About this Episode

TFG1Mike and David Draper wrap up their coverage of Ahsoka's first season, discussing the final four episodes and what works and doesn't in the show's conclusion. They dig into problems with the writing, character development, and how the series handles Thrawn, the Night Sisters, and the story's unresolved threads—while acknowledging the production value and occasional moments that land for longtime Star Wars fans.

Hi, this is John Delancey and you are listening

to the Geekcast Radio Network. Over the years,

I've made my share of difficult choices. No matter

what happens next, trust in the force. Rain hellfire

upon them. The battle's not over yet. Now! Ahsoka,

all episodes now streaming only on Disney+. There

is nothing wrong with your podcast player. Do

not attempt to adjust the volume. Hello and welcome

back to Studio 2009. I'm, of course, Steve John

Mike. And joining me for the latest episode is

Mr. David Draper. Hello, sir. How are you? Oh,

uh, it's been a week. It's been a week. I guess.

I guess technically it's been a four four weeks

for us. Yeah, it's been four weeks for us. And

we are here to wrap up a soca season one. There

better be a season two. There's supposed to be

a movie. I keep saying this like fucking Cassandra

in the middle of Troy. Like, it's supposed to

be a movie. Yeah, but I don't want it to be a

movie. Now, how can they, like, to jump ahead,

how can they resolve, like, just in this episode

alone, at the end of the series alone, how much

time is that gonna take up of a movie to resolve

all that crap? Let alone it's supposed to be

the Mandoverse, so we gotta have all that, you

know, the Bo -Katan stuff, and Mando himself

might get mentioned, because it's his universe.

But I mean, it's the Ahsoka TV show, and it was

all about Sabine, so I mean, you know, who knows?

So episodes five through eight, the last half

of the Ahsoka series. The back nine. Exactly.

Four. Yeah. I wish they didn't relegate Chopper

to just being background in these last four.

I mean, he's look, buddy, he's he's an astromech.

I mean, like After the first movie, 3PO and R2

were basically background characters, except

for the Ewok stuff. Which I guess we'll get to

that when we get to episode, what, seven or eight.

I guess I don't have any problems with how they

did it in the show, but I remember watching a

critic talking about that episode and got really

irritated with that person because he apparently

did not know Star Wars at all. Because he's like,

why is Princess Leia's toaster addressing the

Republic Council? And I'm like, That toaster

won the rebellion for you people. If it wasn't

for 3PO, the Ewoks wouldn't have sided with the

Rebels. They would have all been killed. Like,

show that frickin' droid some fucking respect.

I hate Senators Zenos or Zenos or Z... Senator

obviously a plant for the bad guys. Yeah, I hate

that guy. I hate that character. Yeah, because

he's an idiot or he's supposed to be a... villain,

a bad guy. Because apparently the Republic, as

we know from Mandalorian Season 3, is really

on the ball about spies and infiltrators in the

Republic Central Command. Gideon's girlfriend

is apparently hanging out with Fleet Command

and frying people's brains. Did you see Mandalorian

Season 3? Yeah, I did the the mean lady who like

first of all, she's left alone in the room with

the doctor guy who was a huge huge drop this

lecture, but she tricks him into like stealing

some stuff from a Star Destroyer and so so that

she can get him in the the completely Not a brain

-destroying machine not a brain not a mind flaying

machine because I remember because I'm a D &D

guy So mind flared sticks in my head not a mind

flaying machine, but a gentle brainwashing machine

based on the same schematics that apparently

goes up to 11 that can fry your brain. And they

leave her in the control room, the former Imperial,

and then the guy gets his brain fried. And the

next time we see her, she's hanging out at Fleet

Command with, of course, Tim Meadows, their finest

SNL alumni. And I'm not saying that a comedian

can't do serious roles, but literally the first

time you see him, he's having a comedy bit with

a droid that's like fumbling files all over the

place. This guy is in charge of like the the

eastern front of the he's in charge of whatever

zone of space the Mandalorian was in at the time

because Captain Columbo the the pilot guy who's

in Mandalorian he's in he's in the show to the

the guy who I guess he was like a fan You know

like a fan podcast or something. Okay, but like

he was he's the rebel pilot guy. He's kind of

older Yeah He was hanging out with Zeb in in

Mandalorian. Yeah that guy who's in season two

He was sniffing around. I started calling him

Captain Columbo because he was always sniffing

around trying to figure out plots and stuff.

Remember he went to Fleet Command and he's like,

we need your ships. And Mean Lady goes, no, that's

a bad idea. And he's like, that's a bad idea.

I'm the ladies guy. I hate what they have done

to the New Republic so much. It just infuriates

me because the whole point of the original movies

was to get rid of the Empire and replace it with

something better. And what we have is so stupid

and awful that you root for the first order.

Yeah. And and we'll get there like and of course,

this whole episode is going to be depressing

for me because I've got to think about stupid

things. So many stupid things. So the character

you're referring to is Captain Teva, right? I

might be with the beer. He's basically the wedge

Antilles of this series essentially Yeah, he's

he's he's been in like he might have even been

in season one I don't remember because I think

they were setting him up for the the the Republic

Marshals spin -off show which didn't happen because

of all the stuff with Gina Carano Yeah, he's

been in it. Yeah, I think he was in season one

because I think he No, I don't know. He's been

around for a while. Yeah, I'm looking at it now

Mm -hmm. I thought his deal was he was part of

a fan podcast He just got like a small role as

a pilot and they blew it up and maybe he's an

actual actor I don't know. I don't know anything

anymore He first appearance was in Mandalorian's

chapter 10 the passenger and then season 2 episode

3 episode 2 He was he was in that one. He was

one of the pilots in that one Think that's according

to what according to what yeah, yeah, I think

the other the other pilot in that one was felony

Probably yeah He was in that one. He was in that

one with a little girl who committed genocide

Gotta get a watch out for those Yoda grandchildren

there. Well, I mean it was like these are these

eggs are the last of my species You know, unfortunately

were a delicious species made them all. Poor

frog lady. Yeah, Carson Teva first appearance

was in Mando. I didn't remember there were pilots

in that. I didn't remember that he was the one

of the pilots. I honestly, that's one of the

reasons why we're going back and watching these

things, some of these things, because honestly,

the last thing I remember about Mando is Luke

showing up. That's really the last thing I remember.

Good I remember I remember that watch anything

else never go any further ever And you will be

happy You will know a happiness. I do not yes

Well, I remember that and I also like I remember

watching season 3 of Mando But I don't remember

a damn thing other than the very end where he

sits on his Ranch with Grogu and I'm like, oh

man. Yeah. Okay, so I like that I thought it

was funny. How can you forget the episode with

Lizzo and Jack Black and Christopher Lloyd and

the droids, which had a naturally decent idea

in the middle of all that garbage? And then five

episodes after the fact, they finally do the

whole Voldemort's wand thing about giving stupid

Bo -Katan the stupid darksaber. because he had

been captured by the guy in the tunnels and she

beat the guy in the tunnels. So technically she

won the dark saber. And it's like, I was saying

that five episodes ago. Why did it take this?

Why? Why? That is a question I will be asking

a lot through Ahsoka. Why? Yeah. Anyway, like

we're actually supposed to be talking about Ahsoka,

not marginally better TV shows. It's all Star

Wars. It's fine. No, no. I have officially drawn

the line. between Disney Star Wars and real Star

Wars. I'm ready to pull that ejector seat and

just wallow in my nostalgia. This show didn't

break me, but I literally had a friend. This

is a God's honest truth. I had a friend call

me the other day because I posted my initial

review on Facebook. I had a friend call me to

do a wellness check on me. I'm sorry. I don't

mean to laugh. No, no, I mean it was somewhat

tongue -in -cheek Yeah, I mean the review itself

was pretty over -the -top Yeah, I remember I

read it. Yeah, but but but as I explained the

episode to him I'm like this is what actually

happened in the episode and then I got to the

space whales and he was like wait There were

space whales. I'm like, yeah, and he's like,

oh my god I think he thought I was doing drugs

not watching Star Wars Yeah, there were space

whales buddy They're definitely space whales.

I was like, did you watch season three of Mandalorian?

He's like, yeah, you remember? I was like, oh

yeah, I remember that. Like those things are

a huge deal in this show. And you won't talk

about it anymore. So I will reiterate what I

said back in episode 60. Whoa, whatever the hell

it was, we did part one of this. This show is

not and I understand your point of it Star Wars

should be accessible to everyone This show is

not accessible to everyone. You have to know

you have had to have at least watched a good

95 % of the rebels cartoon to Really like get

some of these like the fact that hair like that

You basically have almost the entire rebel. The

only one that's missing out of this is Zeb. That

would have been cool And I had a costume for

it. I mean, yeah if they could have found a way

to get Zeb in here and Well, they had pilots.

I mean there was when Harry did the thing like

the Carson's there So I mean that he's part of

that same wing. They established that in In Mandalorian

season 3 that they they all hang out at the same

bar. They could they they were places to put

them. Yeah So, yeah Episode 5 the Shadow Warrior

The So they Wow like cuz as I said before we

started recording you're the guy that was like

excited for the show I am and I'm excited for

parts of it, but like It feels like after episode

4 the whole mystery kind of just stops like what

they all This is not me being facetious at all

like I'm like What was the mist I mean that they

were they were very straightforward about the

the central? Conflict that they're trying to

stop from getting back to the galaxy right well

alerted to quote Obi -Wan good job um Well the

mystery of like we're episode four ends and we're

episode five begins and no folks I'm not talking

I'm not talking about Star Wars and Empire. I'm

talking about a soccer So where episode four

ends and episode five begins, it's like somehow

in the middle of episode five, we figure out

immediately, like the end of episode four, they

all disappear. They all go to the other galaxy.

