About this Episode

The hosts close out the Disney Spotlight with ranked lists across multiple categories from the 16 films they covered. They rank the worst Disney characters, top five villains, favorite and least favorite songs, best and worst sequels, and their overall top and bottom five films from the entire spotlight arc. Mike, Tara, and Kevin share their picks with plenty of disagreement—particularly over Snow White, Cinderella sequels, and 101 Dalmatians 2.

Hello and welcome to episode 90 .5 of ToonCast,

brought to you by the GeekCast Radio Network.

You may be asking why we're doing a .5 episode.

Well, I highly doubt, and I'm taking Kevin's

advice, but I highly doubt anybody wants to...

wade through episode 90, where we covered all

three Lion King films, to get to our Disney Spotlight

wrap -up. So this is episode 90 .5 of ToonCast.

I am your host, Tio Jim, Mike, and joining me

is Kevin Optimus Solo Thompson. Hello, sir. Hello

there. Again, no accents. And the rising star,

Tara. Hello. Hey. And we're going to be putting

our Disney Spotlight back in the vault. We have

covered Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Aladdin,

Jungle Book, Sword in the Stone, Oliver and Company,

Pinocchio, the Cinderella movies, Alice in Wonderland,

Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp movies, 101 Dalmatian

movies, even though neither Tara or I actually

watched the second one, Robin Hood, Aristocats.

the Little Mermaid franchise, and the Lion King

franchise. And basically what this episode is

going to be is us giving our overall thoughts

at the end of the episode, but we're going to

give top ten lists for each of us. And five lists

and three lists and all kinds of different lists.

Yeah, it's like top worst, top best type of list.

Some have ten, some have three, some have five.

So that's what you're going to hear in this.

The first list that we're going to take care

of is the worst ten Disney characters of the

films that we have reviewed on ToonCast so far.

Before, we've got to get a disclaimer out there

first. And my disclaimer is, don't be leaving

us feedback on iTunes or commenting on our webpage

or leaving voicemails that we missed certain

characters from movies that we didn't cover.

Because we're not talking about anything from

Bambi or Fox and the Hound or Dumbo or Beauty

and the Beast or those movies because we didn't

cover them. And when I write up the description

for this episode, I will specifically state in

the description for the website and the iTunes

feed that these lists are specifically for the

episodes that we've covered on the podcast. The

16 movies and their sequels that we covered.

Yes, exactly. We'll see how smart people are.

Or aren't. Yes, exactly. So, basically, I'm going

to name off the list, and then we're each going

to go around the table. I will go first, then

Tara, then Kevin. Sweet. So, for the worst 10

Disney characters, My number 10 is the queen

slash witch from Snow White. Nice. I just, oh,

my. You mean the bitch from Snow White? Yeah,

there you go. This person, this character, I

mean, seriously? Yeah. Oh, God. Just kill me

now. Pretty freaky. Pretty freaky. So are you

going with Tara's 10 now and then around that

way? Yeah, Tara's next for number 10 on the list.

My number ten worst are the frickin' Siamese

cats from Lady and the Tramp. I totally agree.

No love for the cats. I hate them. I hate those

cats. I want to put them in a kennel. Nice. I

want to put a muzzle on both of them and tie

it together so they're like conjoining twins.

I don't support animal abuse, but... Well, you

just said you want to put a muzzle on them, so...

I was just taking it one step further. Yeah,

just because... Be like Disney. Subscribe to

Animal Violence. Just because they're so... I

hate them. I hate Disney characters so much.

My number ten is actually a tie between about

seven people. It's all of Ariel's sisters from

The Little Mermaid. Just put them all in one

group. I don't like them. They annoy me. Yes,

I agree as well. My number nine... is the Blue

Fairy from Pinocchio. What a cruel little wench.

She's so weird looking. She's so weird looking.

She serves no purpose whatsoever other than to...

She's really pretty. No, she's not really pretty.

I thought she was pretty. She just doesn't look

like she fits that movie. No, she doesn't fit

that movie at all. Tara, you knew a lot when

you were six. You probably knew how to tie your

shoes or count to ten. Apparently, I don't know

that she's ugly at six years old. What's your

number nine, Tara? Aunt Sarah. I almost put her

on my list. She's definitely going to be on my

list because I don't like her. I was very close.

I hate her. She hates dogs. I don't like people

who don't like dogs. And she's mean. Yeah, number

nine. I couldn't decide on my number nine, so

I apologize. I'm cheating, and I'm giving a bunch

of people a tie for number nine. It'll be the

only time I do this in the characters. But my

number nine goes to sisters in general. The Geese

sisters from Aristocats, the Scamp sisters from

Lady and the Tramp 2, Sis from Robin Hood, and

Marie from the Aristocats. I don't like the Disney

sisters, apparently. Yeah. My number eight is

The Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland.

I think that's an excellent choice. Off with

their head. I think that is an excellent choice.

Off with Mike's head. That's the only thing she

is good for is saying off with your head. Exactly.

Yeah, so that's my number eight. What about you,

Tara? My number eight, it's the same as Kevin's

number nine, the geese from the Aristocats. I

hate them. I don't like them as characters. They're

so annoying, and I just really would like to

go up to them and tell them to shut the hell

up. If I could. My number eight is going to cause

the universe to stop existing. Oh. My number

eight is the Queen of Hearts. Okay. Which is

exactly what you had for number eight. Okay,

well, we agree. What are the chances that we

would both put someone on the exact same number?

It happens. Great minds think alike. That's why

you're the next choice. My number seven is the

Stepsisters from Cinderella. They both have annoying,

nasally, horrid voices. They both don't know

how to dress. They have no fashion sense whatsoever.

They have ugly clothes that the mice were able

to turn into something beautiful. And they're

just bitches. No, they're not bitches. That's

putting it mildly. Yeah. Yeah. What about you,

Terry? Your next one. My number seven is Zazu

from The Lion King. He has to stick up his ass,

like we said in the Lion King episode. I don't

like him. He's annoying. He's one of the most

annoying characters from Lion King. We have had

no love for Zazu. No, I don't like him. He's

a dodo. He's a dodo. How about you guys? My next

one is the Grand Duke from... Sleeping Beauty.

