying to get down in the plaza
and get his rifle together and get a shot on
Diedre The Gorman all funnel into this plaza.
There's a great moment where Cassian like is
looking around and he kind of feels something's
off. He goes up like the plaza's like almost
like a pit. He goes up the stairs out to leave
the pit, leave the plaza and realizes boy, there's
a lot of Imperial guys on the periphery. I think
he begins to peg what's going on and like the
crowd fills up the plaza and they're getting
rowdy and they're getting angry and You know,
you can just tell that, like, the guy with the
scar is, like, just waiting for, like, he literally
says to V -Drop, um, and the trigger, you are
the finger. You have to make the call. You know,
there's this whole bit with Kyle where Kyle,
or Cyril, Kyle, um, Cyril, where Cyril's whole
obsession is that there's been outside agitators.
His whole thing is he runs into the guy, which
I can remember his name, who's the old guy who,
like, his whole thing is don't go into the plaza,
there's something wrong, don't go into the plaza.
Trying to stop them. His whole thing is about
being peaceful, peaceful resistance. And his
daughter's like, we've been peaceful and everything
has gotten worse. What are we supposed to do?
And that's... I mean, that's the tragedy of it,
is what were they supposed to do? What could
they do? And in the end, it doesn't matter. But
he's definitely trying to get them to not to.
He runs into Cyril and they have a big confrontation.
Because by this point... Even though the trigger
hasn't been pulled yet, the Empire has already
gotten a little eager with this mineral. They're
already deploying their droids and their mining
equipment on other parts of the planet. Reports
are coming in that the Imperial fleet has surrounded
the planet and they're deploying all this gear
into the hinterlands. And the guy's like, confronts
Cyril, he's like, what do we have? What do you
want from us? What are you trying to take from
us? And Ciro's like, that's just rumors. He's
like, are you a fool? Hell, I'm here to, because
there are outside people that are causing all
this. There's outsiders. I think that's very
important to what happens later. It's hardly
what happens later. Because Ciro's obsessed with
the idea that he is there to help the good Gorman
people from being manipulated into being bad.
by outsiders which ironically is what's happening
he just doesn't recognize which outsiders are
doing it because he believes he believes in the
empire he believes the empire is a source of
order and justice and so he he works his way
through the crowd he gets to his job and he wants
to he wants to talk to Deirdre Deirdre's assistant
says no no no you gotta wait in this room he
shoves him off into this room and he goes through
a couple of doors and the room is filled with
like the employees and they're all against the
walls sitting on the couches or whatever in the
middle of the room, all these KX droids. And
it's kind of a cool moment, and nerds have gone
through the video. All the droids are just sitting
there and one looks at Kyle and just keeps staring
at him. And yes kids, that is KSO. A real KSO.
The scuffs and the little markings, the little
that. God bless them. Like, I make fun of them,
but like, I watch the videos where they explain
it. I can't. Yeah, so, and of course Ciro's like,
what are these things doing here? I can't remember
if I said this on another episode or not, but
I'm gonna bring it up again. They are security
droids, because war droids, combat droids, are
illegal. Yep. After the Clone Wars. Yep. So they're
secu - air quotes, security. We'll get to what
they really are in a minute. Spoiler alert, monsters.
Terrifying monsters. But anyway, the crowd's
getting wild and wild. Cassie keeps almost getting
a shot on Deidre, and then she moves, and then
he's like, eh. Willman's trying to find Cassie
in the crowd. And then the guy I mentioned earlier,
the guy with the beard and the hat. Kind of see
that everything's getting a little out of control
people are passing my weapons people are passing
around passing around Molotov cocktails and he
takes off his hat he starts singing the Gorman
national anthem Planetary anthem, I don't know
of the Gorman anthem. Yeah, the the mood of the
protest changes and everyone starts like getting
arm -in -arm No longer about being angry. It's
about being proud and loving where you're from
They start singing and it's very moving. It kind
of reminds me of the scene in Casablanca where
they really have a fight between their national
anthems, between the French national anthem and
the German national anthem at the time. Deutschland,
Deutschland, Überalles. It kind of reminds me.
