About this Episode

TFG1Mike and Michael Wilson discuss two Transformers figures: the Target-exclusive Voyager Shockwave from Transformers Animated, covering its exceptional light-piping, stability issues, and why they didn't bother learning to edit out language; and the Robots in Disguise Bruticus, a three-headed beast-mode figure with unrealized gimmicks and poor paint applications that deserved better treatment despite its unusual design.

Cliffjumper, commence countdown. Five, four,

three, two... Welcome to Transformers Toycast.

This is episode 13. Yes, this is actually episode

13. I believe in episode 12 I said that was episode

13. This is before we did 12 .5. But yeah, that

was a flow on my part. I am TFD1 Mike and I'm

joined by Pecan Court Michael. Hello. Hey, how's

it going? Hey, it's going. I would like to bring

up an issue that came out of 12 .5. First of

all, I'd just like to say that I'm not good at

editing audio like replacing it. Like if I say,

fuck, I'm not good at replacing that with a beep

or another sound effect or something else. So

Transformers ToyCast has become explicit. It

will be explicit for the rest of its lifespan,

whatever that may be. Oh, come on. This could

have easily been a PG -13 show. And then you

go out. Throwing out the filth, filth, filth,

learning filth again. OK, well, first of all,

if people want the true rant that I did on this,

they can listen to Headshot episode 9. I'm not

really going to go into too much detail with

it. But my overall view on the podcasts that

I do, my nature is that I curse. No, I do not

curse in everyday life all of the time. I do

every now and then. But I don't do it all the

time. Podcasting gives me a It's a medium for

me to say stuff that I would not normally say.

And I do not make podcasts for kids. I make podcasts

for geeks like myself who are around my age.

20s, 30s, whatever. I don't make them for teenagers.

I don't make them for 10, 11, 12 year olds. That's

just not what I do podcasting for. I do it for

myself and I do it for geeks like me. That's

to say that you're going to be turning away teenage

listeners in the hopes that they're mature enough

to handle the occasional swear You know I mean,

I'm I'm not really gonna get into this because

I've already said my piece about it as I said

people can go over to geek cast radio calm and

they can listen it shot episode 9 from full Thoughts

on the subject, but anyway, how are you sir?

I'm okay. It's funny that you had mentioned that

because I've actually been trying to tone down

my language. Yes, I know you have because you

do have kids. I have small children, and it's

funny because the other day I was telling my

wife what a pain in the ass my commute home from

Chicago was. And from behind me I hear the boy

saying, pain in the ass. And I'm thinking, holy

crap. What are you just saying? Well, that's

fine. If people don't want to curse. on the shows

if other people don't want to that's fine but

people need to realize I'm a 29 year old male

who is single. I have no children nor do I want

any children. The world doesn't want you having

children either. People have to understand where

I'm coming from as well as me understanding where

other people are coming from. I understand where

you're coming from. I understand where the person

that had the problem with the issue is coming

from. But at the same time, and I'm not trying

to sound like a dick when I say this, it's my

show. I'll do what the hell I want to do. Dick?

Shut up. Hey, were there any complaints about

12 .5 because. Other than the one? No. OK, because

we. Aside from the two tiny expletives that were

uttered during 12 .5, which, again, I could have

easily been edited out, it was fairly clean.

And that was my fault, just because I was editorializing

or expounding upon, oh, this might be dirty if

I said, bah! And you know granted I'm gonna have

to teach you how to edit It's not that hard You

know, I don't I am the type of person that is

anti censorship Okay, I Think it's parents And

I understand toy cast as of right now as of this

recording and as of 12 .5 was not tagged explicit

Hopefully by the time this goes up the entire

podcast will be tagged explicit people are going

to have to Unsubscribe and then resubscribe to

see the new tag. I think you can actually Individually

mark episodes as explicit. I think you can but

I'm not really sure I've seen that done in a

few other podcasts. You know, the whole point

of me trying to keep Toycast clean on the request

of one of my former co -hosts was that on the

episodes that he was in, he wanted his children

to listen to. Well, he wasn't even in 12 .5.