No, Cinderella. Talking about guys with sticks

up their asses. Yeah, exactly. My number six.

I really fought with this one, but The Stepmother

from Cinderella. Interesting. The only reason

why I say she's a worst character is because

she's Maleficent without the horns. I mean, honestly,

it's just a copy in all senses of the word. If

you look at the woman's face, it's almost the

exact same animation model as Maleficent's face

with a few different angle changes. It's the

same type of clothing. Obviously, it's the same

voice actor. The voice was amazing. I love that

woman's voice for those characters, but it's

just a complete copy from Maleficent. Mm -hmm.

Yeah, so what about you, Tara, for number six?

Funny thing for my number six is what Kevin just

mentioned, the Duke. Or, I guess, don't say pay

tier. Yeah, there's, no, we didn't plan this

at all. No, we didn't plan this at all. Yeah,

how about you, Jeb? My next one Mike's not going

to like, but my next one is a combination of

Sir Ector and Sir Kay from Sword and Stone. I

just could not stand those two guys. All right,

I liked Sir Ector, but yeah, I agree with you

on Sir Kay. Sir Kay is a dickhead. Kay is a dumbass.

I don't like either one of them. Kay's a dumbass,

let's just say that. I like the voice for Sir

Ector, but yeah, his overall character... Number

five. Sykes. From Oliver and Company. I'm not

even going to remember who that is. I don't remember

who that is. The owner of the Dobermans. Oh,

yeah. Sykes. Gotcha. The one in the car that

died by train. He was pretty cruel. He was all

right, but it was just like, really? Pretty cruel

person. Yeah. Oh, cruel. I thought you said cool.

No, cruel. Yes. He's very cruel. Yeah, so what

about you, Tara, for number five? You're going

to laugh when you hear this. It shouldn't come

as a surprise, though. Snow White. Nice pick.

Yeah, I'll have more to say on that later. I

was just doing some research on Snow White, and

a lot of people do put her as their worst, and

I have to agree with them, because she makes

you cringe a little bit. She just looks, just

her character, like she's too... Perky, too.

How do I put it? It seems like she's on something.

I can't really put my finger on it, but she's

just... I used to love her and think she was

so pretty and blah, blah, blah, but now I see

her and I'm like, okay, one of the worst Disney

characters of all time. Yes, she is. I'm actually

going to go also with a lead character for my

number five, and Mike's not going to like me

again, I don't think, but I can't stand Peter

Pan. The actual character of Peter Pan, I just

don't like him. I liked some other characters

in that movie, but Peter Pan was not one of them.

I liked his interactions with Hook, and I liked

his trying to get the shadow back, but other

than that, yeah, he treated Wendy like crap,

and I don't like him for that. What a douche.

I know a lot of people like him, but not me.

And like Kevin earlier, he ranked the Mermaid

Sisters, and that's my number four. Oh, my God.

Please shoot me now. I never want to see those

bitches again. Oh, my God. I agree. Yes. What

about you, Tara, for number four? Edgar the butler

from the Aristocats. Another cruel animal person.

Yes. Yep. Yeah, I hate people who don't like

animals. So, yeah. I'm going to stick with my

lead characters again, and for number four, go

with Pinocchio. I don't know. The dude is so

stupid. He's letting all these characters tell

him exactly what to do, and it's like, let's

just give in to peer pressure every single time.

I just can't stand Pinocchio. Number three, Mike.

Marina Del Rey. For those of you that don't know,

Little Mermaid. Yes, she is the Ursula stand

-in for the Little Mermaid, Ariel's Beginning.

Marina Del Rey, it's an okay character. It would

have fit better if we had her as a young Ursula

instead. No, seriously. I agree with you there.

It would have been better if she was... a younger

version of Ursula because, as I said in episode

89, there would be a way to show the history

between Triton and Ursula. So that's my number

three. What about you, Tara? Drizella. Oh, the

Cinderella stepsisters, yeah. Yeah. I like Anastasia

more than I like Drizella, and I said this in

the Cinderella episode, but Drizella is just

such a fucking bitch. Yes, she is. She really

is. She's like some of the girls that I knew

in school, like in high school, and in junior

high school, who were exactly like her. And she's

just... I hate her. She is a Jap. If there's

any Disney anime here that's a Jap, it's Drizella.

My number three is going to be similar to my

number four. My number four is Pinocchio, and

my number three is Lampwick from Pinocchio. That

kid that made him smoke and drink. Oh, the donkey.

The donkey kid. First of all, he disturbed me

because I didn't like how he looked. He was a

dumbass, and then he starts turning into a donkey,

which kind of freaked me out. Yeah, I'm not a

big fan of Pinocchio or Lampwick. I would have

freaked anybody out, man. Down to the top two.

I didn't want to put this person at number two,

but it has to be there. I've got a feeling I'm

going to get upset. First of all, I don't like

the person that voiced the character, and I just

don't like the character in general. Georgette

from Oliver and Company. That's all right. Oh,

my God. Just that song that she sings. Oh, my

God. It's like nails on a chalkboard. It's like

her and Drizella got together to sing a song.

Oh, my God. Oh, God. Did anyone else want to

put cotton in their ears during that scene? Yeah,

that's exactly what you'd stare for number two.

Marina Del Rey. Excellent. We're getting a lot

of repeats now, so that means they must be bad.

Yes, yes, Kevin. My number two is also a repeat,

Snow White. I don't understand why anybody thinks

that she shouldn't even qualify as a Disney princess

because she's, first of all, ugly, and second

of all, I don't know, I just don't like anything

about her. I'll just sum it up with that. Yes,

and my number one worst Disney character of all

time, Snow White. There we go. Because of everything

that Kevin just said, plus it makes no damn sense.

She's supposed to be this young girl. She has

no, you know, there are no adults around whatsoever.

