They also share their thoughts on the James Gunn firing from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and the announced Rugrats revival.

You're tuned in to Steve Megatron on Altered

Geek. Hello, and welcome to Altered Geek. I'm

your host, Steve Megatron Phillips, and joining

me on this episode is... TF2 and Mike. Yes, the

dynamic duo return, and I am back from vacation,

so... Mm -hmm. Hopefully refreshed. Whereas I

feel like I'm, you know... Either original recipe

or extra crispy at this point because I feel

burnt out beyond all hell what's funny is I I

was completely like relaxed and like good vacation

and come back and I'm like I'm like life resumes.

Mm -hmm. I was because that was like the most

peaceful relaxing vacation For like a family

camp. So like it was great Yeah, you guys did

a vacation Bible study thing, right? It wasn't

even totally that I mean, yeah, they had Learning

aspects in in the the mornings and then the evenings

but and then all kinds of like fun activities

throughout the day, but like it was It was seriously

like refreshing as a whole I mean, I just remember

seeing Mary sharing the event, and it said on

it, Vacation Bible Study, so that's why I even

said... No, that's different. That's for the

kids. The family camp is totally different. You

actually go away to a camp. And I also get to

tour a television studio. There you go. So that

was kind of cool, too. Was it Fox because Comcast

ain't buying them? No, but the funny thing was

is it used to be a Fox station that got bought

up by like a Christian radio station, so. Oh,

so it's kind of like it was an old Fox studio,

though, but it got bought up, which was which

was it was like this monstrously large like it

seemed like it was a never ending like system

of tunnels. of rooms, it was huge, but it was

awesome. I was like, I would work here. But yeah,

there's not the payroll for that right now, but

yeah. But yeah, so I mean, it was a nice, relaxing

vacation. And then I come back and I'm like,

oh, Comic -Con happened while I was gone. And

I was like, not only do I have to clear out my

email, But now I have to catch up on like an

entire week's worth of news, which is like a

dumpster fire worth of of content. Almost. OK,

so there wasn't a lot of news Wednesday and Thursday.

As soon as Friday and Saturday hit, I was posting

stuff left and right Friday and Saturday for

Comic Con Weekend this year for San Diego Comic

Con. And I could just could not stop. There was

just so much of it. And it's not even a week.

It's like. two days worth of content you know

two days worth of news for all these geeky things

that we love and it's like oh pick and choose

pick and choose and i'll tell you right now folks

most of the stuff we're going to talk about tonight

is dc related there's one marvel thing um but

uh yeah dc pretty much took over comic -con this

year as far as the superhero stuff Mean Marvel

has had the year of the movie with 2018. They've

had Avengers Infinity War. They've had Ant -Man

and the Wasp. They're gonna have Whatever other

ones they're gonna have later this year, but

DC kind of ruled the roofs when it came to superheroes

yeah, I I did notice that between their DC service

between Aquaman, between Shazam, between Wonder

Woman 2 stuff, between the CW content, between

all of their animated stuff coming back, their

exclusive stuff for their service, from just

a multitude of things. They were all over the

place. And I have not watched any of the trailers

yet. I didn't catch up on that. So we'll do a

trailer talk in the next Altered Geek after Steve's

gotten to watch all the trailers. So yeah, there

is that. I watched a few trailers from things,

but nothing DC related. What I did watch was

like the Orville and Discovery Season 2. Discovery

Season 2, I kind of saw this coming too. They

tease Captain Pike is going to take command of

the Discovery. Ah, so is it old Captain Pike

or is it young Captain Pike? It's young. It's

Captain Pike from The Cage. They got the guy

from the Inhumans show to portray Captain Christopher

Pike. So he's basically playing the version that

Jeffrey Hunter did back in the 60s. Oh, okay

so it's it's kind of a Based on the timeline

he's fitting with that version of the character

And they tease that they're gonna have Spock

show up in the show because they tied the whole

like Issue of the season into him for some reason

and Pike is taking command of the Discovery,

even though he's Captain of the Enterprise. Although

Rebecca Romaine is going to be playing number

one, that Majel Barrett, the wife of Gene Roddenberry,

the creator of Star Trek, Rebecca Romaine is

going to be playing number one. The character

that she played, which was the first officer

of the Enterprise, should be Captain of the Enterprise,

along with Pike being Captain of the Discovery.

um temporarily anyway for both so that'll that'll

be an interesting thing to see how this whole

thing plays out but i think it's kind of a cop

out making pike the captain of the discovery

like he's like order regulation blah blah blah

blah and then you know section 31 is in the show

now and i'm willing to see where it goes uh because

i think that it's gonna be a little bit better

than season one because it'll have room to grow

I'm just hoping if they do bring in Spock and

Zachary Quinto Yeah Because I kind of see him

as the definitive handoff from Leonard Nimoy.