You know what I mean? I understand. I understand

perfectly. That's fine. I would say it's not

even that. Sometimes you have family members

or something that they may be upset if they hear

you. scissor screaming out curse words or or

uh... you know describing your genitalia in detail

online but not that we've done that i'm just

saying oh not that we will ever do that but i

think i didn't have a long discussion on robot

genitalia discussing your own genitalia describe

your balls but uh... you know robot what i'm

saying here is that it would it would probably

behoove us to keep it clean anyway And plus,

again, as far as editing goes, editing isn't

just for censorship. Editing can also improve

the quality overall of the podcast. So again,

I think we should invest some time in learning

this skill. I want to say we, I mean you. It's

not going to happen. No, I'm serious. I think

it would be good for me. And again, not as censorship,

but you know, although yes, it could be used

for that. I mean, honestly, if you are three

to five seconds away from being PG -13, then

it's not really that big of a deal to go back

and censor something. A little bleep or something

here and there. Not that big a deal, and very

easily done. You're done with your vacation,

and you actually forgot how to do your job when

you went back to work. I so did. Because you

leave for a certain amount of time, and you come

back, and you just stare at the screen. And it's

like, oh, man, what was I doing before I left?

Where's the priority here? What am I supposed

to be working on? How am I supposed to do this?

And it's like riding a bike. You jump right back

on and keep pedaling. But for the first couple

hours there, you're just disoriented, especially

if you've taken over a week off. It's kind of

like little kids. They come back from summer

vacation, and they don't know how to spell their

own name because they haven't written it down

for so long. It's like, oh my god. I should know

this. It's kind of sad and pathetic. But no,

I'd jump right back in there. Yeah. Yes, I should

also note it is Michael's fault. I am now fully

into this Mafia Wars bullcrap on Facebook Because

I had nothing else to do I was getting sick and

tired of playing Grand Theft Auto on my computer

tonight I figured out the hell. I'll see what

it's about. I'm not fully addicted yet It's like

one of those things where it's just there so

But yeah, I'm on Mafia Wars now I guess Nice

yeah, anybody on Facebook should You know play

mafia wars and join our mafias More more mafia

members you have the better the better your game

experience will be and whoever owns mafia wars

just you know you need to pay us $20 for as many

times as we say mafia wars because Everybody

should pay us every time we say their name. Absolutely.

I'm all for that. It's the royalties streaming

my way from Zynga Entertainment. I guess I'm

going to go first with picks today. A little

bit of a programming note. Toycast has always

been this thing where whenever myself and a couple

of my TIA friends can get together or one, two,

three, however many. And we talk about one or

two, you know, one toy each, basically discussing

each other's collections, you know, or opinions

on those collections. I've often referred to

it as YouTube reviews without the video. As far

as its future, I honestly don't know. I currently

only have after this episode one more toy that

I can actually talk about. And I don't want each

episode past that to be, oh yeah, I want this

or oh yeah, I want that. You know, at least for

me, yeah, other people have more toys than I

do. So they have plenty to pick from. But, you

know, my collection is very limited and I'm pretty

much almost done. I went to Walmart today hoping,

just surely hoping to see if by any chance there

was a leaked TFA Rodimus, of course, no. Unfortunately

not. I was hoping, but no. Not until November.

No, I know. But they had plenty of Elite Guard

Bumblebee. They had plenty of, they had like

two pegs. Like they had like, like if you take

the, say you take Star Wars toys, Revenge of

the Fallen, and then like for two shelf spaces

down, like two, like You have, say you have six

pegs per line, so two lines of shelf. They had

an abundance of stuff there. They had plenty

of those fugly ass lug nut toys that won't sell.

Other than that, that's pretty much it. The rest

of it runs into the fall in Star Wars, stuff

like that. So my pick today will be Transformers

Animated True Colors Target Exclusive Shockwave.

First of all, I'd like to say that this toy is

not so accurate, only because on the cannon,

the little gun thing at the end of the barrel

is not red, like it was in the cartoon. Pain

can fix that. I mean, I really don't care, but

I was just looking at it now and I'm thinking,

what? Just pointing it out. Yeah, just pointing

it out. I think if it were that important to

enough people that Repro labels would come out

with like a fix This figure I really do I think

it's awesome that we have him and I think it

was awesome of target to basically fuck up and

have shockwave and Sunstorm 499 for five bucks.

Yeah for about six days You know, it took them

a little while to fix that, too. And I bought

like three of each. Yes, I know you did. I would

have sent you one if you hadn't already bought

one. Yes. Well, it was like that day that you

went into Target and basically went into the

back and opened a whole bunch of boxes. Those

boxes were just laying out there, you know. Don't

lie. Don't lie. My figure. I will never take

him out of robot mode. I like the robot mode

the best. I do like the tank mode. I'm not a

fan of long arm, so his face will never have

the long arm version. Well, the purple one shouldn't.

No, it does. Well, no. I mean, but it shouldn't.