I don't think her father was ever mentioned in

the movie. It's not like Cinderella where her

father passed away. Yeah. You know, there's no

mention of a father. There's just mention of

an evil stepmother queen. And like Kevin said,

she's pretty much a frigging albino. Not that

there's anything wrong with her. No, seriously,

I mean, you know... Snow White's outline? Yeah.

She is pretty pale. Yeah, that's the character,

Snow White. Yeah, that's my number one. She's

whiter than me. Oh, dear. My number one is the

stepmother. Oh. I love the stepmother amongst

you two. No, I don't like her at all. I hate

her. I'll stay with your theme, but go a little

bit different, because my number one is Anastasia

and Drizella, the stepsisters. I can't freaking

stand those two, and every time they're on screen,

I want to throw something at the TV or shut them

off. Just put the mute button on. Can we go Cinderella

back in time and remove them from ever being

existing? Oh, yeah, they should not in the time

travel episode. Stop her from ever being pregnant.

Wow. No, make the dad not fall in love with the

stepmother. There we go. Wow. So those are your

worst Disney characters of all time, people.

Agree or disagree, let us know. We don't care

either way, though. We'll tell you you're wrong.

And yes, most definitely, especially Kevin. But

anyway. So the second top list that we're going

to do is top five Disney villains. These consist

of what we think are really, really good Disney

villains. Best villain -wise. Yes. And, of course,

again, this is just opinion. So the lists on

this one are probably going to really, really

vary. I'm going to start number five. The cards

from Alice in Wonderland. I love the cards. The

cards are awesome. They're technically not really

villains, but they're villains by association.

They're henchmen. Yeah, but they're not like

that. It's not like they have an evil plot out

there. They're technically a secondary character,

but I love the cards. Or painting the roses red.

I just love that. That's so awesome. What about

you, Tara, for number five? For number five,

I have Scar. That's interesting. I like that.

I think he was pretty well done. Can I do a tie

for honorable mention or something before I do

my number five? Am I allowed to do that? I guess,

yeah. I have to give a shout out to Scar and

Captain Hook as honorable mentions for me. They

didn't make my list, but I want to give them

a shout out. But my number five is The Wicked

Witch from Snow White. I know you said you didn't

like her, but to me, that is one of the creepiest,

scariest, most traumatic villains that Disney's

ever created. If I ever saw her on the street.

I'm pretty sure when I had nightmares as a kid,

she was in them. She was probably in them. So

they must have done a good job. I didn't want

to eat apples after that movie, I'll tell you

that. Exactly. And what about your number five,

Kev? That's my number five. Oh, okay. I'm not

paying attention at this point. All right, so

my number four is Shere Khan. That's pretty good.

Yeah, I absolutely love the tiger for Shere Khan.

It was going to be a tie between him and Ka,

because I kind of like Ka a little bit more,

but Shere Khan won out in the end. And honestly,

it's... more for... In Jungle Book, it was okay,

and obviously that's what we're doing this for,

but another thing that played into it for me

was how he was portrayed in Tailspin. Nice. Tailspin

reference, that's always good. Yes. Tara, what

about your number four? Jafar. 100 % Shafar.

I love him in Aladdin. Best choice of a villain

for that movie. He does it so well, and he's

really awesome. Number four. Number four for

me is Ursula. I think she was a very good choice

for that one, and she just embodied gross, evil,

nastiness, and just, I don't know. I just think

she was a very good villain for that movie. Yep.

My number three is Captain Hook. Captain Hook

is awesome for the simple fact that, and it would

probably be a tie between him and the croc, because

just the whole interaction between him and the

crocodile is amazing. And again, I have to make

another reference. I absolutely loved Dustin

Hoffman bringing Hook to life, especially with

the whole thing with the croc in the 1995 Hook

film. That was amazing. But the animated Hook

is a very good villain as well. Tara? My number

three is Maleficent. As I was saying prior to

this record, I believe that she is one of the

most badass... female villains in Disney villain

history. And I believe she's the only Disney

villain in the history of Disney films to actually

say the word hell in a film. Nice. Because, yeah,

the scene where she turns into the dragon and

says, I will destroy you with all the burning

fire powers of hell. Oh, yeah, that's right.

Yeah, so number three is Maleficent. Well, since

Maleficent said hell, I'll kind of be on the

same strain with devil, but this time Cruella

de Vil. No pun intended. Yeah, no pun intended.

She's pretty darn just nasty, and she's, I don't

know, she's the type of person that you would

never want to be around in your entire life,

and she's cruel, and she wants to make fur coats,

and I don't know. But I think it was well done.

Yes. And while your typical Disney villain, she

had a different look to her, so I kind of liked

that. Well, yeah, plus that's because 101 Dalmatians

had a completely different look from any other

Disney film. Yeah. What's your number two? Jafar.

I can see that. Jafar was... Plus, I already

know what your number one is, so that's all right.

And you'll find out why my number one is my number

one, because it actually is because of my number

two, but I'll bring that up when I talk about

number one. If that made any sense, which it

probably... No, it didn't. It will, eventually.

It will all make sense. But Jafar was awesome.

He was evil. He was conniving. He was short of

a... stalker towards Jasmine. Oh, yeah. So, yeah,

that's my number two. What about you, Tara? My

number two is Ursula. Got some more repeats.

Geniuses. Yeah, more repeats. Yeah, we're having

a theme here tonight. More repeats. Yeah, Ursula,

I have to agree with what you said. She embodies

evil and disgusting and vile very well. Yeah.

And she's just nasty, so. You guys have already

said all mine. My number two is Maleficent. She

turns into a freaking dragon. Enough said. That

should transition well into your number one.

Yes, my number one is Maleficent. Jafar and Maleficent

should have children. Oh, God. The reason why

I say that is because if anyone... They're both

sorcerers? Well, that, but... And they both kind

of look alike as far as their overall look and

design. The reason why I say that is because

they play so well off of each other in Kingdom

Hearts. Oh, I was just going to make that reference.