Like Sabine surrenders, goes willingly, whatever.

And then Ahsoka and everybody shows up, Ahsoka

and Hera show up in the ghost. To Stonehenge,

let's just call it what it is. It's freaking

Stonehenge and There's a song in my head Trying

to figure out where they went what happened everything

else No helmet, you know helmet because What's

a you? Who yang Wow, I almost wasn't able to

pronounce damn droids name Hu Yang is, like,

hanging off the edge of the cliff with her. Hell,

he's not hanging, but he's, like, standing so

close to the damn cliff, because, uh, Hera's

son, who also, obviously, Kanan's son, Jedi powers,

do you hear it? The water, Mom, the water. That's

great. I think that's cool that we are establishing

this quote -unquote youngling to be a new Jedi

whatever, but, like, The whole like, oh my God,

where did they go? How did they get there? Like

the fact that Baylin destroys the little compass

map thing. I don't know, man. I, it just, what

I like about the back half of this show is what

Ahsoka does when she like, when she's doing the

training, the fact that we start out where she's

stuck. in the world between worlds and we see

Anakin and we see, you know, CGI, Hayden and,

and, and all that. I like that. And I, I don't

know if I sent this to you and I can't find it

now and it makes me so mad. Somebody on Instagram

and I don't, I'm pretty sure I know your anti

-technology stance on a lot of the stuff. I'm

pretty sure you're not on Instagram. Okay. On

Instagram, if you do, like video or photos or

whatever, you can add music to it. So you take

the scene where the two of them are fighting

in the world between worlds and instead of it

being the audio, instead of the audio being what

it is, you can replace the audio with a song.

Somebody took that battle scene between Anakin

and Ahsoka and put Rob Zombie's song, Dragula,

which I originally heard in a Twisted Metal video

game like 30 years ago. And I was like, holy

crap, this works so well. It was so fun. And

it just made it. It was just a fun little thing.

And now I can't find the damn thing. But I like

that. I like that because I was one of the people

that finally ended up watching all of the cartoon

stuff and everything else. I like the whole,

oh, whatever he says. I didn't expect to see

you so soon or whatever. And they have this kind

of fight thing, the whole visual gag of going

between Anakin and Vader. I love that effect

because I just think that's fun. And I think

that's what this series wanted to be, but the

stupid New Republic decided to interfere. And

there's only one person in the stupid New Republic

that is the stupid New Republic, which is the

Senator Zenos or Zenon. Yeah, but everybody listens

to him. They shouldn't. He's stupid. No. So episode

five is the episode that lost me. Okay. This

is the one that turned me against the show. Okay.

What I want to ask from you is, all that stuff

in the World Between Worlds, what was the point

of it? What did it accomplish? The point of it?

It took up an entire episode that could have

been spent on Balin's quest, could have been

spent on developing his relationship with his

Padawan, could have been spent on getting to

know Ezra again, could have been spent showing

Thrawn not being a clueless idiot. Like, it was

an entire episode's worth of runtime and salaries

and special effects. What did it accomplish in

terms of moving the show forward? I think, and

trust me, folks, it's not good when I think,

but I think what it was trying to do was Show

us that Ahsoka will not give up and she will

not give in to the dark side Okay, that whole

scene You know He said, you know, she says to

him. What's the lesson master and he says you

need to want to live and I was like When did

she not want to live what? That's true. When

did she not want to but Don't know the way I

see that scene is that she is stuck in the world

between worlds, which is almost like You're gone.

You're dead your way. She's not dead. She's not

a force ghost. Well, she's she's mostly dead

And like it's what's a good example I mean, if

I were writing this show or if like Dave Filoni

said, hey, here's my script. I would have been

like, OK, let's have Ahsoka be burned out in

the first four episodes. She's drinking. She's

depressed. She lost her will to do whatever.

And then she meets Anakin and she wants to live

again. And she's because literally she comes

back and, you know, we've all seen the memes.

We all know the deal. She's Ahsoka the white.

Yeah. All of a sudden, all her clothes. It's

very, very unsubtle that it's a Gandalf thing.

But she's basically the same character and there's

no real growth between I mean now she smiles

a little more when she crosses her arms as opposed

to like just looking blank when she crosses her

arms What was the Point like this is this is

what made this is what turned me against the

show is like I began to feel like my time was

being wasted Like okay. Yeah, it's cool to see

Hayden again. It's I I did watch another review

were someone who didn't follow the Clone Wars

and all that stuff at all. He appreciated the

episode because you got to see some of the past

between Anakin and Ahsoka. You got to see some

of that, and he felt there should have been more

on the show. So I get that, but I know who Ahsoka

is, and I did watch the Clone Wars, so I got

nothing from it. All I got was, and I made the

joke, ghosts lightsaber fighting. Who cares?

Because they're ghosts. Like and and you know,

even if you factor out the fact that the lightsabers

Every lightsaber fight I found tedious annoying

and annoying because like they're they've already

established there are no consequences for lightsabers

Yeah, I literally doing the final fight with

with Morgan. I was like, well, gee I hope she's

really angry because she might get hurt. Otherwise,

I mean it was They ruin lightsabers and now you

have ghosts fighting with lightsabers and I'm

spending my precious life watching this Why?

To what end? Asoka is not advanced as a character

at all. I didn't get that stuff about not giving

up and not turning to the dark side. I mean,

you could have put that in the regular narrative.

Yeah, I think for this specific episode... Well,

let me put it this way. When did she consider

giving up before then? When did she consider

turning to... Like, there was never a moment...

Right like she had to have that that that that

vision of Anakin to have that realization I need

to keep fighting I need to not give in there

was never any of that in the first four episodes

or ever in her character arc Yeah, like ever

so I Was the point the point was All you fans

we're waving our services at you because here

you go you want to see Hayden and Rosario, as

the characters you loved in this cartoon, do

what they used to do. Here you go. So that way,

that takes them out of whatever else has to happen

in this specific episode, which is Hera and Jason

and Hu Yang showing up to the Henge to figure

out, oh crap, we kind of already knew this because

obviously Kanan is Jason's father. Jason has

abilities as okay. Yeah, we know this you and

I know this Okay, now I'm I'm I'm one of my best

friends not Jason one of my other best Jason

actually and I'm sitting down to watch this and

I'm like Who's this kid with green hair? Like

okay, you and I know who his dad is But like

someone who's even ma a moderate fan of Star

Wars is gonna be like, who's this kid? Okay,

so the so Hera has this non twilight Jedi kid

Mm -hmm. That's first of all Twilight's and humans

can have kids, okay? Star Trek Yeah, and did

we see Jason again after this episode? Yeah,

I think so. Did we? Yeah Okay, I think let me

Let me double check but so anyway episode Yeah,

I swear we did I swear he's been in the whole

he's been in the whole back half No, I thought

he was. I mean, most of the back half takes place

in the Ganna quadrant. So. Hmm. Like because

she gets yelled at for like disobeying orders

and then she gets brought up at the tribunal,

but the kid's not at the tribunal. Also, I love

how to skip ahead. Apparently, X -Wings don't

have apparently the ghost, neither the ghost

nor X -Wings have any kind of cameras or like

visual scanning equipment. So when they get called

before the council, they're like, Yeah, there

was this big giant hyperspace ring. Oh, you're

just telling tales. Like, yeah, me and these

other three surviving X -wing pilots are all

just telling big stories and we've got no way

of confirming what we saw because apparently

there's no cameras, surveillance equipment on

these vehicles in space in the future. Just everything

about that is irritating. I see what you're saying.

And yeah, well, I guess Jason is only in... Well,

we know Chopper wasn't babysitting him because

Chopper showed up to the tribunal because Carson...

It looked like Chopper was on trial. Yeah, exactly.

For half a second when 3PO shows up and what's

his idiot says? Oh, a stupid droid. Like the

fact that Carson had to shush him because you

know Chopper would have... Wait, what? Where

the fuck was Carrie Anne Moss in oh Never mind.

That's the acolyte article. I went too far Yes,

I've gone That's it doesn't say a character on

here but but that's what they're all new characters.

So like they wouldn't yeah Yeah, so I just looked

through episode 6 7 & 8 and yeah, you're absolutely

right So we've established that this kid has

force powers and then we never see him again.

Yeah, very much. But I like... I don't know what

the point is of any of this, but what I do like

is when Hu Yang says to Carson, His father was

a Jedi, Kanan Jarrus. Carson just - Okay, so

he says that. I didn't rewatch like you did,

so he does say that? Yes. Okay, fair. In this

episode with Jason, because the whole point of

episode five - I'm gonna make sure I'm on episode

five here, not episode six. Keep scrolling up

and down here. Yeah, episode five, Shadow Warrior.

So in this episode - Hera doesn't know what's

going on at this hand the Stonehenge place whatever

else she basically tells Jason to hide behind

chopper and stay safe and whatever as she's as

she's doing this she comes up to who Yang who

is not necessarily standing on the full edge

of the cliff, but it's pretty much the full edge

of the cliff and he's holding Sabine's helmet

and all of that and at the time Jason starts

walking up to the cliff the whole stonehenge

like right before the water and he starts listening

and he hears the lightsabers and he's like you

know because at this point Hera and Carson are

arguing about Well, I need to go back. Yeah.

Yeah, the fleets coming the the senators want

you to the evil idiot senator guy is is done

with you You're supposed to come back. You're

disobeying orders you Han Solo Twylock kind of

thing and Jason's like, but mom but mom the water

there's something wrong with the water something

going on with it. Can you hear it? What is it?

Lightsabers. Oh my god, you can hear lightsabers

under the sea Next thing you know you're gonna.