I kind of think that's deliberate. The whole
World War II thing is very on the nose. And as
everybody's kind of getting together, Ciro sneaks
into Deidre's office and confronts her, and she
goes Kylo Ren on her ass. He grabs her by the
throat and he's like, tell me what's the line
of them? I think Deidre is freaked out because
Ciro has always been very muscle, particularly
to the women in his life. The women in his life
have always been very dominating. Edie and Deidre
both kind of control him. I think he kind of
likes being controlled by them. It's comforting
to him, but like, He realizes that everything
he's kind of been believing in is a lie. And
he's really upset. So she tells him. So kind
of, you know, there's something in the dirt.
I like how she says it. There's a mineral in
the dirt. And we need it for something. And so
he's like, okay, I'm done with you. He walks
out and he leaves. He walks into the crowd. And
this is where everything starts. This is where
shit starts to get amazing. Because they closed
the doors which is a metaphor by which I mean
remember I said the plaza is like in a in a bowl
in a pit Yeah, only so many exits and all of
a sudden see stormtroopers coming coming down
the stairs and like pushing everybody into the
pit and this will make you remember that stormtroopers
are scary as fuck if you don't have the force
on your side you march down the steps and everyone's
like freaking out a little bit but they're still
singing you know a couple a tie fighter will
fly overhead and everybody will freeze for a
minute but they're still singing it's still it's
still kind of peaceful they're getting a little
you know The doors to the trap have closed. And
Captain Scar, your men will clear a path to the
monument. I keep doing a German accent. He doesn't
have a German accent. He doesn't have a monocle
either, but my God, I imagine him with a monocle.
The sergeant guy's like, dude, these guys are
green. This is crazy. Do they have a problem?
He's like, no, sir. And the sergeant gets his
little baby recruits. up in the crowd, pushing
forward, the crowd starts pushing back, we start
getting a little violent, things start getting
a little hairy, and these guys are kids. People
are throwing rocks and fruit at them and they're
like, eh. And I think part of it is, we take
umbrage sometimes to the idea that there are
good people on both sides. I'm not saying these
kids are good, per se, but they're kids. This
might be the only job they can get in the Galactic
Empire. Who knows? They're not the guy with the
scar. They're not enjoying this. They're not
doing it for any sort of like VHQ garments. They
join the Empire because they probably believed
in it. And suddenly they're thrust out into this
terrifying situation. They've got armor. They've
got some weapons. Even the sergeant knows this
is a bad idea. He has to follow orders. And then
the moment comes where Deidre has to eat a finger
and pull the trigger. She says, do it. They signal
a guy, there's an Imperial sniper on one of the
routes. And they see it through the scope. This
is the moment. And he's looking at the crowd.
You can see the crowd in his gun sights. He's
moving it around. He pulls it up. Targets one
of his own, one of the kids, one of the Imperial
troops. A young Imperial trooper that shoots
him in the head. And of course on the ground
they're like, they're shooting at us! Return
fire! And so the Imperials pull out their guns
and start shooting, and then the stormtroopers
start shooting, and everybody's, and then the
Gorman guys have their guns, and they start throwing
firebombs and start shooting, and it becomes
just, you know, even though they have guns, it's
still like stormtroopers, you know, mowing them
down. It's a slaughter. Even though they push
back a little bit, which of course is perfect
from the Imperial point of view. It's a slaughter,
and like, amazingly, Cyril is in the middle of
the blasters or whips it back in his head, and
he just can't believe it. He is, again, he believed
that the Empire was the source of justice and
order. He's looking at the, and he, but at the
same time, he had kind of come to know these
people, the Gormans, as part of a mission. And
he realized there were good people that, there
were good people, and in his opinion, they were
just being manipulated by outsiders, which they
were. But like, and he's just like, he cannot
believe his whole world is gone. He's lost. Meanwhile,
Andor is still trying to get that shot off. Yes
he is. Like, this is the running theme with Cassian
Andor. He's not a very efficient sniper. As we'll
find out in Rogue One, because he almost tries