No, I understand. On principle. It does. Yeah,

yeah. And last week, or whenever the toy cas

12 .5 came out, I complained about Jazz's light

piping not being very well seen. Shockwaves is

completely different. I had him sitting or not

sitting. I don't know if the toy can actually

sit or not. I'm not going to try it. But anyway,

I am standing here on my desk the other day,

and I get some sunlight in the morning in my

living room here. And all of a sudden, this bright

red thing on the front of his face lit up. So

I kind of moved it over towards the Sun Wow the

light piping on this thing is awesome. It lights

up so well nice Just just so so well I Really

do like this figure. I would recommend it to

anyone You are going at least from my own experience

with the legs. I've had plenty of stability problems

And you know how you're supposed to transform

to long arm by, you know, moving the panels on

the purple part of the leg down by the foot?

Yeah. Mine tend to move themselves when they're

touched. I don't know why. They just spin around?

Well, the gun just fell out of his hand and he

just went sideways. What the hell? You know,

I should have drug mine out of the closet, but

mine, you know, he stands up so tall. Being avoided

your figure, you know, but he's way in the back

of my closet He's way in the back of my display

shelf So I don't want to pull him out and knock

over every other figure on that on that shelf

I actually use his gun. I normally don't have

it on the back I normally have it in the in the

plug on his hand Actually use it as a cane for

him so you can kind of stand up, okay? Man. Shockwave's

old, man. He's almost 25 years old. Mine stands

in pretty well. He's got his cannon on his arm,

and he's loaded for bear. I just kind of put

the cannon on my desk here, and then just kind

of play with his legs just a little bit to the

point where he will stand up. And there we go.

He should be fine. One thing we should mention

and I will link to on the product on empire comm

slash Katherine spark forms Is the flaw that

dog dog from TFW found with the crotch joint?

So in robot genitalia here Nice We just saying

that we weren't going to talk about robot genitalia

today uh... our own you tell you we're not going

to talk about oh well as long as we clarify yes

yes yes it's important that we talk about uh...

overall i think he's an awesome figure uh...

actually uh... i'm not a fan of the activators

at all so i basically once i got him i took on

activators bubble bee and i went on twitter and

i said hey does anybody want this because i don't

like these toys i really have no need for them

they're basically pieces of crap There are well

in bumblebee escape a case a piece of yellow

crap Yeah, I like him and Malunas said that that

he had wanted him. I said, okay fine Give me

your address and I just shipped it off to him

I don't care. I didn't want it. So it's not like

I wanted to actually make any money off Yeah,

those are cool of you. It's a freaking activator.

I really don't care. I mean, what's oh, so I

mean, you know, it's a seven eight dollar value

Not I wouldn't pay more than 50 cents In ball

machine toys that you get in I picked up Activator

bumblebee and I was really really happy I have

the activator one before I got the deluxe size

and I was happy with the activator I thought

it was great and I mean I like the deluxe size

too, but when the repaint came out You know the

white one. I went and scooped that one up, too

I dig it. I think he's I think he's awesome.

I didn't need a second one But I mean I would

it would have been nice if they would have repainted

him too to go along with the repainted shockwave,

but You know, I thought he I like that figure

But I mean it was very cool of you to mail him

off to Malunas and Malunas is a good guy. He

deserves one I do have an image of the tank mode

as I said I will not be ever transforming him

out of robot mode because I like his robot one

the best I do like the tank mode Think it offers

really really cool, especially with the cannon

being able to like extend up and then pretty

much go 360 I I do like that, but I don't know

I like the robot mode the best I just don't see

the fact I don't have any more room on myself

and if I ever get friggin leader Magnus here

transformed into truck mode, I don't work The

truck is huge You know, going back to Shockwave,

he's really cool. I like the true colors thing.

And I don't think we even knew when Shockwave

first appeared in the show, well, Long Arm. There's

a Long Arm Prime. Yeah, Long Arm Prime first

appeared. Then we were introduced to the whole

Shockwave angle. And then season three, they

did the best thing ever. This was after the.