You know have a dinglehopper come out of the

sea or something So that's when as Jason walks

back to the ship with Hera Carson is still standing

there and who Yang says to to Carson he says

because Carson's like what did the kid what what

happened here, and then who Yang says? Jason

has abilities. His father was Kanan Jarrus Jedi

Knight. And this is what I love about this scene,

is like, Carson's like, oh, okay, because Carson's

worked with Jedi before. Carson, as an X -wing

fighter pilot, hey, you know. Has he? I think

so. When? I don't remember. But like, the way

the scene is played is like... Okay, I trust

it because yeah, okay, I'm fine with that like

I'm fine with people who like the idea that okay

Well, we've experienced stuff before like I just

I don't remember him. He's worked with Mandalorian

before he knows Mando. Yeah, I Don't know Well,

I'm sorry, but these are like this is what good

writing consists of is you you're able to ask

a question and get an answer Like you know Bad

writing is just assumptions and you know, like

like the fact that okay. Yes, Huang I guess explains

what Jason's deal is now. This is the kids like

He's already been around and he's already like

we're explaining we're showing not telling or

telling not showing It's like this kid has force

powers, which you know, because he's hearing

mystic lightsabers between ghosts His dad was

a Jedi which and that'll that'll come back later

Another kind of stupid scene. Yeah I Love how

throughout the last four episodes they always

call them space whales They don't actually call

them the actual name of the actual species the

pergill Remember on the show they call them space

whales. Yeah. Oh my god Yeah, I do not I literally

right before we hit record I know you did just

finished watching all four of these episodes

again and I remember space whales. I remember

this. I remember that. I do not remember hearing

the term pergill at all, which is weird. That's

sad. Like, if you're going to go with a stupid

Star Wars name, like, stick with it. Well, no,

because that's how you, like, remember the first

time we ever heard the name Grogu, and we're

all like, Grogu? Really? That's Baby Yoda's name?

But now it works, because you stuck with it.

You know like you get used to it and you're like,

okay. Well, this is a wacky Star Wars thing We're

used to it now where if you just keep calling

space whales Then the person like my friend who

called me and I was like so so so good goes in

a space whales mouth And he's like, I'm done

you're making this up. You're you're bullshitting

me buddy. I'm like, no, no, there are space whales

Cuz I say it sarcastically like it's a dumb concept

of space whales now if i said purgles like it's

an alien called a purgle and it's like okay well

it's a goofy name but it's an alien you say space

whales we kind of have a whack it's wackier than

just saying purgles and i do have to confess

something i guess it was episode is episode six

the one where she actually gets in the purgles

mouth yep and they have this show down with the

fleet okay i skipped over the entire ending of

that episode Okay, I like I got that she was

communicating with the purgles and then the the

stupid Republic people showed up and I was done

I was just like blah blah blah blah blah blah

blah She's gonna use the whales to go to the

other side of the galaxy blah or the other galaxy

blah blah blah blah blah Just skip just I'm done.

I can't deal with this nonsense anymore Like

once we get to the other other side of the galaxy,

we'll see what's going on. I was I So I was like,

oh I had to kind of go back. Oh, she's inside

the whales mouth. Okay Yeah, so I don't whatever

dialogue was said during that sequence. I wasn't

paying attention like the whole kind of the There

was like a whole thing where Carson had to like

distract the fleet while so far communicated

with the whale Yeah, I just I skipped all that.

Yeah, the hell it I got I got the idea she uses

the whales to go to the other galaxy and the

New Republic is stupid and deserves death so

Again, yeah, cut the chase. What is the point?

What are we doing? Where are we going? This is

fucking Star Wars George Lucas quote faster more

intense not drag everything out for 20 minutes

To make an obvious dumb point like just faster

more intense at Star Wars go go go go go not

I'm going to sit here and be like and if it had

worked if it had just been her being mystic with

the whale Mm -hmm like a couple seconds. I would

have been fine with that because I do like when

they use the force When the force comes into

play, I like it to be mystic I like it to be

like when even I make fun of it when Grover was

on the rock Summoning Luke like I like that I

like that it was kind of mystic and it wasn't

explained and it was just sort of poetic and

lyrical and like I'm fine with that like like

her having a moment a moment of Communion with

the whales was fine. Mm -hmm. The fact that I

skipped 20 minutes And she's finally in the damn

thing's mouth like yeah because we had to have

the stupid b -plot about the stupid Just just

get to the point. But if you're if Take a moment

to be mythical and to be magical when you need

it, but don't don't waste time This whole show

was wasting and this is that this is not a new

thing Like people have been complaining since

everyone loves the Netflix Daredevil series,

but everyone also kind of forgets those those

Shows had like a lot of episodes that were filler

that spun their wheels Like it is nothing new

and of course back in the old day of episodic

TV Like you had a whole episodes that were just

nothing that were just But this is you have eight

Episodes and it's Star Wars and you should not

be sitting there. I should not be checking my

watch watching Star Wars I'll be like get to

the fucking point. It's Star Wars. I did that

constantly Like the whole final episode I kept

going we have time for this like we're supposed

to wrap everything up and we're sitting on the

shuttle Having a cute little chat. We have time

for this That was that my things were like what

was the point? Why is this happening? We have

time for this question mark Like yeah, everything

from episode 5 on it was just like we have time

for this So as I did in the previous episode

I will say the time lengths for each of these

Episode 5 was 52 minutes episode 6 was 49 episode

7 was 46 and episode 8 was 48 at 49 Because I

think one of those was like 30 minutes I seem

to recall Yeah, the last the one that was 37

minutes was episode 3 which was time to fly Which

was the one where haratangles with new republic

politics, blah, blah, blah. That was the 37 minute

one. But yeah, no, the last four were like I

said, 52, 49, 46 and 49. So the last episode

was 49 minutes of playing. I will say I. I just

couldn't jump ahead to the last episode. We'll

go through. Are you missing anything by skipping

over episode 7, really? Let me look here and

make sure. I know, I'm being facetious. I know

you are, but I'm just trying to remember. What

happens in episode 7? Thrawn uses magic to...

Okay, you know what happens in episode 7? Did

you like Empire Strikes Back? Yeah. Because they

do Empire Strikes Back. Yeah, pretty much. It's

a whale graveyard instead of Asgard Field. Yeah.

The only thing I liked about episode seven is

identification. I don't need identi - Get out

of my way! I was not expecting 3PO to show up

at all because I forget that this is like...

in the Mando timeline, which is, as we've said,

five years after Jedi or whatever. It's probably

six years at this point. OK, well, what? No,

no, no, no. I mean, you had the base. I wasn't

trying to be. I understand. Maybe I was. But

my point is, when he starts... Why does everybody

have such problems? Like, nobody can wrap their

brains around. Like, Emperor Strikes Back happened,

and then five years later, other things happened.

No, no, no! Five years later! When? The problem

I had is It's not even reconciling I can't can't

even use the term reconciling but like when I

was watching in episode 5 Ahsoka versus The idiot

the kids it's yeah the ghost the ghost fight

when I was watching the ghost fight my brain

was oh this is cool, this is rebels, this is

this, this is that, this is whatever, because

immediately and during some of that in episode

five and six, they have the whole flashback.

Anakin. When I got the phone call to talk about

being a part of the Ahsoka project, I was thrilled.

One is never too old to learn snips. I met Hayden

when I was 16 and we were in acting school together

over a summer. And to have that kind of history

with him, it really was like seeing my old friend.

It's nice if it's like a genuine sort of recollection

of like, oh, I've heard that before. I've heard

that before. It just was really, really powerful

for Ahsoka to see her guard come down. You lack

conviction. You know her as a stoic, super powerful,

on top of it warrior. And all of a sudden, she's

Padawan again. I'm here to finish your training.

Putting on the Anakin costume, getting to wear

those Jedi robes. It kind of blows your mind

every time. I just feel very grateful. There's

hope for you yet. Battle of Mandalore and or

the siege of man or whatever the hell how the

hell you want to fucking call it and they have

young Ahsoka and youngish Anakin and They show

Rex for like half a second and I was like, oh,

that's cool. So that's what the again. I'm very

bad at You take a comic book you start it in

the present and then three pages later You're

in the future of the pay like the time jump.

I hate time jumps. Oh You have not watched Loki

season two yet, have you? I refuse. I hate that

character. Oh, OK. Well, that's probably for

the best, because that whole that whole episode

is time jumps. Yeah, no, no, not not for me.

It's OK. I do whatever it's not for me. So that's

why I kind of got confused when 3PO shows up

and says, Leia Organic is my thought is, well,

fuck, she's dead. Because well, seriously like

I forgot that's what I'm saying. I forgot where

This New Republic the New Republic is after Jedi

I forgot that When 3PO shows up and I'm like

wait, how did Leia? That would almost be more

depressing that the thing that they forged after

Rise of Skywalker Equal was was really stupid

and so huh? Oh my god, I would Yeah, and we're

gonna get a wellness check I Think both of us

are gonna need therapy after the sequel trilogy

because yikes So, you know as I'm so yeah so

like as much as I love 3po showing up in dreams

and madness and episode 7 it Confused the hell

out of me cuz I'm like, wait a minute. How did

Leia give orders to Hera? Oh, right. This is

after Jedi, but before the first. Okay. It's

in the middle timeline. Okay. All right. I got

it now. You know, I think it was a clever way

to get around the fact that you didn't have Carrie

Fisher. Yes, absolutely. And, you know, I think

that guy being rude to Threepier was stupid because,

again, you wouldn't be a senator. You'd be in

a cage somewhere if it hadn't been for that droid.

The one thing I did like about that scene was

when, at the end, when Mon Mokhmah comes up to

Hera and goes, are we in trouble? I like that

there was a little bit of salvaging of that,

because she's in Andor. I like her in Andor.

And I like that they salvaged her character just

the tiniest bit, where maybe she's been around

Senator Stupid too long. There's a little bit

of the smart rebel leader who used to exist.