to kill Galen, he doesn't get the shot. But like,
as the battle's going on for a little bit, the
Empire finally goes, okay, or the Captain goes,
okay, deploy the droids. Yep. And these things
come out of the box. Oh, like the first thing
one does is there's huge massive metal barricades,
like metal, like, like, like, uh, I forgot how
to describe them. The blades of a huge bulldozer
is kind of what they're like. It gives it a kick
and it goes flying across the plaza. Yeah. And
they just. Well, like, like that's how ends of
the girls eyes and she. she's shooting at one
and she falls and it picks her up and just tosses
her across the plaza she goes down crunch and
then like oh my god people have kind of i think
somewhat rightly pointed out in rogue one you
see one of those things get blasted with one
shot from from uh gin it's a funny moment like
she shoots it and it goes down and then kso goes
how did you know that wasn't me she's like uh
Yeah. But anyway, there are theories, there are
attempts at no prizes, which are kind of like,
which is the idea that maybe the blasters that
the Imperials allowed the Gormans to get were
kind of underpowered. Right. But at the same
time, later on Andor shoots a KSO, eventually,
and it doesn't affect him at all. He's got his
Rebellion gun. But anyway, whatever. I mean,
nothing's perfect. Cassian finally has a shot
on Deirdre. But then, Cyril sees him. I said
in the last episode that we recorded that I was
really irritated that Cassian was on Gorman at
the same time that Cyril left Gorman. So I was
like, oh, what would happen if they met each
other? Well... This is what would happen. And
here's my thing. This is why I keep pointing
out the outside agitator thing. the serial sees
Cassian and This is the guy that this is the
guy he's been chasing since the beginning of
season one and at the same time He knows he's
not a Gorman Yeah, so in my opinion part of what
happens is he goes there's the guy Everything
that's wrong with his life everything that's
happening in that Plaza is that guy's fault because
he is an outside agitator I was right all along
And he just goes full, crazy, berserker mode,
tackles Cassian, he tackles them, and he starts,
like they have a brutal fight, and Cyril actually
does a lot better than you would expect him to.
I think part of that is because he catches Cassian
completely by surprise. And then meanwhile, the
bellhop guy has been throwing bombs, which is
causing like chaos, things blowing up all over
the place. But eventually, Cassian gets knocked
down. Cyril gets his gun, points it at him, points
Cassian's own gun at him. Cassian just looks
right at him and goes, who are you? And as I
said earlier, Cyril's world had already been
like, nuked from orbit. But that just, that breaks
him. My whole world, everything that's wrong
in my world revolves around this guy. I have
no idea who I am. Did you see him? He's lowering
the gun, and they get shot in the head. The old
guy the old guy who's the leader of the Gorman
resistance. Yep was but it's just that moment
of And I really think this is a great lesson
for ever like for people you always kind of like
Always remember the people that are bad to you
and they probably won't give you two thoughts
You know, we have a way of focusing on all that
guy. He And then, that guy doesn't remember you
at all. The bully from high school doesn't remember
you at all. I'm not saying that Andrew was a
bully, I'm just saying you're obsessed about
these people and they have no idea who you are.
Yeah, exactly. And it just, I think that's the
last drop. I think even though technically he
gets killed, I think he was broken and destroyed
before that. That, who are you? And it's just
so annoyed. It's like, who are you, man? What
are you doing? And they're like, my whole world
is revolved around you. It's almost a mercy that
he gets shot in the head. Cassian and Wilman
have to escape somehow. People start getting
out of the plaza, but there's that great moment
where they're standing there yelling at each
other, because Wilman wants to go find his girlfriend.
Cassian's like, no, we've got to get to the ship.
We've got to get to the ship now. They're arguing,
and they see people screaming out of this one
exit. And they're like, what's that? And then
they look and this guy goes flying out the exit,
hit the wall, crunch. We need to go. And then
KSO, eventually, comes walking out and he sees
him and he's like stomping towards them and smacking
people left and right. And just an unstoppable
juggernaut. And they're shooting at him with
real imperial, or real rebellion weapons, so.
Flaw and Rogue One, Flaw and Andor, I don't know.