Yep. That's a pretty good choice. Yes. number

one. My number one is Cruella de Vil. Again,

we did not plan this. No, we didn't. And I love

Cruella de Vil. She's my favorite villain of

all time. Get those puppies! You know, I love

her. I love to hate her and love to love her.

Yeah. Apparently, Mike, we just needed to flip

-flop ours, because my number one is Jafar. Again,

they need to have kids. We've already said almost

as much as we could. Can you imagine it down

in Kingdom Hearts? Yeah, that would be creepy.

Maleficent turned into a dragon. Jafar turned

into a genie. That's both pretty badass things

to do, and they were already creepy enough without

those things. I think we can sum this up as the

best villains of all time are, in any order,

Jafar, Maleficent, Cruella de Vil, and Ursula.

Just make your order. So now we're going to get

into our top ten overall characters for Disney.

These are mostly hero characters for the most

part. And I think our lists are going to very

much differ. Although we've said that twice and

we've come up with almost the same list. No,

I think these lists are very much going to differ.

We'll see. My number 10 is Jasmine. I so wanted

to put her on my list. My number 10 is Jasmine

because of the fact that She is a beautiful princess.

She is one of those ones who wants to be free.

And when she does get free, she doesn't under...

Honestly, she's number 10 simply for her improvisation

in the marketplace scene. If we were making a

list of the best -looking Disney people, she

would be number one on my list. She's very pretty.

Yes. Tara, what's your number 10 for top characters?

Well, before I get to my top 10, I also have

an honorable mention, and it goes out, even though

we haven't covered it yet, it goes out to Belle

from Beauty and the Beast, because I love her,

and she's my favorite Disney character of all

time. But my number 10 goes to Timon from The

Lion King. Timon is hilarious, and he really

stands out for me growing up. So Timon is number

10 for me. I also have an honorable mention I

just want to get out of the way. It's a tie.

It's two of them that I just want to mention,

both from Disney sequels, nonetheless. I'm going

to throw out Scamp and Patch as just a shout

-out. That's all I want to give them. My number

10 is a similar character to what Tara said,

actually, is Abu from Aladdin, another one of

the comedic kind of sidekicks. And I just love

Abu, and he's hilarious, and he adds a lot to

the movie. So that's my number 10. My number

nine is the genie from Aladdin. We've had three

Aladdin mentions so far. I love genie for the

simple fact that it's Robin Williams voicing

him, and he is just so hilarious. A tie for this

would actually be the marketplace little dude

in the beginning of the film. Oh, yeah. Because

Robin Williams also voiced that character as

well. Peddler. Yeah, yeah, the Peddler. But Genie,

just amazing character. Tara, what's your number

nine? You're going to laugh. Same as what you

just said. Genie. I love Genie. And for sure,

just because, yeah, Robin Williams is amazing

as a Genie. And I love him. I am not going to

say Genie for number nine. Can I say Phil Harris?

Is that allowed? Baloo slash Little John is my

number nine. They're basically almost the same

character anyway, but just so much fun, and I

love the interaction that both of them have with

the main characters. So Baloo slash Little John

for number nine. Get out of my head, number eight.

I don't have any repeats. Yes. I just specifically

wrote down Baloo, but I do agree with you as

far as Baloo and Little John. Tara? My number

eight goes to Jasmine. Wait. How the hell did

this happen? So far we've had Abu, Jasmine twice,

and Genie twice. Yep. All right. I think with

my next one, things will change up once we get

to it. But, Kevin, what's your number eight?

Oh, let's see. My number eight, I've got to lump

these two together. It's Jack and Gus, the whatever

you want to call them, the mice from. Okay. Aw.

I forget which movie they were in. Cinderella,

but it's Jack and Gus. I don't care what the

internet says. It's Jack to me because whenever

I hear the name Jock, I think of Jock as in Jock

and Trusty. Yeah. I'll just pronounce Jock. Whatever.

Yeah. Let's not get into that. Yes. My number

seven is Adult Simba. For the simple fact that

Matthew Broderick voices him and it's Ferris

Bueller as a lion. Yeah. I also liked his character

development a little bit and just the way that

the story kind of comes full circle in Lion King

2. True. What about you, Tara, for number seven?

Aladdin. That's why number seven is Aladdin.

This is our sixth. Aladdin reference. We can

just stop recording now and just say everyone,

the whole top ten is going to be Aladdin, Aladdin,

Aladdin. Yeah, I love Aladdin just because he's

kind of badass to me. A little bit. He's just

like, he's got this attitude about him and he's

daring and dashing and he's a really cool guy,

so that's why he's my number seven. At the same

time, he's also... kind and caring because he

does give his bread away to the kids. The poor

kids, yeah. What about you, Kev, for number seven?

My number seven is the genie. So that's the seventh

Aladdin reference. And as you said, it's freaking

Robin Williams. And his performance as a genie

is one of the best acting jobs of all time. It's

just amazing, especially if you were just limited

to animated stuff. But even outside, it's just

hilarious. He makes that movie so much better.

And yeah, Genie. Yes, exactly. Number six, Mike.

Adult Kovu. The reason why... Huh? I said interesting.

The reason why I pick Adult Kovu, again, goes

to voice acting because I absolutely love the

fact that it was Jason Marsden. It also goes

to the fact of his character development. Because

he kind of... The whole Kiara and Kovu love story,

obviously, as we said in episode 90, mirrors

Simba and Nala, but Kovu has this brooding thing

about him, but he also wants to do the right

thing, but he also wants to be honorable to his

mother. But obviously, the doing the right thing

wins out in the end, so at least he makes that

good decision, kind of showing that he's not

like Scar at all. So that's one of the reasons

why I like Kovu. What about your number six,

Tara? Robin Hood. First non -Aladdin reference.

Exactly. Yeah, I love Robin Hood. He's also badass

and really cool, and he's also really funny,

like when he does the whole stork thing. Oh,

yeah. That's hilarious. And when he goes to Maid

Marian and flirts with her, and she's like, who's

this guy flirting with me? Oh, wait, it's Robin

Hood. I love Robin Hood. My number six is from

the same movie. Alan O'Dell, the rooster guy

that does the beginning and the end. Something

about him I just love. I can't explain it. I

don't know if it's the voice. I don't know if

it's the singing. I don't know if he's just all

kind of laid back and southern style type guy,

but he's just cool. My number five is the fairies

from Sleeping Beauty. Flora, Fauna, and Meriwether.