Right. Well, I appreciated that. So, whatever

Mon Mothma's title is, Chancellor, Supreme, whatever

it is, she's standing at the top of the podium.

To the left of her is another species, which

I will get to in a second. Is it in the Celestian?

I thought it was nine -numb. There was a black

bar and nine -numb. The one sitting next to her

before you get to the idiot senator who's the

moron. Yeah, that's my point. I'm like Admiral

Ackbar Yeah, cuz that's who I thought it was

that was so I like that. That's cool. I Thought

that was fun and for his his meaningless death

in last Jedi I Don't remember much about that

movie. So my head hurts This will be this will

be interesting when we get there because I actually

Believe it or I think I've said this before you

like and I've liked last Jedi last Jedi. Yeah,

I What I am liking about besides the fact that

I'm a huge Ahsoka fanboy for the character herself.

I Like that over the last 40 or 50 77 that's

for God 50 years Wow Let's just say over the

last 40 -something, almost 50 years, I like that

Mon Mothma is not just another one character

that appeared in one or two scenes in the original

trilogy. She is a mainstay headlining character

that has been flushed out through the cartoons

and now in this series. I love her character.

It's so good. I think you'll enjoy Andor, then,

because she's not the major character in Andor,

but she has a major sub -block. Cool. So yeah,

episode seven has the voyage to Perdita, Peredia,

Pereda, Parida, whatever the hell. Gamma Quadrant.

Yeah, there you go. I'm rewatching Deep Space

Nine, so it's always Alpha Quadrant and Gamma

Quadrant. This is so stupid. This has nothing

to do with Star Wars, but you're mentioning Alpha

and Gamma and it reminds me of the other day

on Instagram. I follow this account that, you

know, they have all these accounts where people

show off their pets and whatever else. Well,

one of the accounts that I follow, Nordic Siberians,

it's this lady who lives in Denmark with her

husband and her now four cats that they have.

They have Willis, Molly, Eva, and now they have

Walter. So Walter is pretty much a kitten. And

Walter, Willis is the oldest of the cats. He's

a he's a rose gold Nordic Siberian cat. And Walter

was playing with Willis and the lady was like,

be careful, Walter. He's the alpha. He's the

alpha in this house. And I said because you on

Instagram. It's so stupid, but if you reply to

a story on Instagram, it sends the person a message

instead of a comment on the post. It's so stupid,

but whatever. So I replied. I said, uh, Walter,

yes, Willis is so if, if Willis is the alpha,

then Walter is the Omega, right? The beginning

and the end kind of thing. Oh man. That's not

really how it works in like group order, but

okay. True. But usually it's like, like they,

I think they go beta. Sigma is usually like the

bottom of the because Omega is too cool sounding

Yeah, it's like you're you know, like like like

in the X -Men the Omega level mutants are the

ones that can destroy the world like Omega is

a little Because it's the end it's a little too

cool for like the guy at the end of the caboose

roll Usually they're like Sigma or you know,

yeah Well, I just remember it from Beast Wars

when Megatron starts quoting things and he says

in his is David Kaye Yeah, it's pretty much where

I remember from yeah That's why the Omega Man

with Vincent Price. That was the other thing

I liked with episode seven was we finally have

the reunion of the friends and all of that. No.

Thank God there are no Joey characters in this

show. They're all Joey characters. Not all of

them. And Admiral Joey. How you doing? I'll give

you that I'm gonna leave my I'm gonna leave myself

completely vulnerable until the absolute last

second. How you doing? Now I gotta go on my spin

-off show with an ape It was the ape on joy or

is he on the movie? I don't know that LeBlanc

was in something with an ape. Yeah, he was I

forget So I love the reunion. I love the With

Ezra is what you're saying. Yes. Yes Yes, the

reunion of friends with all the rebel crew. The

only one that's missing is Zeb. I thought that

was great. I thought that was fun. Now this species

of whatever they are, they're called - Which

one? The Naughty? Yes, the shell people. Crab

people, crab people look like crabs, taste like

people. No! No, we want them to look like people

and taste like crabs, Dave. We don't want to

be eating. No, no. I guess you're not getting

the South Park reference. No, really not. The

last South Park reference I remember is, knock

off all this tree -hugging hippie crap. That's

the last time I watched South Park. This was

a pretty old episode, because it's been around

30 years. Oh, I am. So I love the naughty species,

because they remind me of the Ewoks. Really?

A little bit, a tiny bit. I don't hate them.

No, I love them. No, no, no. My thing is they

don't remind me of Ewoks at all because they're

technologically, I mean, they have little floating

caravan things. They dress like hobbits. They're

cute. I mean, look, they're cute and I like them.

My problem with the naughty and then the other

guys, the samurai Tusken Raiders, The dudes in

the red samurai armor that make Tusken Raider

noises and function in the same way as Tusken

Raiders, and are basically Tusken Raiders in

every way, except they have red samurai armor,

is that just everything in the other galaxy could

be in the regular Star Wars gout. There's nothing

new or different or interesting. It's like the

naughty could be on any Star Wars planet, you

know? It's like, we're in another galaxy. We've

traveled. An unthinkable distance, and we have

cute little Ewoks dressed with hobbit clothes

and little caravans and literal Tusken Raider

knockoffs. And the planet looks like they could

be filming an episode of Doctor Who. It looks

like a quarry in England. Like, there is nothing

special or unique or interesting in this other

galaxy! Like, this is the ultimate womp -womp

moment. I just think the reason why the other

galaxy exists is because they wanted to find

a way to incorporate the story from Rebels, where

Thrawn and Ezra disappeared. Yeah, it's an arbitrary

distance that's hard to traverse. Right. If it

was a fantasy thing, he could be banished to

the other side of the mountain, to the other

side of the ocean. It's just an arbitrary thing,

but like... There's nothing special about it

like you get there and it's just it's nothing

special Yeah, like it's a whole other guy. I

mean, it's kind of ironically Like I said, I

was rewatching D space 9 or watching D space

9 like the gamma quadrant It's kind of a big

wet fart until the Dominion show up. It's just

like you're in this new unique place and It's

the same old place but you know It was just like

it was such a huge disappointment like every

every time I got excited One of the reasons I

really don't like the show is every time they

managed to convince me to get excited or invested

in anything There was always a cheap letdown

We're going to another galaxy Like the first

time in Star Wars history. We're in like they've

never even done that in Star Trek I don't think

they've ever gone to another galaxy like the

distances involved are so vast and it's so new

and unique and amazing and it's just a generic

Scrub blush scrub brush planet with with one

decent new species but nothing unique or fascinating

or strange or weird or it's also just Basic so

the way I see it now that you're saying this

It's the Phantom Zone It's a place of banishment

we are not supposed to be exploring this other

galaxy Ezra and Thrawn disappeared with the Purgil

and this is where they ended up. This planet

essentially is the Phantom Zone from Superman

because they say, Thrawn says, that that's the

whole plan. We have to escape this galaxy. We

have to leave here. We have to get back to the

real galaxy. Well, because there's nothing there.

Right. Apparently, like it's dead. I mean, it's

got a couple of like... low -level Primitives,

but you know In theory Thrawn should be thrilled

to be there cuz like it cuz he's got a starter

story He could be a king, you know gonna have

to deal with anybody else messing with them Like

you you're the guy with a starter story in a

galaxy full of the Ewoks Like you could rule

as a god. I mean, what do you even want to come

back? No, I just want him to sing and I just

can't wait to be king And this is funny, because

someone pointed this out real butthurt about

Thrawn's characterization, because Thrawn apparently

wasn't a big fan of the Empire per se. He was

into the Empire for his own purposes. But at

the end of the episode, he goes, long live the

Empire. So it's a completely different character

than the character that fans knew and liked.

Yeah, it is what it is, I guess. Kino, they're

on a name only. I was gonna say, or as I call

him, Grand Admiral Stupid. Yep. I feel like at

the end of episode eight, and I know you keep

mentioning about this movie that they're doing

and whatever, I'm not the one who's mentioning

the movie. Well, I am mentioning it, but I'm

not the one who made it up. I didn't pull it

out of my ass. No, I know. No, that's why. I

mean, they're making like 500 movies. Don't you

pay attention? They're still making the Taiko

Matini movies. They're probably still making

the ones with the Game of Thrones guys. They're

making the ones with Bryan Johnson. And then

they're not making them. And then they're going

to make them. And then they're not going to make

them. And then they're going to announce them.

And then they're not going to announce them.

Like the plan at Celebration was three movies.

There was a movie set in the deep past, and I

can't remember who, I think the guy who did Indiana

Jones, Dale Desi was supposed to do that one.

And that was like the founding of the Jedi Order.

It almost seemed like there was a plan for this.

And again, they almost got me interested. So

the first movie was the founding of the Jedi

Order, you know, a thousand generations ago.

The next movie was the Mandoverse wrap up. Right.

The the current times of the Jedi and you know,

the rebirth of the Jedi whatever and then the

next one was the ray movie Probably with Grogu

because people like Grogu there was gonna be

like rays movie. Yeah, I think they're they're

they're pretty It seems like they're pretty stuck

on the ray one like they're really Determined

to try to do that one as opposed to all the other

projects that they announced and then cancel

now couple of things number one Kathleen Kennedy

very quietly had her contract renegotiated this

last month. Like there's been no follow up and

no announcements on that, but that was going

on during the strike. His contract was up and

she had to renegotiate. Number two is Disney

has no money and needs $20 billion to buy Hulu.

