About this Episode

Hosts TFG1Mike and Steve Megatron announce their new project reviewing the classic 90s sitcom Boy Meets World and its sequel series, Girl Meets World. They discuss their history with the show, how they plan to tackle the series in episodic blocks, and their goals for this limited-run review series launching in late 2016. The hosts share their personal connections to the characters and the unique appeal of the series as a staple of 90s television.

You are listening to Podcaster Meets World. You

kids and your water warriors, I'd love to join

you but I'm having way too much fun here. You're

bailing on the water war? Don't you have detention

Friday? Don't worry about detention. I can handle

Feeny. Feeny loves me. Feeny hates you. Well,

it's one of the two. Good morning, Mr. Feeny.

Good morning, Mr. Matthews. A candy bar? Doesn't

your mother feed you a proper breakfast? oh yeah

she does now i gotta get the taste of this shredded

weed out of my mouth hello and welcome to podcaster

meets world what world the world of the podcasters

where it spins round and round and round baseball

bats and trailer parks and So, ladies and gentlemen,

this is episode zero of Podcaster Meets World.

I am TF2 and Mike and you are? Obviously Steve

Megatron. Obviously. You know what's really funny?

What? Is that since I've had this idea since

the whole debacle of Boy Meets World coming in

at number 50 on the Top 100 television series

countdown... The more and more I think about

it, you are Cory and I am Sean. Because you have

the wife and the two kids and I just currently

have a girlfriend. Should I be worried about

the whole... What? The whole comparisons? Not

really. It's more of a compliment than anything

else. I mean... They want you to take the roles.

All right, folks. So you might be wondering,

what the hell is Podcaster Meets World? So for

years and years and years and years and years

now, Telecast has been around and around and

around and around, but we've never actually gotten

to do anything past season one. That's whatever

it is. Remote Control, our other TV podcast,

is a current generation TV podcast. Anything

2000 to whatever now is. And... I wanted something

this year for Steve and I to do that would be

really fun, something we both love, something

that wasn't Transformers, something that wasn't

Batman, something that wasn't whatever, whatever,

you know. And with Boy Meets World coming in

at number 50 and everybody on the countdown and

on the website and everything else, basically

just railing against the show and saying, oh,

it's just another 90s sitcom. I figured, okay.

Let's do this right, okay? And we'll get into

the specifics of what the podcast will be a little

bit later, but Boy Meets World, what it is, what

it was, what it will forever be, what are your

kind of first memories of watching the show?

Do you remember the first, did you watch from

the very beginning as a kid or, okay? I was,

I was one of those victims of TGIF. And that

was like my favorite show, you know, so Now Boy

Meets World started in 1993 You would have been

seven years old at the time. So you're right

around Corey's age a little bit maybe I think

That's it. I think I don't know. He's whatever

he's supposed to be eight or nine or whatever

else for me. I I was 13 at the time when this

show premiered so I kinda watched it, but I didn't

watch it faithfully until like seasons six and

seven. I know that's kind of a horrible thing

to say, but I have since in the last seven years

or so, or the last, actually the last four or

five years, actually more so, whenever ABC Family

started airing the show again, I think it was

actually right before Girl Meets World. So Girl

Meets World launched what, 24? I don't know,

whatever it was. The sequel series, Girl Meets

World. So ABC Family started running Boy Meets

World during the morning time, like 6 to 9 a

.m. or whatever it was, and they just run it

over and over and over again. So in the last

two or three years, I've seen the entire show

multiple times, all seven seasons. I really have

no nostalgia with Boy Meets World. I don't have

the same nostalgia for it that I do with something

like ALF or something like Knight Rider or Airwolf

or A -Team or something like that. Because as

I said, when the show was running, it was between

the time I was 13 and the time I was 20. So I

was kind of growing up and going through some

rough patches and whatever else. Do remember

several things about the show. I remember several

episodes. I remember like I said those later

seasons I really remember because I did watch

those This show it might be one of if not the

best family show of the 90s in my personal opinion

Yeah, I I'm definitely of that opinion I Out

of all the ones I watched this is the one that

that kind of resonates with me to this day. Yep.

And what Michael Jacobs and April Kelly and all

the writers and creators and what they were doing

back then, I mean, those life lessons still apply

now. Like you could show seasons one, two or

three to your boys. Maybe not Nolan, but you

could he's not old enough just yet, but you know

what I mean Well, I actually show so like that's

that's one of my go -to's right I can say now

in the last like I said two or three years watching

it as an adult I Absolutely adore Alan and Amy

the parents And I like the kids too. I mean,

I like, I like Corina Topanga and Sean and, you

know, whenever she's around Angela, um, Minkus

and all that. And obviously Mr. Feeny. Um, and,

and, and I know you, and I, I intentionally left

Eric out because there are times that Eric just,

and I know he's supposed to do this, but there

are just times that in those middle seasons where

he just annoyed the crap out of me. Um. but like

for me watching it as an adult again I really

dug all of the episodes all the seasons and like

I said it's been probably at least two years

since I've seen the entire series so we're starting

this show and this show is going to be a boy

and girl meets world review podcast this is going

to be our only second television review podcast

on the network in seven years, almost seven years.

So the only other television review podcast that

we've had was when I did the Knight Rider show

Beyond the Knight with Dion the Music Man. So

all the other review podcasts have been cartoons

or whatever else. So this is going to be a fun,

fun journey. What are you most looking forward

to from this? I'm looking forward to kind of

going back and finding out what my favorite episodes

were Because I just I honestly can't remember

it's been it's been a little bit since I've seen

some of them, but Because I've been keeping up

with girl meets world Right, right. So So here's

the thing folks and I'm not throwing you under

the bus. I'm giving them factual information.