Well, yeah, absolutely Really? What else is he

doing? Yeah, so Even though it could be confused

with the Kelvin universe. I would like to see

him reprise it But yeah, so I watched those and

both those series I'm looking forward to as far

as sci -fi is related But yeah, I have yet to

catch up on all the DC related content, although

I did catch some of the news. And there's certain

things which we can get to later of what I'll

be looking forward to and what I'm not. Young

Justice 3 looks, you know, season 3 looks interesting.

Yeah. Young Justice looks good. Shazam and Aquaman

both look good. They look good because they're

lighter in tone. Yeah. They're not so like gravelly

and dark. Yeah, and I think that works. I think

that they need to do like it's okay if they want

to do crossovers Yeah, I think they they need

to build all the rest of the universe with their

characters kind of the way Marvel did but not

really like they need to focus on their standalone

films Yeah, and then if there's the need for

a crossover then do it in the natural progression

not a forced progression like what they've done

thus far You know basically like the CW Uh -huh.

So... That being said... Well, the thing about

the DC... Film se - the DC film side... Is they

also announced this past weekend at Comic -Con...

It's no longer the DC Extended Universe, it's

now Worlds of DC! So there's that, it now has

a... The universe now has a name. Which is too

convoluted. Yeah. It's too long, too convoluted.

That's all right, when AT &T takes possession,

they'll change it. I mean, well, Worlds of DC

is not that bad, it's three words. The DC extended

your expanded universe, that's too long. But

Worlds of DC is not bad, it's just a stupid name.

It is a stupid name, but it isn't that bad. I

have watched all of the CW stuff. Finally, after

three seasons. I might actually be interested

in Supergirl again because they're going to use

that show to introduce Batwoman, which is epic.

They're going to have Sam Witwer who played Darth

Maul in The Clone Wars and Rebels playing Agent

Liberty. But I actually give two craps of raisins

towards Batwoman. I have no interest in that

show. I'm about to well I'm in the process of

redoing the pullback schedule for this year and

for September I'm about to read through the entire

new 52 run of Batwoman to get ready for This

new show just so I can have some sort of not

I know of the character I know who the character

is I know that Certain things about her, but

I don't know a lot of her stories and just the

sheer fact that they finally got a Bat in the

CW universe. I don't care that it's not out.

No, it's not They're doing it because it's the

easiest one for them to pull from because they

don't want to make a film of it and She's a third

tier character that they're trying to put on

the forefront. And it's also because of the whole

pushing the PC side of it. There's multiple reasons

I say that. For those of you that don't know,

Kate Kane Batwoman is a lesbian. I don't think

putting her in, I don't think their decision

to use her has anything to do with being PC or

being whatever. I don't think it is either, but

I think that because CW is getting more on that

wavelength, that's where I... Kind of just I

mean turn off for crap, but I for crap sake Kevin

cold is gay They've had that for god knows how

long well the actor is too, but I know that's

what I'm saying Yeah, I mean, but that's that

and and so was you know Supergirl sister in super

but and What's his name and an arrow but? Yeah,

I Honestly my not watching it has nothing to

do with that It has to do with the fact that

I want Batman on the screen and I don't really

care about that character like Batgirl I would

be more interested in because there's more history

with that character Well, there's plenty. I mean,

there's like I said, I'm about to dive into it

over on the pullback, but there's plenty of history

with Batwoman There's not as much as with Batgirl

or any of the others but there's there's plenty

of room for them to create stories with it and

I don't think it's that bad of a thing because

Who knows maybe they'll try to because okay.

So for those of you that don't know Maggie Sawyer

Who was Alex's love interest for a while on Supergirl

is Actually, if I I'm pretty sure I have this

right. She is actually batwoman's love interest

at one point or another throughout history. So

Maybe we'll see that actress again from from

Supergirl. I don't know I'm just excited to see

a bat villain on TV. That isn't as dark as all

hell You know because the CW stuff is pretty

At this point in any of those shows, most of

it's over -the -top corniness. There are some

dark turns and things like that, but it's not

as dark as the BS that was BBS or Justice League

or whatever. And I haven't even seen Justice

League yet. I'm not even judging that film at

all. I'm just saying that the CWTV universe for

DC is a hell of a lot lighter and brighter than

the film universe. Oh, it is. They're gonna have

the crossover between Arrow, Supergirl, and The

Flash to bring in Batwoman and introduce her

show and I've Like for me I've already I'm waiting

to see what they do with Arrow but Depending

on how they they kick off the beginning of the

season depends on whether I continue with it.