But anyway, he's almost on them and then one
of the other Gorman guys hits him with like a
I don't even know what kind of vehicle it's supposed
to be, but it's big and heavy. It smashes him
against the wall, cuts him in half, and kills
the KX droid. They argue a little bit more, and
Wilman's gonna go find his girlfriend. He's like,
Cassian, you gotta get out of here, you gotta
tell people what happened. Cassian says, okay,
well hang on, help me with one thing. So they
load up the wreckage of the KSO droid into the
truck. Cashin takes the truck out of town. He's
listening to the radio. The local partisan radio
is like, please help us. Why won't anyone help
us? Please help. And of course, it's all being
scrambled or blocked or whatever. That's just
as he's driving away towards the spaceship. He
can't climb because he has seen this horrible
massacre. I can't remember. I can't remember
if that's the end of the episode or if the stuff
with Edie is the beginning of the next episode.
I remember you were like, oh, I hate her. And
I was like, oh, wait for it. When you cut to
back to Coruscant, Edie and some of her friends
are watching the report for the massacre. She's
crying. She must know that Cyril is dead. Her
son has been killed. And she's heartbroken. And
like, OK, I hope Mike got his... I hope Mike's
happy. You know what I mean, you know what I
mean. It's funny because we hate this character
and yet this is what makes this show great. You
see that moment and you're heartbroken for her.
Her son had been murdered. Her son had died.
And even though she was a bitch to him, still
her son. People are complicated. Life is complicated.
Absolutely. I didn't want something to happen
to him. I wanted something to happen to her.
I didn't mean you wanted something to happen
to her. It's something that did happen to her.
Yeah, but no. That's not... No. So plot the role.
I think that's the genius of the show. The funny
thing about season one was rooted for Deidre
until that moment when she torches Dex. Yep.
Because you're like, she's up against this other
guy. in the ISP and he's like competing with
her and you know come on girls gotta make it
you know like let's go girl and then suddenly
realize oh my god she's a fucking monster and
i've been rooting for her like and like an idiot
it's like yeah she's awful and she's just constantly
manipulating i and the thing is i think as annoying
and awful as she is it's always been kind of
weird i think it's been a toxic version of i
want what's best for my son It's always about
him doing better, getting better, trying to improve
himself. It's done in a very toxic and gating
sort of way. I don't think it's helpful, but
it's never been from a point of, I want to knock
you down because I don't like you. It's always
been, I want you to be better. I'm just bad at
how I try to go about doing that. This is the
genius of this show and we've still got one more
episode. It cycles over. It's another good one.
The Gorman Massacre is being flipped. The Galactic
Empire, as opposed to the government, I mean
the people, is being told that those stinking
Gormans... Remember, there's been this whole
PR campaign. The Ministry of Enlightenment has
been working overtime to make people dislike
the Gormans. They're like they're spiders. They're
sneaky little selfish and they're arrogant and
they just think about themselves. and now they've
attacked an imperial outpost in Maryland, or
whatever, and killed imperial citizens. People
from Coruscant have been killed. You know, what
a bunch of bastards. And of course, Mon Mothma
knows the truth. She doesn't know the truth.
She knows something is not right. She knows that
the Gormans aren't like that. There's a scene
where the Gorman senator gets dragged out of
the Senate by storm troopers. And other senators
are like, there are imperial storm troopers in
the Senate. This is unacceptable. I'm like, Spunky,
wait a year. Wait a year. Exactly. Wait one year
and then like, I think you're gonna, yeah. Yeah,
then you're gonna be Imperial citizen rather
than Imperial senator. Exactly. So we - I was
gonna say, we welcome you to the rebellion. And
it's weird, because I know he says that line,
but I missed it. I'm not sure I can do this.