Interesting. The reason why I picked them as

my number five is because of the fight that they

have. And they start using magic, and of course

it gets them found out, but just the fact that

Flora, it's more Flora and Meriwether, not Flora,

Fauna and Meriwether. that go back and forth.

They're just kind of hilarious, and they're overall

really, really great characters. I agree. I thought

about them for a split second, but I didn't put

them in there. My number five is Pongo from 101

Dalmatians. And the reason for this is because

he is a really cool and really spunky dog. and

I love him for that. And he was just one of my

favorite dog characters from Disney. So Pongo

is my number five. My number five is actually

unique, I guess, for my list, because most of

my lists consist of the same type of people.

But I'm going to give Jiminy Cricket my number

five. That dude's so cool. How can you not like

Jiminy Cricket? I've never met anyone that doesn't

like Jiminy Cricket. It's a good thing I didn't

put him on my list for bad characters, then.

You almost did. I almost did. Jiminy Cricket's

awesome. My number four is Merlin. Blow me to

Bermuda! Merlin was awesome as a fish and a squirrel.

He was a pretty cool guy. Yeah. And he makes

them sick. Especially in that movie because it's

full of uncool guys. Yep. Just kidding. Knock

it off. What about you, Tara? What's your number

four? My number four is the original Cinderella.

So Cinderella from the first movie, not the second

movie. Because I love her. She's just, she's

awesome. And great heroine. So, yeah, Cinderella.

Gavin? My number four is actually Thomas O'Malley

from the Aristocats. Because he is the... essence

of cool cat like he's a cool cat he is just a

pimp and he just struts around and he but he

also cares about the kids and he's a romantic

guy but he's also i don't know i thomas o'malley

he's a he's cool Just like Sebastian's a pimp

and crab. Exactly. This is really, really weird.

And again, I have to say to the listeners and

to the Ustream viewers, I think we only have

one person on Ustream right now, David. Thank

you for coming out, David. Kevin's number four

and my number three would probably get into a

fight over coolness. Nice. The artful Dodger

from Oliver and Company. Billy Joel as Dodger.

Oh, man, I love that character. Thomas O'Malley

would win that fight, though. No, Dodger's...

Dodger almost made it, like, at number 10 for

me, but... Dodger is awesome for a couple of

reasons. Dodger is awesome because it's Billy

Joel in his first ever and probably... I think

it's his first ever and only voice role, as far

as I know. I know it's his first ever voice role.

I don't know if it's the only thing he's done

in voice acting, but it just... The character

of Dodger was very, very cool in that movie.

What about you, Tara, for number three? Funny

you should mention number three. It's Sebastian.

Like I said, pimp and crab. Can't go wrong with

that. I feel bad. The rest of mine have already

been set by people. Number three is Simba. Preferably

the young Simba, but just Simba in general. I

don't know. I could just relate to him so much.

Maybe it was just because he lost his dad. I

don't know what it was, but I just loved Simba.

I don't know. He was just a cool lion. He wasn't

a cool cat. He was a cool big cat. Number two,

Mike. Flounder. Both from Little Mermaid 1 and

Little Mermaid 2. One of the reasons why I liked

him in 2, as I said in Episode 89, was because...

We got to see what happened to Flounder, and

he actually grew up and, you know, has a life,

I guess, under the sea. But Flounder was always

really cool. He's Ariel's best friend. I really

like Flounder. Aw. Number two, Tara. My number

two has already been said as well. It is the

adult version of Simba. Again, Ferris Bueller

as a lion. You can't go wrong. Yes. True. Kevin?

My number two, to go back to what we were doing

before, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.

The eighth reference now, Aladdin. Come on. Every

boy would trade places with Aladdin in a heartbeat.

Of course. First of all. He has a genie and a

magic carpet and a monkey. And any guy that,

you know, if you're a boy and you're offered

a magic carpet, a genie, and a monkey, you're

in heaven. And then you get to marry the hottest

Disney character of all time in Jasmine and become

royalty. Someone tell me how you can top that.

Good deal right there, man. Only that Hobbit

in real life. I want to be a lad. Mike, what's

your number one? Robin Hood. Yes, Robin Hood

is amazing just for the simple fact that he talks

Little John into doing all this stuff. And again,

for the fact that Disney can pull off stuff like...

Robin Hood in drag, copping a feel on Little

John. Oh, no. Not that scene again. Oh, God.

Let's not go there again. That was just so hilarious.

I found that really, really funny. I didn't notice

that until you screenshot it and put it up. Then

you know I can't help but look there. We had

one, two, three, four, five, we had eight references,

and Aladdin did not make your list. No, he didn't.

I like Aladdin. He's really, really great. But

I was trying to come up with my number one overall

character. And one of the reasons why I like

Robin Hood is because he is kind of the originator

to one of my DC heroes, one of my Justice League

heroes that I like, which is Green Arrow. So

that's why Robin Hood gets number one. I mean,

Aladdin is awesome. I agree with what you guys

said, but I don't know. I was just going off

the top of my head when I was making the list.

Oh, that makes sense. That's okay. So your number

one is Robin Hood, and Tara, your number one

is? My number one is Ariel. I love Ariel. I love

Little Mermaid. And Ariel, to me, is just an

amazing character. She embodies a teenage girl

so well. And I just love her, so that's why I

gave Ariel number one. And since I can't put

Bella's number one, Ariel gets number one. I'm

sure we'll have another recap show when we get

to the Disney season. My number one best character

of all time is, like Mike, Robin Hood. He is

just... With everything that I said about Aladdin,

Aladdin probably should be my number one, but

Robin Hood just has that extra old -school cool

factor. He's just a smooth operator, and I don't

know. I go with Robin Hood. Yes, and we're going

to kind of switch it up a little bit. We're going

to actually talk about least favorite songs and

most favorite songs from the Disney films and

stuff. I think we're going to switch the order

up as well. Tara, Kevin, then me, because I didn't

actually write any down. Tara, what are your

least favorite songs? Do you want me to go through

all of them or just one at a time? I don't think

we're all going to have the same amount on this

one, so just go through whichever songs you don't

like. All right. My first one is The Morning

Report. From The Lion King. Yes, The Lion King.