I won't be continuing black lightning just because

I it was good I just I just don't really want

to watch another superhero show I haven't seen

it yet I need to eventually it's good it's just

I don't I don't really want to pick up another

show yeah and same reason why I dropped like

agents of shield and like all these other ones

a long time ago but I'm thinking about dropping

Supergirl at this point Until this announcement

of the whole Batwoman thing, I was ready to...

Supergirl is just... Season 2 and 3 were horrible.

Season 3 was so bad, I just kept telling Karen,

I'm like, why are we still watching this? Like,

it's just so bad. I love how all of the news

outlets and everything else made it such a big

deal. Oh one shows getting left off the The crossover

this year legends of tomorrow is not well. I'm

like, okay. So what who cares? That's fine They're

doing something new and different and the legends

have their own stuff to deal with just because

legends is I could see if flash wasn't in there

or whatever that might be a bigger deal, but

that's like I just Sensationalizing the fact

that Legends of Tomorrow is not a part of a yearly

crossover, that's just stupid. Yeah. I mean,

I'm fine with Legends not being in the crossover.

Yeah. Because there's really not a reason for

it. And they're going to crossover, like not

the big crossover, but they're going to have

crossover. Little things throughout whatever,

but you know each of the shows is kind of it

has been coming into their own thing so Yeah,

but but yeah like as far as as far as the CW

shows are concerned like I'm only gonna really

stick with arrow flash and legends I'm not gonna

watch and I'm even dropping Supernatural this

season like I'm there's a number of shows. I'm

just I'm kind of done Yeah, as a whole like I've

been watching them for so long and and some of

them I just I'm burnt out So I'd rather not keep

going Now if any of the CW shows actually brought

Batman to the big screen Small screen I say big

screen because like maybe they would actually

have him like I Don't know show up for once uh,

because I doubt he's gonna even be in Titans

despite the fact that Robin Dick Grayson is gonna

be on there. Okay, so I'm just gonna put this

in here and you can do whatever you want to with

it in the editing, but you have to let me say

this. That show is not called Titans, it's called

Fuck Batman. Everybody blew that line out of

proportion over the weekend for the news when

he said that in the trailer. Oh my god. Yeah,

I haven't watched the show. Oh god. I don't even

know. I'm just kind of waiting to see what they

do. No, I like the outfits that they have for

Titans. For the characters, they actually look

very CW mixed with live action films. So it's

got that nice kind of style like more more money

behind it than than CW, but it's it's got the

aesthetic Yeah So it's kind of a nice mesh there

And I'm interested to see what they do with legends

obviously but As far as the live -action stuff

Shazam's costume actually looks pretty freakin

sweet. Yep Think that that's gonna be a pretty

fun and solid movie just like Aquaman Yep Yeah,

Aquaman looked really good, and I'm they didn't

show it in the trailer But I'm almost hoping

since the premise of the movie based on the trailer

is that he has to go down there and stop his

evil brother Orm because Orm is king currently

I'm hoping that they pull the whole line of Orm

basically Trapping him and he has to cut his

own arm off to save his son or something because

that's what happened in the Justice League cartoon

from years ago Was they did Aquaman had to cut

his own arm off? Yep, and that's how we got the

hook for a hand So do they do that in the trailer?

I know they don't that's what I'm saying. I'm

wondering if that's going to happen in the film

because of the fact that Orm is the current king

as far as the plot line is and basically Orm

wants to go to war with the surface world and

They have to convince Mira has to convince Arthur

to go down there and basically become the rightful

king All right, so One of the other big DC things

finally, we don't I don't think there's a date

in here But it's in August. It's August. Okay

DC streaming service It's gonna be Well, it's

gonna be coming out this fall. Yeah, that's what

I think that they're gonna give like beta access

to people in in August Yeah, but it's it's gonna

cost 74 95 Can also opt for the 799 per month?

Okay, so it's 799 a month or 75 bucks a year

With everything I've seen from the comic -con

panels and things of what's gonna be on this

thing Would you pay for it? For the year? Oh

yeah! It's very tempting because you can watch

the shows, not only old, but the new stuff, you

can read comics, you can buy things, like their

shop, and you can have basically a specialized

message board for connecting with other DC fans.