Welcome to the rebellion. What? The second watch
through so mom wants to make a speech and this
is actually there that episode of rebels So part
of it was different though. It's not part of
that speech wants to make a speech condemning
the Gormick massacre But of course, they're never
gonna let her speak And this is where Benjamin
Bratt. I think really steps up. Absolutely. She's
got a plan It doesn't but but also like once
she makes a speech they got to get out of dodge
Oh, yeah, they got they got to leave so he's
like I'm gonna have my guys pick you up We'll
get you that speech, but, you know, we gotta
be ready to go. We gotta be packed. Meanwhile,
Lutheran goes, there's a great scene between
Lutheran and Mom where he's like, you can't trust
bail people. They've been compromised. I'm gonna
send my guy. You trust him. Code word is, I have
friends everywhere. And Mom's like, can I trust
you? What happened to Tay, who's the banker guy
who... got killed at the end of the third episode
like you never see him die but like he's dead
i posted on facebook yeah he got sent upstate
to live on a farm with other bankers where he
can run and play all day um he got killed and
she's like i'm i'm more afraid of you than i
am of them like i i because because i know all
this stuff and if i get arrested you know everything
is screwed like are you gonna are you gonna put
me in a car and take me off to a farm upstate
i'm gonna say that way but you know so there's
this great tension where She trusts bail. She
does not trust. And Lutheran said specifically,
I know this guy. I trust this guy. It's very
important. Because later on, right before the
speech, Dale's like, OK, I'm going to send my
people. And she's like, do you know them? He
goes, no. I think that's important. And then
she, this is a great moment where they're giving
these speeches. Of course, all the speeches are
condemning the Gormons. The murderers, the scum.
It killed innocent people. Another senator yields
her time to bail. I think part of it is it had
to be bail. Because if you remember the prequels,
bail was actually pretty close to Palpatine.
Hacked during the war. He was on that balcony
when they were watching the troops muster at
the end of the attack of the clones. I wasn't
happy about it, but he was right there beside
Palpatine. I really think, even though they don't
make a big deal out of that, I think that's a
subtle thing. Bale was always kind of, well,
he was playing a part. Yeah, but he was still
there. And I also wonder if that isn't retroactively
part of the Alderaan plan. I don't know. Who
knows? But it is kind of flippant for Tarkin
to blow up a major plan. Vail does this amazing
legal shenanigans. Well, you know, all these
senators are saying it's an emergency, and according
to the Emergency Blah Blah Blah Act, and according
to this rule, and according to this Subsect B
and C, and you know, because these guys say it's
an emergency, and because we passed this law
about emergencies, I am legally able to give
the floor to Mon Mothma. It's great. I can't
do it justice. It's so weasely, legally, but
it's beautiful. And then she goes out and she
gives a speech. There's more stuff that happened
where she finds out that her aide has actually
been working for Lutheran for a long time. And
as she gets out to give the speech, around the
time, we see Cassian going into the Senate building,
and he's basically using the same cover he did
on Gorman. Yeah, and there's also three other
guys who are Bales guys And one of them kind
of goes off by herself and she starts radioing
into the ISP because she is a double agent done
done done Yeah, one of the other guys is like,
hey, what are you doing? And she's like nothing.
She's like the guy's like, let me see that and
she shoes him. Yep So when she hooked up with
the third guy, he's like, where's where's guy
B and she's like, I thought he was with you So
we do know that Bales people have been compromised
Cassian kind of like gets in and he kind of gets
through the assistant guy who works for Luthen.
Mon's assistant who works for Luthen. Gets him
through some of the security or whatever. Gets
him to this one area. Gets him to the place like
right where the Senate Pods, the corridor where
you come out into after you get off the Senate
Pod. Yep. She gives a speech and meanwhile the
ISP is like, shut it down, shut it down. And
the guy at the Senate building is like, Okay,
I gotta go into this room and the room's locked."
He's like, why is this room locked? And these
two techs are like, well, he's like, it's been
unlocked all year. It's like, yeah, we gotta
yell that enough back. What was the key? Well,
it's in the security office way up there where
we were told to put it. Like, they're being real,
like, you can tell that they've done this on
purpose and they're really happy that they're
following all the protocols they were yelled
at about. And it's really inconvenient now for
them. So he runs to get the key, and they're
trying to shut down the speech, and it literally
ends with my mother saying, the monster will
come for us all. The monster's name is Emperor
Palpatine. And right then the guy finally is
able to shut down the broadcast. The loss of
an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous.