I hate that song. Second one is The Siamese Cat

Song. Yeah. Don't want to hear that song ever

again. Scales and Arpeggios from the Aristocats.

It's so annoying. It's a really annoying song.

And another one is He's a Tramp from Lady and

the Tramp. I just really don't like it. Sorry,

guys. I just don't like it. I don't like that

one either. I didn't think about that one, but

I don't like it either. I agree with you on the

Morning Report. That song's terrible. I don't

really have a ton of Disney songs I just hate.

but half of them from Alice in Wonderland I hate.

Specifically the one when they're with the walrus

and whatever, but the one that I'm thinking of

most of is the flower song, All in the Golden

Afternoon. I just could have done without that

whole scene, so the song just didn't help much.

I'm sure there's other songs I don't like, but

I just can't think of them right off the top

of my head. I'm going to cheat and agree with

all of you. Because seriously, at this point,

I can't, I mean, you know, Morning Report I agree

with. The Golden Flower song I agree with. You

know, I'm trying to think if there was, oh, I

couldn't stand it because of just the way the

song was. It's not that I don't like the scene,

but the whole, the song that Louie and Baloo

danced to in Jungle Book, I just, Was it King

Like Me or Swing Like Me or whatever? I didn't

like that scene in the movie, but it's more so.

I didn't really care for that song. Oh, I know

what is actually the worst song of all. Drizella

singing Anything. Let's not have Drizella sing

ever or even open her mouth. So now we're going

to switch it up to favorite songs, and I'm actually

going to go ahead and take this one really quick.

Circle of Life, Can't Wait to be King, Street

Rat. What's the other one? Oh, man. Not Bippity

Boppy, but what the hell is the one in Sword

in the Stone? I don't know. I don't like any

of the songs in Sword of the Stones, so I don't

know. It's the one where Merlin is teaching him

crap, I can't think of. Just Google it. All the

stuff and the squirrel. Just Google it, Mike.

Everyone knows what you're talking about. What

was the other one? If I had to pick an overall

most favorite song, it would probably be... The

number that Genie did going into the palace on

the giant Apu elephant. Gotcha. Prince Ali? Yeah,

Prince Ali. There you go. What about you, Tara?

My favorite songs in no particular order is Under

the Sea, A Whole New World, Hakuna Matata, Can

You Feel the Love Tonight, and Part of Your World.

Yes, I agree with most of those. They're all

beautiful songs. Yeah. I actually only have three

songs that are not part of either Lion King,

Little Mermaid, or Aladdin. One of them is Once

Upon a Time in New York City. I don't know why.

I just like that song. Most of the songs from

Robin Hood, especially Nottingham, Bare Necessities

from Jungle Book, Hakuna Matata, Under the Sea,

Kiss the Girl. But my top four would be Part

of Your World, One Jump Ahead from Aladdin. I

just can't wait to be king from Lion King, and

easily my all -time favorite is A Whole New World.

Aw. Good choices. Yep. Now we are going to move

into what Kevin really hates, which is top three

and bottom three Disney sequels, basically best

and worst Disney sequels. Oh, get me started.

I'm going to start with the worst. So my bottom

three are... Number three, Cinderella 2. Number

two, Little Mermaid 3, or Little Mermaid Ariel's

Beginning. And number one, 101 Dalmatians 2,

Patch's London Adventure. Ridiculous. You're

not saying that because of me. No, not actually.

There's no way that is worse than my number one.

Okay, well, what's your top three? You know what

I mean. All Disney sequels are pretty bad, but

the worst of the worst are tied on number three

for me between Little Mermaid 3, which was on

Mike's list. And I actually know some people

like it, and I think you like it, Mike, but I

do not like Return of Jafar. It's okay, but I

don't like it. I prefer Aladdin and King of Thieves.

Yeah, so that's my tie for three, Little Mermaid

3 and Return of Jafar. My number two is Lion

King 1 1⁄2. I wanted to like it, but it just

doesn't work. Yeah, I know. And easily, easily

the worst Disney sequel of all time, way worse

than 101 Dalmatians 2, is Cinderella 2. It was

on my list. It was a number three. It should

have been number one. No. Let's do Tara for your

worst. My worst? Oh, Cinderella 2. No surprise

there. Little Mermaid 3. And Lion King 1 1⁄2.

Wow. I agree with Tara. Enough said. All right,

and top three Disney sequels mine are number

three is Lady and the Tramp 2, number two is

Cinderella 3, and number one is The Lion King

2. Interesting. Cool. My top three sequels, even

though they're still sequels, number three is

a tie between Lady and the Tramp 2. And 101 Dalmatians

2. Barf! My number two, it's much better than

Mike admits. And number two is Simba's Pride,

Lion King. And number one is King of Thieves

from Aladdin. Nice. What about you, Tara, for

top three sequels? Mine, number three, Aladdin

3, King of Thieves. Number two, Aladdin 2. No,

Aladdin is not on. Yeah, sorry. These are just

the sequels to Aladdin. And my number one top

sequel is Lion King number two, Simba's Pride.

I agree with two of them. We didn't plan this

at all. No, guys, we didn't talk about this at

all on Skype. No, seriously, we didn't. Because

I was sitting here, while I was talking, I was

like a little mermaid, and I was just like mumbling

off titles, and Kevin's like, shut up, don't

tell us now, we'll all go. So we didn't know

that. We didn't know any of these top lists ahead

of time. We just kind of went with the flow,

and then it turns out that we have the same ideas.

