Unlike its SNES namesake, which opted for a single-player action-platformer design, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie on Sega Genesis took direct inspiration from classic beat ’em ups like Streets of Rage. The result is a surprisingly robust two-player co-op brawler that captures the high-energy excitement of the ’90s pop culture phenomenon.

Players start in teenager form, fighting Putty Patrollers in two plane-switching backgrounds before charging up a meter to transform into fully morphed Power Rangers. Once morphed, each Ranger gains access to their iconic signature weapons, devastating special moves, and item pickups. The game even includes thrilling Megazord battles that function like a giant monster fighting game. Crisp pixel graphics, faithful audio chiptunes, and solid controls make this an underrated gem for beat ’em up fans and nostalgic geeks alike.