Yeah, I don't really much care about the message

board aspect of it, but the rest of it, oh yeah.

But overall as a whole, it's a pretty solid...

concept, which I didn't think was going to happen.

But yeah, it's gonna be interesting to see what

they do with it when it... When it comes together

even with the the the new Doom Patrol with the

new Titans with swamp thing with the Harley Quinn

It'll be interesting to see how they they pull

all those off and then what where they go from

there You know Now what is the the thing with

the three jokers that you okay the the three

jokers? Jeff John's and Jason Fabric's long tease

three jokers story is coming and it's part of

DC's new black label imprint So before we talk

about that we have to talk about black label

So black label is their new imprint that they're

gonna be starting Creating DC Black Label doubles

down on our commitment to working with all -star

talent and trusting them to tell epic moving

stories that only they can tell with the highest

levels of creative freedom, said publisher Jim

Lee, and freedom those writers and artists will

have. Series that run under the DC Black Label

won't be restricted to a specific format, release

schedule, or canon. When it comes to DC Black

Label, creative vision is most important. Writers

will be free to write stories that contradict

the new 52 or rebirth, and artists can reimagine

heroes and villains with designs that have never

been seen before. DC Entertainment has six books

planned for the first wave of DC Black Label

titles. Superman Year One, Batman Last Night

on Earth, Batman Damned, Wonder Woman Historia,

And sorry the Amazon's Wonder Woman Diana's daughter

and the other history of the DC universe I just

saw my local comic shop just tweeted out an advanced

copy of they actually have Batman damned in their

hands right now It looks really the cover looks

really really cool So the three jokers thing

It's a grounded emotional story about the mystery

of the Joker. It was focused on Bruce, Barbara,

and Jason. John's promise that while the book

will be part of the Black Label imprint, it will

still have elements that take place in the main

DC Universe continuity. Because in Justice League

42, the Dark Side War, Batman got to use the

Mobius Chair to ask two questions. Who really

killed his parents and what was the Joker's real

name? It's Jack Napier. Well, in issue 50, and

DC Rebirth number one, they got their answers

to what the Mobius Chair told Batman. There are

three Jokers. So, it was literally three different

jokers. Which is why this came about. Yes. I'm

actually, I'm interested in that, but I'm more

interested in Mark Silvestri's Batman Joker series

that's coming. And what many would call one of

the worst kept secrets in comics, DC Comics has

finally announced the long rumored Batman project

by writer -artist Mark Silvestri at Comic Con

International in San Diego. The project will

be titled Batman Joker Deadly Duo. Silvestri

was introduced as a surprise guest during today's

Meet the Publishers, yada yada yada. As you probably

guessed, I'm working on Batman. It's Batman Joker

Team Up. We talked about it and I couldn't believe

that it had been done before, at least not at

a serious level, Silvestri said. It will be full

of dramatic, comedic moments. I've been wanting

to do this story for 20 years. Sylvester explains

that the premise is that someone is screwing

around with the Joker really hard and Joker can't

deal with it. He can't handle it. So Joker makes

it so that Batman has to help him. Joker takes

Jim Gordon and holds him hostage. Not even Joker

knows where he is and uses that to make Batman

help him. Little pieces of Gordon keep showing

up and Joker says, look, we're going to run out

of pieces that aren't important here soon. Oh

God, we are so covering this. Oh, you're still

covering this in the pullback. I cannot wait

for this. Oh my god. No official release date.