was released. They made it true colors in the

show. Hell yeah. That was super awesome. I love

the way they did that. I thought it was nice

how they incorporated that into his storyline

for the cartoon. Yeah. I know Derek White actually

gave that away. On Twitter, he actually said,

oh, when Shockwave shows his true colors. It's

like oh, you know and nobody really knew what

he meant But you know there was some speculation

like oh his true colors means either a he's gonna

It's gonna be revealed. He's a decepticon of

course, but B. He's literally going to change

colors um Actually, he revealed it before then

in his April Fool's image oh No, he's I think

he said that before the April Fool's image. Oh,

do you really? Yeah. And then when the April

Fool's image came out, it was like, oh. You know,

it's like one of those, when you see it, you

will shit bricks type things. Oh, trust me. When

I saw that episode on TV, I almost. Yeah. And

who knew that Transformers could change their

color, you know, just at will? Well, you know,

like Waspinator turns. You know from green to

yellow at will Yeah, yeah well speaking and I

know we're kind of running off of Shockwave and

we haven't gotten to your pick yet, but speaking

of fugitive waspinator He is going to have purple

eyes. Yes. Oh really nice The only reason why

I assume that is because his headlights in the

alt mode are purple and his missiles His boost

not missiles, but his boosters are purple Well,

I mean that's a simple That's a simple color

change. They can do that fairly easily. Again,

the mold is finished. The dye is complete, the

steel dyes, that they actually make the mold

out of. And changing the colors is trivial. It

would have been really nice if they would have

given him a different head, kind of like what

they did with Klimtjumper. But at this point,

they're not really investing in any more molding.

It's just, you know, we should just be happy

that we got it. I'm happy, granted. I'll be unhappy

if they don't bring him out, but yeah. Yeah.

Well, I mean, he's kind of a secondary for me.

Pretty much for that mold, for that Bumblebee

mold, Elite Guard was mine. Oh, you're breaking

up there. Elite Guard Bumblebee was mine. We'll

have to fix the mic somehow. Dammit. Can you

hear me now? Oh, not really. I can hear you now.

Can you hear me now? I think so. It's coming

through on my end, I think. OK. It's coming through

on my end, so. OK, good. Because you were cutting

out there a little intermittently, but then you

were just, psh, there it went. It's probably

Skype. There, is that any better? Oh, you just

broke it. I didn't break it. Oh, you're still

cutting it out a little bit. Yeah, I guess it.

I think it's a mic issue. Yeah, well, I need

a new headset, so. Yeah. Well, I was just listening

to another episode of Toycast today, and I was

thinking you were fading in and out there. Yeah.

And I was thinking, man, I hope you got that

fixed. Which episode was that? Uh, you know.

Well, I think it may have been 11. Oh, OK. Yeah.

Yeah, because I was on, well, it was 11 or 12.

Yeah. Because I was in 12 .5. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I think it was 11 or 12. I forget. I finished

up 11 and was just starting in on 12. I was hoping

to get to 12 and a half to see. Basically, I

like to listen to myself. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.

So I guess we can go on to your pick. I really

don't have anything else to say about this guy.

I doubt people are going to be able to find this

in stores anymore. You can find him online at

BBTH, Big Bad Toy Store, or Hasbro Toy Shop may

have him. I don't know. I know he was a Target

exclusive. Probably people's best bets to find

Transformers animated true colors shockwave Voyager

class is eBay unfortunately Probably eBay, you

know, I would I thought that they would have

all sold out when they accidentally put them

on sale for five bucks Oh, yeah, but because

I mean that's that's a better deal than you're

gonna get for the the activator Oh, yeah on sale.

So I mean it's like here buy an activator for

20 % off and we'll throw in a free Voyager. Yep

But oddly enough after the fact when they priced

them back to 20 bucks I saw them on clearance

a couple of them on clearance for you know, 15

bucks Yeah, and I was like, wow, that's not a

very good clearance price considering I bought

like eight of them for So I mean, yeah, you might

be able to find them I don't know eBay is probably

the best way to find them. Unfortunately, you're

not gonna find them for the the discounted five

dollar price or whatever but um right it's still

for the for what you get for the shockwave figure

you know 25 dollars it's probably overpriced

but it's not bad for the figs you get i mean

people right well i would say that the uh the

voyager figures themselves are 20 bucks yeah

and that's a bargain considering that you could

have bought them for 20 bucks at the store, and

you would have got a free activator. If you've

already owned those activators, then maybe that's

such a bargain. But if you picked them up for

five bucks, that was a really good deal. So yeah,

it was one of the first times I actually went

out toy hunting. Because I like hunting for the

toys. You go out to a bunch of different stores

looking for the ones that you heard. Just came

out somewhere in California and are hoping came

out here too, you know, but as soon as I heard

this I actually went out to about three or four

different targets and Scooped up as many as I

could get my hands on. Yes Yeah, there was a

when I went over to target the one here locally

to get this one It was actually that actually

the Saturday that Derek J Wyatt had tweeted about

it. No, I'm like, are you serious? No way You're

lying is this only in California Oh, I'm pretty

sure it's messed up all over the place, so I

actually took I have a giant jar that I keep

for pennies That to Kroger Use the coin star

I collected like something like seven hundred

and eleven pennies I got like eight bucks and

change from it like eight thousand seven cents,

so it was just enough to get you know this this

this voyager two -pack with with act mobile be

and uh... and yeah well i went up there is like

she's like five twenty nine no way away actually

when i went out to get it sort of cut off i went

to the toilet to get it well but but but but

but but but but but but but but but but but but

but but but but but but but but but but but but

but but but but but but but but but but but but

but but but but but but but but but but but but

but but but but but but but but but but but but

but but but but but but but but but but but but

but but In front of her kind of angling seeing

how many were left. There was one left and I

grabbed it. I scooped it up. Yep, exactly. It

kills me that you cashed in your penny collection.