Except for that 101 Dalmatians stuff. 101 Dalmatians

2 is the worst. Oh, God. It's not worse than

Cinderella 2. I watched 20 minutes of it, and

I couldn't even watch the rest. All right. Finally,

for the top lists, we're going to do the top

and bottom five Disney movies. Out of the 16,

we're covered. Right. Out of the 16 episodes

and 16 movies that we covered on ToonCast. And

I think we're just going to list these off. Each

person is going to each give their top five.

So my bottom, well, you know what I mean. Each

person is just going to say really quick what.

My bottom five is five, Cinderella, four, Aristocats,

three, Peter Pan, two, Pinocchio, and number

one is Snow White. Your hate for Aristocats astounds

me. I don't. It's a cat version of 101 Dalmatians.

But anyway, Kevin, what about you for your bottom

five? All right. Number five, 101 Dalmatians.

Number four, Peter Pan. Number three, Snow White.

Number two, Pinocchio. Sorry, Mike. Number one,

Sword in the Stone. What? What the hell is wrong

with you? I hate that movie. It doesn't even

fit. I don't even know how it's a Disney classic.

Anyway, go ahead, Tara. Bottom five. Number five,

Jungle Book. Number four, Lady and the Tramp.

Number three, Sleeping Beauty. Number two, Oliver

and Company. And number one, should come as no

surprise, Snow White. My jaw dropped when I heard

a couple of those. Yeah, my jaw dropped when

I heard Jungle Book. Wow. I agree with Snow White.

Yeah. What other ones did you guys not agree

with? I kind of like Lady and the Tramp, and

I know Mike likes Oliver and Company. Yeah, I

like Oliver. So now we're going to do top five.

Number five, Sword in the Stone. Number four,

Oliver and Company. Number three, 101 Dalmatians.

Hold on, we've got to stop right there. What?

Three movies that one of the other people had

on their worst list. Number two, Robin Hood.

And number one, The Lion King. Give me credit

for those two. Bye, Kevin. My top five, again,

my jaw dropped when I heard Tara say it. Number

five is Jungle Book for me. Number four, Robin

Hood, like Mike had. Number three, Little Mermaid.

Number two, Lion King. And number one, it should

be no secret what type of Disney movies I like,

Aladdin. Nice. I still put Lion King ahead of

Aladdin, but whatever. I like Aladdin a little

better. Tara, what about you for your top five?

All right. Number five, Cinderella. Number four,

Aladdin. Number three, Robin Hood. Number two,

The Little Mermaid. And number one, The Lion

King. Excellent. Thank you. I agree with your

tops. You like my bottoms, but you like my tops.

Okay, let's move on to some commercials, and

we'll be back after this. I wanted to be called

a pervert, though. I knew that was going to be

a sexual connotation right there. I didn't even

think of it until Mike said something. Mike,

you should not have opened your mouth, and it

wouldn't have gone weird. Okay, now for a commercial

break. Dunecast will be back after these messages.

Sword of Omens, give me sight beyond sight. I

see a new episode of ToonCast coming this week.

Now that's ToonCast. It is time to put this spotlight

back in the vault, and it will not come, it will

not reappear or reopen the vault until ToonCast

Beyond. Sometime, I think it's season four or

season five of ToonCast Beyond, so Kevin, final

thoughts on the Disney spotlight for ToonCast.

I gotta say, I really enjoy the fact that I re

-went through and watched almost all the Disney

films. Obviously, there's been a few that we're

not covering quite yet, but I like the fact that

I re -watched some of these, because some of

them I haven't watched since I was a kid, and

I like to finally know once and for all what

I feel about some of these films. For the most

part, I could have guessed on some of them. I

knew my favorite movies were the late 80s, early

90s Disney movies. I knew that, and I was not

surprised. It reaffirmed how much I love Robin

Hood, too. It reaffirmed how much Disney sequels

suck, in my opinion. And my biggest thing is,

out of this, I think... The old movies are not

necessarily the best movies, people. I'm sorry.

Some of the early Disney stuff sucked. But I

enjoy how we got to see things progress over

time. We kind of did it, not the first couple

episodes, but then we kind of did it in year,

air date order, and that kind of... let us see

some of the progressions, some of the same voice

actors that were being used, etc. I learned a

lot as far as some of the behind -the -scenes

and the voice actor stuff, but I don't know.

I really enjoyed it, and I really enjoyed having

to watch the regular Disney films again. I did

have to go through some torture of watching the

sequels, though, so I do not look back fondly

upon that. Yeah. And Tara had just joined us

on episode 81, so she wasn't here for the first

part of the spotlight. We recovered Sleeping

Beauty, Snow White, Aladdin, Jungle Book, Oliver

and Company, and Sword in the Stone. So how are

you liking your time on the Disney Spotlight

here on ToonCast? Oh, it's been a blast. I've

really enjoyed joining you guys here on the ToonCast

and getting to chat about some of my favorite

and not -so -favorite Disney films. It's been

quite a journey, and ironically... It was a last

-minute, you know, me coming and joining the

Disney spotlight. I found out you were talking

about the Cinderella franchise. Yeah. And I just

remember that conversation, and you're like,

hey, you want to come on the podcast? Yeah. And

you liked me so much, you're like, okay, you

can be a regular co -host on the podcast. There

you go. Mike, are you going to put a link in

the post on the website for the YouTube video?

Actually, I'm going to put it for both videos,

yeah. Okay. My video and your video. Yeah. Yeah,

Kevin made a really, really great ToonCast Disney

Spot Look Back video, even though some of the

text is kind of skewed. No, I mean, in your first

overall attempt at doing that, it came out very

well done. Actually, as the outro to this episode,

you guys are going to get a treat. I don't know

how much a treat that is. Hold on. I'll talk

about that more once we get to the end of the

outro, but you guys are going to get a treat

at the end of this episode. What are your final

thoughts on the spotlight, Mike? I'm really glad

that we decided to do it. I almost wish that

I had a better plan for it, and I almost wish

that I had broken it up differently rather than

starting it with Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.