The death of truth is the ultimate victory of
evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip
away, when it is ripped from our hands, we become
vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster
screams the loudest. I don't care if you have
to cut power to the whole chamber. Get her off
the air! This chamber's hold on the truth was
finally lost on the Gorman Plaza. What took place
yesterday What happened yesterday on board was
unprovoked genocide. Yes, genocide. And that
truth was with exile from this jail. And the
monster screaming the loudest. The monster we've
helped create. The monster who will come for
us all soon enough. I can't speak right now.
I was in Gorman yesterday. I saw everything in
the plaza. I've made my statement. No, we need
to speak. I have friends everywhere. Yep. Then
she comes out of the pod and Cassie's right there.
And she of course doesn't know if he's there
to kill her or help her. He does the, I have
friends everywhere. And she's a little freaked
out. They go down to this other level, and that's
where Bale's people are. There's a bunch of people
there. The Bale's people are there, and the girl
goes, you know, I don't even think she waits.
She doesn't even, like, wait a minute. She just
pulls out a gun and says, you're under arrest.
I'm ISB. And Cassian does what Cassian does best,
and sure. Is that where he says welcome to the
rebellion? Because, like, I don't think so. Maybe.
I don't remember. There's a great meme going
around, because this happens twice. I'll get
to the other one. There's this great meme where
every time Cassian pulls up, they're going to
shoot somebody. Mothma looks horrified, and Cassian
looks happy. So the third guy is like, oh my
god, I had no idea she was ISB. Don't shoot me,
don't shoot me. Meanwhile, her assistant, who
worked for Lutheran, is also there with a gun.
How the hell he gets out of there, I don't know.
He's like, I'll cover you, go, go, go, go, go.
So they start going, and there's this great moment
where they're walking out on a walkway, and she's
kind of half running, and he says, don't run,
don't run, walk normally. But little details
like that are cool. Yeah, very. And they get
down to this other walkway, they're outside,
and her driver starts coming up. He's like, do
you know him? He's like, who's my driver? I'm
like, don't trust him. No, he's ISB. And this
great moment where Cassie's like, hey, look,
I got her, I got her. We'll take her into the
prison. I got her. I got her. She's captured."
The guy's like, huh? And she's like, what? And
he shoots him. Cassian shoots the driver. And
again, that's the one where he's got this huge
gun on his face, and she's like, huh? Yeah. Yeah,
I remember that. That's hilarious. And he gets
into the car, and he takes her to what turns
out to be the same safe house that they were
in the last start. That safe house becomes a
big part of the show. Yeah. That's where he runs
into Clea. And they talk about how they got it
like someone else This is continuity with rebels.
Someone else will bring her to Yavin and want
her to make a speech So you have to go watch
the episode to see the cargo kind of know what
happens there Meanwhile, he finds out like someone
else was in the apartment. He's like, is that
Luthen? He's like, no, no, no. He walks in there
and it's Willem. Willem got out off of Gorman.
He's injured. He got the girlfriend out. Good
for him. Yep. Yay. I don't remember how that
one ends. And then that one ends with Draven
offering Andor to brief Andor in his office.
Andor tells Draven that he has broken KX Series
security drawings. Oh, yeah. I forgot like a
whole chunk of that, didn't I? It's back to Yavin.
He hooks up with Vix and then he wakes up in
the morning and there's like a Dear John space
letter. Because his whole thing is I'm done with
it. I'm done. Me and the dicks are gonna go somewhere
quiet, somewhere good life. I've done my part
for the rebellion. And she's like, the force
lady guy, the force healer lady, said you were
important. You can't leave the rebellion. When
this is over, we can be together again, but I'm
leaving. He runs to the temple, or the bases.
And this is a great moment, and I think they're
talking about the ghost. Or he's like standing
there and he's like you got a move. There's a
freighter coming in Mm -hmm. I think that's the
ghost with my mama. Maybe not but but anyway,
he's like, where are the transports? The transports
were already left. So she's gone and then Draven
like Draven wants him and then the whole thing
is it got they've rebuilt the KSO droid he brought
back from the KX droid Yeah, the names are a
little too similar Yeah, and the whole thing
is like at the end they're they're about to turn
it on again Cassian grabs a gun. Everybody grabs
a gun. Which, you know, having seen the Gorman
massacre, yeah, I would. You turn him on and
there's like noise and it's very dramatic and
he's trapped down like Frankenstein's monster.