You came in and just said, give me anything I

could get for these pennies, man, because I'm

scooping up the Soundwave theorem. Shockwave,

yeah. That's funny. I never say that this is

Soundwave, because holy crap, Soundwave ain't

nothing but a midget animated. Oh, well. I don't

know. Yeah, for animated, I don't know. I will

be picking up the repaint when it comes out,

though. I guess. And probably the activator,

too. Yeah, I don't know. I just dig this entire

line. I was really sad to see it go. Yeah, I

mean, I came around to it. I think there's only

a few things I would not get if I was still actively

seeking them, which is probably oil slick. I

don't really like. Motorcycle transformers. It's

just not my thing The seekers are but ugly all

of I don't like any of them And Of course Sentinel

Prime because I hate the character. I will never

own a snowmobile Transformer never he's not a

snowmobile. He is friggin snowmobile He's a snow

truck snowmobile snow plow snow, whatever uh...

i just thought i had mentioned this to malunas

on uh... twitter this morning we're recording

this friday night so i mentioned this to him

this morning and uh... i said how cool would

it have been if they had transformers animated

human alliance figures and you could use the

those fan -made uh... human figures the the fan

zone the sorry The professor some doc and I just

thought of something just now since we're arguing

over what sentinel is whether snowplow snowmobile

Whatever. Yeah, you could make a human alliance

Homer Simpson. Mr. Plow That would be worth it

yes Actually, you know, I've seen people online

posing figures Uh, not quite GI Joe size maybe

a little bit smaller posing them with their with

like oil slick. Yeah And that turned out pretty

nice. That's fine I really don't have anything

against oil slick as far as character. I did

like his one appearance in season three I just

not into motorcycle transformers. It's just not

my thing Yeah, oh yeah, it's not my bag um...

we're coming up on the thirty -minute march here

so we're gonna take a break and then we're come

back with your so we'll be right back long last

night's you my my true Devastator Okay, we are

back and what is your pick mr. Wilson I have

chosen robots in disguise Bruticus. Yes, and

not to be confused with robots in disguise ruination

Ruination being the the repaints of g1 Bruticus.

Uh -huh the combiner It's kind of strange that

they named him, you know ruination considering

that in Japan his name was Valdegas and then

he came to America and they had already created

a toy for the the Beast Machines line that was

going to be Bruticus and they didn't release

him for Beast Machines they released him for

Robots in Disguise instead but they stuck with

the name and I'm not entirely sure why knowing

that They were going to get a G1 combiner homage

to Bruticus. They could have named him something

else like Dog Boy or Cerberus or something. Dog

Boy. Dog Boy. But no, they could have named him

anything, but they didn't. They named him Bruticus.

And therefore, I had the name there, combiner,

something else, something completely off -canon.

They named him Ruination instead. Which is fine,

you know, I'm not gonna knock him for that. That's

cool. Whatever they want to do. I blame Aaron

Archer This figure was the first figure that

Aaron Archer colored for Hasbro or the first

Transformers figure that Aaron Archer colored

for Hasbro So I'm going to assume that you know,

the the whole naming convention everything they

use is his fault, too Could be I don't know What

alt modes does he have like what? What are his

alt modes? Well, he starts off in three -headed

dog mode. OK. It sounds lame. It does. But he

looks terribly cool. He's kind of a mystical

creature, which isn't unheard of in the Beast

Machines line. I mean, they had a unicorn. They

had a griffin. They had a dragon. They had a

lion. So I mean, they're not short on mystical

creatures. So here they have a Cerberus a three

-headed dog who is known to guard the gates of

hell and other other gates if you You know watch

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Yeah, right

No, there was it was a Cerberus in the Sorcerer's

Stone, which oddly enough came out at about the

same time as this figure Mm -hmm. So it might

be might be a little Homage there as well, but

I think his name was fluffy Fluffy the giant

three -headed dog who guards the gates of hell

now that's ruination That's not the actual toy

that you're talking about today correct. No no

ruination is the five piece combiner Bruticus

is the the three -headed dog Okay, but this is

robots in disguise I thought they were going

back to cars and planes and crap like that and

robots in disguise well Yes, and no what happened

is In Japan, those crazy Takara guys said, enough

of this animal bullshit. We're going to create

robots that turn into vehicles. And we're not

only going to do that. We're going to make vehicles

that are real vehicles. We're not going to do

this crappy 1998 futuristic car tank whatever

crap. We're going for real cars. They did a Dodge

Viper. They did some other really nice vehicle

modes. You ended up with a little bit of kibble

in robot mode, but the transformations were awesome.