The Dio explained we're going to hold this book

until it's ready. Though the official DC Comics

Twitter account called the title Batman Joker

Deadly Duo, the Dio alluded to being a working

title. Eh, working title, whatever. It sounds

really, really cool. And I have been just waiting

for, you know, a Batman Joker story that... Is

is unlike anything else we've seen and I think

that's what that's gonna be Meanwhile on the

Marvel side they are releasing the first ten

years of Marvel Studios By Tara Bennett and Paul

Terry Forward by Kevin Fahey or Fahey or whatever

his name whatever the definitive story behind

the blockbuster studio essentially is what it

is is the only book to give fans an exclusive

behind -the -scenes look at the evolution of

the studio from a film production arm of a comic

book company to the studio that has produced

an unparalleled interconnected universe of feature

films. The first 10 years is a lavish two -volume

set that includes personal stories from the 22

movies up through and including 2019's Captain

Marvel Untitled Avengers sequel featuring 100

plus new interviews with key producers studio

heads and cast members including Chadwick Boseman

Benedict Cumberbash Robert Downey jr. Chris Evans

yada yada yada yada yada The price on this is

150 bucks It is supposed to be published May

3rd 2019 For every no for everything that this

is gonna put out Like this looks really cool

like I mean Yeah, generally you're right a book

for 150 bucks But the way that this looks if

you look at it at the at the story link the images

of what it is It looks really really cool. Like

this is one of those rare instances where I would

want this on my shelf Obviously, I wanted to

read it to find out the story You know and all

that but like this would be a collector item

that I would love to have on my shelf for a book

So that's all the Marvel and DC more DC than

Marvel because like we said at the beginning

of this DC kind of ran the con this year I posted

on geekcastrader .com press releases from IDW

Publishing which includes Shredder in Hell, Sonic

Team Racing One Shot, The Gobots are getting

their own comic book series, George Takei, They

Called Us Enemy. So you guys can go over there

and check that stuff out. Everything in there

looks really really cool. Shredder in Hell is

Mateus Santaloukos. It's essentially a sequel

to Secret History of the Foot Clan which he did

a couple years ago. Since Shredder, I believe,

is still dead in the IDW universe, it's going

to explore his adventures in hell, I guess? And

then there's Comcast letting the Fox escape.

So Comcast has dropped their bid to buy Fox,

basically paving the way for Disney. Yeah, I

kind of figured Comcast would back down, and

I kind of figured... Disney would end up reacquiring

their library, plus some. So it's only a matter

of time before the X -Men are in the Marvel Universe.

Yeah, I've seen plenty of stories over this past

weekend for Comic -Con that, oh, what it's going

to take to get the... The the x -men into the

Marvel universe kind of a thing and whatever

else I'm like just let it happen naturally They

could easily after the next film true just because

the the fallout of the infinity stuff so yeah

Yeah Yeah, I am NOT All in all, it was a really

fun con this year. I mean, just from what I had

seen and all the news items that I was able to

tweet out and everything else, it was really

fun. It was probably one of the more fun Comic

Cons that I've been paying attention to. Yeah,

and then of course we have information such as...

This would interest you more, so... Live action

Kim Possible movie. Yeah, there was that. It

is what it is. I like it better. And then there's...

Altered Deadpool 2 post -credit scene, hence

it won't return. Yeah, I saw that. That's funny.

I haven't even seen Deadpool 2 yet, but yeah.

It's great. And then... Walmart reportedly starting

their own streaming service to rival Netflix.

Oi. Joss Whedon deciding to reboot Buffy the

Vampire Slayer in today's era. Saw that one too.

Then there's Robert Zemeckis also shooting down

the Back to the Future reprisals. Yeah, that's

not like I hate how that happens. It's happening

more and more like that every couple of months

this year. I've seen that every couple of months

at the end of last year. I saw that and it's

like, look, it's not happening. It why would

you want it to happen like yes, I get it Christopher

Lloyd at his age now He probably wants and needs

a job. I don't know. I don't know the man. Whatever.

I'm just saying that This is what actors and

celebrities do now they go on social media and

they say oh hey back to the future for I'd love

to be in that well of course you'd love to be

in that because hello, but it's not good I Do

not want Hey back to the future for I'm glad

the Beverly Hills cop for thing has died down

And I haven't heard word one on diehard six not

that I wanted diehard five So and I still haven't

seen diehard five. Yeah five was terrible You

could have swapped out the names Easily like

it could have been easily like a Tom Cruise movie

or something like that. Like there's no Aside

from having the names And using the slogan Yippee

-ki -yay, there's literally nothing about that

film that is die -hard Yeah, I just do not care

and then they added Jai Whitney as the Sun the

Sun which is just it was another like Indiana

Jones moment with Harrison Ford and Yeah, Shia.

So it was a total waste There was the Movie glass.

Yeah the trailer which I did see that Which I

didn't expect to see Bruce Willis back. I did.

Because between Unbreakable, what was the other

one he did? Split and Glass, it's a trilogy.

Well, I didn't know Split was a part of it until

they had Mr. Glass show up. and then they had

like Bruce Willis' character like in a bar or

something and then this movie has all three of

them sitting there like in real progression of

the original timeline. Yeah. Which I'm interested

like I never saw Split nor did I have any intent

to see it. I had not. I saw Unbreakable way back

when when it first came out to media release

but that movie just was... too strange for me.

I want to go back to Unbreakable and watch it

again and then watch Split and then watch Glass,

obviously, but I have so much... I just can't

keep up with all the stuff. But, yeah, I'm glad

that, you know, Glass is going to be coming.