And KSO wakes up. I can finally call him back.
He goes, if I've done something to offend you,
I'm sorry. Otherwise, could you please stop pointing
guns at me? That's how that ends. That's how
that ends. We get KSO. Yay! Yay! Back to the
meme of the lady with the child in the pool,
like, favoring one, and that's KSO, and the child
at the bottom of the pool, that's B2. Poor B2
was left to drown. Fuck him. It's okay. It turns
out to be okay in the end, but... I was offended
at the time. That was triggered. Wait, I had
to talk this whole episode. Hey, Mike! Wow podcast
you have any thoughts on this TV show So episode
9 just It's one of those types of media where
I wasn't sure where the ending was going to be
yes, I know technically This is an episode of
television or an episode of a Disney plus show
or whatever the hell you want to call it where
it's like It's supposed to be a certain amount
of time length whether that's 42 minutes or 48
minutes or whatever But like episode seven, that
was 39 minutes. I looked at that and I was like,
wait a minute, that's... How long was this episode?
Because episode seven seemed awfully short to
me. And I looked at it and I was like, holy crap,
it's only 39 minutes. This episode, I wasn't
sure where the stopping point was going to be
because they had so many cliffhangers in this
one episode for episode nine for Welcome to the
Rebellion. He could have stopped it at... Well,
because you're right. There is a point where
it's at the end of one of the scenes. I forget
which one off the top of my head But it is at
the end point of one of the scenes where Cassian
says welcome to the rebellion They could have
ended it right friggin there like this episode
heads, and it's not a bad thing It's just one
of those things where to me. I like that point
of television where you don't know where The
stopping point is going to be it keeps you guessing
And as long as it can keep me guessing as to
where they're going to leave us off for the next
week or the next day or the next whatever, that's
great. Even though in the streaming world, you
can just go on to the next episode. It is what
it is now, but I really dug that. I like the
whole, now that I understand the whole, hey,
every episode is a year later thing as the countdown
continues. Casey Case, I'm not withstanding.
I really dig like this year later stuff like
because we don't like we know but we don't know
like what has happened in the preceding year.
We saw that last episode and this is what is
going to happen with this year or at least some
events of this year and I dig that. I think I
mentioned the first episode we did on season
two that the plan had originally been. Every
arc was going to be its own season. Yeah. But
because of what we talked about with $650 million,
that whole discussion... No, you get one more
season. No. You get one season, you get 12 episodes,
make it work. And I mean... Wait a minute, it
didn't work at all! We've all been lying to you!
We're just hacking light all over again! So that's
$325 million per season. Which is you know a
lot You can get like I'm an Avengers movie for
that Yeah But they did a lot in that first season
and they did a lot here in the Wow. Oh like Yeah
on the one hand, yeah, I'm I'm I'm a happy boy
because I got it was spent on a thing that I
like but You cannot argue It cannot argue that
there's not a dime. That's not on the screen
I'm not arguing with you. I'm saying the acting
is top -notch. They have real sets as opposed
to the volume. Special effects all look movie
quality. Yeah, absolutely. In fact, ironically,
before we started recording, I saw a random,
I don't know what they call them on Facebook,
it's not TikTok, but one of those random short
videos. Reels, yeah. It was a clip from Book
of Boba Fett. Okay, I kind of started watching
it. It was like this like literally looks like
a sitcom like the filming the look of it No,
but I'm not even like trying to bug beat up on
book of over fat. It's just it looked like a
sitcom Yeah, this looks like yeah season 2 of
and or was made to be three films or Whatever
however, we're gonna show them in theaters some
of them Cool. And hell yeah, I will happily go
see it in the theaters. Especially... This one
in particular, like this arc in particular, as
we said, is the best one of the... Gorman Massacre
is amazing. I mean, it's heartbreaking, it's
terrible. You know, people are like, the Snow
Gryphers are scary again. It's like, yeah, the
Empire is terrifying. And it's just that moment
where the sniper tags the kid. His own guy. That's
what you're dealing with. Because the Gorman
aren't taking the bait. As provoked as they are,
one guy had the presence of mind to try to bring
them back. The guy with the hat and the beard.