Number three, Ahsoka cost $200 million. And I

know that a lot of the Disney plus Star Wars

shows have their money funneled into The other

thing that we the the acolyte Yeah, there's been

a lot of money under the table going to the acolyte

and Ahsoka has got crap ratings Like they've

they've they've tried that box open and they've

looked in there and they Ahsoka doesn't really

have good ratings so I Would absolutely 100 %

set your heart on seeing this wrapped up in a

movie. Absolutely 1000 % that's fine Because

that's called that's called sarcasm Well, if

it is I don't think there's gonna be a movie

I Don't know. I don't think there's gonna be

any follow -up to this. I see that's what makes

me upset because the after watching episode 8

like three so I Mentioned this to you offline

when we were discussing doing this, this next

Star Wars thing we're doing here, that in part

of this podcast, I was gonna go on a rant. I

forget which episode it was, five, six, seven,

eight, it doesn't matter, put on your dance shoes

and start tapping or whatever the hell. But I

pay a good amount every month for very fast internet

from Comcast, Xfinity, whatever the hell they're

called, NBC, whatever. And that money is... I

budget that money out as a bill every month and

I pay the bill every month like I pay all my

other bills every month on time, everything else.

I live in a town. Town I live in is not small,

small, but it's smaller than most towns I've

lived in. I've, you know, lived in Louisville.

I've lived in, well, Gurney, Illinois might be

smaller. I don't know. I don't remember, but

I've lived in Chicago. I've lived in other places,

but the town I live in now is just under like

55 ,000 people for a population as of 2021. I

know that was two years ago, but it's still pretty

much accurate. The point is made. Yeah, nobody's

going to move here. So Smallish Town throughout

trying to watch these episodes the night that

they premiered on Tano Tuesdays, almost every

one of the four episodes, every time the last

month I've tried to watch it when it first is

on the service. My internet would crap out The

last time you and I and Josh recorded a toy cast

literally as soon as we hung up from recording

that episode My internet crapped out. I'm on

the phone with Comcast. I'm on the phone with

Xfinity I'm like resetting my modem. I'm doing

this I'm doing that and half of the time it I'm

only trying to watch Ahsoka so Other than the

fact of my normal neuroses of having to watch

things two or three times to make sure they're

fresh in my mind to podcast about them the sheer

enjoyment of trying to watch it just to like

soak it in at the time really was like out the

fucking window so Liked certain parts of this

series and I felt at the end is the same way

I felt in 1987 because 1987 was the year that

I first saw Star Wars I was seven years old I

saw it on a VHS and They all get medals at the

end and boom Bob's your uncle story over question

mark You and I have talked about this before.

Star Wars was supposed to be just a one, at least

originally. Most movies are one -off. In the

case of Star Wars, Lucas had a much bigger, more

ambitious original script. He just cut part of

it out. That's an important point because that's

part of the reason that the next two films worked

as well as they did. And that's also kind of

why Return of the Jedi had a little bit of a,

like there was another Death Star, you know,

because it was like, okay, well that was the

finale of the whole thing was supposed to be

the Death Star. But, you know, it wasn't like

he had to like pull something out of his ass.

Where do we go from here? Yeah. Well, that's

the way I, I love that you phrased it that way.

That's the way I felt at the end of episode eight

was, wait, that's it? We're done? is the same

way I felt 40 years ago in 1987 when I saw Star

Wars for the first time as a seven -year -old

kid. I'm like, wait, they get trophies and everybody

goes home? Ahsoka, season eight? Or season eight,

wow. Season one, episode eight. Wait, I don't

want to be hanging off this cliff. Resolve it,

damn it. Give us an episode nine or something.

Did I or did I not post on Facebook? You did.

Are your testicles as blue as Grand Admiral Thrawn's?

Because I knew, because I knew what the plan

was. The plan, this is all, Ahsoka, the series

is homework for the movie. It's, it's, it's the

setup for the movie. Yeah. And there was no like,

and the worst part is like, I thought I really,

naive, stupid me, I thought at least Bailin's

story would get resolution. And Bailin has like

two fucking, like maybe has 20 seconds of screen

time in the final episode. Where he's standing

on some mountains, and I had to watch a separate

video, like where people were talking about the

show, to know what the significance of those

stupid mountains even was, because I just thought

they were ripping off Lord of the Rings again.

But like now I know what they are, and the irony

is I saw that episode of Clone Wars, with the

stupid family. But I didn't recognize them. Who

remembers what they... Who is that obsessed with

Star Wars iconography or even Clone Wars iconography

that they knew immediately who these characters

were just based on their Argonath knockoff statues?

And of course, there's a gap here because the

one character is missing and she's going to be

Aboleth and blah, blah, blah. And I don't know

who Aboleth is. All I know is Aboleths are a

big fucking... Squid monster and D &D with a

big eye that eat people like that's an abble

left to me. Like it just the names never mentioned

I mean everything's hinted like everything's

hinted at everything suggested, you know, Thrawn

has a whole cargo hold full of boxes of something

Yeah, everybody has a theory of what's in those

boxes Just like everybody had a theory of who

Malik was or who that one guy that the third

guy with the Inquisitor lightsaber remember who

got killed and was just for gas Oh, and I got

taken to task for calling stuff fart gas. I mean,

it was green gas. I mean, the room was full of

farts. Yeah, it did. Back to life. Yeah. Is it

not the most unfortunate looking special effect

ever? Yeah. Like it's just. Every mystery is

stupid and pointless and has like a very like

has the least people. I mean, people are writing

articles about who that guy was. He's really

Ezra and he's been turned to the dark side. He's

really the guy from the video games. No, he was

just some random guy who was brought back to

life by by witchcraft and just got dispatched

with no point like these these boxes these these

JJ Abrams has mystery boxes in the Star Destroyer.

What are they? Who cares? I guess they're Nightsisters?

Is what everyone's saying. Yeah, because Dathomir

doesn't have Nightsisters, which I didn't know.

I guess you had to watch the show for that. Yeah.

Yeah, it's the it's a weird Cuz my brain cuz

cuz I remember old and I appreciate that Disney

threw out all the old continuity But like the

night sisters were introduced in courtship of

Princess Leia which takes place after return

of the Jedi and there are night sisters in them

and then I played Star Wars galaxies which takes

place after Star Wars take place between Star

Wars and Empire and there were night sisters

on Dathomir So this whole idea that they all

got like killed off in the Clone Wars or something

That's that's new to me. Like I I didn't know

that But again, it doesn't matter because the

show gives you no the show doesn't tell you what

Dathomir is Why you should care about it and

it doesn't tell you what's in the boxes like

like we're gonna have to wait for a surprise

Like and here is this whole here's why my attitude

is like this in a nutshell at the very end of

the show Imperial like not an old -school Imperial

shuttle lands on the deck I don't know if it's

home one or just like a republic cruiser and

Hera and Chopper and all these I think the other

guys there the pilot guy they're all they have

they all got their guns out the shuttle the the

landing ramp opens now I'm sitting here thinking

oh this is kind of cool like like Thrawn's gonna

announce himself to the galaxy and say you this

is your chance to surrender to me like this is

the one chance you get and a night trooper walks

out and you're like, okay. And then he takes

off his helmet and it's Ezra. Okay, why was he

still wearing the fucking outfit? It was for

the audience to be guessing until he takes off

the helmet and have the reveal for the audience,

as opposed to like his friend who was about to

shoot him because he was wearing a costume he

didn't need to wear at that point. No, he had

to wear it. Why? On the shuttle? Yeah, so...

What? Yeah, so the whole point of the end of

the series here is for Ezra to get home. Uh -huh.

That's what they were trying... Well, that was

one point. The other point was to stop Ron. Well,

obviously, yes. I mean, that's the... Yeah, but

like... the the the subtext or the no no there

are two goals and one of them was achieved right

so but what happens is is that when they're doing

I know I'm I know I'm skipping stuff from the

episode Ezra is able to get on board the Chimera

right next to a dead body he obviously puts the

stormtrooper on so that he's not discovered during

the flight back to our galaxy right that I understand

all that but then he steals a shuttle Why does

he still need to wear the armor in the shuttle?

Because he has to fly out of the thing where

the rest of the evil people are? Okay, once he's

clear of the evil people, he'll still have to

wear the armor. Okay, because in the cartoons...

What? In the cartoons... He went undercover as...

So? So? So? So? So? So? So? So? So? So? So? So?

So? So? So? So? So? So? So? So? So? So? So? So?

There is no logic for that because this series

is for the fans. It was fan service. I'm a fan

and I like logic. I like stories that make sense.

Look, in Rogue One when Darth Vader shows up

and like wipes the walls with those rebel troopers,

it's fan service. But you know what? It makes

sense for Vader to be trying to get a hold of

the plans. Like, logically, he's the most effective

tool they have. And he almost does it. He almost

gets the plans. The 10 of E4 barely gets away.

Like, that's fan service, but that also makes

some kind of sense within the world that it exists.

Because it's not just, like, a cool reveal. Like,

he puts himself at risk for this cheap reveal.

You understand? These guys have guns, and they're

twitchy, and like... If one person like is like

that one guy in like two towers who shoots his

arrow prematurely Ezra is dead and it's all for

nothing Well, it's a good thing that wasn't in

this show There's no purpose other than for the

audience that you can't do things just for the

audience It's like like why wasn't from why didn't

run out of the ship at the pillar? Loaded up

to begin with because they could have the reveal

of the chimera flying at them for the audience.

It makes no sense tactically. The tactical genius

does something for the audience to go, oh, look,

it's a cool Star Destroyer. Neat. It's all beat

up. Like, he should have had that ship loaded

and ready to go and at that space ring before

Ahsoka even got there. But the tactical genius

shows up, loads up his ship very slowly, has

to send a couple of stupid -looking gunships

to sacrifice troops to waste their time. Right

waste a guy's time. That's it's a victory because

he wasted their time slightly But he wasn't a

victory because even though their time was wasted

and even though their ship was shut down He still

was attached to a fucking ground point, which

they were able to access And despite the fact

that every stairwell landing had blast doors

were not closed as they worked their way up and

One of their number was able to get aboard his

ship When he could have just like he could have

been gone by then But he did everything just

stupid because the story needed them to be able

to get access to the ship. Yeah. Okay. That's

not good storytelling. That's that's cheap storytelling.