And then us doing our favorites. I like that

we did it that way, but I almost wish that we

would have started in air date and just broken

it up into two volumes like we did. I don't care

what Kevin says, but there are some, not all,

but there are some Disney sequels that are good.

Some. That's relatively speaking. Some, not all.

There's maybe like 10 % of them. are good sequels.

In the world of sequels, some are better than

others. Lion King 2 was a great sequel because

it, you know, as I said in episode 90, you know,

Lion King specifically set up for there to be

a sequel. I mean, they probably didn't do it

intentionally when they filmed the movie or when

they put the movie together, but the whole plot

of that movie and the ending, it just set itself

up for a sequel. And the sequel was carried out

very well. Yes, there is a few plot holes in

it, but overall, that was a very good sequel.

I enjoyed Aladdin and the King of Thieves as

a sequel. I enjoyed... What was the other one?

Christ. Cinderella 3 as a sequel. It was very

well done. What? Lady and the Tramp 2, I thought

you had said. Yeah, I like that, but that more

so reminds me of an animated version of Homeward

Bound 2. No, I mean, seriously, we talked about

that when we did Lady and the Tramp episode.

Overall, I'm really glad that the spotlight has

gone the way it's gone, and regardless of what

some moron on iTunes feels that we put too many

sexual condendations in episode 81 with Pinocchio

and... Run Jeremy and all that crap. It was still

hilarious. But anyway. Anyways. Yeah, so overall,

I'm glad that we did do the Disney spotlight.

And I have to call out Pecan Court Michael. He's

another one of our co -hosts. He hasn't been

hosting for a while, but we plan on bringing

him back fairly soon. He's been on a couple episodes

of ToonCast, actually. But when I originally

showed him the schedule of the Disney spotlight,

he's like... These are all Disney films. Why

are you just talking about Disney films, like,

within 12 episodes? And I was like, well, it's

a spotlight on the Disney films. Oh, well, there

are so many other great cartoons you could be

talking about. I was like, well, you know, we've

got to fit it in somewhere, because when ToonCast

first started, you know, I had a plan, but I

didn't, like, have it fully, you know. fully

developed yet, and I wasn't sure, and Kevin and

I had talked about this, do we want to just do

cartoon series like Mask, like Thundercats, like

Silverhawks, like, you know, stuff like that,

or do we want to expand it to animated films?

And we decided to expand it to animated films

since that's also a part of our childhood. And

that's the whole point of ToonCast, is the cartoons

we grew up with. Not just series, but movies

as well. And we've covered some that weren't

series either. We've covered some that were basically

just shorts. Um, you know, as far as like some

of the older stuff that wasn't necessarily a

television series, it was more like theatrical

shorts. So it's basically anything like Tom and

Jerry and Looney Tunes and stuff like that. Yeah.

Right. Um, but I always see those as, as I know

they're not episodic and they are theatrical

shorts, but I always see Looney Tunes nowadays

as episodes because just the way that the DVD

formats them out and all that stuff. But yeah,

anyway, I digress. Uh, so yes, overall, great,

great Disney spotlight. It's been great being

a part of this, and just thank you so much for

letting me, you know, do this. And unfortunately,

this will be Tara's last episode until, I think,

episode 90... It actually depends on what episode

92 will be, but this will be her last episode

until episode 100, because my overall plan when

I first came up with TenCast is episode 93 to

99 is going to be the DC Animated Universe episodes,

I should say. Teen Titans is not in continuity.

And for Kevin, I think 91, the next episode,

91, will be his last episode for a while. That's

right, folks. I'm taking another leave. At least

we wanted to bring you back through phone lines.

Or through the Skype outer space. Also leave

voicemails, though. I won't because I know nothing

about the cartoons you're covering. Yeah, he's

not a DC Animated Universe fan. Shame on you.

I'm a bit of a DC Animated Universe fan. Just

a bit. Not as much as you. So thank you for joining

and wish you'll join us next time when Kevin

and I will be joined once again by Dion the Music

Man. Dion has not been on the show since episode

6, A Pup Named Scooby -Doo. He will be making

his triumphant return with Top Cat. Considering

that Tara never heard of it, she had to Google

it and still didn't know it, and she was too

young when it came out. For now, I am TF2 and

Mike with... Optimus Solo from BehindTheVoiceActors

.com. And Tara the Rising Star. Thank you for

listening. Until next time. And now, that special

feature. You're going to be hearing Disney songs,

but you're going to have to really listen because...

There is a surprise guest singer, and that's

all I'm going to say, and we will leave you with

that. I can show you the world Shining, shimmering,

splendid Tell me, princess, now when did you

last Let your heart decide I can open your eyes

Take you wonder by wonder, over sideways and

under, on a magic carpet ride. A whole new world,

a new fantastic point of view. No one to tell

us no, of where to go, or say we're only dreaming.

they'd look closer. Would they see a poor boy?

No siree. They'd find out there's so much more

to do. Bare necessities, the simple bare necessities.

mean the bare necessities are Mother Nature's

to take a sudden chill. Cruella, Cruella, she's

through the forest, laughing back and forth at

what the other has to say. Having this and this

and that and having such a good time. Oodalally,

In somebody else's lake You dream about going

up there But that is a big mistake Just look

at the world around you Right here on the ocean

floor Such wonderful things surround you What

more are you looking for? Under the sea Under

the sea Down where it's better Down where it's

wetter Take it from me Up on the shore they work

all day Out in the sun they slave away While

we're devoting full time to floating under the

sea Yes, you see her Sitting there across the

way She don't got a lot to say But there's something

about her You don't know why But you're dying

to try You wanna kiss the girl Did you hear something?

Yes, you want her. Look at her, you know you

do. It's possible she wants you too. There is

one way to ask her. You don't take a word, not

a single word. Go on and kiss the girl. Sing

with me now. My, oh my, look at the boy too shy.

Go on and kiss the girl. Ain't that sad? It's

so little hair. I'm gonna be the main event like

the king was before. I'm brushing up on looking

down. I'm working on my roar. And thus far, a

rather uninspiring thing. Oh, I just can't wait

to be king. Well, that's a long way to go, young