And again, it's a return after, oh, what was

it, seven, eight years to actual robots that

turn into vehicles. The problem was there just

wasn't enough of them. and in America They they

fleshed out the line with repaints from you know

G1 and G2 and and other figures that just You

know didn't make the cut from like beast machines

Yeah, you showed me the the image of all the

ones that you have and the the G2 one is basically

probably where the people that designed the Non

-transforming brick $100 Devastator got their

color schemes from You're still talking about

you're still talking about the the combiner,

huh? All right, we're gonna do this again No,

no, I'm had a combiner named Bruticus, right?

He was a five -part combiner G2 had a five -part

combiner named Bruticus who was a repaint of

G1. And I understand that's not the... It didn't

take low colors. Exactly. I understand that's

not the talk you're talking about, but I'm saying

when you first showed me the image... Oh, of

the Bruticus? Yeah. Alright, right. Of them all

together. Right. What I first saw was the G2

version that was the, you know, multicolor version.

Right. So that's why I was saying it's basically

where... The $100 brick non -transforming Devastator

got its colors because that's what it reminded

me of. All right. So to clarify, for everyone

who didn't see those pictures, I own five or

six different repaints of that Bruticus mold,

the combiner mold. And I took a photo shoot of

all of them, comparison shots, and put them all

up on my website. And so I was actually showing

Mike. Pictures of of the the different combiners

and all the different colors Yes, and if you'd

like to see those you can go to michaelandchrissey

.com and just search under transformers or Bruticus.

Yeah Well, yeah, you'll see my my review on Bruticus

the RID figure and my My photos of the different

combiner repaints It's just confusing. I don't

see why the hell they named this guy Bruticus

because it's just going to throw everybody off.

I think what they tried to do here somehow is

they tried to get five different robots out of

this guy and just weren't able to do it. They

easily could have made at least three robots

out of him because I mean granted he's not only

does he have three heads and Cerberus or three

-headed dog mode, but once his other, his two

smaller heads turn into arms in robot mode, he

still has three heads. He's almost like a, almost

like a Quintesson, a three -headed Quintesson.

Because, no, he literally, he's got a face, but

then to the left of his face, there's another

face. To the right of his face is a third face

So he's got three faces on his head. I'm not

sure what that what that could be and Literally,

you can turn his head completely around and he

can have up to three different faces It's weird

is what it is and You know, it's just a look

at him that's kind of funky You know and other

other weird things about him is when you transform

him into Beast mode, you know, he's not only

got You know to see I mean he's got three sets

of legs here two arms two hands or two feet It's

it's really messed up Yeah I'm playing with them

now and I'm like, wait a minute this leg becomes

another arm with a knife in it and This leg becomes

another arm with a knife in it. So I mean literally

now he's got Four hands And yeah, this this hands

got a knife in it this hands got Saw or something

and I mean, he's just got he's armed to the teeth.

He's got saws and knives and everything all over

him He's got four arms. He's just funky. He's

got bat wings on his head Watch me now But the

To digress here now that I've got him in robot

mode You know, I mean basically he's a three

Headed armored dog with bat wings on his head.

I mean, he's got spikes and saw blades all over

his body But I mean he's just funky and it's

almost like he's got Options on him that aren't

Fleshed out in any mode It sounds like something

I would never ever buy Well, it's strange because

there's not a whole lot of people that did buy

him. I mean he wasn't released to great fanfare

But you know as far as you know the robot mode

here. He doesn't But he's missing bits. Basically,

because he was created for the Beast Machines

line, they made him with gimmicks that were never

realized. And he's got a big panel in his chest

that opens up where it looks like, it almost

looks like a Matrix of Leadership type thing

underneath it. But you know that's a gimmick.

It's either a push button or it would have been

something there that could have done something

cool that they didn't do anything with. The second

pair of arms here, maybe this wasn't the second

pair of arms. Maybe he was supposed to use the

first pair of arms with this head, but then you

twist his head around and there's another head

where he would use the other pair of arms. So

he could have actually been two or three different

robots. Entirely need to do YouTube reviews.