But actually screwed up the heist earlier. He
got killed. He's the guy who's like, we can't
do this. You have to be peaceful. You have to
remember who we are. Yep, the Empire with the
Empire is prepared for it. Yeah, I would say
the middle two sections parts two and part three
four five six seven eight nine They are the two
best sections I mean even the last section that
we're gonna talk about next time is great, but
Like I said last time in the previous episode
the end of episode six is by far Like I just
was not not expecting that ending to episode
six. The ending to episode six is when she gets
her revenge on... Oh yeah, oh yeah, I'm a doctor.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which is funny because this
article actually talks about all of that. And
the article, I'll post a variety article about
the $650 million for both seasons. I'll post
that in the show notes, folks. But this variety
article does talk about that because they talk
about how. As you mentioned, I believe you mentioned
this in our season one discussion where it was
not supposed to be fight the empire. They were
fighting for fuck the empire. Yes, they wanted
fuck the empire in there and that was never going
to happen. So the article goes through and it
talks about how. Like the brothel opening up
season two at the brothel and how much they could
get away with and what Disney would let them
get away with and what Star Wars would let them
get away with and things like that. This article
is such an interesting read. So yeah folks. We
did get a shit. We did get a shit this time because
Bale says like wreck the shit out of this place.
Exactly. Yeah, absolutely. Anything else you
would like to say about episode seven? I feel
I have talked for what, like an hour? I just
let you go. You know, this is your... This is
my business. I loved it. I mean, there's not
much more I can add to what you're saying. Most
of the time I'm in agreement with what you're
saying and I really enjoyed the hell out of it.
I think I've got a few more notes for the next
three next time. I think I said this last episode,
and I'll say it again, and I'll say it for the
next episode, but it's just the fact that it's
not Star Wars -y. People take that as a negative,
and I disagree. I think this is a show you could
show non -Star Wars fans. Absolutely. If you
can get past the first three episodes, which
have a few issues, like, I think they have issues,
you're not looking at it like a hyperfan, looking
for all the details and all the connective issues.
I think if you're watching it for entertainment
value, then the first three episodes are gonna
be a little bit of a strain your patience, but
I just, it's not good Star Wars, it's good, period.
It's a masterpiece. regardless of franchise.
And even though it makes my skin crawl every
time I have to say this, you gotta thank Allie
Kennedy. She gave us a goddamn masterpiece. I
keep hearing the report that she's waiting to
go out on a high note. No, you will never get
better than this. Exactly. What are you gonna
give this arc of season two, zero to five, with
half funds? Five. Like, how high does it go?
Five. Yeah. So it's a five, folks. You're gonna
hear some podcast ads and some other stuff. We'll
come back to close the show right after this.
Have we met? It's possible. We have friends everywhere.

you know that our recording starts in 22 minutes?
Mm -hmm. That phone is very, very useful. Yes,
yes it is. Thank you for reminding me about that.
I'm turning off your phone? Yeah. Well, I turned
my phone off, but I want to make sure I turn
the alarm off because the alarm, even with my
phone in silent, sleep, do not disturb, whatever
mode, if the alarm is on, the alarm will go off.
Oh, it is on. I mean, can you believe that? No,
no, no. I just want to make sure I did that.
I want to make sure the human did the right thing
for the technology. Yeah. I want to make sure
the actual intelligence, what little intelligence
I have, actually turned off the artificial intelligence.
And the scary thing is, I think we're some of
the smart ones. Well, yeah. And I'm an idiot!
Well, you know, I've been saying this for a year,
for the last couple of years now. I actually
prefer actual intelligence to artificial intelligence,
because the artificial intelligence isn't smart
enough yet. No. Artificial intelligence is like
SMRT. The problem is when it started burning
down the house to get rid of the old diploma.
The GED. That's right. Hello. If I've offended
you, I apologize. If not I'd appreciate you pointing
that elsewhere.