The story needed Ezra to be able to get on the

ship so that Ezra could almost be murdered by

his own friends at the end because he wanted

to pull a little surprise. Me eat Ezra. You remember

when I used to wear Stormtrooper armor back in

the day? Bam. Oops. Sorry. Sorry. Another thing.

In episode seven, Ezra is all about, I don't

need no lightsabers. Episode eight begins with

Ezra having a lightsaber constructed. What happened?

What happened? Ezra was like, I don't need lightsabers,

I have the force. And then he's like, I want

to build a lightsaber. And Hwang's like, well,

I just have the exact same parts that I use for

your master's lightsaber. Randomly, in the shuttle.

40 years later He's like, oh boy. Well now I

need a lightsaber. Well, I'm sorry Was there

a different were there two Ezra's I didn't watch

rebels. Are there two Ezra's? No, okay Same guy

who just did a 180 on his beliefs about the force,

right? Probably as far as I know. Yeah Well because

they needed Ezra to have a lightsaber so they

can have a lightsaber toy to sell Yeah, they

get accessories for the Ezra action figure to

have for that stupid bonding moment between Hwang

and Ezra where they've got the exact little curve

bit you put on the end, which is impossible to

fabricate exactly the same way because it's just

a bit of metal. I understand the concept of fan

service. I own a copy of Picard Season 3. I get

it. That's not good storytelling. You could do

fan service and storytelling at the same time.

If you do it well, you don't even realize that

you're being serviced. It's the line from Futurama

that God has to bender. If you do your job right,

they won't even know you're doing it at all.

I don't know what to tell you. Look, I want to

be clear about something. I'm not trying to pick

on you. I know you're not. But you're the guy

that's a little more positive about it. Part

of this was I genuinely wanted to hear if there

were answers because I don't always know. Like

I said, I skipped over a chunk of the episode.

I sometimes am not always paying the closest

attention. You know, I really want to know if

there's an explanation for something, I want

to hear it. And the other thing is I want to

be clear. If someone likes this show, I'm not

saying you're stupid or wrong or bad. You know,

I actually think there's there's enough. I mean,

they spent 200 million fucking dollars on the

show. It looks good. The first couple of episodes

almost had me going like I can see if someone

like, you know, you watched all the shows, so

you've got It had more like for someone like

you who was a fan of rebels and Clone Wars Like

there's there's it's not a right or wrong liking

this show. Mm -hmm I think there is some fair

arguments about the writing of the show and the

quality of the show. Well, there's a joint it

You're not wrong. Yeah, but as a lifelong Star

Wars fan It really just made me realize it's

time to put the chairs on the table and call

it a day. And I agree with you for the most part.

Like, yes. Which is sad because you're supposed

to be the guy that's like defending this thing.

I mean, I will defend it for the parts that I

enjoy. You are the Fritz Weaver -Cardassian defense

attorney, sir. Which is like the guy who's basically

like his whole role as defense attorney is to

get O 'Brien to like basically just confess on

the stand that he committed the crime because

it's good for society. He was the worst defense

attorney ever. Well, I mean, let's face it, O

'Brien probably committed the crime. No, he didn't.

He was completely innocent. That was the whole

point, was that the Cardassian courts are a kangaroo

court. Ah, yes. The whole thing is that the trial

is basically just so that the defendant can confess

that he's a criminal and throw himself on the

mercy of the court, who will then execute him,

and it's all for the good of Cardassian society.

Oh, Lord. But unfortunately, things go wrong,

and Fritz Weber wins in the end, and he's very

upset about that. It's the only case he ever

wins. He's like, oh no, my reputation. So I think

one of the reasons why as much as I have had

and still had excitement for this show and events

that happened in this show, the reason why I'm

kind of coming off sounding so negative about

it is because the feeling I mentioned earlier.

Oh, because it was a pain in the ass to watch.

No. No, I thought that's what you're saying is

no, it was a real pain in the ass because the

cable No, no, no, not that the feeling I had

40 years ago in 1987 of Wait, that's it. Like

they didn't even There's how did you survive

Empire? Well, I guess because you were watching

it on video. You could just watch the next video

Yeah, I can watch some of us had to wait three

fucking years Yes, well, I can't help that you're

older. Anyway, I never had the experience of

even seeing Empire or the Muppet movie in theaters.

Actually, did I see the movie in theaters? I

don't remember. I don't remember there being

Jedi in the Muppet movie. Anyway, but that's

my problem with the fact that Ahsoka is now over

is that we essentially have Like I'm not expecting

it to be tied up in a nice little bow but like

give us something and I don't want to have to

wait for a potential whatever movie it is or

whatever if they switch back and go back to animation

fine Do that. I don't care but we need to finish

the story somehow That's why I'm kind of like

so good. Damn it There are plenty of things I

liked and plenty of moments I liked but as far

as the I agree with you about the right the writing

is odd Some of its good Writing I would give

95 % bad 5 % good and the 5 % good is like the

moments that Anyone who was a fan of the other

things wanted to see The only explanation I can

give you for and this isn't even a logical explanation

because apparently I don't deal in logical explanations

for Ezra not taking off the uniform is they want

to show, as I mentioned before, because he used

to dress up as a stormtrooper in the cartoon.

But that's not his reason. No. That's Dave Filoni's

reason. Right. But the only reason I can think,

again, like you mentioned, Dave Filoni, whatever,

I don't know what Ezra's reason was. The only

reason I can think of is they wanted to... No,

they wanted that moment where he pulls off that...

It's a cheap surprise. It's a Luke. It's a Luke

and Han. It's Stormtrooper Luke. When they go

to rescue Leia. It's a cheap thing, where it's

like, oh, there's tension and then a surprise.

It was for the story, not for the characters.

It doesn't happen organically. I don't have time

for that. It's annoying. But it is. It's dumb.

Yeah, I agree. I'm not disagreeing. I just...

I mean, this is the problem I have with Thrawn.

I've seen plenty of reviews that have basically

said this perfectly, which is that if you create

a smart character, you need to be a smart writer.

Stupid people can't write smart characters. And

if you're not that smart, then get two or three

other people and like, you know, sort of... you

know, throw ideas back off of each other, you

know, and eventually you can come up with something.

Because Thron comes off as an idiot at every

level. He doesn't come off as a threat. He comes

off as the perfect match for a new republic that

uses their best SNL alumni in leadership positions.

Like he is the ultimate adversary for the ladies

man at Fleet Command. Yep. And Senator Stupid.

Assuming Senator Stupid is just stupid and not

an actual obvious Imperial agent. And here's

the kicker, my friends, because we had this conversation

earlier about Leia and 3PO and you're confused

about the timeline. He fails. We know Thrawn

fails because the New Republic is still around

20 years later to be blown up by whatever the

hell it was called, that planet Death Star knockoff

thing. Yeah. What the hell was that called? But

I don't know but he doesn't take out the New

Republic. Yeah, he fails in his now. Maybe he

Again, the fan the fanboys fanboys do like twice

the work that Filoni does Oh, he'll lay the seeds

for the for the new order blah blah blah blah,

but okay But that's not a very interesting movie

Laying this like the reason that you you you

start the movie with the plants already blossoming

and not with them laying the seeds Because that's

the interesting shit Like he fights a war he'll

have this whole war and he'll lose now to be

fair One of the one of the things we do with

this kind of fiction is we always kind of go

into it Yeah, the bad guys usually lose bad guys

almost always lose in the end. That's that's

how it works The trick is to get you to believe

that there's a threat to be invested You know,

sometimes you have like like when you have a

big cast you have characters that can be sacrificed

along the way So you feel the pain, you know

Like, it's always about a willing suspension

of disbelief. The example I used, I just recently

watched Jurassic Park recently. And I remember

the first time I watched that, like during the

kitchen scene, I was like, oh, Steven Spielberg's

not gonna kill those kids. Like, Spielberg's

not gonna kill a couple of kids in a movie. And

then the second velociraptor comes in, I'm like,

oh my God, those kids are dead. Like, how do

you get out of that? Like, your brain just goes,

they can't escape two fucking velociraptors.

This is crazy. And they do somehow. But that's

the fun is that moment your brain goes, how are

they going to do this? Like with with end game,

you know, it's like, oh, well, they're going

to go find Thanos and blah, blah, blah. And then

Thanos is like, oh, I've screwed you over because

I've already gotten rid of the it's like, what

are you going to do? Like, I mean, that's part

of the fun is what are you going to like, you

know, he's going to lose. But how the how of

it is the fun and not being able to know two

steps away. But the problem is We already know

that Thrawn's gonna lose because we already know

historically there's someone else comes along,

you know, and then it becomes like the the prequel

problem where we already know what happens. So

you've got to tell it in a way that's really

engaging, you know, like like Titanic, like,

you know, everybody knew the ship sank. And that's

why that's why everything focused on Jack and

Rose. And actually, I think you knew you knew

Rose survived. Yeah, but but you didn't know

what happened to Jack and like somehow. Like

Cameron made us care enough about about Leonardo

fucking DiCaprio of all people Yeah, like I actually

I actually was kind of like invested in what

happened to that character and then that bitch

hogged up the fucking door and he froze to death

but like That's what you do. You focus on a character

whose fate you don't know you focus on things

you don't know and The history plays out around

you like that was one of the things that I liked

about the original Clone Wars Was Ahsoka was

the X Factor? Mm -hmm. We didn't know her. We

didn't know what happened to her. That was the

genius of Clone Wars was you had a character

whose fate was not written in stone And I think

that was what disappointed me was that when she

finally confronted Vader They did the big world

between worlds cheat to save her because that

was the moment I was really That for me that

was what that whole show was building towards

was the moment when the apprentice discovers

that her master becomes Darth Vader And it was

kind of like I let down. So what I'm saying is

you You have to bring your A -game to this continuation

of this story, because otherwise it's just going

to be a huge, even a bigger waste of time than

this show was, because he loses. We know he loses.