Steve is one of those types of people that he

can't do the long form podcast, like not in the

review podcast style. He's been doing Altered

Geek for two years. We've been doing GCR together

for seven years, whatever. But when it comes

to review shows, he wants them to be more compact

and less podcast episodes than normal. I spent,

like when I had this idea, I spent four hours

one afternoon crafting a schedule that I would

know that I could take to Steve and say, this

is the plan. Are you good with this? Does this

work for you? So here's the plan. We're in episode

zero. The show is going to launch somewhere late

summer, early fall, as far as the podcast goes.

The episode releases will be sporadic. The reason

why I say that is because we want to get enough

people attached to it without it feeling being

overloaded. So it's going to be more of a specialty

podcast. It's going to be kind of a, a limited

edition kind of thing. How we're gonna do this

is episodes 1 to 10 are gonna be all season,

all episode reviews from season 1 of Boy Meets

World. So the way I approached Steve with this,

I said, okay, let's take 10 weeks, wherever those

10 weeks are in this year, record those 10 episodes

and then we can release them bi -weekly, monthly,

whatever, however we wanna do it. I don't even

remember what else. Basically... We're only going

to be producing ten weeks at a time and we could

do like it We could do ten weeks right now and

then three months later or four months later.

We could do another ten weeks So episode 11 and

20 will be season 2 21 to 30 will be season 3

31 to 39 will be season 4 40 to 50 will be season

5 51 to 59 will be season 6 and 60 to 69 will

be season 7 episode 70 will be the overall series

recap and the girl meets world teaser So Boy

Meets World at seven seasons, it's 158 television

episodes. So even with the series recap episode,

it's 70 podcasts. I know that may sound daunting,

but I think the way that I've set this up for

us to do, it's going to be a fun thing. It's

going to, you know, I think you're going to be

able to find that you can come do the production,

watch the episodes and record the podcast with

me. You know, you can get that all done and obviously

for the most part, I'll probably take on the

editing on this one. Um, and Bing Bam Boom, you,

you know, you take 10 weeks and, or you take,

you know, if we, if we want to split it up every

five weeks and just do five episodes at a time,

that's fine. You know, we'll produce those and

then we'll put those out at a time where we're

working on other stuff. So it's a, like I said,

it's going to be a limited edition kind of thing,

and it's going to be something that's going to.

grow over time. When we get to Girl Meets World,

now as of this recording, January 8th, 2016,

so far there have only been two seasons and season

two for Girl Meets World isn't even over yet.

There's still a few episodes left in season two

and season three is all over. No, it's not. No,

it's not. There are several... Let me actually

look it up here, because I had to write it all

down to get the schedule thing done. I've seen

all of season two. No, you haven't. I'm just

telling you right now, you haven't. Let's see.

After Grill Meets Texas, which is the three -parter,

we have Grill Meets Forgiveness Project, Grill

Meets Belief, Grill Meets the New Year. The final

four episodes of season two are Girl Meets Stem,

Girl Meets Money, Girl Meets Communism, and Girl

Meets Bay Window, and then Girl Meets Legacy,

because season three, they're gonna go to high

school. So. How the show for Girl Meets World

is gonna play out is episode 71 to 77 will be

season one. Episodes 78 to 89 will be season

two. And so far as of this recording, as I said,

episode 90 to 92 is season three. The only reason

why it's only three podcasts is because they

only have listed so many episodes for season

three at this point. My goal out of this, my

hope out of this is we get more and different

people to the network to check this out as well

as everything else that we do, as well as to

have fun going back and kind of analyzing this

classic family comedy. Unlike previous review

shows, we're not going to split it up into three

different sections. We're going to do... We'll

have the intro to love the beginning of the show

whatever Season theme that is or whatever. We'll

have the little introduction catch -up kind of

thing We'll review either two or three television

shows per episode it just depends like sometimes

it's three episodes sometimes it's two and I

kind of Mix and match and go back and forth on

that And that's that's pretty much what it'll

be for the most part We'll have this on iTunes.

We'll have it on blog talk radio I'm sure we'll

put it on Stitcher and obviously it'll be on

the website It's gonna be a fun fun little journey

to go back and watch and just see where we Where

we fall as adults when it comes to Boy Meets

World and Girl Meets World Yep So that's it,

folks. There's no exact date just yet as far

as when episode one will be, like I said in the

beginning of this episode. It'll be somewhere

late summer, probably after the top 50, the first

top 50 that you're gonna do. Probably start releasing

after that right before you do your wars tournament

or whatever. I can't think of it all, but anyway.

Late summer, early fall of 2016 is when, when

the show will start airing. Um, and at that time

in episode one, we will give you all the information

as far as if there's going to be a Twitter or

any of that kind of stuff, or where you can,

you can send email and all that stuff to feedback

at geocastradio network, not geocast, shit. Feedback

at geocastradio .com. It's late, damn it. Fucking

God. Anyway, um. Sorry So we will have all that

information for you in episode one Anything else

you want to say about boy meets world before

we get out of here? I think I think I'm really

excited for the show and to see kind of what

we What we get into and what episodes are great

and where you know characters start to change

and and more fun Have fun with it Absolutely

So we hope you enjoyed this episode zero of podcaster

meets world and wish you'll join us in the summer

slash fall When we'll be reviewing the first

three episodes of boy meets world season one

those being the pilot on the fence and father

knows less for now I am TF2 and Mike with Steve