I know you're not big on doing those and I know

there are millions of YouTube reviewers out there

But this is why you need to do them to show off

Yeah, cuz he's got so many and he's well and

his tail pops off and it becomes a cat of three

tails Or like a whip with knives on the end of

it. He's just a badass character Now is this

toy readily findable online I would assume or

I don't know. I checked eBay before doing the

podcast, and I saw a couple loose ones for relatively

cheap. And then you've got your scalpers who

want to sell the boxed ones for $50 each. So

he's available out there if you wanted one. I

dig the character. I think that the problem that

I have with him which is the problem that a lot

of other people seem to have, is that he just

doesn't have enough paint apps. He's got, well,

you know, he's got red plastic with black paint,

and then he's got black plastic. There's other

plastic on him that's very, very dark blue that

could pass for black. And then he's got maybe

a couple gold highlights and a couple silver

highlights for his, what, would be... giant metal

spikes, and his catamain tails, and his toenails,

his callens, if you will. But if you were to

compare this figure to universe, well, are they

going to name him Bruticus? I think they are.

Universe Bruticus. He Yeah, he's gonna be called

Predacon Bruticus in the universe line. They're

gonna release him At the end of this year, I

believe probably November closer to Christmas,

but he's a repaints of Cybertron scourge Also

known as a flame convoy in Japan So they're gonna

they're gonna repaint him as robots in this guy's

Bruticus Which is you know, it's very cool. It's

kind of it's kind of strange that they would

repaint him as this obscure Robots in the Sky's

character that almost wasn't. Or I should say

Beast Machines' character that almost wasn't.

But for Cybertron Scourge being a three -headed

dragon, it comes off pretty nice. But when they

repainted him, they used a lot of paint apps.

He's got gold highlights everywhere. He's got

blue highlights all over the place, yellow highlights.

He's very liberal use of yellow and red and blue

and black plastic all over him. From the pictures

that I've seen so far of the mockups, he looks

more like a bot con toy. They just put so much

paint on him. And he's very sharp. your RID,

Bruticus, you think he's probably a little jealous

of his universe counterpart because he's got

no pain apps on him. He's got a lot of detailing

around his legs, a lot of detailing around his

arms, both set of arms, in fact. Some of these

pieces on him you could barely even tell were

separate hands if they didn't already have knives

sticking out of them. But with a little paint,

a couple washes on him, he you'd be able to tell

pretty easily. It could have been, I'd probably

say a 25, 30 % better figure if they had used

better paint on him. And again, I blame Aaron

Archer, because this was his first deal. His

first job, his first transformer that he actually

selected the colors for. But in Aaron Archer's

defense, I would have to say, that this guy's

got so much stuff going on that Aaron probably

handed them a fully colored version that looked

just like the Predacon Bruticus repaint. And

they said, you know full well we're not going

to be able to get that much paint on him and

still sell him at a deluxe price point. And so

they probably stripped him down and stripped

him down to the point where he's at now and said,

now this we could probably sell at the deluxe

price point. Granted, he's got all sorts of stuff

on him and he's just really, really cool. He's

mysterious. Why the hell does he have a broken

chain on his leg? What's up with that? What's

this guy's past? He's got to be ten times cooler

than Wolverine. He's just badass. I think he's

got a bad rap. They didn't release him when they

should have. He didn't really fit in very well

on the RID line. He didn't get the pain apps

that he really deserved. Granted, he's got all

this stuff on him, but it's obvious that he's

got a lot of features that were never realized.

He's just a really kind of cool figure that didn't

really get the rap that he deserved. I feel bad

for him. What are you gonna do a little tear

in my tiny little dirty eye So is that all your

all your thoughts on him Well, I think I mean

we could You know bitch and whine about the fact

that he should have been named Bruticus Yeah.

I mean, I would almost say that the name server

is probably not copyrightable. But I mean, they

probably could have used it. It's probably why

they didn't use it, because you can't copyright

that name. No, you can't at all. It's probably

already copyrighted or something, I would assume.