We know he does not beat the New Empire or the

New Republic. Same difference, New Empire, New

Republic. They're idiot monsters. Actually, the

Empire was better than them. We know he fails.

You have to do something to keep us invested.

I you know when you can't even justify Ezra's

actions beyond saying it's a callback to a thing

in the show Mm -hmm. I don't think they have

the writing chops to pull off a story like that

that keeps you engaged Like who is he almost

gonna win? Is this this where he almost pulls

it off? Like because he can't because we already

know cuz and we know that they doggedly will

not undo the sequel trilogy Yeah, better for

worse. They're they're locked into the sequel

trilogy, which means Ron loses period either

lose maybe he goes off the Maybe he loses then

he goes off to lick his wounds in the mystery

space and finds Palpatine Maybe that's probably

how the movie ends. He finds Palpatine in the

what was the Exegol? He goes to Exegol again

to lick his wounds and that's where that whole

thing like that's how that'll end and by the

way one speaking of Dave's predictions I Said

at the very end Sabine will use the force even

though the entire show is established that she

sucks at the force She will use the force to

call something to her and she called the fucking

lightsaber like i knew it yeah this is how writing

works yeah like i'm not i'm not i'm not i don't

i'm not happy to be right about it like i i wanted

i want no i want i don't go into these things

looking to find because i know that there's like

this whole cottage industry on the on the net

about like griping about things hating on things

I know some people, I can name names, who deliberately

play up their, I'm angry at these people things,

because that's what the followers like. People

like angry rants, people like people being hostile,

and all this political stuff. I want a good experience.

I never go into a movie not wanting to be entertained.

I never watch a TV show not wanting to be entertained.

I never go into it going, sharpening my knives.

I can't wait to take this bad boy down. You're

not a hate watcher. I want to enjoy my time that

I spend. I said to a friend today, I just want

to be able to invest my enthusiasm, my interest,

my passion into something and not feel like I'm

being played like a sucker. And that's ultimately

what the Soka series left me feeling like is

that I was played for a sucker for caring about

this show. Yeah, I want not on this podcast on

a different podcast eventually that we have here

at the Empire. I want to do a podcast episode

on why people like exploring the the the idea

of why people hate watch. I don't know if I'm

not into like. Say perfect example and I've said

this in probably this show and many other podcasts

in the last 15 years I've been doing this stuff.

I was 14 years old. My dad was a mechanic. He'd

been a mechanic all his life He usually worked

at like but you know like charter bus companies

and school bus companies things like that and

With the charter bus companies when you have

a busload of old people and when I say old people

I mean like 60 70 80 year olds that end up in

the casinos When you have a busload of old people

going from Louisville, Kentucky to Nashville

or to Gatlinburg to Gamble or whatever they end

up leaving stuff on the bus by accident whatever

else and if the Nobody claims it after two weeks

or whatever it was Dad as long as it was something

that dad thought that I would be interested in

he would bring it home he brought home a copy

of Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring How

old are you? I'm 43 Okay, like you would been

old enough to like See that in the theater. Oh,

yeah, I know that was like in the 2000s, bro

Yeah, no, I'm talking about the book though.

Oh Not the movie the book so yeah, you can't

leave a movie that isn't even out yet on the

bus. I didn't know the timeline. I'm so used

to all these filthy children around me all the

time. Sorry, I'll go take a shower now. So it's

1994. I'm 14 years old. My dad brings home this

copy of the book, Lord of the Rings, Fellowship

of the Ring. I'm 14, I'm a fairly decent reader,

I'm in middle school, whatever, I forget if it

was sixth, seventh, I was probably seventh and

eighth grade. Yeah, it was, I was seventh and

eighth grade. And I start reading The Fellowship

of the Ring. I stopped after his eleventy -first

birthday. Okay. That's how far I got in that

book. the line they say like how they're celebrating

Bilbo's birthday and it's his 11th like I'm like

11 before what if at 14 I'm like, what's 11 first?

He's 111 years old. He's turning hot like God

and I've never looked back. I have no ill will

towards Lord of the Rings I have no like it's

just not for me have no way so I can completely

understand why somebody might be turned off to

something, but I'm not going, again, the whole

point of bringing up that story is the whole

hate watching or hate listening or hate reading.

Why are you going to waste your time on something

you know you probably aren't going to like? Well,

okay, I would argue that some people, because

I'm a big fan of a channel called Red Letter

Media, I think there is... Not necessarily hate

watching per se, but I think there is, you know,

like if you're watching something that's like

bad, it's fun, you know, like you get entertainment

from how cheesy it is or how bad it is, you know,

if you like bad, there are people who enjoy bad

movies. Oh yeah, no, absolutely. But I think

they enjoy, I think, I think hate watchers kind

of get pleasure from hating on it. Like I think

it's a subset of that. It's not the same thing,

but I think it's a subset. Yeah. Well, the whole

point of hate -watching something is just so

you know that, like, you've watched it so you

can say things to everybody. Like, I'm not gonna

say anything to you about Lord of the Rings,

any of the movies, because I've never seen them.

Like, why would I have a conversation? Not just

you specifically, Dave, but anyone. Why would

I have a conversation? But I'm not gonna go sit

here and waste 9, 10, 14, 20 hours of my life

Watching these movies Just so I can say I watched

them and I didn't like them that's the thing

about the hate -watching thing is like I'm gonna

watch this just because and then I'm gonna hate

on it just because and I have no reason I'm like

I have plenty of no reasons of why I do or don't

do things but I'm just not gonna wait my whole

point is if I Again, I go by trailers. If a trailer

excites me, like literally, I said this in part

one of this Ahsoka thing, I watched almost every

single clip the Star Wars YouTube channel put

out for this show because I wanted to see how

cool it was gonna be. And in the end, overall,

I enjoyed Ahsoka. However, as we've said in the

last hour, hour and a half, There are plenty

of things wrong with it, and that's what sucks

about it. Well, what's interesting to me is,

because you seem to be the kind of person who

says you have to take everything as a whole,

right? Like, you wanted to discuss Ahsoka as

a whole before you made your judgment on it,

right? Yep. Yep. But you also agree that they

botched the ending. Yeah. Like, and I don't like,

to me it's like, I don't know, it's just weird.

It's like, Yeah, I liked it but the ending like

the ending is such an important. I don't think

people understand how important endings are to

stories But man, they botched the ending on this

like how can I whatever review I would have whatever?

Grade I would have given it before the ending

just knocks it down even worse Yeah, but to go

back to like the hate watching like yeah I agree

like I think a lot of hate watching is if something's

trendy or popular and you don't like it But you

just want to be that guy that like brings up

everything wrong with it. Like I don't want Be

the guy that's like pissing on people's Ahsoka

parade. Like this is like you wanted to have

a conversation about Ahsoka with a Star Wars

fan You got what you got I want people listening

to go like cuz I said before I don't people go

Oh this guy this random guy on the internet thinks

I'm a jerk because I like the show I'm not saying

that like I personally did not enjoy it. I think

it has a lot I think it's I think there's a lot

of talent and money that went into it, but I

also think that The critical thing was the writing

and that failed and it fails characters It's

the reason why Ahsoka is failing and failed Thrawn

Thrawn and the night throng got like fucked up.

Yeah, they did not do thron, right? No, they're

not a threat at all No, like the like their joke

the most threatening thing the night sisters

did was turn the token female character, new

character, I don't know if she's new or whatever,

but Morgan. Yeah, she was in Mandalorian Season

2. OK, well, I don't remember that. She had the

spirit. She was in the episode with Ahsoka and

Michael May. Oh, OK. OK, now I remember. That's

when their first name dropped Thrawn. Right.

OK, got it. But like, so they take her, they

make her a grandmother or whatever. Yeah. Whatever

the fuck. that they do that to her, that's probably

the most evil thing they did in all eight episodes.

Like, Thrawn was more tactical and more everything

in the cartoon series that you didn't watch,

and I understand that, and I'm sorry. Maybe you

should give it a try if you want to, but if you

don't want to, that's fine too. But it's one

of those things where he was more of a threat

in the cartoon than he, like, they, did they

feel like, and I know Dave is, I know Mr. Filoni

is working on this, how did this get passed?

That's what I understand. He's working on the

thing on the character that he did so well in

those cartoon series and They feel like they

have to water him down This isn't 1980 something

where you only have three television networks

that you could put this on that you have to Bleep

every other word or every other scene or put

you know Pixels on whatever because oh my god

something violent happened. This is Disney Plus

for crap sake I mean supposedly though there

are like like Disney Plus does have rules, which

is why I like nobody gets their arms chopped

off Well, okay, right, but honestly, that's something

in Star Wars. I'm so sick of like Well, that's

why race sucks cuz she never got an arm chopped

off She's not a real Skywalker. She's got both

her limbs Okay, I'm jumping so far ahead into

2024 when we eventually get to that but I You

said that and my first evil thought in my head

is can we just make her a quadriplegic, please?

