The Sector Seven Experience
The official Sector Seven Mobile Unit tour recently hit three locations in mid-Michigan, including a stop in Flint, just fifteen minutes from my front door. On Sunday morning around 11:30 AM, I headed across town to the Showcase Cinemas Flint West.
As soon as I pulled into the parking lot, I spotted a massive black semi-truck flanked by security guards and staff decked out in official Transformers (2007) shirts and hats. Two actors were on-site portraying official Sector Seven operatives. Sporting my classic G1 Megatron tee and a Decepticon cap, I joined a thankfully short line with my two younger brothers and my fiancée.
Trailer Setup & Atmosphere
The exterior setup was impressive. Massive movie posters flanked either side of the trailer, Optimus Prime on the right and Megatron on the left. Mounted in the center of the trailer was a screen flanked by booming speakers playing the final theatrical trailer on a non-stop loop, ensuring the entire parking lot could hear it.
Inside, the mobile unit was packed with monitors, tactical projections, and props highlighting the classified work of Sector Seven, including several hydrogen tanks matching those used to freeze Megatron in the film.
Inside the Mobile Unit
As we walked in, the in-character agents greeted us with a warning: any knowledge of “Transformers” is merely an illusion harbored by the insane.
Suddenly, a third agent interrupted via two overhead monitors, stating he had urgent footage to patch through. The on-site agents panicked, trying to shut it down while talking into their comms, “Negative, civilians are present!” but the footage played anyway.
The screen showcased extended footage of the battle at the Qatar military base featuring Scorponok and Barricade. The clip highlighted a hilariously chaotic moment where a soldier tries calling the Pentagon for air support, only to get stuck dealing with an international operator asking for a credit card mid-attack. Once the military managed to call in a strike to damage Scorponok and force him back under the sand, the feed cut out.
Wrapping up the tour, the agents reminded us that everything we saw was strictly classified. They warned us with a laugh that if we talked, they’d hunt us down, ending the presentation with a classic tagline: “Remember people, in this world, there is more than meets the eye.”
The Takeaway
Upon exiting, we picked up a few cool promotional freebies: mini posters of Prime and Megatron featuring a $5 off coupon for the video game at Best Buy, alongside a group ticket promo card.
Experiencing this tour firsthand took my hype for the 2007 movie to another level. Even with the drastic changes to the aesthetic and voice cast compared to classic G1, seeing the promotional push in person was unforgettable.