I just wonder how it's going to play out with

the three characters with powers kind of, you

know, different powers kind of showing up. In

this new one, but I thought it was an interesting,

you know the return And it's like what the third

time that or third major time that Willis and

Sam Jackson have worked together I think they've

worked together multiple times besides like diehard

and yeah. Yeah, it was um, yeah, I'm sure they

have but like Again, because he's creating, Shyamalan

is creating this universe here, I guess, you

know, this trilogy here. And who would have thought

Unbreakable could have turned into a trilogy?

Well, back then, I thought that it was a really

good movie and it deserved another movie, but

then they never did it. They never did it until,

obviously, Split and now Glass. Which, again,

I think it's cool and all that and whatever else,

but I'm not... Not too sure like when I would

end up watching it or anything like that I've

got too many people begging me to watch the princess

bride let alone watch the the unbreakable trilogy

Okay, so Family -friendly question here for you.

I know you guys Don't necessarily I don't want

to say you shield your children, but you basically

direct them into the right way of Seeing certain

content Do your kids have your kids seen any

kind of horror stuff at all? Do they get too

scared or anything like that? Or obviously they're

probably too young at this point But they will

never see it as long as we have anything to say

about it. Okay, that's that's fine Not judging,

just asking, because one of my press releases

for IDW was Tales from Vader's Castle, celebrating

spooky stories in a galaxy far, far away. Okay,

so IDW Publishing invites readers of all ages

to explore the creepiest corners of the Star

Wars universe in Star Wars Adventures Tales from

Vader's Castle, a thrilling five -part comic

book event with new issues hitting stands every

Wednesday in October. Fan favorites Kevin Scott

and Derek Charm team up with incredible roster

of guest artists for this special miniseries

just in time for Halloween. Had you ever thought

of crossing over the Star Wars, especially with

Vader, into the horror genre. It kind of already

is. You know, with Vader himself. I mean, yeah,

because it's basically a Frankenstein. He's you

know, he can force choke and throw people across

the room. He slices them with a lightsaber. I

mean, it's kind of already is. So as I said,

this is an all -ages comic. This is their Star

Wars adventures line. It is specifically made

for kids I'd be interested if you had shown this

to two years to see what they would say, you

know Because I know you're gonna show them Star

Wars and stuff eventually I mean, it's not like

am I gonna sit here and ask you to show them

like Dark Empire Oh hell no, but you know Since

this is made for kids, I don't think they're

going to go too overboard, and it's IDW of all

people, so... See, that's the thing that would

be an interesting topic for another episode.

Absolutely. Of sensitizing and desensitizing

to certain types of mediums. Because there's

a theory on it, and... It would be it would be

an interesting conversation to say the least

so I'll leave that for another episode cool cool

cool But Yeah, so we also had Batman the animated

series on Blu -ray Blu -ray it's been ten years

since The original DVD set came out from Warner

Archive or Warner Brothers. It's been about Eight

years since you got scammed on eBay, so you're

gonna... No, then I bought them all individually.

Yeah, well... You need to buy this. That's the

thing, though. Come on! I don't. Come on, you

know you want to. No, I actually don't need to

buy it because I still have the originals. Yeah,

but there's gonna be new features and stuff!

So I can download them. On YouTube. No... I have

zero like I really don't collect DVDs anymore

or blu -rays of any kind like I don't even buy

movies anymore and I don't either unless they're

digital but there's supposed to be some new features

on this like a new one hour behind -the -scenes

thing which I mean it'll be sad I don't see it

but I'm not I can live without it Because there's

literally there's probably very little I'm gonna

see out there that I haven't heard at some point.

Yeah Not to say that I don't like like mask of

the phantasm or the original animated series

Because I know that they're gonna have like Various

people that are involved in it doing the the

conversations on these blue rays, but Regardless,

it would depend. It's going to be on the DC Universe

digital streaming service too. It is, yes. In

its HD format, and so I'm sure that that will

be on there as well. Oh, I'm sure it will be,

yes. Okay, so this Blu -ray set, folks. It basically

has everything. According to Blu -ray .com, the

upcoming Blu -ray will contain new remasters

of all episodes in the series, remasters of the

movies, Mask of the Phantasm, and Batman and

Mr. Freeze Sub -Zero. Art of the Batman hour

-long featurette. Select audio commentaries,

three Funko pops, and a deluxe art book. The

set will retail for 113 bucks, which is kind

of a steal when you look at all the goodies you're

getting. Plus, as a hardcore physical media defender,

this person, whoever wrote this article, he'd

much rather have these HD versions in my collection

rather than wondering if I'm going to have to

pick up subscription to DC Universe if I want

my BTAS fix. I would rather honestly have this.