I Know I know that's wrong and I'm so sorry,

but like I don't know Is Ahsoka Something I will

go back and watch No. I liked it. I like certain

aspects of it. I like the, I don't want to say

continuity, but I like the callbacks to certain

things. I like that we got to have a moment with

Hayden and Rosario because that was the other

thing when this whole thing happened of, oh,

Hayden's coming back. Hayden's going to be, it

was like 15 years ago. when they were on some

award stage or something and she was this age

and he was this age it was like this reminiscent

thing of when they first met kind of thing and

I was like oh okay that's cool but I keep seeing

that I keep seeing that and I keep seeing all

this stuff but in general I'm just gonna rate

the damn thing zero to five with half points

I would probably give Ahsoka a two and a half

out of five okay Just to quickly address what

you were saying, I didn't have any, everything

that you said I don't have a problem with. But

like, that can't just be it. You know what I

mean? No, but it can't just be, like references

are great. And you don't even have to get that,

like I'm fine not getting the references, but

you can't rely on the references. You know what

I mean? Like you can't rely on, nobody knows

who Ezra is, unless you've watched Rebels. And

you need to know who Ezra is. Yeah. And the funny

thing is, there's this whole history between

Sabine and Ahsoka that wasn't even in fucking

Rebels. Yeah, it wasn't there. That's literally

the whole not shown. Like even the Rebels fans

are like, wait, what? Yeah. So I will say that

I liked, just to be a little positive, when I

first started watching it, I really feel like

this was the first Disney Star Wars that nailed

the feel. Like they got the it's a weird thing

to compliment the editing but they got the editing

right, you know They have those those wipes and

those like the way they did the editing was right

the way they had the music put into The show

is right. There was a lot of music. I Don't know

how to explain it. But like like it felt like

watching a Star Wars thing Yeah, and that was

it. That was a good feeling. I think there was

a lot of money put into it I think it looked

good, you know, some of the references I got

like the Ewing Starfighters I was like those

are the E wings from Dark Empire. I Hate them.

I hate the design But it was still kind of cool

to see a live -action Ewing starfighter. Like

the references I got, I enjoyed. And you didn't

need to know, like that's the thing, you didn't

need to know what they were. And in a weird way,

I liked that they were Ewing starfighters because

the fucking sequel trilogy is X -Wings and TIE

fighters. That'll be a big gripe when we get

to the sequel trilogy, is that they regress as

opposed to moving forward. Overall, the writing

sinks it. The assumption that you have to be

familiar with these characters, otherwise the

plot doesn't work. The betrayal of Thrawn. Just

the fact that the one interesting character gets

no resolution. Balin is the only interesting

character and he gets minimal development and

no resolution. And the actor is passed on. So,

you know, middle finger, ha -ha. I was going

to say this earlier. Then we went off on other

things, but yeah, you are 100, I 100 % agree

with you. I'm almost happy we didn't get more

with Balin because of the fact that Ray passed

away. Cause I don't want any, but like, I don't

want them to AI this and oh, he's really here

or this. And we'll get to that when we get to,

is it rise of Skywalker? They AI. Leia in there.

Yes. Yeah. Okay, that's fine. But my point is,

is that I don't want whatever happens with Ahsoka

in the future. I don't want them to pull a Flash

Superman 78. I don't want Christopher. I don't

want that. No. Like, so I'm kind of glad we didn't

get more with Balin. Can I throw out a radical

concept to you? Sure. Less ghosts sword fighting

and actually give him a story that resolves by

the end of the fucking series. I agree Like like

that's a crazy thought to resolve shit within

the time you're given but Yeah, like they didn't

they didn't go that route I really thought he

was gonna do the cyborg thing where he was gonna

find his power You know the thing of the power

that he's searching for and then like be like,

oh wait, this is bad And then it would kill him

the cyborg thing I don't know why I keep comparing

everything to Star Trek. Part of the reasons

that I started rattling off all the stuff I liked,

just one more thing. I actually liked the sequence

with the minefield at the beginning of episode

seven. I kind of thought that was exciting. And

it was different. We hadn't done a minefield

in Star Wars, really, that I could think of.

So that was kind of cool and exciting. It was

kind of lame that the whales all got it. This

sounds cruel, but I kind of wish we'd watched

a whale buy it like they all like fled You know

and then it immediately devolved into a knockoff

of the asteroid field. Yeah, like to the literally

the line We're gonna get pulverized if we stay

out here much longer. They literally copied that

line But I did like that So I'm gonna give it

the reason I was saying good things is to explain

why it's getting two stars as opposed to like

one star And will I visit it again no Like, now

that they're putting stuff on DVD, am I going

to buy the DVDs? No. This will probably be the

first Star Wars thing on official DVD that I

never buy. No. So, if they do it. Yeah, if they

do it. I'm still waiting for Mandalorian. Sure,

real seasons. No, it's coming in December. Season

1 and 2 are coming in December. I'm hoping that

they keep with it until we get Andor, because

I want a legitimate copy of Andor. Not that I

have an illegal copy of Andor, but... Yes. We'll

be quite long. Yes, the GCNR does not promote

any illegal activities or downloading various

things. I don't download because I don't know

how to avoid getting weird Russian spyware. But

you can buy stuff on eBay. Oh yeah, absolutely.

So I gave it a two and a half, you gave it a

two just for clarification. The listening audience,

two and a half, is below average on the GCR Universal

Rating Scale. The cons slightly outweigh the

pros. While the negatives aren't overbearing,

they are far too plentiful to make it worthy

of a recommend. There may be certain redeeming

qualities that are worth your time. However,

the end product leaves you wanting more. Ooh,

see, I wish I hadn't read that. I'm gonna go

with 1 .5. Really? Okay, very well. Are there

redeeming qualities? There are okay qualities.

Do you do you can I can I even recommend it at

all? No, no Like like all the only people I would

recommend the show to are people like you who

have seen All the philony animated stuff, right?

That's that's a relatively small audience, right?

All right. So since Dave is gonna sit alone a

1 .5 Look, I talk me out of it man. No, no, no,

I'm not trying to read you had to read that listing

and say nice things about I'm gonna read both.

So originally he was gonna rate it a two out

of five. A 2 .0 is bad. The positives serve as

a reminder to the latent potential that was never

fulfilled. The product is often a victim of poor

execution and an inability to focus on a clear

path. It fails in large variety of different

areas, but the failures are not to the extreme.

1 .5, which you settled on, really bad. The positives

are few and far between. It has an abundance

of failures, including one or two specific areas

that are overpowering disasters. The areas of

success are minute in their effect. I didn't

write it. I'm just reading it when compared to

the product as a whole. Need to edit that problem

is George you can write this shit, but you can't

say it Oh Harrison Ford Oh Man That's yeah, so

yeah, that's uh, that's a soca folks. So yeah

two and a half and a one and a half folks We

do not recommend a soca as we've said in the

last almost two hours. There were certain things

that I absolutely loved about it, but that was

because, as Dave has already said, I had watched

all the cartoons and whatever else, and I will

never not enjoy, I will always enjoy Rosario

doing Ahsoka as the character, because I know

she loves the character, and she looks so badass

with the dual white lightsabers and all that.

I don't know how to put this. I'm glad she's

fine in the role. I'm glad that she likes the

role. I'm glad that she's not going around like

some other actresses are going around like bad

mouthing the character that she's being paid

to play. That she actually is positive. I like

it when people are positive about, you know,

that's fine. Like that's all cool. That makes

me like Rosario Dawson. That doesn't make me

like the show. That's not the show. That's something

you bring to the show that the show does not

generate. You can argue it shows through in her

performance, but her performance is very subdued.

Her take on the character is very subdued. I

don't have a problem with that, but so what?

In eight episodes of a show that's named after

her name, she didn't really... She didn't do

anything. Yeah, other than the other than that.

Yes, other than being a fallen Jedi and falling

off the cliff and going to the world between

worlds and having a fight with her old master.

Yeah, but like, yeah, she didn't like I took

a screen cap of when she was watching the last

recording and I took the screen cap like right

after the recording shut off. So it's her standing

there with the sabers behind her back or she's

holding them with her wrists. backwards, whatever,

and then Hu Yang comes in. And I love that shot

because I just love really, really cool poses

of Ahsoka or whatever else. But like, yeah, she

didn't really get to do a whole lot. Like, okay,

she flew into a whale's mouth. She flew out of

a whale's mouth. She fought Lady Nightsister.

She fought Balin for like half a second. She

lost to Balin both times. Yeah, true. Yeah, I

don't know. I mean, they basically abandoned

Lady Knight's sister and then blew her up. Because

she was only injured with lightsabers, so I assumed

she was fine. And then Thrawn blew up the platform.

There was one shot that I thought was cool when

all three of them, because Ezra had the blue

and Sabine had the green and Ahsoka had the white.

That was a cool shot. It was a neat visual. I

like that visual. But again, so what? That whole

sequence was dumb and annoying. It was just one

cool shot in one kernel of corn in a sea of poop.

Sorry. Good thing I've never eaten corn in the

cob ever again. All right, folks, we're going

to go to a quick ad break. You're going to hear

some ads and some other stuff. We'll come back

to close the show right after this. Hello Geeks

Star Wars to come as the 12 months of Star Wars

believe as he is at Disney. Yeah, first week

in November. You're not going to record it while

I'm at Disney, are we? No, no, no, no, no, no,

dude. No, no, no, dude. First week in November,

you're at Disney. Yes, second week of November,

half of next month, we are going to be releasing

Star Wars Episode III, Revenge of the Sith, which

we already recorded. But Dave, at that time,

when it releases, will be at Disney and he will

be on Galaxy's Edge. He will be on the edge of

the galaxy. If we release it on the 8th, yes.

Yes. Well, there you go. November 8th, 2023,

candy commercials. And you and I talked about

this last Ahsoka episode. Youfraidycat, it's

Halloween with candy coated commercials is the

long ass podcast title I decided to title that

episode. So that's what's coming up here on the

podcast through the beginning of November. We

also have a 25th anniversary of Metal Gear Solid.