But I don't know. Overall, it's probably not

something I would ever own and it just doesn't

sound like something that would fit into a Transformers

collection Sounds like something that wouldn't

you know sounds like something you would put

a a three inch Harry Potter figure inside the

things mouth and have its Moving around the robot

Harry Potter or a steampunk three -headed dog

Yeah, it would be cool. You know he I don't want

to say he's got a steampunk look to him, but

The built -in molding here, I should say, the

molded details, they are very armored. It looks

like armor, not so much like a robot, but like

you took an animal and encased it in armor. It's

a very cool look. Oh, and you know what? Actually,

something that I noticed earlier that I actually

read about online, too, is he's got a undisclosed

centaur mode. Yeah, so like the whole front end

stands up and You know, it's almost like he's

got four legs, but he's still kind of he's still

kind of rearing up on his waist Yes, like kind

of like half a half a robot looking thing Sitting

up on four legs. Yeah Yeah, he's cool Yeah, you

know I said to because like I said he didn't

get a he didn't get really good reviews when

he first came out because again it's like hey

where's my robot that turns into a car you know

this isn't a car that's what I was like off air

before we started this I'm like wait that doesn't

look like it has a car alt mode I was like what

the hell you know he would have been probably

one of the cooler characters or one of the cooler

figures at the tail end of the Beast Machines

line because I mean they release things like

noble savage yeah you know and he didn't even

have a well yeah he did it wasn't so much a robot

mode it was a werewolf mode kind of yeah you

know and this guy would have looked really cool

standing next to him yeah in fact i think he

was supposed to be a maximal for the beast machines

line and you know he would have looked yeah next

to the battle unicorn standing next to noble

savage he would have fit right in But in the

Robots in Disguise line, not so much. No, not

so much. Yeah. He just didn't get the credit

that he deserved. Well, I think we're going to

wrap this one up. I would also like to say this

was originally supposed to be an episode. Episode

13 I wanted because, as we all know, 13 is kind

of an unlucky number type of deal with superstitious

or whatever. But I wanted to have Pion on to

do his shattered glass version of himself and

talk about go -bots and rock lords. That has

not happened. He's busy doing stuff. I'm not

going to bother the guy, so we just decided to

go ahead and do this. However, if Toycast ever

does get an episode 66, that's probably what

that's going to be. So thank you for joining

us here on Transformers Toycast. There are several

ways to get in contact with us or leave feedback

for the show. The first is you can visit www

.geekcastradio .com and find all the other GCR

and podcasts there. The second is you can stop

by predaconempire .com slash cafe spark. and

find all the GCRN slash Transformers discussion

topics there. The third is you can leave the

show feedback on iTunes. Please do this. We love

getting reviews. We will even mention reviews

on air. I believe we talked about some reviews

last episode. That's honestly the best way to

help the show out. And I'm trying to see here

if we have any new reviews, which I don't think

that we do. Oh, we have five stars. Wow. Nice.

I actually wrote a review for the TFG1 podcast.

Cool. I'll have to look at that. Actually, we

do have four reviews now. I thought there was

a, hmm. Wow. I didn't know that. We've got one

by Optimus Scourge, one by Tater Axe, one by

Ken Curry, and then I guess, oh wow, yeah, yesterday,

August 27th, because we're recording this the

28th, a must -listen for true Transformers collectors,

I'm assuming it kind of cuts off, I'm looking

at this on the iTunes store on my iPhone, by

Rem2D, says, your love, dedication, knowledge,

and in -depth reviews of Transformers toys is

what makes this podcast a must -listen. So I

will have to look at that on the iTunes store

and see what further. See what else you said.

Yeah. Well, I mean, I'm sure that's what it said.

It's like glowing review. It's glowing review.

For people who love toys, I mean. And people,

even if you're not going to write a review at

all, just give us star rating, because star ratings

do help us. And currently, unfortunately, TFJ1

is at 3 and 1 half stars. Oh, yeah. Well, I mean,

honestly, I've read the reviews on TFJ1. And

the people who complain are basically saying

the same things that I've complained about. I

was a host there, so I'm allowed to complain.

Basically, it was a learning curve for you. It

was a learning experience. It started off slow

as you picked up speed, and then when you changed

format from single host to multi -host, it became

just a more fun show. You play very well off

of others, and you have people on your show like

myself that are funny. And it's just fun to listen

to. Ladies and gentlemen, he's trying not to

boost his own ego. I know. It's like, haha, you

are so lucky to have me, sir. I'm not trying

to say that because I wasn't on every episode.

I mean, Steve was on there, and I know you have

other people on there. And they were really funny,

even the ones that I wasn't on. Yes. You know,

also you can find us on some of our threads on

earth -2 .net. Those forums over there, they're

great guys over there. You can find those in

the self -promotion section. The fifth way to

contact us is the email address, which is tftoicastatgmail

.com. You can also follow us on Twitter. The

show name there is tftoicast. Mine is tfg1mike.

And what is your Twitter, sir? Oh, you love to

hear me spell it, don't you? it's pique or michael

it's p e c a m c t m i c h a e l m l u s e that's

right uh... we hope you enjoyed this episode

of transformers toycast and wish that you'll

join us next time for now i am tfg1mike with

michael wilson saying the moral words of optimus

prime transform and roll out and thank you for

listening until next time you