Just because and it looks so cool like in the

past I probably would have now But being that

I've gone to this lighter load of not getting

things late to be honest if I was gonna blow

a hundred and twelve dollars It wouldn't be on

a blu -ray series. It would be literally a down

payment on Beast Wars Megatron. Yeah, well like

just saying like but because I know that's gonna

be out of my price range too, but But yeah, like

I can watch it so like it's not that big of a

deal to me now if they came out with like Return

of the Joker and it was blu -ray and it had that

Animatic added back into the movie mm -hmm That

you can watch of you know seeing in the Joker's

corpse or bones hanging from the ceiling Yeah

That would be one thing, but that's not a part

of the film. Things like that would get me involved

in wanting some of this stuff. Maybe if there

was missing episodes that were animated, I would

care more. But for giving the same content, I

have zero interest in purchasing the same stuff

over again. Like I said earlier with the Marvel

book thing, It's you know and I'm like you I've

pretty much unless you're talking funko pops

I pretty much that is my collection now I don't

collect physical media anymore just like you

don't but there are certain special things that

I would want back from my media collection that

I had years and years and years ago at this point

and that would be one of them because I love

like. Got that the original DVD set I got it

for I got it for 75 bucks at Best Buy which was

like half off of 25 % off of what the original

original MSRP of the DVD set was like 108 99

or something like that and I got it for 20 almost

25 bucks less a little more than that actually

So, you know Because that original DVD set was

super cool So yeah, but again, it's like, you

know Warner Brothers and DC, they're not just

saying, hey, you know, forget that. Who knows?

Maybe Batman Beyond will be next for Blu -ray.

I know they're going to work on Superman the

Animated Series as well at some point, but this

is the stepping stone for the DCAU to step into

the HD world, I guess you could say. And then

also the other thing that we have is the the

Star Wars the Clone Wars I've for six episode

like Season two wind down the original Clone

Wars since it was kind of cut off abruptly Yeah,

which is kind of nice to see them do that I Still

have never watched that show. I've never watched

it either, but I know a lot of people that have

And yeah, so I mean that's that's kind of the

majority of everything aside from the fact that

What's his name? What's his James Gunn got fired

from Guardians He got fired from Guardians and

from Disney for stuff. He said ten years ago,

which I think is crap. It is crap Because and

then Bobcat gold white gold thwite. Yeah made

a comment on there he says you know that he he

loves James Gunn he's a loyal friend super talented

passionate and kind he says I wanted to say something

here it is dear Disney I would hate for you to

come off as hypocritical so I'm suggesting they

remove my voice from an attraction that's coming

to your park it's called world of color villainous

and I reprise the role of pain a role I played

in Hercules He says, here's the deal, years ago

I made a lot of sarcastically shocking and offensive

jokes, many of which I'm embarrassed about now

and I'd hate to make you guys look bad saying

that I'm openly critical of the president's administration

and you seem to be taking your lead from some

of his radical fringe supporters. I think James

Woods may have recorded a voice for his new attraction

too, why not check out some of his wacky past

tweets? He says, for the record, I do stand with

survivors of sexual abuse. And I was wondering

if you guys are still making money off of your

movie powder, asking for a friend. Thanks, Bobcat.

So I mean, it's kind of funny that everybody's

calling him out. And plus there's a whole change

.org petition with Selma Blair, Dave Bautista,

and a multitude of other people trying to get

Disney to rehire the director, among other people

that are on this. And I even saw Booth Ninja

posting, you know, if I were James Gunn and Disney

approached me, you know, more or less, would

you, you know, why would he want to come back

under those conditions? You know, if the public

outcry, you know, eventually becomes loud enough

that Disney rehires Gunn, he was like, if I was

in his shoes right now, I'd turn them down. Why

would I or anyone want to go back to a company

that showed me the door as a knee -jerk reaction

to a blogger? It's kind of funny just in general.

He says it would be like Disney firing Robert

Downey Jr. for his drug problems in the 90s.

He says also anyone that's ever made a Catholic

priest joke, which is like everyone except the

Pope and So like I think booth ninja nails it

on the head. Oh he does. Yeah, you know because

there's it's It's just ridiculous the crap that

You know that they're trying to pile on here,

I don't know I don't I don't understand how quickly

and how stupidly they can do this, but it's,

again, I don't know, I don't know. And again,

it's like you said that Mike had said about RDJ's

issues in the 90s. It's stuff James Gunn said

10 years ago. That's like somebody going back,

somebody went back recently, and this has happened

a couple of times to me. somebody went back like

three or four or five years and liked the tweet

like somebody took the time to Twitter stalk

me and like a tweet that I tweeted like seven

years ago or something and I'm like seriously

really why would you like that thing that has

been so long so I don't know yeah I don't know

it's And people say I have too much time on my

hands. Yeah, if you're going back to purposely

intentionally hurt somebody for something that's

like... Well, yeah. Something that was meant

as like a thing in jest, like at a, you know,

blogger type thing, like he wasn't serious about

those things that he posted. It was taken out

of context. Granted, they probably shouldn't

have been said in the first place, but still,

it was just... It was kind of just a low blow

just by the blogger in general Yeah, so yeah,

I mean, I don't know it's so dumb It is Oh, did

you see that Rugrats is getting revived? Yes,

I don't care not that I watched it, but it's

getting revived now Is that a show you're gonna

show your kids? 26 episode 10th season on Nickelodeon.

Yeah Yeah, there's not a lot of programming I

show my kids, like, as far as television. I just,

yeah, I don't have any ambition to show them

the crap that's on TV most of the time. Granted,

we don't have television, so... We keep them

on a very limited media basis. Unlike myself.

And even that, I'm trying to cut back on some

of it, just because I feel like it... just it

overloads okay so I got a a better link and you

can put this in the episode if you want for the

btas blu -ray the special features the deluxe

limited edition enhanced content for the blu

-ray the heart of batman all new documentary

a rare gathering of talent to find batman for

a generation 25 years later batman the animated

series continues to inspire fans and myth makers

all over the world. This hour -long documentary

takes an in -depth look at the renowned storytellers

behind the landmark series. There's going to

be a feature it called the dark nights first

night pilot promo hosted by Bruce Tim witness

the 1991 Batman promo realize producers Bruce

Tim and Eric Radomski discuss the origins of

Batman the animated series okay they discussed

this on like one of the commentaries but we actually

get to see the original promo that's cuz that's

gonna be cool well the other thing is is like

I actually did get this in my email I just never

actually got to post on the site yet because

it was set out earlier today. Recording this

was the first time I'd been to my PC. So it'll

be on GeekCast Radio as well when this airs.

But they also said that aside from the 109 episodes

of the series being on there and the two bonus

discs, they're going to have the recently remastered

fan favorite animated films Mask of the Phantasm

and Mr. Free Sub -Zero. And then the 10 Blu -ray

discs, the 11 specially selected episodes with

audio commentaries. They're going to have an

exclusive ensemble of collectibles highlighted

by three Funko minifigures. Yep. Seven lenticular

art cards. The box is very similar to... The

original DVD set. In a sense. The outside of

it is. It says the ultimate collector's blue

-gray box will be individually numbered for a

limited edition release of 30 ,000. More than

2 ,000 copies were pre -ordered within the first

24 hours of availability on Amazon. Oh, of course.

And then, yeah, they've got a lot of awards on

the show. And legendary actors and actresses

and... Yeah, it's it's just it's crazy. Yeah,

so Yeah, aside from the the documentary and the

two films, it's Gonna be a bunch of feature X.

Yep It's pretty much gonna be all of the old

content from the original complete series set

plus a lot of some of this new stuff Like I said,

it's like one or two new things and that's fine.

That's great. I just you know Just want to see

Batman in high -definition. That's really all

I want at this point and They're even gonna have

the Arkham Asylum. Yeah threats. Yep, which were

on the original. Yeah Which yeah, I never watched

it. So because I never had the official version.

Mm -hmm But yeah, and then the tour of the Batcave,

yep I think I think that was on the original

version. I think that was I think it was yeah

It's been too long, but yeah, I'll have that

on the website Shortly I believe for that but

It's it's definitely something worth getting

if you're into Having yeah collectible series

on disk absolutely Oh, I think that's it comic

-con killed me folks. Yeah, it kind of did You're

on vacation. You didn't have to worry about it

until you got back. Yeah, but getting like keeping

up with it easier than Not really no Not dude

trust me to keep up with it in the book market

as you go instead of well open like this mass

colossal like insane Yeah. Insane mess of news

from a variety of sources. Yeah. Because that's

what I had to do. Yeah. And it wasn't fun. But

yeah, so I think that wraps this episode up,

and I'll have all the trailers watched. I think

Birdman Dodd might be joining me on the next

episode. I'm not entirely sure. It just kind

of depends on scheduling. But yeah, so what was
